Calvillo's Mexican Restaurant is a vibrant and spacious eatery known for its delicious Mexican cuisine. Visitors have praised the friendly and inviting atmosphere, reasonable prices, and excellent food. The restaurant offers a delectable dinner buffet featuring fresh fruits and vegetables. Guests have raved about the scrumptious sopapillas served with a variety of beverages, including cocktails expertly crafted by the bartender.
Great 2nd generation family owned restaurant. They have a buffet which looked good, but I chose to order off the menu. Fantastic shredded beef burrito that was tender and perfectly seasoned. Prices were reasonable and friendly staff. If you’re looking for good Mexican food, I definitely recommend it.

Food was decent, I wouldn’t say amazing, the staff was very attentive and great. I had the UFO enchiladas, rate 6/10. Husband had shredded beef chimichanga with green salsa, he says 7/10. Our child got grilled cheese and fruit, she ate it. Tres Leches cake was decent, not very sweet though like I was expecting.

Martin was amazing!! Was my first time stopping in here. Came with the family who lives in Alamosa. This place had a Mexican buffet! The owner Martin was amazing and very helpful. He continued to check on our table and even brought us sopapillas. I’ll definitely check it out again on my next visit in.

I've never been to Mexican buffet and I will from here again I'll bring my dad. The carne asada red sauce is just like my grandma's gave me Goosebumps if you want some really good authentic Mexican food is the place I give it 9 out of 10 stars only my grandma gets 10 out of 10 😄

We stopped in on our way south and were so glad we did. Everything was great. The Margaritas were made by the owner, who stopped by a couple of times to ask if everything was okay.. Both of our entrees were excellent and mine was a dish that I love but not many Mexican restaurants make, so I was surprised and happy to see it on the menu. And they made it perfectly.. For dessert we ordered the fried ice cream. It was huge, tasted great and included two house made churros, which were still warm and soft. The waiter was very helpful and personable and, as I said, the owner stopped by our table a couple of times to check on us and chat. Great place.

Hands down some of the best Mexican food I’ve had. The buffet was totally with it and the service was great with very polite and outgoing staff.

We drive through Alamosa several times a year to get to the Front Range. This place is always are go-to food spot. The buffet is our favorite buffet we have ever been to. So so good! And the service is always super friendly.

First time being at Cavillo's. Great buffet mid brunch selection as well as an assorted salad & fruit bar. Service was excellent for a great price. Loved the freshly handmade corn tortillas.

Brewpub
San Luis Valley Brewing Company is a laid-back brewpub in Alamosa, Colorado, offering housemade beers and a hearty comfort-food menu. It's situated in the scenic San Luis Valley with breathtaking views of the San Juan Mountains and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Visitors can enjoy a variety of specialty beers created on-site while indulging in delicious comfort food.
My hubby and I where camping nearby with our pups and wanted to check out town and grab lunch. We choose San Luis Valley Brewing Co. Initially because they have patio space and allow dogs. Our server Shanna was fantastic. She was super friendly and made great food recommendations. We needed up having burgers and fries. It was good. I liked the crisp and seasoning on the fries. I also enjoyed the music playing. I'm one of those folks who actually listens to and enjoys background music. They were playing the 80s.
Sydney J — Google review
The ambiance was nice and the server was attentive. The food was ok, nothing to write home about, but if you are looking for beer it's a decent place. They only had 3 of their own beers on tap which was slightly disappointing and their beers to go were more expensive than we've seen. Overall, decent, wouldn't go out of my way to go back.
Emily L — Google review
Stopped by for lunch also with our dog on a Thursday. No issue getting seated outside.. We really enjoyed the food—fish street tacos for me and a portobello wrap for my wife. Seating outside was nice with the dog (who did get water and treats) but definitely get some road noise. Overall an enjoyable lunch.

Amazing brewery! The food was delicious, great beer, and good service! They don't do flights, but you can do tasters for $2 per beer. The happy hour cheese sticks were good and four came with the order. The BBQ burger was super saucy and to die for, had a little kick to it too. If you need a place to eat, go here!
Derek C — Google review
Love the vibe here! UFO Burger is amazing. The art is also fantastic! Stop by if you can
Tammy S — Google review
We stopped here for a quick bite and some beers. Unfortunately beers were flat and flavor was not there. We ordered two different meals with chicken and it was as dry as paper in both. Service was okay but it felt like the person serving us was not trained well, so no blame on them personally. Place was pretty empty and we still had 1/3 of meal unfinished when server appeared with a bill to be paid. It felt like we were being pushed to move on.
Solvita U — Google review
Terrible service on a Tuesday evening with only a few tables occupied. Ruby said she was the manager. I had to flag her down multiple times to order food. They were out of hot wings!! A brewery out of hot wings is ridiculous. She did not offer any options, just walked away. Then I flagged her down again for the flat bread. No real description, complete lack of engagement. I ended up having a bowl of super salty french onion soup and a beer. Beer selection was not good as far as I know because Ruby did not offer any other options. Great atmosphere but if I visit this place again, I will request a different server.
Carol W — Google review
Sat at the bar and ordered the 3 IPA’s they had on draft. The black IPA was my favorite. I ordered the Lucille sausage pasta and it was awesome. Entrees only served after 5pm. Great flavor and sauce was nice and creamy. The Caesar salad was outstanding with nice wide pieces of Parmesan cheese and tasty dressing. I ordered fries just to try them and they were crispy and very well seasoned. Great place to eat and have a few local beers.

