Manhattan Beach Pier, the oldest on the West Coast, stretches 928 feet into the Pacific Ocean. It's a lively spot with street performers and artists entertaining tourists year-round. At the end of the pier, visitors can explore an aquarium and watch surfers and boogie boarders taking on intense waves. The pier also features plaques dedicated to beach volleyball legends, showcasing Manhattan Beach as the Beach Volleyball Capital of the World.
Manhattan Beach was such a peaceful and refreshing stop during our trip to California. We went in the evening, and the weather was perfect — cool and breezy. The beach wasn’t overly crowded, which made the experience even better. We spent some time watching surfers riding the waves — it was calming and fun to watch! There’s a small aquarium at the end of the pier, but unfortunately, we missed it since it closes at 7 PM. The surrounding neighborhood is really charming and laid-back. We loved taking a relaxing stroll through the quiet streets. A lovely, chill beach experience! Note: lots of food options around & a very cool ice cream place at a walkable distance

The city of Manhattan Beach maintains the public restrooms. It’s clean and so are the beaches. I see no signs of trash or vagrants. The pier has an open to the public aquarium. It’s free and run by volunteers. Great for all ages. The pier is great for pedestrians. No bikers or skateboarding allowed. Public parking is limited to five hours on metered.

Last week I had a chance to visit the Manhattan Beach before I board the airplane in LAX. I know the west coast is well known for sunset views. It is very true that sunset is gorgeous. The piers in Manhattan Beach adds a lot of flavor to the sunset. If you walk underneath the piers you’ll get a real treat of the sunset scene with surfers and family photos takers and other water sports youngsters. There are many beautiful homes along the beach. There are also many restaurants for you to choose. It ls a worth a while place to visit if you are in LA area.

We stopped at Manhattan Beach during our drive from San Francisco, and I instantly fell in love with it. The vibe of the place is incredible — relaxed, welcoming, and full of that classic SoCal energy. The beach itself is beautifully maintained and impressively clean, which made walking along the shore even more enjoyable. The pier was definitely a highlight. It offers stunning ocean views and adds so much charm to the entire area. Parking was easy to find, which made the visit stress-free. I honestly wish I could have stayed longer to soak up more of the atmosphere. If you’re looking for a scenic, peaceful, and well-kept beach to unwind, Manhattan Beach is a must-visit. 🌊☀️

The sand was very clean and soft, wind was pleasant, but the water quality was poor (high bacteria per health reports). The pier was in good shape but people ignored the signs saying things like no dogs, no scooters etc. Good spot for pictures and a very, very, small aquarium at the end. Other than that no vendors or shops. You have to go up the hill to town. Parking was only 2 hrs on the street and in the lots.
Adora — Google review
We love this place for short walks. Especially free small aquarium at end of pier. Lots of shops and dining too. Sand is soft. Lifeguards on duty. Beach is clean and sho no signs of trash. A lot of trash bins prior to heading to the shore maybe to remind visitors to Throw their trash on the way in or out.
Macsy M — Google review
The beauty and power of the sea will elevate your innergy; even on a day the sun is slightly hiding. The waves are invigorating, without touch. Sand between toes with sea water seeking into the skin of feet, rising into one’s vessel, is incomparable. I love it! What a dream to live along the oceanfront!

Manhatten is a nice Upscale beach community. A great variety of restaurants and boutiques to fit everyone's personal preferences. Seems to have plenty of paid parking lots and meters along the main roads. It's a steep grade to walk to the Pier.

The Strand House in Manhattan Beach is a popular spot for farm-fresh fine dining with stunning ocean views. The restaurant offers a sleek setting and friendly service, capturing the essence of California's dining scene. Chef Chris Park and his team use locally-sourced ingredients to create a menu that reflects the state's influences, featuring dishes like chili-spiced avocado salad and squash curry. While seafood is the main focus, there are also meat and vegetarian options available.
Note: I am ranked top 10% of Google Restaurant Reviewers and do not receive any compensation for these reviews. I went to the Strand House with my wife and two kids on Labor Day weekend. We were looking for a place close to the beach with half-way decent food. As many of you know, if it has a view, the food doesn’t have to be good. With that in mind, we had little to no expectations for both the food and service. It was all about the beach for us. We were pleasantly surprised to find both excellent service and great food. We were there for brunch so I can’t speak for dinner. I had the fried chicken and waffles which is usually hard to do well. Most places usually screw up one of the two. The chicken is usually too dry or greasy or the waffle is hard and dry. The strand House nailed both. The service was also surprisingly good. Everyone was attentive and polite and obviously took pride in provide great service - something hard to find nowadays. We are definitely coming back. And yes, the views were amazing!

