National park
Nature & Parks
Kruger National Park, South Africa's first national park, is a must-visit destination for international tourists. With over half a million visitors annually, the park offers an exceptional wildlife experience and is home to an impressive variety of species. Spanning nearly 2 million hectares, it boasts diverse life forms and is renowned for its advanced environmental management techniques.
Kruger National Park is absolutely magical. Everything about it – the landscapes, the wildlife, the feeling of being out in nature – just hits different. Seeing animals up close and exploring the park was unforgettable. Honestly, a 5-star experience doesn’t even feel like enough for how incredible it was.
Georgia C — Google review
Hands down, the most incredible national park in South Africa. In our 23 trips over the last 15 years, we've explored only 60% of the roads and camps in the park. It NEVER disappoints. Any season, any weather... it's heaven on Earth.
Chantelle B — Google review
What an experience. Kruger National Park was beautiful. The people working there were very nice, and everything looked very well taken care of. You really feel like you’re nature’s guest, not the other way around. Seeing elephants, rhinos, giraffes, etc., was an experience I’ll never forget.
Irene A — Google review
The place was incredible! Amazing to see these beautiful animals so close in their natural environment. Even with just a day trip, we managed to see plenty including lions, elephants, giraffes, hippos, impala, Cape buffalo and more.
Shoaib Z — Google review
The pictures really speak for themselves – this is an unforgettable experience. To make the most of it, I’d recommend planning at least three days. That way you have enough time to enjoy both perspectives: one self-drive safari, where you set your own pace and explore freely, and at least one guided safari, where an experienced ranger can point out wildlife you might otherwise miss.
Thomas S — Google review
THE place to visit in South Africa! The accomodations at Skukusa and the other camps are excellent, the views and the wildlife stellar. One exciting adventure for me as a Wildlife photographer was getting up early to find a troop of Baboons tipping over all the trash (Rubbish) bins to see if there was anything edible. This is one place in South Africa where you can see Rhinocerous, Elephants, Hippo's, Crocodiles, Giraffe, Lions, Waterbuck, Zebras, BlackBuck, Baboon's, Vervet Monkey's, Marabou Stork's, and many other birds.
Jeff B — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking. Kruger is nature at its most raw and beautiful. We saw elephants crossing the road, lions walking on the road, and even a leopard in the distance all in one day. The park is massive, so plan ahead. The rest camps were clean, staff helpful, and the roads well-maintained (even the gravel ones). A must-visit for anyone who loves wildlife.
Kim K — Google review
A stunning experience. Will go back as many times as my budget allows it. The tented camps are such a wonderful experience. The bathroom facilities are clean all the time.

Casino
Casinos & Gambling
Emnotweni Casino, located in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga is a vibrant and lively establishment that offers a range of traditional gambling games. With its bustling atmosphere, patrons can enjoy classic casino experiences alongside other entertainment options such as live music performances, comedy shows, and even movie screenings at the on-site theater. The venue also features a bar and food offerings for visitors to indulge in during their visit.
I attended the Greater Riverside BIODIVERSITY initiative, Dr Jane Goodal lecture and black tie function at the Riverside casino Oval hall. The talk was outstanding and highly motivational, the meal was delicious and the staff extremely welcoming and professional. The venue was well decorated with lovely flower arrangements and the Mpumalnga university choir gave excellent performances. To all the organizers and MC Greg, thank you for hosting such a historically important event with such excellence. Since I did not go into the casino part of the building, I have no comment except to say it looked like a casino and from what I have read about gambling, the house always wins. Winners know not to start.
Emma D — Google review
Time for a revamp... the rest of Nelspruit (Mbombela) has outgrown this establishment & it's got a dead vibe. The entrances all feel like a back door. The staff is unwelcoming and unprofessional in terms of guest relations. The decor and carpets, including the Salon Prevé, as well as the restaurant all needs some attention. Time for a upgrade, a new Casino or venue

Emnotweni Casino hosted the eXp Realty Roadshow in The Arena. Everything was set out perfectly. Sound was not perfect. The one mic kept cutting out.

Went to Bel Ombre for dinner... One word.. SPECTACULAR 😍 The staff is super friendly and the kitchen is very efficient. The food... DELICIOUS... The cocktails are out of this world... The place is quite affordable too.

