Experience a unique wine tasting adventure at William Chris Vineyards, where the belief that the finest wines are grown, not made, is evident in every sip. Established in 2008, this winemaker focuses on producing exceptional Texas wines that reflect the distinct characteristics of the Texas AVAs, particularly the Texas Hill Country and Texas High Plains. The property boasts a stunning visitor center with contemporary tasting rooms and a patio cafe where weekend concerts add to the vibrant atmosphere.
Breathtaking views, beautiful architecture, wonderful experience! We had a party of 3 for the seated tasting. Our wine expert was Sherry and she was welcoming, cheerful and a great storyteller when talking about the wines and the history of the vineyard and its family.

We had a nice time hanging out at William Chris Vineyard. A beautiful view accentuated by an even more beautiful day in hill country. My wife and I enjoyed the "Chef's Table Experience" where we had the opportunity to learn "what the pallet does under different food situations." John did a great job with his humor and overall presentation of different wines and dishes from start to finish. Now, although we enjoyed a wonderful drive through the hill country from our hotel in Austin to the Vineyard and back, we would highly suggest lodging much closer. (You may get a little bit tipsy...or not)

I have been in the wine industry going on 10 years. Their wines are absolutely stunning. Their whites and reds will blow you away. We received top notch hospitality from Kaie. She was so knowledgeable and truly a joy to speak with. You can tell she really loves what she does. I highly recommend this vineyard and their team. I am simply in awe of our experience! 10/10 we will be back!

Just LOVE our time at William Chris Vineyards. Marco is so knowledgeable about all of the wines and the history of the vineyard, which completely elevates the experience. The grounds and wine are exceptional to boot! And, man… just look at that charcuterie board; I mean, really?!? Highly recommended!

Very nice atmosphere and energetic staff! We stopped by to check it out (1st time here) and was greeted with cheerful enthusiasm. We were taken on a short tour of the facility on the way to a shaded outdoor seating area. If you enjoy watching butterflies, there were hundreds of them flying around and getting nectar from flowers that were specific to draw them in. We are able to walk out into the vineyard and take pictures. Overall, a great experience even as a non-member.

This is a wonderful winery! Not simply because of the place, but the wines really are fantastic. We are from Cali, wine country. And we were skeptical on how good a wine from TX could be, simply because of Cali biasm, but making wine here, if you know grapes and the process, makes sense in this part of TX. And it shows in this Winery. We've been twice and and the state we had to move to, the state won't let us ship wine. So we had to just keep buying a ton of bottles and pack in a check-in. Heather helped us, she was FABULOUS. I'm not boujee but we genuinely enjoy good wine and the art behind it. We didn't want what was on the tasting list, we really only prefer reds. She was reasonable enough to allow us to try the other one we wanted to try. She was kind and made us feel good. Sometimes staff in wineries get uppity which makes me not want to drop a dime in them. At first we did meet a gentleman who was a bit snobby there, already killing our vibe. But when we were with Heather, lovely! We asked so many Questions that she brought over David to explain the Ports. He was awesome and then Mary added to the rest of the explanation. We wanted to be a member (no way to ship), Chris, the manager I believe, tried to make it happen. Couldn't. So we bought about 7 bottles and he very kindly gave us a member price, which honestly, that's good customer service that promotes loyalty in an industry that has become very competitive. We LOVE their Mouvedre, Hunter, La Pradera and their blend 2023 "Rose, Thorn, Seed"... AMAZING. Bought 2 each, Drank one on site with friends. Really honestly, they rival some heavy weights in Sonoma and Paso, Paso Robles is one of our favorite wine areas but, Williams Chris is exceptional. Ask for Heather! Talk to David and Mary about their Ports (we tried them and they were excellent) and if you need assistance, Chris. Thank you Chris for taking the time to talk to us, and show your hospitality towards our group. Thank you Heather for wanting me to buy more wine ♡

