The Cookie Jar Restaurant in Fairbanks is a popular spot offering a relaxed atmosphere and delicious American cuisine. Whether you're craving an all-day breakfast, hearty sandwiches, or steak and seafood dishes, this place has got you covered. The menu features grilled sandwiches made with fresh bread, corned beef hash, cinnamon rolls, and more. Additionally, they cater to vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free diets.
There were a lot of fruit flies in the restaurant, but there was plenty of seating and room between the tables so it felt like a semi-private meal. Huge menu with lots of appetizing choices. Next time I would try the bagel breakfast sandwich and definitely get a cinnamon roll.

We had a recommendation to check out The Cookie Jar from family who lives nearby and are very glad we did and will definitely come back if we visit Fairbanks again. Pricing was fair, the coffee was hot, and our server was attentive but not overbearing. I had a "stuffed Nolan's" which was one of their giant cinnamon rolls cut in half, stuffed with cream cheese, grilled, then topped with berry compote. I was a little worried it'd be too sweet but it was perfect. The sausage links were also really good. Thanks for a great breakfast!
Margaret B — Google review
5 star alert!!! Awesome Breakfast Spot! Visiting Fairbanks to hopefully see the Northern Lights and found the Gem of a restaurant. Our server L. Rainey was a delight and so nice they could get 5 stars from her alone. She was busy but ensured you felt that you were the only person in the restaurant. Ask for her if you go and feel at home. The food was amazing and the portions are hugh. The restaurant is small but full of life. The picture shows what all we had which you would consider a basic Breakfast but.... it is delicious. Give this place a try!! I wish I had enough time in to try the lunch and dinner..... maybe it's time to rearrange the schedule.

We visited fairbanks from Dallas, TX and were in need of a wholesome breakfast. The Cookie Jar was the perfect spot. Great service, real wholesome food, and the vibe was giving grandma's house. You have to grab a cookie or 7.
Chopsticks R — Google review
Everything you’ve read about Rainey the waitress is correct! We were fortunate enough to have her wait on us this morning and she is awesome! The breakfast was phenomenal as well. I had an omelette and I was definitely not shorted on sausage and bacon. The wheat bread is made in house and thick - like thicker than Texas toast. We also got two gigantic cinnamon rolls to go. We went on a Sunday morning around 8:00, no wait. When we left, the place was full.
Shauna B — Google review
This charming gem is not only really cute it has delicious breakfast and lunch items. We had an omelette and Nolan’s special stuffed cinnamon roll ! And the mushroom, sausage and mozerella quiche with fruit was great! I also had a delicious vanilla latte! Both were Devine! Our waitress was the best! We would eat here every day if we lived here!!
Glynis Y — Google review
Food is nice but the serving is really huge so be careful on how much you are ordering. Cookies look so tempting I had to get some on the way out. Love the service fantastic, very attentive and well taken care off by the folks.
Lee S — Google review
Never had a prime rib fried steak, but man was it tasty!! I will 100% be returning because there is soo much to try. If you're passing through Fairbanks or just visiting, this is a must try before you leave.

Farmers Markets
The Tanana Valley Farmers Market, the oldest established farmers market in Alaska, is a charming spot to explore local produce and artisanal goods. Nestled in its own permanent building, this market offers a wide array of Alaska-grown fruits and vegetables, native plants, and handcrafted Alaskan art. Visitors can also indulge in farm-fresh eggs and homemade treats while browsing through stalls both inside the building and outside on the grounds.
Great little farmer's market! Wednesday's and Saturday's, don't miss it. If you're traveling through our around Fairbanks it's a must stop option. Lots of crafts and plenty of food options. Fun place for a family outing option. The pictures don't do it justice. There's a little bit of something for everyone. You gotta try the kettle corn; it's the bomb!

I enjoyed strolling around the market to buy some fresh produce, honey, mushrooms, .. arts and crafts. The aroma from international food vendors made me so hungry. There are shady and picnic areas.

This is a hidden gem in Fairbanks. Open on Wednesdays and Saturdays, plan some time to go here. The vendors have an excellent selection. Everything is handmade/homemade. At first glance it may not look like much, but it's one of the best Farmers Markets I've ever been to from across the nation.

Nestled within a sprawling 2,200-acre expanse, Friends of Creamers Field at Creamer's Field Migratory Waterfowl Refuge is a remarkable sanctuary that beautifully marries nature and history. Once the site of a thriving dairy farm until 1966, this refuge now serves as a haven for endangered waterfowl and numerous migratory bird species. Visitors can explore miles of scenic trails that wind through diverse habitats including wetlands, fields, and forests.
Lots of wildlife viewing opportunities. Visited early May and most of the trails are walkable, just a few that are muddy or under water due to the snow melting. Most trails are flat with a mix between open fields or wooded paths. Good place to bike or bring your dog.

Best hiking and awesome birds of all sizes. Very close to town. Easy parking. Good clean trails. Had a cute band playing music on the weekends and tours of the old farmhouse.

Pleasant location for a walk-hike. We enjoyed seeing some migratory waterfowl. No entrance fee. Cute visitor center/gift shop with very friendly host (I’m assuming a volunteer).

Specialty Museums
The Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum in Fairbanks is a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts. The museum offers guided tours and showcases an impressive collection of 70 historic automobiles, along with exhibits that delve into the post-Gold Rush heritage. Located in Fairbanks, known for its museums and vibrant summer festivals like the Midnight Sun Festival, the museum provides a fascinating glimpse into Alaska's rich cultural and automotive history.
My husband and I visited the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum and had such a wonderful time! This museum is not just for men or car enthusiasts, it’s also perfect for women who enjoy fashion and history. We were amazed by how beautifully the cars were displayed, each telling a story of innovation and style from the early 1900s to the 1930s. To me, what made the experience even more special was the vintage fashion collection. Each era of cars was matched with elegant dresses, including some stunning evening gowns from the early 1900s. I especially loved seeing the trends in nightgowns and formal wear—so classy and detailed! It felt like stepping into a glamorous movie from the past. The fabrics, embroidery, and silhouettes showed how fashion evolved alongside the cars. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. They were happy to answer questions and explain more about the history behind both the vehicles and the clothing. The museum was clean, well-lit, and thoughtfully organized, making it easy to enjoy each display. Whether you love classic cars, beautiful dresses, or simply enjoy learning about history in a creative way, this museum is a must-visit in Fairbanks. It’s truly a place where both men and women can find something to appreciate and remember.
Nim G — Google review
Pleasantly surprised. This was so much more than we planned for. First person we met had authentic clothing she wore every day donated to her from a much older women (90’s)who was also a vintage cloths collector so they looked almost new. This is so much more than a car museum. Outfits to match period cars, pictures of the Alaskan experience with cars over the years.
Kamy C — Google review
An absolute gem of museum!! The layout, details about the vehicles, all the time period clothing, and pictures from the Alaskan history is incredible. If you are in Fairbanks this is A MUST SEE! Amazing that most of these vehicles are in full operation. Can’t wait till they are in the new location which should allow for more vehicles and some planes. Oh, and if you can’t tell, most of these vehicles are in perfect mint condition.
Eric B — Google review
Phenomenal place! The volunteers were super knowledgeable (thanks Steven!) and both the cars and the antique attire were immaculately taken care of. Hope you get to see one or more of their cars in action (only 3 don’t get out and about). Recommend during your trip to Fairbanks!
Lena M — Google review
The breadth and depth of this car and dress collection is amazing. Truly the best car collection I have ever seen. And it’s a living museum with all in working condition except three. You can spend your day seeing it all while in awe.
Holli R — Google review
Really interesting restored and original cars, motorcycles and women's fashions to match. Informative signs. The only challenge is you want to read it all, it is so well done. A few videos spread around and old Alaska photos in the walls
Andrew E — Google review
Short informative introduction before self touring. All displays had a placard explaining the item. Great mixture of automobiles, clothes, and pieces of history. My husband could have spent all day here.
Stephanie P — Google review
My husband and I visited the Fountainhead Antique Automobile Museum while visiting Fairbanks. The Museum was so interesting because each of the amazing cars (late 1800s to Pre-World War II) was paired with beautiful vintage dresses along with their accessories. There was a story for each car and each dress. There are some archival videos to watch as well. We spoke with Docent Steven who gave us so many back stories about some of the cars. He is very knowledgeable and it was great chatting with him. We learned quite a lot. We highly recommend visiting the museum while in Fairbanks. There is something of interest for everyone!

Excelent Resort. The team is spectacular. All the staff were very helpful and never hesitated to help. I would like to extend my special congratulations to the entire staff. I was very happy to have been so well attended to by everyone. I was even very helpful when it came to booking tours. The view is spectacular and the facilities are all very good. I have nothing but praise for this excellent resort. The management is to be congratulated! I hope to return with my family to visit more tourist attractions in Fairbanks and stay at the Wedgewood Resort.

