Picton in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Picton, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Picton is the main gateway to the scenic Marlborough Sounds, with its sheltered bays, forested hills and clear waters best explored by boat, kayak or water taxi. The town sits at the South Island end of the inter-island ferry route, making it a natural stop on many New Zealand itineraries. From here you can access the popular Queen Charlotte Track for coastal walking and cycling, as well as day cruises and wildlife tours. Picton also puts you within easy reach of the wider Marlborough region, known for its vineyards and Sauvignon Blanc.
With favorites like Tasman Holiday Parks - Picton, Cortado Restaurant & Bar, and Le Café, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Sisu Eatery and Bar and Toastie Lords - Picton so you can get the best taste of Picton while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Cortado Restaurant & Bar is a laid-back hangout located on the beautiful Picton waterfront, offering a diverse menu of breakfast eats, tacos, burgers, and seafood. The restaurant features a state-of-the-art kitchen and full bar area. With slightly South American infused menus created from fresh regional ingredients, patrons can enjoy a large selection of delicious New Zealand seafood and fabulous pizza. The establishment also offers a great kids menu and outdoor seating with harbor views where pets are welcome.
Uncleared table and lack of enthusiasm from the front of house girl made us hesitant to order but the owner came out to clean the table and helpfully suggested we use the app to order. That worked for half our table and the other half had to go in but all of us got our food and drinks in a reasonable time. Wait service was also friendly. Food was tasty and flavorful with nice presentation. Can recommend. I just had a salad and dessert. Others had a burger and a muffin.

Stunning location with views of the water, excellent service in every way (welcoming, friendly and professional), and outstanding food. I enjoyed the hot stone cooked tuna steak with delicious coleslaw and the best brussel sprouts ever. I'd definitely return. Totally recommend.

Prime spot in Picton, easy to find and close to the waterfront. Delicious tapas! Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The Tunafish on hot stone was a particular highlight.🥰 Despite being packed on a busy night, the staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommended!

Ate here tonight with family. Food was excellent. Hubby and I had the hot stone, mine was lamb and hubby had beef with prawns. Excellent.
Angelique H — Google review
This place allows well behaved dogs inside. They even have dog beer and biscuits and are given a bowl of water. How cool is that. Love how more and more places are allowing dogs inside. Very common practice in the UK. It's great to support these places if you have a fur baby and let the staff know its much appreciated. ❤️

Very busy when we arrived. We sat at an outside table and the staff said they’d send someone out to clean it within a few mins (still had dirty dishes from previous customers). Had to order at the bar. Sandwich was actually really good. Beer wasn’t bad either. I ended up cleaning the table for them and never had a waiter/waitress visit our table the entire time we were there.

Lovely vegan pizza and garlic bread. Staff present a tip jar at reception, refused my tip in year 2017 and $5 tip in year 2025 September. Constantly loud roadworks immediately outside of 150 meter area, have been ongoing everyday with 10 staff since year 2017. I watch them dig up and re-seal road, and vision impaired dots at crossing. 8 Years! Marlborough District Council (MDC) revenue is $200 million per year.

E-Ko Tours is known for its collaboration with regional conservation organizations, providing funding for projects and collecting crucial research data with guests. The company offers authentic marine wildlife and dolphin watching tours where visitors can observe dolphins, rare seabirds, penguins, seals, and whales in their natural habitat. Guests have shared positive experiences of encountering Hectors dolphins during the tour and swimming with wild dolphins.
Absolutely fabulous tour yesterday. The boat pilot, Dan, and guide, Bella, were so friendly and knowledgeable. We saw a couple fur seals, a rare Hector's Dolphin, too many Dusky dolphins to count, and a variety of seabirds. The view from the lookout at the top of Moturua Island was breathtaking! I highly recommend this tour to anyone hoping to see the beauty of the Queen Charlotte Sound.

