If you only have 3 days to spend in Montauk, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Montauk, at the eastern tip of Long Island, offers wide Atlantic beaches, dramatic dunes, and classic coastal scenery anchored by the historic Montauk Point Lighthouse. The area is known for excellent surfing, fishing, and boating, with charter boats and state parks providing easy access to the water. Hikers and cyclists can explore trails through Montauk Point, Hither Hills, and Camp Hero State Parks, which feature ocean bluffs and wooded paths. In town, low-key restaurants, seafood shacks, and casual bars give it a more relaxed feel than other Hamptons communities.
With favorites like Montauk Point Lighthouse Museum, The Dock Bar & Grill, and Montauk Bake Shoppe, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Gosman's Clam Bar and The Crow's Nest so you can get the best taste of Montauk while you’re here. Nestled at the easternmost tip of Long Island, the Montauk Point Lighthouse Museum is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Montauk, NY. This historic lighthouse, commissioned by George Washington in 1796, stands as a testament to maritime history and offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Visitors can ascend 137 iron steps to reach the top and soak in panoramic vistas that stretch towards Block Island.
I had an amazing time visiting the Montauk Lighthouse. The historical significance of the site is truly impressive, and it’s great to see how well it’s been preserved. The staff were incredibly informative and attentive, answering any questions I had about the lighthouse and its history. Climbing to the top took about 10 minutes — a fun little workout with a rewarding view at the end! While I was a bit disappointed that you can’t go out onto the balcony (you can only poke your head out), it didn’t take away from the overall experience. All in all, a great visit. I’m definitely looking forward to returning for more adventures in the future!

MONTAUK *Montauk: A Scenic Stop on Long Island, New York* Montauk, located at the easternmost tip of Long Island, New York, is a charming small town with a historic lighthouse. We visited Montauk by train, arriving at a simple platform-style station. Taxis are readily available outside the station, and we opted to take one to the lighthouse point. The taxi driver was friendly and reliable, dropping us off at the lighthouse and agreeing to return at 2 pm to take us back to the station. The lighthouse point itself is picturesque but can be explored within 30 minutes. Unfortunately, there are no restaurants or refreshment options nearby, so we spent the remaining time wandering around. As promised, our taxi driver returned on time and took us back to the train station. On the way, we grabbed some snacks since there are no amenities near the station. Given the limited options, it's advisable for tourists to have their own transportation. However, if that's not possible, taking a taxi from the station is a good alternative. *Tips for Visitors* - Have your own transportation for flexibility. - If taking a taxi, confirm the pickup time and fare beforehand. - Bring snacks and refreshments, as options are limited in Montauk. Overall, Montauk's scenic beauty and historic lighthouse make it a worthwhile visit, but plan accordingly to make the most of your trip.

It’s very cool but also very small. They also have the original document from George Washington chartering the lighthouse as president in 1790, which is neat. Definitely worth going up in the lighthouse once to see the views, and then hike down to the beach for some beautiful scenery.

After living on long Isalnd for 16 years we finally decided to see the light house and it grounds. We were not disapointed a wonderul experiance. We really enjoyed the climb to the top of the light house and the museum exhibits. The views were breathtaking
Pierre N — Google review
Tips for Visitors: 1. Arrive Early: To avoid long wait times, try to arrive early in the day, especially on weekends. 2. Wear Comfortable Shoes: Since the climb involves steep and narrow steps, comfortable footwear is essential. 3. Check the Weather: Clear days offer the best views, so keep an eye on the weather forecast before your visit. 4. Bring Water: Stay hydrated, especially if you’re planning to hike the surrounding areas. 5. Time Your Visit: Consider visiting the museum first to learn about the lighthouse before climbing to the top. The Montauk Lighthouse is truly a gem along the New York coastline. The museum offers fascinating insights into the history of the lighthouse and its role in maritime navigation. The exhibits are well-curated, showcasing artifacts and stories that bring the area's rich maritime heritage to life. It's important to note that there is no line to enter the lighthouse museum itself. However, visitors should be prepared for a long queue, with possible wait times of up to an hour to reach the top. There is only one staircase for both ascending and descending, consisting of about 137 steep, narrow, and twisting steps, which limits the number of people allowed at a time. Despite this, the experience is definitely worth it. Climbing to the top provides breathtaking panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding landscape. Overall, a visit to Montauk Lighthouse is a perfect blend of history, education, and natural beauty. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!

A must visit for anyone living, or visiting N.Y. I make it out there at least twice a year. I use to go more often when I lived on Long Island. It's so beautiful out there. I've also walked up to the top of the lighthouse, which wasn't easy, but worth it. Pack lunch, or stop at one of the restaurants on your way through. Its a nice day trip.
Georgette — Google review
I was a surreal experience. We went there on a weekend. You should be there by early afternoon to have better experience. There are picnic spots near the light house too. There was line of 40-50 minutes to see the top of the functioning lighthouse.
Akshit K — Google review
I've been wanting to come here for atleast two year and finally made the trip here. The parking fee its $8 and if you want to visit the museum and lighthouse is $15. The museum has plenty of cool history not just of the lighthouse but of the area in generalm here you'll find cool artifacts and items related to the area. The lighthouse its self its bigger than it looks in pictures. I recommend checking out the lighthouse 1st them the museum due to a line tends to build up.restrooms are located at the entrance begind the giftshop/ticket booth. This is because only a certain amount of people are allowed at the time. Also small children and babies not allowed so keep that in mind. Its 137 steps from top to bottom. Once you reach the top the views are amazing. There's a guide at the bottom and top who will answer any questions you may have. They will also provide the instructions on how to walk up down and down the steps. Once at the top they also give you the opportunity to see the light it self which is pretty cool. As you walk the grounds you take the the stunning views. They have benches to sit and relax and take in the gorgeous ocean views. Or you can relax on the grass or walk down by the water. They also have a section behind the museum & lighthouse about the marine life in the area. Overall it was a very unique awesome experience. Definitely addex to your bucket list.

In addition to its iconic lighthouse, the park features nature trails that are perfect for hiking or cross-country skiing during winter.
One of the best places to visit. Beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean along with amazing view if the coast line. Light house and its surrounding area is very clean and well maintained. We were able to take a stroll on to the beach and we walked on the rocks to get a good view of the bluffs, ocean and Lighthouse

Some of the best fishing LI has to offer. incredible sunsets. better start your trip early because the traffic getting out there is terrible. you can stop at the Shinnecock Indian reservation for some things to make the trip more fun . Keep your eyes peeled you may see some seals.

Very pretty lighthouse at the end of the island. Unfortunately it closes quite early so I didn’t get a chance to go up to the top. Enjoyed the views though, and the beach. Parking lot can be a bit confusing, had to google what the vehicle use fees meant. Still confused, but looks like they are only charged during certain hours.

It's a nice place to visit. The photos of the lighthouse and the Atlantic Ocean are breathtaking. There are a lot of beaches and local restaurants nearby.

Super clean, you can park here for $8 your the grounds of the lighthouse, without having to pay to go in the light house.

Whether you're a beginner or an experienced rider, you can enjoy small guided or private guided horseback riding experiences on the beach and coastline.
First time on a horse, i was a bit nervous at first but the staff were super helpful and explained everything! Trail was great! Such a great time one of the most memorable parts of our weekend getaway!

If you’re looking for a great fall or summer activity, then you must visit this ranch! My boyfriend and I had such a great experience at Deep Hollow Ranch! The trail and beach rides were absolutely beautiful, and it was such a special way to see Montauk. The staff were so nice and helpful. The horses were amazing, well trained, and calm. As experienced riders ourselves we can tell how the horses really seemed to understand each riders abilities. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Montauk! I will definitely be coming back again!
Abagail G — Google review
Great place for a nice horse hide with kids. They have 3 options: pony ride for small kids, 30min trail ride (80$) and 90min seaside ride - most fun (160$). You don’t need any horse riding experience, as there horses are well trained, and follow the group. Though for me it is too slow and I would prefer a bit flexibility. Overall great entertainment for kids of all ages. P.s. no online reservations, only by phone.

Every time we come to Montauk, a visit to Deep Hollow Ranch is an absolute must! We’ve gone multiple times now, and it’s always an amazing experience. The horses are perfect so well trained, gentle, and responsive. You can tell they’re cared for with love and expertise. The staff is consistently kind, patient, and professional, making the entire experience relaxing and fun from start to finish. A special shout-out to the guide who always leads our trail rides, he’s from Jamaica and he’s truly the BEST! Friendly, knowledgeable, and great with both the horses and riders. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Montauk, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced rider!

We went riding on Friday, August 16, 2024. We rode early before the heat of the summer day set in. We arrived at 8:30 AM for the 9AM trail and beach ride which cost $160 per person. There were a total of six people on the one and a half hour ride we walked and trotted through Montauk County Park trail which was filled with grapevines, forming canopies over trees and shrubs, to the beach between the Long Island sound and oyster pond. No one was on the beach only the beautiful sea birds, and when we approached, they all flew away in a large formation. Our guide pointed out foxholes along the trail. it was a relaxing, beautiful day and nice way to experience nature on well cared for horses.