The lobby, gift shop and staff are nice but everything else felt like a cheap motel. The mattress had large dips and our windows were taped over and covered from the outside. Brakfast was till 10 but they ran out of food before 8. The elevators shake hard. Glad we were only there for 2 nights. But the guys driving the bus were cool

We had our wedding reception at Wedgewood Resort, and it was truly amazing from beginning to end! Zoe, the manager, deserves endless praise, she was the heart of our experience. From the first meeting to the very last detail, she guided us with professionalism, patience, and genuine care. Her attention to detail, calm presence, and willingness to go above and beyond made the entire planning process stress-free and the day itself flawless. Bonnie and the admin staff were also wonderful, always organized and helpful, and the chef and kitchen staff delivered a meal that our guests are still raving about. Every single person at Wedgewood went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. Thanks to Zoe and the entire Wedgewood team, our wedding reception was better than we could have ever imagined. We are so grateful for the memories you helped us create!

I really like staying at Wedgewood. I have stayed there many times for work. The only thing I don't appreciate is their lack of technology. Tv says its smart but isn't. Have basically been watching movies on my phone when i have "two TVs" in my apartment. Terrible phone service, cant text or receive calls or text when home, i asked about it and was immediately told its my phone company which isnt true i was in other buildings for my year long stay didnt have that problem. Then its the cleaning, they just spray chemicals, no use of water for cleaning. So basically for 6 months i cant watch TV, requested to move however the lady at the front desk either has a personal problem with me or hates people of color. The way she talked to me, i was told i could move to another unit/building, in fact they checked and said there was availability. Then i stopped by Christina says no, wont even listen to me speak. She was nicer the first couple of times i stayed here last year for work. Upon coming back, she isnt friendly or nice .This will be the 3rd time i have attempted to move, its not like they dont have the availability, they do she just wont let me move. Its too expensive not to have working TVs. Then the gym has little to nothing in there, not up to standard appartment gyms, has no mirrors, tv is muted permanently. no outlet near the bed other than one behind the mattress. You have to move the mattress, unplug the clock, and move the mattress back to charge phone etc. Its too expensive for what you are provided.

Rooms bit dated but very spacious. Carpet could benefit from shampooing. Great location to creamers field & there is wonderful adjacent walking path in woods with pond. Would stay again & recommend.

You won’t find modern 5star hotels in Fairbanks. We settled for Wedgewood Resort for its complimentary airport transfers. The apartments may look dated but we are pleasantly surprised that it’s so clean 👍🏻 some of things we love a little this apartment - fully equipped kitchen, full length mirror, stand alone fan for air circulation,

We had an issue with one of our activities that was planed on our trip to Alaska. The company made us a one night reservation at Wedgewood Resort. The staff at the front desk was amazing! We initially had a room that required us to climb 4 flights of steps. We have had back and knee surgeries so this was not ideal. The staff at the front desk made sure we were switched to a ground floor unit. This was Customer Service at its best!! Kudos to all of the people involved in helping us have a great stay! Thank you.

I was in Fairbanks for a conference and had a great experience thanks to the staff. Everyone was welcoming and helpful, but I especially want to recognize a young man named Ambrose. He went out of his way to make sure I had what I needed, and did so with genuine friendliness and professionalism. His polite and positive attitude made a real difference. Incredible service!

We had the most amazing meal here! My husband got their seafood pasta, we shared their fresh Cuban bread and the owner went out of his way to make me a cubano even though it was not on the menu. We also shared the flan and everything was 10/10 phenomenal

A Fairbanks GEM! So happy we found this place. The food is unlike anything we've had in Alaska thus far and is genuinely authentic and delicious. Appreciate that it's open slightly later than other restaurants so we were able to enjoy a later dinner. Rico is an outstanding host. He made us feel welcome from the very moment we arrived. Highly recommend giving this place a try. Both the pork Lechon and the Bistec Cubano were fantastic- so juicy and full of flavor!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Jazz Bistro on 4th is an incredible place to enjoy live jazz music and delicious food in a cozy and elegant atmosphere. I recommend coming with plenty of time and a good appetite, because all the dishes are made fresh with organic ingredients, nothing is pre-made. This means the wait is absolutely worth it, as you can truly taste the quality and care in every plate. The staff is attentive and welcoming, and the live music makes the entire experience unforgettable. Perfect for a special night out, whether with friends or as a romantic evening. A must-visit for anyone who loves live music, fresh food, and memorable experiences.” The following dishes were: fresh guava juice, fresh bread, shrimp cocktail, lomo de puerco, pollo a la crema, pasta shrimp, and flan. Thank you for everything Rico and Lenora, you made us feel at home.

Absolutely incredible dining experience! Visiting from NY as I achieved landing in my 50th and final US state. I'm glad we came through this hidden gem in Fairbanks. It's no wonder it's been endorsed by Guy Fieri and the Food Network. Rico is the best! It was a pleasure to meet him and receive his fantastic service and chef excellence. As you can see, this Cuban-style salmon was absolutely delicious, probably, the best I've ever had. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful dinner at Jazz Bistro on 4th. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance—casual yet with a touch of upscale charm. We ordered the organic vegetable pasta and the halibut with rice, both of which were fresh and delicious. The owner really made the experience memorable—he was warm, personable, and shared great stories and recommendations that added to the evening. The wine selection was excellent, and ending the night with a smooth cafecito was the perfect touch. Highly recommend this spot for both food and vibe!

Chef Rico is very welcoming, and the vibes in this place are great for anyone looking for a great cuban meal. (So delicious). I was lucky enough to chat with him about many different subjects and have a few laughs. Then he was kind enough to let me play his drum set as he played a Carlos Santana song on the keyboard. Fantastic food, Fantastic service, and great conversation and a quick Jam. Will be back again soon!

Bahn Thai is a popular Thai restaurant in Fairbanks known for its wide variety of authentic Thai dishes served in a relaxed dining space adorned with traditional decor. While some visitors found the spring rolls to be average, others praised the flavorful Green Curry with chicken and delightful Thai hot tea. The restaurant's ambiance is highlighted by traditional Thai imagery, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Guests have also commended the friendly and accommodating staff, making it a top choice for locals and tourists alike.
BEST THAI FOOD IN ALASKA!! The food was so good we got Pad See Eww , Tom Yum soup, and Spicy Catfish (came with a huge serving of rice enough for the three of us)! The Pad See Eww was so yummy the sauce and the noodles were perfect and chewy and fresh in all the dishes the veggies were perfectly cooked and coated in the delicious sauce like they made veggies taste good that impressive!! The Spicy Catfish is as so good MY FAVORITE, we got this in medium spicy (we got everything medium spicy) so delicate the catfish melt in your mouth and was paired perfectly with the sauce they cook it in!! Lastly the Tom Yum soup was amazing and had a great flavor served warm was the perfect dish to tie everything together!! Also the place was decorated so well and very clean and loved all the artwork in the restaurant! It seems like a local favorite because it was busy people were coming in continuously and to go orders flying out! 10/10 would recommend this place! AND omg the dishes that the food was served in was SO NICE the catfish in a FISH SHAPED BOWL like WOW so amazing!!

A surprising and delightful find in Fairbanks- a wonderful bowl of Tom kha to warm up as you step inside from sub zero cold. Traditional decor makes it very pleasant, bright lit up place makes it a relaxed venue. Great service. All of the food was very delicious and truly enjoyable. Most of their curries have shrimp base which was a little disappointing but truly appreciate the server’s honesty for telling us about the base. I hope they soon support portable POS so your card never leaves you. Busy street even on winter days so parking can be hard but we took Lyft. Definitely recommended, and I will go again when I am in Fairbanks the next time.

The interior is so beautiful, and the owner couple, who are always there, are incredibly kind. The food is always delicious, and even the flowers outside the restaurant are so pretty🌸 This is one of my most frequently visited restaurants in Fairbanks, and it never disappoints! A pleasant, bright place for a relaxed evening. Traditional decor gives a nice cultural touch. Spring rolls, pineapple fried rice and Thai iced tea were top notch. They are short on staff so the wait might seem long but service is warm and polite. Tip for vegetarians: they will tell you but make sure to check. Massaman, and red curry have shrimp paste in them.

This was one of my late Son’s favorite Thai spots to eat. He loved the beef fried rice. Full of flavor and always fresh. Easy handicap access room to move, nice quiet for family gatherings and more! Nice wait staff, they are knowledgeable on dishes to try and ideas. Memories to make is the best, with good food and atmosphere!

My pineapple fried rice with chicken was delicious - just the right balance of sweet and savoury, spicy and flavourful. My husband's panang curry (medium heat, with beef) was possibly the best Thai food either of us have ever eaten. The decor is rich and warm, and the service was exceedingly fast and friendly.

We recently had the pleasure of dining here for Valentine's Day, and it was an absolutely delightful experience! The entire evening was well-organized, fun, and incredibly memorable. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff, who were clearly passionate about providing top-notch service. Our server was attentive and made sure everything was perfect throughout the evening. For dinner, I had the honey apple halibut, which was cooked to perfection with a delightful balance of sweetness and savory flavors. My husband ordered the risotto, and he couldn't stop raving about how creamy and flavorful it was. Both dishes were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The ambiance was romantic and cozy, with soft lighting and tasteful Valentine's Day decorations that added a special touch to the evening. It was the perfect setting for a romantic dinner. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. It's a fantastic way to celebrate special occasions, enjoy delicious food, and create lasting memories. We left with full hearts and satisfied appetites. Five stars all the way!