A very interesting place to be if you need to keep yourself busy. There so mich to do there. I was crowned as Mr Mpumalanga 2023 Public Choice there. You can also book the venue for different events.

Going there hungry at night night is not such a good idea. We got there around 21:30 and the restaurants were already closed. We had to order food inside the casino, which took forever to arrive, but when it did arrive , it was really tasty.

Beautiful restaurant, zero management presence. The food was terrible, the service even worse. Restaurant staff was angry the entire time. Noone cares about the guests experience. They seem to forget that they are a 4 star sun hotel. We stayed there for 5 days and we regret going to that restaurant. We ended up going to the mall for meals. The mall restaurants staff gave us much better food and service compared to the 4star service we expected from Jasmine. I regret spending so much money for no value at all.

It's a wonderful mall with ample parking as well . the entrances and exits take time getting used to. I would recommend Mugg & Bean as your go to.
Nathosa O — Google review
I called i'langa mall offices today and asked them until what time dischem was open today, on Heritage day. The lady responded that all the shops were open until 17.00hrs. I arrived at dischem around 15.05 only to find that the shutters were down. Asked the guard if they were closed and he said " Yes come back tomorrow'. I then said that the mall mentioned that all shops were closing at 5.00 pm. There was a lady from dischem standing next to the guard and she retorted that I must take this up with the mall management as they close at 15.00 hrs. I then called the office at the mall again and she reiterated that Dischem was supposed to close only at 5.00pm and that she would take this up with the store manager. Don't know what transpired after that. Seems like the mall is run like the wild west and there are no uniform rules regarding timing. Each store will open and close when they feel like and shoppers drive all the way based on the wrong information by mall management.

Busy place ,I've never experienced crime there however it's good to be alert in such a place I like the fact that it's easily accessible from all directions in Nelspruit from the plaza ,police station ,mkholo building, sanlam building and etc it's accessible as it's at the center of them all safety is not much of a concern but as I said it's good to be alert especially when withdrawing money at the atm other than that it's a lovely place.

100 % Occupied retail and auxiliary financial and medical institutions. 4 or 3 star Hotel with ample facilities. Right in the middle of the Nelspruit City CBD. Close to local and regional transport facilities. Kruger National Park is stone thrown away and its a gateway city to the Kruger National Park and two countries i.e eSwatini and Mozambique. Gauteng Johannesburg is 3-4 hours away by road and less than 1 jour by air. Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport is 20 Km away from the CBD. Mild humid winters to warm to hot wet summers. People are friendly and races and cultures are quite integrated. Over all great place to be especially if you love nature game wildlife.

Gardens
Nestled just behind the Nelspruit Value Mart Complex and along the route to White River, the Lowveld National Botanical Garden is a true gem of South Africa. Spanning an impressive 159 hectares, this botanical paradise boasts a rich tapestry of over 2,600 plant species, including 600 indigenous varieties and more than 2,000 non-native plants. Visitors can explore diverse ecosystems ranging from lush African rainforests to remarkable collections of cycads and fig trees.
Beautiful nature scenery. The day was extremely hot and we did not walk through the whole garden, but the waterfalls are not to miss. I absolutely was in awe of the beauty.
Yolande C — Google review
As we stopped in the parking area we could hear the waterfall after all the rain they had. Walking down the walkway through the trees we could feel the fine mist from the falls falling on us and as we turned to the view point we were blown away by what we saw. The water was gushing down. It was super cool! This place is beautiful and affordable.
DustBugs T — Google review
Two words: amazing and peaceful (we loved the place) we were doing a video shoot for a wedding invitation. What an spectacular environment
Zenaviv M — Google review
The Lowveld National Botanical Garden offers an exceptional visitor experience, showcasing both natural beauty and ecological diversity. The rainforest section is particularly impressive, providing an immersive environment that highlights the region’s unique flora. The Cascade Waterfall is another outstanding feature, presenting a striking visual focal point and enhancing the overall ambience of the garden. While the site is well-maintained, there is an observable concern regarding waste accumulation in certain areas of the Crocodile River, where plastic bottles and paper occasionally collect. This underscores the importance of visitor responsibility in preserving the ecological integrity of the space. In conclusion, the garden remains a premier destination for relaxation, education, and environmental appreciation, deserving of the highest rating.

A very lively and fun family restaurant. Perfect for a hot Friday evening. Well put together kids play area. Pizzas are generally good, but stay away from the seafood pizza (they tend to ruin it by adding a 'mayo/peri' sauce)!

