Nestled in the heart of Malaga, the Mercado Central de Atarazanas is a vibrant covered market that beautifully marries history with culinary delight. Its stunning Moorish entrance, reminiscent of Granada's Alhambra, is a remnant of its 14th-century origins as a shipyard during Arabic rule. Over centuries, this space has transformed from a convent to a military fort and even a medical school.
Mercado de Atarazanas – Flavors and Finds in the Heart of Málaga A beautiful market hall, perfectly located in Málaga’s pedestrian zone. It offers a great selection of fresh fish, meat, and especially vegetables. If you're looking for a quick bite, there are plenty of options – from tapas to freshly squeezed juices. We also found some lovely souvenirs to take home: local specialties, spices, and small delicacies. The market is well-organized by product type, making it easy to explore. A great spot to experience the culinary soul of the city
Marco S — Google review
We had a lovely experience exploring this vibrant local market. We tried fresh natural juices, raw oysters, a variety of olives, and seasonal fruits – everything was delicious and full of flavor. The market is spacious and well-organized, offering a wide selection of vegetables, fresh fish, and meats. The seafood section stood out with its incredibly fresh smell, a clear sign of top-quality produce. A must-visit spot for anyone who enjoys local flavors and authentic market vibes!
Maram D — Google review
Fantastic market. We arrived just shy of 4pm when lunch service at the seafood bars was closing but was still able to get some amazing oysters, sea urchin and prawns. So so fresh and packed with locals so we knew we were in the right place. Would return in a heartbeat and arrive a little earlier. One of the highlights of the trip. Bartender will double check price of seafood with you prior to cooking and can prepare according to your tastes, e.g., raw, grilled, fried.
Mercedes C — Google review
The best market I have ever visited. Incredibly fresh fruit and vegetables. Wonderful meat and fish. We bought a large chicken & salad stuffed bocadillo at El Capriche by one of the entances for €6 compared to £18 at the airport. The whole place was heaving at midday. Good time to visit is 10 am when the stands are properly set up. The prices are similar on each stand. Card payments are accepted.
Longfordmuse — Google review
A wonderful market hall where you can buy an incredible selection and quality of food. If you don't feel like cooking, you can eat breakfast or lunch there. We had delicious sandwiches with roasted pork leg and rib bacon for breakfast. Dinner was delicious seafood.
Adam Z — Google review
The market is big and nicely organized, offering a broad selection of vegetables, fresh fish, and meats. The seafood area especially stands out with its incredibly fresh aroma, clearly reflecting top-quality produce. A great spot to visit for anyone who enjoys local flavors and an authentic market atmosphere!
Nam H — Google review
Really nice market with stained glass and a lot of booths. They have bars that serve tapas and drinks, plus are open later than the posted hours. Vendors are full of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, and of course seafood.
Dan Y — Google review
Visiting Mercado de Atarazanas in Málaga was an amazing experience! The market is full of fresh and diverse products, from colorful fruits and vegetables to fish and local delicacies. The lively and energetic atmosphere gives a true sense of daily life in Málaga. A perfect place for shopping, exploring, and experiencing the local culture.

Art museum
Museums
Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga is a captivating art museum housed in a 16th-century Renaissance palace. It showcases an extensive collection of Spanish and international masterpieces from the personal collection of Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza. The museum focuses on 19th-century Spanish art, featuring works by renowned artists such as Francisco de Goya and Pablo Picasso. While Andalusian art takes center stage, the museum also boasts significant pieces from beyond Spain.
A truly exquisite experience, soaking up the history and storytelling of this wonderful Spanish art. Paintings of landscapes that will make you consider how simple a life we once led; breathtaking portraits of a simpler, tougher and more precious time. The details are a wonder to behold; light through a breaking wave, smoke from a cigar, despair on an old lady's face; and I guarantee you will want to spend time, slowing down and appreciating the work on display here. A special memory of Málaga and Spain. Thank you to the staff and curators.
Chris D — Google review
A wonderful cozy museum. We have fallen in love with Spanish paintings. The museum shop has a great amount and a good variety of books about art (and for children too!) and different useful souvenirs!
Dariana U — Google review
Fabulous temporary exhibition until 1st March 2026. Well worth the visit. The museum has a lot of interesting artworks in the permanent exhibitions, but the temporary exhibitions are something you don't want to miss. The current offering is Telúricos y primitivos. I just loved it.
Sharon W — Google review
Nice gallery with art from many different periods - it's certainly more educational than other galleries in Málaga. The building it's situated in is also beautiful and elegant. The entrance is free on Sunday evenings. Most information is also in English.
Kristýna V — Google review
Magnificent pieces of classical Spanish art in the heart of the city. The museum is also hosting an exhibition called "American People". however considering beautiful classical art, exhibition had no meaning for me.
M. Z — Google review
Tucked in the heart of Málaga’s historic center, the Carmen Thyssen Museum is a gem for anyone curious about Spanish art. Housed in the stunning 16th-century Palacio de Villalón, the museum showcases an impressive collection of 19th-century Andalusian and Spanish paintings. From vibrant seascapes by Sorolla to evocative scenes of local life, the artwork feels like a time machine into Spain’s past. I loved how the galleries are spread across four floors, making it easy to explore without feeling overwhelmed. The audio guide (available in English!) is a must for deeper insights—trust me, it brings the paintings to life. Pro tip: Visit on Sundays from 5–7 PM for free entry, but arrive early as the line moves fast. The cozy café is perfect for a quick coffee break, and the gift shop has beautiful art books. Less crowded than the Picasso Museum, this spot is a must for art lovers and history buffs. You’ll leave inspired!
Gennie M — Google review
One star off purely because the collection isn't really my cup of tea - I like modern art, and this was largely 18th and 19th century, relatively traditional representational landscapes and portraits. If you like that kind of thing, though, this would be superb. A large collection with a very Spanish feel to it.
James C — Google review
Beautiful collection. Definitely worth a visit if you have any interest in Andalusian art.

Art Museums
The Museo Picasso Málaga is housed in the Buenavista Palace, a stunning 16th-century building that showcases over 200 works by the renowned artist Pablo Picasso. The collection, donated by Picasso's family, spans his diverse styles and techniques from classicism to cubism and surrealism. In addition to the permanent collection, the museum hosts temporary exhibitions, educational activities, and cultural events.
To skip waiting line, we purchased tickets online a day before. I suggest you to take mobile headphones with you. At the entrance you can scan a QR code with the audio guide. Besides Picasso life, two more artists are exhibited. At the -1 floor you can find architectural remains explaining what life was from the museum building itself. It was a nice place.
Iskra R — Google review
I visited the museum at 5pm and waited in a queue - I would advise purchasing tickets online however it is possible to purchase tickets after entering the museum. Backpacks cannot be taken in so it’s a good idea to travel with a smaller bag - there is a storage room operated by staff which was very simple and quick to use. There is also an audio guide so it is helpful to bring earphones. There are two Picasso collections with an additional medium/techniques room as well as two temporary exhibitions. There is also an archaeology floor which was incredibly interesting! I was there for approximately an hour and a half - I really enjoyed it and had a great time.

Museo Picasso Málaga – A Cultural Gem in the Heart of the City The Museo Picasso Málaga, Address: Calle San Agustín, 8, 29015 Málaga, Spain, is a must-visit if you’re in the city. Housed in the beautiful 16th-century Palacio de Buenavista, it has a well-curated collection of Picasso’s paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and drawings that really show the evolution of his work. The museum is easy to navigate, the displays are clear, and the atmosphere is calm and enjoyable. The temporary exhibitions are always interesting, and the audio guide is excellent for getting deeper insights. Located right in the historic centre, it’s easy to combine with a stroll through Málaga’s old town. A perfect stop for art lovers or anyone curious about Picasso.

Queue to enter because had booked to enter at opening time. Best to book in advance because otherwise you are advised to book online in a queue and then join the queue for those with tickets. It is possible to pay on entry as a last resort. No leaflets in English available when I visited. Cloakroom available, plenty of seating so you can rest between viewing, plenty of toilets too. Museum signage for direction wasn’t the most clear. Audio guide is good although it’s through QR code on phone so would recommend taking phone and headphones. Good collection of Picasso’s work :) Very informative about the mediums and techniques explored over the years
Lucy M — Google review
Lovely museum of Picasso’s life work. Purchase tickets on line before hand and arrive at your allotted time. Be prepared to line up even with prepaid tickets because they allow only certain number of people in. 5 people come out, 5 people allowed in. There are several security check points, ticket check and no liquids or food allowed. I’d you have food items you must check them at a cost check area. Be prepared to spend 2-3 hours absorbing the life and life’s work of Picasso. There are benches and places to sit to rest if necessary.
Laura K — Google review
The Picasso Museum in Málaga was totally worth the visit. I really enjoyed learning about Picasso’s entire life, from his childhood and marriages to the inspirations behind his art. It was fascinating to see how his style evolved through different periods of his career. Buying tickets online is definitely the best option to avoid the long lines. The museum is quite popular, so even with tickets, you should expect a bit of a wait.
Mayi B — Google review
A must do when you’re in Malaga but you must book tickets in advance especially at the weekend, saw so many people turned away and disappointed as very popular. Great collection and amazing setting to discover the artist and his various work. Highly recommend and give yourself a few hours to visit
Ian M — Google review
It was okay, but nothing special to appreciate to pay this price of ticket. Honestly shocked to wait outside for over 30 minutes though I got earlier with ticket. Thus, this museum is too small and compact to maximize the experience of quality visiting.

The Santa Iglesia Catedral Basílica de la Encarnación de Málaga stands as a magnificent testament to the city’s rich history and architectural beauty. This iconic landmark, often referred to as La Manquita, showcases an impressive 16th-century baroque facade that draws visitors in with its intricate details. Built on the site of a former mosque, remnants of which include the serene Patio de los Naranjos adorned with fragrant orange trees, this cathedral is a must-see for anyone exploring Malaga.
This cathedral is one of the most stunning structures I have ever seen in my life. The exterior is massive and before entering, you think there are dozens of rooms and levels and steps you’ll encounter upon entering. However, the second you walk in, you notice that nearly the entire structure is ONE GIANT INTERIOR cathedral. The ceiling is so high up you can see the occasional bird flying from one end to another. There’s not a single square inch of this place that isn’t intricately decorated or carved with holy imagery. The craftsmanship and variety of materials used are beyond anything you could imagine. Highly recommend you stop by and take a look at this architectural marvel!
Mo W — Google review
This is such a beautiful catherdral. Unfortunately there was a service happening so visiting the interior was not possible. But the exterior is wonderful. It is called the one-armed lady as only one spire was built and the money ran out for the construction of the second. Another interesting fact is that it was a mosque and rather than demolishing this to build the Catholic Church it was incorporated. The ex try error carvings are lovely and the surrounding area very picturesque. It is well worth the visit to the old town and the cathedral
G M — Google review
A monumental building with some lovely side chapels will take some time to look around. The entry cost is €9 with lots to see. Do not miss the Incarnation Chapel behind the main alter, it is lovely. The choir has some stunning wood carvings. Give yourself lots of time as there is so much to see. The Catholic Monarchs ordered the construction of the building. It is popularly known as La Manquita. The cathedral of the Encarnación is one of the town's most important monuments. The south tower and the main façade are unfinished. It is situated in the historic centre of the town. The building sits where a mosque-Moorish quarter once existed. Work began in the first half of the 16th century, in the Gothic style, ordered by the Catholic Monarchs, and continued in the 17th and 18th centuries. It has its own gardens and a magnificent courtyard. The interior of the cathedral has Renaissance and Baroque influences. Most noteworthy are the choir stalls (17th century) in the central nave and, especially, the sculptural works of Pedro de Mena. The chapels are also very interesting, such as that of the Encarnación, which gives the cathedral its name.
Liam C — Google review
Absolutely beautiful Cathedral with lots of history. If you will notice one of the bell towers on the cathedral has not been completed. There is a good reason for this. The money that was to be used to finish the Cathedral bell tower was instead sent to George Washington during the Revolutionary War in the US by Spanish Governor Bernardo de Gálvez. Bernardo de Gálvez was the governor of the Spanish territory of Luisiana which is how it was spelled then. This was because Spain wanted to see Britain defeated in the US Territory as they were arch rivals fighting for influence in the Americas.
Hayes W — Google review
Absolutely stunning cathedral in the heart of Málaga! The mix of Gothic and Renaissance styles is beautiful, and the inside is full of light and detail. Even if you’re not into churches, it’s worth visiting just for the architecture and atmosphere. Don’t miss it! Allow at least an hour for your visit, and check opening times in advance, as access to the rooftop and main nave may differ depending on services or events.
Aftab K — Google review
Gorgeous cathedral, they call her the "one armed lady" because the right bell tower was never completed. The architecture was beautiful, so much marble and carved mahogany. I have so many photos, it was just overwhelming!
Kristin S — Google review
Nice cathedral with an interesting history. Built on top a mosque, unfinished because of the lack of money, then left unfinished by purose... It is a special building that needs to be visited...
Daniel-Marian M — Google review
Beautiful and ornate inside and out, though work being done on it at the moment. Large crane over shadowing the exterior. €10 per adult There were guided tours or you could purchase a handheld voice guide in your language.... at extra cost. We chose to go round on our own. Lovely artworks, paintings, beautiful wooden central cathedral organ. Lots of places just to sit and admire. Not too busy when we went 12/8/25. Souvenir shop on the way out and it also has toilets.

