Located in a charming, wooded area in North Wales, Swallow Falls is a breathtaking waterfall with churning waters that can be reached by walking along a narrow and rocky footpath for 2.5 miles from the Tyn Llwyn car park in Gwydyr.
I've been in the blue ridge mountains the rocky mountains and the high searas.
But these mountains and road ways are like nothing I have ever seen it's just beautifully majestic, passing through all the little pictures villages and cottages takes u back to another time and place. I could spend weeks maybe the rest of my life there it's just beautifully beyond words I wish every one could get a chance to see

Stunning waterfalls especially after rain. You enter through an automated turnstile which costs £2 and is card payment only as far as I know you can enter anytime. The car park is free but can get full at peak times an other option would be to go in the Swallow Falls Inn across the road and use there car park which is for customers only so have a drink or something to eat then quickly visit the falls after.
We stopped off at the Swallow Falls on our way home. It was over twenty-five years since we last visited, so long overdue!
We paid the £2.00 entry fee and could believe the noise. We were visiting after Storm Amy has passed through so there was plenty of water flowing at great speed and volume.
Since we last visited, more safety fencing and concrete steps have been laid, making it safe to climb down to the waters edge.
Thankfully, we were wearing waterproofs so kept dry. We were able to walk down to the waters edge and to be so close to such a raging flow reminded me of standing under Niagara Falls in Canada. The noise was deafening and exciting. We stayed for about twenty minutes as we had a two hour journey home.
The steps are steep with handrails for support so good footwear is advisable. A raincoat might be helpful depending on recent rainfall. There are no facilities but there is additional parking across the road at the Swallow Falls Hotel. To be fair, you might want to purchase a drink. We parked in the lay-by beside the Falls.
From here, we drove into Betws-y-Coed and parked by the river. The bridge is narrow and visitors stand either side to view the small Falls.
A magnificent waterfall can be admired from several viewpoints behind the gate (£2). You can sit on a bench and let yourself be carried away. The walk is short, but the beauty will surely captivate you for a while.
Nice enough to stop past and have a look. We thought it was a longer walk to get there but actually you go through the turnstile gate (£2 per person, contactless payment available) and you are more or less there. They have however built a couple of viewing platforms accessed by stairs so overall we spent about 15minutes there. Small free parking lay-by in front of entrance, more parking (pay and display) belonging to hotel which is just across the road.
There are not many attractions in the uk that cost £2 to enjoy and can offer a glimpse of such raw power. Visit if possible after rain. Take your lunch as there is a seating area that very few seem to find. Steps with good hand rail access to lower platforms. Great views to appreciate at the different viewing areas. Allow 30min.
Really beautiful waterfall. Well worth the £2 entrance fee. Relatively easy walk down to the falls. The path and stairs are good. It is slightly steep but manageable even if you are unfit. There is a small free parking area near the falls, but it can get quite busy at times. It's definitely worth a visit.
This is a lovely place to visit, 2 pounds entry is very reasonable. The falls are stunning, even on a rainy day!

Gwydir Castle is worth a visit.
Park is a haven for nature lovers, with serene lakes, lush woodland trails, and rich wildlife. Board walk is so peaceful and picturesque . Perfect for hiking, cycling, or simply unwinding, it offers breathtaking views and a true sense of peace.
Went for a small walk up the Watkin Path last weekend, and it did not disappoint! The weather could have been better, but you can't have everything haha The views are amazing and the waterfalls even better. The waters crystal clear and looks so fresh, freezing cold but fresh. I would recommend going for a look if you're in thevarea.
This is the home of the Gwydir Mawr MTB trail. It is a "Red" trail which means that a relatively high level of skill and confidence is required. However, there are many miles of ordinary, non tarmacked tracks which are smooth enough to drive a car down- these are called "Fire tracks". They are used by the forestry vehicles and are very easy to cycle on. They are great for beginners, or those not looking for bumpy downhill thrills and spills but rather a lovely peaceful pedal through trees and lakes with no cars and rarely another person.
These show up on Google Maps, and one can easily find ones way back to the car.
Secluded, beautiful and worth a visit.
We passed through here with 90 Dirty Adventures Land Rover Driving Experience during a Welsh mountain tour. This is simply a lovely area to visit. We didn't know these places existed until we did this experience. Well worth a visit.
We did the red walk from the car park in Betws-y-Coed. Perfect length and difficulty for my 3 year old daughter. Lovely little walk along the boardwalk next to the river and a little bit around the forest. My daughter loved the information points and was always very excited to see the next one
We also had a little picnic on the benches at the start of the walk and a little paddle in the river

Nestled near the Betws-y-Coed railway station, The Alpine Coffee Shop is an eco-friendly establishment run by the same owners as Hangin Pizzeria. Tucked away in this beautiful town surrounded by woods and mountains, this café truly stands out with what might be the widest selection I’ve ever seen. Over 100 types of tea, a full spread of food options—from traditional breakfasts to excellent vegan versions—and genuinely great coffee. It’s the kind of place that has something for everyone.
The coffee was a real highlight: strong, smooth, and well-balanced. Despite the barista clearly being overwhelmed (I noticed she wasn’t even cleaning the portafilter between shots due to the nonstop demand), every cup still tasted amazing.
Now, the only downside—and it’s a big one—is the ordering system. You have to queue up at the counter to order, while someone from your group holds a table, and on busy days it’s chaotic. We waited 40 minutes just to place our order. With staff clearly available to serve, I genuinely don’t understand why they don’t switch to table service—it would transform the experience.
That said, once the food arrived, all was forgiven. It was fresh, hearty, and absolutely worth the wait. If you have the time and patience, this café is a gem—but be prepared for a bit of a marathon before you get to enjoy it.
A bustling coffee/cafe run by a friendly and attentive team. Food okay and certainly good value. Interesting deco and a selection of different seating options. The staff make the difference here.
Very nice cafe in Betws-y-Coed. We came here for breakfast. Good food and nice atmosphere. Views of the traditional train station aswell.
Ordered 2 sausage rolls and coffees. Queue to order was so slow must have been 20 minutes waiting in line. It wasn't massively busy with a few tables free but the ordering system was frustrating to say the least with just one person on a machine making the drinks. Food came out very quickly once ordered but the sausage roll had been microwaved to warm it up and had gone hard. Lovely inside with lots of cool conservation themed sculptures and stuff in there. Just let down by the waiting times to actually get ordered.
I went here early in the morning - starving and cold.
They provided me with the most fantastic vegetarian breakfast with fresh falafel, delicious crisp potatoes, vegetarian sausage and an amazing blend of tea.

Found this beautiful cafe on our holiday, took a gamble on Google and was so impressed, beautiful cafe, fantastic food and the cause made me come back every morning!

Betws y Coed Tourist Information Centre provides a wealth of information on the park's attractions, activities, and events. It also offers assistance with accommodations and souvenirs. The area is popular among tourists, but there are walks that remain separate from the touristy spots. The forest walk is particularly impressive, featuring a wooden bridge that allows wheelchair-bound or physically challenged individuals to enjoy the beauty of the area. Visitors can easily access Swallow Falls either by the main road or a scenic route.
The visitor centre has a great exhibition about the eryri national park. There is a VR experience simulating the top of Snowdon and an immersive film, all for free. It was very quiet and a great visit. There is also a cafe which serves drinks and cakes. The shop sells a wide assortment of items, most of which at a reasonable price.

Beautiful place, visited on a Wednesday afternoon. Very scenic. Amazing river and a little waterfall. Would 100% recommend a visit here.

I personally would ignore the shopping centre, walk past and head for the old church. The atmosphere is restful. The stained glass and statuary second to none.

Love the forest walk. We took the Blue path. Steep at parts but mostly it's a steady incline. Couldn't complete the path as one of our party was wearing shorts and we hit a nettle patch. We turned back after about 1.5hrs. Still very enjoyable as we were able to pick lots of juicy blackberries to make pies.
We drove to Swallow Falls instead and pay £2 to view from a few vantage points. Nice :)

Forget eating anywhere else…. While the food in Betws Y Coed is good in lots of places, the visitor centre serves up just about the best Welsh Rarebit I have ever had..!

Y Stablau - Stables Bar is a family-run pub located in the heart of Betws-y-Coed, offering an eclectic menu featuring locally sourced ingredients and a selection of craft beers. Situated near the river, it's a convenient stop for hikers exploring the Welsh mountains of Snowdonia or visitors to the village. The pub provides a welcoming atmosphere and serves as an ideal place to enjoy a meal and refreshing drinks.
Enjoyed two evenings at the pub where we had a meal and drinks. It gets busy at peak times, on the first evening it was wet and cold so we had a wait to find a table and since it was so busy once we ordered our meal it did take a good 30 minutes to arrive. The second evening was fine and a bit later (7pm) so more people were outside and we had no problem finding an inside table and the food arrived much quicker.
Had the classic Welsh burger (£16) with lots of chips the first night and chilli con carne the second night with half chips & rice (£15).
Good portions, really nice staff who served everyone quickly and a great environment, cheers!

