Karersee, also known as Lake Carezza, is a stunning emerald-green lake located in the southwestern part of the Dolomites. The lake offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and fir trees that are reflected in its shimmering rainbow waters. Its size varies throughout the year due to being glacier-fed, adding to its allure. The area around Karersee is a popular destination for visitors seeking beautiful natural surroundings and iconic mountain reflections on the water's surface.
Absolutely gorgeous lake and peaceful forest walk. The colours of the lake are a feast for the eyes with the picturesque mountains as a backdrop. The rainbow lake is definitely worth a visit!

Amazing place to see especially on a sunny day. We were there with our 7m campervan on a Sunday morning around 9am and there were plenty of parking spaces but got busy rather quickly. You need to pay in the ticket machine before passing through the exit gate. Campers pay 9 eur for 3 hrs which is plenty time to see the sights, get some footage and have a meal as well.
Avinash M — Google review
It is a small lake surrounded by pine forests and the Dolomites mountains, offering breathtaking scenery. The water is crystal clear with an emerald-green color, reflecting the mountains and the sky. Easy to reach with no difficult roads. Parking is available at €3 per hour (Oct 2025), and payment must be made in advance at the ticket machine. The area also has convenient facilities such as shops and restaurants, though not very large. Perfect for a short stop to take photos and enjoy a peaceful walk. The atmosphere is calm, cool, and truly romantic.
Tongz N — Google review
Beautiful lake with easy walk around it. You can get there by car (paid parking) Even with the bad weather upcoming it gave some nice effects on the pictures… Recommend for an easy stop and enjoy beauty of nature & its colors!
Charline L — Google review
Absolutely surreal! 😍 The views are breathtaking. If you can visit just one lake, this is the one to see!
Anjana R — Google review
We visited Lago di Carezza, one of the most beautiful lakes in the Dolomites. The water shines in shades of green and reflects the forest and mountains around it, giving the place a magical feel. Parking is easy and costs €6 for 1-2 hours, which is fair for such a stunning spot. A calm and lovely stop, well worth visiting if you’re in the area.
Ryan A — Google review
Awesome lake . Very nice color and nice reflections. There is a parking where you pay by hour. We managed to walk around the lake and managed under 1 hour with a small child. It was in our way, but it worth the stop
Andrei B — Google review
A beautiful little alpine lake with stunning turquoise water and breathtaking mountain views in the background. It’s an easy hike, you can walk around it in about 1 hour. Unfortunately, it’s quite a popular tourist spot, so unless you arrive early in the morning, it can get very crowded. Luckily, most visitors tend to stay near the starting point to take photos, so the rest of the trail around the lake is much quieter and more peaceful.

Chiesa dei Domenicani, a Dominican church in Bolzano's city center, is a historic religious building dating back to the 13th century. This Gothic-style monastery was built by the Dominican Order and dedicated to Saint Mary Magdalene. Despite renovations, it has retained its original beauty. The exterior boasts intricate sculptures while the interior features stunning frescoes and a beautiful chapel of San Giovanni with paintings from the Giotto school.
Dominican monasteries with nicely survived all the bombings paintings of masters of Giotto school. Highly reccomend to visit and enjoy

The Victory Monument, built in 1928 to commemorate Italy's victory in World War I, is a prominent landmark in Gries. The monument, designed by Marcello Piacentini at the behest of the fascist regime, now houses the 'BZ '18-'45 - A monument, a city, two dictatorships' exhibition since 2014. Crossing the Talvera bridge leads to this historical site and also provides access to the Saturday market held in its square.
It is a monument that every person should see. Its a monument that was built after world war I to celebrate Italian victory against austro-hungaric empire. When you are near the monument you can also see breathtaking sights around you.
Doğa D — Google review
We saw the Bolzano Victory Monument from a distance. The walk towards the monument, crossing the bridge over the river, was absolutely beautiful, offering stunning views of the surrounding area. The combination of nature and the monument’s striking presence made the journey to it memorable.
Highway V — Google review
The Victory Monument in Bolzano, built under Mussolini in 1928, long symbolized ethnic and political tensions in South Tyrol. Recent efforts to historicize and reinterpret it—culminating in a 2014 exhibition—have shifted public perception, fostering dialogue and reflection on the region’s complex legacy of fascism and dictatorship between 1918 and 1945.

Beautiful place 👍i was in the summer here and was inspired with this huge architecture, not far from it there ist a river and peaceful nature. The grateful combination of the threes and building. Also in the front of it , through the road you can see an interesting statement. This is a calm place, despite the fact that there are many tourists here in the summer

WW1 monument located just outside city center near the river. It's very imposing. It's possible to enter inside to see a small museum. Unfortunately closed when I visited. In very good condition. Hard to miss.
Paul H — Google review
Museum is well done with friendly staff. Monument should be destroyed, in my opinion, just as swastikas were removed in Germany.
J R — Google review
One of the better small town history museums I have been too. Really enjoyed reading through the history of Bolzano through WW1 and WW2.
Tommy — Google review
Honsetly not giving the monument 4 points, but rather the location. Don't get me wrong, the monument is pretty cool too, but the location is what makes it into a great place for me. Near the city but with a very nice park next to it, that allows for some very comfortable walks throughout the entire year (if you're dressed for it) and every saturday there is a weekly market, where there are a bunch of streetvendors. As I've said, the location makes the monument a lot more interessting.

