Caernarfon Castle, a World Heritage fortress located by the river, has a rich history dating back to the Norman Conquest of England in 1066. The castle was built by Hugh d'Avranches, Earl of Chester, and played a significant role in Welsh history. Today, visitors can explore the castle's museum which showcases the history of Wales' oldest infantry regiment spanning over 300 years.
Visited today with family and had a fantastic time! Having visited a number of castles over the years, I was really impressed with how well kept the entire castle was without losing it's history. It is an immense place to explore with loads of intact towers and ramparts to explore and get unbelievable views over the town. The entry fee is very reasonable and they offer a range of discounts including free carer tickets and blue light discount. Inside the ground is uneven which is to be expected but efforts have been made to create ramps where possible to make it slightly wheelchair accessible. Inside the grounds you will also find a cafe and toilets. I do want to make a special mention of the Changing Places disabled toilet. The fact that there is a place that you can take any disabled person and easily change them is amazing and deserves a special mention. The fact that you have a full size adult changing bed with hoist is a fantastic facility to have. The castle doesn't have dedicated parking however there is a pay and display car park right next to the castle so it might as well be considered dedicated parking.

For a short break between train journeys, we arrived on the Welsh Highland Railway and visited the castle. It was our first visit and we enjoyed our time walking around. Our grandson managed the narrow steps up and down the towers. We had about an hour and it was enough time to walk around most of the site. It was a five minute walk from the station. The towers have narrow steps which might prove a challenge and the ropes help. The views from the top of the castle were amazing, across the harbour and out to sea, and towards Snowdonia. A great place to bring children and the lift to view the castle is a bonus.
Anthony H — Google review
Was hard to find parking, while walking up to castles, lots of places to eat/ shop. They had audio guided tours, a video explaining the castle, you are able to climb the tower ruins, and there is a museum of badges of honor, as well as a military museum. The staff was friendly, and told us to see the video first, and where to go after. This is one of my favorites, out of the seven, I visited. Explained about the ties with The Prince of Wales. Very informative.

Loved it. Lots of history here. This castle is well preserved and authentic looking. This alone makes it 5 stars. Castle fans will have fun here. But! This means danger as well. The spiral staircase can be dangerous to say the least. Especially in the down pour that we were in. Many of the steps are only a couple inches wide, barely enough for a toe or heel. You're given a rope (soaking wet in our case) to hang into as you climb up or down. If you explore more, you'll find you can get to to the walls with regular stairs. And if you think even those are too difficult, there is an elevator. Ask the staff to direct you to it. The museum is interesting, but has very little to do with the castle itself, more about war in general. There are recorded voice guides you can listen to if you pay the £3 price for the device. I'm not sure why this has a cost when the same device at castell coch was free.
Trevor — Google review
It’s a good experience for a few hours; plenty of passageways to explore and views across the town, harbour and Menai Straights. The military museum within the walls of the castle is worth noting if you are interested in such things. There is a coffee shop within the grounds and toilets too.
Mal J — Google review
Spent 2hrs with a toddler and baby going up and down towers, running around the walls. Toddler had a fantastic time, with close supervision at all times (large drops off walls, very steep steps, etc). Baby needed to be in a carrier as pushchair is obviously not going up into the towers. There is a raised area (above the great hall) which has got lift access, which offers lovely views and gives you the same sort of experience as climbing the towers, so don't feel out of it you have limited mobility. Great baby change and disabled changing facilities - very clean.
Terry J — Google review
This is a great castle to visit! A few more slightly finished rooms allow you to get more of a sense of how things would have looked than some other castles we’ve visited. There are also some rooms with more of an actual exhibit in them that help teach some of the history as well. Interesting to learn about the ceremony that took place here when Charles was invested as Prince of Wales. Great views from the top walls and turrets! There is also a very in depth museum about the Royal Welch Fusiliers inside the castle walls.
Kate D — Google review
Fabulous place, wear good comfortable shoes there are lots of steps which are obviously, old, worn, wet, steep, narrow etc but worth the climb up the towers, museum in one part, lovely new sculptures dotted about the place. Little outdoor cafe area for drinks, sandwiches and cakes which is very reasonably priced, 2 coffees and 2 cakes for £10. We were there over 2 hours but could have spent more time, if you only want to go up a couple of towers do 2 at opposite ends to get different views and perspectives. Little shop sells lovely locally handmade items as well as usual Cadw/English Heritage pencils etc. Well worth a visit and Caernarfon town looking good too, especially the area within the castle walls. Car park is in the shadow of the castle, see pictures for price, public toilets in car park as well

Food was amazing and the view breath taking. We wanted to visit the castle but stopped first at this lovely pub for food and we loved it. We will most definitely be back again. I totally recommend it.

The food was excellent; fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from start to finish. The views were stunning, adding to the relaxed atmosphere. The beer was cold, crisp, and refreshing. Overall, a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this place for great food, service, and scenery.

Had a great time at the pub. The food was delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was relaxed and cozy. Everything was clean and well organized. I would definitely recommend this place and would gladly visit again
Yurii R — Google review
Great location and views over to Angelsey. Had dinner here and it was tasty . Service was good and the young men doing the waiter service and bar were really polite and efficient. The only thing was the toilets were poor. They smelt bad and needed cleaning. On the wall was a vending machine selling dodgy, love aid tablets. This looked terrible. Added to the seedy toilet. This was the men's toilet. Get rid of it. Employ a good cleaner. Being dog friendly is a pub bonus.
Maggie A — Google review
I visited the Anglesey Arms with two friends mainly for an overdue catch up and a couple of drinks, the sun was shining and the location of this place is second to none! It was very busy when we arrived but the staff were quick to serve. The only thing that annoyed us was the wasps as we decided to sit outside but that’s not the pub’s fault, it didn’t ruin what was otherwise a very pleasant afternoon
Hannah — Google review
First visit for a few years because it became shabby, service got very slow, tables didn't get wiped very often and the wait for food was so long I could have swam to Anglesey and back. Called in a couple of days ago with a friend who was staying with me from London and thought I had walked into a different place. The new owner has made it cleaner and nicer, he is far more welcoming than the last time we went. I can't comment on the food as we didn't eat but we will go back now we know it has changed. Great views across the sea, great sunsets and plenty of seating outside too. Definitely worth a visit now

Called in for food, excellent service, tasted amazing and the welcome for us especially as we had a little dog was really nice, even gave him a free sausage 😋 defo be back.

Cafe
Breakfast restaurant
Caffi Maes, located at 4 Castle Square, is a beloved family-owned coffee house in Caernarfon. The cafe offers a wide range of high-quality hot drinks and delicious nibbles. Visitors praise the friendly and efficient staff as well as the clean and tidy environment. The menu boasts an extensive selection of breakfast options available all day, with all dishes cooked fresh to order. Guests can enjoy their meals on three different floors, including outdoor seating overlooking the castle and market square.
What a lovely café to be found in almost the closest position you can be to the castle. The service is fast and the prices are reasonable (cheaper than the more chic neighbouring cafes). I ordered a flat white and a bacon and egg breakfast bap. I was blown away by its massive size and I thoroughly enjoyed the homemade feeling it had. An excellent start to the day, fully recommend if you are in the area.

Fabulous food in a fabulous location, right by the castle. You would expect somewhere so close to the castle to be touristy and expensive but this was anything but that. Really quick service and great food. We had 2 main meals, 2 pints of Wrexham lager and a kids meal for £33. Would definitely recommend and return
David M — Google review
Absolutely stunning breakfast here this morning, the best in Caernarfon (we’ve tried a few 😆). Will be back when we are next here in a couple of weeks x
Dawn L — Google review
Fantastic location on the The town square, indoor seating but we take a table outside with a view of the 12th Century Castle and town walls. Best coffee in town (unsweetened oat milk !! Food menu small and simple but excellent. I can recommend the bacon and egg bap. Crispy good quality bacon with the fried egg cooked but the yolk still runny (can say I’ve never been so lucky ever before when eating out) Service is leisurely, which for me is good when food is cooked well. If food comes up quickly that says to me that a microwave is involved 😡 Personnel I’d like cafés would move way from sachets of condiments and go back to bottles - from an environment point of view moving away from single use plastic which I can never open to more sustainable bottles or even little paper cups of the sauce you request.
Jo D — Google review
Probably one of the better lunch cafes in Caernarfon. The number of locals using it is always a good litmus test. Bit of a wait to order at the counter, but the food was excellent and that is what matters. Good choice and very tasty. Can get very busy, although there are seats upstairs and if the weather is good outside, so lunch early to bit the rush.
Steve H — Google review
Serves a great breakfast and coffee. Bonus is the small Breakfast, half the size of full breakfast at half the cost. Lovely sausage, bacon and eggs, and nice size to set you up for the day. Friendly service, and nice outdoor seating when weather is appropiate. Inside can be a bit noisy in the back.

Lovely community facility. Went to see David Attenborough's new film "Ocean" would highly recommend both the film and the venue.

**4/5 Stars** Caernarfon Castle is absolutely beautiful and steeped in fascinating history. One of the highlights was learning about the Welsh involvement in the war—really moving and informative. It’s a brilliant place to explore, but be prepared for lots of steps! Some are quite steep and uneven, so it’s not the easiest to navigate. I definitely felt it in my legs for a couple of days afterwards! There’s a small cafe just outside the castle, but unfortunately the second one was closed during our visit, so the open one was quite busy. We ended up heading to a nearby Costa instead. Still, it’s a fantastic castle to visit and a must for history lovers. Definitely worth the trip!

Excellent small theatre/cinema with a great bar and vibe. You get really close to the performance and good sound. Further work ongoing to extend the venue to bring more screens to allow more choice of films. Bar very reasonable and a good choice of beers, wine and spirits. Outside area overlooking the dock to relax and chill with a cold beer and a meal is a bonus, especially on a hot day.

Nemo Fish & Chips is a family-owned restaurant located in the historic town of Caernarfon. They specialize in classic fish and chips, offering fluffy cod fillets coated in their own crispy batter and fried to your preference. The restaurant provides indoor seating with a clean and tidy environment, while also offering outdoor tables for warmer days. Customers have praised the generous portions of food at reasonable prices, with particular highlights being the delicious curry and friendly staff.
Me and my boyfriend got chips sausage and curry and honestly, best curry I've had. The food is lovely. Staff do seem a little young but in comparison to what the other reviews say, they're definitely not rude or judgemental. It's clean inside and overall is actually really good! Prices are reasonable too! Definitely recommend!
Alannah ( — Google review
Not a friendly place at all, the staff is rude and they even charge each ketchup packet even when you buy food from them. My daughter did not want to eat from there but the rest of us did. They kicked her out and we would not have eaten there but we had already paid for our food so we had no choice. Our tour guide said this town does not receive a lot of tourists and with staff like this I can surely understand why. Food was ok except for the black chips…
Andrea S — Google review
Unless absolute necessary, DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED PENNIES HERE. I ordered a "regular"cod, chips, mushy peas and a can of Pepsi. Basically, for £16.50 , I was served a tray of slop. It should be pretty standard that if you own a chippy , perfect crispy batter should be standard. But, as per the picture, this is clearly a pancake wrapped around a small piece of fish , not a regular piece. The one star is for the pepsi 🤦‍♂️
Chris W — Google review
Best fish and chips I have ever eaten. The battery wasn't thick and stodgy like most places and the chips were cooked to perfection! Worth every penny. They even still give away scraps which you don't find often. I would drive over from Surrey just to come here.
Theresa U — Google review
Visited over the weekend, hoping to enjoy some fish & chips. The fish was ok, the chips were disgusting, black and green, not what you would expect for paying £13, they wasn't fit for consumption. The location is in prime position next to the castle and could be a gold mine if they food was edible.
Vivienne H — Google review
The staff were efficient and took our order, no smile or pleasantries.. They made our food to order. The food was good but my girlfriend noted the size of her fish; it was meant to be small but was tiny! A standard fish finger is bigger. We ate f&c the next day at our hotel, 50% more expnsive but better quality and 100% bigger.
J C — Google review
Best fish & chips I’ve ever had. Staff was fun to talk with, too. And it didn’t strike me as a tourist trap; it seemed like a great local place that just happens to be by a big attraction. Simple. Unpretentious. Modestly priced. Good food. Authentic. Visiting the Caernarfon castle? Come for the castle, then go to Nemo’s across the street as a bonus.

