Outdoor Activities
Playa de Rodiles is a spacious and beautiful beach with a long and wide stretch of sand, making it an ideal destination for families and those seeking a relaxing day by the sea. The surrounding woods offer a tranquil retreat for those in search of shade and serenity. While the beach does not offer rental loungers or umbrellas, visitors can enjoy amenities such as restaurants, cafes, toilets, showers, and free parking. Additionally, the scenic drive to the beach adds to the overall experience.
Children loved this place! What a great family time we have had here today. The waves were sometimes large, sometimes small, the water was 20 degrees. A parking nearby. Free toilet available, but the shower is not enough to wash the feet.

This is a really nice beach. It's long, it's wide. There's plenty of space and only few international visitors. It's fun place, a safe place with lots of families. The beach itself is very nice, but also the woods backing the beach is a nice area for people who prefers some cool shade and some quiet. There is plenty of free parking all along the way, but keep in mind that in high season they still fill up fast! There's a bunch of restaurants to fill your hungry stomach. Also bathroom / shower facilities. And then the part we liked best: A nice boardwalk all along the beach. It goes on for miles. Dogs are also allowed on there. Perfect for folks who need some walks like us. Loved it.
Alex H — Google review
Wonderful beach! Very big; not crowded at all; beautiful scenery and surroundings; free and abundant parking, as well as many amenities including bathrooms; a first aid centre; an ice cream/cold drink stand; and a restaurant/cafe. The drive down to the beach it's also lovely and scenic.
Chiara — Google review
Lovely beach with trees around for picnicking areas. Bit out of the way place with 2 restaurants and a surf bar. Pity the red flag was flying so no swimming as it was very windy.
ROBIN S — Google review
Either you like surfing or just chilling on the beach this is your place. For surfing a bit tough, quite heavy localism if you are looking for the "left", if you go to any other spot no problem. Wild and stunning views.
Rutas A — Google review
A perfect wide beach with a beautiful rest area among eucalyptus trees. There are bathrooms and showers. It’s very popular in high season so the ample parking is usually all occupied but if you wait around a bit, a spot will free up.

🏄‍♂️ Surf Paradise for Everyone Playa de Rodiles has something for everyone – whether you're chasing waves, spending the day with family, or just relaxing under the trees. ✅ Consistent surf for all levels 🌳 Shady eucalyptus trees with an amazing scent 🧺 Family-friendly beach with space to relax 🪢 Great hammock spots with sea views ☕ Bring your own cold/hot drink for a chill session 🚐 Free parking for campervans and cars 🚻 Public toilets and showers 🏄‍♀️ Surf gear rentals and good restaurant nearby Follow me on Google Maps for free tips, hidden gems, and surf spots around the world 🌎 @Amagi.zi

Sidra El Gaitero offers an enjoyable tour with friendly staff who are willing to accommodate English-speaking visitors. The entrance ticket can be exchanged for items in the shop at the end of the tour, making it a highly recommended visit. The factory and exhibition showcase advertising, machinery, historical barrels, and more. It's advisable to book in advance via email and note that the experience may not be very interactive for young children.
A wonderful tour (in Spanish) of the plant. They've been around since 1890... So they know a thing or two. (Tour takes about an hour and a half...) Very well done, good job tour guides!

Went to Sidra El Gaitero for a guided tour which you have to book in advance. Afternoon tour was 17.00 till 18.30, cost 5 euroes, at the end, on your receipt you were given a credit to spend on free bottles of cider. You can buy everything from champagne, bottles of cider and apple juice from the souvenir shop.
ROBIN S — Google review
Wonderful tour in spanish. The guide Eva was super well prepared and you get a full understanding of cider process making. Super nice the fact that you can exchange the 5€ entrance for products. More over the products aren't so expensive. I recommend to book. I would have liked to try more products but they let you try only the standard cider (it's a try, not a tasting).

