Nature & Wildlife Areas
Birdland Park & Gardens in Bourton-on-the-Water is a top attraction in the Cotswolds, offering 9 acres of woodland and 50 aviaries housing over 500 bird species from around the world. The park features interactive zones for kids and a Jurassic Journey exhibition with life-size dinosaurs and fossils. Visitors can enjoy the sights and sounds of various birds including owls, flamingos, pelicans, and penguins.
A great place to visit. A wide variety of birds from all over the world. Especially enjoyed getting up close to the penguins, a fantastic exhibit, loved watching them swim from the underwater viewing windows. Can watch them feed, along with other birds including the pelicans. Very well set out and all areas easily accessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs. Beautiful scenery. Cafe wasn’t stocked too well however, was short staffed and probably overpriced. This didnt detract for the overall experience. Take a packed lunch! Staff were welcoming, friendly and informative during the feeding display. Would definitely look forward to visiting again.

Never heard of this place which is a shame id 1000% of come earlier ! It's dog friendly as long as its on a lead which was perfect for our little Pomeranian who loved looking into the enclosure's. It took awhile to get around to see everything as two adults and a dog if you had a child could easily whittle away half a day with all there is to see, there's a lovely cafe that serves refreshments and a gift shop with lots of lovely items to keep as a memento.

Beautiful place with lots of different species of birds; loved penguin and flamingos. Well maintained environment. Enjoyed one hour sessions with tortoises, ducks and chickens. We had a walk around ,the sound of the brook and the wind on the trees gave an effect of walking in the woods. Just loved the place and will definitely visit again.

Well worth the money. Really nice place to walk around especially with the kids. The birds are all really well looked after and have spacious enclosures. This place is truly dog friendly. Also enjoyed that the penguin feed and talk was also given in sign. The Jurassic walk down is also good. Our toddler loved the dinosaurs hidden within the nature trail.

Really enjoyed our visit to Birdland! The penguins were so much fun to watch and the flamingoes were gorgeous. There’s such a wide variety of birds to see, with something interesting around every corner. A lovely place to spend a few hours. Highly recommend!

We were looking for things to do in the Cotswolds and stumbled across Birdland! What a fabulous place, if you had kids this would be brilliant to take a picnic as there are so many picnic benches dotted around. There is also an amazing play area and cafe too. It’s so picturesque in parts with the river running through. It needs the support for them to keep doing what they are doing. Please go and support!
Emily G — Google review
My kids loved Birdland Park & Gardens! They enjoyed the penguins, the dinosaur trail, and the gardens. A lovely place for families — It’s better to book tickets online, it’s cheaper and saves time.

3rd Birthday day out for our wee dog. Great day out, so many different species. Loved it! Added bonus that it is dog friendly. The lady who served us on the way in was a little bit grumpy but all the staff going through and when we were leaving, were really nice.

Located on Sheep Street in Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire, The Sheep on Sheep Street is a charming establishment that offers a seasonal menu featuring wood-fired pies, craft beers, and cocktails. Despite its classical 17th-century exterior, the interior exudes a contemporary and vibrant atmosphere with modern decor and a lively ambiance. This multifaceted venue serves as a pub, hotel, and restaurant with bespoke updated rooms that retain their character.
My husband and I had lunch here on our first restaurant trip with our 11 week baby, and our dog. They were very baby and dog friendly and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, ensuring we had lots of space around us and checking in to see how we were getting on. The food was delicious, we both went for burgers which were spot on! The desserts were yummy too. All in all, a lovely lunch and a memorable outing as a family with a small baby. 10/10 would recommend for inclusive hospitality and brilliant food.
Ishita C — Google review
Having pre-ordered a fortnight before the meal, we were disappointed that the food wasn't delivered in such a way that all people could start eating at the same time. Also despite pre ordering, we had to remind the staff to bring one starter and two vegetable side dishes had clearly been forgotten, and had to be rushed out resulting in them being undercooked and not maple glazed. These were subsequently removed from the bill which is only fair considering how they were served. Whilst we were happy to pre-order, there were descrepancies between the preorder menu and the menu in the pub. Consequently the peri chicken dish said it came with salad OR sweet potato fries and therefore the four diners who had selected this dish ordered fries/vegetables to accompany their chicken and salad. Resulting in over ordering and wastage of food. Whole environment was very dog friendly and we found both our dogs were welcomed and had no issues. However across our whole party it was agreed that the evening and the food was lovely. Daniel was polite, attentive and extremely dog friendly. He was a great waiter. TLDR, we greatly enjoyed the food that we got, we just found the overall organisation of the evening to be lacklustre. Menu could use some improvements for clarity. Lots of love Jake and family (Sheila Savage party)

A lovely birthday meal served by the charming Bianca and her colleagues. As vegetarians we loved the wide choice. All the food we had (arancini, cauliflower wings, linguini, mushroom pie) was delicious - great flavour, well-presented and an excellent portion size. We don’t live locally but loved Stow and would definitely come back, particularly to the Sheep. Thanks for a lovely evening - we were definitely looked after!

Had a wonderful Sunday roast. Welcoming and helpful staff. Cosy location. Would visit again if in the area and try the pizza. Great value for money. It was rare to see a bill that didn't include service charge, you have the option to add or not, which we of course did add and hope others do as it's deserved

Just returned from The Sheep after a lovely 3 night stay….our room was really comfortable and the bed was great. Scott was so welcoming each morning for our gorgeous breakfast he and really looked after us. Loved the small talk too - he’s really engaging and happy in his work. Sunday lunch in the restaurant was very nice and the bar seemed to be the place to be in Stow. Would definitely return here although it would be good to see if they can work out something better with the parking situation by then….appreciate though it’s not the easiest to do in this area.

We visited on Saturday night and had booked our table 2 weeks in advance so was surprised to be given, what seemed like, the worse table. It was so dark the menu was unreadable, so we asked to be moved. When we arrived, for our booking, no one greeted and 3 different staff members walked passed us. They did accommodate our request to move tables, buy after having 10 mins to consider our food choices, we were then told those options were not available. Drinks arrived after our starters. We had to asked for cutlery and glasses for our water. No sauces offered when main course arrived. Second drink took so long to arrive we cancelled it and left. The food was good and the place was busy with a great atmosphere. However, the service was really poor. Everywhere else we visited, while staying locally was excellent, such a shame this place wasn't on a par, by a long way.

Had a lovely meal out at the Sheep on Sheep Street. Service really set the tone. Daniel, our server, couldn’t do enough for us and made the experience so good. Sirloin steak definitely one to write home about and the pizzas not far behind. Definitely one to recommend. Look forward to coming back

Went for a family meal a few weeks ago. The place was super busy but the service was great and food quality remained high, no wonder they were full! I was also surprised to hear a live singer (she was excellent). The menu had lots of options and I'm looking forward to returning

Restaurant
The Old Butchers is a charming restaurant located in Stow-on-the-Wold, known for its unique concept of utilizing rare cuts on a British menu. Originally a butchers shop, it was transformed into a restaurant in 2005 and has since gained popularity among food enthusiasts across the Cotswolds. Despite its name, The Old Butchers primarily focuses on seafood and prides itself on its nose-to-tail ethos.
Had a ribeye steak for partner and pork with nduja, seaweed and clam. Pork was so good - tender, flavourful and distinctly sweet from the seafood. Had the best time at the restaurant because of the kind and attentive service staff, in the beautifully decorated space tucked away in Stow-on-the-Wold where we stayed for a few nights.

Had dinner here when touring the Cotswold area. They have a nice outdoor seating area and is heated in the evening. My scallop appetizer was yummy. I had the pork chop as main. It feels more like a pork belly with crispy skins. The meat is bit overcooked.

Hands down the best food place on Stow high street. We had oysters and the fillet steak. Both excellent. Good wine.

We were due to stay in this area for one night, but changed our plans to stay a second night after dining here! We had to come back a second night! The menu reads fabulous and then the flavours of the dishes exceed how the menu reads!! Front of house are true professionals, making you feel welcome from the moment you step in the door. We had Emily looking after us both nights and she was hospitality perfection. This restaurant is a credit to the husband & wife and their team who deserve recognition and applause for running this gem & serving fabulous honest home cooked food.