Traditional American restaurant
Inlet Seafood Restaurant is a standout American seafood eatery in Montauk, owned by six commercial fishermen since 2006. The restaurant offers stunning inlet views and prides itself on serving the freshest locally-landed seafood. With fish catches coming directly from their own boats, patrons can expect boat-to-table fare including fluke piccata, tuna tartare with avocado, and exceptionally fresh sushi.
Great food and amazing views of boats going in and out. Service was very helpful in selecting the perfect meal. Ate outside... could be uncomfortable on a cold day, but there is inside seating. Sushi and fish were great. Went out on a limb and had artichoke... often under cooked at restaurants, they know how to cook them! Had a nice walk on the beach afterward. No reservations... and quickly filled all the tables. I would guess all the meals would be great.

What a beautiful place ! Amazing views! Bigger serves than what I expected and very nice. The mussels were beautiful 😍 The clam chowder was also nice. I would have added a bit more flavour, though. I like a lot of flavour. The whole grilled black sea bass was extremely nice. Each mouthful was flavoursome. The fish and chips were fantastic. Fries were crunchy, and the fish was fresh. Salad also amazing. Fresh and tasty. Well done! A great venue for a special birthday.

Beautiful restaurant on the water. We’ve been coming here since kids were young and dined many times. Now we are local in Montauk for the season, we came back to one of our favorite spot. Today’s meal was exceptional and the view was amazing. Many customers were sitting outdoors. Local steamer was so juicy, grilled monk fish was cooked perfect and fish & chips are better than London! Definitely coming back with family when they come out for summer.

We love this place! Have been going since it first opened and it’s one of my families favorite places to eat! The staff is wonderful and the service is great! We recently went to the new backyard area and ate while we listened to some great live music and watched a beautiful sunset. Michael served us outside and he’s always the best! The backyard menu is limited but had great options on it for sushi and other delish apps. Also they have the BEST sushi in town!!
Christine B — Google review
We’ve been coming here for years. Our most recent trip was great and the staff hit it out of the park. We had four adults and two young children in our party. Everyone was friendly, accommodating, and patient with the kiddos. We sat outside overlooking the inlet, listening to live music. It was a killer night! 🎉 I’ve had the whole sea bass tempura and grilled… go tempura if you’re on the fence. The batter is light and not overly thick. I wish I got our waitresses name because she was great. Well done! 👏

We were absolutely stunned by the breathtaking views at Inlet Seafood Restaurant — truly one of the best in Montauk. The food was incredibly delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. From start to finish, everything was top-notch. The service was quick and efficient, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. A perfect spot for a relaxing meal with a view. Highly recommend!
Eugene M — Google review
The fish here is so incredibly fresh and delicious. We tried the Oysters Rockefeller, Shumai (special), Calamari Roll, and the Poke Bowl (special). Everything was really flavorful and high quality. Quite possibly the best shumai I’ve had and this is coming from someone who eats a LOT of dim sum. I was so surprised with how tender and soft it was, not chewy or overcooked at all. The salmon in the poke bowl was so fresh. It was quite busy when we went and we wanted to sit outside but unfortunately they only had limited tables in the shade. We ended up sitting in the sun which is not a big deal because we had hats but some people might want to prepare for that if you’re committed to sitting outside. The server was friendly and nice but also seemed like he forgot about us at times and took some time to come back out to grab our order. The view from the balcony was great though. Overall I would definitely come back again to try their other dishes.

Beautiful setting, great food and service. Easy going and casual style but top quality food. We tested different type of sushi/appetizers and both lobster cocktail (came in large shunks in shell on ice) oysters and finished with pasta, steamed lobster and tuna tartar. And before closing the bill we tested icecream and a banana split! Everything was delicious!

Nestled within the vibrant Gosman's complex, Gosman's Clam Bar is a delightful open-air seafood haven that promises an unforgettable dining experience. With its inviting outdoor patio adorned with umbrellas, guests can savor fresh seafood and fried fish while soaking in breathtaking views of the harbor. The menu features a variety of family-friendly options, including mouthwatering lobster specials and combo plates that cater to all tastes.
Fish and Chips were excellent and fresh. Calamari were good too. Fish Tacos were spicy not very large portion. Mussels in Wine sauce and tomato were ok too.

Stopped by Gosman’s Clam Bar for the view which was fantastic. The lobster salad roll and crispy seafood combo were just okay. Disappointed to find out they don’t have their alcohol license yet, even though beer is still listed on the menu. Worth it for the scenery, but the overall experience was underwhelming.

We wanted to go to the Topside, but was denied due to we have kids! Under 16 can't be up their. So we opted for the nice view / tables on the water. My wife's wine came out with lipstick on the rim. Our oysters were skinny and sad. My $44.00 Lobster Roll sandwich was ground lobster and a majority celery. Lobster bisque was cheesy I think...all in all we walked past The Dock and new we blew it not going into that place. Maybe tomorrow!?!?

Had the mahi-mahi tacos with french fries and fried clams. I can honestly say I’ve eaten better. The atmosphere is unbeatable being on the water. Too bad the food didn’t match the atmosphere for at least for what I had. The mahi was dry and a tiny strip about 3/4” x 3” per taco. The fried clams were totally tasteless don’t waste your money on them.
Robert J — Google review
One of the prettiest spots in America! No matter what time of year, Spring Summer or Fall, grab a table on the corner that juts into the inlet and watch the fishing and pleasure boats sail in with their catch. Gosmans chowder is exceptional. A large, steaming cup, add some Tabasco to spice it up, enjoy! This year, a cup knocks in at a pricey $8. Kind of exorbitant, but when you enjoy it after a nice free outdoor concert in Gosmans green, and take in the free views, it's a very worthwhile splurge. No kids under 16 allowed upstairs.

The Crow's Nest is a popular rustic eatery near Montauk Point, offering a New American menu featuring seasonal and organic ingredients. Located within a hotel property on Lake Montauk, this restaurant is known for its first-come, first-served policy and exceptional dining experience. The menu includes Montauk staples with a twist of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern spices, such as fluke crudo, scallops, and lobster pasta.
We decided to come to Crow's Nest after seeing it posted so much on social media and let me tell you, it is worth the hype. Our food and drinks were absolutely amazing - it was the best dinner we had on our trip. In addition, the service was phenomenal. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were very attentive and kind. We had a great experience with Chelsea, who went above and beyond what any other bartender/server had done during our stay in Montauk. We will definitely be back here!

An amazing experience. The staff was on point and very friendly. No reservations, you have to get there early to get in. They have a hotel in site as well. Beautiful views all around. High end and pricey, but worth it. The drinks were out of this world and the food was fresh, fast and top notch. Check them out. California casual dress code is fine. Tell em Barsnobs sent ya!

Overall, we had a lovely stay. The Crows Nest has a beautiful little property tucked away off one of the main roads. Since we stayed at the hotel, we were allowed to make a reservation. Delicious food and drink - I asked the waitress for her recommendation and she promoted the lobster pasta and the scallops - very satisfying! Yes, everything is a little overpriced, but it’s all worth it and it was incredible :) the pictures of the rooms on their website do them no justice, the king bedroom was really cute and so was the bathroom! Plus, we were just a few minutes away from the main street, shopping, and a bunch of beaches :)

WORTH IT. The money, the wait, the hype - all worth it. Phenomenal meal & beautiful views. The lobster pasta, beet salad, and scallops were all phenomenal. Drinks were good, food was the real stand out here. You can only get a reservation if you are staying at the hotel. We waited 1 hour for a table down by the water where they have a little bar set up with tables and fire pits. It was really enjoyable.

The Crow’s Nest effortlessly combines laid-back Montauk vibes with refined, seasonal cooking. The setting is beautiful, with sunset views over Lake Montauk. The menu is Mediterranean-inspired, fresh, and beautifully executed — from grilled seafood to vibrant vegetable dishes that showcase local ingredients. The atmosphere is both lively and intimate, whether you’re sipping cocktails by the fire pits or dining under string lights. Definitely one of Montauk’s true gems.
Alon J — Google review
Great location in Montauk for fresh Mediterranean style food, excellent service and a nice view. Service stood out especially in this area where a lot of businesses are seasonal. Food was all fresh & delicious. Cocktails were inventive and we did send the spritz back as it was kinda flat. Our sever brought us a different cocktail the watermelon tequila and it hit. Parking is scarce carpool or opt for an uber. Place was packed on a Sunday we were told to go early and it was worth it. Wait times can be substantially long. They do have a bar at the “beach” down the hill with a spectacular view. The drinks felt overpriced and more value was in the mixed cocktails.
Jacob U — Google review
Mostly for the vibes! Really enjoyed the ‘waiting area’ by the lake where you can have a glass of rose before being sent upstairs for supper. Food was perfectly adequate. Always have to shake the head at combining lobster tagliatelle with parmesan. However, it is not really a restaurant for food - it is for vibes and it delivered on this. Had an enjoyable evening and would come back.