Tourist information center
The Alamosa Colorado Welcome Center serves as a valuable resource for RV rallymasters, providing them with maps and brochures multiple times. The staff at the center is exceptionally friendly and helpful. It also offers convenient charging options for Electric Vehicles such as CCS1 and Chademo, including Tesla cars equipped with a CCS1 adapter. Additionally, visitors can find an abundance of useful information in a pleasant environment, interact with interesting individuals, and take advantage of the well-maintained restroom facilities.
This old train station is such a great resource for information! It's mainly staffed with volunteers and they do an amazing job. I've had nothing but great experiences...
Nash S — Google review
Clean visitors center, good information, go and see the trains behind it. The staff can be more energetic. Bathrooms are clean, brochures are available for many activities. Options to sit and eat around it.
Marwan O — Google review
Really good to see the historic D&RG depot still in service.
Dustin S — Google review
Very quiet welcome center where you can grt information about the area. I wish there was a Colorado sign board to take a picture.
Mohit G — Google review
The lady running this welcome center the day I was there was unfriendly and not helpful at all, the only good thing here was the restroom. I inquired about what restaurants she would recommend and she went off non stop about Subway. Yeah I can eat at dozens of those at home but don't because they are not good. There were plenty of unique local restaurants within walking distance of this welcome center so I think she was doing the local community a great disservice. Also pretty sure I added comments to this review a year ago when I originally posted it but just got a response from owner today and saw my comments were gone, so re -entered today as it was kind of an unforgettable experience in an otherwise nice town near the dunes.
Lisa S — Google review
Attention people thinking about visiting Alamosa. Most of the locals don't like you if they never have seen you before. The police treat you like you are guilty until proven innocent. If you visit you are immediately under investigation. Do not visit Alamosa!! You will thank me for the advice!!
Bobby — Google review
Lots of brochures and the staff were very helpful.
Garry K — Google review
They were very helpful in this place and I had several questions which the lady gladly answered fully. She gave me some good insight to some things in town as well as answering a few of the questions I had. I've been in here before and is always been friendly people who are helpful and knowledgeable. And they have brochures and booklets and maps for other places in Colorado as well. Good plate to learn a little history or what's in Alamosa and San Luis valley as well.

Cole Park

Park
Cole Park, situated in Alamosa, Colorado, is a beloved riverside park that serves as an urban retreat for locals and visitors alike. Nestled at 5th Street and Hunt Avenue, this community hub offers a range of recreational facilities including playgrounds, walking trails, picnic spots, and expansive green spaces. The park's central location makes it an ideal destination for relaxation and outdoor activities. Additionally, the presence of amenities such as a dog park and skatepark adds to its appeal.
Stopped by because I was bored, but it definitely suited the peace and calm that I was looking for. Plenty of parking, dog park, small featured bike track, small featured skate park, playground, a great big field, and 3 big gazebos. Park path goes around the whole park. You can walk on the edge of the Grande Rio and it's very close to the center of town. If I wasn't injured, I'd be skating the skatepark. Great mini ramp to shred and multiple small ledges to progress on. Horseshoe pits but no horse shoe's so you've gotta bring your own just fyi.
James B — Google review
Lots of grass, lots of space, a track you can run on, a pedestrian bridge over the river. This park has a lot and that's not even mentioning the locomotive or the festivals that take place in it. It's one of my favorite parks and I grew up here. I do miss the artillery that used to be in the center of it, but you can't have everything.
Machelle W — Google review
Beautiful park with playground for kids. Lots of grass and walking paths by the river. It even has free Wi-Fi available and electric outlets for covered picnic area. Dogs on leashes are allowed. Grass area to throw Frisbee with dog. Very clean and police training area near skateboard Park. I've come here for years to enjoy picnics.

Such a fun park! There's a walking loop around the park so you can walk or jog on asphalt. There's a large grass area to play on. There are benches scattered around the park as well as kid activities around the walking loop. The park itself is fun and has an area for little kids and older kids.
Jessica S — Google review
This is not really a hike, but these walking paths along the Rio Grande offer scenic views of the river and local wildlife. I definitely want to go back next time I’m in town.

Medical Center
San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center is a remarkable facility that truly excels in patient care. Many families have shared their positive experiences, particularly highlighting the exceptional maternity services. With dedicated professionals like Dr. Gregg and compassionate nurses such as Harli and Andrea, new mothers feel supported throughout their journey. The hospital also provides outstanding emergency care; patients have noted how quickly the ER team responds to urgent situations, ensuring thorough evaluations and consultations with specialists when necessary.
Wonderful hospital - great place to give birth! This was my daughter's second time giving birth here. We absolutely love Dr Gregg and you couldn't ask for a better family practice doctor/obgyn. She does it all! Special shout out to nurses Harli and Andrea (Drey). Their extensive experience, professional knowledge, discernment, analytical ability, patient relations with new mothers and family - are just world class. The post-birth aftercare is exceptional. All the staff at the hospital are wonderful in every area though. The all night coffee bar in the cafeteria is a lifesaver lol.

If I could give a zero I would ! Grateful that a cna caught my mom having a stroke cause it sure wasn’t any of the other staff members and then doesn’t let the family know. This has to be one of the worst hospitals around if you have a loved one I recommend not bringing them to this hospital especially the 3rd floor trauma care. My mom sat in feces for 4 hours and if I didn’t say anything it would have been longer. This has happened 4x since I have been here and then the nurse is gonna get an attitude and was like well to make you happy we’re gonna do this like don’t do me any favors do your damn job. Why am I pointing out issues with her and no one is even catching it ?. The care is beyond horrible, the food is nasty there is no Communication and half the time they are clueless with nothing but excuses and no answers! They just don’t take the time or pay attention! They will talk about you to other staff members if you call them out, they don’t have the proper staff on duty so you end up waiting till the next day to get answers, they don’t listen I don’t know how many times I got asked the same questions one after another after another 🤦🏻‍♀️ Go Somewhere Else if you can they don’t care about the patients 👎 Dr wheat is very nice & knowledgeable / icu nurse Benito is awesome / nurse Ashley is nice/ the pt staff are all nice . There’s a few that should not be working here that are rude and lazy
Kim M — Google review
Worst hospital ever, I highly recommend not going there if you're taking yourself there or if you taking a loved one I wouldn't. Now if you if you're taking someone you don't like then take them but they are so unprofessional and the not the nicest people there I think the hospital needs to look into this situation every time that I took in my father-in-law there been nothing but rude and just all around rude. There was one nice nurse and I wish I knew her name so I could give her a shout out because she was very nice and very respectful and honestly probably the nicest nurse I've met. She will know who she is if she's seen this I think just a generally good person. So thank you and to everyone else if you can't be nice to the people that come in there and get a different job
SamIam — Google review
I've had my round of kids at this hospital being a mother and going back to watch my kid give birth now....hasn't changed... RUDE OB NURSING STAFF.....they talk to a person like if they are better and know it all.... There are better respectable ways to talk to and communicate with the patients and their families... But it's obvious there is no change at this hospital for the better. 🤮 Probably never will be either.
Jessica P — Google review
I was involved in a rollover and was taken to this hospital with a fractured C2. I want to thank forever the fine EMTs who stabilized me, Dr Brown I hope he's still there, and everyone at that hospital for saving my life. I could have expired and I thank God that hospital was there and those fine people. Thank you very much everyone.
Virginia — Google review
Just want to express the excellent care we recently experienced for my mother-in-law. From the janitor to surgeons we didn’t have one negative experience. On June 11, 2024 she underwent emergency surgery and had an 5 day hospital stay. Everyone treated us with care. The nurses who cared for her on 3rd floor even sent a card upon her release to go home. Thank you to all for your excellent care!!!
Stacey M — Google review
My experience on May 13, 2024, was very unprofessional and spiteful of the so-called "Triage Nurses". While my wife was checking in for some pain, the rude person in front named "Selena" asked how she could help us with an attitude in her voice, and let's not forget her rolling her eyes at us. The whole time trying to get us admitted, she was very ill-mannered towards my wife and would frequently turn to her other nurse and say something and they would both look at us and laugh. While sitting down after being admitted, I would also overhear her and the other nurse talking down about some of what they would call "locals". This elderly man was trying to get through the doors and to go upstairs and I noticed that she purposely did not press the button in their office to let him through. Instead, she stared at him and turned to her other nurses who were laughing because they would not let him through. They also were glued to their phones when no patients would come in. I don't understand how a healthcare professional can accurately help others when they are on their phone. We ended up staying overnight and while some members of my family were visiting, once getting up to the room they all complained and said that the front lady "Selena" and the other nurse with glasses and curly blonde hair were being really rude to them such as rolling her eyes and even raising her voice saying that they were not allowed upstairs because visiting hours were over. However, she was aware and present when all of my family came upstairs with us after being admitted. This hospital is honestly a joke when it comes to "Patient Care" and the responsibilities of a Health care professional in a setting like this. I will definitely be contacting some of the higher-ups about this situation.
Ronnie L — Google review
I recently spent 11 days in your ICU. Everyone was awesome on every shift from every department. The only issue I had was with the meals. They never got my diet right. But the nursing staff made sure I had something to eat. The staff in ICU & med/surg all work like a piece of well oiled machinery. Thank you to the staff for making me as comfortable as possible.

