Tramways
Seaton Tramway is a charming heritage narrow-gauge tram line that spans 3 miles of unspoiled countryside in the Axe Valley, connecting Seaton, Colyford, and Colyton. The picturesque journey takes you through two nature reserves and offers stunning views of the River Axe estuary and its abundant wading bird life.
Lovely old world attraction that takes you through some picturesque countryside and ends up in the town of Colyton which is a nice place to wander around and grab some lunch. I would say not really suited to older children, but good day out for the family and you can get on and off all you like at other stops and make a full day of it! Well worth a visit!
Antony H — Google review
This attraction is so fun for everyone no matter your age. We visited with my Husband and had so much fun riding the tramways. The ride is around the countryside and the natural reserve with birds all around that are flying just above your head if you’re seated upstairs. It’s so beautiful! There’s few stops if you want to explore and coming back later. But there’s one where everyone has to come out in a small village. There’s a cafe, toilets and a souvenir shop. You can take the same tramway right away for the return or wait a bit to try another one. We tried a different tramway for the way back and decided to sit upstairs. It’s way more fun in our opinion but it’s nice to experience both. If you love old vehicles like ourselves you need to do it!

I don't give 5 stars often. Realy Nice . We started at the other end first as parking was realy good. (Furthest from Seaton ) im rubbish at remembering names. Getting there .... Trouble was we went the country road way to it . Hahahha blimey 🤣 . I think my sat nav was against me and used the narrowest roads out. City boys to Country Side folk . We do 60 on dual carriageway and can see infront they do that with hedges hitting each wing mirror blindfolded hahahha. We went in the wrong end so missed the sign posts. But thats part of the adventure isn't it. You must try Seaton Tramway. The staff are volunteers and passionate . We took our best mate and she was so welcome and of course had to sit downstairs 😀. There's an area on route where dogs are not allowed but you can understand why. We had a unlimited ticked but just used it to the end and back but best buy. Now we wished we stopped off some stops. Do it relax with the train track sound and enjoy the view. Our best mate was not sure what was happening on way but enjoyed the wind , but on the journey on the way back she was snoring 😴 😀 loved it
CTS W — Google review
Lovely way to ride into Seaton. Caught the tram from the Clayton station and went passed some lovely sites. Wetlands looked an interesting stop but thought we'd carry straight onto Seaton and ran out of time to stop on the way back. Staff and facilities are brilliant. Highly recommended way to travel unto Seaton if you're visiting for a day.
Matt C — Google review
Love it, we do a trip every autumn and enjoy the experience ever time, plus the dog can come to as she is welll behaved. A walk down to the end of the beach path and a great cafe awaits you with home made soup and delicious cakes.
Bowcreekbloomers — Google review
It's nice that an old railway line has been given another purpose. We had a nice ride down Colyton where we had a lovely cream tea at the very pretty station. The only thing for us was that we couldn't stop at the wetland stop as we had our dog. It would be good if there was more info on what to do at each stop, but was good to get a ride on a tram.
Mandy D — Google review
Everyone is right - Seaton Tramway lives up to the hype. It’s quirky, it’s cute, it’s ’different’. Enthusiastic staff operate charming old trams on a gorgeously scenic route up to Colyton. There’s something for the whole family here. Get involved.
Richard W — Google review
Ride one of 14 trams in the fleet for three miles in one direction and back. A rover ticket allows you all day hoping on and off at any station. Dogs can ride but cant visit the nature reserve. Mind your head when on the trams as they are smaller than you think, but interesting.

Outdoor Activities
Seaton Beach, located in Devon and at the heart of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, offers a picturesque setting for active holidays. The South West Coast Path is easily accessible from the seafront, providing options for leisurely walks or more challenging hikes. Cyclists can also enjoy the path as well as numerous bridle paths and trails throughout the area. The pebble beach spans over a mile and features a level esplanade with convenient parking options nearby.
A very nice pebbly beach with some beach huts. It's not a gently shelving beach so it's goes quite deep quickly as you enter the water. It is a beach though which isn't overcrowded with tourists and all that comes with that. A huge plus point in my book
Emyr F — Google review
Very large and long pebble beach, never gets crowded because of it's size. Parking behind beach or in town. Has public toilets half way along beach but have to cross over 2 roads and just before Tesco, or far end by the slipway (town direction) 2 kiosks 1 either end selling ice creams, the cafes and bars are in town.
Sue S — Google review
A beautiful little town and beach with some amazing scenery and a great place for sailing and watersports. There is some lovely shop, pubs and cafes and a good market once a month. The people here are very friendly and welcoming and although a small town, it has all the amenities you need locally so I would definitely recommend a visit!
Sl — Google review
Amazing pebbles beach. Crystal clear water, my son and I totally loved it. The promenade is lovely and full of nice restaurants.
Rico B — Google review
Seaton Beach is a hidden gem on the south coast — clean, peaceful, and perfect for a relaxing day by the sea. The beach has a mix of sand and pebbles, making it ideal for walking, paddling, or just sitting and enjoying the view. The water is clear and safe for swimming, and there's plenty of space even during busier times. The promenade is well-maintained, with cafes and shops nearby for snacks or lunch. Parking is easy and reasonably priced, and public toilets are clean and accessible. What really sets Seaton apart is its calm atmosphere and stunning views — it's the perfect spot to unwind. Highly recommend for families, couples, or anyone looking for a quieter alternative to the more crowded tourist spots.
Stuart B — Google review
Loved it. You can do a really nice walk underneath the cliffs during low tide.
Anne P — Google review
Pebbly so not a favorite for families but that makes it quiet for a lovely walk along the promenade. One of my favourite beaches
Sallyanne R — Google review
Beautiful views out from the beach and a lovely promenade for walking. However, the abandoned building works on the seaside buildings really spoils the feel of the seafront. It would have been nice to have a cuppa along that front but it all looked very sad.

