Ancient Ruins
Quilmes Ruins, located in the Calchaqui Valleys of Argentina's Tucuman province, is a significant pre-Columbian settlement. At an elevation of 2000 meters, this archaeological site was once home to the Quilmes tribe and covers 30 hectares at the foot of Cerro Alto del Rey. The ruins date back to 850 AD and offer insight into the daily life and rituals of this ancient community.
An incredible place to visit and learn about the magnificent culture and history of the Quilmes. There is a great museum on-site with artifacts in several exhibitions and some interactive displays too. A great, short movie detailing the Quilmes is shown throughout the day. Outside of the museum are the ruins, a mixture of reconstructed works and original structures. It is wonderful to explore the ruins and climb high onto the mountain they called home. Toilets, shops and some basic eateries can be found outside. Entrance fees vary depending on nationality, with foreigners paying a little more but very reasonably priced. They accept both cash and card. Definitely worth a trip here.

Sept.25: After a scenic drive we arrived @Ruins of Quilmes. We paid entrance fee of ARS12.000 = €7.50 p.p. This was for museum, archeological site as well as for the perfectly clean toilets with even the possibility to have clean drinking water. Fernanda who spoke really good English explained the 4 rooms of the museum. Nr. 3 would have an interactive video in about 15 minutes & would telll us all about the histtory, living, war, defeat & captivation of the Quilmes people. Nr. 1 & 2 were informative with headphones for English, Spanish or Portuguese. Nr.4 was an exhibition of artifacts. @site there were huge cacti. We went all the way up to the Northern viewpoint; we spend here a bit more than 3 hours.

The place features some of the best views you will get in Argentina. For starters, I didn't expect the museum to be so modern. The people in the stores and the guides were very nice and friendly as well. I climbed 300 meters (about 1000 feet) following the old tracks built by the ancient townsfolk. I must admit, they had a remarkably robust way of building things as all the stone stairs are still there and quite firm. However, some areas of the track are unstable, so you need to wear proper mountain shoes and mind your step as you could easily slip and fall. Also, lots of wasps on the way, so keep that in mind if you are afraid of them like I am x-x Lots of tourists too, but it seems to be quieter during the mornings.

A great place to visit ... the access road is a little rough, but worth it. Do not, under any circumstances, miss out on the musuem here - it was beyond all our expectations. The displays were incredibly informative, and so well put together. There is little shade, so make sure to have lots of water with you as you walk around.

Amazing place, 7k to get in (UK citizen), stunning views from the southern and northern view points. Museum didn't have power when I was there so could not go inside.... The road to the site is poor quality. Hopefully they will pace it soon.

Beautiful place! There is the option to take a guide with you or go by yourself. The little museum is pretty modern and has English subtitles too. There’s a few shops and good bathrooms. We even saw a few lama’s there. We had low expectations for this place, but they were totally met! 🦙

Amazing site, a massive pre-incan citadel and sacred city, the biggest and best preserved in Argentina. The museum attached to it is very informative and sets the scene for visiting the site itself.

Escultura Lionel Messi is a statue located in the port area, close to a tourist spot. It commemorates the iconic footballer and serves as a reminder of his career. The sculpture captures Messi's feet and the ball, making it an interesting sight for fans and tourists alike. Despite being erected while he was still playing, it stands as a tribute to his legacy. Visitors can take pictures with the statue and enjoy a leisurely stroll in the surrounding area.
Nice touch for a living icon The area is very nice for a stroll and, for the moment at least, you can still see Messi's feet and the ball. Apparently the rest of him was thrown in the river (or the half that was remaining). I quite liked getting some pictures - especially as I was there during the world cup and Messi was a hot topic of conversation A good statue in the port area. Interesting to have such a thing when an icon is still playing. If you want to see this it's very close to tourist area. However you can miss if you go from the Pink House to the port area on foot and turn left towards the main areas. Turn right and a 5 minute walk

It’s surprising to see how people think Messi is god and even create religion for him but at the same time they treat his sculpture horribly which doesn’t even exist there, just some leftover of his feet :))) So don’t even bother coming here

