The Minack Theatre is a remarkable open-air theater nestled into the cliffs of Cornwall, near Land's End. Carved into the rock by the sea, it offers stunning views of Porthcurno Bay. Originally envisioned in the 1930s for a performance of The Tempest, it continues to host diverse productions today, including those by the RSC. Visitors can enjoy a unique experience watching performances against the backdrop of breathtaking scenery.
Come rain or shine, The Minack Theatre ceases to provide endlessly great performances - be they epic Shakespeare performances or promoting local bands - it is a definite must visit. I’ve been lucky to see many performances this year and look forward to the few remaining. The Minack Theatre is a spectacular open air theatre carved into the granite cliffs of West Cornwall, near Porthcurno Beach, and overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. Built on a single-handedly by Rowena cade in 1929, it has performances in a dramatic setting that blends the natural beauty with artistic expression. Such a joy to experience not only the performance but also the wild and natural beauty of us surrounding coastline and ocean life. The seating arrangements within the Minack are based on a tear system, please don’t worry, as I have sat in all of the tiers now and can see the stage and hear the sound quite clearly. 😊 When you visit, make sure to take a comfy seat and warm clothing (maybe a rain cover), especially towards the end of August as you never really know what weather to expect. I always treat my friend and I to a lovely picnic supper and que for the delightful Minack hot chocolate during the intermission. Make sure you arrive at-least 45 mins before the show to get to your seat, wrap up if needed, to have a nibble or two.. and then hunker down and enjoy the captivation of the show and the sublime coastal surroundings - you may even see a seal or Dolphin pass by. My new favourite day of the week.. Minack day.. 😊🙏✨

Great place and fantabulous views of the cliff and the sea! Mesmerising view of the turquoise blue sea! We went on dry sunny day and loved the views and the place. Amazing architecture and would get some worthy snaps! Sarah and Jane in the helpdesk ticket centre were very kind and helpful and sorted all our clarifications!

Highly recommend watching a show, it’s the most unique backdrop for a theatre. Worth paying for a seat close up as it’s not that much more expensive. Bring a jacket, cushion to sit on as it’s concrete or grass. And bring your own snacks too. Turn up an hour early to park up and get the best seats in the area you bought tickets for. If you’re booking a taxi, make sure it arrives early before the show ends otherwise they’ll be stuck on the single track lanes

What a surreal visit! Totally beautiful amd so many nooks and crannies to see. Our visit was cut slightly short due to a theatre group using it to practice (which was awesome, they were doing we will rock you!) But we saw enough to be wowed.

Fantastic place. Just the history of it is mind boggling. What a woman of great strength and determination. Although there was no show on, just to walk amongst the structures, plants and museum. Great cafe and the views!! Breathtaking

Lovely place to visit. We didn't see a show just wanted to visit the outdoor theatre. Some great views. Of the coastline from the theatre. Would recommend a visit. Car parking was good. If you book a time don't get there to early as you can't get in till your allowed time. I would advise to book a visit in advance.

Visited The Minack Theatre in August, saw Kate J Paterson with my family in the evening. She was so nice, It was amazing! View was incredible, great succulents , coffee / tea and chocolate available. It was quite an emotional experience. 💚 It showered a little and a rainbow came out. I would definitely recommend it and would love to visit again.

What's not to love about this fantastic venue. I've been visiting once or twice a year for 3 decades. They seem to be opening up to more mainstream musical acts now though I've seen many plays, opera and ensemble pieces here too over the years. Occasionally the performances are a little dodgy but you can sit back and stare out to sea. Once when I was there a pod of a hundred dolphins came across the bay. The play stopped of course. Amazing sight. Wrap up warm and dry and check the weather reports as performances are sometimes cancelled if the weather is particularly stormy! Top tip is to arrive early and enjoy the landscape pre performance. Another top tip is to combine it with dinner and a drink at the Logan Rock Inn a few minutes away in Treen or somewhere in Porthcurno itself. Take a cushion and picnic. I usually use one of those waterproof cushions you can buy for garden furniture. No dancing though (for obvious reasons)!!!! Photos are from the Seasick Steve show in September and the Three Daft Monkeys show in April 2025. Recommended.

Nanjizal Bay, located on the Penwith Peninsula in Cornwall, is a remote and secluded ocean spot known for its natural beauty. This hidden gem features a tall and narrow rock archway called the 'Song of the Sea,' caves, rock pools, and a stunning waterfall. Despite being one of Cornwall's best-kept secrets, it is often deserted due to its seclusion.
f you're looking for a truly magical spot along the Cornish coast, Nanjizal Bay is worth the effort. Best visited when the tide is going out, this hidden beach reveals stunning rock formations, crystal-clear water, and the famous Song of the Sea arch. You can’t drive directly there – the nearest access is by foot, with a scenic walk of about 40-30 minutes from either Land’s End or Porthgwarra. But don’t let that put you off – the walk itself is part of the experience, with breathtaking coastal views and peaceful surroundings. It’s quiet, unspoiled, and feels like a secret slice of paradise. Perfect for nature lovers, photographers, or anyone wanting to escape the crowds and soak in Cornwall’s raw beauty.
SASAN N — Google review
I don’t have much photo about the stunning bay in close distance. However, it will be a special experience if you spend over 30 minutes to get here like us from Land’s End. You will walk and pass bush around 3 feet tall, and some plant is with thorns. In summertime, the water trapped in rock pool is bit icy. Suppose anyone live in place not having 10C difference in a day, it might take time to get comfortable with. Despite I didn’t swim to the end that reach the sea with armpit distance, I can still find the beauty for this little rocky beach.
Jen H — Google review
Great destination to hike to from either Lands End or Porthgwarra car parks. If you want to get close to the famous sea arch then check your tide times and aim for low tide. Beach sand comes and goes. It was just large rocks when I was there last. There are steps down to it too.
Grant B — Google review
It's really nice, and the sea is as clean as crystal. I started walking from lands end and it was amazing how stunning it was along the way. And there I could see seals playing in the sea in the middle of nature, it's not in the zoo 19/6/2025
Wimy R — Google review
Visited last year lovely beach with an awesome cave that you can swim in during low tide. The beach is a little tricky to get to as it's not near any roads. It's accessable by footpath from Trevescan or along the southwest coastal path from landsend. For parking, i recommend using the landsend carpark as that's probably the closest.
Ben W — Google review
Beautiful scenery at this rocky beach. We hiked here from the Sennen Cove bus stop (via Lands end) and went back inland through the public footpath to catch a bus back. A great hike with 2 kids (9 and 11). Beautiful and easy.
Beatrice G — Google review
If you’re expecting a fabulous beach then DO NOT bother wasting your valuable time making the effort to trudge over rocky terrain and steep descents etc which will take you at least an hour ( you’d have to be running for it to take you less) to come across a “beach” that’s not even worth calling a beach in my opinion.

Garden
Nature & Parks
Nestled on the outskirts of town, Trengwainton Garden is a 16th-century country home with stunning gardens that offer scenic woodland trails, exotic plants, and breathtaking views across Mount Bay and the Lizard. Originally established in the 19th century, it flourished in the early 20th century when exotic plants from Asia were introduced.
This isn't a massive garden but we visited when the azaleas, camellias, and rhododendron were out and it was beautiful. Easy access paths for wheelchairs or pushchairs too which is good to find. The cafe only had a limited menu on the day we went as they had been busier than anticipated but the food was nice and service excellent. As most NT places these days refreshments are fairly expensive but not too extortionate. Gift and book shops were well stocked. Very enjoyable few hours indeed.

Beautiful garden just outside Penzance. Woodlands, walled garden and a breathtaking terrace views across Mounts Bay to The Lizard. There is a shop and as always a cafe for refreshments. If you're disabled with limited mobility they have partnered with Countryside mobility allowing you the use of their electric Tramper Buggy for a small fee of £3/day or £5 for 2 wks if you plan visiting other attractions they support.

This is a lovely garden with some lovely plants and views. It's easy to do a nice circular walk which takes in all of the garden. There's a nice mixture of woodland and formal gardens. The gardens are fairly well maintained although some pruning is needed to open up some of the paths which would be difficult to access if you were in a wheelchair. On the map all of the benches are marked which is really handy and I've not seen that before. There's a lovely cafe seeing delicious cakes, lunches and drinks. Free carpaking is also a bonus.

Beautiful gardens and views. This is an idyllic garden tucked away a few miles from Penzance. The Summer of Play meant loads of activities for children and families. Really friendly staff and a lovely cafe. This is a great outside escape for a few hours.

Nice place to go for a coastal walk. Can be a bit windy at times and waves can sometimes splash onto the path, so be careful!

Seems funny to review a promenade but we stopped just up from jubilee pool on the way to lands end. Had a coffee and croissant at pickle coffee caravan (there were other food stalls also) while enjoying the sea view. Then crossed the road to a little hidden play park. One of the best kids play parks we have been to. Will definitely be back. Free parking as well.

beautiful coastline & promenade, lots to do & see. The pickled van on the seafront serving homecooked toasties with homegrown pickles (unfortunately we didn't get to try any as they'd run out of them) was absolutely delicious 😋 and finished off with an iced coffee I would highly recommend trying them if you get hungry 😋

Far away from everything... that's what I always thought when looking at the National Express timetable with the final stop in Penzance and here we are and we have no regrets. Not only the promenade, but the town is worth visiting and taking a longer walk along the streets to discover its charms... at least the part near the promenade.

