Sights & Landmarks
The Saugerties Lighthouse, a restored 1869 historic landmark on the Hudson River, serves as a bed-and-breakfast with two guest rooms and shared facilities. The lighthouse grounds feature various amenities such as a kitchen, parlor, gift shop, and museum. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Catskill Mountains and the Hudson River Valley from this operational lighthouse. Additionally, tourists can explore the Kiersted House in the Village of Saugerties to learn about local architectural history.
The walk is very easy but hot and humid most days. The lighthouse area and house are closed on weekends 🙃 but you can still get to it and take some pretty pics as I did for my daughter's maternity shoot.

I wandered around the outside, so cute, secluded overlooking river- hard to get booking- was at Total Tennis on labor day sightseeing, discovered this place it’s a bit of a mucky walk-through mud and reeds… You can also get to it from a boat, which is probably much cleaner, but it’s so romantic on the edge of the water and an old old lighthouse rustic vibe .someday I wanna stay here, the outside and walking around the porch wrapping around. It was just so cute.
Rich K — Google review
Pay attention to the tides!! You cannot visit at high tide. A short walk through a preserve over a few wood bridges. There is water on both sides of the walk and at high tide they meet. Wear proper footwear.
Sean S — Google review
The Saugerties Lighthouse is a beautiful and historic gem. The lighthouse was built in 1869. Today it is possible to take a scenic hike to it, take a tour of it, or stay overnight in it. The nature trail to the lighthouse is open daily. The trail to the lighthouse is an easy half mile walk. The trail offers scenic panoramic views of the Hudson River. Be sure to check the tide table that is posted online to avoid tidal water on your hike. The lighthouse is actually still used today as an aid for navigating the Hudson. If you’re interested in tours or staying overnight check the Saugerties Lighthouse website. Parking for the lighthouse is easy and the nature trail starts from the parking lot. Overall, the lighthouse is a nice piece of history located on the scenic Hudson.
Ryan M — Google review
I can't comment on the rooms or service since we didn't stay here. It's about a half mile hike to the lighthouse, some on boardwalks. You can only view the lighthouse as the walkway around it is closed off. Nice views of the Hudson River when you get to the lighthouse.

What a beautiful hide away. Visiting the local area and come across this little gem Googling. Not sure how crowded it normally gets, but went on a Tuesday and off season in October, it’s pretty quiet and chill.

I haven't rented this house as of yet but a very nice location. Water is all around the house and you have a great view of the osprey nesting with babies on a pole in the water

Visited for an evening stroll. Great peacefu/ relaxingl location. Visiting hours are limited and mostly available during the weekdays, so review hours/ plan ahead. Boardwalk with some mud/ sand paths to Lighthouse. Walk/ stroll to lighthouse was about 15 minutes.

