San Marcos Premium Outlets is a massive shopping destination, comprising over 240 stores with 145 renowned brand outlets. It's a haven for shopaholics, offering luxury and designer labels at discounted prices. The outlet features an extensive range of brands including Prada, Nautica, Valentino, Ann Taylor, Lululemon, Tory Burch, Banana Republic, Gap, Nike, Gucci and more.
Lots of brand names you know and love are at these outlets. There are two side the San Marcos Premium Outlets side and the Tanger Outlets side with plenty of options. It’s almost time to Christmas Shopping🛍️.

We recently visited San Marcos Premium Outlets, located roughly midway between San Antonio & Austin. It’s a massive outdoor shopping complex, so large that at sometimes, we even drove from one store to another ! Despite the 32°C heat 😰I really enjoyed the experience. The outlets feature a wide variety of premium brands and products, ranging from luxury fashion and shoes to home goods. The product quality is excellent, and prices are quite competitive😀 For tourists, tax refunds are available, however, each bill must include at least $12 in taxes paid, and you can only receive 50% of the total tax amount back. The food court is decent, though it doesn’t include all the popular fast-food chains. We had Chinese food, which was okay. Overall, it’s a must visit if you’re in or around Austin or San Antonio 👍
Kanchan A — Google review
We went to San Marcos premium outlets for Thanksgiving shopping. We had made a short list of specific stores to visit so the experience was good instead of being overwhelming. As you might expect it was very crowded and it took about 45 minutes to find parking - we finally parked in the overflow parking lot. Most stores also had long queues to enter the store because of how crowded it was at Thanksgiving. There’s a really good selection of stores at this outlet mall however, there are only 1-2 restaurants within the strip mall, which makes it difficult to find food/snacks when you have to spend almost the entire day in the mall because of how long it takes to get into each store. If we return, we will come prepared with protein bars, and packed snacks.😅
Malavika K — Google review
The San Marcos Premium Outlets is a shopping haven that truly lives up to its reputation as one of the top retail destinations in the United States. Conveniently located between Austin and San Antonio, this expansive outdoor center boasts over 240 stores, offering a blend of luxury and name-brand outlets. Shoppers can find renowned brands such as Gucci, Prada, Lululemon, Nike, and Coach, all offering significant discounts of up to 65% off retail prices . The layout of the mall is thoughtfully designed, making navigation between stores seamless. For those planning an extensive shopping trip, it’s worth noting that traversing the entire outlet can amount to a four-mile walk, so comfortable footwear is recommended . Amenities such as ample parking, wheelchair accessibility, and pet-friendly policies enhance the overall shopping experience . Beyond shopping, the outlets offer a variety of dining options to refuel, from quick bites to sit-down meals. Families will appreciate the children’s play area and entertainment features like life-sized chess and Jenga boards . Whether you’re a local resident or a visitor to Texas, the San Marcos Premium Outlets provide an unparalleled shopping experience that combines variety, value, and convenience. It’s a must-visit destination for anyone looking to indulge in retail therapy.
Sai K — Google review
I recently visited San Marcos Premium Outlets and was blown away by the sheer variety of brands and products available. From luxury fashion to home goods, there's something for everyone. The prices are incredibly competitive, and the quality of the products is exceptional. The outlet itself is well-designed, making it easy to find what you're looking for." _Recommendation_ If you're looking for a great shopping experience with amazing deals on top brands, San Marcos Premium Outlets is the place to go! With its vast selection, reasonable prices, and high-quality products, you won't be disappointed.

Big and spacious. Alot of good stores and deals. The weather in October was very hot but walking underneath the shade was nice
Abdulwahab A — Google review
Visited the San Marcos Premium Outlets yesterday for the second time, and it’s still a great spot for shopping. The outlet has a wide range of brands and is well-maintained, making it enjoyable to walk around. While the variety isn’t the best for every category, it’s an excellent place to find daily wear and sportswear at good prices. The layout is convenient, parking is easy, and the overall experience is pleasant. A solid shopping destination for casual and brand-name finds. 🛍️

Been coming here for 30 years. A load of cats are living in the parking lot. Saw 5 all at once. Many area smell of cat piss. Dirtier than I ever remember it. And outlet store prices are just retail now. No deals to be had. In many cases exact same items at a better price can be found on Amazon. Sorry I tell it as I see it.

It’s been about 5yrs since I’ve been here and absolutely nothing has changed. Nothing bad just still packed but these prices were just about the same as I remember. But definitely enjoyed the outting here.
Q B — Google review
The outlets need more parking space it’s hard getting in and out of here I think a parking garage would of been good. The stores had ac and lots of registers open at the crowded stores which was good to keep the lines moving. The stores were clean and had friendly staff. But the restrooms were dirty and men’s restroom didn’t have privacy. The outlet has all kind of stores sure to have something for everyone.

I love stopping to shop at this outlets all together this time they had some amazing deals at the guess store . The fine lady who attended me was so polite I didn't catch her name but she looks like sedney Sweeney . She was the most adorable person in the store I only wish I had gotten her name or her autograph lol.

To skip crowds and traffic come during the week. Ask for military discount and bring your id. If international bring your passport and ticket. Save those receipt cause purchases with over 12.00 in taxes they will total and refund. But only at participating location.

Tanger outlets are the best outlets, and San Marcos location is no exception. Great options of stores that fit variables ages and badges. Guess and Disney store were my favorites and their employees are very kind, active and helpful. There is no really kids area, so be aware of this if you are visiting with young kids. Just crossed the street and changed the Outlet - very nice. Second part of stores, no worse than the SM Premium outlet. Visited couple of shops, bought almost everything I wanted. Pretyy crowded place during weekends, but great value. Be prepared to spend a half day and more here.

Great deals and lots of store fronts you may have forgotten about. Worth a couple hrs walking around if nothing else

Not real packed. Friendly staff. Plenty of parking if you like to walk. The fashions were cute but for the younger generation. I'm finding that in a lot of the stores. But very pretty.

The Wonder World Cave & Adventure Park is a thrilling amusement park that offers visitors an exciting array of attractions. Guests can also indulge in some shopping at the gift shop where they can purchase unique souvenirs like stone necklaces. Food options are available with food trucks parked curbside and a place to eat inside the gift shop area.
We recently visited again as part of a field trip. When we were there two years ago we all had a wonderful time. Our guides were extremely patient with the rowdy group we had. This time however was beyond amazing. We had the amazing guide Emily and assistant Kenny. I believe Maddie was the “announcer” getting us started and she was so great with our group. Emily was awesome throughout and Kenny pointed out some extra cool things to us throughout the tour. 10/10 recommend visiting!

I went on the cave tour with my boyfriend and had a lot of fun! The cave looked great because the lighting they put in made it so colorful and exciting. Our tour guide, Luke, was very funny and knowledgeable about the formation of the cave and its history. I wish the tour was longer so we both can explore more interesting things about nature.

My kids and I went to Wonder World back in March and we had a wonderful time. It offers many attractions such as the guides cave tour, train ride with petting zoo, anti-gravity room, gift shop, gem mining, and outside eating area with a small playground. I think it's definitely worth a visit, mainly for the caves, and for all ages. We paid extra for the gem mining but the kids loved it, and it just added to the educational experience. The anti-gravity house is trippy for sure. I would recommend this place to visit at least once!

It's a really great cave. The colored lights inside however mess up your pictures it makes it look cheesy. However, it is not cheesy it is beautiful. Ryder was our tour guide and she was awesome.

We traveled to Wonderworld from Boerne, Texas and had a fabulous time! Macie was the coolest tour guide ever. She ensured the safety of everyone, gave in depth but fun facts about the cave, and had such a fun sense of humor. I cannot recommend wonderworld more!!

Came for the trick or treating in the caves event with my son it was lots of fun it’s cool to hear the backstory for many of the caves attractions and our tour guide was Ryder she was awesome! Lots of cheesy jokes about the caves and she was informational and very kind and patient with my 5 year old! Definatley recommend! Here’s a picture of Ryder and my son up on the rocks !

I genuinely enjoyed it! The price is reasonable for the experience. Josh was an amazing tour guide he was very knowledgeable and caring you can tell he really appreciated the people and his work. It’s a place I was glad to explore and experience. It is worth the stop if you are traveling and have a couple of hours to spare to stretch your legs before you continue traveling. I got to pet an emu and the place is very clean and maintained.

The homeschool 4 weeks course is WELL worth the drive. My kids are happy and the depth of information/ the educational material they learned is well planned out ( as were the daily hands on activities). The girls who ran it were sweet, professional and SO good with kids! Thank you Wonder World Cave!! Also it’s so pretty there in the picnicking/ playground area.

First time here on 6/2/2025. Celebration lunch for 52nd anniversary. Great service. Lots of attention but not pressing. Good menu options. My wife had the pesto pasta and salad. I went with the Brewhouse Burger. Good portions. Fun place to eat with windows at sidewalk level. Parking was easy at mid-day but could be tricky early.

We had our wedding at the Root Cellar Cafe in their beautiful Uproot event space — and it was truly perfect! It was actually the first wedding ever held in that space, and we feel so lucky to have been a part of that milestone. From start to finish, the experience was incredible. The space was cozy, elegant, and just right for our intimate 3-hour celebration (20 people). Aubrey, the private event manager, was absolutely amazing to work with. She communicated clearly, listened to our ideas, and adjusted everything to match our vision. Her attention to detail, warmth, and professionalism made planning so much easier and stress-free. We also want to give a huge shoutout to the entire team who served during the event — they were wonderful! Attentive, kind, and incredibly efficient, they made sure everything ran smoothly and that our guests were taken care of throughout the evening. Everyone worked together seamlessly to create the most relaxed, joyful, and memorable experience for us. The food was absolutely perfect — delicious, beautifully presented, and thoughtfully customized to accommodate all of our guests’ dietary restrictions without any issues. Thank you to Aubrey and the entire Root Cellar team for making our wedding day so special. Highly recommend this hidden gem in San Marcos for any private event!

Oh my GOODNESS!! The Root seller has done it again. My wife and I are excellent cooks and everyone raves about our cooking but when I wanna go to a place for a breakfast and want something excellent, I come here! My go to is there Brazilian French toast. I add fresh strawberries and blueberries to it with a side of sausage patties and it is the chef’s kiss. The flavors are vibrant, and the textures are rich. My wife, had the Belgian waffle with the added chicken. Fantastic. The waffle is crisp but not hard and the chicken is well seasoned and whatever they batter the chicken in is light, crispy, and magnificently flavored. And then our waitress Ella brought over some Sriracha honey sauce paired phenomenally with the chicken, giving it a sweet and spicy kick. I find it hard to reward a lot of places with high praise because often I can cook better at home and don’t have to pay an exorbitant price. I come here for breakfast because it’s marvelous and I didn’t have to cook it.

First time here and will definitely be returning there was a line out the door but no wait. Guess everyone got hungry at the same time lol. Service was calm and quick! I ordered the hillside country breakfast which I will be craving til I come back ! Parking wasnt too bad parked on the street and walked over to this hidden gem.

Really cozy spot for brunch thats right off of the main square of San Marcos. The place has an old rustic atmosphere in its basement cellar dining area. The service is great and the food is pretty tasty.

Food looked delicious but taste was meh. Chicken and buiscuit were dry/ overcooked and the buiscuit was burnt in the bottom. Brazilian french toasts were ok. Nothing to write home about it. Coffee was horrible. Service was very slow. Will never coming back here.

Pub
The Taproom is a popular spot known for its American pub grub, especially the burgers and baby back ribs. With over 100 types of beer and sports on TV, it's a great place to hang out. The atmosphere is fantastic with old taps lining the walls and a wall of beer to peruse. If you can't decide what to get, the friendly staff is more than happy to help you out. There's also a full bar if you're not into beer.
This casual old-school tavern has huge delicious cheeseburgers for $13, quirky staff, and great vibes. They had the back door open letting in a cool Spring breeze. The perfect place to get dinner and work on our DND characters!
Chase N — Google review
Warm. Laid-back. Seat yourself kinda Dine-In joint. Staff was welcoming but seemed overwhelmed so I didn’t take any side glances or lazy hand swipes personal as they told us to sit where we liked. Atnosphere. Cozy Cabin with screens on each wall showing sports, news, and/or action films. Lots of seating with just enough room to maneuver one at a time. The staff are helpful if wheelchair accessibility is needed. It’s like a sports den more than a sports bar as they have a variety of food and drinks as well as have game nights. It’s a great place for gatherings, meetings, and meetups for game day. We weren’t fond of the chips and queso appetizer as we kinda are addicted to Kerbey Queso, lol. But the entrees were a home run! I got the Guacamole Queso Burger and the hubby got the BBQ Cheddar with chips. We shared a portion of each and it was delicious! The cheese was melted on the buttery bun and complimented the spices of the burger with the fresh toppings of bacon, lettuce, and onion. The chips tasted like they were made, not bought had they were lightly salted and had a natural crisp to it. Overall. Great place to hangout for an old school, down to earth burger and a cold one.

Always fantastic!!! Great staff. Excellent beer selection. Yummy food! The guacamole queso burger is the best! Plus, the fries are good. Great atmosphere any day of the week but also a great place to spend a holiday like St. Paddy's day! Sadly, I'm not in the area, but if I am, I always try to go!

