The Needles Landmark Attraction in Alum Bay is a family-friendly destination with a variety of activities for visitors of all ages. From the unique chairlift offering stunning views of the iconic Needles Rocks and Trinity Lighthouse to sand filling shops, adventure golf, boat trips, and a traditional carousel, there's something for everyone. Visitors can also explore artisan offerings at the Alum Bay Glass Studio and Isle of Wight Sweet Manufactory.
Everyone should see this point at least once if you are in England. It's a good place. Very good vibe. The beach is beautiful. The landmark is unique. Weekends are too crowded though. The boat ride is much recommended. They tell the history and geography of the place very nicely. You get good views.
Ashi M — Google review
The Needles Landmark Attraction is absolutely worth visiting – a true highlight of the Isle of Wight! The views are breathtaking, and the chairlift ride is an unforgettable experience, offering stunning sights of the cliffs, sea, and the famous Needles. It’s something everyone should try at least once. There are a couple of small areas that could be improved. The food section could offer a bit more variety and quality, and clearer signage for the beach path (especially placed above the queue area) would make things easier for visitors. That said, the chairlifts themselves were excellent – smooth, safe, and such a unique way to take in the scenery. Overall, a fantastic attraction that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the Isle of Wight. Don’t miss it!

The Needles Landmark Attraction is an amazing place to visit with stunning views and plenty to enjoy for all ages. The cable car ride down to the beach is absolutely breathtaking, offering panoramic views of the cliffs, sea, and the iconic Needles rocks. The attractions and shops are fun and family-friendly, and the area is well organized with great facilities. The mix of natural beauty and adventure makes it a perfect day out. A must-see experience when visiting the Isle of Wight — unforgettable and worth every moment!

We went in a bank holiday. Narrow roads leading to the site along with many coaches and cars. We paid £6 for the car park and disabled were allowed to park at the bottom on the field but it was still a mobility navigation issue getting down to the main road. It was very busy. We walked through there gates and had an ice cream with flake. There were many tables with seating but these were mainly full with people eating the various foods (curry was in the air) and picnics. As we walked through the site along- the chair lifts were on the right and the queue to get in was vast. We stood on the platform at the end overlooking the needles . We don’t use the telescope but the pictures bought it closer. For us it was hot and crowded and we stayed about 1.5hrs. Makes the parking expensive . Didn’t know about the boat trip.
Janet S — Google review
Lots of fun for the whole family. Recommend a ride on the chair lift to Alum Bay where you will find the beautiful coloured sands. There are steps down to the beach. You can also get a boat to The Needles to see them from the sea. There are cafes, shops, crazy golf and rides to go on.
Karen A — Google review
You have to visit The Needles when you come to Isle of Wight! We loved our The Needles visit! We paid £10 each for return tickets for the chairlift option to get down to the small Needles beach! Totally worth it saves us from climbing up and down the steep staircase! And then when we got to the bottom of the beach, we paid another extra £9 each for a 20mins boat ride which is also another must do, the boat guide was excellent and very knowledgeable on the whole of the needles landmark!
Bleubirdy99 — Google review
Fab place, well worth a visit. The chair lift to the beach & the slow boat to The Needles is well worth it. Very friendly & knowledgeable staff. Ice cream at the top too, perfect.
Gavin M — Google review
Parked in the large Landmark car park...£6 a day....though by the afternoon we noticed people just parking for free. The site is more like an amusement arcade...coffee was the worst we had had for ages. Reason we visited was firstly to use the chair lift to the beach. That alone was well worth visiting for. £20 return for the two of us. However there are steps up and down so you could take the lift back up. The beach was beautiful and there are several boat trips available to the Needles. The other reason was so we could walk up to the Needles Fort....about a mile up a gradual slope. This is the nearest you can get to the fort unless you catch the hourly bus or need to take disabled family/friends.

The National Trust's Needles Old Battery, dating back to 1862, offers visitors a chance to explore recreated rooms, an underground tunnel, and original guns. Perched above the iconic Needles Rocks, it provides stunning views of the geological formation. The tea-room in an old look-out tower serves refreshments with dramatic vistas of the rocks and Dorset in the distance.
The Needles Old Battery feels like a lookout post at the edge of the world. The views are amazing, though it must have been quite a lonely place to live. The exhibition is great, with a mix of history and scenery. Don’t miss the underground observation room. The long, dark passage leading to it is a bit spooky but worth it. And be sure to walk up the slope to the rooftop. The sea view on the other side is just as stunning!
Issac — Google review
The only way I know how to access it is a long walk, but I think a public bus may drop off outside (saw a few green ones). I personally think its a bit expensive to get in, but once inside its immaculate so you see where the money goes. I liked the comic book style drawings, the tunnel and getting a whole feel for the place. The only thing I'd say is if you intend to walk there, and see both the old and new battery allow plenty of time, because the new battery shuts at 4pm old battery 5pm so we hadn't allowed enough time to do both. Definitely nip into the cafe at the old battery as the coffee and cakes were amazing.
Kevin W — Google review
Love a National Trust, and if you are doing Tennyson Down it is definitely worth stopping by the Old Fort. I really liked how they have restored parts of the site and brought it to life. It is not very big so it does not take long to go around, but it is nice to wander through and the views of the Needles are amazing and were the real highlight. They also have a tea room, which to be honest was not that great, a bit of a shame given how lovely some other National Trust tea rooms are. It could have been something really charming like the one at the lighthouse in Dorset. The walk to the fort was another highlight and is so beautiful with lots of wildlife. A really stunning area.

an incredible couple of hours spent here. We got a return on the cable car, £10 per adult. Really good price. Had beautiful views of the ocean coming down, we then went straight onto the boat ride, again incredibly priced. 20 mins out to sea and a view of the needles, beautiful sights. We were lucky enough to have stunning weather. Cable car back up to the top after a lovely walk along the beach and then made our sand jars and played crazy golf. Hasn't changed since I came when I was little.
Kerrie S — Google review
It took about 30 min with kids to wander along to here from the car park (tell them you’re an NT member for £2 off). Did it on a hot and sunny day but lovely views on the way and from the battery. Interesting displays and the tunnel down is cool, if not pretty narrow! Place to get a coffee and plenty of places to sit and eat a picnic. Worth a visit especially if an NT member.
Chris D — Google review
Great history about the Fort listed. I recommend a visit if you go. Not too expensive to get in but it is a national trust place so it's a must do if you have a membership. Very windy when I went so be prepared when walking along the cliff top. There is an enclosed walk way to a view advantage point inside the cliff, at some points this is narrow so I wouldn't recommend if you are claustrophobic
Hannah — Google review
A bit of a walk from the 'Needles Attraction' but it's on a fairly level road. There's not much at the Old Battery but it's worth a look if you're a NT member. Probably not worth the entrance if not. If you pick a decent day, the views are spectacular though.

Very interesting area to visit, you can walk but I recommend taking the open top bus to get there - great views. There is a cafe and shop.