Abby and Andy were amazing on our tour. We immediately felt welcomed on our awesome day tour. They have a wealth of knowledge to share as well as their genuine hospitality. In addition, ignore the weather forecasts. Ours was 100 percent rain today. God loves us all and wants to bless us. We had beautiful skies, perfect temperatures, and saw an abundance of wildlife. Glory to The Creator!
Mary D — Google review
We had a wonderful time with Dan, our captain, and Bella, our guide. It was Bella's first solo guiding trip and she was great - so knowledgeable about the marine life we were seeing. Dan made sure we got to the right spots and allowed us to linger to see dolphins, seals, many marine birds and even a blue penguin. The walk up Motuara island was challenging but definitely worth it for the views at the top. An excellent trip and really worth doing. Thank you E-Ko tours!
Catherine A — Google review
We had a great trip this morning to Motuara Island Sanctuary with Andy as skipper and Bella our guide. They both did a great job, were very knowledgeable and friendly. We saw a wide range of seabirds, a large pod of around 20 dolphins and many fur seals. We recommend E Ko tours as a very well run operation with great staff. The icing on the cake is their contribution to conservation work. From 2 North Island kiwis, Ross and Penny Garrick

An amazing Motuara Island Sanctuary and Dolphin Watching tour experience by E-Ko Tours -well worth the price paid, love love the experience of seeing dolphins, fur seals, rare birds even blue penguins up close. The crew ie Captain Andy, Captain Dan and Bella were very professional, warm and very kind - they made us feel like VVIPs on board the cruise and took very good care of us. We had hot coffee, tea and hot choclate with choc chip biscuits and local wine! I would highly recommend E-Ko Tours to anyone who happens to be in Picton, Malborough🥰

My husband and I went on an Eko tour today with Andy and Bella. It was a wonderful experience and we saw many dolphins, one blue penguin and several sea birds. Both of them were very knowledgeable and we really enjoyed talking to Andy about his Seamanship & knowledge of area and his spotting wildlife ability. We would recommend the wildlife and Motuara Island 4 hour tour.
Andi G — Google review
Had an amazing tour! Unfortunately, the dolphin swim we wanted to do got cancelled, but we did the wild life & dolphin viewing tour instead - and it was absolutely worth it! Abby was an amazing guide and Dan was a great captain. They gave us enough time and opportunities to see soooo many dolphins as well as some seals, penguins and different type of birds. 10/10 would definitely recommend!!

Very beautiful trip with dolphins, a blue penguin, seals, shags and other birds! Bella and Andy gave a lot of info! The boat was comfortable, even with our six months old baby.

Amazing day out in the sounds. Walked from Ship Cove to Furneaux Lodge. With this tour you get about 6h to complete this and you definitely need at least 5 to finish the 17km track. It's not challenging but still a fair bit of walking. Mostly you walk though native bush, the viewing points are outstanding.
Jannik — Google review
Absolutely amazing afternoon spent out on the boat. Great commentary from the skipper! We got to see dolphins as well as orca's. Seeing the whales was certainly unexpected! The boat was clean and comfy, with most time spent on the upstairs deck, but was warm and comfy down below when wanting to get out of the sun/wind for brief periods. 100% recommend!

My partner and I had an amazing time last weekend (08/02/25) on Beachcomber’s “Day in the Sounds at Furneaux Lodge” tour. We left at 9am on the Tiri Cat boat, and we couldn’t have asked for a better day trip! All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful, and our skipper was very knowledgeable and funny. The cruise itself was comfortable and smooth, and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. My partner and I also really enjoyed the brief stop at Ship Cove. We opted to do the 12.7km hike from Furneaux Lodge to Punga Cove, and we are so happy we did! The hike itself isn’t too challenging and you are given plenty of time to complete it at a reasonably relaxed pace. The views that you get as you walk along the Queen Charlotte Track are 100% worth it! The return boat was punctual picking us up from Punga Cove Resort and we arrived back to Picton on time. We would highly recommend Beachcomber Cruises and look forward to sailing with them again next time we’re in the Marlborough Sounds! 😊