Now listen closely...when I say extremely cool staff I mean that !!! Best service in San Marcos... Now the food is to die for there's no other burger in San Marcos that tops tap room !!! They have over 100 different beers 🍺 to choose from it's crazy but true extremely clean bathrooms this place is a pure joy !! My friend Maddie Ave took me here they have a new beacon jamm that is extremely yummy on the burgers and a golden mustard bbq is so good you can put it on everything I was eating it by itself it sooooo freaking good 💯 all made in house at the Tap room ..this place is a gem!! 💎

Went on a slow Sunday afternoon with a total of 9. I got the GOAT burger, which was overall good. The goat cheeses added a nice tangy touch, but the hot honey didn’t mix as well with the other flavors for me. Overall it was a decent burger that I was reasonably happy with. My biggest issue is that they refuse to split checks on parties of 6 or more. We didn’t know this until after we had ordered and received our food (apparently it’s listed on the menu, but none of us saw it, and it’s a pretty large and busy menu). There were MAYBE 4 other people there that day, so it’s not like they were busy. We were a group of people who had only meet once or twice before, so trying to figure out who was going to pay, and how to reimburse them was awkward. They force an 18% or 20% gratuity for parties of 6 or more, so they ended up with something like a $50 tip for our table, but couldn’t be bothered to split the check on a slow day? It’s just poor service. It feels like they just knew they’d get a decent tip regardless of the effort they put in and didn’t care. Overall the food was fine, and I wouldn’t mind going again for their food, but the service left a poor taste in my mouth.
Greg B — Google review
We had to wait over an hour for our food, but our amazing waitress Natalie, was sweating to get everyone's orders in, as we had a big group, there were also a lot of college kids, and people coming off the river. The cooks worked their butt off to get the food out as quick as possible. The manager, Samantha and Natalie cleaned off tables and pushed then together to accommodate our big group. I definitely recommend "The Taproom". Parking was a pain in this whole area though.
Basic H — Google review
Saw an ad for this on FB saying it had the best burgers in the county, so we had to try it out. If you know parking in this area, you will be happy to know there is parking in the back just for the Tap Room. The atmosphere is fantastic. Love all of the old taps lining the walls. Then you have the wall of beer to peruse, and if you can decide what to get, your server is more than happy to help you out. If you don't want beer, they also have a full bar to make something more to your liking. I ordered the blue cheese bacon burger without the blue cheese. My spouse got the Philly burger. The burgers were both presented well and led great. Both were well seasoned and very juicy. We truly enjoyed our lunch. The food, service and atmosphere are great, it is a bit pricy so be prepared for that. We will be back.

Stopped in to re live my college days and I was not disappointed. The burgers are great and the service is fast and friendly. I no longer drink, but they had a great selection of beer on tap.

Fast food restaurant
Taco Bell is a fast-food establishment that offers Mexican-inspired cuisine such as tacos, quesadillas, and nachos. Despite long drive-thru lines, the service is efficient and accurate. However, there have been instances where the restaurant closed earlier than expected, possibly due to COVID-related staff shortages. It would be beneficial if the closing hours could be updated promptly. This particular Taco Bell location is relatively new and meets the high standards set by the chain.
Good service and clean. Kiosk ordering is game changer. Staff was nice and food was good. Will definitely come back

OMG!! I found the AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS CARAMEL APPLE EMPANADA here today (10/9/2025). The employees were very professional on the phone when I called to inquire about the empanadas. There was an employee cleaning windows outside when I pulled up and the inside was very clean, tidy, and welcoming as well. While waiting on me, the employees were nice, knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I must say...this is my favorite Taco Bell! 👍👍 WAY TO GO YALL! 🎉

My experience here has been the same the last few times I've been to this location. The staff moves at a snails pace with no motivation whatsoever. The lady that I believe is named Jennifer is rude. A customer before me was trying to tell her how he wanted his order and she told him "wait, I have someone else talking to me". The drink station is filthy as though it's never been cleaned. My order today took well over 20 minute to make, even though I ordered before hand on mobile. I went inside to get my order and it seems that they prioritize drive-thru orders. I do not recommend this location.
Isaac G — Google review
Best cleaner, Taco Bell you’ll ever go to. I know it may seem like they’re always the same, but they’re not. Both of them prom locations are horrible. The food is always cold. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve messed up my orders. Just so many problems at those two locations but the San Marcus location obviously has very good management with good employees. Try this location and you’ll never want to eat at another Taco Bell location. My ex-wife and I used to purposely drive 30 minutes out of our way and pass about six Taco Bell’s just to go to this one.
Edled S — Google review
The food I ordered through the Taco bell App. Was completely incorrect was charged for modification to customize my meal. None of those modifications where applied. My Mexican pizza was completely smashed and stuck to box. Ordered a cantina quesadilla and was given a regular one, but was charged for a cantina quesadilla. Ordered a large DR pepper got a medium. The only reason I couldn't go pick it up and had to have it delivered was I cant drive because I just had surgery.
Clayton J — Google review
I literally never leave reviews but this Taco Bell is so rude I feel like they’re mad I’m buying food from them. I get it’s not a frickin steakhouse but recently everytime I go, I get such attitude and talked to like I’m stupid. They toss my food at me and when I say theres no sauce or my drink is wrong they act like I did something wrong. I don’t know why these workers r so mad all the time; I honestly think they make more money than me some days but they act like customers r burdening them. The only thing else I’m gonna say is it’s the same guy with the attitude everytime and he’s rather new. Disappointing one person can bring down a whole store like this; Im going to start driving to a different Taco Bell with nicer attitudes after today

Hamburger restaurant
Johnny Rockets is an international chain known for its retro setting and classic American fare. Customers have enjoyed the flavorful burgers, tater tots, and onion rings, as well as the delicious shakes. The friendly staff and old-time diner vibes add to the overall experience. While some have noted so-so service, others have found it above expectations and are eager to return for more tasty offerings like veggie burgers and chicken sandwiches.
Great little spot while shopping! Be sure to get the strawberry shake with real fruit. Kati was our waitress and very sweet and fast. We were in and out in 15 minutes!

When we first arrived we were greeted and seated quickly, and sat at the counter. (Counter was dirty almost completely across) Then our server did tend to us quite promptly as well. We ordered our food… in which we had to wait about 20-25 min. to receive. While we were waiting, the entire atmosphere of the restaurant was very loud, the workers were all yelling back and forth across the restaurant to each other. Along with the fact that the facility was not well kept in terms of cleanliness, which was disappointing… since Johnny Rockets typically pride themselves on how clean their restaurant’s are. Then, after all of these inconveniences, we finally receive our burger and fries (we ordered 1 burger, 1 order of fries and 1 shake) we had to wait another 10 minutes for the shake. The food was decent at least. But when we get the check from our server, he was going to discount our meal due to the issues that had arose. However, the shift manager (I assume) came behind him and reverted it back to a full price order. Overall, a very unpleasant experience. I definitely do not recommend this establishment if you are able to avoid it. *Also it was such a bummer since it was my husband’s first experience at a Johnny Rockets* 💔

Our server, Isabella, was great but the manager, Jasmine, was terrible. My niece, with her 3 month baby, was asked to move her stroller outside because it was blocking a walkway. When she said she was about to lay the baby down, Jasmine still told her to move the stroller outside. So my niece had to go outside and sit. Mind you, the restaurant was EMPTY! To top things off, our very upset server was asked to go home for the day due the discrimination we faced today. The owner should be aware of what happened today at the Johnny Rockets in San Marcos. We will never enter this restaurant again.
Deanna M — Google review
We were in the area and decided to pass a brief moment to drink some shakes since we had heard about Johnny Rockets, but we never tried before, due to the heat the only thing we wished at the moment was something refreshing. We were assisted by MARISSA, and when we ordered, she asked condescending if it was only that ( it seems like you are not welcome if you are not going to ask for a big order) we have to waited a lot for just a couple of shakes, and then we didn't even finished our shakes (it was like 6 minutes after she gave us the shakes) when Marissa came with the invoice, basically inviting us to leave. I would like to mention that this was around 3 pm and the place was empty. Not all was bad, the shakes were delicious, refreshing, and exactly what we needed being overwhelmed by the heat, and the price are not expensive. However, the bad experience with the service, plus the place was not clean, makes us never want to visit that place again, and not recommend to anyone.

Can’t tell you what the food was like because my wife went to get a table and the told her that she could not wait inside until I walked over with the kids. This after being late to open because the staff did not show up. Horrible service from the get go so we decided not eat here. Treat customers better!

Ordered a fried chicken salad. The lettuce was wilted and maybe a day from needing to be thrown out. The fried chicken was cold, cold, cold. After letting our server know, it went back to the kitchen and came back out with microwaved chicken added to the salad with the existing cold chicken. Had to use my hands to feel which ones to eat. Left my salad the way I got it, and was still charged for the salad although it was left untouched. Very disappointing meal.

Very sweet staff and yummy food! Great place to stop while shopping at the outlets! Server caught me trying to make my boyfriend share a milkshake with me and gave us a ketchup heart instead of a ketchup smile 😆💕

If you're looking for a cozy and inviting spot in Downtown San Marcos, the North Street Curry Shop is a must-visit. This restaurant offers a delightful fusion of Indian and Thai flavors, creating unique dishes like Chicken Tikka Masala, Saag Paneer, Samosas, and Curry Queso. The warm atmosphere makes it perfect for a special evening out or a relaxed carryout night in.
Five well deserved stars for outstanding food, superb friendly service and cool atmosphere. I would give it an extra star for super clean well stocked restrooms that include tampax, hair ties and breath mints! We were greeted promptly and cheerfully when we arrived and given recommendations on request. The recommendations were spot on, the butter chicken and chicken tikka masala were both superb. The chicken was moist and not overcooked, the sauce was subtly spicy but not overpowering. The portion sizes were satisfying and served with a papaad. Our server Troy was cheerful and pleasant and the perfect level of attentiveness.

Super delicious food, great variety on the menu and everything we tried was scrumptious! Great beer on tap plus they have their own in house brew! Atmosphere was cozy and cute. Wonderful service. My only complaint was the high prices but I realize the cost of ingredients might play a factor. Overall great experience here—I’d definitely recommend this place!

Wonderful spot to have lunch outside on the patio in San Marcos. Everything we had was fantastic and well seasoned. We ordered the trio to be able to sample a few different items as it was our first time- all were superb- the paneer tiki masala, butter chicken and chicken curry. Also had the smashed samosa burger which was spicy (in a good way). We had to try the curry queso- so different- never heard of that and it was delicious. Service was perfect- very attentive. They had an inside too with plenty of tables, we opted for outside- picnic tables and a few smaller tables for 1-2 people.

North Street is a cozy, inviting spot in San Marcos that puts a fun Tex-Mex twist on classic Indian flavors. The menu is creative and approachable, with options like curry tacos, loaded samosas, and even curry queso alongside staples such as butter chicken, tikka masala, and paneer dishes. The Curry Trio is especially worth trying if you want to sample different flavors. But the best was Peri Peri plate, it had very flavorful chicken grilled with rice and grilled veg. The staff here are warm and attentive, and the atmosphere is relaxed—perfect for a casual meal or hanging out on the patio when the weather’s nice. Portions are generous, and the menu does a great job explaining dishes for anyone less familiar with Indian food. They have very nicely decorated clean restrooms with small details like hair scrunchy and tampons. For that I have given them an extra star.
Qurat F — Google review
Don’t be misled—this is not a traditional Indian restaurant. They offer a few Indian fusion dishes, but none of them taste authentic or satisfying. The paratha was clearly frozen, the sauce in the paneer tikka lacked flavor, and the paneer tikka wrap was completely bland. If you’re looking for a real Indian food, this isn’t the place. It feels more like a coffee shop that reheats frozen or pre-packaged Indian meals and charges a premium. Definitely overpriced and not worth it. The only positives are the location and the cozy atmosphere—but the food doesn’t live up to either.

One of our fav stops in San Marcos! We love coming here the food is always on point!! Chicken 65, forbidden taco, and mango cucumber burger are our favorites. Everything here is good and we haven’t gotten anything we didn’t care for. It’s not your straight up authentic place, if that’s what you’re looking for but it does have great food and good vibes for a fusion restaurant. It’s a great place to meet up with friends and enjoy great food. We ❤️ u North Street curry!!!!

One of our go-to spots in San Marcos! North Street Curry Shop serves up consistently excellent Indian-inspired food with a creative twist—think “Indian food in a taco,” and you’re on the right track. We’re always trying new things here, but favorites include the Paneer Tikka Masala Taco and the Chicken 65 Taco. The Loaded Chicken Curry Nachos are also incredible (just grab a fork for the saucy bottom layer!). The atmosphere is just as great as the food. Inside, the space is funky and full of cool art, with plenty of comfortable seating. Outside, the shaded patio feels like a little oasis with big trees, fans, picnic tables, and vintage beer signs on the fence—super relaxed and fun. Service is always friendly and fast, and the staff genuinely seem to love what they do. If you’re new to Indian flavors or already a fan, this place is a must-visit. Can’t wait to come back and try the new burgers and sandwiches next!

Had a great time here! The atmosphere is great. The staff is really friendly, our server Zine (? I’m sorry, I have no idea how to spell their name) was phenomenal and super attentive. This is a great stop for Indian fusion food. Everything we had was delicious. My partner had the chicken 65 taco. He wasn’t a big fan of the chicken itself but he really loved the side salad (mango). I had the smashed samosa burger and man, it was great. Definitely a bigger portion size than expected. Beer menu is extensive and was a great selection. Overall, would highly recommend if you’re in the mood for some Indian fusion food.

