Shopping mall
Shopping
Castle Quay Shopping Centre is a bustling indoor mall in Banbury, offering a wide range of mainstream shops, department stores, and dining options. Adjacent to the shopping center is the Castle Quay Waterfront, currently under construction and set to become a new leisure and restaurant destination with a cinema, supermarket, hotel, restaurants, and parking facilities. The shopping center itself features five floors of diverse shopping experiences along with an eight-screen cinema for entertainment.
This small mall doesn't have much to offer, as most of the shops are closed. I hope it will reopen someday. However, the takeaway food served at Lock29 makes up for it. You can eat delicious food here, and they also serve very good ice cream, which I highly recommend. On Saturdays, they organize live music with beer in hand.

Came here for a few minutes and I was taken aback! I had forgotten how real shopping centres looked like and this one reminded me exactly that. It’s got a lovely array of shops. There are also food courts, ideal for hanging out. I exceptionally loved the baby changing area. Thoughtful of them to add feeding booth and also to ask the front desk if you want to warm up a bottle. Superb!
Nana O — Google review
Very nice in the location but looks like most of the key shops have closed down so just about worth a visit .
Andre G — Google review
What happened to Banbury's soul? But the museum and Tooley's Boatyard are worth a visit, to remember better days.
Jo M — Google review
Once upon a time this was a lovely shopping centre with a real buzz but now many of the shops are closed and shuttered. OK if you want a phone as there are numerous phone shops and others selling phone cases and accessories. A fair few coffee places but they all sell exactly the same food...again ok if you like muffins. Boots is still there and Roman. It's such a shame as you also have to pay to park. The out of town shopping centres are free to park and have a great selection of shops like M&S etc. The only thing going for Castle Quay shopping centre now is Lock 29 where you will find a good selection of different food and delicious ice cream. I suppose it's a sign of the times and I cant see it changing any time soon.
Angela A — Google review
My god what has happened in Banbury the shopping centre literally has no shops! The only good thing to say about it lock 29 all the little stalls are really impressive and some of the food is delicious. Come on castle quay sort it out!!!!
Micheal H — Google review
It's a typical, failing, market town mall. A reasonable range of occasional need shops, but as many empty units. For me the high spot is Lock 29 with the constantly changing selection of street food. Mind the permenant "Independant" coffee shops, some are more dark and dank than an Austrian fetish dungeon, and overpriced for what they provide. And a Greggs.
Stephen R — Google review
Not much real shopping anymore as with many town centers, but the Lock29 is a nice spot for lunch

The Mill Arts Centre

Performing arts theater
The Mill Arts Centre is a vibrant cultural hub in Banbury, offering a diverse range of artistic and educational programs. It aims to inspire creativity and enrich the lives of local communities. The venue hosts engaging shows with talented performers, creating joyful experiences for the audience. The intimate theater provides excellent views of the stage from its raked seating. With modern interiors, pleasant seating areas, and friendly staff, it offers a welcoming atmosphere for visitors to enjoy performances by various artists and bands.
A wonderful little venue right next to the local canal in Banbury, with a super little bar area with seats and tables, along with elevated tiered seating arrangement inside the theatre, so you get to see the performers over the heads of the audience. It is a cosy ambient atmosphere as well. Highly recommend you buy your tickets in advance so as to pick your seats before they sell out as there are a limited number of seats available inside the theatre area.
Tony J — Google review
Small theatre in Banbury with a real charming Am Dram vibe - full bar and comfortable seats. Be aware that the front 3 rows of accessible seats aren't inclined at all so the view from row C can be poor.
Tim W — Google review
Lovely little venue for watching a show. Seating is well placed so that you have a decent view no matter where you sit. Sound system is good. Nice cafe/bar with hot and cold drinks. Friendly staff. Plenty of parking nearby (chargeable before 6pm).
Louise E — Google review
This was my first visit to the Mill. What a night it was! We saw a fantastic, high energy, highly engaging show with the most fantastic singers. The commitments/Blue's Brothers was a truly joyful evening, all the audience were smiling, singing and dancing. We left happy and thoroughly entertained. If you get a chance to see these musicians I would get tickets as soon as possible! The theatre itself was quite small but that made it even more special. There is a small bar and free parking after 6pm. Just note it was very warm inside. An absolute must visit for me again.
Tracey H — Google review
Very nice theatre, friendly staff and well stocked bar. Very reasonably priced tickets and impressive list of acts. Well worth a visit.
Roger M — Google review
Lovely venue with pleasant two seating areas one by the bar and one up a couple of steps. There is a ramp up to this raised area too. Staff were friendly and bar prices not too expensive. Modern interior with great artwork , bright and airy. The seating inside the venue is raked ensuring people have a good view I'd the stage. I attended the venue to see a brilliant band the Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican who played to a packed out, enthusiastic audience. A great evening. Thanks to all the staff and the band.
Lin H — Google review
Great venue that manages to draw acts large and small of all sorts of genres, whilst remaining a level of intimacy between the act and audience. Also is accessible to all.

Great day out at the boat festival. Loads of shops and plenty of places to eat. It's our 5th visit for a weekend away. Love this place.

A great place with lots going on and food was great. A great addition to what is basically a dead shopping mall with lots of closed and empty spaces.

Went here with my friend as he wanted Pasta. Interesting place lots to look at in the food court part. We went to have the Pasta. It's freshly made all day yummy. I had the Lasagne and he had a Tagliatelle. I'll be back . And the owner gave me a free cake.

I really like Lock 29 because it makes grabbing food on the go easy with great variety on offer. There is decent open seating to enjoy your food and a Bar if you fancy a pint.

This place is perfect for a sit down to munch on your takeaways, toilets near by and in the shopping centre itself

Eclectic range of eat street pop ups, pizza, Mexican food, curries, bakery goods, plants, pottery and handmade Dorset fudge. You select, pay and sit down at the wooden canteen tables or move through to the canalside deck chairs. There are public toilets around the corner in the quay shopping centre. The tap bar in the corner of Lock 29 has a lovely retro snug seating area that so reminds me of the 70s. The oak wooden nesting tables go back even farther than that.

Historical landmark
The Banbury Cross is a significant statue that was built in 1859 to honor the marriage of Queen Victoria's firstborn child. This prominent landmark has stood the test of time and serves as a reminder of an important event in British history. The notable structure is located in Banbury, England and attracts visitors from all over the world who come to appreciate its historical significance.
Interesting bit of history here. Wonderful detailed statue of the fine lady on her horse, and now I know the whole story behind the rhyme my grandmother in the US used to recite about Banbury Cross! The tower itself is very impressive, although you have to run through traffic to actually get to the middle of the roundabout where it's located today. I doubt they needed roundabouts when it was initially put up. Well worth a visit, and surrounded by more history as well as a charming high street strewn with markets, shops, cafes, and offices.
Bill R — Google review
Nice area of town with the cross and the lady on a white horse bronze.
Susanne P — Google review
The bronze statue of the fine lady is brilliant. We enjoyed trying to find the frog. Great town to stroll around too especially if you find the canal locks just through the shopping centre.

Another great feature of the Banbury Cross Landmark is its accessibility. It's located right in the center of town, which makes it easy to find and get to. There's plenty of parking available nearby, and it's just a short walk from the train station. Overall, the Banbury Cross Landmark is a delightful spot that is definitely worth a visit if you're in the Banbury area. It's a great way to get a feel for the town's rich cultural heritage and to enjoy the warm and inviting atmosphere that the locals are known for. Very dissapointed went on Market Day Market only had about six stalls, the indoor shopping centre was also dissapointing loads of shops closed down apparently all moved out to a new Retail Park , loads of pubs shut very few cafe/coffee shops definitely would not recommend visiting Banbury Cross the only good thing was the famous statue

Sad monument relegated to a small traffic island swamped by vehicles. Probably was a lovely town when the centre wasn't dominated by cars.

Coffee shop
Bakers + Baristas is a cozy coffee shop nestled within a shopping center, perfect for those looking to grab a quick bite or enjoy a leisurely moment. While the espresso and cappuccino are commendable, and the muffins are particularly delightful—fluffy and fresh—the overall ambiance leaves something to be desired. The decor feels somewhat worn, with some areas needing attention. Service can be hit or miss; while there have been instances of friendly interactions, it often lacks warmth.
I came in today and was delighted by the wonderful service. The staff was extremely polite and made my day better. I ordered the bacon bap and it was delicious. I will definitely be coming again! However, the only downside is the decor. It is not pleasant to the eye and the floor is falling apart which lets everything down. Overall my experience was wonderful but this needs improving.
Michal B — Google review
No warm welcome, I was alone at the counter for a good few minutes before being acknowledged by the lady (not) serving. Jacket potato served with a dollop of tuna mayo, no salad or garnish. Coffee ok. Food ok. Whole experience overpriced when you compare to what's available a stones throw away.
Bee E — Google review
Nice little coffee shop within a shopping center near the middle of town. Decent espresso, good cappuccino and a wide selection of sandwiches and sweet foods. Staff were very pleasant for how early we stopped by. Great place for a quick bite or to sit and linger a while.
Angelo S — Google review
Today cappuccino wasn't good and this girl who made it and served me, wasn't on good mood or something else was wrong. Wee smile would make lot of difference. Yes, I know you are busy, but still you should be nice to customers. So, I might go some where else next time 🤷‍♀️
Teija M — Google review
Places like this are just a bit meh. Two staff, one a bit surly, the other friendly and jolly. Food (salmon bagel & almond croissant) was good, no complaints there, but it's a bland and sterile place with no atmosphere.
Chilled D — Google review
On the outside it looks ok. I came in ordered a coffee, which was made very quickly. Tastes as good as any other high street non huge company coffee shop. However once I moved to a seat, (of which there are quite a few) the floor is covered in food, and the floor out of the main walking areas hasn't been cleaned in a while. The front elevation windows looking out to the square are rotten and in need of some serious TLC. That all said, it has a nice feel, good light coming in from the double bay windows, plenty of room if you have a wheelchair or pushchair to move around. I would come back
Chris H — Google review
The muffin was fluffy, light, tasty and fresh. Good coffee. Nice to sit outside and watch the world go by.
Bryan A — Google review
3 times I can recount I have ordered soya milk in my latte and twice I've seen the lady get the cows milk and had to remind her i had ordered soya, on the on the 3rd occasion I got distracted and didnt watch it being prepared and ended up in severe discomfort as she had obviously used cows milk. This is absolutely not good enough! Some people are seriously allergic and with a recent death of a young girl in a similar establishment I'm surprised how lapse this place is when a cows milk alternative is ordered. Unfortunately with my job I don't get to choose where I go for coffee otherwise this place would be the last on my list. Staff member responsible is also unfriendly and unwelcoming. Having said all of that there Is nice friendly lady that also works there and does get the orders right.