The service and staff were excellent but we didn't enjoy the food unfortunately. I ordered the specialty ribeye steak, but it was served without any Maillard reaction, meaning the Steak didn't taste like a steak and it didn't have a crust at all. It was similar to a Souse Vide steak that wasn't properly seared or an Oven prepared steak without searing, similar to reverse searing gone bad. The fish was cooked good and tasted good, but the apple sauce didn't feel as it belonged, it didn't connect with the fish. The calamrie just didn't taste good and we couldn't complete it at all

This is not an establishment we frequent, however we thought we would go on Friday night. In the past (a few years ago when we last went) we needed a reservation, we made a reservation for 4 people at 6:15 pm. To our surprise there were not very many people dining. We knew this was going to be an expensive dining experience. I wouldn't mind paying those high costs if the meal was outstanding, the service over the top and the atmosphere top notch. Which was not the case. The atmosphere- we were sat under a speaker playing obnoxious loud music. 4 of us larger people put at a small round table, (which had seen better days). We were behind the host stand (near the window) where all the young servers/hostess were "hanging out" munching on goldfish and having a good time. Way too many people on staff for the amount of customers in the restaurant. Our server was fine, older man who was working hard. I personally found the menu to be confusing. The portions to be small and completely over priced for what you get. I will enclose photos of our meals. The steaks were fillets, due to them running out of the one we ordered. We asked for medium... They were cooked medium well, but they ate them just fine. The beef tips were delicious, I would prefer my bread not be in the juice, on the side would be less soggy. The risotto was not as good as my previous experience, especially for the cost. The risotto cake under the steak was not a hit either. The side salad was a nice portion & quality. We did order cheesecake to go, because we heard it was amazing. Honestly Costco's taste better. It will be a long time before we try Lavelles again.

The food is delicious! And the service is outstanding. I had the Alaskan scallops, raw oysters and the beer battered Halibut. Each dish was prepared perfectly! I look forward to coming back here one day!

Really delicious cocktails, great service, and tasty food! Great spot downtown for a nicer meal. Huge selection of wine as well.

This is one of the most pleasant experiences I had in Fairbanks. I totally ran into this place and it was a great surprise. Everyone in this place perform their duties with excellence. The food was amazing and so the drinks. Service in general is 10+ I recommend you to stop by even just for a drink.

The atmosphere was warming. We were seated with no reservation. The service was fast, with about 25 percent of the restaurant filled. Now let's talk food. I ordered the New York 16oz strip. The strip looks more like a 12oz. The flavor was bland. I had to add table salt. I normally don't eat steak with steak sauce because it takes away from the flavor of the steak, but it's definitely needed. The table bread is small so if you like community bread be prepared to ask for more. The chicken soup was small. Makes me wonder how much salad I would have gotten instead of soup. They have a large menu to choose from. My experience is only over the $50 New York strip meal.

I highly recommend Lavelle’s, particularly if you’re staying at the Marriott Spring Hill. The service was great, with our server being very friendly. Even though it was quite busy when we visited, the salad and prime rib were served promptly. I have absolutely no complaints; my experience was thoroughly enjoyable. I look forward to returning to Lavelle’s if I ever visit Fairbanks again.

KFC is a chicken restaurant chain which specializes in fried chicken and wings. The restaurant is known for its buckets of fried chicken, as well as sides like mashed potatoes. They are always polite and order correctly, but their dog wishes would share might be a little greedy.
Always get my order right and are super polite...dog wishes I would share.

It was so unpleasant because of how much grease was in the platter. My first time trying KFC here in Fairbanks and this was awful.
Nyssa N — Google review
Food is getting better it is coming back around to the old KFC flavor and taste from my childhood. New manager and staff have really poured their heart and soul into turning this iconic brand back into a must visit restaurant. Cant say enough about the turnaround and quality of the food.
Robert S — Google review
After having a horrible day where nothing went right, I decided to take my family here to get a quick dinner. The staff was extremely friendly and nice, joking with the kids and my wife and I. When we recieved our food we also discovered they had left cookies in the tray for the kids. Would definitely recommend this location!

Not only was the man over the speaker rude, he sounded fed up with me. He didn't put half of my order in, and didn't respond when we would order until the very end when we said that was all, did he finally speak. No napkins, no utensils, not half of our order. Along with corn in my gravy! Will not be returning to this KFC again. Too expensive to not even have the crispy chicken that I asked for.
Autumn A — Google review
The order taker was very friendly and had my kid laughing. The food was delicious, fresh. We dined in and it was very clean. This was my 1st time in but won't be my last.

rating them a one star is still way too high for them!! Ordered their over priced 8pc fill up to be told that it is "dark meat " only...smh!! No where on any of the collateral or website does it state this. Asked to speak to the manager...(aren't managers suppose to be a reflection of the company they work for and have a shred of professtionalism??? Umm no he missed on all counts) needless to say we did not give him our business tonight or ever!

The food was decent. It seems like the biscuits keep getting smaller but still taste great. Overall I prefer a little more flavor in the chicken but it was good and the service was excellent.

I was not expecting a Falafal dining in Alaska, being from Michigan which is the hub of Falafals, and used to eating them they are doing real decent jobs in making vegetable Falafal sandwiches. The host are really nice and welcoming. The prices are very reasonable. They have only outdoor seating which is nice. Overall good place to take a snack on your way to Dinali.

Day 2

Southwest side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the southwest side side of town. Start the day off with Pioneer Park, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Bentley Mall. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Water & Amusement Parks
Theme Parks
Pioneer Park, also known as Alaskaland, is a 44-acre historical theme park in Fairbanks that offers a glimpse into frontier life without the commercialism of modern amusement parks. Visitors can explore various attractions such as the SS Nenana sternwheeler, The Crooked Creek & Whiskey Island Railroad, an Air Museum, and a Pioneer Museum showcasing early Alaskan life.
This was a fun stop. We didn't go to the salmon bake but we wandered around to see the various vendors and the historic buildings. The Harding Car was interesting. The SS Nenana is now closed to visitors for safety reasons according to the sign when we were there. There are great food options and live music. It is free so you should definitely stop in to check it out.
Donna S — Google review
We had a good time walking around the SS Nenana and the Harding Car. Very cool originals! We also enjoyed walking around and visiting the shops that were open - got a neat moose w/babies print at a shop (her original photography). Looks like they’re upgrading playground equipment for the kids. There’s also a very neat, older carousel. Got to also ride the little train twice around for a few bucks.
Shauna B — Google review
Original buildings rescued from around town were placed in this park along with a railcar and a steamboat. Local vendors sell local crafts, souvenirs and food. There is a museum that accepts donations. The other side of the park has rides suitable for young children. We enjoyed our visit.

Cute little park to take your family in Fairbanks. They have an amazing playground with a splash pad and swings. They have a old paddle boat you can take tours of, an art museum, lots of shopping and some wonderful food vendors. Would definitely go again.
Jessica X — Google review
Its a cute park that my friend and I visited. It has kind of old town architecture that makes it feel like old country times. The reason I gave 4 stars is because we rode the train but it broke down halfway into the ride so everyone that was on had to get off from a kinda steep hill. I didn't try to get a refund since it was only $3

It’s amazing! I’ll hand it to whoever must of thought to move all those houses years ago to save them. It great to see how each one is still being used in its own way. Loved it.

We were there at the end of the season so many of the attractions and shops were already closed. We did enjoy the shops that were open and walking around the grounds. We will visit again during the open season.

Seafood restaurant
The Alaska Salmon Bake is a casual outdoor restaurant located in Fairbanks, offering a unique Alaskan dining experience. Operating seasonally for over 40 years in historic Pioneer Park, it features grilled salmon, halibut, and prime rib cooked over an open fire. Guests can also choose from Bering Sea cod and snow crab as main course options. Sides like mac and cheese and baked beans are available to complement the meal.
The salmon is grilled fresh in front of you. The halibut and cod are also fresh but not grilled. You get a nice salad bar and fresh country potatoes and green beans. There are options to add more than one fish for extra or you can have just one fish type. It's a true Alaskan experience outdoors or you can sit inside. We enjoyed it so much we ate there twice last week.
Michael J — Google review
The place opens at 5pm. We spent some time exploring Pioneer Park before heading here to eat. Great selection of food and beverages. Both outdoor and indoor seating areas are available. I ordered fire grilled salmon with cauliflower rice. Lots of rice but the size of the salmon was a bit small given the price, in my opinion. It was flavorful, though. We went on a 80F day. Indoor seating had no AC. It was very hot but cold drinks helped!

