Statua del Gigante

4.4
(1927)
Statua del Gigante is a must-see attraction located on Spiaggia del Gigante, also known as the giants beach. The 14-meter statue of the god Neptune dominates the beach and is surrounded by hotels, restaurants, and play equipment. Visitors can swim near the statue, although the stony beach may be uncomfortable to walk on. It's recommended to explore this section of the coast from the water by renting a boat or joining a private tour.
What seems to be the symbol of Monterosso, the Statua del Gigante sits high above the free public beach in Monterosso. Funny to be sitting at the beach and have all of the day trippers walk up, snap a picture and leave. There are pictures of the statue downtown when it was fully intact. Quite the massive structure.
Jamie W — Google review
The statue is nice, you'll need to either get in the water to get a good view or walk to the nearby parking lot on the other side of that beach (3 minutes). The beach in this section is also free to access, although a bit crowded.
Luis D — Google review
Nice private beach. Cost of 2 sunbeds + shade is 40 euros/day. You can only pay with cash. Showers, private toilette and changing rooms on spot. Amazing Miky restaurant is a 3 minute walk for some amazing lunch!
Iva V — Google review
The beat and small town in this area is wonderful. Great for the summer time. The scenery is truly amazing, for that the entire town and beach is worth visiting. And if you are doing so, might as well check this guy out and get a few cliché tourist photos
Tom T — Google review
If you don’t want to pay for for entering the beach, come all the way here. This section is free and sometimes has shades under to giante. It’s crowded but offer some rocks for jumping. Pebble beach can get pretty hot, but the pebbles has nice feeling on feet on the shaded area.

📍 Statua del Gigante – Monterosso al Mare, Cinque Terre, Italy 🇮🇹 At the far end of Fegina Beach 🏖️ stands this massive seaside statue 🗿, weathered yet still impressive. It’s an iconic Monterosso landmark and a popular spot for photos 📸 with the sea 🌊 and cliffs as a backdrop. Before leaving the villages, we came here for one last glimpse of Cinque Terre’s charm ✨—a fitting farewell view and a reminder of the beauty of this coast. 🙌
Quing_刘妈妈 — Google review
Monterosso al Mare offered a delightful blend of beautiful beaches and charming old town vibes. The historic part of the village provided a fascinating glimpse into its past. The lemon trees and vibrant flowers added to the idyllic atmosphere. Monterosso’s laid-back charm and natural beauty made it a memorable visit.

Miky is a restaurant located in Monterosso al Mare, Italy, offering inventive takes on Cinque Terre dishes and regional wines. The elegant and understated space provides a perfect setting to enjoy the high-quality ingredients used in their dishes. Additionally, the large outdoor area offers exceptional views that add to the dining experience. Visitors can expect a wide selection of white wine, prosecco, and beer to complement their meals.
We ordered 2 dishes, one is the starter with mixed seafood, the other is the fish with salt crust. Both taste delicious. When they served the fish, I thought it was a good presentation as they removed the salt crust and all the bones of the fish with patience. They also spend effort to split the starter and fish to two plates so me and my wife can share. Food price is on the high side as it is located in the Conque Terre and they also charge 10 Euro per person for the station fee. All in all. We are satisfied.
Craig H — Google review
Everything was great about this restaurant, we also got some foods and desserts on the house which was a great gesture. The food was amazing, we got the salted baked fish and pesto pasta which were both wonderful. One part the could have been better was the desserts, we got the pistachio cream and chocolate cake which were not as great as the food; however, the overall experience was great and the staff were really attentive and friendly. Looking forward to go back and try more of their delicious food.
Reyhaneh A — Google review
The menu hosted a variety of dishes featuring local ingredients. The anchovies prepared in multiple forms really brought forward the amazing flavor of the fish. We had the pesto gnocchi and anchovy spaghetti and both dishes were exceptionally fresh and filled with bold flavors! Definitely would recommend for tourists visiting Monterosso!
Math — Google review
This restaurant should be taken off all guides. The food experience was between negative and mediocre. One waiter was very friendly, others were giving off a vibe of wanting to go home. We ordered two pasta dishes. One of them was supposed to have a fancy presentation, setting the dough on fire. Unfortunately by husband wasn’t able to witness it as the waiter did it behind the bush. 😂 My seafood pasta was massively over salted, and had 5 clams in total. For 36 EUR per pasta dish I would have expected at least something that tastes good or is made from home made pasta, which wasn’t the case. We didn’t dare to try dessert because anything till that point was massively disappointing. The serving plates looked pretty, which was the only nice thing about this restaurant.
Daria B — Google review
Everything was really good and you can tell this restaurant is aspiring to more than just a mention in the Guide Michelin. We hade a selection of seafood dishes and they were all great. However, I must say that the bread for the table at the start of the meal was frankly quite stale. I have been to many star restaurants and honestly, you won’t make a star with that bread being served. Either skip it all together (since they serve some amuse bouche which were lovely) OR bake some fresh bread in the morning and don’t serve stale leftovers 😉 We are considering going back for lunch again day after dinner because it was really good so the bread point is just a suggestion to elevate the experience further! Highly recommend anyone to come here!
Kolla L — Google review
Go to any other place but here, I hate to say it but the hype and reviews are not honest. With it being a Michelin star restaurant we thought it would measure up to its name and it sadly disappointed, we started with a soggy chip in the shape of a clam with salsa, and beeswax with Chex looking crackers and then for an appetizer we got canned tomato tasting soup with scallops and my husband got over cooked rabbit with and I the cold but very nicely presented pasta with no taste but salt…hard to give them a nice critique other than our server was nice and it hurt to tell them the whole experience was underwhelming, we loved Barabba and for a fraction of the price
Paulina P — Google review
One of the best dinner experiences I have ever had. Beautiful and delicious food, attentive staff, amazing and creative intermezzos. This is fine dining with a cool atmosphere, rather than too buttoned up and stuffy. This is also fine dining without the high price point - everyone in my group thought our bill was wrong because it was so inexpensive compared to what we usually pay for that experience and service in the US. Wish we had time in our travels to fit in another meal here, but we opted to try their sister restaurant, Radici, which is located up the mountain at their farm where they grow their own veggies and make their own olive oil (also amazing). Miky is a must if you are in Cinque Terre, and I would recommend it as a destination restaurant for anyone traveling in Italy.
Michele C — Google review
If you want to explore local cousine, this restaurant will cover every bit of tradition in an amazing way. It is very cosy inside and also has 2 terraces for those who prefer sitting outside. You will have trouble choosing from the menu - it is yhat good - but if it helps: homemade pasta w. pesto is to die for, as well as rabbit ragu. We paid 120 euros for lunch for 2 persons, including a glass of their local wine (10euros per glass, pinot noir). Very pleasant service & everyone speaks english really well.