First time visit. Never heard of the chain before. We hadn't booked a table but there was plenty available. The service was very good and staff very friendly. The food was of a high standard and just enough to avoid feeling overly full. Everything was reasonably priced, so no complaints there! I would definitely return again! (Friendly staff makes such a difference!)

Great place to have a meal. We went early on a Thursday eve and took advantage of the mains for £5 offer. Starters were a good size as were puddings and they were on offer too. The food was hot but my fish was a little grey looking inside the batter and the mushy peas just a solid block. All the other food was good though especially the desserts (brownie and Cadbury choc) . But the best bit was Matt who collected our orders and served our food . He was friendly efficient and made us feel very comfortable and not at all rushed . Thankyou
Susanne S — Google review
We were first greeted by extremely rude male waitress who was happy to send us on our way to other restaurants around. Thankfully Mat sorted us a table and took good care of us the whole evening even with how busy it was when we first arrived. Food was typical to the place and view to the harbour was lovely 😊
Vilma K — Google review
Great service! Food was served fast. Both our hamburgers missed bacon. In practically no time the waiter was back with bacon. No discussions, no fuss. Just taking care of us, the customers. Food was tasty and reasonably priced too. Great views over the harbour with beautiful sunset.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five Stars! Had breakfast at **Table Table** and it was absolutely perfect. The staff were all superb — greeting everyone with genuine smiles and positive energy. It really makes a difference when the team enjoys what they do! A special mention to **Katie**, who made the experience even better. I’d happily spend a few more hours with her just to learn more Welsh words and enjoy the friendly chat. Diolch yn fawr, Katie! ☕🍳✨

Another pub who have 2 members of staff doing the work of 6. We were told it was a 45 min wait for food, even though the place was practically empty, it took about 55 mins. The food wasn't too bad, although the chips were very hard. The pub has lovely views of the harbour, although the windows need a good clean. Not a bad experience but typical of the big chain pubs

Absolutely 5 stars for Nicola and Katie! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Despite it being an incredibly busy time, both ladies delivered outstanding service with a smile. Looking for a late curry after a long walk, we were initially hesitant as the restaurant was quiet. The decoration was simple but once inside we were made to feel very welcome. My partner and I fancied an Indian meal while on an overnight stay in Caernarfon. We were not disappointed as the food was delicious and the portions were a good size. This restaurant has recently been taken over by new owners who will be updating the menu and decor soon. I love finding places like this ! Really good home cooked food. Hot, fresh, tasty with good quality ingredients. The place isn't fine dining and linen table cloths but it is absolutely worth a visit - the atmosphere is nice, not too loud - you can easily talk to each other - the service was great. I think what I liked most was ... the meal feels 'honest' - the presentation is nice enough but you really get the impression that real effort has gone into the food - someone really likes cooking and they are good at it. We will definitely visit again.

Stayed here for two nights located near the town square. My room was a double bedroom called Blodeuwedd. It was a large room with a large bathroom installed with a large bath tub with integrated rainfall shower. Probably the largest room I have stayed in this year for my jants The double bed was massive, looks like two queen beds bolted together, you can feel the ribs of the beds where they meet. Though comfortable it was too firm for my liking and the pillows were all a little firm, but that are my preference. They could had provided two firm and two soft pillows so you can have a choice. The room came with the usual travel kettle and tea and coffee sachets, a wee smart tv (remote works fine but couldn't get Youtube to work on it ???). An iron is located outside the room if you need to use it. Free WiFi. The bathroom basin drains slowly but I think it is to do with the pop up basin plug. The room very clean, fresh and warm. In my haste in booking the room I missed the bit where the room came without breakfast, which I was later informed by the the owner was due to the current situation, however, looking at past reviews they were serving food and drink a month ago, so is it lack of staff or booking that they didn't want to hire/employ extra staff as other places are now serving breakfast? I went round the corner at Wetherspoons and had a full breakfast with a latte (£7). I must stress that the place is located across from a pub, as the room is not double glazed I could hear the music/karaoke being played/sung so if you are a light sleeper beware. My first night was on a Sunday night and you could hear the place and also hear people as they walked past and being loud. The odd occasion you also heard 'boy racers' driving past. An apartment opposite is also getting renovated and a large scaffolding light is switched on which beams through the window all night so make sure you have the curtain closed properly. The other pro's is that the place is located near the castle and eateries are all located nearby.

We stumbled across this little place on our last morning in Wales, we really wish we had found it on day one as would have loved to have come for food one evening. The team there were really friendly even the chef was out chatting to us. If we come back to Caernarfon we will be making a beeline for Ty Castell for food.

Food was absolutely beautiful. Love Tapas and this was one of the nicest I've tasted. Great service too.

Booked a table here for my mum's birthday, the food was beautiful and the waitresses were so lovely and helpful! There isn't a disabled toilet but the entrance itself is wheelchair accessible so definitely manageable. Only thing I would say is that there were certain things that were unavailable on the menu which we didn't find out until after we had ordered. Other than that it was great!

Day 2

East side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the east side side of town. Start the day off with Black Boy Inn Four & Six Restaurant & Bar, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Caer Rufeinig Segontium / Segontium Roman Fort. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

The Black Boy Inn Four & Six Restaurant & Bar is a historic medieval inn in Wales, known for its locally sourced Welsh dining and seafood specials. It is one of the oldest pubs in Wales, offering a great selection of beers and comfortable ancient rooms for those brave enough to stay the night. The inn's surroundings include Caffi Maes and the smallest bar in Wales, perfect spots to enjoy local food and watch the world go by.
Great place to stay, central location, room was really and had everything we needed. Staff were super friendly. Dinner was great quality and good value with no waiting. Only downside is the lack of parking, though a short walk away is free parking after 16:30 till 10:00

Stayed here this weekend (2 nights). Fantastic pub and cosy rooms, really friendly staff. The pubs has two bars plus a restaurant area, all of which have a great atmosphere and classic pub feels. We had breakfast included which was a help yourself to drinks and cereals/ yogurts/ fruits plus a cooked option which you order. Went for the Welsh breakfast both mornings which was good. Also ate in the bar one evening and had wings to start followed by the burger. You can order from the table using a QR code however that didn't include the specials so we had to order from the bar in the end. Not a problem at all. Good location next to the castle. Would definitely recommend this place.

Fantastic experience at The Black Boy Inn! The food was spot on — fresh, full of flavour and served nice and hot. The beer was great too, really good selection and perfectly poured. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was relaxed but lively at the same time. You can tell there’s real care and pride in what they do here. Definitely one of the best places around for good food and a proper pint. Highly recommend! 🍻

Restaurant looking good, very cosy (at least room first on right). I receive very tasty lamb shank, and my wife got a lovely pie, all piping hot. Not cheap but not crazy expensive either. We left restaurant full and satisfied. Highly recommended!!

The location itself is fine, the pub is a historic inn, located within the castle walls and looked worth a visit when we were looking at places to eat and drink. We didn't have a meal here but dropped in twice during our stay in the town. Both occasions I had the pleasure of being served by one of the rudest members of staff I've ever encountered. Definitely won't bother again.

Can’t comment on the hotel/rooms as we just visited the restaurant. Ordered the lasagne and mixed grill. The mixed grill was fine but the lasagne was really odd - not at all like the traditional dish - no layers, no sauce in the mince, no white sauce - just minced beef with a sheet of lasagne on top and topped with chopped tomatoes and cheese. Really bizarre and not at all to our taste. Can’t say we would return but the atmosphere was nice, service was fine - maybe we just ordered the wrong dish!

A return stay at Black Boy Inn, we’ve enjoyed their unique and spacious rooms inside the confines of the old walled city. The beds have all been very comfy. They have 16 on-site parking spots (albeit snug), with 4 EV chargers at 22kw. They’ve a Restaurant, a Pub, and a Bar. The included Breakfast was a very good start to the day.

Great hotel with lovely rooms. Can bit a tad noisy while the bars still open. But the hotel is smack bang in the castle walls. It has great historical information all around the hotel and gardens.

The Royal Welch Fusiliers Museum is located within the impressive Caernarfon Castle, offering an interactive experience that delves into the history of this infantry regiment. The museum showcases a vast collection, including exhibits on the regiments' Victoria Crosses and notable figures who served in the British Army. Visitors can explore various floors to view uniforms, weapons, and military artifacts dating back to the 1700s.
A great Museum exhibiting some connections between Hong Kong and Royal Welch Fusiliers. A place worth visiting if you are Hongkongers. They guarded the borders of British Hong Kong in 1960s and 1970s during the period of time of the so-called Cultural Revolution in mainland China. Salute to the Regiment and thank you for the service.

No need to buy tickets in advance, I would encourage anyone that is interested in military history then this is the place for you, learn about the oldest regiment in Wales(The Royal Welch Fusiliers) and thier valour and accomplishments, from thier formation up to thier amalgamation with the RRW

This was a great find within the castle. The gentleman that were running the museum the day we visited were knowledgeable, very entertaining, and extremely patient - all around a fabulous experience. The castle itself is wonderful as well, I would highly recommend you go to this museum when you are there.

Very very interesting! Is part of the Caernarfon castle but can be visited separately! We too a lot of pictures and we are grateful for all information and very interesting battles sceneries recreated especially fo us. It’s worth the effort and I recommend to people to take a special time to visit. It’s on three floors in the castle not big at all but definitely interesting. See some of the pictures. The entrance is nearly £ 10 per person for all heritage( with the castle) Parking space in the back of the castle £4/ day or 2 h free if you are lucky in front of the castle.

Scoops Artisan Ice Cream & Dutch Pancakes is a family run ice cream parlour in the heart of Caernarfon, serving up homemade ice cream and Dutch pancakes with all sorts of different toppings. The food is savoury, sweet and vegetarian, and was recommended to us when we were next in Caernarfon - we're so glad we went!
Craving for ice cream when passing by this beautiful street and couldn’t stop myself when found Scoops. Very nice place and amazing pancakes smell just pushing you to grab it but I already had my lunch so leave it for next time. Really enjoyed white chocolate special which was particularly good. Also dog friendly and plenty of seatings.