Dimbola Museum & Galleries is a captivating art and photography gallery located in the former home of renowned Victorian photographer Julia Margaret Cameron. The museum celebrates Cameron's early work and her connections with influential figures like Alfred, Lord Tennyson and Lewis Carroll. Visitors can explore exhibitions by local and national photographers as well as a standing display on the history of the Isle of Wight Pop Festival. It offers a serene yet compelling experience for those interested in photography, art, and Victorian history.
We loved it, sat outside with Coffee, tea & flapjacks. Service very good, then rain so inside again & found a lovely table for two. The interior is tastefully decorated with period style wallpaper, paint, flooring & fixtures & fittings. Excellent location for a walk on Tennyson downs.Staff were polite, helpful & friendly. Lovely museum shop filled with some very nice items at good prices.

A mecca visit to the historical house of photography and books, with a fantastic tea room too. Went with friends in the VW van, Hendrix adorned to one side, Hendrix statue in the grounds too. Punk Rock week, Photography of the era, visited the field, a Woodstock of the 1970s. People paid to get in, while the hill side looking down on the stage must have been way out, chilling, listening and smoking the day away to Hendrix and the like....just a great site and historical value kept alive by the children of today, well mid sixties, but to others keeping it alive...love n peace ✌🏻
Keith W — Google review
Pleasant museum, best for people with a strong interest in portrait photography. The house is a beautiful example of Victorian architecture, with many original features. A display of landscape photography would be a nice addition, given how scenic the Isle of Wight is. Cafe is pleasant, with friendly staff and good food, though the service is a little slow.

There's lots of 1970 Isle of Wight Festival) memories & pictures & stories of famous people Inc. Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Charles Darwin, Charles Dickens, Lewis Carroll, etc.etc.etc. Lovely gardens too, with the bronze of Jimi Hendrix.

Hurst Castle, located at the end of a shingle spit near Lymington in the New Forest, is a hidden gem with a rich history. Built as a defense fortress by Henry VIII, it features impressive 38-ton guns and offers visitors an opportunity to explore its military past. Accessible via a scenic walk from Milford-on-Sea or a passenger ferry from Keyhaven, the castle also houses a lighthouse exhibition and cafe.
Hurst Castle is a great place to visit. My husband and I took the kids and we all had such a lovely day. We parked up at keyhaven and took the ferry which was great fun. The castle has so much to see and stunning views of the needles/Isle of Wight and the fabulous lighthouse. Staff were friendly and sociable. We stopped for lunch in the castle and sat at one of the benches provided. After we saw everything at the castle, we took a walk to the lighthouse and put our feet in the lovely clear water which the kids loved. We have all said that it is one of the best places we've visited so far and already want to plan a future trip back here. We are members of the English heritage and we got in for free, we only paid for the ferry crossing which was pretty good price wise. All in all a great cheap family day out with lots to see and admire.
Hannah F — Google review
Really enjoyed it here, a mix of the old and the more modern, great history. We caught the little ferry boat over which was lovely, we were going to go back the same way but decided to walk back along the spit, was about 2 miles out in the open and shingle all the way, was very windy on the way back but a nice walk none the less. It's a bit of a gem and not over priced, definitely worth reading all the signs to learn about the history and the changes the castle went through.
John B — Google review
I enjoyed my visit immensely. A great place to bring children to run around, although I suggest you use the ferry with the little ones as its a 2 mile walk from the carpark. Completely dog friendly I brought mine. He enjoyed sniffing around the rooms but was impatient to move on. So I photographed the information panels for later. There's a very small cafe and the toilets are open to the elements.

Hurst Castle is an absolute gem. The walk from the car park to the castle is about 2 miles with lovely views of the Needles. You can get the ferry from Keyhaven to save on the walk. Once inside the castle, there’s so much to explore and the exhibitions are well presented and bring the stories of the castle to life. The views from the castle walls are breathtaking and you can see across to the Isle of Wight and watch the boats sail by. I’d highly recommend bringing a picnic and spending a few hours wandering, learning, and soaking up the atmosphere. A brilliant day out for families, history lovers, and anyone who enjoys a walk.
Simply W — Google review
We took the ferry across and then spent about 3 hours wandering round. Lots of different bits to see but the highlight are the views over to the Isle of White and the lighthouse. There is a little cafe out front and some rustic toilets inside. If you intend on being there over lunch I’d suggest bringing lunch with you.

Great morning out looking around this castle. Got the ferry there snd back which was great fun. Lovely views from the top of the castle overlooking isle of wight and beyond. Lot's of information given as you walk around.
Paul D — Google review
Great place to explore, by foot over shingle spit or by little boat. Lots of rooms to explore and learn history of the building, surrounding area and lighthouses in general. We had great time.
Irina M — Google review
This Castle has a lot to offer. Its history and role during various wars is well explained at various points inside the castle. There are many sections accessible only through narrow stairs. On an upper level there are lovely views across to Hust Beach and Keyhaven. In the other direction there is a clear view of the Isle of Wight.

Jaffran Indian Restaurant and Takeaway is a popular dining spot known for its fantastic curry and friendly staff. The restaurant offers an authentic menu with options for vegetarians, and diners can bring their own drinks. It's a hit among locals and tourists, especially during the main season when it's open every evening. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it suitable for families with children who are treated to lollies and chocolates after their meal.
What a fabulous place this is! Very relaxed & friendly service, one of the best curries I’ve had in a few years (& we live in Leicester, home to some very decent ones🤪). Delicious tamarind-based pot with the popadoms, lovely sea bass, a tasty butter paneer 💪 Soft drinks only - bring your own beer or wine👍 We will return: many thanks 😎

Amazing food and exceptional service! This is such an underrated gem in the Freshwater Bay area on the Isle of Wight. We thoroughly enjoyed every dish—from the beautifully presented starters to the flavourful mains. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it a perfect spot to enjoy your evening. Highly recommend for anyone looking for quality food in a relaxed setting.

A fantastic Indian restaurant for both eating in and as a take away. We ate in this time with our parents as we were getting married on the IOW. Don’t forget to bring your own alcohol if you do fancy drinking. We loved our curries and the flavours were brilliant very rich and the dishes each had their own distinct difference of consistency and spice and herbs used. The menu is also great for vegans with lots of options to choose from! We highly recommend jaffran!

I had such a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a perfect balance of cozy and stylish. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The food was absolutely delicious—beautifully presented and full of flavor. Every dish we tried was clearly made with care and high-quality ingredients. I especially loved the mango curry. It’s the kind of place you want to return to again and again. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable meal!

What a great find in Freshwater. During our trip here we stumbled on this place and gave it a try as we can’t resist a good curry. This place did not disappoint. Super friendly service, a massive choice on the menu and pretty brisk food delivery it was great. Would thoroughly recommend and will definitely visit again when we return to the island.

We went here on our last night in Freshwater and had a great experience. The staff were very nice and Shesh (pony tailed guy) looked after us. The table next to us were so friendly (that goes for the majority of people living in IoW). The food is great, all of us enjoyed it. I would highly recommend this gem of a place.