The Purple Pig Pizzeria & Pub in Alamosa, Colorado is a fantastic spot to sample the top-notch pizza offerings. This restaurant is renowned for its high-quality pizzas and fast food options. It also provides a variety of flavors to cater to diverse preferences. Originally known as The Purple Pig Pub, it was the oldest bar in town until its renovation in 2019, transforming it into The Purple Pig Pizzeria & Pub.
Rafael was our server-he has an amazing attitude and made our dining experience even more awesome. Your portions are big and so freaking yummy. If you leave there hungry, shame on you (or you might have a tape worm) lol! We will definitely be back!!

Looked for a place to eat as we were passing through town. Felt adventurous and tried the Porky Peach pizza. It has pulled pork, peaches, BBQ sauce etc. Was really good but the BBQ sauce adds a little too much sweetness. Would order again but ask for half their normal BBQ sauce or maybe on the side. Also tried the pepperoni pizza and it was great and the safe choice. Had family with us that know their pizza and they were extremely happy with the pepperoni pizza. Service was great and with a smile. No complaints.

We got pizza here for dinner one night while visiting the great sand dunes national park. It’s very spacious and has indoor and outdoor seating. Our server was very friendly. We got an IPA and a half and half margarita and the hog 12 inch pizza. It was delicious. Would recommend stopping here while in the vicinity.
Raina O — Google review
The restaurant has a really nice layout and atmosphere with really nice staff. The brick oven pizza was really good and fills you. We didn't get dessert, but all options look really good, especially the cannoli and root beer float!
Aarush D — Google review
Went here for lunch today and was disappointed. I had the meatball sub and a side salad and my husband had the bbq chicken pizza. Both tasted good, but the sub was tiny with three tiny meatballs in it. There was definitely more sauce in the sub than anything else. Pretty disappointing. My husband wasn’t impressed by their pizza either. I would pass on this place. The cost isn’t worth the quality or quantity you get. The bathroom was also a mess with no toilet paper in a stall.

We were just passing through town and initially stopped at Mom and Pop’s Hideaway, after horrible customer service there we decided to try The Purple Pig Pizzeria and we’re so glad we did. Service was top notch, food was delicious, and the atmosphere was so laid back. We will definitely drive 4 hours just to eat here again!!! I recommend The Porky Peach pizza and Blackberry Lemonade! 🤌🏻

The wonderful staff at the Holiday Inn in Alamosa recommended The Purple Pig Pizzeria and Pub for a place to eat lunch. The pub serves up an amazing Hawaiian pizza that perfectly blends sweet pineapple with savory ham atop a wood fired pizza crust. Tasted great. Their Grandpa Andy pasta was amazing and was an enormous serving paired with a couple pieces of bread. The green chile sauce was mild and tasing amazing topped with chicken. They had great outdoor seating at the pub’s and the warm atmosphere and friendly service was excellent.

The Mexican restaurant Mi Taquito offers authentic and delicious food at reasonable prices. The soft corn tortilla tacos with onions and cilantro garnish were highly enjoyed by customers, while the smothered chicken burrito was huge but would have been better if not left for too long before microwaving. Despite this, overall satisfaction was evident, and many plan to return in the future. The taco entree could benefit from an additional taco for its $9.
Have been craving good tacos for a few months and nothing was hitting till I got here. Super nice people working with delicious food. I will be going back on my way back out. My girlfriend said they were the best tacos she has had outside of SoCal.
Gavin C — Google review
Very basic Mexican restaurant with a wide variety of options - thought the tacos were good but not great, they do the job of feeding you. Chicharron tasted a bit stale so I’d skip that next time.
Rovik R — Google review
The Burritos lacked flavor. Not worth the price. Was not satisfying at all. The guacamole was smashed avocados with a hint of salt. I didn’t taste no lime or pico and it needed more salt. The chips were cold and stale and you barely get any salsa. Apparently we ordered the wrong thing and should have went with the street tacos. People seem to enjoy that. Curious if it has any flavor or If it’s bland too. The atmosphere was nice. Very clean restaurant.
HealWith D — Google review
BLUF, Really deserving of 4.5 stars. Nothing that will blow you away, but the food is solid. Service staffs are nice, great place to grab a quick bite. I got an horchata and the birria plate and they ended up being pretty solid. The horchata is fine. Maybe a bit too sweet and lacking some other flavors. It took a bit to get the birria out but that means they make things fresh ig. The birria was delicious, decent texture but really well seasoned and at a great spicy level. Wish it came with the consumme to dip with though, and I wish they give a bit more side of rice.
Simon Y — Google review
A true hidden gem! If you're searching for authentic, "real deal" burritos and tacos, this is your spot. You can watch them cook your food right in front of you, and the friendly staff always delivers. The atmosphere is genuine and adds to the experience, though it might not be for everyone. I've never had a bad meal here. A definite must-try!