Never been this venue before despite many times visiting Nelspruit. Truly a jewel in the heart of Nelspruit. Friendly , welcoming and accommodating staff, very relaxed and easy going vibe, various seating areas and good food. Despite our food taking a bit longer than would normally be the case , over 25 mins for the lamb curry, chicken schnitzel and a cheeseburger with cold drinks only, the food was excellent when it arrived. Would highly recommend as it also has under cover parking with security. Pub style menu. Different seating areas all make for a great environment.

I don't know what happened since August 2024 but we went out of our way specifically to come here while passing through Nelspruit, even booking an Airbnb so we could enjoy this restaurant. We felt it had great menu options and was value for money. We returned for their cocktails, which were absolutely dreadful this time, but were the main attraction last time. Our pizzas were completely undercooked. Our waiter was really polite but it took a while for us to get any attention to be seated when we arrived despite the restaurant having 5 tables at most.

Hamburger restaurant
Nestled in the vibrant atmosphere of The Grove, McDonald's The Grove is a beloved fast-food destination that has stood the test of time. This iconic chain is famous for its delicious burgers and crispy fries, making it a go-to spot for many. Recently renovated, this location beautifully blends modern aesthetics with a nostalgic 90s American diner vibe that patrons adore. With its cleanliness and user-friendly layout, it's an inviting place to grab a meal any time of day.
The first burger I ever had was from this McDonald’s when I was around 12 years old, and I’ve loved it ever since. This particular location has always been my favourite. They’ve recently renovated it, and it looks modern and fresh while still giving off that classic 90s American diner style, which I absolutely love. Over the past week, I’ve been having breakfast here almost every day. I’ve really been enjoying the boerie roll burger, they took my favourite South African dish and flattened it into a patty; it's simple, tasty, and satisfying. The staff is very friendly, and the morning atmosphere is calm and relaxed, making it a great spot to start the day. Definitely one of the better McDonald’s locations around!

I ordered 2 x sausage mcmuffins with egg, 2 extra hashbrowns and hot chocolate (confirmed 3 times). Got to the front where they proceeded to give me one egg mcmuffin, half wrapped and falling apart, when I gave it back they made the whole line of cars in the drive-through reverse so the previous customer can reverse back in, then proceeded to give her the order we erroneously got (in it's falling apart state). We got our order and left, only to find that we never received the hot chocolate that we paid extra for, but the coffee we expressly said we did not want, and this was after the attendant checked and TOOK my slip.
Lee S — Google review
It was very crowded and the workers couldn't cope with the work. My order was ready in 10 minutes, but the person who was supposed to deliver it didn't. I complained several times but still no one knew what was going on. It was only after 30 minutes that one of the cooks attended to me and discovered that my order was on the counter in front of the person who was supposed to deliver it to me.
Augusto G — Google review
Do not understand the reason for parking and wait for your meal if you do drive through. That defy the whole reason for using the drive-through.
Sara J — Google review
Very clean and user friendly. Free toilet. Friendly staff. Not very far from UMP.And that makes it easy for students to eat.
Magowa N — Google review
Why even have a McCafe at this McDonald's location if the staff constantly claim items are unavailable? This has happened not just once or twice, but multiple times. It’s frustrating because the app shows those items as available, even when it lists others as unavailable. Clearly, the items should be in stock, yet the staff consistently say otherwise. This repeated issue makes the McCafe offering meaningless here.
Jean P — Google review
We ordered food and specicaly asked for both burgers not to have lettuce or garnish and both of them cam overflowing with lettuce and stuffed with sauce so we couldn't even take most of the lettuce off.

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Sudwala Caves. Not quite as popular as Lowveld National Botanical Garden, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Caverns & Caves
Nestled in the heart of Mpumalanga, the Sudwala Caves stand as a testament to nature's artistry and history. Renowned as one of the oldest cave systems globally, these fascinating caverns invite visitors on an unforgettable journey through time. With their origins dating back approximately 240 million years, they are carved into ancient Precambrian dolomite rock.
This is a list of experiences to be cherished. The access road was in excellent condition. The restaurant offered great value, and the food and staff were truly exceptional. The caves were a magnificent sight, and our tour guide demonstrated expertise and genuine enthusiasm. We also enjoyed the zip lines, which were an unforgettable experience. Once again, the staff were outstanding, and the zip-lining provided breathtaking views.

