Hellfest Festival

Festival
Hellfest Festival is a metal music event that takes place over one weekend in June and promises unforgettable experiences. The festival boasts an amazing atmosphere, diverse food options, and a well-organized setup with everything attendees could need. While parking can be challenging, the overall organization of the festival is top-notch. Visitors praise the versatile selection of bands representing various rock and metal subgenres. The camping experience may be a bit noisy at night, but it's part of the expected ambiance.
It was great. I went with my 12 year old son. Among tens of thousands of people, he was not afraid or felt insecure even once. everyone was polite and helped with everything. The concerts were great. We watched 6 concerts in one day. The food was very good and the prices were affordable. the venues were like a theme park for heavy metal fans. I would recommend it to everyone.

DISNEY FOR METAL HEADS!🔥🇮🇪🔥 The best metal festival in the world! Plenty of bars, places to eat, water points, toilets. It's has everything nailed down. 4 days of blistering heat with a incredible line up, never disappointed, loads of stages, it's perfect! Just be careful not to drink pints of wine!
Karl K — Google review
Awesome festival, the foos were awsome !!! Metallica on far too late starting at 23:45 till 02.00 !! Food options around the site were good, the toilets need to be doubled to bring the queue down. Awesome staging around the place, loved the Lemy Statue 👌🏼 and all the flames going off. Would've liked to see the buses run through the parking filed to drop off but in the whole a fantastic Rock festival. Nice touch with the beer keg guys walking around with nice cold beer ontap, all sorts of Rock, alternative and black rock, stayed well away from the mosh pits and especially the largest Wall of Death ever.. We'll be back though !!

Great festival. Interesting lineup, a lot of good bands. Camp space is big, signs are everywhere, info stations are all around. Variety of food and merchants, nice atmosphere and plenty of additional attractions. If you like metal music, you should not miss it! Definitely recommend!

I have lived some of the best experiences of my life. Worth the journey and the road. Amazing people, nice atmosphere. Food is around 10 to 16€. Beer 6 to 8€ (in 2023). Event Organisation 10/10, I mean you can find everything you want Some tips : Parking is 30min (on foot) from the festival, very hard to leave it (it took us 2h to get out the parking spot once the festival was over !!!). There is a bus (parking-festival)but we never took it. Don’t try crowdsurfing too much, choose the best moment because some will drop you down the way 😂😂.
Emanuel I — Google review
I am for the first time to Hellfest. I have been over the last 15 years to several festivals (Wacken Open Air, Rock im Park, Rock for People, Lollapalooza, Download and so on) per year in Europe and I am surprised about several things. 1. Where are the water points for each camping ground? At every larger festival, which cost more than 200€, it is almost obligatory to have at least one water point in each camping ground, so here blue, white, orange, and so on. I could not find one water point near these camping grounds red, blue, white, yellow, orange and so on. The weather will be +30°C. This is insane! And it is pathetic and not worthy for 350€! 2. Where are the showers? As explained above, every larger festival has several water points as well as shower points at each camping area. At Hellfest I have found only the small open shower, so everyone can see you showering while eating in the metal corner ;-). I have waited for 1 hour just to get inside at 2 am, so at night. Furthermore it is a slightly stupid idea to put the shower area into this dusty metal corner area. After showering I was dusty and would like to shower again. 3. It is not allowed to cook? Why is that? At every other festival camping ground are you allowed to cook. Or is this festival only for the capitalistic revenue and not about the music? ;) So up to now, in case of camping, showers and water it's a total disaster. So let's see what the rest of the organization of the infield brings as surprises.
Robert W — Google review
Great festival with a really versatile selection of bands to cover a wide variety of the subgenres of rock and metal. Camping was ok, but a bit loud at night - as expected. Toilets were clean enough, most of the time. Private and public showers were available but warm water was limited/non existent.

