Factory Tours
Maison Cailler, located in Broc, Switzerland near Gruyere, is a renowned chocolate-making facility that offers an immersive experience for visitors. Established in 1889 by Louis Cailler and now owned by Swiss food giant Nestle, the factory presents an interactive museum showcasing the rich history of chocolate production. The factory provides guided tours where visitors can witness the chocolate-making process and indulge in complimentary tastings.
We did the chocolate making class and also visited the factory, and it was such an incredible experience! The class was fun, hands-on, and the staff made it really enjoyable. The factory tour was well organized, very interesting, and of course, the tasting at the end was the highlight. Everything was super fun and delicious, a must-visit if you’re in Switzerland!

Great tour with ear phones you point to displays and learn more. I spoke to a chocolate decorator who has been there 25 yrs and he loves working there. Learn how to evaluate chocolate quality and taste and then get to sample many varieties of their chocolates. Superb place!
Madeleine D — Google review
Absolutely worth a visit! Maison Cailler is an amazing experience from start to finish. There’s plenty of parking space, which makes visiting super convenient. Inside, you get to enjoy lots of free tastings of their delicious, high-quality chocolates every bite is a treat! My family enjoyed it so much The museum is beautifully done, fun, and educational great for both adults and kids. Outside, there’s a lovely park where children can play and enjoy the fresh air while you take in the stunning views of the surrounding mountains and countryside. A perfect spot for families, chocolate lovers, and anyone visiting Switzerland. Highly recommended!

We went on their tour, and it was an good experience! They had a ton of free samples and some really cool education and history. I wouldn’t drive there for 3 hours, but if you’re in the area, it’s definitely a nice stop.
Benjamin S — Google review
It’s a really interesting museum! I love how they present their history in such an interactive way, and the chocolate tasting was a great touch. Truly an experience for both adults and children! 🍫
Karmen F — Google review
Cailler museum was a pure delight. There was a separate production line just for samples. Loved every bit of the museum from the history of chocolates to modern day chocolate making in Switzerland. Of course the free samples and the discounted chocolates in the gift store were icing on the top!
Suhani C — Google review
Arriving was a little intimidating. We went at a 4:00 on a Sunday, and the line waiting to enter the tour was already out the door. The way they have their store set up is very aesthetically pleasing. A whole wall full of chocolate bars! The tour its self was very entertaining. You are lead through different rooms where they tell you the story of their factory, with each room heavily decorated to tell you part of the story, going perfectly along with the audio tour. They had a chocolate machine making little chocolates right in front of you, which, after being wrapped, were then placed in a bowl specifically for you to eat! They had multiple testing stations after that, which I loved. It was all around worth every penny.
Mit M — Google review
Maison Cailler was one of the highlights of our trip! The experience is very well-organized, starting with a beautifully designed, immersive audio-guided tour that walks you through the history of chocolate, the origins of cocoa, and the evolution of the Cailler brand. It’s engaging for both adults and children, with just the right length and pacing. The real treat comes at the end: the chocolate tasting! You get to try a wide variety of Cailler chocolates — and yes, you can go back for seconds. It’s generous and delicious. The chocolate workshop (if you book it in advance) is also a fantastic hands-on experience, especially for kids. The staff were friendly, the space was clean, and everything felt polished and family-friendly. The shop at the end is tempting, offering exclusive products you won’t find in regular stores, though prices are a bit on the higher side. If you’re visiting Gruyères, Maison Cailler is absolutely worth adding to your itinerary. Just be sure to book your time slot in advance, especially in high season — it gets crowded fast.

I recently visited the Electrobroc museum with a school group of 43 Year 12 Physics students. The museum is truly impressive, with carefully curated exhibitions that offer an exceptional educational experience. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this museum, as it provides an enjoyable visit for groups, offers free admission for groups of at least 10 people, and has accommodating staff who even provide drinks at the end of the visit.