Lovely little Indian restaurant that will surely develop a great reputation if they keep delivering quality food like we had this evening. Could not fault any of it - delicious and good value. They do not do desserts or hold an alcohol licence, but we knew that so it's 5 stars for what they do offer. Recommended

Perfect service, friendly staff and curiously well dressed 😎. Food arrived quickly. Tandoori lamb tikka was tough but good flavour and combination with the fried onions. Takar daal (lentils) was a bit too mild in flavour, needed some salt and perhaps more spice. Atmosphere - felt like interior design could use some work... It was very dark and the space was small. The dark ceiling and walls only made it more claustrophobic.

Nestled at the serene Totland Bay, The Waterfront Bar & Restaurant is a delightful British and Mediterranean eatery that offers an array of vegan options alongside its renowned Sunday lunch. This charming spot not only boasts sweeping views of the bay, making it an idyllic location to catch stunning sunsets during summer evenings, but it also serves up freshly prepared seaside dishes that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. The atmosphere is enhanced by friendly staff who ensure a pleasant dining experience.
The Waterfront is fabulous. Lovely restaurant with the most beautiful view. The service is friendly at attentive. The menu is pretty wonderful though. Classics done well and the specials and extras show a chef who loves what they do. Atmosphere was bubbly and pleasant. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of food. Don’t fight your way into The Hut, The Waterfront is the same view and more for much less.

The location is amazing, and is easy to find from the no.7 bus stop. The walk down, while not too steep, would not be suitable for someone with mobility issues, but good parking at the restaurant and beach in general. I had one of the daily specials, the baked plaice with crayfish tails, and my partner had the seafood pasta. The plaice was okay, but smelt a little too fishy. I initially wondered if it was really fresh, but it tasted good, and I think the aroma was from the anchovies, part of the caper butter sauce. While I love anchovy, it didn’t work here. I think a caper and lemon butter or a crayfish tail and seafood bisque type sauce would work much better. The seafood pasta was good, and the large prawns the highlight, but a massive portion. Lost a star as we don’t like large portions generally, and the smaller portions said only for kids. Service and price all okay.
Laura B — Google review
Only stopped off for a quick drink but was a nice place and staff friendly. A couple of ales to choose from and one local. Would have liked to sit by the window but reserved for dining customers. Also you have to pay for parking on the sea front. I can imagine in the summer periods this would get very busy but was empty in March. I can see the appeal of the location on the sea front and is a beautiful setting. Overall though nice place.

A very lovely location with delicious foods and complemented with an amazing customer service from them. We make an over the phone booking as we have a pet tortoise with us. The waitress ended up helping us to reserve a very nice pet friendly spot even though the restaurant is almost fully booked when we called. They even helped find food for Mochi (a strawberry) before we left. I would like to apologise if it causes too much of a scene near the bar and ends up affecting other customers.

Incredible location, lots of interesting history, and very friendly staff. The food tasted very good, especially since the kitchen was apparently under strain. Only issue was that the prawn curry didn't have much sauce which was a shame since it tasted brilliant! I recommend eating here for dinner! Just book in advance as they were turning away anyone who hadn't pre-booked since every table was booked

Stunning views and delicious food! Waterfront Bar & Restaurant in Totland Bay offers a perfect seaside dining experience. The seafood is fresh, roasts are tender , portions are generous, and the sunset over the bay is unforgettable. Great service and a relaxed vibe make it a must-visit spot on the Isle of Wight.

Came here for a late afternoon meal at 5pm. Absolutely stunning location with very friendly attentive staff. Food is lovely with fair sized portions and well presented. Vegetarian and vegan options are available. Not as expensive as you'd think. Highly recommend.
Jake S — Google review
A great find! The menu has enough variety to make it interesting and create difficulty choosing, but small enough that each dish could be done well. We had the broccoli salad and stuffed fig (special) to start, followed by the duck and sea bass (I think - it was served on risotto with tender stem broccoli). All the food was excellent. The main portion of the dish, the sides, sauces, vegetables - all of it, with wonderful attention to detail with each plate attractively arranged and served. For the standard of food, the views and standard of service and cleanliness, you’d have a job finding many places better. As for the price point, it’s exceptional value for money. If you’re coming to IoW, make sure this place is first on your list.

"The Hut" is a laid-back beachfront restaurant with a terrace that offers seafood specialties and grilled meats. The restaurant provides a relaxed dining experience with its wide open sun-bleached decking and views of the azure blue sea stretching out over the Solent, reminiscent of dining in the Caribbean. It is open all day during the summer months, allowing guests to enjoy lunch in the sun or candlelit dinner without the need for formal wear.
Had a lovely evening here, watching the sunset from the deck. Food was amazing - the king prawns really were tasty. Would also recommend the sea bass! Service was friendly and relaxed; they even brought out a water bowl for our dog. Atmosphere was great, with a couple of birthdays, but nothing raucous. Sides up due to the wind, but temperature was just right with the roof open. Would certainly recommend for a special occasion or as a treat - prices are quite high. But the experience, friendly service and the wonderful food was worth it.

What a little gem. Recommended to my friend so we thought we’d give it a go and we wasn’t disappointed. Fabulous setting watching the boats go by and some being brought to the jetty to use The Hut. Food was great apart from a crabs shell left in one meal. Service was excellent and catered for my two friends with allergy’s. We were there for lunch so had more light bites than main meals.
Kirstin G — Google review
First time dining at The Hut and I was impressed with the location and atmosphere. Both are top notch. The option of the boat service looked excellent, and the seating and décor matched the relaxed, coastal vibe perfectly. The food was good overall. The sauces accompanying the steak were excellent and the presentation of the Surf and Turf was great. However, for the price I expected a little more. The steak was slightly chewy, and we were not given a steak knife, which made it harder to cut into smaller pieces. The lobster was very enjoyable and the cocktails were spot on with a great balance of flavor. One small detail I really appreciated was that I asked for a Coke to be brought out 20 minutes after my first drink, and it arrived exactly as requested which deserves bonus points. The automatic service charge. It feels impersonal, and asking to have it removed just feels awkward. I know this is a common practice now, not unique to this restaurant, but I am not a fan of the trend. Bathroom stalls were a little small but well furnished.

I really loved the whole experience here. I had heard mixed reviews, but for us it was wonderful, maybe because we went in the off season when it wasn’t too busy. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the vibe and aesthetic were perfect. It did not disappoint. Our favourites were the cod croquettes, tiger prawns, sourdough, and the soup. We would definitely come back as it was one of our favourite meals on the island, if not the best.

Outstanding location, superb service, friendly staff, excellent food, cool ambiance. Just a great lazy, stress free lunch. The fish Tacos are amazing, in fact all the seafood was amazing. You simply have to go.

I had been looking forward to coming for some time and very glad I was able to check it off my list. I was going solo for lunch so I was not able to make a reservation so I arrived at opening minute and it was already hopping. They were kind enough to get me a seat in the bar area within a couple minutes which was a very nice area out of the busyness of the main dining area so I didn’t mind. I ordered an array of smaller plates and everything was really really outstanding. The service was lovely, quick and attentive. The plates were served beautifully and tasted fresh and with rich flavors in each dish. I think it lived up to the hype, definitely make reservations at any time of day. Bonus was seeing the unbelievable 2 forward control Land Rovers they have.