Excellent pancake shop with a brilliant range of options, lovely atmosphere (indoor and outdoor seating). Brilliant value, especially the kids menu which included a pancake, drink, and ice cream. Great gluten free options available.

When visiting Caernarfon, we stopped by and had an ice cream as they looked amazing. We are so glad we did. It was absolutely gorgeous. They have different/unique flavours comparing to other places, and they were really good. The prices are quite reasonable as well. We spot other places selling ice cream and none looked as good as this one. If you are in the area, you should try it

Plenty of ice cream & smoothie options, very friendly staff who will let you try some of the unique flavours. Great selections of vegan friendly ones and also a doggy mint ice cream and treats on the side. Sadly no seating as it was a rainy day, so I can’t comment on the decor. I enjoyed the raspberry sorbet and the pineapple smoothie.

We visited the cafe 27th of August, myself, My husband and my son. When we arrived, the cafe was pretty busy. It was advised that we could reserve the next vacant table and come back in 10/15 minutes and that was exactly what we did. On arrival we were seated, ordered our drinks and were advised there would be a 30 minute wait if we ordered pancakes. I was happy to be advised of the waiting time and for us the wait was no problem. The pancakes were really good (savoury), worth the wait, my only disappointment was not having enough room left for a sweet pancake! The main reason for the review was to give credit to the lovely staff, they were brilliant, hard working, informative, helpful and really friendly, nothing was to much trouble. It makes all the difference to be made to feel welcome. It's small and popular cafe, so, where possible, a bit of flexibility doesn't go a miss. Thanks again xx
Sarah E — Google review
Food was outstanding. We loved it. Did feel it was quite expensive for 1 pancake. There did not seem to be enough staff to run the restaurant with the amount of customers there were. It looked like everyone was run off their feet and just to busy to focus on customer service. We had to wait 40+ minutes for a pancake each. It was like they were not equipped to deal with larger groups arriving.

Stopped here for an ice-cream passing by and it was lovely! The girl who served us was so friendly and attentive, she checked the flavours I wanted for me to check they were gluten free before I ordered which I really appreciated! Brilliant ice-cream and lovely atmosphere, thank you!
Olivia L — Google review
Pancakes were very nice but quite pricey for what you get. Lots of flavours, sweet or savoury. Seating in front and garden room. In front lots of seagulls so beware. Lots of people sitting eating ice cream cones not eating or drinking otherwise. Looks like it closed at 4 and they were trying to clear up when still eating. Signs weren't clear that they were due to close.

The Fun Centre, also known as Yr Hwylfan, is a popular amusement park for children located in North Wales. It offers 14,000 square feet of space filled with giant slides, climbing frames, and ball pools to keep youngsters entertained for hours. There's also a separate play area for toddlers and a fully licensed restaurant for the adults to enjoy while the kids play.
My daughter is too young to kayak with my son so we came here instead and she had a little adventure of her own in a converted church as I had a cup of tea at their cafe. Lots of fun to be had on ropes and slides. Clean and friendly. Very reasonably priced.

Great going midweek well worth it 3 rooms for under4,s for the older ones 1 big room with climbing objects and slides cafe on site basic softdrinks and snacks ok experience good over all

A large place situated in an old church next door is the ASDA. I was there for 3 hours with my two young children. Two staff manning the large soft play area slides and one walking around. The seating area along with the Cafe sits directly in front of the soft play so you can see everything. We got three reasonably priced paninis , great tasting my kids loved it. Staff were helpful and showed a presence for behavioural and security reasons, and I might add reasonably clean compared to some other reviews on here ,also good coffee as a bonus, I would recommend 👍
Simon E — Google review
We visited the under 3 area for toddlers and had a great time! Great facilities, well stocked cafe and looking forward to trying out the other play areas when my little one gets bigger!
Nikki M — Google review
Absolutely filthy. Walls so mouldy in bathroom they have grown fur. Woodlice crawling between seats in cafe. Staff all children. No managerial presence whatsoever. Don't know about the capacity but seemed far too full inside the soft play to be legal. God help us if there had been a fire. This place is a hazard. Never again.
Elles ( — Google review
I would barely give this place 1 star. The toddler area was completely overrun with older children. Someone had also spilt their drink which wasn’t cleaned up so a real slip hazard, and the toilets were horrible. My son went into the Wendy house only to be stuck in there as so many older children piled in after him that he couldn’t get out. We left after about 10 minutes with him in tears. Honestly the worst experience I’ve ever had of a soft play centre.
Sarah O — Google review
This has got to be one of the best soft play places I've ever been. My grandson had an amazing time, especially the slides. The staff were friendly. The cafe area clean and reasonably priced.
Michelle — Google review
Visit this place a lot. Love it. Don't forget the go karts on the top floor! One of the biggest things I like about this place is the staff appear very well trained. They are normally youngsters, and in so many places I go, the young staff are a huge let down. But here, the lads that man the slides and stuff. The patience I have seen shown towards kids, at what myself would have been frustrated, they are calm and deal with it. I feel like they actually give a dam about safety at the top. They are watching and keeping things safe. And every time I come I'm impressed. The cafe staff are always lovely too. So 5 stars guys! And if you are thinking of visiting, pick a sunny day if you can, the place is so much emptier, go against the grain! Haha. Have fun:) Also, very important! The adults can go down the slides too! The fun doesn't stop at being a child at the fun centre! And come on, we all have that inner child that wants to slide the slide too! 😅

Segontium Roman Fort, also known as Caer Rufeinig Segontium, is an ancient auxiliary Roman fort dating back to the late 70s CE and in use until the late 4th century. Established by the Roman military leader Segontium in 77 AD after quelling a local rebellion, it was later robbed of its stones by medieval builders, leaving behind exposed foundations. Visitors can explore the ruins and learn about its history from guidebooks available in town.
Went on a timeframe that the museum was closed, but one can walk around the small building and into the field. There is only one infographic panel at the beginning that is not particularly rife with information (I can only hope there is more in the museum!). The area is not very extensive but it does have some nice foundations of a Roman camp that at a point in time stood as an important outpost of the Roman civilization. Across the street and behind some close fences there are the remnants of the foundations of the Roman baths. All in all very bare bones, but its charming nature will always strike a chord in me. Coming here is worthwhile if you feel the same.
Rafael M — Google review
We walked up from the town centre. Takes about 10-15mins up a moderately steep hill. The fort is on the left hand side. This is a Cadw managed site and the website says that it's open 10-4 daily. What it doesn't specifically mention is that the small museum is closed. No mention is made of the museum status on the signage outside the fort nor the Cadw website or whether it will reopen again. Please, Cadw - get you act together and update your comms. Upon entering the site there are the foundations of the barrack blocks and the headquarters building including the underground strong room where the soldiers pay and the legionary standards were kept. The remains of two of the four gateways can also be seen including a small stretch of the permitter wall. The remains of the bathhouse can be seen in the field across the road although this section of the fort site is off limits to visitors, which is a shame. It's definitely worth a look if in the area.
Martin G — Google review
Interesting piece of history hidden away in a corner of Caernarfon. To be fair for somewhere that is free to enter there's still quite a bit to see. If you are in area it's well worth making a detour to come and have a look around
Paul O — Google review
Unassuming metal fences on the side of the road hides a little gem. Personally I was very happy to visit, but it's not for everyone. Definitely worth the visit if you are in the area. Shame that the museum wasn't open. Parking on the road, alongside the fence.
Marcin ( — Google review
When we visited this attraction the front gate was open but the information centre was closed. No opening times were displayed. Bring your imagination when you visit as there is only one information board at the back of the information centre. (Maybe there's more information in the centre!!!) The best photo of this area is on Google maps, just so you get the size of the area in perspective. Unfortunately the road and houses were built on the site. We didn't visit the baths over the road as there's no information on how or where to get in. The locals know how to get in both sites as dogs where being walked in the fort and lads where playing football in the baths. Do you think these ruins will last another 2000 years.🤔
Dave H — Google review
Interesting place but not much information. It's free with kerbside parking. Gates locked to the baths section. Information center closed so no facilities.
Andrew L — Google review
I had a 2 weeks holiday in Wales in 2019 and wanted to visit this place on the day when I visited the castle, too. So I parked next to the castle, and after visiting that, I walked uphill on the streets to find the roman fort. I could not find any opening hours anywhere - Google map, Tripadvisor or Visit-Wales website, was not stated any hours. It was a Saturday about 1pm, and I found the place closed. Even on the gate there was not a sign showing opening times just a big padlock. Only a notice not to climb on the monument, but the gate was locked otherwise. I just walked near the fence a few minutes trying to find someone on the ground, and met on the street another disappointed visitor, so we shared our frustration about the lack of the opening times anywhere. In the meantime - which was just 2 minutes maybe - we have seen a man with his 8-10 years old son climb over the fence and go into the ground... No Comment. Maybe this was the way to get in??? Very disappointing visit, and that I walked a lot uphill to find the big nothing. At least on Google map should be stated the opening hours. Hopefully it has been changed since then, otherwise no point to visit.
Evalynn B — Google review
I can appreciate the history but it was a bit disappointing. There was only one information board to explain the site, the rest was just lots of low walls with no explanation as to what you were actually looking at. Plus points - great views, amazing trees, free parking and free entry.

Great food. None of our group had pizza, as we were cycling, so can't comment on how good their Woodfired pizzas are, but the rolls and jacket potatoes were very good, by all accounts. They were quiet busy, but still managed to get the food out quickly, which was appreciated

'Not Only Spaghetti - ex Stones' is a charming Italian restaurant with a cozy, stone-lined interior and a small courtyard. The menu offers classic Italian dishes such as sirloin steak, cod, lamb ossobuco, mussels, Hake with noodles, and hand-made lasagna. The house red and white wines are highly recommended. The restaurant has friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere that attracts both locals and tourists alike. It's advisable to book in advance due to its popularity.
If you want Italian food, home cooked with love, then this is the place. I had the best mussels I have ever eaten. Followed by Hake with noodles, everything was cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. My partner had Lasagna made with fresh pasta, hand made by the owner herself, which he said was the best he’d eaten. We both liked it so much that we went back the following night. I would highly recommend it if you are visiting Caernarfon.

We had great food here after a long busy day! The kids both ate all their pizza which is unusual as they’re not always great eaters. They also really loved the lightbulb shaped drinking bottles. The 2 ladies running the restaurant were lovely, bonus there was a nice dog there too:)

Very mediocre. The music was loud and the cook and waitress were loud. My sea bass at £18 was strikingly similar to Icelands sea bass en papilotte which costs £3.00. We ordered garlic bread, which didn’t arrive, and when it did come, after reminders, it was sliced bread with a garlic coating. The ice cream was small, and obviously shop bought. Not recommended unless you’re starving.