Wonderful shop to go into, it is huge. A Spanish John Lewis. Dont miss the basement supermarket/food court. Nice view of city from top floor too. Everything is top quality. The Spanish still enjoy going out shopping which is lovely to see.

Poor service in shopping experience compare to the one we visit in Madrid. We went up to top floor for coffee and went out straight away.Bought something from sport department.
Edmund O — Google review
El Corte Ingles in the middle of Malaga is a nice place to meet friends for coffee and drinks. Shopping in their imported food area is always a fun experience also. You know what isn't enjoyable at El Corte Ingles? Their complete lack of customer service. Mind you the service staff at the roof cafe is an exception. However, sales personnel? They are completely oblivious to customer service. While I have not shopped in every department of El Cortes Ingles, every department I have shopped in there has been staffed with indifferent, almost arrogant, personnel. Considering I find most Spaniards welcoming and very helpful, it is amazing this store has found so many inappropriate people for their sales staff. My French friend told me to meet their arrogance with arrogance. It seems to work for her, but that is actually not my fallback personality... so, I end up leaving without purchasing anything and just frustrated.

Big , a lot of clothes and footwear but very small food court and was extreme complicate to eat or drink a coffee. Line to enter in main restaurant( probably half hour in line at least). We leave the center to eat in other place. My advise : don't visiting in weekend.

Very bad customer experience. I wanted to buy a pair of socks that wasn't registered. There were similar pairs for around 9-10 euros and the market price of them were also 9-10 euros. However, the guy working there insisted that they were more expensive and said that it was 17 per pair. It is a shame as I could find then easily online for a cheaper price. Wouldn't recommend this store.

Stuffed baked potatoes for 5 EUR each in all the variations one can imagine. We recommend the one with kebab meet (I know, this sounds strange, but trust us;). The place is tiny but interestingly decorated with various religious ornaments from Easter celebrations. You can only pay with cash. Recommended!

Both the camperos ( 3 to 5 Euros) and the potatoes ( 2 to 5 Euros) thave a nice flavour. The chicken potato es very simple but nice the guay one is nice but has a lot of mayonnaise. We are 3 potatoes and a campero and 4 drinks and we payed 23. Take into account that you can't pay with card but like at 1 min walking distance there is an ATM. There are only 5 tables inside so if it's a rainy or cold day maybe not the a great idea.

Tapas bar
Atarazanas, originally a Nazari shipyard in the 14th century, has transformed over time into a bustling market in Malaga. The market offers an array of stalls showcasing high-quality Mediterranean fish, seafood, fruits, vegetables, and meats from various regions. Visitors can also indulge in the Market Bar's expanded space with indoor and outdoor seating to savor traditional tapas and an extensive selection of fresh seafood.
Wow! What an experience! So many things to choose from, just eat your way thru :) some vendors are more helpful than others, so if they are not to your liking, just move on. The sushi was so fresh it was still moving :D fruit was sweet, many options for types of olives, veggies were plentiful and inviting. The History is very interesting and the stained glass windows and interior are intricate.

This was our second time having lunch here. The food was great that’s why we came back. However, the service from the staff outside of the market area was disappointing. We had to ask twice for a slice of lemon for the fried baby squids. The issue wasn’t that it was busy, but that the staff gave me a pc of clearly used and dried-out lemon slice. When I asked who gave me it, she claimed it was the dry hot air that made it look that way but I don’t think the sun squeezes lemons, does it?
Kei — Google review
Lovely meal at the market 😋 — great value for the price. Paella and seafood were fresh and delicious. 👍🏻 I’ve been twice on the weekend and it never disappoints. It gets really crowded around noon, but service is quick and efficient despite how busy the staff are. Just note that it can get hot inside as there’s no AC or fan, especially when it’s packed.

Still the best prawn skewers I've ever had.. so good we had to order more. The Smoked paprika makes the sweet prawns so delicious.
Melissa R — Google review
Tried the seafood paella- it was decent for the price, with a good amount of seafood, but definitely not the best. I'm giving a low rating as the service is terrible. I had to place my order 3 times to finally receive it. Furthermore, they force you to take the bread and aeoli (+€1), which would be alright if the bread was good, but it was extremely dried out and tasted stale. Although I declined the bread initially, the waitress kept coming over with it and spoke to me very fast in Spanish although she was aware I did not understand. Ok to try but would not come back

Quite possibly the best bar experience I've ever had. Pure moment & coincidence - the kind of gift that cannot be planned. Will treasure the moment forever & only dream of it one day being equalled or surpassed. We loved our dinner of De Pringá Malagueña (slow cooked meats on thin toasted bun), Abanico Ibérico Asado (grilled pork), and Bombomes de Morcilla (a little sweet, and spicy). There is much passion in this food and the restaurant is charming. It is obvious they do not take advantage of tourists. The prices are fair and the location is directly across from the cathedral.

This restaurant was a disappointment. The service was slow we waited ages for our drinks, and the food took even longer. When it arrived, it was underwhelming; the flavors were flat, and some dishes were cold. The portions didn’t justify the high prices, which was annoying. The place was crowded, and the tables were so close together it felt intrusive. The noise level was high, making it hard to enjoy our meal. The decor was okay but nothing special, and the place felt like it needed a refresh. The bill had an error, and fixing it took too long. I had high hopes, but this was a letdown. I might consider coming back if they make changes, but for now, I’ll look for better places to eat.

Japanese restaurant
Sushi restaurant
Ta-Kumi, a Japanese restaurant in Malaga, is led by Antonio Jimenez and upholds the philosophy of tradition versus modernity and fusion. The team prioritizes respecting ancestral Japanese cooking methods while not being against innovation. The sushi offering at Ta-Kumi emphasizes perfectly cooked rice and expertly sliced fish. This culinary gem embodies the perfect blend of culture and cuisine, with two top chefs, Toshio and Alvaro (TA), coming together to create an exceptional dining experience.
We were excited to visit this restaurant, and it did not disappoint—one of our favorite meals of our entire Andalusia trip! Joao provided excellent service and spot-on recommendations for food and drinks. Seated at the sushi bar, we enjoyed watching the chefs at work. The food was incredibly fresh and well-executed—we had rockfish usuzukuri (thin-cut sashimi), a mixed hirazukuri sashimi platter, and a variety of cold and hot nigiri (spicy tuna, salmon aburi, toro aburi, scallop, wagyu, quail egg with wagyu), plus hosomaki (spicy tuna) and uramaki (soft-shell crab). The cocktails were creative, including a wasabi mule and one that tasted like Asian melon ice cream. Joao also recommended a fantastic sake and wine pairing. An unforgettable experience—highly recommend!
Sabrina P — Google review
Had the set menu. Next time would order off the menu and select. Honestly a bit hit and miss: a few of the sashimi pieces were just past thawed in the centre, way too cold and clearly frozen and still near frozen. The red prawn sashimi, in particular the heads were amazing. The torched sushi selection was superb. But I ordered two additional rolls off the menu and was not impressed. The wagu was good but it came last and I already had disappointment from 75% of the dishes before it so I just wanted to finish up and pay my bill. For a Michelin star restaurant serving sashimi still frozen in the middle is absolutely unacceptable. For the price of the set menu of €135 I felt like I did not receive the quality or money worth. Service and atmosphere was perfect. I sat outside which looked at the armoury walls. Would not return except for the red prawn sashimi and the torched sushi selection.

Incredible Japanese food, you rarely find a restaurant serving this level of cooking. Don't miss the waygu and quail egg nigiri, the tuna tartare, the hot sushi with tempura prawn, the amazing mochi. We won't be able to come back to Malaga without visiting here again. Lovely staff, very welcoming to children, and beautiful views of the Alcazaba from the terrace.

My wife and I both had the menu with the optional Wagyu. Overall it was a really enjoyable experience with a nice view from the 2nd floor, but here a few high la and lows: 1. I can definitely recommend the teas, the one I had was delicious and rich in flavor. Both the ceviche that came before the meal as well as the tuna tartare with truffles were amazing and definitely among the best we had. The oysters were nice but probably still best fresh instead of fried, but tastes differ. What we did not enjoy much at all were the raw carabineros, though the roasted head was nice. The sashimi was overall enjoyable and of good quality, as well as the first round of nigiri which had amazing flavours. Sadly the 2nd set of nigiri was less flavored and we started to feel quite full. A nice refresher such as granita or something similar would have been a great addition to the menu. That is especially true with both the fish main coming up next which was rich and deep in flavor as well as the Wagyu at the end. And while the desert was good, it was a bit too soapy tasting. Overall a good experience with some true highlights but sadly a bit of a lack of balance throughout the menu overall. The service was good, though some of the waiters seemed quite new and a bit inexperienced.

A purely amazing experience. The food was both complex and simple, being made from great source material. The freshness and pure taste of the fish and seafood brought us back to Japan. This is our first time tasting this quality of food outside of Japan. Highly recommended. For both fine dining enthusiasts and Japanese food lovers.

This was a truly incredible food experience, with some of the most delicious and beautifully presented dishes I have experienced. From the start with the amuse-buche every course was a taste sensation. I particularly recommend the eel nigiri, crab rolls, wagu nigiri, gyoza, sashimi but everything was exceptional with extra surprise touches thar elevate and complement the dishes The staff were very informative and a pleasure to be with. The only thing is we went around 9pm on a Thursday and we were the only ones in the main restaurant. That's such a shame for the restaurant, I really hope their weekend trade is great. They deserve to be full! Go you won't regret a minute

Day 2

Off the beaten path
For day 2, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Plaza Mayor. Not quite as popular as Alcazaba, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Shopping mall
Plaza Mayor is a large open-air shopping center in Malaga that has been expanding since 2002, with a recent addition of 38 luxury outlet stores. The architecture reflects Andalusian style, featuring a central square and a canopy to provide shade. It offers a wide range of apparel stores, including global brands. Visitors can also explore nearby attractions such as ancient archaeological sites near Cadiz, stunning caves in Nerja, the mountains of Sierra Nevada, and the bustling Malaga port.
Plaza Mayor Shopping Centre, located in Málaga, offers a well-rounded shopping experience with a mix of retail, dining, and entertainment. The centre has a variety of stores, including well-known international brands like Zara, H&M, and Primark, as well as smaller boutiques. It’s a great place for both fashion enthusiasts and those seeking more practical goods. The dining options are diverse, ranging from fast food to sit-down restaurants, catering to all tastes. The centre also has a cinema, making it an ideal destination for an entire day out. The parking is spacious, and there are good public transport links, which adds to its accessibility. The modern design and open-air sections make it a pleasant place to wander, with plenty of seating areas to relax. The atmosphere is generally relaxed, although it can get crowded on weekends. Overall, Plaza Mayor offers a convenient and enjoyable shopping experience, with something for everyone.

This is a wonderful shopping center that I really enjoyed, especially for families with children. It’s not only about the variety of stores where you can shop, but also about how well the place is organized: it’s clean, pleasant, and has plenty of comfortable areas to relax with kids. The children’s playgrounds are very nicely designed, and right next to them there are benches with tables — so you can grab some food, sit down, and relax while your child is playing. That’s a really great idea. Overall, the place is so comfortable that you can come here even without a specific reason — just to spend time and enjoy yourself. The selection of shops is moderate, and most of the essentials are available. The only thing I would add is perhaps a few more children’s stores. In any case, I highly recommend it — a wonderful, family-friendly place!

Located just one stop away from Malaga airport by train (and the train station is there too), Plaza Mayor is a massive complex with all the top branded shops you could ask for. Better than that, they have great reductions offered in most of the stores. There’s no shortage of restaurants and coffee stops here as well. Great place to stop off with the kids and let them play in the play park they have. Plaza leads to the train station. Biggest down side for me is that there doesn’t seem to be any guidance for tourists visiting for a first time and don’t know the language. I won’t go into detail as this is subjective. All in all, it’s still worth a visit.
Capricorn O — Google review
I've been here every time I've been to Malaga and I can say that year after year, the food scene has improved. Now you really have where and what to eat. As for shopping, it's always been good (offers only in March/July)
Arianna S — Google review
Plaza Mayor is a great spot for anyone looking for a comprehensive shopping experience in Málaga. It’s not quite as charming or historic as the old town, but it offers a good mix of shops, restaurants, and entertainment, all in one place. It’s perfect for those who want to take a break from the city center hustle and bustle, do some shopping, and enjoy a leisurely meal. If you're after a day out with a more modern and spacious feel, this is a solid option in Málaga.

Parque del Oeste is a vast urban park located in the western area of the city. It boasts over 25 years of history and covers 74,000 square meters. The park features various areas for children to play and enjoy, including a large lake with a geyser and 45 colorful sculptures, some of which are mythological. Additionally, there are basketball and soccer courts for older children to engage in sports activities.
Massive, gorgeous urban park. Multiple water features, playgrounds, sports facilities, wildlife (birds, turtles), several walkways, fountains and more. Peaceful and beautiful.

🐢 Came for a stroll, stayed for the turtles. This park has everything — shady trees, chill vibes, and yes, actual turtles just casually living their best lives in the pond. It’s like a budget safari in the middle of Málaga. Perfect spot to walk, snack, or contemplate becoming a turtle yourself. 9/10 would turtle again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+

Big and chill park. There is everything: - Large lake with different species of birds in it. - Lots of benches - Kids playground - Sport areas for basketball, football etc. - Dog park - Picnic areas with tables - WCs Really accessible as well ♿ There are ramps for disabled, water fountains for them, separate WCs for disabled people. The person who designed this park thought of everything.