Taco restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Puerto Madero, Lupita Mexican Bar is a vibrant haven for lovers of authentic Mexican cuisine. With its breathtaking views and lively atmosphere, it’s an ideal spot to enjoy a meal at any time. The menu boasts a delightful array of traditional dishes, from sizzling fajitas to flavorful tacos and burritos, all crafted with care and authenticity. Vegetarians will also find plenty to savor here!
This place is nicely decorated and in a great location. The service is great and the servers are on point. I ordered the chicken and steak fajita, when it came out I tried separate, then tried the chicken separate, didn't like steak and the chicken was so salty, but when I built the fajita all together with peppers, oinions, guacamole and salsa picante, it was probably the best fajita I have ever had. I was told that it was for 2 people, but I finished it pretty easily by myself. I definitely recommend this place.
Craig's T — Google review
A great place to have a beer and some food with your friends while overlooking the lovely scenery in Puerto Madeiro. The service was amazing, quick, very helpful and professional. The beers tasted very good with the South American sun blessing our skin. The place itself is located near office/appartement buildings I guess so the ambiance isn't the best, but that doesn't take away from this establishments quality.
Animesh G — Google review
We had dinner at Lupita Mexican Restaurant in Puerto Madero, and it was… an interesting ride. First things first—the service was awesome! Super friendly staff, very attentive, and they really made us feel welcome. Also, the place is gorgeous! Seriously, 10/10 for vibes and decoration. It’s Instagram-worthy for sure. Now, let’s talk about the food. Or rather… the tiny bites that waved at us on their way to someone else’s table. 😅 We ordered a dish that was $80 USD, and when it arrived, we genuinely thought it was the appetizer. For one person. Spoiler: it was meant for two. We kind of laughed… and then cried a little. Definitely bring snacks if you’re planning to share. Also, the menu was kind of a head-scratcher. We were expecting real-deal Mexican dishes, but what we got felt more like a remix by someone who once saw a taco on Pinterest. And the food? A bit too salty—like it had just gotten out of a breakup. That said, we really loved the atmosphere and the service, so we want to love this place. Just hoping they make the portions a bit more human-sized and bring in a few more authentic Mexican options. We’ll give it another shot someday—maybe after a big lunch. Small water bottle for $5.542 ($5USD)

Great ambience and vibe. The service is good. Food was crap, and theres a surprise cubierto on the bill which they levy as tourist tax which is always in disguise 🤣

I have been meanwhile several times at Lupita for dinner and most of the times it has been good. We usually order the plates which you can share and it tastes good. As we have dinner normally early, the waiting times are not too long. I guess that waiting times are quite long, when you come during peak time. The cocktails are good as well.
Henrik — Google review
Loved the waiters and the colorful decorations, but the restaurant was emptier than I expected. I’d recommend not sitting by the road as several people approached us trying to sell us random things/asking for money. The food was pretty good and there was a nice selection of drinks too
Andreea B — Google review
Absolutely nothing Mexican or yummy about the food here. Bread cokes out with two sauces. Supposed to be spicy jalapeño jam and a ranch. Neither taste anything like suscribes. Tortillas are dry and cold, wilted lettuce is not a substitute for cilantro. Cold potatoes don’t go with tacos, raw tomatoes and onions with no salt at least. No flavor and where their is flavor the flavors are just all off. Service was fine but the full bill was over $20k. Won’t be back
Gibby — Google review
They charge an expensive table service and give to 4 what they give to one. When I ordered more nachos they brought them all humid and with an old and cold tomato sauce. There was only one waitress while there was an employee doing nothing at the door when no one came in. And they said the burritos were two, and you can see in the photo that it was a small burrito cut in half, really expensive for the amount of food. And the normal mojito was not good at all. Don't expect to see any guacamole in the burritos neither, even if it says it brings it, I complained for this and she told me it was inside, but I really checked and there was no guacamole.

Today, I visited Cle Cafe Boulangerie Et Deli on a busy Friday afternoon. The cafe was packed, and I had to leave my name to be called when a table became available. After waiting for approximately 15 minutes, a waiter approached me to take my order, which was impressive considering the circumstances. The service was prompt, and I received my Latte and chocolate mousse cake in no time.
Came to enjoy a nice merienda and it did not disappoint. I tried the calm and red teas and they were the best I've ever tried. I can't wait to go back. All of the food we tried was great, almond croissant, coconut cake thing, macarons, ham and cheese croissant.

Nice environment, coffee and tea, pastry specialties. We got ristretos, blue cheese salads, many delicious sweets. Impossible not to love this place. I got a corner with electric socket, and spent like 6 hs there working, tasting teas. It's definitely not cheap. Recommended: do not leave the place without bread to your home.

Visited Cle Cafe today, friday afternoon. It was crowded and I had to list my name to get called once a table was free. I waited about 15 minutes. A waiter showed up asking for our order 5 minutes after taking place. That was great, they served us pretty quickly. I had a Latte and a chocolate mousse cake. It was a good amount and good coffee for 550 Arg pesos and the piece of cake was very generous as well. Tasted delicious ❣️ 👉🏼No delivery 👉🏼Pet friendly when eating outside in front of the restaurant. 👉🏼No wheelchair adapted entry. 👉🏼 Beautiful and clean WC. Definitely a beautiful coffee shop in Quilmes. ☕

(Translated by Google) I went to have lunch on Wednesday, October 17th, with my partner. Everything was delicious, and the atmosphere was super calm and comfortable. The only thing I have to complain about was that when the waitress came to collect my money, I was waiting for her to return almost 5,000 pesos. I went to the bathroom to see if she'd bring me my change. The waitress kept that almost 5,000 peso tip. Not only did I ask her if she could take the leftovers, but she didn't even answer; she just brought me what was left, and she never said a word. That girl was a real disaster, especially keeping change that wasn't hers.