An incredibly busy bar with a great outdoor seating area. Getting served is tricky as the bar is huge and people are standing all over the place. The local Conwy beer was excellent and the food looked good, but we gave it a miss as it’s expensive.
A beer and a pint of cola cost just over £10.
Had a great time here with the tasty food and the amazing service! Loved the cheeriness of the ambience too. Each of us loved our order and they were all very hearty portions too!
My heartfelt thanks to Victoria and her team mates for being ever so ready to help us put together a surprise birthday and wedding anniversary celebration for my wife. We had a great night there!
A really good bar in a beautiful location. We ordered food via a qr code on the table, and it arrived in about 10 mins! The food was really good, with plentiful portions. Beer is good, especially the Wrexham lager! We eould definitely come here again next time we visit.
I didn't eat there but looking at other people's meals coming out, they looked good so I put 3 stars, not real knowing.
The staff were great. The area is well worth a visit, it's a beautiful place. I think this is the only pub around.

Lovely meal after a strenuous walk to Llyn Elsi. Excellent portion size and good quality ingredients we thought. Reasonably priced as it’s a tourist hot spot! Only little niggle was the veggie curry could really do with some spicing up as it was more like a casserole albeit a tasty one!
The food was ok but there didn't seem to be any way to order drinks on the app so I had to get up and go to the bar after ordering food.
It was quiet on the day I went and the waitress, although very nice was a bit too keen. She grabbed my plate to take it away before I was finished eating. She immediately apologised but by that point, I'd had enough and left. I went for a second drink and dessert elsewhere.
It wasn't terrible but I wouldn't rush back either.

In the picturesque village of Betws-y-Coed in Snowdonia National Park, North Wales, stands the historic Pont-y-Pair Bridge. Dating back to the 1500s, this architectural gem offers stunning views of the River Conwy and its surroundings. Originally built for packhorses, it was later expanded to accommodate stagecoaches.
This area gets really busy at weekends during the summer. But when we last went it was late spring when the kids weren't off and it was quiet.
You can get down to the river here and there's public toilets and picnic benches (there's only one other area in the town with picnic benches near the main green).
You can follow the path up to Swallow falls which is about an hour's walk. But it's free from this side.

Betws-y-Coed October 2025, the water is spectacular to watch flowing over the rocks, the views in the surrounding area amazing, there is so many shops and eating establishments to choose from. If you like hiking, mountain biking or just having a stroll alongside the river, this is a must visit for you.
Excellent walk along the bridge/Riverside.
Can walk for around 30 minutes & cross a wooden bridge half way to cross to the other side of the bank.
Or you can continue for 1hr 30 mins and follow the arrow sign posts that will eventually bring you out neat Swallow Waterfall.
Both are lovely walks or you can just sit on one of the wooden benches & just enjoy looking at the river with the bridge just a stones throw into the little town.
Scenic spot to stop and admire the bridge and river. Take care on the rocks but you can get closer to the bridge and take some nice photos. Look out for heron!
It's worth a walk upto the bridge and over the stones. 'Careful now', (quote for all us Father Ted fans). But if you can manage there is serious beauty to be found.

Nestled in the picturesque village of Betws-y-Coed, The Royal Oak Hotel is a historic three-star former coaching inn offering a charming blend of Victorian elegance and modern luxury. The hotel features traditional rooms with contemporary amenities, including Jacuzzi bathrooms and ornate four-poster or sleigh beds. Guests can enjoy dining at the on-site restaurant and grill, as well as explore nearby pubs and restaurants.
Stayed here for a couple of nights while walking in the area and was really impressed. The staff were the real highlight and couldn't do enough to help - arranging a snack when we arrived late and the kitchens had closed, making sure we had a packed breakfast as we had an early start and generally being very friendly and welcoming. Food was good, amazing hot shower in the bathroom (looks like bathrooms have been recently redone). I only marked it down a little for the room as it did smell like it had been smoked in once upon a time and the hoover had missed a few spots but other than that it was comfortable and a good size with plenty of wardrobe space. I would recommend.

Stopped off for lunch. Amazing food in grill room. Homemade and super tasty. Service was fast and so friendly. Very clean.
Mari was serving us and she was lovely. Made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be staying in hotel next year on our yearly visit. Fabulous
The visit started off with a lovely and genuine welcome from the front desk staff, and continued through to the staff in the restaurant. Everyone was happy to be there and it really showed. Breakfast was fantastic, with a great selection of locally sourced items and the hot breakfast cooked to order. There's some nice walks from the door, but also within no more than a 30 minute drive in any direction there are also some great walks in the mountains.
Positives: Great location, very pretty building, next to shops, restaurants etc. The staff are very welcoming. The room was spacious, overlooked the river, very traditional old Welsh furnishings. Bathroom was spacious with a shower and bath. The breakfast was good. You can also use the amenities in the sister hotel down the street.
Negatives: The bed was honestly the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept on. Really cheap, thin, hard mattress with an old mattress topper that made 0 improvements. The pillows feel like they were made of styrofoam. Ill pretty much sleep anywhere but it was horrible and my body felt battered the next day. The room and bathroom were very poorly lit and there was no mini fridge which means you can't keep any fresh milk for tea/coffee or keep your drinks cool in summer months. None of that really matters, but due to the bed I would never go back. It's a shame as everything else was lovely.
Didn't stay. Just popped in for a coffee and a pot of tea. Service was excellent. Prices good value. Lovely area to sit.

Coffee was good and the pot of tea was also good. Nice little shortbread biscuit with each. So much better than the biscoff biscuits at so many places these days.

Nice staff but no excuse for food being this mediocre anymore. My sandwich was mostly butter - what cheese was in there had no flavour at all. Heard a chap at another table say the same thing about his steak - just bland. My partners salad was fine but could have done better ourselves for cheaper from Tesco. Told the staff this but they didn’t seem too concerned. Beer also tasted metallic for some reason.
An amazing location, a beautiful building and the friendliest and hardest working staff you will ever meet. Impossible to do better. A truly joyous experience. I only wish I had room for desert but the first courses were just too delicious and generous! Next time!!!

We came for the "lunch and drink" offer for £12.00 and were very pleased with what we got. OK, the portion sizes were a little small but they are only charging £12.00 so it was a reasonable offer. Foot was hot, tasty and wholesome so I would definitely come again. Service was very good too.

Really enjoyed our dinner & the server at the bar was very attentive. The garlic ciabatta was fantastic. The flavor on the steak & ale pie was very good but the crust was a little tough in parts. The dark & stormy was the best I've had in a long time.
Beer is £6.40 a pint which i guess is expected in Betws but it felt a little steep. Classic pub food, not too special and felt a little expensive for what it was. I had the chicken and ham hock pie at £15.95. Someone also ordered a dirty burger at £16.50 which was just underwhelming for how it was described on the menu. I don't think I would eat there again. I did however really like the atmosphere, the fire was burning and it was full of happy people enjoying their evening, playing pool or darts, and the outdoor beer garden with heat lamps is lovely too. So maybe I would splash out on a pint to enjoy that again.
They also don't have any local beers which is a shame.
But I had a nice evening none the less, the price just felt a little steep for me personally.
We had dinner here yesterday and really enjoyed our food. Our very picky eater son said the pork belly was really good and he ate more than what he normally ate. My steak was perfectly cooked. My daughter and husband loved their lamb and chicken pie too. The desserts were delicious too. Highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding and maybe extra custard for the apple pie. Lucky we reversed as it got really busy later.

We stayed there last minute after what I deemed a scary drive in the rain up a mountain. Fantastic people! Great location. As someone living in Canada this was great, clean, across from The Cauldron. Keep driving up the road after to see the best views.
After a very busy day we were looking for a nice place to get some food. We checked this little place out and what a find a diamond in the rough!! From start to finish the staff were amazing very welcoming we also had a dog which was made very welcome they even have little treats at the bar! We ordered food and shortly after it was on the table well presented I had the mixed grill the steak was so good not one ounce of fat just beautifully cooked. I followed up with the cookie dough I’d say it’s one of the best desserts I’ve had the portion sizes are really good!! So if you want a nice chilled place with good people good food and good music then this place is a must.
We had a Sunday roast in the Pont Y Pair Inn, the food and service were excellent and our dog had her own meal too. We were so impressed we went back for our evening meal a couple of days later. Highly recommended.
Lovely pub/hotel/restaurant. Welcoming staff. We didn't eat here only had drinks, but the food looked great. Nice outside area at the back.

My room was spacious, bathroom was perfect, large walk in shower, comfy bed and fan supplied as no ac but this was absolutely fine. We didn’t have a view but also we didn’t need one, (although some rooms did) we were literally only in the room
To sleep and shower as when we’re weren’t being wedding guests, we went for walks along the river and around the village which was so lovely.
James and his staff were great, and the location is perfect for walkers, holiday makers and families. Zip world was around the corner so we will definitely come back and stay here again as we just didn’t have time to go.
Food was affordable and lovely.
Drinks were also affordable considering we were in a hotel.
We will definitely go back, Loved this weekend stay.

Big thanks to Charlie for looking after us in the bar and cafe, including fetching an ice pack for a sprained ankle for someone in our party. But all the staff are great and really makes this place what it is. Our beloved cocker spaniel was fussed over constantly and even got a pot of chopped up sausage from the breakfast chef <3 this place is perfect for dogs, there is even a resident lovely dog called Ted who is often found getting fuss in the bar area!
Superb location, lovely big rooms, delicious breakfast and great atmosphere. The snug and bar area has comfy sofas, tables and chairs which are great for playing board games, cards and having some fun... Very social environment for a chilled evening after a day of walks and hiking in the beautiful surrounding area

As it was the end of the season it was quite quiet here. The food was excellent I especially enjoyed my Sunday lunch. All the staff were really helpful, friendly and welcoming.