Parque Oeste – worth the wait! We walked from the María Zambrano train station on a quiet Monday and stepped into what feels like the city’s green lung. The park is huge, shaded by old pines and palms, with benches every few metres and spotless public toilets (a rare win). Kids can sprint across open lawns, climb rope structures or hit the two fenced dog parks if you’ve got a pup in tow. We left the picnic basket at home this time—next visit it’s coming with us. When hunger hits, cafés and tapas bars line the streets on every side; you’re five minutes from a cold beer or a cortado.

The Málaga Roman Theatre is a contemporary museum located at an ancient Roman theater site. The theater, dating back to the 1st century and built during the reign of Emperor Augustus, is currently undergoing restoration and preservation by archaeologists. It is conveniently situated in Málaga's historic center, near major attractions such as the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro Castle.
Well it just stays there. Visiting the Roman theater ruins was an unforgettable experience. The site is well-preserved enough to spark the imagination, allowing you to picture how grand and lively it must have been in ancient times. Walking among the stone seating and arches feels like stepping back in history. It’s a must-see for anyone who enjoys culture, history, or simply beautiful places with a story to tell.
Ling P — Google review
Located on the slope of The Alcazaba the Roman Theatre was covered until 1951. Discovered in the mid-20th century during construction of the Casa de la Cultura, its excavation revealed marble flooring, a rainwater drainage system, and intact supports for the wooden performance platform. Despite centuries of burial and use as a quarry during Muslim rule, the theater survived in exceptional condition. In 1994, the Casa de la Cultura was demolished to expand the archaeological zone, uncovering the extraordinary extent of the Roman theater’s preservation beneath the urban fabric of Málaga.
Liam C — Google review
Free of charge, the city's oldest historical site locates right in the heart of Malaga next to the Alcazaba. You will first enter a visitor centre, which tells you all about the history and structure of the theatre, very informative. You would then see the ruin after exiting the centre. Went in March, not crowded at all(maybe because it's raining), on a warm sunny day, you could sit on the top and enjoy the scene as much as you want.

It is free, so why not see it if you are there. Especially as it is at the bottom.of the Alcazaba..It was buried under slums for centuries, before it was discovered...Wonderful piece of history. Mzazi — Google review
This was a wonderful find. It was free to visit, there was lots to look at and it was all very well preserved and very well maintained. The area’s lower down were clearly visible from the flat area at the front. For those who are willing to climb the steps there is a fantastic view of the whole city from the top.is would not be easily accessible to families with pushchairs or those who have a disability. There is some shade at certain points but much of this is in the sun.

Tako-Away is a Mexican eatery located in Plaza De Mayor. Despite some waiting time, the overall experience was above expectations. The burritos and nachos were particularly impressive, with vegan options available as well. The retro environment and friendly staff added to the enjoyable atmosphere. The menu offers a variety of burritos, wraps, bowls with Mexican meats and vegetables, salsas, salads, and even Nespresso Cafe. Customers appreciated the delicious food with generous portions at reasonable prices.
Excellent burritos and urban bowl. Such amazing staff who were so considerate. We explained that we are strict vegetarians so that cleaned up the counter, changed gloves and made all the food with care. Makes the food taste so much better when the food is made by people who care. Price point was very competitive as well. 4 main meals with the side was approx €42.00, very filing and good value for money.

Not bad at all for a fast food place. It is small and cozy, and they serve Mexican style dishes. The ingredients look fresh. Uvedoble Taberna is a renowned spot in Malaga, offering traditional and innovative Málagan-style tapas in a relaxed setting with the option for outdoor dining. Recently relocated to a larger venue near the cathedral, it continues to impress with its clever and modern menu that caters effortlessly to groups of any size. Angel was such a fantastic waiter! So friendly, professional and provided incredible recommendations! Thank you so much, he is a credit to your restaurant. The octopus roll and the ribs in lettuce leaves are our favourites (recommended by Angel) and we had some amazing dessert wine too. We will be back!

If you want to eat fresh, local and well made Spanish food then you should consider to come here! I came here twice during my holiday in Malaga. As a fish lover I must say that the fish was really well made! Russian salad is definitely the best in town! Made with the prawns on top the delicate oil over it was absolutely amazing! The octopus in the brioche bun was something special. The taste of it with the contrast of all the other veggies on top was marvellous! The place can get very busy, come on time.
Silvia D — Google review
A highly recommended place, opposite the ruins of a Roman theater, with truly excellent food. The lamb with micro-couscous: a very tasty meat, undiluted by the spices, the couscous seasoned with cumin, which enhanced the flavor of the lamb. The same goes for the oxtail meatballs – the meat and that wonderful sauce were excellent. The tortilla with truffle – I'm at a loss for words to describe it properly; you can clearly taste the truffle, the tortilla itself is soft, semi-liquid inside. Perfect. I wish they served this in other places... The bone marrow with scallops – a flavorful masterpiece. A seemingly incongruous combination, yet complemented each other perfectly. The waiter suggested a very good local wine. The service was very efficient and helpful. The lighting could be more subdued and atmospheric.

We went to Uvedoble and the experience was absolutely fantastic. The place is cozy and well-designed, with a relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel welcome from the start. It’s located right in front of the Alcazaba – very atmospheric, with a view that steals your heart. We tried the croquettes, spicy potatoes, Spanish omelette, Russian salad, an amazing brioche filled with meat, and some outstanding squid ink spaghetti. Every dish was packed with flavor and beautifully presented – a real treat for the taste buds! Special mention to the staff: the waiters were incredibly friendly and kind.

Great restaurant! Everything I ordered tasted amazing. Their menu is very diverse and I loved that each dish came in multiple portion sizes and allows you to get a sampling of all their dishes. Their black nodules and swordfish ceviche were phenomenal! So was the tuna. The place can get quite busy. I was able to walk in and grab a bar seating, but if you’re a larger group, reservation is highly recommended.

Came across this restaurant by chance. Excellent pizza, well cooked, seasoned beautifully. Staff friendly and welcoming. Very well priced. Would definitely return.

Great value and quality pizza in an excellent location with friendly service. What more can you ask for!? Highly recommended the garlic bread to start with.

The cheese & spinach ravioli was really good, so is their pizza! I did not care for the gnocchi, the consistency was not to my liking. Everything else was fabulous!

The most delicious pizza in the city. Really friendly staff and English speakers. Good prices.

This is a simple pizza restaurant and it has about 8-10 tables to sit. In the door they have some pizzas ( more like focaccia and calzon) but if you want to sit down they offer other type of pizzas with thin crust. We were 4 and each orderee a pizza with a drink and we payed 23 Euros. In my opinion for the price it is a very good option if you want a better/gourmet pizza I suggest to go to another place. They took about 25 minutes bringing our pizzas. The price of small pizzas ( personal size) vary between 4 and 8 Euros and a family one from 9 to 18. Besides offering many flavours you can also have pasta, sandwiches or salad.

Great pizza, available in three different sizes (this is the small one) and a good tiramisu for dessert. Friendly and fast service, good experience.

It's a cute small place offering high quality pizzas with good and honest prices. Just the furniture is old fashion. The waiter is gentle and faster. However I can not complain.

Fine dining restaurant
José Carlos García Restaurante is a renowned dining establishment in Malaga, situated in a stylish setting with picturesque views of the harbor. The restaurant is led by José Carlos García, a Michelin-starred chef who honed his skills at his family's restaurant before launching his own venture. Offering innovative tasting menus featuring around 18 to 21 artfully presented dishes that showcase Andalusian roots, the restaurant provides a unique culinary experience.
We have been visiting quite a few michelin restaurants and we were not disapointed. We chose the green menu and it was perfect. We also added the cheese platter. Normally I get to full before the desserts but this time the amount of dishes and food was just enough to feel full but still enjoying all the dishes. A favorite was the sunflower “thing” as one of the starters. The texture and salty taste was so delicious. The ravioli with mushrooms and the cauliflower soup was also very tasty! The service and atmosphere was also a 5 star experience. I really recommend this restaurant!

The food is quite good and interesting, but i was not impressed with the service. Everything was 'by a book', but it was really hard to spot a smile on people's faces, and I would not rank my experience as unique enough. I think customer service still has some work to do. The atmosphere and the ambience is pretty nice.

I would like to thank Jose Carlos and his incredible team Lourdes, Dario and Salva to make this an unforgettable dining experience! From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable—attentive an every single detail was just perfect. Every course was a work of art, both visually and in flavor. The tasting menu struck a perfect balance between creativity and comfort, every dish melted in the mouth. The wine pairing was thoughtful and elevated each dish to new heights. It’s clear why they’ve earned a Michelin star—attention to detail, atmosphere, innovation, and hospitality are all top-tier. Highly recommended for a special occasion or if you just appreciate extraordinary food.

Three-course-menu at Jose Carlos Garcia / 1 Michelin star today: We have bern several times at the restaurant before and although we enjoyed the normal/ large menu, we felt always really stuffed in the end. So we were quite happy as we saw the new possibility for a small lunch. We get four different appetizers, a starter and a main (you can both choose from four different suggestions). In the end, you can have cheese or a desert. And we got four sweets each with the coffee. It was such a great expirience and absolutely worth the money.

2.5 I had high expectations given the reputation, but unfortunately the overall experience was underwhelming. The food felt uninspired—technically fine, but lacking soul or any real highlights. The wine list was surprisingly uninteresting for a restaurant of this level, and the service, while correct, came across as robotic and detached. It felt more like going through the motions than enjoying a memorable dining experience. Disappointing, especially considering the price.

Dining at José Carlos García Restaurant in Málaga was nothing short of extraordinary. Located in the charming Muelle Uno, this Michelin-starred and Repsol two-Soles gem delivered an evening of refined creativity, exquisite flavors, and impeccable hospitality. From the moment we arrived, the staff demonstrated thoughtfulness and attention to detail, especially in adapting the tasting menu to accommodate my crustacean allergy, without compromising on taste or presentation. Each dish was a miniature work of art, as visually stunning as it was delicious. The progression of flavors throughout the menu was masterfully curated, with local ingredients presented in innovative and elegant forms. The textures, balance, and seasoning were all pitch-perfect, and the use of unexpected elements felt exciting rather than gimmicky. We also opted for the wine pairing, which was an inspired decision. Each glass was beautifully matched to the course, showcasing both Spanish wines and expert pairing finesse. The sommelier’s knowledge added another layer to the experience. Overall, this was not just a dinner, it was a celebration of contemporary Andalusian cuisine at its finest. Highly recommended for food lovers seeking a truly special dining experience.

Went there for my wife's birthday. We had already eaten in his other restaurant Balausta which was very good so had high expectations. We had a table at the front of the restaurant which overlooks the harbour but wooden screens are placed in front of the windows for privacy. It is beautiful inside and you can see the chefs cooking. The food is incredible and each dish we had seemed to be better than the last. It is expensive as we paid €5 for a small bottle of water and €16 for a mocktail as we don't drink alcohol. Overall it was worth it and would highly recommend going there. Staff were friendly and explained every dish. The food itself is like art on a plate.

Shopping mall
Muelle Uno is a vibrant open-air complex located along a waterfront promenade in Malaga. The area features contemporary shops, restaurants, and various attractions such as playgrounds and a maritime museum. Additionally, visitors can explore the compact Centre Pompidou gallery showcasing 20th-century art, including works by Picasso. On the second Sunday of every month, Muelle Uno hosts an excellent flea market offering ecological foods and vintage clothing. Local artisans also showcase their work at stalls every Sunday.
It’s a wonderful place whether you want to take a walk or enjoy a meal or a drink. There’s a wide selection of restaurants offering various cuisines and price ranges—from elegant dining spots to affordable fast-food options. The view of the moored yachts adds to the relaxing atmosphere as you sit at the restaurant tables. In this promenade, you’ll also find several clothing and shoe stores, shops for fans of Spanish sports clubs, and souvenir stores. Regularly, various artisan markets are held here, showcasing unique regional products. And just a few steps away, you’ll find yourself at the iconic Malagueta.

Most of Muello Uno is geared towards cruise liner visitors, but a few rise above that level, such as this excellent restaurant, Plaza. We had their '4 tapas, chef's choices. And these were all delicious, proper Spanish, dishes. The portions were more like racionnes than tapas, which you will understand if you know Spain at all.

This has nothing to do with Muelle Uno Location: Held in the Málaga Arena, close to the city center and the harbor – a beautiful setting for a gastronomic festival. Concept: The festival was meant to promote top restaurants, including Michelin-starred ones. Unfortunately, this goal was not achieved. Food: - Tapas did not really invite ordering. Simple in flavor, lacking creativity and presentation. - Expectations were clearly much higher; chefs and their restaurants were poorly promoted. - It felt like “fighting” at the long bar just to get a tapa. Drinks: - The bar was a disaster. Twice we had to wait over 30 minutes to get a drink. Organization: - Far too few standing tables, leaving people wandering around with a drink in one hand and a tapa in the other. Eating like this was very inconvenient. - The DJ played on old-fashioned turntables, which felt amateurish with skipping records – reminded me of my youth when I did the same in my bedroom with friends. Conclusion: Overall, the event came across as amateurish and poorly organized. The chefs and their restaurants did not stand out at all. Beautiful location, but disappointing execution.