Nestled in the heart of Bolzano, Parkhotel Laurin offers a sophisticated stay with its elegant period lodging and refined rooms. The hotel is just steps away from Piazza Walther and Bolzano Christmas Market, making it a convenient choice for travelers. Guests can indulge in the upscale amenities such as an outdoor pool, complimentary Wi-Fi access, and even bicycle rentals for exploring the area.
This hotel might just be the best I've ever stayed at. It's special beyond words and perfectly situated within its environment. The bar offers some of the most amazing cocktails, rivaling even the best in NYC, and the pool and sauna feel truly enchanting. The rooms are all unique and interesting, with no two seemingly alike. The bathroom in my room was, bar none, the best I've experienced in any hotel. However, it's the gardens and the way the hotel is placed in this city that truly make it sublime. It simultaneously feels like it's in the city center yet a world away—perfectly integrated into the city while being its own private oasis. Don't hesitate, book this place now. It's that incredible.

We visited Bolzano many years ago and thought it would be lovely to return, and in doing so wished to stay in the best hotel in town! and we certainly did. From the moment we arrived the staff were most attentive and helpful and this continued through our stay of five nights. The superior bedroom booked was very well appointed and had two comfortable arm chairs......which was important to us as we would want to relax at the end of the day. In so many high quality hotels there is so often only one comfortable chair in a room for two people!. The beds were very comfortable with high quality bedding and high quality towels in the bathroom....all changed at sensible intervals. Breakfast was exceptionally well organised with delicious food which was always well stocked. Full marks all round.

We had our wedding at Park Hotel Laurin. It was fabulous. The service was amazing. Everything from the flower arrangements, cake, food menu and wait staff- could not have been better. We worked with Sylvia, Giovanna and Elena and all three were fabulous! Communicating with them from the U.S. to plan everything was so easy! Thank you park hotel Laurin for an incredible evening!
Julia N — Google review
We were very impressed with the Laurin Hotel, especially how well single guests are accommodated! The single rooms are just as comfortable and beautifully appointed as the double rooms, and even offer a lovely view, something that is quite rare. The bicycle storage is equally impressive, as can be seen in the pictures. We would have loved to stay longer to fully enjoy the relaxing resort atmosphere, the high-quality food & beverages, and the exceptionally friendly staff.

I had a fabulous stay at this property. I absolutely loved my room, super spacious, great views of the mountains and town, and even a steam room! The Thursday evening Aperitivo Hour is simply fantastic! What a great thing to look forward to on Thursdays. The property is lovely and has a beautiful garden in the back yard. The breakfast is good. There are so many things to do at this property and it is a 2 minute walk to the train station. The men at the front desk need more customer service training- they are not friendly. The girls are great!

We spent four nights at the Parkhotel Laurin to end a two week vacation that started in Slovenia. The hotel room we had was furnished with a small couch along with a comfortable chair, writing desk and desk chair. The hotel restaurant was outstanding, we enjoyed several dinners there as well as breakfast each morning. Egg dishes such as scrambled, over-hard, omelets, etc., were cooked to order. The orange juice was made on the premises. The hotel is well situated for walking and shopping excursions through the city as well as for car trips. I traveled to the Dolomites for three days of hiking.

Beautiful hotel in centre of Bolzano situated in a Parc with nice sculptures and a very nice swimming pool. Very good restaurant and nice spacious and luminous rooms, beautiful bath room. A recommendation and a treat. Only minus the outside looks a bit deteriorated so after renovation a 5+
Yoav W — Google review
Large hotel with a somewhat upscale feel, friendly service, wonderful breakfast (great coffee!) and a vast outdoor area where you can enjoy food, drinks, music, a small pool and even a sauna (booking required). Good location for exploring Bolzano. There is an outdoor parking area across the street at a reduced rate when staying at the hotel. We had a comfortable room with a bathtub in the bathroom (room 420). On the negative side, annoying with somewhat loud music going on until midnight that you could hear from our room, not ideal when wanting to sleep. Also, wifi was a bit weak in the room, and you could hear people in the adjacent rooms quite well.

Mountain cable car
The Funivia Renon, or Renon Cable Car, is an exhilarating way to ascend from the valley floor to Soprabolzano, perched 1000 meters above Bolzano. This impressive gondola lift covers a distance of 4560 meters in just 12 minutes, offering breathtaking views of the Dolomites and the charming city below.
Fantastic cable car ride giving superb views over South Tyrol and the city of Bolzano. The cable car runs very regularly. At the top there are various places to have a sna k or a meal or you can go further on a short railway journey along the top. There are loads of hiking trails- but best to pick one suitable for your level of fitness ( there are rout3s for all abilities but worth checking it out beforehand).
Joe B — Google review
Very pleasant trip to the Renon plateau by cable car and small local train . We ended at a restaurant where we had delicious apple strudel with cream and ice cream
Vivienne B — Google review
Very beautiful and takes you to little villages above. Nice activity to do for lunch and a bier. The Dolomites are beautiful.
Brad S — Google review
Everyone should try it, the view from the cabins is beautiful. There were quite a lot of people, but the ascent and descent are well organized because the cabins leave every 5 minutes. If you also want to take the narrow-gauge railway up there, the ticket is €20, it is really worth it.
Péter S — Google review
An experience absolutely worth doing if you are near Bolzano. Breathtaking views, Italian-German styles that intertwine in a truly unique mix and flavors that are difficult to forget. Not far from the Bolzano train station it is possible to take the Renon cable car where, once at the top, a beautiful train awaits you that shuttles from Maria Assunta to Soprabolzano, Stella and Collalbo.