Gorges de la Jogne is an easily accessible and enjoyable hike that offers breathtaking natural views, waterfalls, rushing streams, and magical pathways carved through solid rock. The trail passes by notable sights such as Maison Cailler Broc chocolate factory and a hydroelectric dam. It provides a refreshing experience in the heart of lush green Swiss countryside, connecting the village of Broc to Montsalvens Dam.
Very impressive hiking route.. We made the short route, in about 30 - 40 minutes including stopping for photos. At the end there is a demanding staircase but when you reach the top the view of the dam and the mountains behind are awesome!! You have to be carefull if it raining or if it haw rained the day before because some spots are slippery.. If you are a geologist you see the earth dancing at this route!!
Giorgos S — Google review
Came here to do the gorge walk but when we arrived at the first tunnel, it was blocked off with a sign saying “due to various dangers, the walk is closed for the whole year (2025). Would’ve been good to put this sign at the start of the walk instead of leaving it until after you’d followed the river through the forest. ☹️
Leonie P — Google review
We enjoyed this walk immensely. It had water, caves, steps and lots of kind people.
Vanessa G — Google review
I came for the first time, but unfortunately in vain. Now the cave is closed because of rockfalls. There is a notice that during the year will not work.So you can not go!

Magical misterious place worth every single step to the top - parking is just fine - leave everything behind and simply enjoy the hike through the wonderful place where you actually can’t get lost physically but allows you to get rid mentally of everything you need - I felt energized after the walk simply worth the hike - the elements can give you so much back - discover for yourself 🙏
Christina S — Google review
CLOSED FOR THE ENTIRETY OF 2025!! The entire hike route along the gorge was closed and fenced off completely. The sign said that it would be closed the entire year. The dam was accessible but not so impressive. Best to stay away and wait till 2026.
Daan G — Google review
We accessed the gorge from the town of Chatel sur Montsalvens and thoroughly enjoyed our walk. Some parts are quite steep and may be wet and slippery so watch your step. If you are careful it's not a problem.

Perched on a hill in Gruyeres-Ville, Château de Gruyères is a captivating 13th-century fortress offering a glimpse into its 800-year history through ornate rooms, period furniture, and tapestries. Visitors can also enjoy a multimedia history show and explore temporary exhibitions within the castle. The surrounding area boasts attractions like the Tibet Museum and HR Giger Museum in town, as well as skiing opportunities at nearby Moleson during winter.
Château de Gruyères in Switzerland is a gem worth exploring. The stone walls and wooden beams give it a real character, and wandering through the rooms feels like stepping back in time. The views from the ramparts are impressive, offering a great snapshot of the surrounding countryside. The on-site museum shares interesting history without getting too heavy, so you can soak it all in without feeling rushed. It can get busy during peak hours, so try to visit early to enjoy a quieter experience. While it’s popular with tourists, the castle still keeps an authentic charm that’s hard to beat. Definitely take your time here—there’s plenty to discover beyond the usual postcard shots.

Fantastic Medieval Castle For me this is one of the most fabulous castles in Switzerland with Chateau de Chillon or Vaduz (actually in Liechstenstein). The reason I really like it is the fact it is so well preserved you almost feel like you could be in the 13th century. The wood is still there which is quite unique. The whole feel is very grand. Bonus is that once you are here you can eat a great fondue in one of the local restaurants. Super worth it and recommended.
Paul V — Google review
Enjoyed the visit to the castle very much, I happened to visit during medieval festival which was wonderful. Spent a couple of hours there. Lovely gardens as well. A great day's outing. I recommend going early morning to avoid crowds.

A nice small castle in Gruyère. You will learn how it changes over time as it was owned by a local count to the a rich artist family and lastly as a museum. The castle is interesting since it has also been used as a personal residence of artist family so there are a few rooms that looks like 19th century European home. You can also see beautiful scenery of surrounding village from the castle and also takes picture of beautiful garden. Two negative things that can be improved are: 1) There is a large signboard in the courtyard for ad. 2) There are some modern art installations that feel out of place within the castle (not dedicated space). Both break the immersion. Recommended to visit. 👍 Tips: You can buy join ticket with Maison du Gruyère or Giger Museum or Tibetan Museum.