My grouse was meant to come with game chips. As you can see in the photos these are what most English people call crisps! We were sitting in the window and it was imposible for the servers to reach us - we had to pass the plates down to each other. This would have been fine if the plates weren't exceptionally hot!

Had a wonderful evening here for my niece’s birthday with the family. Service was great and the food was exceptional. We will certainly be coming back. Thank you

Very nice selection of French and English specialties with a decent offer of wines, apéritifs, and non-alcoholics. Starters were good (oysters) and ok (foie gras), mains ranged from not-to-order (filet steak close to blue instead of medium-rare) to good (tuna tartar, chicken) to excellent (dover sole meunière). Deserts were just fantastic. Extremely attentive, fast, and flexible staff.

Exceeded our (high) expectations! Deserves a 4.8+ rating... Wine selection, smoked salmon starter, lobster Mac n cheese, grilled lobster, and homemade ice cream were all exceptional. Staff was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend for a special, delicious meal. Would rank amongst our S-Tier meals in our travels. Best to get a reservation. Thank you to the team for a lovely time!! 😀

Indian restaurant
Prince of India in Stow-on-the-Wold offers classic Indian cuisine with a variety of flavorful dishes. Guests have praised the garlic chicken/lamb from the specialty menu and enjoyed the garlic naan. While some found the service a bit slow, others appreciated the polite staff and quick service during busy times. The Tawa Chefs special and spinach curry were highlighted as particularly delicious, and visitors noted that the tikka masala had a sweeter taste compared to other versions they had tried.
Stumbled into this restaurant and were very glad we did. Loved our meal and the service. So flavorful and well prepared.

Only ate here as every restaurant in Stow was fully booked or closed on Mondays. Heard there are staff shortages everywhere, so book ahead. Loved the decoration here, scenes of India made of wool on the walls. Food was ok nothing special, was also reasonably priced. Staff were attentive. Biggest grievance here is the fact that our clothes and hair are absolutely stinking of the restaurant food, even our underwear. I'm glad I left my jacket in the car.
Lisa S — Google review
Came here this evening, it really did not disappoint. The service and food was amazing. The service and staff was lovely when we were ordering our food and getting us seated at the table. The service was fast, always making sure we liked our food and asking if we needed or wanted anything else. I had a vegetable biryani, it tasted amazing, strong flavours not overly spicy. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Jena F — Google review
Very friendly, welcoming staff who really went above and beyond to make sure our visit was enjoyable. Food was reasonably priced and each dish was uniquely flavoured and tasty. Particular shout out for the Dansak! Had a great mix of spice with the sourness of the pineapple. Would visit again if in the area.

A decent option for stow on the wold but not the best curry we have had by a long shot. I had the chicken tikka jalfrezi and my husband had the chicken tikka from clay oven with dal tadka side dish. The curry sauces were ok but my jalfrezi was swimming in oil for some reason (it didn’t add any flavor so really unnecessary), the major disappointment for us was that the chicken tikka was very dry, sadly it appeared to have been precooked and reheated. The naan, popadoms and jeera rice were good and the drinks were reasonably priced. Overall an average meal but we wouldn’t return in a hurry, it is however the only Indian restaurant option in the area so if you really crave a curry it might hit the spot. No pakora on the menu.

Definitely recommend this restaurant in Stow-on-the-Wold! The service was excellent, and the ambience was warm and welcomingn the perfect setting for a lovely meal. The food was absolutely delicious, we truly ate every last bite. A wonderful dining experience all around. Don’t miss it if you’re in area!
Janine M — Google review
Visited during our mini moon stay in Stow. We hadn't booked but we're given a table as we arrived. Food was delicious, I had vegetable Dhansak and my husband had the chicken Dhansak which is our fave and it had a very nice flavour. Atmosphere was nice and the staff were friendly.
Gemma C — Google review
Staff was rude. When we asked for the rice boxed separately (we had a vegetarian with us) the server became frustrated and began drilling us with questions about why we needed it separately. Curry was sweet, sugary like honey. Couldn't taste any spices. Got sick to my stomach shortly after the meal. A small side of plain rice is over £4. I say that because I was surprised as I ordered curry which in my experience is eaten with rice or bread and neither was included, though curiously some curries do come with rice it seems and veg biriyani comes with curry? Bit confusing from my perspective. I regret eating here.

Located on Digbeth Street in Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire, The Hive is a charming café known for its classic fare and rustic ambiance. The cozy interior with stone walls creates a homey setting where visitors can enjoy freshly roasted coffee and homemade artisan produce throughout the day. The fully licensed eatery offers a laid-back atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for a delicious Cotswolds brunch or just to drop in for a drink.
The warmest of welcomes as we came through the door. Lovely staff, couldn't do enough for us. Literally every member of staff smiled and that goes a long way. The venue is a clean and tidy cafe, very well presented. The menu had plenty to choose from and the Full Hive breakfast was outstanding. We will definitely return.

Just left the cafe and feel we have to review straight away as it was fantastic. Struggled to find a cafe with gluten free options and the hive had plenty. We had the warmest welcome, gorgeous brunch (such good GF bread!!!) and such good coffee. I would recommend the Hive to anyone.

One of my family members raved about this cafe/restaurant during their trip to Stow-on-the-Wold last year, so of course, we had to try it while visiting the Cotswolds. We arrived shortly before closing one afternoon and were seated right away. We tried the vegan sticky toffee pudding and a “pim” slice of cake: both were so good!! You couldn’t tell that the sticky toffee pudding was vegan at all, especially with its rich and decadent frosting. We enjoyed every bite and would definitely return the next time we’re visiting!

I really wanted to leave a 5 star review, however, i found the price point to be excessive which I presume is “cotswold weighting” largely I guess to the number of one hit tourists visiting. Im not a fan of tipping culture in coffee shops and cafes, and being asked to tip, even though its polite (I did tip) added to an already expensive experience. Everything else is as you would expect, well presented and pleasant.

The Hive was such a good find - we stayed in the apartment and ate in the cafe. Both were excellent! Spotlessly clean, warm, comfortable apartment where attention to detail is evident. Absolutely everything has been thought of - from the electric remotely operated skylights, to every conceivable kitchen item, plenty of crockery, glasses etc so no need to keep washing up/putting dishwasher on, lovely white company bed linen and towels, smart TV with soundbar, underfloor heating in the bathroom, and so on. The cafe downstairs was the best we ate in throughout our week in the area (and we tried a few!). Deserving of it's obviously good reputation, made evident by the number of people in for weekend brunch. Lives up to it's name with the 'buzz' of people enjoying food from the exceptionally good menu. Super friendly owners and staff who were not flustered at all by the busy-ness of the cafe - patient, attentive, efficient service. I highly recommend the Hive for food and/or accommodation.

I recently visited this restaurant and was really impressed with the overall experience. The customer service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. The food itself was okay, nothing extraordinary, but still enjoyable. Prices were reasonable, making it a great spot for a nice meal without breaking the bank. The atmosphere and décor were beautiful, creating a relaxing and inviting environment. Overall, a lovely place to dine, especially if you value excellent service and a great vibe.

What a pleasure it was to find this adorable little cafe. We enjoyed a Delicious breakfast and experienced excellent service, which is not surprising seeing as the owners are from Up North originally. Lovely to hear the Manchester twang! Would highly recommend

La Reine is a delightful find with super fresh and delicious food, friendly staff, and a nice relaxing decor. The wide range of homemade food is unreal, including amazing homemade cakes. The cooked breakfast is perfectly delicious and graciously adapted. The Earl Grey tea is fragrant and delicate, complementing the divinely light Victoria Sandwich. The breakfast roll with bacon and sausage patty on a warm brioche bun is fabulously fresh and delicious. It offers excellent but slightly expensive coffee.
Situated near the Christmas shop in Bourton on the Water. A lovely cafe. The very best hot chocolate, so smooth and delicious. We had BLT baguettes they were very good. Service was quick. A great place to stop for lunch or just a coffee and a cake.