We were looking where to eat on Manhattan Beach. Everything was quite busy as it usually is on a Friday night. I looked at the menu and decided that the grilled octopus sounded tasty and spoke to the host and she said there was no wait if we went down stairs to the lounge it was full dinner service also. We gave it a shot and we had a really fun time. The server was great. The atmosphere was really fun. Good music plane. Drinks were fun and the food was good.

I honestly can’t believe this is the first time I’m writing a review for The Strand House — I’ve been here several, several times! It’s one of those places that never disappoints. Usually, I come for brunch, but this time it was a later lunch that still featured the brunch menu (thankfully!). I ordered the chicken and waffles, and they were absolutely amazing — perfectly crispy, tender, and full of flavor. I paired it with the Woodsman cocktail, which was smooth, balanced, and just the right amount of boozy warmth. My parents were just as happy — my dad couldn’t stop talking about how much he loved his lemon drop, and my mom was fully satisfied with her meal. From the ocean view to the service to the food and drinks, it was 5 out of 5 across the board. If I could give it more stars, I absolutely would. The Strand House is a Manhattan Beach classic for a reason!

The Baseline: For a sit down upper-scale restaurant is the quality of the food, existence of any unique offerings, quality of the service, and ambiance of the overall dining experience. Food: The Hand Cut Frites are my favorite thing to get here consistently which are fried in beef tallow and taste like awesome in physical form. Yes. This. Also steak, with the Dry aged ribeye which was cooked to other people’s preference (aka not medium rare) but even with that extra level of cook on the meat it was tender and the flavor of the meat shined through. I ended up liking it better than the Beef short rib which was still incredible and tender. The crab cakes were also good for a starter. The donuts were okay, but only because I feel my go to donut shops are the better donut. Service: Great service for the night we were there and our waiter was attentive/engaging. Lots of check ins and water was kept full. We felt well taken care of and worth a +20% tip to our waiter. Ambiance: The Strand House is a gem of a location in Manhattan Beach adjacent to the pier. The openness of the dining area with the outside breezes came into the restaurant with a nice low lighting to make it fell comfortable. This is a higher class dining experience and it is worth it for the experience.

GET THE CINNAMON ROLL TO SHARE! For about $17 you’ll get a massive cinnamon roll that’s super delicious and a great way to start brunch. It’s fluffy and comes with a decadent caramel sauce that is super buttery! Great beachside restaurant that has wonderful views overlooking the Pacific Ocean while serving some really good food! The burger was really good too and would recommend along with the Huevos Rancheros. Great atmosphere and would recommend making reservations for the weekend as it does get busy. Service was good for how busy it was.

Great views and ambiance. Jorge and his team did a great job taking case of us. The view of the ocean with the Matthan pair was beautiful. The food was flavorful. We has the Watermelon Spritzer, baked class, 1/2 dozen oysters and shrimp cocktail as well.
Renett Y — Google review
**Warning** Parking is a nightmare here and that frustration alone makes it a tough sale BUT the food was pretty good. I did feel it was a touch pricey for what we got. The real big turn off here is the restaurant is like a night club. Loud music and everyone trying to talk over it. I think you remove a couple tables and lower the music and add this with the great ocean view this place would be a easy 5 star
Randy — Google review
We were strolling through Manhattan Beach, browsing the shops, when we stumbled across The Strand House—and I’m so glad we did. The ocean view alone is breathtaking, the perfect backdrop for dinner. I started with the Ginberries cocktail, which was light, refreshing, and exactly what I needed after walking around. For dinner, I ordered the chili spiced avocado salad with added king salmon—absolutely delicious and something I’d definitely order again. I also tried the hand-cut frites, served with garlic aïoli and roasted tomato ketchup. Not only were the dips incredible, but they serve a huge bucket of fries—definitely worth sharing (or keeping all to yourself!). Overall, The Strand House was a perfect surprise find. Great food, amazing drinks, and unbeatable views. Can’t wait to go back next time I’m in Manhattan Beach.

