Camel Creek Family Adventure Park, located in Wadebridge, is a delightful destination for families seeking fun and adventure. This vibrant park offers an array of activities that cater to all ages, from thrilling rides like the Clown Coaster and Air Bender to engaging animal encounters at Pets Corner. Families can enjoy a variety of attractions including the Mini Log Flume and Thunder Falls, ensuring there's something for everyone. The park also features educational workshops perfect for school trips, making it an enriching experience as well.
✨ What an amazing evening! ✨ We went to the firework display at Camel Creek this evening (02.11.25), and it was absolutely out of this world! 🎆 The whole family had such a fantastic time — everyone left with big smiles. The owners should be so proud of their attraction; it truly is the best in Cornwall. We visit several times a year and always have an amazing day here. Can’t wait to come back for the Christmas experience as we do every year — it’s become one of our favourite family traditions, and we always look forward to it! 🎄😊😊😊

We had such a brilliant day at Camel Creek! There’s so much to do for all ages, from exciting rides to brilliant play areas, and everything is really well looked after. Best of all, there were no queues, so we could go on the rides again and again without any waiting around. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the whole park felt clean, safe and very family-friendly, with plenty of places to eat and relax. It was a full day of fun and laughter, and we’ll definitely be returning. A fantastic day out in Cornwall that we’d recommend to everyone!
Angus M — Google review
We took our 5 yr old, who is quite small for his age, and he was able to go on all but 2 of the rides (accompanied). We got to pick a pumpkin (included in ticket price). We went during the October half term so it wasn't too busy. We were lucky with the weather. You can buy food there (we got a cornish pasty for less than £5 and it was lovely) or take a picnic. The animals were cool, very well looked after. There is accommodation but we just went for the day.
Karen G — Google review
Such a fantastic family day out, with enough to do for everyone. The park is well kept and even though it was half term we never waited longer then a couple minutes for each ride. The staff were all so friendly and the pumpking patch was such a lovely addition with so much fun activities to do as an extra. We absolutely loved it and will sure to be back very soon!
Stacey T — Google review
We had THE best day! My 7 year old and 4 year old LOVED every minute. It could do with a bit of updating here and there (toddler cottages), but overall it was brilliant! The staff were friendly (and funny!), the facilities were clean, the pumpkin picking didn’t depend on size, the rides were brilliant, the soft play was excellent and I think it’s one of the best days out we’ve had this year. Perfect day out!
Hannah P — Google review
Amazing fun. Been here twice over the past few years, a must do as the kids (and adults) enjoyed it very much. Animals, rides, walks and playground. Staff are very friendly and the veteran staff just know how to make the experience very lovely for the family. Plenty to do and food is surprisingly nice too even though they're the standard pizzas, chicken nuggets and strippers, wings etc. Well done Camel Creek and thanks again for a fab experience. Look forward to visiting again when back in the area.
DaVamp D — Google review
Going out with a bang 🎇 Had a lovely day at the park where all the staff are friendly and super helpful. Highlights included visiting the animals, countless rides with no queues and lots of yummy treats. To top it off, we enjoyed a brilliant fireworks finale 🎇 on their last day of the season.
Sam D — Google review
Visited here with my 2 year old & 6 year old, (our 3rd visit) as the kids love it! We spent all day here and still didn’t do everything, so glad they do the 7 day return. Lots of rides and attractions that both my children enjoyed, the pumpkin fest is well worth a visit when it’s on, it was brilliant, so many activities for everyone to enjoy & great that it’s included in the price! The thing that always makes our day extra special though is the staff they are all so friendly, polite & helpful! We look forward to returning again.