Best food I've eaten in weeks. Seriously amazing flavors here. Incredible...
Zogador Z — Google review
The Al Pastor tacos are exceptional. I could eat them everyday. They were only $2 a taco which you can not find anywhere anymore. It was a bit annoying to have to go back up to the counter to request a drink refill (be it soda or water) as the staff were hard to track down and the drink dispenser was not accessible to customers.
Caroline Z — Google review
The meats were all on a hot pan tray not covered, who knows how long they'd been there. We visited about 2pm and the meats were caked and dried on the side like they been there for the whole day. no gloves were used and the "americano" fried shell was literally a shell from the box... not a fried corn tortilla fresh like they said, definitely not authentic. My husba ds was dripping with oil and the ground beef looks grey. I will not be returning. The little lady that took our order was very nice though

She was super friendly! The food was so quick to come out and tasted so hot and fresh. The fried pickles and chips & guacamole were awesome! The vodka was super smooth and the strawberry margarita tasted amazing!!! The food was delicious!! The tables side salad tasted very fresh!! The Cajun Steak and shrimp were to die for! My boyfriend enjoyed his tacos very much!!! The chocolate cake for dessert was delicious! Great service, great drinks, great food!!! Just an awesome experience!!!

Popular place. Service started poorly but they redeemed themselves and took care of me. I got the diner burger smothered in queso and it was delicious. Little bit pricy, but super filling. The joint is hoppin' and lively. Glad I stopped.

Reservations - none, but you can put your name on a wait list and leave your number. They call when your table is ready. Very friendly hosts. Parking - can be difficult to find if busy. It’s a typical downtown area parking situation, some spots in front of the restaurant. Service - nice and friendly but a little slow when they’re busy. We ordered a beer that didn’t show up to the table until after we got our food, about 20+ minutes since we ordered - we thought they forgot about it but it came out way too late. They apologized for the delay and gave us a to-go cup to take it home. Food - French dip - the bread was so-so, didn’t taste very fresh. Would skip this next time. Overall rating 2.5/5. Diner burger - huge, a lot of food, could definitely split it with someone and get an extra side of fries. Pretty tasty, would get it again. Overall rating 4/5.

The German Chocolate Cheesecake is amazing, you will not be disappointed. Perfect marriage of a German Chocolate cake and Cheesecake. I stop by here a few times a year when I am in town and the food, the service and yes the Cheesecake is always excellent. Thank you again. Keep up the great work you all always do. I’ll be back again the next time I am in town.

We ate here while staying in the area and we found it the day before we left. We were so sad that we couldn't eat here more!! The burger was great and the people were even better. Every single person checked on us and made sure we had everything we needed. If you are in the area, eat here. It is well worth your time and money and your stomach will thank you!

You must not miss this place! ! The restaurant and the staff, starting with the owner, are all so authentic! You can tell how they support and respect one another in the whole operation. They are totally unpretentious, yet excellent in what they do: greet, cook, serve, and give you a very fair price from their extensive menu and delicious food. From the moment we walked in the door tonight, it felt so joyful and welcoming. We are SO lucky to have found it. Thank you, all!!!

Fast food restaurant
Arby's is a popular fast-food chain renowned for its savory roast beef and diverse selection of hot and cold sandwiches, alongside their delectable fries and shakes. The chocolate mint shake is incredibly delightful, while the fish sandwich proves to be equally scrumptious. Accompanying these mouthwatering options are their piping-hot curly fries that never fail to impress. Gratitude goes out to the hardworking employees who consistently provide exceptional service.
One thing I can say about this fast food chain is you always get your food in less than 10 minutes 99% of the time. I had a Greek Gyro combo with crinkle cut fries and it was really good. The fries are always filled up instead of half bags like BK and McDonald's. Staff is always courteous and friendly.

We came in for dinner and April was so kind and conscientious of my food allergy. Im allergic to tomatoes and so many places dismiss this allergy. April alerted staff and they took it seriously. They changed their gloves and used a new knife to avoid cross contamination as well as made sure my sandwhich stayed on its wrapper. I can't tell you how much peace of mind this gave to me. Thank you so much to everyone who we interacted with, you were great! We will definitely be coming back because I know I won't worry about getting sick.

Sports Complexes
Splashland LLC is a geothermal outdoor swimming pool located just outside of town, offering family-friendly fun since 1955. The facility features three water slides, including options for both older and younger kids, as well as a diving board and lap lanes. Visitors can also enjoy the convenience of a concession stand on-site. The large hot springs pool provides ample space for swimming and playing, with cabanas and open areas for relaxation. Additionally, clean locker rooms with showers and changing stations are available.
Amazing hot springs pool at Splashland! Clean and well maintained. Huge pool! Perfect for families and and anyone looking for fun- a diving board, two super fast slides plus another smaller slide. Water is easily 95 degrees F and it is perfect for playing and staying warm no matter the weather outside! This is a fantastic value, too!! Our whole family of 4 got in for $15 for an evening special, and full priced tickets are less than $15 for adults and $7 for kids (compare that to over $50 per adult for other hot springs pools. It wasn’t crowded and had nice huge locker rooms, concession stand for food, water toys to purchase, and more. Just a note to the owner- please replace the old dilapidated sign out front. It makes it appear like the rest of the facility is worn out which it is NOT! I think you’ll attract a lot more business :) this pool was awesome, and my kid said it was the best day ever!

I had a friend who had a stroke and needed help getting dressed and getting into the pool the staff was so nice and kind clearing the changing so I could assist him. They were very caring and assistant I really appreciate them going out of their way to assist us. Thank you so much.