Nature & Parks
Esopus Bend Nature Preserve is a sprawling 160-acre woodland sanctuary located in Saugerties, offering a picturesque setting and an array of outdoor activities. Visitors can explore hiking trails, take guided nature walks, enjoy birding field trips, and even embark on canoe tours or kayaking adventures along the Esopus Creek shoreline. The preserve is home to diverse wildlife including red foxes, eagles, turkeys, and various bird species.
Great little hike with Buddy (an 11 year old dachshund) Just enough challenge without being too challenging or too rocky. Well marked trails, though still ended up getting out on the wrong side of the park. 2.6 miles , 1hr 45 minutes. Long enough to exhaust the dog so i can leave him alone tonight and take in a movie without guilt.
Janet B — Google review
Perfect scenic trails that allow you to bring your dog/s. There is limited parking but we didn’t have a problem. There is a beautiful creek that you can walk along as well. It’s also not too challenging and the perfect spot to get steps in while catching in the magnificent scenery. I will certainly be returning when the leaves start to change next month.
Lindsay — Google review
This preserve gets two stars. One just for preserving the area from development and protecting the watershed. Two for no trash. I guess if I lived here it would be a great place to walk a dog or get your steps in. Otherwise sadly disappointing from the standpoint of restoration, natural beauty, or biodiversity. Chock full of invasive species and doesn't seem to be managed with the promotion sustaining of native species in the forefront. Trails are poorly marked and could be better maintained. Just kind of sad and ugly, honestly.
Anna M — Google review
Nice quiet place with some trails. It was a little interesting getting to it as you go through housing areas and it has a tiny little parking area. Not big at all and could be hard to find a spot if it was crowded. No one was there when we were there. We walked a few of the trails, went down to the creek.
Jen F — Google review
I did the blue trail starting at shady lane. It was a beautiful and and easy hike compared to most catskill hikes. Kids would enjoy but it's a bit far. Probably 2 miles give or take .5
Long B — Google review
It was challenging enough to get my heart rate up a few times, but relaxing enough to unwind.
Terri M — Google review
We had a lovely hike through the preserve on a beautiful sunny spring day. It's not a demanding trail at all which was perfect for me being my knee is having issues. It didn't stress my knees at all. It's lovely standing by the creek. There is a small waterfall along the trail.
Tony S — Google review
Nice area to explore. We hiked a few relatively short trails. Some inclines that were good excersize, and the trails don't take long. The entrance we used only had a few parking spaces. The Saugerties Lighthouse is nearby

Nature & Parks
Seamon Park, located in Saugerties, is a manmade park known for its beautiful flowers and plants that create a relaxing atmosphere. The park features a BBQ area and a small playground for children, making it suitable for various events such as weddings, birthdays, and holiday parties. While the entrance to the parking area may not be clearly marked, the gardens are adorned with memorial benches, a gazebo, and elegant statues.
This place looks the same as it did 30 years ago. It looks smaller as I've gotten older, but it seems to have not changed. There's an old Sawyer Mill at the creek, remnants of an old house, a small playground for little kids that looks like it hasn't been changed in 30 plus years. If you looking for a small park to go to just to relax this is it. Especially during the mum festival. They have a lot of beautiful mums flowers, a couple vendors, and some music. There's also a small petting zoo.
Buck R — Google review
Overall fun park. Very diverse (and maybe more hazardous for toddlers) but we still had a great time. The park grass tends to flood in the rain so our socks got wet and both parking lots require you to walk across grass. Oh bonus points for the name. Super clever 😏
TeamLas3r — Google review
Seamon Park has beautiful trees in spring. There is a nice view of the Catskill Mountains from the park as well. It is a quiet area. The park has a small parking area and getting in and out may be tricky on when 9W is busy.
Carol J — Google review
Always a nice garden. In past they had tulips. This time mainly varieties of daffodils and narcisis. Parking by former grissmill is safer than street side, however after school there may be some smoking Hooligans.
Melissa F — Google review
A pretty little park , easy walking distance from the center of the village. One of only 2 village parks that allow dogs ( leashed). A very serene and peaceful spot with a beautiful view of the mountains. I took these photos in the spring- lots of beautiful blooming trees!
R S — Google review
The entrance to the parking area could be better marked. It felt a bit like I was entering someone's private driveway. The gardens are lovely with many memorial benches, a gazebo, and neat statues. The playground is quite old school: mostly jungle gyms, big rocks and logs to climb. There are baby swings but no big kid swings despite a frame that looks like it housed them. My kids(4 and 8) weren't real impressed with that aspect. Picturesque views of mountains, forest, and fields with grazing deer.
Emily C — Google review
This is a wonderful park to visit with a large group. There is a large pavillion. We saw rabbits and squirrels.

