Points of Interest & Landmarks
MOS Espa is an incredible stop near Nefta for Star Wars fans and desert explorers alike. Built for The Phantom Menace, the set still stands proudly amid the dunes — its weathered buildings blending perfectly with the Sahara’s golden tones. It’s quiet, cinematic, and feels like you’ve truly landed on Tatooine. Bring water, a hat, and your camera — the light here is unreal. For all my female travelers: there is a clean toilet but you pay a small amount.
Koel G — Google review
Visited as part of a couple of days in Tunisia tour, it looks amazing as you drive up to it. The movie set is largely still intact and with imagination is great.. but the main Street is lined on both sides with cheap market stalls, and some tourist props, there were a few interesting bits but not much. This could be awesome with some tidying up and thought - proper toilets, a cafe, put the market stalls inside the buildings !! it could be incredible, come on Tunisia take our money!!!
D P — Google review
It’s really cool to see the original movie set, but it is so overrun by local merchants, it’s very hard to get a picture of anything without stands of souvenirs. I worked the angles to get the photos I did. Lots of people everywhere. Also, the sets are crumbling away fast. It’s a shame they don’t take better care of it. If you’re looking for Star Wars locations and only have limited time, I’d skip this one.
Joey R — Google review
They were not lying when they said it was in a galaxy far far away! I love Star wars so enjoyed it but if you are not a fan you may be a little underwhelmed as there is not much here. 20 mins is more than enough to grab some photos.
Carl M — Google review
Amazing. !!! Absolute must. I was so excited. Travel by 4 x 4 over the desert, passing a mirage or two, ascending/descending vertiginous dunes, to arrive at (with John Williams music "Star Wars opening bars" )to view MOS EISLEY!!!!. Deserted after the first usage then re used and only due to fans of the "Universe far Far away" removing some sand and the second trilogy location rebuild ,and then the Government realising that this would be/maybe a tourist attraction Add-on to a small group Tunisia tour that (seriously) for me was a compelling reason to pay the extra. I am admitting folks. I am over 70 ,children 49 ,48 (First iteration of Star Wars ) and 30 ( 2nd Gen) I am a died in the wool fan of the cinematography, storyline, fairy tale, reality, good v bad (and those in between) The hustlers selling camel rides and cold drinks made this feel even more authentic (ignore them, they go away) I think that someone, some where , in a galaxy quite near Tunisia , realised that adults would want to visit the set of an imaginary space port , in the middle of a vast sand desert ,on an imaginary planet,
Musicians M — Google review
Excellent spot to explore, a lot of tourists frequent this place in the sahara. We rode quads around the movie set too. Souvenirs were fake unfortunately and the desert fenec fox species can be found captured by the locals offering photo ops for money. Still a place worth visiting if you are into star wars and the sahara...
Abdul M — Google review
Ong Jamal is completely free—no entrance fee or ticket required! It’s an incredible place, especially for Star Wars fans, as it’s one of the filming locations. Absolutely worth a visit! You can drive there, but be cautious if it’s windy, as sand can make the road slippery. However, it’s still accessible, and you can park nearby. There are plenty of locals selling souvenirs, and if you're interested, you can also ride a camel. Highly recommended
Meropi C — Google review
Deep in the desert lies the iconic set where scenes from Star Wars were filmed – Mos Espa. The atmosphere truly transports you to a galaxy far, far away. A unique experience for fans and curious travelers alike. Great photo opportunities and a fun walk through movie history!

