Pub
Restaurant
The Turks Head is a historic pub in Penzance, known for its cozy atmosphere with real fires and wooden pews. The menu offers a variety of global dishes, with a focus on steak and seafood. The pub also features a smugglers' tunnel, adding to its intriguing charm. Visitors can enjoy local beers on tap and traditional fare while being led by MasterChef semi-finalist Lee Groves.
Came in for lunch - just looked good through the window. The welcome, drinks and food were excellent. Lovely hidden sun trap of a beer garden. Dogs welcome. Recommended if you are in PZ.

Such a lovely place and a fabulous meal. I was there in early June and the place was packed, thankfully I had made a reservation. I had Chicken and Wild Boar Paté for a starter and this would have been sufficient for a light lunch. It was very tasty with a lovely caramelised onion topping and served with a very tasty chutney. Following this I chose the Duo of Lamb, also excellent. 👌 My dessert of Summer Berry crumble did not disappoint either, it was obviously freshly cooked and piping hot. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming.
Jill Y — Google review
Lovely old pub full of little nooks and crannies. Much like its neighbour the Admiral the food is superb but elevated a notch or two. A great menu with superb choice and delivers on great quality and good value. The pie is a proper pie too not a casserole with a lid.
Phil W — Google review
One of the most delicious vegetarian Sunday roasts I’ve had in a long time. Atmosphere in the downstairs area was comfortable and quaint. Servers were polite and attentive. Would absolutely return here!
Meg F — Google review
Super little pub that looks very small on the front but extends inside into many levels and through to the beer garden at the rear. Very nice staff and Landlady who have this treasure of a pub looking amazing throughout. Parking is limited outside, but this is a beautiful grade listed pub and is definitely worth a visit if in the area. It was refurbished to a very high standard 2 years ago but very in keeping with this traditional very old pub... ( One of the oldest in the area ) Lots of seating throughout Including a private dining area down stairs. 😎

We had the best meal here In Penzance, Beetroot burger was the best I have ever tasted & hubby had lamb that he said was delicious.
Wendi S — Google review
A lovely little pub in the heart of Penzance! I popped in today and had the Sunday roast, which was everything I was hoping for. Food was delicious and service was really friendly.
Jessica D — Google review
Any rating less than 5 stars would be an insult for this absolutely gorgeous pub! I had a divine chicken schnitzel served to me within minutes of my order - something that can make anyone suspicious ( the obvious question raised is do they prepare dishes in batches? Am I going to eat something that was cooked hours ago?) but very glad to find out my concerns were in vain! The pub in itself is beautiful as well and the staff members are very friendly and helpful. I really can't recommend this place enough!

The Admiral Benbow is a historic pub in Penzance, known for its snug and nautical-themed space. It offers elevated pub fare, including seafood dishes. The town of Penzance has a lot to offer, from top-notch restaurants to the iconic Jubilee Pool and historic Chapel Street with independent shops and quirky pubs like the Turks Head and the famous Admiral Benbow, which was featured in the opening scene of Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson.
Admiral Benbow is a treasure chest of charm. Friendly crew, cozy vibes, and food so good you’ll feel like you’ve struck gold. Their signature dishes sail straight to your heart, cool atmosphere, warm service, and a hearty meal awaits!

If you are going to this lovely place, ask for Wild Cornish Mussels. The most delicious mussels ever! I had mussels before, but this ones are scrumptious! Everyone enjoyed their food, complimenting the taste. The atmosphere, staff, decorations, everything is top class! This is a place to return!
Julia N — Google review
Incredible pub. Full of character. The food is superb, having eaten here twice in a week it’s consistently good. The service is great and the staff are nice. Great selection of beers too. The back of the pub is modelled on the interior of a ship complete with ships wheel
Phil W — Google review
Pizza Friday for us at the Admiral Benbow. We had a perfectly crispy crusted pizza with what they call the piggly wiggly toppings. Add in a Greek Salad and a couple of pints and it all amounted to a great place to escape from the worst of the rain.
Steve C — Google review
Historic pub with lots of ship artefacts inside, low ceilings and interesting separate rooms. Food is pretty good but a little on the expensive side as it is a tourist place. Didn't seem to be enough staff and they were very busy trying to keep up.
Dave D — Google review
So quirky! Such an enjoyable atmosphere. The staff were welcoming and helpful with menu suggestions. A very good selection of beer.
Michael H — Google review
Looked forward to visiting for the fish and chips, which is expensive at £20, but we thought it would be worth it for the experience. We walked out before ordering anything because we got a cold reception from the establishment. The host ignored us initially instead of acknowledging our presence to let us know she’d be with us shortly. When she was finally ready she greeted us from over her shoulder. She explained the food would take a while which was fine by us as we walked in without a booking, but they didn’t do anything to make us feel welcome (for example, asking if we would like a drink or bringing us a menu). We had to ask for a menu from the bar ourselves. The corner we sat in didn’t smell great and as we didn’t feel welcome anyway, decided we would spend our money elsewhere. Not a fan of giving bad reviews as I believe most businesses are trying their best. But it seemed this place didn’t try at all and was actively discouraging us to spend money there. Probably an amazing place if you catch them on the right day.

The fish and chips were delicious, as was the salad. Moomaid of Zenor ice cream for dessert!

The restaurant boasts one of the best patios in town, making it an excellent choice for al-fresco dining on summer evenings. With a menu featuring full English breakfasts, vegan options, light lunches, hearty mains like lemon sole fillets and beef stroganoff, as well as classic burgers, there's something to satisfy every palate.
A super valentines evening. Restaurant was decorated in theme with a lovely menu and valentine drinks options too. Delicious food and great service. Thanks for a super evening!