A truly professional team and I cannot thank Greg and Donna enough for sorting out my mishap, and turning it into a great adventurous day. I missed my stop in the morning from Furrneaux Lodge to Punga Cove, and ended up back in Picton. But thankfully, Greg was doing the afternoon Mail Run and I got to jump on the tour, deliver mail, give biscuits to cute doggos, and learn all about the Queen Charlotte Sound. I love being on the water, and the weather was spectacular, so it was a great day cruising around, albeit I didn’t get back to Punga Cove until after 5pm to meet my hubby - on Valentine’s Day!! Thanks team, you are absolute professionals and I highly recommend anyone travelling to Picton that they book themselves on the Mail Run - 10 stars!!!
Vanessa C — Google review
Missed my Picton mail run because I was late, but staff switched to a different tour next day no charge so I was happy to fit a sound tour in. Weather wasn't cooperative on an overcast day, but I still enjoyed the outing, watching dramatic skies, moody misty hills, looking out for wildlife, and the commentary on the local area. Any time on the water is fine to me. I'll be back, I hope, for that mail run.
Carolken L — Google review
Fabulous! We loved this tour. Tour guides had so much knowledge & history of the area. Wildlife sightings were awesome. We even got a dolphin show (although not promised, we were lucky). The boat was excellent & very well run! Highly recommend!

Nestled in the charming town of Picton, Le Café is a delightful spot that combines great coffee with an inviting atmosphere. Known for its original espresso machine, this café offers all-day dining alongside stunning waterfront views and live music events. The menu highlights seasonal and local produce, featuring daily specials like Marlborough greenshell mussels or tagliatelle with paua and chili.
Le Café offers a spacious interior and a lovely outdoor seating area with views of the waterfront. I only had coffee, but the atmosphere was great, and the vibes were relaxing. A perfect spot to unwind! Good coffee also!
Wendy L — Google review
Had breakfast in Oct-25. Quite a restricted menu, and whilst my meal was very tasty, there were far too many garlic mushrooms - relative to the amount of egg, toast and spinach. The trainee serving us was very pleasant and smiley, but the woman training her was miserable and didn't crack a smile the entire time we were there. Her short, sharp answers were hardly rise and shine!
Adam B — Google review
A better view than the food. Green Mussels must be an acquired taste! Chewy, rubbery and too large. Almost impossible to swallow. I gave up and ordered their carrot cake which was OK.
Simon D — Google review
View from Le Cafe is epic, great food and they amended the menu for my variation of breakfast. Coffee was superb
Gavin M — Google review
Food was nice and was on the waterfront. Food came out pretty quickly well presented and the coffee was also very good. Wasn't too busy when we ate but nice little place.

Le Café is absolutely incredible! The fish they serve is beyond amazing, and their homemade noodles are so delicious that they will make your mouth water. Not only that, but the service is top-notch, making the entire dining experience truly unforgettable. I can't recommend Le Café enough to anyone who is looking for a remarkable dining experience.

Service was friendly, efficient and prompt. The food was very good and enjoyed by each one of our party. I had no complaints whatsoever about the coffee either, so overall, it's a place to which I would be more than happy to return one day.

Don’t expect to dine here if you have a to-go container from the restaurant next door. Two staff members told us we needed to leave — after we had already paid for two drinks here at Le Café that hadn’t even arrived. Extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience.

We had a wonderful day on 15 June. The staff when booking in were lovely. We took the afternoon trip & enjoyed it immensely. It was sunny & flat calm. Cap'n Fred is a skilled & experienced skipper. He gave us great insights as we moved through Queen Charlotte Sounds. Thank you Fred & Cougar Line for a great trip.

