Seafood restaurant
Clear Springs Restaurant is a vibrant dining spot located in East Texas, known for its seafood, steaks, and famous onion rings. The restaurant is housed in a large brick industrial structure near the railroad tracks, offering a 'country casual' atmosphere with authentic roadside decor. The DeWitt family's involvement adds to its mass appeal, as they have a history of successful business projects in the area. While catfish is their specialty, Clear Springs also serves up a variety of dishes inspired by Louisiana cuisine.
The fried Pickles were so delicious. This picture is after eating at least half. The ranch is obviously homemade and great. I got the Chicken fried pork ribeye which was exceptional. My mom got the Chicken fried steak which she said was delicious. The buttered corn was phenomenal. Overall everything was great, including our server!

We are in town to visit Stephen F Austin University, so we decided to try this restaurant. We ordered the World Famous onion rings and cheese sticks to start. The onion rings were nicely batteres and tasty. The mozzarella sticks were also tasty and had a good cheese stretch. I ordered a house salad to start and it was okay. It comes with lettuce, tomato, bacon, egg, and onion. I asked for the egg and red onions to be left off. I did put a few on the onion rings on the salad. My husband had seafood combo platter, he chose catfish and shrimp, that came with coleslaw, fries, hush puppies, and beans. He said it was okay and some of the shrimp seemed slightly underdone. My daughter had the spicy chicken sandwich and fries. She said the sandwich was tasty, but not spicy and her fries were crispy. I had the chicken fried pork ribeye with mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies. The seasonal veggies were zucchini, squash, and onions. My pork was breaded nicely and very tender. The gravy was good, the normal country white gravy and the mashed potatoes and veggies were also good. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items. I asked several questions and she answered them all.

Food and atmosphere was amazing. Grilled Chicken was soft, juicy, and tender. The fried catfish seasoning is incredible. Everything tastes homemade. Would definitely come again!

This place is really neat, I've learned that it's an old railway building converted into a restaurant. The service and food was great, the staff was super friendly. I got a few pics of the decor and forgot to get a pic of my food, lol but I did snap a pic of my wife's fish plate before she ate very much of it. I got the grilled salmon with the jalapeno glaze and it was excellent!

Ive had better dining experiences in the hospital. I expected a lot more for the money. My daughter had a steak and Gumbo. She said that everything was okay but not great. I had the catfish, the menu said that it would be "The best catfish I've ever had." It was horrible. When they brought my food out, the 3 tiny pieces of fish were obviously burned. Just had that terrible, somebody forgot me in the deep fryer look. The fish tasted how you would have expected at that point. It was dry, tasted burned and so crispy I almost broke a tooth. The Cole slaw was dry, withered and stringy, like it had been sitting out for a few days. The beans were good but not enough to save the meal. Fries were the out of the freezer, fish restaurant standard. Hush puppies were so overcooked they were inedible. It was absolutely horrible. Waiter wasn't very friendly and had very little to say. Not his fault. Guess neither of us were impressed and both ready to leave. Including tip, this nightmare cost me $85. Could have spent the money at a fast food place and been happier about it. This place sucks.
Christopher L — Google review
Service, food and atmosphere was terrific. One HUGE disappointment was the banana pudding. It was absolutely terrific but the cup had 2/3 whipped cream and only 1/3 banana pudding sadly. Just like everything else now, you pay way more and get way less🥲
Tucker T — Google review
The food is on point, our server Brittany was awesome, and the building was really cool. I had the fried catfish, and it was probably the best I have ever had. The batter crispness and the pieces were the perfect size, not too thick or thin. I was really impressed. Everyone needs to dine here.
Antony ( — Google review
Our waiter Izzy was a delight. She greeted us with a warm smile and was very attentive. The food was good, but one of the cooks that could be observed from the dinning room was obviously annoyed and extremely rude with a couple of his co-workers. We have visited Aunties Pasta's for years and this is the first time (hopefully the last) we have ever seen such utter disrespect. I was embarrassed for the the ladies!!!

Bar
Auntie Pasta's Italian Restaurant is a charming eatery located in a historic building, offering a diverse menu of authentic Italian dishes. From build-your-own pasta meals to grilled sirloin peppercorn and seafood fettuccine, there's something for every palate. The restaurant prides itself on serving made-from-scratch daily specials like chicken alfredo, eggplant parmesan, and chicken marsala.
I had the lunch pizza and my husband had the chicken fettuccine. They were both very delicious! The atmosphere is great. Love the music that they have playing for our enjoyment as we are eating. Service was excellent. Gianna R. was a delight as our server. If you haven't never eaten here you really need to try it!!

We ate here for dinner on our last night visiting the area. My husband and I shared a pizza with mushrooms and spinach and my daughter had the lasagna. The pizza was very cheesy and has a light tasting tomato sauce. My daughter, who can be picky, said "this is the best lasagna I've ever had". They gave her a nice size square and she finished it all. When I asked her what made it so good, she replied "everything". A loaf of fresh bread comes with the meal and it was good.
AC G — Google review
Great food and service, one of the best Italian restaurant I’ve been to. Had a fried calamari for appetizer, caramelized chicken lombardi and creme brulee for desert. Also got margarita on the rocks that was so good.

I had lunch here 2 weeks ago while visiting my college child. I asked for recommendations for good places to eat in Nacagodoches in a social media page, and you guys were the top recommendation. My daughter and I had the homemade lasagna and my husband had the chicken Capone it was delicious. This North Texas family will definitely be back, such of a great restaurant.

We were in the area for an appt and decided to try dinner here. We've heard great things and they were certainly true! Food, atmosphere and service were all fantastic! The artichoke appetizer was amazing! We look forward to returning!

This place is a great local gem I'm guessing! The atmosphere had a bit of fancy feeling mixed with the hustle and bustle of a regularly busy restaurant. Tables were spaced well and still felt decently private even though there were a lot and no booths or wall structures to create separation. Minimal table decor but well done. The only thing id change is either adding cloth napkins to class things up or just more napkins than the single disposable one on the silverware. They brought fresh baked bread in a bag with a small dish of seasonings you can pour oil and dip in. Although simple, it was delicious. My husband ordered the lasagna and I had the tilapia. Both were quite excellent. Everything was cooked very well. Sauces had great flavor. And the staff was exceedingly helpful and friendly. Also, the prices were very reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food! The menu had numerous options to choose from and I would definitely come again!

This restaurant has the best lasagna I’ve ever tried before! I ordered the Colizzi's Combo and it was delicious not to mention the service and ambiance (despite the restaurant being extremely busy) were also incredible. If you’re in the area, it’s almost an obligation that you have to stop by and grab a bite here!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🍝

From fresh produce and grass-fed beef to dairy products, honey, and sweets, the market is a treasure trove of artisanal goods. Visitors can also find handmade crafts, beautiful plants, and delicious crops while enjoying live music and interacting with friendly vendors.
Love local Farmers Markets! Such a fantastic variety of goods from hand made woven clothing & accessories to farm fresh honey, butter jams & jellies. So much great items to choose from and the food is crazy yummy. Always a great time shopping local places and the prices are outstanding

Great place to pick up locally made stuff. Honey, pup treats, vegetables, and more. Highly recommend especially for their large events like spring fling. Love other people bringing pups.
Chris — Google review
This is not really a fresh produce kind of place. At least not when I've gone. Admittedly I don't get there as much as I'd like. Lots of handcrafted items...soaps, birdhouses, jewelry. I bought blueberry bushes a month ago. Baked goods and cheeses. Meat stall. Sometimes someone is selling eggs. Someone else has had fresh produce.

Great little farmers market with a wide variety of produce and homemade items including soaps. I loved this. But even if you are not a foodie, you can buy gifts or rare desserts that are actually good for you. Wow!

This market has a good selection of seasonal fresh vegetables and fruit, farm fresh eggs, homemade bread, fresh flowers, humanly raised meats, and artisan made cheeses. Some handmade goods are usually available for variety and usually live music playing. Vendors are friendly and informative. I always find more than I need and covers a major part of my grocery lists. A must visit if you live in the area or are visiting for an extended stay. You won't be disappointed.

I come here on a regular basis. Great place to find local goods, crafts, produce. Sometimes have music. Meet up with friends. Not as many out today due to at Some last night. I have come home with the biggest , greatest produce many times.

People are amazing. I always wish I had a little bit more money because there are so many cool crafted items, beautiful plants, and delicious crops, food, and drinks! It's all local, verified by the farmer's market! So today (May 2022) I went by the farmer's market again -- this time with a little extra money! I left my car at Firestone, a couple of blocks away, and went over to get my annual seedlings from Dover Plant Farm. I got three types of tomatoes, some peppers and some cucumbers. They had more, but that was all I need today. But then I got some Fire Cider and Elderberry syrup from Texadus, and spotted some microgreens. I got some goat cheese to go with the microgreens, grabbed some strawberries from Polve which are just ridiculously delicious. I needed some coffee and had a cup from Wildhurst that was roasted and ground locally THIS MORNING, and forgot to get the microgreens, but maybe I'll see them again next week. Oh, and I got a new fig tree from Polve and some blueberries which have different harvest seasons... That way I don't have to wait all summer to eat the berries! He also had some blackberries but I didn't get any this time... I can't remember the name but it starts with an S.

The food here is beyond good!!! Jalapeno bacon burger, onion rings, chicken fried steak ..BIG portion everything made with love! Arrived around 2 on a Saturday, they stayed busy. We did get a seat right away We will be back again!!!