Bruce's Beach, situated in Manhattan Beach, California, is a picturesque sandy beach offering opportunities for swimming, sunbathing, and kayaking. Nestled amidst beachfront houses and cafes, this coastal gem holds significant African-American history. Once owned by Charles and Willa Bruce, the beach stands as a symbol of resilience and perseverance. Visitors can enjoy the serene location with stunning ocean views and take leisurely strolls along the shore to the pier.
Bruce’s Beach is a historic landmark and a popular gathering spot for those looking for a getaway in the beach cities. The area features controlled parking and offers stunning vistas. You can relax on the grassy knoll or head down to the beach. No matter where you are in the Bruce’s Beach area, you’ll find yourself in a beautiful oasis.

The history behind Bruce's beach is something all California's should know. So much hostility over such a small sliver of land. The view though is amazing, the atmosphere has been great everything I visit and in many ways it feels like an homage to the original owners of Bruce's beach. Its an amazing place to catch the sunset.

It was a wonderful beach, wonderful people and the atmosphere was great and the waves were big. Great for surfing. No racial tension. I went on the 4th of July and it was packed. I've been here before earlier this year it wasn't packed. There is limited parking so pack lightly and you're gonna have to walk a distance. There is no food vendors just a beach ⛱️ I still recommend this beach for people who wanna ride bikes and play beach volleyball and walk the beach or get in the water.

One of the best parks overlooking a beach in the Los Angeles county area. 3 levels of grass to picnic, relax and exercise. You can walk to the water from the park in minutes, and even get a quick calisthenics workout in on the parcourse.

Park seems like a good place to watch the sun set. We were looking for basketball courts and this park has hoops but they’re on a sidewalk so not enough space for a game but you can shoot there.

Beautiful beach area that came with a history lesson. I suggest if you're in this area, stop by the sign that explains the history of this beach. It's right by the bath house and wow, the history that's connected to this area. I most definitely agree with them returning the beach to the families that once owned it and was taken from them. Again, worth the history lesson! 💝 My son and I enjoyed spending the day here.