We did the Cruise to Motuara Island as we only wanted to commit to a half day. The weather was not great on our arrival and the friendly help desk gave us a couple of options instead of our booked cruise, at no extra charge. Because of our time constraints we stuck with the booked tour. On the way out the weather was still questionable and boat captain remained flexible. Ultimately we were dropped at the island. I probably hadn't done my research, because 90 minutes was too much time to do the walk to the top of the island and back to the wharf, and that is all you can do on the island. Hardly the fault of Cougar Line, but consider it consumer information. All in all a great day with high quality vessels and friendly staff.
Paul H — Google review
What a great service. Lovely helpful staff. The trip out to ships Cove was great and we even slowed down to see some dolphins. Bags have been ready and waiting at each of our lodges. Highly recommend.

Amazing service! What an amazing experience. So much marine life we even got to see a pod of 7 beautiful orcas. I would 100% recommend cougar line for anyone wanting to explore the Queen Charlotte Sounds. The staff at all the resorts were super friendly especially the staff at Furneaux Lodge and Punga Cove asking about how the hikes going and just making friendly conversations, They also make delicious food. The boat ride was nice and calm to Ships Cove and from Anakiwa. Thanks to everyone at Cougar Line for this amazing experience .

The staff on arrival at the receiption were friendly although it was early in the morning I was met with a smile. The journey our to Cooks was really good with the skipper stopping as a pod of Dolfins swam around the bout. At the pick up point we were 5 minutes late the boat waited for my party of 4 otherwise we would have been stranded. Thank you great service

What a well organized and reliable day trip to walk the Queen Charlotte Track between Fernaux Lodge and Punga Cove. The check-in process was smooth along with drop-off and pick-up. Ollie was amazing on the ride to Fernaux Lodge. He shared info about the Sound and his work experiences at a local winery. What a grea experience. I docked a star for the trouble I had trying to use their website to buy a ticket and the lack of info. Thank goodness fir the Blenheim isite who helped me sort out the ticket and trip details.

Bakery
Picton Village Bakery is a renowned bakery in New Zealand, known for its delicious treats and quality prices. The bakery offers a variety of options including traditional Dutch food, pies, sweet treats, and sandwiches. Customers praise the generous fillings and perfectly flaky pastry of the pies. The friendly staff provide excellent service, even going above and beyond to hand-deliver pizzas to customers waiting for the ferry. Visitors highly recommend trying the steak and blue cheese pie as it is described as an unforgettable culinary experience.
Stopped here for a quick lunch during our visit to Picton. It was a bit busy here, like the rest of Picton, due to numerous cruise ship passengers being in town. We got three pies and two cans of drink for 26 New Zealand dollars. The staff were friendly, the pies tasted nice.

I was really impressed by the variety of pies and slices available—there’s something for everyone. I absolutely loved the Chicken and Camembert pie; it was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. You can tell they use quality ingredients. Their sandwich options are just as tempting, fresh, and filling. On top of that, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, which made the visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for a tasty and satisfying bite!

A delicious experience! We had a bacon & egg pie, and a mince & cheese pie for breakfast - both with a good amount of filling and perfectly flaky/chewy pastry. We also had yesterday's sandwiches to take on a walk for lunch- the bread was still soft and there was a generous amount of ingredients. So good, highly recommend for anyone passing through Picton!

All 3 items I purchased on a weekday morning were stale. Bread and 2 sweet treats. The custard bread sweet treat was so far gone/stale the sides crumbled away when I tried to cut it. I know it must be super hard to manage this sort of thing vs wastage, but I felt ripped off. Chick on the till was lovely, only reason for 2 instead of 1 stars.

Stopped in on the way past, was ravenous and didn't get disappointed. Young lady behind the counter made us delicious coffees and was verry bubbly even on an early Monday morning. Beautiful food, looking forward to my next drive through Picton. Thank you!

This bakery sure lives up to its reputation, balancing very tasty food with quality prices. We purchased two of their quality pies and 3 sweet things for roughly $20. Both pies were super tasty, well better than most competitors at the same price. Their traditional Dutch food, while sparse also tasted particularly good. Service was a amazing and plenty of selections to be had.

