Water & Amusement Parks
Theme Parks
Pioneer Park, also known as Alaskaland, is a 44-acre historical theme park in Fairbanks that offers a glimpse into frontier life without the commercialism of modern amusement parks. Visitors can explore various attractions such as the SS Nenana sternwheeler, The Crooked Creek & Whiskey Island Railroad, an Air Museum, and a Pioneer Museum showcasing early Alaskan life.
This was a fun stop. We didn't go to the salmon bake but we wandered around to see the various vendors and the historic buildings. The Harding Car was interesting. The SS Nenana is now closed to visitors for safety reasons according to the sign when we were there. There are great food options and live music. It is free so you should definitely stop in to check it out.

We had a good time walking around the SS Nenana and the Harding Car. Very cool originals! We also enjoyed walking around and visiting the shops that were open - got a neat moose w/babies print at a shop (her original photography). Looks like they’re upgrading playground equipment for the kids. There’s also a very neat, older carousel. Got to also ride the little train twice around for a few bucks.
Shauna B — Google review
Original buildings rescued from around town were placed in this park along with a railcar and a steamboat. Local vendors sell local crafts, souvenirs and food. There is a museum that accepts donations. The other side of the park has rides suitable for young children. We enjoyed our visit.
April B — Google review
Cute little park to take your family in Fairbanks. They have an amazing playground with a splash pad and swings. They have a old paddle boat you can take tours of, an art museum, lots of shopping and some wonderful food vendors. Would definitely go again.
Jessica X — Google review
Nice place to spend some time, venture through the past and learn a thing or to about the history. Old buildings are used as shops, which makes the place more lively. The entree is free, however some activities/places have a fee to partake/enter. Makes for a nice family fun day/afternoon.
Bastiaan F — Google review
Its a cute park that my friend and I visited. It has kind of old town architecture that makes it feel like old country times. The reason I gave 4 stars is because we rode the train but it broke down halfway into the ride so everyone that was on had to get off from a kinda steep hill. I didn't try to get a refund since it was only $3
Chris B — Google review
It’s amazing! I’ll hand it to whoever must of thought to move all those houses years ago to save them. It great to see how each one is still being used in its own way. Loved it.
Deborah M — Google review
We were there at the end of the season so many of the attractions and shops were already closed. We did enjoy the shops that were open and walking around the grounds. We will visit again during the open season.

Museums
The University of Alaska Museum of the North is a modern museum in Fairbanks, Alaska, known for its diverse exhibits on the state's art, science, and history. The museum's contemporary building is designed to reflect the Alaskan landscape with elements resembling mountains, glaciers, and rivers. Its main attraction is the Rose Berry Alaska Art Gallery featuring a wide range of artworks by Alaskan artists throughout history.
This is a fascinating natural history museum. There is so much to see. There is a schedule of when videos are playing. They have an art museum as well. The gift shop is small but has unique items. They also have a little cafe that you can stop at. There is an elevator for those who cannot climb stairs. We spent a lot of time walking through the museum. They offer a veteran/military discount as well as a senior discount.
Donna S — Google review
Informative and worth the cost of admission. So much to look at, learn, and so many interesting experiences to have. I highly recommend experiencing “The Place Where You Go To Listen”, if only for a couple of minutes. Additionally, if you catch it on the right day, you might also get a glimpse of Denali like we did. We didn’t know how lucky we were as we had just arrived in Alaska for the first time but there’s a fantastic vista very close to the parking lot. In addition to the natural history exhibits, there is a lot of art to see by Alaskan artists along with native exhibits and exploration artifacts and equipment. So much cool stuff to experience that really set the tone for our great Alaska adventure. Don’t miss it!
Chad T — Google review
Museum itself is great, definitely worth the price of admission. I love the way the main exhibits are set out and how many topics are covered. If you're freaked out by taxidermy, be aware that there is a lot, but it's mostly well done and always tasteful. One star taken away because I had hoped to get lunch and had half a sandwich that was mid and overpriced even for your average museum cafe. But cafe aside, I had a great time here and especially loved all the pinniped carvings and masks 💖