Whether you opt for the take-away or dine-in option at their spacious restaurant on Penzance Promenade, you can savor your meal alongside stunning coastal views.
Cannot tell you how excited I was to have a full gluten free menu to choose from especially when I thought I was buying food for the rest of the family and having beans on toast when I got back home! All our food was delicious and the view from the bench opposite the shop wasn’t bad either!
Gwyn C — Google review
Disappointed with food here. Chips were very bland. Especially since they were freshly cooked. Also the portion size is embarrassing just around 30 chips for £3.50. and quite a few were small. (See pic) . Fish was OK but small for regular size., Wouldn't mind paying if it tastes nice. Another guy there couldn't belive the potion size also. The staff just said that that's the regular portion. I got the impression they hear that alot. Just over £60 for 4 fish and chip with 3 mushy peas.
MN R — Google review
Disappointing portion size. Compared to my usual by the spar in hayle to not mention names. The fish is far less in size than the above store for £9.50 per piece. And chips not as tasty and again smaller portion. £25 for 2 pieces of fish. One chips and a ketchup pot. It’s a lot to pay when the fish portions are small compared to other local Fish and chip shops. I would recommend trying another.
Nineyards C — Google review
Very cheerful polite staff. Ordered via in store machine which was straightforward. The portions were generous and great that you offer gluten free option. Not a cheap meal anywhere these days so would say average price really. Our first time having read the bothe the good and bad reviews and based on this experience would recommend and come again. Annoyed didn't bring 10% discount card from holiday home;)
Ger B — Google review
Ordered a regular cod and chips which was cooked to order. Good sized portion, and very tasty too! Some of the best chips I’ve had in a long while. Staff were friendly. At the time of visiting (Jun 25) it was takeaway only
Paul E — Google review
Really clean and spacious, so not cramped while I waited for my order to be cooked. Plaques on the wall with recent accolades, quite impressive. The cod was beautiful, cooked to perfection. Staff were well presented, jolly and worked efficiently. There are options for ordering online or through kiosk's in-store. I just went to the counter though as It was quiet. I went back in after devouring the meal in the car. Had to try some ice-cream, really tasty 😋 I'd definitely recommend and will use again if we holiday nearby again.
Rick B — Google review
Food was fine but portion was small for price. Expected more than about 30 chips for £3.95. Service quick and place clean.

Penlee House Gallery & Museum in Penzance is a Victorian home that showcases art and exhibits on the history of West Cornwall. The museum also features a park, making it an ideal destination for history enthusiasts and art lovers alike. Currently, the museum is hosting a captivating exhibition titled "Luminaries: Victorian Photographers in West Cornwall," offering rare insights into the local community during the late 19th and early 20th centuries through unique images of west Penwith.
This was a superb spot to visit, offering £4 entry for under 26s! Artwork is shown of not just seagulls but the other birds of Cornwall too like Gannets, artwork shows sailors at sea and the cliffs themselves some pieces look so realistic it is almost like being there. Appreciate Hilda Quick's detailed map of what to expect across Cornwall and the stuffed birds in glass displays, there are even crafted models of ones in different poses! Farmland artwork is beautiful capturing the rural areas and there is info about farming's history in the county, the model of a place of worship is really well done itself. Shop windows are marvellously replicated and tourism industry is dived into from the bikes to railways, paintings also capture Cornish society expertly!

We had a free, brilliant guided tour of the current exhibition, having timed it just right. This is probably our fourth visit to the Penlee Gallery which has some extraordinary Victorian and Edwardian Maritime themed paintings and a collection of Newlyn copper, Troika, Crysede, and other Newlyn/Cornwall related exhibits. Quite expensive for tickets but worth it if you’re visiting.
Leigh B — Google review
This place had been on my to visit list, especially with being a fan of the local style of art and Penzance history. There was an environmental themed exhibition taking place, with the artwork chosen for display reflecting the theme. Downstairs, and a room upstairs contains the gallery with the rest being local history. I love visiting local museums as they are so unique as they reflect that specific area. I was very surprised however that there wasn't a display about the Branwell family and their connection to the Brontë sisters, besides the fact that house was formally owned by a member of the Branwell family (and this is mentioned a few times) There is an entry fee (£8 for adults)

A delightful gem of a gallery with interesting rolling exhibitions, we loved the one about Birds- some really beautiful and thought provoking artworks. Great for kids too!

Always fabulous exhibitions, the current one about birds is great. Also my favourite painting "the rain it raineth ever day". Helpful and informed staff, nice cafe, though too busy when we visited, too much rain to sit outside!

Total gem of a gallery and museum. I was aware of the Newlyn School but didn't know much, now I'm a huge fan of their work. Yes, it is fairly small but if you spend time reading the information and actually studying the art you can spend a good amount of time there. And the museum section is just as interesting.

Gino's Spaghetti House is a popular chain known for its wide variety of Italian dishes, including pizza, pasta, calzones, chicken wings, and submarine sandwiches. Customers have praised the excellent food and friendly staff who make them feel like regulars. The steak is particularly highlighted for being tender, juicy, and flavorful. While some found the calamari chewy, others enjoyed the generous portions and fairly priced menu items.
Ginos spaghetti house was an unexpected, delicious surprise. The food was incredible, even better than what we had in Italy and the service impeccable. It is deceptively low key looking from the outside but don't let that fool you. This restaurant really hit the mark with food and service. Thank you.

Excellent food! The staff member who served us was brilliant too! She made us feel as if we are there regular customers! Very please about deciding to go there. The steak was melting in the mouth, it was so tender, juicy and flavourful. The only thing we didn’t like was the Calamari, it was quite chewy! Other than that it was really lovely experience here. The view from the restaurant was also quite nice. It was just right beside the sea. Went for a lovely walk on the seafront after lunch.

Me and my girlfriend had a good experience with this restaurant. We ordered 2 pizzas capricciosa and tiramisu for dessert. The pizza was fresh and tasty, properly baked and the taste just how we like it. The tiramisu was a little different from what we are used to have, had some chocolate sprinkles on top of the cacao, but we enjoy it and was a pleasent experience. We had 2 young waitresses who made us feel welcomed and were very attentive to our needs and served us with a genuine smile. The restaurant had vintage décor and looked clean. Decent prices for the location ££.

A quiet Tuesday evening away for business. A really friendly welcome from the ladies and I had the crab linguine special. Tasted exceptional for a little Italian by the sea. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Penzance. Excellent staff and amazing pasta/ pizza to match!

We had a delicious dinner here recently. The server was very friendly and prompt. We enjoyed sitting by the front with a view of the ocean. The salad was very fresh with lots of vegetables and olive oil/balsamic on the side. Both of our pasta dishes were tasty! We would definitely return.

The food was super tasty and affordable! The atmosphere was relaxed and authentic. The staff were lovely and attentive and showed genuine care. I had the Penne garlic pasta and it was genuinely so fantastic it blew my mind. The panna cotta was delicious and creamy, and great value for money. I definitely recommend :)

The food was all very good. We had scallops and mussels, which were both nicely cooked, but the sauces were little strong for my taste. The pizza was fresh and tasty, again perhaps too much fresh herbs for our taste. The cheese toasty was also good. We felt the prices are a little high for the food but the view is lovely and the wooden booths provide an intimate cute atmosphere. We would go again.

What a place! Gino's is an often overlooked gem of a restaurant, located with scenic views of Mounts Bay. The decor is beautifully vintage in feel, and oozes charm and warmth, you feel like you've stepped back in time, but in a good way. Their menu is just right, a good variety of pizza and pasta, Italian cocktails (strong coffee liqueur too) and a nice specials board too. I had crab linguine and it was delicious! Their focaccia was so moreish, as good as any high end restaurant in town. The portions are generous and Margo creates a cheerful atmosphere. This is a great place to have a birthday meal, they take bookings by phone, but I prefer email and that was no problem either. Just such a wonderful place and I hope it never changes, it's so great!

So we visited out of season and mid week so wasn't difficult to get a Table, the Waiter did say it's always advised to book and the place isn't massive so I'd probably advise the same, as for the menu there's a pretty good mixture of Fish meat and veggie dishes, with a Specials bord to boot with Fresh local fish, so obviously I ordered a Burger 😅, food came out very fast small portion of skin on fries and the burger well cheese bacon veggies. It was Nice and well cooked but a little uninspired, There was no flare or style. Followed it with a chocolate almond Sponge.... Ummm yeah was the same tasted ok just not memorable. All n all the food is pleasant the waiter was brilliant didn't really have a atmosphere.

Excellent place to eat! Warm atmosphere and service. I had one the sea food bisque, which was a special. It was very tasty with fresh fish. Well worth a visit.

Avoid this restaurant. I ordered a fish n chip and a burger takeaway over phone being 1hr 30 mins earlier as a treat to a long journey home. Its really a rip off as it costs 24 pounds for a simple fish n chips and 18 pounds burger which doesnt come with fish. Pictures really justify the quality of the food. I mentioned specifically food had to be ready at 1:45pm as we have a train to catch. The receptionist reassured me the food will be on time as they have around 90 mins to get the food ready. And there we were, arrived at 1:40pm to get the food. When paying, I asked to waive the extra portion of chips. They said they couldnt as they've made it which made completely sense. However, it was around 1355 that finally the food was ready. Being pannicking, the manager was really helpful by saying "You will be fine, still get plenty of time." I ran to the train station as fast as I could and was glad I did as the train took off 5 mins earlier. Anyway, just a personal horrify experience. The restaurant seemed nice. But for the food I had gotten, I would completely recommend 45 Queen street and The Cornish Barn which are not far away. 200% nicer and they certainly don’t have a rude manager with really poor attitude which basically put you off to any appetite you have. By the way, this is my first and ever 1 star to any restaurant. I always give my 5.

