One of the best spots near mountains, food was delicious, service outstanding. The views from buvette were absolutely amazing. Waiter even told us where to look for better swimming place in nearest lake. Happy customers.

Great customer service, the fondue is just divine (there is so much of it) I'd advise to get one for 2! Very nice setting and view. You'll spend a peaceful and joyful moment up there.

Lovely location. beautiful views. menu was limited, and i would not recommend coming here for something really substantial, but the desserts we had were very tasty. staff were nice but not very attentive. quite pricy but not out of line with the rest of switzerland.

The restaurant Au Creux du Feu is very cosy, has a large fire place that makes the ensemble looks like an alpine refuge. It serves delicious homemade soup that it is cook on the fire place and offers a variety of cheese dishes, including 2 types of fondue and croutons covered with cheese, bacon and eggs. Absolutely recommended for cheese lovers and people who want to experience the Alpine vine without actually take a lift up to the mountains

It’s a great, casual place for fondue and other typical Swiss dishes. The difference with other places known around is that this place is not touristic. The place is managed by a woman and to say that it’s extraordinarily well managed to say nothing. They are extremely well organized and provide THE service. Apart that they serve a real fondue which you will not find in a well known crowded places. And what is very important for me, that place doesn’t smell the food. They have a very good air cleaning system. As for the prices, they are more then correct in comparison with Gruyère castle. Reservation required few days in advance. It is always full. I want to compliment Madam Leonie who was serving us and repeat once again that she can open a school to teach the youngsters what is quick and performing service about.

We loved the place and we appreciate the food but the women in charge was rude and impolite. She was talking aggressively to us and didn’t even bother to say hello or good bye.

Had an excellent lunch on Saturday at Les Montagnrds. A beautiful room with a beautiful view of the valley and the mountains in the distance. But the food, attentive service and excellent wine list are the stars of this superb restaurant. Well worth a detour.

! This is about the hotel, not the restaurant : Overall we had a really nice stay at les Montagnards : a cozy mountain-view double room (maybe just a bit short on equipment), a clean bathroom, a friendly staff and a super convenient location to visit the area. In short, good value for money!

We waited 2 weeks to sit in an overly bright room and spend more money for food we can get elsewhere. Bad light makes this a BIG NO. Whoever designed this place makes the same mistake all the newly renovated restaurants in this regeion have, too bright. It is like a bus station or worse in terms of the lighting. Very uncomfortable atmosphere in the brassiere makes me afraid to eat the food.

I showed up with a reservation for my family for lunch and was turned away by being told the restaurant was full (while it was almost completely empty) and that there was an error in the computer system and so my booking which was confirmed by their email was not honoured. Do not go to this restaurant, extremely disappointed and not worth the effort to go.

Great room, perfect size & comfortable. The hotel is very new, clean and in a perfect location. With a parking & a supermarket just in front of the hotel.

I stopped here for a drink because the hotel-restaurant has a great view. I ordered a lemonade, but the waiter confirmed my order as Sprite. I clarified that I didn’t want Sprite—I wanted lemonade. He assured me it was fine. In the end, he brought me a Sprite with a lemon slice. That’s not lemonade. I would have preferred honesty if they don’t serve real lemonade, instead of just pushing a sale. Poor service! I strongly do not recommend this place. If I could, I would give it zero stars.

Be careful. Service and respect towards clients is a catastrophe. It is very unfortunate as it’s a beautiful location. But be aware of service and owner the experience is not good.

The room was clean. The beds were partly broken. The mattress awfully soft. I had to ask 3 times for extra pillows.The bedsheets had holes, buttons were missing, the zippers not usable. The Portuguese cleaning lady friendly and helpful. Hotel is well situated near train and bus stations but very noisy because of traffic. The reception is at hotel bar and nobody spoke Indian as mentioned on website. The elevator is very old and small. Would not return there unless they refurbish. The restaurant was ok. The staff were nice. The pizzaiolo Alessandro did a great job. The rest of the dishes were not so good. The chef Alexandre Royer lied about the "sauce au poivre" as it was not freshly made. I ordered bruschetta and received toasted bread with olive oil and cherry tomatoes, no salt, no pepper, no garlic. I ordered the meringue with Gruyère cream but they had no cream. It's odd as this is the regional specialty. The french fries were lumpy. They often mix-up the dishes, for example: salad or fries missing. I suggest only pizzas.

Very poor hotel..would not recommend at all. Rooms very poor quality, far too small . Windows don't open. TV very spasmodic or non-existent No choice of menu + i e. If in group it's a. set meal. Never been in a place like this before.. .

We had lunch in this country-side restaurant with view of the castle in Gruyere from their glassed in veranda a Thursday end of March 2025. The place was full and since we had not reserved our table we had to take a walk around the neighborhood waiting for other guests to finish their meal. The owner couple are fans of Scandinavia which transpires to their menu as well as being represented in their small shop where they sell classical Scandinavian interior decoration stuff. You are pleasantly received and the food on offer is interesting and perfectly executed. The wine list features products from near and far, of good quality. Very good value for money. Highly recommended!!

A place slightly off the main road but what a charming place, right by a pilgrimage chapel. View on the old Gruyère castle. Very warm welcome. The terrace is a must in summer. Hygge decor. The food is innovative with vegetarian options. Just the right amount of meals are offered on the menu. Keep it simple and delicious.

A rare germ in a small fribourg town! Very friendly owners from Chinese community in Malaysia. Try their dim sum, it's made on site and good, we had the ravioli vapor to start with jasmine tea. And we ordered the mixed vegetables, satay chicken and shrimps, topped with fried thick rice noodles with beef in dark sauce, reminds me of home. The satay is a nice touch, a reflection of the owners' heritage, would recommend eating it with white rice.