Geologic Formations
Earth Pyramids Renon, located in the Renon plateau, are unique geological formations made of clay with conical bases and stone hats. These nearly 25,000-year-old spires were formed by glacial erosion and stand at 10-15 meters tall. The area is accessible by cable car from Bolzano followed by a train ride and a 35-minute walk to reach the pyramids. Visitors can also explore multiple viewpoints of the pyramids along walking tracks.
Great place. Comfortable and well marked way from Collalbo takes about 30 minutes. The only thing, you must come there before 16.00 (winter), if you want to take good pictures with the proper light
Nick — Google review
Great natural place. I took the cable and train from Bolzano and then walked around. It’s a friendly and nice walking place and you can have a great view of the Italian alps.
Alejandro C — Google review
Beautiful natural landmark that is worth to see. Bring something to zoom in so that you can see the stones balancing close up. No tickets needed. 3 ways to get there: 1. By car which is a 30min drive from Bozen 2. By gondola from Bozen, then take the train to Collalbo and walk 30min one way 3. Same as 2., but take a bus to Plattl (bus only drives every 1h) Doesnt matter which option you choose, it is still a 10min walk to the viewing plattform (which is worth it cuz you will see the pyramida better compared to the beginning) You could also make a whole hike out of this, since the path continues after the viewing plattform.
Sokyoul — Google review
If you follow google, you'll be directed to a parking spot with place for 4 cars max at the side of the road. My recommendation would be to drive on to café Erdpyramiden, and start on the trail there. It's both a 5 minute walk, but from the café it's much nicer.

The Imkereimuseum Plattner Bienenhof is a museum about beekeeping located in Soprabolzano, South Tyrol, Italy. It has a variety of exhibits on the subject, including collections of beekeeping equipment and literature, as well as models and photographs of beehives.
The best museum experience we had in Bolzano! Our host, Mark, was incredibly kind and personable. He taught us all about bees, beekeeping, and even the regulations for labeling different types of honey. Mark’s knowledge and fluency in English made the experience even better since we don't speak other languages. The museum is easy to reach, just a 4-minute walk from the train station. Plus, the location offers stunning views during the tour. The honey tasting was fantastic! I never knew honey could have such distinct and unique flavors. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a unique, educational, and peaceful experience.
James S — Google review
Extremely recommendable! For adults, families, and kids looking for eco-friendly activities! Best for kids who can already read, so that they can actively participate in the outdoor Parcours. Mr Plattner is an incredibly nice host and is so passionate about his mission of saving the bees and preserving the cultural heritage of the property. The products are insanely good too! Best quality on natural beauty and pantry products I’ve seen in a while 🐝 🍯 TIP: if you have a SüdTirol/ Alto Adigie visitor card, entry to the museum and even the gondola and little train that takes you there from Bolzano is free!
Ana P — Google review
I recommend this place. Make sure to deal directly with the lady in the shop—she takes her time to explain the different types of honey and their benefits, and she’s truly professional. Just note that dogs are not allowed.
Abdulazez A — Google review
This bee museum was a worthwhile visit. To see the old farmhouse, so well preserved and presented, and to learn of the two sisters who worked so hard to maintain a living, was an excellent story. The bee museum items was the icing on the cake!
Allene W — Google review
A quaint sort of place. It isn't "laugh/thrills a minute", but is very interesting nonetheless and staffed by very friendly, engaging and knowledgeable people. The range of honey for sale is impressive, and the staff also gave us a great recommendation of where to go for lunch.
Mr P — Google review
Excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and honey tasting. Our talk at the beginning was given in fluent English and was highly informative.

Very lovely place. The tour about the bees is outside, but also the inside of the old farm is worth a visit. Don't forget to taste all the honey flavors!

A beautiful and fascinating museum about bees and beekeeping in South Tyrol. The museum is in a 600 year old farmhouse that was still lived in until only a few decades ago. The best part was getting to try the different kinds of honey at the end of the tour!

Hotel Feichter

Hotel
Hotel Feichter is a modest budget hotel located in the town center, featuring a restaurant and bar, as well as complimentary breakfast. It is highly recommended by guests for its friendly and helpful staff, delicious breakfasts, and spotless rooms with modern features. The hotel's superb location offers easy access to transportation, shopping, and restaurants. Run by a friendly family, the hotel provides a great selection at breakfast including gluten-free options and is conveniently close to the train station and cable car.
Hotel Feichter is top-notch at all levels — comfort, convenience, affordability, cleanliness, and, especially, the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. Oh, the breakfasts — an exceptional buffet that includes multiple (and special!) homemade fruit jams and stewed fruits. I would highly recommend staying there. It is staffed by several generations of highly service-oriented members of one family — and now another generation is joining in. I’ve loved this place for years, and it gets even better with new times!

Incredible location, incredible 10/10 breakfast buffet, and it is so sweet to see multiple generations working together under one roof to bring such a great experience. Wonderful stay if you are in Bolzano.
Dylan G — Google review
I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Feichter so much that I was truly sad to leave. For one person, the attic room was very comfortable with adjustable temperature and immaculately cleaned every morning. Plus, it offered a breathtaking view. It is a very short walk from the train and bus stations, and my booking came with a Sudtirol guest pass that allowed access to all public transportation in the area! The offerings, value, and service here are phenomenal. The included breakfast provided plenty of fuel for alpine adventures. Best of all, the family who own it were extremely kind and friendly, providing great recommendations and answering all questions. When I return to Bolzano, I will not even think about booking anywhere else!
Grayson D — Google review
I stayed here one night in September with my two brothers in a three bed room. We really like this place, the staff was friendly and recommended a restaurant that was great. The room was clean and nice. It was also perfect that we could use the hotels garage even if it was located a couple of hundred meters away.