This is such a lovely spot. Clean, welcoming and delicious. We had lemon and herb chicken wings as well as calamari to start, both well cooked and nicely seasoned. Then the Goat cheese salad, best salad dish I've had for a long time! To top it off we had a fab waitress Luciana. She had lovely gentle banter, remembered particular points from our ordering and asked us if we wanted simular again, she would check in on us but not too often. The lady had great skills. Thank you team for a very enjoyable meal.

Myself, wife and child decided to pop in here after a visit to the town centre. The atmosphere was good and the food was great. We were served by Sophie, who also had to tend to a children's party of 15+ on the same day. The portions are generous, and the staff is friendly. One can customize the fillings and sauces to their taste, making it a hidden gem. The menu offers a nice selection of Lebanese/Mediterranean food, with high-quality ingredients. Chicken shawarma and fried halloumi are particularly delicious.

Couldn't have been happier with not just the food (which was-and is- delicious) but with the service too. The Deliveroo rider missed collecting a part of our order and when I called the restaurant to let them know it had been missed I didnt even need to explain what had happened. They apologised profusely and sent another driver with the rest of our order and some more yummy baklava immediately. We will definitely be ordering again, and ordering from their website directly next time! Thanks for a beautiful dinner! The wraps were wonderful but the sausages were amazing and well worth the wait!

This place is amazing. Years ago, I had a good friend who ran a Lebanese restaurant, and I ate there all the time. This is the first place I've found since he closed that's been on par with that place. The shawarma is perfectly spiced, slightly hot and wonderfully balanced. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Real shame we've had to post a bad review as the food previously was very good. Unfortunately we placed an order a week ago to then receive a call saying they didn't have everything. We asked to cancel the order and have a refund which they agreed too. After numerous calls and emails 1 week later we still haven't got the money back. We have been given mobile numbers to call which aren't able to receive calls and told the restaurant can't do the refund and its not their fault as they didn't accept the order. All sounds very dodgy to me.... They can take the money but can't refund it back to my card!!

Walked past this place so many times but finally entered to grab a quick bite to eat Location ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ At the top of Town with a good amount of parking right outside. Very easy to get to! Interior ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Probably not everyone's taste but the rather strange vibe of semi naked artwork, greek/roman statues and the gorgeous high ceilings with domes just worked for me. The place was also very clean and tidy. Service ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ The guy doing the serving was very polite, happy to explain the menu and brought the food quickly. We did have to grab his attention in order to pay, but he was happy to split the bill for us and overall was a very friendly chap. Food ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Again I was pleased with the food we had. Let's not pretend it was gourmet or anything but it was a solid eat, Seasoned well and presented sensibly. Overall no complaints on what we got for what we paid. Price ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ At around £10 a plate we thought it was pretty good value. £3 for a pint of coke or carling is also pretty good. Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 for all areas in my opinion. This place is not somewhere I would say is unbelievable but I would say it beat all my expectations based on first impressions so I will be back for more in the future!

A generous 2 stars, the single cask ale is off, honestly, why do pubs like this bother serving cask, if it's not available, or you don't have enough custom to justify having it on the bar? Chose half an Estrella instead, £2.80, yet the pint is proudly displayed for £4.95, why am I paying a premium for having a smaller measure? I suspect you think nobody will notice, I'll keep calling out pubs who rip off their customers. The place has so much potential, but fails to capitalise on the beautiful building it occupies.

Day 2

East side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the east side side of town. Start the day off with Banbury Gateway Shopping Park, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Waterfowl Sanctuary & Childrens Farm. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

This shopping mall, Banbury Gateway Shopping Park, is highly praised for its attractive and modern food area located on the ground floor. With a multi-storey car park nearby and situated right by the canal, this place has seen significant improvements in recent years and exudes a trendy vibe. The steps and walkway across the canal add to its charm. Mark's, a popular store within the mall, offers a variety of basic yet high-quality men's clothing options at affordable prices.
This shopping centre area is fairly modern and offers a good selection of shops (TkMax, Next, M&S, Primark, etc) and reasonable parking. There are also charging spaces for electric cars.

This place has dark patterns for the parking... we stayed there while doing shopping and got a traffic ticked because although the parking does not have any restriction there's only a sign at the entrance saying that (which is really easy to miss, just search the web, many negative reviews because of their dark patterns on the parking). I cannot recommend this place due to the dark patterns they use to extract money from people! They could easily put additional signs and make it clearer or have some control, but they definitely do it in a way to attract as little attention as possible to extract money from people.

I like the retail park it's the parking system that is a huge problem. I'm disabled and my daughter and I went here to do our Christmas shopping. Because I'm unwell I get chronically fatigued and we had to spread out the hours we were there so we did lunch and and I rested then we shopped and then I rested again. We make a day of it and we love it however not long after our visit I got a letter and a fine for staying longer than the said amount of hours. I had absolutely no idea this place had become a timed area of parking run by a independent company. I was fuming especially being a blue badge holder as well. I contacted them and explained everything and they did let me off the fine. Going to the Banbury Gateway used to be a very relaxing day which we looked forward to but not anymore. I can't do my shopping on a timer and it has totally put me off using the place I think these companies are greedy and waiting for human error to fine.

This place STINKS. Literally! I’m not sure what it is, but every time I’ve visited there has been a horrendous cat food-like smell hanging in the air. Almost like rotten chicken! Today, a warm day, the smell was to the point that I couldn’t leave my car without gagging. I’ll avoid this shopping centre at all costs purely because of this horrid smell
Cameron W — Google review
Absolutely maddening trying to find a parking space here at the weekends. The car park needs to be twice the size it is. The shops should move back to the centre of Banbury. Always plenty of parking there.

Great place to shop. Parking can be limited but if you get there early enough it's not an issue.

Spiceball Country Park, the largest park in Banbury, offers a variety of activities for visitors. The park features a fenced play area and an impressive skate park, as well as a cycling track and activity trail. With the River Cherwell running through it, the park also boasts scattered woodlands with climbable tree trunks. Additionally, it is home to Banbury's Parkrun group who meet every Saturday morning for a 5k run along its paths and trails.
Beautiful park in all seasons... Concrete paths with opportunities to wander under the trees or relax in the open fields.

Great town park. Lots of green space and places to relax or exercise. There is a weekly parkrun here on Saturday mornings at 9am. A wildlife conservation area is set up around the river and a volunteer group meet regularly to work on projects. Parking is possible near the town and at the far end near the reservoir (free). There are some small football goals for younger children. A trail runs around the edge of the park which is partly paved and suitable for walking or cycling and is suitable for wheelchairs or prams. A canal runs alongside the park and makes an alternative walk.
Gareth O — Google review
The park is very large because it consists of two sections. The first section contains attractions such as a playground for children, a skate park (which I recommend because it's well-maintained and free of any damage), and a recreation area with BBQ stands with built-in trash cans and benches right next to it. The second section of the park features a small pitch with two soccer goals and a patch of meadow where you can relax. 😀

Specialty Museums
The Banbury Museum and Gallery is a small but informative museum with displays of history from Banbury's past. The exhibits include sections on the Civil War, the Oxford Canal and the adjacent Tooley's Boatyard. The gallery hosts exhibitions of local photography by young entrants. All items displayed with historical data and beautifully displayed.
Wonderful museum showcasing the birth and the ongoing life of Banbury. A small town with a big history wrapped around a 1st floor room in the museum. Follow the numbers on the floor to walk through the ages, read about the people and their lives. Treat your eyes to the wonder of artefacts like the stunning blue water dress, the pikemans armour, lift a canon ball and my favourite the stunning jewel encrusted silver sword shining at the end of the walk round the room. It was said about the extreme puritan protestant Christian that he would hang a cat on Monday for killing a mouse on Sunday. Pay to enter gallery on the ground floor. £5 adults, £2 kids? Museum cafe downstairs. Walkway over the canal leading to the museum shop and the shopping centre. Now to go there with the kids and show them a possibly possesd toy doll. ;)

We've been going into Banbury for years but have only been to the actual museum a couple of times. We've not been disappointed yet. We have loved the exhibition they had last year with the interactive art. This was fabulous. The current Dinosaurs exhibition is marvellous. Make sure to download the "Dinosaur 4D+" app before you go and have a fully charged device as there are some super AI interactive bits in the gallery. A good use for it! Also has some dinosaur toys your child can play with, like dress up. There's always a themed trail for children to do upstairs in the permanent part of the gallery too. It's a great trip out and totally affordable to go more than once if you've enjoyed a specific exhibition. The staff are all really friendly and helpful. The shop has lots of great giftware and creative art pieces. Also a great hub for what's in leaflets for the area if you're visiting and want to do something new.

The Banbury Museum & Gallery is a must-visit destination, offering a wealth of attractions. It provides a diverse range of experiences and ample entertainment for children. If you're in the mood for a coffee and cake, there's a fantastic vegan cafe downstairs. Additionally, the on-site shop features exquisite trinkets available for purchase. Notably, all products are locally sourced and crafted by talented individuals and businesses from the area. Personally, I find great joy in volunteering at the gallery on Saturdays—it's a truly rewarding experience.

The main museum is very well set out with lots of interesting artifacts and information. Free admission so well worth a look. We also went to the Robot exhibition which was £5 entry. Quite small but lots of great items and is worth the money if your interested enough to spend time reading the information. Lovely modern building inside a large shopping centre with views of the canal. Unfortunately the cafe was closed so we couldn't visit for food or drinks. Maybe next time.
Laura H — Google review
A very informative and well-done museum providing interesting facts and entertaining information about Banbury and the surrounding Cherwell Valley areas. I learned a great deal more about the everyday life, the struggles and the achievements of the locals. Understood a bit more about the famous cross, the canal, the cake and the cheese and how the town has been developed into a centre of excellence for the food and motorsports industries. Admission is free. After inspecting all the exhibits, do end your visit by having the afternoon tea by the canal. From there you can see how the one-sided hinged wooden bridge is being operated manually to allow boats passing through - a rather unique scene probably only found in the Oxford Canal.

