Miradouro da Serra do Cume, also known as Manta de Retalhos, is a must-see viewpoint in Terceira Island, offering stunning panoramic views of the island's interior plains and Praia da Vitória. Situated at 1800 feet above sea level, it overlooks one of the largest craters in Europe with a diameter of 15 km.
Second visit here but this time with perfect weather conditions. It's a really amazing place and a must do if you are in Terceira and it has good weather. This place was a bit crowded in September, but after a few minutes people left and there was enough space to enjoy the view over the island. So much green, incredible 👍☺️
Vicky G — Google review
Amazing view. There is the designated viewpoint with platform on the one side but you should stop and look on the other toward the ocean as well.
Rod S — Google review
Beautiful landscape! We all loved it. It was really windy and a little bit cooler than on the coast side. At first we couldn't find it because there are 2 Serra do come on Google maps! The road from the south (we came from Ribeirinha) was really narrow, a typically agricultural road and we met with more than one tractor. Luckily we didn't need to reverse, this would have been really tricky on the small road.
Elli B — Google review
Great place to enjoy beautiful views of the island.
Robert K — Google review
A lovely view and a really fun drive up. There weren't a lot of people when I visited, although it's more of a quick stop to take a scenic photo. There were also cows resting up here when I visited.
Carlo F — Google review
When clear, this may be the most spectacular view on the island. The drive up through hydrangea (hortênsia) thriving on lava rock walls is a sight itself, but the big payoff comes at the top along the road and at the modern observation deck 542 meters above sea level and the 700 acre Achada Plain.
Tony D — Google review
Great spot. Fantastic views all round. On one side of a huge collapsed caldera with a patchwork of fields in the basin and the rim visible on 3 sides and cones towards the sea. Also home to just about every radio mast in the Azores. Well worth a visit.

Mountain peak
Serra do Cume offers a unique and breathtaking viewpoint with its rolling green fields, stone walls, and hydrangeas creating a visually arresting patchwork against the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean. The mountain road provides access to this extraordinary sight, where visitors can take in the never-ending "patchwork blanket" of beautiful greenery meeting the blue ocean on the horizon.

One of the best views on the island. I downloaded Google maps prior to my visit and the location is off, had to backtrack to the main road and follow the signs.

Undoubtedly must go place. Watch if You can see the windmills from below before going. In case not its better to wait some time as probably You wont be able to see anything from above then.
Paweł K — Google review
Happiness looks like Serra do Cume. Extraordinary, faboulous view. Neverending "patchowork blanket" in beautiful green colour. This is the place where green land meets the blue of the ocean on the horizon.

SERRA DO CUME:  a viewpoint unlike any other we have seen in our travels. Visually arresting geometrical shapes formed by the countless stone walls and fences that frame the green pastures. against a stunning backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean. A breathtaking combination of natural elements that we have not come across in any other part of the world - yet!

We loved this spot so much we came back twice in a week. Super friendly service with all the baked goods coming directly out of the back. I highly recommend trying the local tart specialties… I especially loved their version of the Dona Amelia with raisins and favourful balance of warm spices. The cake specific to Praia was also tasty. As a person with an allergy to nuts and peanuts, I felt safe eating here as they are confident in their products and production. Only regret was that I didn’t order more!

Facho Viewpoint, also known as Miradouro do Facho, is a hilltop spot located just outside Praia da Vitoria. It offers stunning panoramic views of the town, harbor, and surrounding countryside. Accessible by car or a steep staircase for the more adventurous, this viewpoint provides an ideal vantage point to capture breathtaking photos. Visitors can also enjoy a swing at the top of the mountain for a unique experience.
Came here to watch the sunrise since it’s on the east side of the island and was not disappointed. No one around at all that early expect for a friendly farmer. Drive was easy with lots of parking.

You have 2 ways to go up: either the road that winds through the green fields, the cows and the northern sea view or a geometrical structure of steps that arrives directly to the viewpoint. From there you get a nice view of the city and its unreal silence.
Anna P — Google review
Totally worth visiting, beautiful place and the surroundings
Heidi M — Google review
Kids friendly description: This hilltop lookout gives you a stunning view over the town, the bay, and the ocean beyond. It’s called Facho because in the old days, people lit signal fires (fachos) here to warn the island if enemy ships were coming! Now there’s a big white monument to peace at the top, and it’s a great place for photos or just to feel the wind and watch the waves. You’re standing where guards once kept watch to protect the island—pretty epic, right?
Filip F — Google review
Great place to get an overall view of Praia Vitoria. Super convenient and close to town. Highly recommend
Derrick L — Google review
Big climb for the fit and able. Acrophobics should not attempt the climb. It is reachable by road too. On the day we climbed it was closed, but worth it for the views of Praia Da Vitória and challenge for a pensioner.
Ian — Google review
If you're looking for a unique and breathtaking experience, I highly recommend checking out the swing on the top of the mountain. The journey up the mountain is a nice one, and the scenery along the way is absolutely stunning. Just be aware that you might catch a whiff of the cows before you actually see them. But don't let that deter you, because once you reach the top of the mountain, you'll be rewarded with incredible views and a truly unforgettable experience. In addition to the swing, there's also a beautiful statue to admire. It's the perfect spot to snap some photos and take in the natural beauty of the area. #Touristattraction #Photoop

Stopped for lunch as we visited Praia de Vitoria and it is a cute little place worth a visit! We were greeted immediately and sat out in the market since it was a cool day. The food was so good. I haven’t had a decent taco salad outside the US, and this one was perfect! The crispy chicken was also very good. Well worth the price. The desserts all looked amazing but the caramel carrot cake was perfect! I would definitely go back!

Restaurante Larica is a hidden gem for travelers looking for a satisfying dining experience. Despite the inconvenience of a canceled flight, visitors found solace in the restaurant's delicious food and attentive service. Fantastic restaurant, it was my husband's request to find a quiet place to have dinner and my search came to this small family restaurant. The place was all reserved by the time we got there, but the owner was excellent in giving us a table for about 1 hour and 30m, and we really enjoyed our food, their picanha was so good and juicy!!! The environment is so nice and with a good vibe and ambience. Their passion fruit mousse was so delicious and light!!! A must visit place, but make sure to call and make a reservation.

The restaurant is small so be sure to reserve a table. We were lucky enough that they could fit us without reservation. This place has huge variety of food and sweets. Prices are reasonable. I would definitely give a 5 star if the server was pleasant. The lady at cashier was extremely moody! After passing by us 4 times and ignoring us, she decided to ask what we needed but in a very uneducated tone. I felt like was not welcomed there with my family! Which I was there with two educated adult family members.

Lovely American Café in Praia that specialises in donuts and sweet stuff. I recommend having breakfeast here sometime, it's really well served and it feels like a classic american café. The staff are friendly and the food is served quickly without much hassle.

Only good thing here was decent coffee. Burgers are greasy, fries were cold, no pizza option, we were desperate after a flight and regret our limited choices here (pastries did not look fresh nor appetizing). Lots are closed on Mondays here so didn’t have much options. Staff are not helpful.

If you see someone else in front of the line then be sure that you're gonna have to wait at least 40 minutes for your food. Ordered a 1€ extra and it took 45 minutes to arrive with only a few people behind me or in front of me. One person on the kitchen, on person on the front, thats their way of doing things. And as you can see it works very well 👍