The Sudwala Caves are absolutely beautiful! Inside was cool and magical, and I loved learning about the history and formations. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, which made the experience even better. Definitely a place worth visiting if you enjoy nature and exploring.

Very worth the trip! The cave tour was very interesting and our guide was great. It lasted about 45 minutes. We also did the zip lining which was awesome! The staff were professional, friendly and fun. The facilities were very well kept. For these reasons we found the price of admission very reasonable. I would recommend visiting!

This was a great shared experience with our kids. Our guide, John, was an absolute star, answering any questions the young ones had, adding quirky comments with a clear passion for the tourism industry and his internship! Bonus points for also being a tour photographer :D They have tours every 15 - 20 minutes, so the wait is not long at all.
Nedine F — Google review
The experiance was amazing we paid R140 per person and our tour guide John was fantastic we learned alot about the cave men and also about how the caves developed its really a must to see great south african history

Top guides, very informative about the caves. Little bit cold 🥶 inside the caves. Great life experience.
Simphiwe C — Google review
My first time in a cave so it was a great experience. The lady that guided us through the cave was great and very knowledgable about the history of the cave.
George T — Google review
Visited the Sudwala caves and was well impressed. Shadrack was our tour guide who was rather entertaining. The tour itself was just under an hour. Watch not to slip in some areas as the ground may be wet. After the tour we decided to test the zip line out and it was a lot of fun. Nicholas and Sibusiso ensured safety at all times. No need to worry aboutbyuor cellphone and car keys. Great experience.

Mbombela Stadium, one of the venues for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, is a multi-purpose stadium that frequently hosts Premier Soccer League matches. With a capacity of 43,500 seats, it offers an electrifying atmosphere for fans to enjoy their favorite teams in action. While some visitors have noted maintenance issues and organizational challenges with event services, others appreciate its convenient location and the opportunity to watch soccer and rugby matches on-site.
Really good experience. Being a regular Ellis park visitor my frame of reference is skewed. What a great facility. Open clean and engaging. Locals are well represented and food offerings vary from the staple boerie roll to a local kota! Park and ride made such a difference and I will definitely recommend it

Best service, perfect place even if it's raining, you get wet when you want to. You might wanna come with extra cash the vendors act like we're millionaires for example that 440ml of sprite it's R30 imagine😭 but nevertheless it's great. Go and ENJOY🫣🫶
Mpilo M — Google review
Great and well designed stadium. Easy access, no bottle necks whether entering/exiting the stadium or using the bathroom. We'll managed. Great place to watch the Mighty Buccaneers do what they do best, win!
Sibusiso M — Google review
We attended the Springbok v Georgia game yesterday. It was very festive with the extra beer garden outside the stadium, lots to do and see. But after an amazing experience last time we visited, we were a bit disappointed at some of the facilities. Many of the tools in the Ladies didn't have any toilet paper. The big screen tvs both need attention as they have sections that are discoloured. The food that was available wasn't very good and was expensive. But all in all, I'm glad we went and well done to the Bokke!

This stadiums design is perfect. Bathrooms at each entrance aswell as food stalls. Just make sure about parking tickets

The restaurant's European sophistication and Mediterranean flavors create an enticing culinary experience. Diners can enjoy starters like Spanish chicken livers with spicy chourico or a refreshing Greek pomegranate and avocado salad.
I had my birthday dinner at the restaurant and it was absolutely amazing. The setup, the food and the staff was incredible. They truly made my night one to remember. My cake was also a beautiful delicious red velvet 🤤 😍 that was also organised by the restaurant. They definitely went all out and I appreciate everything. I plan on booking with them again for more special occasions.

My friends and I enjoyed a celebration lunch at this tranquil location that has great views of Mbombela. They are friendly, responsive and were accommodating to our requests, much to our convenience. The meals were also well presented, tasty and the estimated preparation times were realistic. That palette cleanser sorbet did what it needed to do;)! The slight issue was, for us, tenderly cooked meats and salmon which the professional staff quickly corrected for our enjoyment. I will return for a dinner, because I can only imagine how beautiful the sunset would look from that hill:)!!!

