Spoleto is a hilltop Umbrian town known for its striking mix of Roman, medieval and Renaissance architecture, from the Roman theater and ancient city walls to the Duomo and massive Rocca Albornoziana fortress. Its historic streets, stone stairways and scenic views over the surrounding countryside give it a quiet, atmospheric charm. The city is also famous for the annual Festival dei Due Mondi, which brings international music, dance and theater performances each summer. Nearby trails and olive groves make it a good base for exploring the natural landscape of central Italy.
With favorites like Samurai, Palazzo Collicola Visual Arts, and Osteria Al Bacco Felice, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Al 3.0 Bistrot and Ristorante Apollinare so you can get the best taste of Spoleto while you’re here. Spoleto Cathedral is a beautifully restored Romanesque-era cathedral featuring a stunning 12th-century mosaic on its facade and vibrant frescoes inside. The city's historic center and surroundings, including the Cathedral, served as the backdrop for the filming of a popular TV series. Additionally, Spoleto boasts an impressive archaeological area with well-preserved Roman monuments that highlight the town's significance during the time of the empire.
I just love walking downhill to this cathedral and how it becomes bigger with every step closer. Even outside decor is to admire. Loved to sit in the shade on cold stone on a hot day in front of it. Interier is white and frescoes above the main altar are dedicated to Mary. Just sit and admire. There are different style side chapels, in one you get a glimpse of even earlier, older church, its walls still standing and some very old frescoes on them.
Rok S — Google review
The square embellished by the cathedral facade is simply mesmerizing ! The center point of Spoleto with Pinturicchio and Filippino Lippi frescoes nested in a late romanic architecture with a 15th century colonnade that add to its gravitas. Spectaculat, imposing, magnificent !
Tony B — Google review
There are two audio guides available. The first audio guide has one headphone set and is immediately visible upon the right hand side after entry into the church. The second audio guide is at the rear of the building on the left hand side and it has two headphone sets. There are multiple languages to choose from. Cost is €2 for six or so theee to five minute discussion guides on versions aspects of the church, its history and people. Highly recommend listening to the guide. A lot of information condensed into a short time frame. Of particular interest was the geopolitics and the historical involvement with the Medicis. Bring €0.50 to pay for the lights at various sections of the church. It will not accept smaller cents or €1 or €2. If you do not have €0.50, the cashier in the bookstore will gladly make you change. Here there is a letter from St Francis to St Leo which is on the left hand side of the church in an obscure corner of the back room which requires €0.50 to brighten the room. In this room is also a skull and legno painted Sybil’s and saints. Another highlight is Papa Giovanni Paolo in the right back corner which again can be more visible with the 0.50. Bookstore lacks statues of the holy family and saints, holy water, and religious relics which are available at most other churches throughout Italy. This was disappointing. I visit many churches and collect onomasticos for my family and friends. I was hoping to get the baby Michele and raffe for my cousins grandchildren at this visit. I like to think a lady can never own too many shoes, dresses or holy relics. I left this cathedral without spending the money which I normally spend in a church but I will gladly give my money to another church in the area. Definitely worth a visit. Estimated Time required: 1.30-2 hours

Beautiful Cathedral. So very interesting. The painting by Filippino Lippi, is of course stunning. It draws you in the more you look. The atmosphere is very tranquil. We went up the 147 (I think ) steps to the bell tower, it was worth the climb to see the view.
Caroline M — Google review
Like all the big churches in Italy, you will be amazed at the art work throughout the building.
Alan H — Google review
This cathedral with a square in front can be reached by going up an elevators set up, not far from a parking lot in Spoleto outskirts. Like many churches across Italy, this is a splendid Romanesque building very much worth a visit not only for prayer and worship. Inside there are magnificent works of art with various paintings, including frescoes by Pinturicchio, mosaics and more.

The Teatro Romano is a large, well-preserved Roman theater that often hosts live performances during the summer. It is accessible though the Museo Archeologico, and its hallways are the most authentic part of the theater.
Great site and museum. Still used as a theater. Temporary stage over Roman stage and lighting added.
Raimondo P — Google review
Were there twice but I suck at timing, closed. Anyway you should think wow, this is in good shape. It was reconstructed and they still use it for concert. But the final point is, that Romans build it 2000 years ago and all we did is added a little cement and as good as new 🤫
Rok S — Google review
Well preserved Roman theatre. A testimony to the ancient Roman character of Spoleto. It was closed when I was there but actually it didn't seem like anything special considering we are in Italy and these things are everywhere. There is limited pay parking on the street nearby. It's a good location to start exploring the city. Parking was 1.50 euro per hour. No car access from 00:00 to 11:00.
Jason C — Google review
Over half of it was rebuilt with modern cement, which is tragic for a 2000 years old construction. Not just that, but when we went there for the visit, there was a 'modern' band making unrecognizable very, very loud noises and we couldn't visit the little that was left untouched by the modern homo sapiens of this century.
Ciro V — Google review
The teatro is nice, the museum was just ok, but only 4 euro so not bad.
Ryan M — Google review
Nice experience. A tranquil place to admire, with its halls as the most authentic part of the theater.
Tomislav V — Google review
One of the gems of Spoleto well worth a visit. The theatre is an excellent example of Roman architecture. The climb up to the centre is quite steep but I would recommend using the escalators which can be found at the back of the town centre near the public parking lot. Be sure to visit the cathedral and the bridge for some exceptional views of the valley below.

Association Rocca Albornoziana

National museum
Association Rocca Albornoziana is a medieval fortress in Umbria that offers stunning panoramic views of the city. The fortress also houses a modest museum with sculptures and frescoes. Adjacent to the fortress is the Ponte delle Torri, a 13th-century aqueduct connecting Colle Sant'Elia to Monteluco.
Long time ago used to be a roman fort here but was destroyed twice after fall of Rome in the early middle age. Now a fort with amazing view on Spoleto and a very good museum inside that takes you from roman times to renaissance. A must see. If you happen to visit during weekend (we didnt) you can also climb on tower for even better view.