I had my wedding at the hotel. It is a stunning location in the heart of Betws. We booked out the entire hotel for the full weekend and had exceptional service. All rooms were clean and beautifully decorated. The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The food was perfect, from afternoon tea on the Friday to breakfast in my room and the wedding breakfast and buffet and all meals in-between.

I stayed at Gwydyr Hotel the night before my wedding, as it was closer to our venue than the hour drive I would have had otherwise. It was absolutely the best decision I could have made. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous. Myself, my mother and my bridesmaids stayed here in the two family suites, which were the perfect amount of space and decorated lovely. We also brought along a lot of food with us, including fresh fruit to eat the next morning. The staff could not have been more accommodating by helping to store our fruit in their bar fridges, keeping it cool overnight. There was a lady on the front desk that was absolutely amazing, so helpful and accommodating. The same can be said for the lovely gentleman serving us at the bar and the waiting staff in the restaurant. The meal we had in the restaurant was incredible, such big portions for a really decent price.
I wouldn’t hesitate to come and stay here again or recommend the hotel to anyone.
We went for Father’s Day Lunch and as we had a dog we chose to sit in the bar area choosing a table in the bay window so we could people watch!
The hotel is lovely and the greeting from the manager was so warm and welcoming, all of the staff were very helpful.
We both had the beef roasts which were large and very, very good.
Freddie, our dog was made as welcome as we were and he enjoyed a cooked sausage.
It was a first class experience which I highly recommend.

Good value for the price. River with waterfalls runs on the other side of the road. Rooms are pretty quiet thanks for the double doors and windows. Staff is friendly and helpful (if you can find them:). Their restaurant is closed but breakfast is served every morning.

If you want a comfy, clean, bed/bathroom and a good breakfast for the day ahead (in a truly great location) then it’s perfect.

The host was friendly and always happy and location were the only realistic things I liked about my stay at the red dragon. Location in a beautiful village I've visited many many times with a very short walk to pubs and restaurants. Bed was comfortable and large.
Messy and dark reception, arriving and host not being aware of my booking. I didn't like the shower as it was extremely weak with little pressure. Bathroom very small, sink taps are placed terribly. Did not sleep well here due to an outside light, had to place blanket over the curtains which helped a little.
Breakfast was nice, but basic.. no music and very awkward in a small dining room.
Bathroom door did not use properly due to issue with door wood.
Rooms very noisy at night, thin walls hearing neighbours and those walking up the metal staircase when they're returning to their room.
Most disappointed at the price and getting very little in return.
It's more like a motel than a hotel and you're paying for the location ONLY.
Host called me once I had returned home asking for the room key, I said I'd left it on reception.. she then responded with no, it's not there. I replied, yes, input it on the reception desk when leaving... She then asked what room I was in and I responded with my room room, number.

The owner was a very nice lady, the location was very good however the conditions of the room made our vacation miserable. There was a very strong damp smell and feeling which made us not sleep all night. So please take this into consideration before booking the room. Cleanliness was not perfect, the shower was dirty, and the floors were stained. Also you could hear the other guests on the upper floor

Service was excellent, but it needs a lot of upgrading. The Chinese lady was so hospitable and helpful, she needs a medal. So much could be done with this quaint hotel. Disgracefully neglected, paint peeling off the skirting boards, door handle hanging off, plus the smell of dirty fat and a musty smell. Otherwise if upgraded it would make a beautiful place to stay.

Zip World Betws-y-Coed, located in the stunning woodland setting of North Wales Conwy Valley, offers a variety of thrilling adventures for the whole family. With six different activities to choose from, including the unique Fforest Coaster and Treetop Nets, there's something for everyone. Visitors can also experience the UK's only alpine coaster, zip lines high in the trees, and even take a tandem freefall jump or ride on Europe's highest giant swing.
What an experience this place is. It isn't cheap and it's frustrating that you have to pay a booking fee and also parking fees in the middle of nowhere!
However, those 2 niggles aside, it is a stunning place in a forest with various things to do. We only went to do the forest coaster and it was just amazing!
There are other activities to do such as tree tops, big swing and there is a cafe for food. There is also a small gift shop and toilets so you can attend without any worries! We took our own food so unsure what the cafe is like...
Staff are also very pleasant and happy to help with anything.
In terms of disabled access, there are designated parking spaces and everything is flat but, it is a forest on a hill so there is a slight incline in places plus the ground would be difficult for wheelchairs.
If you have an electric vehicle, there are charging ports and spaces on the left as you enter :)

A fun family day out. The forest coaster is the main attraction of course. Didn't wait more than 25 mins to get on. The scenic ride up to the top is almost better than the coaster itself. Lovely woods and an amazing thriss on the way down. Clean and well staffed. A great time for the family.
We came as a group of 20 and had an amazing time! The Fforest Coaster was brilliant – fast, full of twists, and way more exciting than I expected. The whole place has a great forest atmosphere and feels like a proper adventure spot.
The staff were really friendly and helpful, and even though there was a bit of a queue, everything ran smoothly. There’s plenty to do – we spotted people on the treetop ropes course, which looked like a lot of fun. The tipi bar seemed like a great place to relax too (shame it wasn’t open during our visit).
It’s not the cheapest day out, but definitely worth the money. Highly recommend if you’re in the area – perfect for both kids and adults, and just a really fun day in the trees!
Great fun all the family we had a 5 year and 10 year old both wanted to do activities. Both loved the forest coaster and then zip lines. We moved our booking due to weather forecast this wasnt an issue staff easily did it for us over the phone.
Simply fantastic. Family of four we went on the Alpine coaster, three goes each. Was fantastic. If you want a little bit of adrenaline this is definitely for you looked to be a very well run business friendly staff would go back again thank you very much.

Zip World Betws-y-Coed is more than just a place for a single thrill ride; it's a full-day adventure park nestled in the stunning scenery of the Gwydir Forest. We visited with our family and were blown away by the variety of activities on offer, each one perfectly integrated into the beautiful woodland setting.
The star of the show for us was the Fforest Coaster. It's truly a one-of-a-kind experience. You are pulled up a track slowly, which gives you plenty of time to take in the breathtaking forest views, before you get to control your own speed on the way down. The track twists and turns through the trees, giving you a real feeling of being on a thrilling alpine toboggan. Getting three rides with one ticket is fantastic, as it allows you to get more confident and go faster with each run.
Beyond the coaster, we also spent time on the Treetop Nets, which is a surprisingly fun and energetic activity. Bouncing around on huge trampolines suspended high in the trees feels surreal and is a great way for both kids and adults to burn off some energy. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful, making sure everyone was safely kitted out and understood the instructions.
The location itself is perfect. There's a cafe on-site for a well-deserved refuel, and the park is a short walk from Betws-y-Coed town centre if you want to explore more. Whether you're an adrenaline junkie or just looking for a unique family day out, Zip World Betws-y-Coed delivers on all fronts. It’s an unforgettable experience and a definite highlight of any trip to North Wales.
Came here last week. We did the safari and the coaster. Safari was OK my little lad got bored after an hour all of it was much the same and very fiddly. Also instructor told us to but one hand on top off the metal on the zip wire I really don't recommend this I pinched my skin on it and got a blister! Be very careful! Also the queuing system for the coaster was unbelievable! You have to que to get on it then once you get on it you have to get on and off another 3 times! Surely there could be a better system? I suspect they do this because after each go you get a ticket where you can purchase a video of your go (£8 each!) Overall it was OK but not my favourite zip world. got free parking online because I booked two activities but got charged a booking fee!! So Overpriced.

Located in the heart of Betws-y-Coed, the Conwy Valley Railway Museum offers a delightful experience for train enthusiasts and families. Visitors can enjoy an 8-minute ride on a miniature railway through beautiful grounds and explore a diverse collection of locomotives from different eras. The museum also features historical exhibits, including a 14th-century church and Thomas Telford's Waterloo Bridge nearby.
Visited here recently with family and friends and we all had a great time on the train, It is absolutely amazing that this is still being continued and it was nice to help the local business to keep going and give the public this amazing experience. Please visit here and enjoy the ride, the shop also has a lot of models to buy and many other gift options

The miniature train ride is a fun little trip round the gardens, probably just about worth the £3 ticket. The museum on the other hand was a little disappointing. I'd have been a bit more upset had it been more than £2. It felt rather tired with displays that hadn't been updated for many years. Many of the model railways you were meant to operate were broken. A bit of TLC required to bring what was once a well loved attraction back upto scratch
The miniature train ride is quite fun, our 3 and 6 year old kids definitely enjoyed it, and it does last just under 10 minutes as advertised.
Can't say the museum was as good. The model displays are actually quite interesting, but clearly old and dusty. A few of the displays have buttons that should operate scenery or trains, but of the 12 or so buttons we found, only 3 actually worked, and the two that make trains move are just a single locomotive. The second half of the museum has a few interesting pieces, but is also a storage for older models that are clearly on sale.
Had the best time here a couple of weeks ago, great to see a miniature railways being preserved for people visiting to have a ride on. There’s also a lovely little shop if you’re wanting to buy any railways themed toys or products. The track is actually quite a long one with various aspects like a forest and bridges which make it less mundane compared to other railways. I’d 100% recommend it!