Cornish Birds of Prey is a delightful destination that offers an immersive experience into the world of wildlife. Nestled near Golitha Falls, this center boasts the largest collection of birds of prey in Cornwall, making it a fantastic spot for families and nature enthusiasts alike. Visitors can enjoy engaging activities such as nature walks, flying displays, and educational experiences tailored for children to learn about various species. The grounds are beautifully maintained, providing a serene backdrop where guests can observe healthy and well-cared-for animals.
Lovely sanctuary to visit. You can tell how well cared for all the birds are other animals are. It was very moving to hear and read where some of them have come from and too then see them so clearly happy and healthy now. The displays were very well done and incredible interesting and informative. Well worth and visit.
Lucy H — Google review
Gem of a place. We are locals and love to support this centre. Took my children today aged 8 and 11 who said it was 10/10. Such good value for money at £5 each. The birds are magnificent, especially the eagles and owls. We really enjoyed feeding the goats, ponies and sheep too. Really enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours 😌
Emily B — Google review
What a great place for a family visit. It's brilliantly set out and spacious, and you can see by the cleanliness just how well the birds and animals are looked after. There are twice daily flying exhibitions, and the commentary by the owner is funny and informative. They also have a great cafe selling home produced food, and a shop selling mementos of your visit. Highly recommended.
Steve C — Google review
Had a love visit - lots of different species all in great condition. Farm animals and wild fowl as well. For £5 great value for money. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff would highly recommend
KAREN P — Google review
A little disappointed. Lots of heavy bars on cages, restricting the view of lots of birds. The place feels quite sterile, lines of cages. Birds don't have much in their cages. Having visited a few similar places, we were a bit disappointed. Other things for kids but didn't explore as we were adults. Not sure if you pay extra.
Karen E — Google review
We had a wonderful day here today, my little boy is profoundly autistic and loves birds, he loved the parrots (when they were quieter 😆), the absolutely stunning owls and being able to walk around the pond and get close to the ducks and geese was amazing for him. As for me i was excited to see a vulture and wasn't disappointed. Lots of other friendly animals to see and interact with so make sure to grab some animal food when you enter. The play area was great to blow off steam after the journey there so we could focus on the animals. Then after a picnic we went down to the play barn to finish off our adventure. Looking forward to going back again!
Rebecca D — Google review
We took our granddaughters aged 11 and 6 who thoroughly enjoyed their visit. The birds are spectacular and the animals are well cared for and live in excellent condition. It’s well worth a visit when you’re in the area xx The amenities are very good too! X

I took a Buzzard up to this centre today, was so impressed with the dedication of the people who run this rescue. They are very kind individuals who genuinely have true love and passion for the very important work they do. I felt compelled to make a small donation, and would encourage others to do so. We all really need places like this to flourish, to help protect the wildlife for generations to come. Can’t praise these kind of individuals enough.

Water & Amusement Parks
Retallack Water Sports offers a variety of water activities, including slides, trampolines, climbing domes, obstacle courses, a hamster wheel, and a swing. The staff is friendly and professional with warm showers available. While the facilities are nice and well-maintained, it's recommended to avoid busy times for a better experience. Additionally, no swimming expertise is required but some upper body strength would be beneficial for certain activities.
Been swimming there every day now for a few weeks, the monthly fee is reasonable, and the staff are always helpful and friendly. Elle has been so helpful, I took my 2 year old granddaughter there today, and Elle provided us with a few floating toys, and made my granddaughters first swimming session a successful trip! Going back tomorrow.

