Briare Aqueduct, a remarkable canal bridge built by the Eiffel company in the 1890s, offers a stunning pedestrian pathway adorned with lanterns. This engineering marvel allows the Briare canal to navigate over the Loire river and is a must-see for its impressive design. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks or bike rides along this grand water-filled avenue, taking in the picturesque views and admiring the architectural prowess on display.
An excellent free place to visit. Amazing views across the Loire River from this stunning feat of engineering.

Well maintained bridge. Nice to walk around and over the river. Adventurous for children. Nice café at the end with baked goods and ice cream.

Really good place for walk or for run. Also u can make tour with your bicycle. I hear also there is possibility to rent small boat and make tour by yourself , u can use and drive it , dont need any license drive for it. Maybe next time when i visit , i can try.

Well worth a visit. Lovely to walk over it and the river Loire teeming with wildlife. It was very quiet when we went and we sadly didn’t get to see any boats travel along it.
Bernie K — Google review
Impressive aquaduct that makes a safe crossing over the river Loire and connects the Canal Latéral with the Briare Canal. Once used by cargo boats it is now used mainly by pleasure boats and canal cruisers. On the sides you can cycle and walk. The aquaduct was built between 1890 and 1896 by the company of Gustav Eiffel and has a metal trough resting on 14 stone piers. With a length of 662 meter it was when completed the longest navigable aquaduct in the world. There are elaborate lamp posts at each end, reminiscent of the Pont Alexander III in Paris. It has a length

Absolutely beautiful. One thing to see once in a lifetime. It's crazy to think that a canal is literally going above a river. This bridge might 130 years old but it's a great life of engineering that shows that when mankind wants to accomplish something, it can.

Nestled in the charming town of Briare, "La Grillade" is a delightful guest house that offers a unique blend of comfort and history. Housed in a historic building, it features family-friendly accommodations and facilities for guests with disabilities. The inviting terrace provides lovely views of the inner courtyard, making it an ideal spot to unwind after exploring the area.
Madame was very friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable and the water and snack that were provided were very welcome! The room was very hot - but this was during a heatwave! The mini fridge did add to the heat so we turned it off. I can't comment on the food as we didn't have breakfast. Very reasonable rates.
Alison W — Google review
La grillade: we rolled off into this accommodation where was run by an older couple. Simple, functional, and spotlessly clean, could be the first shelter that we came across that encouraged the guests to do a real recycle in room (the room came with a small full kitchen.) We decided to have the dinner in the house which was cooked and run by the couple too. Could very well be my first couscous since we finished our Morocco trip years ago. Superb dinner by the taste and welcoming feeling. My digestif drink was free! Breakfast was included in room, and that was the first time when we had a chance to have some eggs yes! It was hard to say goodbye to them (literally too since we didn’t speak French lol.) But more so to let the couple know that how much we appreciated their hospitality and we were grateful for their efforts to make us feel like home. It means a lot to us who are far away from home and on the bikes in days for what we might have to face along the bike trail.

I see a lot of 5 star reviews about this place. When I visited for coffee I must have gone on a bad day. There were three staff on duty and there seemed to me to be an intense competition amongst them to be most surly, unfriendly and unwelcoming. My feeling was that they were all equally obnoxious. The place was clean enough and small coffee nondescript but very overpriced at 2 euros. But unfortunately it is the memory of the appalling service that will stay with me for a long time.

One night stay booked by friends who invited us to Briare. We asked for secure parking and the reception staff told us there was none. We parked in open space next to the road. There is no a/c, just a small fan but new. Room was a good size with modern bed and desk. Mattress and pillows were good. Shower was not properly cleaned. There is a need to invest in modernizing such a perfectly located property.

L'HYDROPATHE is a charming bistronomic restaurant that invites you to indulge your taste buds in a warm and friendly atmosphere. This cozy spot specializes in traditional, homemade dishes that promise to delight. While the exterior may not clearly indicate if it's open, stepping inside reveals a welcoming ambiance reminiscent of a classic cinema bistro. With an affordable menu offering three courses for just 20 euros, it’s the perfect place for food lovers seeking authentic French cuisine.
DEFINITELY THE PLACE TO ENJOY AND TASTE AUTHENTIC FRENCH FOOD! If you're looking for an authentic French dining experience in a cozy place; this is a place to have a sit and enjoy. The experience begins with the friendliness and kindness reception of the owner, as it is a family establishment with few tables, but fulfilled by love. We decided not to choose anything, we gave her the freedom of choices, and we couldn't have made a better decision! The experience was a 101% pleasant from the beginning to the end, as we were the last ones to leave the restaurant. Don't waste your time, make your reservation and go blindly, because your experience will be extraordinary! cheers!

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at L'Hydopathe. Coming from Australia, our French was very basic but we were welcomed and helped to choose some delicious meals. We would definitely go back again if we ever returned to Briare.

We found the service a little slow, but it was a busy evening. The food was very enjoyable and everything was well cooked. I really enjoyed the salmon mille feuilles, but could have done with some starch with my steak. The mushroom mix was delicious, but needed some potato, or rice...we didn't have cheese, but the cheese board looked inviting!