Outdoorcsalmon bake. Salad bar had great tasting sides. I enjoyed the salmon, fried cod, and prime rib. Had some mixed reviews from others in out party.
Scott H — Google review
When you go to a seafood restaurant, you expect the fish to be the star of the show. Sadly, ours didn’t even make it past the audition. The salmon was so overcooked it could’ve been repurposed as a hockey puck, and the halibut? Let’s just say it was dry enough to qualify as a desert exhibit. The sides were so unseasoned, I started wondering if the chef had taken a vow against spices. Honestly, the only thing saving this meal from complete disaster was the prime rib egg rolls—those were the Beyoncé of the night while the seafood played backup vocals from a mile away. If you’re going for seafood, you might want to bring your own seasoning and a gallon of sauce. But hey, if you like prime rib egg rolls, you’re in luck—they’re the real catch here.
Juan R — Google review
We were not expecting this to be on the park but it turned out to be great. The line moved quickly. There was seating in the dining room. The music level was fine for eating, it is only loud at the doorway. Surprisingly the salmon was very good

2025 This place is a lot more than the Pit-baked, fresh, delicious salmon. This place is a museum, it is a small park with lots of walking space to hang out, antique machines, and indoor and ourdoor eatry. Back to salmon: I have seen Salmon in lower 48 States, this salmon is the real deal. Simply fresh, pit-baked with love and care, juicy, flaky, and yummy. I thought I couldnt finish one steak, I ended up going for another one. You have to try it for yourself. For dessert, I tried the blueberry short cake. I thought I will try a spoon or two, I finished the whole thing. Delicious. Enjoy few pictures and a video with smiling staff and pit expert. Highly Highly Highly Recomended !!! 2023 Awesome experience. The best Salmon i had. Fresh no doubt, you dont find this kind of Salmon in Indiana. Sorry my plate do not much because i eat it all. I had grilled Salmon. Must try is fried potatoes.

This was an excellent experience, set in a super interesting setting with all the mining exhibits. You are treated to the smoky aroma of the wood fire cooking the food. Food was delicious. Prime rib and nice selection of fish. Of course the wife had to try the crab legs. Yum. Beer and wine drinks, the ladies had a wonderful pitcher of sangria. I drank both of the IPAs. Highly recommended

Had a great final meal in Fairbanks at this establishment! Staff members were very friendly. Arrived at 5pm on a Tuesday and it wasn’t crowded. Had the $30 salmon plate that came with the salad barn, potatoes, green beans, and rolls and was not disappointed at all. Received a huge pice of fish and had to turn down the second one he was trying to add to my plate. Cashier suggested a spoonful of the sweet marinade be added to the salmon and she was so right! Sat outside under the trees. Really enjoyed this dinner!

HooDoo Brewing Company is a neighborhood microbrewery and taproom in Fairbanks, Alaska. It offers European-style craft beers and tours for visitors. The brewery's beer garden is a popular spot for locals and tourists to enjoy a drink, even during the coldest days of the year when outdoor fire pits keep everyone warm.
Good beer, good vibes, limited indoor seating. We visited on a Wednesday at 3pm and it was (relatively) packed! Every seat inside was taken. But the beer was great and the fires were going outside so we alternated between standing inside and outside! Highly recommend for anyone visiting the Fairbanks area! The staff were all super friendly and welcoming! They even recommended another brewery to visit after!

Beer here is rich in flavor. The establishment offers both indoor seating and an open-air area. The burgers are exceptional.

I loved the vibe at this place, super happening and the beer is great. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn’t for the no-dog policy plus not really kids friendly (see picture, kids ok as long as they don’t act like kids). Such a beautiful, big patio and it’s a brewery with food trucks, come on!!!
Monkey B — Google review
Out of all the breweries in downtown Fairbanks… this was by far #1. The beers and environment were above the others. Their communal outdoor area with fire pits is a nice touch. The food truck was good too!
Steve C — Google review
Great beer, great company. Wonderful patio to spend the evening out on while enjoying a few brews and food from the featured food truck.
Bailey J — Google review
THE local hangout in Fairbanks; the cool place local Alaskans want to be for after work beer or to show off to visiting friends and family; the kind of “chill” place that is cool with the younger crowd but comfortable for the older crowd. Variety of food trucks visit to get your grub on and the beer is first rate. I don’t know if it would add or detract from HooDoos to have a full pub/tavern kitchen and paved parking lot, so I also don’t know if that’s what is missing…or perhaps it’s just right!
Jason C — Google review
Loved the beer and food truck, but was disappointed at family friendliness. Was there with my grandkids and server made it a point to let us know "Kids need to be seated, no running around", even while outside. We had the only kids. Now I know why (visiting from SC). Would not recommend if family outing with kids.

I come to Fairbanks often for work and HooDoo is my favorite spot to drink. My favorite beer is their Octoberfest (seasonal) followed by Kolsch. They have a small indoor seating space and a large outdoor space to include several benches and a few fire pits. Their employees are friendly and the ambience is great! They have food trucks that rotate out on a daily basis. The one downfall is that they are brewery which, in Alaska, means that you can only order 36 oz. Per day. One great surprise is that their bathrooms are very clean and they have super soft toilet paper! The brewery is great during both summer and winter months.

Located in Fairbanks, Alaska, the Big Dipper Ice Arena was originally an airplane hangar and has now been transformed into a spacious venue for hockey practice and home games of the Ice Dogs of the North American Hockey League. Visitors can easily find the arena using Google Maps and enjoy ice skating without large crowds during weekdays. The facility also offers Pickleball courts set up by the Borough, welcoming players with no membership or fees required at the time of writing.
We were in Fairbanks for just a few days and got lucky that the Fairbanks Ice Dogs had a home game. Even better they won and we saw some fights in a fun, family-friendly arena. It’s smaller than what we’re used to in Charlotte, NC but that made it more fun because everyone was so close to the ice. Friendly staff; decent bathrooms and beer selection.

Visited Big Dipper Ice Arena for honeymoon/vacation. I fell in love. We visited Fairbanks, AK for extended vacation/honeymoon and while in Fairbanks we found Big Dipper Ice Arena. We decided to visit there because I had never been ice skating ever. Found the Big Dipper easily with google maps. Called for available hours and went right when they opened. It was during the weekday so there was not a crowd when I visited but I did get to meet the owner/manager and husband. We got to talking like if we were old friends. Both of them were very helpful. They were aware that this was my first time ice skating and gave me the preparations and equipment I needed to have a safe and fun time. I was on my own as soon as I found my ice legs and fell in love. I would recommend this to be one of the stops on your visit to Fairbanks, AK. The staff was friendly and personable. They were extremely knowledgeable and will make sure that you have a fun safe time. The vibe there is very chill, no pun intended, safe and family friendly. In my opinion this is a 10/10 great, great fun. I hope you visit Big Dipper Ice Arena if you do visit Fairbanks, AK and I hope you do the same as I did and fall in love with it, even if you fall for real.

This is a great place for anyone who wants to ice skate to go. The rates and rental fees for open skating are very reasonable. Parking is free. I had never been on ice skates before and it wasn't hard to tell but I used one of the learning aids (looks like a walker without wheels) and I was skating in no time, not great mind you but I stayed upright. I had such a great time with my kids that I can't wait to go back.

We had a lot of fun watching hockey games here. There are a few options for places on the upper floor to buy snacks and drinks, some places offer alcoholic beverages, and others everything from hot dogs to popcorn. The place itself isn’t the cleanest, but it is a hockey stadium so that’s to be expected. A lot of people go there for the games. I suggest getting to the games early so you have an awesome spot to watch from and you can get parking close by.

Shopping mall
Bentley Mall in Fairbanks, Alaska, offers a unique shopping experience that reflects the local vibe. While it may not resemble a traditional mall, it features a selection of stores primarily focused on clothing and accessories. Shoppers can explore popular brands like American Eagle, Hot Topic, and Torrid among others. The mall is clean and well-maintained but has limited options with only about ten shops available. It’s an ideal spot for picking up gifts or trendy sneakers rather than spending hours browsing.
I think it's a bit of a stretch to call this place a mall, but as far as Fairbanks goes it's a pretty great place to browse the different shops and it's a great time killer in the afternoon.

Customers appreciate the excellent food and warm ambiance at this gem of a restaurant. The owners are highly regarded for their hospitality and the staff is known for being helpful and knowledgeable.
The food was amazing and the staff was so kind. I got the ABC breakfast burrito and it was one of the best burritos I’ve ever had.

The food just wasn't good. I got vegetable beef soup. The soup had 1 piece of beef about 1 inch long and maybe a half inch wide. It was heavy on canned green beans and had some celery and onions in it along with the watery broth. I couldn't eat it. I also got a BLT. I'm not sure how you can cook bacon so hard that it isn't chewable. The server was sweet and the atmosphere was ok, but I can't recommend this place. I'm sorry!

Unfortunately there was only one server for entire restaurant until after 8. I waited 25 minutes before ordering and another 20 minutes before food arrived. Hashbrowns and Canadian bacon were dry, but eggs, link sausage, and bacon were all good. Prices are reasonable.

Ordered food via UberEats and got held up with my kiddos. I didn't even realize until after I grabbed my food that when I picked up they had already closed for the day and stayed open for me. Horrendous on my part, but the staff here was amazing and didn't make me feel bad about it at all! All that and the food was still good even being so late. I stopped in for lunch and had a disappointing time while here. The waitress from another section saw me without a menu and sitting for 5 minutes without being helped so brought me a menu. The buss boy saw i had not been brought water or had my drink order taken so helped by bringing me a water. After an additional 10-15 minutes my waitress came and took my order, only to return 20 minutes later to inform me that the chef couldn't make what I ordered and needed me to pick something else. The food wasn't bad or excellent. After eating I waited 5 minutes for my check. After the waitress never came I just went to the take out counter to check out and asked them to ring me up because too much of my time has been waisted. The two stars for service was for the other waitress and bus boy helping to cover the poor quality of service provided by my waitress.