People's Park, spanning over 3 acres since 1897, is a well-maintained and pleasant park with vibrant and thoughtfully planted flower beds. The park houses a war memorial in remembrance of those who sacrificed their lives during WW1 & WW2. Additionally, visitors can enjoy the children's play area and aviary which attracts people of all ages. Ample seating arrangements are available throughout the park where visitors can relax and soak in the atmosphere.
Great place to get mugged for peanuts ! Look out for friendly squirrels, and also robins apparently (hearsay). Trees are gorgeous, kids' games and adults' fitness equipment in good shape - a great family walk all year round.

Excellent park, we spent 5 hours there yesterday (Sunday) having a family picnic. The family came from Nottinghamshire, Berkshire, Cambridgeshire, Birmingham, Hampshire etc so this was the park in the “middle” of us all travel wise. The park was clean, well kept with toilets too. These were extremely up to date, clean & soap & dryers were available too. It was a shame the cafe was closed but we popped to the nearby Church House cafe for coffee’s. The trees offered us plenty of shelter in the heavy downpours but the children loved it when the sun cane out and they could play cricket, football & use the basketball nets. Thank you Banbury Council for an excellent park, we left no litter & it was good to see the CCTV cameras were around to keep people safe. We would definitely return. Parking was ok in surrounding streets as the park car park was full all day.

People’s Park, situated in the middle of the town. There are really nice features in the park. Formal flower beds, a community garden, a park for children, tennis courts, fixed exercise equipment, some sculptures an Avairy with various colourful birds like budgies and cockatoo’s. There is also a War Memorial in remembrance of the Second World War. There was also a little mobile van selling posh coffees and snacks. Easy to walk around, plenty to do and a direct route into town.

The sanctuary is surprisingly spacious and offers guided tours for school parties and play groups. Visitors can enjoy fussing and feeding the well-cared-for animals while learning about the sanctuary's history from the friendly owner.
Amazing local attraction, give it a go! We decided on a whim to try it as we live local and were genuinely so happy we went. So many rabbits, and guinea pigs for the children to handle with no limit on times. The staff there are lovely (Rodney is a gent, very knowledgeable and you can just tell the animals come before all!) and a really pleasant visit and atmosphere. Make sure you take some wellies as can be quite muddy - we can't wait to go back!

We had such a lovely morning here. Our daughter especially loved holding and stroking baby animals and fluffy bunnies. The owners gave us a friendly welcome and were happy to tell us about the animals. We could take our time, no being rushed or queuing unlike bigger places. The play area near the goats and llamas was nice, and it was fun having a bucket of food for the animals. Some areas are empty now but there are beautiful wild flowers making it enjoyable to walk around. Sweet hand knitted toys at the till. Thank you! We look forward to visiting again. 😊 Note: bring cash for entrance and optional feed. There are toilets plus places to wash hands or use hand sanitiser if you are bringing snacks.

We loved this little place, totally unexpected and quirky. All the birds and animals were so friendly and extremely well looked after. This place is such a hidden gem. It has such a relaxed, wholesome environment. The little 'nature walk' is so peaceful. Absolutely love it! At £5 a head, it's extremely reasonable. Rodney & Mabel are so dedicated to their work and animals. We always have such a lovely time!

Very sweet place to go with children who want to experience holding the rabbits/chicks/guinea pigs without the commercial rides often associated with these places. The owner and his wife were very friendly and so patient-my 2 kids were able to hold various animals and there was no rush. Very kind and my kids loved the experience and wanted to take home a couple of bunnies!!

Lovely little farm, fairly cheap aswell, nice people, worth a visit. As soon as we went (once paid £5 each and £1 fpr a small bucket of animal food) the man let us hold baby bunnies in little blankets....sooo cute and fluffy and my son held a. Chicken and guinea pig....then walked around lots of chickens/Cockerell a few benches for picnics and the play area was decent....they had little piggies, goats, ostrichs, llamas, and if u walk up to the top of the hill and round there's a donkey and a lovely walk through the forest area. Also there's an I door part with ducks and bunnies and things...and an old tractor to play/sit on. We really enjoyed. Also we saw a charity tractor run as we left it was great 👍

Absolutely wonderful place! The owners are lovely and friendly. It's not a huge commercial farm park but that's why we loved our visit. We could walk round all the animals more than once, play on the play equipment, have a picnic, feed the animals and have a cuddle with the smaller ones 😍 we never felt rushed and we didn't have to queue for anything. We visited in the summer holidays and took our 4 year old, 7 year old and nanny came too! It was a great family day out enjoyed by everyone! We will definitely be visiting again 😁

We had a great time here today (kids are 8 and 4) a really authentic farm with lots of cute animals to stroke. Sure it needs a bit of TLC but the kids don't notice any of that. They ran around having a great time seeing the animals and feeding the chickens. Rodney and Mabel were both great with them as well. Especially Rodney, he had great patience when my 4 year old wanted to swap which animal she was holding every couple of minutes! For £5 each you can't go wrong. I even managed to leave with some freshly laid eggs and knitted bunnies made by Mabel behind the counter. Will definitely return soon

Nestled in a charming 17th-century building, The Cromwell Lodge offers a delightful blend of traditional elegance and modern comfort. Although I didn't stay overnight, my visit was truly memorable thanks to the warm and professional staff who greeted me with genuine hospitality. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a period drama, evoking images from shows like Bridgerton with its refined interiors and attention to detail. Each corner exudes authenticity, making it feel like stepping back in time while enjoying contemporary amenities.
While I didn't stay overnight at the Cromwell Lodge Hotel, my visit left a lasting and thoroughly positive impression, and I can confidently say I was well and truly satisfied. The experience began with the fantastic staff—an impeccably professional and friendly team who made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. Their attentive service created a wonderful atmosphere that was both relaxed and efficient. The food was a true highlight of my visit. The kitchen clearly operates to a high standard; every dish was well-presented and, crucially, served piping hot. It’s a small detail, but one that speaks volumes about the care and quality put into each meal. Beyond the excellent service and food, the hotel's public areas were a delight. The space was very clean and tidy, with inviting furnishings that made for a comfortable and pleasant environment. It's clear the hotel takes great pride in its appearance, creating a welcoming backdrop for any occasion. Given the quality of the service and the beautiful public spaces, it's easy to see why the Cromwell Lodge Hotel is a popular choice for events. I am certain they could expertly cater for wedding receptions and any other large gatherings, ensuring a high-quality experience for all guests. While I can't speak to the accommodations, my experience with the staff, food, and public areas was outstanding, making it a place I would happily recommend.

This is an incredible hotel. The building dates back to the 17th century. High ceilings, creaky floors and beautiful architecture. That would be enough but add in a team that are so friendly and helpful, why wouldn't you say. A special mention to Tim the breakfast waiter so happy, helpful and polite, a credit to the team. Food was great and good portions. Breakfast was good too. We will definitely be returning.

Excellent Sunday lunch. The roasts were accompanied by a good variety of vegetables as well as roasties and (really tall!) Yorkshires. The sticky toffee pudding was also delicious 😋. We had to wait a while between courses, but the two young children in our family group were well catered for. They were served as priority. Thanks, all the staff.

Had my wedding reception here on 21st June, the whole experience from booking to the actual date was fantastic. I dealt with Lizzie and Jade but all the staff are great. Lizzie and Jade decorated the marquee lovely for us we asked them to just make it pretty for us and they didn't disappoint. The buffet food was delicious and lots of people said how nice it was, and they also catered for members of the party that had dietary needs. It was the hottest day of the year so they had ice cold water available for all. The rooms were lovely and the bed was very comfortable, and breakfast was again delicious. Would definitely recommend.

If you’d like to travel back in time and experience true English elegance, I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. The interiors, the refined details, and the entire atmosphere make you feel like you've stepped into a period drama – Bridgerton immediately came to mind. It’s a genuine time-travel experience where the elegance of the past meets the comfort of the present. Authentic ambiance, spotless cleanliness – every little detail was just perfect. And the breakfast… absolutely royal! One of the best I’ve ever had in my life.

Lovely old pub with rooms. Staff very helpful & attentive with a lovely greeting from the young lady at reception. Stayed in room 20 on the 3rd floor which was lovely & beautifully cleaned by Wendy. Bit of a trek up the 3 flights of stairs if you have mobility issues. Fantastic power shower though. Lots of noise as facing the road but no issue to us as we live in greater London, so used to it. Lovely breakfast served by friendly staff member Nicky. Will visit again.

Super hotel in the centre of Banbury with a small car park at the back, which is free for hotel residents. We received a lovely warm welcome for our one night stay. It's a wonderful old building on many levels: so watch your step! Some aspects of the building are a bit tired but it's beautifully clean and, without exception, the service is really good. Everything is done with a smile. Our room was a good size and the bed was most comfortable. The shower cubicle had seen better days but the fairly old shower unit was incredibly robust and much more effective than more modern showers we have used elsewhere. The food was very good and reasonably priced, we had an early supper ahead of a music gig which was the reason we were in Banbury. Breakfast was included in the room rate and freshly cooked to order, it was all excellent and again the service provided by the friendly team was super. We enjoyed a couple of hours with drinks in the sunny garden at the back of the building when we arrived - an excellent start to our stay. Thank you Team Cromwell Lodge, should we find ourselves needing accommodation in Banbury again in the future we'll definitely choose to stay at this hotel.

Absolutely Awful. Placed an order, the lady on the phone was new so I respected that and allowed extra time, I asked her to repeat the order and she had wrote it exactly as I expected. I was told the price was £21 The order arrived, the price being asked at the door was £25, The order itself was wrong, missing fries, missing cheese and just terrible. Tried calling back and no one answered. Just avoid this place, it was good whilst it lasted but the time is up for this kebab place. Shocking service.