The museum presents an array of reference works from the Center Pompidou collection and hosts diverse exhibitions and multidisciplinary experiences, along with workshops.
We visited on a Sunday after 4pm which it’s free, even for the Kandinsky exhibit. Lovely displays of work. Very hot inside still. The gift shop I feel could be a bit better as it’s very small.

The building is iconic so it's good to visit, but more for the fomo than the supposed exceptionality of the gallery. It's a nice view, but probably nothing that stays with you for too long. It's good that almost all of the information is also in English.

We were on a long cruise and one stop was Malaga. We spent the day exploring the city. Lots to see there. Near the docks, we found the Pompidou Center cube building. Beautiful colors and hard to miss. We did not attempt to enter as we were short of time and other things were waiting.

A great place to visit if you love modern and contemporary art. The ticket on the official website costs €7, while some third-party sites sell it for around €9, so it’s definitely better to buy directly. The museum also has convenient parking nearby, which makes the visit easy. The colorful cube outside is iconic, and the exhibitions inside are well-curated and inspiring. Highly recommended for art lovers visiting Málaga!

El Pimpi is a must-visit in Malaga, known as an iconic meeting place for locals and tourists alike. Established in 1971 within an 18th-century mansion, it is surrounded by significant historical and cultural landmarks such as the Alcazaba, Roman Theatre, Picasso Museum, and Plaza de la Merced. This historic winery offers a taste of local gastronomy and wines while immersing visitors in the tradition and culture of southern Spain.
This is a truly special place. We arrived a bit early, as it can get very busy, and I’m glad we did. The service was spot on—absolutely nothing more we could have asked for. And the food… what can I say? It was amazing! Generous portions and incredible flavor made for a perfect meal. Highly recommended. Special mention to Javi that works there and recommended what to eat. We'll be back!
Dan A — Google review
We had dinner at El Pimpi and were excited to experience one of Málaga’s most iconic spots. The atmosphere is undeniably charming—vibrant, full of character, and beautifully located in the heart of the old town. The restaurant was packed, and while that’s a good sign, it did affect the service. We only saw our waiter when he took our order, and another brought us the bill, which made it feel a bit impersonal. We shared the Mediterranean salad, and tried both the sea bream and the chicken. The dishes arrived hot and fresh, which we appreciated. The flavours were a bit on the mild side—not bland in a bad way, but definitely understated. That said, we’d rather season our own food than be overwhelmed by salt. Overall, the food was good, but not particularly memorable. You come here more for the experience and ambiance than for a standout culinary moment. Worth a visit if you want to soak in the local vibe, but maybe not a place we’d rush back to for the food alone.

This bar is apparently 49% owned by Antonio Banderas. It seems to be a collection of spaces, including two indoor areas and the outside covered Terrace that we enjoyed. We were part of a bus tour that was doing a Malaga wine tasting. The wine was fantastic and came with some olives and chips. Many of our group stayed for a meal and said it was superb. It situation in the old town is perfect as it is directly in front of the old Roman amphitheatre. It’s a great place for a drink to sit and watch the crowds go by and enjoy some quality Spanish wine and food.

We know that over time, these establishments often lose their quality, but this is not the case here. The quality and service are exceptional. You'll be satisfied no matter what you order, if you know what you're looking for. Above all, order the sweet wine, especially their most famous sweet orange wine; it pairs beautifully with their dishes. Enjoy!

Busy Busy Busy at 7: PM. Managed to get a table for 1 inside. Great food. The servers really hustle and do a great job. Very picturesque interior with various rooms, including (at least 1) barroom that was vacant upon my arrival but bustling by 8:15. I came specifically for the ajoblanco and it was very good with a seasonal fruit sorbet. Be prepared! The menu is only available through QR code but it does have a handy (necessary?) feature that you can check off what you want and it will translate it for the waiter. The waiter tried to tell me that I was ordering too much, which I appreciate but I went ahead anyway.

Went to this Bodega as we were looking for a place to eat lunch and have a rest. We were able to get a seat on the patio and service was prompt and efficient. Experienced tapas and Aperol as a light refreshing cocktail for lunch. We ordered the Calamari and potato wedges and they were delicious 😋. Definitely a place to be at in Malaga. Worth the visit.

Super delicious food and wine and historical nice interior. You can enjoy your meal with Alcazaba view. Don’t expect a very good service, you need to pay attention to catch the waitresses. Due to very good food and the view, we visited the place multiple times.

Had lunch at El Pimpi and it was a memorable experience! The ambience was full of charm—bustling, lively, and steeped in Andalusian character. Although it was quite crowded, we were seated surprisingly quickly. The service stood out—absolutely impeccable. The staff were warm, attentive, and professional throughout. As for the food, the black paella was a bit salty. But the pil-pil prawns more than made up for it—easily the highlight of the meal, bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. Overall, a great spot in Málaga worth visiting for both the atmosphere and hospitality!

Perched majestically on a hilltop, the Alcazaba is a stunning Moorish-style fortress that offers breathtaking views of the sea and lush gardens adorned with fountains. Constructed in the mid-8th century atop Roman ruins, this well-preserved citadel rivals even Granada's Alhambra in charm.
Short queue to enter on a hot Sunday. Was €7 each to go in. The ruins are immense, spread out over multiple layers and over a wide area. The views are incredible. There are so many features to see - gardens, walls, water features, galleries, etc. absolutely worth a visit. Seeing the uncovered Roman amphitheatre was a bonus too. Amazing place to visit.

The Alcazaba in Málaga is an absolute highlight of the city! This Moorish fortress is an impressive testament to history and offers breathtaking views of the city and the sea. The complex is well-preserved and offers a fascinating mix of walls, towers, and gardens. The architecture is unique and the atmosphere is very peaceful. You can easily imagine the history of the Moors and Spaniards. The views of the city and harbor are simply breathtaking. I recommend visiting early in the morning or late in the afternoon when the sun isn't too strong. The Alcazaba is a must-see for anyone visiting Málaga!
Duha G — Google review
The Alcazaba is a a beautiful place to explore, there is a lot of architectural history and beautiful gardens. It does require you to walk uphill at times, there are narrow stairs and some tight spaces but it can easily be navigated even at peak times. We went on a Sunday when admission was free, however we booked on the website to have an English speaking tour which was led by Salvador. He provided a lot of interesting context and historical information - he was also very knowledgeable about the structures and materials used in the fort. We viewed all parts of the Alcazaba and there was time to browse by ourselves later. The views are magnificent and we really enjoyed the experience.

Loved this piece of history. Walking around and feeling people lived here so many years ago. So much has been preserved and very grateful for this. Also an amazing view over the Bullring, the harbour and coastline. These semi ruins are precious and worth a visit. A must seen in Malaga.

Fantastic Alcazaba This is a great moorish castle that is easy to visit as it sits more or less in the Malaga town centre. The views are fantastic and so is the architecture of the building. We really enjoyed wandering around here, plus it is surrounded by gardens, so in summer when it get really hot it is a nice place to cool off a bit.

€10 to enter this fortress also includes entrance to the castle further on after you exit (note both are free to enter after 14:00pm every Sunday The walk to the top is really interesting with lots of different areas to climb up steps and explore the pathways can be steep and uneven surfaces but well worth the effort to be presented with amazing views of Malaga ! There’s a small Bar/cafe inside set within an area in the shade and also toilets, recommend to don’t join the long queue for the toilets at the bar and keep moving as you’ll find toilets with little to no queue further on into the grounds As we visited off peak on a Sunday We queued for around 10 mins to enter but once we came out at 13:40ish the queue was already all the way back out and down to the street for the free entrance on a Sunday
Mzazi — Google review
Great fortress and palace to visit but go in the afternoon when the cruise ship tourist are gone as it is very crowded in the mornings. The entry cost is only €1.50 but free in the afternoon. You will need at least three hours to soak it all up as some of the Nasrid architecture and gardens are beautiful and more so if you can just ponder. The Alcazaba, whose name al-Qasba means urban fortress, is located on the slope of Mount Gibralfaro, in the small bay where the city of Malaga is located. Its strategic position has led to it having been inhabited by ancient civilizations such as the Phoenicians, who settled on the mountain around 600 BC. The Romans settled in its surroundings, on the southern slope, where remains of a Roman villa and also industrial facilities for salting fish were found, and on the western slope of Mount Gibralfaro, where they built a theater in the 1st century. During the Islamic period, the Alcazaba was initially built as a fortification and later became a palace-fortress, the seat of the city government.

Los Patios de Beatas is a renowned restaurant and winery located in the heart of Malaga's old town. Housed in two historic mansions, it boasts an extensive wine collection with over 600 national and international wines available for purchase. The restaurant offers a unique dining experience, featuring an original patio and 17th-century stone wine vats. Guests can enjoy creative dishes paired with a wide selection of wines, including options to take away or savor by the glass on-site.
We had such a great experience. We ordered the testing menu at 80€ (it is worth the price!!!). The food was absolutely delicious. We even had the Chef come and see us a few times to explain the dishes. The service was amazing. You can also visit the wine cave. It was one of the best meal we had in Málaga.

We had dinner here and have mixed feelings about the experience. The place is beautiful – the decor is elegant, and the atmosphere is charming. Service was excellent; we really appreciated the attention to detail from the staff, like how the olive oil was poured and the sommelier’s wine recommendations – very professional and welcoming. However, the food itself was underwhelming. For starters, we had the pork belly and tiradito de calamar. The fish was fantastic – fresh and full of flavor. Sadly, the pork belly was dry and tasteless, which was disappointing because it had great potential to be an outstanding dish. For mains, we had the entrecôte and a black cod dish with coconut sauce. This time, the reverse: the steak was excellent – juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The fish, however, was disappointing. The coconut sauce was so overpowering that it completely masked the flavor of the fish. I couldn’t even finish it. The baby vegetable salad was nicely dressed and a pleasant side. Overall, we really wanted to love this place – and there’s a lot to like – but for this price, we expected the food to be more consistent in quality. A bit of a hit and miss.

Spent over a week in Spain and this was our favorite spot for tapas and wine by far!! Stopped here on a food and wine tour and we ended up coming back to order more tapas and wine afterwards! The red wine was absolutely phenomenal and the variety here is amazing. So many different options depending on what you prefer. Also, the included bread and olive oil is delicious and incredibly fresh. We also had the croquettes with ham, which were the best we tried in Spain as well. The jamon serrano was delicious and cut to order! This paired so well with our red wine. Overall, this wine bar has phenomenal food, atmosphere and great service as well. Do not miss out on this spot!

Really nice place for a bigger group. We got really good service and the wine tasting was perfect to have on the side of the dinner. The risotto with pumpkin(?) and squid was amazing. One in the group however had the black cod and felt really bad afterwards so we are guessing food poisoning. Make sure the fish is thoroughly cooked or skip that one. There's plenty of other good options for main course.

We really enjoyed our time at the Alcazaba P Hotel. It’s busy position means it’s noisy with people sounds most of the time inc. early in the morning. If that’s a shock to you, you are an idiot. The windows are high quality and deaden the sound massively. The hotel is a bit rustic so if you expect a brand new perfect lines interior and blinds that don’t show any wear, again, you are an idiot. The sun is hard on those wooden blinds so they have some wear marks. The interior is functional and I expect our room (13) is due to have some improvements due with the shower soon as it didn’t have a glass screen. But more importantly, the water pressure was strong and the water was hot. Reception people were friendly and very helpful and on top of their job. The cleaners were lovely people and did everything with a smile. The breakfast restaurant team were always friendly and helpful also. We are grateful for all the lovely staff and would definitely come back for the gorgeous position and balcony. Pro-Tips: Italian left of the hotel is a great option and you can still get hotel WiFi. Also, get squishy ear plugs for a better sleep if you are in bed before the bars close (attached photo).

This hotel is perfectly located in the middle of all the main attractions. Despite a massive street party and loud noises outside, our room was completely quiet and very comfortable. The rooms were spotless with excellent air conditioning keeping it nice and cool. Breakfast was served on the top floor and was the best quality I’ve had—definitely impressive. All staff spoke excellent English and were very friendly. Although we stayed only one night, I would recommend this hotel for longer stays. It truly offers great quality, especially if you’re used to 4 or 5-star accommodations. Plus, it has both an elevator and stairs for easy access.

I liked this hotel. It was very convenient. Right next to the famous Alcazaba (Fort built by the Moors) There is a rooftop bar and restaurant. The restaurant on the top is where you eat your breakfast. There is an elevator so no issues with going up and down. We booked with breakfast included and that was great as the breakfast is good here. I especially enjoyed the ham and cheese omelettes they prepared for us. The coffee and orange juice is also very good. They have an expresso coffee machine. The views from the restaurant are nice. Since the hotel is in the " Casco Antiguo" historical part of town, it's very convenient for going to see many museums, cathedrals and shopping areas. We had a corner room which had a rounded configuration on the corner with large French style window/doors you can open for beautiful views and fresh air. The AC worked very well and there was plenty of hot water. The room had a small refrigerator which was very handy to keep water cold. They put two small bottles of water in the room everyday which were complimentary. You can find a huge number of restaurants in the area.

Extremely noisy from the bar across the street. Unable to get any useful sleep until the middle of the night. Location is excellent, and the rooftop terrace cocktail bar is first class. Staff is friendly and helpful BUT sleep is important. I won't return.

We didn't stay in the hotel, we went to the rooftop bar. Visit quite regularly, this evening, Saturday was very quiet. Just for drinks with family. Lovely views, slightly more expensive. Have eaten in the restaurant part in the past, floor below. Very tasty food.

