Nestled in the picturesque Leicestershire countryside, Foxton Locks Inn is a delightful country pub and restaurant that offers a warm and inviting atmosphere. With its charming wood-beamed interiors and a lovely covered terrace overlooking the historic Grand Union Canal's impressive staircase locks, it's an ideal spot to unwind after exploring the scenic surroundings. The inn serves up delicious home-cooked meals alongside award-winning real ales, making it perfect for both casual visits and special occasions.
I haven't been here since I was a teenager! in those days there wasn't even mains electricity! there was a generator out the back in a shed, how things have changed, absolutely lovely place, canalside setting, tasteful decor, stunning views and fabulous food, honestly, the carvery is to die for! I'll post some photos, the food is as good as it looks, the staff are wonderful, friendly and efficient, once you've had you're fill, there's Foxton Locks themselves, an amazing piece of engineering and a fabulous view from the top lock, all in all a great place to while away a few hours and get a fabulous feed

Had a very disappointing Chicken Caesar Salad. Chicken was cold rather than freshly cooked warm, the croutons were as hard a rock, and the Parmesan was as tasteless as the dressing. I finished with Eaton Mess - another disappointing episode. The meringue had no chewiness and wasn’t even combined with the fruit and cream. What sounded good on the page didn’t deliver on the plate. Staff pleasant and atmosphere good too. Idilic location.
Richard E — Google review
Lovely atmosphere, seating available outside close to the canal and if the weather isn't so good the conservatory offers a lovely seating area overlooking the canal. Dog friendly both outside and in, the menu was a little limited but good quality ingredients.

❤️ Foxton Locks & like the Inn. We had coffee at the Inn, which we enjoyed on the patio overlooking the water, where swans entertained us to a territory fight. Staff are friendly & helpful. Attractive ladies' toilets.
Liz ( — Google review
Food is great, views of the canal are great! We went when the lock itself was closed so it wasn’t very busy, fantastic place to stubble across on a Saturday morning! (They use Heinz beans for breakfast, and they also have good bbq sauce too!)
Tristan M — Google review
Great place to stop on a long journey Great food been twice yet to see a canal boat going through!

Nice pub right on the locks with a good choice of smaller lunch meals as well as main dishes. Nice pub garden. Perfect spot if visiting the Foxton Locks area.

What a find, fantastic food. Had a delicious hot roast sandwich and it was fantastic, lovely thick cut granary bread, with cranberry and lovely thick slices of roast turkey, with crisps and side salad. Really a delicious sandwich, followed by the most divine tasting lemon cheese cake. Will definitely be back 👍

The Foxton Canal Museum tells the story of the canal lift it served for the public, and is located in the reconstructed Boiler House of the lift. The museum is a great place to learn about how inclined plane canal lifts work, and is lacking in fundraising efforts to restore the lift. With recent interest in canal boating, restoring this heritage landmark would be a great investment for Foxton and help boost tourism in the local town.
Lovely little museum with very friendly, helpful staff. We were just passing through, and I'd never heard of this unique inclined plane lift before, so I was very happy to find out how it worked as the staff took time to explain to us personally. Also, it's dog friendly, so bonus, as our little fella enjoyed it rather than being left outside.
Dave B — Google review
Absolute gem of a museum telling the history of the locks , historic incline plane and canal life. Great for adults and kids . A knowledgeable tour guide of the incline plane is given on the hour as well. The gift shop is well stocked and all the staff are friendly . There is plenty there for a day out with lovely walks along the locks, meals at the 2 pubs and a gift shop at the bottom and a second loved book shop and cafe with ice creams at the top.
Wendy D — Google review
Fascinating little museum with very knowledgeable staff and fun things to do for children too. Really helps with appreciation of the rest of the Foxton Locks site, plus they do tours of the remains of the boat lift which you normally can't access! The cute little shop at the museum's entrance is worth checking out in itself. Also pub at the bottom to pop in afterwards 😀.
Paul O — Google review
Very nice experience I had when visited this museum. Got more knowledge about Foxton Locks and how they work. Even sad to know that the Locks plane were demolished in 1928 but still there's remains. Knowledgeable staff and very helpful too.
Win T — Google review
We absolutely loved the Museum! We love how friendly the staff are and how welcoming they are! They were extremely helpful with showing us how the interactive pieces in the museum worked like the example of how the boat lift worked on the model and also an example of pressure with coal to show a video of how the boat lift worked more effectively. I feel like i learnt so much about the building of Foxton Locks and felt very lucky to be able to walk round after learning about it. I would definitely say head to the Museum first before walking round the Locks to understand more about why and what happens with the Process of going through each lock. I look forward to visiting some time in the near Future! Thank you again! 😊
Lissy T — Google review
This museum is great it gives a great insight into the inclined plane that used to be here, its such a shame that it was scrapped in 1928

Antique store
Church Street Antiques, Home & Gifts is a must-visit for antique enthusiasts. The shop offers a mix of old British finds on the first and third floors, while the second floor features contemporary home goods, some locally made. Visitors can find treasures like vintage double decker buses and refurbished leather handbags. The store has an eclectic mix of beautiful items that evoke nostalgia and childhood memories. Customers appreciate the friendly service from the shopkeeper and enjoy discovering unique pieces for themselves or as gifts.
This place reminds me of my childhood home growing up. It’s a treasure trove. The pieces are an eclectic mix of beautiful form and function. I’m really very happy Market Harborough finally has a centrally located antique shop with a happy, helpful and smiling shopkeeper.

When exploring the vibrant café culture of Market Harborough, Aldwinckles Coffee House stands out as a must-visit destination. Tucked away in a charming alley off Church Street, this delightful spot offers a warm and inviting atmosphere with friendly staff ready to serve you. The menu features an array of delicious options, from toasted ciabattas and jacket potatoes to an impressive selection of homemade cakes that cater to various dietary preferences, including vegan and gluten-free choices.
A lovely little find. We popped in here for lunch and really enjoyed our visit. It's very small but quaint and cosy. Delicious food and a good selection. The coffee was great too.

