Plage de Paulilles is a hidden gem nestled between rocky headlands, offering a serene escape for beach lovers and nature enthusiasts alike. This picturesque spot is not only known for its tranquil waters but also for the intriguing remnants of a former dynamite factory nearby, which houses a small industrial museum. The coastal path that begins in Banyuls sur Mer leads adventurers north towards Cap Bear or south to Cerbere, providing breathtaking views and access to secluded coves perfect for swimming.
Lovely beach, opens at 9am and closes at 8pm in the summer. Really quiet early in the morning, gets quite busy in the day as more and more families arrive. Super clear water and feels warm in the summer (compared to the UK!). Cafes are nice and staff are friendly. We did a great walk early on before it got too hot across Barnardi beach and to the light house at Cap Bear. Walked along the cliff path on the way there, which was steep and tricky in places and discovered a much easier path on the way home, slightly inland. We had a really lovely day and would definitely go back.

I think we ended up at Plage du Bernardi, but I reckons it all "the same area." A lot of snorkelling options. I however had a SUP and went between the two swim spots. Lovely beach!
Darrel H — Google review
Beautiful Mediterranean coast not far from Perpignan. Definitely worth visiting. Rich cultural and artistic heritage. Good dining options.

Lovely little beach protected by the surrounding cliffs.

Accessibility is well-managed, with a large parking lot at the top of the hill (arrive early in peak season to secure a spot or you will have to spent a couple of minutes looking for a spot) and a scenic 10-minute walk down to the shore . The beach is family-friendly, with amenities like restrooms, showers. It gets busy during summer afternoons, mornings offer a peaceful atmosphere.
J.Manuel C — Google review
It is a wonderful place to spend the day at the beach ⛱️I love the tranquil and pristine water. There is a free parking lot just 10 minutes away from the beach, and the view from the top of the hill is absolutely magnificent ⛰️If you enjoy capturing beautiful photos, I highly recommend visiting 🙋🏻‍♂️
Mhamad — Google review
A beautiful place to enjoy the beach and learn a bit about local dynamite history! The museum was closed and you aren't allowed to sunbathe or picnic right now due to Covid-19, but it's still a beautiful beach for a quick dip and a beautiful walk in the gardens.

Great beach (pebbles) for snorkling and stand up paddling. Watershoes are a must because of the rocks and sea urchins. Great parking place with a nice walking route. to be able to park you have to arrive early.

Phare du Cap Béar is a lighthouse located just east of Port-Vendres, offering stunning views along the coastline. The area also features the Dynamiterie de Paulilles, a former dynamite factory owned by Alfred Nobel. Visitors can explore several footpaths leading to nearby attractions such as Port Vendres and Banyuls sur Mer. The route is ideal for walking, with the option to drive from Port Vendres, although it's not recommended during summer due to narrow roads.
Nice sensations! Road is very narrow and no protection at all, my wife almost had a heart attack! :-) We had to continue walking. View ia incredibly nice, but be carefull with the sun, it can be difficult at noon with 35 degrees if you are not covered properly. Not to be missed if you are in the area.
George M — Google review
The phares are always very nice to see. You can imagine how ships depend of them, mostly of set of some phares. Nowadays no human is needed to take care of phases, mostly. Fresnel lenses are still the most effective way to concentrate the light beams in parallel to travel a long way to the ships, turning over the light source and making a certain pattern, marked on maps to be identified for the orientation to get to a harbour. But it's very beautiful to watch them by walking by, hiking with friends or alone.
Riho ( — Google review
A good walk from Ports Vendres to the lighthouse along a coastal path or on a road that follows the path to the lighthouse great views of the Pyrenees mountains and the Mediterranean sea very picturesque not too difficult just a good pair of walking shoes I wouldn't recommend for people with reduced mobility and sometimes the signage isn't very clear
Craig T — Google review
Easy trail. The first 500m are the hardest but once you make it past there is no challenge. Can be done by young kids who practiced (assuming they are not wearing flip flops!)
Martin R — Google review
Really amazing views and great hike. But this region is known for its gale force winds and we got caught in them. It will knock you off your feet, literally. So check the weather forecast and come prepared anyway. Also there are lovely little crooks around the mountain you can go for a chilly swim.
Daniel — Google review
Amazing view along the coastline in both directions particularly when the weather is clear, as it was today. Worth a visit just for the views. Several footpaths lead along the coast from here to other pleasant places to visit such as Port Vendres, Banyuls sur Mer and Pauliles. It is possible to drive much of the route from Port Vendres if you can't be bothered walking but I would not recommend driving in summer as the road is narrow, with very few places suitable to pass. Interesting to read later this evening that the many scattered building remains past the old lighthouse were built by the Germans after they invaded to prevent counter attack by the Allies. These building remnants are probably not easily accessible to those with mobility issues and if you have children or a pet they need to be closely supervised due to areas of loose ground and also the cliff edges.
A ( — Google review
One of the most beautiful hiking in the region. Next to Collioure and Port-Vendre. Cap Beart is wonderful in springtime and autumn to avoid burning sun.