The Good: Good atmosphere and overall quality, very delicious coffee and the right temperature for my taste. The Bad: I ordered a rogel, and the dough was very hard; I didn't like it. But the MOST IMPORTANT thing would be to improve the customer service. Of the staff who served us, I can only highlight the kindness of the first waiter; the rest were very cold.

Nestled in a charming locale, Espacio Las Moras is the perfect spot for a delightful lunch experience. Alongside play structures and a regular craft fair, this museum offers an array of activities for visitors. However, it has been observed that the perimeter wire surrounding the museum is severely damaged and vulnerable to vandalism. (Translated by Google) The place is very nice but the service has a lot to improve, to begin with we sat down and they gave us to choose something to drink when we hadn't even taken off our jackets, we wanted to see the menu and they told us that they didn't have any and that it was outdated, we lost some The beers were good, we asked for some peanuts 3 times and after 40 minutes they brought it. 1 hour later the snack arrived ^hot^ that was colder than your mother-in-law's heart. The good thing is that you try new flavors that you didn't know existed, such as cold Chedar with hard fries like Diego in '86... incredible. Then we ordered another beer, which I don't remember the name but it was the same as drinking beer with vinegar and fernet. And the napkins came almost as we were leaving and after having asked them 3 times to bring them. I don't recommend it at all. A... and it is recommended that you have up-to-date vaccinations to go to the bathroom and don't even dream that there will be paper to dry your hands because there isn't any.

Tierra Adentro is a delightful dining destination that truly captures the essence of culinary excellence. With an inviting atmosphere perfect for intimate conversations, this restaurant offers a menu filled with mouthwatering dishes and delectable desserts. A standout moment was when a Pistachio Volcano dessert erupted at the table, showcasing their commitment to customer satisfaction as they promptly offered a replacement. The service here is exceptional, making every visit memorable.

One of my favorite places in the world. The appetizers and drinks are amazing. The entrees have been a bit disappointing the two times I've gone.

(Translated by Google) Very nice place, the atmosphere is beautiful. The food is very delicious but quite expensive, it is worth it. The waitresses were friendly but took a long time to serve. We went mid-week so there were very few tables occupied. The second time we ordered some drinks it took them half an hour to bring them and they brought mine wrong, I asked for it to be changed and they came back 20 minutes later with the same drink but with the ice melted (Original) Muy lindo lugar, el ambiente es precioso.

(Translated by Google) A very nice, pleasant place with very, very delicious food and desserts. One gesture and detail I want to highlight is that we ordered a Pistachio Volcano with ice cream of the same flavor, and when it was delivered to the table... the volcano erupted, and the waitress, very kindly, said... don't worry, I'll bring you another one free of charge. That speaks volumes, since they want you to enjoy the desserts properly. We went as a family before Father's Day and had a great time.

(Translated by Google) We went with a reservation for Mother's Day. The service was outstanding, the waiters were very attentive and friendly. The food was EXQUISITE, and the plates were generous, so we couldn't finish them despite how delicious it was. We ordered a super-tender pizza-style matambre with caramelized onions—a poem. It was accompanied by potato millefeuille, which was amazing. The dessert was panna cotta with strawberries and a red berry sauce, smooth and delicious. Oh, and the appetizer was also beautiful: smashed potatoes with mushrooms and melted cheese 🙏. We ordered Pepsi and wine. The place is beautiful, with lots of greenery in the courtyard and the gallery area where we were, very pretty. The music was pleasant. I didn't visit the bathroom. I will definitely return and will recommend it. Musica agradable. No conocí el baño. Sin duda volverenos y lo estaré recomendando.

(Translated by Google) Terrible service! Lack of commitment and responsibility. Today, Friday, March 7, 2025, I called at 10 p.m. to place an order for empanadas, they agreed to deliver to the home and when I called after 40 minutes they didn't we receive no one attends to me. I approach the premises walking and it is closed!! They are disgraceful and irresponsible. They didn't warn me and they left me without dinner for my children. They do not receive orders through WSP, having to spend credit to make a phone call, they do not receive transfers because they surely blacken and do not launder their income or for whatever reason it is not comfortable for customers, they do everything so that you as a customer have the worst experience and despite all of the above, they cannot fulfill an order to deliver empanadas less than 10 blocks away. Anymore. Since I tried pizzaiola which is further away it is much tastier and they are super responsible. I prefer to continue spending more and not waste time with an irresponsible business. We can all have mistakes but the management of everything narrated shows that customers care less and less. Anymore!!

Day 4

Off the beaten path
For day 4, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Lineal Quilmes-Don Bosco Park. Not quite as popular as Cervecería, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 4 hours.

The Public Library and Cultural Complex Mariano Moreno is a striking example of avant-garde architecture from the late 1970s, serving as a vibrant cultural hub for the Quilmes community and its surroundings. This multifaceted space not only houses an extensive library but also features a dedicated children's section and offers various workshops in art, theater, Tai Chi, and more.