Spoleto is a great city, they make the tourist sites so accessible by providing escalator and moving walkways. We parked at the lower city parking garage and took the escalator to the major sites, then to the base of the Rocca, enjoying not only the interesting courtyards and frescoes, but the Roman aqueduct and the impressive sweeping views of the valley and the town.
Zongle — Google review
Beautiful place and views. Never expected to find these amazing building. Love it. Thankful for the electric stairs. Each corner is a new surprise.
Ana — Google review
Wonderful place to explore. Rich in history. Much about Pope's summer home and a favorite place of Michelangelo. Long walk up if you don't see where the escalator is.
Dave R — Google review
Beautiful fortress on top of Spoleto to visit. You can come to it by the walking escalators and elevator from the train station. The part I like is the ring road around the fortress. You get a panoramic view of the old city below and the view of the valley on the other side. Before the earthquake a few years ago, you could walk along the Roman aquiduct near the fortress. The Italians love to take strolls and chat along the ring road.
SeFok C — Google review
Outstanding collection contained within the impressive fortress. Great vistas over Spoleto and the surrounding region. Highlights of the collection include works by such masters as Nicolo di Liberatore -l’Alunno, Maestro di Cesi along with the spectacular late-14th century fresco cycles depicting scenes of courtly love and knightly adventures in the Camera Pinta and the Sala d’Onore.

Ponte delle Torri is a remarkable arched bridge that was built in the 14th century, spanning a steep ravine between two fortresses. This 230-meter-long aqueduct connects Colle Sant'Elia to Monteluco and offers stunning views of Spoleto. The area also features ancient Roman monuments such as the Arch of Drusus and Germanicus, the Roman Temple, and the Ponte Sanguinario.
One of the highest roman aquaduct, over 80m, with bridge next to it, but closed for renovations. Still impresive work od roman construction.

What a beautiful place to walk during the day or night! There is a little bar/ Cafe not far from the entrance to the Rocca. The café has a great view to the valley. Also.. there are escalators and also the underground people mover if you want to save yourself some steps uphill.

Beautiful view. The bridge is amazing and ancient, about 80mt high with two towers on the side. This is also called the " Bridge of suicides". Unfortunately is closed after the sismic movements of the last years and you cannot cross it. Nevertheless absolutely worth a visit.
Luca — Google review
Pretty bridge and surroundings. Leave after the top escalator and walk around the mountain to get her most easily.
Pim B — Google review
Ponte delle torri is a very strong robust structure which withstood all the tests of time. Right from the times of Romans. And you can see that it is still looking as strong and as valid today as it must have been then. Although it is not in use but it is fully functional even today.
Mukesh D — Google review
the bridge is closed so can't across to the other part. Is it nice ? yes it is but we don't go there just to have the possibility to take a photo which we can find in the Internet , we need more, However it still deserve a visit.

Spoleto, and it's old aqueduct, is really worth a visit. It's very easy to get around and, especially during a sunny winter's day, the view on the surrounding mountains and the valley is amazing. Right now (December 2018) the aqueduct, which is also a bridge, cannot be crossed.

San Gregorio Maggiore is a fascinating blend of classic and contemporary art in Spoleto, Italy. The town boasts an extraordinary mix of old and new, with important works of art from renowned artists exhibited throughout the area. Notable sculptures from the 20th century can still be seen today, including pieces by Alexander Calder, Lynn Chadwick, Pietro Consagra, Nino Franchina, Leoncillo Leonardi, Beverly Pepper, and Arnaldo Pomodoro.
The oldest church in Spoleto, probably most worth exploring. There is an older one outside of town under UNESCO heritage. Lovely frescoes and fascinating raw stone construction.

I think this is one of the most beautiful churches in Spoleto. I’m not much for the baroque style of churches but prefer this one, which is more gothic or Romanesque. It is simple, very old, yet spectacular. Especially down in the crypt. Don’t miss this church when in Spoleto. A must see.

Al 3.0 Bistrot is a charming dining spot located in the heart of Spoleto, offering a unique and delightful experience. The bistro boasts a cozy and quirky interior with both indoor and outdoor seating options, providing an intimate atmosphere for diners. Guests can enjoy a wide selection of wines, craft beers, and champagnes carefully curated by the owner, Valentina.
Stopped by/climbing to city centre for a wine & dine. Quiet night and chef & staff accommodated my tomato allergy with custom cooking cheese & oil added mushroom and basil to my pasta, I hope they try it themselves ;) thank you for the excellent dinner and service. Also has wine for retail sale, accessible restrooms.

Truly a special little restaurant. I'm a food and wine guide in Rome but love to come to these small towns to have a little variance in my diet. The food here is cooked with love and care. Fresh herbs decorate the cooking space and you can see the family team making the food in their little kitchen. It feels like being in someone's home. It was a cold night but the restaurant was cozy, just a few tables, and everyone that came in seemed to be known by the family owners. Beautifully decorated and lovely staff. The food was very, very good.
Stephanie W — Google review
Honestly, one of the best dining experiences of my life. The restaurant had a small quirky interior, the friendliest staff ever and food that was out of this world... We ended up with a table on a mezzanine, almost like our own private dining room overlooking the rest of the venue! It was also a bargain considering how great the food was. A high point was when one of the customers, obviously a friend of the proprietors, started playing the piano beautifully. Would go back again in a shot. Amazing. They also offered us complimentary amaro at the end and lovely meaningful chats.

It was a holiday and they were very busy, so maybe it was just an off-day, but for us the food was disappointing. Tagliere was overwhelmingly meat heavy with no preserves, olives, fruits, or other sides, and no description of the meats or cheese was provided by the waiter. The strangozzi con porcini were undercooked and while the flavor was good, there were almost no mushrooms in it. Service was also super slow, but again, it was a holiday and the server was still very nice. Maybe you’ll have a better experience!

Amazing little bistro which as soon as you enter feels like you're in a different world. Many different beers, wines and champagnes to taste. Apollinare offers stylishly plated, contemporary Umbrian tasting menus in a cozy space with timber-beamed ceilings. The restaurant is located in a former convent with rough stone walls and wooden beams, creating a wonderfully intimate and comfortable dining atmosphere. The menu features homemade pastas done well, along with creatively twisted dishes like the outstanding caramella antipasto filled with melted cacciatina cheese, Parmesan, and truffle.
Spectacular service (and food!) An absolute must try in Spoleto if you’re into “finer” dining. The food is representative of the local Umbrian cuisine with a bit of a twist, and the staff are very knowledgeable and very professional.