If you want to have a hot pretzel, you may want extra strong teeth. The one we ordered today was microwaved too long and hard. After trying 2 bites, we took it back and asked the employee’s if we could have one softer. They said that was the best they could do. To the employee, in my experience with microwaves, if you subtract 5-20 second, the pretzel will be softer. We love the pool and would have loved to give 5 stars, but the employees attitude was poor. Thank you for understanding this helpful suggestion.
Matt M — Google review
Don't waste your time. The water was disgusting with all kinds of "debris" in it. Like a band-aid, blobs of hair, food, and who knows what else. The entire facility is outdated and run down. No food unless you want a frozen burrito or stale chips with some cold nasty cheese. The trash can was overflowing and no one was walking the pool area to check up on it. The fake grass by what should be considered tables, was beyond disgusting. Food and all kinds of other trash covered every bit of it. Doesn't look like anyone has ever cleaned it. The tables were a literal death trap and cut my mother's leg pretty good. Save your money and go somewhere else. Would never recommend this to anyone.
Hotel G — Google review
I think it is absolutely insane that I have to pay $5 each time I come here to “watch” my son take swimming lessons. I literally watch him for 30 minutes! I don’t even use the facility! The facility inside is so disgusting no one would want to us it! Honestly if this wasn’t the only pool near my hometown I wouldn’t even come. But again, I want my kid to learn how to swim- thanks for listening! 😂
Jj K — Google review
Large, kid-oriented hot springs pool. Has 3 water slides (2 large and a smaller one for the little kiddos). There are 5 or so cabanas with tables that line the pool and some open spaced areas to sit on astroturf. The pool was pretty crowded on a Monday at 3pm, but there is plenty of room to swim. Of course, there is a shallow end and deep end, which goes down to 10 ft. (diving board included). There are large and clean locker rooms with showers and changing stations. I appreciated that the indoor concession stand sells sno cones. A good experience!

Great place for Birthday parties! Amazing service! WILL BE BACK! kids loved it! Adults loved it 😅
Jamie O — Google review
We had a great time here. Big pool!! I would recommend bringing your own pool toys/accessories. The only reason I rated it 4 stars is because there was an incident that required everyone to get out of the pool and the staff did not communicate at all or even as to approximately how long everything was going to take. We would visit this place again.

Located in Alamosa, Colorado, the Rio Grande Farm Park is a dynamic community space that seamlessly integrates agriculture, education, and recreation. Situated along the Rio Grande River, this park offers an inviting setting for visitors to discover sustainable farming practices, engage in educational programs, and partake in events celebrating local agriculture and heritage. Originally established as a gathering place for learning about farming techniques and preserving green space, the park features a pedestrian bridge connecting it directly to downtown Alamosa.
Best park in Alamosa! Playground is really fantastic and recently renovated. It is surrounded by the farm and near the river. The Farmstand is not always open, so check for the hours. Their produce is fantastic! We love to picnic here plenty of shade and tables.

We are from outside the area and this was a great little park to stop at! Right outside of town, the zip line was fun, and shady spot for parents to sit at. The kids loved it and we were relaxed. Good bathrooms also. It seems like a community garden, which is very awesome and something we would support if we were in the area.

This is a nice place to have a picnic and let the kids play. Not too far from the sand dunes so after visiting there we came here for a picnic and my kids had so much fun.

The thing that would have made this fun place nicer would have been a little more shade nearer the play area and/or some covered benches (additional places to sit and enjoy the park) while watching kids.

Cattails Golf Course, situated on the northern edge of Alamosa alongside the Rio Grande River, provides golfers with an idyllic setting featuring clear skies and well-maintained links-style course offering stunning mountain views. Lined with majestic cottonwoods and natural wetlands filled with cattails, this course offers a serene escape for a relaxing round of golf. The par 71 course boasts 18 holes, a driving range, professional lessons, and a golf shop for equipment rentals.
This is a gem of a golf course in Southern Colorado. This is a very fun course, though not very difficult does offer character. There is lots of tree lined holes that can really eat a bad slice. Lots of water hazards and swamps. The fairways and greens are very well tended too. The views in the woods and of the mountains are the real crowning jewels here. There is always a lot of wildlife to spot and enjoy. The staff is always on top of their game and make for a good time here!

Boyd Park, a charming and compact green space situated in the heart of the city, offers an ideal spot for relaxation and refreshment. This delightful park boasts an attractive playground, basketball courts, and even provides wheelchair access. Although the public restroom was unfortunately closed during my visit, Boyd Park compensates by inviting pickleball enthusiasts to partake in this rapidly growing sport every Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday mornings.
Nice little park we stopped in on our way through the city, to stretch our legs and eat lunch. Had a nice-looking playground, basketball courts, and appeared to be wheelchair accessible. Had a public bathroom but it was locked.

This is a fairly nice small park with nice big trees for shade, nice covered picnic tables, and a nice little play area and is right across from a local preschool. However, it is in a not so great part of town. I have seen partying teens in the bathroom doing drugs, and other overall suspicious behavior and people, as well as quite a bit of leftover party trash such as beer cans. It's not a bad park really, just be mindful of your children when playing here
Leticia L — Google review
As a small park in a small town, this park, Boyd Park, is leaning towards exceptional. There are a few reasons I say that: (not in any particular order) Boyd Park is an easy access park, in an easily accessible part of town, you'll find it to be very clean and kept very clean by the local Alamosa maintenance crews, there is a playground for the wee small children, basketball courts and tennis courts for the bigger children, an extra large groomed field for the furry children, and shady trees for the grown-up children. But in my opinion, here's the best feature of all: Boyd Park feels like a Very Safe Park; because Boyd Park is a Very Safe Park. You'll see...lol Thank You for Reading

Wize Apples is a cozy spot with a dive bar vibe, offering a variety of food and drink options. The menu has something for everyone, from BBQ wings to green chili chicken Philly sandwiches. Despite some minor hiccups like undercooked food, patrons express their eagerness to return and try more items on the menu.
This is a sweet little spot, and right on the main drag. The service was great, and I didn't wait more than a minute for a refill on my drink. We stubled apone this little Café by accident, when we searched for a breakfast spot in Alamosa and we (a group of 6) loved it. The coffee was amazing and the mugs big. Starbucks, a popular coffeehouse chain based in Seattle, is renowned for its distinct roasts, light snacks, and availability of WiFi. The welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff create an enjoyable experience for customers. It has become a go-to destination for many due to its provision of free internet access while job hunting, which is often denied by other establishments. Although the library also offers WiFi, food consumption is prohibited there. Additionally, Starbucks offers delectable sandwiches that are well worth trying.
Excellent service and great environment! Disappointed the Irish Cream Cold Brew is already out but can always fall back to my Carmel Macchiato either Iced or Hot. Just excellent

I didn’t specifically go to Starbucks. I went to city market and walked right by Starbucks out the door. I do sometimes get a coffee there just a regular black coffee. Nothing special think it’s $3.50. They have all these signs up so the workers stay behind the signs so you can’t see their face. It’s not very friendly. It’s really weird actually. Not my favorite.