Duryea's Montauk is a self-serve seafood spot offering stunning waterfront views. Despite its mixed offerings of retail seafood, made-to-order snacks, and classy summer drinks, the tastefully decorated ocean-view deck makes it a worthwhile stop. Guests can enjoy the sunset, ocean breeze, and sound of waves while dining. The menu features an expensive but worthy lobster roll and salad that can easily feed 3-4 individuals.
One of the most spectacular restaurants in Montauk and The Hamptons. Use your GPS as it’s tricky to find but once you do you’ll realize you’ve stumbled across an iconic gem. Situated at the very end of Long Island, the views are spectacular, the vibe is upbeat and fun and they handle large groups very well. Don’t miss their lobster rolls! Everything on the menu is fresh and delicious and of course - even better with a glass of rose’ - allow plenty of time - you won’t want to leave! Arrive early as they don’t take reservations and there will be a line. Enjoy!

Pretty much a vibes spot, especially around sunset hour. Be warned, it gets super chilly after, and the blankets they provide may not be enough. Lobster Cobb is nice but not worth the price - the fish definitely is though and well worth the penny. Be careful about leaving stuff unattended at the standing bar area - they clean stuff up almost too efficiently. Service is otherwise friendly and they try to be helpful where they can. Definitely worth getting a reservation for.

This restaurant was absolutely beautiful. It is located right on the beach. The food was pricey but delicious. I ordered the lobster salad and a burger. Highly recommend if you’re visiting montauk. Be sure to make a reservation, though.

Wonderful view of the bay side. Food was very good but a bit short of great. Oysters and clams, however, were fresh and delicious. Service was efficient and quick. One has to fill out a menu sheet, take it to the cashier to prepay, including a tip (!), and the food is then brought over by waiters. That is unusual, but it works just fine. Overall, a wonderful place to go, and we were there when the weather was perfect. Highly recommended!

Iconic spot. Great breeze on the dock. Loved the lobster salad and veggie platter. Scallop carpaccio was also stellar. Great spot for lunch

I had been wanting to visit this place for a long time, but honestly, it was a big disappointment. It doesn’t look or feel anything like Mykonos, and the quality is far below what we expected. The lobster had no flavor, and most of the food was bland and unseasoned. Prices are even higher than in New York City. There was no real vibe—no music, no energy. They served me a dry lobster roll, and when I asked for some mayo, the server said they didn’t have any … seriously?! The manager promised to bring it, but never came back. In the end, this “fake Mykonos” spot is all about high prices and low quality.
Mariam M — Google review
My groups experience at Duryeas was not positive. While the location is nice and on the water, our service and experience was very negative. The server had a terrible attitude from the start. At night, since we were seated by the water, the area tends to be very cold. The server kept informing us that there weren’t anymore blankets, even though other guests were being offered multiple. As far as we could tell, we were the only people of color, and it felt very biased and disrespectful. In addition, the food took a very long time to come out, and as for the quality of the food, it was not worth the price we paid.

Beautiful restaurant on a dock in Montauk The lobster salad (feeds 4), and the lobster rolls are delicious Order and pay at the counter, they will bring at the table. Always cooler in temperature, because of the Sea breeze, bring a hoodie

The Lobster Roll Restaurant, also known as LUNCH, is a retro-style seafood shack that has been serving visitors on the East End since the 1950s. It's a popular spot for day trippers and summer vacationers to enjoy classic hot and cold lobster rolls, as well as a variety of other fresh seafood dishes like grilled, broiled, fried, and stuffed options. In addition to seafood, they offer steak, salads, homemade chowders, and desserts.
Great ambiance with lively music and excellent seafood, the hot lobster was a standout. Very kid-friendly with attentive staff. We sat outside under beautiful wisteria, which made the experience even better. It gets busy, so arrive early. Highly recommend!

Absolutely incredible lobster roll — one of the best I’ve ever had! Packed with fresh, tender lobster meat and just the right amount of seasoning, it was buttery, perfectly toasted, and full of flavor without being too heavy. You could tell the ingredients were top quality, and every bite was better than the last. The portion size was generous too, which made it even more worth it. On top of the amazing food, the vibes were spot on. Relaxed, friendly atmosphere with great music, clean space, and a super welcoming staff. Whether you’re hanging out with friends or just grabbing a solo bite, it’s the kind of place that instantly puts you in a good mood. It had that perfect coastal charm without feeling touristy. If you’re in the area and craving a lobster roll done right, don’t miss this spot — it’s a total gem. I’ll definitely be back!

Returned here after 5 years for a repeat lunch on Memorial Day weekend. Love the food - the fried items are crisp, fresh, the broiled items (like the hot lobster roll) were mouth watering delicious. The cup of chowder was served in a literal coffee cup, and I loved how creamy and flavorful it was. Time to return for a third time one of these days!
Kundan S — Google review
Tried the lobster roll here, but honestly, it wasn’t worth the $40 price tag. The taste was decent — fresh lobster meat with a little mayo and celery in a toasted split-top bun — but the portion was small, closer to 4–5 ounces. It only came with a tiny side of coleslaw and a lemon wedge, no chips or fries included. For the cost, I was expecting either a much larger portion or something that felt premium (like butter-poached lobster or an overflowing roll). Instead, it felt like I was paying a “tourist markup.” The quality was fine, but the value just isn’t there. In Montauk, I know prices run high, but $40 for this size roll is really pushing it.

The season’s almost over, but Lunch still reigns supreme! From local oysters (we had Peconic Gold, to seafood chili, fish and chips, lobster rolls and much more, you can’t go wrong! Great service, relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy!!!
Viri P — Google review
Pretty good overall — clean place, nice atmosphere, and the food was decent. It’s more of a fast-casual spot than a full-service restaurant, so paying $120 for a family lunch felt quite expensive. The seafood is prepared in a very Americanized style — not bad, just something to be aware of.

Lunch in Amagansett, affectionately known as "The Lobster Roll," is a quintessential East End-Hamptons-Montauk experience that perfectly captures the spirit of a casual, beachy eatery. The iconic roadside sign is a beacon for locals and tourists alike, promising a no-frills meal that focuses on fresh, delicious seafood. The atmosphere is laid-back, with picnic tables under charming red and white awnings, making it the ideal spot for a post-beach lunch.

Nature & Parks
Hither Hills State Park is a coastal haven featuring a vast campground, sandy dunes, and various recreational facilities. The park's diverse landscape includes rolling dunes, woodlands, and scenic trails perfect for activities like hiking and birdwatching. Nearby Camp Hero State Park offers rugged bluffs, tidal pools, and historical intrigue. Montauk's reputation as the 'Fishing Capital of the World' draws fishing enthusiasts seeking striped bass, fluke, and bluefish.
Hither Hills is a favorite of ours. It is quiet and peaceful when we go in April. The beach is beautiful but eroded from last year. The bathrooms and showers are a plus. The town has an IGA where you can pick up groceries. White's drug store has whatever else you may need plus a gift shop. There are numerous restaurants to choose from. At times, the sound of the waves at night is so soothing it lulls me to sleep. There is a nice picnic area with tables and barbecues and a great playground.
Donna C — Google review
Love the place, not the over burdensome rules for families camping with different members back and forth with different cars

Easily our favorite beach in the Hamptons. $10/day parking, super clean bathrooms, snack bar, lifeguards after Labor Day.

Beautiful beach with a campground and all the facilities necessary.
Jana S — Google review
Hither hills campground. I have to say one of the best bathrooms I've ever seen at a campground. They also have family bathrooms and super large showers 😜.No pull string water control is the best. There's a nice size playground for the kids or big adults. All the sites are back in. There is no privacy between sites and every site is completely open.Everyone is very friendly. They actually have a general store that sells beer. They sell wood at the main office $7 a bundle. It was worth it . On the back side of the main office building they have air fill up the station. If you're coming back from wheeling this is nice. From where we camped we were literally on the other side of the dune to the beach. There are no hookups so you have to be self-contained. There are water spickets around the campgrounds. So if you do pick a site that is close to one of these water stations you might get some extra foot traffic near your site. Something to think about when choosing a spot. We really had a great time and you're only 10 minutes away from town which was also very nice. We will definitely be returning.
Joey — Google review
This campground is amazing. I love falling asleep to the sound of the waves. Every once in a while with the nake eye you can see whales and dolphins. The campers are courtesy, respectful and helpful.
Daniel F — Google review
If you love boondock camping and the beach, Hither Hills State Park campground is the perfect combination of both. Nestled off Old Montauk Highway, the campsites are spacious with easy access to the beach just over the sand dunes. Clean toilets and showers are within short walking distance from each site. A general store is onsite with basic necessities and a grill for quick breakfast/lunch items. Beware and reserve 6-9 months in advance of your trip during peak summer season which requires a minimum stay of 7 days. Also plan for limited cellphone service. But once you’re here, relax by your tent or camper, sleep on the beach, or explore the surrounding villages east or west of the park. We’re hoping to make this an annual place to visit! The camp office staff was very helpful throughout our stay specially Jeanny who gave us a lot of guidance and recommendations since it was our first time in the area!