Tickets for this can either be purchased online or at the cafe attached. Pre-booking is highly recommended. They have a tow line which will pull you along in rings like we did, or I assume they do "wakeboarding" as there are ramps there as well. There is a decent size inflatable assault course there as well. Life vests and helmets provided, small charge for wetsuits if I remember correctly. Cafe, does tea, coffee, soft drinks, ice creams. But pricey, but as expected for where it is. Small car park nearby.
ROB B — Google review
Great inflatable setup, enjoyed going over all the obstacles. There were however two massive negatives to the experience. The men’s changing rooms were closed & the staff stated the ladies changing rooms should be used as a unisex changing room even though they were open plan with no cubicles. The other negative is the website gives no indication for how busy the slots are, we unfortunately ended up in a very overcrowded session because of this…
Sutty's — Google review
Groups of fully grown adults, mixed with groups with young children, should not be sharing the inflatable aqua park in the same session, totally unsafe. It was like throwing your kids onto the pitch during an adult rugby match. We were a group of five adults with five children aged between 6 and 11 for a birthday party. 2 of the lifeguards were speaking so loudly amongst themselves during the safety brief that the quietly spoken instructor could not be heard. During the session there was a small group of younger adults who had no regard for anyone else using the water park. Charging around and launching themselves over the top of quite terrified 6 year olds trying to balance and stay upright themselves. The lifeguards were a little unfortunate on this day as this group were particularly unaware of themselves and were frankly, a sandwich short of a picnic. The issue I have is by the time the lifeguards noticed and did something about it, this group had already shoved me in while assisting my kids around the course and then repeated the action. The lifeguards had to watch them like hawks from then on and it just made it a poor experience, with significant risk of injury. I explained this the following day and a refund was agreed, however this took 5 weeks to action, multiple emails and calls had to be made to follow up to get the refund. If the changing rooms had some privacy for males and females alike and if a family session was available for U12s for example, this would improve the offering. Adult groups need to be separate to young children or controlled in a far stricter way.
Shaun K — Google review
Lovely people but if you want to buy a bag of haribos your need to sell your life savings.
George L — Google review
Great place to try water sports, we did paddleboarding, but each activity has to be paid for separately which can work out a bit pricey. That said, they provided wet suits at no extra charge and the instructors were helpful.
Derek S — Google review
The water activities are really fun! A mixture of slides, a trampoline, climbing domes and frames, obstacles courses, a hamster wheel and a swing make up the majority of the inflatables on the water. Really worth the experience! The staff are also friendly and professional, with adequate parking nearby. No swimming expertise required, although some upper body strength would be good for body hoisting.
Abu R — Google review
The course in the pictures in completely different to what it is. Beach cafe was closed although it states open. No clear signs of where to go or parking. No happy with it as its very mis leading. Small course and false advertising

Great little pub ran by a great lady! Stayed here for one night but would definitely stay longer. A great location and not far from Padstow, Newquay and other family friendly attractions. Lovely food as well and community spirit.
Adam B — Google review
WORST PUB FOOD EVER. Tonight we were served the worst quality scampi I have ever been served. Deep fried bread crumbed grey cylinders of fried fish flavoured mush. My son ate them (he loves chicken nuggets and was starving) my Mum and myself found them inedible, not even Iceland quality. Starters poor quality and expensive, cottage pie made with cheap school dinner type mince, chips greasy, didn’t bother with desserts. No salad served with starters as they’d run out on a quiet pub on a Sunday in July! Felt completely ripped off, £166! could have cooked better at home. Not suprised pubs are going out of business. WEB SITE 4 YEARS OUT OF DATE AND MENU ONLINE NOTHING LIKE THE CRAP MENU ACTUALLY AVAILABLE!!!!

Nestled in the heart of St. Columb Major, The Coaching Inn is a delightful pub that exudes warmth and charm. With its friendly staff and inviting atmosphere, it’s the perfect spot for both locals and visitors to unwind. Patrons rave about the delicious food, especially the Sunday roast, which has quickly become a highlight for many. The landlord's passion for Manchester United adds an extra layer of camaraderie among guests, making every visit feel like a gathering with friends.
Well….. Had a fantastic afternoon in the Coaching Inn food was lush landlady’s son is fit.. (Oscar) The landlord loves Man Utd far too much and try’s to get you to support the club he even offers you a beer if you support em…. It worked with me.. 😎.. All in all great boozer rave on and come to St Columb Major

Lovely proper Cornish pub. The landlady makes great food and its brilliant value. The roast on a Sunday is a must. Landlord is always on hand to have the laugh with the customers and is an avid Man United fan so it’s always a good atmosphere when the footballs on. Barman today, I think his name was Oliver, lovely chap and very charming with the customers. Recommend

We have just moved to the local area! And thought we would try out a local pub! This was the 2nd pub that we went to, and have to say everyone was friendly and made us feel very welcome 😀. Andy the Landlord and Sid behind the Bar are Top fellas and I know this is going to be my local for the future! And it does a very decent pint.

We popped in here this evening for a couple of ales and were not disappointed. We were very warmly welcomed by both the landlady and the regulars! The beer was kept to perfection, we could imagine spending a full evening in here for sure! Thanks again and keep up the great work! (The Geordies)

Lovely pub run by super friendly staff. Warm, relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. Beers and ciders kept to excellent standard. If this place did food it would probably be the best one in the town.....
Phil P — Google review
Popped in with trepidation as it’s always nervy going into a pub as strangers, well we needn’t have worried as we were immediately treated as long lost friends, not just by the staff but locals as well, this pub and it’s regulars are a credit to Not only St Columb Major but Cornwall itself, and as if that wasn’t enough the beer was excellent as well ( and Guinness) Do be careful when ordering at the bar though cos the Rattler Cider does what it says on the tin! Go in, order a drink and enjoy yourself.