Restaurant
Le Minaret Ferkous is a charming and welcoming restaurant in Tozeur, Tunisia. Despite not being overly crowded, it offers fast service and impressive local meals, with lamb dishes being particularly popular. The cozy design and decorations create a pleasant atmosphere, complemented by friendly service. Guests highly recommend the Shakhshoukha with chicken and praise the owner's English-speaking abilities for helping navigate the menu.
If you are looking to visit here I would strongly recommend making a reservation to avoid disappointment, I did not have one but I think I was lucky as I was early and on my own, whilst there I saw a few groups turned away as they did not have a reservation and the restaurant was fully booked from 19:00. The restaurant is a set menu style, and the owner will talk you through the choices of main meal with recommendations. The fried rolls and vegetable soup were excellent! Desert was homemade ice cream which was perfect after a hearty meal. For the main meal I had lamb with peas, and this was phenomenal, after the meal I drove for an hour to Gafsa and could still taste the flavours in my mouth which made me happy! There is nothing better than when you have a good meal and can still taste the flavours hours later! My only recommendations for improvement would be that I was not offered a drink whilst I was there, although this may have been a miscommunication as I don’t speak the local languages. If you are in Tozeur I would strongly recommend visiting this restaurant!
Daniel R — Google review
Amazing local food with exceptional service! Menu is preset, which was great for trying multiple dishes in one setting. We had the lamb couscous and the Chakchouka dish. Portions were big so we were able to take leftovers back to our hotel. Highly recommend when in Tozeur!
Frances G — Google review
Beautiful restaurant with authentic dishes in central Tozeur. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. Definitely recommend the Mloukhia. This is a great option if you are looking for a sit-down three course dinner. The menu offers lots of Tunisian classics - Mloukhia, Kamounia etc. Overall a wonderful meal.
Benedict K — Google review
Le Minaret Ferkous is a gem, excellent food, warm and attentive service and a beautiful atmosphere. Affordable regional cuisine served in a charming setting
Simone L — Google review
The homemade food you wish you had everyday. I had the chakhchoukha (Algerian dish revisited as a tunsian). The pasta were made from home from scratch. The chicken was perfectly cooked. And the whole dish was very generous. During our meal, the sun was slightly coming through the leaves of the tree warming up the wind, making it the perfect equilibrium. I cannot imagine how beautiful it would be at night !
MrKoloux — Google review
Insane. Had dinner with my family and the menu was superb. Amazing service, location and mood. The special chicken dish is a must! One of the best things I have ever eaten. Deserts were just mind blowing! If I ever come back to Tunisia I would come back to this city (which is also super incredibly beautiful and authentic) just to dine here.
Miguel P — Google review
We stoped here for lunch based on google rating, and it was all justified. We have been welcomed there and treated as friends. The food and drinks were very fine and good. I believe this was the best couscous I have ever tried. Thanks a lot for the experience

Absolutely amazing! We loved all of this experience, the food was delicious and authentic, one of the best couscous ever! The Menu with the salad and the Briks is so generous The owners are very friendly and made us feel like home Definitely recommended We will be back for sure

Really yummy food at decent price! We had couscous with fish, brik (fried egg in dough) and tried camel meat cooked inside a pottery jar. Service could be more friendly but overall a great restaurant to try!

GHOFRAN — Google review
My guest house owner recommended this one but it was a Very unpleasant experience. The food was plain ,no character at all but pricy, we were assigned to the small corner table when the whole restaurant has no other guest. The normal small salat comes with entry( when you order main dish) in any other Tunisian restaurant, here you have to pay 4.9. TND .The citronnade was chemical sweet and cost 6TND . The waitress even pretend that he doesn’t have to give us the change until I ask. we’ve travelled in whole Tunisia for 20days and this one could be the last choice — if we have to come again.
郭敬耘 — Google review
Very tasty food. Average meal ranges from 15-20 TND. Parking is easy and the bathroom is very clean. It’s a very popular place and does not have much seating especially for big groups. The waiter was nice but it felt like he was always standing around waiting for us to finish eating.

Dar Cherait Museum

Museum
Dar Cherait Museum, located in the heart of Tozeur, is a beautifully restored 17th-century palace that now serves as a museum showcasing traditional Tunisian costumes, art, and artifacts. Visitors can explore the intricate tile work, carved wooden doors, and elaborate courtyards while learning about the region's history and culture. The museum offers an excellent exhibition on Tunisia's history and features interactive experiences for kids based on 1001 nights stories.
Highly worth a visit to the History of Tunis exhibition, you will never be sure what's around the corner. Will be one of our most memorable museum experiences, in a funny crazy way.
Florence C — Google review
Very large and diverse museum in three sections. Not sure about the various religious exhibits as they are a bit simplistic but it’s a bit of fun if you suspend belief. But the first part on evolution would be great for kids as it has everything to trigger imagination. Worth a look especially for kids.
Ross D — Google review
Our Group Leader took us here after having spent the morning in the hotel pool, the afternoon in a 4 x 4 in a galaxy far, far, away .I may have been more appreciative had I visited in a more refreshed mood. The first part has dinosaurs! (Not real) and then one has a walk through rooms of exhibits showing the history of Tunisia. It is rather quirky, some exhibits are reproductions, some real .It did feel a little like walking through a time warp,1950 /60 's The last part ,the reproduction of the cave house, did look very good ,and worthwhile if one is not visiting Matamata to see the real ones. Exudes desire to share with visitors care, consideration, and love of Tunisia (in English ,French and Arabic.) Take the children. Who does not like a good dinosaur or two.
Musicians M — Google review
Exploring the enchanting Dar Cherait Museum, where history and art tell the stories of a vibrant past. ✨🏛️
Basit B — Google review
Interesting museum, feels like a corny immersive museum in the 80s must have been like. We did the Dar Zamen tour of Tunisian history, interesting to visit with a critical eye, as some parts of the exhibit display the national official narrative at times. Nothing seems inaccurate however. Many languages are supported, French, Arabic, Spanish, English, German and Italian. Kids will love it. Adults will learn a lot of stuff too !