We booked a table to eat at the restaurant yesterday. I am a seafood lover and hoped by the reviews that I read about the restaurant to be impressed. Because I wanted a selection of seafood I ordered the Langoustines and shrimp dish. The Langoustines were serve with brocolli and a lemon and dill dressing but unfortunately it lacked seasoning. The shrimps with garlic, ginger and Asian salad was better but again not seasoned enough. The peppermint tea that I ordered leaked all over the table and the waitress almost burned herself because the handle of the teapot fell of. The service was good, waiting staff was friendly and polite. The atmosphere in the restaurant was really nice with some good music.

5/5 Overall 5/5 for service: welcoming and friendly. Let us order some drinks and check on the menu while we wait. 5/5 for food: great combinations for meat and vegetables, on the dishes. Great decorations to. Coffee was not bad. Highly recommend the cod. 4/5 for ambience and cleanness. But the organisation here can be improved. The bar and the back kitchen’s position might be the reason why staffs getting too busy. Good restaurant.

Food is very delicious. However portions are quite small for the price.
Rebecca S — Google review
The food was good and well prepared, but the service felt rushed. We had to wait to order, then the bill was brought before we’d even finished our drinks, making us feel pushed to leave. A disappointing experience despite the quality of the food.

The Pirate Inn in Penzance is a family-friendly pub that offers a wide range of music, from traditional folk to modern pop. It's known for its accommodating staff and generous portion sizes, making it an ideal spot for families with children or those with specific dietary needs. The inn also provides a peaceful atmosphere, ensuring a good night's sleep despite being a lively pub during the day. Visitors can enjoy quick service and high-quality food while listening to live bands in the garden.
What a lovely, traditional pub. Such an attractive building, inside and out, and we received a really warm welcome. It was a lovely surprise to find they had a tapas menu and all the dishes were amazing. They also allowed us to park our motorhome in their car park, which was very kind.

We stayed in one of the pods. For the first two nights we had an uncomfortable bed but when we told the management they changed the bed and from then on the stay was wonderful. The pod has a fridge which was a bonus. It was clean and had a great shower. The location was great as we were midway between Lands End and Newquay. Also had the pub food which was simple but good. Overall enjoyed our stay at The Pirate Inn and if we are ever in England again would definitely stay there. Highly recommend the pods.
Audrey M — Google review
Rooms above the pub are extremely basic ( we stayed in room 1) The bathroom door does not closed properly. The shower is extremely rudimentary and has very little water pressure. There is a dusty airing cupboard that is rammed with towels but it would not lock. Above the bed is a cupboard with all electric circuits for the pub, kitchen and rooms. I don’t think it should be in a bedroom. The condition of the room and furniture is outdated and tired The carpet does not look the best. The landing is messy and the access unappealing. Our room was directly above the pub and on the first night it got a bit noisy until midnight. It seems that the excellent ratings are for some pods outside the pub, but they are stand alone near the beer garden and brand new. The pub, surprisingly, does not provide breakfast and although our room had a tiny fridge and coffee and tea facilities, there is virtually no room to be able to have anything beyond a cuppa. The only saving grace is that the staff were lovely and the pub is quite charming. We did not eat in there as the menu is nothing exceptional ( some menus on previous reviews must be ancient as the one provided has nothing to do with them)

Showed up here later than expected, they kept the kitchen open for us and made a fantastic meal. Stayed in the cottages on the outside that are new and very cozy. Staff were all very helpful and kind, if in this area would definitely stay here again.

Amazing stay in a little cabin. Clean, functional, cozy. They thought of everything. The shower was so luxurious. Couldn’t believe the value. Especially loved eating at our own table in the private garden right outside the cabin. An easy 15 minute walk to town. Hugely recommend.
Cayla B — Google review
Unfortunately the food is not good here. I had the pasta bolognese and the pasta looked like it had been sat out on the side all day or had been microwaved, it was all stuck together and didn’t taste good and the bolognese didn’t have much flavour. The person I was with had chicken strips, and they were mediocre at best.
Rainbow 7 — Google review
Great stay at The Pirate Inn. We stayed in one if the wooden pods. Very clean, great size and well equipped with tea, coffee, biscuits, milk, toiletries. Little fridge also provided which was a bonus. The double bed wasn't the comfiest and the shower kept going hot and cold but otherwise a great place to stay. Roughly 15 minutes walk from Penzance centre - easy walk. Pub staff were friendly, large beer garden and good selection of drinks. Food was reasonably priced for what was served - good standard pub food.
Emma S — Google review
Sad to leave this review as we used to like coming here. You always got reasonably priced food but still good quality. The last two times we’ve been it’s gone downhill. We came today for dinner for my daughter’s 13th birthday and the food was terrible. The chicken burger was horrendous and the lasagna was like a microwave meal. The kebab shops in town do better quality food! Such a shame as a friendly pub and the staff have always been friendly and welcoming and it’s a good place for a game of darts, with a nice beer garden for the kids to play in.

Day 2

Northeast side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northeast side side of town. Start the day off with St Michael's Mount, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

St Michael's Mount, located in Marazion, is a captivating rocky island with a charming village, medieval church, and castle. It is a renowned landmark in the area and offers visitors an opportunity to explore its rich history through tours of the house and grounds. The picturesque 360-degree panoramas add to the allure of this medieval monastery. Marazion beach provides a stunning backdrop for swimming, making it an unforgettable experience.
Beautiful most see place. We got the boat over as the tide was high. But on low tide days you can walk along the causeway. Beautiful gardens, unfortunately the castle was closed.
Emma L — Google review
A very nice experience. Make sure to wear suitable footwear such as trainers as paths can be difficult to climb or slippery ( depending on the weather ). I had a fun time climb walking up and down and the view was beautiful. Inside the castle was very interesting.
Lin — Google review
£28 to visit the castle/gardens, and £3 for the boat. I've always wanted to visit here, and glad that I finally have. I think it is overrated. The parking situation is a nightmare. The walk over the causeway was the only fun/interesting part. The walk upto the castle wasn't particularly challenging or difficult as I am able bodied, but several people did seem to find it challenging on such a hot day. Anyone with mobility or health issues will need to reassess visiting, as there are no wheelchair routes/ramps and the ground in several places is loose/cobble/rocky, with large steps and often you have to scramble up parts of the path. The shops are staggeringly overpriced, and we avoided buying anything from them. The garden was predominantly a large selection of succulents and palms with nothing of interest. The castle, wasn't particularly interesting with only a small potion of it accessible. The "gallery" they have on the way out had some interesting pictures/paintings but no information to give context to them. You can quite easily walk around the garden and castle within an hour. As others have mentioned, the causeway is tidal so make sure you are aware of the times as several people did get caught out while we were there.
Karl B — Google review
St Michael’s Mount is amazing, the short boat ride to the Island followed by a short walk to the top gave beautiful views of the mainland. The castle and church and small are beautiful and very well maintained. My only tip would be to turn up early as it gets very busy once the tide goes out and walkway becomes usable.
Justin — Google review
Very beautiful historical site, and an enjoyable walk when the weather is right. Although I’d definitely avoid when rainy or windy. Went on a bank holiday Monday and there were quite a few rude tourists around which was unpleasant, but didn’t sour the experience for my family. The price for entry is very dear for what you get, but if you enjoy history, a good walk, or a beautiful view of the city then it is definitely worth it! (Plus, if you’re lucky you can see seals just outside the island!
Daniel P — Google review
The highest spot amongst the area, so you can see far distance when you stand at the top of the castle. The things exhibit in the castle didn’t catch much of my interest, only the huge spoon for roasting coffee beans at the time that when coffee introduced to the UK. The rest interesting would be maps to me.
Jen H — Google review
Simply beautiful!! Be aware of a few things, I came in a rainy day, at 9.45 am the tides were off until 2pm-ish but not to worry you can take the boat back if you missed the walk back. Anyway, the road to the castle involves old made stairs out of rock which can be slippery if you don't have proper shoes, Okies am uneven terrain as well. It takes about 10-15 minutes up the castle. The views are stupendous 😁 I came when the gardens were closed, sad, I've read good thing about it, but next time I'll check when they're open so I can visit again.
Florin S — Google review
It’s brilliant here! Keep an eye on the tide times so you can walk over the causeway, otherwise you need to get a boat. We had National Trust memberships so got to visit the castle for free. We went in the first week of September and dogs weren’t allowed, so just double check if it is out of season. Lots to do and see, and the castle is beautiful! Quite a few steps to go up and it’s very steep, so also worth bearing in mind.

Long Rock Beach is a dog-friendly option near Penzance on South Cornwall's coast, offering a mix of sand and shingle shoreline. While it may not be as glamorous as other beaches in Cornwall, it remains quiet and popular among local dog walkers. The beach provides views across the bay to St Michael's Mount and offers ample space for walking and enjoying the scenery. Additionally, there is a large car park available at an affordable rate.
Great beach and is dog friendly only issue being the surf waves are the no dogs end, so if you've got dogs no surfing body body boarding, parking is reasonably priced as well, good views of St. Micheal's Mount

Very pretty with good views. The art sculptures are very cool and fun to interact with. Many benches and places to sit.