For day 2, we recommend exploring the north side side of town. Start the day off with Rio Vista Park, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Sewell Park. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Park
Rio Vista Park is a 14-acre regional park in San Marcos, offering a variety of outdoor activities for visitors. The park features sports courts, a swimming pool, picnic areas, and hiking/biking trails. One popular attraction is the Lions Club Tube Rental, which provides an exciting tubing adventure down the San Marcos River with all-day access to tubes and shuttle service. Additionally, visitors can enjoy swinging from a rope and taking refreshing jumps into the water.
Amazing for families, and the water level is great right now. It gets VERY full, so parking will be difficult if you go noon or later. We had to walk about two blocks as the last few parking spaces filled around 12pm. Please be aware, this is the end of a tubing trail, you’ll want to keep an eye on kids so they don’t get caught under someone’s tube. The deepest area is not deep enough to fully submerge an adult but small children should wear life vests, alternatively, there are plenty of areas for wading. Water shoes are a good idea, as there are a lot of rocks which can hurt and are definitely slippery. Water can be considered cold but in this heat it’s easy to acclimate to!
L P — Google review
Awesome tubing area with 3 little rapid areas to go down. Water is super cold and clear. The most fun I've ever had on a tube only downside is it gets packed but if you get there early you shouldn't have a problem finding parking. We parked at the baseball field and just walked down parking is free at the baseball field

This was my first time here and I was surprised that I have been missing out. Such a great place for all types of recreation. Swimming, tubing, kayaking, fishing, scuba, picnicking, walking trail... A great place to take the family or just solo relax. Parking fills up fast so get there early!

Excellent little park. Get there early in the morning on weekends, or after 5pm on a weekday. Great for a quick paddle board or a quick and fun swim.
J. D — Google review
Went tubing down the river here. Water is clean because it comes from an aquifer and holds a steady temperature. There are 2 shoots that were fun to go through. River winds through a town, so it’s scenic in that you are seeing back of houses up on the hill.

This is a great park to hangout all day and swim. The park is dog friendly. Bring a cooler and some food and enjoy your weekend. Can get crowded so be prepared to park a good distance away.
Amanda F — Google review
This place is awesome for a birthday party, or just a relaxing place to take a dip. It's the cleanest water in Texas, and has great spots for kids, and adults to enjoy. The children's park/playground is right behind it too. The only part that sucks is they put up road blocks to get in to access available parking, and even though dogs aren't allowed, you will still see hipsters bring them anyways, which is annoying, and gross to swim with a stinky dog shaking off right next to you lol. Leave your pets at home. It's bad enough they drag them into restaurants around food these days. This is a place for humans, not a zoo.

Herbert's Taco Hut is a family-owned Tex-Mex spot that has been a go-to for over 20 years, offering familiar favorites like enchiladas, queso, and tacos. The restaurant is adorned with bright murals depicting colonial Spanish life, adding to the authentic vibe. Visitors can expect perfectly spicy and cheese-laden dishes along with refreshing margaritas. Despite its popularity leading to potential wait times, patrons find the delicious and consistent food well worth it.
The most delicious enchilada gravy anywhere! I’m so picky about my enchiladas and won’t eat them just anywhere. I get them every time here, so good but you must get the enchilada gravy! The queso is great for my queso loving kiddos. I usually get a taco as well and it never disappoints. The waiters or waitresses are always so nice and do a great job. It’s a small location but you would never know it. Everyone’s always been very kind. We haven’t had a bad experience here and that’s really rare these days. Always a must for us!

Really authentic taco / Texmex restaurant that’s very busy on weekends. The atmosphere and service are outstanding and the real deal. The food is ok, not outstanding, and idiosyncratic; breakfast items are listed with hash browns, which are really cubed potatoes, and you’re offered ketchup to go with them. The complimentary salsa and chips are good. I don’t know if I’ll return to try the main courses but I certainly recommend trying this place.
Miguel A — Google review
Have come many times. The food is good, it’s okay. The service is always fantastic and the staff is professional and friendly. Although, my last visit there was a roach in my cup that wasn’t noticed until the end of my meal. They didn’t charge us for the $3 drink or the $5 appetizer so I guess problem solved? The time before that, the dish that was used to hold my beans were incredibly stained and the color would scratch off when I would touch it with my spoon. Did not seem like it was cleaned, as a regular sponge or cloth would’ve cleaned it.

I walked into Herbert’s taco hut August 14 12:46PM. Carina was my waitress in this experience, she informed me that Herbert’s doesn’t sell beer in a bottle ONLY CANS and they also don’t serve quesadillas at the Tex-Mex restaurant. At 12:53 I walked into the restrooms and the restrooms were okay for a restroom but their was almost no toilet paper. which is bad since it’s during lunch service and the toilet paper should be stocked up I didn’t need toilet paper cause I urinated. At 12:49PM I drank sweet tea I like my tea sweet so it was just the right sweetness for me The tea is good 1:04PM I tried the queso the salsa is fresh and just the right amount of heat. The queso wasn’t very good is at tasted like cheap cheese that was melted it is equivalent to velveeta cheese that was melted it doesn’t taste like the cheese was made by hand in other words. At 1:06PM I got served the food the menudo it was plated messy the taste was “it’s alright” “I tasted better” At 1:21PM I stated eating cause I was busy typing this experience live The enchiladas were good and the taco is bland the chalupa also had to much beans as I had to use a napkin to wipe off the beans from my hands I would of served the chalupa and taco separate or just the chalupa their is way to much food on one plate. At 1:48PM I have finally decided to leave tithe establishment. The music was the best part of the experience as playing old classic rock they were playing music like bee-gees, tears for fears just like the white winged dove etc. DID I MENTION I CAN SHOOT A PARTRIDGE WITH A SINGLE CARTRIDGE. They said send a real “Bryan” so I wanted to try this restaurant out My name is Hunter Bryan don’t know this family to well but I did go to school with David I was actually in his graduating class and the person with me is Elias Rodriguez no need to thank me and my family Anthony in San Marcos and Bobby in New braunfels… Rizik’s

Sean Patricks is a laid-back Irish-Texan pub located in the heart of historic downtown, also known as one of San Marcos' craft breweries. The pub offers a mix of Irish and Texan cuisine, including favorites like chicken strips, fish and chips, and Irish boxty. Visitors praise the delicious food and friendly bar staff who are knowledgeable about their wide selection of craft beers.
Wow! Dropped in this place on a spur of the moment and glad we did. They have amazing fish and chips, and I must mention, phenomenal drinks (full bar and a large selection of craft beers). They also have two pool tables, an old school arcade and a shuffleboard table. Just so you know, you order at the bar, they give you a number. and you pick whatever table you want. The waitress/waiter brings your food when ready. If you are looking to hang out for few hours with your family and/or friends, check this place out. You won't be disappointed!

⭐ Mixed Feelings, but the Truth Matters I came into this experience with high hopes—it was festival time, and I expected a vibrant crowd and great energy. Instead, it was just a regular porch gig with a few families eating fries. But that’s fine. I still did what I always do: I showed up, gave my all, and engaged anyone who would listen. The staff initially seemed kind—they offered me a beer and something small to eat. That went a long way. But what happened next erased the good will. I had just finished playing and was sitting quietly behind the stage area to rest and eat, after performing at two gigs that day and fighting to keep busted gear working. I told the owner I needed a few minutes to decompress alone. Instead, I was told—rudely—to move so they could shoot some fake videos. No heads-up, no respect. Just “move.” Let me make this clear: I wasn’t in the way. I wasn’t causing trouble. I was simply trying to take care of myself after giving everything I had for their guests. And when I asked if my 80-pound dog could have a little food to stay calm while I played, I was given a single slice of bacon. That’s not compassion—that’s a gesture made for optics. Their response to my original review is the kind of passive-aggressive gaslighting that proves my point: when someone like me—who's lived on talent, hustle, and decades of marketing and performance experience—tells you what they need and what they experienced, you listen. You don’t dismiss it, spin it, or play victim. You listen. I’ve worked with real crowds, real clients, real engagement. I've made a living reading people, not protecting my ego. The truth is, this is just a glorified Chuck E. Cheese porch in a small-town theme park. And that's fine. Just don’t pretend you’re running the Apollo when you can’t even show a shred of basic respect to a performer or their needs. This is my review, unfiltered. You don’t have to agree with me. You just have to respect that this is my experience. And that’s something you don’t get to rewrite
Lotus S — Google review
I have come to Sean Patrick's since it opened in 2003/2004 when I turned 21 for over 20 years. It's still here and I'm still above grass, both of those are great. Massive selection of beers 🍻 but Guinness is still my favorite here. A "Guinea" off the spout please!! Was my punchline 20 years ago. Full menu of great food to soak up your Irish drinking tank when you're ready to eat. I typically get the Corned Beef and Cabbage, but you do you 🙃

Planned on hitting another restaurant/ bar while in town, but the nostalgia of the place lured us in...for 1 beer. Katy let us know the hand made quality of the Irish cuisine was worth the stay, & hands down she was right!!!! The staff was beyond amazing, especially Katy! The craft beer menu, tantalizing. And if you're not in to craft beer, you can get domestics. All around, hidden gem. We will definitely be back.

Sean Patricks is a true Irish pub experience with plenty of character. I had the Irish Boxty while my wife ordered the Fish and Chips — both were excellent, but the Boxty really stood out as something special. The menu pairs perfectly with their huge drink selection, which includes a ton of beers on draft as well as cocktails. Ordering at the bar helps keep things moving, and our food came out hot and fresh without a long wait. The atmosphere definitely leans into the Irish pub vibe — grungy, sticky floors and all — which adds to its authenticity. We sat outside on the patio, which offered plenty of seating and a nice change of pace. Pricing was fair for the quality, and overall it’s a spot we’ll return to. I’d recommend Sean Patricks to anyone who enjoys the classic Irish pub feel, whether you’re there for a hearty meal, a wide beer selection, or just the laid-back vibe.

While the service might be a bit slow, the staff is very polite. Over the years, they have changed their menu but still offer delicious meals like fish tacos, burgers with sweet potato fries & onion rings. The margaritas are highly recommended!

Another google roulette brings us here. The atmosphere is fantastic. Pool, live music, corn hole, and several other games. The area outside was great. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Great place to bring your kids and still be able to enjoy some adult beverages. I had a burger, and my spouse had the samples platter with shrimp, cheese quesadilla, and fried mushrooms. The food wasn't bad, not great, but decent. I had the Hickory burger. The burger itself was bland, and the Jalapeño didn't really add anything to it. What made the burger was the bbq sauce. The fries were amazing, and I could have eaten every one of them. The shrimp from the platter was perfect. Cooked well and seasoned. The quesadilla was good. The letdown were the fried mushrooms. They were so watery I didn't even eat them. The service was awful. The guy never offered to refill my water, and we had to go and get our next beer. This is a great place but needs some issues worked out.

Okay, five stars isn’t enough. TEN stars, easily! We had a company work party at Railyard this weekend. It was a great time. Cool place, the food was tasty and fresh. The catered food order was constantly refreshed the whole night. Really good wings! I just want to take a moment to shout out the staff - man, these folks were working. The whole night, trash cans were constantly taken out, patio swept, tables cleared - I mean, I never saw these ladies take a break. And we were there a long, long time!! Bartenders poured great drinks, too. Just all around excellent time, vibes were high and food was great! I work in event planning was so impressed. Well done and thank you all!

As a first time customer here, wasn’t to impressed with the atmosphere… bartenders were on there phones, choosing there own music to play in the restaurant, and vaping.. they should attend more to us paying customers, especially when the place is super slow. Also shouldn’t be sitting on the bar, where customers could be sitting. They could be utilizing the time to clean behind the bar, or the restaurant itself. Over all just looks very unprofessional. Erick Tomas - I’m guessing you were offended by my REVIEW. But just like you everyone is allowed their own opinion of what they experience in businesses. No need to take it personally if it wasn’t concerning you. If you like the place that’s great for you!

Our friends decided to stop here after the river, mostly because of how dog friendly it is. We had a nice night, decent service. But the food was lacking!! Their "salsa" was the worst salsa I've ever had, and I'm not a picky person. It tasted like they threw tomatoes & a pepper into the blender. Extremely wartery, had some spice, but no flavor or texture whatsoever. The quesadilla on the sampler was the world's flattest quesadilla. Barely any cheese in it. The mozzarella sticks were ok but didn't come with any marinera sauce. 3 friends ordered burgers & the server had to come tell us that the kitchen only had 1 patty left in house. I ordered a chicken avocado wrap & it was pretty decent, but the avocado was skimpy & the wrap size was pretty dang small for the price. I wouldn't have been unhappy with the wrap if it wasn't so expensive.

It has a very open concept. There are plenty of outdoor tables under trees. Bar games for the family to enjoy. The food was very good and reasonably priced.

Railyard is a great place for families, friends, and is dog friendly. There are yard games like horseshoes, corn hole, key hole, and ping pong. There are lots of tables outside with shade included. As well as a covered patio, and indoor dining. The food and drinks were great. Unfortunately, we were too hungry, and I forgot to take pics! My kids ate from the kids menu, and were satisfied with the burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches. One son ate the Ham & Chesse sandwich and I was impressed with the choice of ham used. My husband and I both ate burgers and they were great! I chose blue cheese crumbles on a classic burger, and they were pretty big chunks; which I prefer. Overall, the atmosphere is great. For being dog-friendly, it was very clean with receptacles located n various spots.