It was just okay. Nothing special. More oven-cooked, less smoked than Im accustomed to with my BBQ. Tried this place on recommendation. If you are craving for BBQ, I guess it will work, but definitely not world famous. Sausage was not my fav. Brisket over-cooked a bit. Plate portions large. Chopped sandwich not great at all. Pics attached.
Ted F — Google review
It was a solid 4 star all around experience. The Food was good. The service was good and the only things I could pick at would be the sausage was a little dry and I had to whipe off my table before sitting down. I came at lunch time and they were pretty busy so no big deal. Great portion sizes and being able to pick my sides on the brisket and sausage plate was very welcomed. I will be back again.
Jason D — Google review
I have never seen brisket before that looks like pureed baby food. Same consistency as a spoon full of baby food. The flavor was about the same. I had a side of onion rings and they tasted like grease. No seasoning. My dad had a hamburger steak. It was just a cooked hamburger patty with some brown gravy on top. We were very disappointed but that may be why the place was almost empty. I don't think I can finish the sandwich. We won't be going back.
Heather R — Google review
In all seriousness, one of the finest chicken fried steaks and onion rings that I have enjoyed in recent years. I am a huge fan of the type of batter they use on their onion rings. What with its huge crunch and golden brown color so few places do terrific onion rings. I was fortunate enough to find out that they had a smaller portion called the senior special. In addition, I met the current owner manager, Macy, and she was absolutely delightful. Highly recommended.
Jay F — Google review
I rarely leave negative reviews but, as a warning, this is one. Service was good. We ordered to go. I saw that their burgers were voted "best in Nacogdoches" so the purpose of the visit was to get my hubby the best burger. I ordered brisket alone and a chopped brisket sandwich for my Mother. The burger had no flavor!! If you want a truly great burger go to Clear Springs or Macklemore's. It was below mediocre. I've eaten my share of barbecue as a Texan. The brisket looked and tasted like cheap ham steaks from the grocery that curl up when you cook them. A slight smoke flavor otherwise NO flavor. No bark, cut extremely thin, and no flavor!! My Mother, who rarely complains, took 1 bite of her sandwich and refused to eat it. I must say that the barbeque sauce was good. I ordered a piece of coconut pie for the hubby and Mother to share. It ended up in the trash as well. Worse than a frozen pie from the grocery store. All in all the food fell flat and had no flavor. It's our first and last visit. Prices were decent.
Lana G — Google review
My first time eating here and definitely won’t be my last. Food was wonderful.

I was invited to come check out this establishment by Macey. I had a sample of the summer sausage and some homemade smoked sausage. Both were amazing! I also got a bacon cheeseburger. It was very filling. The staff was friendly and very courteous! It's in the heart of Nacogdoches. You won't be disappointed!

Nestled within the historic Fredonia Hotel, 1st City Cafe pays homage to Texas's oldest town with its family-owned charm and commitment to fresh, farm-to-table flavors. The menu features delightful options like crispy fried pickles, savory chicken enchiladas, and comforting shrimp and grits. Guests can also indulge in expertly crafted cocktails from the Nine Flags Bar and Grill nearby.
The cafe is inside The Fredonia hotel a 1950’s construction so you step back in time when you enter. We had the Fredonia hashbowl which is a bowl with fries, onions, bell peppers, ham and bacon with two eggs sitting on top. It was really good. For “dessert” we had the pancakes and they were really good also. Friendly staff and nice place

Excellent place to eat in Nacogdoches with everything fresh. We stop in and eat here at least once every time we visit Nac. Look at the care put into making my Cobb salad, and it tasted just as nice.

We had Crab Cake Benedict and wow. Delicious. Loved that it was served on a lightly fried crab cake & no bread. Sauce was perfect. Would like slightly bigger potato pieces. Also had an espresso martini and the best. Service was very good. Big room was noisy but side room better. We asked & was allowed to move from big room.

First time coming here and although we only come to Nac once or twice a year we will definitely make this place part of our visit when we come. Natalie was the sweetest server she was soo attentive and professional. The chicken fried steak was the best I have ever had in my life and the portions were huge.

Nestled inside the historic Hotel Fredonia, this mid-century restaurant is a gem! We had the best chicken fried steak and shrimp with grits, ever! The sauce for the cheese curds was delish, and the bread pudding topped it off perfectly. Although we didn't stay in the hotel, we plan to make a weekend trip next time.

Charming cafe in the Historic Fredonia Hotel in Nacogdoches, the oldest town in Texas. The cafe and hotel is set in a classic late 1950's decor and vibe. Food is delicious and the service is impeccable. Make sure you ask for the real maple 🍁 syrup for you pancakes or waffles.

I asked what’s a good place to eat and got this recommendation. What s great recommendation!!! It’s inside the hotel, but worth the visit. The fish was fresh, cooked well, tasty with just some lemon added (no tarter sauce needed). The coleslaw was different but good; it was like an interesting mix of vinegar base and mayonnaise—with a little kick—refreshing! The cake was huge; I knew it was a to-go when I saw the size. It was fluffy and flavorful. Lastly the waitress was friendly, attentive, and very responsive. Next time I’m back, I’m looking to try the chicken and waffles.

We loved the openness and updated, funky, mid-century modern look of the restaurant and Hotel Fredonia’s atmosphere. The waitress Kayleh was courteous and helpful as well as diligent keeping our drinks full. My husband ordered the Gruene Chicken Enchiladas while I ordered the Chipotle Salmon. Both meals were very delicious and unassuming. I highly recommend this restaurant. We enjoyed it so much yesterday at lunch that we came back for breakfast. We opted for a poolside table this morning.

The couple embarked on a new adventure at The Republic Steakhouse, a local establishment they had never visited before. Their experience was outstanding! They were greeted by a knowledgeable server named Megan who expertly guided them through the menu. The martinis they enjoyed were top-notch, and one was sufficient to satisfy their taste buds. Before indulging in an 8oz filet and butter shrimp pasta, they savored delectable dishes like lobster bisque and BLT chopped salad.
Excellent dining experience. The service was personal and our server made us feel special. The sea bass was perfect along with the lobster bisque. The best part of the experience was the mid century modern atmosphere with perfect understated music and ambiance. The fresh bread and butter was phenomenal. The only negative pointcan was that the salmon (medium) was over cooked and dry. Otherwise it was a perfect experience. They had a great cocktail selection and make sure you feel like you can relax and linger in the evening with them.

Great food and amazing service. We chose to eat outside the fine dining room, and we're pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and service provided. Food was top notch, dessert was even better. The knowledge of wait staff of wine pairings as well as suggesting appetizers to pair nicely with our meals was outstanding.

First time visit. The location in the hotel is a bit confusing as you walk in the hotel but go out by pool and walk around to the restaurant. We weren't sure we were going the correct way. But it's worth it as you walk in. It's a lovely atmosphere. They have some nice half circle booths & regular tables with very comfortable chairs. We waited a few minutes for a server but not too long. Service was very personable. We had the house salad & shared the wedge. We mentioned we would share the wedge & server offered to split. Didn't mention they would charge $3 to do so. I personally feel charging $3 to split a salad is nickel and diming patrons but oh well. For main course, we had 8oz filet with mushroom sauce, ribeye, stuffed flounder & grilled chicken. They don't have chicken on the menu but one of our guests in on a special diet so they kindly accommodated. We also ordered the brussel sprouts. All the food was delicious. Our server was so nice. If I could recommend one thing, more one on one service to tables. The servers seemed too stretched. Even the back waiters. When you're spending as much on a meal as you are here, one should never have to ask for more water or anything else. I'm not giving our server less than 5 because we feel he did his best.

Arrived at the restaurant at our reservation time. After asking my name (my wife and I are of Mexican descent), we were told our table was not ready and we could wait at the bar or in the waiting area. I counted 6 open tables at the time. While waiting, 4 white couples checked AFTER us, and were all seated immediately. I pointed this obvious fact out to the hostess, and were offered bar table seating in their lounge chairs and low rise table. I refused the bar area seating and asked for a real table that we had a reservation for. We were then seated at one of the open dining tables. The waiter was pleasant, the dinner service was good. The food was phenomenal. I ordered a filet and burgundy mushrooms. During dinner a number of couples left and more white patrons seated. Upon leaving, i noticed two open tables, and a black couple waiting in the waiting area to be seated. Needless to say, what is obvious, is obvious.. will never return to this restaurant or hotel again…

Brought my party of 4 here for first time, and was excited to try it after hearing good words from those we know. Interior decor and the entry by the hotel pool was well done. Our food and drinks were excellent. The weak link was our waitperson Megan. Flippant, pushy, not funny, and blamed the wait time of over an hour for our food to arrive on another large group that was taxing the kitchen, and said we should have ordered apps and salads to make the time go by. Seriously ?? I will return, but will not accept her as a server.

We were looking forward to dining at Republic after arriving in Nacogdoches to visit family. We ordered wine, cocktails, entrees & sides. After our drinks were delivered, it took over an hour to get our entree. Our waitress told us a large group was delaying our food. When she finally delivered our food, she said it was delayed because we didn’t order an appetizer or soup & salad. I’m sorry! I cannot eat that much food and it should not delay my entree. Our experience was definitely tainted by the poor service and disregard for our table of 4.

As we planned our trip to Nacogdoches and The Fredonia Hotel, I made a reservation at the Republic Steakhouse over the phone. Two days before our arrival I received an email reminder of the restaurant reservation. The day before our arrival another reminder email showed up. (Both emails listed the dress code, the dos & don'ts, and the fees that would be charged if we failed to show-up, or if we cancelled less than 24 hours before the reservation)!! After our long drive we arrived and checked-in to the hotel. Taking a quick nap, I had just fallen asleep in our room, and my phone rang. It was the Republic Steakhouse wanting to know if we were going to be there at the designated time! UNBELIEVEABLE! I gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed they must be very busy on this Saturday night. We arrived at the exact time (didn't want to incur a charge for being late) and were seated promptly. The restaurant is decorated nicely and has great music playing in the background. The waiter was knowledgeable and polite, but not very attentive. The wine was good, along with the salad and the French-onion soup, but the bread never made it to our table. Had to ask another server for it. My wife's filet was very good, along with the sides, but my ribeye left a lot to be desired. There is proper marbling in steaks, and then there is just a lot of fat. Mine was the later! Could only eat about half. By now our waiter had all but disappeared. We finally flagged down another server to get our check. Remember my earlier comment that the restaurant must have been booked solid to keep reminding me of our reservation? Well...there were two booths and one table that sat empty during the entire time we were there! We love the hotel, but won't return to the Republic. Not a great value for a $200 meal!