We had a lovely brunch for Mothers day. The staff are so accommodating and the food is lovely! Highly recommend. We were also able to reserve a table and the courtyard is Pet friendly. Thank you!

Highly recommend the cream cheese topped sourdough toast. This place not only prepares delicious meals, it feels like a luxurious experience without the fluff. Will come back for brunch 🥰

We chose Aldwinckles for our small wedding reception. I saw photos of the courtyard online and the venue is so “instagrammable” that I had to have our party there. Moragh was incredible. She is super responsive and made sure everything was well planned out and organised. Nothing was too much bother! There was extra attention to detail decorations which we really appreciated. We had private hire of the coffee house with afternoon tea and a variety of drinks. It was very reasonably priced. Our guests commented how lovely the afternoon tea was. The sandwiches were well received and cakes homemade. The drinks flowed and were quickly topped up. Everything was perfect and I recommend Aldwinckles as a intimate wedding and party venue.

Aldwinckles Coffee House is a little gem in Market Harborough that you do not want to miss! It is nestled in a little covered courtyard, with an indoor space too. The little courtyard is my favourite spot: during the winter it is truly magical, and in summer you feel transported. The iced coffee is perfect, and the vegan and gluten free options for the cakes are truly wonderful, the hardest part is which one to choose!! Loveliest and most welcoming staff, a place to return to again and again.
Angela S — Google review
Yummy food, friendly service, sparkling strawberry wine highly recommended! 😍
Lily M — Google review
The food was fairly decent, however, the coffee was incredibly disappointing. The taste was noticeably underwhelming and lacked any complexity, to add insult to injury, it was made using a touch-button machine. Despite this, it was charged at a barista-level price of £5, which felt like an absolute rip-off. Overall, it was a thoroughly underwhelming experience and I do not plan on returning. For a truly good cup of coffee in the area, I would highly recommend The Garage Bakery, where you can enjoy a handcrafted coffee with incredible flavour at the same price point.

First visit to Aldwinkles today and will certainly be back. We only had the breakfast ciabatta roll but was tasty and fresh with good quality bacon and sausage and nice touch of a small glass jar of sauce. Nicest coffee we’ve had in a while and was piping hot! Lovely, friendly, fast service and attentive staff, clean and tidy and a lovely welcome (compared to another newly opened coffee shop in Harborough where the staff ignored us and miserable!) a credit to the owners!

Beautiful and very colourful shop like just spring arrived. I was just passing by but ended up with some shopping. Very nice variety and they have rang of kitchen stuff. Pocket friendly prices and good quality stuff. Staff was cool and ready to help. Happily give 5stars.

A fantastically kitted out and open planned shop with everything you need to cook up a tasty treat. My parents purchase from here regularly and there has recently been an exetension to what was the old Colemans that shut down. Dog friendly, this place also now offers live cooking and I indulged in some noodles and corrinader. Very good!!!!

Cafe
Nestled in the heart of Welland Park, The Cafe Welland Park is a delightful gem that truly stands out in Market Harborough. With its spacious wooden tables and beautifully decorated interior, it offers a warm and inviting atmosphere perfect for gathering with friends or enjoying some quiet time. The outdoor seating area provides a serene escape where you can soak up the park's joyful ambiance.
Harborough, as we all know, has A LOT of cafes and coffee spots. It's always my preference to support the small independent establishments, and fortunately, we've spoilt for choice in that department. This was my first visit to the cafe at Welland Park, which is something of a hidden gem! Unless you're a regular visitor to the park, you might not know about this lovely little cafe. But after seeing a post on Instagram, I thought it was time for a visit. It was quite busy when I arrived, and it was a bit of a chilly day, so I was glad to get a table inside. I ordered a coffee, which was really good. But it was the main dish - a potato rosti with bacon, poached egg and tomato relish - that got top marks from me. It was one of the tastiest things I've eaten at a cafe in ages. I hope this new dish stays on the menu, because it will definitely entice me back again!
Kate A — Google review
Top service, great staff! The best cafe in Market Harborough. Definitely has the best coffee, cakes and food! One of the cleanest food places in Market Harborough. Dog friendly as well. But you cannot sit inside with a dog and you have to have your dog on its lead whilst ordering. Best bacon and brie in the Midland's! All the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcomed. One of the jewels of Market Harborough. The food that is served is of an incredibly high quality and standard. The presentation is top notch. You pay a premium but it is definitely worth it. I will definitely revisit when I move. The only bad thing is that when it's busy you may have to wait but it's definitely worth the wait.
Daniel M — Google review
What a gorgeous place, spotlessly clean and welcoming. A red hot June day, and everyone's baking hot, but nobody was flagging here! Excellent service and gorgeous surroundings. The food was excellent, cakes to die for and coffee good quality - can't wait to come to try breakfast I shall certainly recommend, we'll done!
Kristina P — Google review
This is the kind of place you can only dream of: the interior has spacious wooden tables to gather around or work for, with beautiful new decorating throughout, the outdoor space is the most meditative spot, and it is located in Welland Park, one of the most joyful and friendly park you can visit. The coffee at The Cafe @ Welland Park is perfect, and the food quality is excellent. But it is the staff that makes it such a fantastic experience. Highly recommend for a break during the day, my favourite place to gather my thoughts. Did I mention the amount of friendly dogs you will most certainly encounter? A must visit!
Angela S — Google review
Great cappuccino, fantastic selection of very tasty cakes. You can't take your dog inside, however there is a roofed terrace outside with nice tables and blankets to keep your knees warm. So, you can enjoy a picnic with your pooch, even when it's raining (which it was today)!! Very, very friendly and efficient service from the staff, who brought our drinks out to us. AND just to tip it off we saw a kingfisher by the river 😁😁
Kelly R — Google review
I have had just a cup of coffee twice at this cafe, so can't comment on the food...and it was just a cup of coffee with no saucer! What sort of enterprise serves a coffee with no saucer?!😳 Another thing was I forgot treats for my dog. I was told I could purchase a sausage but they didn't have treats to offer him.☹️ This is a cafe in a park where there are many dogs. People are buying lunch, drinks and cake a plenty. Would it not be too much for the cafe to offer the dogs free treats??
Peter S — Google review
The staff were amazing and the sandwich I ordered was delicious (thick slices not thin "hovis" slices). It hit the spot. Will be visiting again soon.