Great experience and a nice day out with family and friends. Especially the kids enjoyed a lot. There is a small toy train only two seater for kids which can be accessed for only £1 for two kids. There is a small cafe which has a variety of foods and drinks to offer. There is a shop which offers a variety of souvineers and collectables. There is a dedicated parking available just for the railway, which has ample spaces. Right across the railway is the high street which has numerous shops which offer plenty of food and beverages and ice creams etc. Nice experience overall.
This is a small museum with a few rail set ups. It is only £2 per adult but sadly, most of the set ups did not work when the buttons were pressed to activate them. If the set ups ran as stated it would be well worth a visit.
Visited in August 2019 on my Wales holiday. I spent a day in Betws-y-Coed and walked around to see as much as I can. The model shop or museum is next to the railway station, the entry ticket is a lovely old style paper ticket to let us behind the shop. It is very small, but definitely interesting and full with old models, built up whole villages and many of them is interactive with different buttons to push. Not just models but everything related to old fashioned railways and travels are pretty much can be found here, so it is a nostalgia journey. That time only me and a male visitor were in the room, but we both enjoyed to play around. There are toilets on site, and in the shop we can buy gifts. Cafe is in the station, parking is on the street, or one of the main car parks in the village.

Getting served is tricky because it’s so popular and if you want a beer, you have to order it with food or purchase from the small booth just outside the restaurant. Tea and coffee is ordered from the restaurant window.
There’s seating indoors or on benches outside. The toilets are shared and as there’s only one, that involves a wait too.
Best pizza I've had in the UK - in fact, better than many I've had in Italy. Not based in Wales but will deliberately drive out of my way to come and eat here, it's that good. Just go.

DELICIOUS gluten free pizza! Such a fun outdoor space too. There was a massive line (they take the last order at 8 pm), but they have the system down. Was worth the wait while having a beer and enjoying the cute town sitting outside.
I've been so hungry after Snowdonia hike that I didn't take any photos of pizza - trust me, it tasted like heaven!
But for me the pizza was not the favourite part of this place. They fundraise for endangered apes (orangutans)! Great job!😇

Lovely outdoor area and very busy on a Sunday in December. Had a Christmas market and a brass band playing Christmas carols. Food looks great and the pizzas look delicious. I would say that the food is definitely worth the money. Inside the hotel is also lovely but I would recommend booking in advance for a Sunday roast. The village surrounding the hotel is very picturesque and has some beautiful walks as well.

Ordered food and drinks via qr code at the table. Place busy, was surprised how quick food and drinks came. Probably about 10-15 minutes. My chickpea curry was delicious. My hubby had steak pie which he said was a 7 out of 10. Hardly any pastry and it was so thin and set like concrete to the dish. Gravy was watery and could do with being thicker. Dog friendly.
Absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish! We stopped in for a quick bite and were blown away by the quality of both the food and the service.
The standout was definitely the pork dish—tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The seasoning was perfectly balanced, and the portion size was just right. Every bite was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and it was clear a lot of care went into preparing it.
We also enjoyed every meal we ordered, Each of us ordered different items, pictures included of the Sunday special Welsh pork meal. Each dish was beautifully presented and full of fresh, bold flavors. The sides complemented the main courses perfectly and were easily the best we had during our two week vacation to the UK.
On top of that, the service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and efficient without being overbearing. We were seated promptly, our orders were taken right away, and everything came out quickly and hot. We were in and out faster than expected but never felt rushed.
Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a memorable meal with top-notch service. We’ll definitely be back!
Nice restaurant which excels in their main courses. Very friendly staff and well dressed environment (blue dining hall).
Had high expectations of the cheese platter, but it was a bit of a disappointment: a lot of unnecessary stuff, and 4 little pieces of cheese with no explanation whatsoever.
The main courses however, are great in quality!
This restaurant was highly recommended by our B&B and we lucked out that we were able to get a table without a reservation. The restaurant closes at 8 pm. We enjoyed our dinners and our server was nice & attentive.

Nice restaurant that serves delicious mixed grills, lamb koftas, and teriyaki noodles any much more. The staff are friendly and gave great service, and the prices reasonable.

We had the perfect meal at this place, I had the Fillet of Seabass and every single bite was heaven - delicious fish, the potato puree was divine, cauliflower, broccoli perfectly cooked and the pine nuts on top 👌 My partner had the lamb and it was delicious too. I also have to say, what a lovely woman that served us! I will definitely be back next time I'm in Betws-y-coed.
Arrived at 9:40am and was toke breakfast finishes at 9:45. The lady said if we got our order in quickly we could have breakfast. Arrived quickly,some items missing but given extra items to compensate for this. Friendly, helpful staff. However 2 breakfast and 2 coffees for £35 seemed expensive.

Incredible tapas. Food was amazing, every single one of our 7 tapas dishes was delicious. We could not fault the food or restaurant at all. The service was friendly, the food arrived quickly and the quality of the food was top tier.
We booked at 8:30pm, which is their last sitting. We ordered 7 tapas dishes between 2 of us (we were very hungry having not had lunch) which was more than enough for us. The dessert menu looked great, and we also managed to share a popcorn cheesecake.
We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

We had a delightful few days at Olif on our first visit to Wales! The staff were wonderful, the location was amazing, the breakfast and tapas were delicious, and the room (window view of the street in front) was clean, comfy, and charming. The location is great for access to the city and all of the outdoor activities in the area. Thanks to all the team for making our stay a memorable one. Would definitely return when back in the area.
Ate here for dinner after hiking all day. Unfortunately they can’t serve food outside, but it’s worth it to go inside for dinner. All the tapas dishes were great, we ate them as soon as they came out, so the only picture I got was the dessert! The spicy bean stew and chorizo were our favorites but everything we had was delicious. Didn’t get a cheeseboard… but saw a few go by and wished we had another chance to come back.
We had an absolute fabulous time at Olif this weekend. The room was excellent and had everything we needed. We ate at the restaurant on the first night and the food was delicious! We both agreed it was some of the best food we have eaten!! The breakfast was also superb!! The staff were fantastic, genuinely friendly and just so lovely. We will definitely be coming back again. We stayed here for a couple of nights mid week. Highly reccommend the accommodation. The rooms are stylish with high end touches throughout. Perfect location, friendly team and excellent breakfast both mornings. Unfortunately our trip was when the restaurant was closed Mon/ Tues - but they very kindly made us a sharing board with meats, pickles and hummus which was very tasty - will definitely be back to try the restaurant on our next trip to Betws - y - Coed.
Excellent stay midweek for 2 adults. Room was comfortable with good tea and coffee facilities as well as a mini fridge stocked with nibbles and cold drinks. The evening food was excellent and the service friendly. The reason for 4 star location is only because there is no onsite parking but this was not a big issue.
We stayed several nights in July. Loved the restaurant and bar; we visited other spots but always had breakfast and often dinner at Olif. It is a great location, especially if you are already driving around northern Wales. The service was always helpful. We could have used a little air conditioning the week we were there, but we didn't see much of that anywhere in the area. The room was very quiet, even with the windows open.

Popped in just over a week ago, Just for a evening meal really because the hotel we was staying in locally had an utterly awful menu.
From the moment you walked into this place, they just made you feel very welcome, and couldn't do enough for you.
The meal we had was great, and at a great price, the portion was amazing as well.
Would highly recommend this place, because it was very clean, well priced, and the staff are truly the icing on the cake, an absolute gem of a place ;-).