Noty favorite of places I must say. Long walk to find the dog friendly area which was the worst part of the beach section. Lots of seaweed and hard to find a place to put a towel down. Hard to go to if you have young kids. Colors to the trains Depot. No cafe nearby or toilet. Ok if you are just passing by bit not to spend the day
Susana V — Google review
A great strip of beach, especially not being cluttered with holiday junk and cafes. Always meet friendly people on the beach or path. There's a few oddballs as any place has. Even nicer the rustic Hoxton beach cafe with world altering coffee and phenomenal toasties. Really great for paddle boarding and kayaking. My four-star reason is terribly over expensive sculptures what you can't even call them that. Nother good reason for council to waste money.

Jubilee Pool in Penzance is a stunning open-air lido with notable art deco architecture dating back to 1935, giving it an exotic feel right on the beach. The pool offers a beautiful and historic experience in the charming Cornish port town of Penzance. In addition to visiting Jubilee Pool, visitors can explore other attractions such as Chapel Street, The Exchange Gallery, Penlee House, Morrab Gardens, and Trengwainton Gardens.
After five days of dancing and hiking, I really needed to unwind. The thermal pool was delightful with an hour being the right amount of time. I was able to stretch and relax. Not too crowded and plenty of places to change clothes. Lifeguards on duty seem to be observing the action. I was there at the end of the day when they were covering the thermal pool after we were leaving. Felt safe, leaving my items in the sitting area while I swam.
Sarah — Google review
We have had the best morning and lunchtime at the Jubilee Pool today. It was lovely to hang out on the poolside, ordering coffee take away from the cafe and watching our children playing in the pool. We all came together for a picnic lunch only for them to return water-side once again. Great family day out.

Lovely location - an art deco pool with coloured changing room doors set above the sea below. A larger pool for swimmers and a smaller pool for others. 2 lifeguards on duty and a cafe with inside and great views from outside seating over sea towards st Michael’s Mount.

The Geo pool is so warm! Walk in a bath. It was a quiet area where you could just lie on your back and float in the salt water, looking up at the sky. Perfect. We could have been anywhere in the world. The sauna was good with a hide away corner. Changing places and lockers in there. Booked in on arrival.

Fantastic pool, with friendly staff and great facilities. Geothermal pool was so warm and clean, and the main pool was invigorating, but great too! Lovely relaxed and friendly atmosphere. So pleased to have been able to visit, and would definitely return. A fantastic asset to Penzance and huge credit and congratulations to the team making it the success it is🤩

What a treat! We soaked in the geothermal pool under glorious sunshine at the end of September—I'd highly recommend booking in advance to secure your spot. Afterwards, there were plenty of clean changing rooms and a wonderful warm shower, which was the perfect end to the visit.

Bought a great ice-cream in one of the shops there. A 99, with a chocolate flake, for only 99p. But it was a Special offer for the day, as it was a Vintage Bus day there, which is held yearly. Am looking forward to next year already ☺️👍
Julie T — Google review
Wharfside in Penzance? It's not your typical shiny, big-city mall, but that's actually its charm. Right by the harbour, you even get sea views while you're shopping, which is pretty cool. It's got some of the usual high-street names, but what makes it stand out are the local independent shops. You'll find a nice mix of unique little places that really give it a Penzance feel. It's practical, covered (great for when it rains!), and super easy to get to from the main car park. Don't expect fancy, but it does exactly what you need, with a bit of Cornish character thrown in.
Andrew I — Google review
The lift used by us to safely access the high street was out of use when returning. There was no signage telling you times of operation. We therefore had to walk down the very steep and long steps with a pram. Also felt very unsafe in not only the centre but the entire town overall.

I came here for a dog friendly afternoon out. What a lovely place. It’s very steep so not for everyone but I did see someone with a pram. There are step-free paths all around. The steepness makes for loads of amazing views across to st. Michael’s Mount. Many interesting sculptures which seem sensitive to their surroundings. Beautiful planting as well in a jungle style. Really enjoyed our visit and the dog was knackered so bonus points.
Mondaise — Google review
Lovely walk with fantastic views. The sculptures around the gardens are lovely but I really enjoyed the walk and views. Lots of seating opportunities. Depending on which route you take around the garden there is a steep incline which you can go up or down but you can avoid it completely if you’d prefer. We took our 2 dogs and it is very dog friendly. Plenty of parking. The cafe looked busy when we were there and we didn’t use it but it seemed very popular. Have been to Tremenheere many times over the years and will continue to go for years to come.

What a wonderful way to while away some hours. Gardens are fabulous, sculptures are interesting, obscure and fun. Some wonderful surprises await in certain places like the camera obscura and the Tewlwolow Kernow! The views to St. Michael's Mount are a bonus. make sure to stop off at the nursery and kitchen. Great food, lovely, helpful staff.

Beautiful and well worth a visit. Dog-friendly gardens with so many different levels to view St Michael's Mount and the sea. The sculptures blended into the garden sympathetically with more than the occasional surprise too.

Cornwall is not short of gardens, and with the local climate they all appear to be amazing, however Tremenheere stands out head above the crowd. With the paths that keep inviting you to explore and the amazing views and sudden vistas it is certainly amazing. It is also full of contrasts... Whilst calming it triggers curiosity, whilst poetic it is bold. On top of that there is an amazing restaurant on the grounds, with food served in manner which entices you to try and then finish each and every bit.
Slawomir K — Google review
My second visit and I wasn't disappointed but delighted that it still excited me as much as the first time. Was a warm day and we took the the dogs so the shade and stream kept us cool. The wonderful ferns and pools with sculptures hidden but revealed around the next corner. Sculptures to allow to to process and make your own opinions, sculptures with hidden meanings, sculptures that display a feeling and allow you to explore and understand what the artist was conveying. To top it off a wonderful cafe to talk about your experience and refuel . ❤️

That place is just a must to go!!!

Lovely ice cream but tables, chairs and the general area around the seating was filthy. Yes ,people should clean up after themselves and bin their rubbish but you'd at least expect the staff to wipe the table tops occasionally as kids do tend to drip ice-cream everywhere. I had to wait about 30 minutes for my late Sunday lunch, but the fish and salad was totally worth it. The restaurant was quite busy, but I'll definitely be back next time I visit Cornwall. When we walked in, we were warmly greeted by a member of staff. They kindly showed us to a table and gave us menus to choose from. We ordered hot drinks and they were delicious. The level of hygiene is extremely good, all the displayed cakes are covered. Highly recommended to visit, worth visiting. We will return.

The most amazing experience, god I wish all service was as friendly and attentive as tremenheere kitchen. The girls working the day we went couldn’t have been nicer. Everything arrived beautifully presented and tasted delicious and fresh. Can’t recommend this place enough and will definitely be back. After exploring the most magical gardens we were greeted with huge smiles from the staff. We were lucky the sun was out so we got to sit on the terrace. The food arrived quickly as did the drinks, we asked for recommendations out of the fish choices and both opted for the crab linguine. Absolutely delicious and made even better by a glass of French rosè, someone knows their wine as it was top notch. We asked for coffees after and our waitress kept an eye on us and waited for us finish our wine before delivering delicious fresh ground coffees. Although this sounds obvious our waitresses attention to detail made the experience seamless for us. All in all a fantastic experience and we will for sure return again. In short, don’t miss out on this place, you can visit without using the garden so makes a great place just to pop in. I recommend calling ahead and booking! I’d give 10 stars if I could.

First the service. Impeccable, super helpful friendly and nice! Then the food was really good. Fantastic place to bring your whole family. We will definitely come back

The food here is just delicious, quality ingredients simply cooked and beautifully presented! We are hooked on the homemade tortillas, triple cooked chips and croque monsieur!!! The settings are lovely too, a stylish modern interior with a log burning stove, colourful chairs, locally made pewter seashell condiment dishes and always fresh flowers which are also available to buy! The attached gallery is filled with unusual and reasonably priced makes from local crafts people. A must when visiting this area

Chinese restaurant
Sea Palace Chinese Restaurant in Penzance offers an intimate dining experience with a wide variety of dishes and decor inspired by Chinese history. Known for its crispy and aromatic duck, the restaurant is highly recommended by those familiar with authentic Chinese cuisine. The menu caters to both dine-in and takeaway options, making it convenient for all preferences. Visitors can also explore other traditional seafood restaurants in the area or opt for fine dining at nearby establishments.
For a family of 6, it was the first time we have all experienced a chinese restaurant and it’s safe to say it was amazing. Food came out hot and all at the same time with hot plates. Staff were incredible and helped us with our food choices. Their tip was well deserved. Highly recommend.

We decided to try Sea Palace on a whim, and were impressed with their vegan and vegetarian offerings. I am so glad that we did, as we were blown away by the place. The restaurant itself is lovely, and decorated very nicely. All of the staff we encountered were super welcoming, and very friendly. The food was exceptional, very tasty and good portions! It is a little on the pricier side, but it is more than worth it. We were very excited to be able to have a vegetarian version of Sweet and Sour balls! The Sichuan tofu was juuust the right amount of spice and taste also! All in all, we were very impressed and are looking forward to returning!

