The Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site, a museum showcasing beaux arts architecture and interior design, welcomes visitors with a visitor center and guided tours running for about 45 minutes every hour except noon. The tour covers the first and second floors as well as the basement of the 54-room mansion. Admission fee is $10 per person, while beautiful grounds provide stunning views of Hudson River.
This is an absolute must-see in the Hudson Valley. The grounds are open and free for visitors and tours through the mansion are a modest price. Purchased in the 1940s, all items within the mansion transport you to a different time. Our tour guide was Eric, and was so friendly and knowledgeable. The tour was over an hour and took us through 3 different floors of the estate and multiple rooms. Each floor was unique and preserved in a respectful and tasteful way. I can’t say enough about how special this estate is and the grounds. I highly recommend the garden that is located next to the gardeners house and shed. A beautiful place for photos. Walks about the grounds are beautiful and is a perfect way to start or end the tour. The cost per person is $15 and is very informative. There are handicap accessible options for touring the estate that will allow access to all floors of the mansion.

Very nice half day trip. Worth doing. Park was very well cared for and clean. The National Park staff was very helpful and made the trip experience great. The mansion does not have AC or a public bathroom. The tour of the mansion was very nice, enjoyed it. The mansion has a nice flower garden. No food at the park. Outside the park theres food and gas ⛽️ stations within 20 mins. I recommend this National Park property for a visit.
Lov G — Google review
I've liked the guided tour very much: lot of information given orally (but few written descriptions inside about the art pieces). It's sad though to see the mansion's state as the Federal funding is not enough to ensure its maintenance. The gardens are maintained by local volunteers, just to give you a hint.. In any other countries (like France as an example), maintenance would be done to illustrate this Gilded age of America.
Yves R — Google review
The mansion is truly impressive, the richness of interior is simply amazing. Stunning landscape around. Everything is preserved very carefully – it is under protection of National Park Service. The Park Ranger told us an exiting story about Vanderbilt family, their ups and downs. Really recommend it for visiting.
Daryna D — Google review
Truly a wonderful experience! The tour takes you through the entire 1st and second floors, plus some of the basement. It's formatted as a listen to the tour guide for a while, then go off on your own and look around the floor for a bit, come back to the group, and so on. It was a great way to see everything at your own pace and be able to ask the guide extra questions. The tour is probably about an hour, but they do let you leave after the first floor if you don't want to continue. Our tour guide (I don't remember his name but he was from NJ!) was super knowledgeable about the Vanderbilts and the property. I could have asked about anything and I'm sure he would have had an answer! The grounds are stunning and very pleasant to walk around. There is a beautiful Italian garden, a giant carriage house, and various viewpoints of the Hudson river. For the price ($15), this can't be beat. It really is a beautiful place with an interesting history. Can't recommend it enough! This is a wheelchair accessible tour, with a wheelchair lift and an elevator. There are two staircases that are also used in the standard tour, thought the guide made it clear he was happy to operate the elevator if needed. The mansion is not air conditioned, so plan accordingly. Water bottles are allowed in, but other food and drink is not. I would not recommend bringing young children as you must be careful not to touch anything and do need to be quiet to hear the guide.
Sara J — Google review
My wife and I visited this beautiful mansion in Hyde Park near the Roosevelt library . It was a tour and it was fun the architecture was great and I'm glad that now the average person can come and enjoy what was once only for the rich and few.
Dwayne W — Google review
We visited on a Friday afternoon in late June 2025. When we arrived there were plenty of spaces in the parking lot. There were a lot of people here as well. We walked to the visitor center first. It was very ornate inside just like the mansion. There is an info desk at the back right of the main hall which had multiple rangers at. We rushed there first because we needed to get tickets to tour the mansion and it looked like a busy day. We did get tickets for the 5 of us for the 1PM tour. The tickets are $15/person and 15 years and younger are free. BUT if you have the NPS annual pass it's free for up to 4 people. So we had an annual pass and a 4th grade pass so we were fine. We also got junior ranger books here to work on. The NPS passport cancellation stamps are also in here on a table on the back left of the main hall. There were a few exhibits on the left side side in the adjoining rooms but it wasn't much. The bathrooms are to the right when you walk in. The kids worked on the junior rangers while we waited for our tour to begin. We did end up walking around outside exploring the gardens as well. We took lots of pictures and it was overcast skies so it was fantastic. We also walked out back behind the mansion which was beautiful as well. When it was time for our tour we met up with our group outside the mansion and all walked in together into the main atrium. The tour guides said we could listen to him talk or just start exploring the main floor. I think I was the only one who started walking around while we they were talking. I knew it was going to be a mad house after they finished talking. After they finish their talking everyone looks around and the rangers answers any questions you may have. We took a bunch of pictures. After a few mins they gather everyone back up and we moved to the upper floor and did the same thing again. The most interest factoid about the upstairs was the husband's and wife's bedrooms, which were separate. They had a special door that opened into each other's room but they had locks on them as well. The joke was that the wife's room had like 3 locks on it while the husband had just 1. You can probably understand why that was. wink wink. Lastly we went to the basement where the servants and staff lived and this is where the tour ends. Overall this was an amazing site. The mansion was so opulent and filled with such ornate stuff it was like a art museum. We would definitely come back here again to do the tour or even just walk around the property and gardens. Especially if we have the NPS pass anyways and can get in for free.