We visited La Reine during a long weekend stay at Bourton on the water and glad we did! We managed to get seating in the back garden section which was lovely and quiet as it was early in the day- very helpful with our dog that was being very reactive due to being in a new area. I had a lovely hot chocolate and we each had a full English breakfast. Lovely sausage pattie made a nice change from normal sausages. I loved the mushrooms- so many places show the mushrooms no love at all and these were really nicely seasoned. Nice fresh toast and plenty of butter. Skipped the black pudding (sorry!). Nice jammy eggs, baked beans and yummy bacon. Everything you look for in a cooked breakfast. Managed to grab some freshly made bakes goods on the way out - mine was a plum and meringue tart, the other half had a Bakewell. Both delicious! Thanks for having us, we hope to be back again.

We had a bad experience with service here. Exceptionally rude staff, which is sad as food looked good but we never got to eat. We felt unwelcomed and left. whereas other places around here were nice. I would avoid this cafe and go anywhere else.

First, I want to share an incident that happened to me here. I ordered brunch, and the food wasn't fresh. The employee was bald and wore glasses. I politely asked the employee to replace it, and the employee responded in a very sarcastic and disrespectful manner, saying they wouldn't replace it. It looked like a cute cafe in a tourist area, but the staff were extremely disrespectful and sarcastic. It was a level of disrespect I hadn't seen before in England. And the employee behaved like this towards everyone. I definitely do not recommend this place.

Excellent cafe with a rather quirky atmosphere. Stopped here for lunch a group of four of us. We managed to grab on of the last tables. note at busy times you only be seated if your are eating, no drinks only orders. We ordered a mixture of sandwiches, paninni's, and drinks. all came quickly, and were well filled and delicious. Service was excellent. Was pleasantly surprised when waitress came over and apologized for accidentally overcharging us and refunded it. not the cheapest but baring in mind the location in a busy tourist area we were happy with the cost.

The restaurant prides itself on serving meticulously sourced, high-quality, seasonal food. With a patio area, visitors can savor their meals while taking in the historic surroundings.
Absolutely stunning food, fabulous service and a lovely atmosphere. Booked a table for Sunday lunch to celebrate my birthday. It’s one of the best Sunday lunches I’ve ever had - generous amounts of meat, well cooked vegetables, fluffy Yorkshire pudding and lots of gravy. The waitress was helpful and friendly and we didn’t have to wait long for the food. My daughter had a chicken, mushroom and garlic pie and it was just a good. I even got a free drink to celebrate my birthday- which was a lovely, unexpected touch. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

We had the absolute best experience at The Porch House for dinner. Made a reservation for 2 at 7PM, got in just a bit before a rush and ordered. The kids fish and chips was actually the best fried cod we’ve had here, wonderfully crispy batter and perfectly cooked fish. Chips were great as well. My husband ordered the 10oz Dry Aged Ribeye, told the waiter he really did not want it over cooked, and the waiter said not to worry. Sure enough it came back a beautiful medium rare. The peppercorn sauce was great too, tad closer to a gravy and delicious. You need to order the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Moist and tender cake, absolutely soaked in a plethora of toffee sauce. Paired with a delicious ice cream. The best toffee pudding we’ve had here as well. A must-buy. Staff was welcoming and even during rush, though you can tell some younger waiters might get a bit flustered and rushed, they still were able to accommodate what we needed in good time. Would absolutely recommend and would absolutely come back.

We had a wonderful experience at The Porch House! Mandy was absolutely lovely — such a friendly, welcoming lady who went out of her way to make sure both we and our dogs felt completely at home. The attention to detail and genuine care made such a difference. The food was 10/10, beautifully presented and delicious, and the service was just as impressive. We’ll definitely be coming back the next time we’re in the Cotswolds. Highly recommend!

Natalie Jo Caitlyn and Richard were absolutely amazing. Such great people with wonderful ideas for our Cotswolds activities. Breakfast was wonderful. So good that we ate there every morning for 6 mornings. We cannot wait to return and see all again. And of course the location in the old pub is fantastic.

Me and my partner visited Stow on the Wold for the weekend and booked in at “The Porch House” for a nice cosy evening meal. The place itself is absolutely gorgeous and so inviting. We were served by a lovely girl called Ella who was very friendly and good fun! We had the Salt and Pepper squid to start which was perfect (I’m very fussy with my squid). And then we shared the Côte de Boeuf which was just stunning. The beef was so soft and full of flavour. The peppercorn sauce was the best i’ve had. Would 100% come again, we loved it and it was just the place we were looking for 🥰

Lovely picturesque location, wonderful setting with lots of Cotswold old-world charm. Clean, comfortable and well appointed room and the restaurant is top notch, both in terms of service and the quality of the food. 5/5 all day long. We would definitely come back, it is charming. Minor Fixes that could be done to quite easily make this experience a perfect 5/5: We stayed in No. 7. 1. Fix the Wi-Fi. It is painfully slow and not befitting a place of this calibre, stature or price bracket. No way we could stream a Netflix show. The connection just about loads the BBC website. 2. Fix the heated towel rack in the bathroom. The heated towel radiator is a national icon, so why do they never bloody work? This one was beautiful in its design and yet my towels are, and remain, cold and damp. 3. The TV—yes we wanted to watch a bit of telly after a long day in the tea rooms and pubs and after a pleasant dinner. It didn't work. We couldn't turn the damn thing on. 4. Fix the extractor fan in the bathroom. There is a vent but we could not find a switch to activate it...anywhere. 5. Fix the sink stopper / plug.

My partner and I recently spent a week in the Cotswolds and we're blown away by how rustically beautiful this area is. After driving around through picturesque villages and rolling fields filled with English country wildlife we finally came across stow on the wold and right in the Centre is the Porch house inn. The oldest Inn in England. Perfect for food and great ale. You couldn't ask for more. Really comfortable pub, friendly welcoming atmosphere. We hadn't booked but got lucky. Country feel with flagstone floors and famous Cotswold stone walls. Two pints and great food. Thank you very much. I put a couple extra pics in to show you some beautiful shots just around the corner from the inn.

Went for dinner and it was amazing. Service was fast and with a smile. Food was fantastic, and cooked perfectly. If I have one tiny criticism it would be that it was very warm inside.

St Edward's Church, located in Stow on the Wold, is a picturesque medieval church with a tall tower and ancient yew trees flanking its north door. The church has elements dating back to the 11th century and features various historical periods up to the Victorian era. It is named after the town's patron saint, Edwardstow.
Divine. A well cared for country church that receives many more visitors than most. People swarm to see the Durin door but most likely miss the quiet and peaceful interior or the ancient and interesting history of the building. There’s actually a queue of people who wait to take a picture in front of the famous door at many times of the day. I think my favorite thing was the bells ringing while inside the church.

St Edward’s Church in Stow-on-the-Wold is a real delight — a peaceful gem full of history, beauty, and character. The famous north door, framed by ancient yew trees, almost feels like something out of a fairy tale (many visitors even say it inspired Tolkien) — it’s definitely a photo highlight. Inside, the church is calm and welcoming. The stained-glass windows are beautiful, and there’s a strong sense of heritage throughout — old gravestones, classic architectural details, lovely memorials. The churchyard is quiet and well-kept. Even though it’s right in a visitor-populated town, once you step in, there’s a serene space to pause and reflect away from the bustle. If you go, try to visit early or later in the day to avoid the crowds around the door, so you can truly soak in the atmosphere. All in all, well worth a visit.
Tom G — Google review
We had to see the famous door that inspired Tolkien and pictures don’t do it justice. There’s usually a small line to get pictures but nothing horrible. There’s usually church itself is also very nice and it’s free to enter.

St Edward’s is a beautiful and welcoming parish church. The Gothic Revival architecture is striking, especially the lantern tower that fills the interior with light. It has a sense of history and peace while still being very much alive as a community space. The atmosphere inside is warm and reverent, making it a lovely place for prayer, reflection, or attending Mass. A real gem in Golders Green – both for its spiritual life and its architectural charm.

Beautiful old church tucked away in the heart of Stow-on-the-Wold. The famous tree-framed north door looks like it’s straight out of a fantasy film—absolutely magical. Inside, it’s peaceful, full of character, and beautifully maintained. A quiet spot to pause and soak in the history of the Cotswolds.

We visited as a family to see the Doors of Durin. There was a it of a wait to take a picture however it was worth the wait. There is free parking right next to the church and it is easy to find. The Door is beautiful and I can see why slot of people visit this sight.

