Statua del Gigante

4.4
(1927)
Statua del Gigante is a must-see attraction located on Spiaggia del Gigante, also known as the giants beach. The 14-meter statue of the god Neptune dominates the beach and is surrounded by hotels, restaurants, and play equipment. Visitors can swim near the statue, although the stony beach may be uncomfortable to walk on. It's recommended to explore this section of the coast from the water by renting a boat or joining a private tour.
What seems to be the symbol of Monterosso, the Statua del Gigante sits high above the free public beach in Monterosso. Funny to be sitting at the beach and have all of the day trippers walk up, snap a picture and leave. There are pictures of the statue downtown when it was fully intact. Quite the massive structure.
Jamie W — Google review
The statue is nice, you'll need to either get in the water to get a good view or walk to the nearby parking lot on the other side of that beach (3 minutes). The beach in this section is also free to access, although a bit crowded.
Luis D — Google review
Nice private beach. Cost of 2 sunbeds + shade is 40 euros/day. You can only pay with cash. Showers, private toilette and changing rooms on spot. Amazing Miky restaurant is a 3 minute walk for some amazing lunch!
Iva V — Google review
The beat and small town in this area is wonderful. Great for the summer time. The scenery is truly amazing, for that the entire town and beach is worth visiting. And if you are doing so, might as well check this guy out and get a few cliché tourist photos
Tom T — Google review
If you don’t want to pay for for entering the beach, come all the way here. This section is free and sometimes has shades under to giante. It’s crowded but offer some rocks for jumping. Pebble beach can get pretty hot, but the pebbles has nice feeling on feet on the shaded area.

📍 Statua del Gigante – Monterosso al Mare, Cinque Terre, Italy 🇮🇹 At the far end of Fegina Beach 🏖️ stands this massive seaside statue 🗿, weathered yet still impressive. It’s an iconic Monterosso landmark and a popular spot for photos 📸 with the sea 🌊 and cliffs as a backdrop. Before leaving the villages, we came here for one last glimpse of Cinque Terre’s charm ✨—a fitting farewell view and a reminder of the beauty of this coast. 🙌
Quing_刘妈妈 — Google review
Monterosso al Mare offered a delightful blend of beautiful beaches and charming old town vibes. The historic part of the village provided a fascinating glimpse into its past. The lemon trees and vibrant flowers added to the idyllic atmosphere. Monterosso’s laid-back charm and natural beauty made it a memorable visit.

Beautiful! Free to take pics. Not a bad walk down to it.