Don't bother trying to redeem your subway points, they say that your card doesn't show on their system even though they can print a receipt which shows your point balance. Very interesting... Reading the reviews other people have also had this issue. Maybe because letting you redeem your points doesn't let them make any money?
Ellie F — Google review
I don’t leave bad reviews generally but honestly this place is a joke. When I went in the guy wasn’t making any sandwiches but he started rushing me even with no one in the shop. I asked for tuna which he put a tiny scoop on my 6 inch and spread it on half of the sandwich and put it in the toaster oven without asking me. The only good part of this subway was the price which wasn’t as bad as other ones I’ve been to

Just had an issue with a woman who works here at the Market Harborough branch who didn’t let us leave our parking spot, we beeped to get her attention but she interpreted it as aggression, we understand not everyone has the capacity. She parks right in front, leaves her car, doesn’t even turn around to apologise and walks straight into subway to work. I called to explain that a parked indicating car should go first so she can have plenty of space to park - unsurprisingly she cut me off. Just says everything really. It’s a good thing word of mouth works stronger. Thankyou for your reply - You are displaying support of your rude staff, and it’s nice to see no replies to other low star reviews which are to do with food and service

Italian restaurant
Veneto, an Italian restaurant, offers a delightful selection of gluten-free dishes, including handcrafted pizzas and delectable pasta with gluten-free penne. While they could expand their dessert options for those with dietary restrictions, the overall dining experience is exceptional. The service is outstanding and the staff always impresses with their attentiveness. Additionally, the portion sizes are generous; the side garlic bread is notably enormous.
We called in for dinner without a reservation. The menu is extensive and the food very good. The tables are relatively close together so private conversation would be a challenge.

The perfect little Italian restaurant we love to dine in when away for an overnighter.. a family type run restaurant.. more authentic. Welcomed even though most of the tables were reserved..we were early and hadn't pre-booked.. so no problem getting served thankfully. Lovely menu.. we had the spicy king prawns for starters and brushetta. Then the gluten free based sea food pizza 🍕 and spicy calzone..finished with a tiramisu and bottle of Rose .. definitely return when next in Market Harborough.. our first visit to the town..lovely people and beautiful place!

Graham W — Google review
Been here a few times when passing through it's a very casual pizza parlour type Italian. The food is reasonably priced for what it is on a lunch deal but a lot of it is a very basic menu so don't expect really good quality italian restaurant because this is not it and i have eaten in a lot of italian restaurants this place is mostly some pasta, pizza and couple of chicken dishes. Pizzas are ok not typical Italian though, some of the pasta dishes are hit and miss. Had a chicken penne with masala sauce that was quite nice, the baked chicken pasta is ok too but their spaghetti Bolognese was awful it was watery with no flavour just very bland it tasted and looked like one of the very cheap end basic microwave meals you get and i cook spag bol a lot and my one is full of rich flavours but this was a huge let down. The restaurant itself could do with a make over it's worn and out dated. I still think it's ok for a quick lunch visit but just don't expect too much. Staff are pleasant though.

Pub
Nestled in the heart of the countryside, The Bell Inn is a charming traditional pub that promises a delightful dining experience. I recently visited for lunch with friends and was so impressed by the quality of food that I decided to book it for a larger family gathering. The attention to detail was remarkable; Carol reached out to clarify our pre-ordered meals, ensuring everything was perfect. The atmosphere at The Bell Inn is warm and inviting, making it an ideal spot for family get-togethers.
We came to The Bell for lunch on Saturday and to reminisce. My dad, Peter Elliott, used to play darts here with a local, David Illson, 50 plus years ago. A lovely customer remembered them and chatted with us about them and the darts - thank you! The food was delicious - we all had the Gumley Smokies - a very generous portion! Atmosphere and service also first class. Thank you.

A very friendly pub. Sunday dinner was good, personally the meat could have been rarer but I know that it’s my preference. The dinner portions were good and the deserts were very big and tasty. It’s dog friendly too. They would have had a five star if the language of some of the drinkers at the bar had been better. I appreciate that people swear but every other word and when there are children about I believe that it should be stopped.

We really enjoyed our ‘Pie Night’ meal here. Superb homemade pies with shortcrust pastry topping, we opted for mash and veg, plus the meal came with its own pot of gravy too. Generous portions, great food, lovely staff and atmosphere, plus you can bring your dog too (eating in the bar area only). Highly recommend, we will most definitely be eating here again.

We had heard this pub was good for food so booked a table for three of us mid week, lunchtime. The food was lovely so we decided it might be a good venue for my birthday meal. So we took the plunge, and booked a table for 12. It was the attention to detail that impressed us as we had pre-ordered our food and were then contacted by Carol who needed clarification on one of the choices. The whole experience of the afternoon was wonderful. The beautiful country pub, the friendly atmosphere. excellent staff, and the home cooked food was exceptional. We spent a lovely relaxed afternoon eating, drinking, and chatting. Highly recommended and will most definitely be back!

Enjoyed a nice family get together with mains and deserts, food was home cooked, good quality, well presented with friendly customer service. Gumley Smokies were very tasty, individual home cooked pie was well filled with sauce and ingredients topped with a golden short crust pastry. Deserts were also well made and presented. Coffees were hot and finished the meal off nicely. The Bell is a nice old traditional country pub and has a nice relaxing ambience. Couldn't fault any of it, will go again and happy to recommend

We enjoyed a very tasty meal when we stopped in on the way to watch rugby in Leicester. We were greeted by the friendly staff and received prompt service in this pub. The prices were reasonable and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. We would definitely return again.