Diner
Denny's is a classic American diner chain that specializes in all-day breakfast favorites and super trashy decor. The 24-hour Denny's location near the Arctic Circle is especially interesting.
I can’t give this place any less than 5 stars because I have so many childhood memories of coming here for food. The place is open 6AM to 11:30 pm, although the DRIVE THRU is open 24 hours. I ordered the eggs benedict and my Aunt got the salmon. Really sweet back to the 80’s vibe over here. Breakfast served all day and all night long. My eggs benedict was much better than I expected, it was awesome! Came back for the drive thru and everything on the inside menu is available thru the drive through. Seamless experience!

Husband and I both got the chicken fried chicken, it sat in the food window for 7 minutes. When it got to the table the potatos and veggies were cold. The only thing hot on our plates was the chicken and toast. The gravy was like paste and so salty it made us sick to our stomache, and full of lumps. This was the worst meal we have ever had. The paste like lumpy gravy was so salty it ruined everything it touched. Service was real bad. Nobody even asked of it was ok or not. They have lost our business for good. To top that off my husband wanted brown gravy, but they put white paste on his food too. I do not recommend this place, go to Mc Donald's instead. At least they have standards for food served.

Speedy service, not truly 24 hours, seemed short staffed the morning we went in. The food was great and the atmosphere was homey. I tried the strawberry banana smoothie and it was so good, Fresh fruit! The Philly cheese stake sandwich was just okay.

Service was horrible. I ordered a double cheeseburger and only got a burger and a half. They forgot the broccoli on my wifes order only got four tater tots. They thought it was funny when i went inside to complain.

Chinese restaurant
Bamboo Panda is a local Chinese restaurant that offers a variety of dishes, including Mongolian beef and pork fried rice. Customers appreciate the generous portion sizes and quick service, with some preferring it over larger chain restaurants. The staff is known for their kindness and efficiency in handling orders. While some have noted minor issues with order accuracy or occasional overcooking of certain dishes, overall the food is described as tasty and filling at an affordable price.
Best Chinese food in Fairbanks, maybe Alaska. Fast, fresh, always large portions, and so delicious. Usually, getting it for takeout the atmosphere is something to be desired, but don't worry, the food is always good.
Amanda S — Google review
We have been coming to Bamboo Panda for years and it is a great place to feed the family on a budget. The food is generally great, with huge portions, enough for two or more meals. They are also super speedy, I placed a takeout order and three minutes later I was walking out with my food. Not a place you would go for atmosphere, but for a quick hearty bite!
Alaena H — Google review
Very disappointed in bamboo Panda today. I ordered Mongolian beef for myself and coconut shrimp for my husband. Mongolian beef was dry and flavorless. These shrimp was the worst though. My husband couldn't eat it. It was rubbery, not breaded. it was rubbery and tasteless. It looked nothing like the picture which was beautifully brown and crispy. No coconut breading. The order photo showed seven large shrimp. We got plain popcorn shrimp with no seasoning or flavor. The dish I got was in no way the dish that was advertised. See photo below. I have been a long time customer of bamboo panda but probably won't be going back after this.

Lots of food for a great price. Workers can speak Chinese. Recently went there for dinner and had enough food left over that I had it for Breakfast and Lunch the next day.

I couldn't believe this restaurant after ordering food for 20 plus years, had the audacity to make a unauthorized transaction on my grandfather's debit card charging him two times luckily we went to the bank and the bank supervisor told us if we had made a second purchase at this restaurant and we where confused well we didn't make a second purchase for food. So I would strongly advise the public to be careful when ordering for delivery with them they lost my business as a customer I wonder how times they have gotten away with this...

Been coming here for years but recently they’ve gone down hill , their hot and sour soup tasted like straight sesame oil no flavor or anything - I returned and got my money back and I’m not the kind of person to do that ..: won’t be back again
Nia M — Google review
Edit: 3/31/21 I ordered from here about 3 to 4 weeks ago again, as I normally did once every 2 weeks, and my food was disgusting ... RAW CHICKEN... I opened up my sesame chicken meal, noticed a long thin tendon as I picked up the chicken to put it on my plate... I shrugged it off, sometimes they use scrap meat... Well I tried to continue on, when I picked up the meat to eat I noticed the texture was different. I cut it to see, RAW! I was so grossed out. I called to tell them and they did not seem to concerned. I drove back to get another order... They didn't applogize or act shocked that they gave me raw chicken! I took the replacement food and went home. The new batch was cooked, but the meat looked like scrap meat and I was so grossed out from the raw chicken I threw it all away. I have not gone back since. I was a regular, but noticed it started slipping, I shrugged it off... But raw chicken could kill someone it make them severely sick. I also couldn't believe how they didn't really seem to care. Makes me question how clean they are and their sanitary practices. I now order from hot pot from across the street. Below is my prior review from a few months ago, at the time I have a better review.: This place is pretty consistent with their food not 100% but pretty close. The vegetables are always fresh, the food's always fresh. I love their fried rice and sesame chicken. Also, their large shrimp mixed vegetables is really good. I used to not like their soups but my last order I tried their hot and sour again and it was really good somehow they changed it. I also like your vegetable lo mein If you call in for pick up there literally ready 5 minutes later, deliveries the standard 45 minutes. My takeout order is correct 9.5 times out of 10! My favorite Chinese food in Fairbanks. I tried other places and was always disappointed. Like: mushy rice, over cooked food, too greasy or not fresh. The picture is from DELIVERY! It was so fresh even though it was delivery, and -35F!

Greek restaurant
Bobbys Downtown is a great place to get Greek food in Fairbanks, Alaska. The restaurant has a full bar and table service, making it the perfect spot for a romantic night out or a fun night with friends. The dishes on the menu are all mouthwatering, and there's something for everyone on the menu. If you're looking for an amazing meal in Fairbanks, Bobbys Downtown is definitely worth checking out!
I came in to Bobby’s after I was walking around downtown looking for a good hearty dinner place. I was immediately drawn in by the delicious smell coming from their direction. I ordered the Halibut which was served with a side salad, rice seasonal veggies(carrots and potatoes) and of course the halibut which was cooked to perfection. The staff was amazingly attentive and friendly, the inside decor is gorgeous and the place was clean. It’s a little on the pricey side but what can you do, it’s Alaska. In my opinion Bobby’s was pretty hooked up the portion was good and not exaggerating in size.

Went out for drinks but ended up getting some appetizers as well. The drinks were very good and not super expensive (they also have a pretty decent number of options for cocktails). The calamari was good too. The mussels were cooked well just wished they were a little bigger. And the leafy greens with the ground beef filling😭 sooo good! The service was great! We had not made a reservation but the staff still looked to accommodate us as quickly as they could, maybe a 5 minute wait. But the host and waiters where phenomenal. I will say the place smelled just a bit funky when we first entered but I think that’s because someone has a dish with some sort of sea food on it. But aside that it’s a wonderful place!

On our first night in FAIRBANKS we found BOBBY'S DOWNTOWN, and were seated immediately at a white linen table. I chose a few beers from their extensive drink menu. My wife ordered a ridiculously delicious Moussaka served with carrots, while I ordered a beef tenderloin gyro, served with potatoes & veggies. Both dishes were fantastic & if we had more time in Fairbanks we would've gone back again, because everything on their menu looks awesome.

We are on cruise, had a stop here & my hubby & myself decided to make a small trip to downtown Fairbanks. Like many small towns, we walked around saw the Town Square small shops & stumbled upon Bobby Downtown to eat dinner. Little did we know that this restaurant serves Greek food! We visited Athens Greece a few years back & fell in love with Greek food. We are from German descent with dinners of meat, potatoes/ gravy & green beans. So this dinner was refreshing, a delight & most of all yummy! Big plus our waiter was always at our call! Great service. Many thanks & found Fairbanks a delight to visit & the temperature was marvelous! Donna Geisinger from KC,MO.

We had a wonderful dinner here. It’s classic low key Greek ambience. The hostess was so nice, as was our server, Kristie. My Rack of Lamb was delicious and the broiled Halibut was very good. The Twister IPA was great and the Alexander Valley Cab Sav. Excellent. The bathrooms (esp the woman’s) are legendary!! So clean and cool! My only opportunity area is that the Greek Salad is a modest upgrade ($3) vs the one included in the dinner, but it had only 1 Kalamata olive, and no red onion, and too many green peppers. Still, this is one of the best dinners in Fairbanks! VictorB

My recent visit to Bobby's Mediterranean Restaurant in Fairbanks was outstanding! The food was full of flavor and absolutely delicious. The portions were generous, and be warned: the appetizers are huge—a great value, but plan to share! Everything we ordered was fantastic. The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable, making for a lovely evening out. What really made the night was the exceptional service provided by our waiter, Brian. He was attentive, helpful, and truly made the experience fun and enjoyable. If you're in Fairbanks and craving authentic, flavorful Mediterranean cuisine with great service, Bobby's is the place to go!

Food just wasn't good, I had the halibut special and it was under seasoned and also just tasted old. My server was awesome, super friendly and talkative. The environment was good but I wish the food was too. We also had the dolmas appetizer. Very very salty - but decent.

Food great, staff fantastic! Would have been a fantastic dinner but there was a party of 10-12 women sitting across the room who were so ridiculously loud there were times we couldn't hear our little table of 4 talking! Require large parties use the private room you have so as to not ruin the dining experience of your other customers.

