The Basilica of Saint Therese of Lisieux, a major Catholic pilgrimage site, was constructed from 1929 to 1951 and features an interior adorned with ornate mosaics and marble. The basilica is dedicated to Saint Therese of Lisieux and can accommodate up to 4,000 people. It is the second largest pilgrimage site in France, drawing over two million visitors annually. The church houses the relic of St.
Basilica was closed when we got there. We went too early. Check the schedule before going. We only saw the surroundings and not the inside. We couldn't stay longer due to our structured schedule. We were a big group of pilgrims and needed to keep our schedules. Hopefully, we can return in the future🙏. You can also visit the Chapel of St. Therese, which is a few miles away from the Basilica.

Awesome 🤩. For the Catholic pilgrim, not to be missed. How a young girl’s dream of making heaven on earth has paved the way for this grand basilica that is a small testament to all the good St Therese of Lusieux has inspired in so many.

Amazing architecture and fantastic stained glass windows. Well worth the time spent visiting. Next time we will attempt the steps to the first and second tiers.

Beautiful church with fantastic history. Amazing mosaics. Very spiritual. The stair trip is well worth paying €3 for. Therese Martin's family story is very stirring. Really enjoyed our visit

Absolutely beautiful inside, and the chapel on the lower floor has a fantastic mosaic ceiling.

I was over the moon to have stumbled across this magnificent Basilica . In my ignorance I had never heard of Saint Therese of Lisieux , I certainly have now . What a glorious memorial to her this glorious building is . I could have spent days here and loved every minute of it . Bravo to the designers and builders . The locals must be very proud of Saint Therese herself and their memorial to her . I am so grateful to have been given the chance to visit . Merci Beaucoup .

Lisieux Cathedral, located in the historic town of Lisieux in Normandy, is a significant religious site dedicated to St. Therese, a revered figure in the town's history. The cathedral was constructed over 60 years and stands as a blend of Norman Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles. Despite being less famous than some other cathedrals, it remains an impressive and solemn place to visit.
Being a complete Cathedral/Church fanatic, I was more than pleased to get the opportunity to visit this amazing place . Lisieux is an amazing commune In Normandy and seems a wonderful place to live . The Cathedrale Saint Pierre de Lisieux just one of its attractions . I spent about an hour and a half in here and loved it very peaceful . I lit a candle, said a prayer for mum, and dad and admired the wonderful architecture . I particularly loved the alter with an illuminated Christ underneath it guarded by two angels I believe . It stands in a rather attractive market square . Well worth visiting in my humble opinion . Oh I loved the crucifix too .
Heimdal O — Google review
Lovely old cathedral with marvelous stained glass. A floorplan inside nicely shows the age of various parts of the structure. Lovely garden just east of it too. Park a few blocks away because this is a big square in front & narrow streets all around.

A beautiful spiritual place where one can restore their soul. Nice little chapel with small free museum on the life of Saint Therese as a Carmelite. Very nice bookstore/gift shop next door.

We had some very good pizza here on a Saturday evening - I particularly enjoyed the Parmentiere. Desserts were lavish and beautifully presented. The service was prompt and charming despite it being very, very busy - testament to the quality of the food. Very good atmosphere, and also a shout-out to the Kir Normand, which was new to me but will be recreated at home!

I really don’t know how this place had a 4.5 in reviews. I tried different plates not to base my review in just one things but: - Pasta: overcooked, tasteless, lacked flavour and character -Burger: the bread was hard like it was done for 3 days -Pizza: Tasted like bending machine pizza. Frozen pizzas are better Couldn’t finish my plate. It was overpriced. I just write reviews when I am really disappointed.

I ordered some times to take away, we were served quite quickly and the pizzas were really tasty. One time I came to eat in the restaurant, it was full, we were glad we had a reservation ! The decoration is good end the menue is varied (from a salad to pastas, burgers and pizzas). The food was really good and the waiters/waitresses were efficient and welcoming. The only thing I would have to say is that the tables downstairs are quite close to each other. If you want good a take away pizza or a nice italian restaurant it is a great place!