Day 2

Northwest side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with Fort Victoria Country Park, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to On The Rocks. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Fort Victoria Country Park, located on the north coast near Yarmouth, is a versatile destination that offers a blend of history, nature, and stunning sea views. The park features the remains of a Victorian fort set within 50 acres of woodland. Visitors can explore walking trails through the woodland and along the coast, providing an active day out with their dogs. Additionally, there are attractions such as a seasonal Reptilarium, planetarium, museum, and cafe housed within the fortress remains.
Fantastic free park with fantastic views. Lots of interesting things to do and we paid to watch a planetarium show. They have several different shows and prices are very cheap. Lots of artefacts there and displays also including about Robert Hooke, the talented early scientist who was born nearby. Lots for children to do apart from exploring the fort, but don't miss the planetarium.

A perfect spring day with a cloudless sky and clear views to the mainland and Hurst castle and lighthouse. Then had a nice lunch sat outside at Cafe Verdi. Strolling along the stoney beach picking up sea glass and bits of pottery. The car park remains free though there is now a 2.2 metre height restriction as some people took advantage and decided to move their motorhomes in to live there. Spoiled it for some day visitors.

Easy to find and lots of good free parking. This Old Fort now converted into a super yet simple attraction which begs a visit. We loved the Planetarium and the Shows plus a lovey exhibition including Real Moon Rock. Richard Hooke (an amazing inventor and all round mega brain) exhibition here too from The Hooke Society. All in 2 Adults & 2 Children £20.00 but excellent educational value. Next we visited the Reptiles, insects and Terrapins (Adults £6, Children £4) a fascinating range of spooky reptiles in display settings plus Snakes all explained and described. The 20 or so Terrapins are shown in a big tank and again explained - one of our group especially like watching a Preying-mantis Stick insect dismember and eat a living locust!! Amazing entertainment. We had coffee and a beautiful Blueberry & Lemon cake locally made in the cafe reasonably priced with nice option to sit inside or outside overlooking the Solent. Outside a large green grass expanse to walk or sit on benches watching the craft in The Solent. Afternoon sun would seem to suit this site best. The free loos are small but enough and clean which was noted and appreciated. All in all a very pleasant 4 hours indeed Glad we went SNEEKY TIP - walk 50 meters along shale stone beach to a BEACH BAR for booze (well has to be done)

A beautiful place to visit, sit, paint, picnic, walk, sea fish, and so much more. Bring the family, K9s; and just relax. Enjoy the wonderful peaceful moments, where you do a crossword, or explore the history of the country park, whilst enjoying its peaceful beautiful scenery. Enjoy a snack or a meal at one of the seaside Cafés or visit the parks bespoke little businesses, studios, and planetarium; there's something for everyone. Most of the businesses are close during the winter, but some remain open during the half term school holidays.

We popped here after visiting the needles. Free parking. Dog friendly and clean toilets. Unfortunately everything was closed when we arrived but imagine it would be interesting when all open as a variety of places such as a cafe, reptile house and planetarium. We walked along the shingle and rocky beach. Didn't find any fossils - maybe one day! There is also a forest path. Views on top of the fort are really good back to the main land. There were lots of people fishing from here as well.

Nestled just outside the charming town of Yarmouth, West Bay Cottages offers a delightful escape that feels reminiscent of New England. This upscale accommodation features around 100 beautifully designed chalets and cottages set within a serene 15-acre gated community, perfect for families seeking a village-like atmosphere. While the range of activities has been streamlined, guests can still enjoy tennis and a playground on-site.
Great base. West bay club use to have recreational and sporting facilities for guests that are now permanently closed. You are just renting the accomodation now. Such a shame as the pool and spa were a family favourite.

I just enjoyed a lovely break in Cape A2 West bay Club, which is a 2-bed chalet style cottage. I really felt like a valued guest with the host going above and beyond to ensure my stay was as comfortable as possible. I had no problem finding the accommodation, using the instructions and map provided. There's a large gravel car park, to the right of the entrance. There's a very helpful welcome pack and instructions for the oven, coffee machine, dishwasher, etc in the kitchen drawer. The cottage was spotlessly clean throughout and spacious. The bed linen and towels are clean and fresh. The complimentary milk, tea bags, coffee pods and even a packet of chocolate biscuits! are a really nice touch. I'd thoroughly recommend it.

Fabulous. Much nicer than expected. The resort is clean and well kept. The house we've rented is well maintained, clean and spacious with two well sized bedrooms. All fully furnished including bedding and towels. Check in was easy as the site emailed all details and key locker code. The site app has all the information you need, but they also leave a site guide book which is full of useful local info. Well worth staying here for a week on the IoW.

Cottage was absolutely nice and perfect for a family. West bay cottage location is near to Yarmouth harbour so within 5 min you can reach. The cottage area is very clean and there is a sufficient car parking on-site. There is no reception, no shops and no social amenities like no swimming pool , no entertainment for kids.
Jayshree J — Google review
The resort is not good value for the money. Over the years in the past, my family enjoyed this resort and the best part of it all was always the West Bay leisure club which had a pool, a gym and a tennis court. One could come here and relax without going out much. However, I have been quite shocked this time after paying £1900.00 for a 3 bed cottage to find that the leisure club is closed and all that I have paid for is the 3 bed cottage for 7 nights with no activity and not even a swimming pool. It is not worth the amount without any amenities here and it actually quite boring. No wonder, the resort is rather quiet with no families around and nothing like it used to be in the past. We are really disappointed and trying to make something out of it all. I will not recommend this!

Great location 5 minutes from Yarmouth, with access to some stunning coastal and rural walks. Accomodation clean and very well equipped with everything needed for a self catering break. Staff very helpful and friendly. Leisure facilities superb - great yoga classes, clean and pleasant pool and smart tennis courts. Not the cheapest, but worth it in my opinion.

Impeccably clean accomodation. Very comfortable. Lovely atmosphere. Beautiful surrounds even in winter. Very good facilities I'd recommend taking a stroll down the track that used to be an old railway line just behind 'off the rails' cafe' in Yarmouth. Or follow the coastal path from freshwater

Yarmouth Castle, a restored 16th-century artillery fortress located in the quirky seaside town of Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight, offers visitors an immersive historical experience. Once part of Henry VIII's coastal defenses, the castle now serves as a picturesque picnic spot with stunning views of the Solent. Inside, guests can explore atmospheric recreations of 16th-century castle rooms and learn about local shipwrecks through informative exhibitions.
If you’re a lover of history this beautiful landmark is situated right next door to the Gossip Cafe on the edge of the sea. It’s not a huge place but it’s packed with great views and wonderful stories. A ticket is around £8.00 and the tour lasts for about 30 min. I really enjoyed the whole experience. 😊

This is quite a small castle, but an interesting one, well worth a visit if you're English Heritage members on the island. For those who aren't you'll need to balance the fee against what will be a quite short visit, about an hour at most. There's plenty of information about the castles history, which is rather unusual, having never really been involved in any fighting, and often left remarkably under manned. Excellent views across the Solent, some nice photo ops and the traditional gift shop as you come out. 5 mins walk from the long stay car park.