We were in a Campervan so can’t rate the cabins, but the bathrooms were lovely and clean at all hours of the day and night, the spa was lovely, and the staff were INCREDIBLE. Had a little hiccup checking in that the staff member came out after hours to help us with, she remembered it was my birthday and made it feel special, and made us feel like part of the family. So much more than I would ever usually expect at a holiday park!!! 5 star service ❤️

The two of us stayed here for a few days to escape the heavy rain. We booked one of the cabins, and it was just right. Very cozy and practically furnished. The kitchen is well-equipped. The heating works perfectly and reaches the desired temperature quickly. The shower is great, with a powerful jet and hot water. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are also some beautiful hiking trails along the coast in the area. A good place for short or long stays; I can recommend it to anyone!

Easy to book, arrival check-in was super easy and staff friendly. Amenities were clean and hot water in the shower was perfect! Kitchen and bbq area maintained and lots of space for many people. Play area looked fun and can imagine children of all ages enjoying the park, games and space. Camp grounds were green and well cared for. Didn't use the rooms (but could see inside them - not occupied at the time) and they looked comfortable, clean and spacious. Dump point and water for campervans was so cool (I know - not something that gets mentioned but hey/)

Amazing place, Amazing person ! We arrived 5min after reception closing (we know, not nice but happened sometimes) The receptionist (Who I believed is also the park manager) opened the office to Check us in (we did not have a booking and where ready to go somewhere else) ! She was amazingly nice and we felt welcome in the park this night ! The place itself is really nice with nice grass and really quiet ! The price is also really good, and I think one of the cheapest one we did in NZ, with all the facilities included (Free hot and unlimited showers, wifi, full serviced kitchen) Amazing again Thank you !

FALSE ADVERTISING. Absolutely terrible, I encouraged 3 families to stay here opposed to where they suggested we stay based on the 27° swimming pool, spa and trampoline that the kids would enjoy, NONE of these things were available so we paid over $500 for one night. False advertising, no offer of refund. Not a good place to bring kids for a holiday!!!

Went to Sisu for a bite to eat and a few drinks on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Fantastic food and great location. Service was excellent, very friendly and attentive without being over bearing. Wine list was extensive and tasting provided before you commit to ordering a glass, three beers on tap with more available in bottles or cans. The menu changes but we had the Cabbage rolls, stuffed mushrooms and the meatballs, all were delicious. Will be back!!!

What an unexpected delight to find in Picton of all places. The service was incredible, with knowledge of the locally sourced wines. The lamb was flavourful, crisp on the outside and so tender on the inside. I highly recommend stopping by here.

Exceptional experience. Great tapas menu. Fantastic service. We came for a beer and ended up spending 2 hours experiencing the menu and hands down - a fantastic place to eat and drink. Special thanks to our waiter Stephan who went above and beyond providing great service.

Food was very good, vibe was great. Service was nice and friendly but I'd have preferred to have had the same server throughout as you build some rapport with those who great you, and then we had everyone else in the venue delivering plates to us. Lovely local wines too. A surprisingly 'happening' Monday night in the shoulder season!

Sisu has exquisite and creative food choices and impeccable service. The staff are customer focused and friendly. For Picton visitors, we highly recommend try LEAVE IT WITH US - SISU'S SET MENU , we were enjoying the taste, presentation and nutritional value all chef’s choices for us. Do not miss any opportunity to have a meal here.

Great food concept backed by a nice local selection of wines. A clever tapas style eating experience. Next time I am there I'll make sure I'm not traveling as the wines are worth working through the menu.

A gem of a place. We popped in for a quick bite for lunch & stayed for a couple of hours. Food is exceptional. Small tapas style bites. Service is very attentive. Very happy to recommond Sisu.

Sandwich shop
Toastie Lords in Picton is a charming spot that opens early, making it convenient for ferry travelers to grab a delicious bite. The menu offers a variety of mouthwatering toasties, including classic options like ham and cheese, as well as more unique choices such as kimchi and vegan baconnaise. Visitors praise the friendly staff and cute aesthetic of the place.
Absolutely amazing toasties. The four cheese mix gives them such a rich and complex flavour. I also really appreciate the generosity with the meat inside and the crispiness of the bread. So much more elevated than your typical homemade toastie.

