Hampton Court Palace, originally built for Cardinal Thomas Wolsey in the 16th century, became a royal residence when King Henry VIII confiscated it. The palace boasts Tudor and Baroque architecture and was used by British monarchs until the 18th century. Visitors can explore its numerous rooms through self-guided tours organized by themes. The palace's gardens, tennis court, and hedge maze are also popular attractions.
A huge sprawling estate which covers so much area over multiple floors. It is like a small town all tied into a single building. The building is fascinating as the walkways and rooms look like something out of a fantasy series. The history to the place is vast and very interesting, multiple stops and audio equipment will tell you what happened and how each room was used. Outside, the gardens are pristine and beautiful and the views over the Thames and external spaces are wonderful. I would highly recommend.

Hampton Court Palace is a magnificent historic site full of Tudor charm and rich history. The gardens are stunning and perfect for a leisurely walk. The palace interiors are grand, showcasing beautiful architecture and fascinating exhibitions. Staff are mostly helpful, though some areas could be improved for visitor engagement. The audio guide enhances the experience. A great day out for history lovers and families alike, though ticket prices are a bit steep

This is a great place to have a walk around, the only downside was school parties, but it wasn't too bad! There are lots of history in this place and a lot on show! We went all round the inside! Lots of artifacts dating from Henry VIII!! Even walking round the very large kitchens of Henry VIII's time was lovely to see!! Very interesting!! We will be back again to explore the gardens next time!! The staff are very knowledgeable too if you want to ask any questions!! You can also get an audio tour with headphones or wait for a guide!

Was able to visit this vast historic ground that was the Palace of King Henry Vlll some 500yrs ago. Took pictures of the ongoing renovations, the river canal with pier, the gardens Hampton Court Palace, located on the River Thames in southwest London, is one of England’s most famous royal palaces with a rich and complex history: Early History: Built in 1514 by Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, the powerful chief minister to King Henry VIII. Wolsey transformed the site into a lavish Renaissance palace, but as he fell out of favor with the king, he gifted it to Henry VIII in 1528 to avoid disgrace. Tudor Era: Henry VIII greatly expanded the palace, making it one of his main residences. He added the Great Hall, Tudor kitchens, and royal apartments. It was a favorite residence of his and played host to numerous important events, including marriages, births, and political dealings. Stuart Period: Under James I and Charles I, the palace remained a royal residence. Charles I was imprisoned at Hampton Court briefly before his execution in 1649. Baroque Transformation: In the late 1600s, William III and Mary II commissioned architect Sir Christopher Wren to modernize the palace in the Baroque style, intending to rival Versailles. Much of the Tudor palace was replaced, but the project was never fully completed, leaving a unique blend of Tudor and Baroque architecture. Later Use and Preservation: The palace ceased being a royal residence in the 18th century, though it housed grace-and-favor residents (people granted accommodation by the monarch) for many years. In the 19th century, it opened to the public as a historic site. Today Hampton Court Palace is managed by Historic Royal Palaces and is a major tourist attraction. Visitors can explore the Tudor kitchens, Haunted Gallery, maze, gardens, and royal apartments, offering insight into over 500 years of royal history.

It’s a great day out with a lot to see and do, however it was a little lacking especially when considering value for money. We went during Halloween and a lot of effort was made for that which was great. The cafes served good food was a good selection but was on the pricey side! Facilities were good and staff were friendly and helpful. They have. Car park but you have to get there early, we just kissed out but there is car parking at the train station just over the bridge.
Rakesh P — Google review
Really disappointed in this whole experience. We went on a Friday, it was pretty busy but not entirely unexpected. We felt like there was a lot of emphasis put on Henry VIII's palace, however, there seemed little reference to him living there overall. There wasn't any atmosphere and a lot of rooms were empty - it just looked quite empty overall. It was also extremely hot inside, and the lack of airflow was stifling. We thought it would be a loy more regal and extravagant than what was on offer. We were extremely disappointed to learn that the banqueting hall and other areas are currently closed to the public. Bearing in mind our tickets were £80.00 for 3 adults, we didn't feel that we got overall value for money. The gift shop was much of a muchness, usual expensive crap made in China. The cafe was ridiculously expensive for the quality of food on offer, and flies were crawling all over the food on display which had not been covered up. The vegetable patch and gardens were fabulous and the highlight of the day, the exterior architecture is fabulous aside from that, thoroughly disappointed. The staff were also grumpy and not very forthcoming in sharing and tips or highlights, and we were made to feel an inconvenience for asking questions.