Seaton Jurassic is a family-friendly visitor center that offers a range of activities for both kids and adults. Visitors can enjoy fossil digging, guided walks, fishing, and even dressing up in animal costumes. The area around Seaton also has plenty to offer families, including seafront walks, bike rides along the coast, craft activities at Coastal Craft Collective, and a play garden at Seaton Jurassic. Nature lovers can explore Seaton Wetlands with its hides and trails through marshland and meadows.
We visited today with friends and the kids absolutely loved it. My little one was very nervous about going into the exhibit at first and the staff were absolutely amazing at talking to him and giving him the confidence to go in and see the dinosaurs. The staff continued to be so friendly and attentive throughout the day. I would highly recommend. The adults loved it too!
Chloe T — Google review
I took my 8-year-old son on Sunday, and he absolutely loved it. The staff — especially the manager or owner — were fantastic and very welcoming. While the place is fairly small with just two dinosaur rooms, the animatronics were truly impressive! My son had a great time exploring and learning about the different dinosaurs. Thank you for such a memorable and enjoyable visit!
Lindsay — Google review
Awesome place. Spent a good 4 hours if not more here. Looking at different dinosaurs & fossils. Looked for dinosaur poo 💩 then had packed lunch although u can purchase it. Then we followed that up with 2 hours in the soft play. Both kids slept all the way back home 🤣. Booking is essential especially for the soft play
Marc D — Google review
Great dinosaurs, lots of information and lovely staff. Also, the best soft play we have ever been too, my daughter (and us) loved it! No free car park but 2 right next door with just park app available making it easy!
Jed — Google review
My little boy (age 4), my Dad and I had a great time here today! Fantastic and realistic animatronic dinosaurs, really educational but fun - we all enjoyed it 🦖 🦕 The trail itself takes around 30 mins or so but leads out into the garden and the fossil display which is really worth a look too. Lovely staff, reasonably priced tickets (cheaper to book online) and gift shop. The soft play is an extra (£4 per child) and although we didn’t go into the soft play today, I’d still say that’s a very fair price comparing to softplays at home in Bristol. All in all, a highly recommended, family-friendly addition to Seaton and we’ll definitely be visiting again!
Jade G — Google review
Took a group of children with disabilities to this wonderful place and the visit couldn't have gone better. They loved the dinosaurs, which were amazing, the soft play, the dinosaur poo hunt and especially the sand fossil dig. We couldn't get them out! The place is great for disability access and spotlessly clean. Cafe food lovely. Best of all the staff were superb. From the moment we arrived, they made us so welcome and we hugely appreciated the audio dinosaur tour. They were so friendly and helpful. Thank you 😊
Laura H — Google review
Jurassic Discovery is worth 40 minutes of your time, especially if combined with the tram (talk of spending ‘hours’ here is bold). The animatronic dinosaurs exceeded expectations if I’m honest and there’s a nice little walk around the garden to finish - don’t miss the fossil room.
Richard W — Google review
Great afternoon, kids loved it. Not much seating when it’s busy but hey that’s the pitfalls of a good soft play right? Clean, tidy, polite and kind staff. Will certain come back soon.

Great venue. Beautiful large surprising space. Great Moscow Drug Club gig the other night. Looking forward to an amazing Acantha Lang gig at the start of December

We had a fabulous evening at the Gateway last night watching the film Jules. The hall was warm, the welcome friendly, and the toilets clean. The bar may not be subsidised, but we are happy to help fund such a wonderful local resource, that Seaton is so lucky to have. By having such a great entertainment venue locally, we save on time and petrol to visit other places,. I would encourage everyone to use the Gateway.

A very lovely place, staff extremely friendly. Really enjoyed the work shop with Flavia as always. Looking forward to seeing it as a theatre setting tonight with Flavia and Jimi "Our life at the barn" An lovely setting for many different events.
Karen F — Google review
Thoroughly enjoyed the film with picnic beforehand. The arrangers were very helpful ensuring we were able to sit with our friends, following our request by phone earlier in the week. The new facilities are great. The only downside was that I felt it to be a little crowded in these COVID times.
Jacki H — Google review
Went to see an NT Live stream ('Stir Line Crazy' with Ralph Fiennes). I think it used to be the town hall but it is a nice theatre space, quite intimate. I liked the layout of tables at the front; where I sat, with the rows of seats behind. Run by volunteers I believe. Includes a nice little bar area and ample toilet facilities.

A charming and well run attribute to Seaton. Very helpful and polite volunteers, a well stocked bar and so much going on. Everyone is so friendly. We went to a picnic film night and were able to change seats to a table at short notice. Use it or lose it!

Seaton Hole Beach

Beach
Seaton Hole Beach is a hidden gem nestled at the western end of Seaton Bay, offering visitors a tranquil escape from the busier beaches nearby. This picturesque cove is perfect for rock pooling and swimming, making it an ideal spot for families and nature lovers alike. With its stunning views, it's no wonder that Seaton Hole has become a favorite among photographers looking to capture its beauty.
From town, walk towards the main road going to the Coast Path (Seaton). It is more thrilling and exciting to welcome the Seaton Hole Beach view from up the cliff down to the coast, instead of connecting from Seaton Beachfront going up to the cliff. Priceless creation views!
Fatima S — Google review
Seaton Hole Beach is a fairly short pebble beach. At the eastern end of the beach are rocks leading down most of the way to the water. The western end of the beach taper to a rocky headland covered with trees and with a crumbling chalk cliff overhead. The inland edge of the beach is supported with large rocks, below crumbling cliff faces. Access to the beach is via a steep-ish path with steps. There are lots of signs warning of the danger of unstable cliffs. Seaton becomes inaccessible from Seaton Hole beach, at high tide. We went to the beach a few times to enjoy the sunset and on a couple of occasions, photograph the rising full moon.
Peter M — Google review
If you walk from Beer to Seaton along the Coastal Path you will have Two options as you approach Seaton. The first is to continue straight ahead on a nice downward slope to Seaton. Or alternatively turn right and take a steep downhill path to Seaton Hole Beach. There you have a nice scenic walk along a shingle beach to Seaton Promenade. Be advised though that it can be quite hard going walking along the pebbles. It is well worth the extra effort though and you can always get a nice tea or coffee at the Cafe waiting for you at the steps to the promenade
Anthony H — Google review
Lovely spot. Steep climb but worth it. Cafe near by
James C — Google review
Great rugged walk across stones and boulders. At low tide in calm weather you can scramble to Beer beach along bottom of cliff. Keep an eye out for cliff falls avoid attempts in inclement weather.
Brian B — Google review
Sloping pebble beach. Lovely clear water for a swim, and has some rock pools. Easy to land a kayak. Up the steep steps to a snack at Jurassic Bites, then on for a scenic coastal walk to Beer.

Seaton Wetlands is a relatively new nature reserve that offers free entry and is filled with diverse wildlife. Visitors can enjoy pond dipping, meet Dormice in the Discovery Hut, and observe Swallows, Herons, and Moorhens from the hides. The reserve also provides opportunities for organized mini-beast adventures and equipment hire for pond dipping. Additionally, Seaton itself serves as a natural playground for outdoor enthusiasts with its abundance of water sports activities and trails for walkers and cyclists to explore.
What a gem of a place. First visit, and won't be the last. It was so peaceful and much bigger than I expected it to be. Well looked after and lots of little hidden pretty areas to sit and relax. A place to buy a hot drink, lots of friendly helpful people there to offer advice. Well worth a visit. Loved it.