Day 3

Proximity is everything
For day 3, we bundled attractions like University of Alaska Museum of the North and Alaska Fishing and Rafting Adventures and other places within a close range, so that the time it takes to travel between all of them is less than one hour. Combined with the average time people spend there, your day should take about 7 hours.

Museums
The University of Alaska Museum of the North is a modern museum in Fairbanks, Alaska, known for its diverse exhibits on the state's art, science, and history. The museum's contemporary building is designed to reflect the Alaskan landscape with elements resembling mountains, glaciers, and rivers. Its main attraction is the Rose Berry Alaska Art Gallery featuring a wide range of artworks by Alaskan artists throughout history.
This is a fascinating natural history museum. There is so much to see. There is a schedule of when videos are playing. They have an art museum as well. The gift shop is small but has unique items. They also have a little cafe that you can stop at. There is an elevator for those who cannot climb stairs. We spent a lot of time walking through the museum. They offer a veteran/military discount as well as a senior discount.

Informative and worth the cost of admission. So much to look at, learn, and so many interesting experiences to have. I highly recommend experiencing “The Place Where You Go To Listen”, if only for a couple of minutes. Additionally, if you catch it on the right day, you might also get a glimpse of Denali like we did. We didn’t know how lucky we were as we had just arrived in Alaska for the first time but there’s a fantastic vista very close to the parking lot. In addition to the natural history exhibits, there is a lot of art to see by Alaskan artists along with native exhibits and exploration artifacts and equipment. So much cool stuff to experience that really set the tone for our great Alaska adventure. Don’t miss it!

Museum itself is great, definitely worth the price of admission. I love the way the main exhibits are set out and how many topics are covered. If you're freaked out by taxidermy, be aware that there is a lot, but it's mostly well done and always tasteful. One star taken away because I had hoped to get lunch and had half a sandwich that was mid and overpriced even for your average museum cafe. But cafe aside, I had a great time here and especially loved all the pinniped carvings and masks 💖

I’ve always loved museums, they offer a deeper connection to the place you’re in. The University of Alaska Museum of the North in Fairbanks was no exception. It’s where Alaska’s raw beauty and rich history meet under one roof. One of the most unforgettable exhibits was Blue Babe, a 36,000-year-old steppe bison preserved in permafrost. Standing next to it felt like looking through a window into the Ice Age. The towering brown bear, over 9 feet tall and 1,200 pounds, was just as awe-inspiring — a true symbol of survival in Alaska’s harshest landscapes. But what really stood out was how the museum honors Alaska’s living culture. From Indigenous art to creative displays made of old license plates and family heirlooms, every corner told a story that was emotional, personal, and powerful. You can also see the faces and read stories throughout the halls — that are inspiring, humbling, and even heartbreaking. Before you leave, don’t miss the microscope station. Take your time — it’s an incredible hands-on peek into the tiniest layers of Alaska’s natural world.

An Absolute Must-See in Fairbanks! This museum is a true gem and an essential stop for anyone visiting or living in Fairbanks. The stunning architecture is the first thing you'll notice, and what's inside is just as impressive. It provides a fantastic look into the rich natural, cultural, and artistic history of Alaska.
Lucio Q — Google review
We really enjoyed our visit to the Museum of the North. Great place to learn about Alaskan history!! We spent about 2-2.5 hours here but could have spent way longer if we wanted to look at the exhibits even more in depth! One thing to note is that parking is not free, we didn’t know that before visiting but it was only $4.50 or so for 3 hours so it’s not expensive at all.
Jolene B — Google review
It's a beautifully and tastefully made Museum amidst scenic area. They also play few short movies on Dinosaur Research and Aurora Borealis of Alaska. Ticket charges are 22 USD for foreigners. Houses massive whale and other Animal fossils. A small ruck store is there though expensive. May other unique preserves and history on the walls. Theres a very interestingly constructed Quite Room where some earthy sounds are played. A must visit while in Fairbanks.

Spent a day fishing with my wife, son, and 6-year-old grandson. Tyson, our guide, exceeded every possible expectation. I caught a graying on my first cast. To top that, in 67 years this is the first time I used a fly rod, and caught a nice graying on my FIRST cast. He was great with my grandson and shared his significant knowledge and experiences in the outdoors casually and enjoyably.
Mobodo — Google review
Tyson was an excellent guide for our grayling fishing experience. The clear water trip out of Delta was well worth the trip. The water was stunning and Tyson helped point out fish we could see under the waters surface from the boat. We got to fish both spinning reels and fly rods, and were able to make our take home limit and catch fish all day long. Tyson was a patient instructor since it’s been a long time since I have used a fly rod and I was very willing to have help with his coaching my cast. Despite my novice fly fishing skill we caught so many fish. A great first Alaska fishing experience for me. The boat ride alone was beautiful, and a professional and knowledge guide who is easy to fish with made the day fly by. I would absolutely book with Tyson again and highly recommend.

We had an absolutely incredible trip! Tyson was a fantastic guide—knowledgeable, patient, and fun to spend the day with. Everyone in our group landed plenty of Silver Salmon and Grayling, which made for an unforgettable experience on the water. What impressed us most was how Tyler worked with the two first-time fly fishermen in our group. Not only did he take the time to teach them the basics, but he also had them both successfully hooked up with Salmon and Grayling by the end of the trip. Watching their excitement made the whole adventure even better. Highly recommend this trip and especially Tyson as a guide. Sorry, Tyson — I must have typed so badly that even spell check gave up and changed it to Tyler! Fixed Now.

Unforgettable Ice Fishing & Aurora Tour! Our experience with Alaska Fishing and Rafting Adventures was absolutely incredible, thanks to our amazing guide, Tyson! From start to finish, he made sure our ice fishing adventure was both exciting and comfortable, providing top-notch gear, expert guidance, and plenty of great stories along the way. Tyson’s knowledge of the area was impressive, and he went above and beyond to ensure we had the best possible experience. The highlight of the trip? Witnessing the breathtaking Aurora Borealis under the vast Alaskan sky—it was truly magical! If you’re looking for an authentic, well-organized, and unforgettable Alaskan adventure, look no further. Huge thanks to Tyson and the entire team—we’ll definitely be back.

Tyson was absolutely amazing! Caught and released 22 greyling myself after he (so graciously did not have to do) teach me a little about fly fishing! Our entire group had so much fun and he was super knowledgeable about the area, fishing, and all the odd ball questions about Alaska we had. The company also had great communication through the whole booking process.

My son and I booked the delta Clearwater grayling trip and it was 100% worth it! Beautiful river, great fishing and our guide Tyson was a God send. So good at his job. The other people on the boat with us were great too and we had an absolute blast. Highly recommend!

My husband and I absolutely loved our Delta Clearwater Trophy Grayling Day Trip with Tayson! We caught great fish and the river was absolutely stunning and Tayson was a fantastic guide. My husband and I went on two tours with Alaska fishing and rafting. We did the ice fishing tour at Fairbanks and the dog sledding tour at Nenana. The experience was excellent, both guides were friendly and knowledgeable. We caught several king and coho salmons and the guide cooked for us on the spot. The dog sledding tour was also great, the track was very long and the scenery was beautiful. It was worthy the 1 hr drive from Fairbanks to Nenana.

Nestled along the picturesque Chena River, River's Edge Resort offers a charming escape with its quaint cottages and rooms. The well-equipped, self-catering houses provide tranquil views of the leafy garden, while the waterfront restaurant, Chenas Alaskan Grill, serves up delectable wild-caught Alaskan salmon and halibut. Situated on 13 acres of pristine Alaskan landscape, this resort provides a more private retreat compared to others in Fairbanks.
We stayed in there Rivers Edge river front cabins. Let me start off with WOW. Couldn't ask to be treated any better. The cabin alone the river was clean . The staff was very friendly and helpful. They sure did a top notch job. Great gift shop. Thanks for all your help.

The service at this place is excellent. The shuttle was at the train station when we arrived and was available when we needed it for the riverboat and airport. They held our luggage for us as we had an evening flight. Accommodations were modest but comfortable. We were walking distance to a grocery store and coffee/bagel shop. It was a unique cottage experience if you are looking for something different instead of a hotel. They also had a nice RV park next door. We did not est on the property but they have a breakfast buffet and a restaurant open for dinner.

Unaccommodating, extremely rude staff. I typically don’t write reviews, but had to share my experience at Rivers Edge. We are here because of an excursion with the Norwegian cruise line. After a day of touring the area, I asked to fill my water bottle with the filtered water from the dining area at Rivers Edge where we are staying. I was informed by a lady at the front desk that I could not get water from there and my alternative was the sink water in my room or the sink water in the kitchen, leaving no option for filtered water. The machine sounded like it was actively running. Apparently this lady is a rotating “fixer” of issues at any of this company’s 25 locations. I feel that she is encouraging horrible customer service. Also, this “resort” is dirty, musty, and outdated. I wish that Norwegian would choose another hotel in the area to partner with. I will not be recommending this excursion to others. The tour guides and tour itself were fantastic. I loved seeing Fairbanks.

We were part of a 24 RV caravan (Newmar Kountry Klub) and really enjoyed the RV park. We stayed several nights and did a lot of touring during the day. Our charter bus had no issues picking us up or dropping us off. Great location to see all of Fairbanks!