Zoo
The Zoo of Sahara is a small but engaging zoo that offers hands-on experiences for kids, including reptile demonstrations where visitors can hold snakes and watch scorpions being handled. The zoo features a collection of Sahara species and is well-maintained with friendly staff. It consists of two parts: one for animals and another for the "Paradise garden" botanical garden, both accessible with a single entrance fee.
Beautiful Zoo and Botanical Gardens. The Staff are friendly and helpful and the animals seem well taken care of.
Seamus E — Google review
Loved it! Nice collection of species of the Sahara. The zoo is clean and well maintained and the staff very friendly and walked us around. It is a small zoo with 2 parts: one for the animals and one for the botanical garden "Paradise garden". Same entrance. Fee is 5 dinars. Definitely worth the visit.
Sahar B — Google review
A very small zoo with some kind of botanical garden in front of the main entrance. There were in total around animal 30 species, including lioness, hyena, a few desert fox species, wild boars (!), camel, few bird species and several reptile species. However, hygiene is not at a high level, and most mammals look like they are suffering from small and inappropriate space. Also, there is a "reptile show", where the "guide" will show you some lizards taken from the terrariums (varan and uromastix). But then they will also take out some sort of yellow scorpion and horned viper in front of you with a bare hand, without any protection and without any proper distance between him and the visitors. They are even joking when somebody asks – is this snake jumping? The reply is – no, tourists jump! Luckily, no one was hurt, although some young people in my group were pushing each other in the direction of the snake.
Kristijan L — Google review
The host was amazing and very funny. He showed us up close some of the most dangerous animals of the desert and we were able to take pictures with those. Animals looked well taken care of.

Tunisian restaurant
Restaurant Le Soleil is a hidden gem in Tozeur, offering authentic Tunisian cuisine at incredibly affordable prices. The quality of the dishes rivals that of more expensive establishments, with traditional meals crafted from fresh ingredients and served with care. A standout dish is the couscous berbere featuring tender camel meat, perfectly spiced to tantalize your taste buds. The lamb options are equally impressive; the gargoulette/a la jarre lamb boasts a rich tomato flavor and an inviting oven-baked aroma.
Cheap prices for great food, half the price of other restaurants but definitely same quality if not better. Their traditional dishes are made with care and good ingredients. Couscous berbère with camel is a must try, with nice spices and a delicious tender camel meat. The gargoulette/à la jarre lamb was tomatoey, rich and had good oven flavor. The boss is a very nice man, and we got a little melon with date syrup for dessert free of charge. Delicious! Go there if you're in Tozeur.

I give two stars because: -We need much time waiting really minimum 40 minutes waiting for the food. -the food was hot yes but so little you have a feel that you like 3 from the same orders for you feel good. -the tasty was normal acceptable. -in the beginning he speak we can drink beers or wine with the food but when we arrival we found only normal drinks he speak you need reservation or tell as before one day. -the workors not one time he come after giving us the food for asking if we need another thing or the food was nice or not just he gives the food and he go. -the design is nice looking traditional and clean. -what i pay really is not 1% compatible with what i become. -never i will be there again.

Stopped here for lunch with our small tour group. The highlight was my Dromedary in a jar (earthenware pot) and our son had Dromedary cous cous which was also superb and large portion.

Very tasty food and very friendly staff. We are the chicken in a jar and mixed grill. Everything is very tasty but portions are a small. It is a pitty because the rest is just perfect. We were hungry at the end. They offer a few small snacks while you are waiting for your food. Anyway I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Authentic Tunisian cuisine, friendly staff who could speak English, quick and nice staff We ordered three dishes: the grilled camel, the lamb in a jar and the lamb couscous. All of them worth a try!! I especially loved the lamb couscous!! Very tender and juicy meat!! The fruits and bread were on the house. Much appreciated!! The owner of the restaurant told us that there are much less tourists now compared with the pre-pandemic period. I feel sorry for them. We really hope things could become better in the coming years!! A must-go if you visit Tozeur!!! Highly recommended!!!