Very beautiful place. They seem to have put all their money into the decorations and robots they have ferrying food around, rather than caring for their live fish that have 2 inches of water to live in. That being said, the food is incredible. Expensive, but incredible.

One of the best chinese restaurants I have been to in the UK. You have options for free street parking as well as pay and display nearby. Traditional Chinese ambience with good lighting. Apart from delicious food, something else that's worth mentioning is the service. The staff were friendly and lightning quick. Would definitely recommend.

Our first visit to the Sea Palace whilst on holiday. We chose four different dishes to share and each one was amazing. The staff were so attentive and nothing was too much trouble. It was a lovely relaxing atmosphere and we had a great evening. Thank you so much for fantastic food your warm welcome and kindness. We would definitely recommend the restaurant to others and will be back when we are in Penzance next time. 🥳

Really nice that they have a vegan set menu (you can also order individually). We enjoyed the selection of different starters and mains - definitely more interesting then what's on offer at the surrounding pubs. Service was great - friendly but unobtrusive.

A group of people came from Hong Kong and Malaysia. Visited UK for a week and already craving for Chinese food. By chance, stumbled upon this and it was incredibly scrumptious. Mad love the egg fried rice and eggplant dish. Everything was so good except the one hot and sour soup which tasted pretty odd

Stopped by for lunch and a pint after touring Micheal’s Mount. Conveniently located between Penzance and Marazion if driving or walking as we did. We had the Veg and the Chicken Curries. They were both excellent. Friendly and efficient service.

While visiting Cornwall recently we looked for somewhere to enjoy a Sunday Lunch . After doing a bit of research we found the Mexico Inn . We booked for a Sunday lunch the first weekend we were on holiday, we found on arrival that there is very limited on street parking so headed for the nearby Longrock car park. The parking charges are very reasonable and it is only a five minute walk back to the Inn. After browsing the menu we all opted for the beef brisket Sunday lunch although there were many tempting alternatives on the menu and specials board . The roast was a generous portion was really delicious. We just about had space for pudding but couldn’t decide on what to pick , solution, The Mexico Inn do a sharing board with all their puddings to share ! These were as excellent as the main course . We would highly recommend coming here for lunch but best book as it gets very busy . We enjoyed it so much we came back the second Sunday of our holiday for the same again !

Looking for a spontaneous Sunday Roast in Marazion, we landed here because the other place was fully booked. Serendipity was on our side! My wife and had the roast, mine with pie and hers with a regular roast beef. Sooo yummy! The trimmings as well, superbly seasoned veggies. Good craft beer, too - and I love this is a dog friendly place. They even have dog ice cream! We don’t own dogs, but we appreciate having them around. Just makes every place better ;-) We liked the pie so much that we bought a frozen one when we left. Happy we could do that here. Will definitely come back.

Nice pub, sadly limited menu and vegetarian options, not a place for fussy eaters. Wouldn't rush back, people playing cards (in the dining area) which was quite noisy when we wanted to chat whilst waiting for our food. Pies were nice but, having to pay extra for sides ie: peas, cabbage, and gravy just added to the bill. Nowhere to park either.

Me and my husband came for a meal the other night. Amazing food, especially the pies. The homemade desserts were delicious and good value for money. Staff friendly and helpful. Would recommend, thank you for a lovely meal.

First visit. Interesting bar and nice friendly environment. Staff were great and very prompt service. Food was very good . I had one of the fish and chip dishes off the specials board. Negatives: Difficult to find somewhere to park. I was offered mushy peas and tartar sauce only to find both were an added extra on the bill.! Yes I should have noticed this on the menu.but. making the dish very expensive.

Went for Oktoberfest - needed to know about accessibility ahead of time and the staff were very helpful. They have ramp for double doors at rear and ground floor was accessible for large power chair👍🏻😌👍🏻 and the punk bands were awesome. Thank you!

Took my partner out for her birthday we had a lovely meal and the staff were friendly, all but one (hence the markdown of stars) I went to the bar to order some more drinks and the young barman saw me and continued to look busy stacking shelves right in front of me for what felt like 5 minutes, no one else at the bar I had to shout ‘excuse me’ very loudly even though he was only 2 feet away on the other side of the bar. He was so close I could've tapped him on his shoulder but then i might have been up for assault in this day and age.

Came in for lunch - just looked good through the window. The welcome, drinks and food were excellent. Lovely hidden sun trap of a beer garden. Dogs welcome. Recommended if you are in PZ.

Such a lovely place and a fabulous meal. I was there in early June and the place was packed, thankfully I had made a reservation. I had Chicken and Wild Boar Paté for a starter and this would have been sufficient for a light lunch. It was very tasty with a lovely caramelised onion topping and served with a very tasty chutney. Following this I chose the Duo of Lamb, also excellent. 👌 My dessert of Summer Berry crumble did not disappoint either, it was obviously freshly cooked and piping hot. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming.

Lovely old pub full of little nooks and crannies. Much like its neighbour the Admiral the food is superb but elevated a notch or two. A great menu with superb choice and delivers on great quality and good value. The pie is a proper pie too not a casserole with a lid.

Super little pub that looks very small on the front but extends inside into many levels and through to the beer garden at the rear. Very nice staff and Landlady who have this treasure of a pub looking amazing throughout. Parking is limited outside, but this is a beautiful grade listed pub and is definitely worth a visit if in the area. It was refurbished to a very high standard 2 years ago but very in keeping with this traditional very old pub... ( One of the oldest in the area ) Lots of seating throughout Including a private dining area down stairs. 😎

Any rating less than 5 stars would be an insult for this absolutely gorgeous pub! I had a divine chicken schnitzel served to me within minutes of my order - something that can make anyone suspicious ( the obvious question raised is do they prepare dishes in batches? Am I going to eat something that was cooked hours ago?) but very glad to find out my concerns were in vain! The pub in itself is beautiful as well and the staff members are very friendly and helpful. I really can't recommend this place enough!

Pizza Friday for us at the Admiral Benbow. We had a perfectly crispy crusted pizza with what they call the piggly wiggly toppings. Add in a Greek Salad and a couple of pints and it all amounted to a great place to escape from the worst of the rain.
Steve C — Google review
Historic pub with lots of ship artefacts inside, low ceilings and interesting separate rooms. Food is pretty good but a little on the expensive side as it is a tourist place. Didn't seem to be enough staff and they were very busy trying to keep up.

Looked forward to visiting for the fish and chips, which is expensive at £20, but we thought it would be worth it for the experience. We walked out before ordering anything because we got a cold reception from the establishment. The host ignored us initially instead of acknowledging our presence to let us know she’d be with us shortly. When she was finally ready she greeted us from over her shoulder. She explained the food would take a while which was fine by us as we walked in without a booking, but they didn’t do anything to make us feel welcome (for example, asking if we would like a drink or bringing us a menu). We had to ask for a menu from the bar ourselves. The corner we sat in didn’t smell great and as we didn’t feel welcome anyway, decided we would spend our money elsewhere. Not a fan of giving bad reviews as I believe most businesses are trying their best. But it seemed this place didn’t try at all and was actively discouraging us to spend money there. Probably an amazing place if you catch them on the right day.

This establishment really surprised us. We wanted to go somewhere nice for breakfast/brunch and this popped up as a recommendation. It surpassed all expectations we could have had for this place - coffee was amazing, food was delicious and the staff really hospitable. One of the best establishments in Penzance for sure and one of the best breakfast places I've been (and this would include travels to Barcelona as well). Highly recommend.

Solo traveler visit for breakfast. I visited on 26.08.25. I was first customer in cafe and had just arrived off the sleeper from London. Looking forward to a nice breakfast to start my break away from life. However it was a disappointment not what I was expecting from the cost and review’s previously given by others. I ordered the big meaty and coffee with extra side of toast and honey. The breakfast arrived but was overcooked and as result every element lacked any flavour if anything. The sausage was a regular sausage although was expecting traditional hogs pudding or something similar. I was unsure as to if I had received the toast as it had seemed to been added to the breakfast with the honey already added which is very unusual to have received like this. The coffee was fabulous however. I also work in the industry for 20 years and this has to be one of the worst experiences I have had. I can’t understand how bad it was despite being one of the first customers. As an act of respect for the industry I’d rather leave honest review than stress staff out. Very expensive £25 for one breakfast and coffee I’m undecided as to visit in the future when I return to Cornwall. Heartbroken

I would drive 7 hours back from Cambridge to go here again! The food was insane, the people were so friendly and it's such a cute place. The curry loaded fries are an absolute MUST. Genuinely our favourite place we ate at on out trip to Cornwall A very cosy and warm restaurant with happy and helpful staff and cool decor. The food was genuinely some of the best food me and my partner has had. And the cocktails were brilliant. Highly recommend getting food here.

I would not recommend it as they are most likely selling the re-heat supermarket food. They charged the fried shrimp which i think they bought it from tesco at nearly £10. And the noodle is instant noodles but they charged at around £18.

Great little place for an evening meal. The staff were friendly and saw to us quickly. There is quite a small menu but what they have tastes amazing! We had the pulled pork and jalapeño scotch egg as well as the philly cheese steak taquito for starters and the california fish and chips and pork belly with mac and triple cheese for mains all of which tasted amazing. They also have a good range of cocktails and everything is really well priced! Would definitely go back again!