Italian restaurant
Tuscan restaurant
Osteria is a charming Italian restaurant and cafe known for its traditional Tuscan cuisine and cozy atmosphere. The menu is carefully crafted, offering classic Italian dishes such as homemade pasta, fresh seafood, and decadent desserts. The friendly and personal service adds to the authentic experience, with the chef often coming out to serve dishes and chat with guests. Visitors praise the high-quality ingredients used in every dish, creating a genuine taste of Italy in North Wales.
Quaint “hole in the wall” Italian Restaurant. It was a spur of the moment decision to go here but we were warmly welcomed and served. The food was incredible. I had the Arrabbiata which was deliciously moreish with a nice lil kick from the chillies. Compliments to the Tuscan Chef!

Definitely worth stopping here for food. We tried this place on a whim after walking past & the food was absolutely amazing. Well prepared and perfectly seasoned, the wine was also great and reasonably priced. The waitress was very friendly and an asset to the restaurant, great with recommendations & even managed to get us a couple of recipes from the Chef, also very friendly. We'll definitely be back, and will recommend Osteria to anyone we know visiting Caernarfon.

Quite often I leave a review if I'm ecstatic with the place and this is the place. The food was beyond amazing, even for someone who lived in Italy. The platters are an amazing choice. The Chef not only helped us with recommendations but he came to check if everything was in order a few times. The staff was formed of the most lovely teenagers one would want to meet.

We came here with two noisy toddlers and were feeling very embarrassed as we walked into this lovely restaurant but the waitresses and chef were awesome-so child friendly and thoughtful of what the kids might like. The food was absolutely delicious too. This place is a real gem.

Went as a family of 5 last night to Osteria 2 Adults and 3 young children, arrived slightly early but this was no issue they had sorted us a table so we could put our pram next to us which was appreciated. The owner was very welcoming and the two young servers were really pleasant to speak to. The restaurant is quite intense with it being so small which at first wasn't a problem but as the food came became quite uncomfortable. The menu is very limited and was hard to decide what to choose for our 2 boys (6&2) we asked if a dish was similar to a bolognese which we got a reply of "please don't call it a bolognese" we all ordered the same thing 2 adult portions and one child that we split which was advised off the owner himself to do, we also ordered 3 portions of bruschetta (favourite of mine) 1 cheese, 1 garlic mushrooms 1 normal tomato. This is where unfortunately things went downhill, the food came and you could tell straight away the quality wasn't great the bread was stale and had been over toasted (burned) on one side the garlic mushrooms were luke warm and had very little flavour of garlic. The owner makes his presence known he hangs about to see what you think which makes it very awkward when its not very good. Unfortunately the pasta came and again you could tell the quality and cost of ingredients would of been very little the sauce was tasteless and the pasta and meat were not what I would expect. we do eat and make a lot of italian pastas so maybe we are just picky but I struggled to finish it. Again the owner was very intense wanting to know what we thought which made for a very uncomfortable time. When he eventually left i asked the very polite servers if we could get the bill and take off and said that I didn't think the food was of a very good standard but didn't want to make it awkward for them we paid and left. I think £18 for the pasta we had was extremely steep. Thanks to the severs who we had a good crack with and made it more enjoyable

What a nice little find. Managed to book a table on the day for 7.30pm. Friendly staff, great Chef and loved the way he was doing his rounds to customers to ask what he thought of the food. I couldn't fault it and said Bellissimo. It made him laugh. Had a 3 course meal. Bruschetta Funghi, the Special Ragu Bolognese followed by the Ice Cream Truffle with coffee sauce. All were fantastic and would definitely highly recommend and can see myself going back again. Friendly atmosphere and do not feel rushed.

A lovely friendly restaurant, great service! The bruschetta platter was delicious, all of them are wonderful. I had the vegetarian platter which was also tasty albeit a bit heavy on the olive oil and garlic. My partner chose a special of Tuscan sausage & bean pasta, which was just cheesy fusilli with some meat. It was fine, but for the price it didn't feel very much like a special. Wouldn't stop us returning though as the rest of the food was amazing.

I had the Arrabiata, it was delicious, really nice selection of wines and the chef even came out to check if everyone was happy :) Would definitely go again !

Chinese restaurant
Cantonese restaurant
Nestled in the picturesque Caernarfon, Fu's Cantonese Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with breathtaking views of Victoria Dock. While there’s no set menu, patrons can indulge in a variety of flavorful dishes that are perfect for sharing. The ambiance is complemented by attentive staff who ensure a memorable visit. Guests rave about the generous portions and fresh ingredients, making it an ideal spot for both casual diners and those looking to savor authentic Chinese cuisine.
Loved the food at your restaurant! Best Chinese food we've ever had. Thanks for the excellent service and delicious food. We'll be back soon 😋😋

We stayed in Caernarfon for four nights and had our last dinner in this Chinese restaurant before heading back to London the following morning. We didn't expect the food quality was this good. Every dish we ordered was fine in London's standard. The place was nearly a full house on a Tuesday evening. The price was very reasonable. Strongly recommend this place to those visit this city.

Fu's- Block A, Doc Fictoria, Caernarfon LL55 1TH We were looking forward to dining at a well-rated and cozy restaurant that doesn’t overload its food with preservatives or additives. That’s why we chose Fu’s Restaurant. We arrived at 9:40 PM and asked if it was still possible to eat. The staff said they were open until 11 PM and seated us. The menu only listed dish names without any descriptions, which was an issue for me due to health conditions that require avoiding certain ingredients. I tried relying on guest-uploaded photos on Google to figure out what the dishes looked like. Meanwhile, the staff came to our table three times within 10 minutes, rushing us to decide. Because the dish names weren’t clear to me, I asked whether the pork was tender and mentioned how difficult it was to choose without pictures. The waiter responded with little interest. We were then told the kitchen would close in 10 minutes, which pressured us into ordering quickly. I ended up choosing a mushroom-based dish almost reflexively. When my lemonade arrived, I was surprised to find ice in it. The drink menu gave no indication that it would be served with ice, which matters to me as I shouldn’t drink cold beverages for medical reasons. Had that been clear, we would have asked for it without ice. While waiting, a waitress wearing a very revealing outfit came to replace our plates. To my surprise, one of my plates literally came from under her chest, which was quite inappropriate and uncomfortable. Later, when the food was brought to the table, only my plate had sauce dripped on it, which seemed careless. We also noticed something odd: one of the servers sat for most of the time at a nearby table, chatting with others. It wasn’t clear if she was working there or just a guest. But when we asked for salt and a knife, she brought them over — so apparently, she was part of the staff. That lack of clarity added to the strange overall impression. To end the evening, my friend received a friendly goodbye — the server looked him in the eye and said goodbye kindly. However, when it was my turn, she turned her head away and didn’t say a word. That moment left me with a sense of discomfort and exclusion. We left with a bitter taste — not just because the mediocre food itself, but because of how we were treated. As someone recovering from health issues, I had hoped for a respectful and relaxing dinner. Unfortunately, had we known how unprofessional and awkward the service would be, we would have gone elsewhere. The elegant outward appearance of the place turned out to be misleading.

Best Chinese meal we've ever tasted. You don't want to rush it as the tastes are amazing and unique. Generous portions and take time to view the interior. It sits beside a posh marina, with views over to Angelsey. A lovely experience.

Fu Restaurant: Generous Portions, Disappointing Flavours If you're familiar with authentic Chinese cuisine, Fu Restaurant may not be for you. I ordered the Kung Po Chicken and Szechuan Beef, and honestly, the flavor profiles were perplexing. The Kung Po, which should strike a sweet-and-spicy balance, came off as simply spicy — no sweetness, no complexity, just heat. Oddly enough, it was spicier than the Szechuan Beef, which offered little more than a wave of saltiness, with none of the fiery kick you'd expect from a dish bearing the Szechuan name. The dips didn’t help. I asked about better options after trying the unpleasant chilli sauce from the combo starter, but was told they only offer sweet chilli sauce or chilli oil — both at an extra £2. I went for the chilli oil, but what arrived was more like a thick chilli paste, possibly ox sauce, and far from what you’d expect. On the upside, the portion sizes were generous — but unfortunately, the flavors fell well short. I’d honestly rate the food below standard takeaway quality, which is saying something for a dine-in experience at restaurant prices.
Juice B — Google review
Ordered a sweet and sour soup and was one of the worst ones I’ve tried, if you are similar to the cuisine you would be highly dissatisfied every dish lacked flavour and the dumpling were the worst thing there, they tasted store bought but I’m sure that even store bought are better. Sweet and sour soup was literally the sauce that they use for sweet and sour chicken no other flavour’s, no anything when I saw the colour of it I just knew it wouldn’t be nice in which I was correct. They need to do some cooking training in the most respectful way possible as the five stars it has is a complete lie, the place itself looks nice but food was the most disappointing thing!!!!
Gabija N — Google review
While camping in north wales we fancied a meal out and searched for an eat in chinese restaurant. We were not disappointed! Fu’s was amazing. Extremely quick service, found us a table at 18.30 for 4 with no problems. Delicious food and huge portions. We shared a few dishes between us and that worked well. Helpful service, I highly recommend.

A real gem of a place to eat, food quality was phenomenal (so good we ate here two nights in a row). Decor and ambience was really nice and all the people working here were friendly and courteous. We were able to walk in both nights, though I’d recommend booking in advance for busier periods. Heartily recommended 👍🏻

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Fron Goch Garden Centre. Not quite as popular as Caernarfon Castle, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

Fron Goch Garden Centre & Restaurant, located in Gwynedd, offers a delightful dining experience with generous portions of delicious meals. The restaurant is dog-friendly and provides a sunny conservatory for guests to enjoy their food. In addition to the dining experience, the garden centre boasts a wide variety of plants and garden tools.
Fron Goch is hands down one of the best garden centres we’ve ever visited—and we’ve been to enough to call ourselves part-time plant whisperers. The staff are brilliantly knowledgeable and genuinely lovely; they somehow manage to answer even the daftest gardening questions without flinching. The service is top-notch, and to top it all off, we had a cracking breakfast—so good it almost distracted us from the houseplants (almost). It’s no mystery why they’re voted number one. If only all garden centres were this good, we’d never get anything else done!

Love this garden centre. Went for a wander on a wet day knowing it was dog friendly so we could go indoors and outdoors depending on the rain. Plants are super healthy and priced better than at many competitors. Staff were really pleasant and helpful, answering our queries. We even came out with a stone alligator for by our pond (to be fair the dog chose it!). Lovely way to spend a couple of hours and bought some great plants.

A great garden centre tucked away in the hills near Caernarfon. Plenty to see and buy they have a lovely café where they serve hot and cold food. Delicious cakes and a variety of drinks. A lovely day out!

Whilst recently staying in Caernarfon we randomly asked Trevor taxi were the best local breakfast cafe was and without hesitation he said Fron Goch garden centre. With a little bit of anxiety we set off and arrived at probably the nicest & welcoming garden centre cafe ever. From front of house to all staff we were made to feel so comfortable via excellent service with great ambience obviously enjoyed by every other customer who return regularly. We will definitely return to this fabulous again for the perfect breakfast 😋

We've seen this beautiful garden centre change, and improve over the last few years, it really is a hidden gem, well stocked, immaculately presented sales areas, and a fabulous Cafe/Restaurant area. It's the sort of place that you turn another corner and find yourself surrounded by high quality plants, horticultural equipment, and garden furniture, as well as household items, clothes, and all sorts of gift ideas, absolutely well worth a trip out, especially as the Christmas season approaches. My only slight criticism, is why they changed the cafe queue system, you now have to queue to be seated, then go up and choose a cake or whatever, then order it, and it gets delivered to your table, it worked more efficiently before, in my humble opinion, when you chose from the queue, and then took it with you to your table all in one go.