We visited for lunch today as it is Mother’s Day. We were a party of 4 adults and a baby. There was some confusion over our reservation but we were seated quickly with a complimentary drink and a lovely gift bag for the mums. I can only speak for my own meal, but generally the food was good. The arancini starter was perfectly cooked. My short rib beef fell off the bone and melted in the mouth but the accompanying mashed potato was quite lumpy and some of the vegetables were overcooked. My crème brûlée dessert was also perfect. My daughter was served chicken which she described as “dry” and my husband’s pork belly was a little overdone. Having said that; the service was impeccable and the views from the deck are outstanding. I would highly recommend the Orange and would definitely return.

Beautiful restaurant with breathtaking night views of the city. Ordered pork belly with rice and oxtail with rosemary mash it was divine. Subtle and intimate atmosphere perfect for romantic dinners or any celebration. Great service from all the beautiful ladies and chef. I really enjoyed my dinner here. Can't wait to do it again.

The atmosphere and views are phenomenal. The service from 3 or different ladies were equally phenomenal, friendly and very efficient. The menu and food was incredible, as was the pricing. The 6 of us were all thoroughly impressed and felt it was a fine dining experience worth doing every time we come near to Nelspruit. Even the wine list had a great selection.
Andrew R — Google review
Exceptional dining. With lovely views. The place for a romantic dinner. A bottle of red wine, aphrodisiac as a starter, followed by a wondeful main off the classy menu. We did not get to the dessert at all.

Lamb and risotto were both good. Bone marrow starter needed a bit of work. Servers were great and lovely location.

Hotel
Nestled in the heart of Mbombela, Francolin Lodge is a modern 5-star guest house offering stylish open-plan rooms with private balconies. The lodge boasts an outdoor swimming pool with a deck and shaded seating area, providing a perfect spot to relax. Set on its own koppie, it offers unrivaled views over the Lowveld and convenient access to the best attractions in the area.
For the first time in eight months of traveling to Nelspruit for business, I finally discovered a lodge that feels like home—my second home. Francolin Lodge is not just a place to stay; it’s an experience. The location is incredibly central, making it convenient for traveling in and out of Nelspruit and exploring the surrounding areas. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality. The reception staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and always ready to assist, creating an immediate sense of comfort—just like returning home after a long trip. When I received the keys to my room, I expected a standard lodge experience. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The room was beyond my expectations—a beautifully designed open-plan bedroom with a breathtaking view and a private balcony. There was even a dedicated workspace, perfect for catching up on tasks. To my delight, the room extended upstairs to another bedroom, also with a desk and a view. It quickly became my mini-office, ideal for working in peace. The room also included a charming kitchenette, a thoughtfully stocked mini-bar, and midnight snacks—a true touch of luxury. The bathroom was equally impressive, featuring a spacious bathtub with a scenic view. Thoughtful details like bath salts and creamy soap bars added a spa-like touch. The shower was expansive and beautifully designed, making each morning feel like a retreat. Breakfast at Francolin Lodge was nothing short of exceptional. The variety and quality were outstanding, with every dish packed with flavor and presented with care. Francolin Lodge has set a new standard for me. From now on, it will be my go-to choice for every business trip to Nelspruit. An absolute gem in every way!

It's a 5 star place, rooms are open plan, I would have preferred the toilet to have a door. a welcome drink - Sherry in the rooms and later found some sweet dessert. located at a higher location and thus having an almost unobstructed view of Nelspruit. There is an onsite restaurant - Orange restaurant with great views! the food is great.

Mexican restaurant
Salsa Mexican Grill, located in Nelspruit's Ilanga Mall, is a vibrant destination for those craving authentic Mexican cuisine. This restaurant beautifully marries traditional cooking methods with modern twists on classic dishes, ensuring each bite is a delightful experience. The lively atmosphere is enhanced by an upbeat music selection that transports diners straight to Mexico.
Caramba!!! This Mexican restuarant deserves more than a 5 star rating. The great vibe, great music, great food and greatest haaaapppeeeeee hour cocktail is a few reasons to eat there. After a jug of Strawberry Coconut who would not be in a very happy place? Really happy tastebuds. The El Chapo's Quesadillas was absolutely wonderful. 3 mini quesadillas filled with bacon and mozzarella, steak and veg, chicken and peppadews it was difficult deciding which was my favourite. Actually all 3 of them. My happy hour treat was a colourful bomb of rasberry mexican sky. As a special treat we shared the desert of taco pancakes. No words can describe the taste of chocolate mousse heaven with crunchie bits and stawberry cream with fresh strawberries. Please do not lick your phone screen when looking at my review photos. The dished are as delicious as it looks. Incredible!! Next time I am going to try the tequila train and probably end up doing the soul train line dancing around the tables.