My partner and I had a wonderful time at Zero 815 Winery. The quality of their wine was exceptional, prompting us to purchase two bottles of their Zinfandel. We plan to return with our loved ones in the future. It is important to mention that their tasting room recently suffered a fire, but this did not affect our group as we were able to enjoy a tasting in their warehouse. We appreciated the owner's genuine nature and her delicious wine selection.
We found this winery a few months ago. They are in the early phases, but don't let that stop you. The name comes from the owners'- Laura and Karl's wedding date. Some of the wine names and choices come from his proposal to her on Mt. Vesuvius-knowing this actually makes you feel like part of the family as they pour! Friendly staff, great wines, delicious food. Nice patio area and live music on Saturday's. Bring a cigar, order a glass of wine and some lunch and sit down, relax, enjoy the atmosphere and wine and have a nice afternoon.

This place is amazing. It's a newer location, but has a great vibe. The atmosphere was fun and didn't seem like the normal "stuffy" feeling you sometimes get at centain wineries. The guy who did our tasting, Tyler, was fun and knowledgeable. After a few minutes the owner, Laura, came over and spent the rest of the tasting with us. We had a blast. It's been a long time since I've had this much fun at a winery. We also tasted some of the lamb capocolla......amazing! They had some live music on the patio and we moved outside. We enjoyed our last glass on the patio with the guy who poured our tasting and the owner. Great experience, and I will be back. I joined the club and you should too!

My Fiance' and I loved this winery. The wine was so good! We bought two bottles of their Zinfandel. We will definitely return with our friends and family. ONE THING TO NOTE is that recently their tasting room had burned down. So we had our tasting in the warehouse, which didn't bother any of us in the group at all after learning about what happened. I enjoyed the authenticity of the owner and her wine. Lisa, the owner, is an amazing person. Not many wineries out there where the owner will drink with you and pour you a glass. This is a local business that's worth supporting.

Super nice please to visit. Very hospitable and warm. Great views from the gliders. Enjoyed the wine so much we took a couple of bottles to go. Laura the host made us feel welcomed and at home in her vineyard. We’ll be back, to support her in her efforts to reopen the tasting room. Thank you, you know how to treat guests
Karl P — Google review
Wow! The sweetest woman ever! I didn’t feel pressured or like I needed to purchase extra. She allowed you to enjoy yourself. For all the dog moms out there, she was so kind to our dogs that haven’t been out since the beginning of Covid. The owner took the safety precautions she needed to. We enjoyed some wine on the patio and then took a bottle home. We will definitely return on our next visit.

I've visited most winery/vineyards in the Fredericksburg area but never this one until a few days ago. I stopped because it got great reviews. I was immediately surprised (not in a good way) by how everything looked but I was there for the wine so I decided to stay. I'm glad I did, as the wine was very good, and having a chance to talk with the owner, and understanding what happened, very much helped to explained why it looked the way it did. The wine will stand on it's own, until things can be rebuilt. I can honestly say that I will be back.

White House Winery & West Wing Brewery

Winery
Nestled in the heart of Texas, White House Winery & West Wing Brewery is a charming destination that promises an unforgettable experience for wine and beer enthusiasts alike. Visitors can indulge in delightful tastings, including a well-curated wine flight and a refreshing beer flight, both of which showcase the establishment's commitment to quality. The friendly owner adds a personal touch by sharing intriguing stories behind each selection, enhancing the overall ambiance.
A unique and personable experience in wine and beer with a splash of historical presidential trivia. You won’t get this anywhere else. Dog and kid friendly. Random brass candelabras and antique wine glasses scattered among the scenery of this farmhouse venue. Can’t wait to see Lewinsky’s cigar lounge / biergarten that’s in the works.

We had the best time at the new White House Winery! The Easter Egg Hunt was the perfect way for our family to relax—amazing wine and beer for the adults, and plenty of space for the kids to run around and enjoy the beautiful grounds. The winery was quaint, with friendly staff, lots of open space, outdoor lounge seating, and picnic tables if you prefer a more casual vibe. We even ordered a plate of pimento cheese—Mom’s favorite! Thank you, White House Winery, for hosting such a memorable Easter celebration!