Room was clean but on closer inspection the bathroom had black mold all over the ceiling. It has a plug socket for the bedside lamp that doesn't work which is worrying, it also really needs blackout blinds/curtains unless you want to be woken up at sunrise.
The meal on Saturday was nice.
On Sunday you can only get a Sunday dinner. Although starters were on the menu they weren't doing them on the day we were there. The beef meat dish was a fine meal - so what's the veg options, well they only had one option - 3 bean bland casserole, no gravy/sauce for the spuds/veg. Very much an afterthought of a Sunday lunch for vegetarians. Bang a pie on or get some Quorn or falafel.
I would not recommend this place on Sunday for anyone with a vegetarian in their group as they will have a miserable meal.
All of these problems are easy fixes it's a shame they need pointing out.
We love Betws-y-coed. We were travelling to meet relations so stayed just one night. The staff in Glan Aber Hotel couldn't have been nicer. We felt very welcome. The room was grand and the food good. We had dinner and breakfast. Had a lovely walk around the town and met nice people especially in the church. Short drive to Swallow Falls which is worth the visit even if only passing through. Lovely memories of every visit and the Glan Aber.
My stepdaughter bought us a night at the Glan Aber hotel as a birthday present and we absolutely loved it. The location is perfect, the staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food was excellent. What was even better was the dog-friendliness, as we have two yorkies who have to go everywhere with us. In the evening we had a great dinner and then drinks under the heated umbrellas outside, it was a wonderful stay and I’d definitely return. Highly recommended for anyone visiting this beautiful part of Wales.
Stayed in the bunk house. The room wasn’t very clean , the window blind was bust and no en suite. For the price it may not be bad but you can stop at a much cleaner youth hostel. The hotel and bar were good. Breakfast was of a good quality
Single rooms are a bit cramped but once I upgraded to the double it was just fine. Breakfast is cooked fresh and it’s fierce tasty. Staff are friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the stay and its biker friendly with off street parking.
Great location, lovely staff. Our stay was a bit of a mixed bag, the room looks nice, and as if it's been recently decorated (room 21) but, looking a bit more closely, there's black mold in the bathroom (looks like someone's either done a half hearted job cleaning it...... Or it's been painted over) and I had to clean black mold from the cold tap, not good. Also please invest in some blackout blinds or curtains as we were woken very early due to the brightness of the room.
We had dinner and breakfast included in our Groupon deal, on the first night (Saturday) the good was really good and I couldn't fault it; breakfast was good and there was even vegetarian sausages available, but on the 2nd night (Sunday) we were informed it was Sunday roast or pies only (that had to be ordered on the Saturday) and that the only vegetarian option available was bean casserole...... Being vegetarian this was my only choice, and what a difference from the previous night. The bean casserole was probably the blandest vegetarian meal I've had in my 35 years of being vegetarian and in no way complemented the veg served with it, that whilst tasting freshly cooked was really dry as there was no sauce or gravy substitute with it..... It seemed they went with the cheapest, easiest option without any thought to taste. My husband did enjoy his beef Sunday roast, but even he was disappointed for me with my meal.
Whilst we did enjoy our time here these points did put a dampener on things and I don't think I'd return to this hotel due to these issues.
I bought a dinner, bed and breakfast deal plus hot tub access as a gift for my partner. We loved it. The location is perfect, the staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food was good. As previous reviews have said rooms are dated but this didn't bother us as bed comfy, hot power showets plus the location, food, hot tub access and friendly staff were what made it for us. Fairy Glen is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Snowdonia National Park, located within the Gwydir Forest. It's a secluded gorge and beauty spot along the Conwy River, offering enchanting views and picturesque surroundings. The hike to Fairy Glen is relatively manageable, with well-maintained paths and benches along the way for resting and taking in the stunning scenery. While some parts of the trail can be slippery and steep, it's generally accessible for most hikers.
A tranquil and quiet area to visit, the area has a small £1 admission fee via a gate, cash only in the box, once down there it can be very slippery so watch your step. Could have stayed there for hours listening to the water.

A stunning fairytale like setting and really back with nature at its finest. Today was 23 degrees Celsius and gave me a good hike for an hour. It's the kind of place you would like to keep secret and have it all to yourself. Beautiful.

A beautiful, tucked-away spot with a quiet charm. The steps down are steep, so take care if it’s wet. Parking and entrance are paid via honesty boxes—bring coins and please contribute to help maintain the site. A lovely place for a short walk and a moment of calm.
An extremely beautiful stretch of river in a gorge with rocks and pools. Peaceful and tranquil. The paths are rough with tree roots and the path to the bottom is very steep stone steps that can be slippery when wet. Well worth it to go to the bottom for the tranquil experience. There is a car park near the entrance with an honesty box to pay.
Best to visit early as there is only a small car park which costs £1 plus £1 entry for an adult. You can do a circular walk which is just under 1 mile and easy going it can be slippery in wet weather so wear some decent walking shoes.
Lovely place to visit, very unlevel but that is the whole appeal, and in its natural state.. leading down to gorge there are some steps but sturdy shoes etc needed and would be very slippery if wet. Dry when I visited..would definitely come again🥰
A truly spectacular and dreamlike experience. It doesn’t even feel like you are in the UK when you’re staring down the rapids of the river crashing over the rocks. Well signposted tracks and only £1 to enter - worth far more than that! I adore this place.
The Fairy Glen is well worth the trek but is definitely a proper hike. I was very glad that I had proper grip on my shoes. My travel companion only made it half way down. It was very picturesque.

Rhaeadr Y Graig Lwyd is a picturesque forest gorge and waterfall located in the final section of the River Conwy. The waterfall drops 50ft into a deep pool, offering stunning views from tree-topped walking paths and viewing platforms. Accessible via a natural path through the woodland, the area features steep and uneven paths with handrails for support.
Really lovely walk, however it is steep and a little slippery after rainfall. Beautiful views all the way down. Cafe was nice too we had drinks but good looked good. Toilet available and parking for both. £2 for waterfall walk cash and card accepted.

You get actual wilderness vibe. Silence of the woods with sound of rapidly moving water. Some trees having whole ecosystem on each branch. Mesmerising if you think about it. Viewpoints are well-fenced and has benches too. Autumn colors and fallen leaves made it picturesque.
Found this place while trying to find somewhere nice to stop in the middle of our long drive.

We paid £2 each to go through the gate to the waterfall walk and really enjoyed it.
Circular mostly easy route of half a mile which took us 30 mins (with stopping for photos)
Path not completely flat and some steps/hills but I wouldn't say it was challenging.
When we finished the walk we went into the cafe upstairs which was also really nice.

We shared the Snowden breakfast which was basically 2 of everything. Massive and very good quality food.

Lovely place to visit and enjoy the rapid waters and Waterfalls quite an easy path to take to get to it but some bits can be challenging in wet weather well worth it once you get there and some lovely scenery around
Small car park that is on the right of the main road so the postcode is just about 1 turn out from where you have to park. However the water and river-falls are gorgeous and worth the short 20 min walk through the forest and cliffside. You can keep walking further up till it flattens out. There is also another entrance just 10 mins up the road with a lay-by for parking if you just wishto see the river without the small walk
Cowyn Falls is such an uncelebrated and under appreciated hidden gem compared to the ever-popular Swallow Falls — and that’s part of its charm. Tucked away in peaceful woodland, the trail winds gently through leafy, rocky and root strewn paths with nature sounds until you reach the beautiful cascade. It feels like stumbling across your own secret spot, away from the tourist crowds. There’s free parking right by the entrance, a cosy café serving drinks and light bites, and even a little ice cream hut for sunny-day treats. At just £2 per person, it’s fantastic value, but worth noting the path isn’t accessible for those with walking difficulties. Tranquil, photogenic, and refreshingly uncrowded — Cowyn Falls is a perfect addition to any North Wales adventure.
What a wonderful place to visit. Parking was free and it was £2 per person to visit the falls (payable by cash or card).
We visited after a large amount of rain had fallen, and the river reminded me of a North American rapid with the water fiercely flowing down to the falls.
The walk was really nice. It went through a wooded area and followed the river along to the falls.
The scenery is very similar to Rogie Falls in Scotland, however, the rivers are definitely poles apart.

Beautiful spot to visit! There is free parking right in front of Conwy Falls Café, and I definitely recommend grabbing a nice coffee and one of their delicious sandwiches before or after your walk. There is free toilet as well. It is just few minutes from the car park to the waterfall entrance. Entry is £2 per person and card payments are accepted. The walk is short and scenic—about 20 minutes round trip from entrance to exit.

Been in today as needed a new harness and collar. Don't see many shops selling nonstop dogwear so normally buy online. Went in and was greeted by Jay. Very knowledgeable in what he sells. Fantastic little shop that only sells decent brands.
Had such a good experience coming in. Friendly and very helpful service. Absolutely nothing was any trouble fitting our dog for a new waterproof coat and harness. Products are amazing quality and great store all round.
Popped in today on the off chance they would have a harness to fit my chunky bulldog. Wow. What a brilliant service. Very helpful advice given & he walked out to strut his stuff a lot more comfortable than he went in. We even kitted out our other dog after advice for his pulling habit.

We stopped by here while on holiday as we forgot our dogs raincoat, the staff were so friendly and absolutely fantastic with our dog to help us pick the right raincoat for him. Having been to this shop in Wales, whilst on holiday without our furbaby, we had to guess the size for a coat. We purchased 2 (one for our own dog and one for my parents dog). Jay was very friendly and helpful in store. When we arrived home to Northern Ireland we realised to our dismay the one for our own furbaby was too big. I contacted the store mobile number and spoke to Megan who was lovely and kindly agreed to do an exchange via post. I sent the return back by recorded delivery. They let me know by email it had arrived and also let me know when they sent my exchange. They even provided the tracker number. My husband and I were delighted with the service and highly recommend this store.
This was our first visit to Canine & Co and certainly will not be the last.
Jay was very friendly and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the different ranges of harnesses there were and pointed out several that suited our intended use- for travelling in the car.
He then gently and confidently put our sprockerpoo into several, allowing us to walk our dog to see which seemed to fit the best.
We left very happy with our new harness and several natural treats for our dog- so glad that Canine & Co take the time to know whats best for our family members.

On the plus side... Nice looking big "leading light" sort of a shop on the high street stocking a decent range of goods.
On the not so plus side... They are certainly not shy with their prices, maybe they think their customers are minted sultan's ?
Staff are strategically placed and watch you like hawks which make the customer feel uncomfortable and untrustworthy whilst browsing.
I appreciate that store security is a necessity, however with heavy CCTV in place as well feels like an overkill for such a rural store.
Looks a great shop for holiday trinkets if in the area. Just be prepared for the grumpy staff working there. Especially if you’re standing in an isle where they want to go. As my wife found out when the staff member barged her out of the way , no recognition they had done it. No apology, just a filthy look from them like my wife had done wrong. Paying for items was like you had just ruined the till lady’s day .
usually enjoy our visit here as I get the tealights usually upstairs but we were treated like thieves during our visit by member of staff today on the first floor . didn't even try to hide what she was doing . absolutely shameful and embarrassing way to treat people without any reason and made us extremely uncomfortable. won't be going back and don't recommend this judgemental place. if it were a member of my staff at my store she would be out the door !
Of all the shops in Betws-Y-Coed this shop offers probably one of the better range of products. Staff were pleasant and helpful. It does feel a little old school in its structure but that’s a good thing given the monotonous nature of most of the shops in the area.

one of the best lakes in wales for fishing and paddle boarding, the wild brown trout are very beautiful and the water is extremely clear, there is free parking and toilets, fishing this lake is free and you don't have to pay, there are also really nice people who are just the best!