So we visited out of season and mid week so wasn't difficult to get a Table, the Waiter did say it's always advised to book and the place isn't massive so I'd probably advise the same, as for the menu there's a pretty good mixture of Fish meat and veggie dishes, with a Specials bord to boot with Fresh local fish, so obviously I ordered a Burger 😅, food came out very fast small portion of skin on fries and the burger well cheese bacon veggies. It was Nice and well cooked but a little uninspired, There was no flare or style. Followed it with a chocolate almond Sponge.... Ummm yeah was the same tasted ok just not memorable. All n all the food is pleasant the waiter was brilliant didn't really have a atmosphere.
Tom — Google review
Excellent place to eat! Warm atmosphere and service. I had one the sea food bisque, which was a special. It was very tasty with fresh fish. Well worth a visit.
Amit G — Google review
Avoid this restaurant. I ordered a fish n chip and a burger takeaway over phone being 1hr 30 mins earlier as a treat to a long journey home. Its really a rip off as it costs 24 pounds for a simple fish n chips and 18 pounds burger which doesnt come with fish. Pictures really justify the quality of the food. I mentioned specifically food had to be ready at 1:45pm as we have a train to catch. The receptionist reassured me the food will be on time as they have around 90 mins to get the food ready. And there we were, arrived at 1:40pm to get the food. When paying, I asked to waive the extra portion of chips. They said they couldnt as they've made it which made completely sense. However, it was around 1355 that finally the food was ready. Being pannicking, the manager was really helpful by saying "You will be fine, still get plenty of time." I ran to the train station as fast as I could and was glad I did as the train took off 5 mins earlier. Anyway, just a personal horrify experience. The restaurant seemed nice. But for the food I had gotten, I would completely recommend 45 Queen street and The Cornish Barn which are not far away. 200% nicer and they certainly don’t have a rude manager with really poor attitude which basically put you off to any appetite you have. By the way, this is my first and ever 1 star to any restaurant. I always give my 5.
JOANNA L — Google review
We booked a table to eat at the restaurant yesterday. I am a seafood lover and hoped by the reviews that I read about the restaurant to be impressed. Because I wanted a selection of seafood I ordered the Langoustines and shrimp dish. The Langoustines were serve with brocolli and a lemon and dill dressing but unfortunately it lacked seasoning. The shrimps with garlic, ginger and Asian salad was better but again not seasoned enough. The peppermint tea that I ordered leaked all over the table and the waitress almost burned herself because the handle of the teapot fell of. The service was good, waiting staff was friendly and polite. The atmosphere in the restaurant was really nice with some good music.

5/5 Overall 5/5 for service: welcoming and friendly. Let us order some drinks and check on the menu while we wait. 5/5 for food: great combinations for meat and vegetables, on the dishes. Great decorations to. Coffee was not bad. Highly recommend the cod. 4/5 for ambience and cleanness. But the organisation here can be improved. The bar and the back kitchen’s position might be the reason why staffs getting too busy. Good restaurant.
Peter G — Google review
Food is very delicious. However portions are quite small for the price.
Rebecca S — Google review
The food was good and well prepared, but the service felt rushed. We had to wait to order, then the bill was brought before we’d even finished our drinks, making us feel pushed to leave. A disappointing experience despite the quality of the food.

Seafood restaurant
Mackerel Sky Seafood Bar is a modern seasonal bistro located in a historic pub dating back to 1717. Chef Ben Tunnicliffe has transformed the venue into a cozy locals' inn offering some of the best seafood in the country. The menu features an array of fish and shellfish, showcasing the freshest catch from Newlyn's fishermen based on seasonal availability.
Exquisite in every way! An absolutely delicious restaurant. Every dish we tried was made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, prepared with a level of care that you can taste in every bite. The food was simply outstanding — full of flavor and beautifully presented. The service was also impeccable: attentive, friendly, and always with a smile. You can tell they truly enjoy what they do, and it shows in the entire experience. A place I’ll definitely return to and one I wholeheartedly recommend. A true culinary gem!
Tatiana F — Google review
Excellent value for money with a great variety of fresh seafood on offer. Visited on a Bank Holiday Monday, there was a small queue outside, but the wait wasn’t too long. The food was delicious and served in reasonable portions. The John Dory was outstanding, with an unbeatable garlic butter. Will definitely be returning.
Martin C — Google review
Fantastic food, local fish and seafood doesn't get any better! Really friendly staff and service. Queues outside as the place is so popular but they were still able to seat us very quickly and our food was brought out to us really quickly and was lovely fresh and hot. The deep fried squid was super tasty, monkfish burger, crab salad and local hake with capers and samphire. Highly recommend everything including the elderflower cider!
Peter D — Google review
The food was amazing! They have two places to dine in and if you arrive at the peak you have to wait for a while. We waited for ten or fifteen minutes and took a inside dining bar. The service was very good, with a lady recommended some today’s specials ( the mussels were really nice and freshly cooked)
Yuuer — Google review
A lovely chill seafood restaurant with amazingly friendly staffs. The atmosphere is good, though a bit crowded. Scallops tastes amazing with dedicated texture and harmonious sauce. The only drawback is the lobster, which was a bit over-cooked and the texture goes firmer that I expected
Michael J — Google review
Mackerel Sky Seafood Bar is well worth a visit. We arrived at 2.30pm to take a look and were greeted on the kerb by the waitress who showed us to the table outside on the pavement and put a heater on ( we preferred pavement as we have an unpredictable puppy ) The portion sizes are small as it's a taster menu so select several. We had crispy Squid, grilled Monkfish and grilled Mackerel, all were cooked to perfection, the best lunch we have had in years. The service is definitely 5 star as well as the food. Yes, it's pricey as others have said however you can't get fresher fish than being next to the harbour, straight from the boat to the kitchen. You can't book a table just turn up, we went on a week day afternoon in October. Honestly well worth trying.
A L — Google review
Fantastic little place - you cant book a table and it operates via a queue system outside (this works best if you're in a couple as likely to get seated sooner than in a large group) however we didnt wait long at all. Food was delicious and fresh (the hake was like butter and melted in your mouth) staff are friendly and service was very efficient. It was full when we got there and I can understand why its so popular. All the food was cooked perfectly. There is also a carpark nearby (basically across the road), which we discovered was free from Mon-Sun after 4pm til 9pm - perfect for an evening meal. Highly recommend.
A G — Google review
Absolutely fantastic experience and worth every penny. We went on a Sunday and it was busy but they were still able to find us a very good seat. All staff were friendly and relaxed and knew a lot about the menu. The food was incredible, so fresh and the flavours were perfect. We had one of the specials, the smoked mackerel pate, the John Dory and the crab salad and we loved it. Would highly recommend it if you have the budget. It's worth the treat if you like local seafood.