The food was good, and the drinks were nice, the service was also good, it's just that it was packed at the restaurant, which made the service a bit slow but I was happy with everything.

Food was absolutely stunning. It was the 1st time dining there. Only advice I'd like to give is, can the waiters/waitresses please introduce themselves when they serve us. Other than that, definitely very fulfilling food and delicious drinks!!

We were there for lunch today. We were greeted at the entrance by a extremely enthusiastic server. Steicy. Followed by brilliant service by this young man. What a pleasure to go and eat and your waiter makes an effort to do everything he can to make sure you experience is a pleasurable one. Great food. Fillet was cooked to perfection 👌. Everything was great. Thank you for a great meal and as for the service, well Steicy I think if you continue to serve with the heart you do you will go far in life

Do your self a favour to always check your bill before paying. My boyfriend and I were charged items we didn't get and the waiter came back with an incorrect bill twice. The service is extremely poor. The waiters make you pick the tables they are assigned to. Then you have to wait to be seated because the tables are not cleared. Cocktails were good. Other customers can be too loud as if it is a groove spot. Again, a lot of work needs to be done to improve the service.
Tlise M — Google review
The waiter Vusimuzi didn't bother coming to our table to check in us, our orders took 30 minutes just drinks mind you, no it was not a busy day, been there on busy days and received better service , a bill with items for over R200 which we didn't order! Him and another waiter insisted we pay that and subtract a certain amount still our bill didn't make sense, after minutes of arguing they then gave us our bill which included drinks we ordered but didn't receive!! I don't know what kind of a scheme they busy with but they very sneaky!! First time receiving such service from Salsa
Shalyn G — Google review
I honestly had one of the worst dining experiences here. The service was basically non-existent — our table was dirty when we sat down, and it took ages just to get any attention. There was literally one waiter running around trying to serve 3+ tables by himself I didnt get his name but big ups to him , but I can understand why he was overwhelmed, but it still left us sitting unattended for way too long. What made it worse was that when we asked the other staff for help, they gave us attitude instead of assisting. It honestly felt like we weren’t taken seriously, maybe because we’re young and they assumed we wouldn’t tip as much as their other customers. That’s a terrible way to treat paying guests. Overall, very disappointing. A restaurant should value all customers equally and provide at least basic service even on busy days

Their prawns had the best sauce I've EVER had. Definitely going back to try out their food again. This was definitely a well rounded experience. The staff, food, drinks and environmental was excellent. We ordered our food over the phone and when we got there it was ready. They have such a big menu which is so great you won't be limited. 1st time visiting the water park and I can honestly say we had an amazing day and will definitely come back again. You can take your own food, drinks and snacks just no glass or alcohol. Entrance is R130 and kids until 1.2 meters R100, kids under 2 are free. The food, cooldrinks, snacks, ice cream etc are reasonably priced but it does add up so I suggest take your own coolerbox of items. There are lots of picnic tables and shady areas. The reason for only 4 stars 🌟 The life guards have no interest in your children's safety or ensuring that the other people behave, there are zero rules pertaining to what you can and cannot do on the slides and I suggest you keep a close eye on your kids at all times because I saw alot of children getting hurt. Although the slides are in good condition the wooden staircases up to the slides need to be assessed and possibly repaired, we literally heard the wood cracking as we were climbing the stairs it was concerning as it is very very high. The lazy river is totally pointless because the tubes are too big and the kids spent the entire time trying to rock the tube down the ride and lastly there were not enough tubes I would say maybe 30 were available. All in all it is a lovely fun affordable place to take the kids.

We went for the afternoon. Had the most delicious burgers at the restaurant followed by the guided walking tour. Victor the tour guide was incredible with giving us details on everything. From the moment we arrived, we were completely blown away by how beautiful this place is. The accommodation exceeded all expectations—spacious, spotless, and thoughtfully designed to blend perfectly with the natural surroundings. Every little detail, from the décor to the peaceful atmosphere, made it feel like a true home away from home. One of the absolute highlights of our stay was the animals. They are well cared for, incredibly cute, and added such a magical touch to the experience. Whether it was waking up to the sound of birds, watching the lions relaxing in the sun, or seeing some of the other animals up close, it was truly unforgettable. It’s clear they are a big part of what makes this place so special. But what really stood out the most was the staff. Every single person we encountered was warm, friendly, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Their hospitality and kindness made a huge impression on us and made our stay even more memorable. We left feeling refreshed, inspired, and already planning our next visit. This place is a hidden gem, and I honestly couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful retreat, a fun family adventure, or just a break from the everyday rush, this place has it all.