Saugerties Village Beach is a picturesque spot with a rich historical background. The area offers scenic/historic bike routes, and maps can be obtained from the Saugerties Town Hall or Village Offices. Visitors can also download the maps online for convenience. The Kiersted House, located in the village, serves as the headquarters of the Historical Society and is an architectural gem dating back to the early 18th and 19th centuries.
I remember swimming here as a kid with my older brothers and sisters. The town would always have an active lifeguard there, and each summer, they would have swim lessons for the kids. This was a happening place back in the 80s and 90s and holds a special place in my heart. There was a news paper article one year that featured all of the kids doing lessons. I remember getting Italian ice across the way, going to fays, and the gas station to get 5 cent bazooka joe gum....I know I sound old...but these good times were only 34 years ago!
Andres M — Google review
Great little gem.perfect for seniors and wheelchairs. Bathrooms are clean. And it feels very.much like your own private spot. Life guard was there. And we watched a group of seniors doing Thai chi....it was a perfect morning!
Margaret C — Google review
Such an awesome spot! We took our hybrid kayak and ventures into the creek, super clean great water to swim in, rocky textures further in! Only trouble I felt is the big real state block of building coming right on the accessible public waters. Not the best view at first. Otherwise, we really enjoyed it!
Perla M — Google review
Nice place to fish and kayak when the fecal content isn't high! It's a shame drains still run off into the esopus. Could be nice and clean if run offs were monitored! Big fish in here, especially upstream! Very seceneic along the esopus! Would definitely recommend!
Zachary P — Google review
An excellent, authentic Hudson River experience! (It's inaccessible at hight tide — for your information. That bumps authenticity even higher. Parking space is the only shortage.

can be a nice, quiet place to hang for a little while. it's a shame how those new buildings to the left of the beach have ruined the view. also people bring their dogs here all the time when it clearly says no dogs. nobody polices this. kids running around the grass without shoes on and dogs peeing all over the place. it's a shame

Antique store
Shopping
Saugerties Antiques Center is a charming spot in the town, offering an array of unique and quirky items for antique enthusiasts. The shop features estate jewelry, fine art, luxury bags, vintage furniture pieces, and other collectibles dating back a hundred years. Visitors can expect to find an eclectic mix of vintage vinyl records and unusual items throughout the store. While some may find the prices to be on the higher side, others appreciate that each item is fairly priced based on its value.
Great shop! As someone who buys and resells AND collects lots of mid century vintage items, display is priced accordingly. For those who think that this place is overpriced, you may not know how to price items. Everything in the stores fairly priced according to what it’s worth. The staff was Friendly and the store was fairly large.
Joan L — Google review
Went here for the first time yesterday with my wife with no purchasing intent as we were killing time before meeting with a friend. We ended up purchasing a glass display cabinet and a wood hutch cabinet for our kitchen. They have amazing items that are very unique, in all kinds of price ranges. Some very rare things that I’ve never seen in person anywhere else, too! We have had our sights on items like the ones we purchased for a long time, and aside from great pricing, they offered delivery for a reasonable fee. That was the deal-maker for us because I have a small car. I can’t wait to behold my items when they’re delivered! I’ll definitely be back for more.

They were not so friendly. They didn't even greet me when I walked in ( and they were all there in the front)...it is so important to have people friendly people working with customers. That made me change my mind about purchasing anything

Small and insanely overpriced. Parking is also tough in the area. Edit: Five years later, some fool decided to wake up and write a snarky response to my two sentence negative review. Lol. Please avoid this place. These people are obviously insane. You’ve been warned.