For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with Screech Owl Sanctuary & Animal Park, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Springfield Fun Park. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Nestled in St Columb, near Newquay and Wadebridge, the Screech Owl Sanctuary & Animal Park offers an enchanting wildlife experience. Named after its founder, Mr. Screech, this sanctuary is home to a diverse range of animals including owls, meerkats, raccoons, foxes, lemurs and alpacas.
We visited the sanctuary this week as a family of three with an 18 month old. It was a fantastic day out with enthusiastic and informative staff/ keepers. We highly recommend attending and taking part in all of the events that they run throughout the day. We will definitely be coming back! Cafe - 5* - simple, tasty treats, clean, comfy. Toilets - 4* (very clean). Staff - 5*. Animals - 5*. Activities - 5*. Accessibility (pushchair) - 4.5* even after rain. Well worth the £15 entry fee (discount found on the webpage). Highly recommend feeding the goats - they are comical.
Katie W — Google review
Such a great little place! The keepers were very knowledgeable and friendly, we've enjoyed all the talks very much. It was amazing to see the owls fly and sit on the benches next to us and we've even got lucky to hold one. We've also enjoyed feeding the goats. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who likes birds. As we don't drive, getting there was not the easiest, but it was definitely worth the effort.
Anna ( — Google review
A lovely greeting on arrival. The flying owl and talks were fantastic and the staff were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The food in the tea room was delicious and not badly priced. A wonderful day out. We found it a relaxing and pleasant visit. 😊

Small sized attraction designed to highlight the plight of endangered birds. Has a barn that they use to show Owls and give talks. You walk around other enclosures to view Bird and can feed goats. It has a reasonably priced Cafe. You can happily spend 3 hours there.
Alex W — Google review
Fantastic animal experiences, 2nd time we have visited. It not a very big place but the animals are very well looked after and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Food in the cafe is lovely. Highly recommend doing one of the animal experiences. We did the owl experience and loved it.
Matt S — Google review
Loved it we went here on the way home so arrived about 13:30. Just in time for the bird show and it was amazing such lovely owls and a interesting talk to go with it and the second show we saw just the same and showed the owls doing natural behaviour, they also allow you to hold the owl for a short amount of time to ensure the owl doesn't just imprint on one person, but they are not forced to and they are able to read their birds well to know when they have reached their limit. All the owls we saw looked relaxed and well cared for and there is information about them. The meerkat looked very happy foraging away, I didn't see the racoon he was sleeping but the enclosure looked a lot of fun. We had a cream tea and a savoury scone and oh my goodness the chocolate cake was amazing my son ate it so fast I didn't get a picture but it was amazing. Playpark kept him occupied and we saw the emus. And walked through the goats we didnget any feed but the family infront were feeding them and the goats were very happy to come up and have a feed. Storks, I had no idea they haven't been in Cornwall for 600 so they are part of a programme to reintroduce them. We will come back next year. Just remember the birds are not their for entertainment so if you can't see one let it be because you don't want to be stared at all day.
Jinx B — Google review
Amazing place! Definitely worth a visit - the team really care about all the animals and the shows are great. We did the Lemur experience which was a 15 out of 10 :) highly recommended.

We had a leaflet in the accommodation where we were staying, got there in the morning and ended up spending the whole day there, they have flight displays and lots of interesting talks throughout the day, the staff were really knowledgeable and you could tell the spent a lot of time with the animals, the lady running the displays was amazing as well as Amelia who conducted the talks about the other animals there. The café was clean and staff were polite and friendly, prices were reasonable and the food and coffee were delicious. The whole site was kept very clean especially the glass to some of the enclosures, there is also a kids park and a gift shop. We al had a great day, and we will be returning next year.