We always visit The Bell when we visit Foxton, lovely village pub we booked in Tuesday and the food was amazing on Wednesday we were booked elsewhere but due to quality of the food we left and went back to The Bell as we knew we wouldn’t be disappointed. Staff are so friendly and welcoming. The steaks are amazing

Day 2

West side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the west side side of town. Start the day off with Rockingham Castle, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to The Village (The Eco Village). All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Rockingham Castle is a historic royal stronghold with Tudor chambers and grand halls, offering various events and private rental options. The castle sits atop an escarpment, commanding stunning views over the Welland Valley and five counties. Its 18-acre formal gardens feature a 17th-century yew hedge, vibrant rose garden, and a wild garden boasting over 200 tree and shrub species.
Interesting place to visit, only able to see certain parts of the castle due to it being a private home. Amazing gardens and walks. Would highly recommend to others.

Well worth a visit. A little if history here and some gorgeous rooms to see. The gardens still had a little if colour and beautifully laid out. Spectacular views.

Local History Northamptonshire is a hive of english history. Naseby, Holdenby house, Fotheringgay, Althorpe house Boughton house, Rockingham castle, the list goes on an amazing morning early afternoon at this beautiful castle and grounds are picturesque and well maintained, the Easter egg hunt at the castle was fun for the whole family. Easy parking and access, polite and friendly staff, and some really knowledgeable guides in rooms around the house, no pictures inside ad this is not allowed and some areas off limits as a family still lives here. Definitely worth a visit, and they also do events, we have been to a previous Viking one, which was spectacular, with village setup with crafts, dressing up and historical dress. 100 % recommended

Hidden gem. Passed this place on the way to the industrial estate and returned another day to have a wander around. Really helpful parking volunteer, never seen a field so perfectly uniform and she directed us to the disabled spaces. Walking tours for all ages, and considerate of people's speed. Very prepared woman had brought a stool for stationary history talks. Like most heritage sites there is alot of gravel, uneven antique stone floors; however as long as my fellow visitors was supported it was easy to get around. Inside a very knowledgeable gentleman, with an added bonus of Charles Dickens ties (I will not spoil it for you). Nice tea room, helpful and polite staff (Vegan and gluten free options). Gift shop with plenty for children. Obviously a well loved family home. Would recommend. Stunning unimpeded views of the countryside and neighboring church.

We only visited the gardens the time, but they are worth visiting, there’s more to see then you realise, that are fantastically kept, and the view over the Welland valley is stunning. Definitely going back. Shame it’s only open two days a week Sundays and Tuesdays.

Had a great stop off here to have lunch and drinks before we finished our journey, story of this castle is really interesting and very worth doing the tour

Only open Tuesdays and weekends during summer season. Check it's open prior to your visit. Fair slope from car park to castle.

Had a great time here, Castle is gorgeous and feels very homely and welcoming, gardens are amazing as are views out over the adjacent church and valley. Lunch in the Walkers house tea room was great , food lovely and great cakes. Guidebook is well worth the money as very informative and brilliantly photographed.

Dingley Races is a charming and quintessentially English horseracing event. The well-organized and maintained circuit offers a good view of the races, with stalls selling beautiful handmade items. While some visitors wish for more races and lower prices, the overall experience is described as amazing and enjoyable for those who appreciate horseracing. It's recommended to arrive early to secure the best viewing spot at the top of the hill for Point-to-Point races.
A superb venue for watching P2P's. Get there early for the best view at the top of the hill...

Love the place, great fir a family day out but a few issues, need to replace the wooden rails that have been creosoted about 400 times with something more modern and sturdy, also perhaps its time to build an actual clubhouse/weighing room rather than the patched up shed and could we consider a seating area somewhere near the trade stands? Both me and my dad have medical issues and there aren't many places one can take a load off and walking up and down a steep hill to the car in order to do so is not great
Jonathan A — Google review
As everyone else has said, it was excellent weather; but £15 per adult entrance to find no horses running..... It turned into a very expensive picnic location. I have been attending for over 30 years, but this was a poor show for the entrance cost. It was however, brilliantly set up and a good day out. Perhaps a partial refund on exit would have been in order?
Niko S — Google review
Great days racing , and good facilities ,and amenities. Not the organisers fault but some behaviour from a certain sets of race goers was disappointing . To be elbowed out of the way in the beer tent , whilst with children was surprising. Must have been desperate for a drink ! Otherwise a very enjoyable day .
Dawn W — Google review
Very disappointed when I turned up and told the card machine was not available, yet. It cleared me out of cash for the 5 of us. Unfortunately, in the 1st race a horse was destroyed. We were all sad from then on and left early. Nobody's fault but spoilt it.
Simon P — Google review
A day to enjoy at a point to point race meeting. Various catering outlets plus a mobile bar and various stalls reminiscent of a small country show.
Henry C — Google review
Very disappointing day out. Never more than 3 horses running at one time. Last race was actually cancelled. Commentator was not loud and clear enough. Go every year and this one was the worse not even worth betting on a race with 3 horses running. Organisation was good. Weather was the best part of the day. To top it all was £15 per person entry fee I’m sure this is the most expensive entry fee we have paid. Would have been ok if all the horses had been running.

The Village, also known as The Eco Village, is a charming destination in Harborough that offers a delightful shopping experience. Visitors can explore an impressive selection of sustainable products from local artisans and independent traders. The village features a cafe serving delicious vegan food made with fresh produce from Eco Fresh. Additionally, the friendly staff are dedicated to reducing plastic waste and offer helpful advice on eco-friendly living.
What a fantastic place to shop and a real jewel in Harborough's crown. An amazing array of sustainable products from local, independent traders and the incredible food from Two Old Goats with fresh produce from Eco Fresh. Together with Refill Revolution, the friendly and insightful staff are so helpful and are always happy to offer advice and tips to reduce plastic waste. Shop, enjoy a coffee and some lunch or just soak up the relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Great place for a lovely vegan lunch. There's always a good choice and the cakes are delicious. The tea is proper loose leaf and the prices are very reasonable and you can browse the craft section whilst eating!