American restaurant
Restaurant
Miss Lucy's Kitchen is a rustic cafe located in Saugerties, offering locally sourced American cuisine in a cozy, country-style setting. The restaurant has won the Best of Hudson Valley award and prides itself on being a farm-to-table establishment. The menu features seasonal dishes with a focus on local meats and duck, all prepared in-house. Owners Marc Propper and Michelle Silver bring their extensive culinary experience to the table, having opened the restaurant in 2003.
Went here expecting a casual mediocre diner food but we were quite blown away by the quality of it. Firstly, the fries were the perfect thickness; not too thin or thick, and super crispy. The pork sandwich and brisket were superb. The crispy brisket was very smoky and had a strong intense flavour which went well with how crispy and a little fatty it was and the burger meet was super smoky and flavourful. Although could have more saucez Service was a bit slow at times but highly highly reccommend this place for a meaningful meal.
Jane A — Google review
Had lunch at Miss Lucy’s Kitchen in Saugerties and really enjoyed the overall experience. The atmosphere was cozy and charming, with a rustic touch that made it feel special. Service was top-notch—friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. We had the brisket sandwich and burger. We also tried a pink cocktail and ended with their pistachio dessert, which was beautifully presented. While the food was just okay for me (taking one star off for that), the vibe and service were easily 5 stars. It's definitely worth a visit for the ambiance and hospitality!
Zeeshan E — Google review
A nice restaurant for a nice dinner. The food was delicious and the drinks were good. The pasta was so creamy and tasty although it had an excessive amount of sausage in it. The cake was very delicious and not too sweet. The service was okay, the place was a little busy and waitresses seemed tired. One problem is the smell of cooking coming from the kitchen. it gets stuck to your clothes after leaving the place.
Wassim A — Google review
After a day of kayaking on the Hudson River four of us went to Miss Lucy’s Kitchen for dinner. We didn’t have a reservation on Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend so we had to wait 30 minutes for a table. We walked around Saugerties until our table was ready. It’s a small restaurant that’s been there for a long time. While Saugerties continues to change, Miss Lucy’s continues to stay the same serving delicious food with a nice atmosphere. While looking at the menu two of us had Blood Orange Margaritas and the other two had Spicy Passion Fruit Margaritas, with an order of P.E.I. Mussels; white wine, shallots, fennel, pernod, mint, splash of cream & crostini ($18). For dinner two of us had the House Smoked BBQ Ribs; three cheese mac & cheese and coleslaw ($26), my wife had the Bell & Evans Buttermilk Fried Chicken ($25) and our other friend had the Fresh Pappardelle Pasta; Meiller's sausage, tomato, cream, fennel & red pepper flakes ($26). Everything was delicious. The service was excellent. The menu has two prices for everything; one for cash and the other for credit card. It’s a 4% credit card fee. I personally don’t like restaurants doing that. Credit cards are just the price of doing business. If you are in Saugerties, Miss Lucy’s is a place you need to eat.
Bill L — Google review
We’ve come here several times with our family if 4 both during warmer months and during winter as well. The food is so good each and every time and service is always warm and welcoming.
V M — Google review
Nice cozy little restaurant for brunch, lunch, or dinner. You can get excellent salads, sandwiches and entrees here. If traveling through New York state we often stop in Saugerties and this a go to place to eat at. I have never had a meal here that I did not enjoy. Weekends can be busy.
Jeremy G — Google review
The food was good in general. Service seemed a little slower than if expect for the number of people in there dining. Drinks were good, servers were very polite.

Restaurant
The Dutch Ale House is a charming local hangout that has been serving the community since 1953. The tavern offers a cozy atmosphere and prides itself on offering 16 draft beers, with a focus on using local ingredients in their dishes. The menu features a mix of classic favorites and innovative creations, such as the sausage roll with toasted caraway kraut and IPA mustard. Visitors praise the old brick building's charm and the friendly staff who create a welcoming environment.
I was told that the Dutch has good food and good place of comfort. I was coming back from a hike down by Woodstock. I stopped there real quick to get a cold drink so I wind up meeting a nice young lady. Her name is Tatiana. Pleasant service. Great smile. I wind up getting some food to go, the pulled pork and the chicken wings. The food was superb. The coleslaw was out of this world, one of the best taste and coleslaws I tasted in a while. So anyhow, if you're in the area of Woodstock on main Street, check it out. I guarantee you'll love it
Lionel J — Google review
Objectively one of the best meals that I've ever had. Chicken fried steak, Dutch martini, peach pie, I was floored by the quality of this meal. Run, don't walk to the Dutch. Our server Cece was fantastic, great vibes !