The Coed Helen Holiday Park is situated on the banks of the river Clwyd, in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. It offers great views of Caernarfon Castle, as well as a lovely decking area with wonderful mountain views. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the facilities are top notch. Overall, this is an excellent holiday park which we highly recommend.
Lovely lodge 3 bedrooms 6 beds lovely space, clean and tidy.

Beautiful site and 6 very happy years there but areas needing improvement are grounds maintenance (particularly cutting back of bushes more than once a year, you'll need your own secateurs) and customer retention/relations which are in need of improving

very nice. i loved the location, the pool was nice, our rooms were nice. only problem was spider webs everywhere and big spiders. other than that everything was perfect, even saw some cute cats there. my visit was nice just next time i wish the spider webs would be cleaned up.

What a hidden gem. Perfect location. Staff extremely helpful. Caravan was beautiful and clean and the little extras were a very nice touch. Will definitely be back as I would have loved to have been able to use the outdoor pool unfortunately out of season which I was fully aware of at booking. Can’t wait to come back.

We have been to a lot of caravan parks in Wales and Devon and Coed Helen is by far the nicest. Immaculate park and very quite and peaceful while we were there. Nice 12 minute walk to caernarfon. The caravan we stayed in was really nice and clean. Will definitely visit again next year.

Seems to be a great little caravan park, although it was very quiet as the season hadn’t started properly. Easy access to Caernarfon by foot which only took approximately 10-15 min walk. Nice little bar/restaurant on site with friendly staff. Currently having some construction work done around the outdoor swimming pool and some area of the park itself. Would recommend it to family’s with young children.

I booked one of the gorgeous glamping pods, very comfortable & well designed with a small but well equipped kitchen & lovely shower room. The park is well kept and very quiet, just disappointed that the pool was closed for the season. Great location being only 10 minutes walk to Caernarfon and the beach is even closer. Great value!

Gypsy Wood Park

Park
Nature & Parks
Gypsy Wood Park is a family-friendly attraction located on the outskirts of Snowdonia National Park near Caernarfon. The park offers a magical experience for younger children with various activities such as meeting animals, exploring wetlands, hunting fairies, and riding the mini railway. Visitors can enjoy whimsical touches like a musical tree, miniature train, and rainbow walk in the vast woodland site.
Went today with family and was very good. The trampolines and castle style play area was a favourite for the kids as well as the face paint shack, train ride, go karts, maze and especially the animals. All the animals looked well looked after and were gentle (except for pigs but a warning sign was placed stating “pigs may bite if frightened”) Personally my favourite bit was the go cart track, they offer a variety of metal pedal go carts such as ones with 3 wheels, 4 wheels, ones with passenger seats etc, it was extremely fun racing round the track with family and little ones. The maze is quite good and has a small climbing frame in the centre with a slide and a few ways to climb up. The only cons I could think of is the smaller activities placed around the site could use a bit of repairing. For example at the rubber duck racing part a few of the water pumps were not working so some of the ducks were stuck, and at the plastic fishing catch part some of the magnets on the fish needed to catch them on the rod had fallen off into the water and it was very difficult to find ones that could actually hook onto the rod. Apart from those small things this place is great and deserves the 5 star rating given.
Thomas H — Google review
Lovely little park, but needs a little TLC here and there but my kids loved their first experience of the place. I was a little disappointed for my daughter, that there was no Fairy princess, nor did we see anyone at the face painting kiosk, and to the disappointment of my son…no ice-cream at the shack - it was closed and we didn’t ever find the place to sieve for gems in exchange for sweets. The Lakeland walk was all closed off and padlocked gates too. Didn’t see any explanation as to why anywhere. But nonetheless, my two enjoyed it.
Louise M — Google review
Fantastic day out for the kids, lots to do.... Real diggers to try, mini excavators, mini play area, outdoor park, animals (pigs, llamas, deer, cows, rabbits, turtles etc.), trikes and vehicle races, miniature village with model railway, sand pit, train ride, zip line, fairy huts, face painting, mini wiggle racers and more.... kept 4 kids (ages 3, 6, 7 & 9) entertained all day. Highly recommend!
Jodie P — Google review
Best for children under 10 but my 12 year old enjoyed it with his younger sister to play with. The staff make the place, especially the pirate !!! Model trains, horse grooming and bunny petting all included in entry price. Pay extra for diggers and train ride. We didn't try the cage, but plenty of places to eat your picnic. Some areas felt like they could do with a little tlc but it kind of added to the charm. Lots of families having fun when we were there but lovely atmosphere no real waiting to do anything. Plenty of toilets and all kept clean. Dairy free ice cream available which made my daughters day, and staff were helpful with her allergies.
Kim H — Google review
Our 4 year old loved it. Costa us £42 for 2 adult day tickets, 1 child day ticket, 1 go on the diggers and all 3 od us to go on the train once. We spent the whole day here and brought a picnic lunch with us. One of the more reasonably priced days out we have found as 80% of the activities are included in the entry fee. It's not too far for little legs to walk and is pram friendly. Plenty to do to keep a child occupied, and staff super friendly. We will definitely be returning one day soon.

We spent about 3 hours here on Saturday with our 6 year old Grandson and 2 1/2 year old Grandaughter , lovely place, lots to explore, and things to see and do, reasonable prices too
Joanne S — Google review
First visit as we were in the area. Despite the weather being a bit changeable we and more importantly the kids had a fantastic time. From arriving in rain and the welcoming enthusiasm of the staff really set the mood for the day. We visited with 4yr old and 20month old and found lots to do to entertain them. Also the extra charges for digger driving and train ride was very reasonable. Me and the wife both commented that as a value for money from previous experience of similar attractions is second to none. Thanks for an awesome day, we will definitely visit again when in the area.

I made a reservation for Molly's restaurant online while in Scotland, unaware that it was located within a caravan/holiday park. However, this turned out to be of no concern as I easily found the place and received a warm welcome from the staff. The food at Molly's was incredibly delicious, well presented, and reasonably priced. The hardworking staff ensured that all guests were promptly served with their meals and beverages.
We were a party of 20 & they accommodated us brilliantly. The manager couldn't have been more helpful when we made the booking and the staff on the day were brilliant too. We sent through a pre-order the day before which helped us & the kitchen I think. The food was lovely, piping hot and massive portions. We went based on reviews from locals & so glad we did as it was excellent all round. Thoroughly recommend.

Very nice. Despite being located in a holiday park, it is not some sort of 'club house', but a genuine bar and restaurant visited by locals. The food was very, very good, with some interesting dished on the menu. The staff were very friendly and helpful, even though they were genuinely rushed off their feet by two very large parties when we were there. To cap it all, the prices of soft drinks are amazingly good and don't require collateral or a small mortgage!

We booked this restaurant on the internet from home in Scotland but did not realize at the time it was on a caravan/holiday park, which was not a problem as it turned out. Found the place easily enough and got a warm welcome from the staff, the food was really very tasty, well presented and reasonably priced. The staff worked very hard to keep all the guests supplied with their food and drinks. This was an unexpected gem of a place with a good buzzy atmosphere, really friendly staff, a good selection of well presented tasty food that will not break the bank. If you are in the area give it a go.

Much better than when first opened. Had three course meal last night. Crab and prawn starter was presented well and was very nice. Had the traditional mixed grill and that was fantastic. Finished with a trio of Welsh cheeses, very nice. The wine was very reasonably priced for a restaurant. Well done to the current restaurant management and staff.

Fast food restaurant
Golden Cod is a must-visit spot in North Wales, known for its exceptional kebabs. The fresh naan, made in-house, complements the delicious chicken and high-quality donner meat. The addition of fresh salads and tangy sauces enhances the overall experience, making it stand out from other kebab places.
After passing by for a number of years we decided to stop for Fish and chips, didn't regret it just wished we had tried there before massive fish and good portion of chips definitely won't be passing by again
Lynne S — Google review
Not a good experience here at all. The chips were made fresh but came out very dry and have a funny 'off' taste about them. I ordered a large portion but it was more of a small medium and for £4+ not worth it. The gravy is sour, mushy peas had such a disgusting taste and the curry sauce taste like a can of vegetable soup with a hint of curry. The order took nearly 30 minutes for 1 portion of chips. The lads are friendly hence the 2 stars but all of the food went in the bin.
Bradley P — Google review
Was told order was £15.40 on the phone the got charged £19.70. The gentleman who packed our food in the shop was lovley and also admitted it wasn’t £19.70 but the women persisted to tell me it was and was quite rude. The prices on the board didn’t even correlate even though she told me to “look ant the board as she was right” and I have never paid that much for the exact same order the last 3 times I have been there. Not great service at all.
Keren A — Google review
Very poor. Chips vere cooked whilst we waited, dry and solid and a weired taste. A spring roll was an experience shall we say and the cheese and onion thing we were give was totally void of flavour the gravy was full of unmixed powder Very expensive for what we ordered.

Fancy wasting your only cheat meal in the week on this. Avoid. To make it worse I’d just done a 5km run with a severe gradient. Chips had clearly been cooked several times over the past week! Save yourself the trouble and drive past.

Tbh we were quite late. £11.00 for 2 portions of cold chips & curry sauce more similar to water. Sadly won't be back. Staff were friendly

Service was friendly yet slow. My food was cold, I ordered chips beans and cheese (perhaps an unpopular choice) however it is as if it touched no heat. My partners chips were cold also and frankly not nice. The burger had clearly been frozen and the ketchup had the consistency and look of a jam. Also only takes cash.

Beddgelert Forest car park is about a mile and a half outside of the village. There are a multitude of cycle trails heading off. Also, there is a red walking route, which is 2.5 miles approx. This is a delightful short walk, consisting of gravel paths and forest tracks. The small but perfect reservoir of Llyn Llwelyn is on the route, and a short detour will circumnavigate this beautiful stretch of water. This walk also crosses the Welsh Highland railway a couple of times, so caution must be taken when near the track. If you have a dog, then it will not be short of water spots. Some sheep maybe in the area of the lake

A really lovely, very scenic, even spiritual place. Gelert's (the famous dog's) grave in the beautiful village of Beddgelert is well worth the drive / short walk. We enjoyed FREE car parking and FREE toilets for disabled people and everything seemed so tidy, orderly and clean. This is one of the real gems of North Wales and I could feel a very special atmosphere here. :) We went quite early in the morning as the traffic can get quite busy I think. Once again, be extra careful driving on the roads in and out of Beddgelert / driving through the mountains. A very special place indeed! Enjoy! Thanks for reading my review. :)

Definitely worth a stop in Bedgelert and a wander the the grave if you have the time. Poignant story and moving memorial. We were lucky to arrive as the train left the station too and passed the bottom of the field.