This is one of the more professional Restaurants in Tozeur. The manager welcomed us warmly giving a homely feel, yet paid great attention to the arrangement of our cutlery and serving order. The food was delicious, particularly the brika. The lamb in a jar was a great display, but I believe the chef was heavy handed with the rosemary. Prices are reasonable, and Premises very clean. Would definitely stop by again in my next visit to Tozeur.

Nestled just off the bustling Avenue Bourghiba, مطعم الجمهورية offers a delightful escape into the heart of Tunisian cuisine. While the ambiance is charming, with a beautiful interior and a cozy courtyard setting, some guests have noted that cleanliness could be improved. The menu features a concise selection of traditional dishes like couscous, fried rice with meat and sauce, roast chicken, and kefta served alongside fresh salad and crispy chips—all at reasonable prices.
It home made everything taste good and nice people. Definitely recommended. Try it

Baldek B — Google review
I wasn't going to write anything about this restaurant, but I feel compelled to do so after seeing how many obviously FAKE 5-star reviews that were added here over the past week. This is the first restaurant I visited in Tozeur, and I came based on the good reviews here. We ordered the chicken spaghetti and we found that the food was subpar. We've had wayy better chicken spaghetti elsewhere. We ordered tea and it came in the tiniest cup I've ever seen. (Mind you, it costs 4dt for a cup which is very expensive in Tunisia.) We were the only ones dining there, apart from another group of French tourists, so it definitely felt like a restaurant catered to tourists rather than locals. The bill came up to around 44dt, which, again, is considered expensive in Tunisia. Now, about those fake reviews: If you bother to check, this restaurant recently had an influx of 5-star reviews from people who ever only wrote 1 review in their life, which is a clear sign that these are fake reviews written to boost the restaurant's ratings. These fake reviews came after many genuine reviews that spoke of the restaurants overpriced nature and poor quality of food. I do NOT stand for business with such horrible ethics, so I suggest that you avoid this tourist trap and find somewhere else to eat. I repeat: Do NOT eat here!!

Scoop Café-Resto is a delightful gem in Tozeur, where simplicity meets culinary artistry. The dishes may appear straightforward, but the attention to detail in both presentation and flavor elevates them to a level reminiscent of fine dining. During my visit, I savored a Tunisian salad that stood out as one of the best I've encountered on my two-week journey through Tunisia.
Food was delicious! We ordered Gold plate. It was little too big portin for two. Probably silver plate is more suitable. They add rosewater in to the water glasses. That was unusual for us and we thaught that it was detergent so i complained but there was nothing to complain about🙂. It is actually good for your health! I definetly recommend Scoop Café-Resto!

Great place to eat in Tozeur if you are looking for value for money, tasty and inexpensive experience. The portions are big, the food is delicious (especially local street food, like makloub) and it is reasonably priced. I highly recommend this cafe it you do not mind a bit slower service and people smoking around you.

Even though the dishes are simple, they put effort into making it look and taste good.😋 Considering the price, it is a great deal. 🤝👍 We tried a Tunisian salad, crepe with cheese, tuna and ham, and tacos with ground meat. 🥗🫓🌮 The dishes were rich in taste and served like in an expensive restaurant. 🤌 The Tunisian salad was one of the most balanced and tasty variations I have tried during my entire 2-weeks Tunisian journey. So my hat's off to the Сhef! 🧑‍🍳👏

Day 2

South side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the south side side of town. Start the day off with Chak Wak Park, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to La Palmeraie de Touareg. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Chak Wak Park is a unique and surreal attraction in Tozeur, Tunisia. The park is a testament to the vision of the former mayor of Tozeur, featuring scattered 3D statues and old village replicas set amidst stunning natural surroundings. Visitors can explore the history of humanity through animatronics and narratives that showcase evolution from ancient times to the present day.
This was an amazing experience!!! The museum shows evolution from hundreds of millions of years ago until the present day. The animatronics and narratives are top class. The religious portion was also good, except some paper taped to the walls denigrating other religions. Still, they showed a lot of authentic material so give them credit. Definitely worth it!

The location and atmosphere are great. The service a bit less; for some reason it was not possible to serve the pasta in the kids menu with bolognese sauce, even though it was on the normal menu. The food was OK, but not great.