Lovely place to visit. Easy to find and park. Donation for parking. Great place to take the kids omln their bikes or scooters, you can just walk on the tarmacked areas. Lots of viewpoints - take binoculars if you want to identify the birds.
Chris B — Google review
A nice place to walk around and see water fowl And various plants. There are hides dotted at various places that provide good protection against wind and rain, or on hot sunny days. There's also viewing points and ponds as well as wooden sculptures. The car park is stony and small with no defined bays. It gets busy at times and there's no alternative place to park so it can be a challenge to find a spot. It is a nice location and on good days plenty of bird life to see with kestrels and woodland birds in addition to the water birds.
S W — Google review
Our first visit on a cold December day and we thoroughly enjoyed our few hours, the paths were lovely and wide/clear and plenty to explore with the little ones with the added charm of the robin trail which was great. Enjoyed the hide, never seen a shelduck before so that was nice to spot. Staff in the discovery centre were very welcoming and informative, lots to look at and talk about aswell as somewhere to grab a tea/snack to warm up. The little river walk was so pretty and all the little activity ideas along the way were brilliant. Never been on the tram, was nice to see it in action and plan for another day out. looking forward to coming back in a warmer season to see the transition. Parking was free and easy to find. No negatives for us

Amazing place for all. Easy to walk round saw some lovely birds flowers etc. Lots of signs with interesting things for kids to find/do. One set of wooden seats has a sign saying look up to the clouds and see what shapes you can make. I didn't see a shape but the sky looked stunning.

Nestled in Seaton, Yeungs House is a hidden gem for Chinese food lovers. This takeaway spot has garnered rave reviews for its exceptional dishes, particularly the chicken satay, which many claim to be the best they've ever tasted. Diners appreciate the cleanliness of the kitchen and the friendly staff who provide efficient service. Regular patrons from Colyford often highlight Yeungs House as their go-to for delicious meals, praising everything from house special chow mein to pancake rolls.
Best chicken satay I’ve ever had! The food isn’t greasy at all, and everything I ordered was delicious. The kitchen is very clean (I’ve worked in restaurants before, so I know how much that says about the standards here). And the staff are absolutely lovely. I’d give this place 12 out of 10!

I’m shocked of how good this Chinese food is. Every meal was spot on and the satay chicken is top tier! They are cash only but let you transfer money if needed, brilliant. I lived in London going to some top Chinese Restaurants and although this place is takeaway food, they have absolutely nailed all dishes! Great work and a nice family 🙏

A great restaurant near to the tramway station in Seaton. No alcohol served here but you can bring your own. This wasn't a problem for me. Great selection on the menu, reasonably priced. Great service too, very friendly. I had the garlic chicken which was delicious. I will definitely be back next time I'm in the area. Highly recommend. Thank you.

Jurassic Bites @ Seaton Hole Kiosk is a gem that every seaside town should boast. The delightful owners have transformed the space into a welcoming haven, complete with stunning views that enhance your dining experience. Every seaside town should have a cafe like this - immaculately clean, freshly cooked food and masses of homemade cakes, sandwiches, treats and extras, plus kids and veggie options. Add in delightful, cheerful owners (who have even taken over the decrepit ex council toilets and tidied them up) plus the most amazing views and this is a must-see spot for your holiday. Walk up from the coastal path or drive down, it’s worth every penny and one of the best cafes we’ve ever visited. And we love a good breakfast, so we’re experts 😁

Great food, very friendly staff/team/owners and fantastic view. We've been coming here for years, Lee and Julie are so welcoming to everyone, and the food is fantastic. The portions are very generous, the ham in the toastie very thick, chutneys all taste great. The salads are fresh and crunchy. Everything is made on demand so don't expect it to arrive quickly but it is well worth the wait. It's very nice to stop at the top and enjoy the view, but it's just as good to get a takeaway and eat on the very nice pebble beach below.

I think I'm addicted to the brakefast here. I visit Seaton and the jurassic coast at every opportunity. I always pop into this cafe (dependent on season opening times) Honestly if you get chance try it. I have tried quite alot of the meals on the menu, but still can't help myself, going back to the large brakefast and it's under a tenner.

Top quality food in a beautiful and peaceful setting. Friendly service and we will make sure we return when we’re here again next year.

Jurassic bites offers an absolutely fantastic variety of tasty toasties and delicious cakes. They also have a fab selection of drinks. The service is absolutely impeccable there and the nice lady and gentleman who served my mother were very friendly and most helpful. Jurassic bites makes Seaton hole complete and is absolutely worth a visit.

Great food and service, fair prices. Quickly served our large group 9f walkers on a busy day. Everyone loved the toasties and varied breakfast baps.

Very clean and nice owners. The sandwiches were enormous with cheap ham. Enough for 2 people. There is no need to sell such gross sizes. I didn't enjoy them. The presentation is as important as the quality . The ham you serve is cheap,I threw it away. Never again.

If you find yourself in Seaton, make sure to stop by Flipside for a delightful culinary experience. This charming eatery specializes in mouthwatering burgers slathered in rich sauces, alongside an array of comfort food favorites like pulled pork buns, hot dogs, and nachos. Recently adding cheesecake to their dessert menu has made it even more tempting! They also cater to dietary needs with gluten-free burger buns.
Our favourite restaurant in Seaton which has now unfortunately shut down which is very sad. We loved all the food, especially the dirty fries which are epic. They had a great selection of beers including Elvis juice which is my favourites. Good luck to the owner ( chef ) and his Dad who does front of house in whatever the do in the future.

We had an early doors booking which suited us . Good fresh food, good selection of beers. Good service. Do book ahead as they are busy.

We stopped off at Seaton on the way down to Cornwall and we stayed at the premier inn opposite this restaurant so thought we would give it a go. We were told there was going to be a wait for our food but that we could take a seat and order drinks. The waiter managed to get us in early with our food orders which was really kind, so very pleased with the service. The burgers were okay, we really wanted to love them but they weren’t that full of flavour. However, the frickles (fried pickles with blue cheese) were out of this world!
Sammi P — Google review
Great food great music playing (well we enjoyed the rock tracks from the 60's to the 00's). We booked as the Thyme Restaurant in the nearby Premier was closed and frankly we were all pleased it was as we thoroughly enjoyed our meal at The Flipside. Good choice of beers and lagers to choose from. And the gentleman taking orders and serving was a good laugh and very friendly. We will be back and will definitely be ordering a takeaway. My wife's and my friends favourite discovery were the Frickles (deep-fried gherkin served with blue cheese). Highly Recommend !!!

Great burger bar, with a big selection of beer. Burgers where really good quality, cooked to perfection. The biggest onion rings I've ever seen and great fries. We will definitely be back when we come to Seaton again.