This is a English Heritage site, a Castle that sits right on next to the Ferry Terminal in Yarmouth. The Castle is relatively small with a small shop. At nearly £10 for non EH members in "my humble opinion" paying that is a bit steep. We walked the site and read the information boards easily in 25 mins. I'm a big fan obviously of EH as a member but this site would attract more visitors at a cheaper rate. The gentleman in the shop was very friendly and helpful. Parking for the Castle/Yarmouth can be found in the town or better still the long stay car park about 5 minutes walk away.

This very a small castle which you can finish within half and hour or so. However dun let the small size foul you the castle is filled with plenty of information about the castles history! Additionally it’s also very interactive, you get to try on old vintage costumes, and play the games that they have, we played two rounds of jenga :) Also when you climb to the highest peak of the castle, you get an excellent views of the whole Solent.

The perfect historic picnic spot with gorgeous views of the harbour at the mouth of The Solent. The castle opened in 1547 & was an artillery fort ordered to be built by King Henry VIII to protect against a French invasion. There are lots of interactive learning aids for the youngsters too. There is a small English Heritage shop on site with no cafe but my son and I were allowed to bring in our hot beverages and goods we purchased from the bakery in town. Highly recommend.

Karen W — Google review
Been to the castle 🏰 with my daughter yesterday. It’s a very small castle but still a nice place to visit. Plenty of interactive bits, so a great place to take the kids. The only downside is that this place has a few stairs making it not very accessible for wheelchair users. My daughter is a part time wheelchair user, she is able to walk for 10 before her legs fatigue and get painful so we timed it for the stairs mainly. It is an old building, hence lifts can’t really be put in unfortunately. Unfortunately my daughters ankles are hurting today as the stairs were too much for her. Most interactive bits are upstairs, if someone is completely wheelchair bound then unfortunately there isn’t much to see at all downstairs apart from the kitchen and the dining room. If you have an English heritage membership, it’s definitely worth visiting.

The Terrace is a charming harbor-side restaurant located in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, offering stunning views of the waterfront and Yarmouth Castle. The restaurant features two lovely outdoor terraces furnished with Bridgman furniture, as well as glass shelters to ensure a delightful dining experience regardless of the weather. Visitors can enjoy the contemporary dining room adorned with local art and design while savoring the best produce from the Isle of Wight.
What a superb friendly restaurant! Sort of formal and informal at the same time. Shorts, trousers, jeans and dresses all welcome. The staff team all very friendly, helpful and engaged and clearly all wanting to give great service and serve delicious food. Menu was inventive and classic and did not make selection too onerous and confusing. Classic wines sit alongside a rarer and more interesting selection. We enjoyed a dry ten year old Riesling from the Rheingau - what a treat! Thank you so much to the team for making our family day out such a happy one.

Such a lovely location, great seating outside and inside, however really poor service and questionable food. A couple of our party was running late, which we informed the staff, however they went on to ask us several more times, when they would be here (we was ordering drinks 🍷 and it was not busy). When they arrived, we were seated on two separate tables, which could have easily been put together. After rushing us to be seated, then took a while to take our food order (so what was the rush). I had the cod, it was lovely (have this if you go, nothing else), a few friends had the rump steak which was chewy and not edible, a couple of friends couldn’t eat it and one exchanged it for a chicken dish. Rump steak should never be chewy and to be told it always is and dismissed was unacceptable….source better quality steaks! Also, i really don’t know how my friends ate the cauliflower dish, it looked like a burnt lump of charcoal but we were all hungry by this point. Again, staff took a long time to come take our dessert order (even less busy at the point), then they proceeded to bring us the bill even though we hadn’t had the pudding yet! Rushed, not bothered, rushed, not bothered….make up your mind! Nice touch that they brought out 2 birthday ladies a Birthday plate with a small chocolate pudding on, would have been better before bringing puddings out (just a suggestion)! Please Check your bill… steaks were priced wrongly and we were charged more than what it stated on the menu, drinks added to the bill which we definitely didn’t have (a group of ladies aren’t Ale drinkers) and madness to the point, the member of staff had to refund us money. Overall experience was very poor and disappointing. Such a shame for such a beautiful location!

Wow is all I can say about this place. One of the best meals we've had in recent years. The food was the best we've ever eaten on the whole of the Isle of Wight, and matched only by a few places we've eaten at. Add to this young staff, who were helpful, polite, and couldn't do enough for you made it a superb experience. The location above the ferry terminal gives interesting views if you want to sit outside. This is one I'd definitely book a table in advance.

What a lovely find. We were early for the ferry and didn’t want to wait in the terminal, but the terrace is right above. Charming staff who were also very helpful Good views, very clean and lovely vibe. The only shame was there was no breakfast on offer when we got there, but the tea was good and the banana bread divine.

Lovely mothers day meal here. Very good service, caring and accommodating staff. Great views! The lamb shank was especially lovely ! This is the second time I have eaten here - the first was for breakfasts which were fantastic too! Only reason not a 5 was that the roast could’ve done with more veggies. Will definitely go again as there were so many lovely starters to choose from, I need to try the rest!

On The Rocks is a highly regarded establishment known for its delectable cuisine and exceptional service. Diners are particularly impressed with the generous portion sizes, making it great value for money. The staff members are friendly and helpful, ensuring a positive dining experience. One of the main highlights is the unique concept of cooking food on hot rocks, which adds an element of excitement to the meal.
This was my first time ever cooking my own food in a restaurant in this manner and it was an amazing (tasty) experience and with the option of bottomless fries and salads that you can fry off on your slate in garlic butter. Also a great way to never have to send your steak back to the kitchen because it is to rare because you can cook it to YOUR standards. The servers are so lovely and care about your needs and the atmosphere even in the autumn when not very busy is great.

A favourite treat night for us , that's not silly expensive ,tho the drinks can catch you out and would benefit by having some drinks offers . But it's all about the excellent steak cuts sourced locally that in our four visits, I've never had to remove any gristle or veins , you can eat the lot ,with unlimited fries & salad that are also excellent & fresh . The manager Rob ,efficient and a joy ,ask him for a song . Dog friendly & booking advised at peak times . Tip ,sit near the doors ,20 tables cooking multiple steaks gets heady , and leave room for me .

When you’re coming to On The Rocks, you’re coming for the experience. If you’ve never cooked your food on the rocks, then you’ll certainly enjoy doing it. The food was pretty good, and the chips are extremely tasty. All the food comes with bottomless chips and salad, which is nice. The meat was the best I’ve ever had, but it was pretty good. Straightforward hot food served quickly and politely by friendly staff with amazing views. Everything about our meals were as expected for the price and enjoyed with an unbeatable view of Colwell Bay. We had scampi, southern fried chicken burger and kids sausage and chips. Puddings were good too. Isle of Wight beers were available in bottles.