Springfield Fun Park, located near St Columb Major, offers a rustic setting with a variety of activities for younger children. The park features attractions such as a train, rowing boats, go karts, horse rides, play barn, and cuddly farm animals. While there is an indoor playground for rainy days, the outdoor experience is not to be missed. Visitors can enjoy picnics or visit the on-site café.
Staying at Hendra, this was close by so decided to give it a go. It turned out to be the best day out we had during our stay! There’s plenty to do here to keep children entertained, from historic fairground rides to pony rides and giant rabbits! Also a great soft play area with a great hidden area to explore. Mark Springfield on your itinerary, it’s a must!

A great day out especially for families with little children. Have been coming for 30 years and yes it may look worn but that’s from decades of fun for visitors to the area! Food is good, paninis and toasties were tasty. Kids spent ages on the drop slide and always love the pony rides! They have an original 1902 Carousel with the sheet music and a proper Helter Skelter. Proper good old fashioned family fun and would definitely recommend
James H — Google review
Always a great family day out at Springfields fun park, we have visited many times over the years and would highly recommend to friends and family. There is something for everyone to enjoy, all the staff are friendly aswell and the food at the cafe is always enjoyable. Has become our childrens favourite local attraction, from ghost train rides and dodgems, to pony rides and enchanted woods, is a great day out.
Mathew T — Google review
Very nice place, I will give it a 5 star if it will be a bit cheaper and not need to pay extra for some of the rides and I'll hope they will redo it in the near future as it's getting very old and run down and might be a question on safety but I really believe that if they redo it like paint and update some of the rides I'll give it a 5+ star
Sruli M — Google review
Visited with my 10-year-old and there were definitely some fun things to do. The bumper cars were great, really fast, and because it wasn’t busy we were able to have multiple goes. The zip line and the super slide were also highlights. We really enjoyed feeding the carp, goats, and chickens. That said, the park overall feels very run down. The ghost train broke down halfway through, and the rollercoaster, which is held up with wooden blocks, also broke down while we were on it, which was disappointing. We were concerned about the safety of the rollercoaster. Another downside is the amount of extra costs once inside. If the entry price included everything, the rating would be higher (3 star). Instead, things like golf (£1 per person), the rollercoaster (£2 per person), the fairground games, and pony rides (£3.50 each) were all extra on top of entry which is kind of annoying. In summary, there are some fun activities and the animals are lovely, but the place needs updating and the extra costs add up quickly.
J B — Google review
WOW an absolutely amazing day out. A trip down memory lane on the Dogems and Carousel. Plenty of Animals, Soft-play area with slides, Boats if you feel energetic and can coordinate the paddling required. Bikes to race around on the outdoor Circuit also a blast. A superb and I thought good value for money Cafe….a great day out for the family. We had such good fun from 75 years young, to a very happy 2 year old, and no complaints from the 4 week old; we ALL loved it. We will return again next year as this is a must. Season tickets are also available and my son who lives in Cornwall will be purchasing them next year.

We had a fun day but felt it was a little overpriced and was very run down,£3.50 for a pony ride? which i think should be included with the admission price. The indoor soft play was fun but was really old fashioned and can do with a makeover. One member of staff was very miserable and almost annoyed that we wanted to go on the fair ride. The food was nice and was a reasonable price.
Graham B — Google review
My daughter loved it here. We visited while staying near Wadebridge on a recent holiday. Has some Fairground rides, indoor play area, a big open outdoor area with slides, play equipment and karts to give the kids plenty to do. We also did the pony rides (additional fee. £3 for paddock walk and £4.50 for lake walk) and fed the animals (50p a bag). 3 adults and a child in our group but we got away with a family entrance fee and saved some money which went towards slushies as it was a very warm day. The food was nice. They do kids lunch box deals, pasties and garden salads with fresh baguettes. My daughter can't wait to return.

When exploring the culinary delights of Cornwall, one cannot overlook Cornish Premier Pasties Ltd. This establishment has become synonymous with the region's famed pasties, which have surged in popularity beyond their traditional roots. No longer just a miner's meal, these savory pastries are now a staple found in shops across the UK. Visitors and locals alike rave about the delicious offerings at Cornish Premier Pasties Ltd.
Amazing! We've just finished our Cornish pasties (traditional steak, lamb & mint) and sausage rolls and really enjoyed them. We're on our way home from holiday and wanted to find a Cornish pasty en route, as we'd tried one in St Ives that was really disappointing. This bakery was a fantastic find! Great food, great service, parking right outside.