Pub
Ivar's River Pub is a laid-back indoor-outdoor joint in downtown San Marcos, offering updated Texas comfort food and drinks with picturesque views of the scenic San Marcos River. The pub provides an inviting and relaxed atmosphere for both locals and visitors to unwind while enjoying a wide selection of ice-cold beers, handcrafted cocktails, and specialty spirits. Whether you're there for lunch, brunch, or dinner, Ivar's menu offers unique dishes with generous portions that cater to various preferences.
Tried Ivar’s during a recent trip, and…we loved it so much we brought friends back with us to experience it as well! This restaurant is located across from the Rio Vista Park (one of the most popular access points to the San Marcos River), which means you’ll have a beautiful view should you choose from their ample outdoor seating. There are multiple food options ranging from southern comfort food to more generic American options. We enjoyed a salad with grilled shrimp, as well as a blackened chicken rap. I also recommend the hydrilla drink if you’re looking for a refreshing, non-alcoholic signature drink. Don’t worry, if you’re looking for alternatives to that there’s definitely plenty of beer, wine, and cider options as well. The staff was friendly and super helpful. P.S Sorry for the lighting in the menu pictures! At night they have these blue lights on, which is the only thing I wasn’t really a fan of given that blue light bothers quite a few people’s eyesight.

I was craving a delicious burger that wasn't from a chain or fast food restaurant, so my friend and I decided to stop by this place. I'm glad we did because this burger was exactly what I was looking for. It was perfectly cooked, and the fresh lettuce and tomatoes, along with the cheese that was melted to perfection, really hit the spot. I wish I had remembered to add bacon. The service was a bit slow; we waited for a refill that never came. However, it was a busy Saturday and a holiday weekend. This restaurant is located right by the river, which adds to the foot traffic, and parking can be a nightmare. They do have a parking attendant to manage the vehicles, which we appreciated. I probably won't return until after the river tubing season is over.

Beautiful scenery, it wasn’t too hot and it wasn’t too cold. Today was overall a great day to be out on the patio getting food. First time here! My only complaint is the food didn’t seem to be fresh it seemed as it was leftovers , the temperature of the food seemed to be room temp. I was also disappointed in the queso and guacamole burger while the burger was very well seasoned the cook put so much guacamole it just over powered everything and just became too much.

So glad we stopped here!! We always stop somewhere on our way back to Houston from New Braunfels. We have eaten so many disappointing meals, but this place was great!! We came in a Sunday around 5:30 pm, and were immediately seated at a scenic spot on the patio. Had so much fun watching everyone enjoying the river below. Our waiter John was very attentive and gave great recommendations. All the food was amazing. We had the brisket nachos, the smash burger and the pork belly sandwich. Beer prices were also reasonable. Will definitely be stopping here again.

Fantastic little pub on the river. Gluten free options, even dessert! Staff is friendly and courteous, and don't interrupt you unless they notice a drink or a plate is empty. They have a dog friendly porch, and the wait staff is attentive to the dogs too! Ice water bowls on hot days!

I loved everything about my experience at Ivars! Right off the bat, Hamlet greeted me in the parking lot and was so friendly and fun. I was looking for a new dog friendly place to eat and the deck was the perfect atmosphere for my pup and the view of the river was gorgeous. Our server Lydia was very attentive and a great communicator! I had a lot of questions and requests and she was friendly and accommodating. One of my new favorite spots!

This cherished diner has been serving up tasty meals and fresh baked goods for many years. It is known as the go-to place for mouthwatering American cuisine, including juicy flame-grilled hamburgers, various sandwiches, refreshing salads, and satisfying sides. Gil's Broiler is also home to the Manske Roll Bakery known for its signature Manske Roll pastries.
Friendly employees, beer, music from the 60s and 70s, and a history dating back to the 40s. Fantastic burgers and make sure to try the delicious Manske Rolls they are famous for. Overall good vibe for a campus burger joint.

I had been looking forward to eating here for a while.I live out of town and I hadn't been here I years. I went in close to 5pm. Apparently that is closing time even though online it said open til 10pm and google said open until 7pm. It was all so confusing so I took my food to go. I was unhappy with how many fries were in my order...I don't know if it's normally like this, so I can let that slide. What made me the most upset was that I ordered an order for 8 manske rolls. PAID for all 8, and was only given 4...I even asked if it was okay to order the maske rolls since I was conscious of the closing time and the employees said no problem you can stay as long as you like...I feel like I got ripped off...I'm hoping it was just an honest mistake because they both seemed like nice people

This place just got a huge lift up! New management, better food, awesome staff! Didn't think i was so hungry till I had that first bite of burger. The burgers? Best I've had in years. Came for the Manske rolls, stayed for the burgers.

The pool tables are awesome ✨ such good deals on drinks, I love all the upgrades. Been coming here since 2018 relieved Gil’s is still kicking. They upped the prices a bit but it comes back tenfold in flavor and quality ✨

For a place that has a big Manske Roll sign out front, serving OLD, FROZEN & MICROWAVED rolls (for a premium price) shouldn't cut it. Half the roll was hardly edible. The place looks like they're turning it into a pool bar, sort of. Definitely not what I expected for a restaurant. That's why it was empty I guess. Burger was tasty & seasoned well, so at least 2 stars, but no reason to return here. Disappointed.

The burgers here are super tasty! It’s the perfect spot to grab a burger and a beer, and the pool tables are top quality if you feel like playing a game. American restaurant
Palmer's Restaurant Bar & Courtyard is a long-standing dining spot in San Marcos, Texas, known for its Southern-inspired cuisine and charming courtyard. The restaurant is located inside a beautifully renovated 1920s building and offers a blend of New Mexican and New Orleans cuisine. It has been a popular choice for business dinners, family gatherings, lively lunches, and romantic date nights since 1978.
We had a delicious dinner and our server was friendly, knowledgeable and overall great. The manager, Monte, came by 2x asking if we needed anything. He learned we were fresh in from Boston and gave us all kinds of insider tips to the area! I ordered the Signature Chicken which I never would have (as I cook chicken all the time!)but.. .The goat cheese and preach preserves were outstanding! We loved everything about this restaurant!
K. F — Google review
Nice place, but dated in decor and dark. Started with the Brie appetizer. It was nice, but got cold very quickly. I wouldn’t get that again. Loved the short rib enchiladas and the Texas margarita. Enchiladas were served with rice and zucchini, which I love, but would rather have had rice and black beans. Service was amazing. We came in a little after 4 pm and were asked if we had a reservation. Restaurant was almost empty, but maybe they expect you to make a reservation.

From the moment we walked up, we were mesmerized by the vibe of this restaurant/bar! The waitress, Paris P, was a fantastic server. The food was well worth the wait, and the special purchase of a Bourbon Gift for Dad (1806 Old Fashioned, rocks glass and pecans) was a great touch! Will def I nicely return!!
Jessica H — Google review
We came for cocktails and at at the cocktail bar section. We only ordered the charcuterie and salmon to share. Both dishes were good but in my strongest opinion, not worth the price. As for the cocktails, we each had a variety of martinis and all were superb! Will definitely come back just for the ambiance and cocktails.
Amy L — Google review
This sophisticated restaurant on the outskirts of downtown San Marcos wraps around a beautiful courtyard. They have numerous tables in several dining rooms as well as a bar area. Their menu is reasonably priced for how thoughtfully composed and executed the meals are. I enjoyed the pecan crusted chicken and look forward to trying the meatloaf. They also have an extensive menu of desserts and cocktails, particularly different Mexican martinis. They have a small parking lot alongside the building and overflow in an adjacent lot.

First time guest. Sat in the bar area. Andrew was our bartender/server. We usually try to visit upscale nice restaurants on our Sunday outings. Palmer's did not disappoint. Andrew made some great recommendations for our meals. We had the 3 egg omelette with crawfish, variety of veggies and hollandaise sauce. Potatoes, crispy bacon that was probably the most perfect and flavorful that I have had in a long time. Only complaint was the potatoes were not hot. But I could actually overlook that minor issue because they tasted so good even at room temperature. We had a salad with the vinegarette dressing which was a nice surprise if flavor. I'm not a crouton eater but these must have been house made they were so good. Not sure they were but I was surprised. We also had the pancakes that were the closest to homemade. They weren't full of artificial flavor or vanilla extract to cover the cheap taste. They were so good you could eat them without butter or syrup. (Well to be honest I need the syrup but my wife didn't.) I do like to relax and enjoy a few drinks as well. I tried a variety of drinks from the Apricot buck, Mimosa and a Bee string. They were all good. My next visit I plan on a few other of my favorites. The juice is fresh squeezed and they infuse a variety of about 7-9 flavors of vodka. Something new for me was the flavor infused ice balls. The atmosphere was comfortable and cool walking in but as the day continued the room felt warm. I'm sure due to the customers and the door to the courtyard being used. One plus for me was that the owner/manager Monte and Kyle visited the table. We were welcomed and asked how our dinning experience was going today. You could tell from the conversation and the true concern they were interested in our visit. I look forward to next trip. This was truly an A+ experience in dinning. I already look forward to my next visit. Probably later this week or Friday for the early hours. We did have a slow Sunday so hung around for a little bit. I think the bartender got a little frustrated but it not like it was overly crowded and we were taking up another customer tip. Sorry if that was the issue but overall it was a good time Even though you may say not the case. Sometimes reading people is easy.
Robert S — Google review
Hands down one of if not the best dinning experience I have had in San Marcos. From the lovey Host Claire opening the door for us and seating us on the beautiful patio with the pretty fountain! Our sever was Alyssa and she was great! Always refilling our drinks or the 3 baskets of bread we had.. Even had chats with the other severs Sami and Kaitlyn they were very nice! Don't even mention the size of the Chicken Fried Steak was definitely bigger then my stomach shout out to Wyatt in the kitchen! Big thanks to Willie in the kitchen for giving us a delicious complimentary birthday new york cheesecake that came out on a fancy plate with a candle! Along with the others the Chicken Pesto Flatbread was another loved food choice at our table! Also had a chat with the manager Kyle! Sounds like he has alot of cool stories! Shoutout to my son and his girlfriend for picking this wonderfull spot for my birthday will definitely be back!! Thanks again Palmers!!

Came here for steak night as I hadn't been here in a long while for their steaks and the only thing I was disappointed in was the fact that I got there late because baked potatoes had run out but they substituted loaded fries instead. Other than that, this place is THE best place to be in San Marcos for a steak in my opinion... Especially for the fact that it comes from a bar and it comes from a food truck you would not even know it!!! The establishment has their system down to a T and the staff let me tell you, EVERYONE is so friendly- from the door guy, to the bartenders, to the"bussers" picking up after you've finished eating to even the customers themselves. It is such a chill place and the fact that they are pet friendly I feel is a plus because it just gives me the opportunity to love on some fur babies after I finish my meal🤷🏽‍♀️

I like Zelicks because it is unpretentious and has deliciously cold drinks. I've always been treated with respect by the bartenders and they honestly seem to care when they give you tequila shots. There is a nice water station positioned central to the bar. Even when it is packed in there you don't have to wait long for service. They have a nice pool table and PLENTY of seating. It's a good mix of locals and students. Good beer selection too.

Hey Daniel if you’re asking about prices at Zelicks, maybe you should buy your beer at HEB and stay home and drink. The bar is great. Drinks are very fairly priced and the atmosphere is both relaxed and fun. This is the go to spot for my friends and I. The bartenders are great. They’re friendly and definitely know what they’re doing. I’m hoping this business stays open for many more years! Been coming here since 2018.

Izzy was absolutely amazing! From the very start, she made sure everyone felt comfortable before getting in the water. She explained how to paddle and gave us a clear idea of what to expect on the tour. Izzy is incredibly smart and knowledgeable—you can instantly tell how passionate she is about what she does. Her fun facts were so engaging, it felt like she was bringing a textbook to life! This experience truly wouldn’t have been the same without her. Thank you, Izzy! 🔥

Night kayaking was an absolute blast—even though my spouse and I nearly divorced over who was steering the kayak. 😆 Nothing like paddling in the dark to really test your communication skills! One of us wanted to “go left,” the other insisted on “paddle harder right!” … and somehow we still managed to go straight into a patch of reeds. But honestly, it just made the night even more memorable. Once we figured out how to work together (and stopped blaming each other), the calm water, starry sky, and peaceful vibe were breathtaking. Miriam, our guide, was amazing—super patient and funny, and she somehow managed to keep us both from flipping the kayak (or each other). If you want an unforgettable experience—and maybe a free couples therapy session—definitely book the night kayaking tour. 10/10 would argue again. 😂

My husband and I have been coming here since we were students, before they had their liquor license (circa 2017-2018). Their pizza is the best and they have unique specialty pizzas. We recommend the Randy Marsh, Pickle Rick and Stoner Pie but you can't go wrong with anything. I want to give a shout out to the bartender. We were directed to scan a QR code to access the “Holiday Menu,” which had a very limited selection. I typically avoid leaving negative public reviews, preferring instead to give feedback directly to the Manager on Duty and simply not return if the experience is poor. However, this visit was disappointing enough to share. While hunger often makes food taste better, we found ourselves unimpressed by the quality here. 🔹Food: Chicken Club Sandwich🔹 I ordered the Chicken Club Sandwich with bacon on the side and a side of sweet potato fries. Unfortunately, they were out of sweet potato fries, so regular fries were substituted. The food took longer than expected to arrive. The grilled chicken breast was small and slightly tough, and the sandwich was very dry. I ended up adding mustard to make it more palatable. It was supposed to come with a side of mayo, but that never arrived. The sandwich itself was basic: dry bread, a thin slice of tomato, and one small lettuce leaf. On a positive note, the bread was toasted properly. The fries, however, were disappointing—wrinkled, half-burned, dry, and limp. It’s surprising how fries, something so simple, could be prepared so poorly. 🔹Food: Pulled Pork Mac-n-Cheese Sandwich🔹 The Pulled Pork Mac-n-Cheese Sandwich was also underwhelming. The macaroni resembled something out of a cheap instant box, with barely any cheese and a dry texture. The pulled pork lacked flavor and seasoning. My husband ate it because he was hungry, but it was far from enjoyable. 🔹Wine: Boxed Rosé🔹 The only redeeming aspect of the meal was the wine pour, which was generous. Unfortunately, the wine itself was not good—it tasted as if it had been open for too long. 🔹Atmosphere🔹 To add to the experience, a spider joined me at the table while I was having water. It seemed defensive, so I left it alone, much like the overall service we received.