Simply put, get there, and get on the water. It's not a big lake, and the roads to access it's lovely remote location are fraught with drivers who seem to have left their common sense down in Betws Y Coed, but other than that it's wondrous. There's not much parking either, but there are benches with places for a BBQ, loads of spots to picnic and walk, the parking is free, and the toilets are open. Lovely place, best out of season.
Depends on how much company you want, the main part near the car park is always busy. But there are a few spots along the road or if you are up for a bit of a walk, turn left follow the lake around through the trees on the other side and up and over the rocks you come to .....private beach away from the caos.
Good walking around 2 lakes here. Forest tracks through the wooded ares make for easier walking. Water activities abound. Not a quiet spot when the sun is out on a weekend with lots of swimmers, paddle boards and canoes. Large car park that filled up quite quickly during our visit. Toilets on site open in summer. Good place for families with children of all ages.
Very scenic and peaceful spot, the road is narrow (with passing places) but only a short drive from Llanrwst and well worth a visit. There is parking at the lakeside (and toilets - but not always open). The lake is used by wild swimmers, canoeists, and paddle boarders, but even on a bright sunny May day did not feel overly busy.
There is a road that runs down the length of the lake, and eventually will bring you back via very minor roads into Llanwrst, or if you are not faint hearted, try the road through to Trefriw and onto either Llyn Cowlyd or Llyn Crafnant.
Easy walk and then dogs loved it. No sheep and plenty of little pebble beaches to swim from.

Depending on which way you drive up, one way is easier than the other. It’s quite steep and bumpy one way so it would need a confident driver. However the views are worth it!

Road was a bit sketchy to get to it.... White knuckles all the way up a steep windy single track. But worth the drive. Lots of little picnic tables and areas to sit and just relax.

We came here 4 years ago and had an excellent meal, revisited last night and had another excellent meal. The service was good, our waiter was really friendly and helpful for deciding on dishes, and both quality and quantity of food was spot on.
You can tailor the spice level of each dish from mild to super hot and we found these to be accurate as well as delicious!
We had a lovely evening , with calm music . We Visited this hotel recently and had Chicken Biryani and Chicken Kebab. All the items were served in large portions and were very tasty. They served extra-thick gravy with the biryani, and we absolutely loved the green chutney — no idea how they made it, but it was really good!
There are no words to describe the excellent service we received. We met a charming staff member named iago — the way he handled customers was impressive. Overall, it was a lovely experience!🥰👍

A brilliant experience from start to finish - a very warm and smiley welcome from front of house (who served us throughout), a good selection of drinks and some really authentic dishes on the menu - including a traditional alternative to onion bhaji 👌. The food was excellent. Very well presented and it all tasted delicious. The lemon sponge was very light and had a good taste of lemon, the home made profiteroles had plenty of filling, the scones were slightly warm and the home made blackcurrant jam was very good. We had a lovely afternoon and would highly recommend the afternoon tea! It was also super relaxing, sat in the window seat by the river 😊

Craig-y-Dderwen is an amazing place in a fantastic location. While the price reflects that, I did not for a moment feel as if I was overpaying for anything and it was totally worth it.
What makes this hotel even more worthwhile is the lovely staff and Michelle is by far the warmest, kindest and most amazing person you could ask to help make your stay beautiful and memorable!

I have never stayed here as I live locally but have visited a few times to enjoy a drink and the beautiful view. We always receive a warm welcome. It feels like a lovely secret place.
Lovely hotel set in beautiful grounds in a very peaceful and quiet area just a 15 min walk from Betws Y Coed. We had a riverside balcony room,which is well worth the extra money, which was very big with a seating area and a shower and separate bath in the bathroom. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and waffles were provided in the room.
Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.
I didn't stay here, I went to use the electric car chargers, but I was so impressed with the place we went back that evening to have dinner. You could say it was pricey at £55 for two courses or £65 for three but it's like all things in life you get what you pay for, and I thought the meal was worth every penny.
Outstanding. We booked the River lodge for 2 nights. It gave us the freedom and space yet with the convenient facilities to hand in the hotel.
This is the best property we have stayed in in North Wales
A hidden gem. We found this place by accident and it was the best beer garden in the area by a mile. Friendly staff were icing on the cake. Definitely recommended on a sunny day!

I arranged an adventure weekend for my family and I and it's safe to say that Seren Ventures canyoning experience was the highlight.
The route worked perfectly for building up our groups confidence along the way so we were all able to enjoy the more challenging area's of the canyon whilst our guide for the day, Dan, was sure to check everybody was comfortable with the tasks at hand.
If you find the time to take in your surroundings in between abseiling down waterfalls, jumping off cliff edges, and sliding down rock faces, you'll also appreciate that the journey down the canyon takes you through the most picturesque scenery through incredible forestry.
Our whole group thoroughly enjoyed the experience and I highly recommend this to anyone visiting north Wales.

This was our second adventure with Seren, and once again, it was absolutely outstanding. Trusting someone with the safety of your family in such extreme environments isn’t something we take lightly, but Dan, Andy, and the entire team are true professionals.
We’ve done the extreme gorge walk before, and this time we went canyoning — next up, we’re eyeing some guided mountaineering!
Honestly, I’d pay just to be in the stunning locations where these activities take place. But add in the thrills of slides, jumps, abseiling, and zip-lining? Just incredible. Highly recommended!
We booked with Seren Ventures as part of a stag do and had an epic day doing coasteering in the morning and rock climbing in the afternoon. Dan and Rich were our instructors and they were absolutely spot on — friendly, knowledgeable, and struck the perfect balance between safety and fun.
One of the standout things was how hands-on they let us be. They taught us proper, safe, and effective climbing techniques — including how to belay each other — which made the whole experience even more rewarding. It never felt like we were just along for the ride; we were properly involved.
Coasteering was an adrenaline rush with cliff jumps, sea scrambles, and loads of laughs. Climbing in the afternoon gave us the chance to challenge ourselves in a different way, and the instructors were always encouraging and supportive.
Highly recommend Seren Ventures if you're looking for a proper adventure in North Wales. Thanks again to Dan, Rich, and the team!
Had an amazing day doing the "Underground Adventure North Wales" with our guide Amanda. Such a fun and unique experience, (caving, zip lining, abseiling, rock climbing and boating across a flooded cave section), we cannot recommend this activity enough.
Booked the gorge scrambling with seren and had a great time. Before the booking I received a WhatsApp and email with full details of what to expect. Our guide Rich met us in the car park, and took time to get our family set up in the right wetsuits (he had loads of extra sizes as when you book there’s no guide to assess how big you might need), and prep us for what came ahead.
After that we had a short walk into the gorge itself, and we started to make our way up. Rich was kind and patient, particularly with the kids in the group, and had the confident people go first. In certain scenarios he was very specific with his safety instructions - ‘only step here as the rest is slippery’ etc, and it was clear he was deeply knowledgeable and experienced about the area. He took plenty of photos of us which he then sent me later, and we get very looked after throughout, with the highlight being the plunge pool at the very top, which he told us every season they snorkel to ensure no sharp sticks or stones lie in.

We had a great morning gorge walking with Seren adventures last week. Our guide Rich was a lovely guy with lots of local knowledge. I would recommend booking if you are a family as our 10 year old boy had a great time. We all felt completely safe and wouldn't hesitate to book with them again. The booking process was very easy and the follow up emails leading up to the day kept us kept well informed. Excellent adventure !
Had a brilliant morning with Rich today. We did the Gorge Scrambling, family of 3 and our son is 14. Sorted us out with wet suits and life jackets and helmets. Got to climb up pretty high through rocks and small waterfalls. Felt very safe with our instructor who took pics of us all. Definitely recommend it! Thanks Rich 😊

Beics Betws is a hidden gem in Betws-y-coed, offering an excellent golf course and bike rental services. Visitors can hire well-maintained traditional bikes or Bosch e-bikes for exploring the scenic trails around Betws y Coed. The friendly and helpful staff ensure that the bikes are ready for use, provide assistance with route selection, and offer tools and spares for a hassle-free experience.
Excellent place to hire a bike from. 100% use again. We hired two E-MTBs for the full day. They were well maintained, in good condition, clean and very easy to ride. They ensured the tyres were pumped and chain lubed before we set off. We had tool kit/tubes given to us if we had a puncture. We did their suggested 37km loop up to Llyn Geirionydd, then to Llyn Crafnant and finally over to Llyn Elsi. Really friendly, nice and easy to hire from. We hired on a Friday, and just dropped in at 10:30am without a prebooking and they had availability. Weekends might be busier. Absolutely beautiful views, cracking ride, well worth it! The E-MTBs were well worth the extra money to enable you to go that much further and smash it up those steep climbs. Will be back and will recommend to anyone in the area looking for bike hire.