14th August 2019 Friendly manager, attentive. Lovely food and served promptly. Very tasty beef burgers and love the toppings. Book to avoid disappointment during peak season. Easy to see why it gets booked, one of the best places to eat in Seaton in my humble opinion if you like bistro/american style/chic burgers. Try the 'dirty fries'

Drove to Flipside in Seaton for burgers while down in Lyme Regis. We tried 4 different burgers and dirty fries. Everyone said they were best burgers we have had in ages. Great thing is you can customize your burger. Service was good. Highly recommend and will definitely go back. The Saffas

This burger restaurant was very convenient to the hotel we were staying in. I had a chicken burger and chips with cheese and they were delicious. My husband had a burger with blue cheese and that was scrumptious. There was a nice selection of bottled beer and the gentleman serving was very nice. The Hotdogs looked great as well. I wished I could have tried one, but I didn't have room. Very nice food

Beer Beach is a charming south-facing shingle beach nestled between limestone cliffs, making it an ideal spot for families and holidaymakers. It's not just a picturesque destination; it's also a working beach with an active fishing fleet that offers fishing trips for visitors. The surrounding area boasts beach cafes, fresh fish shops, deck chairs, and quaint pubs and restaurants, creating the quintessential English seaside experience.
Fantastic little village with plenty to explore and an incredible beach. This was our favourite place during our nearby holiday and we easily spent a couple of hours looking in rockpools along the beach. There's a great little play area for kids in the shape of a ship which went down well (although theres only steps into and out of this so might not be very disabled friendly )

Lively beach with white cliffs. Good for fishing, swimming or boat trips. The beach is a good place for families to enjoy the sea.

What can I say. Walking on the pebbles is hellish. But this is the best beach in the world. And I've been to bondi. This is better. The cafes are great. Equipment hire (bring cash!) the waves are exciting. It is the perfect spot to go.

Scenic Walking Areas
Hiking Trails
Hooken Cliffs, located near Beer in South Devon, offer a unique coastal walk with stunning views and unusual landscapes. The cliffs collapsed in 1790, resulting in an extraordinary section of coast with colossal chalk cliff sections rising from the ground. The trail takes you through overgrown areas with different flora and fauna compared to the surrounding beach and cliffs. It's advised to stay on the main path as some side paths can lead to dead ends or steep drops.
I completed this circular walk twice in the past year. Once alone and once with my teenager. Fantastic views. Wear sturdy shoes. We stuck to the main path. Some steep sheet drops.
Sarah L — Google review
Late afternoon - free access coastal path walk at the 'Golden Hour' when everything is tinted warm gold before sunset. Spectacular views over the chalk cliffs.
Janet G — Google review
Stunning views. Walked the coastal path from Branscombe to Beer Head and returned on the cliff top walk. Though challenging, we decided that was probably the better way round as the walk up to the cliff top from Branscombe Beach looked gruelling.
Sue C — Google review
Walked from Branscombe Beach taking the undercliff path then up to join the top path to Beer, where the other half picked me up from the Anchor Inn. The colours in the cliffs in this area are great as the sandstone in the west starts to give way to the chalk in the east.
Toxteth G — Google review
Nice walk we started off doing the hill & went back through the caravan park. Then had a coffee & sat on the beach in the sun

Lovely walking route along these cliffs, between Beer and Branscombe, with beautiful views.

Great walk from Branscombe to Beer and back. I'd recommend taking the path on top of the cliff towards Beer and go back using the path that goes under the cliff. Fantastic views either way.

The finest part of the Beer to Branscombe walk. Both romantic and impressive. One can descend to Branscombe beach via a narrow path winding among the cliffs.

Pecorama is a family-friendly park in Beer, featuring train rides, performing clowns, and various activities for kids aged one to 12. The Millennium Gardens offer celestial-themed garden rooms connected by scented walkways and water features. The top of the Gallery resembles a ruined castle surrounded by a moat. Pecorama is also home to the world's leading manufacturer of model railway track, PECO Streamline and PECO Setrack.
Excellent place to visit for both adults and children alike. Lovely miniature train ride with very friendly and helpful staff. Several playgrounds for the kids and a games area in a marquee for when the weather is less favourable. Spent a good two and half hours here and everyone had a nice time.
Sarah M — Google review
A lovely day spent wandering about looking at the model scenes, a quick train journey and a nice wander through the gardens. Currently 50% off ticket (June 2025 visit, not sure how long the code applies for) as it is their 50th anniversary. Well appointed facilities. Good signposting. Beautiful gardens to wander around. Had a cream tea which was delicious 😋 Only downside was the train ride. Sat with my family but moved by the man getting everyone on to accommodate a family to sit together. He didn't check I was then with my group but to compensate when he realised was to allow us another ride however as we had our dog with us another go around with all the smoke was not a good idea. Glad the other family sat together 😂 I am not sure the poor man who was then lumbered with me sat opposite him was altogether happy. As I had no family near me, as they were moved to the back and I was moved to the middle, he was equally as unhappy as he had to put up with me forcing him to speak! Note to self: not everyone appreciates chatting 🤯 A lovely day out. A must for little kids. So many activities to do. There was a tent at the top of the hill with giant Jenga, bean bag toss, connect 4, giant dominos, table tennis...lots to keep kids amused. Crazy golf, climbing frames, swings.

Returned 15 years later now with my own 19 month old (I used to visit with my grandparents all the time!) it was such a wonderful, nostalgic morning for me and our toddler loved it too. Beautiful gardens to wander around, great play park and the miniature train ride was obviously the highlight! Love how it weaves in and out of the gardens, down a long tunnel, really is beautiful. Don’t miss the model railway exhibition, I could have stayed in there for ages watching the trains go round. Just losing a star as I think the toilets could have been cleaner and better baby changing facilities. Other than that, great day out.

A great place to visit with our five year old grandson. We loved the railway and train ride, complete with moles. Great railway models. Play area and zip wire. Good food! & only one, short, sharp shower 👌 😎

What a brilliant day out for all the family. Even Grandad enjoyed it! Some beautiful gardens, great play areas, fun train ride. Lots of shady spots to sit with a picnic. Very clean and well kept. Very impressed. My 4 year old is desperate to go back. My only minor point is that there are no water fountains to refill bottles but the lady in the cafe offered to do this.
Bex P — Google review
Pecorama is a magical place for both children and adults as long as you like steam trains and model railways. They have extended the miniature railway since our last visit, now the train journey is longer and more enjoyable. The model layouts are fascinating and the attention to detail is perfection. Lots of inspiration for creating your own layout, and the chance to purchase the track and engines to run on it. There are lots of activities for children to enjoy with food outlets or the option to picnic when hunger strikes. A very enjoyable day out for all ages.