My pumpkin spice coffee was amazing and the service is nice. The thing that was pleasantly surprising is that they accept gift cards at this location, despite it being located inside a grocery store. My only minor complaints are that they spelled my name wrong and I accidentally picked up somebody else’s drink, because they didn’t call anybody over, but those things aren’t a very big deal.

4th Street Grille in Alamosa is a popular dining spot for families this summer. The Boba Teas and frosted lemonades are addicting, while the burgers offer a variety of tasty options. The unique pork shank wings are also worth trying. However, some customers found the prices for certain drinks to be steep, with Boba Teas costing $7 and adding frosted lemonade increasing the price to $10.
I dined relatively early on a weekday evening, and for awhile I was the only person in the dining room. The food was really good, I had the standard burger but with the local beef upgrade it was well cooked and very flavourful. The side salad was good too.

I stopped here because of the great burger reviews, and it was worth it! Truly amazing burger, fries, and iced tea. Phenomenal gourmet thick bacon, high quality hamburger meat, and crisp very fresh tomatoes, onions, and pickles. Had the Alamosa Burger and I highly recommend it! I'll be back every time I go through this town, this is the place to eat!

We stopped in for milkshakes and margaritas. The kids all enjoyed it. They were awesome, I thought. The frozen margarita was delicious. We also had to try their mystic dough, or whatever it's called, it was amazing. The brown sugar butter was warm and sweet. It was enjoyed by all. It's worth the stop if you are in the area. I highly recommend if you are in the area.

One of the best burger joints I have ever been to - ever. Service - I hope the owners read this because the woman working the counter and dining room on August 14th was THE BEST server I have had, ever. She was busy - a whole bunch of tables in the dining room, plus she was running the counter and she was friendly, outgoing, great at selling the menu, and never appeared overwhelmed or stressed even though she had so much work to do. Simply amazing. Give her a bonus - as the face of your business she is doing an incredible job! Food - fantastic. Onion rings were off the charts delicious and perfectly cooked. I love they have a locally-raised, grass fed option and it's worth the extra $2 to support local farmers. Atmosphere - spotlessly clean and inviting. Other restaurant owners should visit the 4th Street Grille to see how it is done - this place is perfect in every regard. Highly recommend.

A great overall experience. You stopped in for lunch and a little lady order carnitas streetcorn tacos. Those were the fattest tacos we've ever eaten. The corn tortillas were fried perfectly and they were stuffed with a ton of stuff. If you're brave I suggest you order it. The boy ordered locavo burger and loved every bite all the way to the end. I got one of their famous shakes and it was a perfect shake. Service was perfect and the staff super cool. Definitely worth returning later in my trip.

The southwest salad bowl was simply a delight to the senses! It is full of fresh and healthy ingredients and very well-rounded nutrients from what I can tell. Despite being a healthier option, it was so delicious! 👌

Oh man, this place was a surprise! From the outside, it appears to be an old fuel station possibly. The food was off the hook amazing. Gotta try the Mystic Biscuits! They have a mix of food choice, and the service was great. Will be back next time I travel that way.

Regional airport
San Luis Valley Regional Airport, located just three miles northwest of Alamosa, Colorado, is a public airport owned by the San Luis Valley Regional Airport Authority. Covering 1,000 acres of land, the airport offers easy access and fast baggage retrieval upon arrival. With only one gate and TSA checkpoint, it provides a seamless travel experience with United Airlines being the sole commercial flight provider. Despite some airline-related issues, visitors appreciate the friendly and knowledgeable staff at this charming little airport.
Small and efficient airport with helpful luggage handlers. Flight departed on time. There was some pretty strong turbulence coming into denver but thats probably to be expected. Beautiful views
Road R — Google review
I'm giving it only one star... not because the airport staff was rude to me, but because the only flight they handle from Denver to Alamosa and from Alamosa to Denver... is always hours late. I'm going to miss my flight from Denver to Phoenix. The airline is Denver Air Connection. For anyone flying with them, keep in mind that you could miss your flight connections.
Esteban L — Google review
Easy 1 gate airport. Show up 45 minutes before flight. 2 flights to and from Denver a day. TSA Agents know me by name.
Nathan J — Google review
My 83-year -old mother had to fly to Denver alone and was terrified she would have trouble with her carry on and getting to her connecting flight. All of the people from ticketing to security were amazing and so kind. They arranged for a wheel chair in Denver plane side and helped shepherd her through security. The care and tenderness they showed my mother gives them 5 stars . Flight was on time , check in was easy, security was thorough but efficient, and the flight was smooth. Even the other passengers were jumping in to help her. Small town at its finest. It’s a small airport with only a few flights a day , so sometimes there are issues with connecting flights etc., but I am so happy this airport exists and have received wonderful treatment there.
Jill L — Google review
Easy airport to get in and out of. They offer only United Airlines commercial flights. The planes hold just 50 people. That makes getting through security a breeze. The waiting area and security area is just one large room.
Eric — Google review
Had the absolute worst experience at this airport with TSA... they inappropriately searched and touched my body just because I was wearing a hoodie????? They also searched my bag for no reason and provided no reason. Bunch of ppl who need to feel important and who think they are saving the world. Absolutely disgusted!!!!

Dropped my wife off at 2:00PM for a 3:30PM flight. The security was rude to her and patted her down for no reason. Then the flight continued to be delayed to the point she will miss her flight in Denver. No staff around to assist! Seems they can not handle one flight at a time. Won’t happen again, the four hour drive to Denver sounds a lot easier now!