Be careful not to get into or let the children get into any place where there is grass because you will go home with a gift in your shoe. The swings are, to say the least, bizarre, especially the supposed slide on which my daughter has already gotten two bruises between her legs. About the pond: well, I think it doesn't have any type of filtration, so in a matter of a couple of days it is completely dirty.

We visited Café Bar Restaurante Entrepeñas during our trip to Rodiles beach and were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious, with a wide selection of bocadillos and refreshing beers. The restaurant provided convenient parking for overnight stays, even during the off-season. While some staff members may not have been overly friendly, the overall experience was positive. We sat down at a table and were quite quick, from the other side of the terrace, 'attended' with "do you have a reservation"? No, we didn't, and had to read from his face that this was not appreciated. We were told to take a seat at another table and that we would have to wait a bit, "of course, no problem". We never saw his face again. After 15 minutes a very kind waitress came with a thousand apologies, sorry for waiting so long and everything else (everything else?), super sympathetic, an angel. We ordered a Fanta, portion de croquettes and a portion gambas a la plancha. Drink was served pretty much immediately and the croquettes 10 minutes. After having enjoyed them, they were delicious, came the gambas, perfectly timed. Half of the gambas were as delicious as de croquettes, but the second half most of them were raw and left on the plate. Our adorable waitress apologised, clearly embarrassed, "don't worry, not your responsibility". She said her superior would take care of the bill. You would think that a disappointment like this is handled with care, but we had to wait another 20 minutes for the superior with a simple "sorry" and a poor discount of only 4 euro . You lost a customer, ordering not even my morning coffees there anymore. After an experience like we had today you're simply not costly, but too expensive.

(Translated by Google) The price per person, for regular portions, averages €25/€30. On this first visit, I didn't want to eat anything too heavy, so I can only praise the mixed salad and the squid afuegaos. Spectacular. The service was also great. I stopped by without a reservation to ask if I could sit down for lunch, and even though I had to leave before the 3 p.m. appointment, I enjoyed it like a champion. Very friendly, attentive, and the food was delicious, with competitive prices for a restaurant in a beach area.

The purity of the environment, the gurgling of the waterfalls and the greenery in its different shades envelop you in a hug of true peace. We left there refreshed, although we were not able to do the complete route because we were with a 5-year-old child. Even so, it has been wonderful to immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of this route. The spring and sunny day with 18 degrees has been very good. Keep in mind that after rainy days there can be a lot of mud. Today there was something but it was passable. I recommend 100%. (Translated by Google) San Juan de Amandi (San Xuan d'Amandi), in the town of Amandi, in the Asturian council of Villaviciosa, from the first third of the 13th century, is considered one of the most notable examples of Asturian Romanesque, both for its architectural treatment and for its impressive sculptural decoration. It has a rectangular floor plan, a single nave, a semicircular apse and a sacristy attached to the south side, arranged around a large portico from the 17th century. The Church of San Juan de Amandi has its origins in the pre-Romanesque period, according to documentary evidence, but stylistically it corresponds to the baroque phase of the Asturian Romanesque, with elements of a Gothic character. It has a single nave plan with a semicircular head. Two compartments and a semicircular portico on Tuscan columns that surround the church have been added to the north and south sides; Above this 17th century porch is a baroque belfry with two openings, from the 18th century. Walking through the building externally, there are two access portals: one on the front, richly decorated, with a pointed arch and strongly flared, and another on the south side, with a semicircular arch and simpler decoration. The body of the nave is finished with corbels. The semicircular apse is decorated with four columns that are finished with capitals; A checkered fascia runs horizontally across the apse. Inside, the chancel is separated from the nave by a semicircular triumphal arch supported by columns and decorated capitals. The apse is divided into two sections, separated by another semicircular sawtooth arch. The most significant thing is the double arch that adorns the entire head.