This is a beautiful small town nestled in the swiss Alps. There are lots of shops and 3 cool museums to visit as well as a castle. The food was great but like in all the other reviews it's expensive. So if you want to eat cheep stop at the grocery store or McDonald's before heading up to the town.
Nuckles L — Google review
Although we did not go inside, we enjoyed very much walking through the lovely town of Gruyeres all the way up to the castle and admired the beautiful view.
FLnurseER1 — Google review
Although growing up in Switzerland, I had never visited Château de Gruyères before and hadn't even been aware of its existence. But I came across it online when planning my most recent visit to the country, and I'm glad I did, because it's an absolute gem and shouldn't be missed by anyone in the area! Unlike many other castles, it's well furnished, so lots of things to look at inside. Especially the tapestries I found sensational. There are also extensive exhibits that tell the story of Swiss tourism, which I found fascinating. Wondering around the castle was a real eye-opener, feeling like a true step back in time, interesting and educational. One thing to slightly criticise: The official Website is very slow, which can be a bit frustrating. Just wondering whether it's running on a slow server, which might benefit from an upgrade. I noticed this when planning the trip and just checked again now, encountering the same problem.

You can combo the castle ticket with the gruyere factory down below. Nice castle with perfect views up and down the valley. Three levels are open with a descent amount of artifacts. The fireplaces are something to pay attention to.

Located in the heart of Gruyeres, Switzerland, the Tibet Museum - Fondation Alain Bordier is a surprising gem that houses an extensive collection of Buddhist art from the Himalayas. Managed by the Alain Bordier Foundation, it showcases over 300 pieces collected by Alain Bordier himself. The museum offers a serene and tranquil atmosphere with restful music, making it a perfect retreat for those seeking some quiet time.
Such a beautiful Museum of ancient and historical Himalayan art. The collection has been carefully assembled over many decades by the foundation’s founder Alain Bordier, and his personal touch and care is felt in every piece. There are beautiful flowers throughout the exhibit, as well as an audio guide via an app. I feel so blessed that I’ve had this chance to see this amazing collection. Truly a gem in a gorgeous setting in the village of Gruyère.

The Tibet Museum in Gruyères is a truly unique and fascinating place to visit. My wife and I were amazed at how many different artifacts are collected here, creating a rich and immersive journey through Tibetan culture. The collection is incredibly diverse, with countless ancient and sacred objects that you rarely get to see in one place. The atmosphere is calm and respectful, allowing you to really appreciate the history and spirituality behind each piece. While the entrance fee is a bit on the expensive side, it is absolutely worth it for the experience. If you are in Gruyères, this museum is definitely a highlight not to be missed.

Little museum where you can find history of tibet. Buddhism is considered one of the largest religion and its interesting to know its origin. One of a kind idols are placed there and creating curiosity about the religion. Very knowledgeable and peaceful place.
Purnima S — Google review
What a spectacular little museum! Such a gorgeous collection. Though quite small we were blown away by this place for a few reasons, firstly the pieces in the collection were just wonderful; ornate statues, detailed wall hanging, amazing pieces of carved wood. Everything is lit beautifully and makes the pieces really shine, then as you walk from the first small room down a short but steep set of stairs, well I was completely floored. You enter an exquisitely decorated chapel! Three lovely stained glass windows, painted walls depicting saints, arches with painted scrolling leaves. Just fantastic. And the room was filled some some of the best Tibetan pieces I’ve ever seen. The whole place felt like a wonderful shrine, the two religions not competing at all but actually along with the soft chanting music felt very holy and special. A glass spiral staircase leads up to an over hang level with some more exhibits where you become level with the stained glass across the room. You are offered a talking guide as it’s nearly all in french which we had declined and actually I’m glad we did, because although we weren’t sure as to what some of the pieces were it definitely would if detracted from the specialness. The shop is small but offers some amazing books which can only be found there because of the nature of the foundation. So glad we went.