Super local produce, lots of vegan food, but you can get cows milk for tea & coffee. Very reasonable prices and a very easy, short walk from the main shopping area.

We moored in the Market Harborough basin and I cycled here with my containers to refill in the shop. Was really impressed with the ethos and welcome here. I travel around the canal network and make a point of stopping where there are refill shops and this is a gem. Bonus was the scrummy lunch from the cafe. It's a joy to eat fresh, tasty, vegetarian (vegan) food cooked by someone else. Thank you.

Love the Eco Village and it's ethos. A nice place to shop for gifts like jewellery. Also has a large refill shop (bring your own containers to help out even more). I also love the community fridge. We need to ensure people use it (whether to donate or to take food) for it to reach it's full potential.

This is a really special place to come and visit. It's cute and quaint with loads of homemade products and foods. I could have spent ages in here just looking around and talking to the bubbly staff members. All the staff are so lovely, friendly and accommodating. My girlfriend and I arrived about half an hour before they shut, but they still asked how we were doing and were more than happy to serve us food and coffee. The food was delicious and fresh, fragrant and healthy and also very reasonably priced. We have no complaints and will definitely be back again 😄

Friendly staff with a variety of things on sale. The bakery in particular was great! When we were there they had two gentlemen playing music in the restaurant/seating area which was lovely. Only issue is there is limited parking...but I suppose an EcoVillage shouldn't really be promoting driving anyway!

If you're looking for a delightful dining experience, Mezzo is the place to be! Recently, I had the pleasure of celebrating my daughter's 30th birthday there. The service was exceptional; our attentive server went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and even assisted with setting up our tables upstairs. The food was simply delicious, making the wait worthwhile despite the restaurant being busy. Mezzo also excels in takeout options.
I have eaten in and had takeaway. Every time I am never disappointed and left thinking when can we go again. We are lucky to have so many nice restaurants in Market Harborough, Mezzo is definitely one of my favorites.
Dan C — Google review
Had a takeaway for the first time in a couple of years. Have to say it was very disappointing and nowhere near the standard we have had previously, both in the restaurant and at home. The halloumi grill was particularly poor, being nothing but a few lumps of halloumi, bread, cold chips and a sad salad. Meat in the special was also not up to the usual standard. Value for money was terrible. Really disappointing as we have always had great meals here in the past.
Joff B — Google review
Love it here! Have had takeaways as well as dining-ins here since it opened and the quality is consistently good, food is fresh and the service is faultless - staff are friendly and helpful. Really good asset for our town. Weekday offers are available which is unbeatable value. (If I had to critique anything at all, the falafel recipe could be tweaked as they can be a bit dry and crunchy!)

Visited for the first time on Friday for a birthday meal, ordered again on Sunday! Sooo good. We ordered the sharing platter and it was equally as delicious as it was in the restaraunt. The servers were fantastic too. Definitely a hidden gem in Market Harborough!

Had a table booked for 7. Order by 7.10. Starters didn't come until 7.50 and means at 8.30. There was only 4 tables in use in the restaurant. But uber eats and other online delivery companies coming and going the whole time. They prioritise these above the customers in the restaurant. Staff where nice and friendly. Food was alright bland boring nothing exciting had better kebabs from my local kebab house.

New place, clean n tidy. Very beautifully decorated for my taste. Lovely people n good food😊😊😊😊 We had our first take away from yours today. N we loved it honestly 😍😍😍. Will definitely come again. N we do recommend your grill special. Quite big portion for me 😉😉😉

Mezzo made ordering easy to order with payment online, with a prompt follow-up call to tell me when my food would be ready for collection. On arrival our meals were well-packaged in non-plastic cartons and stayed hot until we arrived home (approx 5 minutes away). Each meal was delicious, with tender chunks of meat and well-balanced flavours that left the whole party feeling satisfied. A terrific meal and we will definitely be returning!

This used to be one of the best restaurants in Market Harborough I even had my stag do there. Unfortunately its gone down hill since then. It's just more like a sit in kebab house now and the menu is very limited. The food although nice is not nearly as good as it was. We went on a Friday night and it was not very busy at all. The staff were very good and tended to our needs brilliantly. We used to order a takeaway sharing meal but the last few times we had it, it seemed smaller. We have decided to go elsewhere next time sorry to say.

Families will appreciate the outdoor area equipped with a climbing frame for children to play, ensuring everyone has a great time. The Roebuck also boasts easy wheelchair access, making it inclusive for all visitors.
We had a fantastic evening at The Roebuck! From the warm atmosphere to the impeccable service, everything exceeded expectations. Our server, Alex, was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and seemingly one step ahead of our needs. He made us feel truly looked after throughout the entire meal. So much so that we spoke to Rich the manager and expressed our gratitude for them both. The three-course dinner, priced at just £28, was superb value. The starter was flavourful and well presented. The main course hit the spot—generous and satisfying. And of course, there was room for a cheeky dessert that rounded things off perfectly! Great food, excellent service, amble parking and a relaxed setting—this is the ideal place to unwind with friends. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a quality pub dining experience without breaking the bank.