The taste was less than expected. Shrimps were served without cleaning its waste! it had a rich taste and smell. Zucchini didn't have any sauces beside it. No plates policy which was wired for me to eat from the main dish and throw the shrimp Skelton in the same dish!

Really wonderful lunch in Chez Pujol today. Great menu - all 3 of us had different things. It was all delicious but the star of the show were the strawberries which had been lightly pickled with rose peppercorns. Delicious. Great wine recommendation too and nice friendly service in spite of our poor French. Thank you. Recommend. We will return.

Nestled to the west of the harbor, the Obélisque de Port-Vendres stands tall at 30 meters, a stunning marble structure that dates back to 1780. This historic monument was erected during King Louis XVI's reign to commemorate France's role in the American War of Independence. The area surrounding the obelisk is vibrant and lively, especially on Saturdays when it transforms into a bustling market hub.

Nestled atop a hill overlooking the picturesque village of Collioure, Fort Saint Elme is a remarkable star-shaped fortress that dates back to 1552. Originally constructed under the reign of Charles V, this military stronghold was designed to protect against potential invaders and boasts impressive eight-meter-thick walls. Although currently closed to visitors, its commanding presence can be admired from afar as it towers over the pebbled beaches below.
Tricky ride up to the fort but once there breathtaking b Views across the bay. Entrrence to the castle was £8 per adult an well worth the visit. An excellent example of a fort built in the age of gunpowder
Anthony ( — Google review
Fort Saint Elme is currently closed (nil signage as to why at the location), however the surrounding views are beautiful and the walk is gorgeous. Recommend walking up and back if you’re in Collioure, rather than driving.
Duncan P — Google review
Really interesting visit and great value. Lots of local history. There’s a combination ticket with the local Petit Train from Collioure which gives a local guided tour. Follow the visit with a hike back into town through vineyards with spectacular views.
Chris B — Google review
it is advisable to either take the petite train to the top of the fort, it's a spectacular view around the coast, and the winding roads snaking up to the mountain a wonder. I would then advise to take time to walk around the fort as the train only stops for a few minutes before returning. you can then walk down if it's not too hot to enjoy the smell and scenery of the vineyards. It is about an hour back down towards Coullier, otherwise wait for the next train which will be about the same time.
RJ C — Google review
Great views of the town below and surrounding countryside, a bit expensive I thought and the access road is very narrow, so take your time if you go.