A nice spot to have lunch/dinner before exploring the small town of Saugerties. With great atmosphere and friendly bartenders. The Bleu Burger had the best meat I’ve had in a while, the tofu and Eggplant were also scrumptiously good.

Enjoyed our visit. Service was excellent. Beer menu was pretty good for the area. Food was good, everything came out great except the salmon.
Chris A — Google review
Such a friendly quaint genuine vibe from the moment you walk in. Expansive menu, and e everything I had was fresh, well prepared, and nice portions. I had mostly veggie foods like hummus plate and salad. I was very impressed. We had the pleasure of being taken care of by Esme. She was so attentive, pleasant, and friendly. This restaurant earned every one of the 5 stars. I will be back to have a beer or two. Drink menu looked fabulous. Thanks all, and especially you Esme!
Steven H — Google review
I wish I could give the food a 3.5, but rating a 4 because this place wasn't bad, I just wished for a few tweaks. The main thing that was a bummer was the cornbread. It was tasty enough, but it was dry and refrigerator cold. I'd love for it to have been warmed. I ended up eating my portion by adding it in chunks to my "Dutch onion soup" which ended up being very tasty. The soup itself was good -- my first bite was very tasty, but I think bites without scallion were a bit less flavorful. The wings! The smoke on the chicken wing was sooo good they just needed more sauce. But really delicious and tender wings. We had 2 draft ciders we really liked. Overall was a good place for us to stop for a snack when we got into town. Very nice staff.
Lydia M — Google review
Amanda S our server was fantastic and so nice. With excellent customer service she gave great advice on the food and drinks. The schnitzel was amazing and dessert was too. They have a great selection of beer on draft. Great job all around! Their background music was also really nice not too loud but totally made the atmosphere.
Andrea D — Google review
Abby was our wait staff. She did fantastic - friendly, explained the dishes well, and was efficient and yet unobtrusive. And so kind to us The food was. fantastic. My wife and I are visiting here from Texas and had lunch here at the Dutch out doors with a long-term friend who lives in New York. We haven’t seen her for quite a while and so it was a very memorable lunch for us. I highly recommend this restaurant - Jim and Susan Clark from Abilene, Texas. And our dear friend Carol from Long Island.

New American restaurant
Rock Da Casbah in Saugerties is a popular restaurant known for its impeccable service and delicious dishes. The menu offers a variety of options, from perfectly cooked burgers to mouth-watering Asian wings. The short rib sandwich and freshly cut fries are particularly noteworthy. The gastropub has a groovy vibe with artwork and decor paying homage to classic rock legends, as well as furniture made from electric guitars. It also offers vegan-friendly options and sixteen beers on tap.
Stopped in for a beer while walking around town. What a beautiful place! Brick, lighting, a tin ceiling, friendly staff, and an extensive cocktail and beer menu. I had a local pumpkin ale that was good. I hope to be back before heading out of town.

Loved this place! We had wings and loaded fries as an app which were both great. We got chicken Alfredo and fried chicken for our main course which were also great- chicken was cooked very well. I had a mocktail which was awesome for someone who doesn’t drink anymore! And an amazing caramel cheesecake to top it off. On top of that all, one of the servers ran out with my disposable camera that I left behind (which pictures from our proposal on it) so 5 stars all around!!!

This restaurant is a hidden gem. The waitress was awesome. She was so friendly, and she immediately made you feel welcomed and at home. The soup was to die for, but nothing prepared me for the fried chicken. It was beyond anything I've ever had before. It was outrageously good. Crispy. Tasty. Everything anyone who loves homemade fried chicken could ever dream of. In a word, this place rocks. Be sure to go there for the music, food and the warm atmosphere.