Words can't tell you how disappointed I am. Ordered food on Saturday night, took two hours to be delivered, no problem I understand they were busy. However food was missing from the order when delivered, I called and asked them to return my money for the missing food and three days later they still haven't. They have until Friday to pay up or then we'll see how clever they are. I can tolerate poor service, but I can't abide having my money taken.

The BEST Kebab house in Banbury, Brackley and Bicester (because they run the one in the market place there too!) Forget Royal Kebab, Master Kebab and all the other ones in Banbury - these guys have been serving up the best kebabs for over 25 years. Pro tip - large chicken shish with their homemade chilli sauce. Get on it!

World’s stingiest staff! They put 80% fries, 15% salad, 5% kebab. I will never buy from here. Not worth the time and money. If you have noticed, they don’t have a menu, they change their price every week. I’m so disappointed with them. Worst experience.

One customer praised the pleasant ambiance and courteous staff of Miller & Carter Banbury after their enjoyable lunch with their daughter. They described the food as delightful and considered this location to be one of the best in the Miller & Carter franchise. Another diner raved about the Chipotle chicken starter, describing it as fantastic, and praised the beef dripping sauce as out-of-this-world.
I had a fantastic experience at Miller & Carter in Banbury. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, but what really stood out was the service. Natasha was absolutely outstanding friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel special throughout the meal. It’s rare to come across service like that, and it made the evening even more enjoyable. I’ll definitely be recommending this place to others and can’t wait to come back again soon. Thank you, Natasha, for making our visit so memorable!

Both the atmosphere and the food were great. Mentioned that we were celebrating GCSE results and when our desserts arrived, our server Natasha brought out an extra one with a little chocolate square saying ‘congratulations’! We weren’t expecting it at all so it was amazing. Great place, definitely recommend

We stopped by for a spontaneous dinner on Father’s Day without a reservation. Despite it being a busy Sunday, the kind lady at reception quickly found us a table, which we really appreciated as we were just passing through and didn’t plan to stay long. Our waiter was very polite, attentive, and friendly – overall, the service was excellent and made us feel very welcome. The food, as always, was outstanding. The steak was absolutely perfect – juicy, cooked exactly to order, and served with great sides. We’ve visited this restaurant multiple times, and the quality is consistently high. Highly recommend visiting – there’s something on the menu for everyone. Great atmosphere, thoughtful staff, and top-notch food.

Popped in for a late lunch with Mum on Tuesday. We have been here several times so know how good the food is. We decided to have the 2 course set menu at £17.95 pp. We both went with steak for main followed by a dessert. There is an extra supplement to pay when having steak which some people might find a bit expensive. The steaks were cooked to perfection and everything tasted delicious. The restaurant was quiet at the time we were there so service was very quick. We were served by Eleanor who was very polite, happy and helpful. If you like steak then I would recommend Miller & Carter.
Teresa E — Google review
We had the 3 course menu and it really delivered. We had the chicken and the calamari to start. The steak was well cooked and the sauces and lettuce wedge great additions. Then the sticky toffee pudding was the best dessert by far! The staff were really attentive.
Kirsty W — Google review
Our first Miller &Carter experience and definitely will not be the last. Amazing steaks. Best we've ever had! Our server Daria was first class and looked after us so well thoroughly enjoyed it
Pauline C — Google review
I had the pan roasted lamb rump and it was perfect. Lamb was very tender. The potato dauphinoise was also perfect. A nice crisp with creamy, fluffy potato inside. The vegetables were perfect and the red wine sauce was perfect. I had the wings to start which were good but not great. A little dry. The service was acceptable but the cheque took a long time to come at the end of the meal. The meal was good value but if you want the best bang for your buck, the burgers are fantastic. The place was very quiet but it was 7pm on a Monday. Would go again.

Nestled in the charming town of Banbury, The Three Pigeons Inn is a beautifully modernized 17th-century coaching inn that perfectly blends historical charm with contemporary comforts. This inviting pub features a delightful patio garden and offers a British menu that caters to diverse tastes. With three well-appointed guest rooms, it provides an ideal retreat for travelers seeking both relaxation and local flavor.
Love this pub. Moved to Banbury 6 years ago, but haven't really given this place much thought. It's definitely a locals pub, but they're all incredibly friendly and great with my 2 very loud children. Great beer selection and the changing food vans outside is a great idea.

Stayed the night at the Three Pigeons and was very happy with our stay. The room was very nicely decorated with tea making facilities and a TV. Had a peaceful nights sleep in a comfortable bed. Price was very reasonable and would book again. Town centre was a 10 minute walk away.

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Buckinghamshire Railway Centre. Not quite as popular as Banbury Museum & Gallery, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Nestled in the picturesque Buckinghamshire countryside, the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre is a delightful destination for train enthusiasts of all ages. Spanning 25 acres, this charming site features an impressive array of vintage steam and diesel locomotives dating back to the 19th century, all set against the backdrop of a beautifully recreated Victorian station. Families can enjoy rides on a miniature railway that winds through wooded areas and even includes a tunnel!
It was Father’s Day when we visited and my husband was in second heaven. He didn’t want to leave. Lots to see in the train museum, book shop and on the platform there was a historic bike display. Good food and a chance to go on a short ride on Thomas the Tank engine. What more could a train enthusiast need?
Wendy R — Google review
Visited to see Wightwick Hall running on the Steam weekend. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Lots of engines to see around the site. Visited the museum, lots to see in there. Had a ride on the miniature railway. The cafe was very nice for lunch. Had a very enjoyable day here and well worth the drive from Sussex.
Kerry B — Google review
Where do I start, First of all the day out is worth every penny, the staff and everyone were super friendly. We enjoyed a Thomas and Friends day here where we got to ride on 2 different steam trains (Thomas and Percy) and enjoy all Thomas activities from dancing shows to craft activities. The model train rides were also great fun and the kids had a blast. There is also a very reasonable priced cafe in the main centre with loads of train related toys for the kids to keep them busy. There even was a steam tractor-trailer ride which the kids loved. Will definitely be back again in the near future, Thanks Bucks Railway Centre
Joe I — Google review
A fantastic museum, run and looked after by very friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and interesting volunteers. The full site is sizeable, with a huge amount of exhibits both inside and outside. For the best experience a visit on one of the steaming days is highly recommended, but the café and shop are open most days and are a delight in themselves.
Johnny S — Google review
Fantastic day out, great value for money. Museum opens at 1030 and first train departs at 11am. Steam train ride lasts around 17minutes but you can do it as many times as you like. Museum well laid out and informative. Cafe reasonably priced £6 for 2 hot drinks, £5 for two ice creams.
Rachel W — Google review
We have been coming to the Railway centre for many years and have watched it get better and better. It is a must for any transport enthusiasts and especially train fans of course. Lots to see and do for all ages. Loads of historic info for adults and older children and plenty to do for little ones as well. Miniature train rides are a great addition. Plenty of food and drink on offer especially on event days. We came back for Auto Fest which was a classic vehicle event. Loads of interesting cars and vehicles attended and there was Live music and morris dancers. Great day out for families and people who like nostalgic days out.

Without a doubt one , if not, the best wedding venue I've ever been too. Amazing location and truly amazing staff. Made all the better surrounded by friends.

Great museum with lots to see. Little train running today so wonderful little ride for the kids. Large steam train running too so nice little run back and forth in the line. Plenty of information to help you along the way. Well worth a visit.

Massive store with everything you could want (and more)! Small lift to take you up a level but no customer toilets. Friendly staff and reasonable prices.

The store is great and always stocked well. Some staff require a little more training on manners. On several occasions now I've been into the store and whilst being served, that member of staff has taken so long to scan my shopping because she's been having a conversation with another member of staff and neither have acknowledged me waiting for the rest of my shopping to e scanner.

Great when it first opened but has gone down hill a bit mainly staff issues can have long queues when busy. Good garden centre but not as well kept as the one in Towcester

Sulgrave Manor is a Tudor house with rich history, showcasing formal gardens and an estate. Guided tours used to be available, but are no longer offered. The gift shop could benefit from highlighting the shared history between the UK and USA. Despite this, a visit to Sulgrave Manor is well worth it as its gardens are beautiful and the historical connection between Washington and the USA is fascinating. Visitors can learn a lot about this history from knowledgeable guides.
A great little place to visit in Sulgrave. Once the home George Washington"s family. If you are interested there is also the remains of a castle in the village.
Stephen M — Google review
Beautiful gardens. Interesting building and look at the history of George Washington's ancestors.
Bob D — Google review
Great staff and very engaging talk for the family and house history, lovely flowers and fruit garden too. Quite a lot to be seen and learnt about Jorge Washington roots. A little play are too
Mariya S — Google review
A nice place to familiarize yourself with the history of the Washington family and their background. Lovingly furnished house and museum, also educationally valuable for children. Fantastic friendly and helpful staff who are happy to provide information about the house and its exhibits if you have any questions. Reasonable price-performance ratio. Thank you.😀👍
Sven H — Google review
Excellent place to visit. Original ancestral home of George Washington so jointly maintained by UK and US supporters. Very knowledgeable guides and good explanations of the history of the house and that of Washington. Serves drinks and cake but not meals. Do check opening times.
Brian P — Google review
A pleasant enough place, enthusiastic staff. George Washington never came UK. Contrary to book there is no cafe. Just a tea machine and some cake. The Forge nearby is great for a light lunch.
Ron D — Google review
Not as busy as we anticipated, the ancestral home of the family of George Washington (the first president of the United States of America) offered insights into his family and upbringing leading him taking one of the most famous roles in the world. The house felt fresh and well cared for, the grounds were very neat and tidy. There are hot drinks and cakes/ices available from the entry shop, and lots of space to picnic. There was a an outdoor area for the children with stepping logs, make your own den, mud kitchen etc. The craft room was also open where kids can design a shield, make a 3D portrait or investigate historical photos, plus an art themed trail around the grounds kept them well entetained. For the adults, the current exhibition on George Washington was both interactive and informative with some wonderful artefacts. The Manor is about 10mins from the M40 Banbury junction, and would make a great stop off on a longer journey.