Sole Mio Restaurant in Port-Vendres offers a unique dining experience that captures the essence of Mediterranean cuisine. While some dishes may not fully embody their intended cultural roots, the atmosphere is lively and inviting, especially on weekends when a DJ spins vinyl electronic music. Guests appreciate the friendly staff and decent food options, although arriving early is recommended to enjoy a wider selection.
Great food, great serving and great terrace! Fresh fish and nice french cuisine.
Ioana U — Google review
We went with a group of friends and everything was quite nice. We parked at site de Paulille because near to the restaurant the parking lots are not sufficient and all booked. During the weekend they have a DJ who plays on vinyl electronic music. The food is good but you need to come early to have more choices. "Cote du beauf" was tasty, same like all the rest what we shared, prices a bit strange but I think this is everywhere same like the attitude of the staff. The owner is very kind and nice, and I still don't understand why the regular staff is so disrespectful.
Victoria P — Google review
Food is ok. Service was fast at the beginning but once we had our food they completely forgot about us. We tried to ask for a second glass of wine a few times but we kept being told "I'll be with you in a second" (the restaurant was half full, other people were being served). After 35 minutes waiting, we left with no wine and no dessert
Zulema C — Google review
Went for Sunday lunch so perhaps busier than usual. Slow but friendly service. Ordered starters and mains. Kids ordered full size pasta dishes and we had fish stew for two. Fish was amazing! Kids pasta not so. Their portion was same size as kids portion we’d seen heading to another table. It was cold, had hardly any sauce on it and was really not very appetising at all. It’s surely one of the easiest meals to get right?! Spoiled what would have been a lovely, if overpriced meal. We asked if they’d delivered us the kids pasta instead but despite being the same size it was in fact the adult portion. Really weird. They were smiling and friendly but completely dismissive of any suggestion that the pasta was disappointing. We decided against deserts on basis that they might be as disappointing as the pasta and went next door to the very nice beach snack bar for waffles and coffee! Awesome. Is the pasta bolognese a punishment for not ordering fish?! Who knows. Although it was a lovely fish stew, kids said it was worst meal they’d had in a long time. Go (without kids ) for a great fish meal if you have a lot of time and a lot of money!

Flavours and view were wonderful although the service let us down and didnt quite match a top restaurant level in some cases. Dishes were well excuted although we found a pièce of shell in one dish. By attending it to the staff the reaction was almost like; shit happens, without much effort of an honest excuse. My wife wo is pregnant asked if there was a non alcoholic drink option to match some dishes. After 20 min we asked again and the only response was; the sommelier said no there isnt. 20 min later the sommelier came to ask if she was interested to have a japanese typ of thee which was good. My espresso along the dessert was forgotten and as we had just finished it another waitress came to tell us we could pay at the desk as they would close soon(there were still 4 tables present). We mentioned about the espresso which was swiftly brought and they told us it was on the house although it was already included in the menu price.. even at mentioning some of the flaws while paying at the desk it was kinda dismissed as being irrelevant. All in all, great food, awesome flavors, stunning view. Improvements on the service seem a necisity or we just had bad luck
Hans M — Google review
An interesting fact about this place is that the later you make a reservation, the worse the table you'll get. When you arrive at the restaurant, you'll be greeted by an irritable Frenchwoman from the hotel's reception desk, who will yell at you that taxis are not allowed to stop here. This is a very bad first impression. The girl who greets you at the entrance to the restaurant won't say "hello, welcome," but will instead say "name, reservation" in a very rude manner, without even smiling. The service was terrible, and I had to ask the waiter to pour me champagne every time, because the waiter was never in the dining room. The food was average, and the 5/7 dishes had strange combinations of flavors, and the concept was lost. We spent 3 hours there, and the place had no personality other than a schoolroom with terrible lighting, and I almost fell asleep. I didn’t see there anyone smiling. The Michelin star was only for the location.
Violetta M — Google review
Highly recommended. Such a beautiful place, it's not only about the view. The cuisine of chef Laurent Lemal is very well thought. Local products worked in the most creative and beautiful way. The deserts made by Julie are also waow. The Sommelier team is well trained and very friendly. Service staff is also on top of everything. Amazing experience ✨. Worth the price.

Some restaurants seduce you before the first bite. Here, it’s the terrace—perched over Collioure Bay, offering a view so stunning you’d almost forgive a middling meal. Luckily, there’s no need: the kitchen delivers a dining experience that matches the scenery, course after course. From the start, the service strikes the right note. The staff isn’t just polite; they’re attentive, professional, and genuinely invested in making sure your meal feels tailored. Before the first dish even arrives, they ask about allergies or ingredients you’d rather avoid, then adjust the menu accordingly. It’s a thoughtful gesture that sets the tone for what follows. The shorter tasting menu—our choice—turned out to be anything but skimpy. What arrived was a parade of small plates, each more charming than the last. The miniature vegetables were a delight, particularly a tiny eggplant that packed more flavor than seemed possible. The fideuà with scarlet carabineros was a standout, rich and briny, a dish that lingered long after the plate was cleared. Not everything soared. A white fish paired with a zucchini blossom stuffed with potato looked lovely but fell flat on the palate, its flavors muted where the rest of the meal sang. Still, such missteps were rare. Dessert more than redeemed things—a clever tomato creation that played with sweetness and acidity in a way that felt surprising and deeply satisfying. The petits fours with coffee sealed the meal with a final indulgent flourish. Romantic, relaxing, and above all delicious, this is the kind of place that turns a meal into an experience—and one you’ll want to recommend before you’ve even left the terrace.