4.4/5 (5/5 food; 3/5 service; 5/5 atmosphere). Was attracted to this place thanks to the michelin guide. We came for dinner with my wife. Whilst it started off quite awkwardly, it did get better thanks to the food. We came in twice into the restaurant - first we thiught maybe it was closed, nobody was there, no staff or people. So we walked around came back and still no one there but it was already 8pm. We walked all the way in the kitchen, where we met the chef! Who then said someone body would meet us till finally staff came and mentioned that we should have gone through the other way...anway not a great start. We opted to sit inside where aircon was on as it was super hot, and so did a few other guests later on. We ordered and absolutely the food was great. Good ingredients, including the amuse bouche. Each plate was certainly carefully thought through and presented, including the desert. The wine list was extensive and including a good variety. Although again service was awkward - i asked for the difference between 2 bottles (the years were very different) the waiter mentioned she would call the sommelier, who then came and blurted out just the 2 years. No explanation - just said the 2 years as if those were the only ones available. As we already had an awkward encounter i just picked one. I could hear then inside the kitchen, the waiter yelling at the sommelier saying that I wanted an explanation...anyway the wine was delicious. Waiting time is extremely long. We came in at 8 and left at 11pm (2 appetizers 2 mains and 2 deserts), but prices were very fair Atmosphere was good! The inside was well decorated, beautiful interiore and included an beautiful patio in case people wanted to stay outside. Despite awkward service we had a great night!

The restaurant is beautifully decorated, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The food? Simply amazing! Every dish is presented with such care—it’s a feast for the eyes as much as the palate. Located near the ancient theatre, Ristorante Bar Canasta is a charming old cafe and restaurant offering authentic espresso and traditional cuisine. This is a great simple neighborhood restaurant! Don’t expect too much English here, but do expect a big smile and wonderfully Italian meal! We came here because of their focus on seafood. I asked for a dessert, there was nothing visible in the bar except for chocolates so the owner offered a 'tiramisu'. Great I accepted but got nothing of the sort. I was unfortunately served whipped cream from a spray can with milk chocolate powder on top. The owner couldn't care less.

Bosco Sacro di Monteluco is a serene and enchanting forest located atop the Italian mountain of Monteluco. It is easily accessible by foot or car, offering a brief walk through ancient churches and ruins before reaching the summit. The sacred wood consists of intact secular ilex trees that have been protected since Roman times. Visitors are captivated by the breathtaking scenery and unspoiled nature, as well as the panoramic views overlooking Spoleto and its surrounding valleys.
I was truly enchanted by the breathtaking forest atop the Italian mountain. The serene atmosphere, rich biodiversity, and sweeping vistas left me in awe. Exploring the well-maintained trails while surrounded by the beauty of nature was an unforgettable experience. The mix of pine and deciduous trees created a captivating tapestry of colors. If you're a nature enthusiast, this mountain forest is an absolute must-visit.

(Translated by Google) Drink traveler! In the same Piazza Campello there is the fountain (17th-18th century) which is one of the most characteristic of the city and is called by the people of Spoleto simply “Il Mascherone”, because of the imposing mask with the features of a man and a feline, crowned with laurel, from whose mouth comes out the strong jet of water that then pours into the basins placed on three different levels. It represents, perhaps, a pagan deity and an inscription informs of a restoration carried out in 1736 on the aedicule that frames the basin and the mask, which are instead from the seventeenth century. Dating back to 1600, it bears an inscription dedicated to Pope Clement XII. On the right there is another small fountain that bears the inscription BIBE VIATOR, an invitation to quench one's thirst at its very fresh waters addressed to the traveler. (Original) Bevi viaggiatore!

Casa Romana in Spoleto is currently showcasing the installation of Pauline and her Double, featuring two works by Vettor Pisani. The artist's unconventional approach to art in the 1970s was influenced by myth, magic, and religious beliefs. His interest in Greek and Roman history is evident in his creations. The Roman House itself dates back to the early imperial age and features frescoes, mosaics, and masonry from the first century AD.

Ristorante La Barcaccia is a charming and cozy family-run restaurant located in a quiet cul-de-sac, offering a warm and hospitable atmosphere. The decor adds to the overall appeal of the place. However, it's the food that steals the show here, redefining Italian pasta with its exceptional flavors. Situated just off Piazza Mercato, this simple yet excellent Umbrian eatery boasts friendly service and a short but impressive wine selection at reasonable prices.
La Barcaccia is a very beautiful and comfortable restaurant, from the moment you see the restaurants immediate location in a quiet cul-de-sac you start to understand the experience you will have. This is a local family run restaurant that delivers a great experience with the staff being very welcoming and hospitable, before seeing the lovely decor. However the food is the only thing that upstages both of these elements, with my taste buds being re-educated in what great Italian pasta is. This region is famous for truffles and this was had with a pasta so fresh and springy that was well enjoyed. The dishes had were washed back with some locally produced wine from the region, before experiencing a flan local to the area that had a solid yet wobbly form that was so light in texture with a subtle and sweet taste. After finishing the courses I was beyond satisfied feeling happy and comfortable, refuelled and ready to continue my adventure around the beautiful Spoleto.

Al Bacco, another cliché of Italian service. Squeezing a lemon in the hope that the patrons mistake it for honey! The outside tables are set on a pleasant “sidewalk”. There are insufficient waitrons who spin like hamsters and achieve as much! Non of them speak English and their impatience with the diners is made unpleasantly obvious despite the many English speaking diners at the Osteria. One waitron, in particular, would have been more comfortable tending to his sty than the diners on the sidewalk. He would not have been out of place on the set of Deliverance! I digress, the extensive menu has a great selection of pasta and meats. The lamb scottodito was well accompanied by a portion of cicoria. Sadly, no franciacorta available despite it featuring boldly on the wine list. General feeling of the whole place barely keeping it together, on all fronts.

Horrible service. They wouldnt sit us because we didnt have reservations. So, I went outside, made a reservation online and went back in and told them I had reservations. They sat us but were clearly annoyed. This is even though the restaurant was never more than 2/3 full. Service was extremely slow, they brought things out at different times, etc. Further, food was average, at best. Not very tasty. Major disappointment.

We stopped off for a coffee and a pastry, 2 hours later and a beautiful lunch, we had to go back to the hotel for a sleep. We walked in to have a quick cup of coffee, must have seen around 15 locals coming in and buying pasta (Nona's, not the blocks !). We asked a question about their pasta, homemade off course, well we decided to sample it. WOW, their menu, pasta and flavours of their sauces, were simply divine! A MUST DO for lunch or dinner. The Owners son was a gentlemen to my elderly Mum and Dad, a big thanks for the memory

Osteria Al Bacco Felice has an excellent location, few meters from Spoleto's Cathedral square, and a pleasant setting, even though it can be noisy when full, as happened on both my visits! The restaurant has a very large menu of mostly local and traditional food, with a fair level of cuisine and reasonably priced. Service is friendly even if sometimes a bit confusing for the large number of tables. Not a sophisticated restaurant but a good choice for a decent, fairly priced meal in a very central position!