Nestled just a short stroll from the seafront, the Seaton Labyrinth and Geological Timeline offer a unique blend of art and natural history. The labyrinth, spanning an impressive 60 feet in diameter with 11 intricate circuits, was created to commemorate Seaton's 1000th anniversary in 2005. This stunning spiral walk not only invites visitors to explore its design—drawing inspiration from famous labyrinths like those at Chartres Cathedral—but also provides breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

Seaton, it's a brilliant place. A small little quite town. There's not much noise. You're able to take a brilliant tram ride to Seaton, and go through time. The beach is exceptional, brilliant examples of segmentation are in abundance and fossils too are not very hard to find. It's picturesque when both sunny and cloudy and beach shacks run along in a line. All in different colours, taking you back to your child hood. Fishing too is not very hard as the shelf goes down rather fast and steep, hence you really don't need to cast out very far. Seaton Beach is truly an amazing place. Oh and there's a big tesco's next to the tram station when you arrive, so feel free to replenish your stock.

Seaton Labyrinth is in a public open space in Seaton...part of a park space. Free to explore. It is quite well maintained and the geology timeline is right beside the labyrinth. Great for children. There are benches nearby and great views of coastline, fresh sea air from the labyrinth. There is also a finger labyrinth beside the stone one for people with limited vision, children and people who enjoy more tactile experiences.

Called in as usual for a bar snack. We found a table easily. It was clean and tidy. Had the normal fish finger sandwich. It was well presented and was one of the best we have had there. As it was a sunny day just after the main season the staff were very busy. We were served efficiently by a friendly and helpful Jess. Full marks !

Had a lovely lunch today, Robert the waiter was very polite and friendly and the food was very tasty. The pie was great with a fully enclosed crust. Just what the doctor ordered. Only issue was the queue for placing the orders and time for waiting. It felt like not enough people were serving. All together a pleasant experience.

10/09/25 We visited the Anchor Inn at Beer last night and had the best meal we have had in a very long time. We eat out a lot but the Anchor Inn would be hard to beat for the quality of the food, the excellent and very competitive prices and very importantly... the quality and friendliness of the service provided. All the staff were first class but we must make a special mention of "Jess" who looked after us most of the evening. If someone needs to know the skills of customer service they should spend an evening with "Jess". Her infectious personality coupled with her bubbly and friendly nature and her overwhelming desire to make sure everything is to your satisfaction is outstanding. Well done Jess and all the other super staff. We have booked again for tonight and can't wait for another excellent dining experience. Many thanks to all concerned.... Martin.... Jackie... Ade..... Gorgeous little dog-friendly pub with great food (the fish is unbelievably fresh and moist, cooked to perfection and definitely recommended). The service was impeccable and the prices reasonable. We went out of season (mid September after the kids had gone back to school) so it was lovely and quiet. In the summer I would assume it gets very busy... We'll definitely be going back!

We visited on a Bank Holiday Sunday and although busy, especially so in their outside seating area, there were tables available inside the pub. The pub was clean and staff helpful and friendly. We ordered a Sunday Roast and were pleasantly surprised that our food came along so quickly on a busy Sunday. The food was tasty, well cooked and hit just the right spot. We'd worked up an appetite from a coastal stroll and the portion size was just right and revived, not only our tastebuds, but our flagging energy levels without over stuffing us! Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch.

Stopped for lunch on a very sunny day. We had our dog with us and were made to feel very welcome. Both outside tables were either reserved or taken, so went inside. There was just one other couple in, however soon filled up in the next half hour. The curry and rice and mushroom and leak pastry were ordered. I was informed the curry was very tasty and was duly dispatched. I had the mushrooms and leak pastry, they were delicious very creamy and moorish. There were plenty of chips ( I did have help eating them) and the salad, again was delicious. I finished the meal with a flat white and should have had another one. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Well worth the visit

It is an absolute pleasure to come across this truly delightful eatery in the charming town of Beer. The level of service provided by the entire staff was nothing short of exceptional, exceeding expectations in every way. When dining with two young children, Chef Toby went above and beyond to ensure their comfort and happiness, even going as far as offering his own children's coloring books and pens. The cuisine itself was heavenly, leaving us so enthralled that we forgot to capture it on camera.
I don’t usually write reviews but I recently came across Steamers while on a road trip in Devon just before Christmas. Initially intrigued by the cute entrance, the atmosphere inside was warm and inviting, and the food was exceptional. They had an especially curated Christmas menu, we went with the three-course option which truly exceeded our expectations. For starters, we shared the scallops and turkey croquettes, both of which were beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. The scallops were large, tender, and came with a pistachio sauce which I thought was very unique. The turkey croquettes were a festive twist on a tapas classic. For the mains, we had the pork tenderloins and the brill. The pork was succulent and full of flavour and the brill was cooked to perfection with a buttery finish that had us almost licking the entire plate. For dessert we got the chocolate and raspberry torte and a few espresso martinis that were delicious. After chatting with the staff, we were also pleased to hear that the restaurant is run by a family and it’s clear they’re putting their heart and soul into the place. The food, service, modern interior design and overall experience reflected the passion and care of the new owners - which was great to see. If you find yourself in Beer or East Devon in general, I highly recommend a visit/trip to Steamers - it’s a true gem, and we can’t wait to come back the next time we’re in Devon.

Had such a great experience at Steamers. It’s nicely tucked away just behind the high street, which gives it a bit of a hidden gem feel. The interior is stunning, really unique with a classy yet relaxed vibe that makes you feel instantly comfortable. The service was genuinely warm and welcoming, which made the whole evening even more enjoyable. I had the monkfish tail curry and it was exceptional. Full of flavour and the fish tasted incredibly fresh. I’m already looking forward to visiting again!
Alex B — Google review
The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the staff very helpful and friendly. The food is all cooked by a chef and was of superb quality. We were so impressed we immediately booked to go again near Christmas! We shared a plate of scallops with a panko breadcrumb crust which had a little chilli and pancetta in. We had a fish stew as a main, along with a Lamb Tagine on a couscous base with beautiful flavours. They also have a good selection of desserts. Thoroughly recommended.

We had the most lovely evening at Steamers - kids, parents and grandparents all loved the modern decor, relaxed ambiance and of course, the food! There was something for everyone, including the self--confessed fussy eater of the group. It was presented beautifully with generous servings, but still leaving room for one of the stunning desserts! You could tell this family run business really cared about the quality of its food and the experience of its customers. We’d highly recommend!

Beer Head Bistro, situated at Beer Head Caravan Park, offers breathtaking views of the ocean. Whether you're seeking a light meal or a refreshing drink in the sun, this bistro provides an excellent opportunity to soak in the stunning surroundings and capture envy-inducing photos for your social media. The menu features generously portioned and competitively priced dishes such as perfectly cooked fish and chips, sea bass, and chicken burger with chips.
Ate in the Bistro once for an evening meal, twice for breakfast and had a takeaway whilst on a recent holiday. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the bistro itself is dog friendly. I felt the menu offered me enough choice, (I can be quite fussy). Plenty of the ingredients are from the local area making use of other small businesses, which is a great philosophy to be able to have. Would definitely return.