Overall a pleasant experience. But compared to other Michelin starred restaurants I’ve been to the food was unfortunately not as well executed. Flavors was not very well balanced throughout. Great wine and really good service. Enjoyed the evening though I expected more from the food.

Beautiful pier and beach. Perfect for swimming when it's a bit warm. There are toilets nearby where you can change, however you must wear proper clothes on the way to and from the beach. Nice scenery with the castle.

LOST IN THE COLOURS OF COLLIOURE: A MEDITERRANEAN GEM Nestled between the shimmering Mediterranean Sea and the vine-laced foothills of the Pyrenees, Collioure is one of those rare places that captures your heart before you even realise it's happened. I had barely stepped off the coastal road before I was met with a visual symphony: ochre and pink buildings, sunlit stone alleyways, and the brightly painted fishing boats bobbing in the bay like strokes from an artist’s brush. And in a way, that’s exactly what they are. THE TOWN THAT INSPIRED THE MASTERS Collioure is no ordinary coastal town. It is where the modern art movement Fauvism was born. Henri Matisse and André Derain fell under its spell in the early 20th century, enchanted by the quality of the light and the riot of colours. As I strolled through the town, it was easy to see why. Every corner looks like it could be a painting — and many of them are. Look out for the trail of easels around town showing famous works painted at the exact spots where the artists stood. A CASTLE BY THE SEA You can’t miss the Château Royal de Collioure. It dominates the seafront — a fortress that has guarded this coastline since medieval times. Exploring it is like stepping through centuries: from the Knights Templar to Vauban’s reinforcements under Louis XIV. The views from the ramparts across the harbour are breathtaking — especially at sunset, when the sky turns a palette of gold and lavender. THE POSTCARD VIEW The most photographed spot in Collioure is surely the Église Notre-Dame-des-Anges, perched right on the water’s edge. Its distinctive pink dome and lighthouse-like bell tower are the town’s calling card. Whether you see it by day, reflected in the still sea, or by night when it's gently lit, it’s a sight that stays with you. FOOD WITH SOUL If you’re a seafood lover, you’re in luck. Collioure is famous for its anchovies, still prepared traditionally in local factories you can visit. I sat down at a quayside café and enjoyed a platter of anchovies in oil, olives, and a glass of Banyuls, the local fortified wine — sweet, rich, and perfect with salty fish. Restaurants like Le 5ème Péché or Casa Léon deliver refined cuisine without the pretense. And don’t skip the ice cream at Glaces et Mignardises — I had lavender and honey, and I still think about it. BEYOND THE TOWN Collioure is also a great base for exploration. The hiking trail to Fort Saint-Elme gives stunning panoramic views of the coast and vineyards. If you're feeling adventurous, walk part of the Sentier du Littoral, the coastal path that leads to nearby coves and fishing villages. FINAL THOUGHTS Collioure is like stepping into a living painting — a place where the Mediterranean meets the muse. It's elegant without being stuffy, artistic without trying too hard, and impossibly photogenic at every turn. It’s the kind of town that lingers long after you’ve left. And if you do visit, don’t be surprised if you find yourself planning your return before you’ve even unpacked. See you next time, Collioure. You’ve made a masterpiece of my memories.