Absolutely disgusting! My girlfriend and I finally decided to try this place after passing it all semester. We were very excited as we heard good things from friends. As soon as we got there it took a little for our server to greet us, after we had been greeted the server brought out our drinks and they were flat. We asked for a second drink and was still flat. After our server took our order, it took about 30 minutes for our food to come out. (Keep in mind, it was not busy). The food was actually pretty decent until my girlfriend picked up the other half of her chicken sandwich and to our surprise there were two ROACHES in her food! We are not the type to make a scene or complain but this was not something we could not pass on. We flagged our server down to let him know what we found and he had little to no remorse for what happened. He comped my girlfriend’s meal and we only payed for mine. It was just very upsetting that no manager came out to apologize to us. We will not be going back.

The McConauhaze was cold, and the Chicken Club and side salad was delicious. The hubbs enjoyed his burger and mac, too. Best part was our bartendress, Layni. She's awesome! And we got a 15% discount for sitting at the bar (Monday-Thursdays!)!

Came in for lunch today (9/28/25) around 12:15. It was me, my daughter and her friend. Only 4 tables of people inside and 2 outside, so not very busy in my opinion. It was seat yourself and waitress came over, took our drink order and had a bothered attitude. She came back took our appetizer order and we waited 15-20 min for chips and queso. She took our lunch order and we waited 45 minutes for our food. Waitress slid one plate down to the wrong person so we just smiled and handed it to correct person and waitress said “oh I can’t remember who ordered what!” She finally came back after I had to ask for mayo twice, and we told her we needed a drink refill, she never came back with drinks. Waitress visited with what appeared to be a table of her friends for 15 minutes, until I finally waved at her to get the ticket. This is the first time I’ve dined and not left a tip. Horrible attitude and service. It would be different if they were busy but she literally hung with her friends while we waited for drinks. Won’t be back.

Okay so I just wanna say CRAFTHOUSE is the best! We are here everyday almost while by daughter does jujitsu across the street they welcome my son with special needs with open arms and aren’t bothered by his stimming. The waitresses always have a smile and are friendly 🖤 Mitchell is by far THE BEST! The way he dresses a beer, he needs a raise boss! Great place, good and atmosphere- A Regular

Seven of us for dinner. Two sets of parents and three college kids. I have never seen hard fried pot stickers, but that's what we got, which was very disappointing. The fried chicken sandwich was so basic and dry that KFC would be embarrassed to serve it. My brisket quesadillas were soggy with grease. The brisket burger was probably the best thing we had. The kids said that their wings were okay. I like the looks of the place, it seems like it could be a fun place to hang out, but it's just so so for food and very hit-or-miss. I think the best thing is to go there and drink beer.

Cool spot but service definitely needs improvement. I think our server was overwhelmed because it was super busy, I had to get up and grab my water from the bar. We were missing stuff and it would take forever to come, the food came two plates or so at a time and some were left sitting there. The food was okay but was just frustrated with the service at the point we all got food.

Restaurant
Thai Thai Cafe is a no-frills eatery that serves up classic Thai dishes like curries and noodles. Located in a simple strip mall setting, the restaurant surprises diners with its delicious food and friendly service. The extensive menu offers a variety of tempting options, with the staff willing to adjust spice levels according to your preference.
The food was fresh, quick, and hot. Wait staff was very attentive. They were even nice to say that maybe my mother in law should not get a 5 on the heat scale. My mother in law said that 2 was just right.

I ordered from Door Dash and the food arrived and looked nothing like the pictures on their page. It was all noddles that were stuck together and gray beef that looked inedible. I took three bites and tossed this $30 plate of hot garbage in the trash where it belonged. I called the lady and told her to check their food for QC and she blew me off. Be careful ordering from this place!

The food was outstanding! I enjoyed a soup, and my husband had a full plate. Don’t be fooled by the exterior, and though the interior is a bit dated, we’ll definitely be coming back regularly.
Julie R — Google review
I got the chicken Pad Thai, more vinegar than peanut flavor but not bad flavor. The reason for such a low score is the crumbles of peanuts they used had turned - you could taste that bitter oil flavor. Also, I chomped a bite of chicken that had hard gristle in it and hurt my tooth! The person who worked there was nice and they were quick! It’s a standard Thai looking restaurant no frills but that’s no problem. The noodles themselves were good.

I was highly impressed with this place. It is a simply decorated place in a strip mall, right across the street from the San Marcos HEB. Wasn't expecting all that much based on some of the other reviews. It was far better than expected! Our server, who I believe was the owner was exceptionally accommodating and friendly. She made great menu recommendations and was very descriptive about the food and cooking process. The food itself was absolutely delicious. The drunken noodles were the perfect spice level with a great ratio of noodles to meat, and they substituted squid in place of shrimp for me. The pad Thai was fantastic along with the chicken pho. The fried rice had good amounts of brightly colored veggies that were extremely fresh. All dishes were huge portions for the prices which were all just over $10. I will definitely be visiting this place again.

Delicious, as always! The one very nice server was attentive and helpful throughout our dining process. The food is always fresh, piping hot, and has both bold and subtle flavors making every meal option an adventure of flavors. The atmosphere is quiet and calm, with beautiful art added to the walls. Highly recommend trying this restaurant out when you get the chance. PS: They’re hiring PT and FT serving staff right now if you’re interested! 😊

I ordered egg rolls and they were cold, ordered noddles and they we super sticky you couldn’t even eat them. I had to ask them to take it back. Then on top of it I saw a cockroach and that was it for me. Not coming back. The food honesty seems to be there for days and they just heat it up.

Grins Restaurant is a laid-back venue in San Marcos, popular among the college crowd. It offers a tree-shaded deck and serves American eats and drinks. Visitors love the flavorful entrees like loaded potato crisps and chicken fried chicken platters. The portion sizes are generous, and the service is always friendly. It's known for its homey and tasty comfort food, with favorites like nachos, queso & chips, chicken fried steak, and fresh salads.
Our visit to Grins was last month and honestly we will definitely go back. Catfish was crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside. Ribeye was well seasoned and tender. Chicken Fried Chicken batter was very flavorful and crunchy, but the inside was juicy and tender. Steamed Broccoli was perfectly cooked, Mashed Potatoes with Gravy were so good, as well as the Loaded Mashed Potatoes, Macaroni was vell cooked and had the right amount of cheese and lastly Dinner Roll was so soft and good. Our appetizers well also so good.

I'm SO HAPPY this place is under new ownership! This uniquely San Marcos restaurant has had new life breathed into it! The restaurant has amazingly friendly staff, is SUUUUPER clean, and the new owner is adding food offerings to the menu, while maintaining the staple dishes the restaurant is best known for. Have you even been to San Marcos if you haven't eaten at Grins? Be sure to check them out!

Grins in San Marcos is a truly vibrant slice of local history, serving up down-to-earth meals with excellent service since 1975. The unique, lively atmosphere, complete with a 70s to 80s rock soundtrack, stays true to its roots, offering a genuinely feel-good vibe where you get to step back in time where the food was good and the music was even better. The food at Grins truly shines. It's honest, comforting cuisine executed to perfection. The catfish is legendary—crispy, flaky, well seasoned, and moist. Their chicken fried steak is a true Texas icon, served with rich, savory gravy. And don't miss the broccoli cheese soup; it's a creamy, cheesy revelation—pure comfort in a bowl. The service is exceptional; the staff are not just efficient but genuinely friendly, making you feel right at home. Grins is more than a meal; it’s an experience with a truly unique and energetic atmosphere.

Our son graduated from TX St and really wanted Grin's. He called after the river jump, and they were able to accommodate a party of 13 with minimum wait time (around 15 minutes). Thank you, Grins, for accommodating us on short notice. Our server (Kate M) was outstanding, and the food was delicious (pics). We will definitely return. Highly recommend 👌

Fantastic experience. Good food, good service, good vibes. Visited on a Sunday Afternoon and was seated right away. Prices are reasonable and portions are large. Outdoor patio is the place to be. San Marcos staple since 1975.

Grins might be the most appropriately named restaurant in San Marcos—because we left with full stomachs and big goofy smiles. Let’s talk food. The ribeye? Certified hit. Juicy, flavorful, cooked like the grill actually cared. The chicken fried steak was straight-up legendary—crispy edges, soft inside, smothered in gravy like it owed you money. Easily a Texas classic done right. Now… about those onion rings. Look, they were fine. Crunchy, decent, but they didn’t exactly change our lives like some folks made it sound. The mashed potatoes fell into that same “pretty good but not writing home about it” category. The staff though? Superstars. Friendly, fast, and knew the menu like they were born holding it. Big win there. And then—banana pudding. Not just good. Not just great. Absolutely amazing. The bomb. A straight-up must-try. If you leave Grins without ordering it, you did Grins wrong. It’s that serious. The cake (we had the chocolate) came in second, but it held its own. Unfortunately, no carrot cake that day... which honestly felt like emotional damage. 😭 All in all, Grins lives up to the hype with good food, great vibes, and banana pudding that might just change your priorities in life.
Mason M — Google review
I was a bit disappointed given the excellent reviews. Though the atmosphere was nice and the waitress was very affable the chicken fried steak was a bit tough and the crust kept falling off if it . The 29.99 price tag for the prime rib may be a bit high. The catfish tacos were good.

Incredible Hospitality — Even for Our Pup! We had a fantastic stay! From the moment we arrived, Miriam went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. She was not only professional and helpful, but also genuinely kind and attentive to every detail of our visit. The deck was spotless, the vibe was relaxing, and everything just felt thoughtfully taken care of. What really stood out, though, was how accommodating the staff was with our dog. It’s not every day you find a place that treats your furry family like part of the crew — and this team did exactly that. Our pup was spoiled with affection and even got a little treat from the front desk. All in all, a five-star experience across the board. Thank you, Miriam, for making our visit memorable. We'll definitely be back! 🐾💯

City park
San Marcos Plaza Park is a charming five-acre park located along the San Marcos River, offering plenty of space for picnics, games, and family fun. The park features a playground for kids and hosts various events at the San Marcos Pavilion and Stage. Visitors can also explore nearby attractions such as San Marco Square with its dining options, trendy boutiques, and art galleries.
The park is always nice and the grounds are well maintained. I walk my dog here sometimes. My most recent visit was for Pet Fest. The event was a lot of fun.

Terrific place to walk and enjoy the San Marcos weather, the only complaint that needs to be addressed is how dirty and disgusting the walkway is underneath the E. Hopkins St. bridge. The bridge smells of disgusting black water, the lights don't work and the entire ceiling of the bridge is covered with mold and large amounts of spiderwebs riddled with dirt. I don't understand how this still hasn't been cleaned, its been like this for years and has not yet been fixed, makes me wonder where the money goes. The lights in the park have a 50/50 chance of working which shouldn't be the case. The city should take priority in fixing these issues because its getting to the point where its just negligence allowing for the park bridge to remain in that condition.

Cute park! My good friend hosted a birthday tea party, and it was so nice to sit there, enjoy the breeze, and view the beautiful scenery. We could barely hear any cars driving by.

I love the sunny paths, all the families and dogs playing, and of course the river. Only down side is the cyclists zooming around corners and having to dodge them.

Beautiful, fun, romantic. What more can I say? Great place for a walk or a swim. The water is chili at first, but it feels great. Highly recommended on week days, the weekends are a bit crazy and a drunkest on summer holidays. The water's current is strong, so be careful, even when it looks very mild.

Loli's Cafe is a popular spot known for its exceptional breakfast tacos in Central Texas. The cafe, located at a car wash, serves up delicious tacos with fresh, warm tortillas and homemade salsa. Customers rave about the generous portions of bacon and other fillings in the tacos. The staff is described as friendly, helpful, and efficient, providing excellent service to both walk-in and drive-thru customers. Visitors also appreciate the consistent quality of the food and the quick service.
This little spot was so delicious!! The line was a little long but we got to the window pretty quickly! I even got to meet Lolis and her daughter! They were very kind! The picadillo loaded was our favorite 🤤

Love this place, these people, these tacos and the salsa, but can't come as often as we used to with all the rising prices. I get it but I also don't have any raise in income to be able to keep coming. Will just have to enjoy the times we do go.

I wish it wasn't so small and rundown looking. It was interesting to see it used to be a car wash, but it was a little weird and complicated to drive through. Great freaking tacos, though.

Loli’s is a San Marcos staple! The best tacos in town with the best service from the best group of ladies. When I bring my Shetland sheepdog with me and they see her in the back sea, they give her a whole side of bacon for free. Never disappointed with Loli’s - from flavor to price to convenience!!! Remember to tell them if you want to add a tip to your order (they deserve it so you should :)

I absolutely love Loli's, my first time going here was a couple days ago and I had my dog with me, Dexter, so she gave him bacon! She also gave me a free breakfast taco because it was my first time there which was so sweet. The breakfast tacos alone are to die for! They are so big and so filling and the flavor is also just so yummy. If you go, you have to get the combo ranchero and the green salsa and a side order of their rice. I came back again today with my dog and she said "hola dexter!" - she remembered him and gave him extra bacon this time hahahaha!! I will be a loyal customer here and I'm very excited to try their lunch as well!! Thank you for the yummy food Lolis!
Hannah R — Google review
It's...ok. I feel like San Marcos residents have a different flavor palette. I grew up in San Angelo and the food is much better there. I keep trying these highly rated places and I'm routinely disappointed. The other place that people "love" is Herbert's and it's not anything special. I went twice to be sure I wasn't missing something and both times disappointed. I like that Loli's is drive thru and it has two lines which makes it very accessible and convenient. When exiting tho... there's a huge drop off that you need to manage carefully. Do not take your lowered car here. The ladies inside are nice and remind me of my Tias in Big Spring. They feel like family.