Most central it doesn’t get. The rooftop bar and restaurant with view on the Alcazaba are the highlights of the hotel. We didn’t really feel disturbance from the outside noise.

La Cosmo | Dani Carnero | Restaurant in Málaga

Restaurant
La Cosmo, a restaurant in Málaga by chef Dani Carnero, offers a unique culinary experience in a stylish and relaxed setting. Located near the city's cathedral, it combines tradition with a refreshing twist. The restaurant has been recognized in the Michelin guide for its exceptional dining experience. Guests can enjoy watching the chefs at work from the bar while savoring dishes like Gildas, Oysters, Leek, beef tartar burger, and corn 'flan'.
La Cosmo is a true hidden gem in the heart of Málaga, created by Chef Dani Carnero. The focus on seafood and fish is exceptional. We had the best oysters and scallops we've had in a long time. The menu features highly creative dishes, like a flan beautifully contrasted with the flavor of salty popcorn. The atmosphere is relaxed yet vibrant, with attentive and friendly service. I would honestly return to Málaga just to dine here again – an absolute must-visit.

We had dinner here and sat inside at a table. Very nice smart restaurant, the service was generally good. All of the dishes we ordered were of excellent quality. One comment I have, is that we ordered the duck as our main course. The quality was excellent and cooked to perfection, but it looked very uninteresting as it was just a sliced duck breast with a brush of sauce on quite a large plate, served with a green salad which consisted of a small bowl of chopped lettuce. I personally would expect a far better presentation at this price point and quality of restaurant. However we did not let it spoil our evening. The quality of the wine was excellent and well priced,. it was Friday night it was very busy and the atmosphere was very good.

Top notch food. The steak tartare was probably the best version of the dish I had; granted, it's unconventional, but the sandwich style with fixings is so so good. Get a bar seat for the best view, the crew is energetic and watching them do their thing is a delight. The leek carbonara and the squid also stood out.
Relja M — Google review
Had dinner for two at La Cosmo after recommendations by waiter at sister restaurant La Cosmopolita. And the food was amazing!!! We started with a delicious cocktail, and delicious bread (🤤). For dinner, we went for: 1) tomato with basil oil and cottage cheese sauce 2) Leek a la carbonara 3) duck with homemade barbecue sauce and 4) octopus with piparra sauce. All dishes were, for us, a 10/10! 1) tomato with basil: we drank the sauce - and the tomatoes were firm and tasty 2) leek a la carbonara: WOW! If it's on the menu, and you love onion and carbonara, then this one is made for you. The soft leek that brings out the sweet, onion flavour, in combination with the egg yolk and saltiness of the parmisian... So delicious, and perfect to share as it is really rich in flavour. 3) Duck with homemade barbecue sauce: duck was cooked to perfection, and the sauce...... Incredible! One of is isn't a fan of the typical, cheap barbecue sauce, so was sceptic at first. But this one had the perfect balance of smokiness, salt and sweet! A real surprise, with a nice fresh salad (could personalle have a bit less vinegar for one of us). 4) Ultimately, we had the squid. Two little squids with piparra emulsion. So tasty, as we love a whole squid and cooked to perfection. Overall, for us a great experience. Personally regarding service & atmosphere: we like a bit more warmth & atmosphere from staff when going dinner. However, we do understand that when a restaurant like this wants to achieve a certain level of experience, this type of service fits. I think you do experience a different vibe when you are seated at the bar, and get to talk to the chefs a bit. For two people, we spent 115eu and had 4 dishes, 3 glasses of wine and 2 cocktails. Thank you La Cosmo, see you soon!

We visited La Cosmo in Málaga (Bib Gourmand 2025) for lunch, but unfortunately the experience left us rather disappointed. The food was flavorful and well presented, yet the portions were ridiculously small — €7 for a single tiny anchovy with a dot of burrata, or €24 for just a few slices of duck and a spoonful of sauce. The service, however, was the real letdown. Our waitress seemed completely disinterested — no smile, no engagement, and we waited ages just to have our order taken. We even had to ask twice for the wine we had already ordered. Olive oil for the bread was offered only after we had finished eating it. I had mentioned in the reservation that we were celebrating my mother’s birthday — a special occasion that went completely unnoticed. It also felt like the staff preferred to focus on local guests, and speaking English seemed to be an inconvenience for them. While the kitchen clearly has skill, the overall experience lacked warmth, care, and the sense of hospitality you would expect from a Bib Gourmand restaurant.
Michał S — Google review
La Cosmo unfortunately did not live up to our expectations. The service felt cold and disjointed, except for our main waiter, Emilio, who was very friendly and very knowledgeable. The other staff, however, bumped into my arm and knocked our table multiple times. No one brought us cutlery for one of our courses. Our water was refilled once and never again. They forgot the olive oil we ordered with our bread. Food was flavourful and well presented, but some textures were not to our liking. The food itself is pretty good value, but the service leaves a lot to be desired and did not live up to our expectations for a Michelin recommendation. That said, the corn flan was absolutely incredible.
William M — Google review
I visited La Cosmo as a solo traveller, hoping for a pleasant experience — but it ended up being disappointing. Sharing this in case it helps other solo or international travellers manage expectations. Although the tiramisu was nice, I felt overlooked throughout the meal. I waited quite a while before anyone took my order, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. I had to signal several times just to order, ask about dessert, or pay. What stood out most was the contrast between how I was treated compared to nearby Spanish-speaking guests, who were greeted warmly and served more attentively. I speak fluent English and was polite, but still felt disregarded. I understand it’s a local spot and not all staff may speak English — but the issue wasn’t language, it was a lack of effort to make all guests feel equally included. Given its Bib Gourmand recognition, I expected a more consistent and respectful experience.

Cool place, worthy to visit and have a delicious dinner right here. Not so busy area of the city, what I found as advantage if you wanna have more lay back dinner with your soulmate. I had here definitely one of the best deserts in my life.

I was here twice druing my holiday. Once to eat their famous meat dish and a second time sitting at the bar as it was so full. The waiter at the first time was very friendly and opened a bottle for me for one glass only that usually would be sold per bottle only. The boss the next time was more strict. :-) Only thing that could be better if they would have one or two wines of high quality sold per glass instead of bottle. I spent the whole friday afternoon there eating seafood, drinking and chatting with other guests at the bar.

I went to eat with my partner and we were treated liked we were not paying, several times called the waitress and they looked at us but took ages to come, we ordered clams on the grilled with no garlic because I am pregnant and I can’t handle garlic and they brought it with garlic sauce, asked them and said they only sell it on garlic sauce… anyway… The rest of the food was brilliant.

Centro Comercial Larios Centro is a renowned shopping destination in Malaga, conveniently located near the city's transportation hubs. This expansive mall spans 99,000 square meters across two floors and houses 153 establishments, including a diverse array of fashion boutiques such as Zara, H&M, and Primark. Additionally, it features popular dining options like Burger King and McDonald's.
This is a big shopping centre just outside of Málaga. When I was there I enjoyed walking around the shops and I especially liked the massive Primark in the centre. There is also a supermarket in the basement and a Burger king by the main entrance. If you are looking for a shopping experience in the Costa del Sol then this is the centre for you. Please note that this centre is a 3 minute walk from Málaga main train station and is about a 15 to 20 minute walk away from the main Málaga city centre.

A great shopping centre. Plenty of well known shops, loads of parking at a reasonable price, nice location. In April there are beautiful blossom type trees outside the main entrance, gorgeous. It's spotless everywhere, nice and spacious so you don't get squashed during busy periods

A truly charming store! From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed by a warm atmosphere, soft lighting, and a beautifully organized selection of products. The staff was friendly and helpful, making the experience even more enjoyable. I spent a lovely afternoon browsing and discovering unique finds. So glad I stumbled upon this delightful shop!

Nice shop bit on the posh end. Yet it's not well post signed, we went on the opposite direction when we came out of the station. Whereas is they post signs well it's on the left hand side and you can see the place. But it's a learning experience

I shipped until I dropped for my kids and enjoyed the vibe of the mall and clean, good air conditioning, along with a variety of stored and food.

A great range of shops here and restaurants upstairs. For the Irish missing home there is Primark (Pennies). This is the largest one here in Málaga and it covers two floors! Dunnes Stores here as well and a fantastic range of shoe & handbag stores for everyone!
Rosie K — Google review
Parking is a nightmare if you don't know the system! It's free for a short time only and the time is insufficient for seeing everything at the centre or including refreshments. Before going to your car ensure you go to the control centre parking office (if you can find it) present your ticket and, if you are over the time limit, you need to show them a purchase receipt to get free parking. Control centre is not on top floor so if you park there you'll need to go to the next level down. Won't be returning as just too much hassle.

Nestled in the historic building of the old Malaga Wholesale Market, CAC Málaga (Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga) is a vibrant hub for contemporary art enthusiasts. Established in 2003, this center aims to highlight both Spanish and international artists, showcasing an impressive array of works from painting to mixed media installations. Just a stone's throw from iconic landmarks like the Alcazaba and Roman Theater, CAC Málaga features spacious exhibition halls that beautifully accommodate diverse artworks.
I love this place, I always visit when I'm in Malaga. The exhibition is updated frequently and has never disappointed me. I love being there and I often spend a few hours there those. A perfect alternative the wonderful beaches, the old town or the marina that Malaga obviously provides.

Quirky modern art museum. At the time of visit in early September 2024 less than half of the building was open (admission via side door) but tge exhibits still enjoyable including a couple of Andy Warhols.

Unlike in for instance in a museum of fine arts, you never know what to expect in a museum of contemporary art. It can be anything and the appreciation or dislike greatly depends on one's own background and taste. I was not impressed when I visited this museum. It's much of the same as you see nowadays in most museums of contemporary art. The good thing was the entrance was free
Seimen B — Google review
A nice contemporary art center with two temporary exhibitions and one permanent collection show on view. The entrance is free, so it's worth a visit. You can download the exhibition catalogues with QR codes, but not all the information are available in English.
Dalma K — Google review
There were several paintings by different painters and some individual collections. These are the ones that I enjoyed the most. I guess they could have got more paintings in as the place is quite big, and it seemed the space was not utilized to the maximum. Having said that, it was quite an experience. Their restaurant next door was quite busy, but the book and gift shop was closed
Thomas B — Google review
If you’re looking for free things to do in Malaga, try visiting this museum of contemporary art. Just off the city centre not too far by walking. It’s unpretentious and there are some beautiful pieces to take a look at, it’s housed in large open rooms, so you can walk around and absorb the whole exhibit in probably less than 3 hours.
K J — Google review
Five stars because the museum is free (it’s hard to complain when it’s free). To be objective, I could’ve been lucky to get into the free exhibition. Nevertheless, the place looks modern inside with lots of contemporary art. I would recommend to visit the place
Vladislavas L — Google review
This is one of my favourite galleries! The art is modern and accessible for most you're sure to find something you'll like but for me this is only the start. What I really appreciated was the size of the gallery and the space to walk around and be free. The white walls also added to this openness. You'll find some large scale canvases here which makes sense given the sheer scale of the place. The other bonus to this is that you are very unlikely to have any issue walking around people as you navigate from one piece to the next. All in all a lovely space and I hope to come again one day.

Hammam Al Ándalus Baños Árabes is a luxurious retreat in Malaga, offering a serene experience amidst elegant Arabesque architecture. The interior resembles a Moorish palace with its marble floors and intricately tiled walls and ceilings. The venue prioritizes cleanliness and comfort, providing cold, warm, and hot pools, steam sauna, and heated massage tables made of marble. Visitors can rejuvenate with the thermal baths followed by an invigorating scrub.
My first time here I absolutely loved it 🥰 great way to relax within Malaga. The staff were so welcoming and helpful giving directions as there’s so many spaces to relax. 🧘‍♀️ I will definitely do this again when I’m back in Malaga soon ✨
Raine T — Google review
I love visiting spas and baths, and when I saw the good reviews for this place, I wanted to try it out, even though the price was on an expensive side. Long story short - it was definitely not worth the money. The place looks nice, I especially liked the changing rooms. The atmosphere around the pools with dimmed lights and candles is cool, and it wasn't crowded, probably because I booked the last slot for the day. However, the water in the 'hotter' pool was not hot enough for me, it was just warm. I was planning on going to this spa on a particular day when I really needed to get warm, but the pool did not do it for me. So, I went into the steam room, and got the heat I needed. Nevertheless, this was still disappointing, as I could go to a steam room elsewhere, and I particularly went to this place for a hot bath. I have also read reviews here praising some tea that was offered at this place, and I was rather interested, as I like trying new teas. It turned out to be Rooibos, which is something I take on weekly basis, so it wasn't some special mixture to be impressed by, as one would deduct from the reviews. When I entered the baths, I was advised to go to a place where they hold fragrances of massage oils, so I can choose the one I liked the best for my massage. All of them smelled really nice, so it was a hard decision to make. About half time into my stay, I was called for a massage. I told the masseuse the fragrance of the oil of my choice, and the massage started. However, it wasn't really a massage. It was so soft, that it was literally just caressing. And I couldn't really smell the oil I have chosen. After 15 minutes, the 'massage' was done, and I was told to go take a shower using the shower gel, so that I would take off the oil before going back to the bath. Needless to say, there was no point in using that lovely fragrance oil as I hardly even noticed it. After taking a shower, I wanted to get warm again, so I went back to the steam room. But at this point in time, the steam room was not that hot, as they have turned off the steam, probably because it was close to closing time. So, I went back to the 'hotter' pool, and got disappointed again by its temperature. Worth mentioning is that the staff is pleasant, but nothing over-the-top which I also saw in other reviews. The shower gels and shampoos also have a nice smell to them. All said and done - this place is definitely not worth the price. I have been to several other similar places that cost less, and got much greater value than at this place.