Château de Clisson, located in the heart of Clisson, is a captivating medieval castle surrounded by charming cobbled streets and an enchanting riverside. Although it's mostly ruins, the site offers stunning views of the river and valley. The chateau has a rich history and is currently undergoing restoration. Visitors can explore the ramparts and enjoy leisurely walks along the river. While there are no guided tours available, it's recommended to take one for a deeper understanding of its history.
Beautiful, rare historical village, old fortress with many towers. Old church, medieval and Italian style architectures. Romantic streets and bridges. Beautiful views of the river. Try the parking at the castle

A great old piece of architecture, still being repaired, wonderful views over the river and down the valley. The original château fell into disrepair and was purchased by an artist who turned it into a feature of the gardens so it's basically lots of walls and very few rooms.

So happy we decided last minute to stop at this castle, especially considering it was a special weekend with free entry and demonstrations. These are ruins, so you cant really enter a building and there isnt anything available to offer explainations so if its possible, you should take a guide.

(Translated by Google) Very beautiful church with an architectural style a little different from what we are used to seeing. There is also a lovely fresco inside which depicts ancient inhabitants. Otherwise the surroundings of the church are not bad either with beautiful cypresses and a work of art further down. To pray the place is very quiet, there are churches where this is unfortunately no longer the case. In short, a beautiful monument to be appreciated in all its splendor. (Original) Très belle église d'un style architectural un peu différent de ce qu'on a l'habitude de voir. Il y a aussi une jolie fresque à l'intérieur qui représente des anciens habitants. Visitors can explore the vineyards with the passionate owner and indulge in a tasting of 9 wines, accompanied by insightful explanations about the grape varieties. The estate prides itself on hand-harvested produce and upholds traditional winemaking practices. Guests have praised the warm welcome and high-quality products, including exceptional olive oil.
We took a chance to visit this beautiful family run vineyard, by chance I mean we weren't sure it was open. What a delight, a beautiful Cave with equally lovely family greeting us. I explained in French that we were from Ireland and didn't speak much French and everyone was so helpful. We tasted 3 different wines and came away with 2 boxes.. 12 bottles. The lovely lady with the smiling face could not have been more helpful and friendly. Highly recommend a visit and a taste

Chateau cancelled our wine tour 30 mins before we arrived today. We booked late yesterday and availability was shown. They emailed early today to say the tour was in French only and gave us choice to cancel. We replied in french to say one of us spoke French and would translate for the other and that we did not wish to cancel. We also spoke to the tour booking site to confirm we did not want to cancel. 30 mins ahead of our arrival via train and a long walk. They told us they had cancelled as the person who was conducting our tour had gone home! This was really really disappointing as we had booked this for our anniversary. We felt it was really bad customer service and wonder if we would have been treated better if we were French. Thank you Chateau for ruining our anniversary!

(Translated by Google) Tour and wine tasting. Our "Guide," a fourth-generation member of the Duret family, is passionate about his work, and he makes it clear to you during his two-hour tour. He introduces you to the vineyards and the different grape varieties that his family has been cultivating and developing for several generations. The tour of the winery and the presentation of the different wines before the tasting are very comprehensive. You will come away from this experience with a solid foundation in oenology. The tasting is interesting because it's rare to have the opportunity to discover so many different grape varieties "by hand" from the same grower. 14 in total! Muscadet, Sauvignon, Riesling, Cabernet... Personally, I'm not a fan of white wines from this region, but I left with a completely different approach. We tasted 10 wines, and the box you'll be taking home contains wines you haven't tasted before, allowing you to have tried almost the entire range of wines from the Duret family and their Château du Bois Huaut vineyard. So, after tasting, I gave in to the purchase of their late harvest vintages, "Le Vin des Anges" (The Wine of Angels), and their "Alto Blanc," which I would describe as a very nice cross between Champagne and Clairette de Die. Less dry than Champagne and less sweet than Clairette. A wonderful discovery. I can only recommend this activity for both novices and seasoned wine lovers, as the guide is very skilled at his craft. I look forward to returning to add to my cellar.