Train station
Monterosso, the largest of the Cinque Terre, is a popular tourist destination with its expansive beach and vibrant new district. Unlike other towns in the area, Monterosso offers a lively social scene and nightlife along its promenade. The charming old town features picturesque narrow streets while Fegina and the waterfront provide more open spaces with few cars.
Great Train Station! Very nice little train station, it has all you could wish for. Toilets! & a bar. This was one of the easiest in the Cinque Terre.
Paul V — Google review
Monterroso is a beautiful place with a nice large beach , just out from the train you can see the sea and beach wirh many shops . Very ideal for summer. The seats are not cheap but you can also bring your own for free.
Wang J — Google review
Monterosso’s train station is the largest in Cinque Terre and offers direct access to regional and high-speed trains. It’s right by the beach, which makes arrivals feel instantly scenic. Facilities are basic—ticket office, bar, restrooms—but functional. Stairs are the only way to switch platforms, so travelers with heavy luggage or mobility needs should plan ahead. The station connects easily to both the old town and beachside hotels, making it a practical and picturesque starting point.
Jonathan P — Google review
📍 Monterosso Stazione Ferroviaria – Monterosso al Mare, Italy 🇮🇹 A small but very convenient station 🚆 right by the beach 🏖️. We bought our tickets at the counter 🎟️ and used the trains to hop in and out between the Cinque Terre villages 🌊🚉—fast, easy, and the best way to get around. The station is simple, with clear signs and ticket machines, though trains can be crowded during peak hours 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️. Perfectly located, you step off the train and you’re already in the heart of Monterosso. 🙌
Quing_刘妈妈 — Google review
This is the furthest station in Cinque Terre and it's quite convenient because the town is just right outside, so there's no need to walk or hike for miles. It's also the only town in Cinque Terre that has a proper beach with lounge chairs and umbrellas. There's not amazing views like Manarola but it's a great place to swim and lounge.
Matteo T — Google review
Monterosso’s train station is the largest in Cinque Terre and offers direct access to regional and high-speed trains. Close to the beach.
Mihai F — Google review
The train stops right in town so easy to walk from hotels into the old area of town. Old town is loke stepping back in time...LOTS of character here...Lots of fun shops and eateries. If it rains ...they ALL close early!! Beautiful ocean views and little alleys to explore. Several grocery stores to grab quick eats at. Train station is pretty user friendly but beware the ticket machines require a PIN number for credit cards. It's easier to either have Euros for machines or purchase tickets inside train station. Trains run frequently to the other villages. Trains are clean but can get busy during the day.
Gwen P — Google review
Biggest beaches in all cinque terre. Recommend stay here, with the cinque terre card you can visit the rest of the towns easily.

Cozy place! Ordered two cocktails and have got bunch of snacks (tortilla + salsa, puffed corn, mozzarella balls + cherry tomatoes, foccacia slices). Personal in good mood, not to loud music wich is matching with waves in the sea! And the most important was cocktails - they were GOOD!!!

Experience ok on it self but terrible policy. While we were there, a group of 3 french people were asked to pay and leave with no apparent reason while other customers had offencive gesters toward them. We went talking to them afterward, they were not rude, they didn’t speak loudly, just free discrimination. I just can’t stand this kind of behaviour. You guys work in one of the most touristic place in the world. To heck with these people, racism is the worst

Super little bar by the side of the road. Bar Colpi di Timone in Monterosso is a very nice place to have a 7€ cocktail and listen to music by the sea. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Bakery
Fornaio Di Monterosso is a popular bakery in Cinque Terre known for its wide variety of focaccia options. Visitors can enjoy their food at outdoor tables with a view of the sea or take their focaccia to the beach. The family-run establishment offers fantastic food, especially the pesto, and strong cocktails. It's a favorite breakfast spot for many due to its delicious pastries and good coffee.
Delicious focaccia. The staff are quite nice and also speak English as well as Italian. We went here twice when we were in Monterosso. Take away is cheaper so we did not dine in.
Georgia C — Google review
Great pizza here! We didn't think we'd find anything but the traditional flatbread pizzas (which are great), but we found this place and it was excellent! I would make pizza just like this with my Nonna, very reminiscent which made it even better.
Cassandra M — Google review
I’m not someone who ever leaves reviews but needed to come on here and say that the focaccia was the best I ever had. I got the one with cheese and potatoes on top. Will be dreaming of it! Their pizza is also incredible and so tasty. Best food I had in the whole of Italy.
Chaimaa C — Google review
Taking into consideration the context (a very touristy spot), this was a pretty good place for lunch. We got salads and the mixed greens, tomatoes and the rest of the ingredients were fresh and tasty. The service is prompt if a little rushed, but given how busy this little town is, it's perfectly understandable. The server that others have complained about was nice to us, especially after we were nice to her. (I certainly wouldn't want her job!)
FrenchMayo — Google review
4+ stars. The focaccia is available with many different toppings. The few I tried were really good, but the style of this focaccia is more similar to a pizza by the slice (pizza al taglio). It was also much more expensive than equally good bakeries in the same town. It gets really busy as it is facing the main beach promenade. The staff was very friendly.
Matteo B — Google review
Had a delicious panino and focaccia pizza for lunch. Highly recommend.
Daniel C — Google review
Panetteria with a wide selection, but what really stands out in a negative way is the pricing policy: they charge two different prices for take-away and eat-in, with up to 30% higher prices if you sit at a table. Quite ridiculous, considering the only extra you get is a seat. Right next door there’s another bakery with better prices and the same quality.
Antonio N — Google review
Our favourite restaurant in Monterosso. Family run, Andrea is a lovely guy. The food is fantastic, especially the pesto. The cocktails are strong, the cakes are sweet, and the view is lovely. Prices are excellent. We're looking forward to visiting again. Don't hesitate to visit!

The seafood restaurant Barabba In White serves up some of the best dishes around. The menu comes in both Italian and English, so no matter what you're in the mood for, you'll be able to find it here. The food is excellent and very fresh. There's even a beach side seating area perfect for relaxing while you enjoy your meal.
The food at this place is phenomenal. Probably the best octopus salad I ever had! The service was excellent, highly recommend

I had the fried mixed seafood (calamari, prawns and anchovies with veggies) and it was the best seafood I had had in a while. The drinks were great but the service was a bit slow especially since it wasn’t really that busy. The drinks were good and the atmosphere was ok. It’s right on the beach so there’s beautiful views and atmosphere.
Ameliah M — Google review
Ordered 3 lemon sorbet and all came slimy and was almost room temperature. Staff also insisted us to sit out in the sun since we didn’t order proper food but only desserts and wine, despite the fact that it was 4pm with only 2 tables of customers in the whole restaurant while it’s 32 degrees out with no clouds. We understand the restaurant has its own policy but that was a bit ridiculous. After we refused the staff was slamming things down on the table. Would avoid this restaurant

Reservation HIGHLY RECOMMEND. We had to wait to be seated at 8:30pm. Very busy and very hot in the location of our table. Our service was FANTASTIC. The food is great. The BEST GELATO IN TOWN!!!