Fast food restaurant
If you're on the hunt for a classic fast-food experience, look no further than McDonald's. This iconic chain is renowned for its delicious burgers and crispy fries, but it’s not just about the food. My recent visit to a local McDonald's was nothing short of delightful! The restaurant boasted an immaculate dining area with spotless tables and floors, creating a welcoming atmosphere that made me feel right at home.
I want to share my pleasant experience at McDonald's. This restaurant was truly top-notch! ✅Cleanliness and order: The dining area was impeccably clean, tables were tidy, and the floor was spotless. It immediately created a pleasant atmosphere. ✅Absence of unpleasant odors: Unlike some other McDonald's locations, there were no unpleasant smells of food or oil here. This is a big plus, as it makes dining in the restaurant comfortable. ✅Great service: The staff was friendly, attentive, and quick. Orders were taken promptly, and food was served without delays. ✅Overall impression: This McDonald's left me with very positive impressions. It truly lives up to high standards of cleanliness, service, and food quality. ✅Interesting observation: Have you noticed that the smaller the town, the better the McDonald's? It's curious, what could this be related to? Overall, I can sincerely recommend this McDonald's to anyone looking for a quick, tasty, and enjoyable snack.💪
Dmytro M — Google review
Utterly Rubbish..No Onion..no ketchup and dry. Despite telling the store manager..she heated the same burger and returned. FRIES very soggy. The customers are paying to eat the meal..It's not free. Ignorant staffs and rude manager. If you are not capable of treating the customers properly she shouldn't be working as a shift or store manager..
Shyami S — Google review
Went to the drive through and ordered my food only to be made to wait for it in a bay. No problem with this as I understand places get busy. I was then given the wrong order so I had to take it in to the resteraunt to politely ask for the correct one. I was then given back the same order so I asked again for mine laughing jokingly at the same mistake only to be confronted by the most obnoxious female manager ever who was incredibly rude and tried to shun off any kind of responsibility and accuse me of being the rude one for pointing out the mistake. I swear on my life I never raised my voice or said anything offensive whatsoever. I only told her that I didn't need her attitude as I was the paying customer that has been incorrectly served. I only said this after her rude attitude started the overall negativity. They then found my order and pretty much chucked it at me before I left. By this time it was cold and not enjoyable. Terrible experience.
TheRockstarnumber1 — Google review
Update 23/09/2025 - They've missed items, condiments, and they've not taken out requested ingredients (pickles). Do not go here. Updated 23/08/2025 - Staff here have become even more rude and can't remember to add the full order into the bags. When calling management there is 0 attempts in changing the experience. Save yourself the trouble and drive a couple more minutes to the next site. Most days this McDonalds is quite good and the service is alright. Particularly today the person who handed me my food was rude and unpleasant. Wouldn't recommend at this time
Thomas W — Google review
I pulled up to be told there is no meat and that they refused to turn the grills on. The woman that spoke to me at the drive thru at 00:50 had no regard for customer service and refused to serve me after asking why the grills were off
Fletcher C — Google review
The reason I give 5 stars is for the wonderful customer service. We accidentally ordered to the wrong McDonald's but the staff were so friendly and helpful, especially the manager who went out of her way to prepare the food anyway even though we were idiots! Really appreciated!
Kelly G — Google review
The ordering screens give the option for table service but the staff didn't bother bringing it at all. If they don't offer the service (I don't care either way) then why was it an option.
Greg D — Google review
Great experience at the local McDonald’s. Used the drive thru, and the voice was very freindly when we ordered. McFlurrys lovely as usual, will of course be back soon.

Sights & Landmarks
Broughton Castle, located in north Oxfordshire, is a historic fortified manor house that has been occupied by the Fiennes family since 1447. This Grade listed building, dating back to the 14th century, is renowned for its well-tended gardens and elegant stone-walled great hall. Despite being referred to as a castle, it is more accurately described as a fortified house with impressive medieval architecture.
Castle surrounded by a water stream, situated about 2 miles from Banbury town Only open 2 days a week. Check before you plan to go there. Tickets should be available at the gate scenic garden and surrounding farm land. Tea room filled with home made cakes and scones.

Excellent place to visit. Parking. Toilets. Cafe. Guides in most rooms. Photography allowed. Moated house and setting for lots of TV programmes, most famously, Wolf Hall. Lots to see and lovely gardens, very historic.
Sheila D — Google review
A wonderful place to visit. Friendly welcome and guides to give you information inside the castle. Used for many films and series on TV you can just picture yourself in some period drama as you take in the architecture and look around the many rooms, decorated with interesting period furniture and historical items. The view of the grounds from the roof is spectacular and you can see the wide moat in all its glory. Don't forget to look in the church within the grounds with it's resident bats. Practicalities:- parking and toilets and a very nice café. It's all well worth a visit.

Broughton Castle is a fabulous 14th century medieval fortified manor house. Had a great trip on the most wonderful summers day fascinating history, lovely moat and lots and lots of rooms open to look around including the rooftop area with fabulous views. Tea rooms and cakes excellent.

We visited the castle for the first time on Wednesday, (the only week day open) it was excellent. The interior was extremely well maintained with all the artifacts well displayed and documented. A few of the paintings were of particular interest to me and are very fine indeed. The room guides are knowledgeable and friendly. Outside, the gardens were also well maintained, stocked with an interesting selection of plants. We are members of Historic Houses and visit many homes around the country. Broughton Castle is well worth a visit. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

Nature & Parks
Broughton Grange Gardens, located in Oxfordshire, is a stunning example of contemporary British gardens spread across 400 acres of parkland and meadows. The gardens feature a walled garden, orchard with ancient fruit trees, arboretum, ornate fountains, prairie planting, koi pool, greenhouse and a stumpery. Visitors can enjoy long sweeping walks through the young arboretum and wildflower meadow.
This is a garden of multiple parts, united by stunning views and vistas. The Tom Stuart Smith walled garden was an explosion of colour and texture. But calmer areas exist through various avenues of beech. There is a wonderful new arboretum which has mown pathways running through it. It’s a beautiful walk down to the river and I was surprised no one else was walking outside the gated perimeter as it’s lovely. There is a tiny cafe serving delicious cakes. Clean toilets and a nursery selling unusual perennials.
Alison M — Google review
Visited these gardens with a group, including my mum, who struggles with walking. Although not particularly accessible, the head gardener was lovely and made sure my mum was OK. The gardens are a real treasure. Lots of lovely photo opportunities and plants to buy, with a nice little cafe on site. All the staff were friendly and the toilets were very clean. Thoroughly recommend visiting!
RMR S — Google review
A lovely location for garden lovers. It's development is relatively recent, and it's done with love, imagination and attention to detail. The garden is in sections down a gentle Cotswold hillside, and there are further woodland walks available. Opening is limited, but you won't be disappointed.
Peter H — Google review
We visited Broughton Grange on a very hot day scuttling from shade to shade but really enjoyed our time there. The prairie planting, koi pool and greenhouse were beautiful. The arboretum is fairly recently planted so we just enjoyed looking at it from a viewing point rather than getting baked in the sun but will be interested to return in a few years to see how it has grown and developed. We found that the gardens were interesting and varied with some wilder areas to contrast with the more formal parts, as well as some fun and surprising sculptures. It was also a very calm and peaceful place to stroll around.
Mary G — Google review
I was absolutely blown away by this garden. Having visited so many gardens over the years this has to be in my top 3. It is so well thought out loved and maintained. Through to gloriously inspiring planting and a gentle complimentary colour palette, to the well laid out pathways which invite you to explore every aspect of the garden. The landscape is like going back in time, with cattle demanding the back ground and afternoon sunshine. Even the tea lawn and tea shed are considered by adorning it with roses. Serving delicious fresh cakes and a really good pot of tea. Well done to all who help create this magical hidden space in the Oxfordshire countryside.

The museum looked interesting enough but the Ronny Loxton Art Exhibition was fantastic. Landscapes, wildlife and African animals beautifully captured on canvas, hessian and even on feathers. Plenty of Ronny Loxton designs on accessories too. I particularly liked the trays, cards and handmade soaps. It also looked like tea and cake was available at a beautifully rustic cafe.

Regardless to what Jim T writes, as maybe not a local resident to Deddington but within a stones throw away with a neighbouring village I seldom use this Co-op for the lack of staff and products it offers! Before the two self serve machines it was hopeless long queues with 3 tills only 1 person serving utter carnage! I use Adderbury Stores more often such an abundance of fresh groceries and selection of items - Give and take most Co-ops they are pivotal to any community but they are by far cheap like they use to be! This is my opinion it’s in my opinion and we all have an opinion if you agree or not this is my own experiences that I can share freely without people being judgemental towards others be respectful when posting instead of lambasting others Peace ☮️

Nice shop, nice polite staff, if only the selfish people that park around it new how to park, cars literally dumped anywhere while they shop.

I notice that the five negative reviews on here come from passing by people, not locals who are helped regularly by our local Co-op. Most of them are also habitual moaners who spend half an hour posting about out of date cream instead of agreeing that nobody is perfect and letting it go. Deddington locals couldn't cope without it, they are a great employer to our kids and are always well stocked despite the struggles that Brexit brought to delivery driver shortages. Last week I watched a team of teenage weekend staff helping a Granny who had collapsed in store and they were professional and caring to her beyond their years. Keep on moaning about your cream bell ends, life is too short

Pretty hopeless, and today sold me some single cream that is 2 days out of date. I phoned them to tell them, and suggest they check their shelves for others, as not everybody is as relaxed about these things as l am. However, they didn't answer the phone, so I assume nothing reported, nothing done!

This establishment, known as The Crown & Tuns Deddington, is highly regarded by customers. Its assortment of pies is unparalleled in terms of both variety and quality. Patrons can enjoy these delectable treats in a relaxed setting that offers excellent value for money. However, it's important to note that the place can get busy, and reservations are not accepted. While waiting for a table, visitors have the option to enjoy a drink or two at the bar in a convivial atmosphere.
Easily the best and best value roast dinner in the area. £20 for two courses of freshly cooked food. Not prepackaged and mass produced from a chain pub. Good portion size. Actual roast potatoes (cooked in duck fat) unlike most other places. Childrens' portion also available and excellent size. The service was also extremely friendly and helpful, especially when we were dining with a number of young children. If in the area or passing through you must visit for food. Definitely will go back for the roasts and to try the full menu in the week.