Stayed 6 nights in this family run hotel. It has to be one of the best we have ever stayed in, spotlessly clean, wonderful breakfast of quality food, quiet and located right in the centre of Bolzano. The staff and family are extremely friendly, I highly recommend.
David B — Google review
Very friendly staff always willing to help. Having the possibility to park the car in a private garage near the hotel is a great plus. The room size is perfect and the breakfast is awesome with a lot of options. Highly recommended!
João D — Google review
Great central location, easy to get to. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Service staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fantastic! Lots of selection, tasted great! Definitely would stay again.
Jodi W — Google review
Lovely hotel in a fabulous location, run by a family who were all very friendly. Great selection at breakfast, including gluten free options, pastries, toast, boiled eggs and full continental were on offer with hot drinks and juices. Not far from the train station or the cable car, and they also include the Bolzano card in the price of the room which makes it excellent value. Unfortunately the shower in our room had almost no pressure when turned it to hot and because of our stay being three days, this couldn't be fixed until the day we left. A real shame otherwise it would have been five stars across all areas. Would still recommend though.

Pizza restaurant
Italian restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Bolzano, Il Corso Pizzeria Ristorante is a gem that captivates with its elegant setting and commitment to high-quality cuisine. The culinary duo, Santo Gabriele and his son Francesco, masterfully craft their pizzas using a traditional Neapolitan approach. Their signature dough boasts a unique blend of type 00 and whole-grain flours, resulting in an irresistibly soft and golden crust after meticulous leavening and baking.
Gorgeous restaurant with great attention to visual beauty. We sat outside in the grand covered patio. We shared the hummus falafel salad composed of plentiful salad greens, shaved zucchini, partially dried and fresh tomatoes, crisp hot falafel and rustic hummus. Our Etna pizza was topped with blue cheese, shaved dry sausage, marinara. With so many toppings, the thin crust did not hold together but the flavors were divine.

Awesome, great, and delicious pizzas. It tasted like they flew them in from Naples. The place is very busy, the waiting times for us were long but not bad. Inside was noisy because of the many people. We were lucky that they could find us seating. My personal opinion is that they should remove some seating to reduce waiting times and give the waiters more time to give the customer's a better experience. Because it was generally rushed service.
Lasse L — Google review
Very nice restaurant - it seems its very popular as there were many reservations on the tables. Despite the place being almost full, service was quick. And the pizzas delicious. You can pay with card. I would suggest to reserve table in advance. English menu was only available by qr code on the table.

Easily the best pizza in the town/ area and in my top three for the Dolomites in general. I opted for one of the speciality pizzas and it did not disappoint, great flavour and soft crust!

Drei Birken is an alpine retreat located just 200 meters from Imkereimuseum Plattner Bienenhof. The hotel offers rooms with balconies and mountain views, along with amenities such as Wi-Fi throughout the property and a free private car park. Guests can enjoy the on-site bar and restaurant, which serves excellent food according to reviews. The spacious rooms are equipped with all comforts for a pleasant stay, and the helpful staff ensures a great experience.
This place deserves the top ratings that it has been getting and easily deserves the full 5 stars from me. We only stopped for lunch but were instantly impressed by the cleanliness, the efficiency and the friendliness of the place. Our server was totally natural in at least 3 languages (we are a multi-lingual family, so we appreciate that), he was charming and helpful. The food was delicious, well-presented and really good value. There were abundant supplies to keep the children entertained too and, even when a school party arrived unannounced, the service remained friendly and unflustered. This place was recommended to us by the staff at the local honey museum - they made a good call!

This is a really lovely, simple, family-run hotel, with immaculate, tasteful rooms, great views and wonderful food. We stayed one night on half-board which was amazing value, bit we would like to come back and spend a few days to explore this beautiful alpine area with panoramic views, great walks and lively architecture. This hotel provides free Ritten Passes which gives free access to public transport, a lovely alpine railway with a station 2 minutes walk away and a cable car, although we did not stay long enough to use it. This family-run hotel is a gem, and we recommend it highly!

Great location, even if a bit far from the main roads. We used it as a stay when traveling from Italy to Austria. Friendly and service minded staff. Great rooms, clean and modern. Very nice breakfast buffet. Easy parking.

High quality service, friendly atmosphere, delicious food. Suitable for solo travelers. You can get Bolzano from the hotel by two public transportation. First you should take a train (the train station from 2 min), then switch to cable car. The whole way to Bolzano takes 20 min or so. And I am sure you will enjoy the route. And also the hotel provides a pass which allows to use any public transportation for free. The owners of the hotel (Family Prast) are very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend this place!

Beautiful place in one of the most beautiful places in the world. This nice little family run place is just amazing in hospitality and service. The food is amazing as well. We stayed for 9 days in July attending Giro Delle Dolomiti and this will definitely be my hotel if choice whenever I return to this area!

(Translated by Google) A small restaurant that's part of the hotel. We only ate at the hotel restaurant; we didn't try it. As for the food, it's fairly good quality and tasty. The service is quite fast. When we went on Sunday, August 17th, it was a bit full of flies. I don't want to say anything else about it because I don't think it's their fault. Perhaps they could try something with DDT or at least natural remedies. Anyway, the location is convenient; it's within walking distance since it's in the town, adjacent to the main road. I personally had the fresh finchi tagliatelle, and I have to say they were very good. I'm giving it 3 stars because there were flies, and I wasn't able to fully enjoy my lunch. Maybe there are some people who don't mind.