Great spot on the beach that we just randomly selected. Staff were fantastic (Alessandro was great) I had the ministries soup and Caesar salad which was delicious. Wife had spaghetti pesto which was also excellent. Recommend.
Peter A — Google review
Should have listened to the recommendation to go to Miky's. But....we walked to Barabba and thought the view was pretty so decided to try it out. I would avoid this place unless ur just going for a cocktail and the view. The view truly is fabulous!! We sat out back and loved the water ambiance. The rest of the restaurant, however, is really weird. It's like you're walking through their work area or a work in progress. The cashier up front is in a plexiglass type cage but his side window is completely open. The staff seems like they might not know they actually work here and their lack of attentiveness or presence is representative of it. Bread is brought out and the brown bread was quite nice. The rest was stale. The swordfish was edible, but not very good. It is a large piece so if ur looking for quantity, it's a lot. The Mediterranean salad has no lettuce, which I suspected, but don't b surprised. On a positive, we were able to find some fresh veggies here so appreciated that. Would we return? Definitely not. Also wouldn't recommend to others. Don't let the pretty views call you in.
Q S — Google review
Don’t go to dinner elsewhere this place was recommended by our host and was great for lunch’s and dinner. You can order pizza to go for beach days and the dinners are great; we loved the authenticity of the place and the family atmosphere. Though we did have to wait for a table even though we made reservations but it’s a good tell all sign when the restaurant was packed every night

Hiking Trails
The Sentiero Monterosso - Vernazza is a popular and picturesque hiking trail that connects the Cinque Terre, offering stunning ocean views and lush landscapes. One of its highlights is a famous lookout point near Vernazza, known for its Instagram-worthy scenery. While a Cinque Terre Trekking Card is required during the hiking season, it may not always be enforced.
It was absolutely beautiful. It did take 1-2 hours and the stairs are quite the workout. Definitely have to stop and catch your breath from how much you climb up and down but if you love a good hike with gorgeous views I definitely recommend this. Some of the pathway is pretty narrow so be careful! Also, if you hike when it's hot, bring a swimsuit and jump into the water at Vernazza or Monterosso, it feels MAGICAL.
Laura P — Google review
We walked from Vernazza to Monterosso. It took about an hour and a half. The first half hour, in particular, is quite tiring and challenging; you're walking uphill. There are beautiful views along the way. There's no way to refill your water bottle along the way, so stock up on water beforehand.
Mehmet A — Google review
Please take cat food with you - lots if possible!!!!!! There is a cat village and a designated area to leave food so people can feed them over time. It is up to us to feed these homeless cats. Walked this trail today and to my surprise, there was a few homeless cats who are in a small gated area with cat houses and a sign that states something along the lines of “homeless and unloved cats, please feed” …there was no food there and they looked quite skinny. If you are planning to walk this trail, please bring a bag of cat food, maybe some wet cans (not tin, they can cut their tongue on those), water… whatever you can. If I had known this going into the hike, I would’ve brought it. I’m not sure what the deal is with any caretakers for the cats but it would be nice to have a sign or something prior to starting the trail to let people know there are cats along the way, so people can purchase food before going up…. Lots of people were very upset to see the cats there with no food and there’s nothing to do about it at that point… it is mid-trail and nothing around. Otherwise, it is very uphill so be very prepared - but the sights are well worth it!

3.6 km, about 2h walk. It tooked us 2h15 with a big break at a bar about 1km away from Monterosso, the only one along the way. Lots of steps, but pretty easy to walk with good shoes... And the viens are so worth it !
Emma — Google review
This is a very strenuous trail with 800 ft of elevation. It was quite difficult with many stairs on both the accent a decent. We’re in our 30s and 40s and it took us about two hours with several stops for photos and the drink water. The terrain is treacherous at times. Make sure you wear the appropriate shoes with tread and waterproofing if possible as it is very muddy in some areas. The views and experience is absolutely worth it though!
Brianna M — Google review
Very beautiful hike. WARNING for anyone that wants to do this hike but isn’t a seasoned hiker: start from Vernazza and go towards Monterosso!! I started from Monterosso and it was a LOT of steep stairs & uphill. I read a review from someone on here who talked about having to climb up on all fours… while I didn’t get to that level I DEFINITELY was feeling that review to my core 😂😭 If I were to do it again, I would start from Vernazza. It’s doable both ways, but know that it will be more difficult if you start from Monterosso. The views will be beautiful & the same whichever town you start from. I had to take a lot of breaks, but many people (both old & young) did the same so I didn’t feel too left out. I recommend you do the hike early in the morning or towards late afternoon, that way you can have a little bit of a breeze and it’s not constantly hot. For reference, we did the hike with a lot of breezes and I STILL had my shirt drenched with sweat. If it is rainy, be careful!! Wear appropriate shoes for that. We did it while it was sunny & dry but there were many areas that were slip-potential. Also, you can access the viewpoint of the Vernazza background for picture-taking WITHOUT having to hike. I have included a picture so you know which viewpoint I’m talking about.
Deniz N — Google review
Trail from Monterosso to Vernazza is easy for experienced hikers, a little more moderate for less experienced. Many steps to gain elevation at first, but then levels out. Trail is clearly labeled. No water points along trail.

📍 Sentiero Monterosso – Vernazza, Cinque Terre, Italy 🇮🇹 We hiked this trail in the morning ☀️ and even caught a flea market in village🛍️ before starting. The climb up the staircases ⬆️ was tough, but reaching the Vernazza viewpoint made it all worth it 📸🌊. Stunning views of the colorful village and coastline, surrounded by vineyards 🍇 and olive trees 🌿. A bit crowded at times 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️, but still one of the most rewarding experiences in Cinque Terre. 🙌

If you want great service and helpful staff this is the best place to come. The seafood dishes look amazing, but we had spaghetti and meat sauce, and spaghetti with meat balls Very flavoursome and came with bread to soak up the sauce. Great location overlooking the beach. Definitely recommend it

I went for lunch and had the pasta al pesto con fagiolini. So fresh, fragrant with the pesto, and perfectly crisp. The white wine was delicious as well. I bought a bottle to take back home with me!

Wish I could rate this place higher, the food was AMAZING. We had the lobster pasta, local white fish with lemon sauce and the chicken with mushroom sauce, and the tuna tartar appetizer. Everything tasted so fresh. It took a little while to get the food but between the drinks and the view, we were in no rush. The owner was so friendly and welcoming. 100% recommend!!

Lunch at a beautiful location overlooking beach and sea. Starters were stuffed sardines and stuffed mussels. Nice! But the star of the show was the tortellini polpo, with a very very tasty rich sauce with perfectly cookes squid. What a fantastic taste. Nice rose went very well with our dishes.

We stopped in for a dinner while in Monterosso. They seated us without a reservation outside with a beautiful view. The food was delicious, sea bream , pesto pasta and lemon fish, all excellent. However our server, Innaury, made the meal outstanding. He was so attentive and worked thru our questions, all with a smile. Very rare to find someone who is willing to go the extra mile to help others have a good time. Well done Innaury!! Highly recommend this restaurant.

The food was SO GOOD here we ate here TWICE! Everything was homemade and fresh. The owners were so kind and welcoming. It was the perfect experience.

We enjoyed a very nice lunch here. The location is great, overlooking the sea. The patio has umbrellas, but they don't tilt so we had full sun on us, which impacted how long we could linger. The salmon salad was very good, and my husband's grilled shrimp were pretty good. This restaurant is away from the main strip so it was a little harder to find, but that also made it nicer.

Restaurant
Cocktail bar
Torre Aurora, a historic building with a thousand-year-old structure, provides stunning views of Monterosso's bay and the neighboring towns of Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. The establishment offers creative cocktails like 'Message in a Bottle' and 'Saproe del Mare,' featuring unique ingredients such as pear syrup, tequila reposado, pimento, sea salt essence, and more.
Torre Aurora is an absolute gem! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the stunning coastal views — the rooftop setting is just magical, especially at sunset. It’s the kind of place that instantly puts you in vacation mode. We actually visited this restaurant twice during our trip, and both experiences were unforgettable. That alone says a lot about how special this place is. The food was outstanding — every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. You can truly taste the freshness and quality in every bite. The drinks were equally impressive — creative cocktails, a great wine selection, and everything served with style and care. The atmosphere is relaxed yet elegant, with a perfect blend of coastal charm and refined dining. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from start to finish. Whether you’re celebrating something special or simply want to enjoy a perfect evening with an ocean breeze and amazing food, Toree Aurora is a must-visit. Can’t wait to return!