This used to be an amazing pie place with so many different types of pie on offer. Revisited recently, but management had changed. There was still tasty pie on offer, but it was nothing like before. Pie itself was great, but the veggie and sides were bland. Small portion and the veg was just boiled!

Absolutely love this place. The pies are second to none, both in terms of selection and quality. They are all served in a nice relaxed environment and are great value for money. You do need to be aware that they can get quite busy at times and do not take reservations, but you can always go to the bar and have a nice drink or two whilst you wait in a nice friendly atmosphere. Just to update as it has been over a year since I posted the original review. I have just been back, and if anything they have got better. The service is second to none with the waitresses professional yet friendly and engaged. The food amazing. I had the apple pie for dessert and it was as big as the main pies, very tasty, though you may want to share it with someone else

Good food. Wide range of pies, though not as fantastic as I was expecting. The side order of mash potatoes and veg were more like school dinners as it was boiled to death and the mash was dry and scooped into large cricket size balls. Would I go back...maybe if someone else was paying, yes. UPDATE: lovely to see it took the owners 8 months to even respond to my review, and then decide to be sarcastic rather than objective or constructive. As for my review, I stand by it. It was like a school meal, tasteless and watery. Finally, if someone did offer to pay for my meal I'd tell them to keep their money and go elsewhere.

Simply the best pies you could ask for. Decent amount of filling and the puff pastry is layered and stands proud. You get some seasonal veg and can choose mash or chips too.

Indian restaurant
Voujon is a convivial, family-run Bengali dining room with a contemporary bar and lounge, offering a large menu. Customers have praised the Tuesday banquet offer for its excellent value for money when ordering takeout. The staff are described as helpful and accommodating, ensuring that orders are clear and complete. Diners have enjoyed piping hot and generous portions of delicious food, with one customer expressing that they've never had a bad meal from Voujon.
A fabulous feast of food! Tuesday night is a brilliant evening to sample this fine restaurant, they have a banquet special where you can enjoy any starter, any main, a veg side dish (between 2) and either any rice or a naan for £14.99. *there are a couple of restrictions or surpluses but mostly a free choice. My partner and I enjoyed: Poppadoms and pickles (£4.50 extra for 2 each) Vegetable samosas Chicken Chaat Voujon Special Rogan Chasni Tikka Saag Aluu Plain Naan I would say it was all packed with flavour, had a slight kick to it but was not overly spicy. The table next to us asked for spicy and the guys were in tears so I would assume you can get what you want you only need to ask. I personally prefer to enjoy my, not so spicy, meal! Service was a good pace, lots of attentive staff and the decor is very nice. The toilets are kept clean and I would say location wise its perfect with a car park outside and a short walk from the town centre. 100% going to return and will be reccomending to many others. Blown away by this place

Lovely early dinner with a friend! The ambience was really nice and relaxing, perfect for a chilled catch-up. I had the Madras curry and loved it – rich, spicy, and full of flavour. My friend had the Naga, which was great too. Portions were generous and the prices were very reasonable. Definitely a spot we’ll return to!

Arrived somewhat later on a Tuesday evening. Welcomed with excellent service, glorious food, and an engaging proprietor. Our meal (one course, 4 people, 6 dishes with naan) took slightly over an hour, but we enjoyed the time for conversation, and did not feel at all rushed to clear the table. Highly recommend.

Working away and decided to try this place out after been recommended by a guy in oub near by. Was not disappointed it was amazing. Never heard of chicken Alphonso but wow!!!! Was amazing .... the whole experience was top quality especially seen as i went on tuesday when they have a good offer on 4 courses but would have been happy paying full price. I heard other customers talking about their takeaway saying its the same quality as eating in.......am slightly jealous of the residents of Banbury

Farm and Table

Nestled on a picturesque farm, Farm and Table is the perfect destination for those seeking a delightful breakfast experience while also shopping for fresh groceries. The charming farm shop offers an impressive selection of produce, including a tempting cheese counter that’s not to be missed. While the menu could benefit from more vegetable options—featuring only mushrooms and avocado as highlights—the overall ambiance makes up for it. Diners can enjoy their meals at cozy indoor or outdoor tables, surrounded by lovely decor and a welcoming atmosphere.
At this point, I’d say we’re probably regulars. If you like a farm shop this is the best one we’ve been to - food is amazing, always so fresh. Breakfast is the best but lunch is also great and Sunday roast is a must try. Dog friendly with loads of space and comfy sofas upstairs. Farm shop opposite with home grown produce. Highly recommend for anyone nearby
Kirsty W — Google review
I was disappointed with the menu. Set in a lovely Located on a farm with extensive farm shop there I was only one dish that had vegetables which was mushrooms and avocado. No vegetable were a side dish or included in any of the other meals available. So I ended up with a (chicken burger) that had salsa and 2 limp leaves of lettuce, encased in a brioche bun. I didn’t eat the brioche or the lettuce I ate the chicken fillets dipped in the salsa. The fries, unfortunately overcooked for skinny fries I ate the edible ones. We shared an avocado side dish which was heavily sprinkled with salt!, maybe some lime juice and some chilli flakes would have made it more edible. This experience could have been so much better and maybe some more consideration taken for vegetarians, and lower carb preferences.

This is a gem of a place! The service is out of this world, very much like the level you get in South Africa. The food was amazing and the farm stall is mind blowing! Definitely a place to frequent if you have deep pockets.

One of my absolute faves! I visit often, the food is always Delish and beautifully presented — total treat for the tastebuds and the camera😉. Coffee’s always spot on, and the team are so warm and welcoming, it’s hard not to smile the moment you walk in☺️ Whether it’s brunch, lunch, or just a caffeine fix, Farm & Table never lets me down🙌

Quality meets practicality - a fantastic one-stop shop for a proper gourmet meal (indoor/outdoor tables) at the restaurant, and all the groceries you need at the farm shop. Was able to buy a week's worth of fresh produce and groceries without need to further stop at a supermarket. The staff were very welcoming. Exactly the kind of establishment we need more of, everywhere.
W P — Google review
Been a few times and a lovely place to eat but specifically says no substitution or alterations on weekends. For me, that just shows lack of ability of the chefs in the kitchen and no desire from the restaurant to be accommodating to their customers. £12 for eggs Benedict’s, it was nice, don’t get me wrong but asked for bacon instead of ham. They couldn’t accommodate this request so ordered a side of bacon…£3 for 2 slithers of crispy streaky bacon. Total price £15 for 1 english muffin, some ham, 2 eggs, 2 teaspoons of hollandaise and 2 pieces of streaky bacon. Not asking for the world but just would like better value. Like I’ve said we’ve been a few times now, won’t be returning as a lot better breakfasts/farm shops if you travel into the Cotswolds.

On a busy Sunday during lunchtime, although there was a long wait, the food at The Barley Mow in Banbury was excellent. The new management has significantly improved the dining experience compared to previous visits. It received a rating of 4 out of 5. The restaurant is also kid-friendly and provides a welcoming atmosphere. Joey, the manager, was informative and friendly, while Lillie provided great service and showed knowledge about allergies.
Great Chinese takeaway! Delicious food, great service, fast delivery, and fair prices.
Kelly K — Google review
If you're just going for food, you'll be pleased! The food was delicious and a relatively good price. Unfortunately it was let down by its service and accessibility. In terms of service, most of the servers were very nice, however when I asked a member of staff bringing drinks to the table for some tap water I was very brusquely told to go to the bar or order on the app. As a disabled individual, I was unable to get to the bar and tap water was not available to order via the app. When I attempted to tell him this, he walked off mid-sentence though he did eventually bring me some water. I am very grateful for the water, I just wish he had been more polite. In terms of accessibility, I was there on foot rather than in my wheelchair. Had I been in my chair, however, I do not think I would have been able to access the disabled toilet. It is down a corridor with some sharp turns and is a very small room. It is also on the opposite side of the pub from the step free entrance and dining tables. My wheelchair would not have been able to fit in the toilet in a way that allowed me to close the door. It would thus have been impossible for me to use. The lock is also not suited for use as it shows as engaged whether it is occupied or locked with a radar key. This means that it is not possible to know whether or not there is actually someone in there until after you have opened the door. Overall, I would visit the chain again but not necessarily this pub.

Popped in for Friday lunch and was completely blown away! Myself and husband have never visited before but we wish we had come sooner! The food sizes were very large we both struggled to finish! Prices very competitive and amazing value for money! Very happy with how our food was cooked and presentation was even nice! Will be returning soon! Very happy customers!

We booked a table at 8, implying food but service stops at 8. No signage at all for this and a half hour wasted thinking we had time. Too that off we walked in no one to speak to, people sitting at the reserved table, we might have made the food order if staff were more proactive.Kind of entitled of me in a way but cannot help but think how unhelpful the staff were. Could have told us time ago that food isn’t available and last orders just before 8. Such a shame. This is a Sunday but apologies this could have been avoided with more attentive staff.

Part of the sizzling chain of pubs so food is similar to their menus at other pubs, can be a wait of up to 45 mins for food at peak times. Usually showing whatever sport is currently on TV on multiple screens, have a pool table and darts board. Dog friendly on the wooden floor area of the pub. Has a pub quiz on Thursdays and Sundays at 9pm and has a large car park out the back.

Been going to the Barley Mow for years and Nevaeh has been non stop amazing through service, she has helped my daughter out and been so so kind. My little girl loves her. We also had an issue with some food we had and Nevaeh sorted it out so quickly. Lovely girl to chat too. Goes above and beyond on any situation. She’s been wonderful considering she has only been here for 4 months Thank you so much xxx

WARNING do not use for food delivery! I had pre-ordered at about 2pm for a delivery for 7.30pm from the Barley Mow but they still could not get it to me on time. In fact it was over an hour late and had items missing too! Their attitude was unprofessional, dismissive and arrogant. As well as this I was constantly lied to by a member of staff! Ordered at 2pm for a 7.30pm delivery. This time kept getting pushed back more & more until I had a message saying that the courier was at the restaurant and waiting for my food. However, at 7.50pm it had still not arrived, so I called them. The person said that my food was “ready” and they were waiting for a driver. This turned out to be a complete lie! At 8.10pm I called again explaining the issue, but they said that they were “busy” and could not help me. I find this totally frustrating and poor service. After several calls to them my food finally arrived at about 8.30pm. The driver explained that he was definitely at the restaurant and waiting for the kitchen to complete the order. However, not only was my food over an hour late it was also incomplete and had items missing. The service I received was totally unacceptable and a disgrace

Day 5

Keep it simple
For day 5, these 7 places should be enough to fill your day with something exciting to do in Banbury. Start the day with Castle Quay Car Park (South) - Long Stay and make your way through the city to get to Saint Mary's Church, Banbury. This should take about 7 hours of your day.

