Nature & Parks
Bohemian Switzerland National Park is a stunning destination in the Czech Republic, known for its breathtaking sandstone rock formations, wild valleys, and frozen waterfalls. Located near the German border, this park offers some of Central Europe's most beautiful landscapes. Visitors can explore the area on foot, with various hiking trails to choose from. The park is also a great place for nature enthusiasts and hikers to bring their furry friends along for an adventure.
It is a magical landscape of sandstone cliffs and deep forests, famously home to Pravčická brána—Europe’s largest natural stone arch and a filming location for The Chronicles of Narnia. Unfortunately, due to a major forest fire, the hike to many iconic locations and trails remain closed as of now. Despite the closures, you can still go to the arch and the area still offers beautiful views and a sense of serenity. It’s a bit more limited than usual, but still worth the trip if you’re in the region. Access from Děčín is straightforward by bus, or car, making it an easy day trip from Prague(Dečin to Prague there is train every hour and takes 1.5hr) Be sure to check trail updates before you go. While the full experience isn’t currently possible, the unique landscape and peaceful atmosphere still make it a rewarding visit.

The place is picturesque and has very well prepared trails. However, the people in the restaurants are not always fair so you need to stay alert. Today we went to a bistro in Labska Stran and we definitely do not recommend the place because of the service we received.
Marianna B — Google review
We visited with guide during early hours. It has path to hike. But it is better to hike in morning before noon, otherwise it will be tired. There are restaurants in top. We enjoyed the view and visited one of the photo gallery there.
J N — Google review
It has a very super view. Some of the trails are still not open since the forest fire. I recommend to get informed prior. At the bottom of the hill there are no trees so it is better to avoid the warmest hours of the day.

We book a day tour with “get your guide”. It was FANTASTIC. MODERATE level of walking. Amazing view. Great guide

Great hikes. Bit steep in the middle but very moderate and short. Totally worth it for the beautiful sceneries both en route and at the top 🏞️

Good place for trekking, aventure and some relax. Anyway, a good oportunity to get some money for authorities (no pay, no parking ANYWHERE). A must if you go to Czech Republic.
Miguel C — Google review
The path and views are great, but realize that you are going 194 meters up to the restaurant. For me, almost no condition, it was a challenge. The video shows the ferry, where we started, the ridge we walked and finally the viewpoint.

Dolský mlýn is a picturesque ruin of a 16th-century mill located in a deep valley, known for its moss-covered ruins and bridge. The area offers a perfect setting for a relaxing picnic amidst the fascinating natural beauty. The descent into the gorge is marked by a forested ravine, creating a fairytale-like atmosphere with pine and spruce trees lining the path down to the river.
Super viby place far away from civilization. I've visited it during my 100km trip to the Germany border. 100% worth to visit
Raman — Google review
Loved this place, very refreshing walk with not as many tourists as some other places in the area. Its an easy walk (we started in the village Jetrichovice) but the mill is fascinating! Definitely worth a visit.
Mária V — Google review
Very romantic place, the ruins of a former mill, in the canyon of the Kamenice river. The sun shines through the thick tree tops, you can see lots of fish in a crystal clear water and the whole place makes you feel your in a fairy tale.

Really Nice place for visit but if you have problem with your knee or leg I would not recommend these place. You have to walk down from the top and in the other way when you back you have to walk up to the top . Prepare water and get some good sneaker for walking ;)

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Nestled in the heart of Bohemian Switzerland, Šaunštejn Castle, though not a traditional castle, captivates adventurers with its sandstone rocks and remnants dating back to the 1300s. Accessible via ladders and bridges, this glorious rock formation offers sweeping forest views from its lofty perch. Climbing through narrow rock tunnels leads to the top where visitors can marvel at the fantastic panoramic view over the park.
It's an easy 2 km walk, in total back and forth, from the hotel "Kortus". The final ascent to the viewpoint is via some fairly steep steps, but they are well maintained and the rails are solid and good so it's an easy climb for almost everyone with normal physical abilities. the final step could be considered a ladder and is approximately 10 m high, so that might be the hardest challenge. Once you reach the top the view and the leftover imprints from the mediaeval wooden castle are well worth the trip. As far as we could ascertain the parking, at the intersection and the three guest houses, is free. The place is not nearly as crowded as some of the sites closer to the highway further down the valley.

Moderate hiking trail with plenty of stairs and raw nature paths. We took the red trail and managed to reach some of the vista points. Sadly, we wanted to see more landmarks that day, so we did not complete the entire trail. Still, we enjoyed the two hours spent hiking in the area. The parking and entry are free. Highly recommended to bring hiking boots and a backpack with basic supplies. We depleted two liters of water in a warm Spring afternoon.