If we were grading this place just on food it’s a 10/10 easily. A great hidden gem stashed down an alley way in Penzance than we almost missed but am so glad we found. The menu was great and it was hard to decide what to have with so many different and interesting dishes to choose from. Both of the dishes we had were incredible, full of flavour and looked great. The tandoori fish was a great twist on fish and chips and the curry gravy it was served with almost got drank! The beef brisket tacos were some of the best we’ve ever had, unbelievable flavours. However what let the overall experience down was the rudeness, immaturity and unprofessionalism of the two young girls working on the downstairs bar. They spent the whole evening side eyeing, making comments and laughing about guests and playing on their phones. It’s such a shame about their attitudes as everything else about the restaurant is fantastic and shouldn’t impact the incredible food.
Jamie W — Google review
A great find, I must say I didn't regret my choice going here despite the range of other highly rated restaurants near by. The menu balances dirty tasty comfort food with a fresh, high quality finesse in flavour and presentation. The milkshake was beautiful and the maple bacon fries were amazing. The hardest part was choosing what to order. I would return here just to try the other menu items. The service is friendly, personal and quick. Please give this place a try!

Love this place. Stumbled upon it by accident when visiting Penzance for work, and they cooked me a beautiful meal. I had the crab risotto and pan-fried hake. Familiar dishes, but cooked well (and with a very nice glass of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc on the side). The staff were very attentive and the restaurant itself is lovely, located down a picturesque side street. The prices are quite high for the town, but well worth it I think. Highly recommended.

A lovely hidden gem in Penzance. Family owned. The steak was seasoned beautifully with an exceptional peppercorn sauce, and although the temperature of the steak was slightly off the first time round (and I honestly mean very very slightly overdone), the staff was more than happy to redo the food from fresh. The restaurant is slightly hidden from the main street but it is a beautiful location with a lovely view. The drinks were fresh and very tasty. The staff was lovely. You do have to pay a £15 per person deposit which you can cancel up to 24 hours before your reservation though and they are booked up usually so reserve it advance. They don’t always answer the phone though, we had to go reserve in person.

Fantastic little restaurant in Penzance guaranteed to give you a lovely meal. Service was good and all staff polite, friendly and welcoming. Food quality and presentation were very good from appetiser to desert! Reasonably priced too. For 2 people each having an appetiser, starter, main, desert, coffee and 2 cocktails (each) a very reasonable £70 per head. Yes, we’re were stuffed and nearly needed rolling out afterwards! Cocktails were tasty if a tiny bit inconsistent depending on who made them (but always yummy). Would highly recommend the mackerel pate and monkfish coconut curry. Our only negative was that the steak wasn’t exceptional and therefore compared to the other dishes it was our least favourite and the only part of the experience not aligned with the rest.

My partner and I stayed for the evening from Sunday to Monday. The staff were friendly, room quaint, clean and comfortable. We had Sunday roast which was excellent. A lovely espresso creme brulee and pear crumble for dessert. Breakfast was great. The hotel made sure my non-diary milk was available and double checked with me on my orders for dinner. So highly recommend and thank you to all of the staff. Will definitely visit again.

Popped in for a meal tonight and had the most exceptional food and service from Chloe & Daniel on front of house. Kitchen team created a delicious lamb dish with asparagus that was totally divine. Chloe in particular is a credit to the team as nothing was too much trouble and everything was done with style & grace. Will most certainly be back 🥰

Thank you very much for the hospitality. A special shout out to Rihanna who had excellent service skills and looked after all our needs on the Friday evening. She recommended a great wine and really gave us the personal touch which is why we will recommend and visit again and again. She made us feel like valued guests rather than customers. Thank you Rihanna for going out of your way to make our stay special.

Firstly, the service was amazing. The staff was 5* but the food… we were quite disappointed. Might be due to the perspectives of a five star chef and his son but I will give the credit where it’s due! The ribs were lovely, however the cabbage wasn’t far off raw. My father had the lemon sole which still had the scales on the skin. He said it had seemed to be steamed or cooked rather than grilled as it had no sear to it and the flavour was not there. The fish had also seemed to have been defrosted, noticed in the taste that it was not fresh. My Cajun stew- the clams and prawns seemed to be fresh which was amazing - however; I noticed when I bit into the corn and tasted the sauce that it had an acidic taste and that it was off. I instantly told the waiter quietly (as I noticed the gentleman next to me had just ordered the same thing) and she had offered me something else off the menu. The lamb rump was lovely, however for £26, we thought you would get more than 5 small pieces of lamb. My pavlova was really nice however my fathers affogato seemed to have half of the ice cream scoop missing??? I was as confused as he was as we looked around at the people who had ordered an ice cream and had a completely different portion. When we had gone to pay we were charged the full price. We had mentioned that it wasn’t right to be charged for a meal that was spoiled and they had taken it off of the bill and were apologetic. I only feel bad as my father didn’t have too much patience after he noticed they didn’t have the intention to take it off themselves without us mentioning something and him choosing to hold his tongue based off of his experience. Other than those bits of the food, everything else was a vibe !

I popped into the comfortable bar for a nice glass of wine. The barperson was efficient and welcoming, the lounge was very comfortable, and the wine list was interesting. I will visit again and hopefully stay and have dinner next time!

My sister and I visited the Artist Residence from India last week. My sister fell sick on the first day and had to go to hospital. Jane was superb. She helped us book a taxi and directed us to the nearest hospital. Jane checked in with us and was very helpful during the whole visit which really made the Artist Residence feel like a home away from home. I would definitely recommend Artist Residence to anyone visiting Penzance.

Had a quick meal in this spoons today. Food was pretty well made but not immaculate. Tables not very clean but this is a problem across the entire wetherspoons chain. Staff seemed happy and very quick to respond to orders. A good service overall and worth a visit for a quick meal.

Had a bbq Chicken pizza..as good as any I've had. Had a dodgy glass of rose wine but the staff were great, agreed it wasn't good and replaced with a better wine...couldn't ask for more. All the staff were friendly and a pleasure to deal with. But the best thing were the weird people in there...made my day...I like characters..!!

Curry night (Thursday), probably the busiest and noisiest Spoons we've been in for some time. All the more reason to thank the hardworking staff for bringing drinks quickly and hot food in good time. All with friendly efficient good humour. Well done all of you!

Stopped by this spoons for food. Food was fine, normal spoons food... Food turned up after double the time the wait was on the app, although my partner's food came out within minutes (even before his drink turned up), and he ordered after myself and my four other family members. Went up to the bar to find out where the rest of the food was, and the staff were not helpful one bit. The first thing he said was, "Would you like a refund?" he did then radio to the kitchen, of which we got the response of "It will be ready when it's ready," which was entirely helpful. The shift lead was the only one that was any help at all, who came over to us and asked if we had had our food yet, as he had noticed that we had ordered yet not eaten. I know its a spoons but even for spoons its poor service .

Popped in for a drink and ended up having a meal too, prices and food were excellent value, staff constantly busy cleaning and clearing away. Well done.

One day they have a decent service and the next day is the worst thing you can expect. Everything was fine one day and the next day they didn't want to serve us. The table was dirty, they were racist and rude, worst costumer service ever. I felt very discriminated 'cause they ask for European or British ID and didn't want to accept anything else, I won't recommend any Wetherspoon ever again. Shame I can't give them 0 stars.

Indian takeaway
Curry Corner is a charming restaurant that goes above and beyond to cater to dietary restrictions, offering delicious vegan options upon request. The talented chef, Irin, creates outstanding dishes with a wealth of knowledge about the food. The open kitchen allows diners to witness her culinary magic while enjoying the wonderful vibe of the place. Additionally, the friendly staff provides excellent service and a warm atmosphere for both dine-in and takeaway experiences.
One of my favourite places. Irin is an extremely talented chef. I have worked my way through her specialities, and they are all outstanding. She’s very knowledgeable about her food, and we’ve had great chats as I’m also interested in cooking myself. There’s a big table in the takeaway, so you can eat in also if you like, which I always do… It’s fantastic watching her work her magic as it is an open kitchen… Her brother and her daughter are also very lovely, and the place just has a wonderful vibe. I would highly recommend, it’s a 10 out of 10 for me.

Excellent Indian and Bangladeshi food to take away. As tourists from France, we had intuition it was fresh homemade food and we really loved what we tried. Very tasty and fresh! Congrats to the cook. We would definitely like to take away from your place again when we’ll be back in Penzance!

Outstanding Indian food at a very reasonable price. The Tandoori specialties are all fantastic, thanks to a wonderful chef. The staff are very kind and attentive. While this restaurant primarily provides take-out food, we were able to eat at the restaurant (limited seating). The menu features traditional Thai curries, noodle dishes, and a variety of vegan options. Customers have praised the delicious food and excellent customer service, making it a top choice for those craving real Thai flavors in Penzance.
Im not a usual fan of vegetable dishes but when I tried the food here I found it really great .The girl and boy who served us were really friendly and the food was amazing. The chef even came out to ask us and other customers if we liked the food! ( A really nice gesture) ALSO THERES WIFI! The restraunt is really clean and well decorated too ,the menues look vintage and really lovely. The bathrooms were incredibly clean; something you don't see quite often in restaurants, so overall I really enjoyed my experience here 100% would come again!