Nestled in a charming setting, this family-run Algerian restaurant boasts an inviting oriental atmosphere that's perfect for enjoying generous portions of delicious food. Guests rave about the tender and flavorful couscous, complemented by friendly service that makes you feel right at home. The beautifully designed interior adds to the overall ambiance, making it a great spot to relax and savor every bite.
Incredible food here!! I came here with my boyfriend and his grandmother and it was so delicious - vegetable stew, meats, kir, wine. The building is atmospheric on the inside with Eastern style decor and the food was truly amazing. If I'm ever in Lisieux again I'll definitely be coming back! The lamb was fantastic

Creperie
French restaurant
La Chandeleur is a charming little creperie located in the heart of Lisieux, known for its delightful atmosphere and friendly service. The new owners have brought a fresh vibe to this cozy spot, where guests can indulge in an array of delicious crepes and galettes that evoke the flavors of Brittany. Visitors rave about the generous portions and unique combinations, such as the Creole sweet crepe featuring pineapple and banana.
I went to "La Chandeleur" last year with my family. We chose this restaurant because of it's really good location and because of it's menu. They had no big tables so maybe they can change that but the waiters found a solution to prepare a table for us. The dishes were really good, it reminded of me Brittany. The main dishes were big portions so we couldn't eat something else. But we wanted to taste the desserts. So we shared the desserts all together. It was the first restaurant I've tried in Lisieux and it was a really good one. I recommend it !
Inès R — Google review
The sweet crepes that we had were fantastic. The Creole one had a very good combination of tastes: sweet with a little of citrus from the pineapple and moisture from the banana.

Château de Saint-Germain-de-Livet is a charming moated castle with a small park and three peacocks. Guided tours are available in French and English every hour, offering visitors an insightful one-hour experience. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed inside the castle or the park. While the interior of the building is undergoing renovation and not accessible, visitors can explore the garden and inner courtyard for free.
This is just such a beautiful chateau - has to be seen. Not grand - and we only walked round the outside (the inside was closed to visitors) but it was well worth the drive from Trouville. A baking hot day when we visited so the cool of the neighbouring tea rooms was most welcome as were the refreshing pots of specialist teas. A delightful place to spend a couple of hours if you are in the area. Check opening times (closes at lunchtime) - parking opposite is free.
Huw S — Google review
Beautiful castle and its surroundings,no charge to enter the garden and inner courtyard as the interior of the building is still under renovation. There are several free guided 20min tours (in french or english should there be enough foreigners) during which you enter into the inner courtyard. Cool to spend an hour admiring the area, there is a nice tea salon overlooking the castle but it was closed when we were there a week ago.

Magnificent little castle with a nice a garden. The interior is currently closed (summer 22) for renovations but the gardens and outside facades are still worth the visit. Guided tours are available free of charge every hour, a great way to learn more with a professional historian!
Alexander M — Google review
What a gorgeous and peaceful place to visit. The front clerk was very helpful and spoke English while helping with our bad French. Easy parking right across the street and an easy path around the outside grounds of the site. If walking to the side, there is a bubbling stream and was so serene. Visited in April and everything smelled so fresh. Ducks were swimming in the moat and the peacocks were making their calls. The inside was still under renovation, but it was free to view the garden and take your time. There is small church across the street to explore and old cemetery. I strongly recommend to visit if you're looking for some peace and nature.

Goutu is a rare find in Lisieux, offering a limited number of options for homemade and delectable cuisine. Their menu is a fusion of local Normandy dishes and exotic flavors from La Reunion Island. While the waitress lacks enthusiasm and is inflexible when it comes to alterations, the food itself is reasonably priced and mouthwatering, especially their daily specials. Convenient parking nearby adds to the appeal of this hidden gem in Liseaux.

There are not so many places in Lisieux where you can eat homemade tasty food, this is one of them. Mix of local and exotic dishes (Normandy & La Reunion island), swift service. The waitress doesn’t smile so much and is very rigid about changing anything on the menu but the food is delicious for a reasonable price for the daily menu. Easy to park nearby.

Horrible confrontational staff and I think they managed / owned the place !! Absolutely unacceptable behavior ! When told that the drinks which they gave us were too strong and if we could get them diluted - we were told that this is just how the drinks are made and that we didn’t really know what we are talking about . We just wanted the drinks diluted, which we didn’t think was too much too ask. The woman got all wound up and acted like she would even beat us up if she could ! I’ve never been ver experienced this anywhere in my life ! The husband of the woman that served us also joined the discussion and it became a huge scene ! We decided to leave and paid for the drinks which we didn’t pay. Pls pls pls avoid this restaurant at all cost!

The rooms were lovely, the breakfast knocked my socks off, the boiled egg station I think was a bit below boiling(keep your eggs in for a few extra minutes. The cakes were awesome. Really nice spot for an overnight. The town's basilica is absolutely fascinating. Probably more so for a heathen like myself than a Catholic.