Pizza restaurant
Italian restaurant
Manhattan Pizzeria is a pizza place located near the beach that offers New York-style pies, subs, and calzones in a relaxed atmosphere. Despite its coastal setting, the restaurant creates an ambiance reminiscent of midtown Manhattan. The shop has a narrow layout, and the owner Bobby Eskowitz, who hails from Brooklyn and has experience at Spago, serves slices that are impeccable and comparable to those found both on the beach and in the city.
This is an interesting “dive” store front pizza place, that sits (ironically) on a main drag of upscale Manhattan Beach Pier restaurants. It’s pretty much a “walk up and grab a slice and go” place. They have other stuff too (salads/subs). That said, the pizza is New York style thin crust, it’s really good, and it’s about $5-$6 a slice so you really can’t go wrong. Order extra cheese to make it extra good! VictorB
Victor B — Google review
Yo, I trusted people when they said that this was very good pizza. In fact, I got an entire pie. This pizza was terrible. I took one bite and threw the pizza slice back in the box. I was so disappointed. The dough was off, the sauce was off. It’s not good pizza — it’s not anything like on the east coast of an attempt to be. I would only go here if you were extremely drunk and needed something to sober you up otherwise save it for a better pizza place. Oh, and what came of my entire pie? I gave it to my Uber driver, who loved it.
Victoria M — Google review
TLDR: Great pizza, restaurant needs some TLC, and no soap in bathrooms. Pizza spot that serves New York style pizza. I remember coming here as a kid, so I decided to take a trip down memory lane and stop by. We were told it would be 40 minutes for a whole pizza to be made, and they weren't very crowded, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they had a lot of to-go orders. We decided to get just cheese pizza by the slice, which was ready within minutes. The food was great. However, the tablecloths were old and ripped in some places. The main concern was with the bathroom that didn't have soap in either the men's or women's restroom. Do with that information as you will, but I assume they wouldn't have an "A" health score if they weren't safe. Would go again.
K K — Google review
I don’t usually leave reviews, but this experience was extremely disappointing. After a night of fishing, we decided to try this restaurant for the first time, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. When we placed our order, there was no greeting, confirmation, or communication whatsoever—no “hello,” no update on the order, nothing. We decided to give it some time since we ordered a large pizza, but when we returned after putting away our fishing gear, our pizza still hadn’t even been started. The staff was preparing food for a group that hadn’t paid yet, even though we had already paid. When they finally began making our pizza, I was shocked by the lack of hygiene. The employee working the register handled cash, then touched the pizza dough without washing his hands. Another staff member was on his phone, then touched our pizza with his bare hands. When I addressed this, he simply said, “I got a phone call.” This was completely unsanitary and unprofessional. I left feeling disgusted and disappointed, and I plan to contact the owner directly to report what I witnessed.
Ashley R — Google review
When we first arrived, we weren’t greeted by anyone. When we ordered and paid for a large pepperoni pizza, the cashier didn’t say a word—no greeting, no confirmation of the total, and no estimate of how long the pizza would take. After waiting about 10 minutes in our car, we returned to check on the order. We noticed that when a group of men came in, the staff’s attitude completely changed, and their order was prepared before ours. What concerned us most was that the person making our pizza was using their cell phone during food preparation, without gloves, handling both the phone and the cheese. Because of these issues, we requested a refund. This occurred during the closing shift on 10/22/25 around 7:00 PM.
Martinez — Google review
We waited over an hour for pizza that fell apart when you picked it up. We were told 20 minutes tops. The workers moved overly slow, looking almost stoned. Don’t recommend it at all. On top of it all I got food poisoning from it. Don’t waste your 40 bucks for a bad pizza.
Jaden D — Google review
The worst customer service I have ever received. I asked to order some type of chicken pizza, they didn't have any chicken, that's fine no problem just give me the same pizza and replace the chicken with pepperoni. From this point on the guy was extremely rude and passive aggressive. I ordered the food anyway and when I came back they had given me the completely wrong pizza with ingredients I don't like. Usually I would forget about it and eat it anyway but it was the fact I didnt like the ingredients I wanted to come to some sort of solution I wasn't trying to be awkward I work in a food shop myself I know mistakes can happen. "Well maybe you should have ordered what you wanted" so I pulled out the receipt which said what I wanted and that I wanted the money back for the ingredients I didn't get, he stormed away and wouldn't speak to me. I wouldn't usually write a negative review however this was more horrendous than I can put into words that I feel the need.
Jake H — Google review
After a nice bike ride down the Strand, I knew I had to take my partner to get N.Y style pizza! She really enjoyed the customer service, the view, outdoor seating and especially the pizza. This is not only customer friendly but due to covid they have secured outdoor seating which makes it a dog friendly spot as well and has definitely won me back! Get the cheese and ask for extra crispy, you wont regret it!

Italian restaurant
Nando Trattoria is a chic and intimate Italian restaurant located in Manhattan Beach. This family-owned establishment has quickly become a popular dining spot, known for its fantastic homemade pastas, breads, meats, and desserts. The menu features an array of spectacular dishes such as cavoletti ortolani and Gemelli San Marco. The ambiance at Nando Trattoria is enchanting with romantic lighting and a cozy atmosphere that sets the tone for a fine dining experience.
Nando Trattoria is a charming Italian spot with a classic, authentic vibe. When I walked in, the aroma of aged cheese was noticeable – not my favorite, but to be expected in a true Italian restaurant. Our server was fantastic, recommending a lovely glass of white wine that paired beautifully with our meal. Since truffle was in season, the chef had a special dish: scrambled eggs with asparagus and truffle. I’m usually not a big fan of eggs, but this was easily my favorite dish of the night – rich and flavorful. We also tried the pasta with lobster and the bone-in steak. The steak was exceptional: tender and delicate, with just the right amount of fat to add flavor without being overly chewy. Our server was attentive throughout, making sure we had a wonderful experience. If you’re looking for authentic Italian with great service, Nando Trattoria is a great choice.
Jorian V — Google review
It takes a little while for the food to come out, but it feels as if the chef is preparing each dish with genuine care. The flavors aren’t mass-produced like in restaurants that push food out factory-style, but instead carry the touch of delicate craftsmanship. I didn’t see the kitchen myself, but the taste was more than enough to create a wonderful memory and a meaningful time with my mother. The staff’s professionalism also perfectly complements the concise menu and its thoughtful explanations.