Stow on the Wild is a nice town in the middle of the Cotswold. Not much to do. Not much to see. Just sit. Sip a pint. And watch life slowly roll by. Busy town center. Parking is a hassle. A town one would spend an hour at, unless you stay for more than a pint !! My pictures reflect ALL there is to see in Stow.

The Talbot is a vibrant and lively pub located at the head of the square in Stow on the Wold. It offers classic British dishes, real ales, ciders, and fine wines. The interior is quirky and colorful with a mix of traditional elements like an oak fireplace and modern touches such as pop art and mismatched Union Flag furniture. Despite slightly higher prices compared to other places in the village, it has been operating since the 1700s, making it rich in history.
Absolute love the Talbot me and my partner decided to go for lunch. Honestly the food was amazing, hot, tasty, huge portions ( I couldn't eat all mine) great value for money. Friendly staff and a great atmosphere. We will definitely be going again. Lovely place x

Nice late lunch / early dinner. The bar team were super friendly and very helpful. We had a small delay before ordering food but hardly noticed. Food was excellent, with portions, quality and flavour all being superb. Nice atmosphere. Recommended!
Chris W — Google review
It’s a good pub if you want to have a drink, depending on what day you go. The drinks are expensive. However not overly Inviting. Came in for a table, the waitress was fast and nice, was told to sit anywhere, wasn’t busy. There was a random table in the middle of the room, there were dirty tables, puddles of liquid on the floor. The menu is very basic. Screaming and shouting coming from the kitchen. Ended up leaving and going elsewhere for dinner. Unfortunately due to the experience I had today, I will not be going back.

We had such a wonderful experience here- so much that we returned 3 times during our stay in Stow! The Sunday roast was excellent, the bar staff are phenomenal (thanks Liam!!🍻), and the owners made us feel so welcome. Very dog friendly and we definitely recommend popping by on Wednesday evening for the open mic night. A true local vibe that’s homely and not pretentious. Can’t wait to return😊

Huffkins Stow is a charming bakery and tearoom located on Market Square in Stow-on-the-Wold, with additional locations in Burford and Cheltenham. This upmarket local venture offers a delightful selection of handmade cakes, luxurious hampers, and gifts centered around the theme of afternoon tea. The tearoom provides a cozy atmosphere for enjoying classic tea-time treats as well as a special Teddy Bears Picnic afternoon tea for children aged three and over.
We popped into Huffkins for a tea and some pastries. Everything was really good. Service was friendly and efficient. It is order at the counter, which was fine. Food was all homemade, so really delicious. I would definitely recommend coming here for a bite to eat if you're visiting Stow-on-the-Wold. Can't wait to come back at some point in the future!

Quick lunch time treat, was working locally so decided on popping into Huffkins in Stow, it was incredibly warm day and all of the outside tables were taken, on arrival I was directed to a window seat in the main cafe area/shop which was great the staff were good , impressed with the menu and drink offerings my only niggle was sitting in the window you are subjected to anyone looking to purchase anything from the shop, but that’s just me it’s not a complaint just an observation, had i mentioned it I’m sure they could have found me an alternative seat 😊 all in all a very enjoyable visit one of the best fish finger sandwiches I’ve had! will definitely call in again when I’m in the area.
Mike P — Google review
Oh I wanted to love this place so much! But the food was super meh, the tea was completely flavorless, the scones were nice and airy, Sammies were meh, we got the traditional tea service, 65 pounds for 2, and we ended up eating only about of 1/3 of it. It was kind of a cute atmosphere, but the kitchen is very loud and beepy and it just wasn’t super quaint.
M G — Google review
Very cosy English countryside atmosphere, food & drinks are also simple and delicious. A good place to rest after shopping or while exploring nearby towns. It also has a small shop inside where you can buy condiments used in the cafe food (such as chilli jams, sandwich pickles, chocolates, etc)
Ash R — Google review
We booked Huffkins afternoon tea for a treat for our anniversary. While we very much appreciated the warm welcome and the excellent service from your attentive staff, we were unfortunately left a little underwhelmed by the food itself. At £60, we were expecting a wider variety of sandwiches, but there were only three options available. The scones were quite dry, and the cakes lacked freshness and flavour. I thought it might be helpful to share this feedback, as we did notice and value the efforts of your team in providing great customer service.
Jessica F — Google review
Centre of stow and easy to find on the right as you drive in to the main centre . Plenty of parking but you might have to wait for a space as can get busy especially on a nice day . Cafe has indoor seating and a few tables and chairs outside so you can watch the world go by . We had a bit of banter with the staff which was nice . Would recommend for smaller groups as was very busy while we was sitting outside . toilets upstairs
Marc W — Google review
Looks cute from the outside but we didn’t realise how much seating was inside. Even though we came around 10am and it didn’t seem very busy we had to wait 15 minutes for a pot of tea and 20 minutes for our pancakes (the lovely staff did pre-warn of the wait when we ordered). Pancakes were tasty but we felt they were a over priced for the very small amount of topping provided. Took away a raspberry eclair (£5.95) which you can get for free if you download the app, but it was very dry. Overall this felt like a ‘tourist trap’ which there is nothing wrong with if you want something straight forward but it wasn’t a high quality independent cafe we were hoping for. Should have done our research before going in.

We were visiting Stow and as we had an early start, we were feeling a bit hungry and thirsty, so popped into Huffkins. The staff were really friendly and showed us to a table and explained that good was ordered at the counter. We went for an English breakfast roll and sausages in a roll with drinks and cakes. Food was really high quality and tasted great. If we visit Stow again, will definitely come back here for food.

The Old Bakery Tea Room is a charming, family-run tearoom located in Stow-on-the-Wold. It offers a delightful selection of light bites, baked goods, and cakes, as well as special cream teas. Tucked away in Fountain Court, this hidden gem has been serving homemade meals since 2005. The warm and quaint atmosphere extends to the patio where friendly servers are knowledgeable about the menu and eager to assist guests.
The best English breakfast I’ve ever had! Every dish was delicious, and everyone at our table — kids and adults alike — was equally thrilled. We ordered generously, left with full bellies, and were ready for the best day in the Cotswolds. A sweet bonus: while waiting for our food, we enjoyed a little reading from their tiny but lovely collection of Winnie-the-Pooh books. Such a charming touch that made the experience even more memorable.

The Old Bakery Tearoom is a true hidden gem in Stow-on-the-Wold. Alan, the owner, gave us such a warm welcome and made us feel instantly at home. The tearoom itself is cozy and charming, but the real highlight is the scones — freshly baked, served warm, and honestly the best we’ve ever had. If you’re visiting the Cotswolds, skip the crowded tourist spots and make the effort to find this place. It’s absolutely worth it.

Experience the exquisite taste of award-winning coffee at Coach House Coffee, a charming family-run café located in an old coach house with three floors. Awesome café with lovely views onto the plaza. The coffee is very good, the frangipane is delicious, and the pastries switch around every day. There was also a beautiful looking twisty cone-like pastry with lemon curd that was amazing. Like other cafés in town, it has rooms to sit in in the upper levels and looks absolutely lovely everywhere. Everyone is lovely too. As the café is very visible and popular, sometimes you need to have a bit of luck to be able to eat in, especially on the weekends, when the whole town gets very crowded.

Great place to go in Stow for Coffee & Cakes. Sadly today, however, the staff were met with a frightfully rude customer. The Old Stocks Inn is a charming 16th-century inn located in Stow-on-the-Wold, Cotswolds. The unfussy rooms and cooked breakfast provide a comfortable stay for guests. It was definitely a very warm welcome and fantastic food. Just visited today, not having booked beforehand and therefore not expecting a table but thought we would ask anyway. The staff couldn’t have been friendlier and they welcomed us (a family of 4 including our 2 kids and our 47kg Labby boy). We were seated in a really lovely clean and modern but welcoming bar area with comfortable seating. The food, service and atmosphere were really good. We can definitely recommend the Sunday roast beef and the Almond and Pear Tart. Husband also said the sticky toffee pudding was the best he had ever eaten! Definitely Recommend this wonderful restaurant. Dog friendly also, with a Dog food menu! Looking forward to our next visit. Thanks for a lovely experience.