This was my first visit to Hampton Court Palace and if I'm ever in the area again it won't be my last. Make sure you set aside the full day to make sure you see everything. There is do much to do, see, read and eat. The history behind this Palace takes you back centuries. The staff are always willing to answer any questions you may have. I would advise you to book your tickets in advance.
Susan O — Google review
Wonderful day. You can spend anywhere between 2 and 6 hours and on my third visit I spent the latter, and finally appreciated every corner! The palace is good, and the gardens are fantastic. Lots of incredible art too, including two from Caravaggio, 12 or so just from Canaletto, then Rembrandt, Gentileschi, Mantegna, Holbein, and many more!

Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex is a state-of-the-art facility that offers a variety of sports and leisure activities. It features a gym, sports hall, swimming pool, squash courts, classes, swim lessons, indoor climbing wall, health and fitness suite, aerobic studios, children's play area and indoor bowls hall.
When we visit friends in Walton (we live in Nth Cal.) , the leisure center is a Great place for a workout and a swim. You can even go for a run along the river to Weybridge which is delightful in summer time. Lots of options at this facility.
Simon I — Google review
Been coming here for 6 months now, the facilities are good with a big gym and classes are quite easy to get into which is a big plus. However, the gym is too hot - the best gyms are cold to come into as you’re able to train harder for longer. After 20 minutes here I often find myself too hot to train as hard as I know I’m able to. I can feel the AC is on but it really needs to be powered up. I’m guessing this is a design issue as there’s an open balcony to the climbing wall & downstairs. Besides this the public toilets (the ones you have access to if you just have the £600 annual membership fee, rather than the one over £700) are usually smelly/dirty & lack sanitary bins. I know they’ve a lot of cleaners in here which is great but I think it’s a foot fall to toilet ratio issue. Too many people, not enough loos. I’ve often had to go in after a man whose urine I then have to wipe off a toilet seat before I can use it. Considering this isn’t a cheap membership I’m disappointed at what this place could be in comparison to what it actually is. I doubt I’ll be renewing next year
Becky L — Google review
Disappointed with Customer Service I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Xcel Leisure Centre today. My padlock was broken, and all my belongings were removed from my locker without any prior warning. I understand policies are in place, but the way this was handled was unacceptable. When I approached the manager, Jaime, to discuss the situation, she was rude and completely unhelpful. Instead of offering a reasonable solution or even basic customer service, I was met with dismissiveness. She refused to even give me a padlock just for the day to keep my staff safe and locked until I finished workout. So I had to risk and leave my staff unlocked. Spoke with other members of the gym and they told me there was no signs and reminders that they were going to do that as a result a replacement padlock was given to them but my case was totally different! And when I came back to the reception to mention that they told me they didn’t have to do that. A little courtesy and communication would have gone a long way. Very disappointing!! Also to mention my body serum oil was missing! I’ve been a loyal member, but this experience has made me reconsider. I hope the management improves how they handle these situations in the future.