Beer Head Bistro is a fantastic spot! Its internal design is really impressive, with well-placed signage that makes navigating easy. It's the perfect place to grab a coffee before a walk, especially with easy parking available. They offer a great blend of coffee, and the staff are wonderful.

We walked up from Beer for lunch after reading other positive reviews. The staff were very friendly and efficient and the food was good although the fish was slightly dry. The wine was very good and well chilled. The view of the bay is beautiful on a sunny day. We would love to go back again.

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Beer Quarry Caves. Not quite as popular as Seaton Tramway, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

Explore the ancient marvels of Beer Quarry Caves in East Devon, a 2000-year-old network of vaulted caves that have provided the renowned Beer Stone for centuries. This stone has been used in iconic structures like Exeter Cathedral and St Paul's in London. The guided tours offer a glimpse into the historical quarrying methods and the challenging conditions faced by workers, illuminated only by flickering tallow candles.
Fantastic hour and half spent. Guide Mike was very knowledgeable and we learnt so much. Would not recommend for very young children as there is a lot of historical facts and underground for some time. We loved it all though and highly recommend
Caroline S — Google review
Definitely book in advance for this fantastic hidden gem in Beer. Our tour guide Mike was fantastic telling us the story of how the quarry evolved over time, keeping us and two young children (7/8) fully engaged for the hour and a half (ish) tour. We hadn't planned to stop by, but it turned out to be one of the highlights of our holiday
Simon W — Google review
What a fantastic experience! Mike was a fantastic guide, obviously very knowledgeable and funny! Loved the tour, fantastic value for money. A real hidden gem! It is chillier than you'd expect so heed the words of the experts and wrap up warm!
Becky E — Google review
Mike, our tour guide, was incredibly knowledgeable on the history of this quarry. He was friendly, engaging and open to questions. What a great experience we had. Highly recommend this as a stop off in your adventures. The tour took approximately 1.5 hours and was an easy walk although some areas were a bit muddy. Proper shoes should do the trick.
Ashley R — Google review
Great visit today. Mike was our guide and gave a fantastic account of the history behind the caves and the methods used to cut and extract the blocks of stone. It was a great experience and fascinating to boot. Thanks Mike 👍🏻
Stuart H — Google review
What a find! We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Mike today. We literally had no idea the caves were so big, not to mentioned just how important they are, from a social history point of view. Put this place on your things to do, when you are in the area, you will not be disappointed. And thank you to Gill for the delicious hot chocolate drink.
Travelling C — Google review
Just enjoyed a fascinating tour of the quarry caves. Excavated by hand since Roman times. Our tour was expertly guided by Henry who was knowledgeable and engaging which enhanced the whole experience. You have the added benefit of Beer village nearby which is beautiful with a range of shops, eating and cafes on the beach. A fantastic day out- thank you.
Nick — Google review
Really enjoyable visit to Beer Quarry Caves which we stumbled across by accident and luckily found there was a tour starting in 10 minutes of our arrival. I believe that you can book a time. Really informative guide with a very dry sense of humour. Tour takes around an hour and a bit but it went quickly as the history telling was done so well. I am very warm blooded but by the end of the trip I was cold so wear something warm.

Saint Winifred's Church in Branscombe, Devon is an exceptional parish church that offers a unique blend of spirituality, history, tranquility, and community engagement. This remarkable Protestant church boasts a breathtaking location nestled in a picturesque valley. With its captivating Norman tower and rich historical significance, it stands as a testament to the area's heritage.
St Winifreds is simply one of the best parish churches you can visit. It's everything - holy, historical, serene, beautiful, part of the community and open for worship and for visit. It's taken me 3 years to write this review, partly because I'd lost count of how many times I have visited; but also as I didn't want to give it away to too many people!

Nature & Wildlife Areas
Nestled in a valley near Seaton, Holyford Woods Local Nature Reserve is a picturesque woodland offering delightful walks amidst the sunken stream that flows into the Stafford Brook and eventually to the Axe Estuary. The reserve features poorly marked trails, but once inside, visitors are treated to stunning bluebells and an array of wildflowers. With two pathways flanking the river, visitors can opt for short, medium or long walks.
Beautiful peaceful woods near Colyford. We reached the woods by walking up narrow lanes from Colyford, so not sure if there are any places to park up and walk from another side. Some steep parts in the woods if you choose those paths. Pathways seem well tended and cleared. Good sign posts. Beautiful streams. When we visited late on a Sunday afternoon in August we saw no one else! Photos attached are of views from the woods and towards the woods. No picnic tables or toilet facilities, but plenty of places to sit and have a picnic. Great views across Devon countryside.
Tracey P — Google review
We stayed in Seaton so we drove up to the picnic spot near the petrol station. 5 mins walk from the petrol station, across the field to the nature reserve. kids loved the walk around the nature reserve
David H — Google review
Lovely quiet woodland with two pathways each side of the river, giving the option of short, medium or long walks. My wife and I visited to see the bluebells and enjoyed the 'medium' walk.
Steve S — Google review
Be aware that there is no parking for the nature reserve - Google Maps will just take you to a random point on the road, so you have to park up by the garage. You then walk across the road, through a gate; and then down through a farmer’s field to get to the entrance. This might make accessibility difficult for some - when we went the field was extremely muddy, and it wasn’t great crossing the busy road with a dog. Having said that, the reserve was pleasant and the trails easy to follow - although they are not proper paths and also get very muddy after rain. I’m sure will be beautiful when the bluebells come out and on a nicer, drier summer evening

Sunshuliangzy — Google review
Very poorly marked, had to ask a couple of people at the petrol station how to get there, got 2 different answers. eventually found the gate. Had to walk through a field with lots of cows with a very nervous dog and young child. My dog was terrified as the cows were coming closer to take interest.Once in the woods they were beautiful and the bluebells magnificent. Would like to go again, but not sure about going through the field with cows. It would be good if the farmer could put a wire down one side to make a path that is safe for humans and animals .