The White House Winery has a relaxed environment with couches, music and wine! Great vibe outside to enjoy the fall weather and crisp wine offerings.David was a great host and super personable. Stop in and give them a try for something new in the wine country

I attended the White House soft opening on election day! The weather was lovely, which made it ideal for my tween aged sons to enjoy the large yard and grounds while I enjoyed a "presidential" glass of wine! Even if the weather hadn't been ideal, the interior is cozy and inviting with homey touches. I could also envision the outdoor space being excellent for events.

My husband and I went there today. We had the wine flight ($25) and the beer flight ($18) they did not disappoint! The owner was super friendly and told us the backstory with all the wine names. This place passes the vibe check. Super adorable. We will absolutely be coming back!

In the building formerly known as 'Hye Rum,' you can now experience wines with a presidential theme- they are named after "first dogs" and made by Joanna Wilczoch, formerly of Pedernales Cellars. If wine isn't your thing, enjoy Independence Brewing's Native Texan, Austin Amber, Twine Time, or Stash IPA, all made by Amy Cartwright. There is truly something for everyone here, and it's further away from the hustle and bustle (12 minutes, to be exact) of larger wineries so you'll enjoy some peace as well.

Hye Market Bistro & Eatery is without a doubt one of the top dining destinations in Texas, especially along the scenic Hwy 290 wine country route. The staff is welcoming and Matt, the chef, is truly exceptional. The menu offers an array of delectable sandwiches and burgers that are unparalleled in taste. Additionally, there is a wide selection of local wines and beers to complement your meal.
Stopped for some sandwiches and we were not disappointed. This historic general store turned post office and restaurant is historic and super Texan. The sandwiches were great and there was even options for vegetarians and vegans. Excellent hummus by the way. Well worth a visit!

This place was amazing and so glad we found it, when farm to table is the local gathering spot and offers so much from Historical post office inside market, to scratch made food with sourced vegetables from their own farm/garden. A beer selection straight out of Austin so not just Coors and Shiner served here. So glad we got to meet the owner Jason as he introduced himself while clearing our plates. What a story he shared about the building and his business. Can't wait to go back and do a day tour of Hye and Albert TX. Google Albert TX, well worth it.

Unique, Eclectic, Delicious and Convenient stop while traveling the Texas Wine country. Delicious food, dine in, to go, patio seating or sit in the old post office. Need beer to go, they have you covered. Pro Tip: Stop and say “Hye”, you won’t regret it.

Cute market that sells sandwiches, flatbreads and local wine, beers and ciders. Sandwiches are well made, flatbreads are tasty and staff friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help in decision making. On this visit the only disappointing thing was a soup billed as Oma & Opas soup. This was last chunks of turnip in hot water and the flavor could be best described as murky. But the really good cookies and blackberry ice cream made up for it!

Best little shop in Texas! Home made ice cream, craft beer, and good eats. Not to mention an historic post office attached to the market.

More than a winery—it’s a Hye-light of your Hill Country weekend!! Spent a lovely and restful weekend in Texas wine country, and one of the highlights was our visit to Hye Meadow Winery. Tucked away in charming Hye, TX, this winery was a pleasant surprise—both in quality and atmosphere. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Their friendly, upbeat energy and clear attention to detail elevated the entire experience. The service was personal without being overbearing, and it was clear the team really cares about creating a memorable visit. The wines? Spectacular. As a self-proclaimed red wine snob, I was impressed—the Aglianico stood out as a true gem, rich and well-balanced. Paired with one of their delicious flatbreads, it made for a perfect afternoon. Also really loved BOOM, Anglianico, Full Monte, and the Montepulciano. The food overall was thoughtful and beautifully paired with both their red and white selections. To top it all off, the setting is serene and beautifully landscaped, offering gorgeous views that invite you to linger and relax. It’s a place where time slows down, and you can really enjoy the moment. Owners Mike and Denise Batek go above and beyond to make the experience even more special. Their warmth and passion for what they do shines through in every part of the winery, and it’s clear that their personal touch is a big part of what makes Hye Meadow so exceptional. Highly recommend for anyone exploring the Hill Country wine scene—you’ll walk away refreshed, maybe even with a new favorite bottle in hand.

