The castle stands out as a must-visit attraction, with its historical significance and stunning architecture. (Translated by Google) It is located in one of the most beautiful villages in Italy; Specchia in the province of Lecce, halfway between the Adriatic and Ionian seas. Ours was a hit and run visit, but that was enough to admire the small village. (Translated by Google) [🇮🇹] Italy Castello Risolo Castello Risolo dominates the central square of Specchia, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy in the heart of the Salento region. This castle dates back to the Middle Ages, but during the 16th century it acquired its current Renaissance-Baroque appearance thanks to the Risolo family, after whom it is named. Its massive structure with high towers, decorated windows and an internal courtyard testify to the historical importance that Specchia had as a strategic and noble point of the region. Over the centuries, the castle has been the seat of local government, a military fortress and a noble residence. Today it is a cultural center and a meeting place, where exhibitions, concerts, literary evenings and local events are often organized. Visitors emphasize that the atmosphere in the castle exudes peace and that the past here is not experienced only as a historical fact, but as a living presence. Stone walls, wide stairs and decorated passages lead through a space that still exudes noble elegance. The inner courtyard is often used for artistic events, while the halls house exhibits by local artists, historical objects, and archival material about Specchia and Salento. The castle overlooks the church of Santa Eufemia and the cobbled streets that lead to other landmarks in the city. Specchia is also known for its underground olive mills, which date back to the time when olive oil was the main source of wealth in the area. Tourists especially like the fact that the entire old town has been preserved, and that a walk from the castle to other sites feels like stepping back in time. Nearby villages such as Tricase, Alessano, and Presicce are easily accessible and offer additional historical and gastronomic experiences. Castello Risolo is an ideal place for those who want to combine art, history, and the authentic ambiance of southern Italy. A visit in the evening is especially recommended, when the castle is illuminated and the central square is filled with locals and tourists enjoying evening walks and aperitifs. Local guides are happy to share anecdotes about the Risolo family and the importance of this place to the identity of Specchia. Temporary installations of contemporary art can often be found on the ground floor, and during the festival the castle becomes the central scene of events. Castello Risolo is not only an architectural attraction, but a meeting place of past and present – an elegant guardian of the spirit of Salento. -------------------------------- #2025-07-04 [🇷🇸][🇮🇹]

A truly charming square full of history and authentic southern Italian character. The ancient stone buildings, traditional balconies, and peaceful atmosphere make this place perfect for a slow walk, a coffee break, or beautiful photography moments. (Translated by Google) I can imagine all the difficulties of the case but I find it not very "welcoming" not to allow tourists who arrive, perhaps from far away, to independently visit the few things there are to visit. Practically without a reservation and without a guide, who would have had to wait two hours, we had the opportunity to visit the square and the alleys, the two small churches nearby and the little shop of a very unkind Milanese lady. In any case, the country is all in all very nice and the local people are welcoming. This is a MUST for your trip in Puglia. Yes the beach is amazing, yes the food is amazing — but THIS is a once in a one in a life time experience. The artist has spent over 20 years making art about sexuality. There’s nothing like this. And the guide, Bari, is so so so passionate and wonderful. Definitely worth the trip for any group who is looking for an inspiring, fun and stimulating time in Italy. Just a direction tip: Do not trust google map’s directions if you’re coming from south of the park. Stick to the main roads, the windy road is very narrow and rocky - if your car is slightly big you’ll be in trouble.

Restaurant
Nestled in the charming town of Specchia, Trattoria da Coppuledda is a delightful culinary gem that captures the essence of traditional Salentino cuisine. Just a stone's throw from Chiesa Matrice and opposite the historic Frantoio Ipogeo, this trattoria offers an inviting atmosphere with its cozy terrace, perfect for enjoying a meal under the stars. Guests rave about Siegfried, the attentive owner who is always on hand to provide recommendations tailored to your tastes.
The food was just amazing and what a nice scenery from the restaurants terrace ! Staff was kind, food was coming out quick. Just 5 stars!