Bedd gelert is a lovely place to visit whilst in North Wales...all walking paths seem to lead you to this quant little village, as I found out planning the routes around the surrounding mountains and rivers....stopped in the Prince llewllyn pub too for a very reasonable priced meal as well....you can visit gelerts grave too, a sad story of the poor dog, or carry on along the aberglaswyn down to nantmor. Nice waterfalls. Defo a visit if your holidaying in this lovely area.

A must see! Easy flat path to walk on. Beautiful story, but quite tragic. Lesson learned never jump to conclusions!

The most beautiful small town in Snowdonia in my opinion. It’s people are very friendly! There are many beautiful walks and the grave of Gelert is set in a field under a tree. I would advise you visit the grave early in the morning, because it does get busy. There is a beautiful river running through the town and many scenic walks. There are tea rooms, restaurants and pubs too.

Mine
Sights & Landmarks
Sygun Copper Mine, located in Snowdonia National Park, offers a self-guided tour with audio commentary that provides insight into the history of the Victorian-era copper industry and the lives of miners. The tour takes about 45 minutes and includes informative points along the way. While there are many steps in the mine, making it challenging for young children or those with mobility issues, visitors can explore at their own pace.
Sygun Copper mine is an educational experience, learning how the miners extracted copper and other minerals within the mine. Hiking boots are highly recommended, just like any other mine or cavern you may visit the view at the end is absolutely stunning. When wife took kids down to the play area, I stayed a few minutes to take some photos and videos and enjoyed the quietness. The cafe offers some really nice pasties. I tried the Lamb and mint one & the leek, onion, cheese and potato pasty. Very very good value at £3 each and they taste more than a premium pasty. Sausage rolls are £2.60, which my kids had. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
Meat F — Google review
Visited here recently on my solo holiday. No need to book and just turned up and got a ticket, staff friendly. The self guided tour isn’t the longest but it is interesting and has audio points dotted about that provides an insight into the mine and its previous workers. Beware that there are quite a number of very steep steps in the mine and could be a struggle for someone. The views as you come out of the mine are incredible and even the nearby lake walk is beautiful which I done after.
Lacy W — Google review
Good place to visit especially if you are looking for something on rainy days. Nice walk (on your own) through the tunnels of this old copper mine. Approximately 6 Audio animations which are telling you a lot about the history of this mine and how working in this mine looked like. In addition some scenes recreated to get a better impression. Nice coffee area including sandwiches and cake. Also good selection of things to buy with fair prices. Excellent and very friendly staff. Worth a visit if you are in Snowdonia area!
Jan W — Google review
Sygun Copper Mine was a very atmospheric place to visit! I highly recommend wearing waterproof shoes — there’s water inside and it can get a bit slippery at times. But it’s absolutely worth it! The experience of walking through the mountain is incredible. There’s also a gift shop, a café, and restrooms available. We were very pleased with our visit!
Jane K — Google review
We visited this mine for the first time nearly 30 years ago. Owners have changed but the mine and the stalagmites and tights have not. Lots of car parking with extended walks around the nearby lake. Boots are essential as the entrance is navigated through standing water. The attraction climbs via iron stair cases passing audio and illuminated attractions. Towards the end of the climb you approach and pass an object that will make you think of the raiders of the lost ark trilogy. The exist descended down the hillside via a very rugged path with good views across the valley.
Andrew B — Google review
Nice and different adventure. You go on tour yourself and can spend time as long as you want. It’s not big, so in about half hour or a bit more, depending on you, you’ll be trough. It is audio guided in the mine with some history to get a feeling of the workers. Especially perfect on a rainy day. The surrounding around the mine is beautiful, even though it rained you can imagine. How much more on a beautiful day.
Mireille K — Google review
What a fab experience!! Informative plaques and audio commentary you start on your own as you move round the mine. You must wear a helmet all the way round. Mine got knocked off halfway up the second set of stairs and I had to go back to the bottom for it. About 165 stairs to climb to get out again. The stairs are metal and some are a bit steep. The path back down to the welcome centre is steep and loose gravel so be careful!! Ground floor is very wet but much drier as you go up. The lady in the welcome centre was so lovely! Gave us pointers for places to go during out stay in Wales. They had toilet facilities but only cold running water. The wee cafe was lovely as well. Make sure you wrap up warm as it's very cold inside! (More importantly we survived the mines without bumping into any goblins or a Balrog 👹)
Laura — Google review
Great experience with the self guided audio tour. Just be sure to spread yourself from other groups so you don't arrive at an audio station half way through someone else arriving before you. Amazing view of the mountains at the end and a little museum to finish the experience off! Lots of parking. Wear good water resistant shoes!

Spectacular place with a nice view over the lake. Iconic building which was dedicated as a old quarry men hospital. Just a few mins walk from the parking place for National slate museum. Nicely arranged museum which has a great history and some corner stones in early health care. Lot of valuable, historic medical equipment on display. Well worth a visit and enjoy the scenic view too.

Although we had been to the slate museum a couple of times, we had never been here. That changed in June 2024. What a great piece of history.

Bit of a walk from llanberis but well worth it for the views at the top, the museum itself was educational and even had realistic smells, lots of videos and signage to explain what happened in the hospital

We've just been today. It's open until 16:30h. It's worth it for the view and the museum itself. Very interesting history and artifacts. You can learn how life was during the years the quarry was open. So interesting stories about the health workers that were there and the patients. Also the tools and facilities there. I so recommend it.

Additionally, there is a cafe where guests can recharge between races. Visitors have praised the friendly staff who create a fun atmosphere and offer reasonable prices.
Very nice staff and a small track from what I expected. The cars were of decent quality and the track had some interesting turns. Went here on a stag party of 10. You get lap timings and statistics as well. Podium finishers each get a champagne bottle and they taste half decent too. Would recommend !

This place was the nuts! Two really friendly guys there who knew how to make it fun for us, we went with six people and they did us a really good deal too, the prices are very reasonable. They encouraged us to drift and hoon about which we loved! The track is smaller than some but well laid out and really fun! Well worth going and a perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon
Bike S — Google review
A lot of fun, friendly staff. It's the kind of place you want to stay all day. The more of you that's there, the more fun it is, I would recommend a group of 4+ but all said it's fun on your own even. During the holidays I would recommend you book as it does get really busy and you might be waiting a long time if you don't have a booking.
D S — Google review
It was awesome. We showed up early and they let two kidderz ride before the crowds came. Unfortunately they only gave us 10 minutes. I thought they would at least let them keep going because no one came while they raced around the track. Unless their was a reason that they maybe the crew needed to set up for a party or something. But if there wasn't something like that then I think they should have allowed us to squeeze in 20 to 30 minutes which I'm leaning towards could have easily happened. The track is cool. Cars spin out easy which makes it exciting. They should invest in some outdoor tracks as well. Wish I could work for them because with a proper workforce and advertising a little more investment you could really make some money owning one of these places.
Ambrose — Google review
brill place, very friendly staff! the track is a nice size and the karts dont seem to have any problem they have all the gear youll need such as overalls and helmets. it may seem weird to say but its important for me! i didnt feel as if they judged me when i asked for a bigger sized overalls he just gave me a smile, they made me feel very welcomed here do recommend!

I recently stumbled upon "Y Gegin Fach" in Caernarfon, North Wales, thanks to the glowing reviews on TripAdvisor. And let me tell you, this place did not disappoint! Tucked away just off the main square, "Y Gegin Fach" greeted us with warmth and charm. The couple who owned the place were incredibly friendly, and their hospitality made us feel right at home. They went above and beyond to ensure that our experience was exceptional, and nothing was too much trouble for them. We decided to try their breakfast, and it was labeled as a "hearty Welsh breakfast." Well, let me tell you, it truly lived up to its name. The sausages were huge, thick, and plump, bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The bacon was so thick that it could easily be mistaken for gammon, and each bite was a delight. The whole breakfast experience at "Y Gegin Fach" was simply amazing. Starting our day in North Wales with such a fantastic breakfast was the perfect way to set the tone for our adventures. The quality of the food, combined with the exceptional service and friendly atmosphere, made our visit to "Y Gegin Fach" truly memorable. I am delighted to have discovered this hidden gem of a place to eat, and I can confidently say that I will be returning without a doubt. If you find yourself in Caernarfon, North Wales, make sure to pay a visit to "Y Gegin Fach" for a truly satisfying breakfast experience. You won't be disappointed!

We had breakfast here before our journey back south and I fell in love with this place! The food was delicious and the views were absolutely incredible! The Sunday Lunch seemed to be fully booked for the day too, which is always a great sign! Will hopefully be back for a tour in the future! Gwych!

What a great place. Web advised to book so we did. A very wet Sunday in October and we turned up to a warm welcome. Listening to the other guests it was full of locals which is always a good sign. Service was very good and the food was really well cooked, presented nicely and tasted great. Portion size was on the generous side but it all seemed to disappear. The drinks menu as you would expect was full of their own produce as well as some well chosen alternatives. I would recommend their Red wine which we bought some to take home and the apple juice.

Great place to start your walk on the Welsh coastal hills. Much more peaceful than snowdonia national park and so much more picturesque. Start or finish at Pant du Vineyard . Charge your EV for a reasonable fee for 3 hours while you walk. Start or finish with a warm British breakfast. You can visit the vineyards and apple orchard. Taste their wine or local cider. 😍

We've just returned from a fascinating tour of the Pant Du vineyard and orchard. The owner, Richard, is extremely welcoming and very informative and is clearly very passionate about his business. He delivered the information to us in an engaging and friendly manner. We took our spaniel, who was welcomed on the tour by Richard. We decided to stay for lunch and sat on the terrace with our dog, which enabled us to take in the spectacular scenery. The food was of excellent quality and reasonably priced. We found all of the staff we encountered, very polite and helpful. We've often said that we'd visit Pant Du and we're so glad that we did. We'll certainly recommend it to friends and family, and we'll be back there ourselves before too long. Well worth a visit.

What a gem of a little café! The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, hearty, and full of flavour. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. It’s also really reasonably priced, so perfect if you're on a budget. As a motorbiker, it was the ideal stop: easy to find, comfortable, and a great place to refuel (yourself, not your bike!). Will definitely be back on my next ride through! Carpark is tarmack, therefore brilliant for bikers! Diolch yn fair iawn i chi!

I visited here on holiday from England recently and the lady that served me was really friendly and attentive !! I had to leave a five star review because it’s the best subway for allergy safety I’ve been to. I have celiac disease and the lady that served me took a couple of minutes to change her gloves and thoroughly disinfect the work area , knives and gloves , to prevent cross-contamination from the wheat bread. ( I also didn’t urge or push her to do this) I am so grateful for this act because I get so easily unwell for a couple of days from gluten and this made me feel so at ease eating my sandwich without worry . Food was great and service was excellent Thank you!

Decent subway, only a short queue when we went, we expected it to be busy as the Greggs next door was shut. Service was good. The interior of the shop is a little small however so doesn't allow much space in the shop. Food was up to the normal subway standard, and service was great.