I'll mention some other things that are not steak, but I'm giving this place five stars for the steak itself and top notch service. Have I had better steaks for less? Yes I have. But still... First out was high quality sourdough bread served with room temperature real butter, thank God! The bread reminded me of the amazing sourdough bread that is sold at the real time bread store in Lufkin. Top notch! I got the lobster bisque. The bisque was very thick and had pretty good flavor with a fair amount of what tasted like grilled chunks of lobster meat. It was the cup and costed $13. It was a small but filling portion. The wife got French onion soup that had about a 1/4 of an inch thick cheese and tomato cap. No worries, it came with a small pair of scissors to cut through it. The flavor was good to very good but had a lot of bread stuffed inside. Maybe that's how the French do it? 🤷‍♂️ Served with our steak was a family-sized/style Caesar salad with Fredonia's awesome cornbread croutons. Salad was pretty good and fresh. We shared the 16oz. ribeye which, due to the fat content, was MORE than enough. I ordered medium rare and believe it or not, that's how it was served. That is the most important part of all this. The fat was extremely flavorful and rendered perfectly as we ate. The meat flavor was high quality, just not quite as high as, say, a Hassell Cattle Company steak. Was it worth $60? I dunno. Either way, zero complaints about the steak itself. Service was on point and you even get to choose your own Laguiole steak knife!

Mexican restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Nacogdoches, El Ranchero Restaurant is a delightful Mexican eatery that captures the essence of traditional cuisine with a modern twist. Known for its laid-back vibe, this family-owned gem specializes in homemade moles and an array of tantalizing dishes like lamb barbacoa tacos and charred eggplant tostadas. The restaurant has earned accolades for its exceptional salsa, which has been celebrated as the best in town for nearly a decade.
Delicious Mexican food. Definitely a must try! Street tacos were spectacular and the special salsa is terrific. Appetizers were a good way of sampling the quality of their food, which is very high. Definitely eating again next time I'm in the area!

We are visiting the area to tour Stephen F Austin University. We decided to try this place. It was very busy and a little loud. The food was okay. It came out very quick, so I question the freshness of the food. My daughter has the enchilada verdes and said they were okay. She said she preferred my enchiladas. My husband had a chimichanga, which was small compared to other restaurants we've been to. He said it was good, but wished it was bigger. I had the fajitas, which came with garlic butter. The meat was tender, but lacked seasoning. The garlic butter definitely enhanced the flavor of the meat. The chips were nice and crispy and the salsa was good. We also enjoyed the queso with taco meat.

I called ahead for a price on a kids meal, I was told $5.95. I went to pick up my order which I had added a small drink and it was $15.93. I did question them about it and they said oh sometimes if it’s an adult, we charge a extra 1.00 or 2:00I understand that but 5.95 + 2.00 is not $15 plus. What I got was nothing more than a kids meal even adult meals are not $15 with a drink at lunch.

Been here several times, each time is always perfect. Clean restaurant, friendly staff, and fun decorating. Food is always good! My new favorite place for Birria Tacos. Prices are a little high, but it's worth it in the end!

I've been coming here my whole life, it has been our staple Mexican food spot for our family. The staff is always friendly, the space is beautiful and well kept. We always have such sweet servers and salsa ladies. Salsa is always fresh with delicious chips. So many things are amazing it's hard to pick. The cheese puff has been a staple from childhood to adulthood. :)

I waited about 3 minutes for my order to come out. The food was served on a piping hot plate so that was the first red flag - microwaved. Second red flag is, guacamole paste? Not even real avocados? I only stopped in because the reviews say "Best in Nac" - if this is the best, would hate to see the worst 😟 Sweet tea was great. Server was friendly. It is clean inside. Management did not charge me for my food.

Visiting from out of town and found this place. Food was amazing and very reasonably priced. Service was standard, not excellent but certainly not bad. Serving sizes were good, guaranteed to fill you up. I had the stacked nachos. Sooooo good and way more than you can possibly eat at 1 time. I ate until i was full and still had to sort the leftovers into 2 to-go containers because it wouldnt fit in 1. My only complaint is the Chips and Salsa. The Chips were prolly the best ive had at a restaurant but the salsa was ughhhhh. First, they serve it hot, salsa is not suppose to be hot in my opinion. Second, it didnt taste good, tasted like tomato soup. I was very dissappointed!!! Thats the only thing that was bad though. The rest of the food was excellent, cheap and lots of it!!! Would definetly recommend you give them a try, you will not be disappointed i promise!!!

This place is a hidden gem. It has it's own character and the staff were super friendly. We ordered Guacamole and the lady came from the kitchen and made it from scratch right in front of us!!! The food was freaking delicious. Prices were ridiculously cheap. I'm definitely going back to eat there.

Restaurant
Dolli's Diner is a charming little eatery located in the historic downtown area of Nacogdoches. It's a popular spot for locals and visitors alike, offering a variety of American traditional dishes for breakfast and brunch. The diner has garnered praise for its friendly service and delicious food, with options like chocolate chip waffles, sausage gravy with biscuits, migas, huevos rancheros, and a phenomenal meatloaf sandwich.
We looked for a simple meal whilst visiting. This place is a living history. Polished checkered floors, displays from a local artist, music playing, regulars coming in for their usuals. Prices frozen in time with large portions. Sweet tea is the perfect amount of sweet on a hot day. The server was lovely and cheerful. They have a good thing going here.

Found Dolli’s Diner in downtown Nacogdoches, TX today, it’s the oldest town in Texas. I had the Rueben and fries and my dad had the special. The special today was homemade chicken salad on a croissant, fries and a drink. All of this for $8.00! My dad said it was delicious. My Reuben was very good as well. There seemed to be quite a few locals there and the ladies in the cute shops and antique stores recommended Dolli’s. They have a wide variety from breakfast to Cuban sandwiches to chicken fried chicken with delicious sides. The service could have been a little better but the food and atmosphere made up for that small blip. I would highly recommend and downtown is so cute with great shops!

We were there and saw a priest, a farmer and a cowboy dining at other tables. The food was excellent. I had the pecan pancakes which were amazing. My husband had the French dip sandwich with tater tots. The atmosphere was relaxing and fun.

Quaint little dinner in downtown Nacogdoches. We had breakfast there on a Saturday morning. It was busy but the service was quick and friendly. The food was delicious. We had a California omelet and a veggie omelet with biscuits, toast, and a side of bacon. The homefries that come with the omelet are exceptionally good!

Love this diner! We had breakfast about 9:30 on a Thursday morning.dining are is small to medium but tables are spaced appropriately. Our waitress was attentive with a full room of customers. Order came out hot and fresh! The menu definitely calls me back for a later date maybe lunch or dinner.

We decided to try Dolly‘s diner because of the great reviews. We knew we hit the jackpot when we walked in. It’s just adorable, reminding one of an old-fashioned diner, and it was obviously popular due to the amount of people. The food is delicious and it offers a great menu to include breakfast anytime. My family loved it and we will return anytime we’re in Nacogdoches.

We went for Saturday brunch and found it to be a cute little diner. The food was pretty good, the coffee is strong. I really like their potatoes! None of the food was greasy, which I loved! The service was very good and the place seemed to run very smoothly. Lots of people in and out, it's pretty lively. The prices were reasonable, very family friendly. It made me think of a diner from the old days. I would definitely visit again!

For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with Splash Kingdom Timber Falls, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Gayla Mize Garden. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Water park
Water & Amusement Parks
Splash Kingdom Timber Falls is a small yet enjoyable water park that's perfect for a family visit. The park offers numerous rides, with the roller coaster being the main highlight. As you approach the park, you'll notice a lush green ecosystem in the parking lot, adding to the natural ambiance. While there may be some maintenance issues like slippery areas and restroom concerns, attentive lifeguards ensure safety in the water attractions.
We’ve been to Splash Kingdom a few times this summer and have loved each trip! The lifeguards are amazing, the staff is super friendly and my kids keep asking to go back. I love how everything is so close together. Thank you for making our trips enjoyable! We drive from Livingston, so it’s about an hour out but it’s definitely worth the trip! This past weekend I even took my little cousin with us! He had fun as well!
Kristin D — Google review
Cost was good, meal voucher not so much in my opinion. It’s super limited. BUT they have a multitude of lifeguards in every section & they aren’t just sitting. My kid LOVED their slides & kid area. Cabanas 100% worth the money.
Lorelee B — Google review
The food was definitely nasty. I would think that with the entry prices, you’d be able to have better options over Dino nugget type quality. The park itself was fun for the kids. There was zero mold/ slippery areas. I almost didn’t come based off of other reviews complaining about algae. I think that some of the other reviews are kind of petty. I got there early, but we live in the country. The kids will step on grass to avoid the hot ground, and bring it into the pool towards the end of the day. At the beginning the pools were definitely clean. The staff did a good job of watching over everyone. Overall there aren’t a lot of kid friendly places. Besides the food it was worth Groupon prices. I would have been more upset if I paid full entry.
Inspire O — Google review
We visited splash kingdom as a group of 9 adults & 8 kids! The park is smaller than we expected but it worked out perfectly for us. We felt safe allowing the older kids to play while we monitored the younger ones in the kiddie section. The lounge chairs are feet from the kiddie section so you can watch them from your seat! The staff was super nice. The lifeguards seemed moody. There is a lot of shade within the park as well as picnic tables but we brought our lunch to eat outside of the park & they only had 2 sad picnic tables available outside. My only reason for 4 stars. We will definitely be coming back because our children had so much fun & the adults did too!

I love this place! Super fun place to hang out for the summer. I came with a few of my friends one day. Employees were very genuine: Kanaysha, who took my order, was super friendly and patient while I made up my mind. She had a great attitude, which made the whole process easy and fun. While getting mini melts, Avery was awesome! She was quick, efficient, and even made a fun recommendation of Banana split. (It was really yummy by the way!) Both Kanaysha and Avery really brightened my day with their excellent service and bubbly personalities.
Madelyn P — Google review
Their set up to purchase tickets and entering the park isn't ideal ... they need to contact chick-fil-a to learn how to run an efficient line! Haha but the place is nice and they kids had a blast!! Although I'll say there isn't much for the bigger kids to do ... still fun tho
Pam B — Google review
It’s an ok place. Wish it was bigger and offered more. The unlimited drinks bands aren’t worth it in my opinion. The soda is nasty. I have tried it on two different occasions. I would stick to water. Good for kids but not super fun for adults or teens. I also wish there was a changing area separate from the bathroom and I wish they had showers.
Kelsey G — Google review
This place is irritating, disgusting, and unsafe. Let me start by saying I purchased season passes for my family of four when it first opened for the summer, so I have been here four or five times before writing this review. - When you first walk in, the security will check your bag for food and drinks. Their so-called policy online is very vague; you're only allowed to bring in one unopened water per person and a toddler-sized snack for kids under 5. BUT the person checking the bag gets to determine the size. For example, my 5-year-old was only allowed to have one cheese stick, not two sticks. I know my 5-year-old isn't the only kid who eats more than one cheese stick. - Next are the bathrooms; the women's bathroom is so disgusting, no matter what time of day it is. The smell can be compared to an overused porta-potty; it's enough to discourage you from using the bathroom stalls. Sadly, it's the only private place to change clothes. - Lastly, the lifeguards move around but don't react to any of the kids who are hurt or drowning. Mostly focus on other little things, such as telling people not to sit on the side of the toddler activity area. I watched two kids coughing up water, not even a "are you okay" from the lifeguard. A 1-year-old moved just in time before the giant bucket of water tipped over her head—zero situational awareness from the lifeguard. Three kids slipped on the concrete near the 2-4-year-old Nemo slide. I witnessed two kids rubbing their butts or sides on the ground as they came down the slides in the front of the kids' activity area. Another kid got kicked in the back of the head because the kid behind him, on the back long slide, didn't want to wait for him to finish sliding down and move out of the way. There were also two young kids in the kids' activity area without any adults with them. If I had to guess their ages, maybe 4 and 5 years old. More than likely siblings. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place.