Italian restaurant
Wirtshaus Vögele is a historic venue located near the beautiful Piazza della Frutta, with a traditional menu featuring local classics such as veal head with eggs and onions, carne salada, and speck. The restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere in the heart of Bolzano and prides itself on using seasonal ingredients from local producers. Diners can enjoy dishes like ricotta dumplings in broth, potato fritters with sauerkraut, and lamb cutlets.
Super friendly staff who helped us with our stroller, both with the stairs and finding a quiet spot. The food was excellent across the board, from the cold cuts (the best I’ve had in Bolzano) to the main dish, everything was spot on. The atmosphere is also very pleasant, making you feel fully immersed in Tyrolean culture.
Gaultierus — Google review
Charming spot near the center of Bolzano, just a short walk from the cathedral. The restaurant is located on a picturesque, cobbled street with lovely outdoor seating under the arcades — perfect for people-watching and enjoying the local atmosphere. Service was quick and efficient. I tried a regional specialty: a selection of Hirschknödel (venison dumplings) with different flavors, served with a warm bacon salad — a typical South Tyrolean dish that was both tasty and interesting. I also had the tagliatelle with wild boar ragù, another local classic. The sauce was flavorful and well prepared, though the pasta itself was slightly overcooked and oddly short, as if it had been cut — a bit of a shame. Still, considering the central location and overall good quality of the food, the prices were quite reasonable. A solid and honest place I’d recommend for a casual meal while strolling through Bolzano.
Eric D — Google review
This restaurant is steeped in history. The staff is professional and friendly. The menu is more Südtirol-style than typical Italian. The Wienerschnitzel, made authentically with veal, was tender and fried to perfection. The Knödel also had a unique flavor I haven't tasted in Germany. I would highly recommend this place.
Chien-Chih P — Google review
Quaint restaurant featuring local tyrolian cuisine. It’s a vibrant spot and institution in town amongst locals and tourists. I found the dishes good especially the octopus and grilled steak with mushrooms. However, I did find the service a bit lacking, not very detail oriented and one may have to repeat their request. Other than that a must try in Bolzano.
Jean D — Google review
Authentic place with South Tyrolean cuisine. When booking, ask for a table either outside on the street or on the first floor - the second and third floors don’t really have the same atmosphere. The food is excellent, exactly what you need in this region: the must-try canederli (traditional bread dumplings made with speck or cheese and best enjoyed in broth), amazing chanterelle mushrooms (now in season), and veal head. The goulash is wonderful, and even the kids’ schnitzel is absolutely delicious.
Natasha K — Google review
The meals we had - ravioli and Schnitzel - were both delicious, portions were nice too, but the inside dining area is uncomfortably hot, however if you opt to eat outside, you need to share the airspace with smokers.
György A — Google review
This was a super tasty wiener schnitzel. We actually came without looking at reviews because this place was always packed when passing by, so one day we dropped in earlier for lunch and even then there was no more seating in the outside or first floor, but luckily still plenty of seating upstairs, which also completely filled up rather quickly. Food was very tasty and I regret not ordering more that day as this was one of the best restaurants I dined at while in Bolzano. It was only later while searching for best wiener schnitzl in Bolzano that this place consistently showed up. Also, the environment is quite cozy, and you can imagine the long history of this restaurant. Only downside is service is quite slooooow, which is pretty much standard in this area.

Messner Mountain Museum, located at Firmiano Castle, is part of a network of museums focusing on mountaineering. The museum circuit was created by the famous mountaineer Reinhold Messner and is situated in Castel Firmiano, an emblem of South Tyrol. The tour inside the castle explores the ancient relationship between man and mountains through artwork, paintings, relics, and natural finds.
Wonderful museum set in an ancient castle high above Bolzano, Italy. Dedicated to European and Himalayan mountaineering occluded those who pioneered the various forms and those who lost their lives along the way. The museum also includes a huge amount of Buddhist and Himalayan art with its definitely worth seeing. It cost us €30 for two adults and we spent approx two hours there.
Bruce J — Google review
Definately worth a visit, this museum is really interesting and beautifully curated. There are fabulous pieces of art dotted all around and every space is utilised really well. Even if you're not hugely into mountaineering, the museum itself is so well designed that there's enough there for everyone. You can walk along the walls and up the towers, but be advised that you would have to be ok climbing as there are a lot of steps, and there's a bit of a rough path to walk from the carpark. There's also a lovely cafe in a pretty setting. I would highly recommend the museum as it was a half a day well spent .
Caroline B — Google review
Amazing museum in a fantastic location. You can lose yourself for hours among panoramas, spirituality and the meaning of mountaineering. Separate segments paint a glorious - although at times sad - picture of life among mountains tops. Great museum
Tony B — Google review
Well designed and varied mountaineering museum located in Sigmundskron Castle just outside Bolzano. Interesting exhibitions and also a nice view over the valley.

It is a unique place to deeply explore hiking history.. Must visit if you like history, fortress, and hiking.
Konstantinos E — Google review
Don’t be fooled, the museum is bigger than it looks from the outside! It was super cool and lots of interesting exhibits to see. We loved the flow of it. The parking is a satellite parking area - it’s confusing but apparently you pay for parking after not when you first pull in.
Amber C — Google review
Not terrible, but would say if you’re looking for a museum about mountaineering and climbing this isn’t for you. Mostly just lots of different paintings of mountains (which after you’ve seen some can get a bit repetitive). Also no real explanations about anything and mostly slightly generic quotes lining the walls. Nice setting and cafe. Would have been good to hear more about the expeditions and the climbing itself.
Nick E — Google review
Not really a museum disappointing for anyone expecting a story First of all, this is not a museum in the traditional sense — it’s more of a gallery filled with various objects that are in some way connected to Reinhold Messner. There are no explanations or context provided, and by the time you reach the end, someone who came in not knowing who Messner was will likely still have no idea. That’s a real shame, considering how fascinating and unique his life has been. There’s no narrative, no personal story, no background on the exhibits — just items on display. If you’re not deeply into alpinism or mountaineering, you’ll likely be confused and left with more questions than answers. But even if you are interested in those things, the lack of depth or storytelling makes the experience quite flat and unsatisfying. The only real positive is the location — the castle is beautiful and the views are stunning. But unfortunately, that alone doesn’t make up for what this museum lacks.