Friendly & knowledgeable owners with clean, well serviced & powerful mountain e bikes. I'd really recommend the service, & ebikes are so much fun. We all felt like we had adopted a magic power & LOVED the exhilaration of accelerating up hills & covering a large area of outstanding beauty. We cycled pretty hard & felt exhausted at the end of the day, which was important to us too.
We went on the 2 lake, 4 hr loop, & came back to drop a friend who'd had enough & reprogrammed the Garmin (£5 extra , 1 per group, worth getting for easy peasy navigation) for the 1 lake loop for another 1.5 hrs. These loops each involved approx 30 mins of drink/snack/view stops.
The tracks are generally wide & very quiet. The laminated maps (optional) do show the narrow, more challenging cycle routes, which we were too nervous to try in case the heavy bikes were too unwieldy to navigate given our inexperience.
Massive thanks for our special day.

This was Sades first time on a bike in over 20 years, and she smashed out a 20+mile ride through the woods.
Lots of ups and downs, but easy on a E-bike, nice and safe, quiet, open easy to follow roads, we hired a Garman for £5 so we didn’t get lost, with pre programmed route.
We did the 3 lakes. As you can see from the photos, videos, stunning scenery, we got wet and was worth every minute.
Grayham was super friendly and extremely helpful.
Highly recommended of you wanted to see some of the woods and lakes and get some easy ish fitness In.
Hired 5 electric MBTs owners Louise and Graham very helpful and provided route ideas a map and Garmin that ensured our days cycling was enjoyable. Good quality bikes at a great hire price. Highly recommend.
I can’t thank Beics Betws enough for their kindness. I didn’t actually hire a bicycle, but when my friend had an accident nearby on his motorcycle, the team at Beics Betws went above and beyond to help us out. They selflessly lent me some tools, which allowed me to get the bike repaired enough to be safely rideable again. It was an act of genuine generosity that really saved the day. If this is how they treat people who aren’t even customers, I can only imagine the fantastic service they give to those hiring bikes. Truly top-class people – highly recommended!
Loved this, the owner is lovely and the bikes are a really high quality. We did the 16k route on the normal mountain bikes, a beautiful route with a very fun downhill at the end. Worth getting the satnav for ease. Cannot recommend enough!

Knowledgeable, patient and gone the extra mile (sorry !!) in fitting me in between dealing with bookings / customers. Stuck at it at resolved the issue. Cannot fault the service provided.

Saint Mary’s Church, located in Betws-y-Coed, is an Anglican Parish Church with a rich history dating back to 1870. Designed by architect Owen Gethin Jones, it features traditional Norman era architecture with arcades and pointed arches. The church holds significance as the home of Britain's first artists' colony and is designated as Grade II* by Cadw.
Stopped off for a little nosey when visiting this beautiful little village. The architecture is incredible, both external and internal. Wonderful stain glass. A truly wonderful building.

Stunning little church in the town centre. Well worth a look to admire the architecture (medieval looking but is actually transitional Norman style and was built in the late 1870s) and stained glass windows. You can leave a donation via contactless payment 😇
Had to pay a £60 parking fine due to a faulty system which does not record the time of entry in spite of there being APNR Cameras. If you pay at the meter ( ridiculously poor network coverage makes it near impossible to pay online ), the time on the ticket is not the time you will have to leave by. The church isn’t worth the hassle from this PCN scam. Tourists stay away!
St Mary's Church in Betws-y-Coed is a truly stunning place of worship. From its stunning architecture to its rich history, this church has so much to offer. Another disgruntled car park user. Didn't get my full registration in the machine and no back button to rectify. Paid fee and left within time then received a penalty notice, I've appealed and provided ticket and evidence of payment, my first 2 letters of my registration were on the ticket. Appeal not accepted and a £20 fine. Just called to let the church know and the chap wasn't interested. If it wasn't for visitors your town would be desolate. I understand you get the parking fees but initial parking keep the fines. Perhaps you need a better deal with them, they must be raking it in.

We found the gallery by total accident as we decided to look at the railway platform.
There are some interesting pieces to view and we loved the animals created out of plastic waste and the clear message this makes.
It’s a beautiful spot, tucked away from the arcade outside and is well worth a look in.

If you enjoy large scale photos of naked men in bondage type rope ties but with giant monkey heads instead of regular heads, then you'll find this place great. Also great if you like tables of vacuum sealed fake body parts. There's also sculptures made from bottle tops/waste from the beach etc, which would be appropriate for children to see, if it weren't for the rest of it being very inappropriate for kids.
A guidance sign indicating not suitable for kids would be useful, because for all intents and purposes it's made it to be an ecological awareness art gallery.

A unique place. Certainly like nothing else. Maybe a bit lost on such an idilic village. Also some better signage pointing you onto the platform to begin with would be better. I liked the orangutan statue the best. Lots of merch to buy but not sure why you would. Well at least it's keeping the local art student employed.

What a beautiful Art Gallery. We called in today whilst on holiday to find something for our new home. The owner was kind and very knowledgeable. We found a very unique, talented artist called Melanie Williams and fell in love. Stuck between three of her original art pieces, the gentleman left us to discuss. There was no pushy sales, which we loved. We spent 20 minutes discussing and he interacted with our teenage children. A collection of really REALLY amazing talent here. These artists are gems. The quality of work in all pieces are beyond words. Wide variety of pieces (e.g. paintings, prints, glass, sculptures, pottery, metalwork, woodwork, fabric, rare art related equipment, dioramas etc. and the list goes on!).

St Michaels Church, built in the 14th century, stands as the village's oldest structure. Over time, it fell into disrepair after being superseded by St Marys Church in 1873. However, its luck changed when it was lovingly restored in 1994 and reopened to the public. Nestled amidst picturesque surroundings and embraced by ancient trees, this charming old church exudes a sense of tranquility and beauty.
Want a gate to Otherworld? Want to commune with the Fae? Long to be shrouded in peace and the contemplative? St. Michael's Old Church is all the above and more. There's a reason I've posted only photos of the ancient cemetery—THIS is the real sacred space that you'll want to stroll and rest in for the whole day.

A pity the church was closed when we tried to visit but the graveyard was so interesting it was still worth the time to look around. Some disruptive construction right next to church where a pedestrian bridge across the river is being replaced.
Picturesque & ancient old church, beautiful surroundings and key is available over the road at the Railway Museum.

St Michael's Old Church is the oldest building in Betws y Coed.
The church was built in the 14th century on the banks of the River Conwy. It is thought to have replaced an older medieval prayer house, betws in Welsh.
The church contains a collection of fine medieval features. A life-size stone effigy of Gruffydd ap Dafydd Goch lies near the chancel. A relative of Prince of Wales Llewelyn ap Gruffydd, Gruffydd ap Dafydd Goch died in battle between 1370 and 1380.
Fragments of medieval stained glass can be found at the top of the east and west windows.
The medieval font is small and square, featuring a simple carving of leaves and an arch of chevrons.
A restoration took place in 1843 when the north aisle was added but Betws y Coed soon outgrew St Michael's with the arrival of the London-Holyhead road and the railway. In 1873, St Mary's Church opened and St Michael's was left to decay. A significant restoration took place in 1994 to save the building. It was declared redundant in the year 2000.

This is a great spot to enjoy a hearty breakfast, making it the perfect way to start your day during a trip to Snowdonia. The café had a cozy atmosphere and a lovely view of the river, making it the perfect setting for a relaxing morning.
Everything was cooked to perfection with good flavours and generous portion. The coffee was rich and smooth, and the service was friendly and efficient.

I had a great few days hiking in the Wicklow Mountains with Jono. He enthusiastically imparts his knowledge of hiking, climbing, and nature. He is very patient, exudes calm, and matches the tempo of the walk to the group's abilities. Also, he cooks a great chilli con carne. Happy days.
I've done two mountain skills courses with Jono - I knew after the first one that if I was going to do any further learning in the mountains, he was my guy.
Jono has a great teaching style, extremely patient with all students and runs his courses with the right amount of theory and practical work. The organisation of this courses is top class. His enthusiasm for the outdoors shines through in all that he does. He has incredible experience which is willing to share with anyone looking to progress further and he's genuinely a super person to have leading a group and to learn from.
I had the best day out with Jono in North Wales. It was my second time out with him and he knew my level of skill and what I'd be capable of. He's not just a really good climber, but also a fantastic teacher and all round great person to spend time in the mountains with. We scrambled up Tryfan, which involved some climbing too. I had never been to North Wales, despite living in Ireland and Ogwen Valley, part of Snowdonia National Park is a playground for people who love being outdoors. It's also stunning and Jono is really knowledgeable about the area. There's so much to do and Jono has so many ideas, I'll just have to return for some climbing/scrambling and hiking again. Jono was absolutely fantastic in helping us set up our first club trip away. Having Jono as our guide with local knowledge, a bus license and amazing communication skills made the whole experience flawless. The routes we were guided on offered everything we wanted in our first trip to Wales. Jono helped us with specific training for climbing in the Himalayas. We travelled from Ireland to North Wales to practice scrambling, jumaring and abseiling. Jono put together an excellent weekend where we practiced all of those skills. He also provided expert advice on mountaneering boots, helping us to pick a very confortable pair that made all the difference for our summit push! We became confident in the skills we learned, and that training was extremely valuable during our trip. For sure, a big contribution in making our trip successful! I totally recommend Jono to level-up your mountaneering skills! 🏔🌟
I had a great couple of days rock climbing in North Wales with Jono.
It was my second time out with him and he put together a perfect plan for the two days to really progress my skills and get on some exciting routes.