I’ve had a truly fantastic experience at Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex. From the moment I joined, the staff were friendly, helpful, and always professional. The gym facilities are excellent and well-maintained, offering a great variety of equipment to suit all fitness levels. The pool is spacious and clean, making every swim relaxing and enjoyable. What I’ll miss the most is the upstairs health suite , it’s immaculately clean, peaceful, and the perfect space to unwind after a workout. The atmosphere at the centre has always been welcoming, and the team clearly takes pride in providing a high-quality experience for all members. Though I’m now relocating permanently overseas, I leave with nothing but gratitude and fond memories of my time at the centre. Thank you to the entire team for making it such a positive part of my routine. Highly recommended! Syed ZDeeee

I’ve been using Xcel Leisure in Walton for the past six months and really hoped it would be a reliable, well-run gym — but it’s been a let-down from the start. The facilities have potential, especially the health suite, which is what originally drew me in. Unfortunately, it’s been closed more often than it’s been open. I’ve turned up several times to find it shut with no warning — no emails, no app notifications, just a sign on the door. It’s currently closed yet again after already being partly shut for two weeks. It was meant to be a five-day job, but as usual, there’s been no communication or apology. Cleanliness is another problem. The health suite and changing rooms constantly smell damp and unpleasant. Cleaning is done in the middle of opening hours, making it hard to use the space — and the cleaning staff themselves are often rude and dismissive. They carry on loud conversations with customers in spaces that are supposed to be calm and quiet, which really undermines the experience. Customer service is just as frustrating. Staff at the front desk don’t seem equipped to help and usually shift the blame to someone else — usually the marketing team — for not updating members. When you ask to speak to a manager, you’re just met with another junior staff member who can’t do anything either. The default response is to refer you to the terms and conditions, rather than actually listening or showing any understanding of how this affects paying members. It’s clear that the company behind Xcel isn’t interested in whether people actually enjoy using the facilities — only that they keep signing people up. There’s no sense of accountability, no care for loyal customers, and no urgency to fix repeated issues. I originally switched to Xcel after having problems with Places Leisure in Staines, but unfortunately the same issues have followed me here. It’s incredibly disappointing, especially when memberships aren’t cheap. I wouldn’t recommend it.

If you love paying for time I don't get to use, this place is for you! If you book an indoor court, enjoy spending the first 10 minutes cleaning up equipment left from the previous booking, because, who needs staff right? Thinking of booking an evening slot on a 3G pitch? Bring a torch. The incompetent management & staff are too lazy or too busy on their phones to turn the floodlights on.
Greg — Google review
Brought the kids to do a climbing wall taster session. Dave was fantastic and patient in training and working with them. Great experience and hope to be back soon!
Ashley B — Google review
Poor management looking after the 3G pitches. I play with my mates weekly an I have an evening slot allocated and there is an ongoing issue with the floodlights not being turned on on time which leaves us playing in very dark conditions. This issue has been reported to the Hub on several occasions but nothing has been done so far.

Everyman Walton is a unique cinema that mainly showcases arthouse films and offers various special events such as Q&As, live screenings, and even a baby club. Visitors praise the compact, cozy, and stylish atmosphere of the cinema, which provides an intimate viewing experience akin to a private screening. The seating consists of comfortable sofas with food and drink served directly to your seat by attentive staff. The menu offers a wide range of options to cater to different tastes.
The perfect location when it is movie night. Comfy sofas and arm chairs with luxury food and wine or cocktails. We had the vegan pizza, hummus with flatbread and tortilla chips with guacamole. All fresh and delicious. So have a look and see what films are coming up and be sure to book your seat. You wont be disappointed and your feet won't stick to the floor as it is comfy carpet 😉

Booked for 2:30pm today to watch the new lilo and stitch movie got there right room right floor right time and we walked in as the film finished so i go on my email to triple check everything was right and said tickets have expired as film finished. Absolutely fuming and no refund policy either so would recommend you pay up front so you dont get messed about!