Highly recommend Hye Meadow! Great venue and facility, but more importantly all the wines here are top notch. Their reds are especially good and the staff is the best we’ve met over our many years coming to the Fredericksburg area wineries. Well behaved dogs & kids are welcome. Come check it out! Shout out to Justin & Tim in the members lounge who are especially amazing!

They took the time to share fascinating insights and recommendations that truly enhanced our tasting experience. Their genuine warmth and attentiveness made us feel right at home, and it was clear they truly care about making every guest's visit memorable. It’s rare to find such dedicated and personable staff. Jamie J — Google review
Welcome to Hye, Texas. This town has now become the next fast-growing destination of new wineries in the Texas Hill Country while keeping its local charm. Horn Winery is the latest addition to open here by owner Ryan Horn on his 16-acre estate. We were fortune to catch him on grand opening day on June 16th. Ryan is certainly no stranger to the industry. He operates Vintner’s Vault next door which has become a one stop shop for all things a winery would need…. except the customer. Having spent a good amount of time with the California wine industry, Ryan is well seasoned at this and shows a lot of promise at making quality Texas wines. The tasting room is filled with musical instruments and records on the walls to help accent the theme. The current wines available for tasting are from Paso Robles. Ryan currently has Texas wines aging in the back. The first Texas white should be ready in the next several months. The wine bar features eight wines available for tasting of which you can try six with a tasting. While enjoying your wine tasting at the bar, you get a clear view of the production area and tanks. For the grand opening, we were fortunate to taste all the wines on the current menu! The 2014 Verismo is a Chardonnay that is crisp with a slight buttery note. The Rosé is called Segue and you will note it has unique complex notes due to the oak it was aged in. It is 2014 blend of five varietals and is very refreshing for those hot summer months of Texas heat. The first red on the menu was the 2014 Crescendo. This Merlot has some dusty notes with a strong enticing nose. For the 2014 Rhapsody, it is a Petit Verdot that along with its deep color, delights your senses with cherries and strong tannins. The 2014 Duet is a 50/50 blend of Petit Syrah and Syrah that is pleasantly smooth with a touch of pepper and a light finish. Onward to the 2014 Melody, and you get to enjoy a Bordeaux style blend of one third each of Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine has light acids and a light body with a nice balance. The 2014 Aria is a Cabernet Sauvignon aged in Hungarian, American, AND French oak, so you will experience some intense black berry notes, yet a smooth and fine finish. Lastly, the 2006 Portamento is a Tawny Port. Made from Touriga Nacional, this bold dessert wine packs a bold mouthfeel and melds flavors of chocolate and raisins followed by pecan notes. If you enjoy their wines, then hang out for a little while to pause for a bit before you go into the Distillery. Yes, right within the facility in a separate room is their onsite Distillery and cocktail lounge that is for members only. They feature their own Grape and Apple Vodka, Apple Brandy, Rum, Moonshine, Bourbon, Tequlia, and more! They produce their own spirits and during their grand opening, guests were invited to stop in and visit their cocktail lounge. It offers something unique to other options on the 290-wine corridor and is worth a visit. Horn Winery has a great future and a theme going for it. The staff are all knowledgeable and make you feel very welcomed. Another great reason to stop in and say “Hi” in Hye!

French Connection Wines is a winery located in the Fredericksburg/Hye area, offering a unique French style of wine. Nestled in the Hill Country, the winery provides scenic views and a refreshing selection of wines that meet high standards. In addition to their wines, they also offer French-inspired charcuterie boards, snacks, and pastries like eclairs. Visitors have praised the elevated quality of both wines and accommodations in the area, comparing it favorably to California's offerings.
I really loved our quick visit out to French Connection! It has this amazing Texas-French fusion vibe in the atmosphere that is absolutely so enticing to me! We did not have time to schedule official tastings at all the places we wanted to visit and I was initially bummed that I had not been able to schedule a tasting here. We found we had a quick break in our schedule before our next tasting up the road at CALAIS, so we stopped in just to check it out. I'm so glad we did! We ended up sitting out on their beautiful patio with a glass of their signature white and it was a lovely way to take a break and enjoy their beautiful views. Wide open spaces all around, covered patios with plenty of shade and seating, wind chimes in the air.... Heaven!! We will definitely return out here soon and either do a tasting or eat a meal on the patio. The ladies in the shop were SOOOOO funny and sweet! It's worth the drive out to get to that peaceful view but also just to chat with them! PS - The wine was delicious, too!