Be super careful with stairs – better take some gloves and always keep attention about your legs. It's super easy to fall down. By the way – one of the best places in the whole České Švýcarsko with 0 tourists (it seems like because of the danger high)

Malá Pravčická brána is situated in the Bohemian Switzerland National Park, offering a captivating journey through nature's realm. The trail begins on a simple paved road, leading to a fascinating dirt path that winds through the forest. Although some areas show damage from a past forest fire, the walking route to the mini stone bridge provides beautiful views and an easy track.
Very excited place. The trail to the spot was quite easy and not very steep. Very sad seeing all the trees burned down after the fire a year ago. So, there was little shadow, especially at the beginning of the trail. So, sun protection is a highly recommend.

I have been wanting to come here for years. First of all the best and most easiest way is to park on the corner inbetween Mesna Louka and Vsoke Lipa. About 4 spaces here for free and more importantly legal. The walk to the natural feature is 1.6km away on a paved road going up gradually over 96m. Therefore ideal for small families with children or push chairs. Once there it is an amazing view and the smaller version of its larger twin is still spectacular. Not over run with tourists either. The last 50 m are a climb and not easily done if you gave mobility issues. Their areca set of ladders to reach the top of the feature. Enjoy, we did.

Easy and short hike untill this place. Free parking spot, 1,5km paved road, only last meters is more like climbing. Really recommended
Vilmantas A — Google review
Our excursion to Malá Pravčická brána began on the welcoming, unpretentious paved road, almost humdrum in its simplicity. Yet, like the opening chapter of an epic novel, it was merely the prelude to a story brimming with exploration and adventure. Gradually, the journey unfurled as the pavement gave way to a captivating dirt path, drawing us into the heart of nature's realm. This trail, reminiscent of rustic arteries of the earth, escorted us next onto a fascinating forest track. Here, we encountered a symphony of nature, with each rustling leaf and chirping bird setting the rhythm of our hike. With every step, the path seemed to shrink, much like capillaries branching from a vein, leading us through the life-giving system of the forest. Further still, the trail morphed into a narrow walkway. The close-knit trees stood as silent guardians on either side, their leafy canopy painting dappled patterns of sunlight on the path. It was as if we were being gently ushered by nature herself towards our impending ascent. The walkway, soon enough, revealed itself to be a mountain ledge. With a sprinkle of audacity and a dash of thrill, we navigated this ledge, the terrain beneath our feet as diverse as the scenery around us. Here, the trail was not just a path, but an experience in itself. At last, our trail culminated in a narrow ladder, a final test before we reached our reward. It seemed almost like climbing the rigging of an old ship, each step taking us closer to the crow's nest and the breathtaking vista it promised. Upon conquering the ladder, we were greeted by the imposing majesty of the top of the arch, a testimony to the relentless work of time and elements. The view was nothing short of stunning, a painter's dream, a poet's inspiration. Rocks jutted out of the emerald foliage like majestic castles frozen in time, silently narrating tales of geological epochs past. Amidst this panorama, we noticed the small, industrious rodents scurrying about, their routine unperturbed by the grandeur surrounding them. Their simple presence added a touch of life and movement to the otherwise motionless grandeur. Adding to this harmonious picture were families with children, their joyous laughter punctuating the ambient sounds of nature. Each one of them, whether tiny tots or grown-ups, embarked on this great adventure with a spirit of discovery, mirroring our own.

Mountain peak
Růžovský vrch, also known as "rosy hill," is the most famous mountain in Bohemian Switzerland. Standing at 619 meters tall, it boasts a distinctive circular, cone-shaped peak that makes it easily recognizable. The area has a colorful history reminiscent of Mount Fuji and was once home to a chapel and military observatory. Despite being unjustly neglected by tourists, Růžovský vrch offers beautiful surroundings with wild corners waiting to be explored.

So I went to the Janov lookout, which is also very beautiful (only those who have Stach from heights, so better not go there.) There are also benches at the Růžovská lookout, so you can enjoy your snack right at the lookout. I recommend. On the top of the mountain stood the chapel of the Virgin Mary, which was destroyed in 1326. After that, a military observatory was built here and then in 1881 the first wooden lookout tower, which was built by Prince Clara Aldringen. After less than ten years, it was destroyed by lightning. Two more observation towers were also destroyed by the elements. Today, at the top, on the site of the former lookout tower, you can see only its remains and a wooden cross. Prebischtor is a natural rock formation that offers a picturesque hiking experience. The 3.5 km walk from the parking lot takes you through a forest, with some areas still showing signs of a past fire. The climb up the mountain provides stunning views at the top. There's an entrance fee for adults and free toilets available in the old wooden hotel's basement. It's recommended to start early to avoid crowds and capture better photos.