The Boatshed is a charming weatherboarded restaurant and bar located near the harbor in Penzance. Housed in an eighteenth-century building, it offers a cozy wooden interior and a lively atmosphere. The menu features locally caught seafood, succulent steaks, wood-fired pizza, and Mediterranean-style sharer plates. Guests rave about the sea bass and commend the attentive staff. Despite its small seating capacity, the restaurant accommodated a larger group comfortably.
We went to Penzance for our anniversary celebration and while returning back from our Cornwall tour we were looking for a place that offers good pasta for kids and a quick Google search showed up the boatshed suggestion. We were just going in for our daughter to have pasta but after going in we felt the difference instantly. The staff were polite and knew their stuff perfectly. We ordered cheese pasta with Salad and apple juice for our daughter and she loved it. The staff also offered some drawing papers and colors to keep our little one busy. For us we ordered a nice Mediterrane pizza which was really nice and served on a hot pan. We also ordered soup of the week which was tomato soup. It was okay. Overall we had a fun dinner with really good food at a good price. Kudos to staff as well. I would recommend if you visit Penzance then it's a must visit restaurant, it is close to the station.
Amit B — Google review
The Boatshed is a clean and decent place to eat in Penzance. The grilled fish was very successful and tasty, which I really appreciated. However, the calamari we ordered as a starter was unfortunately very salty and fell below our expectations. I believe the service could be improved; the staff could have been more attentive and prompt. Overall, it's a spot where you can get a clean meal in the town, but there is room for improvement in some of the dishes and the service.
Burak — Google review
Food was good and the menu had plenty of fish and seafood dishes which conviced us to try the place. However, the quantity of the fish portion was small for the price and the service was slow. Staff was friendly but seemed overwhelmed hence the long waiting time to order or get food.
Roxana P — Google review
The Boatshed was recommended to us by friends who live locally, oh My goodness we were glad we took their advice. Late lunch there on a Thursday was fabulous. Certainly not the most picturesque spot but the food more than made up for that. Lovely friendly and efficient service; delicious food; pleasant relaxed atmosphere. We will certainly go back if we are visiting the area again.
Issie J — Google review
Great service Sienna and Zelah were so helpful and even though we came in at 2035 pm made us feel welcome. The food is amazing and great value my compliments to the chef. warm welcome. I highly recommend the boat shed

A really delightful place to visit. I was there on a Sunday evening in June and thankfully I had the foresight to book a table. They were incredibly busy and rightly so because the service, the food, and the ambience were all worth a 5* rating. I had the Piri Piri chicken which was excellent and the Apple Betty dessert which was superb and I would highly recommend it.
Jill Y — Google review
This was our first stop in Penzance, and on first glimpse, it looks nice, but going to the toilet upstairs and seeing things a bit closer up shows it's in much need of a makeover and repairs. It's very dated and tiered and looks grubby. Broken tiles and toilet seats and old taps generally look like they're stuck in the 90s sorry to say. The staff were lovely and the menu was good except we ordered a ham and pineapple pizza and it came out on two bits Ciabatta and the chef didn't tell the staff and just assumed that was acceptable when it wasn't. We also ordered a sausage for our dog, and that was forgotten also and had to wait for that. He did eat it all when it arrived so that's ok you got his approval. The staff were very apologetic and took the pizza off the bill but if I hadn't have said anything, as the staff thought I had ordered it to come as it did, may have been charged pizza price, its not that cheap in there either but what we did have was actually good and plentiful. *It would have been better to tell the waiting staff that pizza wasn't available and give us the option of choosing something else, but hopefully, this will help the communication to be more open between staff and customers in the future. I know restaurants in Penzance are more seasonal, but I do think they need to spend money on the decor and interior as I doubt we'd go back again, which is a shame but there's better places to experience in Penzance and surrounding areas.

Mermaid Alley is a charming and quirky family-run eatery located in Penzance, offering a fusion of Mauritian heritage and coastal vibes. The restaurant boasts a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, serving up tempting cocktails and delectable fusion food.
I would drive 7 hours back from Cambridge to go here again! The food was insane, the people were so friendly and it's such a cute place. The curry loaded fries are an absolute MUST. We went for lunch so could only choose from the tapas but it did not disappoint. I'm also more restricted with not being able to have gluten but they had quite a number of GF options and good lord they were amazing. 100% would go again.

Mocktails delicious! Servers were nice and happy to have a conversation. Food was delicious as always! This is the second time coming here and I would always come back and recommend it to anyone in the area. They change their menu regularly which always keeps it interesting! For anyone wondering what the dish is below it is a taco thali

We found this absolute gem where they looked after us from the moment we walked in the door. Amazing food and the cocktails are incredible. Lovely atmosphere and they were really great with our daughter. Very fair prices too. Thanks guys 🖤

Genuinely our favourite place we ate at on out trip to Cornwall A very cosy and warm restaurant with happy and helpful staff and cool decor. The food was genuinely some of the best food me and my partner has had. And the cocktails were brilliant. Highly recommend getting food here.
Damian H — Google review
I would not recommend it as they are most likely selling the re-heat supermarket food. They charged the fried shrimp which i think they bought it from tesco at nearly £10. And the noodle is instant noodles but they charged at around £18.