Overall: ★★★★★ A premium cinema experience in super comfortable seating with premium drinks Anna snacks. Food: Mixed snacks (hot and cold) What I liked: • Excellent customer service • Nice range of high quality snacks • Decent wine she cocktail list using premium brands (Sipsmith etc) • Comfy seating • Really nice ambiance • Reasonable ticket prices What I didn’t like: • No cloakroom! Need somewhere to leave coats • Portion sizes (eg guac or salsa whilst really good quality they are way too small for the price) £5.95 • Wine by the glass also too expensive eg a glass of Norton Malbec for £12.50! You can buy a bottle for that so not good value at all Do I recommend going? YES Will I go again? YES Was it good value? NO Price Point: $$

When I moved to walton I was excited to see the Everyman. Compared to the other everyman cinemas walton seems to miss some of the more interesting productions, why is that? Also, I've never yet seen a full house. It's a pricey night out and I'm assuming this is what keeps locals away, I'm not sure. I think walton everyman needs to figure out who it's there for or accept it will have to close.
Chris M — Google review
Lovely cinema. Great looking bar, amazing selection (we only had olives and popcorn), the popcorn was a bit disappointing (not warm, or particularly sweet), but did the job fine. Parking is right outside if you get there for 1730 onwards. Lovely toilets (mens loo had run out of loo roll).

Comfortable seating very attentive staff. Food was great, the watermelon cooler was fantastic!

Great cinema, lovely experience, seats are sofas, food and drink served at your seat. Small capacity makes it feel like a private screening rather than a large multiplex. Film is introduced by staff and you are thanked when leaving. This is what cinema viewing should be. Visited first time post-Covid, feels like 2019 again! Thank you Everyman Walton, well worth the extra ticket price!

Walton-On-Thames Railway Station

4.1
(685)
Walton-on-Thames Railway Station is a vital transportation hub nestled in the heart of Walton-on-Thames, providing seamless access to various destinations across Surrey and London. This well-equipped station features clean facilities, including restrooms and a cozy waiting room with heating for those chilly days. Travelers can enjoy the convenience of a staffed ticket office and functional ticket machines, ensuring an easy journey.
Station is clean and tidy, the car park is a municipal one which is very large and most days no problem about finding a place to park. They do check that cars have paid the parking fees at least a couple of times a day. Fines follow.

Cool Place off the grid with everyone on a different level of "minding their own business" to the extent that asking for assistance (directions or needed speech interlocution) feels like an inherent taboo even before you speak. But regardless, Ask for help when you've got to. It's a sign of strength!

It's a good station. Has loos and a cafe on the platform. Also a warm heated waiting room which has a heater. Also a nice over bridge with a lift for wheelchair users. m

Haven't been here for years probably 40 plus. Great station staff and shop still brilliant. Be proud apart from lottery machine not working. Cool.
Martin J — Google review
This station has a lift toilets, a cafe & a little shop, food, drinks, chocs & newspapers. Only thing that is not good you can not use contactless bank card, you have to pay your ticket or season tickets, they have machines, but can be annoying when ticket office is closed, when one prefer to talk to someone. They have started their own plastic card that you can use, like a contactless card or put your season tickets on, but not widely advertised. It took me a while to notice that they did this. Your payments for the SW contactless card are not clear on your payments. They come much later on your bank statement or sometimes a few days all together, hard to follow. I decided not to use this method to tap in & and out when I can. And just put my weekly iron monthly ticket on. Oyster has a much better system, hoping BR in the future will have a system like oyster one day.
Anna — Google review
Trains arrive, trains depart. Sometimes on time, sometimes not, but the station doesn't control that, so you can't rate it on that basis. It has toilets that have been fairly clean when I've needed to use them. The ticket machines work, there's a staffed ticket office (not so common these days) and there's screens telling you what trains are due and when. The coffee shop is good (but it's also an independent business, so not post of this rating) and there's a newsagent.
Carl B — Google review
Great station to get to Waterloo quickly but you definitely can not use contactless tap in here!