This place was a great experience. Everywhere said to book a reservation but when we went late May we walked in at 6:30 no reservation and got a great table for 2. The views were really immaculate of the ocean and the town of Monterosso. Really stunning. The restaurant itself is in old ruins and the staff was very professional. We were treated with complimentary prosecco and a small bread appetizer with a small greens salad on top. Then a bread basket. We ordered the cod dish and the octopus pasta. The cod dish was very tender and good but did lack a little flavor. The octopus pasta on the other hand was very good and flavorful. Was a great dish. Service was great, food was pretty good, and the views were unbeatabale. We spent about 100 euro for two with a bottle of wine in that price.

My wife and I ate here on our stay in Monterosso during our honeymoon. The views from this restaurant are amazing! The food was excellent, the staff treated us well, and the overall experience was great. We highly recommend eating here during your stay in Monterosso.

We went to have dinner in what should have been one of the most beautiful spots in Monterosso, at the top of the hill with stunning views. Unfortunately, what began as a promising meal quickly turned into one of the worst dining experiences of my life. The restaurant was absolutely infested with mosquitoes. It wasn’t just one or two. It was an invasion!! A mosquito even landed in my glass of water, and I had to constantly protect my wine from them. I personally killed several mosquitoes at the table, and still ended up with multiple bites. Every single table around us was struggling, and another couple even told us they had already killed around 50. What makes this worse is that the staff did absolutely nothing about it. No apology, no attempt to help, no acknowledgement — just complete indifference, as if this was normal. For a fine dining restaurant (with prices to match), this is unacceptable. The location is undeniably beautiful, but never in my life have I had to fight off so many bugs while trying to enjoy a meal. It was not just unpleasant — it was truly disgusting, and it completely ruined what should have been a memorable dinner in my travel in Italy.

Oh my goodness the most incredible view of my lifetime and I am now 66 years old. Received the recommendation from a friend and made it a point to spend our afternoon at this incredible restaurant. Just soaked it in good food, friendly service and enjoyed soaking in God’s creation. If you’re on the fence of where to go in this town, you would be mistaken if you don’t choose this place for lunch or dinner!

The staff was very attentive and friendly. It was a wonderful evening with an excellent vegetable dish — perfectly cooked and I absolutely loved the sauce. I couldn’t stop dipping bread into it! The fish we had was incredibly tasty and cooked to perfection. The skin was crisped just right, and the mashed potatoes on the side paired beautifully with it. I highly recommend this place to everyone. Stay well and with love

Seafood restaurant
Italian restaurant
The seafood restaurant Ristorante Belvedere is an Italian establishment that overlooks the beach. It is a good place to try the local bounty, with dishes including penne con scampi (pasta tubes with scampi) and zuppa di pesce (fish soup). The waiter was rude at times, but the food was authentic and enjoyable.
Stopped in after a morning hike. Cold beer was very good and much needed. Ordered a seafood appetizer. As we were working on what we thought was our small plate they delivered two additional plates of assorted seafood and a basket of bread. It was ample enough for a meal for us both.
Terry R — Google review
Went there on a recommendation and were disappointed. The host was incredibly rude not allowing us to sit in the main dining room insisting that we sit outside. We persisted and finally were seated in the main dining room. After that we felt as though they didn’t want us in the restaurant and treated us so poorly. Food was hit or miss. Our pasta was above average but our friends calamari dinner was inedible. All in all we cannot recommend this place to tourists.
Kelly K — Google review
Had a great meal. The seafood was fresh. All but 2 clams were fully open. The pasta cooked perfectly. Well seasoned. Good service Swordfish was perfectly cooked but needed a pinch of salt for perfection Friendly staff. The Bolognese was good, but not extraordinary. Amazing view of the ocean

Molto Bello!!! This was a favorite place of our stop in Cinque Terre!! We started with the Caprese!! Oh so fresh!!! Then we had the first course pasta bolognese and pasta di mare. Both were fantastic!! We then had the fried calamari and the seafood mixed grill. They were both marvelous!!! We had an I cerri local wine that paired exceptionally well!! Finally we finished with limon sorbet and limoncello in season. Phenomenal!!! What a delicious lunch!!!

Amazing lunch experience in Cinque Terre. This delicious seafood platter was also amazingly affordable. Super friendly staff, spoke english, and was very accomandating. The stewed octopus was very tender and well prepared. This dish had a whole lobster, shrimp, an octopus, loaded with mussels, and a hearty piece of fish. It was a wonderful lunch experience in a picturesque setting. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially during lunchtime!

Wonderful staff, food and location. The train noise was at first a little troubling but you are safe. MUST MAKE RESERVATIONS

Amazing service, great fresh seafood. I had the squid which was fresh and extremely tender. Others had the fish which they loved and enjoyed. We saw a table have the seafood soup which looked delicious so we have made a following booking to try that. Overall, 10/10, such a quiet evening but deserves all the hype whilst being such readable price.

Italian restaurant
EMY'S WAY Ristorantino Frizzeria is a charming restaurant with quick service and delicious food. The margherita pizza was described as perfection, while the spaghetti with clams had great flavors despite being a little salty. The olives in the salad were a favorite, and the portions were just right for two people. The owner's personal involvement in serving tables created a magnetic atmosphere due to his energy and enthusiasm.
Leaving this for future GLUTEN FREE travelers. All of their salads are GF and delicious and pretty, not boring. The filet fish of the day is gluten free and they said a couple other things too but I forgot what they were. The pasta and the pizza is not gluten free. I wanted something light so I got the Caprese Salad and it was so tasty. Affordable and cute spot too.

One of the best Italian meals we've had in Monterosso del Mare! The pesto pasta was fresh and full of flavor. The spaghetti vongole was perfectly cooked with fresh seafood, and the ravioli had a delicate texture with a rich filling. The ambiance truly captures the essence of an authentic Italian restaurant. You can clearly taste the chef’s passion in every dish. Highly recommended for anyone seeking real Italian cuisine.

Came here after our 2+ mile hike from Vernazza to Monterossa. Was ravenous and the food did not disappoint! I got their sausage and fresh mozzarella pizza which was perfectly executed. I left no slices left being 😉 my sister had the pesto pasta in which she highly recommends as well.

Belforte is a renowned restaurant in Vernazza, one of the picturesque Cinque Terre villages. Nestled among vineyards and olive groves, this traditional Ligurian restaurant has been serving delectable seafood and locally grown vegetable dishes for over 50 years. Perched on the cliffs with breathtaking views of the Mediterranean sea, Belforte offers an unforgettable dining experience.
I think this was the best food we’ve had on the trip! Waiter was so funny and personable, and his suggestions were fantastic. Super cautious for allergens too, we felt very safe. And the view was unbeatable!