Excellent locally made pasties and they do a frozen set to take home too. Well worth a visit
Vin C — Google review
What an absolute pleasure, nay privilege it is to have Premier Pasty on my doorstep! Amazing quality food for such a beautifully reasonable price! Always served with a smile especially from the amazing Sally and Scott! Definitely a must visit if your local. Big up this amazing Cornish business 👏

Excellent place to grab a decent pasty and other hot food at excellent value. A wide selection of pasties fresh from the oven. Also have salad options and get your own baps made while you wait. Can also get cake / treats and frozen pasties for a excellent prices.
Tom M — Google review
The new shop is excellent, there's so much choice here! The lunch options are seemingly endless. The staff are always delightful, the food is excellent, especially the jacket potatoes! Value for money is an understatement! This is a place I'll always stop off at when I'm passing.it would be dangerous if I lived closer, I'd be here every day!
Ashley H — Google review
The food at premier is very good, their pasties are a decent 7/10 and a good cake selection. I will say that their school cake needs some work but the real gem of premier is the staff. I was served by Chloe and she made my overall experience a positive one. Highly recommend her for a raise. Maybe a supervisor role at least. Will be back again.

Have recently placed 2 large orders here They have both been ready on time Of excellent quality and well packed for travelling Staff polite friendly and very helpful

Loved this place! They offer both cooked and uncooked frozen pasties to take home, and the cakes were absolutely lovely. A great spot for a treat.

Chinese restaurant
If you're in the mood for some delicious Chinese cuisine, look no further than New Garden Chinese Restaurant. Even if it's a bit of a trek—seven miles from your accommodation—it’s worth every mile! The restaurant boasts a relaxed atmosphere where attentive staff ensure you feel welcomed. Whether you choose to dine in or opt for takeaway, the food arrives hot and bursting with flavor.
If you were like me and completely torn between going for some “pub grub” or taking a chance on the local Indian, please skip both of those thoughts and get down here. The place is beautiful, quietly tucked away, drove too fast and you’ll miss it. The atmosphere is lovely, the place is quaint and welcoming and the food is sublime and great value for money. We managed to have prawn crackers, a starter, 3 mains, 2 beers, a glass of wine and 2 beers for £60 which was immense value and didn’t manage to finish it all. All in all, fantastic find and would highly recommend
Phineas B — Google review
First time trying this Chinese, parking ample on site outside of restaurant on arrival furniture separates the till area which is very unusual. Staff pleasant and friendlye. Bough , food handed on a crate not a bag very unusual. The food isn't the standard I usually have/expect, although I appreciate every area has a different take on food. For me personally I found the curry sauce in the chicken curry similar to that from a Tesco ready meal, the chicken also tasted like frozen ready meal chicken , the mixed meat curry unfortunately for me who dislikes veg in curries contains alot of veg and very small amt of prawn ( yes only had one prawn in mine) compared to my usual place who give three large king prawns in the same meal i order from my local one. The pancake roll was bland and salty with little flavour at all. The chicken balls was okay but tasted reheated so therefore abit dry on the chicken , the sweet and sour sauce was alright nothing to rave about but the pot size was extremely small not enough to serve with the amount of chicken balls in my opinion. The prawn crackers was fine but crackers are pretty bog standard everywhere can't usually go wrong. I usually always save any leftovers for the next day and reheat which was my plan however a first for me is that I actually binned the leftovers. I wouldnt use this one again myself but I appreciate it's personal opinion but my son and husband all felt the same as me. Unusual to not please the son who's usually not at all fussy.

I ordered a takeaway from here even though it's 7 miles from where I'm staying. Got there at stated time and food came out within minutes. Atmosphere in restaurant was relaxed and you could see how attentive the staff were. Got back with the food and it was still piping hot and the tastes were spot on. Chicken Kung Po and salt and pepper chilli chicken 👏👏👏Thanks it's so nice to get good quality food at a reasonable price when on holiday. Would definitely recommend

Lovely little restaurant, lovely food, large portions and reasonable prices. The staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. The waitress who's name is Lynn was very helpful as it was our first visit, will definitely return there again.