Restaurant

Seafood restaurant
Miky is a restaurant located in Monterosso al Mare, Italy, offering inventive takes on Cinque Terre dishes and regional wines. The elegant and understated space provides a perfect setting to enjoy the high-quality ingredients used in their dishes. Additionally, the large outdoor area offers exceptional views that add to the dining experience. Visitors can expect a wide selection of white wine, prosecco, and beer to complement their meals.
We ordered 2 dishes, one is the starter with mixed seafood, the other is the fish with salt crust. Both taste delicious. When they served the fish, I thought it was a good presentation as they removed the salt crust and all the bones of the fish with patience. They also spend effort to split the starter and fish to two plates so me and my wife can share. Food price is on the high side as it is located in the Conque Terre and they also charge 10 Euro per person for the station fee. All in all. We are satisfied.
Craig H — Google review
Everything was great about this restaurant, we also got some foods and desserts on the house which was a great gesture. The food was amazing, we got the salted baked fish and pesto pasta which were both wonderful. One part the could have been better was the desserts, we got the pistachio cream and chocolate cake which were not as great as the food; however, the overall experience was great and the staff were really attentive and friendly. Looking forward to go back and try more of their delicious food.
Reyhaneh A — Google review
The menu hosted a variety of dishes featuring local ingredients. The anchovies prepared in multiple forms really brought forward the amazing flavor of the fish. We had the pesto gnocchi and anchovy spaghetti and both dishes were exceptionally fresh and filled with bold flavors! Definitely would recommend for tourists visiting Monterosso!
Math — Google review
This restaurant should be taken off all guides. The food experience was between negative and mediocre. One waiter was very friendly, others were giving off a vibe of wanting to go home. We ordered two pasta dishes. One of them was supposed to have a fancy presentation, setting the dough on fire. Unfortunately by husband wasn’t able to witness it as the waiter did it behind the bush. 😂 My seafood pasta was massively over salted, and had 5 clams in total. For 36 EUR per pasta dish I would have expected at least something that tastes good or is made from home made pasta, which wasn’t the case. We didn’t dare to try dessert because anything till that point was massively disappointing. The serving plates looked pretty, which was the only nice thing about this restaurant.
Daria B — Google review
Everything was really good and you can tell this restaurant is aspiring to more than just a mention in the Guide Michelin. We hade a selection of seafood dishes and they were all great. However, I must say that the bread for the table at the start of the meal was frankly quite stale. I have been to many star restaurants and honestly, you won’t make a star with that bread being served. Either skip it all together (since they serve some amuse bouche which were lovely) OR bake some fresh bread in the morning and don’t serve stale leftovers 😉 We are considering going back for lunch again day after dinner because it was really good so the bread point is just a suggestion to elevate the experience further! Highly recommend anyone to come here!
Kolla L — Google review
Go to any other place but here, I hate to say it but the hype and reviews are not honest. With it being a Michelin star restaurant we thought it would measure up to its name and it sadly disappointed, we started with a soggy chip in the shape of a clam with salsa, and beeswax with Chex looking crackers and then for an appetizer we got canned tomato tasting soup with scallops and my husband got over cooked rabbit with and I the cold but very nicely presented pasta with no taste but salt…hard to give them a nice critique other than our server was nice and it hurt to tell them the whole experience was underwhelming, we loved Barabba and for a fraction of the price
Paulina P — Google review
One of the best dinner experiences I have ever had. Beautiful and delicious food, attentive staff, amazing and creative intermezzos. This is fine dining with a cool atmosphere, rather than too buttoned up and stuffy. This is also fine dining without the high price point - everyone in my group thought our bill was wrong because it was so inexpensive compared to what we usually pay for that experience and service in the US. Wish we had time in our travels to fit in another meal here, but we opted to try their sister restaurant, Radici, which is located up the mountain at their farm where they grow their own veggies and make their own olive oil (also amazing). Miky is a must if you are in Cinque Terre, and I would recommend it as a destination restaurant for anyone traveling in Italy.
Michele C — Google review
If you want to explore local cousine, this restaurant will cover every bit of tradition in an amazing way. It is very cosy inside and also has 2 terraces for those who prefer sitting outside. You will have trouble choosing from the menu - it is yhat good - but if it helps: homemade pasta w. pesto is to die for, as well as rabbit ragu. We paid 120 euros for lunch for 2 persons, including a glass of their local wine (10euros per glass, pinot noir). Very pleasant service & everyone speaks english really well.