Great little place for an evening meal. The staff were friendly and saw to us quickly. There is quite a small menu but what they have tastes amazing! We had the pulled pork and jalapeño scotch egg as well as the philly cheese steak taquito for starters and the california fish and chips and pork belly with mac and triple cheese for mains all of which tasted amazing. They also have a good range of cocktails and everything is really well priced! Would definitely go back again!
Sam K — Google review
If we were grading this place just on food it’s a 10/10 easily. A great hidden gem stashed down an alley way in Penzance than we almost missed but am so glad we found. The menu was great and it was hard to decide what to have with so many different and interesting dishes to choose from. Both of the dishes we had were incredible, full of flavour and looked great. The tandoori fish was a great twist on fish and chips and the curry gravy it was served with almost got drank! The beef brisket tacos were some of the best we’ve ever had, unbelievable flavours. However what let the overall experience down was the rudeness, immaturity and unprofessionalism of the two young girls working on the downstairs bar. They spent the whole evening side eyeing, making comments and laughing about guests and playing on their phones. It’s such a shame about their attitudes as everything else about the restaurant is fantastic and shouldn’t impact the incredible food.
Jamie W — Google review
A great find, I must say I didn't regret my choice going here despite the range of other highly rated restaurants near by. The menu balances dirty tasty comfort food with a fresh, high quality finesse in flavour and presentation. The milkshake was beautiful and the maple bacon fries were amazing. The hardest part was choosing what to order. I would return here just to try the other menu items. The service is friendly, personal and quick. Please give this place a try!

The Navy Inn, located just off Penzance Promenade, has been a popular pub and restaurant since 2004. It prides itself on being inclusive and welcoming to all, with wheelchair-accessible facilities and a dog-friendly policy. The traditional yet stylish interior features bare floorboards and a classic bar area alongside relaxed dining spaces. The food is highly regarded, with the pub receiving an AA rosette for its quality cuisine for ten consecutive years.
Three OAP's had a roast meal today and would thoroughly recommend going there as the food was absolutely delicious with a lovely atmosphere and the staff so friendly and helpful. I'm a coeliac and all was gluten free and was able to have yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese and shortbread biscuit with my dessert so well done to the chef and to the welcoming staff.

Unassuming little building off main road. Through the bar to a seating area. Limited menu, but they had some very good specials. The service was excellent. the on-tap products were great. Seafood was as expected fresh cooked and right out of the ocean. A very good dinner stop here.

Very nice meal indeed. Great mustard and vinegar. Very important ya know for us wiv a educated pallet..lol. Yes, I'm a critic most of the time and tbh we really enjoyed it. Hats off to the chef and the staff x

The food wasn't as described or what it looked like in previous photos from reviews. The linguine seafood dish was spaghetti instead of linguine, which is a big difference. We didn't complain as we work in restaurants/ pubs. One lager tasted very off and a mouse ran under our table which kinda topped off the experience. We didn't want to make a scene and were so hungry we ate and left. This whole terrible experience was also overpriced. Nothing much was done as an apology for the mouse other than covering the hole it ran into with tape awkwardly while we ate. Shame as it was out first visit to Penzance so not the best impression.

A traditional pub with a decent choice of mainly keg beers and lagers, and a good menu and specials board for meals. The manager and server, Lana, we're helpful in our choice, getting useful info on the meals, so we enjoyed the flavour and quality

A realy warm and welcoming local pub . Great beer , realy nice Staff and the food is far superior to your normal pub grub . The stack burger is something else .

No cask on which was disappointing and stale environment inside. I know the pub isn't responsible for it's patrons but pretty intimidating and loud people in the beer garden smoking weed. Overall bad experience, won't be coming back

We just tried the Sunday roast takeaway, wow, what a plateful! Lovely tender meat (beef and gammon tried!) great selection of vegetables, gravy, Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes! Highly recommended, if you live in Penzance (we're only half a mile away!) or a bit further away, superb quality Sunday lunch for a reasonable price. Lovely helpful staff, food loaded into our car all cling fim covered and in plastic transport trays... Just a perfect lunch solution!

Nice pub but did run out of beer which is not a good and a Guinness was terrible. One of the worst pints I had for ages not normally like that so something must've went wrong

Small, friendly, very welcoming pub, great atmosphere, great service and amazing food. The wife thought she'd have something light and went for the fish and chips, it came out and it was a whale and the portion and half of chips, OMG, she managed it all, I had the rump steak (rare) and it was cooked to perfection, one of the best meals we have eaten out in a long time.

This is in appearance a locals pub. Very old, somewhat quirky! Where these days do you find a cider pub? Other drinks also available but mainly keg, lager, probably not the greatest option on wines, cash only, sign in for covid regulations. Cider was great.

They don't serve food. They do have an excellent pool table, a duke box on the wall and good vibes. There was a reggae/soul DJ playing last I went. Was a lovely evening.

We went to this pub on a recommendation from another landlord, I was a bit dubious at first and not really feeling comfortable. But the landlord, Shane, soon changed that. He was really friendly and welcoming, he put money in the jukebox and even bought a drink for us. We had a great night out. Don't be put off by first impressions.

We popped in for a quick drink mid afternoon and ended up having a good long doggie chat with the owner - very pleasant - what a nice woman. These days you don’t get much of a welcome in pubs etc - a nice change. Will be back.

Disappointing Experience I recently visited this pub and had an extremely unpleasant experience. Not only did I witness discriminatory behavior towards a person with disabilities, but I also observed a hostile atmosphere that left me deeply uncomfortable. The staff’s response to the discrimination was disappointing, to say the least. Instead of addressing the issue with empathy and professionalism, they reacted defensively and even threatened to ban me for speaking out against injustice. Furthermore, it’s disheartening to note that this isn’t an isolated incident. The pub seems to have a recurring problem with judgmental behavior and discrimination. Homophobic actions and an unwelcoming attitude towards those whose “faces don’t fit” are prevalent here. As someone who values inclusivity and positivity, I cannot recommend this establishment. Regrettably, I don’t believe they will change to a more positive attitude. I believe in standing up for what’s right, and I hope this review serves as a reminder for the pub’s management to reevaluate their policies and foster a more accepting environment.

Interesting place. General atmosphere great. Unfortunately the bar person (trying to be PC) drink red wine thought the night. All fine until he decided he needs to charge a round when we ordered one drink. If the bar staff a drink while serving then it down hill. Love the pub love atmosphere byt you can'tdrynks behind the bar is something I'd rather avoid yoy choice. Unfortunately for the barperson I do don't drink. Shame hee severed me.