We did not have a reservation during the dinner rush and in just a few minutes we had a table on the upper level with the most magical view. Five of us ate here yesterday on October 2, 2025. I made the reservation the day before on their website and I got an email identifying that a deposit of €15 per person was required before it could be confirmed. It also said that a separate email would be sent along with a bill so that I could pay the deposit. Unfortunately, I never got that billing email, but I had hoped that the reservation was still in place because the reservation was made on such short notice. As you may have guessed already, when we got there they did not have a table reserved for us. I showed them the email I received with all of the details listed, but she told me that it was simply a request and that it was not a real confirmation until the deposit was made. I told her that I never got an email asking for the deposit and she just shrugged and told me that she would see what she could do. Thankfully, they managed to get us a table with a nice view, so I am only providing this information as a caution to others to ensure that they reach out to them if the billing email never arrives. Please know that this deposit is only required for groups larger than four people. In order to get to the restaurant you have to climb a steep set of stairs that should not be too difficult unless you have mobility issues. The service and views are wonderful, and the food was good, but not great. It is also a bit more expensive than other restaurants in Italy for what you get, but I think that it is inherent when dining in such a tourist area. As an example, we got a Bruschette starter and it has three fairly large pieces of bruschette and I believe the price was €18. All of the seating is outside and has some sort of view of the water or harbor. They do have an indoor dining area, but it does not look like they seat people there as there is zero view of the sea. Overall, it was a good experience and I would say it is worth the visit!

Perfect. Not a tourist trap. You may fear that, given the perfect location. It is a fine restaurant. Delicious food. Great wine. Charming service. The location and view are spectacular. Take the standard staircase with steps up. Not the ramp. Once up at the dining level, you then walk around and then down one flight to a meaningfully sized interior room. This is where you will find the host with the reservation list. Reservations are highly recommended and they are only taken over the phone. If you don’t speak Italian, you can rehearse a simple script ahead of time. I spelled it out phonetically. Easy. If you are lucky, you will get Andrea as your waiter. He is extremely knowledgable and charming. We were given a very special table. We enjoyed a leisurely two hour lunch of three courses with an amazing view and cooling breezes. Highly recommended.

A fantastic restaurant, and probably the best we dined at during our trip to Italy. The food was fantastic, the wines were very good (I recommend trying the local Cinque Terre wine), and the staff were brilliant and could not do enough for us. I highly recommend sitting outside, if the weather permits - the view over Vernazza's harbour is second to none. Note that I'd recommend booking in advance, and a 15-EUR pp deposit is required for this, but it's worth it without a doubt.
David K — Google review
I had the warm seafood salad as a starter and the tuna with grilled vegetables for the main course. For dessert, I chose tiramisu – and it was absolutely the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve tasted many tiramisus around the world. We enjoyed both the house white and red wines, and they were a perfect match for the meal. The whole experience was exquisite – from the flavors to the atmosphere. Definitely book a table in advance if you want to discover tastes you’ve never experienced before.

Restaurant
Ristorante L'Ancora della Tortuga is a charming clifftop venue with a nautical theme and stunning sea views. Nestled in a World War II bunker on the cliffside, this restaurant offers traditional Ligurian cuisine, including homemade pasta dishes and seafood specialties. The seven-course tasting menu is a popular choice, while the spaghettini with anchovies and beef filet with lardo di Colonnata are highly recommended.
Start with the view. We had al fresco seating right at the waters edge (on a cliff, of course). This is how it starts. And then it just gets better. We were a larger group, so we had several of the menu options. Some of us split with others, some just shared. The risotto with prawn was wonderful, and the scallops were amazing. Wines were very good too :) I took a star off the service only because this dining area is up stairs from the restaurant itself. The waitstaff gets a lot of step climbing in running up and down. But there were periods of time where no staff was available if something was needed and they really just need one more person to make it perfect.

We had a tremendous experience there. Sadly it was a Saturday and they didn’t have a place for us on the GORGEOUS terrace, but we found the inside very rustic, clean and charming. Service was excellent, they even had a high chair for our baby (the cleanest we’ve seen on our trip) and the staff was extremely helpful with us. The food itself was also excellent, we had 2 pasta dishes that were among the best we tried on our trip. The nonna’s truffle tagliatelle was quite memorable. Highly recommend, but make sure to have a reservation to get the view as a bonus!!

We celebrated my wife’s birthday at L’Ancora della Tortuga in Monterosso al Mare and had an exceptional experience from start to finish. Our hotel recommended the restaurant, and we are so glad they did. The staff could not have been more professional or accommodating. Our waiter, Filippo, provided truly top-notch service, attentive, kind, and perfectly paced. We asked for a local white wine and the team selected a blend that was one of the best we have ever had. Dinner was outstanding. We followed the staff’s recommendations and started with the foie gras, the best I have ever tasted. I did not know it could be that good. For mains, we enjoyed the evening’s special seafood spaghetti and a pesto risotto with shrimp, both cooked perfectly and bursting with fresh, delicate flavor. They even brought out a dessert with a candle for my wife to blow out, which made the evening even more special. We were also able to meet and thank the chef for the wonderful meal, a generous touch that meant a lot to us. Between the stunning cliffside setting, the impeccable service, the unforgettable food and wine, and the warm hospitality, this was a meal we will be talking about for years. Highly recommend.
Scott M — Google review
We had high expectations for our meal here but in the end was disappointed, especially given the Michelin recommendation. It started well enough with the bread service - they had a popover type bread that was delicious. Asked for sparkling wine by the glass but the first two they were out of. Then tried for three different red wines by the glass and they were out of those too. Ordered pasta with mushrooms and no cheese but it came covered in cheese and had to send it back. When it came back it was buried in butter. My wife’s anchovies and my Ligan fish course were really tasty so that was great. The servers were working their butts off but they had way too many tables to cover per person so a lot of waiting around. An incredible location by the seaside - very romantic. Just didn’t come together - can clearly see the potential - just not their night.
Andrew K — Google review
Amazing location — sadly it was too windy so we had to sit inside, but the outdoor seating overlooking the view must be incredible on a calmer day. We ordered the shrimp risotto, which was outstanding, and the seafood pasta, which was good as well but not as exceptional as the risotto. For dessert we had the chocolate cake, which was delicious. Highly recommend this place!
Ines C — Google review
Beautiful views and great food! Seafood pasta (special) was delicious. Great flavor and freshness from the seafood. The basil cream pesto risotto was one of the best pestos we had in Italy. Unfortunately our night got cut short by a ton of flies flying all over. Hundreds would land on us and the food. It was super annoying. We decided to forgo the second course and leave early. The tables around us did the same. Such a shame our meal was cut short but it was crazy how bad it was. 100% reservation required. Food is pretty expensive since you pay for the view
Pat Z — Google review
The location and restaurant incredibly beautiful. Unfortunately, for this restaurant that definitely got motion star two years ago. I understand why they haven’t gotten one since. The front of the house was very disorganized and to me seem like a bunch of teenagers. They really have very little experience and food service. The food was amazing, which is really sad because it just shows you how that less than excellent service can really affect your entire impression of a place no matter how beautiful it is and how good the food is. The owner really needs to invest in some quality in front of our staff and this place could excel.