Nice little restaurant/bar over looking Colwell Bay. Your English favourites are served here; burger, fish, sausage, chips, jacket and ploughmans. Visited a couple if times for food or drinks at sunset, never had trouble getting a seat, but I suspect that might have been owing to the poor weather. Having said that, if it's a nice day, there is plenty of outdoor seating. Service is fast, portions are good, staff are friendly. Nothing fancy about it, so very family friendly. It had a holiday camp lounge feel about it with the layout and furniture. There is a family room with a pool table and one small sit down arcade type game.

The Longbeach offers a range of basic meals Burgers, Scampi... something with chips or lovely fresh salads; crab, ham, cheese, etc....at very reasonable prices. It is well worth popping in with friends and family and enjoying beautiful sea views across the Solent. The Needles is a stunning collection of chalk landforms on the Isle of Wight, offering a range of attractions and amenities for visitors. The area includes a historic lighthouse, chairlift, boat tours, and contemporary accommodations ideal for families or couples looking to explore the region. The landforms were once part of the Warden Point Battery (Fort Warden), built in 1860 as part of the Needles Passage defenses.
Wow what a place well worth a day trip to the old & new Battery's the views for the needles are amazing so much to see & breathe taking. The area has shops and restaurants with plenty to do rides golf etc. car park was excellent value at £6 for the whole day. The ride up & down on the chair lift was a great experience. If you love walking scenery then you will love this place. The Battery is very interesting and a coffee and cake looking out to sea with views of the needles was worth the walk!
Vivienne M — Google review
Wonderful but sadly the best view is not accessible as the cost guard building has an extensive fence. Next time I'll look for options to go in the water, as the view from the far cliff makes the needles look small and not awe inspiring

Great place with panoramic views. Highly recommended while exploring Isle of Wight. They have a huge parking and charge for full day parking is £6. There are stairs to the beachfront, or you can take the popular chair car cable, which is fun and picturesque. It will cost £12 ppl for round trips. At the beach you can take a boat safari which is readily available. A highly recommended place to visit.

Definitely worth a visit (or 2, we've been twice 😆) Good value especially if you head up to see the old and new battery placements up at the top of the hill. Great views on a clear say.

The Needles Lighthouse

Historical landmark
The Needles Lighthouse stands as a striking symbol of the Isle of Wight, perched at the edge of the iconic Needles Rocks. This historic lighthouse has been a beacon for sailors since its establishment in 1859 and continues to be an essential part of maritime heritage, even after its automation in 1994.
Distinctive rock formation at the Western tip of the Isle of Wight protected by the Lighthouse from being impacted by vessels sailing close by. Featuring a helecopter landing platform on the roof and a boat landing platform at the base, the lighthouse is manned and replenished regularly. Used as a marker for local fishing vessels and photographers.
Mike D — Google review
A beautiful place with incredible views. Chair lift takes you down to the beach. For a close-up view of the Needles Rocks and Lighthouse and some adventure, speed boat ride is highly recommend.
Avninder S — Google review
Highly recommend taking the chairlift down to Alum Bay and riding the speedboat to take you up close to the Scratchell Bay and Needles Lighthouse. Take the first available bus/come and park early because the queue gets long really fast. We went on a Sunday and the place got packed really fast. It's a good thing we got there early and finished out tour before the place became so crowded.
Joseph P — Google review
Before moving to the island I always wanted to visit this iconic location. It was well worth the visit to walk along the cliffs or to take a boat trip to see the lighthouse up close. I think you would be missing out by not visiting this location whether you are an islander or on holiday.

Amazing! Went wakeboarding wakesurfing and foiling for a photoshoot and the background was incredible. Such a historic place for sailors as well.
Edouard — Google review
A lot of attractions around it and based on it. Including a whole carnival, speed boats, and some historical sites where there were either rocket tests or the Old Needles Battery (pay to enter). Take a bus up to the sites or walk, pay for the chairlift down to the beach where there are speedboats or ferries to take.

An assistant keeper (Peter Halil) has his own YouTube channel where you can watch him from lighthouses across the UK, he was an assistant keeper here at the Needles.

Lovely sunny day to visit, was very quiet, lots of steps down to the beach, and a chair lift back only £4.00 e/w Cafe was open, for tea etc.

Alum Bay

Bay
Alum Bay is a must-visit tourist attraction known for its stunning multi-colored sand cliffs and breathtaking views of the Needles rock formation. A suggested tour includes a coastal drive to Alum Bay, where visitors can see the famous Needles and take a chairlift to the beach. The area also features the premier yachting center of Cowes and nearby attractions such as Osborne House in East Cowes.
We visited this on an overcast day and used the cable car to get down there. Very interesting colours and I haven’t seen anything like it before. Sadly it looks like it is victim to landslides as the earth is very soft. We walked back up which was pleasant and then took the road up to the Old Battery where you get a much better overview of the coastline. Worth a visit.
Vebeus 1 — Google review
Over all it was nice to see but we didn’t end up going down the the beach just observing from the coast path. The visitors centre was very touristy but quite fun for all as you could watch glass wear being made, there was plenty of cafes and places to get refreshments and a fill your own bottle of sand were they sustainably source all 21 shades of sand from the cliffs. There were a couple of small dinosaurs rides but they were nothing special.
Harriet T — Google review
Nice spot to visit, but be warned everything costs money and plenty of it. The chair ride to beach is good but at over £10pp is ridiculously expensive, the coloured sand in a bottle was fun but again expensive. Food, drinks and ice creams were available but not cheap. Unfortunately the chairs were not stopping on beach which was a shame but safety is paramount. It's an attraction that has plenty to offer and stunning views but probably best to remortgage your house first.
Leon H — Google review
We didn't use the chairlifts to get to the beach and went around the long way (not the stairs on the side of the chairlifts, too steep). The beach is covered in pebbles of differing shape, size and colour! What's interesting is that the nearer you get to the white cliff, the more you see pure white pebbles! I think this would be something children would find extremely fascinating. There's also a few mini-waterfalls (not sure what to call them) found on the multi-coloured cliff, flowing to the sea. On the beach, you've also got access to the boat rides. Overall, it's quite a spectacular view. You'll see pebbles, big rocks, mud, limestones (i think that's what they were)...so it's not your ordinary beach.
Charwin B — Google review
This is a great place to visit while on the Isle of Wight. Creating your own coloured sand ornament, seeing how glass ornaments are made, tours to see how sweet humbugs are made. And loads more the kuds will love it and the adults will be amazed.
Michelle B — Google review
You can walk or take a cable car down to the beach where stunning cliff formations are made up of many different coloured sands. We took the speed boat tour around the needles and took some great photos of the lighthouse. The beach is quite shingly seeing as that the cliff behind is all sand but is good for a picnic whilst taking in the views. There is an amusement park at the top of the cliffs where children can be entertained. We used the car park and walked further along the coast to the battery - where you can see cannons and armaments that use to protect the coast form attack.
Alex H — Google review
No visit to the island is complete without a trip to Alum Bay! I LOVE it here! The sand shop and terrifying chair lift simply can’t be missed. The gent that helped me get off the lift due to a dodgy knee was lovely, and the gent in the sand shop that chatted to us was so charming( he had been there for over 20 years I think) just those little things make a special visit. Will be back again next year!!
Johanna T — Google review
Really Need to go when it's not peak tourist season, where coach loads cram people into the area. It's so packed tight on the beach, just wasn't a great experience. For those able to walk, get well away from crowds and march on towards the white cliffs. Sky lift was great way and down, views are great. The less able and less mobile were helped on and off, stopping the lift totally to let them on and off. (Queuing for the lift in the way up wasn't as easy, as there was no wheel chair to sit on, but staff provided a chair , that could be moved along as the que progressed) *****Really impressed with staff, very understanding and helpful. Thank you very much *****