The Farmers Arms is a great local pub in Penzance and perfect for a drink after exploring the town. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, with plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the views. It's also family-friendly with lots of activities on offer for children. Watch out for small bowls of roast potatoes on the bar - they're free but go quickly!
Paid a visit to the Arms on the Spinning disk preservation society night (Sundays). Made for a good experience and I highly recommend it. Bit of a spit and sawdust pub but nice to see they still exist.

Quirky and cosy (open log fire in winter) small pub and music venue serving supremely well-kept real ales. The pub is in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide and is also a member of Timothy Taylor's Brewery Champion Club.

A small 'proper job' pub that concentrates on good beer with a friendly atmosphere in the tradition of the local, with no frills or expensive menu. There is regular live music that caters for most tastes. Situated at the top of Causeway Head, there's a decent Chinese take away two doors up, a restaurant next door, a car park across the road within a few minutes to other pubs, cinema and food places.

Live music bar
The Studio Bar is a small but amazing live music bar in Penzance that is always packed with locals and tourists alike. The atmosphere is incredibly friendly and the music is always stellar, with diepangle being a must-watch band.
The most awesome place in Penzance, if not all Cornwall. So hip, cool and freaky it hurts. Easy-going mix of people, great live music, mental crazy environment. The kind of place you discover and don't want others to know about because it'll spoil the place. Love it!
Nik L — Google review
Great sound system and acoustic wall insulation in the tiny bar area put in by the owner who was a professional sound technician, so loud bands can be heard clearly with no distortion. Very popular with locals and seems to have a little scene. Don’t bring your kids or grandmother though :-)
Colin H — Google review
On the plus side, this is a great live music venue which is open later than most bars in the area, however if you didn't know where it was you may miss it. It's a little run down, and quite small and the range of drinks is minimal. Saying that, all this adds to the atmosphere of a live, local music venue.

Located in Newlyn, The Tolcarne Inn is a historic pub and restaurant that takes full advantage of its proximity to one of the UK's largest fishing ports. Chef Ben Tunnicliffe curates a first-class menu that changes according to the fresh catch from Mounts Bay. The pub exudes a laid-back, local atmosphere both indoors and in its outdoor dining area. With a chalkboard menu reflecting seasonal ingredients sourced locally, this inviting spot is perfect for seafood enthusiasts.
If you love fish this is for you. Right next to Newlyn Harbour and fish market, this 300 year old inn doesn’t get any closer to fresh fish than you can get. The food is elegantly presented, using seasonal ingredients that perfectly complement the star of the show: the fish. The mackerel and horseradish starter was beautiful! The cod main was sensational and (if you have room) try and squeeze in the bread and butter pud. You know you want it. The service was attentive, informal and friendly. If I had one improvement, a little ambient music wouldn’t have gone amiss.
Tim B — Google review
This fantastic seafood restaurant was recommended by the owner of our bed and breakfast, and we decided to give it a try for lunch — purely by chance. What a lucky decision! Specializing in seafood, this place far exceeded our expectations and even outshone the well-known (and more expensive) seafood restaurant nearby. We ordered the sardines and the turbot, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The sardines were a standout — incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. They were juicy and tender, with just the right touch of seasoning to let the freshness shine through. The turbot, served with mussels, was equally impressive. The fish was sweet and delicate, and the mussels added an extra layer of rich seafood taste that made the dish unforgettable. Both dishes clearly showcased the quality and freshness of the ingredients. The portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable, offering great value for such high-quality seafood. We’re so glad we took a chance on this place — it’s a real hidden gem. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Lovely pub and restaurant - top notch fish, and starters - seen some reviews that service is not friendly - definitely when we have been there it was great. Fantastic friendly service, tasty food served hot and quickly but not rushed. The staff really do make the restaurant, so attentive and really welcoming. Went looking for halal eatery in Penzance harbour Cornwall, and found Little India, we were pleasantly surprised it was halal and also non alcoholic establishment. We ordered the chicken tika chaat puri and mix chicken and kebab grill. The food was really delicious and we were absolutely gobsmacked at how delicious it was for a restaurant in Cornwall to serve such food. The chicken tikka chaat puri was something I never ever had tasted before. It contained tikka chicken, chickpeas and surprisingly cooked cucumber and spices. It was mouth watering and very delicious. The portions was quite large and at £5.99. It was truely worth it and couldnt believe the price. The staff were attentive and friendly. It was very busy for a Monday evening and after tasting the food I can understand why. I highly recommend it and as a south asian that is saying alot. My only regret is that we found Little India on our very last evening here in Cornwall.

We visited Little India in Penzance while on holiday as a group of 24, and it turned out to be one of the best dining experiences of our trip! The food was delicious – especially the lamb biryani, which was full of flavour and cooked to perfection. Prices were a tad on the higher side, but honestly, it felt worth every penny for the quality and experience. What really stood out for us, though, was the exceptional customer service. On our first visit, Adil & Angel provided great service, which made us want to return the next day. But on our second visit, we were looked after by Angel, and she absolutely went above and beyond. She was polite, always had a warm smile, and made us feel truly welcome. Angel didn’t just make our evening – she genuinely became a highlight of our holiday. It’s people like her who make travel even more enjoyable. Overall, Little India offered not only tasty food but also an atmosphere that felt personal and special, thanks to their wonderful staff. Highly recommended if you’re in the area – and if you’re lucky enough to be served by Angel, you’re in for a real treat!