Beautiful beach, nice quality sand, and facilities. Great post beach clean up amenities: outdoor showers, hot water inside showers. We had some dramatic clouds roll in just as we were leaving. $10 parking fee. Please respect and preserve this gem. Will definitely return!

Beaches
Kirk Park Beach is a picturesque white-sand beach located near the center of Montauk. Despite its proximity to shops and restaurants, the beach offers a serene escape with its expansive golden shores stretching over 500 feet. During the summer season, vigilant lifeguards ensure safety while visitors can access bathroom and shower facilities year-round. The convenient location near hotels and free parking make it a popular spot for sunbathing and swimming, offering tranquil waters perfect for family outings.
This could possibly be one of the cleanest and prettiest beaches I have ever been too. Being from Brooklyn I am used to all kinds of debris (especially glass) on the sand when visiting Coney Island. I could see that this beach is very well maintained. The only thing you have to look out for is either Jellyfish or High Tide while either lying out or just walking on the sand. I was staying at a nearby motel, so I didn't have to deal with the parking situation, which I hear is pretty steep. I will definitely come here again the next time I am in the area.
Lisa S — Google review
The beach was clean, which really should just be what it is and not whether or not. The parking is $38 with only full day parking options. Nothing cheaper by the hour or anything. That amount is just predatory.
Shawn S — Google review
Nice beach in town! Lifeguards were present until 5pm.
Miguel C — Google review
Flat and sandy with the waves breaking at the shore (no body surfing unless you like the taste of sand). Best beach for lawn games like spike ball. On the less populated side for the area. Park nearby closer to town to avoid the parking fee.

We were here to see the ocean and more importantly the awesome waves created by Hurricane Erin as it was passing by the coast. Beautiful experience being here.

Nice beach quiet swimming lifeguard on duty nice place if you can't swim with the stars you can go here no parking permit needed. Sandy Beach plenty of parking rate down here not busy today it's a Monday but if you came all this way and you're hot and itching for a place to swim turn on the country music strip down and take a splash

Such great beaches! I love to come here in the day or night. When it's dark it's so beautiful. I would recommend bringing bug spray even though there aren't so many plants around which usually attract more bugs. Parking is so easy and even if you have to park down the street you will have a nice walk there.

John's Drive-In is a beloved quick-serve burger joint that has been a staple in Montauk since 1967. It offers classic American comfort food like burgers, fries, and wraps. However, what sets it apart is its homemade ice cream with over 20 flavors to choose from. The lines outside the drive-in are a testament to the quality of their food and ice cream.
No frills burger spot in Montauk - quite possibly the most budget friendly eatery as well. Everything was pretty good. The burger was tasty and pretty decently sized. Fries were tasty but a little over done, The Fish and Chips were good, and the Buffalo Chicken Wrap was flavorful. Jalapeño Poppers were cheddar cheese - so know before you order. The Mozzarella Sticks were not bad either. Solid meal. Only quam was the bathroom - only one and the lock apparently isn't the greatest. Anyway, I'd visit again. If you're not a fan of kids or dislike loud... this is not your place, or at least not your place to eat in. It's loud, really loud. That being said, it is recommended.

I stopped by for ice cream two days in a row, and it was worth it! A fun little spot in Montauk with friendly staff who recommended the Oreo Mint, which was spot on. They offer several creative homemade flavors, and each one is tempting. Easily my go-to place for ice cream in Montauk.
Anisa S — Google review
Be prepared for long line if your going at night. You’ll be lucky if you get your order in within 10 minutes, but they move fast. Burger disappointed me but onion rings and ice cream were good. I would call their prices cheap based on the fact that we’re in Montauk, except for the soft serve which is definitely overpriced. Good place to go if you don’t mind the line.
Jacques B — Google review
Amazing icecream but the ordering system is a little unorganized. People would come in from two doors and would mess up the line of first come first serve. They should close the middle door and tell people to come in from the left. On the other hand the icecream was very good.

Amazing ice cream flavors, i got the strawberry oreo it was soo good! I also had their burger and it was delicious. Would definitely recommend and come back. It’s probably one of the most affordable foods in the area and it’s still great quality. The place had a retro vibe it was so nice. They have indoor and outdoor seating.

Bakery
Montauk Bake Shoppe is a laid-back bakery known for its homemade breads, pastries, breakfast staples, and Italian sandwiches. This Montauk institution bakes everything from scratch on the premises and offers a wide variety of classic bakery items alongside specialties like rugelach, quiche, and exotic cookie creations. In addition to cookies and cakes, they also serve breakfast sandwiches and lunch wraps that are perfect for a beach picnic.
You must get their jelly crossiants! 50 years in the making. I got a full box of goodies and was not disappointed. I’ve tried their plain crumb cake, blueberry crumb cake, BB muffin, rainbow cookie cookie, chocolate cookie scone. All were great!

Iconic place in Montauk. We’ve been coming here for over two decades to have jelly croissants and donuts with coffee in the morning. Looks like they offer a full breakfast with more menu items now, but I have not tried. They are usually very busy and have a long line. Decaf coffee was fresh even in the afternoon . We took it to the beach and ate jelly donut and croissants with coffee. We ate all the donuts before taking pictures. That’s how good it is.

I ordered Dubai chocolate pancakes with a sausage egg and cheese sandwich and found glass in my food! When I returned to the store with the glass and receipt I was laughed at and told they don’t use glass. Which is interesting because if so I would not have bit into glass. Given only partial refund. Terrible service will not be returning or recommending to people.

So I've come here several times and I always order the Melanzana sandwich with fried eggplant, mozzarella, roasted red peppers, and avocado. It's totally worth the price and is super filling and delicious. Considering how expensive everything right now I think this place is very fair. The jelly donuts and chocolate crumb cake are great too.

OMG!! Change in jelly croissants!! Fourth visit in 2025 confirmed a change in the jelly used to fill these spectacular creations. The delicious dough is still the same but the wonderful filling has dropped from a strong 10 to a weak 8. The world has come to an end. WHY CHANGE PERFECTION?

Love this bakery been going here for the last 25 years best jelly croissants and best Bavarian creme croissants 🥐 great cookies and coffee the linzer tarts and fish sprinkle cookies are awesome also great customer service. First Time in Montauk and was told this is the bakery to try. Very busy , great assortment. Reminds me of bakerys at home in CT. Just smelled of delish, and kept asking does this has nuts and the answer was always no. I have a nut allery so I was happy there was a selection. We got 2 apple pie muffins and a lemon poppy seed muffin. Oh the apple pie muffin was just like apple pie with a crumb topping. Super yummy. Definitely a redo place if we are ever back in town. It was wheel chair accessible even though it was tight but doable. When I opened the box that had my muffins it says you deserve the best taste. Gave me a smile.

Seafood restaurant
MTK Lobster House is a casual seafood restaurant with a beachy vibe, offering a variety of dishes such as lobster rolls, fish tacos, fish & chips, and build-your-own burgers. Established in March 2018, it has two locations in downtown and Sag Harbor. The restaurant provides indoor and outdoor seating options. Customers have praised the fresh and flavorful food with appropriate portion sizes.
This restaurant is located kind of in an odd spot (upstairs of a donut store) and on the west side of town. We visited on a Saturday night around 5:30p and there was no one in the restaurant. As we were sitting inside in the AC, a few more parties came. All the work staff was very nice and attentive the entire duration of our visit. Right away brought us a pitcher of tap water and glasses. When we finished that pitcher, not even a minute later, a new and cold fresh pitcher arrived. We ordered the crispy calamari to start, which is served with a Thai sauce and a marinara sauce. The calamari was so tasty and the Thai sauce.. yum! We could’ve licked that Thai sauce clean. We ordered the cold lobster roll (which on the menu is named something different) and it comes with chips. The chips were actually fries, but these were the best French fries I think we’ve ever had. Thin and crispy and flavorful. I like to describe the fries like the McDonald’s kind, but gourmet! Also ordered the gooey lobster melt, with was practically a lobster grilled cheese. Wasn’t expecting that but also didn’t hate it, but the three types of cheese really did the sandwich so well. Like mentioned before, all the staff was very attentive and caring, and would recommend this place over and over again.

The food was absolutely delicious! I visited with a party of four, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The lobster roll, clam chowder, and crab bisque were all exceptional. Our waitress was wonderful, even though she was very busy, she provided attentive and friendly service. We truly enjoyed having lunch here and I would definitely return. Highly recommend!

Had an amazing dining experience at MTK Lobster House in Montauk! I opted for the Surf & Turf Burger while my wife enjoyed the Montauk Lobster Roll, and both dishes were exceptional. The flavors were spot on, and you could really taste the quality of the ingredients. The ambiance and service were equally impressive. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a top-notch meal in Montauk! 🌊🦞🍔

While seating is somewhat limited, the food is fresh and flavorful. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive. It was so good we cancelled plans for a different restaurant and ate here a second time during our extended weekend stay.