Alum Bay Pebble Beach

Beach
Alum Bay Pebble Beach is a stunning shingle beach located on the Isle of Wight, offering clear waters for swimming and paddling. The beach is known for its picturesque views of The Needles, three large chalk rocks that protrude from the sea. It is also famous for its multi-colored sand cliffs, with 21 different shades, making it an exciting destination for kids interested in geology or vibrant colors.
Stunning cliffs with sharp pinnacles and bright coloured rock make Alum Bay one of the Isle of Wight's most impressive landscape features. The beach itself can get very busy, but it's worth braving the crowds to see this unique stretch of coastline. The boat trip from the pier gives a great view back to Alum Bay, and gets up close to The Needles. I'd recommend taking the steps unless you really want to ride the chairlift, as the latter isn't cheap and there can be quite a queue for the lift. The Needles Landmark Attraction offers gift shops, cafés and family friendly amusements - very commercialised, but it seemed well run as these places go. Parking was £6 for the day when I visited in August 2024. There's enough to see at Alum Bay and the nearby National Trust - Needles Battery to fill a good few hours.
Andrew T — Google review
Very stony beach, not too busy on a sunny hot day in August. Recommend the boat trip to see the needles lighthouse. The boat isn’t so rocky when it’s on the go. Don’t recommend the chairlift. It’s very short and not worth of money. We did one way trip uphill as it’s easier to walk down. Definitely not worth of return trip. The walk down is very short and don’t involve many steps. You can take scenic pictures on the stairs as well.

Alum Bay Pebble Beach is a hidden gem on the Isle of Wight that offers a unique and picturesque coastal experience. The beach is renowned for its multi-colored sand cliffs, which create a stunning backdrop for the clear blue waters. T The chairlift ride down to the beach provides breathtaking views and is a fun way to start your visit. Once on the beach, you can enjoy a peaceful stroll, collect beautiful pebbles, or simply relax and take in the serene surroundings. The boat trips from the beach to The Needles are a must-do, offering spectacular views of the iconic rock formations and lighthouse. There are also various family-friendly activities and attractions nearby, making it an ideal spot for a day out. The facilities are well-kept, with clean restrooms and a nice selection of cafes and shops nearby. The staff are friendly and helpful, enhancing the overall experience. Alum Bay Pebble Beach is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy the natural beauty and tranquility of the Isle of Wight. Highly recommended!

The experience of walking on this pebble beach left me a special memory, especially when you running. For the view, both white and colorful cliffs are beautiful, and the sea ocean is tranquil. We arrived at here around dusk, the needles cruise and the chair lift are both closed. They seem very joyful.

Many a tourist has returned from a holiday on the Isle of Wight with a souvenir filled with the multicoloured sands of Alum Bay. From the sea, the falling cliffs give a clear view of the different sandy structure making up the cliff face.
Mike D — Google review
We visited for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. The location and food were excellent however service was poor. At one point we had to go to the bar to get our own drinks. They mixed up our mains orders constantly asking who ordered what food. I suggest they re organise the tables instead of apologising constantly for reaching across guests when serving food and drinks. We would have spent a lot more money if the staff had been more attentive.
Chris — Google review
Pebble beach by name and definitely by nature. We came on probably one of the windiest days of the week but it didn't deter us. Spent a good hour walking along the pebbles, which you'll struggle to walk on properly unless you've got decent shoes on. The beautiful colours of the cliffs are definitely worth taking a trip down on the chair lift for. We got there fairly early so there wasn't a lot of people there at that time either which made the experience more pleasant.
Gazz — Google review
A very lovely place to visit. The beach is nice, especially the pebbles and there is a lovely path to the beach, allowing great views of the beach itself. The cliffs near this beach are also beautiful.

Totland Bay is a charming coastal area on the west side of the Isle of Wight, offering delightful sandy bays such as Colwell Bay and Totland Bay. These beaches are popular for swimming, boating, and fishing. The location is perfect for scenic walks along the Coastal Path to the Needles or towards Yarmouth with views of the Solent and Hurst Castle. Accessible by sea, Totland Bay provides a secluded atmosphere with good anchorage for various watercraft.
Totland Bay on the Isle of Wight is a hidden gem, perfect for those looking to enjoy a peaceful and scenic beach experience. The beach is a mix of pebbles and sand, and the views across the Solent are stunning, especially at sunset. It's the kind of place where you can take a deep breath, relax, and soak in the natural beauty. The water is clear and calm, making it a great spot for swimming or paddling, especially during the warmer months. There are also plenty of opportunities for walking along the promenade or coastal paths, with picturesque views that are ideal for photography or simply taking in the scenery. One of the standout features of Totland Bay is the waterfront restaurant, The Waterfront Bar & Restaurant. It’s the perfect spot to grab a drink or a meal while enjoying the sea views. The service is friendly, and the food is good, making it a great place to rest after a walk or swim. Parking is relatively easy, with spaces available nearby, though it can fill up quickly during peak times. The bay is also dog-friendly, so it’s a great place to bring your pets for a stroll. Overall, Totland Bay is a lovely, quieter alternative to some of the busier beaches on the Isle of Wight. Whether you’re after a peaceful beach day, a scenic walk, or a bite to eat with a view, this spot is definitely worth a visit.

When approach by sea, Totland Bay has a secluded and private feel, as a little known Gem, as when turning in from the East you often find you are not the only one with the bright idea of anchoring in this Bay. The holding is good, and the depths great for all manner of watercraft, yacht or motor cruiser to drop anchor and BBQ away. VERY scenic when the sun is out and a great sandy beach to land your tender.

Very pleasant little Bay to visit Beach is mainly stoney and there is a pier with a cafe on it, closed until 2023 at the moment. There are toilets and generally is quiet as there are no amusement arcades. Long promenade with a cafe eaterie called the Waterfront towards the far end which has good reviews.