Breakfast and dinner were great. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Our room was on the top floor. No elevators, had to walk up three flights with heavy luggage on very old floors which are slanted and narrow. Low wooden beams were in the hallway, our room, and in the dining room. Yes, I hit my head. I do not recommend the hotel if you cannot carry your bags up and down very narrow stairs. Anyone over 5’9”” has to watch low hanging beams.

The rooms are exceptionally well-appointed, featuring true luxury details like plush towels, robes, and slippers. We found the bed and pillows incredibly comfortable, ensuring a perfect night's sleep. In-room amenities are thoughtfully provided, including a Nespresso machine, a fine tea selection, and delightful assorted treats. The small fridge is a great convenience for chilling a few drinks or a bottle of wine. The staff are wonderfully warm and welcoming, making the entire stay a pleasure. Highly recommend this inn!

Amazing location, great breakfast! My husband and I stayed for two nights in April 2025 in a “cozy great room”. The service was great, room was definitely “cozy” (bathroom was well-appointed though a little awkwardly laid out). The location absolutely can’t be beat - the town itself is super charming and acts as a great home base for exploring the Cotswolds. We truly enjoyed the breakfast and they had some of the best coffee we had on our two week UK trip. Would definitely recommend!

Varied breakfast and evening dinner (they are open Mondays, whereas not everywhere is in Stow); worth booking. And all staff are excellent. I visited on a Thursday in August so it was quite busy. I ordered a Ploughman's lunch and was told there was a 30 minute wait for food so I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived after only 20 minutes. The Ploughman's itself was excellent - no ham but a tasty sausage roll instead along with sweet pickle, pickled onions and gherkins and of course the obligatory slab of cheese with bread and butter. Very enjoyable 😃😄😃😄😃

They are incredibly attentive, genuinely kind, and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and welcome. Every detail, from the service to the presentation, reflects great care and thoughtfulness. It’s the kind of place where you can truly relax, enjoy your tea, and feel completely at ease. Highly recommended!

We were lucky enough to stay here this past weekend. We haven’t stopped talking about it since! The building is warm and charming in the gorgeous square of Stow-on-the-Wold. Everything is within walking distance. The room was perfectly cozy and the bed was perfect. We were the only ones there for the night. We met Dawn who was the absolute best host we’ve ever come across. From welcoming us with the best shortbread to giving dinner recommendations, to coming in early with the rest of the team to serve our breakfast before they opened to the public. She even gave us keys so we could come and go through the shop after hours since our room was tucked away in the courtyard! You can stay somewhere else if you’d like, but I’m willing to bet you’d have a better experience at Lucy’s. Besides - you would miss out on Dawn. You’d regret that for sure!

We went today, on a rainy morning, attracted by the place and the reviews. The atmosphere was cosy, very homely and rustic, and both the teas (with lots to choose from) and the cakes, scones and sandwiches were spectacular. But best of all was the attitude and service of the waiters, both Max, who took our order, and the girls, all helpful, attentive, joking and very professional. A ten out of ten experience, we hope to return one day, it's nice to find people and places like this.

Pub
The Queens Head Inn, located in the heart of Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire, is a traditional pub that has been a local favorite since 1865. The inn is part of the Donnington Brewery and offers a cozy atmosphere with beamed ceilings and character features throughout. It's known for its friendly service, offering two local ales and homemade specials. The pub is popular with both locals and visitors seeking an authentic Cotswold experience.
Best bangers and mash I've had since being in the UK. Staff are also very welcoming and friendly. Warm and cosy inside and it's lovely to sit by the fireplace.
Allyphantasy — Google review
Nice pub, very heavy on the locals and obviously the place to get a pint in the evening. Dog friendly inside with a courtyard which is quite basic but has maybe 9-10 large tables. Was quite loud inside so we opted to eat outside and managed to avoid any direct sun or rain (no covers/shade in the courtyard). We had the fish and chips which was perfectly cooked, and the puff pastry topped steak pie which was rich & perfectly balanced.

Great value dining experience using local produce. Attentive service and a cosy pub. I had the pate, followed by sausages and mash. Lush!

Real shame, staff were lovely but I was served a piece of decaying meat in their Sunday roast. They had turned it over but anyone cutting it should have noticed. Staff took it away and offered to replace but at this point I wasn’t hungry anymore. Personally I wouldn’t recommend, perhaps the worst Sunday roast I’ve had in the last fifteen years

As US travelers we wanted an English Pub experience our 1st night in Stow & Queens Head Inn Delivered. Great Service by the staff. Helpful & welcoming. Friendly locals were primary customers. Really tasty pub food (not fine dining for my US friends!) Dog friendly We’ll be back!

We stayed in Stow for a week and this became our "local" the staff were amazing friendly hard working and efficient. Some of the other pubs should take note. Low prices really well kept beer and really good food. Thank you for being our local for the week. We hope to return

Having 2 dinners here while staying at Stow for 3 nights. A good old-fashioned pub in the heart of Stow-on-the-wold. For the city centre the prices were reasonable, and there was a good selection of foods. The staff were all very friendly and professional. It is located closed to the city bus stop ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Cotswold Company Stow-on-the-Wold (Flagship Store)

Furniture store
The Cotswold Company's flagship store, located near the main traffic lights in Stow, offers a wide range of well-made home furnishings designed to last. From comfortable beds and cozy sofas to cushions and throws, each piece is crafted by skilled artisans. The store is housed in an old inn, providing a perfect setting for displaying their quality furniture. Customers have praised the helpful staff and the variety of living and bedroom furniture available.
We are currently refreshing the furniture in our house and have visited another Cotswold store previously, but thought we'd visit the flagship store, as whilst the website is great, it is always good to see the items to get a perspective of size etc. And we thought we'd make a day trip to visit the bigger store and look around Stow. The staff were really friendly and helpful and we left with lots of items and some ideas for new dining room furniture, which I'm sure we will be purchasing online in the future. If you are thinking of visiting, I would recommend.

All looks very nice. My purchase was supposed to be delivered this week it wasn’t, no communication at all. I’ve had to chase to find out what’s going on both customer service and the delivery company seem to have no idea where it is which is surprising as it is an extra large sideboard. No apology I was told I would receive a call or email to let me know what is happening no one has bothered to contact me. I don’t have what I ordered they have just ghosted me and taken my money.
Nicola M — Google review
Plenty of furniture on display; although not everything that can be seen online. Staff helpful but not intrusive. I have ordered some furniture. It will be delivered this week, 3 weeks from when ordered. Disappointing that they charge for delivery - it's not as if you can walk out with large furniture. Also an assembly fee per item. So for a dining table with 2 benches & large bookcase there are 3 assembly fees. Paid as I am not able to do it myself. But as table and benches were, I thought, a set a bit much to have to pay 2 assembly fees. UPDATE after "delivery" Table and 1 bench were missing parts so not able to be constructed, and taken away by the delivery gentlemen. Who advised I would get a telephone call to arrange delivery of replacements. No human contact about the issues with items that were not satisfactorily delivered, and therefore taken away by the delivery gentlemen, who by the way were professional, courteous and polite. They advised me of the issues immediately, I am just thankful I paid the extortionate assembly charge, or I'm sure getting the issues rectify would have been worse. Initially I received an email regarding ONLY ONE OF THE TWO ISSUES. I only got an email about the other issue when I replied to the email stating there were two issues and what they were. If I had received the telephone call as the delivery gentlemen advised I would have been able to get both issues sorted at once. Considering the cost of the furniture I would have expected a much higher quality control or checking of goods before despatch. It makes me feel that I was being sold returned goods, probably returned because of missing parts.

We visited the Stow showroom today and was given help and guidance by Majbritt. She went out of her way to be helpful and was very knowledgeable about furniture and lighting. Thank you very much Majbritt. We hope to see you again soon! Had our furniture delivered by Simon and Sam who as requested made it their first delivery. Great guys who were very professional and set up all our furniture without any fuss. Thank you very much for your outstanding service!

We bought most of our furniture from this store and we are so pleased with the quality and design of each and every item! The customer service was also very helpful and attentive whenever we contacted them. When visiting in-person we were served by Paul who did a really great job helping us making the best choices!