It was my first time in Penzance and I fancied an Indian. I got a butter chicken and was truly mortified at the colour and taste. I tried so hard to ignore the nasty aftertaste but 1/5 for the execution. The peshwari naan + pilau rice were much better. The customer service in store was amazing, it’s a shame the food didn’t live up to it.
FEE M — Google review
Fantastic service and great tasting food. We loved the popadoms and the chutneys that came with it. The curry’s were both seasoned to perfection and the lamb in my jalfrezi was tender. The Naga Chicken Tikka had a South Indian twist with coconut making it both sweet and spicy. It was delicious and came in the perfect portion size to enjoy the flavours without it becoming too much or too sickly. Absolutely loved it. If you’re looking for a good Indian place Little India is worth visiting. Also as a Muslim.. HALAL! HALAL FOOD FINALLYYYYYY

What a lovely, traditional pub. Such an attractive building, inside and out, and we received a really warm welcome. It was a lovely surprise to find they had a tapas menu and all the dishes were amazing. They also allowed us to park our motorhome in their car park, which was very kind.

We stayed in one of the pods. For the first two nights we had an uncomfortable bed but when we told the management they changed the bed and from then on the stay was wonderful. The pod has a fridge which was a bonus. It was clean and had a great shower. The location was great as we were midway between Lands End and Newquay. Also had the pub food which was simple but good. Overall enjoyed our stay at The Pirate Inn and if we are ever in England again would definitely stay there. Highly recommend the pods.
Audrey M — Google review
Rooms above the pub are extremely basic ( we stayed in room 1) The bathroom door does not closed properly. The shower is extremely rudimentary and has very little water pressure. There is a dusty airing cupboard that is rammed with towels but it would not lock. Above the bed is a cupboard with all electric circuits for the pub, kitchen and rooms. I don’t think it should be in a bedroom. The condition of the room and furniture is outdated and tired The carpet does not look the best. The landing is messy and the access unappealing. Our room was directly above the pub and on the first night it got a bit noisy until midnight. It seems that the excellent ratings are for some pods outside the pub, but they are stand alone near the beer garden and brand new. The pub, surprisingly, does not provide breakfast and although our room had a tiny fridge and coffee and tea facilities, there is virtually no room to be able to have anything beyond a cuppa. The only saving grace is that the staff were lovely and the pub is quite charming. We did not eat in there as the menu is nothing exceptional ( some menus on previous reviews must be ancient as the one provided has nothing to do with them)

Showed up here later than expected, they kept the kitchen open for us and made a fantastic meal. Stayed in the cottages on the outside that are new and very cozy. Staff were all very helpful and kind, if in this area would definitely stay here again.

Amazing stay in a little cabin. Clean, functional, cozy. They thought of everything. The shower was so luxurious. Couldn’t believe the value. Especially loved eating at our own table in the private garden right outside the cabin. An easy 15 minute walk to town. Hugely recommend.
Cayla B — Google review
Unfortunately the food is not good here. I had the pasta bolognese and the pasta looked like it had been sat out on the side all day or had been microwaved, it was all stuck together and didn’t taste good and the bolognese didn’t have much flavour. The person I was with had chicken strips, and they were mediocre at best.
Rainbow 7 — Google review
Great stay at The Pirate Inn. We stayed in one if the wooden pods. Very clean, great size and well equipped with tea, coffee, biscuits, milk, toiletries. Little fridge also provided which was a bonus. The double bed wasn't the comfiest and the shower kept going hot and cold but otherwise a great place to stay. Roughly 15 minutes walk from Penzance centre - easy walk. Pub staff were friendly, large beer garden and good selection of drinks. Food was reasonably priced for what was served - good standard pub food.
Emma S — Google review
Sad to leave this review as we used to like coming here. You always got reasonably priced food but still good quality. The last two times we’ve been it’s gone downhill. We came today for dinner for my daughter’s 13th birthday and the food was terrible. The chicken burger was horrendous and the lasagna was like a microwave meal. The kebab shops in town do better quality food! Such a shame as a friendly pub and the staff have always been friendly and welcoming and it’s a good place for a game of darts, with a nice beer garden for the kids to play in.

Stopped by this spoons for food. Food was fine, normal spoons food... Food turned up after double the time the wait was on the app, although my partner's food came out within minutes (even before his drink turned up), and he ordered after myself and my four other family members. Went up to the bar to find out where the rest of the food was, and the staff were not helpful one bit. The first thing he said was, "Would you like a refund?" he did then radio to the kitchen, of which we got the response of "It will be ready when it's ready," which was entirely helpful. The shift lead was the only one that was any help at all, who came over to us and asked if we had had our food yet, as he had noticed that we had ordered yet not eaten. I know its a spoons but even for spoons its poor service .

One day they have a decent service and the next day is the worst thing you can expect. Everything was fine one day and the next day they didn't want to serve us. The table was dirty, they were racist and rude, worst costumer service ever. Pub
Nestled in the heart of Penzance, The Star Inn is a charming traditional pub that has stood the test of time, welcoming both locals and visitors for years. With its commitment to preserving a classic pub atmosphere, it offers patrons a delightful selection of hearty, old-fashioned pub fare at prices that won't break the bank. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it an ideal spot for after-work drinks or casual gatherings with friends.
If you're looking for the old school warm, friendly pub experience you'll find it here. Whether you want a quiet afternoon pint after work or a fun weekend night out this is the place to go. Great selection of spirits, ales, lager and non alcoholic drinks. Brilliant deals on offer too. 2 pool tables and a dart board to keep you entertained plus fun games like twister and monopoly too. I come here mainly to see the 2 gorgeous pub dogs Joey and Duke for cuddles. Always something fun going on aswell from open mic to Cornish music to live DJs. So plenty of variety. The staff aren't too bad either ❤️

Not a great beer selection, rather run of the mill choices and not one true 'Premium' beer/lager available, unless you count Amstel or Guinness Staff are pleasant but not over friendly, NO disabled toilets...not that I could see. Very nice decor and a genuine old pub feel. Free WiFi, no car park. Presumably they show live sports? Worth a visit.

If we could give them 10 stars for their Sunday Roast, we would! 7 veg, plus Yorkie pud, gravy and amazing cracking. You can choose the meat you have. All for an Amazing price!! Thank you Star Inn Team! >> Looking for a Roast - look no further! <<

Very nice and comfortable place to stay and visit Cornwall as it's very close to the train station and to the bus station, also very clean, provides with soap, fresh towels, tea facilities in the room, modern and clean bathroom and it is quite silent, so one can rest with no problems.