Scenic Railroads
Embark on a journey through the pristine landscapes of Colorado with a ride on the Colorado Pacific Rio Grande Railroad. This scenic railroad offers an opportunity to explore untouched wilderness that has remained unchanged for centuries, providing a glimpse into the golden era of rail travel. Traverse breathtaking terrain, including majestic mountains, expansive valleys, and picturesque meadows. While freight trains operate at night, visitors can enjoy the captivating tourist railroad during the day.
A very wealthy guy bought this railroad out of bankruptcy, he owns a bunch of farms and farm companies nearby, and renovated this line to serve the local agricultural community. Dude has mad money. The new locomotives are cool, but there is a ton of heritage equipment all over the property. Old vista domes, streamlined passenger cars, classic diesels. Most of it can be seen from nearby public parks and parking lots. This line extends all the way to Creede. How cool would a passenger train to Creede be?
Nuclear E — Google review
I am not kidding when I say that these inconsiderate people leave their trains running in one place all night long. We have had sleepless night because they have trains making so much noise it is ridiculous. I wish I could find everyone here who thought this was a good idea so I play a collection of annoying sounds while they try to sleep. Have some consideration. It’s insane.
Angel G — Google review
Run their freight trains at night (unfortunately for us) but they have a scenic route and run a great tourist railroad.

Went in to get a drawing framed and matted. Went in early March, and was a super cool experience picking out my own custom framing and matting. Bit pricy but the quality of the frame was great. Matting was moderate. The reason why I give it 2 stars however is that I was quoted to get it on the 25th/26 of March. 2 weeks no biggie. Except that it wasn't done until APRIL 15. Over a month late! Everytime I went to check on the piece the gentleman told me he didn't even start working on it. CAUTION it takes a really long time and keep your reciept!! I'd probably wouldn't go back after all of this.

Historical landmark
D&RGW Locomotive 169, situated in Cole Park, Alamosa, Colorado, stands as a historic steam locomotive that serves as a tribute to the legacy of the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad. Meticulously restored, this engine offers visitors an immersive experience delving into the area's transportation history. The attraction features educational exhibits and picturesque spots for taking photos throughout the year.
Traveled in 2001 to ride another railroad and found the engine in a "lesser" state out in the open. Saw her house being built later and felt much better. Good to see her so beautifully maintained now!
Sparky — Google review
Drove from Colorado Springs just to see this engine as we love the T12 4-6-0 only to find it's no longer "open". The engine sits behind 2 fences that make taking pictures pretty useless. The lady in the library had no info as to why it wasn't open only for me to find on Google it was closed permanently. I'm not sure when this was updated because just a week or two ago I looked it up to see it was closed on Sundays. Anyways super sad to not even be able to get a decent picture of this piece of history.
Amanda T — Google review
Very well preserved engine and car, but the thing is surrounded by 2 layers of iron fencing. There's a clear ramp up to the display platform, but the gate is locked up and chained shut. They even still have the headlamp lit up. Shame, I would have really loved to get close to take pictures properly.

Coffee shop
Milagros Coffee House, which means "miracle" in Spanish, is a social enterprise by local charity La Puente. Housed in the former Emperius building, it reflects the architectural style of commercial buildings in Alamosa from the early 1900s. Established in 1998, this non-profit business is committed to serving the community and raising awareness of hunger and homelessness in the San Luis Valley.
A Unique Gem Among the Usual Stops Milagros Coffee Shop in Alamosa Colorado was a true highlight on our road trip from California to Denver, standing out in a sea of Starbucks stops. The café exudes charm and individuality, offering a welcome respite with its cozy ambiance and thoughtful menu. Our server, Shiva (or perhaps Chevonne?), was as divine as her name implies. She made sure my chai latte was perfect and went the extra mile to craft my husband’s butter coffee just right. Her attentiveness added a personal touch that elevated our experience & we had a really interesting chat to her about traveling and her suggestions for the rest of our drive. To top it off, 100% of the café’s net profits support local non-profits, making each cup of coffee feel even more meaningful. If you’re looking for great coffee, friendly service, and a place with heart, Milagros is a must-visit. Worth the stop!
Yanti A — Google review
Hyper local coffee shop that gives back to the community as well as providing a communal meeting place. Warm, welcoming staff serving a diverse selection of customers. Would definitely come back. Unfortunately I forgot to photograph my coffee or interior.

We stopped in for coffee and breakfast and left with much more. The food and coffee are delicious. The staff friendly and engaging. They have local merchandise and locally sourced baked goods. Their mission is impressive! We couldn’t help but pay it forward. See our pics for more. We are traveling across country and we try to stop at as many independent coffee shops as possible. This one will stay in our memories.

Great place to grab a bite and a cup of Joe. If you’re visiting the Great Dunes overnight, it’s worth the 30 minute drive :) They donate profits to help homelessness around the area!

Great Monday morning coffee (actually ask about the exotic lattes - I had the Black Forest!!) and breakfast burritos. See how scrumptious they are (photos attached). And if you need a quick gift for someone special they have you covered. Great vibe and dedicated to the community. Great job team Milagros!

Convenient coffee shop for a quick bite and hot drinks while you're on the road. Chinese restaurant
Ivan & Judy Thong are thrilled to bring their expertise in Chinese cuisine to Alamosa, Colorado. Ivan, with over two decades of experience as a former chef/manager at May-Wa, adds his skills to the restaurant. Lucky Bamboo offers a lunch special that provides great value for money. The portion sizes for dinner are comparable to other Chinese restaurants in town. The food is always made fresh and served hot. It is well-seasoned and has a delicious flavor profile.
A local resident recommended this restaurant and we were so glad we ate here. My husband got the cashew chicken and I got the sweet and sour pork. Each lunch entree comes with main course, egg roll, fried rice, fried cheese won ton, and choice of won ton soup , egg drop soup , or hot and sour soup. You can substitute an egg roll for the soup. Our meals were delicious!

Tasty, Fresh, and Full of Flavor!” I had a wonderful experience at Lucky Bamboo in Alamosa! The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. I ordered the garlic chicken and was impressed by the perfectly balanced sauce. The staff was kind and attentive, and the restaurant had a cozy, welcoming vibe. It’s a hidden gem in the San Luis Valley—definitely a spot I’ll return to. Great for a casual lunch or dinner with family and friends.

I've come in for lunch a couple times now. The food is always fantastic. That lemon chicken is so delicious. The service is friendly and prompt. Comfortable and clean atmosphere. One of the better restaurants in Alamosa and the portions are a good value for the price. Update: enjoyed dinner there twice in the last couple months. We always leave full and happy. Absolutely love this place.