Golf course
Golf at Seafield Gardens in Seaton offers a fun and entertaining experience for families and friends. The dinosaur-themed crazy golf course with 9 holes is a hit among children and adults, providing guides for easy or challenging shots. Located near the beach, the gardens also feature a small play park, tennis courts, and a pavilion offering refreshments. Visitors can also explore the nearby hot house showcasing tropical succulents, cacti, and coy carp.
Brilliant Jurassic themed putting golf in the heart of Seaton. Great for children - 9 holes in all - and you can stop by the pavilion afterwards for teas, coffee light bites and ice creams. Don't forget to visit the hot house right next door with its collection of tropical succulents, cacti and coy carp.
Alan M — Google review
A fabulous mini golf, fun in the sun, small yet perfect to share some laughs with you friends. Maybe a bit pricey, though not as busy as lyme Regis and the dinosaur theme adds some enjoyment. I won so I would say that !!

Checked online to see it says open, told kids we'd take them, turned up and no one is here, signs say to go to pavilion, no one anywhere! Wednesday 25/6/25 at 2:45. Very disappointing

Great crazy golf course, each hole has a guide for an easy or hard shot, great for kids and adults alike. Lovely spot in Seaton, near the play park and tennis courts too. Jurassic themed. Recommended. Toilets and ice creams available at the club house.

There's not an awful lot to do at Seaton once you've done the tram and jurassic museum. Lovely to come across crazy golf in the gardens. The children loved it. £2 per child excellent. £3.50 an adult ok but for a family of 7 wasn't cheap. Some families were going around twice. Make sure u don't putt your ball in hole 9 because it disappears! Family fun for all.

Seafield Gardens is a delightful park that offers various attractions for families. The children's play area and sensory area are particularly enjoyable for the little ones. The Jurassic crazy golf provides entertainment, although there were some issues with the ball getting stuck in the tunnel. One criticism is the distant location of the beach toilets, which can be inconvenient for young children who wait until the last minute. It's worth noting that most of the toilets were closed due to vandalism, except for the urinals.
A beautiful park, with it's view of the castle and bay, nice little café as well, also toilet on site

Nice park - more for under 12s and little ones. Crazy golf open only local school holidays, weekends and bank holidays with a dinosaur theme. Tennis courts and some exercise equipment.
Tony I — Google review
Enjoyed the children's play area and sensory area with the little ones. The Jurassic crazy golf was fun, but managed to get the ball stuck in the tunnel! Only criticism is that you have to take the children to the toilets by the beach, which is a long way for little one's who leave it to the last minute. Particularly as all the toilets were closed due to vandalism except for the urinals.

Nestled just a short stroll from the seafront, Cliff Field Gardens is a serene escape that beautifully combines nature and history. This picturesque garden features the impressive Seaton Labyrinth, which spans 60 feet in diameter and boasts 11 intricate circuits, created to honor the town's millennium celebration. As you wander through these immaculate gardens, you'll also encounter the Seaton Geological Timeline—a fascinating path that narrates Earth's story over billions of years, showcasing everything from its formation to human evolution.
Beautiful area of Seaton with fabulous views of the sea and surrounding countryside. Gardens are immaculate and there's plenty of benches and tables for a picnic. Dogs aren't allowed in the gardens. There's lots of interesting stuff to read as you walk around about the geology timeline. It's very tranquil.

For many years, my family has frequented Marine House at Beer while on our holiday visits to the area. We have always been drawn to their unique pottery, which serves as a wonderful reminder of our time here. What began as a few purchases quickly transformed into a remarkable collection. Julia, the dedicated manager, went above and beyond when we informed her about accidentally acquiring duplicate jugs. Thanks to her assistance, we now possess a complete set of these beautiful pieces.
Beautiful paintings. Rosemary couldn’t have been more positive, helpful and accommodating. A fantastic service. Thank you!

As a family, we've shopped here for years when we visit the area on holiday, picking up pieces of pottery to remind us of our stay. One or two pieces turned into a collection! Barrel of Beer is a traditional and friendly pub located in the charming fishing village of Beer. It's known for being a favorite among locals, offering excellent value for local real ale and wine. The cozy atmosphere with a lit fireplace makes it an inviting spot to relax and chat with the friendly bar staff and well-behaved dogs that frequent the place.
Nice traditional pub in the middle of Beer with a pool table, darts and a jukebox. A good selection of beers including Otter brewery bitter which was spot on. They don't do food but do sell excellent pork pies and other bar snacks. The barmaid was very friendly and efficient and the toilets were spotlessly clean. 10 / 10 👍🍺😋
Richard W — Google review
A perfect pub on the high street serving delicious freshly-caught fish of the day. With a choice of grilled or delicately battered, the pollock on offer today was top notch 👌 Highly recommended for local fish and a friendly atmosphere.
Bex B — Google review
We had the locally caught fish of the day, which was cod. We had the choice of battered and fried, or unbattered and grilled, so we had one of each, as i don't like too much batter, together with chips and peas. It was cooked to perfection and really nice. We shared a pint of Otter Ale, which went down well! The toilets were very clean. There was a lovely scrap book of Beer from the 1890s on the windowsill, which was interesting.
Christine G — Google review
This was my first visit to this lovely village, and after a good walk and explore I was ready for a little refreshment. This is a traditional pub which serves food as well. I didn't see anyone eating, but it was mid afternoon so not a surprise. A good range of local ales covering the primary staples of pale, bitter, and a strong ale. The ale was good, suggesting appropriate attention to cellar management. The staff were welcoming and helpful, looking after us wonderfully. The tables were set out in a spacious manner, meaning you don't feel hemmed in, and music was at an ambient volume encouraging social discourse. Being what I suspect is something of a tourist spot, they have put effort into branding, with t shirts which we obviously had to buy (good quality as well, which was comforting!) All in all, I was really happy here, and it will be top of my list for a repeat visit of I'm in the area again. On the important topic of the zombie apocalypse, I think this place could truly be a Winchester. While there are no visible firearms I could see, the smaller windows make for a very sensible location that could allow you to fortify a safe place to sit out the days to come, with the comfort of a stockpile of food and drink!
Barry B — Google review
Nice pub with friendly staff. Didn't eat but local beers on offer.
Philip H — Google review
This was one of the more lively pubs in Beer. Staff were super friendly and they even have a pub cat! Didn’t eat here but they had a good range of fish dishes which looked delicious.
V C — Google review
A lovely freehouse in a lovely village. Didn't lean into the 'barrel of beer' in beer vibe too much, and seems to have a great balance between food during the day (which we sadly missed) and a drinkers pub in the evening. We were made to feel very welcome despite being obvious tourists - and a great selection of beers were on tap. Thoroughly recommended!
Simon W — Google review
A proper pub! A great place to stop off for a quick pint or spend a whole afternoon. Next time we're down we'll definitely grab a bite to eat as well. Food looked very good and the range of drinks was comprehensive. Very friendly Staff and a great atmosphere

Fish and chips takeaway
Seaton's Fish Bar is a delightful seaside gem that truly captures the essence of traditional fish and chips. On a sunny Friday evening during the Easter holidays, despite some initial hesitation about queues, the experience proved to be rewarding. The haddock served here is exceptional—plenty of tender fish encased in a light batter that isn’t overly greasy. The chips complement perfectly with their crispy exterior and fluffy centers, making for an ideal pairing.
Incredible fish and chips, generous portions and the fish was sweet to taste and the batter not thick...which was great, just a little greasy. The chips were crispy and the centres were soft, The dog loved the Saveloy. Great value for money too. No cue this time but that was the day of the week as it was a Thursday., early season as well. The locals have a great tasty F&C with also a great menu covering all tastes and needs.