We were looking to purchase a few furniture pieces for our new home. Saw some ads for Cotswold Company so we took a visit to the flag ship store to see some of the pieces in person. Lovely showrooms and staff were knowledgeable and helpful. They were able to get us a quote for our furniture pieces and we gave us colour samples to take home. Ended up purchasing the future online through the quote we were given and further arrived in 2 weeks as expected. No issues with customer service or with delivery. Overall great experience and very pleased with the furniture.

The location based in an old inn is perfect to display the quality furniture on offer. Helpful staff were interested and dealt with our many questions. We returned to purchase the following week after benchmarking their products against rivals. We are now waiting for the items to arrive.

Adding a review here as don't like trust pilot. Excellent chest of drawers, sturdy, well built and designed to give maximum storage space. Has really changed the room. Arrived fully assembled. Delivery team Dave and Mark were very professional and considerate and were not in a rush. Allowed plenty of time to get the item to exactly where I wanted it and for me to check it thoroughly before accepting

The Cotswold Cheese Company

Cheese shop
The Cotswold Cheese Company is a must-visit for cheese enthusiasts, offering over 80 artisan and farmhouse cheeses from around the world. With locations in Moreton-in-Marsh, Burford, and Stow-on-the-Wold, this local deli and gift shop provides a wide variety of soft, hard, goat's, blue, and ewe cheeses to sample and purchase.
Love it, first time shopping here and can’t wait to go back already. What an amazing, delicious and wide range of cheese to choose from ( they also have a good variety of crackers, olives, oils and the lists just goes on) lovely customer service and great value for the money
Anev — Google review
I recently stopped by The Cotswold Cheese Company while exploring the Cotswolds, and I have to say, it was well worth it. The shop itself is small but beautifully stocked — shelves and counters full of artisan cheeses, chutneys, crackers, and other local delicacies. What impressed me most was the selection: they carry an excellent mix of British classics and some unique continental varieties I hadn’t seen elsewhere. I asked about recommendations, and the staff were friendly and genuinely knowledgeable — they encouraged me to try a few samples, which made choosing much easier. I ended up taking home a piece of Stinking Bishop, and it didn't disappoint AT all! It really lives up to its name, it has that unmistakable “locker‑room, sweaty‑sock” whiff from the washed rind, which struck me the moment I unwrapped it. But tastewise, it’s a far different story, nice and creamy, with a delicate nuttiness and fruity hints, far milder than the smell might suggest. Prices are definitely on the higher end, but for the quality and the chance to try something special, I thought it was worth it. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and I didn’t feel rushed, even though a few other customers were browsing at the same time. If you’re in the area and appreciate good cheese, I’d highly recommend stopping in.
Thomas C — Google review
I’m genuinely surprised by some of the negative reviews, as my experience earlier today was excellent. The selection at the Stow-on-the-Wold store was fantastic, and the young lady, Ruby, serving me was more than happy to provide samples based on my requests. Her recommendations were spot-on, leading me to discover some incredible cheeses I wouldn’t have picked myself which were perfect for my cheese board at dinner this evening. The shop has a warm, welcoming feel, and it’s clear the staff are passionate about what they do. If you love cheese, this is a must-visit and I look forward to returning again later in the year on my return to the UK!

A lovely little shop - it has a great selection of cheeses, chutneys, jams and biscuits. I was served by Sandra, she was very knowledgeable and happy to answer my questions. She let me try some of the cheese before making a purchase, which was very helpful. Great service and a nice shop for a little browse. I hope to return to the Cotswolds and this shop again soon!
Jade P — Google review
Great choice of cheeses and a lovely little shop but my god the two young lads you have working here at front of shop are not good. The smaller of the two was terrible. Social skills of a stone and when he was cutting my stinking Bishop the face he was pulling was a thing of beauty. Obviously hates the smell so why work in a cheese shop? Sort it out.

The woman here is absolutely awful. Unhelpful, annoyed by the presence of customers were more likely “certain” customers, lacking knowledge of the product which is a shame…. the cheese doesn’t deserve that. Either get better at customer service in a role that requires it or do something else. Customer service aside the cheese we were able to fork away was decent, the honey phenomenal, and the smoked whole garlic was a treat.

This was the first stop on a “mystery picnic” and the staff were incredibly friendly. We were able to pick any baguette we wanted, and they adapted one to be dairy free as I have an intolerance. The baguettes were delicious and all the ingredients clearly very fresh - we will be back next time we’re in the Cotswolds.

"The Kings Arms" is a historic pub and restaurant located in Stow-on-the-Wold, boasting a cozy atmosphere with its stone walls and fireplace. The establishment offers an eclectic menu and serves real ales, making it a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. Dating back over 500 years, this charming coaching inn has welcomed esteemed guests such as Charles I during his journey to the Battle of Naseby in 1645.
The food and service were on point. I honestly didn't expect much from a chain pub but the slow cooked beef shoulder was to die for. My husband said it's the best meal he had in a long time. We shall be back and I advise everyone to try this delicious meal! Cudos to the chef and keep up the great work.

Had a delicious Sunday roast at the pub on our visit here this July. We had made a reservation online, which was a good thing, because otherwise there would not have been a table available. We had a later reservation in the day but by then they had run out of 2 things on the menu and then emailed us in advance to let us know - which is so considerate of them. The service was excellent and we felt so welcomed. We immensely enjoyed our meal here and would definitely return. Highly recommend.

Lovely location, dog-friendly, and the staff were generally very nice. Unfortunately, our experience at lunch was disappointing. One of the younger staff members accidentally spilt a Diet Coke over my daughter, leaving her soaked, and although he brought over cloths, we had to clean the table ourselves. On top of that, the batter on the fish and chips wasn’t cooked through, so we had to send the meal back. The cost was discounted, which we appreciated, but overall the experience wasn’t what we’d hoped for.

The bed was really Comfy and the room was very large, huge bathroom. The staff at breakfast were amazing and couldnt do enough for us. Checking in staff need a bit more training, have a smile. It was at the top of the Building up some really wonky stairs with a hand rail on only one side. Inside the room we found earplugs in the drawers , this isnt a good sign. Looking out the windows we soon found out why, all of the fans were below us. They did go quiet at 21:30 though. We booked in and payed our money, then asked if we could book dinner and we were told no its full up, yet there are tables outside? We asked about the next night and were told that would be fine but they didnt offer to book then. The next night we asked about Dinner, we checked at 17:00, to be told they had a travelling group in at 6 and they could probably get us some food at 19:30. Poor service. We went over the road to the Talbot, which actually offered more choice and were much happier to seat us and feed us. Shame we didnt stay there. Breakfast was promising but let down on the second morning where most items had been deep fryed to death. I wouldnt say it was worth the cost and probably better to stay else where.

We had dinner on a Saturday night here, it was sensational. Super cosy, great atmosphere and service, and during such a busy period there was nothing at fault. Food was delicious, very homely and exactly what you want when it’s freezing outside, coming inside for a cosy warm pub with a great feel. The braised beef was melt in the mouth, and the pie was perfect - both seeming to be made with love and attention. Lots of locals coming in and out for drinks, which showed how popular it was. I would recommend booking especially for weekend dinners. Will definitely return again.

Didn’t stay here so can’t comment on the rooms. Booked a table at short notice for three of us for a Sunday roast. Couldn’t have been more satisfied. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Reserved table was in middle of the room which they changed on request to a table in the window without any problem. Food was excellent - one of the best roasts I have had in a pub anywhere and much more reasonably priced than the other pubs we looked at in the town (Youngs seem to have a monopoly). My mother in law doesn’t eat a lot but they very kindly offered a child’s portion at a reduced price (so many place just give her less and still charge full price). Washed down with a very well kept pint of Black Sheep. Discount for Blue Light card holders. Would definitely recommend and will be back during our week’s stay in Stow.
David C — Google review
We stayed above the pub, in the hotel, and can confirm that this was absolutely one of the best stays we have had. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the bathroom is huge, with both a bath tub and a shower. There are windows which open and provide fresh air and views of Stow. Everything was clean, and the hotel itself is a very cute, a restored building! However the absolute biggest selling point of this hotel is the staff - everyone we encountered was so friendly and helpful but this review would be remiss if it didn’t highlight the above and beyond service of Carla, the manager, and her husband. They made sure that we had everything we needed, and made themselves available for any questions we had during our stay. They really set this hotel apart from any we have stayed in prior. If you are travelling to the Cotswolds/Stow, stay at the Kings Arms - you will have a lovely stay!!