Ample additional parking around the back. Lots of seating available. Lovely staff, friendly and attentive. Quick serving of the meals, tasty, crunchy fresh veg. My first visit and would come again

Wow! Great experience. Called before to discuss Gluten Free food, which they accommodated fantastically. Such polite and helpful staff. The food was delicious, really tasty crispy beef ♥️ Good size portions and reasonably priced. Was ready to collect at the agreed time and still hot when i got it home. (Beer not included!!)

Never had a bad meal here! Staff are lovely. Food is great either in or takeaway! Our go to Chinese! Had a takeaway for 5 people! £81! So much food we can have it 2 days running! No wonder always so busy! Keep it up guys! We tell everyone about you!!! Xxx
Teresa J — Google review
Had a takeaway from here and my gosh!! It was absolutely fantastic! Ordered and didn’t think we would have enough but the portions are small, but more than enough. Collected from the place instead of delivery. Only thing I have been asked to add, was that the six foot nine individual who collected the takeaway, hit his head on the light as he entered! Thanks and photos don’t do it justice!!

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Trewan Hall. Not quite as popular as Screech Owl Sanctuary & Animal Park, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 2 hours.

Campground
Holiday park
Trewan Hall is a historic manor house located near St Columb Major, with a rich heritage as the ancestral estate of the Vivian family for over 300 years. The campsite offers various fields, including non-electric ones, but some visitors found the toilet facilities in one field to be subpar. However, many enjoyed the site's amenities such as the pool and well-stocked shop with reasonable prices. Evening entertainment was a hit among guests, creating a lively atmosphere.
What a gem of a find! Lovely campsite with a 25 metre outdoor pool, which has a cover in cooler weather, beautiful grounds, a park, library, lots of lovely finds and even a bath!!! We loved it here and will definitely be back 😍
Suzie P — Google review
Had a lovely stay here. Last minute booking was dealt with professionally as we had trouble trying to book. Staff were super friendly. Well stocked shop, well maintained grounds with some awesome tall beech trees. Didn't use the pool as it was a bit grey but it looked fantastic. We felt very safe here and very comfortable. Electric hook up, clean toilet/shower blocks etc. Nice to walk around as well
Karl V — Google review
I’ve just found out you’re up for sale, I hope the new owners don’t change a single thing!! Trewan is such a unique and wonderful family camping experience. I’m sure you deserve a well earned rest though.
Nathan S — Google review
We live locally and come up to this hidden Gem every summer. It is my absolute favourite family campsite! Something for all members of the family from playpark, pool to live bands. There is washing machines and tumble dryers. Showers and baths available which is brilliant for young children. I just can not fault it.
Laura H — Google review
My family spent the weekend here 17th to 19th July. Lovely site, lots to do, well stocked shop. The owners have thought of almost everything. A thoroughly lovely weekend. Just one personal thing would have made it perfect. I was looking forward to a swim in the lovely pool but unfortunately there were only ladders to enter and get out of the pool which made it impossible for me with arthritic knees and lack of upper body strength to get out so I missed out. If there were steps in one corner of the shallow end, I'd have been in like a shot! Otherwise an ideal site for all ages. Lovely staff, so helpful and friendly. Thank you.
Sue R — Google review
What a gem this place is. Decent value, great pitches & staff. It wasn't my intended campsite for the night (cycling around GB coast) but I couldn't resist as it was close to local shops. Top notch campsite for families with young children, highly recommended! Will certainly return if I'm in the area again.

We went to look around for nostalgia as it used to be the destination I would beg my parents to go to in the 80’s thankfully everything was the same, very clean and tidy and wonderful staff. Apparently the site has just been bought out, really hope they do not make too many changes, we plan on renting a cottage next year for a week.

Great campsite, well situated for loads of great beaches. The kids loved exploring the site and the pool was perfect after a day at the beach.

Castle an Dinas, located in St Columb Major, is a significant archaeological site from the Iron Age. This vast fortification features a triple ring of banks and ditches and offers breathtaking panoramic views. Accessible via a rough gravel track, the site provides free parking and boasts informative interpretation boards. The monument includes a cairn by a tumulus at its center, adding to its historical significance.
Beautiful, 360° views. Very easy to walk. Just be carful if you go there with your dog because it would appear by the huge amount of sheep poo that they graze there. Although when we went there weren't any, so my dog could be off the leas.
Laura D — Google review
Not a great deal there but still a lovely place to visit with amazing views across Cornwall
Clare N — Google review
Lovely views. Sign posted from main road. Bumpy track and initially only one car width. Parking for about a dozen cars. Short walk not too steep. Dog walkers beware not dog poo bin so need to bag up and take away

If your looking for a nice walk with amazing veiws from coast to coast, with a little history thrown in. Look no further, not a long walk but a feast for the eyes. Worth a look if you've got the time.