Needed a stop between Houston and Hot Sorings to go to the national park and needed somewhere dog friendly. The patio is GREAT! Beer selection is GREAT! Food options are GREAT! Tons of outdoor seating with water misters and shade. So happy this was recommended to us on bringfido.

I had the apple cider, which was very tasty. I tried the peach cider. It was very good, also. BF had "The lightest beer we have.". He liked it. The best part was the people! The locals are so friendly and genuine. I would have loved to be able to come back every night.

The brewery is one of my favorite places to hangout in Nac. It is a very fun & low-key spot! The have amazing beer, a different food truck every week and fantastic bands! The owners are so cool and really care about the town. They keep adding delicious seasonal brews, which is so fun along with limited edition pint glasses! (See Xmas below) I absolutely recommend anyone coming into town for the day, on Saturday of course, or the weekend to stop in- see Jack and the crew. It's walking distance, approx 2 min. walk, from The Fredonia Hotel if you're staying there! Family friendly, special root beer and games, pet friendly and right around the corner from Main St that has food, shopping, etc. They also do special events there on occasion- SFA Homecoming, Blueberry Fest, Fourth of July, Christmas, etc! 🍻 They have a pizza kitchen now and did a huge bar expansion! Lots of seating inside the taproom for these hot summer months. Follow them on social media for updates and more!!

An absolute gem in Nacogdoches! This was our first time at Fredonia Brewery, and it won’t be our last! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed — not just by the amazing staff, but by the locals too. Everyone was super friendly, helpful, and just fun to be around. There's a real sense of community here that makes the whole place feel special. I had the Coffee Stout Nitro, and it was outstanding — smooth, rich, and packed with flavor, without being too heavy. Easily one of the best stouts I've had in a long time. My wife went with their lightest beer (something like an ultra-light), and she loved it! Crisp, clean, and incredibly refreshing — perfect for relaxing on a warm Texas day. The staff is what really puts this place over the top. You can tell they love being there — super friendly, full of personality, and more than happy to walk you through the beer list or just chat for a bit. They made us feel like regulars on our very first visit. The outdoor space was great — spacious, laid-back, and perfect for hanging out. They had bands, food trucks, and Playing Bingo. We didn't have time for that this round but, we’ll definitely plan to come back for that. Whether you're a craft beer lover or just looking for a chill place to hang out in Nacogdoches, Fredonia Brewery is a must-visit. Great beer, great people, great vibes. Highly recommend! Thanks Chuck & Laura from Cleburne, TX.

This brewery has a decent selection of beers to try. They also carry wine and mead if beer isn't your thing. They do flights of four, if you want to sample several. The ones I tried were good. The guy who served me was very friendly. Overall, it was a great place to check out.

Chicken restaurant
Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, a fast-food establishment inspired by the flavors of Louisiana, has gained popularity for its zesty deep-fried poultry, flaky baked goods, and accompanying dishes. This chain is renowned for its fiery fried chicken, which packs a punch with its spiciness. Alongside this delectable main course are mouthwatering biscuits that are light and tender. Popeyes also offers an array of flavorful sides to complement their signature dishes.
They got my order wrong the first time and did not put my drink on there so I wound up paying almost $4 for a small drink. Then when I got all the way to the table with my food the whole order was wrong it was not what I ordered had to go back up there and wait in line again. They brought me my correct order I went back to the table and sit down only to realize that they had not put another biscuit back in the box. So I had to walk back to the front again just to get a biscuit. The good news is I think I got all my exercise for the day 😂

Food was cold. We customized order to get the pieces of chicken we like...was not what we got. Was told at window they couldn't do this, even though it's on the website. Went there last week to pick up order and they were closed at 4:30 in the afternoon. Had to request refund and they didn't get back to me for 3 days.

One star because i'm Hella salty. Just wanted to remind everyone that if you are traveling from out of town, make sure you ask for silverware and napkins or this will be you, with no utensils. Just eating with a lid and your fingers 🤣

They don’t close till 10pm so why all the doors locked, drive thru and parking lot dark, no sign of any chicken to be eaten at 8:00pm???!!?? This has happened to me 3times now! Workers inside not even paying attention that anybody is trying to order at drive thru or even when I beat on both doors. They must have been in another zone😡 Please hire new managers for Nacogdoches Popeyes!!!
Lyndsey M — Google review
Went through the drive thru for chicken tenders, was told to pull to the side. I sat there 30 MINUTES, I walked in with my receipt and the manager said "I guess they forgot about you" ya think?? No apology or any kind of urgency. The rice was still crunchy in the rice and beans, awful food and service.
Charles T — Google review
Terrible service! Employees are rude and disrespectful. Went to pick up a door dash order Employees refused to give me the order which was already paid for. Employees started yelling and said your on my time and have to do as I say. As well as to goas far as to tell me to go back around so she could take my order which was a door dash pick up. Which later told me I don't feel good so I won't make you feel good. Then took for ever bring out my customers order out. Which the app claimed it was ready when I arrived. Not sure what they do all day long when they work but they certainly don't have any manners nor do they care about the customers. The managers seem to not care what so ever as well or are not even present. Don't know how they are still in business with such bad mannered employees and such horrible people working there. I do not recommend to even go to this store. They will take for ever just to get you your order and I guarantee they won't even have all the things you want or make them.
Sergio G — Google review
The service and food was very subpar. They did not have the sauce I wanted or any pies and they had just opened up thirty minutes earlier. Why are you already unable to provide items shortly after opening? To wash the the terrible taste of the tenders I went to take a sip of my lemonade and it was something black floating in my drink. It was such a waste of time and money not coming back!

Worst experience I ever had at a Popeyes. Sat at the drive thru for almost 10 minutes. Chicken was very old, Cole slaw cup was only a quarter of the way full. And strawberry cream pies were not good. Don't ever go to this restaurant. It's like I wad an inconvenience to the employees that worked there. If I could give them less than a one I would. Did know to add a photo ot I would have. Would give my dog that Chicken and immediately through w away.

Bonnie was a great server: friendly and efficient. The food was good and there was plenty of it. I gave a bad review on yelp once concerning this restaurant and one of their servers. This was a completely opposite experience from that one. Thank you Bonnie for make this visit very pleasant.

This was my first time ordering from this restaurant, and I honestly didn’t know what to expect. I ordered the beef fajita nachos, but what I received was beyond disappointing. They came in a pizza box with only 9 chips—that’s all the nachos consisted of! The portion size and presentation were a joke. I will never eat here again. Extremely disappointed.

Had a great experience at Jalapeño Tree! Our server, Noah, was super friendly and welcoming right from the moment we walked in. He made sure everything ran smoothly and checked in with a smile definitely added to the overall vibe of the place. I ordered the John Wayne, and WOW it was absolutely amazing! Packed with flavor, perfectly cooked, and just the right amount of spice. Highly recommend it if you want something hearty and delicious. Shoutout to Noah for the great hospitality. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Nature & Parks
Pecan Acres Park is a 23-acre well-maintained city park in Nacogdoches, offering a beautiful and peaceful environment for visitors of all ages. The park features large pecan trees scattered throughout, providing ample shade and a picturesque setting. It offers various amenities including a children's play area, pavilion, restrooms, picnic tables, frisbee golf, and entry bike trails.
We met here to hang out. I'm from Longview. My daughter is always talking about Pecan Park, and now, I know why! It's great! The only drawback was that the water fountains weren't on. Luckily, we had water in the car.
Kimberly L — Google review
I really enjoyed this course. It was challenging but fair with some elevation changes and a variety of shots. It was a little soggy and boggy in some areas.
Chris G — Google review
It was a little hard to give this four stars. Only because I'm a bit sour about the parking. I had to wait around for a parking place and when my daughter and I finally walked to the park there was only 3 other kids there... and the parking lot was FULL. It hit me that SFA students park there for free to walk to their classes. But, certainly not fair to families who actually want to go out and make memories. As for the ACTUAL park. It was very clean, no liter, and a lot of the play area is shaded. They also have really nice double swings so parents can swing with their little ones. It was a fun experience all in all.
Christina S — Google review
Love the Frisbee golf course here. Plenty of shade and varying degrees of difficulty of holes
Tony D — Google review
Nice big park! Great place for frisbee golf and walking your dogs. Also has a pretty big playground for little kids. We were there in the winter so there were no leaves on the pecan trees but it was still nice 👍
Matt A — Google review
The playground looks like a lot of fun. I almost wish I could be little again. The restrooms looked closed with only one available portable toilet for the public. We came here for a walk so we did not stay long. This is a great spot to get on the trails. We found the trails to be well marked and diverse. One way took us on a wooded path the other way took us across the street to the SFA campus gardens with art work.
Sandy W — Google review
This has always been one of my favorite parks in this city. It's big, it has a nice playground, and lots of open fields. My favorite thing though, is it's history. The park was formerly a pecan orchard, and most of the trees have been left. They not only provide shade all day, but during pecan harvesting season the ground is littered with fresh, ripe pecans that fall off the trees.
Christian N — Google review
Love to walk here. Great for everyone if any age. Family outings, picnic, bring my pets. Play all kind of games. Always kept up. Can't imagine how they do it. Close to the college. Plenty of places to rest. Playground equipment is really nice for the kids.