My friend introduced me to The Roebuck as she absolutely loves it there and now so do I!! The Roebuck is a lovely place with cosy decor that really gives off an upmarket country pub feel. We’ve eaten here quite regularly and the food is great quality for a reasonable price, we always enjoy everything we eat here from the sandwiches on the lunch menu to the Sunday roast The cheesy mushroom starter is to die for as well 😍 The staff are absolutely wonderful and always so friendly and warm and Rich is fantastic. During the visit in question my friend, my partner and I attended for the Harry Potter quiz which was absolutely fantastic and so much fun. I’m really looking forward to the next themed quiz and I’m keen to try and pop down for the regular quiz night too on the basis of how fun the Harry Potter quiz was. We particularly enjoyed the special cocktails created by Alex (I think?) and being as my friend was driving it was great that some of the same cocktails could be mocktails. We arrived early before the quiz so that we could enjoy a late lunch/early dinner beforehand. We had Camembert for starter which was also absolutely fantastic and something we always enjoy followed by the aforementioned Sunday roast with a side of the cheesy mushrooms from the starter menu which were also gorgeous as always. There is a lovely outside area with comfortable seating and tables where you can eat and a play area for the kids to be enjoyed on a nice day. All in all the Roebuck is a lovely pub with great staff and delicious food that we always enjoy visiting and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Sorry I haven’t got a picture of the food I was too busy scoffing it 😂

It was a lovely evening from start to finish. There was a lovely lady on the bar who helped me with waiting as my date was running late. She was so kind, got me a drink and said to sit anywhere while I waited. When he arrived, we were shown to our table and the staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. The food was delicious and there was so much of it! We chose from the 3 course set menu and thought the portion sizes would be smaller, but they really weren't! It was such a a lovely evening, all the staff were amazing and we would definitely recommend to anyone! Thank you for a lovely evening!

Came to try Sunday lunch, disappointed in so many ways! We had two three meat roasts, so was at least expecting one decent slice from the joint of each, I would say each wasn’t even half of a slice! Menu said crackling and stuffing, there was none of either! Expected a decent portion of red cabbage as it was highlighted on the menu. It was such a paltry amount I thought it was cranberry sauce! It was ridiculously tiny! The meat was strategically placed over the root vegetables to make it look more substantial, gravy was too thick! I’m glad we had extra cauliflower cheese as I would have left feeling really hungry! The cauliflower cheese wasn’t cheesy enough. Overall the main was simply not worth £18 each, I’m glad we had a 40% off voucher, even then it wasn’t good value! Service was quite good and quick, but another downside was that nobody checked on us during the meal, if they had I would have complained about the lack of stuffing and crackling, maybe the waiting staff knew and avoided this professional etiquette? I will not be back!
Techmarkie — Google review
Lovely service, beautiful decor and atmosphere. Very good food at reasonable prices. Clean tidy modern toilets which is always a big plus in my eyes. We had to hunt staff down to get our bill and didn’t get checked on for drinks - it’s not a big deal but it would be a nice touch. It’s probably mainly because we wrapped up in under one hour - bit quick for a dinner. I would definitely love to come back soon and will recommend you guys to my friends.

First visit for me with my partner for food and drinks and we will definitely be returning again!! Food was so so good, service was fast and the staff created a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. All the staff we spoke to were amazing, but in particular we were served by the incredibly lovely Duncan, nothing was too much trouble for him and he made the effort to check back on us multiple times and make sure we had everything we needed which we really appreciated. We also had a lovely chat with the girl behind the bar (I think her name was Georgia?) and she was so smiley and bubbly - your staff are an absolute credit to your restaurant and I can't thank them enough for making our visit so special! Thank you again <3

Popped in on our travels. Lovely, clean and warm atmosphere. Served at the bar by Samantha who was knowledgeable and helpful when my husband asked for drinks recommendations. Although we didn’t eat food and just came for drinks, what we saw looked fantastic. We will definitely remember this spot if we are ever in the area again, and will be sure to have something to eat this time.

Fast food restaurant
The fast food eatery KFC Corby - Oakley Road is well-known for its signature fried chicken served in buckets, along with a variety of combo meals and accompanying sides. The restaurant has been praised for its cleanliness and offers ample seating options. Although there have been occasional frustrations with missing items when ordering delivery, the overall quality of the food is usually satisfying. Its iconic meals make it a popular choice for customers, ensuring their return to this standard KFC establishment.
Had a boneless sharing box today with my partner. Chips and sides were fine, chicken was awful. The topping was burnt and only just warm. Don't think I'll bother again.
Sam C — Google review
Had a sit in meal with my husband yesterday. We both had meal deals which were £10 ish each. Chips on both were good. Chicken was dry and hard and his gravy was like water. Staff were miserable and looked as if they didn’t want to be there. Not one single smile from them and the only communication was to call out our order number. Very disappointing!

The worst worst KFC ever, I ordered extra wings this is the wings size and the taste is yuukk worst taste. Never ever recommend this, over cooked dry worst taste.

Got food poisoning here. Had stopped ordering here due to the inconsistency so decided to give the place another try. Chicken was dark, greasy and it had a funny smell closer to the bone. Was sick a few hours after eating the chicken. Im really shocked how this place even has a 5 star hygene rating, absolutely filthy.

This place is an absolute JOKE. How is it still opened. So, I went a year ago, and the food was wrong missing items... So I went back last night, and now I wish I never went. What they do just put the gravy into the bag as that's what it was like and the pot sitting on top. Two pieces of chicken are missing in the bucket. And thought I'd try the new burger with stuffing. Dam, the stuffing was so dry. When I opened the burger, it wasn't even stacked it was all over the place in the box. Stevie wonder must of put my food together. Yeah, definitely AVOID this place and spend your money somewhere else.

We came for Hahaharborough during the Leicester Comedy Festival. The four acts were all really good. The venue was perfect for this type of event and the staff behind the bar were very welcoming and chatty. Will definitely return soon to enjoy and support live theatre.
Glenn B — Google review
We go to the Harborough theatre as often as we can with our friends as we really enjoy the plays. It’s a lovely little theatre, the players as all volunteers and there is real talent among them. We always have a nice social drink before the performance and always order drinks for the half time. We recently attended a performance of “The Anniversary “ and had our usual drink before the performance but I’m afraid we will not be supporting the bar staff the next time we go. My husband ordered a gin and tonic which was waiting for me at half time. To call it a gin and tonic was a joke. The amount of gin that was in the glass would not have filled a thimble. I suggest, if the theatre serves drinks they should invest in a measuring cup at least and not just pour the spirit into the glass. There is no way there was a pub measure in my glass but we paid pub price for it. We wanted to complain but the bar was rammed and could not get anywhere near. I suggest to anyone attending a performance and wanting a half time drink. Do not pre-order and check the amount that is poured to them.
Pauline P — Google review
We watch Dracula The A-musical which was funny and lively. The way this company use/manage their stage and sets is very clever, the costumes are great too. We very impressed by all the little details around the theatre and reception area which brings the patrons into the show and sets the mood. Highly recommend.