Had two haddock and one large chips. More than enough for two adults. The fish was firm and juicy and the batter really crispy - no soggy bottom. The chips were really nice colour and could definitely tell the oil was really fresh. We walked back to our hotel, food still piping hot when unwrapped. Would come back again if we are ever in the area.
Janet R — Google review
Great food, fantastic fish, chips were not greasy and well cooked. This cook knows how to look after his oil. No burnt oil smell or flavour. Best fish and chips I've had in a while. Friendly staff too. Well worth a visit.

With a bit of a queue-phobia, going to a seaside chippy on a sunny Friday evening in the Easter holidays could have been a nightmare but, it was all worth it as these fish and chips were superb. It also guaranteed that everything was piping hot; the haddock was superb, plenty of fish, not over-battered. Meanwhile the chips were neither over-cooked nor greasy. As 2 northerners we would have liked some mushy peas but, when it exotic lands...! A well-run, excellent fish and chip shop.

Fish and chips takeaway

If you're on the hunt for a delightful fish and chips experience, look no further than The Beer Fish & Chip Shop. This local gem serves up some of the best fish and chips you could hope for, with perfectly cooked haddock that’s fresh and flavorful without being greasy. Visitors rave about the generous portion sizes, making it ideal for sharing.
Had the haddock and chips takeaway offer for £11 whilst on holiday in the area. Felt that the fish and chips were very good and the portion size was great for me and my wife to share. Also ordered pineapple fritter, curry sauce and mushy peas. All good quality cooked fresh and served hot. The shop is cash only, and parking near the shop can be a little tricky, but overall a good experience.
Simon B — Google review
Cod and chips was ordered. It was definitely not cod. It was thin (not chunky and meaty) cooked to a crisp. The chips had an oily taste. So I portion of Cod? and chips, curry sauce and 2 very dry bread rolls was ordered £20.20 I am sorry to say the only positive I could fine was the portion size was fairly generous but unfortunately we couldn’t eat it all as it just wasn’t nice. (I hate wasting food). These days with the cost fish and chips it is a treat but I would have rather had beans on toast at home. Just one portion of cod and chips is £16.50 so therefore it should have been top notch.
Gillian O — Google review
Local chippy. You’re not sure if you’re gonna have food poisoning the day after and that’s exactly what you’re looking for. Cash only, around 15 minutes wait, greasy atmosphere, good fish, good chips, crispy, sticky… perfect.
David I — Google review
Quite possibly the best fish and chips we've had in years, from anywhere! Brilliant! Everything was perfectly cooked and flavoured and not greasy. From our family member who lives in Seaton, it seems to be in summer when the shop struggles, and possibly where the bad reviews are from. We visited in early April just before the local Easter holidays, and it was quick service but all freshly cooked - even though we were ordering lots of food for 6 people! Not taking card is the only bad thing. At almost £9 for a cod it is dearer than back home in Surrey by a few pound.
Alix — Google review
Chips were greasy and not very nice tasting. The fish was ok, nothing special but was unfortunately already a bit soggy by the time we'd reached the beach to eat them. Cash only, nearly made us not bother as we had to scrape it together between us and in this day and age we rarely carry that much cash. Will try others in the area from now on.
Dean S — Google review
Very expensive for a small fish scruffy staff not clean looking and very miserable. One female staff was coughing into her hygiene protection gloves not great. On the whole I won't be going back if you want decent fish and chips go to branscombe beach cafe.
Craig S — Google review
Staff were rude, felt watched all the time. Expensive for frozen brought items (fishcake etc) £11 for cod and the batter isn't even homemade there are tubs of it in prep area as which can be seen when you go to the toilets, cash only in 2025. Lady serving used gloved hands to take cash then used hand gel on gloves - this is a no-no as doesn't work to then serve food. Won't be using again
Emma O — Google review
Chips are good. Don’t debate that. But it’s 2025 and they are cash only. Not a good look. Also they charge you extra to sit in their empty seating area. For some reason you can wait there for your food, but heaven forbid you sit there after paying for your food.

The Wheelwright Inn is a charming and authentic pub with a thatched bar, offering a small lounge area and excellent freshly cooked food. The parking is limited but sufficient for about a dozen cars. Guests have praised the welcoming hosts, friendly service, and delicious roast beef. While the seating for dining is limited, the atmosphere is described as great with tasty food options.
Made a last minute decision to come here on the way back from our holiday and we're so glad we did. Lovely atmosphere as soon as you walk in, absolutely loved the interior along with the thatched roofed bar. Staff were friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. Plenty of options to choose from but we decided to go for the vegetarian roast and the chicken and wild mushroom tagliatelle. Will hopefully be coming back soon!

A lovely pub, with a nice atmosphere and great staff. We stopped off for an evening meal on the way back from the beach. Perfect for our family and dog friendly. The wife said it was the best salmon she has ever had. Thank you 😊.

Nice, delicious food. Very welcoming pub and very clean too. Prices slightly steeper than I thought but not too steep. Bought several drinks and had a main and dessert.

Only went to while away sone time. Got a round of drinks in, sat with the dog and chatted. The pub was full as it was lunch. Before we knew it another round beckoned. Barman was fantastic. Very attentive to everyone there, including our dog. Food smelt amazing and looked it too. Everyone had clear plates which is an excellent sign. Well worth a visit.

Went 2 weeks ago at lunchtime, don't know if they were short staffed but although it didn't seem that busy we waited the best part of an hour for our food. I had the worst tagliatelle I've ever tasted, overly creamy and filled with huge chunks of at least 2 types of meat. My wife and mother in law both had ploughman's, the portions were generous but the presentation was awful slabs of cheese and huge slices of ham. My father in law had the wheelwrights burger which he said was ok. Very overpriced for what we ate,or don't eat

We popped in as we passed by on a Sunday. Really friendy staff and customers. Both Sunday roasts were really tasty and great value for money. We will defiantly be popping in again.

Lovely country pub, very friendly land lord. He told us that a couple had complained about the ploughman’s recently… I can’t believe why as it’s the biggest slice of cheese and meat I’ve seen on a ploughman’s. Good stop for pub grub and try the local ciders

Really nice country pub in a picturesque setting.