Museums
The Stone Fort Museum in Nacogdoches is a 1936 replica of an 18th-century home that has served various purposes over the years, including as a garrison, saloon, and trading post. The museum offers insights into the Texas Revolution and features interactive exhibits on its second floor. Visitors can also explore nearby attractions such as Oak Grove Cemetery, Caddo Mounds, Millards Crossing Historic Village, and learn about the history of the building itself.
Is a great part of Texas history. Good self lead interactive activities with little lead. Worth a quick stop.
James R — Google review
A small 6 room museum, about the size of 2 pioneer houses one on top of the other. The entire 2nd floor is interactive exhibits, but they're NOT just for kids. Personally I found the fist room about Caddo Indians and the second room about the history of the building itself to be the most interesting parts. They have a bathroom in the last room on the 1st floor if you need it.
Catsur N — Google review
Interesting but don't expect the interaction activities for children they talk about. There isn't much of that but a donation recommended museum and was appreciated.

I might be a little biased (Axe’em Jacks!) but my experience was awesome! It was full of interesting history about Nacogdoches, exhibits to interact with, and it was air conditioned. I couldn’t ask for a better experience. The student workers were also extremely helpful and pointed out several different things that I would have otherwise missed. I highly recommend checking it out if you love history!

Stephen F. Austin State University

Public university
College
Stephen F. Austin State University, located in Nacogdoches, the oldest town in Texas, is a beloved institution with a beautiful campus to explore. The university boasts a unique blend of old buildings and offers various activities for students. It is considered the beating heart of Nacogdoches and plays an influential role in the community's development. As an alum, I have fond memories of my time there as a biology major and appreciate the connections I made.
Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) offers a picturesque campus surrounded by pine trees and a welcoming community. Students value supportive professors, smaller class sizes, and standout programs in nursing, forestry, and education. The vibrant campus life includes clubs, traditions, and a recreation center with a lazy river, fostering connection and relaxation. While the town of Nacogdoches is charming, it may feel quiet for those seeking city excitement. Some students have raised concerns about certain departments, like math. Overall, SFA provides a strong sense of community, beautiful surroundings, and opportunities for academic and personal growth. It’s a place to thrive.

Garden
Nature & Parks
Discover the vibrant beauty of the Ruby M. Mize Azalea Garden, an expansive 8-acre botanical paradise located on the eastern edge of Stephen F. Austin University's campus in Texas. The garden boasts a delightful 1.25-mile walking trail surrounded by loblolly pines and featuring 50 benches, numerous planting beds, and a diverse array of floral species including azaleas, camellias, Japanese maples, and more.
Some of the plants were in full bloom, some were in the process of blooming, and some weren't in season yet. There are many paths which meet and diverge at multiple points. It only took me 1.5 hr to leisurely walk around the whole thing. That's not a bad thing, but you could always circle around to take each path to make it a longer walk. Or visit multiple times. A lot here to enjoy.
Catsur N — Google review
Nice trails and beutifull landscaping. Great for a Sunday Stroll.
James R — Google review
Lovely stroll in beautifully maintained gardens! Many markers to read and learn about the varieties of azaleas and other plants, and out of this world beautiful in the spring (in March). Could easily spend an hour meandering on this highly shaded walk. Can be easily walked with little effort. Some areas are wheelchair accessible, but not all. No bathrooms near park, so plan ahead. Plenty of benches to sit down and enjoy the scenery. Also connects to the shade garden at SFA as you cross the river on the bridge.
Amanda R — Google review
Compact, lush garden with meandering walking paths and sitting benches scattered throughout. While not big, there's plenty to see if you're willing to be interested in plants & greenery. In spite of being bordered by University Drive, little of the traffic noise permeates very far into the garden. The overall impression is of quiet solitude. On a weekday morning there were just a few other folks strolling the paths. It makes for a quiet retreat in the midst of the city.
Gregory M — Google review
We LOVED this garden with trails! What a treasure…we will be back! It is a well kept botanical garden with many seating areas for reading, relaxing, visiting, or picnicking. We loved the variety of plants that they grew.
Elizabeth W — Google review
My wife and I and our 2-month old came up to the area for the weekend to enjoy ourselves in nature away from the hustle and bustle of big city life. The Azalea Garden was the first green space we visited on our trip and it did not disappoint. The azaleas were obviously not in bloom in late July, but the winding paved paths through the garden (perfect for a stroller!) gave us our first concentrated dose of Piney Woods, Texas. We even discovered a new tree that blew us away. We'll let you figure out what it is. Here's a hint: It's a special type of bald cypress.
Henry D — Google review
Such a beautiful piece of land. We love to go for a small walk/ jog. It is being completely surrounded by nature while being in the middle of town. An absolute beautiful place to spend a healthy, dollar-free afternoon. Also, a really safe and great way to work-out toddler energy. We also had our Christmas photos here right when the trees changed.
Ashley S — Google review
I came from Houston to visit this place by searching on Google Maps. We entered by an one-way entrance which we had missed twice (that means we had made two rounds). The third time, thanks to a very kind man from the SFA Ground and Transportation in the nearby that we could find the way to get in there. Once we were inside, we saw some other parking lots on the other sides of the park, that meant there were other entrances, larger and easier to drive. If only Google Maps would have shown we the other way! This place is very nice, peaceful and plenty of beautiful flowers, but I am sure that many visitors from other places would miss out because it is too hard to find a way to access. That would be a shame since it is one of the most beautiful sites of Nacogdoches to visit.

The bakery offers an array of delectable treats such as buttercream and fondant cakes, cupcakes in 16 flavors, decorated cookies, macarons, chocolates, breads, and croissants. Customers have praised the bakery for its exceptional service and delicious cakes.
Wanted to give a HUGE shout out to Blue Horse Bakery in Nacogdoches. They made the cake for my son's baptism and it was by far the best cake I have ever had. Plus, it looked so beautiful we were wary of even cutting into it!! As if it couldn't get any better, the owner herself delivered it to our door and we had a lovely chat with her. That's the kind of hospitality and exceptional service you get when you choose our hometown small businesses. Thank you so much Blue Horse Bakery!! We are getting our cakes exclusively from them starting now ❤

Had the chocolate cupcake with vanilla buttercream. The buttercream frosting was great. The chocolate was bland, it barely tasted like chocolate. The stuffed chocolate chip cookie was good though. After explaining to the barista that I was not satisfied with the chocolate cake, they exclaimed: "oh, sorry you didn't like it". There was No offer for a replacement. So Two stars for service, three for quality.
Ethan H — Google review
Pleasant atmosphere, tasty food - but kinda too pricey, especially for small bottled drinks and normal sized baked goods. Ask prices before you agree to buy something - a single cupcake is $2.75, a cookie $1.75 - same size as you can get at a grocer's bakery, but Blue Horse is well more than twice the price. Plus one star for being a local owned cafe, and that cookie was delicious.

I live outta town and I wanted to send a cake to my sister and her family. Blue Horse Bakery made them a delicious cake and delivered it to my sister's house too! I found the price to be good, the customer service to be great, and, from what I heard, their cake is delicious. All around Blue Horse Bakery I am very happy choosing them to send my sister and her family a cake from outta the blue. If I ever need another cake made, or if YOU do, then I'll ORDER from them again.

2/26/22 Stopped by today while visiting Nac in hopes of getting ready made gluten-free cupcakes. Wasn't able to do that because they have a sign on door stating they no longer cater to walk-in business, only call ahead orders. Not complaining, just making others aware who may plan on driving here for a spontaneous purchase.

Delicious doesn’t even begin to describe how great the cupcakes are at Blue Horse Bakery! The owner, Whitney, welcomed us from the time we entered the door, and took superb care of us until we left. I could eat cupcake after cupcake. She even let my kiddos choose their preferred sprinkles — which made their day! You are crazy if you are in Nacogdoches and do not stop in. Yum yum yum! 😋

Their cake tasted as great as it looks, and it looked incredibly cute!! I live out of town and was having a birthday party in the area where they are located and we did everything via telephone or email. Food: a great alternative to Taco Bell Service: Service is normally good although today the lady working cash register try to give me change for a 10 dollar bill although I had given her a 20 dollar bill. SO BE SURE TO COUNT YOUR CHANGE. Atmosphere: I will say average.

I didn't actually order here. A friend of mine did, though, and the short version: She went inside, placed an order, received it, and drove home. Got inside and found up over 1/2 the thongs she ordered were incorrectly done. So I took her back there. She explained the situation, and the counter worker and manager made a new order for her. So the situation was resolved, the new food was fine, but we are talking over an hour of total time, inconvenience, and frustration (and minor food wastage) that reasonably shouldn't have happened to begin with, really, as they were not super-busy otherwise. My friend really likes this Taco Casa location, though, so it's not a blacklist-type deal. Just check your order before you leave if it is to go or drive-thru.

The ordering process is quick and efficient, ensuring customer satisfaction. Conveniently located near SFA campus, they even offer drive-through services. Ordered the chilada/taco platter with a chicken Enchilada instead of beef. As always the salsa bar did not disappoint. I'm a fan of the red salsa. Daughter got 2 party nachos. These are off menu, but they still offer them. She loads up on the pico, jalapeños, and fire roasted salsa to dress up the nachos. Good eats for cheap.

If you want your order correct, you absolutely HAVE to go during the day, during lunch hours!!! Because if you wait & go during the evening or night hours, once the (sweet) main Manager is already gone, they will absolutely mess up your whole entire order, unfortunately. Because the food itself is delicious, it's fast, always hot, & affordable. But the night crew will always screw up the food.

Guy heard the wrong item through their temu headsets apparently. I wanted a cheese quesadilla. Was handed some fried cheesecake thing? I said no this is wrong before even leaving the drive through. Recently, I attended a small family gathering at Flashback Cafe. The customer service was excellent, and the beverages were delightful. However, the cuisine was average in quality. While the primary purpose of our visit wasn't solely to dine, it played a significant part in our experience. This venue proved to be an enjoyable destination for young adults as it is conveniently located near a college campus. College students and those seeking a good time should definitely consider visiting this establishment as it promises a fun-filled outing.
Went there yesterday and came out fat full. Had the Bar B Que Brisket and Mac and cheese pizza. Really good even though it could have had more brisket and just a tad more Mac on it. But really tasty. Had a Southerner sandwich that was damn good. Brisket, pull pork and pimento cheese on a soft bun. Excellent! But those damn pig wings... Deep Fried baby back ribs tossed in your favorite wing sauce. I had the honey bar b que and they were fabulous!!! Meaty, tender, and the sauce was thick and evenly coated. Damn good. Atmosphere was cool. Job well done.