Discover the Classified Site of the Cove of Paulilles, located on the Vermeille Coast near Port-Vendres. Take a 10-minute bus ride to explore this natural gem and visit the site house to learn about its fascinating history. The beach offers a stunning backdrop for relaxation and exploration, with opportunities for snorkeling among excellent rocks and paddleboarding in the bay. A leisurely walk from the car park leads through an area showcasing exhibits on local fishing and dynamite production.
The site is fabulous with the most beautifully kept grounds/gardens. It is well preserved and easily accessible for all, the car park is large and even in a busy day we find a space. The approach to the beach is lovely. Well worth a visit

Lovely beach with excellent rocks for snorkeling. Also a good bay for paddleboarding. The beach is a 10/15min walk from the car park, through a beautiful area which has exhibits about fishing and dynamite making in the area. There is also a cafe about half way through the walk. The beach is a mixture of stones and gritty sand. Waters are extremely clear and we were able to spot starfish, jellyfish and an octopus when snorkeling around the bay. There is no cafe/restaurant etc actually on the beach, so make sure you take plenty of food and drink for your visit.
Katherine D — Google review
Love this area. Big, free car park and access to the beach, there is a small cafe on site and a large decked area under the trees next to the beach. You can pay to go on organised walking tours, (I've not done that). Clean, well maintained toilet block.

Mediterranean restaurant
Le Fanal, also known as The Lantern, is a stylish restaurant offering Mediterranean-inspired dishes made with local ingredients. Located overlooking Banyuls marina, this airy venue provides stunning port views. Chef Pascal Borrell, who has worked in top Paris restaurants and earned multiple Michelin stars, showcases his expertise through a menu focused on fish such as hake, monkfish, sole, turbot, cod and anchovy pickles marinated in Banyuls vinegar.
Enjoyed a delightful dinner on a slow Winter evening a week before Christmas. Was happy I could book a reservation online same-day! After microwaved meals in the hotel a Michelin Star experience was very refreshing and satisfying. Chose the mid-range formula menu with wine paring. Service was attentive, without being suffocating. Server spoke English with me, even sharing details about the wine glasses that I found beautiful. 2 more courses to go (formage et les dessert!!) I’ll need a walk around the port before driving back to hotel. Merci for a delicious meal!

We had the tasting menu with wine pairing that did not disappoint! Each course was excellent with well matched wines. The staff were efficient and friendly from when we entered to when we left. We look forward to returning!

Very good dining here, we stopped for lunch on a weekday and it was packed. Try the boar, it's an extra 10 euros but very good in my book. The desert mille feaux was also very good. I did take a picture of their menu but they asked me not to post it because some other restaurant is stealing their menu, go figure lol, so I'm respecting their wishes. Service is a little clumsy and too invasive for Americans but it's the same all over Europe. We loved the restaurant.
Jim D — Google review
Splendid fine dining establishment in a nice location on the port. A few things didn’t work for me: It took them a really long time to serve us and they never apologized They had a super standoffish and snobby attitude as if their restaurant was the best anywhere The food was good but not great Still a good effort from the chef in creativity.

In the second row streets with the view to the bay and castle through the gate, this small restaurant offers an innovative French menu with a short and fair priced local wine card, and inefficient service in a classic ambiance. We were a couple for a celebratory dinner that chose the banyuls aperitivos, the outstanding gravad tuna, seafood carpaccio, Entrecote, takaki tuna, a delicious chocolate mousse, all with a fabulous local Grenache red wine, a digestive, waters and coffee for €80/pax.