Came specifically for lobster bisque. We were seated immediately. After ordering drinks they told us they were out of lobster bisque. It was a Saturday night in July so we were pretty disappointed that a lobster house was out of lobster bisque. We asked to sit at the bar and were told they don’t really seat people at the bar because they only serve beer and wine.
Matthew G — Google review
I really looked forward to trying the lobster roll here but was left disappointed by the meal considering the prices. The signature lobster roll was a bit bland - the most memorable flavor being too buttery. I wish the butteriness could’ve complimented the lobster better instead of being the main flavor. The calamari was pretty average, but the sauces it came with were a good touch.
Rachel Z — Google review
I was looking for a good lobster roll. The lobster roll here was so fresh tasting, just delicious! Fries were amazing too, crispy. This is more of a casual/cute dining spot. The burger was great too.

Nice place. Came with our own file fish and got refused by manager. Even though we are loyal customers for many many years. So left the file aside and ordered meal from the menu. Love Montauk beer. This place has wine and beer only. Tacos were delicious. Mussels were in butter and garlic sauce. In average it is a good place to come. Very great service by waitress. Thank you for that. The only one thing I had to tell the girl who was bringing the plates was to cover nose with a mask. Cause the mask covered only her mouth.

Sel Rrose Montauk is a charming restaurant and bar that pays homage to the moody romance of early 20th century Paris. The menu offers a rotating selection of fresh oysters and well-crafted French-inspired dishes. The bar features an array of French-focused cocktails, premium spirits, natural wines, and select beers. With its stunning black-and-white chic decor, this spot is perfect for intimate celebrations or romantic dates.
I don’t understand how anyone can come here and not rate it 5 stars. Sel Rrose is consistently delicious. The truffle fries are incredible. I’ve had the salmon over the past few years of coming here in so many ways, and I swear it’s better every time. Oysters Rockefeller was incredible. The short rib was amazing. We will definitely be back!

What a wonderful dining experience. The hostess Karen was extremely pleasant, the servers ( there were a few) were very attentive and very friendly. The food was AMAZING. The chef, Shawn Hewitt, definitely hit the ball out of the park.. The appetizers right through to dessert, every bite was more amazing than the last. And the cocktails were delicious and refreshing. Can’t wait to return.

Beautiful and cozy ambiance with unique decor. From the monochrome murals spanning the walls and ceiling, to the symmetric yet mismatched chairs , everything was just perfect (even the bathroom had a beautiful design). drinks menu was fantastic and the food was perfect. The staff and their small dessert menu were just like a perfect icing to a great evening. We had Braised Short Ribs and Lobster Salad and Oysters Drinks: Frozen Painkiller & Frose Big Thank You to the warm, nice, and great staff ... ps. Shout-out to the DJ (or person in charge of music)

A really beautiful place to enjoy some delicious seafood. The appetizers and drinks were amazing and essential to the experience. The oysters were fresh and the truffle fries were perfectly seasoned. The portions were generous for the price. The entrees we got (mussels and shrimp chorizo cazuela) were good, but paled in comparison to the appetizers.

We had a great meal with a large group. We each ordered apps and meals from the menu and enjoyed all the items. We were celebrating a milestone birthday and they made the most delicious Gluten Free cake! Our server was attentive and welcoming. The drinks were timely and it was a memorable evening. I would recommend it and we hope to return.

My girlfriend and I were only here in Montauk for 3 days and 2 nights. I have celiac disease and my girlfriend is gluten intolerant. We found this place using the app Find Me Gluten-Free. Thank God we did. This restaurant is absolutely the best. It was so good the 1st night we had to back our 2nd night. There menu has a very nice variety of options for gluten free and the staff is very informed about the necessary precautions to take about cross-contaminations. There blackened skirt steak is a must have. Absolutely delicious. Their Gluten-Free chicken bites for an app is definitely the best chicken bites I've ever had. Such a delicious recipe with alittle heat. This Restaurant will definitely be my go to from now on when we visit Montauk every yr.

We came to South Edison for a night that was part goodbye, part birthday, and all-around needed. Sterling and Liz were amazing — genuinely kind, attentive, and made us feel totally taken care of. The Brie bites were unreal, the crab empanadas might’ve started a fork fight, and the Mezze tacos were one of those dishes you think about the next day. Great cocktails, great people, and the kind of dinner that reminds you why you love Montauk so much.

The yellowfin tuna main course was delicious and highly recommended. We also tried the sashimi fluke, which was good and had a little bit of spice to it. They have excellent cocktails. I liked the Better Decision cocktail better than the Froey. Relaxed environment and attentive service. It was nice that gluten free and vegan options are marked clearly on the menu.

That was the best burger I've ever eaten in my life. It was the South Ed burger. I'm sitting at the table in South Edison right now and I could not even hesitate to leave a review. With my boys on a bachelor trip and the service was A+ and the food from the beginning to the end was excellent. High recommend and will be coming back with my girlfriend.

Awesome! The drinks were great. Especially the espresso martini. Definitely get the duck fat fries. I wanted to eat all of them in one sitting but wanted to save room for dinner. The seared ahi tuna was great! Good vibes and attentive service.

Best food in Montauk imo!! I think about their seared scallop dish all year, it’s the best! We love the fluke sashimi and tuna crudo for apps. For entrees try the scallops, seared tuna, burger, pork chop parm or crispy duck legs. Cocktails are well-crafted and delicious. I had the Alone Thyme and MTK Temptation and would highly recommend both. I can’t wait until we visit South Edison again next summer.

The Clam Bar at Napeague is a charming fish shack with a bar and patio, open from April to November. This iconic red and white roadside shack offers a variety of seafood classics, including Local Steamers, Clam Strips, Lobster BLT, Lobster Salad Roll, and Two-Pound Montauk Lobster. With 41 years of history, it has become a culinary staple between Amagansett and Montauk.
Had the classic lobster roll and fries—so good! The vibe here is just great, and the lobster roll was perfectly generous (definitely worth the price) and delicious. You really can’t go wrong. Plus, the team is incredibly warm and welcoming.

Had a great dinner with my family! The atmosphere was welcoming, with friendly staff and a kid-friendly vibe. Nice music added to the experience, and the service was excellent. The tuna steak sandwich was a standout, highly recommend it!

A really great place to eat. We had fried calamari as an appetizer then lobster roll. The bread was toasted with butter. My son had chicken tender with fries. Overall it was good.

Very nice place! Good and fresh seafood. Unfortunately I was sure that they would be selling local lobster... Their lobster is being imported from Maine and it was 45$...which would be a reasonable price if I couldn't have a bigger portion in Maine for not even half the price. But overall a good experience with tasty (but pricey) food!

Clam chowder was great very tasty, the fresh clam was interestingly warm which is kinda weird to my liking and lobster roll was meh.. the bread was already soggy so it’s not really a great texture. The wait was not bad, we waited for 20-25minutes. Service was great and very fast.
Alicelyfee — Google review
So there was a 15 minute wait for a table which was no big deal. The hostess was very friendly and kind. Our waitress - not so kind after we did not order alcoholic beverages. She did not even check on us once. When we were waiting for a table we were looking at menus in which we thought stated the lobster rolls came with french fries. We ordered two lobster rolls. I flagged down our waitress to ask about if the lobster rolls came with fries and with the biggest attitude she was like “ummmm NO” and rushed away. Not “no, sorry it doesn’t come with french fries but do you want a side of fries?” It was so rude, dismissive, and belittling the way she said it. She could not be bothered with us after we didn’t order alcoholic drinks to “up” the bill. It was like we were taking up her table she did not want to serve. When we first sat down the whole table was very sticky so i had to align the edge of the table with napkins. (how ickkkk!) The rest of the waitresses/water boy were very kind and attentive when I asked for our check. I was going to purchase a hat but it’s safe to say I will not be returning here due to poor service and the lobster rolls were not great, average but nothing to write home about. The lobster was overcooked, tasteless and i was constantly taking shells out of my mouth every time i bit down into it. Served on a regular hot dog bun that was soggy drenched in butter. Theres better places to go, with better quality and less expensive. As a foodie, I was just not impressed.

I was sitting in my car, dealing with a little anxiety, when a man suddenly appeared and started yelling at a woman trying to park next to me. At first, I wasn’t sure if he was serious or if they knew each other. Then I noticed her young daughter was still sitting in the car while he continued to yell at her mother. After the woman walked into the bar area, he turned his back then immediately spun around and started yelling at her again, saying she wasn’t allowed to order food. She kept apologizing, and that’s when I realized: this man wasn’t a friend he was being a complete bully. I got out of my car and joined my two girlfriends at a nearby table. One of them turned to him and said, “We’re not paying for our food until she gets hers.” He quickly stormed off. We spoke with the employees and learned that this man John and he is the husband of the woman who originally owned this historic place. Honestly, I hope she throws him out. I can’t imagine how he treats her behind closed doors. The staff even told us he talks to them the same way. John, if you see this get help. You showed the most narcissistic, public display of verbal abuse I’ve ever witnessed. Shame on you. That restaurant, and everyone in it, deserves better. Especially that woman and her daughter.