Just came into the city after a long drive - luckily this Subway was close to our lodging. I am usually leery about Subway as I don't know what I might get but judging by the overwhelming 4+ stars review - I thought it should be OK! Upon getting in, I was greeted enthusiastically by the sandwich - the two sandwich artist were literally most friendly and down to earth people I have ever met. It was such a nice feeling after a long drive in the rain to get such greetings, and they encourage us to take our time in selecting the sandwich we want. This is our first time I. UK Subway (American Subway offering are way different!) We got out Tuna melts - but it was really amazing on how friendly the two staff were. And they work very well in tandem. I did not get a chance to talk to Sam a lot but it was such a pleasure to talk to Osh! Who is very Welsh 😀 and he shared lots of titbits about being a Welsh in Northern Wales. Hands down the most enthusiastic and friendly guy ever - without much pretenses. We were eating there and we see that everytime a customer comes in Osh usually know what the customer wants. I don't know if this is Welsh hospitality but this person (I get to meet his team where they are a bunch of very friendly people) - Osh is a keeper. An awesome representation of the Subway brand. We will be here for two days and we will be going back again before we leave. A job well done! Thanks Subway of Caernarfon

The old lady who works there is extremely rude. I'm asian and everytime i go there she always has attitude and ESPECIALLY the amount of food she gives me is very small. Idk if this is about racism or she's just naturally rude. Other staffs are nice but yeah if you can read this just know it costs £0 to be nice :) 🤢🤢

Beddgelert is a lovely town, as is this Smashing Cafe/Coffee shop. It was our anniversary and we were out on a walk with our 2 Labradors so we sat outside for lunch. Kind of good news/bad news here. Service was great, no complaints there and it was a nicely decorated place. We ordered the scone with clotted cream and jam and a Welsh cream tea. The scone was fantastic. We were both disappointed with the clotted cream. It came in a sealed single serve container and had the consistency of cream cheese, not light and airy as we’ve had before. The bara brith was also not great. An over abundance of fruit so that all you tasted was sweet fruit, none of the earthy bread. Really disappointing.

This is the first time they had Sunday roast in the uk and it blew them away! I must admit it was one of the best I ever had too! My niece (10) said this is the first time in her life she enjoyed the main more than the dessert. Nice play area outside to keep children busy too.

A hidden gem! Don't overlook this place just because its within a camp site. Absolutely gastro pub level. Visited with my family- 2 adults and 4 children. Held little expectation as we just wanted to be fed.. but wow... what a wonderful meal - absolutely delicious, and worth every penny!

My daughter had her wedding meal here yesterday, the food was amazing and Sophia and her team did everything to accomodate us. Decorations etc were taken to the Mill the day before, and the team decorated the venue immaculately. 10/10 for making a stressful day run smoothly. thank you very much x

We had a really nice evening at the Prince. I had the chicken burger which was delicious, and my friend had the curry and she said she loved it. The food was great, but what really stood out was the service. Carrie looked after us so well! She was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. It made the whole experience feel really welcoming!!!! Would definitely come here again :)

We stopped by the Prince Llewelyn Hotel while visiting the village and were really impressed! We didn’t stay overnight, just popped in for some food and drinks — and everything was spot on. We had the Mushroom and Truffle Camembert and the Snowdonia Four Cheese Pizza. Both were delicious, but the Mushroom and Truffle was especially tasty! Lovely, cosy atmosphere and really friendly staff. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.

We had a wonderful evening at the Prince Llewelyn Hotel restaurant tonight. The atmosphere was warm, friendly, and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious. I especially loved the rarebit burger, which was recommended by our lovely server, Carrie. She was so helpful in answering our questions about the menu and made the whole experience even more enjoyable with her friendly attitude. Thank you, Carrie, for making our meal such a great one.

A fantastic location with a great view and even better service. The bar manager and staff are incredibly kind and helpful, making you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. Special thanks to the lady bar and restaurant manager who went out of her way to help me and my family find a taxi when we were stuck. I struggled to understand the driver’s accent not because I was drunk, but because I’m Asian and English isn’t my first language. Her kindness and patience made all the difference.

Had lunch and drinks here. Friendly staff and the food was excellent ! You won’t leave here hungry. 2 of us had scampi and chips and another had crispy chicken loaded fries. Were weren’t disappointed. Loads of very tasty scampi (there was even more hiding under the chips !!) , the salad was bright and colourful and dressed even the coleslaw was good ! Fast service too despite being pretty busy. Dog friendly, clean and tidy, nice ambience.

We popped in for lunch. The staff were friendly and were very professional. We had the chicken and bacon bbq pizza which is the best pizza I've had for a long time and a crispy chicken burger which was also very good. It was also popular with the locals who were very friendly too. I'd definitely recommend to eat here or just to pop in for a drink. Dogs are allowed in too.

We didn't stay in any of the rooms, but had a meal here. Our advice? Go to the Caffi across the bridge near the public toilets. The food here was aggressively mediocre, especially for the price and beautiful location. It's a real shame, since the atmosphere was lovely and the staff were very nice. Just too bad Robinson's has seemingly bought up all the nice pubs in Beddgelert.
Hilary I — Google review
A cosy warm pub with some of the friendliest staff I have came across on my 3 week long trip, great local beer at fair prices. The food was nice enough, but quite dear at £18 for a curry with rice and some poppadoms crisps, I suppose that's because you're in bedgellert which comes with a bit of a tourist price tag. But we had a lovely evening and felt really comfortable in there to spend the evening.

Excellent climbing and bouldering on office. Laid back, informative and professional staff on hand to assist. Very family friendly. My 3 kids loved it and I had to persuade them out, even after 4.5hrs. Auto belays, top ropes and lead climbs on some really high walls, plus a small children's area and clip n'climb like Crazy climb area. Will be back for sure. Great value too.

My first visit as the weather was too bad for outdoor climbing. What an amazing venue. The variety of different grade climbs was mind blowing. The abseil area was great and there were loads of people learning as the crags were too wet. Shame I don't live in the area yet as I'd be here at least every week. Really laid back and friendly. PS The cafe sells proper all butter flapjacks, none of this vegetable oil rubbish, the coffee is great too,

Children did the crazy climb. A good hours entertainment with a lot of different challenges. Climbing walls for more experienced climbers look excellent
Gareth B — Google review
We went for the kids climbing session where they have 9 climbing challenges and an hour to complete. Arrived at the centre and was greeted by friendly reception staff. Was then taken to the area and the instructor went through a safety briefing and got the party all harnessed. Our kids loved it, each wall a different challenge some difficult and some easier. Was well worth the cost and will certainly visit again

The best climbing centre in North Wales! I absolutely love beacon, it has all the facilities needed from a complete beginner to an advanced climber, and is very welcome to all! Every staff member I have met has been extremely lovely and always answer any questions I have. The bouldering and top roping selection is brilliant (with many auto belaying machines), accompanied by a nice cafe with the essentials for a climbing break. The best place if you want a day in the climbing gym, everything you could need is there whether you’re alone or with company.

I dropped in to do some bouldering with my boys during a half-term visit to Eryri area. Very friendly and laid back team working there & lots of interesting problems to work on. Will be back.

Good selection of bouldering, lead and top rope options. Even with lots of people there didn't feel too crowded. They have a great cafe with tasty cakes and pizza which proved to be a real hit

Holiday park
Cwm Cadnant Lodges, located near Caernarfon, offers camping and caravanning solutions for outdoor enthusiasts. The site is situated in a quiet valley with a stream running through it, providing a peaceful atmosphere. The well-maintained facilities include modern toilets and showers, making it an ideal choice for those seeking comfort while being close to nature. Additionally, the campsite offers pitches for backpackers as well as amenities for motorhomes and touring caravans.
Nicely laid out campsite within ten minutes walk of town but sheltered from any noise. Decent shower and bathroom facilities. Friendly and helpful owner. Marked pitches with plenty of room and cleverly distributed into different areas separated by tree lines. Seemed like good value 👍
David S — Google review
Great location, easy access to Caernarfon and lots of places in north Wales. Well tucked away with a hot tub and electric gated access. Parking spaces are very narrow, perris lodge is quite dark inside, could really have done with a window on the end of the building for the lounge area, and the bedroom window looks straight into the bedroom of the lodge next door so have to keep the blind closed for any privacy and some maintenance of the foliage would be a good thing. Enjoyed our stay very much but could have been better thought out.
Hamish C — Google review
Stayed for 2 nights. Site is very sheltered which was a relief from the gale force winds. The facilities (toilets and showers) were well thought out, modern and very, very clean, probably some of the best we have experienced in this price range. Only 10 mins walk into town for pubs and restaurants. Small site, most people seemed to stay for a night or 2 on the way through.
Nicky S — Google review
I was looking for a campsite near Caernarfon to spend one night, and came across this site. It's easy to miss, being very close to the centre of the town (approximately 15 minutes walk) - and not where you'd expect a campsite to be situated, but the site itself is in a very quiet attractive valley with a stream running through it. Although many other sites were busy, this one wasn't crowded, and I found a nice place to pitch the tent. The man on reception (I assume the owner) was very friendly and welcoming. The wash block, etc., was very clean, but a little dated. I'd be happy to go back here if I was looking for somewhere to stay near Caernarfon for a night or two.

Pleasant quiet campsite with good facilities, children's play area . Pitches for back packers. Motorhomes, touring caravans and family tents. Near to Caernarfon town centre in wooded valley. Friendly helpful proprietor. Good value for money.

Initially I thought it was a nice site, but once you've paid the attitude towards you changes. (I am a father with a 16 year old son). Last night I was using the laundry facility but it didn't function properly only doing a delecates wash (no spin). Cost over a fiver to dry half a load. I went to go to the toilet and a man who is a long term onsite tenant rudely told me I cannot use the toilets for families, I have to walk down the steps and use the ones down there. We barbecued later that night in the respective area, again we were check up on, (come on, I'm 51 years old). If you don't want people to barbecue, say so. Me and my son sat and had our food on the delaperdated rotten bench, and afterwards we went back to our Pitch as we needed to charge our phones and to be honest it weren't ready to sleep so we sat in the car as it was raining. My car will only charge when it is on so I let the car idle. Strangely enough the rude man from opposite came straight over and asked me to move, so not wanting to upset anyone I moved. I got up in the morning. To find my tent had been damaged. As it was still raining I sat in my car and the man opposite complained again and again I was told this time by the owner my radio (on vol 2) was virbrating. So again I turned it off. The guy opposite clearly took a dislike to us, and intended to make it as unpleasant as possible. You succeeded. A word of advice park as far as possible from the old boy at pitch number 26!!!!!