(Translated by Google) From this place to the parking lot it is a 3.5 km walk, parking costs 8 euros. Unfortunately that year there was a fire in the forest and part of the road was without shade, you had to walk in the sun, and there were a lot of black charred stumps. Later you enter the forest and there the climb up the mountain begins. The view at the top is very beautiful. Entrance - 3.50 euros per adult. There is a free toilet in the basement of the old wooden hotel. Behind the toilet there is a cafe with a terrace, the choice on the menu is very modest. We took a pork steak and fries (large portion) for 270 CZK, which is less than 12 euros, a glass of cola - 55 CZK. Just think about it, on a mountain in the forest, you can eat for 12 euros, it’s cheap, we’re shocked. This hike is very tiring, especially on a hot day, so don't plan on more locations on the same day. We also wanted to go to the river, where they go boating, but in the end we went home, we were tired. By the way, there is free access to the river! bus stop at the foot of the mountain.

Food was disappointing and service even worse. They brought main dishes before the starters. The prosecco was flat with no bubbles at all. Duck was dry, the fillet completely inedible — we had to leave it untouched. Even the potatoes were dry. Only the soup was good, and the beetroot with goat cheese and salad were ok. The waiter himself was nice and not to blame, but the overall experience was a big disappointment. Update due the owner reply: Your response is shockingly unprofessional. Instead of owning up to the terrible food, you brushed it off like timing and flat prosecco were the only issues. The duck was dry, the fillet completely inedible, the potatoes dry — this isn’t nitpicking, it’s just bad cooking. Blaming guests for not complaining mid-meal is arrogant and shows zero accountability. If you can’t acknowledge how poor the food was, no wonder the experience was so disappointing.

During our two day stay we are here four times. I think that alone should speak for how good the food, quality, service, and options were. The menu clearly marks food allergens including items that are gluten-free! A big plus for my wife. The food is far above the local quality found in other near-by restaurants and a quick look through reviews will tell you similarly. Food was excellently prepared and incredibly fresh! Everything was delicious. Cost-wise the service and food were excellent, about 12-25euro per person depending on how hungry you are. The flat steak was my favorite, followed by the grilled cheese and vegetables. Chicken salad, garlic bread, ice cream, apple tart, fried chicken, were all also good! If you’re in the area, perhaps staying nearby, this is truly a great place to grab a bite to eat! Thank you for the amazing service! :)

The service was terrible. The fair-haired waitress showed no interest in us whatsoever. I asked about the soup of the day, and all she said was that it contained garlic (no further details). When the soup arrived, it turned out to contain pork, but I’m a vegetarian. I had planned before to order the vegetarian main course listed on the menu, but it wasn’t available. No one informed me about what alternatives were offered, which left me quite disappointed. The same waitress also forgot our drinks. We simply wanted a glass of water and a lemonade to have with our meal. After waiting for a long time, we finally asked another waitress to bring the sparkling water we had ordered 20 minutes earlier. Eventually, the first waitress brought it (but it wasn’t even sparkling). We will definitely never eat here again.

Standard Czech food, ok quality. Very expensive parking lot with the price as of one dish :-(

Ordered the flank steak. Asked for it rare. I repeated that to the waitress twice. She acknowledged the order. The steak was served well done. Dry, and severely overcooked. At no point did the waitress ask if the food was OK. Oh, and the fries were clearly frozen. Absolute joke. Go across the street if you want actual food but skip this pit.

The food was very good, tasty, fresh, with the right flavours balance. The staff was kind, attentive, helpful and professional. The atmosphere, combination of surroundings and music, was just perfect to have a relaxed and pleasant lunch. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!!!!

Resort Mezná is a charming country guesthouse nestled in the hills, offering a tranquil escape for nature enthusiasts. The resort serves complimentary breakfast and features a rustic restaurant where guests can savor delicious meals and refreshing drinks. Situated at the beginning of a hiking trail leading to the Wild Gorge, it attracts many tourists seeking hearty meals before embarking on outdoor adventures. Visitors have praised the delectable trout prepared with butter and the delightful vegetarian option of mushroom risotto.
We stopped here for lunch on the way. The place is very calm and quiet area. we did not stay here but I believe staying here would be a nice experience as well. Food: simple home cooked food and tasted delicious. We ordered fish with veggies and pork schnitzel with potatoes Both of them tasted very good. Fish was soft and fresh. Just salt pepper lemon on it yet it was delicious!! Though it had a few bones but i can ignore that because it was still very tasty. Pork schnitzel was crispy.. the potatoes fries were perfectly seasoned and crispy outside soft inside. I used some siracha with it to add some heat. And we ordered the lemonade of the day it was raspberries lemonade that day. It was fizzy and perfect to go with the food. Service: we had ordered for lunch on our way so as soon as we reached the restaurant we got our food in very less waiting time. The waitress was nice very unusual to old town restaurant waitresses. Ambience: inside the restaurant its very old warm set up. Outside it very beautiful with a view and playground nearby for kids. On a sunny day sitting out would be blissful!!