Chena's Alaskan Grill is a laid-back eatery in Fairbanks, Alaska that offers a delightful dining experience. The restaurant is known for its high-quality American comfort food, with many dishes prepared on the grill. Guests can enjoy their meals outdoors while taking in the serene river views. Despite being a popular spot for tourists, the friendly and attentive service adds to the overall appeal of this establishment.
Never went here before because I assumed it catered strictly to tourists. Fortunately other local favorites were booked and we had a wonderful time enjoying Hamburgers, beer, robust fruit salads and dessert on the deck along the river. Service was top notch . Afterwards we sat along the river adjacent to the resort enjoying conversations with travelers.

Enjoyed the meatloaf and seafood fettuccine, however they were very large serves and could easily be shared between two smaller eaters. Sat out on deck looking out over River, sipping on cocktails.

Our dining experience was great. The wait staff did provide excellent service. We had salmon and halibut dinners, 3 drinks, and 1 appetizer, and added seafood chowder to 1 meal, the cost $140! I rated 4 stars because the halibut was cooked perfect, the salmon was too dried and not very flavorful. Each meal had a nice piece of fish, vegetable medley, and garlic mashed potatoes. The portion was plenty. I do recommend the Halibut Dinner. This was for 2 diners! Check the menu on the website, seems like it changes from time to time looking at other postings.

It's a very nice place. The inside and outside seating is comfortably spaced. The staff was friendly and attentive. I had a short menu, which is fine. It covered steaks and salmon to burgers and fish & chips. My salmon came with fries that tasted like they were deep fried in butter. I loved them. The views are great, but I chose to eat inside due to bugs. I'd recommend having some repellent or going when there's a breeze.

The food was very delicious. Went many times during the trip and the prices were a bit more but that’s Alaska. The salmon was original and tasty, the seafood pasta was excellent as well. Honestly have no complaints. Service was prompt and our waiter was very informative for any questions we had.

Had dinner last night ,the food was fantastic! They use hot plates so food comes out hot and fresh ! We had the seafood chowder which was amazing ! Tried the calamari which is strips and comes with an apricot chili sauce which was so delicious we ordered coconut shrimp with the same sauce . Be sure to ask for the bread with pesto ! Add some wine for a lovely evening Our waiter , Petco was from Bulgaria and we so enjoyed his company and his service was beyond exceptional. Northern Alaska Tour Company

4.6
(444)
Sightseeing tour agency
The Northern Alaska Tour Company offers various tours to the Arctic Circle, allowing travelers to fly, drive, or combine both options based on their preferences and time constraints. The fly-and-drive excursion is particularly popular, providing stunning aerial views and a guided tour of Coldfoot before driving back to Fairbanks. Additionally, visitors can explore the vast 13.
We did the Arctic Circle Midnight Sun Drive Adventure on June 26 and it was great. Orren was our guide and he is a wealth of information, a great driver and an all-around friendly guy. Even after 18 hours together I wish we could have had more time to chat. On this day we shared a van with one other group on the outbound leg, then two other groups on the return trip. Orren made regular stops for rest breaks and photos. In addition to stopping at the Yukon River camp for both lunch and dinner (great), we stopped at the Trading Post, "finger mountain", and the pipeline. And of course the Arctic Circle sign. Orren also made a stop to dig in the tundra to let us touch the permafrost. The mosquitoes were quite bad in spots, Orren and some others had head netting - fortunately, they were not bad at the Arctic Circle sign that day. It's a long day of riding so be prepared for that but with such beautiful and interesting scenery to look at and Interesting discussion the trip surpassed our expectations.

Absolutely amazing tour company. I did the Arctic circle southbound tour. Our guide Dan was the most knowledgeable and caring person ever. He is a real expert on everything arctic and shares his knowledge. From beginning to end this tour company set up expectations clearly. Absolutely recommended.

My friend and I took a tour with the Northern Alaska Tour Company a week prior to our trip, and they were able to accommodate it. We stopped at the Dalton Highway, Yukon River camp for lunch and dinner, the Arctic Circle tourist stop, Alaska Pipeline photo ops, and the cabin they own to see the Aurora Borealis. We were very lucky to be able to see the Borealis clear and bright that evening, and both drivers, Sabrena and Orin, were professional, courteous, informative, and more importantly, very safe drivers. We went in mid-March, where snow and black ice were still on the road, and they were very careful and communicative to everyone. This Arctic Circle and Aurora 18 hour long trip is highly recommended to everyone who wants to see the best of Fairbanks, Alaska!

We did the 3 day Arctic Ocean Adventure Southbound and this was a well planned tour. The pace was appropriate. The tour guide (Tim) was AMAZING 🤩. The accommodations were primitive but clean and all part of the experience. I thought the food was good and reasonably priced for where we were. I would 💯 recommend booking this tour!
Dianne S — Google review
I was really looking forward to the Arctic Circle Aurora Fly Drive Adventure tour, especially after seeing what others experienced on previous tours. The flight to Coldfoot was awesome! The pilot was friendly and professional. The van tour around Coldfoot and down to the Arctic circle sign was fun and informative, our guide, Layton, friendly and engaging. That's where the fun ended. Unceremoniously, we were transferred to the motor coach to continue our trip back to Fairbanks. The ride was rough. The coach was cramped. The coach sounded like it was going to fall apart as we made the journey down the road. We made no stops to see the pipeline up close or learn of its history or operation. We made no stops to explore and learn about the tundra and permafrost. We did stop to pick blueberries. Blueberries I can get at the grocery store. I didn't need to go blueberry picking. Our stop at the Yukon felt like an afterthought after the Yukon River Camp called the driver and told him to delay dinner arrival by 30 minutes. When we stopped to look for the Northern lights, our driver pointed up at a slightly luminous cloud and said "There They Are!" Uh, no, they aren't (picture included). He later admitted it was just a cloud and said he would stop in another location to look for the lights (none there either). We finally rolled into Fairbanks around 2:30am, and by the time we dropped everyone off at their hotels, it was 3:00 am by the time we got back to the office. TLDR version: 1st half of tour is great, second half is miserable. I wish I would have done the Air Adventure instead to avoid the drive down the Dalton Highway.

Summer flight to the arctic circle, was a very interesting and educational experience, we we landed in Coldfoot camp and a guide picked us up, drove us to Wiseman, AK Jack, a local gave a really interesting and educational talk and small tour, he is an encyclopedia of knowledge and very entertaining as well. Cool experience

Took two tours, recommend both highly. Homestead tour with Sarah was very organized, from all of the lights to help find our way safely in the dark, to the hot coco and apple cider. The tripods were especially helpful. Sarah worked very hard to make the experience meaningful even if the weather didn’t cooperate. The Denali tour with Don was fantastic. He is a wealth of information and his passion for the area is clear. On both tours we felt safe, the vans were well maintained and comfortable.

We did the Arctic ocean shuttle tour. The guide was entertaining and knowledgeable. Make sure that you’re on time so that you do not miss the shuttle. There was complementary coffee. The Arctic Ocean was great to finally get to. The only thing keeping this from being five stars is there’s nowhere to change clothes or get cleaned up after leaving the Arctic ocean unless you are booked with the hotel or at least a hotel in town. They do give a complementary towel but a little bit more is needed from swimming in the brackish water. Also, the tour company has access to get to the Arctic Ocean, where otherwise you might not be able to. We saw bear, Caribou, and lots of birds.

Pizza restaurant
East Ramp Wood Fired Pizza is a popular spot in Fairbanks, Alaska, known for its casual dining experience and delicious pizza options. Customers can create their own 12-inch pie or choose from special flights like the Jalapeno Piper and Porco Rosso. The restaurant, located on the edge of the city's airstrip, is owned by Wendy Ehnert who prioritizes supporting local breweries over carrying out-of-state beers.
This is a great pizza place. Every part of it was a unique experience. I will say the pizza was delicious. The crust was more crackery*, but I actually liked it with this pizza. Delicious as I imagined. I would say this is great for a good pizza. Big things, they have other items as well accommodating various food allergies. WARNING - stairs access only. But it was worth the *flights.*
Mason H — Google review
Very cool setting with large windows to watch planes on the ramp and taking off and landing. Good selection of local beers. The pizza is pretty good with fresh toppings. You pretty much “build your own” pizza which gives plenty of flexibility.
Brian S — Google review
Pizza was great, crust was thin and a little floppy but not bad, tasty crust! And you could see the airfield with planes taking off and fire support scoop planes refilling! So cool, staff was friendly and helpful!
Eric S — Google review
Counter-service pizza joint next to the General Aviation parking area at FAI. Likely the best 'za I've put in my mouth, ever. I started with Roni Rolls, which I finished, and then had the Porco Rosso, which was also most excellent. I can't wait to go back - but it's a long drive from Kansas.