Beach
Scoglio di Monterosso is a stunning rock formation located in Monterosso al Mare, offering a picturesque backdrop against the azure waters. It's considered one of the best spots for Instagram-worthy photos in Cinque Terre. The beach itself boasts lovely blue waters, perfect for a refreshing swim on hot summer days. However, most of the beach is privately owned and requires renting umbrellas and chairs, which can be quite pricey during peak season.
Monterosso is a beautiful beach with stunning views and clear water, perfect for a relaxing day by the sea. However, be aware that there can be quite a few jellyfish in the water. If you feel a sting or burning sensation, don’t hesitate to get help from the lifeguards—they’re very attentive and quick to assist. Despite this, it’s still a fantastic place to enjoy the beach!

Absolute heaven! What a dream! Just steps from the train station, this stunning beach is your instant ticket to relaxation. Crystal-clear waters meet dramatic cliffs, creating postcard perfect views that will leave you in awe. For just €10, you can rent a comfy chair and umbrella, a total steal for a full day of sun-soaked bliss. But the real magic happens at sunset, when the sky paints itself in warm hues. Pure serenity!

The most beautiful beach of Cinque Terre. The best beach for swimming. The best beach to enjoy! The view is nice. The water is clean... There are private huts/umbrellas and chair for people who want to pay and enjoy. And also there are free public beaches. There are shower rooms and changing rooms. You can have. A really nice time here with a good view. Must visit this beach and enjoy swimming.

Are you serious? We crashed later in the afternoon, and it was already the beginning of the evening—the sun had almost gone down, and people were busier drinking. Instead, we stayed at the beach, and to be honest, I have never seen such transparent water in my life!

Beach is beautiful but it's private and the staff is extremely rude and loud (especially the black guy) and follow you and chase you away if you walk around and don't have a sunbed reserved. Can't even leave a towel or anything on the beach even though a beach is open for all by law. They also refuse to rent out sunbeds even though there are several empty ones that have been empty for hours. Very disappointing and uninviting experience overall.

Monterosso public beach, also known as Fegina Beach, is the largest and most luxurious beach in Cinque Terre. It features a long shoreline with umbrellas, lounge chairs, and clear blue waters. The beach offers amenities such as lounger rentals, souvenir shops, and terrace bars. While some areas require an extra fee for chairs and umbrellas, there are free sections where visitors can lay down towels on the soft sand.
The beach is just amazing! We wanted to swim but didn’t have time. We only walked down and ate seafood near the beach entrance. The water was so clean and blue and cold. It was really hot in june. Highly recommended dreamy place

There’s a mix of free and paid areas, and renting a lounger can make the experience more relaxing. It gets crowded in summer, but early mornings or late afternoons are ideal. Amenities like showers, lockers, and snack bars add convenience. Great for swimming, sunbathing, or just soaking in the lively coastal vibe.

Beautiful, clean, and scenic beach with crystal-clear water and a relaxing atmosphere. There’s a free public area as well as paid sections with additional services. Sunbeds are available for rent.
Emil V — Google review
Had such a great experience at Fegina Beach in Monterosso. I rented a beach chair and umbrella for 25 euro (about $40 CAD) and it was totally worth it. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I was a bit nervous about leaving my bag while I went for a swim, but they assured me it would be safe and kept an eye out. The beach also has change rooms, bathrooms, showers, and lockers which made the whole experience super convenient. Beautiful spot, great vibes. Definitely a 5-star experience and I highly recommend it.
Danielle — Google review
Beautiful and the water gorgeous for swimming! It’s popular as it’s an easily accessible beach for swimming. Worth the short walk around the corner to the next beach for a delightful dip too!
Tracey B — Google review
The biggest beach in the Cinque Terre area. Most of it covered with chairs and umbrellas. There are only two places where you can put your own towel: near the train station (this one has a restroom nearby) and near the giant figure (West side).
Barbara D — Google review
Large public beach in downtown Monterosso with access to a free sandy beach area and also an area where you can rent an umbrella and 2 sunbeds for 40 euro (June 2025). The beach is large so there is space to spread out with access to the water all along the beach. The water is crystal clear and just beautiful.

Loved this beach. Must go and stay all day. We got there 0900. Able to get a position in the front of the beach. For all day and very affordable. July 12, 2025

Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Parrocchia di S. Giovanni Battista is a 14th-century Catholic church located in Cinque Terre, Italy. The Gothic-style facade of the church showcases alternating black and white marble stripes, as well as a large circular window adorned with delicate lace-like details. As one of the oldest churches in the region, it boasts an impressive interior featuring an intricately designed marble floor that leads up to an ornate altar.
A stunning 800 year old church found in the back streets of Monterosso. The gorgeous combination of black and white stones used to create the outside stripes of the building are said by some to represent both good and evil. The inside is modestly decorated with marble.

A striking church in the heart of Monterosso’s old town. Its black and white striped facade stands out immediately, a fine example of Ligurian Gothic architecture. Inside, the atmosphere is quiet and cool, with high arches, ornate altars, and soft light filtering through stained glass. It’s a peaceful place to step out of the sun, reflect, and appreciate the town’s deep roots. A must-see for anyone exploring Monterosso’s historical side.
E P — Google review
Impressive beautiful church in the heart of the old city of Monterosso. With the narrow streets it is hard to see the full structure but the inside is beautiful. Two small side chapels with a baptismal fountain line the sides of the church, with a large altar covered by an amazing chandelier structure. The church is small but worth a short visit.

In the heart of old town of Monteresso. The Church is old but well maintained. usually it is open of touristic people free of charges.

📍 Parrocchia di San Giovanni Battista – Italy 🇮🇹 A peaceful parish church ⛪ dedicated to St. John the Baptist, often found at the heart of the local community. The architecture is simple yet elegant 🏛️, with a calm interior ideal for prayer 🙏 and reflection 🌿. Depending on the location, some have beautiful frescoes 🎨, altars, and bell towers that add charm to the surrounding piazza. Not a major tourist attraction, but a welcoming stop if you’re strolling through town 🚶‍♂️ and want to see authentic local heritage.

This church is located in one of the 5 Cinque Terres, the Monterosso which is one is probably the biggest and has the most souvenir/shopping around. Personally I find this to be my favourite amongst the 5.
SL W — Google review
The St. John the Baptist Church (Chiesa San Giovanni Battista) is extraordinary by its age (almost 800 years) and style - Ligurian Gothic with black and white stripped facade. When you're inside, the black and white stripped columns and squares on the floor turn into an almost hypnotic image. The black and white style was trendy in middle age Genoan architecture and preferred by the very rich nobles. Besides, the black and white combination may well symbolize the duality of life and death or good and evil as in other cultures.

Beautiful church that, unlike many we visited, actually had holy water available. We could see and here the bells from our hotel room.