Great experience. We had a 3 nights stay hiking in the surroundings. Very comfortable room in building B and good food at the restaurant. We also enjoyed the modern and very clean spa in building C.

It was a fantastic experience. Near to every spot in Bohemian Switzerland. Its restaurant is a good way to finish an adventure day with a great dinner. And all of this at a good price, what is most important nowadays. Sure we'll come back.

I had a single room for external toilet in the building A for 4 nights. The shower and sink were in the room. The room is quite spacious, and comfortable enough. It would be nice to have a glass/cup and some little toiletries in addition to mini-soap. Slight problem with the electric sockets: not easy to charge the devices. I expected to have the toilet just outside the room, but it was rather far: several steps down the staircase.

Great place to stay, food is really good, beer too. Part A is old and it's a budget friendly option. B is really nice and for extra 200czk would be my go-to place to sleep ;)

Calm, remote, nice area. Restaurant offers good portions and nice robust food for hikers. Bed was comfortable and the sauna/whirlpool area was a highlight. Friendly staff.

The resort is located right inside the National Park, offering immediate access to stunning hiking trails and beautiful scenery. If you take the yellow path from the resort to the red path, you’ll reach the top attraction: Pravčická brána. Entrance to the arch is around $9 per person. The yellow trail starts right by the resort’s restaurant and is about an 8.5-mile hike. It’s a challenging, uphill climb—very intense—but absolutely worth it. We loved it! For a shorter, less strenuous hike, you can try the Divoká Soutěska trail, which also begins at the resort restaurant. This trail leads to a river where you can take a short boat ride (about $9 per person). The boat ride itself isn’t anything special, but the surrounding nature is beautiful. The village and the park are stunning, with breathtaking views everywhere you look. Be sure to bring hiking boots or at least sturdy sneakers. About the Resort: The resort is made up of three separate buildings. We stayed in Building C, which was fully renovated with high-quality finishes and attention to detail. Access to both the building and the rooms is secured with entry codes. Our room was equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay, including a small kitchen—a really convenient addition. The resort’s restaurant is just a few steps away and offers a good variety of meals, including vegetarian options. The employees are very friendly and some of them speak good English. There’s another restaurant nearby as well, though we didn’t try it, so I can’t comment on that one. Overall, the combination of the village atmosphere, incredible nature, and top-notch hiking makes this place a must-visit. The prices for both the resort and food were very reasonable. Definitely worth a short stay of 2–3 days!

The concept of the fridge outside the rooms is great , but you should let the guest know about it. And you should add another way to cook in the room, something like a small electrical stove top.

The restaurant at Forester Park Resort is located in a spacious and clean environment with a fantastic view, as the surrounding houses are well spread out. Its convenient location allows easy access to hiking trails both in front and behind the hotel, although some trails may be closed due to fires. However, all attractions can still be reached effortlessly. The restaurant itself offers delicious dinner options with quick service and a pleasant staff. The breakfast may not be impressive but is acceptable.
The hotel is located in a very quiet and secluded area with good service, but the reception is only open until 7:00 PM. Our room was clean and spacious, with excellent water pressure in the shower, and the built-in radio was a nice bonus. If you stay for at least two nights, you can get a free day pass for the bus, which is very convenient for reaching hiking trails. There is also a route from the hotel leading to the Gate. The only downside is the poor soundproofing, you can hear everything from the neighboring rooms. However, despite this, we would happily stay here again.

U Fořta restaurant is delicious!! We are staying in the hotel, and this was our second night eating in their restaurant. Fresh, flavorful food- Czech classics and other delightful dishes that our whole family is enjoying (ages 9-82!). Staff is very friendly and accommodating (some speak English). We also love staying here. The playground next door is inventive and all our kids love it.

Always very professional and kind service to guests. Food never disappoints! I especially enjoy the friendly approach by Josef and Kristyna. Definitely recommend to visit and try their dishes! I even had a chance to stay overnight and love it. Very quiet place and right in heart of the national park. Cheers!

Amazing hike we've had was enriched by visiting this place. Delicious food and good service. Very polite tall lady Kristina was taking great care of us as her English was spot on. Only thing I regret was I ate too much and I didn't leave space for the chocolate cake which I really wanted to try!

Outstanding service from Kristina. We came there on our hiking tour and they made some delicious vegan food for us, even though they didn't have it on their menue. We could also charge our phones.

After hiking around Pravcicka brana, this was a perfect stop for some traditional Czech food with very lovely hospitality from Kristina. Would recommend!