It is a beautiful museum with exhibitions on many different subjects, from symbols from different parts of the world to the evolution of the world until today.
Fatih C — Google review
It's been built for touristic aims. There's no historical value. It's totally artificial. But you can see the classical historical evaluation lie by fake and poor quality sculptures. However, it's a 3 star place to visit with family. Entrance is 10 TND.

Must see in Tozeur. Chak Wak is a traditional oasis garden in Tozeur, Tunisia, known for its lush vegetation, palm trees, and agricultural features. It's a serene and picturesque location where visitors can experience the beauty of oasis life in the desert region.

I’m disappointed with service quality and park condition! Please government or who ever responsible of the park to upgrade or at least take care of the park and avoid any damages! it’s shameful to have a such park visited by foreigners or even Tunisian citizen to enjoy the park! I would give zero star if I can...

Eden Palm is a delightful oasis nestled within the expansive date palm plantation of Tozeur, offering visitors an immersive experience into the world of palm cultivation. As you wander along the serene dirt tracks leading to this charming spot, you'll be greeted by knowledgeable guides who share fascinating insights about the significance of date palms in Tunisian history and culture. The journey begins with an informative exhibition that delves into the intricacies of palm tree cultivation before transitioning to a guided tour through the lush grove itself.
Interesting Museum displaying the incredible diverse range of date products as well as the way all parts of the date palm is used. Well set out & informative guide. Some dignitaries arrived as we left to be greeted by a band.

10/10 definitely a must experience!! The girl that works there was super helpful and nice! Entry ticket was only 6TND per person and she guided us through the garden explained everything, she presented very well in English and made our experience so memorable, we learned a lot and bought some of their products with really great and affordable price. This just made our trip to south tunisia way better and def is the highlight of our trip!! 🫶🏼

Cute educational palm museum located within the Palmeraie. We were one of the first ones there and took some photos in the building (and on the second floor which was gorgeous). For the actual tour, it was some pretty basic information about palm trees followed by a brief visit through the garden, and finally some tastings of the products made with dates. Their payment systems are a bit confusing, tickets have to be purchased with cash (like most things in Tunisia) but they do have certain products (like the date seed coffee) which you can pay for with card.
Alec L — Google review
We did not expect much but the visit turned out to be fun and informative! For 6 dinars the guide gives you a quick history of the palm oasis, how it is cultivated, etc. Then we got to try some syrup, jam and chocolate sauce made from dates (also available for purchase) - very yummy and make great gifts! The whole thing takes less than 45 minutes so it is a quick visit if you are looking to do something in Tozeur outside of the desert. There are also horse carriage right outside and you can ask them to take you for a stroll through the oasis for a small price!

I enjoyed spending some time at Eden Palm last week. It's close to Tozeur's medina. The museum entrance ticket includes a guide. It was quite interesting to learn about palms in history, religion, and date production, especially in Tunisia. It was also enjoyable to walk between the palm trees and admire the view. On our way out, we tried some of their date products (caramel, chocolate and jam), which are on display and reasonably priced. The museum also has a cafe.

The warm hospitality provided by Kamel, the attentive host, adds to the overall charm of this dining spot.
For lunch, we headed to this restaurant for a taste of authentic Tunisian cuisine and we advise you to do the same when you are in Tozeur 🧡 I would put my dish “Chakhchoukha poulet” among the tastiest of my life. At the end of the meal, we were surprised with an invitation to dessert. Day 3

Proximity is everything
For day 3, we bundled attractions like Medina of Tozeur and Central Market of Tozeur and other places within a close range, so that the time it takes to travel between all of them is less than one hour. Combined with the average time people spend there, your day should take about 8 hours.

Medina of Tozeur

Historical landmark
The Medina of Tozeur, also known as Ouled El Hadef, is a historical quarter in the Tozeur governorate with origins predating the Romans. The defensive walls and structures maintain their original brick facades adorned with unique designs like camels and birds' nests. Around 60 families reside in this compact and laid-back medina, where modern updates like electricity and indoor plumbing coexist with traditional architecture.
The Medina of Tozeur, is also called the district of old Ouled el Hadef, and it is one of the best preserved in Tunisia. It features impressive stone walls and the entrance is made from the traditional stone of the region namely briquette. We actually visited a brick works which makes these. We visited late in the afternoon when it was peaceful & quiet. We were mindful that the Medina is home to many people who live behind beautifully carved doors one of which is said to be the oldest and most beautiful doors in Tunisia. The Medina has many other features including a Koranic school and imposing minaret, as well as the house of the bey, a house is also used in some scenes of The English Patient.
Ross D — Google review
Walked around the central Tozeur area with group and Tour Leader ,so saw focus areas that one could miss. Notably the brickwork, as this is unique to this region. This is a medina to stroll around ,without being hassled ,as is a fairly residential area, and just chill. The covered market is mainly for locals to buy essentials ,a handful of coffee shops for tourists. This is primarily an oasis town, at the edge of a vast desert and is not geared up to rip off tourists who take the time and effort to travel there