Train station
Monterosso, the largest of the Cinque Terre, is a popular tourist destination with its expansive beach and vibrant new district. Unlike other towns in the area, Monterosso offers a lively social scene and nightlife along its promenade. The charming old town features picturesque narrow streets while Fegina and the waterfront provide more open spaces with few cars.
Great Train Station! Very nice little train station, it has all you could wish for. Toilets! & a bar. This was one of the easiest in the Cinque Terre.
Paul V — Google review
Monterroso is a beautiful place with a nice large beach , just out from the train you can see the sea and beach wirh many shops . Very ideal for summer. The seats are not cheap but you can also bring your own for free.
Wang J — Google review
Monterosso’s train station is the largest in Cinque Terre and offers direct access to regional and high-speed trains. It’s right by the beach, which makes arrivals feel instantly scenic. Facilities are basic—ticket office, bar, restrooms—but functional. Stairs are the only way to switch platforms, so travelers with heavy luggage or mobility needs should plan ahead. The station connects easily to both the old town and beachside hotels, making it a practical and picturesque starting point.
Jonathan P — Google review
📍 Monterosso Stazione Ferroviaria – Monterosso al Mare, Italy 🇮🇹 A small but very convenient station 🚆 right by the beach 🏖️. We bought our tickets at the counter 🎟️ and used the trains to hop in and out between the Cinque Terre villages 🌊🚉—fast, easy, and the best way to get around. The station is simple, with clear signs and ticket machines, though trains can be crowded during peak hours 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️. Perfectly located, you step off the train and you’re already in the heart of Monterosso. 🙌
Quing_刘妈妈 — Google review
This is the furthest station in Cinque Terre and it's quite convenient because the town is just right outside, so there's no need to walk or hike for miles. It's also the only town in Cinque Terre that has a proper beach with lounge chairs and umbrellas. There's not amazing views like Manarola but it's a great place to swim and lounge.
Matteo T — Google review
Monterosso’s train station is the largest in Cinque Terre and offers direct access to regional and high-speed trains. Close to the beach.
Mihai F — Google review
The train stops right in town so easy to walk from hotels into the old area of town. Old town is loke stepping back in time...LOTS of character here...Lots of fun shops and eateries. If it rains ...they ALL close early!! Beautiful ocean views and little alleys to explore. Several grocery stores to grab quick eats at. Train station is pretty user friendly but beware the ticket machines require a PIN number for credit cards. It's easier to either have Euros for machines or purchase tickets inside train station. Trains run frequently to the other villages. Trains are clean but can get busy during the day.
Gwen P — Google review
Biggest beaches in all cinque terre. Recommend stay here, with the cinque terre card you can visit the rest of the towns easily.

Bar Colpi di Timone Monterosso offers cocktails and wine in an intimate setting. The bar is decorated with vintage accessories and has a specialty cocktail menu that includes unique drinks like the Margarita Timone.
Very good place to relax and for fun. Drink’s are very good and people who work here is very paceful and nice. And give us a free snack!!

Super cute bar, the drinks are amazing and the prices are okay. staff was very friendly thank you so much. The Apperetivo was good as well.

We got a Size L pina colada and it was awful, you can only taste the rum and a bit of old pineapple. Maybe the food is better but i don’t even wanna risk next 20€ 💔🥀

Very good staff and god atmosphere and lots of alcohol for the money
Lovisa S — Google review
Cozy place! Ordered two cocktails and have got bunch of snacks (tortilla + salsa, puffed corn, mozzarella balls + cherry tomatoes, foccacia slices). Personal in good mood, not to loud music wich is matching with waves in the sea! And the most important was cocktails - they were GOOD!!!
Irmantas C — Google review
Experience ok on it self but terrible policy. While we were there, a group of 3 french people were asked to pay and leave with no apparent reason while other customers had offencive gesters toward them. We went talking to them afterward, they were not rude, they didn’t speak loudly, just free discrimination. I just can’t stand this kind of behaviour. You guys work in one of the most touristic place in the world. To heck with these people, racism is the worst

Super little bar by the side of the road. Bar Colpi di Timone in Monterosso is a very nice place to have a 7€ cocktail and listen to music by the sea. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Look for it when in Monterosso for a drink or two or even to spend the evening! This is our second night here and we love it