This is a sweet retro place - with the old-fashioned "linked" theatre seating. This made it a bit of a squeeze for my long legs so will ensure I opt for an aisle seat next time.
Mike M — Google review
Have been a member of the theatre for over a year now and enjoyed every show. Just been to see Closer and what a professional show, difficult to believe that everyone involved is a volunteer. Acting, sound and lights and the stage crew were as slick as anything you see in London. Excellent venue all round.

Founded by Robert Smyth, a prominent figure in the town's history, the schoolhouse has become a symbol of Market Harborough. While its interior is not generally open to the public, visitors can still admire this quirky and significant landmark from outside.
An interesting old building in the town centre that is open (underneath at least) so anybody can have a look around. It is very small, but there are plenty of details. I particularly like the new lock next to the old lock on an old door at the side. There is a Bible verse inscribed along the side of the building too.

A beautiful interesting old building in the heart of Market Harborough.

A school was founded in 1607 by Robert Smyth, a native of the town who became Comptroller of the City of London's Chamber. He left money for the education of poor children. In 1614 this schoolhouse was built, in accordance with Smyth's detailed instructions. Btw it’s small historical building sitting in middle of town centre. Anyone can have a look around it.

Came here for the start of a blue badge guided walk of Market Harborough - the meeting place was excellent and is an office at the moment as far as I believe!!

Quirky and unique medieval building set on wooden legs in the centre of Market Harborough next to St. Dionysius' Church. It dates from 1614. Has an open area underneath it and between the legs which is used as a market. The interior is not open to the public unless one applies through the Trustees. It's image has become the iconic symbol for Market Harborough.

Very interesting and well maintained Thanks

Very interesting unusual old school building. Can not be many of these in the world so go and see it if you can. It is also set in a very nice town full of interesting stuff and largely unspoiled.

Very nicely renovated, more spacious than it seems on the outside, parking is horrible but it is on the high street so what can you expect really?

Always love Churches architecture so here I am. It was open when I stepped in. No one was there and so quiet and peace inside. I like the big glass window with beautiful glass work.

Nice to have the church open and able to freely walk and relax. Very much looking forward to being able to come back again. Posted a couple of pictures . Thank you .

We attended a funeral here and despite the occasion we found the church was lovely. The minister, staff and undertakers were fantastic. Our service was well delivered and very moving considering the minister stepped in at the last minute due to a last minute change of date.

The Harborough Museum, situated in the charming town of Market Harborough, is housed in the former R & W H Symington corset factory. This unique setting offers a glimpse into the town's industrial past and showcases a variety of exhibits celebrating its rich history. The museum features displays of local interest, including the renowned Hallaton Treasure - a collection of British Iron Age coins, Roman jewelry, and a parade helmet.
A brilliant museum with so many different types of collections, so lovingly displayed. I went in early September and there was a special exhibition on around Penguin books which was a real treat. The displays on the Hallaton helmet were also a highlight.

Great little museum, modern and informative. Great little touches like extra reading material and a small play area for the kids (however most used the whole place as a playground which became annoying). Was surprised we spent over 2 hours in there, a d could have stayed longer if it hadn't closed at 4pm on a Saturday. The café downstairs was great, with massive drinks at okay prices.
Brian M — Google review
Excellent! Went to see a photographic exhibition which was superb. The museum collection on display was a complete bonus, no idea so many items originated in Market Harborough beyond corsets. Would really recommend a visit when going to Market Harborough or even just make this the focus of your visit, although the town is well worth a mooch round. Downstrs at the museum is a lovely coffee shop too. I will certainly visit again! The museum is FREE so ideal for everyone!!

Free access and really beautifully laid out and curated - a great combination of the history of the building itself, Market Harborough history and ancient Roman history - a quick and manageable visit you can do with kids of any age (and bribe them with an ice cream from Gallone’s next door!)

A museum with free entry on the FIRST FLOOR of the building. Due to renovations you currently need to go up the back stairs. There are no famous exhibits, but you can see a lot of items from the lives of local residents over the last hundred years, as if pieces of eras were piled up in the windows.

Harborough museum in market harborough is a great place to visit for people of all ages. Lots of interesting things to see and do. The museum is located well in town and you can go for a coffee and something to eat afterwards, there are plenty of coffee houses and cafes to sit in or out and watch the world go by.

The Garage Bakehouse is a delightful spot that has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Known for its scrumptious offerings, this bakery serves up an array of delicious treats, including fresh bread and mouthwatering sandwiches. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it the perfect place to enjoy a cozy meal or grab a quick bite. Many patrons rave about their flavorful options like hummus flatbreads and Bombay potatoes paired with mango chutney—each dish bursting with taste!
I absolutely love this bakery so much so I travel a 30 mile round trip just to visit here, from the coffee to all there baked goods the quality of ingredients to the professionalism and friendliness of the staff this place is 10/10!! I have been coming here for the last year and have never had a bad experience a true artisan bakery at its best.Keep doing what you are doing guys because you do it so well. I have been looking forward to trying your new pizzeria and tomorrow is the day I can't wait.
Milovan — Google review
I had great hopes for this bakery especially after reading the reviews but I was so underwhelmed. The breads are expensive with just too many faults. The white sourdough was over baked with the top being burnt. Having black bits fall off the top of the loaf when cutting is not good. The New York Deli sandwich has Great filling but the bread is tough and very chewy. I don't know whether it's an issue with the flour or over kneading but it just made the sandwich a chore to eat. The Croque Monsieur croissant was OK, but at the price it needs to be GOOD not just OK. Just a little overdone giving it too much of a caramel flavour. The crumble fruit danish was tough and chewy on the outside. The danish overall was fair but not a good flaky pastry. I really wanted to like this bakery and seeing the bakers out the back is a novelty and maybe it was just an off day but I really couldn't recommend them.