Castle Quay Car Park (South) - Long Stay

Parking lot
Castle Quay Car Park (South) - Long Stay in Banbury offers plenty of free spaces, especially on the higher levels. There is a whole floor dedicated to parents with children's parking spots, and there is also a carwash located on the ground level. Upon entry, a parking ticket is issued and payment must be made before leaving at one of the conveniently located payment machines. The pricing is reasonable, costing 1.90 for less than 2 hours of parking.
Great car park, plenty of spaces available. Just a little tight on some of the ramps at time. I love the beeping sound from the machines upon entering and exiting when receiving/inserting ticket, never been to a car park quite like it :)
Dan B — Google review
The entrance is very tight. If you want to park in the disabled spaces on the ground floor you have to go down a ramp to the floor below (even though you are on the disabled level) then back up a ramp to the disabled spaces. If you want to go into Castle Quay and you have a mobility scooter you take your life in your hands. The kerb is not flat and then you have to cross over to the opposite kerb which has quite a bump to get over. You are also crossing in front of traffic coming up from the lower ground floor and it is coming up fairly fast as it comes up the ramp. Exiting the car park is just as daft as you then have to go back down a level and back up to the level you have just come from to reach the exit which is just yards from where you were parked. Sounds daft....it is.
Angela A — Google review
It's an old type multistorey car park. Poor lighting, tight spaces & badly laid out. But at a convenient location (for Banbury Town centre) & not too expensive.
Dean L — Google review
Easy car park but a lot of people can’t seem to park properly or sometimes even nearly. CN get you car washed there but have seen a few times people complaining about scratches etc, have used it and wash was ok .
D B — Google review
There were plenty of free spaces the higher I went. I was pleasantly surprised by the whole floor dedicated to parents with children's parking spots. I think it was couple of levels up. On the ground level is a carwash. A parking ticket is issued at the entry to the car park, and you have to pay before leaving. Payment machines are one near the lift and other next to the staircase. Price wise it cost me £1.90 for less than 2 hours of parking... I guess that's pretty standard for the middle of the town parking. Once you park, the exit takes you straight to Castle quay shopping centre.
Branislava S — Google review
It's a car park what more can I say. Lots of baby and toddler spaces although they normally get used by old people. Takes contactless payments, pretty cheap and right next to lock 29 and the canal. Warning, the route round the carpark is a b***h
Jenny — Google review
Dear lord this car park took forever to get out of. its the only car park I know of i have to go down a level to go up. The lift would not work on return. a payment machine was down This meant que to pay for ticket then I had to carry a pushchair up the stairs to (parent and child car park bay) yes this carpark has been well thought of when laid out incase of there only cranky machinery not working with a little one makes it a bit awkward. Reason you have 2 stars is because its not the worst car park in the town and I will reuse when I don't have kids with me due to the price but it certainly reflects on price.
Sam M — Google review
How do you rate a car park? There are lots of spaces +1*. There are lots of ground floor disabled/toddler spaces +1*. The location is very handy to get to the shopping precinct +1*. The spaces are small -1*. Getting in and out is dodgy with little ground clearance on the ramps and poorly marked directions. _1*

Tooley's Boatyard, located in the heart of Banbury on the South Oxford Canal, is a historic and cherished ancient monument with a rich heritage dating back to the canal's early days. It boasts the oldest operational dry dock along England's inland waterways, serving longboats and other inland watercraft since 1778.
Fascinating place, full of history. Very friendly people, particularly the woman who runs the forge (unfortunately I didn't get her name) who took the time to tell us all about the place and show us round the forge. There's a small, free (donations appreciated) exhibition with information about the site and canal life in general, which is well worth looking round. For boaters there's a chandlery and a working boatyard. For the casual visitor / tourist, it's an interesting glimpse into canal life, past and present. Highly recommended.

Fantastic afternoon on the boat very informative commentary along the canal I've learned alot about the history of the canal and boatyard. As a bonus i can also now operate a lock. Sat at home now enjoying a lovely Dancing Duck Beer.

Fantastic visit - I read that you could book a tour and I messaged them on Facebook and it was easy enough to book in on a day we wanted. There was a small area with lots of information and memorabilia in and then a volunteer gave us an amazing several hour tour of the boatyard, telling us lots of history, showing us in the blacksmith's workshop (with blacksmith in situ), the dry dock etc. Couldn't believe it was free of charge, it was a wonderful visit. I've also been back for the art festival and it was an brilliantly atmospheric venue listening to the Cecil Sharp folk choir in the dry dock. Well worth a visit - we need to keep this incredible heritage in our local area.

I completed the RYA Helming 2 day course this week under the instruction of Jacob. Absolutely brilliant and so glad I did the training. I'm amazed it's not compulsory for new users and new owners. With only three on the course everyone has time to practice manoeuvres. Highly recommend the course and Tolley's as the provider and also Jacob as the instructor. Knot and rope work was also excellent.

I contacted the forge a few months ago with an idea for my cosplay project. I wanted to see if it was possible to add cosmetic steel caps with rivet studs to the toes of my boots. I spoke with Ems on the phone and she was keen as mustard to do the job, and after a short while, she produced exactly what I was looking for. Exceptional work. The picture below is of the boots as they are today (14/8/24) and the rust is intentional! I've already referred friends to the yard for custom metalwork projects.

When visiting Banbury, make sure to stop by The Granary, the town's oldest cafe known for its famous Banbury Cakes. This cozy restaurant offers a variety of delicious homemade dishes at reasonable prices. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty breakfast or a satisfying lunch, The Granary has something for everyone. Visitors rave about the friendly and helpful staff who provide excellent service even during busy times.
Very lovely cosy restaurant, staff are very helpful. Good range of foods at a good price, the best homemade Banbury cakes in the whole of Banbury. It's tucked away behind the main street but well worth finding out.

Banbury has a lot of options for someone looking for a quick bite of lunch or a cuppa and a slice of cake. But The Granary is one of my favourite spots and one that could be easily missed if someone didn't tell you about it. I've been several times - for breakfast and for lunch and was struck each time by what a great value it is. Good food, plenty of it and a very reasonable price. Last visit - a lunch visit - I had the chicken mayo, bacon & pesto panini while my husband had the Granary club. We split an order of chips (because an order of chips is pretty darned sizable). Both sandwiches were delicious and very satisfying. The staff were friendly and welcoming, nothing is any trouble. Why is it so easy to miss? Because it is on Butcher's Lane (just off the marketplace as well as opening on to the High Street) and the lane can look at first glance as if it's just the back of buildings but no - there's shops and eateries down there. Go on and head down to the Granary. You won't be disappointed

Tomek I — Google review
I love wandering around the market, reasonable choice of goods, veg, cheese, meat, fish, home made goods. By no means the biggest but still nice, reminds me of the local market my mum bought from when I was a kid in the 1950s! Love it.
Martin L — Google review
Non existent tbh .... it's not on Weds as far as I could see and I was parked right in the middle of the market place in the disabled parking spaces ... not even sure what it's like when it is on as never been. But I remember the OLD market which was worth visiting Thursday and Saturday.. sadly doesn't happen anymore.

Well done to Ken and The Coffee Guys, brilliant service and brilliant selection of teas coffee and cakes - of the Banbury variety. Always helpful and upbeat during these difficult times. See you soon.

The Market on Thursday and Saturday are the worst that I have seen for years, since the Cherwell took the car park back there is no room for a Market on the top by HSBC the Cherwell Council are getting very Gredy and thay have spoult the Market. It with nether be the same eneymore.

The Farmers' Market is a hidden gem of Banbury with lovely and enthusiastic stall holders. The market is under-supported and deserves much better from the people of this town.
Robert J — Google review
We went quite late in the day, but still the stalls were selling great produce, lovely flowers and plants, fruit and veg.

Sights & Landmarks
Churches & Cathedrals
Saint Mary's Church in Banbury is a significant landmark, being the town's only Grade listed building. Constructed in the late 18th century, it boasts impressive late Georgian architecture and is recognized as the largest parish church built during that period in England. The churchyard is notable for inspiring Jonathan Swift to name the hero in Gulliver's Travels after seeing names on tombstones and monuments.
Beautiful church and people are genuinely friendly. Enjoyed a concert there and felt the strong bonding in the community. Love the vibe.
Bonnie Y — Google review
I love the unique architecture of this Church. Met a lovely lady outside who was able to talk about some of the history of the church. It was a shame it wasn't open for us to pray and have a look around.
Sarah - — Google review
Visited during open hours, interior is a remarkable space and on our visit featured works by local artists and a superior welcome by two volunteers who made us feel perfectly welcome and helped us enjoy our stay.

Very grand and imposing church, excellent venue for a concert.

Wonderful church. Very welcoming.
Maggie T — Google review
This is a beautiful church to visit. Plenty of literature to read on the history of the church and when we visited there the volunteers who were there were very friendly and welcoming.
David A — Google review
A very ornate Church from the outside, built in a circular style with many columns surrounding it. Parking for ceremonies is very convenient, just over the road & reasonably priced at around £1 per hour. Inside, the Church is very spacious with an echo. The pews are the old style the doors to shut the congregation in! A grand Church organ is seen & plays a lovely sound. I'm sure the local Sunday congregation are very pleased with the facilities & the Church personnel come across as very friendly & keen to help.
Nigel H — Google review
Wonderful building but needs updating. Needs new oak chair seating for a better worship experience. Great venue acoustic for classical music. Very friendly attendants. Why doesn’t the Diocese or Church of England synod etc put up the money for their churches upkeep and increase Rectors' stipend? I'm sure God would like his house to be more beautiful.