Opened the door to see a notice saying no dogs allowed. Walked in to find a huge dog in front of me. Walked back out. I've given you 5 stars as you don't deserve to have your rating affected by this. However, I feel that a pub that doesn't allow dogs should have no dogs in it.

Called in for a drink. Had a Tribute - very cloudy and bitter taste. Think the taps might need cleaning. Very big pub, not many people inside though when I visited.

Been to this Pub a few times. Once with my late Parents for a few drinks, once for a send off for a good friend, once when I played a gig there and more recently when playing with the Golowan Band this year where the pub hosted us and laid food on for us. Each time I have been welcomed and treated well. The food that was put on for Mazey Day was amazing. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Great Pub!

Cafe
Mounts Bay Pasty Company is a charming spot in Penzance, offering a variety of homemade Cornish pasties for dine-in or takeaway. The menu features small, medium, and large pasties, with the option to pair them with a complimentary cookie or donut. Visitors can also enjoy coffee alongside their pasty selection. Despite the presence of more upscale pasty shops in the area, Mounts Bay Pasty Company stands out for its local and authentic vibe.
Lovely cafe on Market Jew Street just up from the harbour. Originally popped in looking for a Cornish Pasty but then got distracted by breakfast Options were for Small, Large, and Extra Large. I stuck in the middle instead of choosing the breakfast to match my burgeoning waist line For £8.75 I was treated to a plate filled with “2 Bacon, 2 Sausage, 2 eggs, 2 hash brown, 2 toast, mushrooms, beans” tomatoes was an option Alternatively my partner in dine had a more simple plate of Bacon (x3) and Eggs (x2) for just £6.15. I let them have some of my toast, a bit of sausage and a hash brown 😎 Very decent breakfast, sausage was excellent, a proper butcher effort. Bacon was cheap but crisped well. Eggs cooked properly although yolks a little pale, generous portion of mushrooms, well prepared beans both standard plate fillers as expected. Hash browns cheap but crispy, toast a little pale but as used for plate moppage was perfectly acceptable for the job in hand Definitely would come here again, cheap enough, very friendly and popular amongst the locals which is always a good sign

No frills. Just a really good value pasty, which was packed full of excellent steak - perfect pastry. Take away, and go down and eat by the harbour.

Absolutely outstanding pasties. We are a family of pasty connosours 😁 For over 35 years we have been visiting Cornwall, staying in Hayle and therefore we are big fans of the famous Philps Bakery. Today we visited Mounts Bay Pasty Company in Penzance. We were welcomed by two really friendly ladies, one who had not long returned from maternity leave (sorry didn't catch your name) We purchased two standards, a steak and stilton, a lamb and mint and a sausage roll. These came with free doughnuts and cookies! I have to say, these are outstanding and I have to say, they even beat Philps! The pasty was so tasty and buttery but not too flaky. Really fairly priced and so delicious I don't know which I liked the best. We will almost certainly be back!

Stumbled across this cafe whilst on holiday. Popular with locals and tourists alike. Welcome friendly service and I ordered a sandwich that was not on the menu and they were more than able to accommodate. I thoroughly enjoyed my sandwich, my other half had a latte and said it was ok but lacked coffee taste. This said, I really enjoyed the food and service at a very good price. Thank you.

Additionally, visitors can explore Polgoon Vineyard and Cider Orchard, where former fish merchants produce sparkling and still wine available for tours and tastings from April to October. Wonderful small pub in Penzance. We came here multiple times on our trip from Canada, and especially enjoyed the trivia night. We were also lucky enough to meet the pub cat, Lemonade. Draught cider was the best I've found in my three weeks in the UK.

With a constantly rotating lineup, patrons can always discover something new to savor.
I really liked the place. Landlord was friendly and the beer selection was varied, well kept and fairly priced. A bit of an oasis in a town dominated by tied houses. I'm not a 'local' but my partner and I felt welcome and enjoyed the experience.

Absolutely brilliant pub- lovely landlord and fantastic beers! A must if you’re staying in or near Penzance.
Julie A — Google review
Four of us went into the pub just before 9pm after a fantastic meal at the Barbican Bistro. The landlord made it clear we were not welcome - no acknowledgement of us coming in and a sarcastic comment about not having toilets, when we said it was quiet he said only us tourists would go out at that time, locals have to get up for work. There was only one draught ale and from his attitude we decided to have three halves, a good job as three halves and a medium white wine cost £17. Such a shame that his attitude ruined a nice little pub. There are plenty of good real ale pubs nearby, in future we will use them. We are two couples in our sixties.

We visited the Lamp & Whistle when we were in Penzance ahead of a trip to the Scilly Isles. There's a great selection of craft beers and other drinks. The landlord and locals were friendly and gave us some valuable advice about the next day's choppy sailing to St. Mary's! He also recommended a great gallery to visit on St. Agnes. The pub itself is a visual feast. I'm just sad I don't live closer to call the Lamp & Whistle my local because it's a gem of a pub. Thanks, Miguel; we loved your place.

The landlord has a brilliant eye for interior design and has created a truly unique pub. It’s very clean and the beer is exceptional.Friendly people, some local some tourists. Since moving to St. Buryan I like to travel to the lamp and whistle in the car for 20mins for a couple. 5 stars, a must visit.
Laurie P — Google review
Staying at the longboat just across te way, the Lamp & Whistle caught my attention. Craft ales a plenty! Read the reviews about being made to feel unwelcome, but thought I'd see for myself. Being a Sunday night at 9pm, it was very quiet and almost time to shut up shop. So a lone tourist walking in for a quick pint was possibly asking for it? The owner greeted me with the phrase ' you look like you just came off the tennis court' which to be fair i did... It was lovely and warm when I left Yorkshire at midday! Ordered a pint and stood at the bar and talked football for a good 30 mins. Owner was clearing down and asked if I would like another to which I declined. Not for any other reason than I didn't want to keep him open when he could close early. Seemed like a nice fella, I made the effort to get to know him and he humoured me for a while. Nice place, beer was spot on if not a tad pricey but then he said he did work in London so has presumably applied the same pricing structure haha! I will be back but hopefully not on a sleepy Sunday evening!