Good little spot to grab a bite and have a drink. The menu is typical bar food and was served quickly by very friendly staff. We were there in the evening during the week, so it was relatively quiet. Service was quick and the meal was enjoyable. I had the boneless wings, which I was pleased to see had plenty of sauces to choose from.

Spent 10.83$ for 12 really good wings w/ fries and a water. I had the bone in wings (large) (lemon pepper and sweet chili) The wings were good size and tasty. The sweet chili was a little warm and I really liked it. Lemon pepper wings they give enough seasoning and it’s really good. Fries look hand cut a little soggy but were great. Service was good @ 1pm on a Friday

I’ve been coming in here since the very early part of the century, and it’s always felt like home. Cold beer just tastes better in this bar. Do yourself a favor: if you’re in Nac, head on over to Flash and get’cha some Pig Wings and an ice cold beer (or three).

Cool place to come, either with friends or by yourself. Plenty of beer on tap. Wide selection of others beer/drinks. The food is decent for being a bar. Tons of TV screens for sporting events. Pool tables, darts, and ping pong inside. Washers, and bags outside. Lots of seating. Small and large seating for however big the group. My only complaint is the bathrooms, I know it’s a bar, but it’d be nice if the bathrooms were a little nicer!

Went by with a few work associates and had a pretty good time. They kept a table for us while we waited and brought drinks quickly. They have specials at different times so it is worth looking up if you plan on being around. For a bar, the food was great. We had fried pickles and a pizza that I would suggest over any chain pizza in town. Of course, after a couple of pitchers everything tastes a little better. We had fun and will go back again.

I had an interesting visit. The first time I went to a Posados, it was in Lufkin and it was terrible. This one is way different. The staff initially put us right next the the kitchen, but moved us when we explained we didn't want to be around the noise. At first they acted a bit confused that someone would complain about being seated next to the kitchen when the restaurant was nearly empty. This is the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. After that, it was golden. The food was terrific, and the service was amazing. My waitress, Jessica, was by far the best waitress/waiter I've ever had anywhere. Prompt, friendly and able to answer any question you threw at her. This made the experience worthwhile. I will definitely go back.

Update: They seem to be under new management, as others have noted in their reviews, and now they've become very stingy. They don't send coupons as often, and they never have any good specials, and when you do order something with a coupon or some special, they're very rude about it. I used to come here because the food was cheap enough that I could afford to buy a drink or two, but it's no longer worth the price. I probably won't be returning anytime soon. Original review (5/5): The food is pretty good but the pricing is what keeps me coming back. They often send coupons in the mail, and they run really good specials Mon-Thurs

Awesome, attentive service. Checked up on us to make sure everything was good. Made helpful menu suggestions that were delicious. Huge bonus: held the door for us as we left the restaurant. Never gotten service as good as this. Shoutout to our server Dakota for this great experience!

Cindy and I have always thought that Posados Cafe has the best Tex-Mex food in Nacogdoches and a great bar. We hadn't been there in about 6 weeks - but noticed a big change when we walked in tonight!! The first thing we noticed was the restaurant had been given a top-to-bottom cleaning. Then we realized the staff was very alert and quickly serving customers. Turns out they have a new manager - and he was one of the people serving customers! Our food and drinks were still great - but the service has really improved! We won't be waiting another 6 weeks before we go back!!!

The sauce for the chips is the least tasteful I have had anywhere in Nacogdoches. They have a green sauce you can ask for but won't tell you it's an extra 2.99 and it taste like food processed jalapeños, so not very tasteful. The only thing keeping this from a one star review is that the staff is very friendly and nice. Food is okay, but I believe that's only because they have poor ingredients. I would recommend the management to invest in better raw products so that the final dishes are better. Will not get brisket here again, but I should have figured to stick with fajita meat at a Mexican restaurant.

Food was OK. But the waitress was GREAT.. Was my friends first time there. His plate looked better than mine. Lol. Wasn't very crowded. Great service. Served pretty quick.

Millard's Crossing Historic Village is a reconstructed historic village showcasing 19th century East Texas dwellings, including log cabins and Victorian homes. Each building was moved to the site and meticulously restored to reflect the period. Visitors can experience activities like writing with quill pens in the schoolhouse and using a hand plow in the garden. Nacogdoches' downtown area offers modern shops, cafes, and eateries within charming brick-lined streets filled with vibrant storefronts housed in historic structures.
My sons wedding very nice venue! Rustic inside barn area for eating after wedding was good had plenty people that was able to nove around without being crowded with a wedding of 85 people there is a handicap ramp to enter the barn. Area at main entrance there we also rented the chapel no ramp FYI it's a older church so it's pretty original if u have a wheelchair or cane or anything it's pretty hard to get in less u are being pretty much carried which we did one of the family members church is beautiful if u like older church vibes I qas told it fits 100 we had 85 still pretty snug in the benches the bathroom option outside the chapel is a no go idk if u have to rent those potty areas or not but they was locked the main entrance barn bathroom was great in size for wheelchair etc My mil had no issues in her chair there over all a good venue!

Incredibly educational re-enactments of pioneer times with hands-on experiences for kids and adults alike - forging, butter-making (and tasting!), weaving, leatherwork, calligraphy with quills, etc. Best field trip ever! And right in our own backyard! Many thanks to all the volunteers and donors who make Millard’s Crossing happen!

A great experience with many beautiful old buildings to walk inside. Self directed tour, with hosts at several of the buildings to share history of the site.

Our Junior troop visited and earned their Playing the Past badge. They dressed up with aprons and bonnets, made butter, did laundry, went to school and wrote with quills and ink, visited the blacksmith, and listened to music from the time period. They truly experienced life from a long time ago. It was an amazing field trip and our hosts really did a fantastic job making the experience come to life for them. Highly recommend. We will come back!

It's like the Rural Life Museum in Baton Rouge, only there are fewer buildings and most of them are in a better (though less period accurate) state. Still, if you've never been to one of these type places, definitely check it out. The artifacts are interesting, particularly if you want to know about the founding of Nacogdoches. Though, I'd also recommend the Stone Fort Museum on the University campus for that. I'm also a bit miffed that part of the grounds were off limits due to a wedding, and yet they still charged full price... even though we weren't allowed to see everything 😒

One of the air conditioners was not working correctly. We asked them to check on it. They did not get a professional. Their maintenance man checked on it and she said that he was formerly in the A/C industry. Why isn't he currently? is what I should have asked myself. If you're looking for something with rustic charm it is a beautiful venue. None of us however suggest that you use it during the summer months. It was ridiculously hot. One of the people who works there said that her wedding was in one of the buildings in September. She only told us how beautiful it was, but never told us how hot they were until I came in after the wedding to complain AGAIN about the air conditioner not working correctly and our guests being hot. Very unethical. She told me that the buildings are old and we should have considered that. (I should have said the buildings are old they should be properly insulated and air conditioned) She had initially told us, "there are two air conditioners so there'll be no problem keeping it cool. You can turn it down the night before and it'll be nice and cool for y'all." Our mistake was believing that they would both be in working order. (It was actually cooler outside in the shade than it was inside the Rebellion Barn.) One A/C constantly said call for service on the thermostat. It WAS a very beautiful wedding due to my daughter's beautiful choices and decorations that worked really well with the beautiful setting. That's the only reason it gets a whole three stars. It was 5 star decorations and 0 stars for being in working order. I guess I should give it stars for beauty, but if it's too hot to enjoy beauty doesn't matter. They said they were not going to rent it out anymore during the summer months which doesn't help us. She did give us a very small partial refund. So I guess they deserve 1 star. I think it should have been a 1/3 refund. We paid the extra $250 to get into the place the day before and told the lady that came in to check on us that it was very hot. At the time I thought it was just nerves because she said when you come in from outside it's really cool, but when we left the A/C was still not working correctly. They said we should have called someone. When we left everyone was gone and we didn't have any other numbers except the main Millard's crossing number. Also If you rent it the day before they don't let you in before noon and that is not long enough time before rehearsal. For your extra money they should let you in when they open. I hope this helps. Like I say it is a VERY beautiful venue, but do not rent it in the summertime with the hopes that the air conditioner will be working for you. It would be beautiful for a winter event or in the spring before it gets hot or in the fall after it cools down.

Park
Maroney Park is a large and enjoyable park for children of all ages. The playground features wooden structures with slides, climbing areas, swings, and more. There are plenty of benches and shaded areas for parents to relax while the kids play. Additionally, there's a small trail and a splash pad within walking distance. Although the tennis courts are in poor condition, the park offers ample space for kids to run around safely.
Excellent park, 12 very nice pickleball courts lots of shade.

Be careful it's good to wear grip shoes because the floor is kind of slippery In the water killed not cutting off completely but getting low I'm not sure why maybe because it was after 5:00 but overall everything was good

This used to be a beautiful playground. I was very sad when I took my child for the first time in over a year (we rarely get to go to Nacogdoches anymore). Half the playground is closed off with construction netting. I hope this means renovations because the wood is very old and extremely weathered. Play at your own risk at this point. 🥺🥺

Nacogdoches Baseball Complex

Sports complex
Nacogdoches Baseball Complex is located in the historic downtown area, surrounded by charming brick streets and a nostalgic shopping district with locally-owned specialty and antique stores. The complex offers well-maintained fields for baseball and softball games, making it a popular spot for fall scrimmages and Little League tournaments. Additionally, the adjacent park provides a beautiful and peaceful setting for leisurely walks with your dog.
I walk my dog there in the adjacent park. Beautiful location. A quiet place to get safely off I-59.

It's okay, but I expected a little more from a university baseball field. It has covered stands, good seating, good lighting for nighttime games and the field is in good shape. It suited our purpose for a high school fall baseball tournament.
Anthony P — Google review
Played ball here during fall scrimmages way back in 1979. Umpired LL games in summer of 1981 while taking classes at SFA. Even umpired the DIXIE LL World Series that same summer. The fields are in far better shape than back in the old days. Also played lots of softball there. Good times there in the old days. Too bad there isn't room near the campus for the Jack's to play on campus.