Beautiful and fascinating visit to the Vanderbilt Mansion in Hyde Park. The historical information was presented very well by the park ranger—friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions. The interior is truly opulent, and we were able to see the upstairs, main level, and basement. Walking the grounds adds to the experience. It can get warm inside during the summer months, but they do provide fans to help. A great stop for history lovers!

The Town-Hyde Park Historical Society is a small museum that has recently reopened, offering a wealth of historical artifacts and information. The staff members are friendly and well-informed about the exhibits, which cover topics such as Franklin D Roosevelt and the history of Hyde Park. Visitors can even enjoy complimentary apple cider and donuts while exploring the museum. In addition to educational displays, paintings are available for purchase.
I've been passing by this museum for a while now, and was so happy to see it open again! It's a small museum with LOTS of history in it! The workers are lovely, and very knowledgeable of the artifacts on display, on Franklin D Roosevelt, and on Hyde Park history! They even offered free apple cider and donuts to us! You can purchase paintings from here too. I think my favorite things I saw were the old baseball uniforms from past teams, the FDR vintage voting booth, and the penny farthing bicycle! Whether you're into history or not, this museum is well worth a visit! It's a hidden gem of Hyde Park!

On Friday September 20, 2019 I was driving back to the hotel from FDR and I noticed the road sign indicating an historic train station. I slowly drove down the hill and found it by the tracks facing the river. Unfortunately for me the station was closed at the time I was there. It is wonderful that this historic landmark has been preserved. Nearby is a small boat launch.
Richard K — Google review
Many either have forgotten or never knew that a scene was shot here for Hitchcock's "North by Northwest" 1959 thriller. At that time, the remains of a "subway" walking tube below the tracks remained from earlier days when passengers boarded or disembarked. The train was the famed, glamorous streamliner known as the 20th Century Limited that ran from NY City's Grand Central Terminal to Chicago.
E. P — Google review
The trip wouldn't be complete without vivifying this station. So wonderfully maintained.
Probal D — Google review
The museum was not open when we were there but I don’t think there is much to see anyway by peeking in. What is special is the story of the station and where it is located right next to the Hudson River. Hey it was good enough for the King and Queen of England. They had a hotdog with President Roosevelt there!

This scenic park offers a variety of activities, including well-maintained trails perfect for peaceful strolls or invigorating jogs. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of nature while exploring wooded paths that are clearly marked and in excellent condition. For those looking to engage in sports, there’s an 18-hole disc golf course suitable for all skill levels, along with facilities for tennis, basketball, and even a skate park.
Great newer playground with slides, swings and a good little kids area.

It's fun going here to hike, play or exercise! The playground equipment is a little outdated, but it's still playable! The trails bring you to some really cool waterfalls, and or a creek! Some of us always go to meet up the play Pokemon go here.

Absolutely loved it here as a kid. It's still a wonderful little park. I'd bring teenagers here. The trail isn't recommended for children. I found a condom on the trail; also found a wasp nest the hard way. The park was otherwise wonderful and would gladly go again!
UwU F — Google review
Went for the skatepark. Not much to it except a bunch of grinding rails, benches & that sort of thing. There is also a mini ramp. Decent width to it, probably 12ft wide... I'm guessing 4ft high. But the mini ramp is not on level ground & so one side slopes downward. Also the ramp is flimsy feeling. One of the panels has a few small holes in it & when I jumped turned 180 on that side it felt like I was gonna break through! Didn't stay long. 😕
Meghan L — Google review
It would be nicer if teenagers weren't up there always smoking weed.. I have a 12 year old that can skate his butt off ND we can't go there cause you got kids smoking in the pavilion or over next to the basketball courts and I have a 8 year old that wants to follow right behind my 12 year old and my twelve-year-old knows exactly what it is he learns it in school and house class so he's not dumb I think there needs to be at least one cup up there during warm sunny days there's even drinking going on up there with young kids