Located behind San Pietro church, it is accessed by its own little uphill dirt track. Super pizzas and lamb skewers we had were also very good. Service was friendly and happy, with limomcello on the house after meal. Good vibe. Menu (and our server) spoke in English, which was very helpful for us anglo-phones.

We wanted to avoid the complications of parking and ztl zones in Spoleto so we drove here instead. Great for a fuss-free dinner, and mostly locals seem to come around. I can't quite figure out what the location is, as I've seen signs for "reception" and the menus have English descriptions. Hefty-sized pizzas and about five pages worth of choices. The roasted meat skewer tended a little on the dry side but still tasty. The lovely waitress gave us some grappa and limoncello after dinner as part of the meal. Basically a good place to go if you're looking for good wood fired pizza at relatively good prices. Beware the Google directions to this place though, as it brings you to the Chiesa San Pietro (mind which has an excellent view of Spoleto fortress at night), but the pizza place is on a back road behind the church, which you can see if you're on a satellite view and kind of follow it by eye rather than map. Parking spaces are limited.

Located in a medieval building, Il Tempio Del Gusto offers innovative Umbrian cuisine and boasts an extensive wine cellar. The trattoria is highly recommended for its traditional Umbrian dishes such as spaghetti carbonara, saffron risotto, and roasted duck. Visitors can also enjoy a plate of cured meats, pecorino cheese, toasted breads, and a variety of olive oils - a must-try when visiting Spoleto.
What an absolutely wonderful little restaurant. We opted for the outside tables on the small patio out back. Kind of wish we had selected inside instead since the small areas inside are so intimate and cool looking. Either way, it is the food we were here for and it did not disappoint in any way. I hate to admit, that since this was a long lunch to celebrate our friend’s anniversary, I forgot to take a photo of the menu and now can not find the receipt to know exactly what we had or what the photos are all of. The one pasta with the small egg yoke in the middle is a pasta carbonara, and it was amazing. As you stir the pasta the egg cooks, giving a unique freshness. Of course the red tomato pasta is a traditional pasta, but the flavor was outstanding. Appetizers were a savory cannoli that just burst with flavor. The most unique item was a cheese stuffed squash blossom. Everything that passed our lips was unique and bursting with flavors. Servings are not American huge, instead they are Italian tasteful. Plenty to eat and still feel good. The restaurant also has an excellent wine cellar with local selections. We had a bottle of local white that was perfect for the meal and not too expensive at all. This is a perfect special occasion restaurant and not to be missed when visiting Spoleto.

Walked in for lunch without reservations, had the Umbrian Chefs multi course lunch full of local flavors, well prepared dishes and excellent service-even one dish served by the Chef-and of course wine 🍷. Thanks to the team for a great experience! Ladies, note the shelved table at the end of the dining table, is for your purse!

Art Museums
Palazzo Collicola Visual Arts is a hub for exhibitions, installations, workshops, and meetings that aim to create connections between six different venues in Spoleto. The venue hosts various exhibitions including solo shows by Flavio Favelli and Gabriele Donati, a group exhibition featuring emerging contemporary artists, and an exhibition dedicated to paintings on stone, copper, and glass surfaces.
An excellent museum where one can see contemporary art as well as more classical art. You can also just sit (or lie down) on the first floor and just read your book while sitting among art work. A must for any art lover.

Nice permanent collection of 20th century art organized be decades. When I visited this week they had a marvelous William Kentridge exhibition, and carefully placed in rooms with Renaissance paintings was really amazing

Outstanding collection of postwar art in the exhibition spaces of the Museo Caradente. The building itself is an architectural masterpiece and is complemented by a visit to the galleries on the Piano Nobile. Here, the historical rooms provide a beautiful backdrop to the artworks ranging from the Renaissance until today. A very satisfying museum.

Modern art museum inside 18th century palace. A permanent collection gives an overview of modernism in Italy with a focus on the important place of Spoleto and its competitive art exhibitions during the 1960s. A highlight is the room dedicated to the 1962 "Sculture in the City" experimental public art exhibition in Spoleto. Temporary exhibitiona are installed in the original 18th century noble apartments that still have their wall treatments, some furnishings, and paintings from the 17th to the 19th centuries.

The Fondazione Festival dei Due Mondi, also known as the Festival of Two Worlds, originated in 1962 with an exhibition of sculptures by renowned artists such as Alexander Calder and Beverly Pepper. Although most of these artworks are now housed at the National Gallery in Washington D.C., some can still be found adorning the streets and squares of Spoleto. The festival itself is a celebration of Italian culture, turning the historic city into a vibrant stage for music and art every summer.

(Translated by Google) I stayed 11 evening for the closing of the festival. It was supposed to be held at 8.30pm. And the organizer for the European match has moved the time to 6.30pm. Ruining the atmosphere that a work has from a certain time onwards with lights and backgrounds that could not be seen. Considering that many people did not sit down due to the scorching heat beating on their heads. It absolutely didn't need to be moved. Art is art and appointments are the same. Those who wanted to go to see the football match preferred it to the opera. Tastes. Whoever chose the work because he knows about it and certainly doesn't confuse violins with balloons. I hope, dear director, that you will continue your goals but you will not change your habits if they are the right ones. “Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.”MLK (Original) Sono stata 11 sera per la chiusura del festival. Gusti.

Teatro Caio Melisso is a key venue for the musical program that explores the connection between different cultures and languages. The program features performances by two orchestras, the Budapest Festival Orchestra with conductor Ivan Fischer and the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia with Antonio Pappano. Soprano and conductor Barbara Hannigan will be featured in three concerts, showcasing her versatility and mastery.
In November of 2023, I traveled from Rome by train to Spoleto to this venue to see The Stick Men perform as part of a Spoleto Jazz series, although The Stick Men are more in the style of King Crimson than they are jazz. The sound in this theater is a amazing. I had an alcove booth all to myself on a rainy night. Had to walk in pea size hail to get there from my hotel as a thunderstorm was happening. The staff were kind and gracious, showing me to my seat. This is a beautiful building. I only wished I could have stayed longer in Spoleto.