Came in early on a 4 day holiday n sent away. Didn’t suggest we stay and use facilities while our room was being cleaned, most rooms were cleaned by noon or 1 o’clock while we were here. Front desk clerk Marianna has issues beyond my insight and how management allows her to treat guests without empathy, n it was with the guest in front of us too… got back from going back into town by bus ( we didn’t have an auto), n she knew that..n treated like a scolded child with rules for hotel, in front of other guests, at this point I would’ve turned around and cancelled whole reservation, but with wife’s Parkinson’s, I wouldn’t ask her to endure much more for the day. Other staff we superb, bfast was great, room was nice view, other than the bee nest under the molding of the sliding door. Didn’t want to say anything while we were in room as chemical smell is not something I wanted to see or smell. Lastly, checking out, Marianna, checked me out without incidence until I went to bar to get a glass of wine, I ordered and she came up behind me and told the bartender to make sure I paid since I already checked out, I was humiliated again, in front of bartender and other guests, that is why I’m going to deny all charges on my credit card for this circus, not my monkey… she should consider another career choice .

We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The rooms were elegant, spacious, and felt quite exclusive. The rooftop pool and relaxation area were definitely highlights, offering a great place to unwind, although it was a bit disappointing that the bar was only staffed occasionally. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of variety, and the restaurant staff were very friendly and attentive. On the downside, the electric car charging was surprisingly expensive at €0,7/kWh, especially considering the relatively slow charging speed – it would have been nice if guests received a better rate. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would happily recommend this hotel, but with a few improvements it could easily reach a perfect score.

Rooms are clean and big enough for family of 3. Gave for4 stars for rooms cos... balcony view on ground was literally no view. So we were bit disappointed.Small kitchen makes it easy when you have kids with you. . Good service..rooms were cleaned spotless. even the vessels we left behind were cleaned which normally is not case when i visited other hotels. Best location few minutes walk to bustop where you get buses that takes you to city center directly. Amazing breakfast. Wide variety of choices. We had fun in spa and jacuzzi on top floor. Unfortunately the swimming pool was closed. But still worth every cent spent

We had a lovely stay at the Art & Design Hotel Napura. We stayed in the Napura South suite. The rooms were modern, clean, and spacious. The built-in black out blinds were great in helping us get a good night's sleep. The pool was refreshing and not too crowded. We got room service from the restaurant twice and all the dishes we got were 5/5 stars! The only downer of the trip was that we accidently sat in the wrong section for breakfast and got snapped at by one of the workers. Other than that, everything was excellent. Highly recommend this hotel!

Portici

Historical landmark
Portici, originally surrounded by walls, was the heart of Bolzano's trade routes. Destroyed in 1277, it gave way to the iconic street of porticoes with its long shop-houses. The arcades were once a bustling center for trade and housed warehouses, shops, exchange houses, wine cellars, workshops, and apartments. The northern row catered to traders from the south while the southern row served those from the north.

(Translated by Google) The porticoes (lauben) of Bolzano, about 300 metres, are among the longest in Tyrol (shorter only than those of Merano, with its 400 metres..) They date back to the end of the 12th century, and were in practice a sort of covered market, with the headquarters of the merchants with storage warehouses on the upper floors and the possibility of trading in any weather, sheltered by the vaults of the porticoes. Over time, their appearance has been refined, the warehouses have often become palaces of nobles or of rich merchant families. Even today, perfectly preserved, they are the favorite shopping street of the inhabitants of Bolzano. The restaurants, bars and shops present always attract many people, making them often crowded. I ristoranti, bar e negozi presenti, attirano sempre molta gente, rendendoli spesso affollati.

(Translated by Google) It's a wonderful place to stroll through the arcades, feast, enjoy your free time, and marvel at the still-good old architecture. The people are friendly and helpful. Less pleasant is the dog droppings. Their urine corrodes and thus destroys the magnificent old walls and the lovingly tended flower beds. Taking photos in shops is forbidden, but the dogs sniff at clothes and food after they've been in the dirt outside the doors. The owners' behavior is beyond disrespectful and disgusting.

Naturmuseum Südtirol is a two-story museum that showcases the geology and nature of the Sudtirol region, featuring permanent exhibits explaining the formation of the Dolomites from ancient reefs. The museum includes a coral reef aquarium on the second floor and a shop with stone-carved animals. While it offers informative displays, visitors should note that most panels are only in Italian or German.
Amazing museum!!! The scientific exhibitions are great and all but the true strength of this wonderful institution lies in its seats! Couches, benches, alcoves, stools, toilets, you name it... A well earned rest for your worn buttocks. Highly recommend, especially Exhibition 1, which has the comfiest of couches, in great quantity. The locker room is however also worth a visit, with some innovative and modern seating arrangements! Less notable and important aspects include: + Interesting and informative displays and text + Mesmerising aquariums + Hysterical ant habitat - Only the temporary exhibition had English translations, everything else is in German and Italian only 10/10, would sit here again.

