The Natural Reserve of the Courant d'Huchet in Moliets offers a unique experience for nature enthusiasts. Visitors can explore marshlands along coastal streams and a pond, with the option of guided boat and walking tours. The reserve is home to various cultural and natural landmarks such as the mouth of the Courant d'Huchet and the Saint-Laurent-de-Maa Chapel. Walking routes alongside the river provide glimpses of thick foliage, with options to head towards the sea or lake.
Great natural reserve, one can cross the river at a certain place as well. Beware that dogs are prohibited on the actual river side if you decide to walk inland away from the beach.

Parked at the Pichelebe Bridge. We followed the signed shortest path (about 2km). It was a very hot day and the shadow of the trees was refreshing. In the middle of the route there is an observation platform providing a magnificent view on the protected area in the park. Also observe the treebark at the start of the itinerary.

Parked by the road and walked 1 km to the beach which was breathtaking. Hardly anyone there, we had so much space. There is driftwood on the beach which is nice. Swimming was a loy of fun, but not for the little ones as it got deep very soon, and the water did not pull back in the same way as on the public beaches.

This place doesn’t actually close, it’s the information place that closes. Huge lake, camping, toilets, picnic spots & lots of different walks
Tracy W — Google review
Very pleasant afternoon in the backwaters between the lake and the coast. Our guide was great. Really hard work to punt/row and steer us all whilst giving us the history and answering our questions. We will enjoyed it.
Cecile P — Google review
. There are several walks alongside the river (although you can often barely glimpse it, due to the thick foliage). You can start at the Pichelebe bridge on the D328, there's a small parking area for cars. At this point you have the choice: go west towards the sea, go east towards the lake. Or both! Going towards the sea you are pretty flabbergasted - well, I was, anyway - to come out of the forest and suddenly see the dunes with half a dozen houses on the top. No proper road access, just a sandy track - surely they need a 4x4? And as they are clearly holiday homes only, does this mean that they have to have a special car just for coming here? They made an interesting end point to our walk, seeing their gorgeous position on top of the dunes facing the sun as it sets in the ocean of an evening. Well, I say end point - we had to retrace our tracks, of course, to get back to the car. On the other hand, you can go east towards the lake. Lovely and cool in the woods, glimpses of the river, you can sometimes hear the boatmen and their passengers. To go on the river itself, you have to join the little flotilla of rowing boats that leaves, twice a day, from the wooden information centre "Les Bateliers du Courant d'Huchet" at one end of the beach on the south shore of the Lac de Leon. It's quite pricey - €13, €18 or €23 for 2, 3 or 4 hours - but you have to bear in mind that there are only half-a-dozen paying passengers in each boat and the poor man has a pretty hard slog of it, especially rowing back against the current. You generally need to reserve the day before. What you can't do is make an independent trip down the river, as it is a protected nature area. On the lake shore you can hire canoes, pedaloes and those wonderful silent electric boats - great fun and no effort - but there are buoys in the lake with notices warning you to keep well away from the entrance to the Courant. A lovely day out, whether you walk, get an electric boat, or get rowed by a strong young man. .

Chapel
Chapelle Saint-Laurent de Maa is a historical gem in Moliets, with roots tracing back to the 12th century when it was part of a Templar commandery. Although the commandery no longer exists, the chapel has been meticulously restored. Nestled in a pine forest near Capfun Landisland campsite, this tranquil sanctuary offers guided tours on Monday mornings in July and August at 11 a.m.

Courant d'Huchet

Courant d'Huchet is a picturesque natural site in Landes, located to the north of Moliets-et-Maa. The beach offers a wild and photogenic setting, but swimming is not recommended due to lack of supervision and safety concerns near the river mouth. Visitors can park at Pichelebe Bridge and follow a 2km signed path through refreshing tree-lined areas, with an observation platform providing stunning views of the protected park area.
It is very unique and a lot untouched natural path along a river. The walking to the end of the Huchet into the sea is circa 6km hike. Good shoes are recommanded. The path is sometimes narrow and has deep soft sand.⛱️ You can hear a lot birds. The end into the ocean is also worth a picture🌊. You need to complete this natural hike around 3 hours!

Outdoor Activities
Plage de Moliets is a stunning beach destination located just a short walk from various attractions and amenities. It offers a fun experience for families with kids, as the river flowing into the sea creates a safe area for them to swim and play. Surfing is popular here, with favorable conditions when the wind is right. The beach provides good access for pushchairs and wheelchair users, along with ample parking, toilets, and nearby dining options.
We visited this place with Surfblend. It was a good experience. The beach is fun for kids since there's a river that ends up in the sea which provides a great little stream in which they can float or swim safely, even the little ones. Surfing 🌊 is great. There are plenty of areas and when the wind is right, conditions are great. One downside, however, is that one has to walk for about 10 or 15 minutes to the Surfblend camp, which can be a little tiring after a surfing session. There aren't any storage facilities nearby for the boards currently. There are also some shallow pools of water that provide excellent conditions for a sand castle. 🏰

Beach
Nestled in the serene landscape of Moliets et Maa, Plage des Chênes Lièges is a hidden gem that offers an escape from the bustling beach scene. This stunning stretch of coastline, named after the cork oaks that line its shores, is located about one kilometer south of the main beach. While it requires a pleasant 900-meter walk from the nearest parking area, this effort rewards visitors with a tranquil atmosphere surrounded by nature.
Great spot for walking dogs. The beach is kilometers long and waves seems great for water sports! We went on a rainy morning so no one was there. On sunny days, it can get crowded but the beach is so large that there is no problem to find a spot.

The ambiance is cozy and inviting, especially when dining under the shade of plane trees.
Perfect place and great atmosphere! We arrived late on a summer Saturday night and despite the kitchen was closed, we were kindly offered a platter of cold cuts so we could have something to eat (must say it was after 10pm), which we really appreciated. Next morning we went back to grab a coffee and they were just opening, but had no problems to serve us our coffee while they were setting the tables, etc. Furthermore, we appreciated that Spanish and English was spoken by the staff, which is a ++ Pets welcome too, see how happy our doggy was there too!!

okay service, a little overpriced. found a small string of plastic in my food. (it's not shrimp) the food was pretty mild, not enough seasoned in my opinion. the vanilla milkshake tasted weird, i think too much sugar and artifical flavor. there are many other deserts though.

I recently had lunch at Titine Restaurant and unfortunately, the slow service and poor product quality were major disappointments. It took an unusually long time for the staff to take our orders and when the food arrived it wasn’t worth it AT ALL. We paid 18 euros per person and it has literally been the worst fish I’ve had in a very long time. Overall, my visit to Titine Restaurant was far from satisfactory. I hope that the restaurant takes this feedback constructively and works towards improving their service and culinary offerings in the future.

The place is touristy and very close to the sand. The food was okay….to be honest, the 3.50€ olives were our favorite. The waiter approached us by saying he did not have a lot of time before even greeting us. They served the appetizers with our poke bowls(which had a pretty hard old rice and were small) and they completely forgot one of our dishes…so by the time the dish was brought, our dishes were cold and hard. I will not be back. Good luck on your experience.

One of the worst Cappuccinos I ever had. And this for a horrible price for this area. It was quite cold, tasted like a thin coffee with a bit of milk. No Espresso taste, not hot, no foam. This awful broth was delivered to go in a plastic cup. The price for |it was 4,50€. OK Titine is close to the sea, But just 50m away the Cappuccino is fantastic and is only 2€. I made my choice. One star is for the fliendly waitress. Otherwise it should be a negative star rating. 👎