Small theatre next to the Duomo. Came in July when the temperatures are high during the day and cool at night. Inside, past the double doors, they run AC. It is not cold or cool but it is comfortable when many bodies are squeezed into a small space. After a few hours, it is no longer comfortable with the heat but it is tolerable. We sat in the balcony seats, which wrap around the main stage. There are four chairs to the balcony seating plus one stool. We were a group of three who had two additional people join our booth. They liked to spray large quantities of overpowering, dark flowery perfume on themselves within this 3x5 space. I do not know if you can choose to have the booth alone with your party without any additional strange people who want to toilet themselves in public. If I were to return, I would attempt to decipher this before hand. Since the venue is small, there are no bad seats. Ceiling fresco of Apollo with the muses is gorgeous. Bathrooms (two stalls for women) are on the left after entry through the double doors. Food, lodging and church all within walking distance. Great place to visit and a lovely venue minus the multiple groups per booth issue. Update: Went to a second show and sat in the main floor. This area is much cooler.

MANTR - Museo Archeologico Nazionale e Teatro Romano di Spoleto is located in the historic area of Spoleto, housed within the old convent of Saint Agatha. The main highlight is the Roman amphitheater, but there are also four levels of exhibition space that offer insights into the historic center, theater, funeral rites, and faith. The museum and theater are open daily from 8:30 am to 7:30 pm.
Beautiful and interesting museum. We really enjoyed the fantastic archaeological finds, displayed in beautiful, spacious rooms. The museum exudes an enormous serenity and tranquility. Compliments! Thank you for having us. However, if I may, I would like to mention a possible improvement point: the texts on your information boards next to the finds are way too long and as a result practically illegible. Please, keep it short, so that they would be attractive and accessible to everyone!

Two things really stood out, evidence of early pre Christian and even pre Roman religion. Second was the amazing Roman amphitheater especially the tunnels under the seating.
Sellwood D — Google review
Strong collection of contemporary metal sculptures. Temporary exhibitions include all the posters from the Spoleto annual arts festival, a brilliant show by Kentridge and a pretty dull survey of 20th century Italian art movements.
Paul M — Google review
A small museum in the historic center of Spoleto, very much worth the visit. The Roman theatre is of course the highlight, but the 4 floors of exhibition space provide a wealth of information about the city's history, the theatre, burial rituals, and religion. Most signs are written in Italian & English. We read (almost) all of them, they were so interesting.
Robyn P — Google review

A small museum with a real Roman amphitheater. Only €4 to get in and worth the stop if you are in town. The whole town has all kinds of old Roman artifacts and the museum is a good addition to it. The only downside is that most of the information in the museum is in Italian only. Not many English visitors coming here.

San Ponziano in Spoleto is a must-visit with its significant monuments including the Duomo, Basilica of San Salvatore, and several ancient churches. The area is known for Romanesque-style structures like San Ponziano, offering inspiration for floral designers. This church is worth a stop, featuring an entrance to the crypt at the bottom left inside.
Great.

We wanted to visit the Basilica of San Salvatore a few metres away, but it's currently closed for restoration. Luckily we decided to check this out, and it was open. The main church interior is a very average 18th century stuccoed church, but underneath is a beautiful crypt with medieval and renaissance frescoes. Also don't miss the magnificent 15th century crucifix to the left of the main altar.
Alexander G — Google review
A good point of departure for our visit to Vallo di Nera and Spoleto. Absolute rest in the monastery, a modernized hotel with the historic structure intact. We enjoyed breakfasts as a first family gathering and enjoying the good, friendly service and cake! Quiet, a spiritual treat and history screaming at us. We enjoyed the good trip advise at the gates from the man who would only admit to being one who helped the nuns, but seemed to read from some universal library of knowledge Clean, good value for money. If you come at night, beware of the small sign on the right hand side of the road, as your navigation system likely will send you to the abbey further up in the hills. A call to the front desk will always sort things out. A treasure of a place. If you need TV in the room, this is not the place. For everyone else, this is it.

Such a shame! We only wanted an apertivo before dinner and waited 25 min to place our order and 30 min to get two drinks, a prosecco and a spritz. The reason for giving this low rating is because the waitress knew we had been waiting too long and still cleaned 2 tables and served local people that she knew. She did apologise, but 30 minutes for a prosecco and almost being late to our reservation was really unnecessary.

The restaurant's staff may need some time to prepare during peak hours, but the food is worth the wait. Visitors have praised the antipasti plate as well as the local wine selection.
We had a very limited time so I just ordered two desserts take away, pistachio cake and almond apple cake, both gluten free! They were so so delicious that I now regret not ordering more food/desserts. Their menu had great gluten free options, i highly recommend this place to all celiacs.

We ordered a takeaway from here because my mother was unable to navigate the steeps steps and slopes of Spoleto, so we were very relieved to find a place that did both gluten free and deliveries! We enjoyed the GF tortelloni, the entrecote with chips, and GF pinsa (which to me was like a cross between a pizza and a foccacia - either way, it was delicious). Impressed with the delivery person having to bring the food to us on foot.

We dined here after reading the good comments. A place on the terrace, at 7 p.m. we were the first to arrive ( crowds get coming in from about 7.30 p.m.) and the crew was not really ready yet. We chose the antipasti - plate which was more than enough, and pretty good. We ordered some Santefalco Rosso wine; yet the wine served was a Tenuto Fontecaime Rosso: mistake of the waiter. I decided to taste that one to accompany our meal: not deceived here, and glad we discovered yet another fine local wine. The kids went for burgers: real good local meat served with a good amount of salad and a crusty but tasty bread: more than plenty for most of them. We went for some pinsa's: unknown to us, and so good! Tasty, light, and deceivingly more than enough, worth every dime. Glad we chose the Silver Spuleti for that evening! By the time the burgers and pinsa's arrived as the main dish, the terrace was full, people were cueing to get a place. My advice: plan the visit early enough ( starting from 7 p.m.) to avoid waiting. And don't mind minor mistakes: even those happen to appreciate the local cuisine.

Ristorante Sabatini Il Giardino Del Corso Di Zeppadoro Benedetto is a charming and intimate dining spot that offers high-quality cuisine and exceptional service. Simply an amazing experience, incredible umbrian cuisine in a warm atmosphere of a traditional family restaurant. All the dishes were excellent and varied. It was so good we had to come back the next day again for dinner.

A beautifully appointed restaurant in Spoleto with some great regional dishes. If you’re here during asparagus season, be sure to try the pasta dishes with the asparagus. Otherwise, as this is a region known for their truffles and meat, you cannot go wrong with pasta dishes with truffle, beef carpaccio or beef tartare (though the meat likely comes from Piemonte because this is where the best meat for tartare comes from in Italy). Be sure to reserve in the garden, weather permitting. The vegetable sides are fantastic and definitely worth a shot. One thing I didn’t try but would highly recommend trying is the prosciutto as it is a local prosciutto. This is a must try when in the area. In Umbria si mangia bene - thank you to the great staff for a wonderful evening.