Restaurant
Nestled on Parsons Street, Siam House is a charming family-run Thai restaurant that has been delighting diners since 2003. This stylish venue offers an authentic menu filled with classic dishes, each thoughtfully prepared using fresh ingredients sourced directly from Thailand and local suppliers. The heat level of the dishes is clearly indicated by chili symbols, making it easy for guests to choose their spice preference.
A fablous restaurant right in the heart of the town. Lively authentic Thai food served with a smile and reasonably priced as well. well worth a visit
Jeff D — Google review
Our meal consisted of chicken and prawn tom yum soup which wasn't spicy enough x dry weeping tiger with barely any sauce and my seafood house special and even though I'd specified 'medium' it was so hot it was inedible. My mouth was still burning an hour later!
Sharon T — Google review
Absolutely loved our meal here! Me and my boyfriend really enjoyed everything from start to finish. The prawn toast was hands down one of the best we've had – super crispy and full of flavour. Our curries were delicious, packed with taste and spice, and surprisingly affordable too. Service was friendly and efficient, and we didn’t have to wait long at all. Highly recommend if you’re after tasty Thai food and a chilled, welcoming vibe!

I normally go to the restaurant and the food has always been nice. Today I decided to get a take away from them- I was so disappointed as the food was absolutely disgusting. Really not happy and would NOT recommend a takeaway from this places
RUBY R — Google review
We had a takeout last night and it was SENSATIONAL. I had Thai green curry it was packed with chicken and veg, so tasty and fresh. I also had pineapple rice, it was amazing. Such a wonderful surprise thank you
Di K — Google review
A quaint Thai restaurant with lovely service, however the food quality and portion size was disappointing here. The sauce on my main dish tasted like Heinz tomato ketchup, whilst the small side salad had a piece of inedible raw cabbage. Despite spending £20 here, afterwards I went to the smash Burger joint over the road because I wasn't full.
Tom P — Google review
Such friendly staff and everybody in there was regular customers the staff knew who they were and had a very warm environment with the friendliness, the food was beautiful was very hot, The fish and pork both fell to pieces as touched also no bones found in the fish this is a bonus very well done. They are also very greatful for the custom.
Cayci L — Google review
Very disappointed tonight. Ordered bean curd and mixed veg red curry specifically requesting aubergine which they omitted last time despite it being in the description of the meal. Consisted of bean curd and green peppers!!!!!!! I rang and they said they'd told the kitchen what we wanted and they completely ignored the request. My partner is now cooking her own mixed veg to put in the meal. What's the point of spending money on meals they can't get right. Another one for us to boycott 😡

Fast food restaurant
I recently had a wonderful dining experience at Kosmos Greek Grill, an establishment that offers delivery service through Deliveroo. The food I ordered exceeded my expectations as it arrived promptly and was still hot, without any signs of sogginess from transportation. It tasted remarkably fresh, as if it had just come off the grill. My order included a lamb yeeros, a chicken yerros box, and an aubergine side dish, all of which I highly recommend.
Delicious food, somehow they make a kebab taste fresh, not at all greasy. Well seasoned fries and meat. The wild boar sausage is delicious and pitta is soft and fluffy! Would recommend the wraps and boxes especially. Had quite a few times now, never disappointed. Large portions, the boxes have loads of meat and fries so great value for money. Customer service could improve, but excellent food.
Sugar S — Google review
Called in last minute around 21:00hrs for something to eat, decided on the Mixed yeeros which cost £12:80 sounds alot but there was enough for two, was presented nicely, chip's were good, pitta bread was pretty good, but overall it lacked, not much meat, couldn't taste the tzatziki. After eating a lot of Greek cuisine, this didn't quite meet the standard. So it comes down to the big question would I go back? If no where else was open but it's a no from me.
Andy S — Google review
Absolutely fantastic food. It's like real Greek gyros etc. Pita is soft and they sell Mythos and Keo too, prices also are are fantastic. Couldn't be more perfect.

Possibly the best Greek kebab- Kyros I've had since going to Crete, was very good everything tasted fresh, everything within restaurant was spotless and the price was as cheap as there chips

The food was very tasty and enough to not want more. I didn't expect allot but the meat was amazing.

Ordered the pork gyros box. Absolutely delicious, however the pork could use some more spices. Will order again.

Really love this place. Enjoyed yet another takeaway on Friday evening, this time I went for the chicken yeeros wrap with extra chips.

First ever visit here and have been looking forward to it and i certainly wasn't disappointed. Met Rob the owner had a good chat about craft beer. 12 beers on tap and 2 fridges full of cans and bottles. Super friendly staff. Will 100% be back

The best pub / bar / establishment in Banbury. Be sure of a warm welcome every time. You'll also get a chuckle before you even walk in the door thanks to the ever changing jokes on the board outside. A wide range of drinks to choose from, and not just the beer. The atmosphere is wonderful, landlord and lady friendly and knowledgeable. Have been in on an impromptu visit and several comedy club Sunday's - never disappoints. Thank you and keep up the great work - Laura & Matt

There are many fine pubs in Banbury, but this is the most unique you'll come across. Always a finely curated and really interesting selection of beers and ciders which change regularly. The owners are firmly committed to promoting local comedy and live music. It's always a great place to be, there is always a great atmosphere and there is always great music to listen to - either live or ambient. This is a place not to be missed.

This is the second time I have visited the Apothecary. This fantastic establishment offers a superb selection of beers. Rob, the very, very friendly owner makes you feel at home. Also, Rob's ability to remember infrequent visitors names astounds me! I would highly recommend a visit. You will not be disappointed. 5 star plus.

Love, love, love The Apothecary Tap ❤️ What a place! Rob & Karen are wonderful hosts, so welcoming and passionate about their bar and the local community. We are always greeted with a smile without fail, no matter how busy they are, and we know we are going to relax and be cared for when we are there. What more could you ask for? Mally to dog, that’s what, and he’s there too! An amazing place. Come and join the family ☺️

Amazing selection of beers and not just! The owner's are friendly and knowledgeable of what's on offer. If you not sure what to choose they will find you something right up your street 😉 This place is still running the comedy nights as well as music events! Pop around and you will not be disappointed. Ps. As you open the door into this little gem, cute dog will welcome you 🙌 Ps 2. Food - i mean snacks 🤣

Quite simply our favourite place to be. Always a warm welcome from Rob, Karen & Mally and the best selection of independent craft beers (other drinks are available) I’ve ever found, expertly selected. A treat when live music is on but otherwise the playlist is pretty good too 😉. Random food vendors often appear at the Tap with delicious comfort food, which helps soak up the beer. We’ve never been disappointed! Wish we could get to more of the comedy nights!!!

Thai restaurant
Thai Orchid is an established Thai restaurant known for its opulent Eastern decor and exotic carved furnishings. The restaurant offers a warm and inviting ambiance, making it perfect for a relaxed meal or special occasion. The food is praised for its freshness, balance of sweetness and spice, and rich flavors. While some recommend the Sunday buffet for its good quality and variety at a decent price, others feel that the main curries and desserts could be improved.
Absolutely amazing place. First time I have tried Thai food and it was all a real tasty treat (Literally. Invited out by my bestie's Dad and wife). So tasty. Buffet only on Sunday 12pm - 2pm. I tried so many things. Everything was hot and swiftly replenished. Great selection of puddings as well. The mains were mostly labelled what they were. I can't handle too much hotness or spiciness, and everything I had was fine. A couple raised had me taking a drink, but still manageable. There are spider plants growing from the ceiling inside, which you can get the new ones from. Just ask. The chairs are carved with elephant 🐘 scenes and are very beautiful 😍. Heavy too. I would love to go there again.

After seeing lots of good reviews, my husband and I went here for dinner tonight. The ambiance was lovely, and the staff were polite, friendly, and efficient. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. I was surprised to find no vegan options at all. I settled for a vegetarian dish—Pak Pad Prig (stir-fried vegetables with garlic and fresh chilli)—but it was completely bland. My husband’s non-veg dish was also mediocre. Overall, not a place for vegans or vegetarians, despite the great service.
Kalika G — Google review
Very attractive from the outside and cavernous on the inside, this is a nice place. I've eaten in a few places in Banbury and for me, this is an oasis in a culinary desert. To start, I had fishcakes. All different in shape and size and looked very homemade. They tasted great and were served with a very fresh side salad and a zingy dip. For main, I had a deep fried fish (maybe Tilapia). Again, very nice with a dip heavy with nam pla. Along side was a portion of sticky rice. It was definitely sticky, it was lovely and just the right size. Quite often I find the rice portion sizes too big, I hate waste. The fish was a bit tricky to eat with a knife and fork, you need to go full caveman on it I think. All in all, very good. As were my previous 3 visits. I shall return!
Peter C — Google review
Had a buffet for lunch here, and the foods were so flavoursome and cooked fresh. We could go up and choose what we wanted. Most foods were clearly stated as what each portion was. Lovely atmosphere, it was very busy which was good to see so many people enjoying and complimenting the food. The restaurant was kept clean and dishes were taken away swiftly when finished. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

All amazing. Went in for a quick lunch, I got the pad Thai, and it was really really lovely. The atmosphere is very peaceful and great decorating, the server was very kind and polite and the food was great, even a girl I went with who is quite a picky eater really loved it.

Dining at the Thai Orchid was an exceptional experience. The ambiance is warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal. The food was perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness and spice, rich and flavorful. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Thai cuisine!

Had the pleasure of dining at “Thai Orchard” in Banbury for their Sunday lunch buffet and it surpassed all expectations! For just £23, it stands out as the most value-packed and scrumptious Thai buffet I’ve ever had in the UK. The spread showcased a delightful variety: the skewered roasted pork was juicy and perfectly seasoned, the curry rice carried a depth of flavors that was satisfying, and the coconut noodle soup was creamy with just the right hint of sweetness. Don’t even get me started on the roasted duck noodle soup; its rich broth and tender duck pieces were the stars of my meal. If you’re in Banbury, don’t miss the chance to indulge in “Thai Orchard’s” exquisite buffet spread!
Harrison W — Google review
Good quality Buffet on the Sunday, £23 per person. Need to get their bang on opening to make sure get good pick on food. It does get really busy as you would expect for the price. Parking at Morrisons super market is free for 3 hours and a short walk. Starters are really good , the main curry’s and desserts let it down. The restaurant has nice decor but the feel of the meal is just head down and eat instead of socialise. Would recommend but one visit is enough as quality over quantity.