Beautiful, small, clean shingle beach (sandy as soon as you're in the water!) with lovely views of Bournemouth in the distance. Picturesque and fairly quiet when we were there, and perfect for a swim when the tide is in. A nice juxtaposition to the busy, wavy, big sands of Compton Bay. Pier was under reconstruction with a promising looking cafe not quite open. We also enjoyed an awesome ice cream from Calbourne Classics sold by a super friendly guy on his ice cream bike, TUBS1.

St Agnes' Church, located on the Isle of Wight, is a relatively modern church with a thatched roof, built in 1908 on land donated by Lord Tennyson's son. The interior features traditional style and stone construction with an open beamed ceiling. The church exudes a sense of joy and peace, creating a feeling of community among its visitors. It is adorned with beautiful handcrafted needlework cushions and family-oriented plaques.
A rare example of a thatched church, and the only one on the Isle of Wight. The building dates from 1908 so isn't particularly old, but is lovingly maintained, with information about its history inside. The church sits on a small plot of land which was donated by Lord Tennyson, at the foot of the hills of Tennyson Down. Inside, the timber framed roof, simple clear windows and light stone walls give the church a friendly atmosphere. There's roadside parking right outside, and the church is open daily.

Delightful thatched Church. Beautiful on outside as well as on inside. Should restrict parking directly outside church so you can enjoy seeing the church and take photos unobstructed

Lovely church. Lord Tennyson's wife created a great replica of an ancient church. One of not many thatched churches still in existence.

What is there not to like? A beautiful, beautiful place with all traditional style interior and stone built, thatched out. Entrance through a porch brings you in from the cold to a warm welcoming old style church with a fabulous open beamed ceiling. Many family orientated plaques around and masses of needlework cushions for when the time comes for kneeling. We attended for a family Christening and the reverend made the whole service upto date and really all about the attending children whilst still adhering to the Christening service. A very warm welcome from local parishioners and a great afternoon.

Beautiful thatched roof church. So different internally. All the hassocks are hand done and beautiful, mainly commemorating royal occasions. Definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful thatched church, open to view and for private prayer. No one on duty but hand sanitiser and disinfectant left for visitors. I enjoyed the photos and info about other thatched churches...must find the one in Little Stretton when I am next in Shropshire.

Bay Cafe, Totland Pier is a charming spot located near the beautiful pebbled beach and wooden pier of Totland Bay. The pier itself, although in a dilapidated state, offers stunning views across the Solent and towards the Needles. The cafe provides delicious food and quick service, with ample seating to enjoy the scenery. Visitors can also take a leisurely walk along the esplanade to Colwell Bay for more breathtaking views of the lighthouse on the mainland and Fort Albert.
We had an amazing family dinner at The Bay. The staff were very friendly, the restaurant is beautiful with lovely views of the beach. We loved our food, and the kids loved the pizza. Cocktails and mocktails great too! There were also good options for gluten free and vegetarian diets. We can't wait to visit again.

The Bay at Totland Pier – A Great Sunday Lunch - consistently the best! It was really good. The food was well-prepared, amazing roast beef and fabulous fresh vegetables, served up by Head Chef Callum , they did an excellent job. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed. All in all, it was a great lunch, and I’d recommend it.

We happened on The Bay by chance as we had just arrived on holiday and called in for Sunday lunch. We managed to get a table and were happy that we could take our small dog in with us. We both had the pork loin lunch which was divine. There were various vegetables and a scrumptious cauliflower cheese. Even the homemade apple sauce had bacon pieces in it - gorgeous. My husband had cheese board afterwards that was huge so he took his leftovers to have the next day and I had the spotted dick which was light and fluffy. The restaurant itself was so relaxing with a view of the sea and the pier. Staff were warm and friendly. We enjoyed it so much, we have booked a table for next Sunday too!!

What a little gem, we were out for one last look around before heading back to the mainland later, and stopped here, the sausage and mash, chicken and ham pie with fresh veg and mash with hand made gravy lush.... We then had apple & blackcurrant crumble again lush just enough sugar and the crumble really worked well. The staff were great and the views were brilliant another must stop here venue for us on the Ilse of wight.

Unfortunately the hostess was very unfriendly and despite the visible empty tables refused to accommodated us for quick lunch and told us that the downstairs area is for disabled people but there where no sings for disabled access on the stairs and no reservation sings on the tables?! She made us feel uncomfortable buy her sarcastic attitude and we left very disappointed! The fact is that tables for lunch are easy to run on first comes first serves and to refuse 2 people in this kind of place is just unacceptable!

Attended on a Friday evening to celebrate our anniversary with our 11month old. Was really welcoming and high chair was already placed at the table for us. I am dairy free & we had the fish sharing platter. They were able to alter a few items to ensure I could eat them. Nothing was too much trouble including getting some cucumber sticks for the baby. It has a very relaxing vibe to it and the food was really delicious and huge portion sizes. We will definitely be going back, looking forward to trying out the breakfast! All the staff were super friendly it was a real comfortable dinner. Thank you!!

Fish and chips takeaway
Totties Fish & Chips is a well-known fish and chip shop in Freshwater village on the Isle of Wight. While some customers have complained about the excessive greasiness of the food, overall, it receives positive reviews. The portion sizes are generous, and the taste of the food is highly satisfying for everyone. Although there may be a wait for your order due to everything being cooked fresh, this ensures quality.
Food: Delicious fish and chips. Lots and lots of choice. Could have more drink choice but it's fine because there's a shop basically next door with a walk-in-closet of drinks! Service: Food served quickly so that's good. Staff were probably nice but I was at the really cool drinks shop so I don't really know. Atmosphere: It's in Isle of Wight what can I say? Very awesome sauce! 🤩

--- Absolutely terrible experience. The food was served like it was meant for a dog – just wrapped in paper, no proper packaging, not even a plastic container. The salad? Literally two sad leaves thrown in as a joke. I paid £11 for what was supposed to be a large portion, but in any decent kebab place, this would barely pass as a kid’s meal. Completely misleading. I’m adding a photo because presentation matters – and this looked like dog food. Would not recommend to anyone.
Krzysztof B — Google review
Very nice kebab and chips, my only complaint would be how greasy it is however the paper it’s wrapped in soaks up most of it. we also ordered a 12” pizza which was full of flavour and not greasy. Would recommend, very nice food.

Great place for Fish and chips, Kebab or Pizza. Friendly Staff, Reasonable prices and Good food.
I.W. R — Google review
A popular fish and chip shop ehich I visited with my family while on holiday on the Isle of Wight. My only criticism is that the food was particularly greasy insofar as the grease was soaking through all the paper wrap. Other than that everything was fine. Portion sizes were good and all the food tasted very good and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. There was a wait for the food but that was simply because it was all cooked fresh to order which is the way it should be. The place could do with a bit of a face-lift but that would only increase prices so I can live without it.
Vincent M — Google review
Love it! Good friendly, efficient service. Decent portion sizes, cod cooked to order. Our go-to chippy when we're on the island.

We had an awful experience. My whole family had food poisoning which caused vomiting and diarhia . The chips were pre heated and didn’t look fresh and way too oily to eat . We are very disappointed with this and regret the decision to go to this place driving so far