La Bodeguita is a must-try restaurant in Collioure, offering a unique blend of Catalan and Polynesian cuisine. The owners, who hail from Collioure, spent several years in French Polynesia where they ran another successful eatery. This fusion restaurant provides a delightful tropical ambiance and boasts exceptional food presentation. It has received rave reviews on Tripadvisor, ranking as the top restaurant out of 70 in Collioure.
Short answer: la Bodeguita should have a Michelin star. Long answer: the food was outstanding. We had the scallops and truffle (fantastic), the ceviche (excellent), the pata negra (always a favorite), and the salmon with passion fruit (really good). The wine choices were a little limited, the service a bit slow (in fairness they were swamped), and I would still give this six stars if I could.
C T — Google review
Amazing to find a gem like this in little Collioure! The restaurant is small and cozy with a very professional and friendly staff. The food is beautifully and creatively presented, always with amazing flavors. I don’t know what the dessert was called but it was SO GOOD. I can’t find any negative points for this restaurant, everyone was very happy with the experience!
Elvira R — Google review
La Bodequita is a DO NOT MISS place in Collioure. For me it was one of THE BEST meals I have had in the 12 years living in and the additional 7 years visiting France. The menu is brief, the venue is small and cozy and the service is friendly and unhurried. And the food is delicious, inspiring, inventive and so so memerable. This is not the place to come for the same old, same old sometimes boring French food. The Chef here knows what he is doing and is willing to take risks, which, in my humble opion most French chefs don't do enough of. This is the future of French cuisine, with a global outlook and embrace.
Brent M — Google review
A wonderful dining experience in a cosy, intimate setting – perfect for a romantic evening or a night out with friends. Everything was perfectly executed: the meat was cooked to perfection, and the balance of flavours was spot on. The salmon tiradito, with its slightly spicy passion fruit sauce, struck a beautiful harmony between fruity sweetness and subtle heat. The lamb was tender and perfectly pink, while the beef with Banyuls sauce was rich and full of flavour. The wine list is well curated, and the owner – clearly passionate and attentive – recommended the perfect bottle to match our dishes. All of this in a warm, welcoming atmosphere, accompanied by soft salsa music in the background. A high-quality restaurant we wholeheartedly recommend – and one we’ll definitely be returning to.
Camille G — Google review
Not certain how anyone could give this beautiful restaurant less than 5 stars! The chef is an artist! We spent 2 weeks in Spain and France and this was in the top 2 meals! The service was friendly and on point! This hidden gem is a must try! We had truffle butter sushi to start, poke bowl and curry prawns for the main course along with local wine! Don’t pass this one up!
Michelle B — Google review
Great food and service. Particularly loved the starters (salmon and scallops), the carignan white wine and the crème brûlée which was 10/10 and the best I had - and I tried lots! Highly recommend.

Fantastic little restaurant in the streets of Collioure. Food is of a very high standard, beautifully cooked and presented. Nestled in the heart of the vineyard estate, Les Clos de Paulilles offers a true winegrower's dining experience with its Mediterranean homemade cuisine that highlights the property's wines. The chef creates refined dishes and local specialties using seasonal produce from the beautiful Catalan region, infused with Mediterranean flavors. The menu changes regularly to showcase market opportunities and the chef's inspiration. Guests can enjoy a meal amidst stunning seaside views and appreciate attentive service while savoring delicious food and drinks.
This is one of my favourite places. The setting is sublime. You can dine among the vines covered by shade if required in the tapas/grillade bar with a sea view and excellent food and wine. Or you can dine in the restaurant where equally the food, service and wine is excellent. I go back many times. Thank you to the staff for the pleasurable experience.

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Not Recommended!!! We had a very unpleasant experience during our visit. We came for a wine tasting, hoping to discover something we’d enjoy, but unfortunately, we didn't like any of the wines offered. At no point were we informed that there would be a charge if we didn’t purchase anything. It was only at the end—after the tasting—that the host mentioned we had to pay because we weren't buying any bottles. This felt very dishonest and left us feeling pressured and uncomfortable. The person conducting the tasting was extremely disagreeable and pushy, creating an unwelcoming and tense atmosphere. A wine tasting should be a pleasant and informative experience—not one where guests are made to feel guilty or forced into buying something. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a genuine and enjoyable wine experience. Transparency, hospitality, and respect are key in this industry, and sadly, this place lacked all three.
Daria B — Google review
Great place. Excellent location. Copious tapas and good wine. Just sad they had the workers loudly fumigating the vines right next to the restaurant while having lunch. Poor timing.

Went there for dinner at a rather quiet night, it seems. Just three other tables were booked so the restaurant felt a bit empty. The service was very nice and the food pretty good. The setting and atmosphere are truly unique with vineyards on one side and a private beach on the other. Definitely worth the trip from collioure. Plan to arrive with enough time to enjoy the beach and sunset before dinner.