In reduced condition, although its proportions and design do not detract from its attributes, both on the outside and on the inside. Today I haven't had the chance to see it inside, but I remember its beauty and charm. Protagonist of the social and artistic life of Villaviciosa since 1945, the theater, promoted by Laureano Riera, its builder and owner, was designed by the architect Fernando Cavanilles. A work of magnitude, the theater-cinema represented a novelty due to its size, architecture, large capacity and intense activity that survives, now as a municipal theater, to this day. On November 15, 1945, it was inaugurated by the José Alba theater company, which would be followed a few days later by its premiere as the Cinema Palace with the screening of The Tragedy of the Bounty (Frank Lloyd, Munity on the Bounty, 1935). ; with Charles Laughton and Clark Gable). In the central years of the 20th century, the theater reached great splendor, highlighting the work of Cándido Cambiella, linked to the Riera Theater from a very young age, first as a designer of its spectacular posters, then a designer, publicist and, ultimately, a great creator of its maintenance until its closure in 2002, when the change of ownership began until its reopening as a municipal theater in 2008. The Riera continues to be a reference venue for the cultural life of Villaviciosa, with an average of fifteen thousand spectators, combining cinema, theatre, concerts and institutional events, with more than a hundred activities a year, and a diverse program to which the rich associative fabric represented by the different local cultural groups and associations. (Translated by Google) Villaviciosa Water Street. As it is well named, the Hevia were one of the most prestigious families in Villaviciosa. Perres, properties and prestige gave luster to this surname. The original house dates back to the 16th century, square floor plan, three storeys, central with a very handsome corridor, it maintains few original elements of the previous one, an interior stone staircase and a walnut partition on the top floor. It was completely renovated in the 19th century and then rehabilitated a few decades ago. Apart from the obvious, it is famous for the stay, four days of a young prince of Ghent (not even a Castilian pope), the route marked the destination of the port of Santander but things from the sea arrived on September 19, 1517 on the coast of Villaviciosa. They disembarked in Tazones and he was entertained in this house, logically, the best in the town, resting the rapacious and eventful trip. Afterwards, he headed towards Castile where things in life were concerned and with courage he claimed the inheritance of the Güelos, he arrived in Valladolid on November 18 with a premium entourage, with luck in his face he was able to propose and convince the Castilian nobility to unite kingdoms and become Charles I "the Caesar". Currently it is a multipurpose center of the town hall, serving residents and visitors. It is very worth passing through.

Ballina Park is a charming and small park located in the heart of the town. It features a 1928 design filled with palm trees, making it an ideal spot for leisurely walks and photo opportunities. The park also houses the Exaltation of the Apple monument, created by Spanish sculptor Eduardo Urculo as a tribute to cider. Visitors can enjoy sitting and chatting while observing children playing and birds flying around, making it a lovely place to spend some time outdoors.

It is for little children and older ones. A place that looks super clean, pleasant, full of vitality. Ideal to spend the afternoons. There were a lot of people after 4pm. I didn't see any picnic areas. You can go with dogs, or so I assume, because there were people walking around. I don't know if there are toilets or not. A place for the whole family. ☺️ (Original) 🪄Me ha encantado! Es un parque super genial! Lo recomiendo al mil! What a delightful discovery Casa Mery turned out to be! After a long day of exploring, I found myself captivated by the lively ambiance that filled the air. Although it was bustling inside, I managed to snag a cozy table under the outdoor cover. The food was nothing short of spectacular; I savored grilled sepia and mussels as starters, followed by an exquisite beef main course. Each bite was bursting with flavor!
The food was simply amazing. We tried the grilled sepia and the muscles for starters and beef for main. Everything was really tasty!! Recommend 100%

The best restaurant in town. I had lunch here and came back for dinner. Great food and atmosphere.
Robert O — Google review
The service was good and fast. Only comment based on my experience: We ordered two menu de día for €11 each which is super cheap. For the 1st course, fabadas was salty and the rice I wouldn’t pay for €1, for the second ones ribs were so dry and Plato de abuela was not good neither. For dessert we ordered two cheese cakes which were bad. It’s the first time we experienced this when everything we ordered didn’t taste good. For €11 we should have expected anything but the other dishes looked not too bad apart from menu de día which we didn’t try.