The long queues outside the small shop are a testament to its reputation, with locals and visitors alike flocking to savor the generous portions and great value for money. This is an excellent traditional chippy. The fish options are Cod Haddock & Plaice. We had cod which was really well cooked The chips were exceptional and so was the curry sauce, which I wouldn't skip. Prices were reasonable and service was great as well. In our group we also had scampi, sausage and fishcake as well - all were well reported. Highly recommended

We were staying one night in Stow for tourism and I’m so glad we went there rather than an expensive pub. The cod was the best I’ve ever had, my friend and I were blown away. There’s no sitting inside but two benches on the outside which was perfect. Best fish and chips of my life, will be thinking about it for a long time!

Went for breakfast , not much on offer apart from pastries and cakes but the coffee was amazing . Almond cossiant was very dry which was a shame and despite being given the WiFi code twice it never worked. Lovely cosy atmosphere with view of the square . I would go back for the coffee but they needed to add a bit more variety in particular as we turned the corner after and saw an amazing bakery .

Nestled away in a charming alley, Alexiou’s Restaurant is a hidden gem that stands out from the usual Cotswolds dining scene. This Mediterranean haven offers an exquisite array of Greek tapas, making it an ideal spot for romantic evenings or special celebrations. Guests rave about the skillfully prepared dishes, such as cheese saganaki and lamb moussaka, which showcase subtle flavors and expert execution. The warm and attentive staff create a welcoming atmosphere that enhances your dining experience.
A well-spent Sunday afternoon at Alexious Restaurant ✨ The food was freshly made and home cooked. The staffs were very attentive and welcoming. We had beef kebab with some peppers corn sauce, chicken kebab, brown olives 🫒. Then, we had Cappuccino, baklava with vanilla ice cream, and lemon posset with raspberry on the top. We absolutely loved it!! It was a bit pricey but you get what you pay for! Unfortunately, they don’t open at Sunday night and are also closed on Monday! So, this is our last chance to be here. Definitely come back here if we’re back to Stow! 💗 Star rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Price: £££

Went for lunch with friends...decor, atmosphere, welcome all superb. Well spaced tables with hand sanitiser on each. Great music! Food was so delicious, can't wait to go again and try a different dish! Lovely friendly service, I'd definitely recommend it!

Wow wow wow! What an absolute find! Alexious was the perfect place for a special dinner for our anniversary whilst we were staying in Stow for the weekend. All the staff were friendly and attentive and very welcoming from the start The food was incredible! I had the cheese saganaki for my starter, followed by the lamb moussaka and a Greek salad. My partner also had cheese saganaki to start followed by the beef medallions. We both absolutely loved our food and you could tell everything was freshly made and home cooked. Would also like to give a shout-out to the waitress/bartender who made one of the best espresso martinis I’ve had! 🍸 It is quite pricey but that is only reflected in the quality and freshness of the food and the service, you get what you pay for and the price is more than justified. Thank you for a wonderful meal and night, will definitely be back when we are next in Stow!

The service is excellent. The food, however, is surely overpriced for what you’re getting. Tried a lot of items on the menu, most tasted bland, even the tsadziki.

Cotswold Sweet Company

Candy store
Cotswold Sweet Company is a charming shop known for its exceptional service and delightful candies. Customers have praised the shop for their special attention to detail, especially when fulfilling special requests like sending Christmas hampers. Visitors often mention the warm welcome they receive and the high quality of the handcrafted sweets and ice cream. The store's owner has recently expanded into making their own delicious ice cream in various flavors, which has been met with great enthusiasm.
I visited the Cotswold Sweet Company in Stow today, at the end of a trip to the area from Dubai. Stepping inside was like stepping inside a time machine to my childhood! A stunning array of boiled sweets (think rhubarb & custard, pear drops, pineapple chunks) combined with all of the great chewable varieties from way back when (fizzy cola bottles, midget gems, jelly tots - the list goes on)! The shopkeeper was unbelievably friendly, and very happily accommodated my request to buy a 6kg selection of 12 different sweets, so I could take them back with me for my kids in Dubai. A visit is a must!
Rob V — Google review
I was so impressed with my experience at Cotswold Sweet Company. Tried their home made Coffee & Cream and Maple Walnut ice-creams and they exceeded my expectation. You can tell there’s a lot of craftsmanship put in to their sweets. The ice cream was extremely high-quality and it felt very nostalgic. The walls were full of candy. It was hard to pick one. We decided on their extremely sour candy and the label doesn’t lie. It was very sour and very enjoyable.

So lucky to have passed by this amazing company to taste their homemade ice cream! We came for a day out, the weather was lovely and this beautiful little store topped it. I chose chocolate and raspberry... I have never had chocolate ice cream like this! It was luxury. We came last week on Saturday and so glad we did. The owner was super smart! Felt proud to be British. Please try the homemade ice cream, made by 4 people and so homegrown!

Lovely little shop and the lady behind the counter was friendly. We took home a bag of lemon and strawberry Bonbons. They took me right back to my childhood. My kids absolutely loved them!!
Harpreet S — Google review
We travel around the UK in our motorhome during the summer months and love sampling ice cream wherever we go, especially when it's advertised as award-winning or made with quality ingredients. We've tried many over the years—some great, some not so much—but this little shop truly stood out. The homemade ice cream here is, without doubt, the best we've ever tasted. Incredibly creamy, full of rich flavour, and clearly made with care. While they also offer a well-known premium brand, it's their own creations that are the real highlight. Plenty of places claim to have award-winning ice cream, but if anywhere genuinely deserves that recognition, it's this one. Absolutely outstanding—easily our favourite ice cream in the UK.
Mick S — Google review
The man behind the counter was very friendly. We popped in for a look around but left with two scoops each of the ice cream. You can immediately tell the quality and craftsmanship that goes into it. I had the white chocolate and coffee and both were delicious! Would highly recommend 😊

Jade Garden is an authentic Chinese takeaway located in the heart of the Cotswolds, specifically in Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire. It is considered one of the best Chinese restaurants in the area, offering a menu with a variety of dishes that have received positive reviews from visitors. The restaurant's ambiance and food quality make it a popular choice for both locals and tourists looking to enjoy Chinese cuisine while exploring the picturesque surroundings of Stow-on-the-Wold.
Very friendly service, good price. Food was great. Not greasy like some Chinese takeaways can be
Geordie A — Google review
We're staying in Moreton and this Chinese takeaway was the nearest one to us. The lady that served me was extremely polite, prices are fair and the food was really hot and took less than 10 minutes. The flavours just weren't quite as good as our normal local. It was still nice and that's the only reason I've had to drop a star. I would still recommend it and if we're travelling up to Moreton or Stow again, I would return to the takeaway.
John S — Google review
Ordered sweet and sour pork. Was like guey gunk! Never again I'm afraid. It's important that the restaurant realises that they can not serve this so called food up! I was thinking of taking it back and getting them to put the charge into their charity box! Maybe they should randomly taste what they are serving up. Good polite service but unfortunately inedible just like their food!
Tony W — Google review
We had this as a takeaway for dinner. The person behind the counter wasn’t rude, but also wasn’t particularly helpful when I asked a question about the menu. The food was ready quickly – I waited only around 10 minutes after placing the order. Unfortunately, the food itself wasn’t great. We ordered rice, mixed vegetables, and chicken satay. The satay sauce was decent, but there was less than a full chicken breast in the dish, and it was overwhelmed by peppers and onions. The mixed vegetables were mostly bok choy and podded peas, whereas we’d expected a broader mix including things like broccoli. In terms of price and speed, it was fine. But for enjoyment of the food, it was disappointing.
George B — Google review
This has little to recommend it, the food is ok but not especially tasty, the portions are not generous and it's not cheap enough to compensate. The chicken balls have a bread like quality to the too thick batter, the beef has been velveted but there was to much sinew. There is also no adjustments or flexibility in the menu
Chris — Google review
First time getting take out here and it was really delicious, lady at the front desk taking orders was nice and friendly, didn’t wait long for our food even though it was busy, will definitely be back 🙌

