Porto Cesareo in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Porto Cesareo, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Porto Cesareo is known for its long sandy beaches and clear, shallow waters along the Ionian Sea, making it popular for swimming and families. The area includes a protected marine reserve, where you can snorkel or dive among rich marine life and coastal reefs. Nearby spots like Torre Lapillo and the small Isola dei Conigli are easily reached and add variety to a beach-centered stay. In town, you’ll find a working fishing harbor, plenty of fresh seafood, and a relaxed southern Italian atmosphere, especially lively in summer.
With favorites like Porto Cesareo Beach, Bar Principe, and Statua "Manuela Arcuri", we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Sunset Pizzeria - Rosticceria and Principe so you can get the best taste of Porto Cesareo while you’re here. Porto Cesareo Beach

Beach
Porto Cesareo Beach is a stunning crescent-shaped stretch of sand and rock that captures the essence of summer in Puglia. Nestled close to a bustling port, this beach boasts soft, fine sands and breathtaking views of the crystal-clear Ionian Sea. With around 18 km of coastline, visitors can explore nearby small islands like Isola dei Conigli (Rabbit Island) or relax on neighboring beaches such as Spiaggia Torre Lapillo and Spiaggia Solemarebarocco.
Loved it! The water in the Mediterranean is always great and crystal clear. Pretty quiet probably because of the fact we were there off season, but the weather allowed us to enjoy that amazing place!

A true Italian experience. Drive into town and forget your car for the rest of your stay. Walking distance to everything. Beautiful tranquil beaches in a family friendly setting. Can’t wait to bring my granddaughters there.
Mario T — Google review
Beautiful small beach, ideal for families with kids. Nice location in the middle of the city. Water is clear and shallow. The only minus for me is the lack of a shower to rinse off the salty water after swimming.

nice water, pool like. in the city itself, but nice.
Aranza A — Google review
Oh, what a gem this beach is! A filthy, overcrowded mess right by the city and between the port, with litter strewn like confetti: plastic, beer cans, cigarette butts, and food remains litter the shore, no hygiene at all! Also it’s so packed, you’re dodging boats and bodies, truly a trashy people magnet! These troglodytes yell, smoke, and ignore any rules of public decency. This city lives off summer tourists but can’t clean up, renovate and keepin order—lame! Definitely skip this gross, crowded beach unless you love filth!
Al M — Google review
Water is shallow and warm, send is white everything is near. Pleasant experience. The only thing which ruins the whole Porto Cesareo are cars - cars everywhere, the whole place is like one huge parking lot.
Filip L — Google review
One of my favourite places in southern Italy. It wasn’t on my destination list but my guide in Rome told me that’s his favourite place in the whole of Italy. I wasn’t disappointed.

(Translated by Google) They could have done without dedicating a statue to Manuela Arcuri: in my opinion she doesn't even look like her... It's definitely a question of point of view. The panorama nearby is certainly suggestive, close to the marina and full of various types of places where you can taste typical Salento delicacies. (Original) Potevano fare a meno di dedicare una statua a Manuela Arcuri: a parer mio non le assomiglia neanche... Questione di punti di vista sicuramente. (Translated by Google) Walking near the beautiful port of Porto Cesareo we found ourselves in front of the statue of Manuela Arcuri. I don't know why it is there, but when sunset comes the colors that characterize it are fantastic. Her face seems ruined and needs more care. If you pass through the port you will find it in front of you. I would have preferred a statue that represented the women of this splendid land. But...... To be seen without many pretensions....

(Translated by Google) The statue is most famous for its controversy. Installed in 2002 and dedicated to Manuela Arcuri as a symbol of beauty and prosperity, it depicts the then young and emerging actress (also known for numerous nude calendars) in the guise of the goddess of fortune, holding a cornucopia full of fish. What a beautiful display of grace! Well, let's pretend to believe it... I saw the statue a few years later, and it wasn't much, but at least it was new, in good condition, and clean. Although, of course, one might ask, "What the hell does Manuela Arcuri have to do with Porto Cesareo?" Subsequently, one municipal administration removed the statue and another reinstated it. In the meantime, the statue has aged prematurely; the nose and lips have been vandalized, and the stone has darkened in several places. Its placement is quite unfortunate: it stands on the pier in front of the tables of a nearby bar. Strangely, however, the statue always faces land. Which is quite unusual for a statue located on the seafront!