Il Piccolo Diavolo is a great Italian restaurant located in the heart of Monterosso al Mare. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, with plenty of options for both starters and main courses. It's also a lovely place to eat, with highchairs available and wheelchair access easily achieved.
This restaurant delivers exactly what you want in Monterosso al mare: great food, smooth service, and no stressful lines! While smaller spots have hour-long queues, this spacious venue seats you quickly without sacrificing quality. Must-orders: Their trofie al pesto and the anchovies starter are mouthwatering.
Oussama T — Google review
Seeing Pasta al Pomodoro on the menu my partner and I, both being vegetarian, decided to stop in for dinner. I ordered the Pasta al Pomodoro and thought the sauce was very good, nice light flavor. The wide flat pasta was very good. My partner ordered the Trofie al Pesto which was a bit too starchy. Overall, not bad food, quite loud area with the street right outside.
Jamie W — Google review
Food was good, specially the pesto pasta, oh so tasty ! The others foods we ordered were ok. Note that this has a cover charge of €2.50 per person. The pastas were overall much better than the other dishes. Prices are I felt a bit touristy, but can’t help it, it’s cinque terre.
Jason J — Google review
Wow the food was phenomenal. And the restaurant had a cute vibe. Amazing!
ML — Google review
Lovely. We started with the chef's antipasto platter, which had some very tasty cheeses and meats, and a lovely bottle of local red wine for only 15 euros. Our mains: pizza Marinara + pizza Margherita were fine, but the pasta was lovely (ragout/Bolognese). Followed by an amazing lemon dessert and the homemade pannacotta. After that, the best coffee (espresso) we had tasted in a while! Limoncello was also perfect ending to our meals.
Yvonne D — Google review
Delicious food. Great service. We had the Ragu and Salmon & Lime pasta. Friend anchovies to share.
Li C — Google review
Amazing Italian food. The flavors were top notch. Particularly impressed with the ligura style flat pasta, cooked in pesto sauce. Try their seafood dishes, particularly dishes with anchovies as it is a Monterosso specialty. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Food may be a bit oily, so if oil is not your thing, remember to request them to reduce the oil levels. Portions were large and worth every euros. Be aware that this place charges €2 per person for the bread and coperto (service charge). Table service was well worth it in our opinions.

a bit expensive and the pizza was tasty but had too much cheese. that made it very heavy and I felt pretty bloated and tired afterwards. service was good. the atmosphere suffers a little from the loud air condition.

Santuario Nostra Signora di Soviore is a centuries-old religious complex located about 4 km from Monterosso, in the picturesque setting of Cinque Terre. Founded in the 14th century with contributions from local residents, it has become a pilgrimage destination and continues to attract visitors and devotees. The beautiful church houses a valuable historical organ Agati and hosts concerts.
We had a reeeally good time here! The atmosphere is simply amazing.. I ca not put it into words.. It's like you are in another Italy.. an old one, without tourists or loud noises. The rooms are a bit retro, but if you are not expect 5 stars then its nice. BUT the most important: the food is perfect!!! And I ate there my best tiramisu ever! We will deffinetly come back :-)

Cool experience staying in a sanctuary. Rooms are spacious yet very simple, but have all you need for a comfortable night. The place has a bar and a restaurant on site that serves delicious food (we had the best tuna steak ever). Breakfast is continental with plenty of options of savoury and sweet. Coffee could be improved, but you can get a proper one from the cafe.

Arrived after walking the trail from Monterosso to find peace, tranquility and a warm welcome. Food and drinks are very reasonable and the tirrasimu is delicious. We've returned each year for three years and are looking forward to the next .

Great view. You can hike up but it’s 3 km hike with 450m elevation from the train station. The trail is clearly marked.
Kui C — Google review
Great view, food variety is big and quality really good (was not expected so), staff is friendly, location is magnificient. But rooms sre very very simple, no fan / AC in the rooms, too noisy at night since guest are just outside and eating/ drinking sometimes until midnight. Free parking 50m from hotel. Breakfast is really poor, but enough for most of us ;) Coffee quality qould have been better. No coffee machine.
F. S — Google review
The scenery is beautiful with a gorgeous view and the setting is charming. The rooms are spacious and very quiet. We enjoyed the breakfast and dinner, and the service was friendly and helpful. The only drawback was the distance from town. Generally, the free shuttle service works fine, however, if you ever want to return later than 6pm, or say you arrive to the hotel after 9am and want to explore that day, the taxi fees quickly add up at 25eu each way. All of the drivers also FLEW up and down the steep and windy roads, making some of us quite motion sick. Still, I'd say this place is a great value.
Annie A — Google review
Nice view but rooms are only good to sleep, nothing else. Bathroom was stinky. It was cold and no heating. They have a shuttle that takes you to the center, which you need to reserve (only way to go down, unless you want to pay €25 each time on a taxi) but it only goes 1 time down early and then come back around 6 pm. So, can't really enjoy night time with the family down in the city or enjoy a restaurant if you are doing any excursions or boat ride. They have a restaurant but food is not as cheap and they do not have that many options. The old lady at the front who is not very friendly and have an attitude, asked us to give her our room key when we went out. Never seemed a place who does that.
Anyelina N — Google review
This place is quite an experience. Rooms are very basic, nothing luxurious, however the sense of tranquility and peace that you experience at this place is incredible. The food in this place in INCREDIBLE….everything is home made. If you like hiking there is an amazing trail in the property that will take you to Monterrosso-cinque terre. The service is amazing! Everyone in this place is so friendly. The location is very strategic to travel to Cinque Terre. If you are not an experienced driver …DO NOT DRIVE these roads, they are very narrow, scary and dark at night. If you decide to dive you can park your car at one of the parking lots there for 20€ a day or 2.50€ an hour. Super convenient!

La Cantina Del Pescatore is a wine bar located in Monterosso al Mare, Liguria, Italy. The bar offers a variety of wines and snacks such as bruschetta and pesto. The wine list is extensive and the staff is friendly and welcoming.
Great food, very attentive service and a cute little store with regional goods. We had the stuffed Foccacia Liguria with Mozzarella, salad, tomatos and pesto and the bruschette number 2 with tomato, mozzarella buffala, homemade pesto und olive oil from the winter card. The freshly pressed orange juice was super refreshing. Super happy we found this place, 10/10 absolutely do recommend.

Great gluten free option! The server offered gluten free focaccia sandwiches. I enjoyed a delicious sandwich with an iced latte and a glass of local wine. They did warn me that there could be cross contamination. My dad had regular bruschetta and really enjoyed it.

Went here for breakfast every day, the food took about 5-10 min to come out and prices were cheap, the place was not too busy either like some of the spots on the main road, would suggest going here for a quick delicious meal. Service was very good and the people were very nice.

Fantastic shop and restaurant in Monterosso! Simone and Veronica are absolutely wonderful shop owners. Their lemonade slushy is hands down the best I’ve ever had—so refreshing and flavorful! They also take great care in wrapping all products in bubble wrap to ensure they travel safely. Highly recommended for both the experience and the service!

This is a proper restaurant and wine bar! You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The stuffed focaccia sandwiches are scrumptious when toasted. The brushetta is smooth and fresh. The spritzes are so so strong that one or two should get you buzzed. Prices are more than reasonable, and it helps that they aren't on the direct main road. Staff is super nice and does speak English. Try to buy a bottle and enjoy it at your home or open it in the restaurant.

Pastry shop
Pasticceria Bar Laura, located at Via Vittorio Emanuele 59, is a charming spot to start your day with a delightful breakfast of cappuccino or freshly squeezed orange juice paired with a delicious fresh pastry. The must-try local specialty here is the Torta Monterossina, an original recipe served since 1966. The cafe offers covered outdoor seating and friendly English-speaking staff.
Pasticceria Bar Laura is a sweet little stop just off the main street, and their Monterossina is not to be missed-rich, custardy, and perfectly paired with a strong doppio caffè. It's a classic Ligurian treat that tastes even better when you're watching the village come to life around you. A great way to start the day or take a break from exploring.