Such a cool staff, always kind and supportive. Gluten and dairy free pizza- whatttt and it’s actually good!!?? Sweet place. Thank you for a perfect pizza
Jade B — Google review
Good beer and even better pizza! All of the ingredients were tasty and the crust was phenomenal. I'm only visiting for a week, but I will be returning to this place when I come back next year!!!
John B — Google review
A nice pizza joint near the east ramp airport. The place is a bit of self service. You pick your pizza, sauce, toppings etc and write it down in a checklist of sort and hand in at the billing desk post which they will bring it to your table. The menu is veru customizable with fair vegetarian selections. The outside view is of the airport runway where you can see a lot of small planes. Overall worth the visit as this is arguably the best pizza joint in Fairbanks
SANTOSH J — Google review
I stopped in for lunch today while I had some time to kill before my flight. Ease Ramp Pizza is literally across the runway on the other side of the airport from the terminal. It’s five minutes from the terminal. You go in, grab a pen and paper and circle what you want. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and it was outstanding. The crust was flavorful, perfectly thin, and chewy. There were plenty of toppings, including cheese. They were super quick as well. One thing to note that I don’t believe I’ve ever seen, they offer a dairy free option. I didn’t need to try it, but had my wife been with me it would have given her an option as well. Great pizza. I’ll be back for sure

American restaurant
The Oasis Restaurant & Lounge is a well-located American restaurant with comfortable seating and an extensive menu of sandwiches and burgers as well as breakfast items. In addition, the bar features beer, wine, and cocktails, making it the perfect place to watch your favorite sports games. However, despite this great value for money, service can be poor at times due to staff shortages.
A very tasty bloody Mary! Great service and very helpful when we had people coming and going in our group. Food came out and was delicious. I tried the pretzel eggs Benedict and would highly recommend. Will definitely back!
Jenna W — Google review
Perfection is how I would describe oasis. I went there for breakfast this morning and I had the corned beef hash with eggs and toast. The corned beef hash is homemade. It is made from beef brisket. Let me tell you it is delicious. You will not get canned corned beef hash here at the oasis. Now let me take a moment to give a well-deserved compliment to my server, Oshi. I have dined at five star restaurants where the service was not as good as it was at The Oasis this morning. She is a 5 star server who genuinely cares about her customers. I sincerely hope the owners see what a gem the have in Oshi. Thanks for an outstanding breakfast!

Great service, great food, good beer selection. Finally found a new go to! Best fish n chips in town so far. None of that greasy smooth liquid fry beer batter. White and fresh tasting without the previously frozen flake texture

Couldn’t have asked for more from this place. They.greeted me, handed me a beer and I ate some fried food and left happy and full. Will be back again. Those servings were on point!

I really enjoyed my experience here. Great beer and liquor selection. The bartender Carolina was knowledgeable about all of the spirits and beer that they had on tap. She was friendly and engaged me in conversation. Music was good. Not too loud, but loud enough to enjoy. Bar was quiet when I got here, so the bartender let me choose what was on TV. Super chill good place to kill time while I waited for my flight.

Any opportunity I get to come out here for breakfast I down. This place personally has good reasonable priced food. I like my chicken fried steak, hasshbrown, black coffee, over easy eggs and lasty my rye toast and, for the side order a butter milk pancake...that's good eating. Oasis, is out here in Fairbanks, AK, right next to a bank. The place decent and friendly atmosphere, the service is pretty fast, the waitress was om point plus the bartender jumps to help. I really that the bartender sees the only one waitress taking order. I must say she is bad ass as well how all the staff work as a team. I personally recommended it. If yall's ever down here at Fairbanks, Alaska, come visit Oasis.

Coffee shop
Alaska Coffee Roasting Company, affectionately known as ACRC by locals, is a cozy and inviting coffee shop that offers a small variety of food items. It's a popular spot for students studying, business meetings, and even romantic dates. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it the perfect place to enjoy their delicious coffee and homemade food options. Visitors praise the comforting interior and friendly baristas who provide excellent customer service.
Warm, spacious coffee stop right off from the main road. All the coffee options you can imagine in great qualities plus pastries.

Tried their afagato coffee, shepherd's pie mocha, and peanut chocolate cupcake. Afagato is a lot for one person, It's best to bring a friend to share with. The peanut on cupcake was heavy and dense. I like their coffee, but the food is a little overpriced for a quick bite.

Lots of options! I thought the reindeer pocket was salty but would definitely try some other foods here bc they look great. FYI on the menu they have 2% but they only have skim.
Christina H — Google review
Came in on a rainy day, they were busy but the wait was reasonable plus they have plenty of seats! Got a reindeer pocket, spinach tomato and cheese frittata (forgot to take a pic), and a lavender blackberry scone. Also got an oat milk latte and husband got a seasonal drink. We are visiting Fairbanks for the first time, would recommend for anyone unsure of where to go for a coffee/breakfast spot. This place also has plenty of amazing looking desserts that we didn’t get to try. This place also makes personal pizzas that we saw someone other customers get so nice options all around

Loved the coffee, ambience, and the service! Kudos to the team! This place is a must visit if you are in Fairbanks. Coffee: large variety of selection. We laughed about not being able to understand the different types of coffee mentioned on the list but the taste made up for it! Ambience: it is quiet, peaceful. There are some board games if you want to spend some quality time. They provide WiFi (although it didn’t work when I tried) Service: excellent. They answered our questions, were patient, and overall good experience.

The food and coffee are good. You can go there for savory or sweet with your coffee. Shame on me that I did not have a chance to try their pizza. I love that 8-Oz size of cappuccino is offered. Friendly service.

Super cool coffee shop with tons of food options as well. I got one of the small pizzas with the reindeer sausage on it I believe. It was also cool how they had chess and checkers here to pass the time and fellowship. I crushed my opponent by the way. If I lived in this area, Alaska Coffee Roasting Company would be a personal regular stop.

Nice place for coffee, pizza and fresh baked goods daily. Went there for coffee to meet couple friends. Coffee didn’t agree with me. I thought coffee would be better for the price. They got nice selection of baked sweets, oven fired pizzas, coffees and more. All with convenient space for quiet cafe atmosphere. It was one of My Son’s favorite place when we lived near by, he has since passed away. So it was nice to go back. Wi-Fi is free, students can study there without interruption accept tables are close. Other than that I recommend a peek.

Japanese restaurant
Shogun Japanese Restaurant is a delightful, modern Japanese eatery in Fairbanks, Alaska. The ambiance and setting are relaxed and contemporary, while the sushi and hibachi fare is top-notch. The service is attentive and welcoming, making it the perfect spot for a special occasion or intimate dinner with friends.
Fantastic Dining Experience at Shogun Japanese Restaurant in Fairbanks If you’re looking for both spectacular food and entertainment in Fairbanks, Shogun Japanese Restaurant is the place to go! My family of eight visited during peak hours and, to our delight, we were seated within just two minutes. This wasn’t due to a lack of patrons—quite the opposite—the restaurant was bustling, but the staff’s efficiency and excellent service made the seating process seamless. The food at Shogun is nothing short of excellent. Although it deviates from traditional Japanese presentation, the artistic flair and craftsmanship of the chefs were truly a spectacle, capturing the attention and admiration of our kids. Each dish was a display of culinary art, enhancing the overall dining experience. We ordered the steak and chicken, both grilled to absolute perfection, and the gyoza, prepared in a traditional Japanese Hiroshima style, which was authentic and delicious. The restaurant also offered a variety of Japanese drinks, adding to the authenticity and depth of our meal. Shogun Japanese Restaurant is not just a place to eat; it’s a venue to experience the skill and creativity of the chefs, all while enjoying a meal that delights the senses. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable meal in Fairbanks!

My family went here for lunch. Great lunch prices/good serving sizes/ and the show is the main attraction. Try the yum yum sauce with your food. My kids really loved when he lit up the volcanoe on fire! Must go to stop for fairbanks especially if you would like lunch. There lunch hibachi was around estimated $15 a person and included almost everything the dinner options had.
Candace M — Google review
The cooking show was very fun to watch, and catching the broccoli in your mouth was also really fun! The hibachi scallop was very yummy and tender, as was the hibachi salmon. However, overall, the food is very heavily seasoned, and tastes overly salty and yet sweet. The veggies were very very good! Overall, pretty nice meal!
Alyssa Y — Google review
We celebrated a friend's bday there. The staff was warm and welcoming. Refilled our drinks without even asking for it. Food was great too.
Jocelyn E — Google review
The food portion was very good. Chef was entertaining and service was attentive. Most of us ordered chicken. The chicken was juicy and cooked well. There were other groups at our table and everyone enjoyed their dinner. The dinner was a good value for the price. We were surprised that they did not have chopsticks at an Asian restaurant. We would recommend this to anyone who is looking a fun dinner at a decent price.
Alice P — Google review
Overall, great meal with family and friends. Great venue for large parties. Food is cooked fresh right in front of you. No one cleared their plates, portions are pretty big. You can plan on spending around $40 per person for the meal. They do have beer and wine if you partake. Parties 6 and over are charged a 18% gratuity so check your bill prior to leaving an additional tip. The reason I gave three stars for the atmosphere, this place at one point was a 1970s pizza hut based off the building structure. They have done a great job making it in to what it is though. Service is excellent and the wait staff is very attentive. Recommend reservations for prompt seating.
Eric C — Google review
Had a good slow evening here with my partner, food was delicious and service was excellent. Thank you for your hard work!
Jamie S — Google review
Heard so many good things about this location. Our first day in Alaska from Houston we decided to try it and we can say it was a good experience. The food was delicious and the service was great. Our waiter was very attentive and never let us go thirsty, and our chef kept us entertained while cooking. The only downside was just the tight spot between us, which made it kind of difficult to have elbow room to eat and also the amount of food for the price. Overall, it was a great place to check out when in Alaska.