Cafe
Stopped at Olsen & Company on the way to Hudson and couldn't be happier! Their sandwiches are straightforward but incredibly delicious. The cafe itself is charming, with a friendly owner and a wide variety of craft beers. It's a delightful spot that offers organic food options, including milk, yogurt, and cheese for sale. While you have to order at the cashier rather than at your table, the atmosphere exudes relaxation and positivity.
Lovely quaint cafe nested in the heart of Saugerties, NY. Outside seating (3 tables), dog friendly, exposed brick loft style cafe with excellent food offerings. I had eggs our way. Fresh greens, (no iceberg) nuts, pesto and balsamic dressings eggs sunny side up! Was so good I'm thinking a coming back for lunch later. Also the coffee is great which isn't always the case with cafes that have good food I've discovered. Ordered a flat white with oat milk. Love this place .. looking forward to my next visit.

I love Olsen and company for many reasons but the biggest one is the Itty Bitty breakfast sandwich. I prefer it with scrambled eggs but it’s good either way. It’s so simple but perfect. Their coffee is also very good. Try bitty plus a cortado is a must.

We found this place as a pit stop going to Kaaterskill Falls. I love the vibe and atmosphere of this place. They use fresh and organic ingredients. I ordered The Meat & Cheese, I chose the creamy burrata with prosciutto, mark’s kitchen pesto (they sell this too) & evoo served on ciabatta. I LOVED IT!! So speechless. My husband ordered The Lox this has smoked salmon in it, couldn’t find this on the menu anymore. I had a taste too and loved it! I also loved the latte I ordered. Will definitely be back if ever I’m in the area.

Made a pit stop here on the way to Hudson and we’re so glad we did! They have pretty basic sounding sandwiches, but they were really (really) good!! The place is super cute, the owner was sweet and of course the food we ate was on point. They also have a really great selection of craft beers.

Eclectic selection of cold beverages- non alcoholic plus beer and wine if you like. Had the Burrata with prosciutto and house-made pesto. Excellent burrata. The prosciutto was a little chewy. Dining partner had the Gruyere grilled cheese with ham and the peach tomato jam. Super tasty. Cool atmosphere. Very relaxing and laid back. We lucked out with this random choice while on vacation.

Ice cream shop
Nestled in a charming alleyway off Partition Street, Alleyway Ice Cream is a delightful walk-up window offering an array of unique and delectable flavors. From the zesty lemon curd to the unconventional sweet corn and monkey bread, there's something for every palate. Vegans can also indulge in cashew milk-based options like black sesame and salted caramel. The cozy outdoor seating area with twinkling lights provides a perfect setting to savor these artisanal treats.
The Belgian Chocolate is so good—not too sweet and not too salty. It tastes like real chocolate and sometimes if you’re lucky it’s a bit crunchy. The lemongrass ice cream is delicious, and vegan too! The Ube Heath Crunch Bar was also excellent—crunchy, with some chocolate.

Delicious homemade ice cream. You order through a small window in an alley way without all the bells and infinite options of other places. Simple limited flavors that are all made well. The flavors we tried were all tasty! Definitely recommended!

Some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had. Truly small batch, homemade, and very creative flavors. I tried the ovaltine brownie and Madagascar vanilla. My dad had the Belgian chocolate which was also excellent. If you’re visiting Saugerties, Alleyway is a must try.

They are closed for the season now, but if you have never gone, this is a must stop when they reopen in the warmer months. The flavors were great and not too sweet. The person at the window was very nice, friendly, and gave great recommendations.

This was recommended by a friend and it was amazing! It is a little tricky to find, but worth it! It is in an alleyway. The flavors were sooo creative and different. The server let us try a few flavors before purchase. The vegan dairy free Lemon Poppy was absolutely to die for! The Ube Heath Bar Crunch and Thai Tea cookies and cream were delicious. Just the right amount of ice cream for the price. Absolutely delicious! I highly recommend!