Well, what can we say about the fabulous food, wine and service. We were here two years ago and I am so happy to be back. The experience was just as wonderful last night as it was 2 years ago. So wonderful in fact we made another reservation for Thursday night. There are just so many things on the menu that I have to try. Ricardo, the owner and who also serves and his beautiful wife who is the chef along with their unbelievable staff are like watching a live theatre group. They move with ease and are having fun. This is a must for lunch or dinner but make a reservation and just sit and enjoy. Five stars are not enough.

Lunch walk in, greeted by a warm and cozy atmosphere. Had the daily special Prix Fix 3 Tortellini board and couple glasses of local wine. Asked to exchange the Wild Boar for the Ricotta lemony mint tortellini menu item with no problem, all mouthfuls of flavors. Excellent service. Lovely interior patio (not in use), also had an interesting child’s play and nap room.

We couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough. The service was attentive, friendly and generous — with extra focaccia (which was lovely) and mini meringues given to us whilst we waited for our seconds and dessert. We got some face time with the chef when she came out once our mains were delivered to douse the homemade sauce on my partner’s guinea fowl which added a nice personal touch. Both meats we ordered were cooked exquisitely, the guinea fowl and the lamb. We shared a tiramisu which they kindly split onto two separate plates (but of course keeping their adventurous presentation front of mind!) For our short stay near Spoleto, we have even considered coming back a second time, which is not something we usually do. Thank you again for a wonderful experience at your beautiful restaurant.

Very good dining experience. We had sliced beef in cheese and pistachio sauce, beef fillet cooked with herbs, and tiramisu. They all tasted delicious and fresh. The food plating and presentation were also pleasant. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended 👍🏻

Day 4

Off the beaten path
For day 4, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Ciclabile Ex Ferrovia Spoleto - Norcia. Not quite as popular as Association Rocca Albornoziana, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Ex Ferrovia Spoleto - Norcia offers a picturesque journey along the former Spoleto-Norcia railway line, now transformed into a gravel path that winds through spiral tunnels. This route provides an intriguing glimpse into industrial archaeology, evoking the enthusiasm of past eras and offering a charming exploration of Umbria's countryside.
Great walk on the old railway line and through a scary 1.5km tunnel. Great bat encounter, great views and lots of countryside.

We rented e-bikes from here to ride the nearby Spoleto–Norcia cycling route and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The staff were welcoming, helpful, and had the bikes ready for us in just 15 minutes, which we really appreciated. They made the whole process quick and stress-free. The rental included helmets and a repair kit, which gave us peace of mind for the journey. The bikes were very nice, in good condition and the battery easily lasted for our trip. The price was very reasonable for the quality and service provided. We wouldn’t hesitate to rent from here again and highly recommend it to anyone planning to cycle the Spoleto–Norcia trail.

Good quality lights and heavy equipment are essential for transit in the numerous dark and freezing tunnels (one is 2 km long). Possibility of bike rental on site. (Translated by Google) A very interesting route from a naturalistic point of view, it is not monotonous, it changes continuously as you progress. The dirt road surface is excellent at 60% and in places with a steeper gradient (never higher than 4.5%). The surface has less optimal points, bring appropriate clothing to travel the sections of some tunnels which are quite cold and humid. Unfortunately, once you reach Cerreto di Spoleto you are forced to travel 8 km on a state road with tunnels (illuminated) and moderate traffic, however the fairly wide road allows for a certain safety and in any case if there were road signs indicating the presence of cyclists it would undoubtedly be better. Once you reach Serravalle you take the cycle path again which in 7 km reaches Norcia.

Well preserved Roman gate

(Translated by Google) The arch stands a few steps from Piazza del Mercato, the ancient Roman forum, of which it was the triumphal entrance. The inscription still visible on the front informs that it was built on the initiative of the Spoleto senate in the year 23 AD, in honor of the princes Drusus and Germanicus, respectively son and adopted son of the emperor Tiberius. The arch has a single fornix and is composed of large squared blocks of stone, while the decorations are today very fragmentary. Starting from the Middle Ages, it was incorporated into the nearby buildings, so much so that the western pylon is still not visible today, while the eastern one has been brought to light up to the ancient laying surface, relating to the paving of the cardo maximus.

Specialty Museums
Ex Ferrovia Spoleto-Norcia Museo is a hidden gem in Umbria, showcasing the rich history of the railway. The museum is meticulously curated with well-preserved artifacts and offers a wealth of information about the railway's significance. Visitors are guided through a fascinating journey by Luigi, the passionate and knowledgeable museum manager. His dedication and love for preserving this piece of history are evident as he shares captivating stories about the railway's evolution.
(Translated by Google) I congratulate the municipality of Spoleto, Umbria Mobilità, the SSIT and the Archival Superintendence of Umbria and the person of Luigi Fasciglione who took me and my girlfriend to the museum for a visit of I think two hours, exceeding even with his lunch break. So much dedication, competence and love for what was the railway. Many artifacts recovered by him over time. The museum is a gem of knowledge and artefacts, all very well kept, thoroughly cleaned and polished. Having a passion for transport, I would like to point out that in many other museums, I have never seen so many exhibits so perfectly maintained and in working order. Standing out are a pedal and motorized vehicle for line control (draisine), various signals, maintenance tools, service telephones, poles (foils), lights, lights, flags, on-board personnel materials, railway logbooks , tickets and some clothing and more. There are maps and blow-ups, choreographies and a video room with a beautiful video edited from cleaned and digitized shots taken with 8mm. There is a room dedicated to those who built the railway including the late engineer Paolo Basler and Erwin Thomann. A lot of effort well rewarded. The museum is a dip in the heart and we are sorry for the fate of the Railway (with a capital F). The hope is that one day it will be reactivated with historic cars and that this museum will continue its work thanks to Luigi and many other enthusiasts. I recommend purchasing the text written by the Superintendency with the attached DVD projected in the designated room and a little black hat. A great way to support the museum and immerse yourself in the memory of the railway.

(Translated by Google) The guide recommended this route, providing a map and various routes to reach Norcia. Unfortunately, due to the earthquake, it's impossible to reach it by bike. It's still a wonderful experience, even for those with no cycling experience. The first 8 km are on a gravel road, slightly uphill, then you cross the bridge and go through several dark tunnels, which you absolutely must use lights to navigate. The longest tunnel is 2 km, followed by another 200 m and 300 m, then it's all downhill until you reach the village of Sant'Anatolia sul Nera. From there, you can continue along the various trails or cool off in the crystal-clear Nera River.