Paid $775 to play an SFA showcase tournament here. Website stated refund fee for rain outs were: 3 games played= $0, 2 games played=$150 credit, 1 game played=$300 credit. What they don't tell you is that you don't get money back but a credit towards future events. They didn't have water coolers ready for the dugouts, yet they clearly stated on website repeatedly no outside coolers allowed. The event was very unorganized and one of the SFA staff there was extremely rude. I will add though that the 2 guys officiating were very nice and did their job. To top things off, the tournament director was not even there. He was at an Astros game!!!

Why the hell did we do all those thousands of cookie sales? To keep the scoreboard working, I thought. Hmm. But the scoreboard only worked for 1 game. So of course you still have 1 mom on each team keeping score with paper & pencil & still arguing over the scores. So where did all that money go? Fans for the elderly during Summer? No. Heat for the elderly during winter? No. Towards infants needs who lost their home to a house fire? No. Help for moms who are trying to flee a domestic abusive relationship? No. Shame on yall Nacogdoches.

Restaurant
The Barbecue House is a charming, family-owned diner with a cozy atmosphere. The meats are custom-cut for each customer, while the sides are self-serve. The standout dish is the beans, although the coleslaw falls short. For a variety of flavors, try the turkey, brisket, and sausage from their 3-meat platter - all accompanied by delicious sauce.
Stopped by The BBQ Shop for lunch while passing thru town. I’m glad I did! What a great BBQ joint. It opened in 1959! We enjoyed brisket & pulled pork sandwiches with beans, slaw, pimento cheese stuffed jalapeño and apple cobbler with sweet tea. I was all delicious! I especially enjoyed the cobbler. It was very reasonably priced, a great atmosphere and the service was top shelf. Don’t change a thing. I’ll drop by next time I’m in town.

The meat is consistently delicious!! I will be 64 in a couple of days and I've been eating here since I was a child. When it was in the location across from what is now Walmart. The sides are average. Service is with a smile. The brisket is cooked exactly how brisket should be cooked!!

I was in town for a work event and to start moving furniture to our new house in Houston. It was a long day of packing up a truck and my brother wanted a Beef & Link Po-Boy. He couldn’t have made a better choice for lunch. The link has just the right heat and the beef is smoked to perfection! They chop the meat in front of you, shake on more seasonings and add their homemade bbq sauce. It is all amazing! I didn’t get any side this time but I have tried them all and they are great! Remember if you want a Ribeye Po-Boy you should be there before the lunch rush.
Jarrod M — Google review
Where to start..knew I was in trouble when they pulled brisket slices from a hot water warmer..yep boiled brisket, cut into cubes and the sauce that drowned the meat was probably top 5 worse bbq sauces I've ever had the displeasure of eating. Couldn't finish the "chopped beef" sandwich. Edit: had to add this..brisket had no flavor(if it did the BBQ sauce killed it) and no bark,no noticeable smoke ring.
Jonathan K — Google review
Nice mom and pop feel diner. Meats are cut for you but sides are self serve. Beans were a star, coleslaw not so much. Got a 3 meat and tried the turkey, brisket, and sausage. Sauce is good. Also ordered fully loaded potato and blackberry cobbler. Cobbler is sweet and delicious and the potato was tender and good. We stayed and chatted for over 45 minutes and never felt rushed.
Matthew W — Google review
We were starved and just so happened to see this place and said why not. The pulled pork sandwich wasn't bad at all nor the sides. The customer service could of been a little more welcoming.
ALA — Google review
I had originally given this place 5 stars.. however they have went downhill. Now all their food is worse than cafeteria food. It's like all they do is reheat precooked food. Their sauces are so very watered down that you might as well just use plain water. The pictures were from our first time here 7 months ago. I wish they would go back to that...

I don’t usually come to this location a lot for many reasons, the staff seem problematic, and my orders usually come out wrong but as of recent time I was assisted by a very nice Hispanic woman by the name of Mayra who went above and beyond than the other staff members at this McDonald’s. She has made my experience more enjoyable at this location and has actually made my orders correctly! From what I’ve seen she’s definitely a hard worker who takes pride in her job and I do wish they would give her a promotion of some sort because she has been very excellent to me and whenever she takes my order or just so happens to be on kitchen duty she makes the effort to say hi to me whenever she’s able to. Please do not lose her! She’s a one of kind worker who I feel like isn’t appreciated enough!

Unresolved Quality & Deceptive Practice Complaint where I've reached out to customer care email 2x's w/no resolution. Sent Sr. VP Mr. Smoot; Chief Restaurant Officer an email. Still no response. In JUNE, purchased 2 Double Quarter Pounders with Cheese from the McDonald's located in Nacogdoches, TX. In this instance, on both orders, I received a single-patty burger that had been placed in a Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese box, despite being charged for the double.

I received the wrong order at the drive thru, so I turned around and drove a mile back to get the correct order. I'd already started eating the fries before I realized they gave me the wrong food. I gave them my receipt, explained what happened, and the lady went to get the manager. The manager comes out with my order and asks for the other food back. I couldn't believe it, but I just want my food so I went back to my car to get the other order and handed it to her. Why would they want the food back? It's been in my car. My hand was in the fries. I cannot be certain they intend to give that food to someone else, but I cannot think of any other reason they would ask for food back. Why not give the food to the customer you just made drive back to correct YOUR mistake when it's supposed to go in the trash? I've been eating here at least once a week for the past year, but never again.

I eat here every 2 weeks, I order through the app. They always get my order wrong, and when I ask for them to fix it, there's always another error. They're not rude about it, but it's very frustrating never quite getting what I paid for. It would be fine if it's a one off, but sadly not the case!

Excellent experience. If I closed my eyes I might’ve forgotten I was at a Dennys. Good food, and great service. I had Dena (sorry if misspelled their name.) and they were amazing!! (And really great at upselling!) I’ll definitely stop here again when I’m in the area.

Oh my! The food was really good but the service was astronomical! Thank you SO much Elena❣️ You kept a smile on all the kids faces and you were so attentive that we felt like family! I haven't been to a Denny's in years that I liked until today! If you’re traveling through Nacogdoches- this is a must stop for food!

Everyone is nice, but that's as far as compliments go. This has to be the worst experience at a Denny's I have ever had. My lasagna was cooked to hell and the salad was horrible with chunks of uncleaned brown lettuce, I stopped eating everything in disgust. The only reason I didn't take it back is because I am parked in the back of the lot, I'll take this as a loss this time but I'll never come back. I'll make all my food in my truck when I come to this place.
William C — Google review
I ordered the philli steak omelet with hash browns. The hash browns were over done on the outside and near raw in the center. The omelet was scorched and dry. I have eaten at many Denny's and this one was an overall disappointment. The server was very apologetic but couldn't get the manager to come to the table to address the issue. Denny's in general are consistently above average or good in my experience but I would not recommend this location.

Very nice place to go! I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted as soon as we walked in the door! Most places in these days have forgotten all about customer service. The manager and his staff were super friendly and made us feel welcome! It was a very pleasant experience at this place. The restaurant is small, but it makes up for it with the awesome customer service. The staff talks to you as if you are a close friend or family member. Really great experience. We ordered Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches and a chicken fried steak. We wanted to try something different and the food was pretty good. The only thing with the sandwiches is I think it should have come with a little more meat, but the meat that was in it was tender and delicious! All in all, it was a great experience.
Riech C — Google review
Denny's is changing. The Slamburger is still delicious, but the senior member is gone, the 2-4-6-8 menu is now "as low as" the aforementioned prices, and the $2 and $4 items are add-ons for an entree. This one quit playing music, but it is part of a truck stop, so that may be a factor. Everything changes, but I miss the Denny's of a few years ago.

Pioneer Park in Nacogdoches is a family-friendly destination with a well-shaded playground, making it ideal for children to play even in the afternoon heat. The park features benches under the trees for parents to relax while keeping an eye on their little ones. Visitors have praised the nice playground and highlighted its cool slides, although caution is advised for younger kids due to steepness.
Wonderful playground. This is our second year coming here for the Nacogdoches Open Disc Golf tournament and this is our favorite park of the 3 used. Sprawling acreage and clear sight lines with the playground up on the top of the hill.

Fun course but the signage and tee pads need work. I really enjoyed the elevation changes and shot variety. Some holes had a marshy area that will hopefully dry up soon.

Very cool park definitely good slides just be careful the one slide that is partially not covered is very steep at the end and two of the younger kids. 5 and under hit their face on the side at the bottom. Definitely fun as an adult or maybe middle school or at least 6 and older. But very cool park they have a nature walk and a cool life size tank and really just a really nice park and fun playground for the kids. Really neat parent baby (double swing where you swing and your baby faces you in a different baby swing. Super cute and a great photo opportunity.

Really well-preserved museum with a super helpful tour guide. They had a small gift shop selection though sadly with no souvenir patches for my collection. Nacogdoches is also doing a summer scavenger hunt atm which sounds really fun and this was one of the stops on the list. It’s also easy walking distance to Lanana Creek and the Eyes of Father Margil

The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House is a remarkable addition to the local art scene. This venue, with its fascinating history as a former opera house where the Marx Brothers kick-started their comedy career, has been transformed into an inviting space that showcases artwork from both local artists and international exhibitions. It serves as an inspiring and empowering destination for art enthusiasts, offering free admission to view the diverse range of exhibits and programs scheduled in this beautiful downtown location with historical significance.
This was my second time to see an exhibition, and I found the experience friendly, inviting, and surprisingly calming. I am new to the art world, and these type of events, and it was good to have such a wonderful experience

Clean. Nice art. Not alot of art though.
Christie — Google review
Cole Art Center is definitely a sparkling jewel in the local art scene. The Center, whose previous history as the Opera House is very interesting and notable as the venue where the Marx Brothers began their comedy career. The building has been respectfully converted to an open, well lit venue that shares art from local artists as well as exhibitions from around the world. Great destination for art lovers!
Di M — Google review
Does anyone know the real historical significance of this building? It happens to be where a quartet called the Singing Nightengales performed one night in 1907. They were strictly singers at the time. As it happened, a disturbance on Main St. occurred during their performance and everyone left their seats to go take a look. When the patrons returned, one of the performers by the name of Julius Marx began making a bunch of derogatory remarks about the town. The rest of the group followed suit. They figured they didn't have much to lose at this point, being upstaged by an unruly mule (or mules) outside. Surprisingly, the crowd loved it. This began a major pivot in their careers and comedy as a whole. Julius changed his name to Groucho, and along with Harpo, Chico, and Zeppo, they became the famous comedy team, the Marx Brothers. Groucho even immortalizes the town in their movie Duck Soup, where he addresses the "citizens of Freedonia." You think that is pure coincidence, when the next street over has the same name?