An Exceptional Culinary Experience at Nando Trattoria – Manhattan Beach From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed into an atmosphere of pure elegance and warmth. Nando Trattoria is the true definition of luxury dining—romantic lighting, refined décor, and a relaxed coastal sophistication that immediately sets the tone for an unforgettable evening. Each dish is a masterpiece, beautifully designed and bursting with authentic Italian flavor. The attention to detail—from the exquisite presentation to the perfect balance of seasoning—reflects true culinary artistry. The seafood was exceptionally fresh, the pastas were delicately crafted, and the dessert was nothing short of heavenly. The service was impeccable, and Dario’s gracious hospitality made the entire experience personal and memorable. You can feel the passion, precision, and heart behind every plate and every moment. Nando Trattoria is not just a restaurant—it’s a destination for those who appreciate romance, fine taste, and genuine excellence. Branzino and the fusilli pasta dishes we had were absolutely delicious. The service and atmosphere are first class. I knew it would be good, but it far exceeded all my expectations. Wish I would have snapped pictures to share as it was presented so elegantly.

Look, this place was amazing! The food was amazing! Our waiter, I can't remember his name but the shorter guy...he was sooo fun! Gave out hugs! Felt like we had all met him before! Best experience! Now, the bottle we bought for $79 was so good, we decided to look for a bottle online to take back to Chicago...it was under $20...I didn't care too much for THAT markup but still a great experience!

Top 3 I've been to in my many years of traveling...possibly #1 but tough to say. Definitely the best lamb chops I've ever had. Service from Juan Carlos was top notch and fun. Ambiance was perfection. Comfortable upscale Italian restaurant in a perfect setting. Cant wait to come back to Manhattan Beach again just to come here.

The mozzarella is to die for and the truffle gnocchi flawlessly smooth and rich. All of the housemade pasta was a treat and all portions very hearty. The restaurant was busy so the staff was hustling yet managed to provide wonderful and personal service. The wine list is thoughtfully curated and is easy to pair. The outdoor setup is comfortable and properly distances.

Love this place! The best Italian food I've have had in LA. I highly recommend this restaurant. Dario, co-owner, made us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. Although I fully enjoyed everything we ordered, my only regret is eating too much of the antipasti and not order more of the primi and secondi. I recommend coming with 4 people so you can sample more items on the menu. I'll definitely be heading back soon.

Seafood restaurant
Rock'N Fish Restaurant is a vibrant local chain outpost that offers a unique dining experience with its seafood and steak dishes paired with creative cocktails and martinis. While some may initially be surprised by the prices, the menu showcases sophisticated Greek cuisine with top-quality ingredients. The restaurant strikes a balance between casual and creative, offering surf and turf options alongside famed oak-grilled artichokes smothered in garlic aioli.
My work team and I had an amazing dinner earlier this month. We had popcorn shrimp for a starter. The shrimp was crispy and the sauce was delicious. I had the rock fish entree and the fish was cooked just right. The accompanying sauce had a great flavor. This location is very close to the beach in a cute area of Manhattan Beach. Our server was amazing. Ask for Karina. She gave us great recommendations as it was our first time there. I’ll definitely return.

Really nice seafood restaurant right in the heart of Manhattan Beach. They serve the biggest oysters I have ever seen. The fish are very fresh and have no fishy flavor at all. The coconut shrimp were big and crispy, packed with flavor. The interior decoration is great and the staff are very friendly.