A well curated museum with lots of thought going into the exhibits. Unfortunately many of the most interesting only have explanations in German and Italian and the accompanying audio guide in English is simplistic and doesn't cover some of the more interesting displays, which was a great disappointment - especially as so many tourists from the US are now apparently embracing Bolzano. A number of the permanent interactive exhibits were broken, which was also a pity. Unfortunately, this museum, in common with most of the others in Bolzano no longer offers free entry on presentation of a Bolzano card, although there are some discounts available.

The upscale hotel provides a unique experience with modern furnishings complemented by contemporary art alongside 19th-century paintings and sketches. Guests can enjoy free breakfast as well as access to a restaurant and three bars on-site. Additionally, the hotel features a spa offering massages, an outdoor pool, and a fitness center for relaxation and recreation.
Excellent spot in the center of town. Modern rooms with contemporary art, helpful staff, and amazing facilities. Pool and garden of sister hotel across the street a hidden gem of an oasis in the middle of the city - for a mid day lounge and swim and evening cocktails. Breakfast room and terrace are lovely, as is the full buffet with berries and fruit, eggs, and smoked salmon in addition to the standard meat/cheese/bread. Room 110 has a terrace which made for a great space for an aperitif, picnic lunch, and late night tea. Beware the many short staircases which can be a struggle with luggage.

Excellent hotel in an excellent location. Very close to the Bolzano train station. All of the restaurants and shopping are right outside the front door. We got a complimentary upgrade when we checked in to a lovely room with a patio and a beautiful bathroom. One of the nicest hotel rooms we had on our entire trip to Italy. Access to the pool at the sister hotel right across the street was a great feature - especially on the 100° F summer days! Breakfast was DELICIOUS!!! Great espresso drinks, great fresh fruit, and my favorite was the salmon lox Highly recommend!

Very nice hotel located just off the main plaza of Bozano. Our room had a small patio with 4 chairs and an umbrella where we had our morning coffee. The breakfast was excellent with a huge variety of breakfast foods, fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh baked breads, coffee and eggs to order and a hot tea bar. Service was excellent and you had a choice of dining indoors or outdoors on the balcony. We’d definitely recommend Hotel Greif!!

Great (with *one* weird caveat) The service at Hotel Greif is incredible! The greeter was very nice and helpful. Sebastian in the dining room was a delight to my daughter each morning (whoopsy!) and Diego was a very relaxed and informative bartender. Everyone was just great! My only issue was that they drained the hot tubs between 9pm and 8am! Imagine my shock as I'm having an evening soak after my daughter goes to bed, and my hot tub drains on me! And then, I couldn't get up early to enjoy it, either, because it didn't fill until after we left the hotel to explore. I asked the front desk to change the automation, and they accommodated me the next couple days, to differing degrees. I would just warn anyone renting the rooms specifically to use the hot-tubs with a view, that the hours you might enjoy them might not be allowed. I think most people would find this ridiculous--as you paid for it. That weirdness aside, the Hotel Greif is a beautiful place with great staff and is about a ten minute or less walk from the main cable car--which is perfect and lets you avoid driving and parking.

Overall the stay was great. The room as clean, modern and comfortable. The breakfast buffet selection was excellent. My only complaint is the noise. I believe it was from the rooftop bar. You could hear the bass of the music through the walls. Not good for a light sleeper. I only stayed one night so it wasn't an issue but I would have had to move if it was for an extended stay.

The only downside was the artwork in our first room, which depicted male anatomy in every picture and felt more like something a high schooler would draw in a bathroom stall than real art. (Not great for my 13 year old daughter) Our second room was much better, and overall this was a five-star stay thanks to the wonderful service and hospitality!

This is my best hotel experience yet! Upon arrival I requested a bathtub, and these guys offered me the coolest room! A fantastic bed, great views over the main square, bath with a steam shower! And last but not least, a whole piano inside my room (!!) The staff was nothing else but nice to me the whole stay. Will definetely come back. Thanks!

Great location next to the main square and a short walk from both the train and bus stations. Very friendly staff. Spacious and beautifully laid out room. Wonderful breakfast. Overall, one of the best choices in Bolzano as per our experience.

Pizza restaurant
Vivo Vivo pizzeria in Bolzano offers an exceptional culinary experience that should not be missed. Their pizza is unparalleled, with customers raving about its exquisite taste. The restaurant provides outstanding hospitality, as acknowledged by the patrons who have enjoyed their meals there multiple times. To enhance the already delightful pizza, it is recommended to incorporate increased water content, extend fermentation time, and utilize a finer type of flour. These suggestions aim to elevate the quality and texture of the dough even further.
Best pizz I ever ate. If you are in Bolzano this place is a must do. Thank you also for the nice service, we came twice ;-)

The pizza was pretty tasty, but the acoustics in the restaurant are unfortunately quite bad - the walls reflect the sound and make it super loud when other people are talking. We were 5 people around a small table and struggled to be able to hear each other and have a conversation, which made the dinner less pleasant than it could have been. Maybe it was extra noisy when we were there because there were a couple of kids.

a really delicious pizza, suggestions: higher hydration, longer fermentation and a finer farina,

(Translated by Google) We recently tried this new pizzeria in the center of Bolzano. LOCATION: recently renovated. Very welcoming and spacious SERVICE: kind but too slow. One/two more people serving and making pizzas would be useful FOOD: there were 3 of us and we started dinner with a trio of mini arancini (unfortunately these were not particularly good and two were the same). The highlight for which we came to this restaurant is the pizza: Neapolitan but not rubbery, in fact super soft and the dough has risen for 36 hours. We tried a margherita with yellow cherry tomatoes and fiordilatte stracciata (excellent but I recommend adding a salami that gives flavor), a parmigiana (very good) and a special with nduja, spicy spinata and caramelized onion (exceptional). PRICE: good quality/price ratio. Around €20 each Advised! Circa 20€ a testa Consigliato! Prenotate un tavolo tramite IG (oppure ora anche tramite numero di telefono)

Nice for couples and also in large companies. Prices suited to the quality of the products!