Today was my first visit after a Google search for breakfast tacos. This was hands-down the BEST choice I could have made. And I got a free taco on my first visit! Service was excellent, tacos were beyond perfection, and I cannot wait to get back for my next visit! :)

Great place to watch football! Very affordable, awesome seating! Texas State plays really good competition so games are fun to attend! Will definitely go to many more games in years to come!

If you’re a football fan who appreciates a great stadium experience, Texas State University’s Bobcat Stadium in San Marcos, TX is a must-see. This stadium perfectly blends size, beauty, and an electric atmosphere, making it one of the most underrated gems in college football. From the outside, Bobcat Stadium immediately grabs your attention with its impressive structure and modern design. The stadium seats over 30,000 fans, creating the perfect size for an intense yet comfortable game-day experience. Whether you’re high in the stands or right on the sidelines, there’s not a bad seat in the house. What makes this stadium even more special is its setting. Nestled in the heart of San Marcos, the surrounding hills and Texas scenery provide a stunning backdrop for football. During evening games, the sunset casts an incredible glow over the field, adding a unique charm to the experience. Inside the stadium, the facilities are top-notch. The video board is massive and crystal clear, ensuring you never miss a play. The seating is spacious, and the concourses are wide and easy to navigate. Concession options are solid, offering a mix of classic stadium snacks and Texas-inspired favorites. On game days, the energy is contagious. The Texas State Bobcats fan base shows up strong, and the band keeps the crowd engaged from start to finish. Whether you’re a die-hard football fan or just looking for a memorable experience, Bobcat Stadium delivers. Its combination of size, beauty, and vibrant atmosphere makes it one of the best stadiums in the Lone Star State. 5/5 stars — highly recommended!
Jeremy G — Google review
The stadium needs an overhaul. That said the layout and access are easy to navigate. Parking is available everywhere. Concessions are typical. When/if the overhaul comes maybe contract a couple upscale vendors. Seating is ample and I don't think there are any bad seats. We paid $20 to sit in section 120 and were really close to the 50 yard line. Didn't know it at the time but you can bring in your stadium seat which i recommend unless you pay for the more expensive chair seats on the home field side. Lots of restaurants around and easy to walk to from the stadium. Plus the walk is pretty. In fact the entire campus is rather picturesque without really trying. The games are fun and the fans really get going. Inexpensive way to have a fun time with family or friends. We will have season tickets next year. GO BOBCATS!!!

The energy of the students on game day is just out of this world. That alone makes this stadium a 5 star rating I would say.

We recently visited this stadium for a BOA competition. The parking was horrendous. Being mobility challenged, there was no place close to the entrance gate for my husband to drop me. We had to park a country mile, since there was no handicapped parking available. The elevator is not well marked, and the handicapped seating inside the stadium is at the endzone area. The staff was extremely friendly. Due to some kind of regulation, we were made to leave the stadium between the prelims and finals. Being mobility challenged and using a walker, this was a needless waste of energy for me. Golf carts were made available to return to our car, only to have to walk BACK to the stadium for finals. And I had to walk across a RR track!!! There were at least 5 trains that passed during the competition, making it difficult to hear the bands.
Michele M — Google review
Stadium is soo much nicer than when I graduated in the 90s. Prices are great compared to other college football. 6.00 beer is better but last yr was only 4.00. Reason for 4 star. Great game good team this yr.

My son Gage Mallory and I were invited to Bobcat Stadium for a senior visit for the purpose of his becoming a member of their football program. The staff and coaches were very knowledgeable and kind. They were very organized and were able to answer many questions that were geared towards the courses, housing, transportation and their football program thoroughly. There was transportation provided that was handicapped accessible and cool for an unsually warm winter day. The well planned guided tour included the campus, the locker room, the football based areas within the campus, and their beautiful Bobcat Stadium. The event was catered by Jason's Deli which provided a delicious and health conscious meal that was complimented by the famed Bobcat Stadium high rise. Bobcat Stadium is well designed, modern, and luxurious. The rich blend of wood and natural light created a laid back atmosphere of decadence and comfort. The view of the field from their exclusive high raise was unsurpassed. The overall experience was excellent. My son Gage Mallory is still very interested in their football program. We are grateful, and very appreciative for his invitation to the Texas State University!!!

The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment offers a unique experience with its glass-bottom boat tours of Spring Lake. Visitors can book a 30-minute tour to marvel at the lake's depths through the transparent bottom of the boat while learning about water conservation from knowledgeable guides. The center focuses on environmental education, research, and outdoor learning, providing various exhibits for visitors to explore.
Plenty of parking and awesome boat tour for $12 per adult entrance. They run tours every half hour and there was no wait. The guide was very informative and really beautiful nature can be observed from the boat as well as through glass boat floor. The water is crystal clear and blue on some areas, there is also scuba divers courses there. There is a small aquarium that can be visited for free afterwards on the property. The 3rd floor has a beautiful view of the entire lake.

What a cool place! The glass-bottomed boat tour was the highlight. Our guide Connor was knowledgeable and engaging, we got to see lots of the animal and plant life as well as the springs feeding the lake. It was hot but the boats are fully covered so no baking in the sun! The trails around the lake and indoor aquarium were both the best kind of hands-on fun science for us and our children. Easy parking, clean bathrooms and lots of picnic areas!

Very small, and very cute. The boardwalk trail takes you through the wetlands—it’s maybe 15 minutes, a nice easy walk. The glass bottom boats were a ton of fun and well-worth the experience. Probably not necessary to do the extended version. Nice little aquarium. Plan to spend a few hours here—it’s charming, but not an all-day event.

I reviewed the boat tour separately so this review is for the free Meadows Museum worth checking out before or after your boat tour. It's a fun little place with interactive exhibits and educational information, as well as different fish and living things related to the lake. The kids enjoyed learning and seeing everything, and don't forget to visit the rooftop for some cool views!

We bought tickets for the glass bottom boat ride and discovered a lot more they had to offer!!! The glass boat ride is amazing. We saw so many fish and turtles. It so clear and beautiful. They told us about the free aquarium and on the 3rd floor of the same building was an observation deck over Spring Lake. The view was amazing. Really pretty place and I’m glad that they saved the old park. The glass bottom boats are fun. The walking path through the marsh is neat and so is the aquarium. Definitely recommend.
Dawn J — Google review
My family and I love the boat trip. We have a 12 and 21 year old guys and they enjoyed it a lot. We didn't know they have an aquarium and a wetland (free to the public) with otters. Planning to return soon

Don Japanese Kitchen

Japanese restaurant
Restaurant
Dons Japanese Kitchen is a straightforward restaurant that serves chicken and seafood dishes, along with sashimi and rice bowls. Despite its small size, the restaurant successfully combines Japanese and Mexican culinary styles to create exceptional meals. The flavors of their sauces and tofu are particularly impressive. Visitors have reported enthusiastic greetings from the staff, quick service, and delicious food such as the belly dish. The restaurant's ambiance is described as super chill with city lights vibes, adorned with lots of decor.
Amazing street food here. Everything dish we tried was amazing. Takoyaki - 10/10 Pork Belly - 10/10 Nan nan/Karage - 10/10 Torch Salmon - 8/10 The 3 mayo sauces were amazing. They had curry, wasabi, and spicy. For a non spice eater like me, it was still good for my taste buds. Ordering was easy. They were kind, explaining every item in detail, and the person who served our food was super nice. Since we were sharing, he brought us sharing plates. The place had limited seats, but we were able to get a place to sit, considering it was Valentine's Day.
Dharshini M — Google review
The Torch salmon is killer. Raw salmon with some kind of glaze and blowtorched? the top of on a bed of rice and seaweed. I like the multiple options of mayo Don's has. Choices of spicy curry and wasabi. Spicy and wasabi were great on the salmon. The curry mayo was weak in my opinion. Smallish sized placed which kinda gives it charm. They got everything on the walls for charm: decorative art, skateboards, dollar bills, you name it Japanese they put it up. Bathroom was smallish and kinda backroomish as you would expect from a china town style joint in San Frisco. Small and not impressive looks wise but clean.

First time. Clean, nice, friendly. Guy gave me a rundown on what people like which was good. The spicy sauce was better than expected. Curt sauce yummy. I had teriyaki chicken. Plenty of chicken. I will be back for round 2 and possible more👍👍
Dennis T — Google review
My goodness they are so quick. The same people have been working here forever and they never fail! The chicken teryaki is amazing on a bed of rice and little seaweed flakes on top. Plenty of parking, always open for dinner, always affordable, always delicious, and always makes you feel at home. They offer 3 bottles of sauce on the side as well that include spicy mayo and wasabi mayo. I highly recommend the Don style fries and they can drown it in teriyaki sauce and/or spicy mayo for you. Been coming here since the Austin location in 2017. Love yall!

I’m so happy to have eaten here today after years of missing it! I would eat at Don when it was at UT in Austin- it was a gem back then and still is today. Edward’s ethos to care for the people he is serving has not changed. They keep sauces complimentary and give you a water bottle for no extra charge. In this economy?! I don’t know anywhere else like this. There is care in every box and the food hits every time. Will come back every time I pass through San Marcos :)

Canteen style catering for university students. Most patrons are students. Portion was generous. Free seating bench style. Free bottled purified water. No real wow factor.

I'm heavily anxious so the at atmosphere was a bit intimidating (came at a busy time. Fault is mine) BUT the food is wonderful and so is the staff! The portion sizes are big and soo worth the price. Definitely coming back with friends!💜

Amazing food at great prices! Friendly staff. I usually get stir-fried veggies and hubby gets teriyaki chicken then we share. Don fries taste great and are a great side or appetizer for 3-4 people. Get lost in the sauce!

Nestled in San Marcos, Wow-Wee's Cafe is a charming little eatery that specializes in delightful Tex-Mex breakfast and lunch offerings. Known for its mouthwatering tacos and generously sized burritos, this cafe has become a must-visit spot for food lovers. During my visit, I was thrilled to discover their barbacoa quesadillas and the bistek plate, which came with freshly made corn tortillas that were still warm.
We were just passing through San Marcos and we stumbled across this place. The barbacoa quesadillas were great and the bistek plate was amazing. Came with homemade corn tortillas hot to the touch. Staff was very pleasant and they are obviously renovating the building. Overall while the price seemed high to begin with the overall experience and taste of the food was more than worth it. Definitely coming back here when we pass through again.

If I could give a half star I would. Ok so … a potato and Cheese taco is $2.25…… most of the tacos are $2.25. However, I asked for a bean and cheese taco. (Simple taco) They charged . 50 cents more for cheese for a bean and cheese taco……but a potato and cheese is normal price! :/ (the math aint mathin) Bc we ordered 8 bean and cheese tacos it added a whole $4 charge on top of our bill ( to add cheese to beans) Not to mention they give you a tablespoon of food inside your taco. I was like umm can you please fill my taco up maam? Im not paying $2.25 Plus .50 cents for a tortillas with a smudge on contents inside. Thats crazy! Trust me .. save your money 💰 and go to Fuego 🔥 down the street! Or anywhere else!! At least there you get what you pay for. That was crazy bro 🙄don’t trust me! 😆 go see for yourself.

The online menu is not up to date. I went to order a carne guasada plate and was informed the menu had changed 2 weeks prior. I was told either the pastor or the steak would be close to the same (I knew it wouldn't but I decided to give it a try since the lady working was very nice). When we got home I realized they forgot our green salsa, our tortillas were barely cooked and small, the rice and beans were bland, and my plate was missing my limon. I ended up getting pastor and obviously it was nothing like the carne guasada. It was super dry and had little to no flavor the only slight flavor I could taste was a hint of limon. My boyfriend ordered a barbacoa plate and it was NOT that. It had pastor written first on top then scratched out, possibly hoping we wouldn't notice that it was not at all what he ordered??? What a waste of money. Their prices used to be so amazing and the food used to be something special, but now it's just over priced white washed Mexican food just like every other place in town

This use to be my favorite breakfast spot in San Marcos since moving here three years ago, unfortunately management has seemed to change and that brought some bad changes with it. I was very disappointed to pay for overpriced, tiny tacos with burnt cheese and a lack of homemade charm. I’ll miss the old owners and wish them the best but it looks like I will have to retire this place.
Cassie C — Google review
I took my mom out to what I thought was WOWes but it’s not called that anymore and it is called Bonita Maria. WOWes used to be so yummy. I went and I was greatly disappointed. We ordered a queso and they never brought it to us until my mom asked for it. When it came it was super water down and tasted reheated. Super overpriced and for what. No AC either. Our waitress was more attentive to her phone rather than us and we were the only customers! That should’ve warned us and be our cue to leave. Paid 30$ for two tacos and a plate. Ridiculous. I got a water and there was particles in my cup. Gross. Anyways, I hope they get it together. We will not be coming back and I hope I don’t get food poisoning.