The antique center in Hyde Park is an enjoyable place to explore, with its two floors and spacious layout. There are numerous rooms packed with vintage treasures, including a wide variety of antique china, dinnerware, silverware, tea sets, and ceramic figurines. Additionally, customers can find a decent selection of jewelry/accessories, furniture, and clothing. The staff is both friendly and helpful while also allowing visitors the freedom to browse at their own pace.
HUGE - and full of options, they’ve got an upstairs w amazing clothes!!! We will be back - so many things, a little more expensive than the consignments up the road (both are amazing and the close vicinity makes it a whole trip!) Just entering this gorgeous building and walking under their skylight is enough to make you want to visit - and the locally roasted coffee (not freshly roasted but that honestly doesn’t matter) was a great perk! (I will have to find a place and then come back for one of these mirrors!!!)
Josh A — Google review
Fabulous assortment of antiques, from truly historic all the way to recent vintage, all at very reasonable prices. The areas for each vendor have a wide variety of goods between them, so anything you're interested in, they probably have on their sprawling, multi-room retail space. There was everything from clothing, jewelry, knicknacks, and toy sellers to furniture, housewares, tools, old books and paper goods, and even a display of vintage uranium glass that was especially cool to see in person! They have a small shelf area in the front to place items you find and want held while you continue shopping, which I had never seen before and was very helpful during my visit. I ended up buying some 1970s Avon perfume that was like new. They were very attentive and friendly during checkout as well, and I definitely recommend you stop by if you're a fan of antiques who happens to be in the area!

Great shop that has been in business for decades. Wonderful mix of vintage and antique items. Conveniently located next to a great diner (EveryReady) and also near the NPS managed Roosevelt Presidential Library. A must stop for anyone interested in jewelry, glass, pottery, furniture, and other decorative objects. Lastly, this popular multi dealer center once showcased far more antique items, but as with all shops things change. If you are interested in vintage it’s a well worth stop, because you just never know, and NY is a great state to hunt.

This 2 floor antique center was so fun to walk through! The space is very large and there are many rooms filled with antique goodies! They have a very large selection of antique china, dinnerware, silverware, tea sets and ceramic figurines. They also have a good selection of jewelry/accessories, furniture and some clothing. The workers are friendly and helpful but they also give you your space when looking around. Although the prices ranged on the items, I felt that they were a little bit on the higher side compared to some other antique shops. Not terrible though. Today I picked up a nice antique cat planter and 3 antique kitchen tools (egg beater, meat tenderizer and the other not sure the name of it) for about $60.

Domino's Pizza is a popular food chain that offers an extensive selection of pizzas and various other dishes and sides for delivery or carryout. Recently, due to the current challenging times, there were no available drivers at one of their locations, causing some inconvenience for customers who had to pick up their orders themselves. However, it is important to acknowledge the hard work and dedication displayed by the young man working alone at the Hyde Park branch.

Me and my boyfriend ordered dominoes tonight and what we ordered was a large pepperoni pizza and we ordered from here all the time and have had no problem what so ever in the past and tonight I took the first bite out of the first slice and there was bo sauce on my pizza and I took the cheese off and come to find out there is no sauce and with that the pizza was way to greasy !! And we also ordered the lava cakes and he never received his icing with the order as well I’m very disappointed

me and my boyfriend had it delivered to my house. we ordered the $20 meal thing that had 2 pizzas, parmesan bites, and the cinnamon sticks. he got a thin crust pizza with sausage and i got a hand tossed pizza with chicken and ranch. his pizza didn’t have the sausage and my pizza didn’t have chicken or ranch on it. we also didn’t get the parmesan bites or cinnamon sticks. i usually never go to Dominos because stuff like this happens but my boyfriend wanted it. i don’t recommend ordering from here.

I get here at 9:50 PM. The place doesn’t close till midnight. I go and try and get in the door. It’s locked. The lights are on and there’s a worker cleaning stuff and she just ignores me for a good minute while I knock on the door. I just wanted some pizza and this lady flat out ignores me (let me remain you the place is still supposed to be open). Maybe she was deaf or something i don’t know but why was the door even locked.