Booked the Midra service with water journey, massage and hot foam. Very worthwhile, relaxing experience. Well-organised process. The interior is a labrynth but staff direct you to the various areas. The masseuse offers to concentate on legs or upper body. Choice of oils offered for the massage. The foam experience felt tingling. Left feeling wonderfully relaxed and refreshed.

Brilliant Hamman, staff are so polite. Lockers are very secure, the changing rooms have eveything, hair dryer, straightners, creams, deodrant and combs. The inside is stunning and the massages cant be missed! Steam room and Sauna can easily be missed so make sure you ask!
Will S — Google review
I booked a 1 hour massage because I desperately needed it. I have so many knots in my back and neck and STILL DO AFTER MY “MASSAGE”. I asked the lady at check in if I was with someone who could do hard pressure and she said “just tell them what you want” so at the beginning of the massage I asked her to do firm and hard pressure and she started using her forearms back and forth over and over and when she went back to using her hands, it felt like she was just applying the oil over my skin to moisturize it. I asked her again to apply more pressure and she just couldn’t so I said ok, can you just do my feet? She said she can’t apply oil to my feet and said sorry. Very disappointed because for the price, you’re just paying for the baths and amenities basically. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE MASSAGE.
Madison C — Google review
Nice experience, but for sure overpriced I visited the Hamam for the first time. The building is super beautiful inside, also made cozy with light just of lots of real candles and they serve really nice tea. The water of the three warm pools is nice warm, but one bath more hot or some sauna would be nice. The massage was, how others already stated, really soft, but I had a nice masseuse so I could still enjoy and relax. You are not allowed to wear shoes, so everywhere the ground is slippery, this rule I don't get... Overall I had a really nice experience. Not nice was, that just in my booking confirmation they told me I am only allowed to stay 1,5h in the bath, the time for the massage does not come on top! For the price of 93Euros (15min scrub, 15min massage, 1 hour bath)... really a bit scam. I don't regret I made this today but you should really think about your pricing.
Hoo P — Google review
Very good. Nice staff. Luxuriant atmosphere. Changing areas good. Baths and steam rooms were excellent. Only downside was that they had run out of footwear; the corridors and stairs were slippery; and this was a hazard. I'd still give it 5 stars despite this. That reflects just how relaxing and calm it was otherwise.
Paul S — Google review
The place is beautiful, and the staff very welcoming. Its a very relaxing experience if you have never been. why only 3 stars? The 15min scrub and Massage were under par, very soft, didn't feel like a lot of effort was put into them, more like passing hand gently over your back - which is noce but no massage. Hot water pool is at best described to be warm. not cheap but a relaxing experience if you come with not very hight expectations

The friendly staff and warm atmosphere make it a great spot for families. Customers can enjoy sitting on the terrace while savoring the delicious pizzas with original toppings and thin crusts. The service is excellent, and there are also vegetarian options available.
Best pizza in Malaga. Independently run by a *real* Sicilian. Can’t get better than that. Love the small, romantic plaza it is in, too. A great Malaga experience.

Delicious pizza, made fresh to order! We popped in right before it got busy, this place is absolute “must got to” place! Cozy, beautiful and staff so friendly, happy to help with everything 🥰

We came in 15 min before close, the chef was tired after the whole day but was happy to serve us a quick take away! Live save after some late night carnival dancing :)

We were looking for the best pizzaplace in Malaga and spent some time googling it and checked with local experts. We got some recommendations and Arte was one of them. In short, very good location in a small and cute plaza. The waiter was great, helpful and very nice. I wasn't blown away with the pizza but good crust and thin dough indicates that the baker knows what he's doing.

Tapas restaurant
Mesón Ibérico is a traditional bar and eatery in Malaga, celebrating its twentieth anniversary as a benchmark of local cuisine. It's renowned for its delicious tapas and extensive menu featuring local flavors and national wines. The warm and friendly staff welcomes guests to enjoy the tiled interior while savoring traditional Malaga cuisine. Whether seated at the tables or enjoying the bar, visitors are encouraged to indulge in various snacks and immerse themselves in the lively atmosphere that keeps locals coming back for more.
We ordered the beef entrecôte and lamb ribs – wow, what an incredible taste! The meat was falling off the bone, tender and full of rich flavor. The seasoning was perfectly balanced. We also ordered four small sandwiches with different flavors – and again, wow! Each one was soft, delicious, and just melted in the mouth. The service was outstanding – our waitress explained everything in detail and gave great recommendations. We’ll definitely be coming back and recommending this place to others!

⭐️⭐️⭐☆☆ Yesterday night, we dined at Mesón Ibérico, it’s a local favourite with queues to get a chair, however as a tourist it was not my favourite taste! The service team was kind and attentive, making sure our needs were met throughout the meal. While the dishes offered original flavors, I felt that the presentation could use some improvement, as the designs were quite simple and lacked visual appeal. Additionally, the cooking felt straightforward without any special twists or creativity that might set the dishes apart. One thing to note is that a 10% tip is automatically added to the 🧾 bill!

Very enjoyable, the entrecôte steak was incredible, the portions were great for the price and the atmosphere was cozy and seemed very traditional. Beware that they do charge for the bread and breadsticks that are already on the table, however when we went we got complimentary olives and a little dessert which was very delicious.

Excellent food service and atmosphere! The flavour of the food was out of this world! We went back three nights!

A wonderful experience. Managed to find a spot at the bar - the place was very full - and had great tapas in a cosy atmosphere. We had the cheeks (delicious), red mullet, Russian salad and bun with black pudding. All very nice and felt like an authentic eatery that had no (or few) tourists (except us)

An amazing find, but apparently a local favourite, service was outstanding. With excellent recommendations, all with a level of attentiveness for the food. We sat at the bar and had a wonderful evening. Complimentary profiteroles rounded off a lovely evening.

Some friends from Malaga brought me there. Simply the best food I had in Malaga - most authentic, local vibe, amazing tapas and good wine. I was the only tourist 😁 there. They always offer a postre at the end of the meal. Lovely staff and nice vibe in the barrio ❤️. Best croquetas and baby clams I had in Malaga.

Been a few years since we had first eaten here. We arrived early because it gets very busy very quick. The octopus salad was really good as was the tuna dish, we also had quals eggs and pork cheeks. Everything was really good, lovely service from the guys behind the counter too. Only thing missing for me would have been some nice traditional background music, we felt the place needed it. All in excellent and would recommend.

3 RGT Pirata is a cozy Italian restaurant located on the west side of the city center. The owner, Serguei, warmly welcomes guests and provides excellent recommendations. Visitors rave about the exceptional pizza with light, flavorful crust and high-quality toppings. The handmade sausage and house-special pizza come highly recommended. Despite its unassuming appearance, this restaurant offers an unforgettable dining experience with delicious food and passionate service.
Really great little Italian restaurant. When we arrived without a reservation a table was made for us outside. The food was really great, one of the best pizzas I have ever had. Nice thin crust and very tasteful.

At the end of a long day and needing to find some food before Ubering back to the hotel, we fell upon this place. What amazing pizza!! I can't remember his name, but the gentleman working was a one man show of host/waiter, bar tender, and cook; super nice guy. It was a great experience!!

As an Italian, I can say that this is the best pizza I've had in Malaga, hands down! The dough is incredibly light, you won't feel it like a weight in your stomach, and the toppings are very good quality. The handmade sausage is delicious. We were recommended "La tremenda" and it was amazing.

Great pizzas! The first time I took for takeaway was a great experience. Today I wanted the same, and I arrived at 8.30PM for a takeaway, the gentleman tells me takeaway is not possible and to come in 30 mins. I come back at 9PM, goes in and asks the chef for my order and come back & bluntly tells me “no takeaway” at all. A pizzeria with a business-model bound for mediocrity. One thing I don’t take for granted - time. Clearly wasted my time hence the the two stars.

Restaurant
La Alacena de Francis is a popular eatery in Malaga, known for its Spanish and Russian menu featuring pelmeni, seafood, blini, and meat skewers. This cozy restaurant offers traditional dishes with a Russian twist and is highly recommended by locals. The friendly owners are happy to explain the ingredients in each dish. The menu includes unique items like smoked platter, flamenquines, crepes with orange, and chocolate blood sausage for dessert.
I live in Barcelona and eat excellent food on a regular basis, but the dining experience I had here is one of the best I’ve had in a very long time. The service was a breath of fresh air as the owner was absolutely attentive, kind, informative and helpful. He seemed genuinely happy to move between the three tables of the restaurant to help everyone make the most out of their respective meals. With only three tables, the entire experience is like having a lovely family dinner with people you don’t know. Everything we ordered was excellent, but of course, the smoked fish was the star. The flavor was so delicate and the preparation with a shot of vodka was such a memorable touch. The flamequin and potato pancakes were also flavorful and nicely prepared. The price point is excellent given the quality of the cuisine. I will always seek this restaurant out when in Málaga.

My husband & I came across this gem of a restaurant recently and cannot recommend it enough to anyone looking at booking. The owner Daniel was extremely friendly and went over and above to ensure we fully enjoyed the experience in his restaurant, which is run by him and his wife. He explained the dishes of which there are many and so we asked him to choose for us. Daniel smokes the fish himself and our starter was absolutely delicious - mix of smoked fish, recommend anyone who loves fish to order this. If you love good food and a place which is traditional, welcoming & relaxing and you want to get away from the tourist area then you must go here
SHARON M — Google review
Stunning food and cozy atmosphere. Daniel is a very welcoming owner/server and his food suggestions was spot on! Even as a person who is coming from Scandinavia which is well known for smoked fish, their home smoked fish was exceptionally tasty with a little bit Russian cuisine influence which made it even more interesting. Strongly recommended to visit although it would be best to book a table since it is only indoor dining area with only 5-6 tables.

Cozy, cute private place. Amazing service, super nice and guides you very well through the menu and even suggests on places to visit in Málaga. Food super tasty and interesting options
Juan C — Google review
The waiter/owner in himself is worth eating in the restaurant … he has lived many lives, knows all languages and countries in Europe. And he is of very good advice. Now for the food: the smoked fishes are amazing! The sweetbreads of lambs were mouth-watering. The artichokes al andalus: so simple yet so good. Don’t pass on the chance of having a shot of vodka with the smoked fishes. If you don’t know how to drink it, he’ll show you! There are only 6 tables in the restaurant and we were very lucky to be at one of these.
Franck R — Google review
This is a small but great family owned restaurant that serves Spanish and Russian food. We not only enjoyed every plate of food we ordered, but also enjoyed talking to Daniel. He recommended some food and drinks, gave us wine to try and served free small appetizers. Daniel will teach you how to drink vodka too! The next time we are in Malaga we will come over there for dinner. I recommend making a reservation because the restaurant is very small.
Yan S — Google review
Excellent flavoursome food, superbly guided by our host and cooked by his wife. This is a memorable experience for all the right reasons. Will be back on our next visit to Malaga.
John B — Google review
Wow! A unique dining experience, not only for Malaga standards, but beyond. The restaurant only has three tables. This is because the owner likes to have a close relation with the customer. He explains the history of the restaurant and its cuisine and also gives recommendations about the dishes. The house special is the smoked fish. Just delicious! In addition to the fish, he offers you a vodka shot and toasts with you explaining the Russian tradition for having vodka shots. The reataurant is nicely decorated, with a warm and cosy atmosphere. Will definitely repeat!

Perched majestically atop Mount Gibralfaro, the Castillo de Gibralfaro is a stunning remnant of Malaga's Moorish heritage. Originally constructed in the 8th century and later rebuilt in the 14th century, this fortress served as both a military stronghold and a lighthouse. While much of its interior has been altered over time, visitors can stroll along its protective ramparts to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the city below.
Great place to visit, but be prepared for a LOT of uphill walking. If you go in summer, bring super comfortable sneakers, a hairband, and plenty of water. The view from the top is absolutely breathtaking! They even provide fresh tap water at the hilltop for free, so don’t forget to bring a bottle or flask. The total cost is €17 to visit the main castle and the hilltop. You can drive up, but walking is more fun and a great workout. I did the walk in 34°C in August—and I survived!
Pinkel B — Google review
We were so lucky the day we visited — it happened to be a free entrance day for museums and attractions, so we saved €10 per person! 🎉 Surprisingly, it wasn’t crowded at all. The views from the lookout point and the castle are stunning — a full 360° view of Málaga that’s absolutely worth the effort. Inside the castle is beautiful and well preserved. 👉 A few tips if you’re going: The walk up is a good incline, about 10 minutes. Definitely skip high heels — I wore flat sandals and ended up taking them off to walk down! Wheelchair users: the castle grounds themselves are accessible, but the hike up is not. If you need access, make sure to take a taxi or the hop-on hop-off bus straight to the entrance. The view is worth it! If you don’t feel like climbing, the hop-on hop-off bus takes you to the top. You can also ride up and then walk down toward town for amazing views without paying entrance. In summer, try to avoid the hottest days — even with mild weather we were glad it was overcast. At the top, there are toilets and a small café. Along the climb, you’ll find guys selling bottled water for €1.50 — handy if you forget yours. A must-see if you’re in Málaga, whether for the history or just for those incredible views. 🌿🏰

Beautiful historic castle with one of the best panoramic views of Málaga — you can see the port, the bullring, and the entire city all the way to the sea. There’s a small free parking area at the top, but spaces are limited, especially on weekends. If it’s full, you can also park lower down and enjoy a scenic uphill walk through the pine forest about 15–20 minutes. Walking along the ancient fortress walls is a highlight the views from every corner are stunning, especially at sunset. Inside, you’ll also find a small museum with historical artifacts and models of the old city. Bring comfortable shoes, water, and your camera it’s absolutely worth the climb. The tickets cost 10€ combined with al Cazaba, and can be buy at the entrance machine
Yarmali O — Google review
The entire experience is well worth making time for. You can start the hike from near the tourist booth situated outside the Alcazaba and Roman Theatre. It is an uphill walk and definitely requires some time especially if you are walking in the heat, or don’t hike a lot. There are opportunities to rest along the way and take many pictures but it can be a tight squeeze and certain points. There isn’t a lot, if any side support for people to hold onto so it might be hard for someone finding heights difficult. You can climb majority of the way up for free (including a viewing platform) however to enter the very top you need to pay. If you need fresh cold water there is someone who sells it for €1.50 along the way. We didn’t have a ticket but it is possible to queue up (on the left) at the entrance and you can purchase tickets with cash or card. The views are something else and it is absolutely insane how gorgeous Malaga is!