(Translated by Google) We went to eat on the recommendation of people from Villaviciosa, what can I say, the praise falls short, to start we ordered 2 menus of the day and a matured beef entrecôte. The first dish on the menu, potes (I think it was called) was capable of leaving you with your mouth open, it was incredible and not to mention the amount they gave you, spectacular. To continue the second menu we ordered bonito and roast beef, the beef melted in the mouth and had a flavor that left you longing for more, not to mention the bonito, which is brought to you done and prepared to bite your teeth. And lastly for the main dishes we have the entrecôte, in my opinion the best I have ever tried, they bring it to the point you like and in my case, which was sealed, it had a spectacular flavor, one of those that you remember and drool over. . And the jewel in the crown, the homemade nougat cake, with pieces of nougat for more flavor, creamy and wonderful texture. Of the staff, what to say, we had Dani, very close and attentive to everything, he didn't miss a thing. In conclusion, we feel at home, and we are looking forward to returning.

Even the bread was finished! The chocolate dessert was also incredibly tasty. We appreciated the attentive service provided by the staff.
In the middle of the mountain, with a great sense of peace you get to ear the just picked tomatoes that are just amazing. The fabada was one of the best we’ve ever tried and the arroz con leche OH MY GOD! Do not leave this place without trying the arroz con leche!!! You definitely need to make reservations since its such a small place but definitely worth the time getting there from Villaviciosa!

Really traditional, and each time harder to find, “chigre”. Homemade food, everything perfectly cook. We tried squids and onions stew (excellent and quite different), cecina 🙏🏻, and lamb stew which is in a league of his own. Very friendly people too. I’d be coming back for sure

(Translated by Google) Arriving and seeing a table occupied already scared us. The ventrisca salad consisted of tomato slices made of tissue paper, as seen in the photo, and the ventrisca was crumbled. €12 The croquettes are visible on the plate (we took close-ups to make it look like there was something there, because you could see more of the plate than anything else). The size was bite-sized, 8 croquettes. €12 The cheek pouches were exactly as shown in the photo. €12 The main course was €24 and a half portion of oxtail, which you can see the side dish like a magnifying glass. There was no wine. Chlorinated water, 2 soft drinks, 1 bottle of cider. A portion of bread to keep our stomachs happy was almost €6. And to top it all off, they charged us for two portions of oxtail when they said one and a half. It was 7 pieces of oxtail, with such an abundance of garnish that we were shocked... because it didn't even reach half a potato. 4 desserts and a bill of €121... We were amazed. The desserts were €6, when We're at the end of the earth, and those desserts are €4. We're not in the center of Oviedo or Gijón. A set of dishes with each dish from a different family. The best thing was the staff, who was very friendly. The owner didn't say good afternoon when we walked in; she oozed politeness from every pore. Bye, bye... Bye, bye …

The fabada (bean stew) was simply delicious, with that homemade, authentic flavor that can only be achieved with patience and a good hand in the kitchen. The cider, served with care, was the perfect accompaniment. We also tried the salad, cachopo (a type of cachopo), and anchovies, all prepared with great care. The service was another strong point: the owner welcomed us with special kindness, making us feel at home, and the rest of the staff was equally attentive and cordial throughout the meal. A place that combines good food, friendly service, and the charm of small-town life. Definitely a place to return to and recommend.

(Translated by Google) A typical village tavern, home-cooked food and quick service. Don't expect anything fancy, but there is a varied menu. The desserts seemed a bit fair for the price... very tasty, but size S. The rice with Caleya pitu, which is famous there, was very good (a bit hard for my taste). The other dishes, of course!