They messed up are order. (Which was simple) half and half and instead got a butchered mess. It tasted fine, but I couldn't eat most of the pizza. The cheesey bread was good but pizza but cheap. Get the extras here but not the pizza. The service was quick and cold. I would go to another dominos or another pizza restaurant in general. Warning sloppy cooks. Dark hair in the food, but it was cheap so what do you expect. I have yet again tried this domino's 1/21/2022. I do not understand how you can not cut a pizza properly. It was somehow cut worse and somehow undercooked. The pizza was called in advance and wasn't ready on time. The staff seem smart enough to know how to do tasks. From what I could smell off one employee,I'm assuming they are all drinking on the job. It's very unfortunate that I can't give zero stars. Just don't bother coming here

I had a delightful brunch this morning at the cafe Cranberry's At Tilley Hall. The food was fresh, hot, and incredibly tasty. The service was excellent, and the Autumn-themed decor added to the ambiance of the place. I highly recommend giving it a well-deserved 5-star rating. If you're in search of an amazing brunch experience, Cranberry's is the place to go. They also serve delicious donut muffins that are simply irresistible.
Donut muffins??!! Ridiculously good. All the food is delicious and the staff is like family. Such a wonderful place. Oh, they also make coffee ice cubes for their iced coffee which is clutch.

We had an amazing brunch at Cranberry’s. The goat cheese fritters with fig jam were out of this world and the perfect way to start. My wife had the pancake platter and we both loved the moist, fluffy pancakes. I had the eggs Benedict and the hollandaise was honestly some of the best I’ve ever had. The service was warm and friendly, and the staff gave us some great local tips. We also tried a scone on our server’s recommendation and it was incredible. We’ll definitely be back!

This place used to be the best place to grab breakfast in the morning. Sit down and have some coffee in the mornings. My family used to look forward to it. Now its a glorified catering place that only opens for "special brunch" on Sunday ONLY. When we asked about their rumor to open back full time they told us March 2025. We were lied to. We miss our favorite place. We are never available for fancy brunch on a Sunday. I don't know many who DO have the time on Sundays. I hope they finally bring back what made the place so great.

Diner
Eveready Diner is a retro-style chrome and neon diner that offers classic American dishes and cocktails, with the added convenience of 24-hour service on weekends. The diner has a 50s vibe both inside and out, creating a fun atmosphere for diners. Customers praise the generous portions, friendly staff, and efficient service. The menu offers a wide range of options from unique breakfast choices to familiar favorites, all of which are described as delicious.
Stopped in on the way up route 9 for breakfast with the family. We were given a warm welcome by the staff and quickly given a booth. The restaurant was very inviting, clean and there was no issue with noise even though it was a full house. With a full house, the orders didn’t take long to come out. I don’t think it took more than 10 minutes from the time we ordered to the time the food arrived to the table. Food was warm, fruit was fresh, and the service was friendly. Our server was always checking in on us and making sure everything was all right. Overall, we ate well, the family had a great time and we’re sure that if we’re ever in the area again we have a great place to come and eat.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the generous portion sizes. The food was tasty, and the customer service was excellent—our server was incredibly attentive

I really enjoyed my visit to this diner. The food was solid and the prices reasonable. The staff was friendly and attentive, the tables were comfortable, and the place looked great.

Vintage diner with good service but our omelettes weren't great. Home fries were excellent. If I went again I'd try lunch. Atmosphere and service are great but the food could be better.

Best breakfast! Started with blueberry pie a la mode. Coffee with baileys and delicious veggie and Greek omelets. Veggies were crisp. Waitress took us in stride. I switched my home fries for cheesy grits. Bought wonderful pastries for tomorrow. Wouldn’t hesitate to come back. Very clean

Very classic diner! Food is overall just okay but the portions are so enormous that you won't care. Seriously, we left with soooo many leftovers. The patty melt was pretty good and we enjoyed the pot roast quite a bit. The fries are also really crispy and tasty. The menu is very extensive, so anybody would be able to find something here. The service is friendly and attentive. The booth was clean. Parking is aplenty.

First shout out with much love to all of you there in the diner. I was visiting from Florida and ordered a pickup the first now of our arrival, the London broil was awesome 😎😋👌❤️The hub cap nachos divine. Yesterday my mom and I dined in, the waiter was so nice, young man very respectful and nice, the atmosphere was like walking in to an old school diner very nice. I absolutely loved it. Will definitely visit again in August for my next trip to Poughkeepsie. Much love. The hospitality and the food twenty thumbs up.

Great service! And a beautiful restaurant. We ate here twice once for breakfast and once for lunch. Breakfast was a wild western omelet. Which was huge portions with a huge sign of potatoes. Pretty tasty. Lunch was a veggie burger which I thought was a burger with vegetables on it. I didn't recall the same vegetarian, so I was kind of surprised when it didn't have real meat. But all was well. The service was great both times. And the restroom is beautiful. Hope to go back one more time before we leave.