Site of Iron Age Hill Fort. Very large site. The fort has a triple ring of banks and ditches. There is a car park (up a bumpy drive marked "ancient monument"). There is an interpretation board and a cairn by a tumulus at the centre. Huge views all around.
Doug N — Google review
Lovely spot for a picnic, loads of space and places for the kids to run around. Could have done with a bit more information about the site, although we may have just missed it.
Adam P — Google review
Don't let the road up put you off! Yes its bumpy, but the view from the top is worth it! Good size car park will accommodate around 20 cars. But don't be surprised if you don't see anybody else up there!

Pub
Restaurant
The Ring O' Bells, the oldest pub in St. Columb and one of the oldest in the county, has been serving locals and tourists since 1435. Visitors rave about its incredible Sunday roast with generous portions and tasty sides like potato dauphinoise and cheesy broccoli and cauliflower. The dog-friendly pub is known for its friendly staff who offer knowledge about the food and drinks served.
Our first time in Cornwall and we were lucky enough to be near Ring O'Bells. Out of our 7 day stay we visited four times! Great selection of drinks including locally made and a cocktail menu. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was absolutely amazing. We sampled the Sunday roast, curry night and steak night and it was all mind blowingly tasty....and the puddings.
Rhea L — Google review
Another, truly, fantastic meal at the Ring O Bells. Friday night calls for Fish and Fizz and this gem of a restaurant never fails to disappoint. A cosy, quiet inn who's owners care about their customers and will always take the time to interact with them to give an truly positive experience. The food was delicious, with staff open to substitutions if asked. We had 2 whole lobsters for £20 (each) less than previous Cornish restaurants we have tried. Both were excellent with a glass of prosecco to wash it down. Even this extravagant meal won't bankrupt the average person and that is to speak of nothing of the rest of the food on offer, which has always been, in my opinion, of great value for money, delicious and in a good quantity. If you're in need of a quiet getaway then this is the perfect place. Good food, cosy atmosphere and a well stocked bar (and some well stocked options for our furry companions of the world). Thank you Lucy and Sarah for another great experience.

We enjoyed a meal whilst on holiday and it was one of the best meals we’ve ever had!! The staff were so helpful and talked us through the specials menu. I have dietary restrictions which they took into consideration and changed my chips for a lovely salad. The dogs got lots of attention too!
Lauren W — Google review
Had the most fabulous roast and home made desserts. The staff were all welcoming knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely return and the red wine is highly recommended
Fiona W — Google review
What an absolute gem of a pub. From the moment you walk in you feel so welcome. We hadn't made a booking, but they managed accommodate us despite being very busy. The service was impeccable and everything was clearly explained on the menu and the specials board by a lovely lady. The food arrived in good time and was excellent. We will definitely be back. Keep up the good work. A special mention to the chap behind the bar from Hull, top bloke.
Martin G — Google review
We come here every so often now when we can as the food is just brilliant and it has a really nice friendly atmosphere. Today we both opted for a southern fried chicken burger, a dessert and I finally got round to trying out one of the cocktails which was tip top. All in all and as ever, every time we've been, we have always had a fantastic meal. All the staff are always very polite, friendly and attentive. Thank you and we look forward to our next visit again soon.

Terrific pub. Really great staff, very good food, classics with a twist, not a sea of beige. Good ales and attentive service. I’m definitely coming back. Plus no St.Austell beer in sight, win!
Tom ( — Google review
Visited this marvelous little pub for a Sunday roast. Excellent food and service. Just like a roast at home, good sized portions and fresh not frozen veg. Had a mix of beef and lamb and both delicious Apple and rhubarb crumble with custard a very tasty end to a great meal. Definitely on my list to return when next in the area We have been back again today 29/06/25 and still as good as ever