Nice choice for a quick visit to Lisieux Nice reception staff (morning shift) Hotel is decent, just what you need for a quick stay I had an issue with the restaurant in the evening. The manager promised me to sort it out and get back to me with a suitable return. Good luck for the new management team. Worthy quality/ price ratio.

Le Cappadoce is a delightful culinary gem that promises an exceptional dining experience. Guests rave about the friendly and attentive staff, who create a welcoming atmosphere in this impeccably clean restaurant. The menu features an array of delicious dishes, with non-greasy meats expertly seasoned to perfection. Diners have particularly enjoyed the crispy kebabs served hot alongside fresh vegetables and perfectly cooked fries.
I'm not quite sure about the atmosphere, but! The food was very nice. It was hot, the kebab was crispy, warm and tasty. The vegetables looked fresh and were delicious. The fries that were included with the kebab were crispy and hot and tasted good. The person that helped us was very friendly and kindly explained all the options to us. Definitely would recommend.

(Translated by Google) Attracted by the Google note, I said to myself: let's go for it, it must be a good address! Well, what a slap in the face…but not in a good way. Frozen fries worthy of a low-end canteen, flavorless meat, and an establishment that oscillates between shambles and unsanitary. Attention to detail? Non-existent. As for the boss, he seemed to be in full existential meditation... or perhaps just at the bottom of the hole, judging by the whiskey he poured himself in the middle of service (and it certainly wasn't his first of the day). In short, a perfect place… if you want to test your tolerance threshold for mediocrity (Original) Attiré par la note Google, je me suis dit : allons-y, ça doit être une bonne adresse !

(Translated by Google) I'll let you judge for yourself. The fries seem to suck. All wrinkled, we'd say they've been there since this morning. No taste. No, you're overdoing it. You even missed the fries. Never again, I strongly advise against it. 8€ for that. The meat doesn't taste like fries. Respected at least the food. -1000/20. Worst kebab in a long time. -1000/20. Pire kebab depuis longtemps.

(Translated by Google) A very kind gentleman took our order, but we didn't like what we ate. Not because of any particular problem; I think it was just a matter of taste. I think there was a spice in the meat. Thank you anyway for the very friendly welcome. This was our first time in Lisieux.

Nestled in the heart of Lisieux, the Brit Hotel Privilège Lisieux - Villa des Arts is a captivating destination where art and gastronomy intertwine beautifully. This unique establishment boasts an elegant ambiance that stimulates all your senses, from its stunning decor to the soothing music that enhances your experience. Guests rave about the bistronomic cuisine served at their on-site restaurant, featuring delightful dishes like perfectly crafted deviled eggs and exquisitely seasoned beef tartare.
The restaurant is under new management having been purchased by the Brit Hotel group. We live around the corner so we've not stayed at the hotel. However, we've had lunch there several times since the new opening and enjoyed it very much. The decor is much improved, tablecloths and real napkins, a very congenial staff, good food at medium range prices. Highly recommend... it's right in the heart of downtown Lisieux !!

Did not stay at the hotel but had a lovely dinner at the restaurant. We ordered the duck breast, pork tenderloin and grilled beef flank steak. All were delicious but the duck was the star! Good friendly service also.

Very slow service, tasteless and cold food In response to owner's comment. I did visit your mediocre restaurant during trip to France. It was weekend, and your business was one of few opened and nearby so I did mistake and ordered food. I do not know what your staff is straggling about, but the service and quality of food were absolutely unacceptable, given the fact that French cuisine is world-famous. On top of the above mentioned prices were comparable to superb Paris restaurants. So all and all, the food was bad, boys were snail-slow, and the prices were sky high. Hence one star in review, unfortunately there are no minus stars, I would gladly rate your hole as minus two stars. The picture is to prove that I was in Lisieux.

The food was delicious! The male who was serving us was really nice, but the lady could not be bothered..i found her rude. But atmosphere was cozy and nice.

At first, Villa des Arts seemed wonderful — elegant, friendly, and well-run. My wife and daughter enjoyed their stay on August 14–15, and we even rated it “excellent.” Unfortunately, that impression didn’t last. We paid 242 euros in cash at checkout, only to find that the same amount was charged again to our credit card. Despite numerous calls and emails, the issue has never been resolved. The hotel initially admitted their error and even sent us a “proof of refund” that turned out to be worthless. After that, silence. What began as a charming stay turned into weeks of frustration and complete indifference from management. A place that prides itself on “art” should perhaps learn a little about honesty and accountability first. Travelers — keep your receipts and your guard up.