Dar Saida Beya Tozeur - Guest House

Experience the heart of Tozeur with a stay at Dar Saida Beya Tozeur Guest House. This spa hotel offers a convenient location, placing you within walking distance of Ouled el-Hadef and Medina of Tozeur. Indulge in relaxation at the full-service spa or enjoy complimentary wireless internet access and concierge services. Treat yourself to massages or savor a meal at MilkyWay, or grab some snacks at the on-site coffee shop/cafe.
This is a charming small hotel. I completely recommend it. First, if you are considering this hotel, you should know that it is a small hotel-- maybe ten rooms and it centers on a small open courtyard. The rooms are either on that courtyard or off of two stairways that go up from the courtyard. Although the hotel has a reception and a small dining room/lounge with a fireplace, it does not have a big lobby, any hallways at all, or anything you would expect in a "normal" hotel. The hotel also has a very nice full terrace on the roof, with tables and chairs and some shade. I was almost alone in the hotel, so I found no guests there, but it would be a nice place to spend a group evening. It is not, however, a B&B. It has been purposefully built or renovated to be a hotel. The quality of construction, design, and decor is excellent. It is, above all, very tasteful. The room I had was quite large, with a sofa, a small fridge, a good bathroom, and a private terrace reached through glass doors. The hotel is located in the old part of central Tozeur, so, unlike many of the big hotels, you are not isolated. You can walk to the main modern and ancient areas of Tozeur very easily. Restaurants and small shops and tourist shops are all nearby. Very kind and helpful staff. I thought the breakfast was very good; they brought me far more than I wanted to eat. WiFi was fine. Room had AC, which was necessary when I was there. The price was the same as the big hotels that have none of Dar Saida Beya's charm and composure. Again, I cannot recommend this hotel more-- as long as you are looking for quality and comfort and not glitz and grandiose ambition.

We ended up here by accident! There was a problem with the hotel we had booked, and the owner arranged for us to stay here instead. It is a beautifully laid out, welcoming boutique hotel. The spacious rooms lead out into the interior courtyard, and it's unfortunate we were only staying the one night. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was wonderful, and as we were visiting during the tourist off-season, there was only a curious small bird to keep us company. :)

Tati A — Google review
From their website referring the superior room: “This spacious, air-conditioned suite features an LCD TV and a private bathroom with a shower or bath and free toiletries. There is a separate seating area with a sofa” Be aware that this is an intentionally wrong information to persuade the customer for booking the superior room (higher price that the regular room). We were in Chabbia room and it didn’t have a separate seating area, nor a sofa but 2 hard and uncomfortable wood chairs. I asked the person in the desk and he just gave me a poor explanation about every room being different but the truth is that I went for the superior room trusting the description in their website. In addiction, the quality of the mattress is very low and the bed sheets are from a rigid and thick material, making it not comfortable. The staff smokes in the lobby and there is a permanent unpleasant smell every time you walk in. The breakfast is varied although the pastry was too hard. As the pros, it is located in a central location and still is quiet at night. Not my first option if I ever come back to Tozeur.

Like a fairy tale in the middle of the medina An old typical traditional house turned into a guest house everything has remained of the old house plus all modern amenities... The rooms are something out of a fairy tale with arched wooden window sleeping under a domed roof. Everything is so beautiful. There are two pools surrounded by luxuriant vegetation. Plenty communal spaces to enjoy the sun or the shade... The staff and the service are without fault very friendly and professional. A few steps from the palm grove, in the heart of the medina of Tozeur, Dar Nejma, "the house of the stars", hides behind its high walls of blond brick. From the outside, nothing distinguishes it from other houses in the old town. Dar Nejma is designed and furnished in accordance with the local traditions of the city of Tozeur.

