Le Croisic in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Le Croisic, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Le Croisic is a picturesque Breton-influenced fishing port on the Atlantic, known for its granite houses, lively harbor and traditional maritime character. Its wild rocky coastline and sandy beaches offer scenic walks, sea views and access to coastal paths like the Côte Sauvage. Nearby salt marshes of Guérande, an oceanarium and easy rail access from cities like Nantes make it a practical base for exploring the region. Fresh seafood, especially shellfish, is a highlight in local restaurants and markets.
With favorites like Les Jardins de la Mer, Notre-Dame-de-Pitié, Le Croisic, and Océarium Croisic, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Le Lénigo and SASU Chez Aurélie so you can get the best taste of Le Croisic while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Aquarium
Nature & Parks
Océarium Croisic is a sea life center featuring 56 aquariums and over 4,000 animals. It originated from a small aquarium in a fish shop back in 1968 and has since grown into one of the largest private aquariums in France, attracting over 250,000 visitors annually. Visitors can marvel at sharks from Australia, Mediterranean fish species, stingrays, and even a colony of penguins.
Great aquarium for kids and for adults! The prices are fair (15.50€ for adults, 12.50€ for kids over 3, kids under 3 go in for free). It's not really big, but still big enough for 2 huge tanks with sharks, sea turtles and rays. What I like the most is that these animals are mainly rescue animals, so there's no wild captivity! They are also expanding right now and will add some new species soon. The location itself is also worth visiting, as it is situated on the beautiful peninsula of Croisic and the aquarium is right next to the Ocean. I would recommend either to bring Ur own snacks or to go into town to one of their charming restaurants next to the harbour. The aquarium boutique has got sweet souvenirs for the kids and also has reasonable prices, compared with other places. It's the third time we went there and the kids loved it each time :)
India M — Google review
A perfect activity for a wet and windy day. The aquarium is well stocked and has many different species with information. Of course there are many small things to see but for impact, the highlights are the two giant tanks where you can sit and watch sharks, rays and turtles. The 360 degree immersion experience is amazing - we did it twice! The price reflects the care they take as an aquarium. We would recommend this. Note - any time over three hours and the car park is charged… a lot! Enjoy!
Sharon A — Google review
It’s a nice oceanarium for its size! You can enjoy the penguins, sharks, fish, corals, etc. There are some educational corners for kids. Also the places to watch sharks and mantas was impressive, like a movie theater screen! In general you will need 1-2 hours there. You can also see feeding of animals and fish at different times
Anya N — Google review
Very well done. Interesting and informative. Well worth visiting and experiencing the under sea world. Great for kids.

Lovely outing for kids and adults; We enjoyed the new immersing show
Nicolas G — Google review
Fantastic place, the layout is brilliant and easy to navigate, ensuring you get the best views of the creatures. Lots of information on the animals and how the ocearium is supporting conservation efforts. A great range of sealife to see - I really could have stayed here all day!! The only small downside is that there is no cafe, or even a vending machine to get a drink or snack, we had travelled just over an hour to the ocearium and could have done with a drink at least. We visited as an extended family ranging in age from 15 - 79 and every one of us loved it.
Amey-Rose M — Google review
This Aquarium is absolutely beautiful and thoughtfully designed. All the displays are very colorful and lit up perfectly for viewing. They also have soothing music playing in the background as you watch the different sea life gracefully swimming about. They have a shark, stingray and penguin area. There are stations for kids to interact and play with to keep them busy as they move about the aquarium. We visited on a rainy weekday so there were no crowds to deal with and you could easily move about the aquarium. Lastly, they have a great gift shop where you can purchase nice gifts to take back with you. If you are visiting in and around Le Croisic France, I highly-recommend this aquarium.

We went at the recommendation of the owner of our Gite accommodations. From the moment we called for reservations the staff was friendly and welcoming. They were happy to show us what seafood was fresh and available. Everything we ordered from appetizers to dessert was excellent. We had an opportunity to meet the young chef And he was able to share his passion and excitement for the food that he was preparing. We have been visiting France for two weeks and this meal was the best we had. The ingredients, the preparation and the presentation were all absolutely wonderful. His excitement, his ingenuity and the freshness of the ingredients were evident in every bite. We will come back as often as we can.

We visited for lunch and we're greeted by welcoming staff who provided very good service throughout the lunch. We opted to go for the set menu of 34€ each and a pichet of house rose and water. The food was excellent and well presented and it was served by an excellent waitress We really couldn't fault the whole experience well done to the staff. We will visit again when we are holidaying in the area again.

A bit disappointed by this restaurant that had good ratings on Google. Chose a menu, the gratinated cheese with "faisselle" was good but too heavy for me, then I didn't like the St Jacques shells' preparation so much. On a positive note, "cafe gourmand" was very good and personnel super nice.

(Translated by Google) A great experience at the flotilla. The crepes and galettes are delicious, plentiful, and served quickly. The setting is intimate inside, with booths separated from other customers. The service is good. The staff is efficient. (Original) Bonne expérience à la flottille. Les crêpes et galettes sont bonnes copieuses et rapidement servies. Un cadre intimiste à l’intérieur avec les banquettes séparées des autres clients. Service bon. Personnel efficace.

Very lovely lunch at the bistro. Great views, superb dishes and seafood. Incredible desserts.

My husband and I had dinner here last week and it was absolutely delicious. Wonderful fish soup, mussels, tuna, and a mixed seafood tray. Plus a really yummy chocolate dessert. The staff was delightrul and the view is amazing - right on the water. Highly recommend.

We visited for lunch on a Wednesday. We were welcomed very nicely and sat at table with an excellent view of the coast of Brittany. We started with 3 cocktails which were excellent. Our appetizers were foie gras, French chef pate and terrine of turbot. All were excellent. For entrees 2 of us had the beef filet which were cooked to perfection with green beans, sautéed mushrooms, sautéed tomatoes and house made French fries. We also had the sea bass with beurre blanc which was also cooked perfectly and garnished with vegetables. For dessert we all had the "revisited"  version of profiteroles which were again excellent. For drinks we had 2 glasses of local muscadet wine. It was a perfect lunch with a perfect view and perfect service. There is a small parking lot across the restaurant with easy access.

Really enjoyed my dinner experience (on my wife's birthday). Food was lovely, and the staff was incredibly friendly - they saved us the best table right by the window with amazing ocean views. Highly recommend this place!

The freshest of fresh Fruités de Mer we have had in a long time. Excellent sole meunière and lobster. Service was extremely attentive, the wine and champagne list extensive...and...probably one of the best views from a restaurant anywhere.