The first stretch, up to Sant'Anatolia di Narco, is really beautiful, enjoyable even on sultry days because it is shaded, fascinating for its viaducts and tunnels. Unfortunately in Sant'Anatolia it stops, the subsequent galleries are closed. Even the museum, housed in the former station in Spoleto, was closed and there were no opening hours outside... it's a shame, because from other reviews it seems very interesting. I hope that soon we will be able to travel the entire Spoleto-Norcia route: given the publicity that is given in every way, it is a real shame to then note that it is only open for 20 km out of 54!

I highly recommend this business! I rented a mountain bike from them. You can rent by the day or for the week. The young man who helped me chose a bike, ask for my approval, put it on a rack and gave it a complete inspection- checking the brakes, the gears, the pedals and the seat. He adjusted everything to my height, gave me a repair kit and case I got a flat, a helmet and a bike lock. Bike lock. I received all this service for only €25 (for a 12 hour day).

I had a very positive experience with this bike shop. I rented a road bike for Euro 25/day, a very reasonable price, especially since it included a helmet, lock, and forward/rear lights. The bike was high quality and performed well, and Signore Scocchetti also added toe clips to the pedals to accommodate me. The shop is located within walking distance of the Spoleto train station, and about 20 minutes walk to the escalator (scale movili) which can convey you up to the hilltop ancient city. My friend and I rode the Spoleto to Assisi bike trail and I highly recommend this route, but make SURE you have a GPS to guide you as the signage is sporadic. Don't miss stopping off in the ancient town of Foligno on the way.

(Translated by Google) The GeoLab is undergoing modernization and is not yet open continuously, but by making arrangements with the managers you can plan your visit. In this incomplete version it is however rich in educational material and the ability to entertain and amaze its visitors. The atmosphere is a mix of Superquark (the museum was designed by Piero Angela himself and the whole environment is structured in the style of the sets of the historic broadcast!) and a museum in the style of the Natural History Museum of New York (nothing to do with the sad display cases made of dusty stones, just to clarify). Inside you will also find the very talented Matteo who will literally guide you to the center of the earth! Recommended for students of all levels, but also for geology enthusiasts, Piero Angela enthusiasts and curious minds of all ages. Varied, complete and interactive in a slightly vintage style but - let's face it - all this technology and modernity everywhere is boring. They are certainly not the only way to quality, on the contrary. To visit, it is necessary to book by email by writing to the Pro Loco. Il Mio Vinaio is a restaurant that offers an amazing dining experience with friendly service and outstanding wine selection. Guests have raved about the typical Umbrian pasta, delicious tiramisu, and excellent wine served in a room filled with wine bottles, creating a special atmosphere. The food is always wonderful, and the staff is known for being friendly and providing great service.
We (me+partner) had an amazing lunch here. I almost got emotional while eating the first course, tipical spaghetti like pasta from Umbria. The service very friendly and the wine selection outstanding. Recommended

My husband and I had a wonderful lunch here in mid-March on a Sunday afternoon. Started with a bottle of Montefalco rosso, and shared a plate of the strongozzi con pistacchio (perfect al dente, creamy sauce, crunchy pistachios, and salty guanciale) and the guancia di manzo brassata al vino rosso su letto di purè (impossibly tender roast, soft mashed potatoes, delicious tangy sauce). Fantastic food, great wine recommendation, and lively atmosphere.

(Translated by Google) This evening is the second time we go to this particular sushi restaurant for dinner. As far as the price is concerned, it cannot be said that it is cheap but logically what you spend is adequate for the quality of what you eat. In fact there is nothing to do with the quality of classic Chinese restaurants or those very popular now defined as you can eat. The restaurant is small and there are not many seats. Therefore it is advisable to book in advance. The waiter is very polite and kind, they bring you a small aperitif consisting of 2 types of seaweed and fish tartare, and a glass of prosecco. This is probably also to save some time since several minutes pass from when you order to when the dishes arrive as the sushi is prepared to order and there is nothing ready for consumption. There were three of us and we also spent 110 euros on two sparkling waters and a bottle of Falanghina white wine. No one left hungry, others had serious problems using chopsticks. For palates who appreciate quality sushi it is definitely a place to try.

(Translated by Google) In Piazza Duomo I confess that my first thought, after visiting the Cathedral, was to identify the various buildings seen many times on television in the fiction "Don Matteo". The Carabinieri barracks from the TV series, to the left of the staircase and next to the bar in which the protagonists of the TV series are often framed, is, in reality, the sober sixteenth-century house in which the great composer Giancarlo Menotti lived until his death. Today it is home to the Documentation Center of the Festival dei Due Mondi, a famous artistic festival founded by the composer himself. I was pleased to visit it to deepen my knowledge of both the founder and the digitized material regarding the various editions of the prestigious cultural event from 1958 (the year of its establishment) to today. The exhibition is presented on three floors. At the first you can retrace the history of the Festival, with videos and photos of the most famous artists and the most important shows. There is no shortage of theatrical sets. On the second floor is Giancarlo Menotti's house, with his piano in the center of the room; at the sides of the room, multimedia stands allow you to view scores, images and pieces by the composer. In his bedroom, on the desk, his paper scores are placed. On the third floor I was able to admire a wonderful view of the Duomo from the terrace. There Giancarlo Menotti welcomed the most esteemed guest artists also to attend the concerts and performances that were held in Piazza Duomo.

The artwork "Stranger III" by Lynn Chadwick is a sculpture that elicits a sense of unfamiliarity. It showcases an unknown figure crafted with intricate precision, which evokes curiosity and intrigue in observers. The sculpture's form and structure are meticulously created, presenting an enigmatic presence that captivates the viewer's attention. Through its unique design and meticulous craftsmanship, "Stranger III" invites contemplation on the concept of otherness and challenges preconceived notions of familiarity.
(Translated by Google) In 1962 Giovanni Carandente, curator of the Festival dei Due Mondi exhibitions, asked some contemporary artists of the time to create works to exhibit in the city, in the open air, and then donate them to Spoleto. The experiment was entitled "Sculptures in the city", which has remained in the history of modern art. The American artist Lynn Chadwick sent the work Stranger III, a bronze from 1959, then placed in the position where it currently is, at the end of Via del Duomo before arriving in the Piazza. The work is inspired by anthropomorphic forms. Museum
The Museo Diocesano in Spoleto is located within the Archbishop's Palace, a building with a rich history that includes its previous use as a Benedictine monastery and the seat of the Lombard dukes. The museum was established in the 1970s and features collections displayed chronologically in rooms dedicated to specific themes. Visitors can admire 18th and 19th-century decorated rooms, including the Bishops' Hall with portraits of Spoleto bishops.