The Musée des 2 Marines et du Pont-Canal is a must-see attraction. It offers a delightful and friendly welcome to visitors, with staff who are both helpful and knowledgeable. The museum showcases numerous exhibits, which were enjoyed by young children as well. Additionally, there is an excellent English-speaking guide available for those who prefer language assistance. Overall, the museum provides an enriching experience for all visitors.
A fitting tribute to this remarkable town. Models and displays are a fine tribute to the staff. Visitors brochure available in multiple languages.

This is a nicely done local museum. Good to tour this for 30min before taking the canal lunch cruise so you know the history and don't have to translate the French, that is unless your into improving your French. In which case, try to read all the placards in the museum and listen attentively to the presentation on the boat. If not, relax, most everyone tries to accomodate in English for you.

(Translated by Google) This museum is definitely worth the detour. You'd never imagine it contains so many treasures. In the 20 years I've been going to Briare, I'd never set foot there. The guided tour is of high quality, combining professionalism, precision, and humor. You'll discover the life of the boatmen on the Loire and the canals, the history and operation of the canals, locks, boats, merchandise, the famous Canal Bridge, and more. You'll find documents, photos, models, objects, and more—truly very interesting. And the best part... the welcome and the guide's speaking skills. Bravo! I highly recommend it. This was a hotel we stayed at while we were at attending a wedding in the area. We loved the hotel so much we decided to come back with the little fellow and some friends to spend the weekend. The spa was also great according to the Mrs and i can confirm that the pool is really great ! Excellent staff and super kind and helpful, I get the feeling its impossible to get them to say no lol. Friends invited us for lunch and the service, as well as the meal were very good. Prices go according to the seasonal ingredients and level of service. To our surprise it is also a 4 star hotel. Next time we visit Briare, we will try to get reservations here for an overnight and a meal or two.

The really unique thing about the Domaine Des Roches is that if you are a family, you can get cottage! The food in the restaurant is also really good! The restaurant is a nice, big buffet style restaurant. They also have a pool, universal adapters, and rooms in the main building for 1-2 people. Pool, Restaurant, Universal Adapters, good service, and a bonus for cottages= Five Stars!

PRICE: High for the facilities offered STAFF: The words to define this item would be RUDE and INELEGANT (Top-Down) FACILITIES: They are not from a 4 star hotel as advertised, example: the room has not a fridge, and if you want water?! You have to buy and take it! There was mold in our room. GREEN MOBILITY: The hotel has no idea what is happening in the green car rental market today, as it does not provide (paid or free) infrastructure for this. They seem to be adept at pollution! OMG! RESTAURANT: obviously they don't stop offering you and selling you a difficulty... that in the city there are few options and it would be good to decide there at check-in if we would have dinner at the hotel or not. IMPORTANT: the hotel's restaurant costs 30% more than the average in the city, which is at least 3 good options at the same level. Definitely the hotel's intention is to make you have an unpleasant experience! on the accommodation search sites there was nothing available, but when contacting the hotel via phone, incredibly options appear. we decided to book a room for one night paying €145... so far so good, but we should pass our credit card details over the phone, something very unusual and strange, that's when the attendant instructs us to make the reservation on the website of them, where several "PLUS" are offered, such as the late checkout that interested us the most by paying an additional €30; when asking the attendant (who was still on the phone with me) if it was necessary to opt for that at that moment, we were informed that we could decide this on the hotel's own premises. in short... at 10:50 pm when we received confirmation of our flight, we called reception to request the service, which to our surprise was not possible, as it should have been done at the exact moment of booking. disappointed, we asked the attendant to check the possibility, as this had been informed to us... when the manager appears and in addition to being rude and yelling at me and my wife, he says that we are liars and that we do not understand what we were told, the staff has a little poor english. If you are traveling and want to have a pleasant experience without surprises, it might be better to find another hotel or rely on the good old Booking or TripAdvisor to have some kind of protection. Good luck and good trip! Foto 1: mold on the door Foto 2: no fridge... maybe do you want a duvet!

Spent weekend with family of 4. Big cottages, with all necessary. Piscine and hammam in another building and no vestiaire inside, which is not convenient. But the place is great and unusual quality for France)

We showed up late and tired and our room had not been cleaned. There was moldy food in the kitchen, bed unmade and the bathroom a mess. We had to wait 45 min for a slightly livable room. The management offered no compensation- a bottle of wine, free breakfast, etc. Avoid this place!
Michelle K — Google review
We are 4 friends that rented a cottage here for a friends wedding in the local area. On the 3rd day, we were horrified to see our double room infested with ants, flies and bugs. We recorded a video of the infestation, which was coming from the wooden wardrobe. Our clothes, bedding, and towels were all infested with bugs - not a pleasant experience. The hotel agreed via email to pay our dry cleaning bill, which was the least we expected. But, a few days after sending them the bill, they then declined to pay. I would not recommend staying here.

Catherine is the most welcoming and charismatic hostess, and the food is so good we had to come back twice in one week! Also suitable for larger groups of guests or events (weddings). The kitchen is a dream; I've rarely eaten so well. Why only 2 stars overall is questionable. 3 stars is the minimum. Like all hotels, unfortunately, there's a shortage of staff. The couple does everything themselves: garden, hotel rooms, kitchen, breakfast, and cleaning. Perfect location on the N7 leading south. (Translated by Google) Cool unfriendly reception. Plus point is the nice garden with practical rooms. But there is hardly any choice on the menu. No vegetarian menu. The portions are for weight watchers and expensive. Not really recommended because of the poor price-quality ratio. (Original) Koele onvriendelijke ontvangst.