(Translated by Google) Excellent Neapolitan style pizza. The quality of the ingredients is very high and the pizza is very digestible. 5 stars for the pizza, 1 star for the price: €30 for two pizzas delivered to your home is a steal! €14 for the capricciosa is almost double the normal price and does not justify the higher quality. (Original) Ottima pizza in stile napoletano.

(Translated by Google) Best pizza 🍕 in town. Ingredients chosen with great care, great preparation knowledge, attentive and courteous service. The times are not very fast, but the quality is more than forgiving. We will return with great pleasure ... if only many local pizzerias were inspired by such ambition! 👍 Thanks to the whole team. 🥰 (Original) Best pizza 🍕 in town. Torneremo con grande piacere ... se solo molte pizzerie locali si lasciassero ispirare da tanta ambizione! 👍 Grazie a tutto il team. 🥰

(Translated by Google) I was lucky, I didn't book but there was room (luckily it's better to book) pizzas, lots of choice (between types of dough and combination of fillings), good, it will read quality ingredients and therefore the price is a little more expensive than usual but it's worth it, good even desserts.

Franziskanerstuben is a charming restaurant located in the historic center of Bolzano, near Piazza delle Erbe. It offers traditional Tyrolean dishes with a modern twist, using high-quality regional ingredients and accompanied by a selection of fine wines. The menu changes daily to reflect seasonal produce, ensuring genuine and authentic flavors in every dish.
Stopped by for lunch while wondering around downtown Bolzano based on reviews. Did not disappoint. Great service. Delicious food and big portions at a fair price. Seems like they’ve been around for a while. I’d strongly recommend them if you’re looking for a good restaurant to eat!

We had lunch here. Great local restaurant with nice atmosphere. You can sit inside or outside if the weather is ok. They serve Italian and Austrian food and both were pretty good. The service was friendly and ok. They have a few day specialties, ask about them before you order!

I had to convince my family to wait with dinner till 18:30 (when they open), but it was totally worth it. We were probably the only customers for like half an hour. For that reason the service was really fast. I had the filled pasta with a butter sauce. Despite the interesting looks It was perfectly cooked and delicious!! My family was also really positive about the salmon.

A wonderful and atmospheric spot in the center of Bolzano. We really appreciated that they accept reservations. The menu leans a bit toward the Italian side, but also features seasonal dishes with chanterelles and South Tyrolean specialties. The chanterelle risotto was outstanding — truly a highlight of the evening. Service was warm and personal, and the wine list is excellent, with staff giving thoughtful recommendations. We loved the evening atmosphere: as it got dark, the cozy outdoor seating with warm light felt magical.

The restaurant is located along a narrow alleyway which added to the charm. The staff were friendly, and the service was quick. The food was not mind blowing, but it was filling. I had the spinach and cheese ravioli.
Tesal S — Google review
Food was typical südtyrolish (gulash and schnitzell), very honest balance between price and quantity/quality. Personally not fan of these heavy meals but if you have to try, try here, they do it typically. A lot of Italian tourists, quick and nice service and the most important trump up the sleeve, it is open on Sundays !

Was craving a wiener schnitzel as my final meal in Bolzano before leaving (after a long two week business trip). This place turned up on several reviews and I must say it did not disappoint. Food was very good and I would come back. Service was rather slow though, but they were having a busy night with a huge entourage of American tourists.

Best goulash I’ve ever we had! We had the lasagna, steak, ravioli, and schnitzel and it was all fantastic. Our hotel recommended it and we quickly found out why once we tried the food. It’s a great mix of Tyrolean and German food.

Al Grottino is a delightful culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for your first Italian meal in Bolzano. Guests rave about the generous portions of Spaghetti alla Carbonara, which stands out as a must-try main dish, while the Cannoli serves as a sweet finale to your meal. Although there may be occasional language barriers with staff, their friendliness shines through, ensuring you feel welcomed throughout your visit.
Absolutely delicious food and friendly waiters. We had a bit of a language barrier with one of them though, but that wasn't a problem at all. My recommendations are Spaghetti alla Carbonara (big portion) as a main course and Cannoli for dessert.

Our first Italian meal of the trip was characteristic and good, and the welcome warm. Excellent Sunday night option in Bolzano.

They spilled the wine all over the table and my fathers clothing. No apologies. When bill came - full charge for wine and the gas water we had to use to try and clean the shirt. We had to fight to get anything from them. In the end 10 euros , shirt was over $150. And no apologies!

The food was good, with a big choice of fish and seafood. But the service was very very slow. It took ages to get the food, the bill and everything!

The asian restaurant Solala offers guests a wide variety of choices, excellent service and a great fixed price. The conveyor belt is currently unavailable but everything remains just as good. In the evening, the menu includes oysters, tuna and fantastic tiger rolls which make it even more interesting to visit. The owners / staff are very pleasant and 12 y.o. had an amazing dinner there.
Great all-you-can-eat and Kaiten Sushi Bar (conveyor belt). Been visiting since 2017... Plenty of choice, top service and a good fixed price. Currently, due to Covid-19, the conveyor belt is deactivated but everything remains just as good. More variety in the evening including Oysters, Tuna and fantastic Tiger Rolls!

Had the running sushi all-you-can-eat lunch option: Although it wasn’t the most varied and best sushi we ever had it was still extremely good value for money and a nice experience! Staff has been very quick and friendly! Very recommendable! ;-)