My sister heard about this place 3 year ago driving our mum on the ferry she was sad to hear it was not open during the time she was in picton and ever since then she had been talking about this place to the family. 3 years later we have her doing the same thing driving me on the ferry yet this time..... this place was open Absolutely scrumptious tastiest toasties I have have had in and good year and amazing staff Betty & pete have great taste I love the the store atmosphere too. Check out my photo Thank you so much for the extra love and taste toasties

So cheesy and warm☺️ nice place to get a quick meal. Kimchi sandwich was very special. A bit sour but intense. Could try once for sure, but maybe not for next time? My best one was tuna sandwich 🥪

Absolutely delicious! The toasted sandwich was perfectly crisp on the outside, with a golden crunch that gave way to a warm, melty, and flavorful filling inside. Every bite was a comforting mix of textures and taste — cheesy, savory, and satisfying. Whether you’re after a quick bite or a cozy meal, this toasted sandwich truly hits the spot. Simple, classic, and done right. Highly recommended

Absolutely delicious toasties 10/10, great service (staff were friendly, enthusiastic workers). Yummy options and would 100% go back for more!
Savana S — Google review
Got a toastie, a milkshake & a donut. The donut & milkshake were both good, I ordered the Ken toastie which had corn, bacon & cheese however there was only 2 tiny bits of bacon in the entire toastie, it was also tomato based which was weird cause it wasn’t advertised & I don’t love tomato sauce. I was super disappointed in the toastie! Overhyped in my opinion. The service was good tho!

Amazing toasties and delicious drinks! great place to stop if you are heading off or on to the ferry...The Ken toastie is a fav!

Such an epic place! Great toasties, drinks and super consistent all round. Must see in beautiful Picton. If you love salmon and pickles the “Pete from Picton” is the BEST

Cafe
Seabreeze Cafe & Bar is a relaxed waterfront tavern and cafe with deck seating, offering all-day breakfast and an abundance of seafood options. Visitors rave about the delicious seafood chowder and fresh local oysters, as well as the exceptional service. The cafe's prime location provides stunning views of the harbor and Malborough Sounds, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely meal. Guests also appreciate the quick service and reasonable prices, making it a must-visit when in Picton.
This is the best place to eat at Picton. The best breakfast, best coffee, best sandwiches and best pastries. We spent over two weeks at Picton and we ate there everyday, except to try other places which aren’t as good as this one. Prices are also better and the service is excellent. The manager was very nice and she even memorized our preferences. It’s not easy for us to say we found great coffee and food, since our home has great food and the best coffee, so when we say it’s good, it really is! Thank you for your kindness and for making us feel at home. I fully recommend 💯.

I had a fantastic breakfast here. The food was fresh, generous, and full of flavour – the big breakfast in particular was hearty and satisfying. There’s also a tempting selection of baked goods and great coffee to go with it. The interior is a lovely mix of Victorian charm and nautical style, clean and thoughtfully designed with plenty of natural light. Sitting by the window, you can enjoy the view of the harbour while you eat – even with some roadworks at the moment, it’s still a beautiful spot, and it will only get better once the upgrades are complete. The staff were warm and friendly, which made the visit even more enjoyable. A great place to relax, enjoy a meal, and take in the waterfront atmosphere.