(Translated by Google) Very poor value for money! Excellent for going for a drink only because the hotel has a very pretty terrace, for the rest go your own way. The rooms are extremely dilapidated and deserve a complete renovation, sanitary facilities and taps to be replaced, very old carpets on the floor, sheets to separate the toilets from the room…. Swimming pool and pond only for frogs... All this for a price much higher than what you can find in Tozeur. (Original) Très mauvais rapport qualité prix! Small downside, it is sometimes complicated to enter the hotel because no one hears the bell and we do not have the keys to open the doors of the establishment ourselves… Be careful, the establishment is quite complicated to find, in fact you have to ring Dar Tozeur Establishment which allows you to get the keys. (Translated by Google) Despite a magnificent setting and a strategic location, this guesthouse is lousy! The host is mediocre; you only see her for the payment... more like prepayment! No welcome. Not to mention the rooms. The sheets are fairly clean, but the rooms are in urgent need of renovation (the water barely runs in the bathrooms). Unlike other Tunisian guesthouses (I've stayed in several), the host is unwelcoming and doesn't take any care of her guests. This house is nothing like a guesthouse except the house (a house, a bit dilapidated).

Tunisian restaurant
Essiguifa is a charming traditional coffee shop located in the heart of the old Medina of Tozeur. The cozy and artistically designed space offers a variety of freshly cooked local dishes, including Mlewi and traditional cocktails. The cafe's setup resembles an old house with a courtyard, providing options for indoor and outdoor seating. The friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere make it a great spot for a quick lunch or to enjoy some English music vibes.
One of our favourite places to eat in all Tunisia! The people working there are super friendly. We happened to arrive when they had live music scheduled so the atmosphere was great. Ate camel stew, bread in a refreshing tomato dipping sauce and apple and date juice.

The space is well decorated but unfortunately the service is the worst. Half hour waiting to serve me a Mojito. If you have time you can enjoy the waiting while listening to music and watching the fountain ⛲️ The Mojito was good 😊

We found the place after a walk in the medina. The guys over there were so welcoming and cheerful. I'd like to recommend two great dishes that I really enjoyed: the chakhchoukha is our biggest discovery of the day( is a typical Tozeur dish)and the couscous saafa. You can also ask for plat du jour you! 🤗I recommend vividly!!
Salma K — Google review
We found the restaurant closed. Then we called, and they opened. Probably they closed because at that time there are few clients, but then one should at least write it on the door. The food was ok, but the place was quite dirty. A lot of dust, and also the kitchen did not look very clean. I can just ignore the problem with dust, but cleanliness in the kitchen is important for avoiding health problems. The location would be quite nice, if only these problems were to be solved. Therefore my main suggestion is: pay more attention to hygienic norms!

Restaurant les Arcades is a wonderful place to enjoy a special dinner with its romantic ambiance and exquisite cuisine. It's highly recommended for visitors to Tozeur, offering a unique dining experience that stands out from the rest. The staff is super friendly, and the food is delicious, making it a real treat for anyone looking for good gastronomy. While it may not be cheap, the service and decor give off a semi-fancy Western European restaurant vibe.
Great place. I’d recommend the Chakchouka!

I had high hopes for this restaurant, but unfortunately, my experience fell far short of expectations. We started with a salad, but it looked old and unappealing—certainly not fresh. Despite our doubts, we decided to give the main courses a chance. Unfortunately, things only went downhill from there. One of the main dishes was served cold, and to make matters worse, it had a strange odor, as if it had been cooked days ago. The second dish was no better—the chicken was visibly undercooked, which is unacceptable. Overall, I would not recommend this place. The quality of the food needs serious improvement to justify a visit.

Indoor and outdoor options for seating. We sat in the courtyard with a few others and a relaxed ambience. The food was good, and our waiter was welcoming with a big smile and a bow tie. There were options for chicken, lamb, beef and camel. The clay pot added a bit of theatre to our meal and was delicious.

Out of all the places we visited in all of Tunisia, this was by far the worst. The chicken had zero flavour and the spaghetti was tasteless. The restaurant was empty when we were there and for the right reasons. Avoid this place

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Tozeur, Restaurant Tisouros is a delightful culinary gem that opened its doors in 2023. This charming eatery prides itself on supporting local farmers and women by sourcing fresh ingredients from the surrounding oasis. Diners rave about their standout dishes, such as the refreshing salad arbi made with crisp lettuces grown under palm trees and the flavorful saffa, a tomato-infused pearl couscous specialty.
Was recommended as the best restaurant in Tozeur by multiple people, and it delivered! So far probably our favourite restaurant after a week in Tunisia. Everything we ordered was super flavourful. They have a couscous with a pepper sauce which was amazing, and great lamb or camel in clay pot. But our favourite was the poulet aux olives, olive chicken, which had this awesome olive and cream sauce - amazing! They also had a really cool dessert, didn't seem to be on the menu, which was a mousse made with dates. Nice and light and a great way to finish the meal! Highly recommended if you're in Tozeur!