Absolutely gorgeous pastries, but if you want to sit and eat, bring a big coat as there is only a small area of outdoor seating. We just got our pastries to take away as a treat for later instead.

Excellent sourdough, exceptional pastries (had the peach custard pie and a cherry danish today)- we go without fail when we are here visiting my mum and these guys are doing something worth talking about and coming back for. We get very excited about good food, so, thank you!!

Simply the best coffee shop in harborough! We had a New York deli sandwich and Croque monsieur croissant of which each big was better than the last. Absolutely fabulous coffee too. Service was notably lovely too. Quirky in the fact you order from a hatch in the wall but it still provides that true comforting coffee shop feel. Truly couldn’t recommend more.

Brilliant. Love this place. Everything here is excellent, the coffee, cakes, sandwiches, everything tastes amazing. Real asset to the town. Staff are great

Easily the best coffee in Market Harborough, I just really wish they would open an inside somewhere to sit in :( in this warmer weather it’s ok, but after parkrun on a Saturday, I don’t want to walk around with a coffee. They would do so well keeping this as a hatch & opening a coffee house in town

With its inviting atmosphere and friendly service, it's an ideal choice for families and friends looking to enjoy delicious food together.
Great food and excellent service. The menu has a wide choice of dishes. I've been a couple of times, and all food has been excellent, especially the pizzas. Highly recommended.

We visited for dinner and whilst it all tasted fine, the restaurant is lovely and the staff were very attentive, I’m sorry to say that we felt that it was slightly overpriced. Our total came to just under £33 per head, including a small tip, for a starter, pizza and large bottle of beer each, which we felt was a little too heavy what we had. Breakdown: £8.15 per 620ml bottle of Peroni beer £8.50 per bruschetta (medium sized pieces of baked pizza style bread with a few small tomatoes and diced onions in the middle and a bit of balsamic glaze over the top) £13.75 for a 9” garlic bread with cheese £15-16 per basic pizza (one of which we upgraded for £2.75 more - this was much better, aesthetically and taste wise, but it cost nearly £19) Whilst being tasty, it lacks some genuine authenticity (although as this is often the case with cuisine appropriated for the British market, it is not unusual or a major critique - the aim is to provide something that customers want, rather than a fully authentic experience). As an example, Bruschetta should only really consist of toasted bread, rubbed with fresh garlic and topped with tomatoes, salt, olive oil, topped with a little basil on top. The basic pizzas, I could not tell you what region of Italy serves this type, with the upgraded ones being a little closer to Roman style. NB. The 2 course set menu for £22.99 saves you less than £1 in most cases. It’s only really worth it if you have a dessert too. If you have 3 courses I think that it is quite good value versus ordering from the Al a carte menu. Overall, we thought that Casa Nostre provided a pleasant dining experience, with nice food and great service, but lacked some authenticity and is more expensive than other options locally.

This is now our favourite Italian! We fell in love with this place 2 weeks ago and now have been twice and ordered a takeaway too. They have the best carbanara in the area. We had been on the hunt for a delicious carbanara for a while and we are so happy to have found this place! The pizzas are really good too. When we ordered delivery, I was a little concerned about how it would arrive. However, it was fantastically hot and delicious. Can't wait to visit again soon

We have been to this restaurant before and had a lovely time which is why we booked it for us to take friends too who had travelled a long way to visit us. By the end of our meal , all we could do was apologise to them for a wasted journey. From just ordering a garlic bread which came to the table burnt to ordering a steak as a main which then got delivered to the table as a pizza, everything was to much trouble for the waitress who could only roll her eyes when we questioned these things. Embarrassing and disappointing.

Living here has always wanted to come once The price is mid-range for the area We tried their lunch on Saturday The lunch set has significantly improved the cost performance Not many menu choices But it has included the most representative food of the restaurant The first choice must be their pizza Remember to add 2.25 upgrade to crispy grande pizza because it's so delicious The whole pizza tastes very good and become lighter More delicious with chili oil Even one person can eat it all In addition, spaghetti is also very famous very strong cheese flavor Worth a try!

The worst restaurant I’ve ever been to got our sides 1st then mains then starters also didn’t even bring out half of what we ordered. And what did come was poxy portions and undercooked . And we was the only table in there would rather eat at a soup kitchen good luck to the owners gonna need it because this place won’t last

Today I visited another time this place. Food was delicious like on first visit. The atmosphere in this place is incredible, also the personnel and offered service by them is on an amazing level. I highly recommend this place for dinner.

We were sent a 241 deal and visited the local Market Harborough Wildwood. The atmosphere and layout was very welcoming with a large wood pizza oven at the end of the restaurant. I love cold beer irrespective of the weather so the frosted glasses were a very nice touch. No beer available on tap.The food was average unfortunately with the pasta a little bland and lacking the punch. My seafood risotto was much better, however there were a number of broken shells from the mussels which left a gritty taste on a few mouthfuls

Went in for dinner with my husband. Loved the ambiance. The food was good and the best p[art was the staffs are very friendly and have great attention to detail. They even customized the meal as per our requirements (added extra sauce, made it spicier). The chef and sous chef were cooking right in front of us at a big oven and we were amazed at the level of dedication and hard work they put for each meal. I wish the steak was a bit softer, but nonetheless it tasted awesome! Thank you for a lovely fine dining!

The food was absolutely delicious and the restaurant was very cute! Return visit, did not disappoint. For starters we had the garlic bread with mozzarella and caramelised onions... The best garlic bread I've ever had (!!!) - and I've been to Italy. Mains, we had spaghetti Bolognese which was simply devine. Large portion, couldn't finish it. And baked spaghetti carbonara, which was super tasty...! 10/10 and I will so be back again....!