Torta Monterossina was perfection. The apple pastry I could take or leave but this chocolate cream pie, whilst still hot was utterly delicious. I had one the second day when it wasn’t warm out of the oven so I definitely recommend going early as the taste was superior. Naturally I went back the third day just to be sure. It’s pretty much the only bakery around and it opens super early. In fact staying across the street all the baking woke me super early but I’ll forgive them for that gooey delicious cake
Foodie M — Google review
Nice little cafe located in Monterosso. All the food looks to be baked directly across the street. If you’re lucky you can see the people making the pasta and pastries. One thing not to kiss here is the famous Monterosso Pie. A delicious mix of custard with some chocolate. Pairs perfectly with an espresso. Have a seat oit the front and people watch.

We loved this place for caffe in the morning and spritz pre-dinner. Easy to grab and go, or sit and chill. Great for l’appertivo! We came every day we were in Monterrosso. They also have yummy looking baked goods but we didn’t try those. Many people did and it looked good! We highly recommend this for a super chill spot.

Lapo's³ Restaurant, Pizza & Drink in Monterosso Al Mare is a popular spot that comes highly recommended for its delicious food and friendly service. The restaurant offers a broad selection of wine and serves amazing dishes such as the best octopus, stuffed calamari, fries seafood, and the pinnacle of pizza perfection. Visitors can enjoy their meals outside under the trees or grab a quick bite like a fantastic margarita pizza or seafood pasta.
Great food, great setting and great service--I'm really surprised this restaurant doesn't get a higher rating! I dined here upon the recommendation of my hotel receptionist, and I'm so happy I did, because it turned out to be one of my favorite restaurants in Monterosso (and the only restaurant I visited more than once during my five days there). All the dishes I ordered were beautifully presented and tasted as good as they looked. The seared prawns and mini polenta cakes in avocado lemon sauce featured a very creative and successful pairing of ingredients. I've tried many different versions of squid ink pasta in Venice and Sicily, but the one at Lapo's, with zucchini and croutons, was unique and incredibly delicious. The stuffed squid with foccacia was also by far the best stuffed squid I've ever had. I look forward to returning to Lapo's upon my next visit to Monterosso!
Stephanie S — Google review
Awesome location for lunch! Ordered a caprese salad (tomatoes and mozzarella), which was excellent. Followed that up with a pizza with spicy salami, sausage and onions. The pizza was also very good. A lot of pizza around these parts is built on top of focaccia bread, which isn't what appeals to us. This place offers thin crust pizza, which was great. One thing about pizza here is it is very soggy in the middle of the pie. All the toppings fall off. But, it does taste awesome with the great, fresh ingredients available here.

I visited Lapo’s Restaurant several times during my holiday in Monterosso, and each time the experience was excellent. 🍴 The food was always delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. The staff is very friendly and attentive to details, which makes the visit even more enjoyable. The atmosphere is pleasant, both outside on the terrace, where you can enjoy the sea breeze, and inside, simple but nice. A place where you feel welcome and one that’s worth coming back to whenever you’re in Cinque Terre. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This place was great! Don't let the one star reviews fool you. Our server was so kind and patient with us Americans, the service was fast, and we got a free limoncello at the end! We had a party of four, and we all got different things from the menu and dessert menu, so we all got to try lots of things and everything was delicious. I'm convinced that you could order any meal or dessert from the menu and be very happy with it.

Beautiful location with outside seating on a terraced patio. The food was actually good too. I ordered the Margherita Pizza and thought the flavors were quite good. The crust is crispy and fresh, the tomato sauce is thin and full of flavor, the cheese is amazing. Overall, great pizza. My partner ordered the Fergina Salad and was not impressed. The Fergina is a green salad with carrots, balsamic vinegar, fennel, green apple and walnuts. The green salad part is mostly arugula and red cabbage, there was no green apple in the salad and maybe 3-4 pieces of walnut. Not impressed for the price. They offer their own bottled olive oil for the salad and the pizza which has a very light flavor compared to some other restaurants in Monterosso. Overall, not a bad meal, love sitting outside on the terrace. Service was fine.

Nuovo Eden Bar & Gelateria is a beachside bar located on the main road, offering stunning views of the beach. While the main meals are a bit pricier due to the scenic location, it's worth it for the breathtaking view. The bar opens at 9 AM and offers fair prices and efficient service throughout the day. Visitors can enjoy delicious local food such as pasta, pesto, bruschetta, and stuffed mussels while taking in the seaside view.
This is probably the most touristic bar restaurant of Monterosso, it has the best view that you can enjoy while you eating, just before the ferry come and pick you up to take as Le you home. It is full of tourist but I don my mind, as the food is good and the atmosphere also. You are on holiday after all so even if crowded, who care. Monterosso is such a nice place. You cannot expect top service and cheap dishes when I’d do busy like summer. I have been back here several times

This has to be the best pasta dish ive had in Italy. The pasta, i assume, is freshly made and was al dente and had a good chew to it. The mussels were packed with a meat/rice? stuffing, fully absorbed the tomato stew flavours. The most interesting one was the circular rolled pasta with different sauces. I've never tried something like this before and it was a pleasant surprise.
SL W — Google review
I wasn't expecting much given the previous reviews, but we had a good experience - would give 4.5 if I could. Anybody giving a 1 star review needs to have a good look at themselves. It's not the Savoy Grill, it's a tourist place, in a tourist town, and you are not as special as you think you are. Very busy but fresh food, served quickly, and with good humour, at perfectly reasonable prices. The location adds to it, just beautiful.
James E — Google review
This beachside gelateria offers a wide range of flavors, from classic stracciatella to refreshing fruit sorbets. We ordered multiple scoops during our visit—some creamy, some fruity—and each one hit the spot. Whether you’re fresh off the beach or just strolling through town, it’s the kind of treat that feels earned. The texture was consistently smooth, and the flavors were bold without being overly sweet. Even the fruit-based options had a nice balance, which made them a great pick for warmer afternoons. The view of the sea adds to the charm, especially if you grab a seat facing the water. It’s casual and laid-back, with a mix of locals and tourists passing through. Service can be hit-or-miss during peak hours—sometimes quick, sometimes a little scattered—but the gelato itself makes up for it. If you’re not in a rush, it’s a great spot to pause, cool off, and soak in the Monterosso vibe. Definitely worth a stop, especially if you’re exploring the promenade or waiting for the ferry.

Best views of Monterosso for a good price! 💫🙏🏼 Service is not bad at all and the food was really tasty! We had Pasta pesto, Pasta of the day, Caprese sallad, theee types of bruschetta, one coke and one cappuccino. For ~60 EUR. Only dissappointment where the portion- sacks of olive oil, balsamico and salt. But hey, who cares when the view is breath taking and you left not hungry anymore 😍! ❤️

I went here three times in a two night trip it was so nice lol. I had nighttime gelato and there was no wait. I came here for breakfast twice and was happy with the cappuccino and brioche. The brioche alla crema is lemon cream. The view is great if you eat on the patio.

Really friendly staff who were accommodating to our large group with complex orders. The focaccias are good and they do excellent coffee. Also the views from the terrace are stunning!

Expensive tourist trap spot with the cool view to draw you in. Portions are small and food is not very good. Service was poor and they tried to charge for the olive oil packet for the cold bread they gave us. Would not recommend and would suggest to dine elsewhere. The Frappe milkshakes were good, however.