Customers have praised Salvatore for his expertise and helpfulness. Visitors also appreciate the friendly assistance from the staff, making their experience enjoyable and hassle-free.
The pouilles are probably not the best place for scuba diving but if like me, you can enjoy breathing underwater in any circumstance then you should definitely peak Sasa’s diving club! He is extremely kind and professional, i’ve been diving for 30 years and I never had any issue whatsoever during that time, but this day, for some reason I felt dizzy and for me that meant that I definitely had to stop the dive!! Now Sasa managed to deal with me and I could eventually end normally the dive… i’m pretty sure that I wouldn’t have let almost any instructors I’ve been diving with keeping me under the water after having that uncanny reaction…

Beautiful little spot right on the coast, with a boat taxi to the island right opposite. We had a brief early lunch. The food was excellent. Simply the best place to sit drink eat watch people go by and later the sun go down over the harbour sea. Nice food generous drinks and the best ice cream parlour next door. Could not be better.
Steve C — Google review
I had a very unpleasant experience here last week. After paying for my ice cream at the counter, I placed my phone on the small counter where payments are made. I then went outside to sit down, but within just a few minutes I realized my phone was missing. I immediately went back inside and checked near the ice cream freezer and all around the area where I had been standing. I also approached the owner (the lady in charge where I pay ), but didn’t ask her right away, assuming that if I had forgotten my phone there, she would mention it. The place was quiet, with only a few tables occupied, and there was no one else paying during that time — so it was impossible for her to have forgotten who had left the phone there. After sitting outside again and thinking it through, I was certain I hadn’t misplaced it anywhere else. I went back inside and directly asked the owner if I had left my phone there. She quickly said no. I asked again and insisted, also inquiring whether there were cameras in the shop. As soon as I mentioned the cameras, she spoke briefly to someone in Italian and then pulled my phone out from behind the counter ,without showing any emotion or regret. This experience left me very disappointed and uncomfortable, especially considering it involved the owner herself and how she handled the situation

Ah wow what can I say, the time stops here. The view of a sky touching blue sea is what you exactly need to feel the magic atmosphere in this place all the rest leave for the staff and cook. Delicious fish dishes!!!

The location of Al Gambero is definitely its highlight—right by the sea with a lovely terrace, perfect for enjoying the view. The starters were fresh and tasty, setting high expectations for the rest of the meal. Unfortunately, the main course (strozzapreti alla marinara) was a letdown, as the seafood was frozen—a real surprise given the seaside setting, and this wasn’t mentioned on the menu. Service was just average: when asked about the seafood’s freshness, the staff hesitated before finally admitting it wasn’t fresh. Overall, a mixed experience.

Absolutely most shitty service ever! We wanted to book table for 12 people for TWO days during june. Immediately saying not nice way "noo nooo noo we dont do this" and slapping phone down. Good Luck!

Nice and friendly restaurant. The shrimps are not very fresh and they has green stuff inside.

Seafood restaurant
L'Aragosta da Cò is a seafood restaurant with stunning views of the bay. The food is fresh and well executed, with grilled octopus, and two different fishes of the day, both fresh and delicious. They have a good selection of wine, distilled drinks as well as local masterpieces. The atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable.
We ate at the Aragosta restaurant for a business dinner and it was amazing. We ate over the sea water!! The starters were incredible, super fresh food as good as all the rest. I will come back soon

High-class restaurant on the water! Fresh local fish! Great view from the terrace! Be prepared to pay more but it's worth it for the food!!!

Nice terrace with view on the beach. You can sit downstairs or upstairs. Food was tasty, but for us it was small portion.

The view on it's own deserves a visit to this restaurant, but the food is amazing as well. They have an extensive regional wine list, well executed dishes plus freshly caught lobster and fish specials that vary according to the pesca del giorno.
Florencia E — Google review
Be very careful if ordering fresh fish and lobster off this menu. 1 ordered a lobster starter, wasn’t told the weight of it and she paid €66 for it. Then another person picked out a seabass for main course, it was weighed but he didn’t realise the full cost of €72 for just the fish (sides not included). Just incredibly expensive and staff’s attitude was just tough luck, that we should have done the calculations ourselves.

We had a lovely meal down by the waterfront of Porto Cesareos beach, the location was great as was the food and service. They specialise in seafood that was all fresh and tasty, the swordfish was generously proportioned and beautifully cooked.
Jack B — Google review
Overall it was nice, we just felt a bid abandoned as we had to ask several times for the same thing.

Absolutely amazing place! Everything is perfect - food, view, service, vine. We will be back here again and again! The dessert mille foglie, is so unbelievable!!! Thank you so much!!!