The HR Giger Bar Museum is an amazing bar designed by the renowned artist HR Giger, located opposite the museum. It offers a surreal experience where visitors can marvel at his art while enjoying a drink or meal. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the menu prices are relatively inexpensive. It's a must-visit destination in Gruyeres and is considered one of the favorite attractions in the area.
Best bar I’ve been in for years! Great music in totally surreal surroundings. Felt like being on the Prometheus! Great staff, surprisingly decently priced drinks for Switzerland & brilliant music all make this a must visit!
Leonie P — Google review
Cool place! I had the “alien coffee” with meringue and cream. At 10 CHF, I thought that was priced really reasonably! The meringue cookies with cream was so yummy! Our server explained how we can eat the cream with cookies as well as mix it into the coffee. Had no problem ordering in English.

This is the most insanely creative bar decor we have ever seen, absolutely breathtaking. We only had time for a cup of coffee - served in an appropriate metal coffee mug, and for a quick look around. The bar tender was very pleasant and let us take photos everywhere.
FLnurseER1 — Google review
You come for vibes and friends. The service and the atmosphere is amazing. The concepts of drinks are interesting. Definitely a bit on the pricier side vs the coffee comparison but they are more of a bar than anything. So come for drinks, not so much coffee. So what you’re paying for is the experience and the friendly bar lady and her excellent taste of music :) she’s awesome ~
Angela — Google review
It’s rare that I ever write reviews, but after my visit to Gruyère today, I feel compelled to share my experience. The staff were shockingly rude — while we were simply waiting for a table that was already where the previous guests were already paying their bill (the bar was understandably full on a rainy Saturday), a female server abruptly shouted from across the bar, “Everything’s busy, come later!” Such behavior shows a complete lack of basic courtesy and customer service. I’ve visited a few times before and never found it particularly special, but after being treated this way, I won’t be returning. There are plenty of other places in the area where you can feel a bit more valued. Not recommended.
Daria M — Google review
I've wanted to go to the HR Giger for years. I finally made it. The atmosphere is so cool! But the bar was full and the staff were rude when we tried to ask for a table. It was because of that (the rude staff) we decided not to wait for a table. The museum was great! But the bar was a disappointing experience.
Andrew D — Google review
Immersive experience where the entire bar looks like something out of the Alien and Species films (or Jodorowky's Dune.) Themes drinks relates to Giger and those franchises as well, including a branded absinthe they equip for louging. Solid food/snack choices, as well. Tool-adjacent background music adds to experience. Glad it was open, even if the museum wasn't.
Derek F — Google review
That's a very special experience you don't want to miss. If I knew, I'd just go to the bar instead of the museum 😅😅😅 who was at the museum would probably understand)) Drinks were also very nice, as well as service. At first they don't allow you to take photos, but everyone does anyway...

Visitors can learn about the ancient traditions and secrets of cheese making from a knowledgeable instructor with a Masters degree in cheese and fondue. Participants get to prepare their own fondue and savor it with accompaniments like potatoes, gherkins, pickled onions, and dried meat.

We spent 7 days in Switzerland, and in all the places, we received a warm welcome, except in the Foundue Academy. We received an unnecessary "horse kick" from a Portuguese waitress while checking the menu, without even asking any questions directly to her, and we were forced to make a u-turn away from this barn. The Fondue Academy should keep unpolite and rude people away from your customers, no matter the nationality.