Tisouros is an absolute gem in Tozeur! Not only does this restaurant support the local community by sourcing fruits and vegetables from the oasis and working with local women for crafts and services, but it also serves outstanding food. We tried the Dromadaire à la gargoulette (camel stewed in a clay pot), saffa, and mloukhia (local vegetables with beef), and every dish was absolutely delicious. The ingredients fresh, and the flavors were rich. It’s the best food we’ve had in Tunisia so far! The prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality. If you’re in Tozeur, don’t miss the chance to dine here. Highly recommended!

The best restaurant in Tozeur. The owner is very kind and most of the ingredients he uses in preparing the dishes is from cooperative where he supports the local farmers and employees women. We need more people like him In this world. Now coming to the food. They have several options on the menu. Also for vegetarian lovers, it is the PLACE. The clay pot dish is the best and my favorite (for meat lovers- it comes with either chicken, Lamb or Camel meat). All in all delicious and flavorful food. I wouldn’t hesitate to say that it represents the taste of tunisia & tozeur.

The advertised waterfall itself does not meet expectations: the real highlight is the canyon it leads to. Follow the signs down from the parking lot, walk down the stairway between the restaurant and salesmen down into the river floor. After about 100m walking from the waterfall you should see the entrance into the canyons on the left.
J F — Google review
After hiking through several valleys and experiencing the harsh beauty of the region, vast rocky landscapes and deserts with no visible water sources, I stopped by Tamaghza. From the entrance, it’s about a 10-minute walk to reach the waterfall. You’re welcomed by the sound of flowing water, a refreshing breeze, and a truly peaceful atmosphere. It’s a place where you can really feel the miracle of nature and reflect on how this waterfall once served as a lifeline for the people living here. Highly recommended!
Mskingkong O — Google review
We visited it with a local guide, whom we met just in the parking near the oasis; his help cost us 25 TND per person.💸 He showed us a way through the oasis + a short hike via the gorge, which ended in a good restaurant. 😋 It's not the cheapest thing, and I think there is room for negotiation. Still, the deal is good for the price.
Aleksandr S — Google review
I loved the canyon so much. You can take a long walk on the bottom and it is just an amazing nature spot to explore. I can recommend. 🌄
Lina B — Google review
The place is beautiful and the walk to the canyon is picturesque and worth visiting. Unfortunately the expectation built up to visit a Grande Cascade was a let down. It would be a better experience going with no expectation for a large waterfall, enjoy the beauty of the canyon.

We didn't use the service of any local guide. Keep in mind that the road to the river is very narrow and two cars don't really fit side by side.

Located in Tozeur, Taxi Pizza is a pizzeria that aims to provide the best dining experience. The restaurant exudes a positive attitude and offers well-crafted dishes. The use of local ingredients such as Merguez adds an interesting twist to some of the pizzas. In addition to delicious pizza options, Taxi Pizza also offers non-alcoholic cocktails and other refreshing beverages.
I wanted a change from local Tunisian food, and in a far western town, I did not have high hopes. However this place surprised me, the pizza here is one of the best pizzas I have ever had, freshly baked and handmade. My only recommendation would be to add a dipping sauce as it was a slight bit dry for my personal preference. Well worth a visit, especially at 18TND!

You can say it from their attitude, place, and the dishes are talking for themselves. 💭 We visited them for two pizzas - one tuna and one quatro formagi. 🐟🧀 Both were nicely done, with thin dough, just the right amount of components on top, and baked perfectly. 👌So I am confident in recommending this place, especially considering their prices and cheerfulness of the staff. ✌️

4.7 for a pizza place is good so I thought I'd get good pizza. Well maybe they have a new pizza maker because the pie I received...well as the margarita it was advertised as basil and cherry tomato. The red is harissa that I added to give it some taste. Check out the picture. Precisely 1 small basil leaf and 1/2 cherry tomato-its laughable. The crust was not thin enough, or maybe needed to be prebaked little and came out doughy. Recommend to put dried herbs in your sauce, maybe a little dried garlic, it's all about layers of flavor. You can also put dried herbs in the dough, I do.

I ordered “Pizza Mexicaine” and it was overly cooked which I didn’t like, it just tasted burned and felt dry.. It would have been perfect if they didn’t overcook it because I really liked the topping!