Pretty nice but it could have been better. A lot of construction going on for future visitors. The room was good but was a little short on towels and there was a minor water leakage in the rest room. They sent out a smelly, armed person over to fix the issue, but due to not having the right part he could not totally resolve the issue but he definitely tried and did communicate how to work around the issue, a young lady came over to mop the water from the floor. The restaurant was good. The food was good 👍🏿. Overall acceptable. Tour guide was very nice and knowledgeable. Reception ladies at the tour location was great. One negative we were told through email that we could not book a tour without lodging but found out later it was not true. The road to the location was pretty bad, not paved, probably would not be the best for a rainy day. Overall acceptable. Great potential. Thank you.

I attended the 40th IPA National Council Meeting at Pumbaa, and it was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed into a serene and beautifully maintained environment. The rooms were spacious, stylish, and incredibly comfortable — a true home away from home. The food was absolutely delicious, with every meal thoughtfully prepared and bursting with flavor. And the wildlife… what a sight to behold! Whether it was the peaceful morning views or the thrilling encounters with lions and nature, every moment felt magical. - A huge thank you to the Pumbaa team for their warm hospitality and attention to detail. This venue is a gem — perfect for events, getaways, or anyone seeking a memorable experience in nature.

This was my 2nd stay and they keep on getting better and better , the beds are super comfortable. There was something wrong with the hot water , all it took was a simple call and within an hour it was sorted. The breakfast is simple but tasty, this place is worth every cent and more Leandri, thank you for your beautiful service

I enjoyed my stay. The experience was amazing and everyone from the owner to the team were great. The lions roaring at night is an awesome thing to experience. Highly recommend the place

The room we booked wasn’t the room we would’ve got. False advertising. We waited to speak to Management and eventually went to Reception to get assistance. The “Manageress” was not helpful at all. Won’t recommend this place for a quick get away for a night out.

Even though I stayed only one night I recommend this place. Very pleasant specially if you want to relax. Quiet and cozy, the outside area is very inviting. Overall SUPER!

My colleague and I stayed at Vinique Guesthouse during a recent business trip. The guesthouse is located in a more established “and very beautiful” part of Nelspruit. The rooms were tidy, the sheets clean, and the air-conditioning was a welcome bonus. The TV worked perfectly and even had Netflix. What really stood out, however, was the top-class service from Mariette, Wayne, and the rest of the staff — friendly, helpful and professional throughout. I travel to Nelspruit often and have yet to find a guesthouse I’d want to return to - until now. Highly recommended.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Vinique Guesthouse, and it was a truly wonderful experience. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and genuine kindness by the staff, who went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and memorable. The guesthouse itself is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are tastefully decorated, impeccably clean, and offer a cozy yet luxurious atmosphere. The attention to detail in the décor and amenities made me feel right at home. The well-maintained gardens provided a peaceful retreat, perfect for relaxation. The staff's friendliness and helpfulness truly stood out. They were always available to assist with any requests, offer local recommendations, and ensure that I had everything I needed. Their genuine care and hospitality made a significant difference in my stay. Additionally, the common areas were inviting and well-equipped, providing a great space to unwind or connect with other guests. Overall, my stay at Vinique Guesthouse exceeded my expectations in every way. I highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for a comfortable, beautiful, and welcoming place to stay. I can't wait to return!

Good afternoon Vinique Guesthouse I merely called today to enquire on if a steamer was found being left behind yesterday after the groomsmen and bridesmaids prepared for a wedding. Thembi was helpful and pleasant. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about Wayne. Being in the hospitality business, I did not expect your rudeness and you putting the phone in my ear down.

Fast food restaurant
Burger King Riverside Mall (Drive-Thru) is a popular fast-food chain known for its grilled burgers, fries, and shakes. Despite the seemingly closed exterior, the food court location offers the same delicious menu options. A standout feature is their inclusion of soda water as an alternative beverage choice for those who prefer non-sugary drinks. The restaurant itself may be small, but it conveniently provides seating within the food court area and is located near accessible bathroom facilities.
Great staff!! Service is quick, Manager out front checking on orders and quality of service is excellent.

