Ancient Ruins
Quilmes Ruins, located in the Calchaqui Valleys of Argentina's Tucuman province, is a significant pre-Columbian settlement. At an elevation of 2000 meters, this archaeological site was once home to the Quilmes tribe and covers 30 hectares at the foot of Cerro Alto del Rey. The ruins date back to 850 AD and offer insight into the daily life and rituals of this ancient community.
An incredible place to visit and learn about the magnificent culture and history of the Quilmes. There is a great museum on-site with artifacts in several exhibitions and some interactive displays too. A great, short movie detailing the Quilmes is shown throughout the day. Outside of the museum are the ruins, a mixture of reconstructed works and original structures. It is wonderful to explore the ruins and climb high onto the mountain they called home. Toilets, shops and some basic eateries can be found outside. Entrance fees vary depending on nationality, with foreigners paying a little more but very reasonably priced. They accept both cash and card. Definitely worth a trip here.

Sept.25: After a scenic drive we arrived @Ruins of Quilmes. We paid entrance fee of ARS12.000 = €7.50 p.p. This was for museum, archeological site as well as for the perfectly clean toilets with even the possibility to have clean drinking water. Fernanda who spoke really good English explained the 4 rooms of the museum. Nr. 3 would have an interactive video in about 15 minutes & would telll us all about the histtory, living, war, defeat & captivation of the Quilmes people. Nr. 1 & 2 were informative with headphones for English, Spanish or Portuguese. Nr.4 was an exhibition of artifacts. @site there were huge cacti. We went all the way up to the Northern viewpoint; we spend here a bit more than 3 hours.

The place features some of the best views you will get in Argentina. For starters, I didn't expect the museum to be so modern. The people in the stores and the guides were very nice and friendly as well. I climbed 300 meters (about 1000 feet) following the old tracks built by the ancient townsfolk. I must admit, they had a remarkably robust way of building things as all the stone stairs are still there and quite firm. However, some areas of the track are unstable, so you need to wear proper mountain shoes and mind your step as you could easily slip and fall. Also, lots of wasps on the way, so keep that in mind if you are afraid of them like I am x-x Lots of tourists too, but it seems to be quieter during the mornings.

A great place to visit ... the access road is a little rough, but worth it. Do not, under any circumstances, miss out on the musuem here - it was beyond all our expectations. The displays were incredibly informative, and so well put together. There is little shade, so make sure to have lots of water with you as you walk around.

Amazing place, 7k to get in (UK citizen), stunning views from the southern and northern view points. Museum didn't have power when I was there so could not go inside.... The road to the site is poor quality. Hopefully they will pace it soon.

Beautiful place! There is the option to take a guide with you or go by yourself. The little museum is pretty modern and has English subtitles too. There’s a few shops and good bathrooms. We even saw a few lama’s there. We had low expectations for this place, but they were totally met! 🦙

Amazing site, a massive pre-incan citadel and sacred city, the biggest and best preserved in Argentina. The museum attached to it is very informative and sets the scene for visiting the site itself.

The Transport Museum, located in a park, showcases a variety of carriages, vintage motorcycles, and model ships. Alongside play structures and a regular craft fair, this museum offers an array of activities for visitors. However, it has been observed that the perimeter wire surrounding the museum is severely damaged and vulnerable to vandalism. Despite this concern, the museum holds great value as a historical destination that is highly appreciated by many.

Escultura Lionel Messi is a statue located in the port area, close to a tourist spot. It commemorates the iconic footballer and serves as a reminder of his career. The sculpture captures Messi's feet and the ball, making it an interesting sight for fans and tourists alike. Despite being erected while he was still playing, it stands as a tribute to his legacy. Visitors can take pictures with the statue and enjoy a leisurely stroll in the surrounding area.
Nice touch for a living icon The area is very nice for a stroll and, for the moment at least, you can still see Messi's feet and the ball. Apparently the rest of him was thrown in the river (or the half that was remaining). I quite liked getting some pictures - especially as I was there during the world cup and Messi was a hot topic of conversation A good statue in the port area. Interesting to have such a thing when an icon is still playing. If you want to see this it's very close to tourist area. However you can miss if you go from the Pink House to the port area on foot and turn left towards the main areas. Turn right and a 5 minute walk

(Translated by Google) New park in Don Bosco very close to Caseros Avenue and the Nuevo Quilmes neighborhood. There are children's games and little by little events are organized such as food trucks that give out photos. The running lap is 2 km long, making it attractive for sports. For now there are few plants and in summer the sun is strong, but if it evolves into a park it has a lot of potential for use by the community.