We had the pleasure of jono guiding us up snowdonia over the weekend great guide so friendly and making sure everyone got safely around the moutains also making sure we were well fuelled and hydrated loads of stops to take in the views and look back when we would forget to and the baked treats were unbelievable. 10/10 and hope to hike with jono again.

Nestled in the village of Betws-y-Coed, Swallow Falls is a must-see natural wonder. It is the largest continuous waterfall in Wales and offers breathtaking views from both the south and north banks. You can easily access it by parking at the Swallow Falls hotel or by taking a scenic walk through Gwydir Forest on the Swallow Falls walking trail.
Easy access. Few view points. Beautiful waterfall. Entry fee £2 per person.
Space for few cars just by entry but also more spaces to leave the car by the road in both directions from entry.

Really pretty waterfall a very short drive from Betws-y-Coed. There is a charge of £2 to go through a turnstile gate. Definitely worth a stop. I went all the way down the stairs, but the view is prettiest at the top
Though it was a rainy day this place like the milk falls of India, is so beautiful. The eerie silence marred by speeding vehicles, otherwise so serene is this place . One has to walk steep steps created to reach the flowing waters from a safe distance. Listen to the water flowing and wind blowing . Autumn filled colourful trees makes it heaven . Just £2 entrance one can spend hours listening to the water falls. There is a shallow falls restaurant nearby where one can have good food hot coffee reasonably priced. Toilets are well maintained and friendly staff . Worth visiting. Memorable day
£2 each to get in, well worth it the water falls are amazing, well set out with view points, steps and handrails to make it more accessible.
A must-visit, easily accessible, with just £2 entrance — a treat for your eyes if you enjoy spending time surrounded by the sounds of nature.
Visited early evening during the first week of July 25, nobody else about, great idea for the £2 pay as you enter turnstile (card or cash 👍) falls are not spectacular but well worth the walk down the very well kept steps and pathway. Parking in adjacent lay-by or pay car park across the road next to the pub.
Absolutely stunning. Mother nature at her finest. Best experienced after heavy painful, it is truly spectacular!

Llyn Elsi is a shallow reservoir created by damming two lakes in 1914 and is known for being stocked with trout. It's located near Betws-y-Coed in Snowdonia National Park, offering a great escape from the crowds. The walk to the lake is steep but rewarding, providing stunning views of Snowdonia. The path around the lake offers plenty of spots for picnics and peaceful moments.
Great walk up to a real hidden peace of beauty on the edge of the biggest mountains of Snowdonia.
Not easy by any means and depending from where you start, is not very sign posted. (We started on the Fordd Craiglan path) but is not too difficult to find if you have your phone.
Took a little over 45 minutes and that way can re somewhat steep. Walk around is also 45 minutes at a slow pace with a decent path (not paved).

Never before have I encountered a more secluded and challenging lake to visit by car than Llyn Elsi.
We first began our journey on foot - a 1.3 mile journey that should have taken approximately 41 minutes. However part way into the journey, up what felt like an almost vertical incline, we realised that we were out of our depth and turned back to make the journey by car instead.
Looking on Google Maps, the journey seemed pretty straight forward. Little did we know that we would be met with private roads, dead ends, and a road path seemingly taken from an advanced off-road course. In all seriousness, had we been driving anything less capable than an SUV/MPV, we would have most certainly struggled to complete the trip to the summit.
I’m a little disappointed to say, that reaching the top was quite anti-climatic considering the effort made. Seeing past the dull, dreary weather that we had been cursed with, still we couldn’t fathom what all of the fuss was about.
On the plus side, for those that prefer solitary locations, somewhere to think, or not even think at all, Llyn Elsi is the epitome of that. There wasn’t a soul in sight. We had the whole lake to ourselves.
If being somewhere on your own is your preference (and you’re prepared for the journey), then Llyn Elsi is the place for you. If you desire something more than this, then sadly I would suggest that you may want to consider another location.
If you're after some piece and quiet away from the crowds a summers day can bring to snowdonia then look no further. Llyn Elsi is a beautiful lake above the town of Bets y Coed. Its a short but very steep walk up to the top.
A path runs around the lake with plenty of spots to stop for a picnic and take in the views of snowdonia.
If you love quiet spots with amazing views then please visit Llyn Elsi.

We were a stag party of 10 and had Neil and Dan as our instructors. We started the day gorge scrabbling and it was awesome. Our group was mixed ability with one guy who wasn't able to swim, that didn't stop him from chucking himself off water falls and climbing through some narrow gaps in the rocks. The water was surprisingly refreshing and not too cold. Our instructors we professional and safety focused at all times and ensured we all worked together to get to the top of the gorge. This was an absolutely fantastic experience and I can't wait to give it another go.
After a quick lunch in Betws-y-Coed, we went to our abseil location. The drop was huge and a couple of us rediscovered a fear of heights we forgot we had. Once again, our instructors talked us through everything and always had our safety in mind. The we all had an absolutely fantastic time, especially the groom, and we can't wait to come back and try the other activities North Wales Active have to offer

Did gorge walking for the first time with North Wales Active a couple of years ago (sorry for the late review). The instructor was fantastic, all the equipment was provided and the safety briefings throughout were thorough and we felt we were in safe hands at all times. It was definitely an adrenaline packed afternoon and one we will definitely do again through this company. Highly recommended
Booked the canyoning experience for my brother’s 40th birthday and had the most amazing time! We had Rob as our instructor, who was hilarious but extremely professional! He made us feel very at ease, and even encouraged me to jump into the water when I began to chicken out. Love local companies like these, and will definitely be using them again!

There is a wide range of crafts, jewellery and boutique clothing on the ground floor at the Galeri Betws Y Coed. On the first floor there is a regularly changing selection of good paintings, prints and drawings. We were looking for a rug but they hadn't the size and colour we wanted in the gallery. The helpful and knowledgeable staff went to a lot of trouble to contact the maker and organise one to be made for us. If you are in the area do pop in and look around.

Easy to book online, good value at £35 for 18 holes - a 9 hole course with varied tees on each 9. Stunning location in a lush plain (almost entirely flat) between two rivers surrounding by green hills. Not long, no par 5s, but challenging with no easy holes. Many par threes are 200-210 yards off the yellows. Well kept, very good greens. Only downer was no way to get snacks or drinks - bar was closed and coffee machine was card only - so bring a drink and sandwich from the bakery in town. Would overall recommend for a class round at good called while holidaying in the area.
Played last week after 4.00 the course was in excellent condition despite recent rain. It was very quiet but the few members I met were very helpful and friendly and I will certainly be returning. Either take cash for the honesty box or book and pay online through golf now. Highly recommended.
Lovely hidden gem of a golf course. Flat nine hole course tucked away behind the busy Betws-y-Coed high street. It’s only £12 for 18 holes after 4pm. Be sure to ring ahead though as some mornings are club mornings and visitors can’t play.

It was such a nice experience we had in Fforest caffi. We are really starving after doing activities in the zipworld and went for our lunch in this caffi. We are worried as the coach going to the railway is every hour and unfortunately we missed it. The staff of the caffi help us find a cab to pick us up. Very friendly staff. Lovely young man served me here today at around 13:00 not sure of his name but felt it deserved giving a 5 star review for his help and customer service !
The POS system wasn’t working, and I ended up waiting over 30 minutes with no one able to process my payment. Meanwhile, there was a huge queue at both the tills and fuel pumps. To make matters worse, I was charged an extra £4 on top of my fuel because they couldn’t take payment properly, and I even received an unpaid fuel alert just so they could get me to pay. Really poor experience.
Home fire large bag of kiln dried logs is £5.95 on their website. This Shell station charged me £31.00 for two bags. Highway robbery and price gauging for sure. I’ll be contacting consumer watchdog.

They completely ran out of both petrol and diesel on Friday night (despite being the nominated petrol station for a major karting event at a nearby track), and on Saturday night they did not have ANY proper drinks in stock (eg water, orange juice, etc) - only alcohol and "energy drinks". Outrageous, considering it's a shop based in a holiday resort for hikers during a major holiday.
Toilets out of order, shop assistant extremely rude and unhelpful. Happily take £100 of petrol but terrible service. Where has she been using the toilet if they're out of order? Fix them!!!!!
Great Place for Fuel 24/7. Costa Coffe Machine there No Beer Pleanty of Snacks like Choccolate Crisps etc, You Get Lovely Sarnies and pleanty of Fizzy Drink choices aswell as different Choices of Flavoured and Plain Water
I'm local and use the garrage on a regular basis. Some staff at this station have no respect for the Welsh language and the fact that many of us support the business all year round. I have driven in many European countries and always make sure that I can at least count to 10 in the country's language. In Shell Betws y Coed, without fail the cashier does not accept the pump number in Welsh e.g. I say 'un', she will insist on saing 'one'! I often wonder whether this is arrogance or ignorance.