I love the soft drink refills at these fast food restaurants but this specific one doesn't have this in public, for refill one has to get an attended to do that for you....like really, how many times can they be patient to do that? Secondly as we were waiting for the order I asked for tape water and I was told I cannot be assisted because management decided that they can't offer water...like let's go to my first note above...if there was a dispenser like in other Burger kings I would have gotten my water on my own. Last issue, I had a coupon and I was told it's declining; to my surprise it went through at the next Burger King that we bought from.

amazing guesthouse to be in, the showers are superb, the atmosphere is immaculate, the view of the sunrise and the sunset is surreal. they even got a restaurant on premise which has amazing food, I actually live nearby, but every time I want to come, I'm always under a different alias. I'd definitely come back, without a doubt next time for a longer stay instead of 2 days. Thank you! lovely!

Eully and the rest of the staff were just amazing! The welcome and service we received throughout our stay was friendly and efficient. Loved Everything about it. Apart from the dim lights in our room, everything was just on point. The prices for their honesty bar were also reasonable, and I loved that. The Pool? Amazing. The service during breakfast was just as great

Very disappointing- made a booking and paid the next day (two weeks before traveling) - traveling for work and when we arrived were informed that they have no booking for us. Incredibly poor service and not really interested in helping us. Have stayed there before but will definitely not stay there again.

Restaurant
Friends Café is an incredibly impressive establishment, situated adjacent to Gladdespruit river. The sight is breathtaking, and the cuisine and beverages are an absolute must-try - they are extremely scrumptious! The staff is amiable and inviting, providing a professional level of service. If you're in search of a remarkable and distinctive place to dine with your loved ones, I highly recommend Friends Café. Additionally, they frequently showcase live music entertainment that adds to the overall enjoyment.
Wow... just wow. Loved the food. Ordered the halloumi. And they were not stingy servings. I could barely finish it. The calamari was amazing. Id give it a 5 star rating for service, but they were a little slow and unattentive with the order and bill. But Amazing views. Definitely coming back for the walking trails.

Never been here before. My wife my 14-year-old and myself arrived for a breakfast experience at 8 am before we left to return to Johannesburg. We ordered three great meals, Friends Breafqst and Eggs Benedict ,all served promptly by friendly staff and nice cappuccinos and juices. Staff were friendly professional and the environment is Outdoors suitable for children teenagers and for family get together there’s out to seating under canvas seating seating picnic if required adjacent to a water area. Probably one of the best places I’ve been to Nelspruit.

I think I had the best Eggs Benedict of my life this morning. Friends is a lovely restaurant/coffee shop with lots of character. The service is on point, the decor is interesting and quirky, and the food is top notch. My tea was served piping hot, as requested. Everybody at the table enjoyed their meals, and I can recommend the Eggs Benedict without reservation. I wanted to take a picture, but it was so scrumptious that I had finished most of it before the photo happened. There is ample parking with a helpful guard on duty. The toilets are not only spotless, they are pretty too. Friends gets full marks from me.

The staff were professional and friendly. Marceline was of great help, we really enjoyed her service. The ambience is calm, and the food is top tier. We will definitely be back.

Visited this restaurant 4 months ago. If you travel from Mbombela to Kaapshe Hoop you will find it on your righthand side, approximate 5 minutes from Mbombela. This cafe has an absolute, tranquil atmosphere. Listening to the gurgling sounds over the rocks of the Gladdespruit has a calming effect. Food and service is on standard. I encountered a small hickup with my milk shake, but the speed of resolving this minor incident is worth mentioning. Well done to the supervisor and manager. Ample parking at the time of my visit, but it can be crowded on holidays and weekends. Food was professionally prepared. The place is commendable.

A hidden gem in the heart of Nelspruit! Friends Café offers the most beautiful, tranquil setting — you feel completely immersed in nature the moment you arrive. It’s the perfect escape from the bustle of everyday life. Every plate of food is a work of art, not just in presentation but in taste — layered, thoughtful, and totally unique. You can tell a lot of care and creativity goes into every dish. Highly recommended for anyone who loves good food, nature, and a peaceful atmosphere.