This place is always good and packed. My go-to plate is the KungPao chicken. The LoMeins are always delicious with that smokey flavor. My daughters have the sesame chicken quite a bit. This is the best value in Alamosa, hands down. Get there early for lunch or expect a wait. Ivan and Judy are always super nice and appreciative.

Been eating here over the years. Especially the old location. Always good consistency in the food. Great in restaurant portions. I LOVE their egg drop soup and their sweet and sour as well. There isn't a bad item on the menu. Pick your heat. Family owned an operated. A bit more $$ then it used to be, but what isn't these days. Friendly staff. I love their food.
White G — Google review
I was visiting family and we went here. I was surprised at how delicious the food is. They give you a good amount, enough for a second meal. We got dumplings, egg rolls and these were out of this world. If you're in the area, check it out. Your stomach will be happy you did! Yummy!
Maria L — Google review
I have been here previously and the food was good. Not the best I ever had for Chinese food but decent. I had not eaten here in awhile and decided to order to go last night. Seriously, they have really gone downhill or I just caught them on a bad night. All of the food was so dry and overcooked that it was not edible. The rice was even super dry. Really surprised buying over $100 in food and most of it was super disappointing. I won’t go back. Not willing to spend that kind of money to throw it in the trash.

Pizza delivery
Pizza Hut is a well-liked establishment that offers delivery, take-out, and in-house dining options. This renowned chain is famous for its delectable pizzas, flavorful wings, and savory pasta dishes. Alongside these main courses, Pizza Hut also provides an assortment of side dishes and desserts to satisfy customers' cravings.
One of the best Pizza Huts in the area. First folks in so the buffet wasn’t completely out yet. Though the food that was, was absolutely delicious & hot. Staff was friendly & on top of things. Restaurant was pretty clean & well organized.
Tony M — Google review
First time we've been to this Pizza Hut since we've lived here over 5 years. We were greeted with a smile we had to seat ourselves. We had to order at the counter. But much to our chagrin the prices were not reflective of the menu. They were much higher. This caused us to be startled for a moment. The food was good the wings were great but we spent most of our conversation eating and talking about the price discrepancy. The cashier counter person did not know right off hand while there was a price discrepancy. She had to ask one of the cooks. Apparently they had not put out new menus yet. We did find out that the online ordering prices are correct. One other thing that I want to add is that when we got some boxes to take out our leftovers, they gave us small boxes that did not stay closed. There is indoor dining of course no one else was around. Apparently they do very well in the pizza delivery area. We will not be back to dine and maybe do a takeout later on when we get a coupon
Valerie D — Google review
Love Pizza Hut just not this one. The food was not made with customers in mind. This location does not match the quality of other locations. The service was just okay. They did get my order wrong twice and didn't go back the second time to get it fixed. However employees seem to be nice and understanding. The atmosphere is the draw of the line on this place it feels like walking into an abandoned building. The place is stuck in time but not in a good way.
Adrian J — Google review
Pizza wasn't cooked all the way. It was delivery and they don't use there own drivers therefore they couldn't fix it. When I called to tell them they told me that they had checked temp, I can assure you this falling apart pizza was not fully cooked. Need to check your temp tools, and work on customer service. I was nothing but polite and the person on the phone didn't seem to have a care in the world.

They only have 2 workers to sign up one stuff crust Pizza half and half extra for pepperoni 28.00 5 extra toppings 15.00 2 sodas 6.00. Easy math 28.00 plus 15.00 plus 6.00 equals 68.00 she was to busy to explain so after hubby gets back she asks me to leave because they don't have time to straighten bill.out. This Pizza hut has way to many customers so if you expect correct billing don't go there. As long as there staff is to busy to wait on customers and talk to them about the bill they will remain to busy to have more customers. Only 2 people to wait on 2 tables no take out or carry out. They can't take credit cards. How many employees does it take to wait on 2 tables get salads and wings out and a pizza an hour and a half. Shut up and pay almost twice menu price or get out. You've been warned DON'T GO!.

Ordered online and picked up. They have curbside or delivery. We ordered 3 pizzas, a meat pasta and garlic knots. It was all ok but we pay extra for pan pizza and it wasnt cooked enough it was soft and greasy. Normally it's more crispy and great but this was a sad pizza...not good. It's happened before and they say its cooked.

Mexican restaurant
El Super Taco is a hidden gem of a Mexican restaurant, with a hole-in-the-wall atmosphere that belies its excellent food. The menu offers a wide variety of tacos, including beef, pork, and chicken options that are all prepared fresh to order. Nancy, the staff member who served us, was both helpful and friendly, ensuring that the energy level remained high even as she trained another employee. The menudo soup had a delicious taste and the tripe was tenderly cooked.
Great place for a fast meal. Staff was super friendly, food came out fast and was very reasonably priced. So glad we just stumbled upon it.

The folks on the other reviews were telling the truth! This is a great place for a quick burrito or taco. I ordered the Machaca plate which came with scrambled eggs and a homemade large flour tortilla. Everything was amazing and there are numerous salsa choices from the salsa bar.

Awesome! Chimichanga was flavorful, the meat was juicy and fresh salsa. We got the 12 tortilla burrito to eat at home, it was amazing! I'm going back ASAP!

We have been regular customers and it's usually great. This time however our taco shells were over cooked, they were either too big or they didn't put very much in them We paid 20 bucks for 4 tacos and Small cup of rice. Disappointed. With the crazy prices we are paying it's hard to accept less.

One of the best Mexican food places I stop here all the time to get my favorite thing the chile relleno and a horchata. They have Serve Yourself salsa which is fire and flavorful.

The steak breakfast burrito is massive. Amazing value for money, delicious marinated perfectly cooked tender meat. Looking forward to passing through and visiting again sometime. Thank you, El Super!

Disappointed with the experience. The “one sauce per plate” policy was the least of the issues. The burritos were mostly tortilla with barely any filling, and the pork tasted old. For the price, I expected something at least edible—definitely not worth it. Bathroom was also super filthy. Not a good place at all

My daughter ordered 2 different tacos. As we were handed the order the kid says we don't have shredded chicken, so I used shredded beef instead. Ummm what the heck? Why not use grilled chicken. Or here's an idea ask first, we're standing right there. I don't think he would of said a thing, but we ate inside and he had to tell us. I got the super rolled tacos. They should be called taquitos because there was hardly any meat, just like a taquito. The food wasn't that great, I've had way better Taco shops everywhere else.