Upon entering the Tara Antique Centre To Present Day, one is greeted with an impressive array of antiques spanning multiple floors. The shop boasts a vast selection and offers reasonably priced items for enthusiasts to peruse. It is advisable to exercise caution when navigating the space, as it requires spatial awareness to avoid damaging any objects. The store also accommodates dog owners, adding to its welcoming atmosphere. Visitors are likely to stumble upon hidden treasures amidst the extensive collection.
Fantastic shop with endless rooms of so many different things... I'm not normally into antiques, but this place really is fun, we were lost in there for a lot longer than anticipated!
Mat ( — Google review
What some people might call hoarding, this shop manages to turn into a quirky and fantastical business. Multiple floors of every kind of collectible, knick-knack, antique, trinket, clothing item or tchotchke you could possibly imagine. I think it might take a full day to explore each floor to be able to really see everything that this place has on its shelves. I'll bet some folks who have made the time to really dig in have found some awesome treasures hiding amongst the myriad displays of goodies. If you're a normal-sized human, and not a hobbit, be prepared to duck through some of the smaller doorways and staircases. The photo I added kind of captures the whimsy of the place ... LOVED this side quest!
Dave R — Google review
Medium size antique centre over multiple floors. An assortment of vintage and modern antiques. Some clothes for sale on the top floor, but not vintage. Not the biggest of antiques emporium but plenty of see for an hour or less. No cafe, no lifts and no toilet facilities. Stow on the Wold is busy with visitors and there is free car parking in the centre.

Oh, if only I’d had more time, more money, and more room in my bags. What a wonderful little place. I found a pair of gold and amber earrings that demanded I purchase them and bring them home to Texas. I do believe there is something for everyone here.
Sara W — Google review
We wandered in on a whim, and found that there was a huge selection and fairly reasonable prices for the many antiques across their several floors and rooms. Note: I would avoid taking children in as you do need to be very spatially aware to not hit/break things.

Nestled at the top of Market Square in the Cotswolds, Fosse Gallery has been a prominent hub for contemporary British art since its establishment in 1980. Showcasing carefully selected exhibitions featuring emerging and established artists, this gallery is a must-visit for art enthusiasts. The owner, Sharon Wheaton, curates diverse displays throughout the year and warmly welcomes visitors to explore the original works on sale.
I visit the Fosse Gallery each time Sharon has an Exhibition or whenever I am visiting Stow-on-the-Wold. The Gallery is a gorgeous quiet haven to visit with the most wonderful, intimate atmosphere, always a warm welcome from Sharon and always the most amazing number of wonderful paintings for sale on the walls. I have bought many of the paintings by my favourite artists for my new cottage and they all look so good in their new home. It is extremely hard to come out of the Gallery without buying a painting! I could not recommend this Gallery more highly for a visit - please put on your list when next visiting Stow-on-the-Wold or even make that special journey to visit - you will not be disappointed.
Julia S — Google review
I have never been one who knows much about art, so walking into an art gallery was a new experience for me. But I need not have worried. Owner Sharon was both welcoming, fun and had as much time as I needed to show me and explain the original works for sale on her walls. She is a true enthusiast for promoting artists of all gendres. Since visiting, I've purchased a couple of paintings online from her website and they have arrived carefully wrapped. I love both the works I now own and appreciate them every day. Thank-you Sharon.

I try and visit the Fosse Gallery every time I am in Stow on the Wold. There is always a different exhibition on, be it solo show or mixed exhibition and I like the variety and love the painterly feel of the shows. Set in a beautiful, calm space, Sharon and her staff are always friendly and helpful but never pushy, and I like that. I have bought quite a few paintings from the Fosse Gallery over the years, the gallery website is informative and easy to use and when shipped to my home address the paintings arrive in perfect condition at no extra charge. Highly recommended.

Stocks only had one other party waiting to use. Good seating and shade under one big tree. The market square is a giant carpark. Very unattractive setting for a gorgeous village full of history. Footpaths are incomplete, narrow and uneven so not suitable for elderly or mobility challenged. Bus access is challenging due to the limited facilities.
A P — Google review
Stow has attracted people settling in the Cotswolds since the Iron Age. Early Cotswold settlers were drawn initially to the adjoining village of Maugersbury, but overtime the commercial success of Stow has seen the town establish itself as the pre-eminent town in the Cotswolds. Stow is located at the junction of six roads making it an important and natural meeting place of the Cotswolds. One of the renowned Cotswold routes meeting in Stow is the famous Roman road – The Fosse Way. The centre of Stow has a remarkably large and impressive market square. Markets have regularly taken place in Stow since 1107 when King Henry II granted a charter. Originally known as Edwardstow, the town was probably founded in the 11th century. The Square is a reminder of Stow on the Wold’s heritage as the Cotswold’s major sheep market. In one of his Cotswold travels writer Daniel Defoe once recorded that 20,000 sheep were sold during a single day. Another reminder of Stow’s past is the little alleys leading from the market square. These were intentionally built narrow and winding as a way to control and count sheep. Also in the square are the old penal stocks now a famous Cotswold landmark. History and hospitality is never far away in Stow. Stow is the location of the oldest inn in England with a history reaching as far back as 987AD. The Royalist Hotel dining lounge still has a medieval fireplace showing "witch's marks" which were meant to ward off spells. There is also a resident ghost or two, and rumours of a secret tunnel from the cellars, leading under the street. Stow has always catered for visitors and travellers. At one time it was said that just about every building on the square was either an Inn or sold refreshment. The tradition continues today with some of the best Cotswold Hotels, Inns and restaurants.

Red Rag Gallery is located near Market Square, just a short distance along Church Street. This gallery is surprisingly spacious, as it was formed by combining three cottages from the 17th century. Throughout the past two decades, it has established itself as a renowned dealer of contemporary art on an international level. The gallery specializes in representing British artists who are currently active and showcases a particular emphasis on artwork from Scotland.
When we arrived, they were exhibiting a number of Scottish artists. A unique and beautiful old building. Staff very friendly.

I visited the gallery recently and I wish I hadn't. I spoke with Dan, who is the owner of the gallery, and I was concerned with the gaps he had in his knowledge about the pieces of art he was trying to sell. If I had known earlier that there were gaps in his knowledge I could have done something about this and I would not have bothered to travel to his gallery. I cannot recommend this gallery to anyone.

Lovely English food and a cozy cottage restaurant. My partner and I ordered the Sunday roasts which were delicious. We especially liked the roast beef, the Yorkshire puddings, and the roast vegetables. The chicken breast was a little on the dry side, and it would’ve been nice to have gotten more gravy to pour ourselves. But otherwise would recommend this place, and the staff are wonderful and fast.

Deserts was just as good. Not over sweet, portion of sticky toffee pudding was generous but not so as to make you sick. A very good meal and service was excellent. Would highly recommend this place to anyone.

We stayed at the Stuart house which is a part of The Bell but is housed just up the road very close to the town square! We booked direct with them and they were very kind, patient and responsive to us and helped us book as per our requirements despite a couple of specifications from our end. We arrived late in the evening and they had our room ready as per requirements and it was genuinely the cutest room. All their rooms are themed and our room was ‘mole’ themed and the bathroom was very spacious as well. Their mini bar and snack selection is the best I have ever seen. We were also pleasantly surprised to find a hair straightener amongst the amenities. I would definitely stay with them again.

We had a lovely meal on a very busy Saturday night. Despite not booking a table the Bell went out of their way to help us and the food was testament to their dedication to good service. It was delicious and such a warm welcoming atmosphere to enjoy it in with our small dog.

We stopped in for Sunday Roast with no reservation. They were booked, but made it work. We had a great table looking onto the main street. We had the roast beef and the vegetarian meals. Both were excellent and large portions. Service was excellent and we did not feel rushed. A defiant must try.

We had dinner at The Bell, the food was 10/10, absolutely sensational and considering this was a pub it beats many restaurants out there too. The service was great, two young guys running the show amidst a very busy service. Such a cosy location, central and had everything we needed. Would highly recommend and will definitely return again. Our first time in the Cotswolds did not disappoint.

Lovely welcome, super dog friendly. Varied menu, all looked delicious- we had the chicken and the fish n chips. Fish n chips were huge! Lovely ambience- didn’t stay so can’t rate the rooms!