This use to be my favorite breakfast spot in San Marcos when I first moved here in 2021 for school, today I stopped by and seen that unfortunately management has changed but still decided to give it a try. I was very disappointed to pay for overpriced burritos with a lack of homemade charm. I moved to Austin but still stop by every time I’m in San Mo. I’ll miss the old owners and the cook who remembered me every time I came to visit no matter how long it was! Wish them the best but it looks like I’ll be retiring this place.
Jeida B — Google review
What happened!!!!!?? Was my go to place 6+ years ago, was passing through SM and stopped in expecting the same amazing food I had before......(queue sad face). Completely new place in terms of food, I was expecting the tacos I had years ago and was met with smaller, more expensive tacos that lacked the home made goodness I fondly remember. If you have never ever been here you won't be as sad as me.
Morgan L — Google review
Very sad. Loved coming here weekly; asked the lady and discovered they’re new owners. Now they use store bought tortillas instead of home made, size of taco got smaller, prices went up. Not worth it anymore, you’re much better off spending the same amount of money at a better breakfast place.

American restaurant
Cafe on the Square is a laid-back eatery that serves up classic American fare and breakfast dishes, with the added bonus of outdoor seating. Guests rave about the delicious beef quesadillas and appreciate the welcoming atmosphere. The diverse menu caters to various tastes, and attentive servers like Ashley enhance the dining experience. The establishment boasts a cozy ambiance with ample space for patrons to enjoy their meals.
Wow! Came here because of our son's recommendation. What an amazing place! The vibe feels like an old school diner. Breakfast is served all day, and the menu is quite large. Highly recommend the Three Amigos appetizer (guacamole, salsa & queso with chips) & chicken fried steak / eggs. For dessert, they have a variety of pies, and the ones we had were outstanding as well. As you can see from the pics, the food looked great. Everything tasted so fresh & was full of flavor. If you're around the San Marcos area, do yourself a flavor and visit this place. You won't be disappointed! Parking: we parked around the corner, behind the building, and parking was free.

I’ve been coming here for over 10 years and it’s still my favorite spot downtown. The community wouldn’t be the same without it! Great food and all my servers have been phenomenal to us. Outdoor seating on the square is dog friendly which makes coming here a special treat for me and my chihuahua!

Our first time visiting, it was pretty good. Chicken fried chicken was slightly overcooked but still good, onion rings are delicious, mashed potatoes and gravy were good. We waited a little longer than expected to get the food (they were not busy) but it came out very hot and fresh. Hubby got fried catfish and he liked it. Not much parking in the front but we parked across the street and walked.
Rebecca L — Google review
First time in. I'd like to leave a higher review because the NY Cheesecake and drip coffee were delicious, but the service wasn't good. I wanted dessert and was very happy to see a dessert refrigerator when I walked in. The place was nearly empty, quaint and cozy. Rather than being greeted or asked how I could be helped, I was just immediately told "you can't have your dog in here" by a blonde girl (who strangely reminded me of JoJo Siwa). My pup could have been a service animal, but that wasn't considered. The server seemed like a cool girl, and while it's understandable that the service industry can cause one to lose their filter, it goes without saying that poor service like this deters customers from returning.
Ceissyl T — Google review
Friends took me here recently for my first time and joy to the world was I missing out. Our server was kind, patient, informative and on top of it, we waited for nothing. You can tell the freshness by the delicious, spicy salsas and veggies I had in my huge omlette. There was no skimping out here. Portions were quite generous. We will definitely be back.

Kobe Steak House & Sushi is a Japanese restaurant chain known for its hibachi items, traditional dishes, and sushi. Customers have raved about the all-you-can-eat sushi option, which includes soup or salad, appetizers, and rice choices at an affordable price. The portions are generous and the quality of the rolls is highly praised. The restaurant also offers grill-side seating where chefs put on a lively show while cooking.
The eel was flavorful, tender, and perfectly glazed. The fried shrimp appetizer was also great—crispy, hot, and not too greasy. I also had some tuna and salmon nigiri, and both were super fresh and well-prepared. The salmon, in particular, just melted in my mouth. Service was friendly, and the vibe of the place was fun but still chill. Overall, everything we ordered was on point. We definitely be back! Instagram: eatwithjarco

I’ve been coming here for a couple years now and it’s always a hit or miss (mostly with the service). But today I was served expired steak. I had it sent back only to be served another bad steak. And it honestly looked like the same steak as before. In the past I was served chicken that wasn’t fully cooked and sent it back. I only gave this place another chance because my child loves the soup here…however, today was the last time I’ll come here.

We were forced to wait even there were plenty of empty tables. Horrible management and host. The host was rude. The food and sushi were bad. We only went there out of no choice around the area. If you really want to eat a good sushi go somewhere else. The owner is quick on charging you additional cost if you don't clean up your plate. I strongly suggest avoiding this dump all together. The owner or manager is too cheap to hire adequate number of servers. If you are hungry you will be disappointed. 👎👎👎
Sadasy V — Google review
I went here for lunch with a coworker and we were served the wrong roll. It looked nothing like the picture. The girl didn’t bring my wasabi and ginger with sushi. I had to ask and they were out of hot tea..The atmosphere just was not great. The table was dirty. The sushi left something to the imagination to be honest. I probably won’t return.
Stephanie D — Google review
We arrived for dinner and chose to be seated at the grill. I drink order was promptly taken and we ordered our meals. The staff was kind and attentive. Our chef was energetic and friendly. Our food was cooked in front of us with some fire theatrics. We notified them of a shrimp allergy and they were careful to cook it last so it did not mingle with the other foods. Once the meal was plated, it was on the saltier side. Condiments of yum yum sauce or ginger sauce were served generously. The serving size is large so look to take home plenty of food. We would return.
Christian G — Google review
I had dinner with friends here, and we all got the unlimited sushi. It included appetizers and other kitchen items, as well as sushi rolls. The rolls were served for the whole table, and it was a great chance to try lots of different rolls. The service was great and we really enjoyed everything we ordered.

I’m going to start this off by saying i’ve never written a google review before. I work at Texas Roadhouse and I serve there. I understand how servers feel when someone walks in 30 minutes before close. Unfortunately we as servers do not get the option to give attitude. Me and my boyfriend walked into this place at 9:20 and they close at 10. We were going to be mindful of that fact. We walk in and the host tells us “we can’t serve the special menu” mind you, we had no idea there was a special menu and it felt like it was only said to make us feel uncomfortable. then proceeded to ask a cower out loud if they were still selling sushi and the guy had said yes, obviously they are still making the menu 30 minutes before they close. she sighed and walked us to a table. seconds after we were sat the waitress yelled a questioning “it’s 9:30” across the restaurant, wondering why they sat us 30 minutes before close. the host shrugged her shoulders and left. The waitress approached us with attitude and we had left. It’s unbelievable how the staff acted especially because we were going to order a decent amount in a short amount of time and tip well over 20%. If i had acted that way at my job i would’ve gotten fired. do better.
Gianna B — Google review
You get what you pay for with the endless sushi, I guess. Super mid; tons of rice with little bits of fish. It had a weird tap water taste to it and didn't seem very fresh. Sashimi was pretty decent. Waitress was very nice but took forever in between our orders when they weren't even close to being crowded, so maybe they're understaffed. It wasn't terrible but I honestly probably wouldn't go here again in fear of getting sick, or would at least stick to the cooked entrees.

Texas State Tubes is a company that offers affordable and hassle-free tubing experiences on the San Marcos River, just 10 minutes east of San Marcos. They provide parking lots at both the beginning and end of the float, along with a one-way shuttle service for convenience. The company caters to private float trips for groups of at least 10 people and also offers public beatbox floats. Trips typically last about three hours, providing a relaxing and enjoyable experience.
This is my second time on the river but for sure the best experience. Booking online was a breeze all the way down to the check in point to grab my tube. However, within the first 30 mins two of the floaties we brought from home popped. We called the phone number we found on Google and they told us they would bring us the floaties at the first check point. When we made it to check point Sky was waiting for us and was so personable and kind and funny, she made this experience so easy for us after a stressful couple of minutes. After a couple minutes of waiting Desaix brought the new tubes. They also provided tips on how to keep safe moving forward on the river! Looking forward to coming back soon. Thank you Sky and Desaix for helping us and proving a positive experience!

We go here every summer as a family river float. Plenty of tubes, plenty of parking, and the San Marcos is absolutely the best for river floating. Waters always 72° and clean. Texas State Tubes is my go-to for river floating in the area. Highly recommend if you’re floating the San Marcos. Takes between 3-4hrs to float with a family. Cooler rentals and cooler tubes rentals also available.

It was very very fun. The staff were very helpful. The trip is quite long. But it was a lot of fun p. They even have coolers you can rent

Took my out of town friends for their first tubing experience here and can’t recommend enough! We had TWO of our tubes begin deflating only 30 mins in and when we called the number for any possible assistance they not only helped track our location but guided us to where we could get some help. We were then lucky enough to have Sky & Desaix bring us new ones and give us tips on how to be extra smart on along the river. The BEST interaction I’ve had in the multiple times I’ve been!
Andrea B — Google review
Got there as soon as they open so there's no long line and easy parking. You pay & sign waiver while in line. Easy to get in water, careful with some rocks and to lift your butt, take a paddle so you don't bump into sides and pop your tube, very helpful, take umbrella, sunscreen, aqua socks, your own string if your tying anything to your tube and have carabiners to hook your tubes & other items like aqua socks together. Relax, eat & drink for about 4-5hrs.

My friends and I had so much fun today!! Sky was so much help with getting our tubes bought and she was very funny and personable, what a queen! Also loved her blue hair #twins! Definitely will be back next summer for the 3rd year! 🔥

Patio Dolcetto is a charming and casual cafe located in the Hill Country, offering a relaxed atmosphere for visitors to enjoy delicious food and craft cocktails. The bistro-style eatery features a natural Pecan wood bar with a hand-carving of the San Marcos River, as well as art displays from local artists.
The perfect afternoon pick-me-up! We couldn’t get enough of the hummus and charcuterie board — that honey goat cheese? A total game-changer! I might be slightly obsessed with the house pretzels and dried mango too… okay, who am I kidding? The whole board was a masterpiece. And let’s talk martinis — the chocolate espresso martini was a decadent dream with the perfect blend of rich chocolate and a bold espresso kick. The raspberry martini was just as amazing! Basically, we were living our best snack-and-sip life, and I already can’t wait to come back for more. Cheers! 🍹✨

The atmosphere was absolutely exceptional—elegant yet inviting. This is an upscale restaurant that truly goes above and beyond, all while remaining surprisingly affordable. The cocktails were masterfully crafted, bursting with bold, unforgettable flavors. The food was nothing short of extraordinary. I experienced flavor pairings I’d never encountered before—each dish challenged and redefined my expectations of what a meal could be. My wife and I celebrated our 10-year anniversary here, and we couldn’t have chosen a more perfect place. The entire experience was outstanding from start to finish—worthy of the highest praise. If you’re considering a special night out, do yourself a favor and visit this beautiful gem of a restaurant. You won’t regret it.

Such a cute vibe; Patio Dolcetto is a great place for a date night. We often come for bingo night, but they also have trivia and live music pretty often. Delicious flatbread pizzas, and I enjoy their mocktails.

I came here this past weekend and we reserved a table for a book club meetup. They had inside/outside seating and both 1st /2nd floor levels with seating for larger and smaller parties. The service is great (the girls were very attentive), and the atmosphere is so beautiful, calming and scenic. The happy hour deals are so good and we came on Sunday which in my opinion- Sundays deals are the favorite. The deal was $25 for a any full board of your choosing (charcuterie board/ cheese board) with a whole bottle of wine (you pick the wine of the day). I also had a $10 mimosa carafe (pineapple, orange, and cranberry flavors) that was also on special. Prices are fairly priced and I love that you can come to this place for books club, dinner, winery tasting, a date, or a casual outing. They had little paintings here and there on the buildings which was cute. This is a hidden gem 💎 in SMTX. You can’t beat this place, the weather right now is perfect

Delicious food. Huge portions. The Bacon Jam Fries Appetizer is HUMUNGOUS! It's big enough for two people to share as a full meal. Be careful, it's rather spicy (but yummy). Also, if you still have room left after that, I highly recommend the Aqua Brew Burger cooked medium rare.

Disappointed because food pictured on Google is no longer being served by AB. However you can order food from Industry next door and bring it in. This is just a brewery. The beer was good and unique tasting. Only $8 for a flight! They do not have other drink options so be prepared if you come with non-beer drinkers. Staff was extremely friendly. The space and seating is nice if you want to gather with some friends, chill and play some games. Just wasn’t what we were expecting.

Atmosphere: Industrial casual, nice outdoor patio Service: Pretty slow but courteous Food: White Queso was delicious, with pico de gallo and guacamole, chips were a bit on the stale side. I could rave about our great waitress (Lyndse), brag on Chef Joe's creative genius and attention to flavor profiles, or I could just let you know this venue is an excellent choice for delicious food and vibes. I'm going to do all of that and let you know that the Elote is Heavenly. Joe told me that he was inspired by "the lady down the street who sold it" when he was growing up in California. He mixes the raw street flavors with a carefully poised ailoi that wins every succulent bite. Pro Tip: Go for the Strawberry Shortcake. Do it. Whether you're looking for a relaxed date night, meeting a client, meeting friends, or celebrating...this is the spot to choose.

Our service was great despite other reviews. We made the special trip out to the brewery from SA since I’d liked their Apricot beer. Bacon jam fries and burger was amazing, other things we had tried were just ok. All and all, pretty good! Can’t go wrong with the beer and stick with anything bacon jam lol!

Aquabrew is a great staple of the San Marcos beer scene. Their $1 beer special is beyond amazing, especially after trying a flight of others. This would be a great place to watch the game or end a date after eating nearby. As of 9/15, getting into their parking lot is a bit tricky with all the construction along their road.