It might have been a bad day or a bad batch but this Lobster made me violently sick. As someone who has traveled to countries like China and Brazil to eat all sorts of amazing unique foods, I don't often get sick at all. Even if I ate something bad chances are it will not impact me that much. However, after having dinner here I ran a fever and could not stop vomiting. This was followed up by a couple more days of feeling very sick and this almost ruined my Labor Day weekend. Sadly when I called to tell the restaurant they offered me a partial refund on the lobster only however it did not give me a full refund. It was the worst experience I've ever had eating lobster.

For day 3, we recommend exploring the north side side of town. Start the day off with Gosman's Restaurant, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Navy Beach Restaurant, Montauk | Seafood Restaurant. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Nestled along the picturesque Montauk waterfront, Gosman's Restaurant is a beloved seafood destination that has been delighting visitors since 1943. This charming eatery offers a variety of dining experiences, including a casual cafe, an inviting clam bar, and a stunning rooftop deck where you can soak in breathtaking views while savoring fresh local seafood.
We thought this was a wonderful lunchtime dining experience. Beautiful views from the deck watching the boats putter in and out of the harbor. We each had excellent entrees; I especially enjoyed the lobster roll. Fairly reasonable prices for quality island eats. Service a tad slow but it didn't detract from the overall experience. Warm sun, cool breeze, and a cold beer. Couldn't be better! We'll definitely be back when we're in the area.

Wish I could give a half star. Horrible customer service. The only good aspect of this restaurant is the atmosphere. 1. The fried calamari and muscles were great apps but size was VERY small for the price. 2. Meals (shrimp scampi, stuffed shrimp and salmon) were flavorless. Each entree lacked flavor—rice tasted like Minute rice, and veggies were bland. The fish lacked flavor which was extremely disappointing considering it’s a seafood restaurant. Asked for something to improve flavor but this did not help. When asking to speak to the manager, he simply told me “there was nothing he could do” since half of the meal was consumed (we were hungry so had no choice). Said if we come back, he would accommodate us—which I told him we would not be because traveled 2.5 hours. I asked if anything could be done, such as comp a dessert or something and he said again nothing he could do. For a party of 12, this was extremely disappointing and not handled well by management, named Chris. Do NOT recommend this establish at all, save your money and go elsewhere.

Such a nice cozy restaurant with great dishes and nice service! I loved their outdoor seating, they had good shaded area for seating. I chose the fish (can't remember which one it was) and it was really delicious. For someone who might not like lobster that much, this restaurant's menu is mainly consist of lobster dishes. Know that before going there. Overall it was such a nice experience dining in this restaurant.

Me and my wife showed up without a reservation. The restaurant was pretty empty and we requested a table by the water inside. We went to the bar and waited an hour before I approached the hostess and asked about our seating. She took me into the dining room and explained that there were no 2 seating tables available. At that time, I observed multiple four and five seating tables empty. I inquired why we couldn't sit at those tables and she said NO because we are a party of 2. We were so outraged of the lack of flexibility in seating people in a restaurant that was practically empty. I would not recommend Gosmans restaurant to anybody. There are plenty of small non-commercial restaurants around that have better service and better food.

I rate restaurants both on their customer service and food. Upon arrival I explained it was our anniversary and we were not in a hurry. I stated we wanted to have a very good view and would wait. I also stated we wanted to sit on the deck. The host said he understood. He also said we could order drinks at the bar. We went to the bar to get drinks. I explained my allergies. The bartender couldn’t have been less interested. The drinks available were very limited. She assured me what I ordered was fine. So when we were called to be seated, we were placed at a table for two and an obstructed view. This is because there was a table in front of us. Not five minutes later another couple was seated at a table right next to the water, which is what I asked for and stated I was willing to wait. My picture of the table for two is where two people were sitting. I took the photo after they left. As I was on about my 3/5 sip of my drink my tongue and throat started tingling. I explained to the waitress what happened. She took it away and brought the drink menu. However, I was charged for both drinks. The food was good. I really liked the tuna. My husband was not as impressed by his choice, the surf and turf. For the price of this restaurant, I except someone to listen to me when I speak to them, to check in on how I am doing before I have finished my meal, and not to charge for a replacement drink. People seem to love this restaurant. Maybe I just expect more in this price range.

This restaurant holds a monopoly stake in the dining scene of Montauk. Pretty much anyone who has ever visited the town has dined here, and for good reason. The views are spectacular. You are dining right on the water. The menu features an abundant selection of lobster. The waiting area is a wooden pier with lots of seating, with tables to drink at while you wait. So why the one star off? It’s because you’re truly paying for the experience. The wait is usually at least 20 min. The prices are expensive for the portion size - if you don’t order dessert, you won’t be full. The service, although friendly, is overwhelmed. Is it worth going? Yes, at least once. But if you’re a local, this probably wouldn’t be a place you come to regularly except for special occasions.

Fantastic place to eat on Labor Day! We were visiting Montauk from Queens and wanted to grab lunch. Parking is free and huge! The restaurant is right next to the dock and the harbor. We went about 40 mins after opening and it was decently packed. We were seated outdoors and it was a very pleasant day for eating. We ordered Gosman’s surf and turf, twin lobster tails, fish and chips and shrimp basket. He seafood was really fresh and the quality was great. The steak was cooked to my liking and it was tender. Lobsters were a bit on the chewy side. The shrimps and the fish were very fresh and we enjoyed it. Overall, the experience was pleasant and the waitress was friendly. Would love to come back when we venture back to Montauk!

Ferry service
Viking Fleet offers a variety of experiences off the coast of Montauk, including fast ferry rides, fishing trips for bass and tuna, and unforgettable whale-watching excursions. The service takes advantage of the North Atlantic location to provide unique opportunities. They also offer whale watching tours in partnership with the Coastal Research and Education Society of Long Island, where sightings of humpback, minke, and fin whales are common during summer months.
Well organized fishing trip with around 20 guests on our trip. The boat seemed to be in good shape (I’m no expert) but the best bit was the staff. They were the kindest and most helpful team we could have asked for. Always there with help when you needed and super encouraging to those passengers making their first fishing trip. Most of the family are saying this is the highlight of the holiday! We have even uncovered some surprise enthusiasts for fishing.

My husband and I set out for a half-day fishing trip on Star which left at 8 am Saturday morning. The weather was perfect and the fishing even better! Roland, the crew member, showed us the basics and was always available each time a fish was caught. The skipper moved to various spots where the fishing was plentiful. Roland filleted our catches (the ones that weren’t too small to keep) so we could bag them and bring them home to eat! This was such a great experience! Thank you Roland and crew!!

This trip was so far beyond expectations, and that was thanks to the captain and crew. I had never done whale watching, and every site suggested Viking Fleet. The weather was perfect, and the crew was professional enough to tackle any issue. I can't say enough good things, I'll be back in the winter for seal watching!

This weekend I took the offshore whale watching trip with CRESLI via Viking Fleet and if I could rate them 10 stars I would ♥️♥️♥️ their deckhand helped us pull out the mattresses so we could sleep under the meteor shower, and the captains Carl and JR were soooo patient and let me ask them like fifty different boat questions/marine biology questions/fishing questions— we all saw a basking shark together and it was one of the coolest moments I’ve ever had in almost 30 years living on Long Island 🌊🙏🏻 beautiful clean vessel and a fantastic crew, couldn’t ask for more, thank you guys for everything that you do!

Went out on a “Jumbo porgy & seabass” trip to block island. Honestly i couldve saved all the money i spent on trip & catch the same “Jumbo” size porgys from the coney island pier thats 5 mins from my house not 4 hours… but hey fishing is fishing right? Cant entirely blame the business they cant control what fish bites. But i have 2 other issues with this business. 1. We arrived at fishing grounds and had a steady pick of fish on first drift. Suddenly the captain decides to leave the area (fish were biting!) and take a 1 hour ride to the opposite side of block island. We had 3 drifts without a single bite anywhere on the boat! Felt like the captain really didnt care and wanted to waste everyones time for no reason. After wasting 3 hrs of time, captain returned to where we were in the first place , and surprise surprise , the fish were biting! Too bad it was already 12pm. Upon checking vikingfleets reports , they wrote captain steven needed to move to find “calm waters”. Thats Weird ,because when we returned to the original spot , conditions got worse than they were in morning! So what was the point of moving and leaving a good spot ? 2. Im shocked at how bad the crew is. As a former fishing mate , if I chugged coronas during a trip, i would be fired on the spot (rightfully). At one point i was stuck in a large tangle w/ a bunch of other fishermen. The mate was trying to untangle us for 10 minutes & couldnt figure it out. I walked over and fixed the tangle myself in less than a minute. This is what happens when you let mates get drunk. Likewise if i yell and curse like a degenerate, i would also be fired on the spot. Also it took me about half the trip to even figure out who the deckhands were in the first place! Does this massive business not have “crew” t-shirts? The only cool crewmember is the guy in the galley. Hes a great guy ! Helped me a bunch. Im extremely disapointed. Ive wanted to go to Montuak and fish on the vikingfleet, my entire life! Theres no way im going to spend 130$+ only to experience the same thing agian.