The tastings are very informative and amply poured so you can make a good informed decision on the wine. The views are very pretty and charcuterie board was out of this world. We also really liked extra touch serving the cold water in the French wine bottles. Highly recommended checking this place out and their sister winery Calais, you will not be disappointed!

My recent visit to the French Connection Winery left me with a mix of impressions. The winery itself boasts a beautiful location, with its charming patio offering a serene and picturesque setting that is perfect for wine tasting. The ambiance here is undoubtedly one of its strongest points, providing a tranquil escape into the world of wines. The selection and quality of the wines on offer at French Connection are commendable. Each wine I tasted had its unique profile, showcasing a good range of what the winery has to offer. From robust reds to refreshing whites, the variety was sufficient to cater to different palates, making the wine tasting aspect of my visit quite enjoyable. However, my experience was somewhat tempered by the level of service. While not inadequate, the service lacked the personal touch that can elevate a winery visit from good to exceptional. In my previous visits to other wineries, I've been made to feel right at home, with staff members who are eager to share stories about their wines and vineyards. Unfortunately, I found this element missing at French Connection, which detracted from the overall experience. Additionally, the charcuterie board I ordered was somewhat disappointing. While it was presented nicely, the selection and quality of the meats and cheeses were just so-so, not quite living up to the standard set by the wines. For a winery of French Connection's caliber, I expected a bit more in terms of food pairing options to complement their wines. In conclusion, French Connection Winery is undoubtedly worth a visit for its beautiful setting and the quality of its wines. However, a few aspects, such as the level of service and the quality of the charcuterie, could use improvement to make the experience truly remarkable. I give it a solid 3 out of 5 stars, with hopes that my next visit will see these areas enhanced, matching the high standards of their wines.

Great patio, great server....came with a really nice charcuterie board and finished with macaroons. Only thing didn't know going in is 4 of 6 tastings were white. But very good.

This is a top tier winery producing some of the very best Texas has to offer. Benjamin and Victoria are incredibly hospitable and the grounds are fantastic. Well worth a visit!

French connection was a spectacular find. It was recommended to us by Andrea the sommelier at Bryan's at 290. The wines are exceptional especially the whites . The staff is friendly the views amazing and the charcuterie board is outstanding. Highly recommend checking them out if in the area.

French Connection offers fantastic whites and rosès, as well as outstanding red wines. The beautiful tasting room and relaxed vibe makes it the perfect spot to stop on any Hill Country wine tour.

The Whiskey Shack is an absolute gem that perfectly complements any tour in the area. With a menu featuring mouthwatering dishes like their prime rib sandwich and house-made potato chips, it’s a food lover's paradise. Don’t miss out on their incredible biscuits paired with honey bourbon butter, crafted by the talented chef Joseph who elevates the dining experience to new heights. The friendly staff, including Amy and Amy, are not only welcoming but also provide excellent recommendations for food, drinks, and souvenirs.
The Whiskey Shack was a perfect compliment to the Tour. The prime rib sandwich was legit, along with the house made potato chips. The old-fashioned and frozen Bourbon Dr. Pepper slush were amazing. Everyone we encountered was friendly, conversational, and provided sound recommendations; whether it was food, drinks, or souvenirs. Amy and Amy facilitated a great, super friendly, and informative tour. We will be back!

Bad food!! Was served a cold greasy sandwich. Nothing like what was presented on website. Brought my wife all the way out here for her first Texas BBQ experience, was embarrassed.

Hands down the best biscuits I’ve ever eaten and the honey bourbon butter is to die for. Joseph the chef is incredible. He adds a touch of class to the experience. If you’re passing by this is a must.