The Durst Taylor Museum, located in Nacogdoches, is a well-preserved 1830s wood-frame house that offers a glimpse into Texas life in the 1840s. Visitors can explore the historic house and its gardens, as well as enjoy demonstrations such as cane syrup making. Visited a couple of summers ago, a young lady (college student I believe) gave us a private tour on the small premises. We were glad she averted us from getting too close to the first fig tree I've ever seen- wasps were swarming over the sweet fruit! The home had some interesting history.

Well-kept place with detailed information about the different eras in the regions history. The young attendant/guide of the museum was very accommodating and friendly.

We went for the cane syrup demonstration. They pressed the cane stalks to extract the syrup. It was then cooked in a giant pot. They had other demonstrations going on also. Very interesting and very educational.

Nature & Parks
Banita Creek Park offers a picturesque setting with beautiful waterfalls along the creek, making it an ideal spot for summer splashing. Visitors can also discover unique attractions like an 8-foot, 300-pound sculpture by local artist Jeffie Brewer. The park features parent and child swings, a playground, and a 9-hole disc golf course. Additionally, there are amenities such as restrooms, picnic tables, and a dog park.
Great disc golf course for beginners or more experienced players looking for some challenging field work. Dog park has tall fence paved walking trail and plenty of parking.
Dyson N — Google review
When I went just a few days ago (March of 2018), they were having a new playground installed and it looked really nice. There was also a small dog park. The creek itself isn't that exciting, there's a steep drop (maybe 4 or 5 ft) to get to it, and it's shallow and heavily polluted, so fishing here is out of the question.
Chloe W — Google review
Bathrooms extremely outdated and dog park is very basic. The playground is brand new with plenty of parking and a 9 hole disc golf course. There is a pickleball court, but need your own net/balls/equipment. Plenty of parental seating as well.
Brady C — Google review
Been there couple times. Prefer pecan park but read there's a farmers market and flea market on weekends. There's a path by a little Creek, disc golf, couple play ground areas, rest rooms, picnic table. Worth going to visit

Was a really nice place had some really cool parent and child swings for the both of u to swing together nice play ground for my son and I to play at and on he had fun so did I will go back more to have more fun there with my son need to get the swing set at other parks in like west Texas

It is a great park, although, the dog park need more grass and to be cleaned more reguarly. The glass from the old neighborhood there has really been coming to rhe surface and is unsafe for the dogs.

Mexican restaurant
To be candid, the beans and rice at El Lindo Mexico are extremely unsatisfactory, lacking any flavor. If it were possible to have a meal without them, it would be preferred. The service or cooking time is consistently sluggish; however, if it pertains to the latter, then the wait is worthwhile. Nevertheless, their queso is unparalleled in town and highly addictive.
The food was amazing and surprisingly very reasonably priced! We got a quesadilla and burrito with the fried cheesecake bites. Omg so good my burrito was huge everything was fresh got my complicated order perfect, the quesadilla was big too and looks good and still melty. We got it to go everything came out fast and hot and they gave us a bunch of chips and extra salsa. Good place I'd definitely recommend.
Nikole B — Google review
Decent convenient Tex-Mex. Nothing to go out of your way for. The prices were lower on the menu than what they were on the bill. There was a disclaimer on the menu stating that all prices were subject to change. We were seated inside eating over an hour before closing time, and a staff member came by and mopped the entire floor with very strong Fabuloso cleaner. They mopped right beside our booth, and the cleaner smell was very unappetizing.
Cari — Google review
Food was good. Has the worst service. Saw a waitress to order and to bring my order only time they came to the table. I was the only person in restaurant at about 430pm. Staff was more interested in looking at there phones and talking with each other then taking care of there customer. After choking down my food with nothing to drink. Because my drink was long gone I left no tip. Tips are earned. Remembered why I quit going there. Need to get you staff off there phones and taking care of their customers.
James C — Google review
I'll be honest - the beans and rice here are straight awful. Flavorless. If I could get my meal without them, I definitely would. The service or cooking time is always really slow. (But if it's the cooking time, then it's pretty worth it) However, the queso here is the best in town. So addicting! Price and taste wise, it's great. It's different than most queso - authentic, white, and no peppers. (It has a spice there - maybe they blend the peppers? But, none is visible to the eye) It definitely saves this place from a 3 star to a 4 star review. Along with my next recommendations. The flautas are so crispy. The chicken on the inside is still moist. I Love These So Much! Also, the enchiladas mexicanas are amazing - but only if you squeeze lime on top.
Christina S — Google review
The food looks really good, but it wasn't. The vegetables were all raw in my chicken soup. None of them were cooked thoroughly, they were very hard and the tortillas were raw too. Definitely don't recommend this place.
Mariaharvick — Google review
Can't go wrong here! Very good food, service is also great! They have great tasting salsa & cheese dip!
Lucinda W — Google review
WOW THIS PLACE HAS THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN MY OPINION FROM LUFKIN TO NACOGDOCHES TEXAS. I ORDERED THE TEX MEX DINNER WITH ENCHILADAS AND IT WAS VERY GOOD. WE ALSO ORDERED A SIDE ORDER OF QUESO AND IT WAS THE BEST I HAVE EATEN IN A LONG TIME. THE HOST WERE VERY POLITE AND THE RESTRAUNT HAD A VERY COZY FEELING. I WILL DEFINATLY BE A FREQUENT DINNER HERE AND I WAS PLEASANTKY SUPRISED WHEN I GOT THE BILL. IT WAS VERY VERY RESONABLE AND I WAS VERY SATISFIED. I GIVE IT A 5 STAR RATING AND THUMBS UP....JOB WELL DONE. THANKS GUYS.

Casa Tomas is a hidden gem in Nacogdoches, offering Mexican cuisine that stands out among the local dining scene. Visitors have been impressed by the flavorful dishes, comparing the experience to dining at a top-notch restaurant in New York. The authentic quesadillas and strawberry margaritas come highly recommended. Whether stopping by for lunch or planning a return visit with friends, Casa Tomas promises a memorable culinary experience worth revisiting.
Finally! The wife and I have been trying restaurant after restaurant in Nacagdoches finding nothing. Casa Tomas tastes like a 5 star chef from New York decided to hide away and start cooking Mexican food in East Texas. The food has flavor, something I haven't seen in town yet. I've spent hundreds on food that didn't have half the flavor. Well done! We'll be back and bring friends. Oh, and you have to try theirv strawberry margaritas. Excellent.
Ed W — Google review
I rate at 1 star because our waiter was awesome! This is constructive criticism. .... ..I looked at the good reviews before we went and they got to be kidding!! The food is nothing short of terrible! Maybe people around here are just used to it. The tomato salsa and sauces are all made from canned tomatoes or sauces and you can taste it. Nothing fresh...all canned! No natural fresh flavor. ..the beans didnt taste like beans...they have some kind of aftertaste ...not natural taste for beans ...cant really figure our what they did to make the beans taste like "NOT BEANS.".they may have come from a can also..go figure. Rice was just ok. The con queso puff was something I had never seen before...it looked pretty on the plate..it had a texture much like a crunchy fortune cookie with queso poured over it. NOT good..I think more of a novelty item cause it is different.Anything with queso poured over it has got to make it better...right? No. I have had over a half million people read my reviews. I review a lot of places and not often I give a 1 star review....thumbs down! This isn't even close to the taste of real mexican food.

First time here and the food is delicious, the prices are good, and the service was exceptional! Our server was Anneka, she was so helpful and polite (and not in the fake, "I'm only being nice cuz I have to" way). She was on top of everything, and very helpful, and patient answering allergy questions. I love that they have green sauce, with plenty of cilantro! Highly recommend!
Misty F — Google review
I visited at lunch time, and the quesadillas were pretty authentic. I wish I had the chance to have the margaritas, but will definitely revisit when I am in the area.

Great service and authentic Texas Mex. Loved their rice of all things and their avocado salsa. The fajita tacos were very fresh and bottomless chips topped it all off. Pet friendly table on front patio by request.

All time favorite place to eat! Cheese enchiladas are the best in the world! If you dine in totally recommend sitting next to the fish tanks just because they're cool to look at. Also staff has always been super polite and observant. Call in orders are welcomed too and they give you chips and salsa even with call ins. Love this place!

It was amazing! The food was great. I think I would come back here again. It deserves 10/5 stars! Service was great. We had about 32 people and they got all of us served very quickly with only 1 waitress and 2 waiters! I would recommend this to anyone and everyone

Sandwich shop
Subway is a casual counter-serve chain that offers customizable sandwiches and salads, including health-conscious options. The Manager/Boss, who often wears a blue bandanna as a face mask, is known for being exceptionally kind and welcoming to customers. The store maintains a consistently clean environment, while the food always delivers in terms of taste and quality. It's clear that the Manager/Boss deserves recognition for their exceptional work ethic and customer service skills.
This isn't a fake review like the other subways. Lisa was our server, and she was very nice and knowledgeable. We could tell she took pride in her job. I got sick after eating at the other Subways and was told nothing could be done because I had no receipt. University is our favorite subway now. Thank you Lisa for the great experience and amazing food!

Depending on which employee you get, determines my rating. But I'm getting real sick & tired of dealing with this one little girl attitude. Her name is rubbing off her name tag, but there's definitely a heart right beside her name & she has light brown hair up in a messy bun. She is always frowned up, never greets the customers, never makes eye contact, never smiles, never friendly, she's just never pleasant to deal with. I hate for her to make my sandwiches. Like who hurt her for the rest of her life??? The other girl in my pictures, who wears her hat backwards & has all the pins on her hat, she's great- she smiles, she's friendly, she greets us, I love when she makes my sandwiches. Give her a raise please. The one with the attitude- if she don't like or appreciate her job, she doesn't need to be there. Point blank period. She's bad for business. I hate walking in Subway & seeing her- I be praying she doesn't end up making my sandwiches. And I wouldn't mind driving to Subway on North St but they never have a good chip selection.