Nature & Parks
Parc municipal de Valmy et circuit botanique is a 19th-century botanical sanctuary surrounding the Chateau Valmy, offering a magnificent view of the Mediterranean coast, the Alberes Mountains, and Rousillon town. The park features native plant species, sculptures, fountains, and shaded seating areas for picnics. It also includes walking paths with informative signposts and an outside play park for children.
This is a beautiful park to visit. Lots of native species of plants and trees. Several sculptures and fountains around the first level of the park. The first level would be fairly accessible for most people however a large additional part is set out on a hillside so there is a bit of walking on sloping paths, some of which has loose stones so care is needed for those less able or with reduced mobility. There are numerous stops with interesting things to see and seating if you need a breather or simply wish to pause and appreciate the marvellous view down over the coast. Some of the stops have a "table d'orientation" so that you are given the information with which to better inform you about the view. If you are lucky some of the local wildlife will make their presence known! There is a large pond where there are often lots of frogs croaking or jumping into the water. There are of course lots of birds. We were lucky enough to see a stork parading around in the main first level area beside the bandstand and fountain. They nest nearby and are often perched in the trees too. There is also a local partridge which is often wandering around, we have seen it several times on visits at several month intervals. This is a beautiful place to picnic and walk around. Several exhibits orientated towards children and lots of space for them to run around. Also has a small café area with a shaded terrace which overlooks the park. Can't comment on the food or opening hours as we didn't go in.

The most charming and wonderful little winery! We came to visit Port-Vendres for a few days from the UK and stumbled upon this place by chance, tucked away near one of the restaurants we went to. We conversed with Guillaume over email before visiting, as I was unsure if the wine tasting would be suitable for us because our understanding of spoken French is limited. When we turned up, we were so happy and impressed with the tasting and the explanations, and really appreciated Guillaume’s efforts to help us in English, and have lovely conversation. He is so passionate about what he does, it’s really lovely to see and hear. We tried 10 wines in our sitting, and they were all wonderful! My boyfriend isn’t a wine drinker at all, but he thoroughly enjoyed the wines we tasted. Unfortunately we didn’t have the space to take much wine with us, otherwise we would have probably got each one we tried! But in the end we settled with taking a bottle of the Banyuls blanc (5th in picture) and the Banyuls Rimage (7th in picture, as a gift for my dad). Could not recommend more :) If we ever return to Port Vendres then we will certainly come back here and collect as much wine as possible to take home with us!

Amazing food, great service, fair prices and lovely location 👌

We arrived in the afternoon for some drinks after sailing in some rough weather. We just wanted to get some alcohol in our veins, but the service was absolutely horrible. The table was dirty and the waitress was kinda rude, but whatever. The first round we ordered took a long time to get, but the second was even worse. Maybe they were in between shifts or something, maybe they just didn't care about us because we were tourists and non french, but after 25 minutes we ordered again the second round. When it finally arrived after like 15 minutes more we just wanted to pay and get out. It wasn't even that full, I've worked in bars and drafting 5 beers it's like 1 minute. Or just having the courtesy of saying that it's going to take a while. It's also unsurprising but disappointing than being like 10 km from the border they can't bother to know one word in Spanish, Catalan, or English. I understand that is not a very touristy place, but it is the first port coming from Spain. I guess they just don't want us there. A very bad experience when you just want some beers and you're tired. Wouldn't go there again in my life, not even after the worst possible storm at sea

Reduced menu due to brocante today. Food was not warm let alone hot (we were not the only customer to mention this). Staff did serve the meal again and this time it was ok. It is a shame, le quai normally exceeds expectations. Let's hope this is a one off.

You will find some old bunkers from 2. WW. Some of them can be entered savely. The ruin of the castle is probably even older. All over the hill there are left overs of antiair guns. We used the seclusion to camp in the wild for one night. Wonderful sunrise included.

Beautiful spot to see the sea and watch boats going in to port. There was a huge yacht there on the day which we enjoyed watching. Also, hundreds of birds diving into the sea to catch fish. Footpaths uneven but worth a walk.

Perched on the rocky edge of Port-Vendres, the ruins of the Fort de la Mauresque stand silent and proud at sunset, witness to centuries of coastal defence and maritime stories. A hidden gem for explorers seeking raw beauty, history, and breathtaking sea views.

La Tramontane stands out from other local restaurants with its daily set menu, showcasing a commitment to fresh and good value food. The restaurant offers great service, fantastic starters and salads, and lovely house wine at a reasonable price. It is also known for its authentic Catalan cuisine and delicious desserts. Additionally, the restaurant is praised for its friendly staff and accommodating service. Located near the tourism office with access to Wi-Fi, it's an ideal spot for families as it has a playground for kids.
Great service, fantastic authentic catalan food all at a very reasonable price. The deserts are especially delicious.