Came for lunch with our small group. Liked it so much we came back the next day for lunch. Staff were friendly, service was great and our meals came quite quickly considering how busy the cafe was. The pumpkin soup was really thick, just the way I like it and the muesli was a good portion with yoghurt on top. Busy cafe with plenty of seating and easy to find in Picton.
Alison H — Google review
Had breakfast here in Oct-25. The cafe is situated on the harbour with beautiful views out to sea, and ample indoor and outdoor seating. The menu was extensive and the food tasted good, but the service was painfully slow. Despite there being at least eight staff on duty, just one person was left to take orders, make drinks and ferry them to tables - which meant that even though I was second in the queue, I waited ten minutes to place my order, and another ten for a simple cup of tea to arrive. Nice place but disorganised.
Adam B — Google review
Nice cafe for breakfast. The food was delicious. Only was staying for 1 day so could not try out the different places and cafes so won't be commenting much but taste wise the pancakes was fluffy and tasty.
Roy ( — Google review
A good place to get a tasty and sumptuous breakfast and a good cup of joe. Service was friendly and fast and without the condescending baristas who speaks Starbuckese you find at the typical Starbucks. The vegetarian breakfast was very filling and nutritious. At the other extreme, the Kiwi big breakfast was a meat lover's paradise. Both are well presented and tasty. Both can be ordered with fried, poached, or scrambled eggs.

One of the best smashed avocados I’ve ever had! The avocado was fresh and the smoked salmon was delicious. However, there was only one slice of bread, which wasn’t quite enough to fill me up.
Bibek S — Google review
My husband and I ate lunch here today and we very much enjoyed the café. The cafe salad and seafood chowder with bread was delicious and my husband had the grouper burger with chips (fries). Service was extraordinary and we enjoyed visiting with the staff and eating the very delicious meal.

Thai restaurant
Thai Panda is a Thai restaurant with authentic Thai dishes and great prices. The green curry was the best I've had in New Zealand, and the Tomyum was delicious too. It's a great place to eat if you're looking for some authentic thai food at a reasonable price.
Always so good when I come here. Huge portion sizes and so yummy, thanks so much we love it here! Great service too :)
Rebecca G — Google review
It's a converted house so the inside is a bit odd, and it's probably more geared for takeaways than dining in (no on-license, etc). However food was great and service was good. No problems with paywave this visit. Would definitely have food from here again!
Ali B — Google review
We had lunch here and had delicious and very fluffy Thai fish cakes. Very tasty. The chow mein noodle soup had lots of meat and vegetables. The fried rice was just like it is prepared in China. The lady serving us and working in the kitchen was very friendly and prepared everything herself. Highly recommended!

Fantastic food and service! Me and my family ordered a Tom Yum Soup, Pad Kra Pao Fried Rice, Basil & Chilli Stir-Fry and Stir Fried Egg Noodle. Everything was delicious, 100% worth the price! ;)

Lovely meal. Good portion. Fast service. Great value. Needs a sign to point you in right direction to get served. A local getting a take away showed us. Would dine here again. 😊
Shona M — Google review
We ordered the sweet and sour pork and it tasted like ketchup??!! It actually looked like soup with all but 8 pieces of pork and a whole lot of pineapple. The fried rice was really bland and the mixed veg in it was hard. We also ordered the stir fried vegetables which was gross, no flavour at all and the carrots were so hard. Very disappointed with our meal. Cost us around $70 too :(
Christine B — Google review
Absolutely fantastic food. We got the Satay Chicken dish and the Green Curry dish. Both come with a bowl of rice and cosy us $22 each. Quality of food and the taste was really, really good. No PayWave available when we had to pay, so bring either cash or a credit card. Inside the premises is a strange layout and dated though, but this is because it's simply an old house. But the food made up for it!
Jel B — Google review
Omg where have you been all this time! One of the very best Thai dishes I've had (and I've had way too many) around the world! Looking at the signage in the dark, we decided to give it a go being one of the only restaurants open at Picton at 2000 on Sunday night! Wow! from the attentive and friendly services, (from the waitress to the chef) to the excellent wok skill, texture and flavour of our dishes, you can't not fall in love with it immediately and wanna come back for more! The place is simple, homey and minimalist inside, but the outside is nicely done on the deck. With outstanding dishes like this, I don't care if I have to sit on the ground in the carpark and eat out in the open (I guess that adds the "authentic Thai feeling")! If you haven't tried it yet, you don't know what you have missed out on Thai food!