The food was quite good and the service was good but the bathroom exhaust fan was a bit broken which is why it lost a star otherwise it would’ve been 5 stars.

We were searching for good restaurants around Penzance and came across this place. We managed to get a table without booking, would recommend to book restaurant was filling fast especially peak times. We had mixed starters 10A and ordered spicy stir fry pork with rice, but they served us prawns stir fry by mistake. But we were happy with prawns and it was lovely -nice flavours and on spicier side-but would definitely recommend to try this restaurant for good authentic Thai food.
Elizabeth V — Google review
Walked in on Friday just before the rush so was able to get a table. They do seem quite popular as it started to fill and they were receiving constant phone orders. Despite that, our food came out quickly all hot and delicious. We got the mixed starters 10B which comes with the excellent fish cakes, chicken toast, ribs and chicken skewers. I know most of you are probably used to prawn toast, but the chicken toast was a great match with the satay sauce and sweet chilli sauce provided. These starters were eagerly gobbled up. As mentioned by another reviewer, the pad thai was oily but it still tasted fantastic. The massaman curry on the other hand wasn’t oily. It was perfectly creamy and delicious. The only reason I am taking off a star is because the male toilets had a broken tap. It works but gets dislodged and needs repairing. It was otherwise clean and functional in there. My partner said the ladies toilets had no issues and she was happy with them. Everything we ate here was delicious and the service was top tier.

Food was delicious, presented well & was served without much of a wait. Partner doesn’t normally like Thai food but is now converted. Nice decor & obviously popular as restaurant full midweek. Recommended to friends who were equally impressed- would definitely return

We got to Penzance pretty late, around 9pm, and thought the kitchen might be closed before the restaurant actually shut down, like in some places. But thankfully, it wasn't! Overall, the food and service were really good. I had the Prawn Pad Thai and Fish Cakes, and both were super tasty. The prawns were fresh and huge! Although, compared to the Pad Thai I tried in Thailand, this one was a bit wetter than I expected. I think it could’ve used a bit more bean sprouts and peanuts too. I guess they tweak it to match local tastes. Anw, it was still delicious!
Duong T — Google review
The food is very authentic, flavourful and amazing! We tried the vegan and vegetarian options and they were too good. The atmosphere was bustling with a very polite and friendly staff! To add on top of that the service was very fast as well! Will be visiting again!
Richa J — Google review
This place had an amazing cover to their menus and bill, the whole restaurant had an incredible design PLUS the food was really tasty. As someone who loves spice it was a tad bit disappointing but other than that it was delicious! The service was really nice, the lady servicing us was checking up on us and gave my younger siblings a bowl of jellybeans! Some meals I'd recommend are definitely the red curry!! If you are a kid or someone who isn't really into thai there are prawn options which were inducible, I did not get them on camera.

My boys loved this arcade. There were lots of fun amusements inside, some new and old ones. The 2p machines were good fun. You can win tickets for big prizes. There is a laundrette here and an over 18s area for the big money prizes.

My family went there in two different cars, checked the signs for parking and it said "free for costumers". Three week later my family got a £100 parking ticket for each car (£200) but we can't even appeal because everything was paid in cash. I called the casino on my dad's behalf to ask for CCTV proof of them being a costumer and they no longer have the images for that day so we can't proof their were costumers. The casino staff washed their hands and said: good luck. Disgusting! Don't go there!

Great space and cafe with regularly changing exhibitions. Recent one was around climate change which was interesting and more conceptual art then traditional. Contacted the restaurant whilst walking around Penzance looking for somewhere to eat. Although it was 8.15pm and the kitchen closes at 8.45pm, they told us they would happily serve us. We got there and were greeted by 2 lovely members of staff who were so helpful and friendly, and couldn’t do enough to help us. The food was divine and if you get the opportunity to have the crab cake, do! I would highly recommend Blacks of Chapel Street and will definitely visit next time I’m in Penzance

Food was brilliant, customer service not so good more attension needed from staff to make customers feel wanted and serve their needs rather than ignored. Make sure you book a table we had to wait for an hour after the restaurant stopped serving food (say night) to be allowed to order but it was worth the wait. Will definitely come again but I hope the service will be better next time.

Amazing restaurant find in Penzance. We got the seafood platter for 2 from the specials that night. They were actually all sold out by the time of our reservation but one of the managers was super nice and tailor made one from what they had left in the kitchen. The fish and prawns tasted very nice and the scallops in particular were great and perfectly cooked. The food was all fresh. 4/5 stars

Wonderful seafood restaurant. Booking advised. Best seafood platter that my husband (former 5*chef) and I have had. Gorgeous langoustines, crab, mussels and more. Welcomed our three girls and service was excellent. Children can have smaller platters of adult menu, mine opted for fish & chips & mussels. A very busy bank holiday Monday but handled with professionalism and ease. Highly recommended.

Had a really good experience here, professional staff service with a smile even though it's bank holiday busy. I spoke with the owner after having a small issue with a part of the seafood platter, which was wonderful by the way, it was corrected without fuss. It's really worth booking prior, as when we were sat enjoying our food the amount of people that came in and were unable to be given must have been whole restaurant over again... can't wait to go again

The Artist Residence Clubhouse is a charming timber-clad outpost located in Penzance's old quarter. Guests can savor smoked and wood-fired local cuisine alongside craft beers and wines. The hotel also features a buzzy bar, summertime seafood shack, and rooms adorned with bold art and tasteful flea-market treasures.
I visited here for the first time and ended up having both lunch and dinner. The food was simply amazing, being vegetarian I could only order salad, sandwich and Tacos, they were all delicious. Had never come across roasted squash in a salad and it was very good, the portions were smaller though and I was left craving for more :) The service was really good too, the ambience very cosy

Lovely decor. Accommodating. Fantastic drinks menu/ selection. Sunday roast dinner - meh. Lacked flavour. Could have fit on to a side plate. Beef was really fatty. Wish we had tried something else however, if the other reviews are anything to go by, the chefs know how to cook good food so I expected much more from a £19 Sunday Roast. A lot of room for improvement I’m afraid.

Sadly I can't comment on the food as we were completely ignored. We came through the rear gate after following signs to the garden. We sat down and two members of staff came into the garden and didn't even acknowledge us. After going inside and asking what we should do I was told that we should have entered through the front door, waited to be seated and then we would have had attention. Maybe if that's the case there shouldn't be signposting to the garden. We left.

We had a delicious meal at the Artist Residence Clubhouse in July 2020 on our mini moon. My husband enjoyed the cocktails and we both indulged in the steaks for dinner. The wine selection was good, too. The steaks were cooked absolutely perfectly and they were full of flavour. The clean interiors and vibrant colours used in the restaurant felt homely and welcoming. Ancient Ruins
Lanyon Quoit is an ancient megalithic tomb located in a picturesque rural setting near a road in Cornwall. This Neolithic burial tomb, dating back to 3500-2500 BC, is one of the oldest stone monuments in Cornwall. Although it was reconstructed after a storm in the 1800s and looks different from its original form, it remains an impressive site to visit.
Lanyon Quoit currently has three support stones which stand to a height of 1.5 metres. These bear a capstone which is 5.5 metres long, and which weighs more than 12 tonnes. In the eighteenth century the quoit had four supporting stones and the structure was tall enough for a person on horseback to ride under. On 19 October 1815, Lanyon Quoit fell down in a storm. Nine years later enough money was raised by local inhabitants to re-erect the structure, under the guidance of Captain Giddy of the Royal Navy. One of the original stones was considered too badly damaged to put back in place, thus there are only three uprights today and the structure does not stand so high as it once did. One of the uprights was turned at right-angles when the quoit was re-erected, but that is the only part of it which had its orientation changed. The cap stone is still aligned much as it was before the monument fell. The quoit lies at the north end of a long barrow 26 metres long and 12 metres wide. The barrow, which is covered by grass and bracken, is damaged and its outline is difficult to see. At the south end of the barrow are some more large stones that may be the remains of one or more cists. Small lay-by to pull in.

Well worth the visit. Stunning place and so easy to get to.

Second time I’ve visited this one, last time it was cold, windy and wet, but today perfect weather. Quiet around the area so parked in the lay-by closest to it, hopped over the stone style with the dogs and snapped some pics. It’s worth seeing Men an Tol, Ding Dong mine, the Celtic chapel & Holy Well plus more historical Cornish landmarks whilst in the area as they’re all close by and for a fit walker and guide to show the way it’s a nice day out.

Awesome little find while driving around. Parking is a bit awkward, but there are a couple of passing places to stop, if you are quick. Lovely peaceful area with great views around.

Tricky to find. Unmarked. Small layby with stone style over wall. I couldn't see it over the Cornish hedges! Only a couple of yards from the road. Atmospheric setting with Engine House of Ding Dong Mine in the background. Huge sone perched precariously on three stone supports

Wonderful magical place where one can feel the history & the energy.

A fairly large Neolithic burial tomb which is free to visit and located only a short walk from the road. The structure was reconstructed following a storm in the 1800s so sadly looks quite different from its original form (it originally had 4 'legs' and was taller than the current layout). Despite the reconstruction, it was still worth visiting. Parking was fine when we visited in November, although there are no designated parking spots. There are a couple of small lay-bys near the site which offer space for a car or two each. We were fortunate to be able to park in the lay-by closest to the site and only had to climb the stone stile and walk the short distance through the field to access the site. The stones used to create the stile are quite tall so could be challenging for those with mobility difficulties. There is no wheelchair access into the field. We visited shortly after a period of rainfall and found the field to be quite boggy in places so would advise visiting in drier weather if possible.