Bakery
Fornaio Di Monterosso is a popular bakery in Cinque Terre known for its wide variety of focaccia options. Visitors can enjoy their food at outdoor tables with a view of the sea or take their focaccia to the beach. The family-run establishment offers fantastic food, especially the pesto, and strong cocktails. It's a favorite breakfast spot for many due to its delicious pastries and good coffee.
Delicious focaccia. The staff are quite nice and also speak English as well as Italian. We went here twice when we were in Monterosso. Take away is cheaper so we did not dine in.
Georgia C — Google review
Great pizza here! We didn't think we'd find anything but the traditional flatbread pizzas (which are great), but we found this place and it was excellent! I would make pizza just like this with my Nonna, very reminiscent which made it even better.
Cassandra M — Google review
I’m not someone who ever leaves reviews but needed to come on here and say that the focaccia was the best I ever had. I got the one with cheese and potatoes on top. Will be dreaming of it! Their pizza is also incredible and so tasty. Best food I had in the whole of Italy.
Chaimaa C — Google review
Taking into consideration the context (a very touristy spot), this was a pretty good place for lunch. We got salads and the mixed greens, tomatoes and the rest of the ingredients were fresh and tasty. The service is prompt if a little rushed, but given how busy this little town is, it's perfectly understandable. The server that others have complained about was nice to us, especially after we were nice to her. (I certainly wouldn't want her job!)
FrenchMayo — Google review
4+ stars. The focaccia is available with many different toppings. The few I tried were really good, but the style of this focaccia is more similar to a pizza by the slice (pizza al taglio). It was also much more expensive than equally good bakeries in the same town. It gets really busy as it is facing the main beach promenade. The staff was very friendly.
Matteo B — Google review
Had a delicious panino and focaccia pizza for lunch. Highly recommend.
Daniel C — Google review
Panetteria with a wide selection, but what really stands out in a negative way is the pricing policy: they charge two different prices for take-away and eat-in, with up to 30% higher prices if you sit at a table. Quite ridiculous, considering the only extra you get is a seat. Right next door there’s another bakery with better prices and the same quality.
Antonio N — Google review
Our favourite restaurant in Monterosso. Family run, Andrea is a lovely guy. The food is fantastic, especially the pesto. The cocktails are strong, the cakes are sweet, and the view is lovely. Prices are excellent. We're looking forward to visiting again. Don't hesitate to visit!

The seafood restaurant Barabba In White serves up some of the best dishes around. The menu comes in both Italian and English, so no matter what you're in the mood for, you'll be able to find it here. The food is excellent and very fresh. There's even a beach side seating area perfect for relaxing while you enjoy your meal.
The food at this place is phenomenal. Probably the best octopus salad I ever had! The service was excellent, highly recommend

I had the fried mixed seafood (calamari, prawns and anchovies with veggies) and it was the best seafood I had had in a while. The drinks were great but the service was a bit slow especially since it wasn’t really that busy. The drinks were good and the atmosphere was ok. It’s right on the beach so there’s beautiful views and atmosphere.
Ameliah M — Google review
Ordered 3 lemon sorbet and all came slimy and was almost room temperature. Staff also insisted us to sit out in the sun since we didn’t order proper food but only desserts and wine, despite the fact that it was 4pm with only 2 tables of customers in the whole restaurant while it’s 32 degrees out with no clouds. We understand the restaurant has its own policy but that was a bit ridiculous. After we refused the staff was slamming things down on the table. Would avoid this restaurant

Reservation HIGHLY RECOMMEND. We had to wait to be seated at 8:30pm. Very busy and very hot in the location of our table. Our service was FANTASTIC. The food is great. The BEST GELATO IN TOWN!!!

Great spot on the beach that we just randomly selected. Staff were fantastic (Alessandro was great) I had the ministries soup and Caesar salad which was delicious. Wife had spaghetti pesto which was also excellent. Recommend.

Should have listened to the recommendation to go to Miky's. But....we walked to Barabba and thought the view was pretty so decided to try it out. I would avoid this place unless ur just going for a cocktail and the view. The view truly is fabulous!! We sat out back and loved the water ambiance. The rest of the restaurant, however, is really weird. It's like you're walking through their work area or a work in progress. The cashier up front is in a plexiglass type cage but his side window is completely open. The staff seems like they might not know they actually work here and their lack of attentiveness or presence is representative of it. Bread is brought out and the brown bread was quite nice. The rest was stale. The swordfish was edible, but not very good. It is a large piece so if ur looking for quantity, it's a lot. The Mediterranean salad has no lettuce, which I suspected, but don't b surprised. On a positive, we were able to find some fresh veggies here so appreciated that. Would we return? Definitely not. Also wouldn't recommend to others. Don't let the pretty views call you in.
Q S — Google review
Don’t go to dinner elsewhere this place was recommended by our host and was great for lunch’s and dinner. You can order pizza to go for beach days and the dinners are great; we loved the authenticity of the place and the family atmosphere. Though we did have to wait for a table even though we made reservations but it’s a good tell all sign when the restaurant was packed every night