A true local gem — a family-run restaurant for over 25 years. Both the service and food are top quality. Guests can soak in the atmosphere and truly taste the love that goes into each meal. Skip the menu and focus on the specials — the list is extensive, so don’t hesitate to snap a photo before deciding of what to order. Surprisingly, the owner is a fan of rum, and his collection and knowledge are impressive. Outstanding restaurant - highly recommended to all.

Had a fabulous meal at this amazing, family run restaurant. My wife and I raided the ‘Specials’ menu, sharing Prawn starters and Monkfish for mains. We both felt nicely full without over-eating. Food was de,icious and the service was excellent - thank you Jean Phillipe and Kim for bringing a bit of France to the UK.

Exceptional place to eat! We visited on Saturday 6 September with friends and family to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday. Our experience was just superb! Exceptional food, service, atmosphere, ambience and we all had such fun! Thank you so much! We cannot wait to return! AND thank you for my recipe! Best wishes from Marcus and Dee

Visited for a friend's birthday. Food was beautiful, service impeccable. What made our visit extra special was the owner taking the time to discuss the food, wines, and spirits, and generously sharing his knowledge. It was an unexpected delight to leave having had a fantastic meal and also having learned something. And have seen the joy and pleasure they take in their business. Wonderful.

There is always a warm welcome! This family run restaurant never disappoints. The freshest fish and oysters as well as delicious meat dishes. I can’t recommend it highly enough!

Countless fairy lights illuminate this beautiful little neighbourhood gem. We were presented with stunning selection of specials and taken through where the ingredients were sourced from and how the dish was cooked. Wonderful selection of dishes on the regular menu, excellent wine list and an assortment of amazing desserts to finish. Every starter, main and dessert was prepared perfectly. I have not had a meal out like that in a very long time. Service was wonderful. Looking forward to our next visit.

We were a table of 7, a family outing and that place did not disappoint , the owner was amazing sharing the daily specials , his daughter and wife helping and his other daughter cooking. The setting is lovely, the service amazing and very attentive . The food quality and portions were very good,no wonder they have been there for over 25 years. Loved the place, especially the family atmosphere , we live in the area, so surely we will be back and highly recommend it to all. Reasonable pricing as well. We'll done look forward to our next visit.

A very romantic and charming French bistro with great food. Service was impeccable and the owner was a delight. Would recommend all the dishes we had (see photos). The chef also made an appearance to see how we were getting on was a nice surprise. Menu appears to change and they have lots of different specials which is what's most popular with locals.

Indian restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Walton, The Mogul stands out as a delightful neighborhood Indian restaurant that has captured the hearts of many. With its bright and airy ambiance, accentuated by spotlights and abstract art on white walls, it offers a refreshing dining experience. While some patrons have noted that rising meal prices may challenge those on fixed incomes, the quality of food remains consistently high.
Outstanding quality and taste highly recommended Will definitely be using it as a regular from now on

Chicken pasanda and keema nan and the mogul special fried rice were all delicious. The restaurant and decor felt quite old and dated but it makes up for the attentive friendly service and the delicious food. They offer a 4 course a la carte menu for £15 per person on Sundays and Thursdays. I will definitely go back.

Extremely dissapointed, lacking flavour, ridiculous excess oil, poor quality ingredients. Will not be ordering again.

This review is strictly for vegetarian food only. The food is good, the service was good and it also allows you to bring your own booze from outside which makes dining experience really good and not too expensive. Highly recommend.

Social distancing, masks & gloves - but still a warm friendly welcome. Food really good as usual. I would always recommend this restaurant, their food & their friendliness. A very enjoyable experience, which I was unsure of before we went out in these early days of easing lockdown. Thank you.

Thought we found our local Indian that we were happy with as the food is lovely but the customer service lets them down - around £1.30 for one popadom and no chutneys, when most other Indians give them complimentary or at least more than one when you’re paying that much for something that costs penny’s to make. Also bulked out a lamb dish with potatoes. If you want to keep customers happy and returning it’s the little things that count as well as the quality of food