Delicious food and very friendly staff. During the lunch service the wait can be a little bit long but otherwise flawless.

Fresh food typical to the area with awesome deserts and wine. A mush stop for a beautiful experience.

Edit: After having dinner at Da Coppeludda, we both spent the night in the toilet 🤢 The service was extremely disappointing, with staff who were not only inattentive but also unhelpful and lacking any sense of professionalism. They appeared poorly prepared for their roles and overwhelmed, creating an unwelcoming and chaotic atmosphere. The food, unfortunately, did little to compensate for the poor service, as it was average at best, bordering on mediocre. Overall, the experience was far from enjoyable, and I would strongly advise against visiting.

How not to suggest this typical Salentino restaurant. It is located in the middle of the beautiful town Specchia, that is definitely worth visiting before or after your meal. I had the chance of eating here several times and I was never disappointed. The service is excellent, directed by a very professional and attentive owner. Last time we had dinner on the terrace, under the light of a beautiful moon. The Antipasto di Terra is definitely worth trying, followed by one of the many typical first courses. They also cook delicious Gnummareddi and fantastic Pezzetti di Cavallo. I suggest to have your meal accompanied by one of the many wines from Salento.

Very average even by my American standards. I ended up with a steak and it was not good at all. Fish tartare was ok. Nothing special about the atmosphere. In US i would grade it 3, in Italy its lower cuz the plank is do much higher)

Ristorante Noviera is a cozy and welcoming spot with a terrace for al fresco dining. The food is excellent, well-presented, and offers great value for money with generous portions. The restaurant is suitable for families, offering games and entertainment for children. The pizzas are highly recommended, while the desserts are particularly noteworthy. Despite its unassuming appearance, the quality of service and delicious dishes make it a must-visit. The staff is friendly and accommodating, ensuring a pleasant dining experience.

Not bad as restaurant, but the white wine was a bit too diluted.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful discovery! Very nice location and well kept. A structure that is more than 30 years old, but which actually seems new, both inside and outside with a perfectly maintained garden. Friendly, professional and efficient staff. We ate very well! All dishes satisfied our palate; pepatai mussels, seafood salad, mixed grilled fish and chips (well cooked and not greased with oil). We will definitely see each other again. Returned for the second time. This time too, a great experience. The potato croquettes are fabulous, the seafood risotto is delicious. (Original) Una bella scoperta! Location molto carina e tenuta bene.

(Translated by Google) I had dinner at the Noviera restaurant, at the entrance to Specchia, and the experience was truly enjoyable. Despite a slight delay in getting in due to a chat with friends, the owner welcomed us warmly and kindly, exuding a great passion for his work. The menu offers a good variety of dishes. I tried the carbonara, which didn't have pecorino cheese, but fortunately I hadn't asked for it, so it was just right for me. The guanciale was excellent, and the pasta was truly tasty. We also ordered a capocollo pizza, a parmesan and arugula pizza, a four-cheese pizza, a Margherita pizza, a mixed seafood fry, and two portions of fries. We also tried some desserts: a tiramisu, a Martinucchi portion, and a mini cheesecake, which, while it didn't particularly surprise me, was still good. The pizzas are good, although I wouldn't call them the best, but they're excellent value. The location is very pleasant, with ample parking, although the surrounding traffic could be slightly improved. One small detail: the paintings depicting the sea are beautiful, but perhaps a bit generic for the setting. In conclusion, a very pleasant experience, and I will definitely be back!

(Translated by Google) Well-groomed, fresh, plentiful and never predictable dishes. Just linger on a freshly served dish to read the passion that comes from the kitchen (Donatella and her entire team). The menu ranged from first courses such as orecchiette and ravioli to very delicate fish second courses (meat is also worth it. It melted in your mouth..). The dining room staff is very attentive to customer needs and very knowledgeable. If you want a formal (like many options available today), commercial and "only" aesthetic experience, know that this is not the place for you. Serena, together with her staff, will be able to take you into their world, into their kitchen and make you feel totally "at home". (Original) Piatti curati, freschi, abbondanti e mai scontati.