Easy to see and park at especially off season. Quite a spectacular moorland location with views towards Ding Dong mine and across to the Men an Tol. Worth a brief stop while touring

Customers have enjoyed the value box meal, which is generously filled with meat and chips. Rami himself is described as a welcoming presence, ensuring patrons feel nurtured by his splendid cuisine. Overall, it's a highly recommended spot for those seeking satisfying takeout options in the area.
I have just had my mixed meat and chips. We stopped in Penzance on the way back to the campsite and I bought kebabs at the randomly chosen place. I'm so happy I chose Rami's shop! Short waiting time, fresh ingredients (salad), tasty meat and chips, generous portion (ordered small but seems big), well organised and energetic staff. Five well deserved stars!

I do not recommend. I just received an order for delivery. and it was completely different than I wanted. I called and asked how to fix it. I received information that the employee decided so and did so. Please do not order online, only in person. And look at their hands.i do it order for wraps...

I can't believe I paid for a pepperoni pizza and they served me a lamb donner pizza? When I asked to get the pizza I ordered they completely ghosted me and said 'yes please' to the person in que, just because you accidentally served a pizza to the wrong person doesn't mean you get to serve me a pizza i did not order. Not only that it was absolutely disgusting, could've made an effort. Such a horrible end to my montol evening and you should be ashamed of your establishmentl.

Ordered pizzas and chips for delivery. They delivered quickly and the food was brilliant, fresh and tasty. Would definitely order again. Very helpful and polite staff.

I have seen some bad reviews but the staff is friendly and decent food had place to dine in.

So I just ordered a small mix with chips costing me £10 and when it was served I asked for salad……. Then I was told salad was an extra charge??????? All others in Penzance never charge for salad. Never again. After saying no the salad the food was average unlike some in Penzance. Please don’t bother.
Paul R — Google review
No one chooses to order from here. You’re back from a night out or similar and it’s luck of the draw as to what is available. And yet despite a very simple menu it’s amazing how utterly abysmal the food can be. We ordered two lamb Shish with salad, and a large chips. Ended up with one lamb shish with salad, one just plain lamb shish and chips that had been cooked so many times they were now brown and dry inside. Biggest waste of £22. It’s really not difficult stuff. I used to run a high end restaurant so know my way around things, and it baffles me that even reading an order is hard enough, let alone serving the frozen chips to be ‘fresh’ Don’t waste your time, get a supermarket pizza instead

I love Italian food so when I visit an area I look for just that. Quick Google search and found this nice tucked away place. It's literally right on the main road but you may miss it if your eyes aren't peeled. Staff was friendly, food was satisfying and restaurant overall felt cozy. Value for money!

Highly recommended the best food I have had in a long time, Incredibly friendly team with outstanding service. Seafood linguini was 10/10. Great find :)

We've been coming here on and off for 19 years, always nice to return to. Seems they have a more sophisticated menu now. Nice to explore the Italian kitchen beyond the usual suspects. Had a wonderful Newlyn Stew. Even Better if: Suggestion would be to train the staff away from 'you guys' to address of customers. Would take the service a notch up, away from Pizza Express 😉

Me and my husband visited on our 10th wedding anniversary. We hadn't booked as it was a last minute decision. We are so glad we chose this restaurant. The service was excellent, food delicious, and a faultless experience over all. We would recommend anyone to try here. When we come back in the future, we will be sure to pop in, we are unfortunately not local! We had started eating before I took a pics, oops!

Super friendly staff, great food, priced reasonably. Great for tapas small bites and sharing or for a trad 3 course meal. Good selection of seafood across all courses. Pizzas are superb, authentic choice of toppings on a great crisp base.

Stopped by for Saturday evening - they fitted us in with no booking. Traditional Italian menu with some nice specials. We had the seafood pasta, blue cheese chicken + shared the seafood pizza (!). Really generous portions, tasty + well seasoned food. Bonus points for extra parmesan! Friendly + personable service.

Very welcoming restaurant with a patio which is dog friendly. Food was absolutely delicious and authentic. We even got the family recipe from the owner of a dish that I was having. 5 stars.

The Old Lifeboat House Bistro in Penzance offers a classic dining experience with a focus on local seafood and steak, as well as a kids' menu. Housed in an old lifeboat station overlooking the harbor, this quaint bistro is known for its delicious steaks and fish pie. The menu features an array of seafood dishes including locally harvested scallops, prawns, and mussels, along with other options like cottage pie. With mains priced under 20.
Love that the Waterside Meadery has now moved to The Old Lifeboat House to keep the tradition alive! Fantastic fish fries and chips washed down with a Meor overlooking the harbour. Perfect 😀

Went for my Birthday lunch while I was in Cornwall. Staff were super helpful and lovely. Told them it was my birthday and they brought a nice cake with lit candle and they sang which was very beautiful. They served nice ribs and chip, generous portions. Beautiful views
Rufaro M — Google review
A newly opened cafe/restaurant since the old business sadly had to close at The Waterside Meadery. I used to always go there and have their ‘chicken in the rough’ so we went to the Old Lifeboat House to have this again. The service and food was good. Menu is reasonably priced. The atmosphere isn’t quite the same as the meadery but nothing would beat that! The Old Lifeboat House is a lovely, small cafe/restaurant and very popular. I hear their cakes are amazing too!

On a drizzly Monday (that persistent rain that soaks you right through), we took a little trip to Penzance. After a pretty damp wander around, it became clear that some lunchtime was definitely in order for the smallest member of our team. When we reached out to ask if dogs were welcome, you kindly said yes, without realizing the lively bunch that was about to arrive! Before we knew it, your wonderful staff had quickly moved furniture and made us feel right at home, stepping out of the rain. They took the time to chat with the kids and help us pick the perfect meals for everyone. The food was simply delicious, with generous portions that truly satisfied. We enjoyed some incredible fish and chips—The little one even loved it! The prawn cocktail was delightful, and the ploughman's was absolutely fantastic. Honestly, I wish I could give more than 5 stars! Your kindness and excellent service really made our day—and our holiday. Thanks a million to everyone there!
Zoe C — Google review
Not far out from Newlyn on the main road is this charming cafe/tea room, in what used to be the old lifeboat station. Predictably perhaps, I elected to have a traditional cream tea there, which I have to say, was most enjoyable!
Mitch P — Google review
Good food served in a lovely location and setting. Generous portion sizes with a flexible approach of all chips or half chips, half salad. Friendly staff serving . But wait, here’s a thought : When all the pieces of the jigsaw are in place for a highly successful casual dining restaurant, why spoil it with cheap frozen cash and carry chips. Chips that soak up oil like a sponge, crispy on the outside and greasy oily inside and taste of cooking oil as a result. Come on guys you’re letting yourselves down here. Chips are a mainstay of your dishes and and they are falling very short on quality and taste. There are lots of higher quality frozen chips to be had, if that is your business model.

The Navy Inn, located just off Penzance Promenade, has been a popular pub and restaurant since 2004. It prides itself on being inclusive and welcoming to all, with wheelchair-accessible facilities and a dog-friendly policy. The traditional yet stylish interior features bare floorboards and a classic bar area alongside relaxed dining spaces. The food is highly regarded, with the pub receiving an AA rosette for its quality cuisine for ten consecutive years.
Three OAP's had a roast meal today and would thoroughly recommend going there as the food was absolutely delicious with a lovely atmosphere and the staff so friendly and helpful. I'm a coeliac and all was gluten free and was able to have yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese and shortbread biscuit with my dessert so well done to the chef and to the welcoming staff.

Unassuming little building off main road. Through the bar to a seating area. Limited menu, but they had some very good specials. The service was excellent. the on-tap products were great. Seafood was as expected fresh cooked and right out of the ocean. A very good dinner stop here.

Absolutely amazing food, we didn't have to wait very long and the staff are extremely friendly. The portion sizes are definitely worth the money! I would recommend dining at this place if you're ever in the area. Would dine here again 100%.

Fabulous pub, lovely publican and locals, takes cash and gives change, wonderful cider. Great place to stop after shopping (Coop is great actually) or on your way to other places in Cornwall.

Very nice meal indeed. Great mustard and vinegar. Very important ya know for us wiv a educated pallet..lol. Yes, I'm a critic most of the time and tbh we really enjoyed it. Hats off to the chef and the staff x

The food wasn't as described or what it looked like in previous photos from reviews. The linguine seafood dish was spaghetti instead of linguine, which is a big difference. We didn't complain as we work in restaurants/ pubs. One lager tasted very off and a mouse ran under our table which kinda topped off the experience. We didn't want to make a scene and were so hungry we ate and left. This whole terrible experience was also overpriced. Nothing much was done as an apology for the mouse other than covering the hole it ran into with tape awkwardly while we ate. Shame as it was out first visit to Penzance so not the best impression.

Lovely local pub in Penzance I went in twice as I really enjoyed the food, people and vibes there. The pub serves daily special as well with fresh seafood- recommend :)

A traditional pub with a decent choice of mainly keg beers and lagers, and a good menu and specials board for meals. The manager and server, Lana, we're helpful in our choice, getting useful info on the meals, so we enjoyed the flavour and quality