Came to celebrate a Birthday. Got the seafood food tower, boy this was wonderful!! The seafood was so fresh and the Horse Radish that came with it was the best we ever had. I know that odd thing to bring up but it was that good. I really want to make this an Annual thing to get the Seafood Tower. They have the prime rib on Sunday so might come back or do a delivery just for that. They were celebrating their 25 years Anniversary got the Navy Grogg, which was super tasty and sweet. Got to take the glass home for this celebration. Last but not least, the cream brulee was unbelieveable. The crust on top usually it is thin but their cream brulee top portion is thick and it was heaven. It was so heaven in mouth took 2 for to go. Also got the irish cream and boy that was strong and tasty. The service was Superb. Our Waitress was the sweetest. Thank you for a great time and delicous food.

Great location right across from the beach and very attentive staff but I am going to have to give a mixed review on the food. The clam chowder - delicious. The mac n cheese - great. The tortilla soup - not sure (wasn't my meal). The meat skewer - a little too chewy. The coconut prawns - not good at all. I love coconut prawns and these tasted so bad I only ate one of the four. The texture wasn't great, nor was the flavor. Also, the sauce that came with it in the dish was so runny you couldn't really get a lot of it on the shrimp.

My meal was absolutely amazing and everyone at the table enjoyed theirs as well! We also got the coconut shrimp appetizer and the calamari. So good and the waitress was nice!

We stopped in because of the location and the atmosphere. We loved the food and the service. I know that the lobster was cooked the way many like, just cooked, but I do like mine cooked a little longer, shrimp too. Ate it all of course, it was that good.

The food here is great. Service was top notch. Cool location near the beach. The clam chowder is exceptional as is the macadamia nut crusted Mahi Mahi! 10/10 would recommend!

Pizza restaurant
Beach Pizza is a relaxed establishment serving New York-style pizzas, pasta, salads, subs & wings. The owner is known for being kind and welcoming to customers and even brings his dogs to the restaurant. The staff are friendly and the food is delicious, with options for ordering by phone, mobile or website. Customers praise the great flavor and quality of the pizzas, which they find better than other chain pizza restaurants. Visitors appreciate the warm hospitality and complimentary treats like cookies for kids.
Beach Pizza is a HUGE hit at our office! We host a happy hour every other week and this these pies are always a favorite. This week we also got their garlic knots but their pepperoni is always my favorite.

What a great place! We picked up family at LAX and wanted to grab a bite somewhere close to the beach. After watching the sunset we found Beach Pizza! Great crew here and the thin crust pizza was phenomenal! We had a large sausage, pepperoni, mushroom, and onion, with pepperoncinis. Great pizza, great atmosphere! So happy to have found this place. Great job, BP!! 🍕

I love their wings, great overall taste and size. A delucious Chicken parmigana came with a tasty salad too. Definitely give them a try! Parking is limited, streets are metered parking.

Staff was great! Really great! However, the only reason I’m not throwing this pizza into the trash is because I’m starving. This may have been an off-day in the kitchen but the crust was tasteless and would be better packaged in a plastic bag labeled WONDER bread. Think Water Crackers or Hardtack. Sauce looked like it was made with tomatoes, but again tasteless. The cheese doesn’t deserve words. Save your money and go to Vons and get Elio’s in a box.

Great pizza shop in Manhattan beach! The dough is always crunchy and not at all oily. The toppings are fresh. The service is friendly, if not always fast. My go to pizza place on the west side of LA.

Our food came out so fast!! Excellent pizza, the crust is so beautifully thin, fresh toppings, yummy sauce. 👍🏽👌🏽it was the best meal after a day of sun and waves.

Gotta be honest with this review, the place is smaller but ok, the service was really good but the pizza was ok I mean it was good but I paid for 6 toppings and they skimped and gave me very little on the pizza and the girl In front just didn’t care about people calling on the phone and let it ring for so long and I was there and it made the experience just so annoying even tho she was nice it is a mediocre place for pizza since the best Italian spots close by open at 5pm so I gave it a shot and definitely will be my last since they overcharged me and gave me an ok pizza considering how much I spent and how much I ordered on it so I highly recommend another spot for pizza just saying