Interesting Castle and grounds with great views over the city and coast. We walked from the city up the hill which was pleasant although could be a challenge in the heat of summer. Quite a popular attraction so it was crowded when we visited in the late morning - probably worth planning an earlier or later visit to avoid the crowds.
John S — Google review
This is a beautiful castle with beautiful fruit and olive trees. The panoramic views of malaga are breathtaking and price to visit is very reasonable. There is a small cafe but the food offered is limited but there is a real opportunity here to improve it to make it a better experience for visitors.

Entrance fee was €7 - we didn't go in. The views were truly stunning from the footpath. Very steep footpath which I would not recommend in the wet weather. The local bus is easy from Alameda Principal. It stops outside the fort for one hour (Sundays) and brings you back. I imagine the bus is busy. We walked back. The footpath looked very busy later in the day. I recommend going early when it is quieter and cooler.
Longfordmuse — Google review
Well worth the strenuous hike up (can get there by road, I believe). Very well maintained walls of the old castle. You can walk pretty much the entire length and the views are spectacular. Not a ton inside the castle walls, but the views alone make this a must do. Free on a Sunday after 2 pm. It'll be nice and quiet if you go before that and pay.

Nestled atop a hill just outside the bustling center of Malaga, the Mirador de Gibralfaro is an enchanting lookout point that promises breathtaking views of both the city and the shimmering Mediterranean Sea. Accessible by foot or bus, this scenic spot invites you to embark on a delightful journey through tree-lined paths, especially magical at sunrise or sunset when the landscape transforms into a canvas of colors.
Climbing the winding path up to Gibralfaro Castle, the scent of pine trees mixes with the salty breeze drifting from the Mediterranean. With each step, the city of Málaga stretches wider beneath you — its whitewashed houses, its busy port, and the deep blue sea reaching into the horizon. The fortress walls, sturdy yet graceful, trace the ridges of the hill like guardians of memory. Walking along the ramparts, you feel the weight of centuries under your feet — Moorish soldiers once keeping watch, Christian kings later claiming the same heights, all leaving their echoes in the stones. Inside, open courtyards bathe in sunlight, and the rough stone walls are softened by wildflowers growing between the cracks. The silence is broken only by the call of seabirds circling overhead and the laughter of visitors leaning against the battlements, capturing views that painters and poets once tried to preserve. From the highest tower, the panorama is breathtaking: the bullring below, the cathedral rising proudly in the heart of the city, and beyond it all, the endless shimmer of the sea. It is a view that ties past and present together — a reminder of Málaga’s resilience, its mixture of cultures, and the timeless embrace of land and water. Leaving Gibralfaro, you don’t just carry photographs. You carry a memory: of wind in your hair, sun on the ancient stones, and the feeling of having stood at a crossroads where history still breathes.

The view from the top is fantastic, but honestly, it doesn’t quite justify the effort of climbing all the way up. **Here’s a tip:** take a **taxi or a city bus** to the top instead of hiking. Then, instead of following the crowded tourist path back down, take a slightly longer but much quieter route that leads you **directly to the sea**. You’ll end up at a **small beachfront restaurant**, where you can enjoy a coffee with a perfect ocean view—**a much better way to end the experience.**

Really nice Viewpoint. Keep in mind that it’s not perfectly for a sunset view but the view in the night is worth it. Bring a blanked if you wanna sit in the grass and some drinks. We took a cab and walked down.

Challenging walk to reach the Gibralfaro viewpoint, but absolutely worth it. From the top you get a stunning panoramic view of the entire city and the port. A must-see spot when visiting Málaga.

Definitely one of those things needed to do once in Malaga! I was with my elderly parents so hiking up was not really an option, so we easily took bus 35 from the centre (Paseo del Parque, frequency about 40-50 minutes). The bus stop is literally just by the viewpoint, and the last one is just a tiny bit above by the Gibralfaro entrance.

Excellent spot for very nice views of Málaga and the port. We came for the sun rise (in December) and got more than we expected. Definitely recommended.

Mirador de Gibralfaro is hands down the best viewpoint in Málaga! The panoramic views over the city, harbor, and Mediterranean Sea are simply breathtaking, especially at sunset. Watching the city lights start to twinkle as the sun dips below the horizon is an unforgettable experience. Getting to the top requires a bit of a climb, but it’s worth every step. My top tip: plan your visit around sunset to enjoy the most stunning golden hour views. It’s a perfect spot for capturing the beauty of Málaga, and it adds a magical touch to any visit to this vibrant city.

Nestled within a stunning 1791 building that echoes the grandeur of Italian palaces, the Malaga Museum stands as a cultural gem in the heart of Andalusia. As the largest museum in Malaga, it offers an impressive collection of artworks spanning various eras, showcasing masterpieces from renowned global artists alongside local talents. Visitors can immerse themselves in an interactive experience that goes beyond mere observation, making each visit memorable and engaging.
Really enjoyed the timeline of Spanish art's rise and development. The archaeological piece, the telling of the area's change in hands and the impact on the people here was also very interesting. What is super fun is that I visited the botanical gardens and saw the influential family's initial "museum" of local archaeological finds and they are all on display here, in person. Very interesting.

I spent 3 hours exploring this museum. It was my last day in Málaga and the air conditioning so welcome on such a hot day. The building itself is a beautiful building with a lot of history. The entry fee is very low but free if you’re a citizen of the EU. Bring ID to prove this. They have lockers to store bags etc. Despite the age of the building, it is extremely accessible with elevators on both sides and bathrooms on each floor. Part of the display shows the story of the building itself and how the museum came to be housed in there. I was traveling solo and this meant I could explore at my own pace. I started off on the bottom floor and worked my way up. I took a break in the second floor and sat on the stunning outdoor balcony overlooking the interior patio for a while. I used the beautiful staircase instead of the elevators. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I stopped at every display reading the information, hence the 3 hour visit! Highly recommend this museum as a place for all ages to visit.

The museum has an archaeology section and an art section, both which take you through Malaga’s history and art scene across the centuries. The courtyard is stunning and is so beautiful you can definitely spend some time there relaxing and taking it all in. The entrance fee for UK citizens was €1.50 which was very affordable. Larger items such as backpacks do need to be stored in the storage lockers which need €1 (returnable) which uses a key system.

I wandered into the Museo de Málaga when I saw on Google Maps that it was one of the least busy places in recent days — probably thanks to the rain. Drawn by the grandeur of the Palacio de la Aduana and its calm presence near the port, I decided to explore. The entry was free — a quiet gift for being part of the European Union — and that somehow made the experience feel even more generous. Inside, the marble staircases and high courtyards felt like a cathedral of time. I took photos of both the exterior and the exhibitions — fragments of history frozen in light. Ancient sculptures, faded mosaics, and romantic 19th-century paintings coexisted under one elegant roof, telling stories of empires, rituals, and emotions that once pulsed through Málaga. I loved how the building itself became part of the exhibition — layers of sea air, trade, and government now turned into art and memory. It felt like walking through transformation, the very essence of rebirth: from customs palace to museum, from commerce to culture. Before entering, you hang your umbrella in a special holder with a lock and key, and then leave your bag in a locker — you’ll need a one-euro coin, so bring one with you. Free to enter for EU citizenship, other may be a small fee, yet rich in meaning — a space worth visiting not just for what you see, but for how it quietly rearranges something inside you. ✨ Phoenix Perpetuale — review from Málaga 📚 Goodreads: Phoenix Perpetuale

Interesting and modern museum located in a beautiful palace. Almost all of the signs are also in English. There are two parts - art and archeology, so you get a bit of everything. Entrance is free for EU citizens.

The museum’s collection is truly unique and deeply Spanish. I felt like I gained a glimpse into their culture. The building itself is stunning.

Is there a better way to time-travel than stepping into Málaga’s vibrant past? This museum is a gem art, history, and culture collide in the most captivating way. The Roman mosaics are stunning, but the real surprise? Málaga’s been a cultural hotspot for over 2,800 years, and you can feel every century in these halls. A must-visit if you’re in town!
Gennie M — Google review
For me this museum wasn’t that interesting - there are mostly painting from Spanish artists and if you don’t know that much about local art, you probably won’t enjoy it that much. The archeological part of the museum was more interesting for me. Also, it’s situated in a really beautiful building that is worth seeing!

Museo Casa Natal de Picasso, also known as the Picasso birthplace museum, is a significant site in Malaga. It houses a collection of Picasso's sketches and ceramics, offering insights into the artist's life within his family home. Since its establishment in 1998, this museum has not only showcased artifacts and art from Picasso's childhood but has also become the headquarters of the Picasso Foundation and an important research center.
Very good museum, I’ve enjoyed my visit there. Price it’s low and you get free audio guide. You get to known Picasso’s early stage of life and overall philosophy of his mind and paintings. The stuff was friendly and nice. Totally recommended if you enjoy art.

A museum summarizing Picasso's life, ideas and works. ✅ Entry fee is €3 for adults, free for under 18 years old. ✅ There is a paid parking lot right next to it, it is possible to visit by car. ⚠️ It was smaller than I expected, it takes a maximum of 30 minutes.
Serkan K — Google review
Stepping into Casa Natal Picasso feels like entering the pulse of Málaga itself — intimate, sun-soaked, and brimming with restless genius. This is not just a museum; it’s a cradle of imagination, a quiet house where the first sparks of one of humanity’s wildest artistic flames were born. The rooms are small, filled with light and echoes — family photos, early sketches, and domestic objects that whisper of a gifted child who once watched the world through Mediterranean windows. You sense how early life’s warmth and chaos fermented into the revolutionary force that would later fracture and rebuild modern art. Unlike the grand Picasso Museum nearby, Casa Natal feels personal, almost tender. You can imagine the mother humming, the father painting, the boy absorbing colors before he could write words. Each piece here breathes intimacy: his lithographs, ceramics, and personal notebooks don’t shout genius — they hint it, like embers before ignition. The experience ends not with spectacle but with silence — a beautiful kind of reverence. You step back into the Andalusian sunlight and realize how the house and the city are inseparable from Picasso’s spirit: playful, radical, and forever alive. 🔥 Phoenix thought: Genius does not explode into being; it germinates quietly in ordinary rooms. We didn’t have time to go to the larger museum so we visited here instead. It was nice having the audio included in the price of the entry (Only 3 euros) - its a pretty good deal. Tons of great info on the audio. I only wish there were at least 1 or 2 of his paintings for the style Picasso is known for. Its mostly sketches and smaller paintings of earlier work. If you are interested in the history of Picasso, its a great visit. If you are looking to see more paintings, I imagine the large museum is a better stop.
Jennifer Z — Google review
A very different kind of Picasso museum, where many of his earlier and less well-known works are on display. Spanning two floors, while some of the pieces may not be as well-known, this is what makes this museum, unique. On the ground floor when I visited, there was also an exhibition by another artist who had cubism and Picasso-inspired style, which was very fun to see. Overall, highly recommended for a short, air conditioned, insightful tour of Picasso‘s life through his works. I went at the end of October and had not bought tickets in advance and showed up toward the end of the day and only waited in line for 5 to 10 minutes. However, I can see this museum being very busy, as such would recommend advanced tickets. I spent ~90 minutes in the museum.

Friendly Staff Unlock the Secrets of Young Pablo’s Formative Malaga Home This museum is an excellent gateway into understanding the origins of the legendary artist. Situated right in the core of Malaga, just off the Plaza de la Merced, the Casa Natal offers a deep look into Picasso's earliest, most formative years. Visitors don't just see a museum; they walk through the actual house where he was born. The exhibits provide rich context on his parents, Maria Picasso López and José Ruiz Blasco, meticulously explaining their personal histories and the biographical necessity that led the family to eventually relocate to A Coruña and then Barcelona. The entire visit is enhanced by the professional, friendly, and truly multi-lingual team who make every guest feel welcome and informed. Highly recommended for art lovers and historians alike.

Paid only €5.20 for 2 persons thru agoda. Amazing visit. Friendly staff. Given earpiece to listen to narration of his home.