We wanted to have lunch and we saw the reviews were good so we decided to go to this restaurant. It was a really good choice, the food was really tasty and the presentation of the dishes very nice. Also the products are good value for money. The staff is very kind and helpful. Hihgly recommended.

Great friendly restaurant who keeps its doors open in winter.. tasty daily menu..

New set menu every day, typed and dated, usually a sign that someone really cares about the food being fresh and good value, separates La Tramontane from many of the other local restaurants. Great service, fantastic starters and salads, lovely house wine, especially the white, which is local and much cheaper than elsewhere. Really recommend this place.

Don’t expect opening times on Google to match reality. Sunday late February, 20.45 kitchen closed. And don’t expect any service orientation either. Instead of trying to help you out or recommend something else they are only telling you that you are late and that it makes total sense for them to close the kitchen well before 9 PM.

La Côte Vermeille Restaurant

Restaurant
If you're looking for a delightful dining experience in France, consider visiting La Côte Vermeille Restaurant. Situated overlooking the harbor from the west, this restaurant offers an idyllic venue for lunch on its upstairs terrace. While it may not be the most budget-friendly option in town, the quality of its seafood dishes justifies the price. The modern yet cozy interior and fresh, well-presented dishes make for a memorable meal.
Excellent restaurant with a lovely view. Highly recommend the degustation menu, everything was delicious and very well put together. Service very good and nice ambience overall. The price is in-line with the quality on offer. We ate very well here.

It is our favourite restaurant when we have a special event to celebrate in Port Vendres. The restaurant had to close early November due to the Covid lockdown regulations by the government but adapted rapidly with take-aways for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. 20€ for their 2-course and 25€ for 3-course menu. You need to order in advance by phone or at their restaurant. Prices are more than reasonable considering the quality gastronomic dishes. We ordered the grilled calamars and prawns for starters, white fish with mushroom cream risotto and chocolate dessert and everyone was delighted. Our neighbours and friends shared the same opinion. The 3-course Christmas menu was at 36€ and extended to the 3rd January. It was just heavenly! I had the poached oysters on a bed of fresh fish tartar and I believe to be finely chopped cucumbers which was delicious, monkfish for main dish which I savoured and the raspberry dessert was sheer pleasure. We chose different dishes on Christmas eve and everyone was extremely pleased. I only managed to photograph a few of our dishes (not all as we helped ourselves immediately). Each dish was served in a high quality adapted for reheat in the oven or microphone and packed in nice white boxes and a box for transport despite being 200 metres from the restaurant we took the car since it was an order for 6 pax.

This restaurant is well located right on the quay in Port Vendre. The two young waiters were friendly and attentive. The choice of music was excellent and it created a warm ambiance. What let this establishment down was the over priced mediocre food. Small quantities of forgettable food. We will never go back.
Paul K — Google review
Avoid. Rude service from the waitress and waiter who had lost our booking and thought it was hilarious and were sarcastic. Very slow service, no bread offered to us at all during the meal. We eat at lots of restaurants from the Michelin guide, the food was awful, over cooked and tasteless, certainly not up to the standard of the other restaurants we've been to this holiday and in the past. Very surprised this is in the Michelin guide. Two stars given as the setting is lovely however.
Amy F — Google review
Reserved a table on the terrace but reception refused to accept we had done so. Sat at the counter while two tables remained empty the entire time. Also added two desserts to the bill that were included in the set menu. Staff were pleasant and helped to organise a taxi. Food was good but very unremarkable. We’ve eaten here on each trip but this will be the last time.

La Terrasse is a hidden gem that you simply cannot miss when exploring the vibrant streets of Argeles Bourg. Initially, it wasn't on our itinerary, but as we strolled by, its charm drew us in. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, making for an unforgettable dining experience. The food was fresh and homemade, showcasing high-quality ingredients that delighted our taste buds. Service was impressively swift; our meals arrived in no time at all!
This place is wow and food came in less then five minutes for 10 people and the food was so nice and it is right next to the beach with so good service and the staff were the friendliest i have ever seen the place was very clean