I can not recommend Bonta Deli enough. Debs & Team provided a buffet lunch for 45 rugby boys on stag do (no easy task!). Without doubt it was the best spread I have ever seen and eaten and this was echoed by all the boys. The lads are still talking about the Scotch eggs! Embark on a memorable journey aboard the Welsh Highland Railway from the recently refurbished Caernarfon Railway Station. The scenic route takes you from Caernarfon, past Snowdon's base, through charming Beddgelert, and onwards to Porthmadog. While some find the prices steep, others appreciate the affordable rates for children and dogs. The modern station boasts colorful train displays and historical photos.
Highly recommend the snowdon star… we had such amazing views… will be back to do another part of the highland railway soon…

The train ride was great just a shame about the weather. The views were great. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food and drink were reasonably priced on the train. This experience was great. Would have been good to maybe have background music on or maybe a historical guide playing through speakers like they have on buses. Would recommend.
Nathan W — Google review
Our day trip from Caernarfon to Beddgelert by steam train was one of the absolute highlights of our visit to Wales. The journey took us through the stunning Welsh Highlands, offering breathtaking views all along the way. Beddgelert is a charming little gem of a town—picturesque, peaceful, and perfect for a short stroll or a relaxing meal. The return ticket cost around £62 per person, which may feel a bit steep, but the experience is truly worth it. The entire round trip takes about 5 hours, including some time to explore Beddgelert before heading back. If you’re visiting North Wales, this steam train ride is an absolute must-try!
Sudeep B — Google review
Visited in July, was lovely to see the fantastically restored steam carriages doing what they were built to do. Watching the crews oiling them up and preparing them to pull the carriages as they get up steam is a sight to behold and watching and listening to them leaving the station is a sight to behold.

We brought the return fare coasting £70 each, i think the price is a bit expensive but its a 6 hour trip to and from caernarfon. You get a 1 and a half hour break st caernarfon then you return back.

What a gem of an experience! We took the Gelert Explorer steam train round trip from Caernafon to Beddgelert and the scenery was breathtaking, including clear views of Yr Wyddfa / Snowdon. While on the platform, you also get to see the steam engines up close with plenty of opportunity for photos. My partner is a train geek and loved every second. :) A brilliant day out, would highly recommend! Food notes: we splurged and got the picnic basket on the way there and the cream tea on the way back, both of which had gluten-free options. If you are GF, I would say the gluten-free cream tea is the better option of the two as the gluten-free picnic basket had fewer items than the standard one so not worth the money - the cream tea was more like-for-like. (I think if we ever did the trip again, next time we'd bring a packed lunch instead!)
Alex L — Google review
Visited early July 2025. After a very nice breakfast at Spooners cafe in Porthmadog we got on our train, The Harbourmaster, to Caernarfon. What an excellent experience, aside from all the stunning scenery there was also the wildlife, the workings of the train, watching the engineer and the rest of the crew filling up with water and coal along the way was extremely interesting. Enough time in Caernarfon to grab a bite to eat or a coffee before the trip back. The pre ordered tea and clotted cream scone for the journey back finished off a very relaxing and enjoyable day.

Myself and my two children went on the two hour boat trip on Monday, the family run boat made our trip really enjoyable. The commentary was great and interesting. The owners were very welcoming and nothing was to much trouble, even going round offering blankets if feeling the chill of the wind. We really enjoyed and would recommend to anyone.

Was walking around the bay an seen the cruise about to leave, me and my partner said we would catch the next one but the very kind lady at the hut over heard us an said we could jump on straight away an pay on our way back, we was very lucky to get on last second! I am so glad we did as we had the rare privilage of seeing Dolphins in the Menai Strait! It was such a special experience for us. The cruise and crew were fantastic an made our time spent on board lovely even without seeing the Dolphins, highly reccomended. I hope you get to see the Dolphins like we did 😁

The trips are dictated by the local tides, so check at last minute. When you get to the departure hut on the harbour they ONLY TAKE CASH. Be ready, on the trip wear a suitable coat. It gets cold and very windy on the trip. Dogs are allowed, cost £5. We saw a dew on board and they looked scared and miserable. I own a dog and would advise don't take them . Seats on the trip are hard benches to sit on. An enjoyable journey. Friendly staff too.

Visited on 4.10.23 What a fantastic and unexpected find this was. Having planned our day trip to Caernarfon, we hadn't seen anything on Trip Advisor about this boat tour but as soon as we saw the signs for it, we couldn't not go on!! It was our 2year old daughter's first time on a sea boat and she loved it, as did we. Very accommodating with allowing us to bring the pram on board and a very lovely, heart warming touch by offering us blankets should we have got too cold whilst on the tour. The boats captain was very knowledgeable about the history of points of interest and provided a lovely commentary. 100% would recommend this boat tour to anyone, we certainly will be back for another trip whenever we are next in Caernarfon!!

We took the 3pm cruise. Booked our seats via text message and paid cash on arrival. Our cruise was very quiet. The pilot gave us quite a lot of information throughout, unfortunately due to the low cloud we couldn’t see the mountains or Snowdon. Not that exciting for young children as our five your old told us.
JB M — Google review
Nice cruise company. Please note only cash accepted. Kiosk where tickets are sold is very inconspicuous wooden building 1x2 meter so look carefully for it. It's located between carpark and the marina next to where ships are. Remember to bring spare coat on board as it might be cold at sea. Remember not to sit next to speakers as it is to loud when capitan talks facts about the area. Our cruise taken 45minutes. 3adult and 2children was £40.

It opens at 6.30pm, I arrived at 6.25pm. Place had closed sign on door and in darkness. Tried door, then a man opened it. He said have you booked?, I replied yes,he said we aren't open yet, then said come in. Highly unprofessional and unreal greeting to a customer. Walked in and no life at all inside, this is minutes till place is open. A waitress gave us a table, so let's hope a good meal ahead. Bill came to £60. House wine was rubbish, only had a carafe at £12.50, couldn't face any more. I will never forget this poor meal. You go judge for yourselves, others may think differently. The olives were tasty. The two girls serving did a good job carrying plates up and down awful flight of stairs.

Absolutely superb and truly authentic Greek Island dishes. This is Greek Meze, you order lots of small plates to share. My favourite was saganaki (prawns) delicious and the sauce is the best thing to go with bread. The favourite for the whole table was the meatballs. ordered 6 dishes, 3 breads, 1 chips and 4 drinks bill was £58. This was just right to feed 2 adults a 9yr and 3yr. I've not experienced food like this before and I wanted to stay forever. Each dish was a masterpiece but I will be thinking about the salmon for a very long time. The wait staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, I felt so looked after. My family had a fantastic time. This is now my bar for a dining experience and I am not sure how it could be surpassed. A perfect evening. I hope I get to go back one day. Truly special.

Fantastic eating experience. They pay a lot of attention to detail on each course, using a really good variety flavours. The use of local produce is a nice touch. We did the wine matching which really complimented each dish. Service was very attentive and knowledgeable. The eating area is well spaced downstairs, with excellent choice of music 👌🏼

Fantastic taster menu - each dish blew our minds! Superb showcase of local produce, within an inventive, exciting menu. Beautifully presented dishes, served by talented and friendly staff. A very special evening - look no further if you want an exceptional dining experience in North Wales! Diolch o galon.

Amazing food, a hidden gem in Caernarfon! Some of the best food I've had in the area, staff very welcoming and knowledgeable about the dishes and you can tell the chef really cares about the food and keeping things local and seasonal. A must try for foodies!

Flawless experience on 5th June. Wonderful local food and exceptional wines! Paul, Charlie and the rest of the team looked after us brilliantly! Thanks so much. Hope to be back again soon!

Fantastic tasting menu, with excellent wine pairing. The Dahl was the standout signature dish, but all of the others were perfectly executed

Excellent food - best meal we had in Wales. Just book it. Enjoyed the focus on local ingredients and originality of the dishes. Very much a high end experience. Only very minor criticism of the food was the lamb main, which was middle eastern inspired, and other than using Welsh lamb, just didn’t fit thematically with the rest of the meal. Beyond the food itself, the rest of the experience doesn’t quite match up - inconsistent timing, strange wine list, and odd decor. Nonetheless strongly recommend.

Was spending time out in North Wales and booked last minute. Paul, the head chef was really kind and accommodating. Rupert was excellent as head waiter with a great team. The food was exceptional. I was in jeans and trainers but made to feel very welcome. Ate alone and had the 10 course taster and the four hours flew by and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Will go back.

Restaurant
Villa Marina offers delicious pizza, pasta and Mediterranean staples in a cozy and relaxing setting with castle views from the top floor. The staff are friendly and quick, and the decor is quaint and cute. Highly recommend!
An absolute gem of a find.... could not recommend this fabulous restaurant enough. Our food was so incredibly full of flavour. I had the garlic mushrooms starter followed by the chicken roulade and my husband the marinated chicken strips starter folliwed by the lasagne. The deserts were excellent too. Lovely small and friendly restaurant,. The staff were excellent and we can't wait to revisit.

Lovely little place with more seats upstairs. Glad to see gluten free options. Bear in mind if you want to have gluten free bread and pasta, they would cost extra ( from £1 to 1.50) . The starters were very good. The mushroom starter was good but a bit tad sour to my liking. The gluten free bread was surprisingly springy. Super tasty. I had the vogole pasta for main. The flavour was good but too salty for me. There was a combination of tin clams and precooked white clams. I kind of expected it, but it would be nice to have fresh clams. Probably the best Italian in Caernarfon.

Really delicious dinner with decadent portion sizes. Very friendly and quick service, and the people who work there were lovely. Quaint, cute decor. Highly recommend.

My lord. This place was amazing!! My included picture describes my experience... fully cleaned my plate. It was the perfect amount of food, I was stuffed, but wanted more. If you're in the area stop by this little hidden gem. I wish I could give more than 5*s.

Service not great. Food was ok although my brother found a hair in his pizza and there wasn't many non meat options.

Best pizza ever, and the pasta my partner had looked incredible. We were able to take away the pizza I couldn't finish, and we all enjoyed finishing it later that night. Lovely place, good management, good atmosphere. Great place to watch sports on the big screen

Covid measures in place, great food, fast and friendly service, no waiting to get in despite bot booking ahead. Stayed in Caernarfon to climb Snowdon and was delighted with this post climb meal.

Cocktails are either excellent or comically bad, depending on who serves them. Unless you don't mind a complete faff ordering drinks and are happy to complain when it all goes wrong, avoid.

Didn't even bother to eat due to the awful customer service. Entered the premises and waited by the "wait here to be seated sign" and got totally ignored by the staff. We were in eye contact with all of the staff and nobody bothered to approach us or even acknowledge our requirements for a table. After a few minutes we decided to leave and go elsewhere, only to find perfect customer service and great food. For a company who have signs outside stating they'd missed their customers and glad they were back open, their customer service certainly doesn't promote that philosophy.

Me and my friends went for a trip to see the castle, we got hungry and we were very lucky to find this place. We had pizzas, 3 of us loved them, we were full and kept eating. Very nice insight, confy couches with TV great atmosphere and very friendly stuff!!!

Nicely located bar/diner mainly serving fast food. Some nice elevated views over the river. Food was good, generous size portion's and not to badly priced. Not a massive menu, and only a few vegetarian options. Service was great, with friendly staff.
Darren R — Google review
Good customer service and good food for your money. Didnt have to wait long for our food and drink to be delivered.
Dana H — Google review
Visted here on a family holiday. We were greeted snd guided to a table and given time to pick what we wanted. The menu was a bit limited, but makes up for this in huge portions of food. The service was quick but this may be due to the fact the place was empty. The pizza was nice and the chips are amazing! Price was reasonable but seemed that the place was a little empty, may of visted at a bad time.