Fantastic museum with work of Picasso as well as other artists following the same style. We saw a short queue in front of the museum but didn’t have to wait too long. Bags need to be checked as they are not allowed in the museum

Tapas bar
Spanish restaurant
Tavern
Bar La Tranca is a traditional tavern in Malaga, popular among locals and visitors alike. The bar's old-fashioned decor and lively atmosphere make it a must-visit spot to experience the vibrant street life of La Merced. The owner, Ezequiel, serves vermouth, sweet wines, and homemade tapas to patrons in a chaotic yet charming setting. The walls are adorned with classic Spanish album covers while the bar itself exudes an airy and light ambiance.
I got the tip from a local. Very friendly staff. The bartender, in particular, is incredibly kind and attentive. The atmosphere is truly Spanish. A authentic interior, cozy, crowdy and noisy. Just the way you want it. The oxtail was divine and buttery soft.
Sharon — Google review
This was a very popular and lively bar when we visited. The atmosphere was great, the music was loud and the singing was really bad, we loved it. There's the usual selection of tapas but we were there just for drinks. We had some really nice sweet sherry and nice cold beer, just what we needed in the heat of the day. The bill was added-up in chalk on the bar, something we've seen in other bars. A very authentic Spanish tapas bar with lots of character, well worth a visit.

Great vibes. Very crowded with no table service. You’d have to order and pay at the bar. This seems to be a place with mostly locals. Everyone was having fun - eating , drinking and dancing. Food was delicious, especially shrimp skewer Bread was a bit stale but I wasn’t too bothered by it Waitress was very friendly and patient with taking my order in English. If you’re ok with noise, self-service and crowd.. I’d say go for it.. you will walk out with a fully and happy belly. Price was reasonable in my opinion So glad I went to this bar.

A Local Gem in Malaga – Bar La Tranca I almost don't want to write this review, just to keep this place a bit of a secret for the locals. But credit where credit’s due. Bar La Tranca was hands-down our favorite spot to eat and drink in Málaga. We ended up coming here five times during our six-day stay, and honestly, nothing else quite measured up. The Highs: Staff: The women running the bar are absolute pros. Even when the place was packed (which it often was), they somehow managed to stay on top of everything — drinks, food, service — all with a smile and an energy that was genuinely fun to watch. There’s clearly a strong sense of teamwork behind the bar, and it shows. Food: Every dish we tried was a hit. Personal favorites: the rabo de toro, pincho de langostino, pincho de chorizo, and gildas. One miss — and totally our fault — was the toasta de melva. Neither of us are fans of tuna, and we didn’t realize that’s what it was. Chalk it up to our rusty Spanish. Drinks: The Victoria beer on tap was ice cold and just right after a day of walking the city. My partner loved the vermut, and there was a sangria-like drink she ordered a few times that we still can’t remember the name of, but it was delicious. Great local wine options too. Whether you’re into beer, wine, or cocktails, there’s something here for you. Ambiance: This is exactly how I imagined a true Andalusian tapas bar to feel. Music loud enough to set the mood, but not so loud you can’t talk. Even when it’s crowded (and it will be), it never feels chaotic. It’s warm, intimate, and just has that special vibe that makes you want to stay for hours. La Tranca is a happy place. The Lows: Honestly? None come to mind.

Very busy local place with menu all in Spanish - a bit daunting to walk in but the staff was welcoming and the food so tasty!! Especially loved the pork (magro al Pedro Ximénez), jamón croquetas, and super refreshing vino dulce de Barril. Thank you for the great vibes!

Authentic taverna experience in Spain, great energy, everybody happy, owner singing, warm service, good food, for sure you will leave happy and full of energy! It’s a bit more towards a bar, than a restaurant, but food is good enough, and can have some dishes in smaller tapas servings. Order at the bar. Definitely would repeat, had some tapas, some biger plates as well for 2 and couple of drinks each, check was 48, very decent We went for lunch, around 13, and it was already almsot full on a Monday in October - but managed to find a table.

Best experience in MÁLAGA! If you are looking for the real Spanish tapas bar go for it! The bartender MARTA made the experience even better. Welcoming and attentive, she recomend us what to eat and to drink, and we couldn't ask for more. Not easy to find a seat but the turnover of customers is high so you just have to be a bit patient but it's totally worth it!

It’s a lovely bar, with classic music and local people will sing together. Amazing atmosphere! So chill. The staff are very nice and friendly, welcoming. And they will recommend the wine and food suit for you. Price is amazing, too. A glass of white wine and a tapa of pork meat ball only costs 6.40€! Highly recommended.

Tacos de Paris is a Michelin-starred restaurant located near Playa de la Malagueta. Owned by the renowned Malagueno chef Jose Garcia, this establishment offers a modern twist on classic Mediterranean and Spanish dishes. The interior exudes modern style, and their tasting menu is both beautifully presented and reasonably priced, making it an attractive dining option for visitors.
Excellent food taste with excellent service. Totally maintained with hygiene and fresh food material. Amazing surroundings atmosphere. Best price in town.

First time tasting taco from paris. They wrap their taco like a kebab, put french fries and fillings of your choice, then grill it. Tastes not bad. Free fast wifi! Good for travellers like me.

Came here while on holiday with my family looking for a relaxing halal place to eat. The food was lovely, incredibly filling and came out to us in a timely manner. The service was even better as the staff were really attentive and friendly. I would definitely recommend! Shoutout to Faizaan for the brilliant service!

I have tried here multiple flavours of tacos. The best one with chicken and beef I loved. One of the best and only true taste of tacos. Must recommended.
Adeel S — Google review
Ordered some "special" tacos, but they don't know the difference between tacos and burritos. Really good burritos and fast and friendly. Almost no indoor seats, but outdoors is fine. Lots of selections. Got my drink order wrong, but fixed that. Prices seem fair. Clean and well lit. Recommended.

I have been in the city for just a week and I already eat at Tacos de Paris almost every day. The food is always fresh and full of flavor. The tacos are delicious, well prepared, and never disappoint. The quality is consistent and the portions are generous. The staff are welcoming and the atmosphere makes you feel comfortable. It has quickly become my favorite spot in town and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting or living here.

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant in Málaga. The staff were exceptionally pleasant and attentive, making the visit even more enjoyable. The tapas were absolutely delicious, offering a perfect blend of traditional flavours and fresh ingredients. Additionally, the restaurant’s central location makes it a convenient spot for both locals and tourists. Highly recommended!

We came from Poland and had an unforgettable breakfast experience here! The food was both delicious and beautifully presented. But most importantly, the friendliness and warmth of the staff made us feel truly special. Thank you for a perfect start to the day! We will definitely be back!

Tapas was excellent - all the best tapas dishes in large portions at a very fair prices. Waiters were very attentive and all the food/drinks came out very quickly. Sangria was particularly yummy! Very much recommend if you want to try a wide range of Spanish tapas dishes at a great price. There was also a wide range of other food like bao buns or salads etc so can pick a range!
Sienna A — Google review
This tapas restaurant is not a great dining choice. Everything was greasy, and the fried dishes were unappetizing and lacking flavor. The paella was not fresh, while the chicken had a taste that suggested it had been cooked long ago; it was both bland and served cold.

Fine nice bistro for a simple and relatively cheap breakfast. Everyone was super friendly and there was a lot of space.

the first time we came was after we arrived late in Malaga and wandered almost the whole old town for an open kitchen. service was amazing, food is great, very responsive guys 🫶🏼 we came a second time during the day, quiet and chill vibe, food same as first time, beer is very good!!! to try: mushroom croquettes, bao (both), tacos, patatas bravas, matrimonio, wok (we tried chicken&shrimp), eggplant tower & 1907 beer

Casa Mira

Ice cream shop
Casa Mira is a renowned ice cream parlor in Malaga, with a history dating back to 1890. It has been serving turron and ice cream for five generations. The original store is located on Calle Nueva, while there's also a newer branch on Calle Larios. Visitors recommend arriving early due to the time it takes to prepare the delicious flavors such as wild berries, lemon, and pistachio.
This ice cream shop was fantastic! The staff were friendly, helpful, and spoke English, which was a great help. I visited multiple times since they were open most of the time. This place is quite popular, and while they have another branch in the city center, this location is much quieter and offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The ice creams were delicious, full of flavor, and tasted wonderfully authentic.
Boris ( — Google review
I visited Casa Mira and tried the waffle ice cream with two scoops: dark chocolate and coffee. The ice cream tasted very fresh, and the dark chocolate was absolutely outstanding—rich, smooth, and incredibly flavorful. I’d highly recommend it to any chocolate lover! The coffee flavor was more on the average side—not bad, but nothing particularly special. The servers were very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. I’ll definitely be back to try more flavors. A great spot for a sweet treat in the city!
Ahmed A — Google review
I stopped by Casa Mira in Málaga and their ice cream was absolutely amazing! So creamy, rich in flavor, and you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. I tried a couple of different flavors and every single one was delicious. The staff were kind and patient while I was choosing, and the whole place has a lovely, traditional vibe. If you’re in Málaga and love good ice cream, Casa Mira is definitely a must-visit!
Betül A — Google review
Hands-down the best gelato in malaga. We spent 3 days in malaga and we went there every single day. It is creamy, flavorful and just balanced. We tried the pistachio, kinder, coffee and lotus. The kinder & lotus were tad bit sugary to our taste but it is as if you’re eating a lotus biscuit out of the bag, the flavor is just on point. The staff are amazing and super helpful. Even if there is a line, it won’t take long to be served.

Hola, I love it especially the Málaga Flavor but my favourite was the Pistachio I always want this everytime I ordered Gelato always. Not Expensive than you think Medium size two scoop only €4 great.

There was a huge crowd at this place and make sure to collect a token at the left side of the entrance. We ended up waiting in the crowd and then got to know about the token. Tried turron and malaga icecream and it was good 😋
Dhruthi N — Google review
Definitely the craziest ice cream shop I have ever visited. On the Main Street of Malaga we stumbled across this really busy ice cream parlour. You have to take a ticket when you enter and your number gets called and you get served, this was not super easy to understand, but added to the atmosphere. I had the kinder and the Oreo, both were unreal, possibly the best ice cream I have ever tried. Highly recommend 10/10, the experience is really cool aswell

Had a craving for good icecream and went here based on the Google reviews and it did not disappoint. Tried the Belgian chocolate, Pistacho and Orange+Chocolate. The choclate was fantastic and so was the Pistacho. The cone was also so delicious.

Chiringuito El Cachalote is a laid-back beachfront restaurant located on the central Playa de la Malagueta. This cozy spot offers a large, covered beach terrace where you can enjoy seafood dishes and typical Spanish tapas while taking in the beautiful seaside views. The restaurant is known for its grilled boquerones, a Malaga specialty, and chilled beverages that make for the perfect refreshment on a hot summer day.
Best dinner we had in Málaga by far. Definitely worth visit this place. Reasonable prices great atmosphere and great staff. We got lucky to get last available table for that evening so better book in advance.

Laid back and nice sea view restaurant. If you come here, then get the fresh grilled fish only. I came here with few friends, the place can get very busy during peak hours. Service was friendly and helpful. Very kind. About the food. We get some fresh sardines, prawns from the grill - these ones were fresh caught in the morning and freshly grilled on the fire. My friend got a seabass or so and the waiter came to the table to show the fresh fish. That was very appropriate. We also got fish paella, but I must say the fish on the paella was not fresh. Also paella usually is a bit crunchy but this time was creamy.
Silvia D — Google review
I came here on a Thursday around 3 p.m., and the place was absolutely packed. I managed to get a seat, but not by the window or anywhere with a real view, I guess you’d need to reserve ahead if you’re hoping for that. I ordered the calamari, and kind of disappointing. It came with no dip, no salt, just a plain pile on a plate. I had to ask for salt, and then twenty minutes later some kind of sauce was brought over unannounced, the whole thing just felt a bit chaotic and disorganized. Once I finally had the salt and dip, it was edible, but nothing special. Not very crispy, no real flavor to the batter, but the squid itself was tender and the portion was generous. Overall, it was fine. Not great. Definitely not the best food I’ve had. You’re mostly paying for the beachfront location.

Wow with gluten free options!! They are very kind and truly attentive to details. We were there for dinner and one of us (me btw) is Coeliac… we didn’t have to repeat our self every time we ordered, they remembered and suggested side dishes accordingly. Wonderful! The food and dessert were amazing, the atmosphere as well and… they speak English, we spoke in Spanish but we heard speaking in English in the table next to ours, big plus. We’ll be back as soon as possible :D to enjoy other dishes!! Last but not least… we ate a lot and all fish, with wine, big bottle of water and desserts; the value for money was awesome.

We rent couple bed for sunbathing just for €18 for 2 all day. Really chill out here and drinks pints from just the back of the restaurant. A bit expensive pint but holiday charged as expected.

Some prices are higher than the average, but it's okay for the location. Quality is great and we were super happy with both food and drinks. We ordered tinto de verano, sardines and grilled dorada. Everything was delicious and the service was top notch. I would recommend this place.
Bourgeoise C — Google review
The paella tasted like one of those ready spices from the supermarket and the rice was raw, we didn’t eat not even half. Service use is ok, nothing special about the sardines, food came fast and beer was good.

Great place to eat and to enjoy the nice atmosphere of Málaga! The food is great, I highly recommend fries anchovies and the golden fish, they are simply a dream coming true.