(Translated by Google) I am quite surprised by the reviews (uninformed?) almost unanimously positive... the fondue was frankly mediocre, very stringy, (go eat one in Bulle, Châtel Saint Denis or elsewhere in the Canton of Fribourg, they are wonderfully good, unforgettable). The service was downright unpleasant. Otherwise the setting is really very pretty and the double cream meringues are very good. We waited 2 weeks to sit in an overly bright room and spend more money for food we can get elsewhere. Bad light makes this a BIG NO. Whoever designed this place makes the same mistake all the newly renovated restaurants in this regeion have, too bright. It is like a bus station or worse in terms of the lighting. Very uncomfortable atmosphere in the brassiere makes me afraid to eat the food.

I showed up with a reservation for my family for lunch and was turned away by being told the restaurant was full (while it was almost completely empty) and that there was an error in the computer system and so my booking which was confirmed by their email was not honoured. Love this restaurant. Uncle the owner is always friendly to everyone. Food were prepared fast and it taste very nice. When I miss Chinese food from Singapore, we come here, closer to our city. The atmosphere is nice too, like a back in the day kind of place where you go with the whole family with round table. Our favorite is the table by the window. Thank you for always cooking delicious food for us. See you again for Chinese New Year :)

A rare germ in a small fribourg town! Very friendly owners from Chinese community in Malaysia. Try their dim sum, it's made on site and good, we had the ravioli vapor to start with jasmine tea. And we ordered the mixed vegetables, satay chicken and shrimps, topped with fried thick rice noodles with beef in dark sauce, reminds me of home. The satay is a nice touch, a reflection of the owners' heritage, would recommend eating it with white rice.

The Swiss auberge Chamois offers typical Swiss food with generous portions. They have good service and serve alcohol.
Staff is really nice Food is hearty and delicious. Prepared with care and excellent product

A bit disappointed, the meal was slow to arrive, only water vegetables, not so tender meat and salty sauce.

(Translated by Google) We immediately feel good when we arrive in the restaurant, the waitresses make us feel at ease and we feel that the other customers are having a good time. The cuisine is (very) generous, but without compromising on quality or flavors. And no problem if you're in a hurry, it happens very quickly!

Nestled high in the summer pastures, Buvette d'alpage Chez Boudji is a delightful haven for food lovers seeking an authentic Swiss experience. This charming old farmhouse offers stunning views of meadows and rocky peaks, making it the perfect backdrop for indulging in rich, cheese-laden dishes. Adventurous diners can try their unique goat's cheese fondue while enjoying classic Freiburg specialties on the panoramic terrace overlooking Moleson.
We ordered the “L’EXCELLENCE MOITIÉ-MOITIÉ” and “L’ALPAGE GRAND CRU” fondues, and they were spectacular (based on our non-Swiss palates). The portions were good, especially considering fondue is heavy. As for the location? In the middle of nowhere = dreamy. The staff? Excellent! We would definitely return and highly recommend it!

One of the best spots near mountains, food was delicious, service outstanding. The views from buvette were absolutely amazing. Waiter even told us where to look for better swimming place in nearest lake. Happy customers.

A good restaurant with excellent service and deliciously tasty food. For some dishes, if possible, I would give a Michelin star ❤️⭐️ Special thanks for preparing super fresh dishes from farm products. We're adding this place to our list of favorite restaurants❤️ Merci beaucoup 🌸

Great customer service, the fondue is just divine (there is so much of it) I'd advise to get one for 2! Very nice setting and view. You'll spend a peaceful and joyful moment up there.

Lovely location. beautiful views. menu was limited, and i would not recommend coming here for something really substantial, but the desserts we had were very tasty. staff were nice but not very attentive. quite pricy but not out of line with the rest of switzerland.

I discovered that place with friends for a coffee. Nice view on the Gruyère region (Moléson, castle...), calm green surrendering,... It must be very nice in the evening too.

If you're in the region of Gruyère, this restaurant is a must! The ambience, food, service and views are all 10/10. One of the best fondues and experiences that my wife and I have had in Switzerland. We highly recommend Chez Boudji 👌🏼🫕