The Montauket, a family-owned establishment since 1959, is a classic spot in Montauk where locals and visitors gather to witness stunning sunsets over Gardiner's Island. Located on Firestone Road overlooking Fort Pond Bay, it offers a laid-back atmosphere with live music and serves fresh locally caught seafood, including their iconic lobster rolls. The restaurant was strategically built to take advantage of its prime sunset-viewing location.
Only went here to catch the sunset at the bar on a Friday eve in the off seaon (October 24th). -Kitchen is closed in off season, but thankfully the bar is open. Cocktails were great! -Follks definitely start pouring in quickly to watch the sun go down, so arrive at least hour before sunset if you want a seat (off season Friday). -No dogs allowed unless service animals.

We stopped by the bar for a drink and to enjoy the sunset by the water. The setting was lovely, and the live band was a nice touch. However, it did get quite noisy. I understand that’s often the vibe, and it’s fine in a city setting — but in such a calm waterfront location, I would have preferred a more relaxed atmosphere.
Kristina Z — Google review
I came here on a Saturday with a friend and had to pay a $20 cover charge, per person, just to enter the place. I clarified we were only going to eat but the man said it didn’t matter. We paid the cover charge and waited about 10 min to be seated because the place was very busy. The food took a long time but was very good. We got the lobster roll and the clams/mussel appetizer. The drinks we got were very strong (watermelon margarita and a mule). I couldn’t finish mine because of how strong it was. All together just with two drinks, the lobster roll, an appetizer and the cover charge, we spent close to $200…. I enjoyed the view and the food but I don’t think I would ever come here again because of the cover charge and just the overall experience.

Great views, great vibes — but be ready to queue (a lot). Stunning waterfront location with great cocktails and a fun live band — but the experience was overshadowed by poor facilities. We visited on Memorial Day weekend, waited 40 minutes to get in and paid $20 entry each. The cocktails were excellent and the live band brought amazing energy - it could have been a perfect sunset. Unfortunately, the experience was seriously let down by the shocking lack of facilities. For such a large and popular venue, having only two bathrooms is unacceptable. Guests were waiting 30+ minutes just to use the restroom. As a result, I missed sunset and left shortly afterwards - that was not a situation I wanted to do twice. To management: If you're charging a cover, especially on holiday weekends, please reinvest some of that revenue into additional restroom options (portaloos would be a start). Guests deserve better than this!

Great service and great location! BUT the food is mediocre at best. Everything here is frozen and double fried. Nothing is freshly made. Feels like the crowd is 22-27 year olds BUT - bar is nice. Go here for drinks not food, in my humble opinion.

I had a disappointing experience here. I sat at a table that did not have a “reserved” sign, ordered food and a drink, and started enjoying my time. Before I even finished my meal and beer, the server suddenly brought me the check without me asking. This made no sense, especially since it was daytime and the place was mostly empty — plenty of other tables were available. If the table was going to be needed, I should have been informed before my food arrived, not in the middle of my meal. It felt like I was being rushed out, which made the whole experience uncomfortable and unwelcoming. I will not be coming back, and I’ll make sure to let others know they shouldn’t waste their time here either.

Stopped by for a cocktail before dinner. $20 per person just to walk in. Advice? Turn around and go somewhere that appreciates customers. I saw more people walk away than go in. Reminder. Three years ago there was no cover charge.

I’ve never experienced any business denying my business because of a service dog; furthermore it’s against New York law to do so. Then to have the audacity to tell someone that their disability doesn’t qualify as a disability and going a step further to say “you’ll ruin everyone’s night” by having your small, trained service dog -outside, mind you- is appalling. I am taken aback and will not be returning to give these people any money.

I’ve been to Navy Beach multiple times but the service seems to be getting worse. We were a party of six for a 530 outdoor reservation. Our waitress was very sweet, but did not communicate well. If you’re looking to have a specialty cocktail, they do not serve a martini in a glass outdoors. You have to stay indoors for that. Only serve paper cups outside. That was disappointing. I ordered a martini and it came in a paper cup half full, if you’re going to give me a paper cup at least fill it…..it pitiful. No one received their food at the same time and three people didn’t receive their drinks till we were halfway done with our meal. How do you not have anyone’s drinks ready for over an hour? We ordered a lemonade that was $7 and an iced tea that was $3.50 Does that make any sense? My son ordered spaghetti and penne pasta came out instead, now I understand that they don’t always have the type of pasta you’re looking for, but the kitchen and the waitress should have expressed that to us instead of just bringing out whatever they felt like it. Again, the communication was horrible. I did enjoy the salmon tartar, and the other food that we had ,The view is beautiful, but not sure it’s worth the horrible service.

LOVE! The view (sunset side)& the chill vibe 💙💙On the sand dining if so desired, lounging couches in the sand & also picnic tables/plastic patio table outdoor-see video) large indoor bar & dining area. Families welcome. We just loved the relaxed atmosphere. Can dress up or not. Food great, service slow, ( Monday night-indoor empty. Servers were nice but slow and had to ask others for drink, etc. enjoy the view, about the view, but get your drink order in quick cuz you might be waiting. Such a great area. Quiet quaint. On Navy beach. My hubby had the cod special. Very good!(but if your hungry order a side)I had the Buddha bowl. Came dry-had to ask for a dressing. Just ok. They had a vinaigrette. Would definitely go back. We were a walk in for 2, so got a great porch bar seat and were there early. If you want to sit outside, make a reservation. In a weird area, but don’t let that deter you. Loved.

My daughter and husband had their wedding reception at Navy Beach restaurant recently. Service, food and venue were first rate. Was asked multiple times if all was well and communications with Franklin were great through the planning process and day of wedding. What a fun and festive vibe on the beach for the cocktail hour then dinner in the restaurant overlooking the beach! Bar service was polite, friendly and very helpful. All servers were polite and responsive. The food was fresh, well presented, perfectly seasoned and expertly cooked. Best meal I have had in a very long time! Guests were raving about the seafood appetizers and main meal. I loved the quartered perfectly cooked burger appetizer! A perfect venue for the wedding! Weather highlights its beauty. Fun vibe!

Great local restaurant food was actually really good better than I had expected. If you come with a big group, try and get a table with some couches when we went it was pretty low-key not a huge crowd, but this place is known to get very busy. We had the Mexican corn, tuna tartare, mac & cheese and calamari. Calamari was very light, delicate and delicious and the tuna was fresh. The drinks were good all around. No complaints solid spot. Great location.

I absolutely loved this place. the food is so fresh and delicious. We got the calamari mexican corn, and garlic parmesan fries as our appetizers and ordered a lobster roll and grilled fish tacos as our mains. The calamari was sitting in a sweet chili sauce that I really liked. It was crispy and not too chewy. You can get a table right by the water if it's not too windy! The view is stunning. 10/10 for me-no notes.

It was our first visit to this small Taco-Restaurant and didn’t feel like strangers. It was like when you go to a place where you ‘ve been before and the host knows who you are! We were offered free beer and margaritas samples!👍👍👍 The shrimp and carnitas tacos omg! Delicious. The gentleman who served us was a true gentleman! Thank you! Oh! Environment is all family! Loved this place! I recommend it highly!👍

Awesome, Awesome, Awesomeness! I loved this place. The vibe was excellent and just what the doctor ordered as I slipped into vacation mode! My bartender Cormick was one of the best I've ever had. He was personable and really enjoyed engaging with his clients. He made great recommendations and really loved what he does. I can't speak more highly enough about the service he provided to me and my family. As for the food and drinks....awesome! The Margheritas were perfectly made and on Tap! Yes. That's what I said...on tap and perfectly made.....the tacos and guacamole with chips were super delicious as well. I can't wait to come back. It really is 5 stars!

Our party of 3 couldn't have been happier with the food, staff and cleanliness. We started with the guac and chips and a IPA for each adult. Good call on our part! Then we ordered the carne asada tacos (two small corn tortillas with generous portions of steak), Baja fish tacos (two small corn tortillas with fried fish and a sweet/sour slaw mix), and a cheese quesadilla for the kiddo. The quesadilla was $10 (price wasn't on the menu) and was the largest portioned meal. Very simple and tasty with a salsa Verde on the side. The portions weren't big, but nobody left hungry. The total bill was just shy of $50. Worth every penny!

Great vibe Something for everyone. John the manager was super friendly and accommodating. Bonus ping pong, Ms Pac-Man game and photo booth.

YUM!!!! The frozen margarita was DELICIOUS and yes, i got a to-go cup filled with it. The carne asada tacos were phenomenal. I also really loved the way the place is set up. The colors, the vibes, everything. I went during the off season so there weren’t many people, but I really want to come back in the summer so I can get the full TT’s experience!

We had a great experience at TT ! Great selection of drinks & the chicken tikka tacos were delicious! Staff was very laid back and fun - atmosphere is great! Highly recommend the stop!
Tate S — Google review
The service was good, the tacos as well. They have a wide range of beer selections. Price is moderate. Unlike the neighbor restaurants, this ain’t a tourist trap. Highly recommended.