French restaurant
The Bocuse Restaurant, located at the Culinary Institute of America, offers an upscale dining experience with a focus on French cuisine. The bright and art deco ambiance sets the stage for attentive and informative service provided by eager-to-please students. Guests can enjoy a variety of dishes prepared by the students, who are also enthusiastic about explaining the food and its preparation. The menu features delectable options such as truffle soup, perfectly cooked meats, and balanced flavors across all courses.
Just went here last night. It was lovely and lively. We got seated a large table with a booth. The food was unique and well presented. Delicious flavor and good portions. The bread and castilla de canena olive oil combo is to die for. The students and teachers are professional and maintain a down to earth presence and always with a smile. 😊 they were so kind and always were able to accommodate to our needs and wants

Wow! The flagship restaurant of the CIA run by the Senior Students. Great looking restaurant with a view of the kitchen and Wine 🍷 Cellar. Immaculately clean facility. Great staff. Reasonably priced. Card payments are accepted. I recommend going a few weeks into the semester, the students have ironed out all the kinks by then. Menu changes frequently. Table side ice cream 🍨 was awesome. My halibut was the star. Our server’s Mike and Deron were great! We will definitely be going back.

Excellent experience!!! The cuisine and service at The Bocuse Restaurant were impeccable. Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant. It was lovely to feast your eyes upon and then devour the beautiful dishes these students created for us. Wishing them all the best in their future careers as the fantastic chefs they already are! It was one of the most memorable dining experiences we have ever had 😍😋❤️

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I will dream about the Halibut with beurre blanc sauce for as long as I live. We visited this area just to eat at the CIA restaurants, and it was fantastic: two dinners at Bocuse, two at American Bounty, two lunches and one breakfast at Apple Pie Bakery, took the tour, too. Bocuse was my favorite. Beautifully designed restaurant. I had PEI mussels in coriander-lemongrass broth, bok choy and lime; slow roasted halibut with potato puree, roasted cauliflower, smoked roe (SO GOOD), and beurre blanc (this sauce brought to the table by two servers in a copper cup, ceremoniously poured over my halibut!! beautiful); dessert Butter Poached Apples with Pink Peppercorn Rose Meringue, Brown Sugar Cremeux, Warm Caramel Sauce (SOOOO GOOD), Tawny Port Wine Gel, Toasted Almonds, Parmigiano-Reggiano, and Saffron Ice Cream (this dessert was AMAZING). Second dinner: charcuterie appetizer with duck liver pate (I usually don't like pate, but this was EXCELLENT!), Aged Hudson Valley Rohan Duck, Parsnip puree (piped inside a crepe!), baby beets, black trumpet mushrooms, Duck Jus (also brought to the table by two servers and poured over my duck - loved it!); dessert a selection of three cheeses with fig and grapes, fig bar, honeycomb, almonds, house-made crackers. YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE this restaurant. To boot, the students are fantastic: they are friendly, they know what they are doing, and they are jazzed about their school and their future. A memorable experience.

We had an outstanding meal last night at Bocuse, one of the three student run restaurants at The Culinary Institute of America. The fact that Students waited on us, served us & prepared every aspect of the meal makes it that much more special. I was blown away by the teamwork we got to witness through the glass as we watched the kitchen work. The attention to detail and presentation were impeccable, the staff was extremely attentive and the food was absolutely delicious! I look forward to many many more meals like this!

Great price/value. Beautiful space.. slightly hard to find w/poor signage. This is definitely a teaching restaurant... so I understand & give lots of grace. With that in mind my constructive feedback. The octopus salad was really rubbery...not just chewy. The duck was overdoneon the ends, but ok in the middle. A+ for presentation of all dishes.

Wow. Everything about this experience was excellent. The food was all incredible and you are left more than satisfied by the end of your meal. Every staff member we encountered was extremely polite and friendly, and it's fun getting to watch the chefs work through the glass window. At the time we made our reservation they asked if it was for a special occasion, to which we said it was our anniversary. Throughout the night many staff members made sure to wish us a happy anniversary, and we were given a card signed by the staff. It was a very sweet touch that made the experience that much more special. It was a 3-hour drive for us and we look forward to coming back!

This is a great place to visit. Young chefs try various ways before becoming real chefs. I strongly believe it depends on who's cooking your meal The results could be different. The reason why I didn't score Bocuse at 5 was my soup was not hot and my ice cream was more like a cream taste wise and consistency.