(Translated by Google) The diocesan museum can be visited with a 9 euro ticket which is only apparently expensive. In fact, in addition to the entrance to the Museum, it also includes the entrance to the beautiful Basilica of Sant'Eufemia, the audio guide for the entire route and the guided tour of the cathedral, complete with a climb up the bell tower. Furthermore, if you have purchased the Spoleto Card, you are also entitled to a one euro discount. The museum is divided into about ten rooms, with works of sacred subjects and some prestigious names: Beccafumi, Filippino Lippi, Alessandro Algardi and Gianlorenzo Bernini. The Basilica of Sant'Eufemia is a little jewel: you walk on the women's galleries and you can go down to admire the Cosmatesque altar (created for the Cathedral) and the surviving frescoes on the columns. Finally, the guided tour of the Cathedral is very interesting: you can see works by Pinturicchio and Filippo Lippi (including his tomb) and the route also includes climbing from a side chapel to a point from which you can admire the apse with the fresco of the coronation of the Virgin by Filippo Lippi up close. The visit ends with a climb up the bell tower, from which you have a magnificent view of the city, the square and the cathedral itself.

(Translated by Google) Sacred art is a concept that in the 21st century might make those who believe that representing the present is the only comprehensible form of expression smile. Well, the Diocesan Museum of Spoleto, housed in the halls of the Archbishop's Palace, offers visitors a fascinating journey through sacred art, represented by evocative 13th-century shaped crosses, moving panels and wooden sculptures by so-called primitive artists such as the Master of San Felice di Giano, Fossa, and Cesi, or the maple wood Deposition from Roccatamburo, Renaissance paintings by De Magistris, Lippi, and Beccafumi, and such masterpieces as Bernini's bronze bust of Urban VIII and Algardi's marble bust of Saint Philip Neri, as well as a bird's-eye view of the women's gallery inside the Basilica of Sant'Eufemia and a guided tour of the Cathedral and bell tower of Spoleto. It is both a physical (climbing the bell tower) and mental exercise, demanding but rewarding and satisfying, from the point of view of aesthetic enjoyment (frescoes by Lippi and Pinturicchio) and naturalistic (splendid view from the bell tower).

(Translated by Google) It's not worth the internal visit... Everyone enters to visit the church where they filmed Don Matteo, which then turns out to be empty inside, where in my opinion it should be open to the public without the cost of the ticket.....in Rome on Pantheon doesn't have to be paid for and there really is no comparison!!! The exhibition only shows many, many crosses... (Original) Non merita la visita interna... (Translated by Google) The Spoleto Town Hall is located halfway between the forum, now Piazza del Mercato, and Piazza del Duomo, in an area where noble houses, private or representative residences have stood since ancient times. In fact, its foundations rest partly on the area of the Roman House discovered by Giuseppe Sordini in 1885. Previously other spaces were used, but after the year 1296 the government activity of the city was concentrated in this newly restored palace. The appearance of the building before the 13th century is not known, we only know that it included a cloister under whose porticoes the mayor and the captain of the people carried out part of their duties. The oldest part of the building (13th century) is the tower on the south facade in via del Municipio. The eighteenth-century restoration and expansion works of the town hall led to the inclusion within it of the Monte di Pietà, known as Monte della Pietà et de the Virgin Mary Madre de Misericordia, located in a room accessible from the north façade.

Ristorante Locanda della Signoria offers a lovely setting with an incredible terrace and friendly staff. The carbonara is excellent, and they are accommodating when it comes to special requests like creating a stunning burrata, tomato, and pesto dish. It's the perfect place for lunch, drinks, or dinner with honest traditional cooking and a glorious view of the city. The decor is stylish and pretty while the staff are very friendly.
Incredible service with a friendly and attentive staff. Be sure to try the specialties—just ask, and the team will be delighted to share their recommendations. They take great pride in their food, and it shows. Truly an outstanding restaurant.

Not living up to previous reviews. Very disappointed with Sunday lunch here. Some dishes were very good, like the wild boar stew. However us were poor. My wife's octopus was very tough, felt like it had been reheated from previous day. Very young man delivering food was very nervous. Had to send back the roasted potatoes as they were cool. Came back hot from the microwave. They were very bland. Overall we felt the staff including chefs we could see in one kitchen, seemed unhappy. Lovely venue let down by service and variable food.

In the heart of historic Spoleto, Osteria dell'Enoteca offers a celebration of traditional, hearty dishes featuring mushrooms, truffles, game meats, sausages, homemade pasta, and desserts. The restaurant is praised for its authentic Umbrian cuisine and exquisitely prepared dishes. Run by a welcoming couple, it provides amazing service and delicious food at reasonable prices.
Walked in for a lovely lunch. Had the delicious ricotta flan and local strangozzi along with the usual couple glasses of Grechetto. Less than 10 tables, intimate dining, lone server. Restrooms up winding stairs.

We loved everything at this charming small restaurant run by a super nice couple: the beautiful surroundings, the absolutely great food (I highly recommend the truffle dishes), the service, the highly reasonable prices. A gem within a gem - we’ll be sure to come back next time we visit spectacular Spoleto.

Yes definetly awesome. Reviews previously issued for this restaurant gave us good advice, but experiencing it is amazing, delicious and tasteful. It was third or fourth place we tried and this is the best by far. My wife had zuppa Di farro and she said the best she got so far in 7 years in Italy. I had the very unique stringozzi alla spolentina (😋❤️) and delicious beef with veggies and shreded cheese. Before I forget Appetiser... No word "Tagliere Misto". The two ladies taking orders, getting All fixed-prepared and running up&down from upper floor to ground floor, were very friendly-nice-respectful-lovely to take care of us and other people. This is MUST in Spoleto, we missed dessert as we needed to catch train back home (Crescionda 😭😋😘)

I travelled alone and had an almost perfect evening here. Extremely nice and friendly staff. Since I couldn't decide which pasta to have as my first course, I asked for a recommendation. I was served an excellent pasta dish with ricotta cheese, truffles and local sausage. This was followed by a tender tagliata with truffle sauce. All this at a reasonable, fair price Thank you for the wonderful dinner.