The chicken nachos were really good and very filling with the cheese/queso that was on them. We had the chicken and impossible meat tacos which I thought were both ok, but the nachos were our favorite. We came during off season so we sat inside, but I imagine that in the summer it's nice outdoors and on the water.

Restaurant
The Dock Bar & Grill is a funky and low-key cash-only saloon located close to Gosman's Dock in Montauk. It offers fresh-off-the-boat seafood and a laid-back atmosphere where locals, fishermen, and sea captains gather for good food and cold drinks. The rustic interior is adorned with seafaring-related antiques, creating an eclectic and colorful ambiance.
Excellent No-frills waterfront dining experience with fresh seafood like tuna melts and soft shell crabs that capture the essence of coastal cuisine. Its quirky, unapologetic atmosphere, complete with humorous signs and a casual pub vibe, makes it a beloved local spot, though it’s not for the overly sensitive. Friendly staff, reasonable prices, and stunning harbor views make it a must-visit for a taste of authentic Montauk.

I care not to mention what I had bc it really did look delicious but it was not my cup of tea. I loved the clam chowder for sure!! N the dessert was fabulous!! Carrot cake and cheese cake! YUM!

I had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant. I arrived with my service dog, who is trained and legally permitted under the ADA to accompany me in public spaces. However, I was denied entry by a tall man—who I believe was the manager—despite calmly explaining my rights and the nature of my dog’s service. Refusing entry to someone with a service animal is not only disrespectful, it’s illegal. This kind of discrimination is unacceptable, and I hope this establishment is better educated about disability rights in the future. I’ve reported the incident to the appropriate authorities. I strongly advise others with service animals or disabilities to be cautious when visiting this place. No one should be made to feel unwelcome or dismissed because of a medical need. This was a person !!!

Wonderful bar or tavern with some excelled pub grub. I had the scallop sandwich. Delicious. Others in the group had the open tuna sandwich and a pair of hearty looking salads. I liked it so much that we came back the following day for lunch, but they’re closed on Mondays. In hope to come again one day.

We love sitting by the water and watching the boats. There was overly loud club music playing inside one of the building mid afternoon, but we've been there often and that's never happened before. The food was good, seafood fresh, and prices were right where they should be. The drinks were very good, the bartender very friendly, but the cocktails were pricey. I'll definitely be there again to eat and drink and look at the boats passing by.

I’ve frequented the Dock for many years. I even used to own a store nearby and got take out often. I’ve never had a bad experience until today. We arrived right at 3pm when they opened (on a Friday in September- not very busy) and asked for the farthest away table because we had our small puppy (who’s well behaved). The older man with white hair (whom I have not encountered before, probably the owner lol) yelled at me that they don’t allow dogs. Now, it’s their choice to allow or not allow animals. I have absolutely no issue with a business deciding they don’t allow dogs even when outside, but the rudeness and nastiness was entirely uncalled for. Simply saying sorry we don’t allow animals outside would have sufficed. There was zero reason for his behavior towards me. We are now comfortably sitting at Dive Bar who is happy to allow us with our pup and no nasty attitudes.

Great meal! Staff was friendly and attentive. We had soup and sandwiches. Really casual beach vibe here, we stopped by after fishing so don’t expect people to be dressed up

Mavericks Montauk, a highly anticipated addition to the dining scene in Montauk, is set to open this summer. Spearheaded by sommelier Vanessa Price and Chef Jeremy Blutstein of Crows Nest and Surf Lodge, Mavericks Montauk promises a seasonally focused menu featuring surf and turf dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant, located at the waterside Fort Pond spot, will offer a steak-centered kitchen.
Enjoyed incredible cocktails and dinner at Mavericks. We didn’t have reservations and the hostess was able to seat us at the bar which had stunning views of the water. Service was amazing! They really know how to make an incredible dirty martini and all of our cocktails were superb. The beet salad was so fresh and flavorful. The steak was incredible, the cream spinach was divine. I ordered the gnocchi and it was sublime, the truffle and the garlic did a perfect balancing act here. I had a few bites of my companions Wagyu and it was 10/10. TLDR: Standouts- wagyu steak, beet salad, gnocchi. Great views, awesome service, amazing cocktails!

We had a pleasant experience overall with the service—staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was very nice. However, we felt that the food quality didn’t quite match the price. We started with the Tuna Tartare, but unfortunately, the tuna wasn’t fresh and had a strong fishy smell, so we had to send it back. We then ordered the roasted chicken ($45), which was served undercooked. The rest of the dishes were just okay—not bad, but not quite what we expected given the pricing. The pasta had a sour flavor, and the mocktail was also quite sour, so the overall flavor profile didn’t suit our taste. We appreciate the great service, but hope the kitchen can make some improvements.

We were celebrating our anniversary here and it was amazing! They gave us prosecco to start which was very thoughtful of them, our server was very kind and helpful with our questions. The bread was fluffy and warm, the steak was cooked to perfection. We also got the potato gratin that could use a bit of seasoning, and there was a little mistake with the order because we didn’t order the broccoli but the manager told us we can keep them. We tried the broccoli and honestly it was really good! Great hospitality and food!

Expensive food. Just ok. Great presentation. Stuffed mushroom has no flavor. Grilled swordfish was ok. Not amazing for 65 dollars. Tune steak was good. Nothing exciting. Friend said the prime good was good. Not excellent. Electric menu, amazing water/sunset views. You're really paying for the view and service. The food needs a little more creativity. My true only complaints is the staff doesn't censor how many people hang around the bar. We had bar seats for dinner and before we even finished dinner, people were coming in in mobs, by people I mean 20 somethings with skimpy clothing, breathing at your neck to order drinks. Space people. I dont think it's my job asa patron to monitor that. The restaurants shouldn't have let them to the bar if there are no seating. Common sense for a better experience for all. I thought I was going to robbed or touched inappropriately. Jeez.

Was delighted by the meal and experience I recently had at Mavericks. We had been shopping earlier in the day, and a very lovely shop attendant mentioned she worked at Mavericks and recommended we try it! We celebrated our wedding anniversary and dined outside, with a lovely view of the water. The service was attentive, and the cocktails and food delicious and thoughtfully prepared. We started with the Roasted Amagansett Beet Salad (perfectly roasted beets!), and had the lobster radiatori (pictured) and NY Strip. Will definitely be returning.

We recently had a very special business dinner meeting at Maverick’s on Montauk and we were so impressed with everything from A-Z. The very first impression was with the front desk. We actually walked in with no reservation after being kept waiting st another establishment. We were greeted with absolute warmth and seated at a gorgeous outdoor table with an amazing view of the water, the sunset, and the frolicking fireflies. Right away, we were greeted by a stunning and intelligent wait staff person named Scarlett. As a former fine dining food service worker, I couldn’t have been more impressed with Scarlett’s wonderful personality in addition to her knowledge of fine food and wine. Damien, the sommelier was also so knowledgeable and accommodating while serving us the finest Montauk rosé with floral and raspberry notes. The food was to-die-for! When we explained to Scarlett we wanted to order “family style”, she knew exactly what we meant and coursed all of our entrees perfectly while first recommending the foie gras with the sumptuous house made Parker rolls. We then shared the gnocchi, a sumac carrot soup, and the very best lobster I have ever tasted. Scarlett is a stand-out employee who went over and above by treating us to some bubbly for our friend and business associate’s birthday. From first impression, to the outstanding food, to the best service around, to the warm goodbye and invitation to return soon - we were over the moon to have discovered Maverick’s. In our opinion, it is the very best Montauk has to offer. Also, a special shout-out to Scarlett: You set the standard for professionalism and for unparalleled knowledge and personality. We look forward to seeing you and everyone at Maverick’s again very soon.

Unsafe food, allergy negligence, and shockingly poor management response We came to Mavericks Montauk on a Sunday because a friend recommended it after multiple great visits. While the food (especially the Wagyu Beef Short Ribs, Grilled Oysters, Kimchi Fried Rice, and Lobster) was tasty, our overall experience was unacceptable — especially for a restaurant that markets itself as fine dining. Our group included guests with food allergies (one mild cilantro allergy, one severe mushroom allergy). The server never asked about allergies, and there were no menu warnings. I ordered the Pork Skirt Steak assuming it was safe, but it came topped with a cilantro-based sauce. When I asked, the server incorrectly claimed it was thyme — only after I mentioned my allergy did she check with the kitchen and confirm it was cilantro. This is a basic safety protocol failure. Meanwhile, another dish came with burnt short ribs, and while the first manager who came over was polite and helped us remake the dishes, that’s where the professionalism ended. After remaking the ribs, we found a whole rubber band at the bottom of the sauce container. The second manager, Cornelia, gave us no real apology — just a cold “people make mistakes” and kept repeating “what do you want?” as if we were making a scene for free food (we weren’t). We were looking for accountability, proper allergy handling, and respectful service. Instead, we got deflection, blame, and attitude — and were made to feel like the problem. Bottom line: some dishes may taste good, but the lack of training, food safety oversight, and disrespectful management are deal breakers. We will not return.