Rhea's Ice Cream is a must-visit spot in San Marcos, Texas for anyone with a sweet tooth. This stylish and quirky counter-serve offers an array of original ice cream flavors, including vegan options. The ice cream is made in small batches and can be enjoyed in various ways - from freshly baked cookie sandwiches to handmade waffle cones or simply in a dish. Visitors rave about the quality and unique flavor combinations that make Rhea's worth returning to regularly.
Quaint little ice cream shop. There are several flavors to choose from. The goat cheese and strawberry was unique and surprisingly fantastic! The staff were friendly and talkative. This place is quite small, but has both indoor and a table outside for guests. I imagine it's a popular place when it's warm. If I'm in the area again, I'll stop by for a treat. You should too! Enjoy!

Small place. Walk too quickly and you might miss it. Friendly accommodating service. Popular ice cream flavors quickly sell out. Ordered Banana Pudding & Vanilla flavored ice cream. Crushed cookies with S'mores flavored ice cream. Milk sourced locally. Support local.

Best coffee Oreo ice cream! Great place, can’t beat $4 a scoop (compared to the mall shops) and the cone is very tasty. Would be cool if they added some board games, hopefully soon.
Nalley E — Google review
If you’re near Texas State University and craving a sweet treat, this cozy ice cream shop is a must-visit. The friendly staff makes you feel right at home, and the ice cream is absolutely delicious. With both indoor and outdoor seating, it’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy your dessert. Plus, they offer Rhea’s Ice Cream merchandise for fans looking to take a little piece of the shop home. Highly recommend!

Really phenomenal ice cream in both flavor profile and low density structure. Waffle cones were also deliciously crispy without being too hard/crunchy. Good artwork and friendly staff. This might be the best ice cream I've had. Will certainly be back.
Shelby R — Google review
Really good ice cream, I was obsessed with the coffee oreo. Last time I got it though, I came down with the worst food poisoning for about a week. Whoever was working at the time seemed preoccupied with friends and grabbed an ice cream scoop off the counter, without sanitizing it. Great ice cream but I don’t believe I will be back due to this instance. A real shame cause the coffee oreo is life changing.

The guy behind the counter was patient, helped me try some flavors, and in general was pretty nice. The Blueberry Honey Basil ice cream was weird in the best way, and tasted really good.
Curtis B — Google review
Delicious ice cream. Seriously good. Had caramel sea salt, pecan praline, pumpkin cheesecake, and goat cheese with raspberry jam (my fave).

Industry is a bar and restaurant located in a renovated industrial building, offering American cuisine, craft beers, and cocktails. The venue boasts modern design mixed with raw charm, creating an inviting atmosphere filled with local art and a vibrant energy. It serves a variety of dishes from veggie-packed bowls to smoked brisket tacos. With over 20 beers and cocktails on tap, guests can enjoy their drinks indoors or play games on the patio.
The Industry is a casual open air restaurant it's super chill very relaxing. Loving the industrial deco vibes. Service is beyond great our waitress knew everything about the menu, awesome personality and skills. Stop in and try the sweet potato fries, they are delicious 😋
Rachel M — Google review
We have to give the staff two thumbs up. They were great and were always available. The servers and runners were the best part of the restaurant. The food, however, wasn't enjoyable. Plus they didn't have any ceiling fans or air circulation so the big old garage doors are thrown open for circulation. So the flies had free access to the restaurant and we fought off so many of them during our visit. The most enjoyable food we ate was the sweet potato fries. We want every business to succeed but we just cannot recommend the food. The restaurant is located in a prime location and you can see by the other reviews that a lot of people seem to really like the place. It's your time and money.

We stopped by here for a quick bite and stayed for a full lunch. We were not disappointed. I enjoyed my fried Texas catfish. it is run by young people and the freshness of their approach was attractive to me. This place has different dishes from a regular restaurant and the furnishing is industrial and the name (of the restaurant) implies.

I absolutely loved the live music!!! Brisket tacos were delicious & you can even add brisket to the quesadillas, if you’d like. Bartender got my drinks out QUICK; their draft selection was great :) Manager on duty, I believe her name was Kelsie (hopefully I didn’t misspell her name lol) came around and ask how we were, said goodbye, definitely made the experience here even better! Overall, good food & drinks & great workers :) coming back again & definitely brining my family when they come up to visit!

I would definitely recommend this place...great food for a decent price! I'll definitely be back! I recommend, if you can't handle the outside heat, waiting til cooler times of day. The place is opened up to the outside. The staff was really friendly and helpful. We both ordered The Industry burger which we both agreed was AMAZING! For apps we had the green queso w/ brisket n chips and brussel sprouts. We also shared some Parmesan fries. They were ok. I had a mixed drink called a Pre...something. It, as well, was great! 👌

This place is seriously yum. I ordered cauliflower tacos and they were so delicious. I do eat meat so I can’t imagine how yum everything else is on the menu considering how amazing they could make smoked cauliflower. Far superior to anything Vegan I have had in Austin. Better than Taco Deli. Better even than Peached Tortilla. Truly surprised. Nice staff. Nice chill atmosphere. Quick service. Highly recommend!

Good was very good but very different so it might take me some getting used to. Ambiance is the best! love the industrial feel and open space. Clean restrooms yes!!! grateful for the nice service.
Dr. J — Google review
I visited for about an hour and had a great experience overall. The fried fish I ordered was delicious, and I really enjoyed watching the cocktail-making process — it added a fun and engaging touch to the afternoon. That said, I do have a couple of suggestions. It would be helpful if guests were provided with utensils promptly, rather than having to ask for them after the food arrives. I understand it was a busy time, but small details like this can make a big difference. Also, if certain items are unavailable, it would be great to have that clearly communicated or displayed so guests — and your staff aren’t put in an awkward position. Looking forward to visiting again! Regards Devraj Basnet

Chipotle Mexican Grill

Mexican restaurant
Chipotle Mexican Grill is a fast-food establishment that specializes in Mexican cuisine, offering customers the opportunity to personalize their own burritos, tacos, and bowls. The food consistently meets expectations, with take-out being the preferred option for many patrons. While orders are usually accurate, there have been instances where a different beverage was provided instead of what was requested.
I don’t write many reviews but I would not doing my part if I did not fill in people who frequent Chipotle. I am a routine customer of Chipotle in the central Texas area. I walked into this Chipotle in San Marcos on LBJ and first noticed how dirty the restaurant was. I went to the line to order my bowl and the first words out of some young worker was we are out of steak. I normally order steak then I decided to go with chicken which looked disgusting. I asked if they had steak on the to go line in which she retrieved some. I finished ordering my bowl and asked for chips which they stated we are out. I asked when they would have some ready and they stated not this evening. I was there at 4 pm. After I paid for my meal which was a mistake I went to retrieve my drink and utensils. I noticed this area was disgusting as well and they had no forks. I asked the cashier for a fork and she rolled her eyes at me and gave me a fork. I told her the restaurant was in need of cleaning and she replied I can not leave my position. A few minutes later a young lady started refilling the utensils and I asked if she was the manager which she replied, “yes.” I told her the restaurant was disgusting and she asked me what did I mean. I pointed out a few things in which she stated thanks! I then threw my food in the trash and left. I can only imagine how much they don’t clean the cooking and prep area. Pretty sad. This place is disgusting! I recommend not even letting your dog eat here. Look at photos and make your own mind up! Get it together!

I have been a regular customer of theirs and always had a feeling that their food isn't fresh but never complained but today after seeing a dead fly inside my food I can't control myself from doing so. How do they even get the chance to operate with such an unhygienic environment? After today's incident I will think twice before ordering any food from them.
MOHAMMAD N — Google review
I’ve been coming here for the past week or to. And there customer service is horrible, they never have what I want they never offer for a replacement or they can make it real quick. There overall customer service is very bad. I would not recommend coming to this location after 7pm they never have anything available or always out of everything, from rice to veggies and the falafel is from the lunch rush. Once they run out they never make more. They need to hire people that care about there job and not just come to work to get paid. They mostly have college kids working there and it’s ridiculous they never care about the people that come in to order food and they always have attitudes

My partner and I ordered the exact same thing about five minutes apart. When we compared her burrito was nearly twice the size and she wasn't charged for the guacamole. The two dudes serving were clearly showing favoritism toward a woman. I then went up for another order just to check and made sure I was behind a woman. Then I ordered exactly what she did, to no surprise our portions were different, the woman got more in her burrito than I did despite my repeating what she said verbatim. The male servers I had were clearly being sexist and showing favoritism. This was weeks ago and I got busy and didn't bother to complain I was just proving a point to my partner but I figured I'd leave a review since I was reminded of it after someone mentioned almost the same thing earlier tonight about their experience.

I have got a lot to say about this chipotle. Unfriendly, unsanitary, and most of all unprofessional. Many times they have just small line and are STILL incapable of making the as well as this many times, the employees have been rude to myself and people I know even most recently I walked in just a few minutes before I had my order scheduled to be ready. I said hi how are you doing today to the employee and they responded to me with a blank face and a scolding impression. There was no one in the line and they were doing absolutely nothing at the register. I then asked if my order was ready and told them my name and he said what then told me your order will be ready for when you placed it even though I was just a few minutes early. Worst chipotle ever even though I am a huge fan of chipotle overall and love their food, but the people there are not doing it right that’s for sure.
Tyler P — Google review
LOVE having plastic in my food.. it definitely adds the extra flavor considering i didn't get the queso or fajita veggies i ordered and wasn't notified that they were out before they packed my order 🙈
Z Z — Google review
They consistently miss items on online orders. They consistently have stale chips. With the prices we pay and the stingy amounts they serve, it’s not worth it. I’m sick of paying so much money for missing items (like 3+ items per online order).

Wow, such a great local Tex Mex restaurant! Clean, great service, yummy drinks and fresh food! You may be full but don't forget the sopapilla's!! Go local, anytime you can!

Great hidden gem! Excellent happy hour specials! Having lived in San Diego for years, we are kinda food snobs, and this place DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! OMG it was authentic and not greasy! Fresh cilantro, Limes, pico...it was really very very good!!

I had a really good experience here! The staff was super friendly and attentive from the moment I walked in. They made sure we had everything we needed and checked on us several times during the meal. The food was good, but what really stood out was the great service — everyone had a positive attitude and made the visit enjoyable. The place was clean, comfortable, and had a nice vibe overall.

I hadn't been to Rogelio's in quite sometime, but recently heard they had great margaritas so we hit them up on a Monday night I didn't want to cook. What a glow up y'all!! They have a nice bar, great happy hour (desserts included), and a wonderful staff. I took two kids and had a wonderful meal! If you have never been, or haven't been in a while like me, I highly recommend swinging by. A nice hidden gem here in our lovely San Marvelous! The margaritas are super fresh and clean too! We will be coming back!!!

The food was delicious. Everything was fresh. The service was fast. The cheese quesadillas have my heart! 🥰

Found this when looking for authentic and good mexican food nearby, it was great! The sour cream chicken enchiladas are a little underwhelming but the birria street tacos were to die for. the queso and the salsa was great and so was the sweet tea. the server was super attentive and it wasn’t too busy! 10/10 recommend trying!

My husband brought me to this place and OMG no disappointment everything was great, so great that I Forgot to take pictures. The quantity is so great, hot, & fresh. Sarai was so wonderful waitress love it, sorry this is the only picture I got but was so good
Christe G — Google review
The food here was really good! The Chicken Champiñón was very flavorful and had just the right amount of cheese, the Mushroom Enchiladas were also good and had a spicy heat to them. The Margarita was not too sweet. The chips came with two options for salsa, both red and green had a nice heat to them but the green was hotter. We did agree the beans could have used a little salt, but then we were able to salt to taste. The service was great. This restaurant is family friendly and is it still owed by the same family who started the restaurant.

Fast food restaurant
Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers is a fast-food chain that specializes in crispy chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries, and Texas toast. The staff are always prompt and friendly when greeting customers and taking their orders, ensuring a positive dining experience. Whether you choose to dine inside or use the drive-thru service, you can expect quick service without sacrificing quality. The food is prepared efficiently with perfectly toasted Texas toast and fries that strike the right balance between softness and crispiness.
They are always quick to greet us when we walk in and take our order. I never have had a bad experience and I hope I never do. The drive thru is just as quick as ordering inside. They make the food pretty fast. The toast is just right. The fries are not to soggy and not too hard. The chicken can be requested extras fried if you want. If you do pick up to go I highly suggest you open the lids until you get home so the good doesn’t get soggy. I hate soggy wet feeling chicken.
Varonica R — Google review
Feel like the food used to be better and they forgot our coleslaw in both of our meals. And the girl at drive thru handed my husband our drinks and didn't put the lid on one of the drinks and it spilled all over the inside of my car and on my husband's pants... she did not apologize at all and didn't even offer him another drink... he had to ask
Kelley M — Google review
Food was fresh and great. And thats a problem. When you serve hot chicken on Styrofoam... it burns holes through it. Nothing with this location. Its every location. Its very unhealthy to intake melted Styrofoam.... plus it leaves fries and bread sweaty. Its the worse combination. Youre better off going butcher paper
Eric S — Google review
Service was great, we were greeted and welcomed. Guy in the front was cool. The chicken tenders were very small and tbf not worth the hype. Canes sauce is good, the bread was tasty as well. Fries are good. Chicken not so good.
Carlos B — Google review
The drive through lane was into the street and I told my husband, maybe we should go somewhere else. He said, no, the line will move fast. He was right. The line moved quickly and our meals were delish.
Cindy R — Google review
The food is usually really good and so is the service despite it being a busy location. Had an awkward and uncomfortable experience ordering recently with one of the young women at the drive through. She didn't make eye contact, didn't greet me, just stood there in silence for a minute 🧍 before I asked if she was ready. Only got more awkward from there but spoke with a manager who said they'd coach her up so I appreciate them at least listening to my complaint.