The First & Last Inn is a charming 17th-century pub offering classic pub fare and local ales. It features an exposed smugglers' tunnel, a cozy interior with unusual features like goldfish in the well, and a comfortable beer garden. Located just a 10-minute walk from Lands End Camping and Glamping, it's known as the last place to get a beer before reaching Land's End. The spacious outdoor area at the back provides plenty of seating and parking.
We stopped off here after going to lands end, for some refreshment and warmth. The pub is a good size and the decor was authentic, I loved the old brick work in the snug we sat in. It has a Pool table, that was a great resource while we waited for our food. The staff were nice and friendly and our dogs were welcome. We ordered a variety of things as a group of nine. All the dishes were very tasty and my favourite was the garlic bread it really was a good portion and very buttery. The chicken wings were also very nice. There is plenty of parking and seating outside. I would definitely recommend this place although I can imagine in the tourist season it gets very busy.

We visited the first and last inn whilst visiting Lands End. There was plenty of parking and it was quiet, even though the sun was shining. There is a small park for children to play in with 3 benches to sit and watch the children playing. Plenty of seating inside. Dogs are welcome. The bar staff member that served us was very friendly. Prices were a little bit more pricey, but as there isn't much around you expect that. Very calm and peaceful. I will visit again when I visit lands end again. Food was okay, i had the fish and i didnt much enjoy it. The chips and onion rings were good though.

However, you have to 'pay as you go' as not allowed a tab The hubby joked about not trusting us & the barmaid said they didn't trust anyone! Play area for kids, but as returning to the car, there was a strong smell of weed

We visited twice — once just for drinks and another time for food. On our first visit there were plenty of tables available, and on the second it was much busier, but we still managed to find a seat. Ordering at the bar was straightforward and service was quick and efficient. The pub has some handy plug sockets (great for charging my phone), a children’s play area outside, and it’s dog friendly. There’s also free WiFi, clean toilets, and a large free car park which makes it very convenient. Food was on the pricier side for me, but the quality more than justified the cost — everything we had was well-prepared and tasty. Overall, a welcoming pub with good facilities and great food.

The latest owners have done an incredible job with the place. Definitely worth another visit if you haven't been back recently. I came down to visit family after moving away from the area a few years ago. I had previously assumed that the pub would eventually end up being repurposed into a house or something similar. This time the pub had a very accommodating, warm and friendly atmosphere. The pub was comfortably filled with people and felt like a rising success story.

A joyful but very relaxed surprise! We were hunting out dinner options and came across this one. We actually thought we were lost, it appears to only be a library looking bar from the front, upon entering We informed we were hoping to eat some dinner as well as a few drinks and were shown to the back room. The place in both areas was nice, warm, modern but approachably- it had a lovely mix of old world study aesthetics with modern bold minimalist touches. I loved it! As for the staff, very kind and gentle- very allergy conscious and answered questions. I will say the Smokers area was quite roucousy from time to time but not too terrible. The food was delightful! Granted there were a couple things I'd not have again, I think that's due to personal taste. Everything was presented so nicely and I had a good buzz and full belly going. Was a lovely time!

Authentic corn tortillas are used with the tacos blended with other ingredients that are hard to come by here in the isles. 💯 authentic, 💯 worth the price.

Superb sushi experience. Very freshly prepared and full of flavour on all dishes., tried a good selection. A superb experience all around. Nice setting with ambient music playing low in the background. The winner for us today was its dog friendly so we could eat in (my daughter loves sushi so we was going to get take out if we couldn’t mind) The cocktails was slightly on the strong side (is that actually a bad thing tho) according to the boss, but the IPA I had was more than acceptable. We also had a glass of orange wine each (something new as never seen it before) which was quite good, quite a moorish, dry which went down more like a red imo. A massive selection of wines and craft ales in cans to select from. Thank you :)

FRESH!!! Amazing tacos, just like being back in California. Authentic corn tortilla and proper Mexican ingredients. Must try the fish. Perfect holiday treat!

A stylish contemporary dine out, serving exceptionally tasty sushi. Ok…the wait was long to get served and be served and the staff are young but friendly(and learning to do their best.) Penzance needs chilled restaurants like this, offering world cuisine at sensible prices. We loved it and will visit again!

We decided to get some food at The Copper Fox after a very long and wet day of walking around St Ives and Penzance. The lady behind the bar was very upfront from the beginning, and let us know that they were sold out of a couple of their menu options, however we were happy to wait after being told it wouldn't be long until they're back on. We were happy to wait and have a couple of drinks in the meantime, and we ordered as soon as we were told the Mexican food options were available. The food we had was amazing, and they had a variety of hot sauces, which we tried pretty much every single one of. Thank you for such an amazing service, we'll hopefully be back soon!

We went here for dinner and drinks and had an amazing time ✨ The dining area is cosy and nicely decorated - we enjoyed the great selection of drinks! They had some delicious and really affordable mocktails on the menu, which I appreciate as a non-drinker - I had one with Yuzu & Pineapple and it was amazing. The sushi was divine and very beautifully arranged - my partner said it's probably the best vegan sushi he ever had! There was a large amount of vegetarian and vegan sushi options and everything we tried was delicious! Big thanks to the team for such a nice experience in our holiday 😊

This place was a recommendation from someone I know and I really looked forward to try it. Food was fantastic, price is average, atmosphere could be improved, but service was extremely bad. Not sure why but a person served our table didn’t want to take my order, instead took my order from a friend I shared a table with. Either this young person didn’t understand my accent, or for some other reasons, behaved quite arrogant and made me feel strange as I never experienced that, it was very unpleasant, so I doubt I’m going to come back any time soon or would recommend this place to anybody, it put me completely off this place, which is sad considering good quality of food.