(Translated by Google) After an electric scooter ride through the vineyard (a very good experience), we had booked an initiation/tasting. What a surprise when we arrived: a busload of Chinese people, camera in hand, in the vines. We had imagined a quiet afternoon at the estate, but it was a failure. As for the initiation/tasting, Luis is certainly passionate, but two hours listening to him rant about his grandfathers and praising his production, all while holding his breath because the flow of speech is so high, was a bit too much for us. You have to sell, I hear that, but this was too much. More salesman or politician than winemaker, it seems. As for the tasting, only one Muscadet on the menu, which is a shame. Unfortunately, we were not seduced by the offer and left "empty-handed". Too bad.

(Translated by Google) Cuisine prepared with local and organic products. The atmosphere is pleasant. The dishes are good, but nothing special. There's only one dessert left on the menu! Egg custard! No substitutions allowed, which is a shame!

Nestled in the charming town of Clisson along the Sevre Nantaise River, Best Western Plus Villa Saint Antoine Hotel & Spa offers a picturesque setting with stunning views of the Chateau. The recently renovated 4-star property provides an array of amenities including two pools, a spa, and a fitness center. Guests can savor contemporary cuisine made from fresh seasonal ingredients at the on-site restaurant.
Our second visit to Clisson and it didn't disappoint. The Hotel itself is clean and one is welcomed with friendly and charming staff. Dining on the terrace with its magnificent views of the Castle is unique with the river in the foreground. The food and wines were delicious served by efficient and attentive waiters. The variety of shops, bars and cafes accommodates all tastes. A great little place to stay and explore before moving on.

Very disappointed with our stay, sadly we will never book a room here again! To start with, our room key card didn't work and had to go back to reception to be given an actual key (looked like the door had been broken into). The sheets didn't seem very clean and found some hairs on the bedding. The shower controller was very stiff and had to get my partner to turn it on. We only had 1 towel and that was dirty and had nasty stains on which I only noticed after I got out of the shower so no choice but to use the dirty towel. I mentioned all the above to reception and didn't even get an apology. Absolutely appalling for the prices you're charging! It felt like I was staying in a hostel

The staff was very delightful and professional. The room was freezing, with no spare duvet! The music in the breakfast room horrendous and intrusive. The overall fell off the hotel is more of a 3 star. The building facade and entrepreneurs lobby are shabby and poorly designed.

If you are going to treat yourself then this Hotel in Clisson is a winner. Lovely large rooms. Beautiful river running along the back. Seating area to enjoy the amazing view and ambience. Also a decent sized swimming pool too onsite with a Spa jacuzzi etc just a few steps up the road. Food is fine cuisine (below a beetroot & pork starter and a rhubarb dessert).

Stunning location. Amazing views. Beautiful village. Hotel pretty good. Room wasn’t ready on arrival. Good breakfast. No interior bar seating area which is a shame.

I have just had the worst experience in any establishment that has the cheek to call itself an hotel. On a day out in you beautiful town, we were unfortunate enough to call at you hotel for refreshments. The surroundings were very pleasant on the balcony overlooking the river but the service and refreshments were abysmal. We ordered a bottle of water, an iced tea and a cappuccino coffee, of course the water and ice tea were fine, but the coffee had no resemblance to cappuccino at all. Firstly it was cold, it was poor coffee, it was served with not even a biscuit and as far as I could see it had no more than a splash of skimmed milk in it, which does not come under the heading of cappuccino coffee. On top of this it was only served with one sugar and when I asked for more I was served another ONE between her first finger and thumb. For this they had the cheek to charge me 10-70 euros

The temperature of our room was so hot, it was very uncomfortable. We had the thermostat on the lowest setting and it was still unbearable. The bed was also quite hard and uncomfortable. The breakfast however was good and the staff were nice.

Better than the ones in Estonia!