An Absolute Must-See in Fairbanks! This museum is a true gem and an essential stop for anyone visiting or living in Fairbanks. The stunning architecture is the first thing you'll notice, and what's inside is just as impressive. It provides a fantastic look into the rich natural, cultural, and artistic history of Alaska.
Lucio Q — Google review
We really enjoyed our visit to the Museum of the North. Great place to learn about Alaskan history!! We spent about 2-2.5 hours here but could have spent way longer if we wanted to look at the exhibits even more in depth! One thing to note is that parking is not free, we didn’t know that before visiting but it was only $4.50 or so for 3 hours so it’s not expensive at all.
Jolene B — Google review
It's a beautifully and tastefully made Museum amidst scenic area. They also play few short movies on Dinosaur Research and Aurora Borealis of Alaska. Ticket charges are 22 USD for foreigners. Houses massive whale and other Animal fossils. A small ruck store is there though expensive. May other unique preserves and history on the walls. Theres a very interestingly constructed Quite Room where some earthy sounds are played. A must visit while in Fairbanks.
Arjun J — Google review
A must see! Now I know where James Mitchner got a lot of material for his book, Alaska. Beautiful campus, even had a view of Denali, and mountain ranges. Check out the gardens too.

Exhibit
The Morris Thompson Cultural & Visitors Center in Fairbanks is a must-visit destination offering free admission. It provides valuable travel advice, information, and exhibits on Native Alaskan culture. The center features captivating artwork, extensive Native artifacts, and immersive dioramas showcasing Alaskan life. Visitors can explore a re-creation of a remote cabin, observe taxidermied wildlife, and learn about the traditional methods of salmon meat preservation.
The Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center is an incredible place to explore the history, culture, and seasonal life of Interior and Arctic Alaska. The exhibits are impeccably done, the cultural programs are thoughtful and engaging, and there’s so much to learn about the land and people. It’s a true hub for discovery + the welcoming, knowledgeable staff make the experience even better! Was invited to check out the The Army vs. Air Force Commander's Cup hockey game from one of the staff which was also a major highlight of the trip!

Our driver Joe was fantastic. Very informative on the history of Fairbanks as we drove around. Going through the museum Joe explained how the history of Alaska was formed. When his next tour was cancelled he gave us extra time to go shopping at the North Pole. I recommend this tour to anyone and please ask for Joe to be your guide.
Lynn G — Google review
Great in information center right on the river and near the antler Arch! Also a great Visitor Center if you need to pick up Flyers to learn about attractions in the area. Very well curated museum /cultural center.
Tiffany S — Google review
This is a nice facility and it’s free to enter and watch some educational videos and walk the self guided tour of Alaska history and facts. Not very exciting but it’s worth an hour visit before you walk the downtown area. The staff is nice and informative. It’s right by “antler arch”, so you can see that as well. VictorB

Exhibits telling the story of Fairbanks, it's community past and present, and showcasing beautiful, meaningful art through the decades. A great little gift shop with true Alaskan souvenirs, too! Highly recommend for visitors!
Becca H — Google review
Very nice welcome center. It's big. Walking trails around it. Lots of information pamphlets. Good place to find things to do around Fairbanks
Jonna A — Google review
Beautiful grounds outside, love all the mosiacs and flowers! Inside, a feeling of communion. Learned so much about the area: animals, history- both past and present, indigenous peoples' contributions and beliefs. Great video of Coal Creek mining. Looking forward to Fridays talk by the elders. Thank you! Rangers give helpful advice and the Alaskan Geographic gift shop is awesome! Cultural center is free!

The Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum in Fairbanks is a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts. The museum offers guided tours and showcases an impressive collection of 70 historic automobiles, along with exhibits that delve into the post-Gold Rush heritage. Located in Fairbanks, known for its museums and vibrant summer festivals like the Midnight Sun Festival, the museum provides a fascinating glimpse into Alaska's rich cultural and automotive history.
My husband and I visited the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum and had such a wonderful time! This museum is not just for men or car enthusiasts, it’s also perfect for women who enjoy fashion and history. We were amazed by how beautifully the cars were displayed, each telling a story of innovation and style from the early 1900s to the 1930s. To me, what made the experience even more special was the vintage fashion collection. Each era of cars was matched with elegant dresses, including some stunning evening gowns from the early 1900s. I especially loved seeing the trends in nightgowns and formal wear—so classy and detailed! It felt like stepping into a glamorous movie from the past. The fabrics, embroidery, and silhouettes showed how fashion evolved alongside the cars. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. They were happy to answer questions and explain more about the history behind both the vehicles and the clothing. The museum was clean, well-lit, and thoughtfully organized, making it easy to enjoy each display. Whether you love classic cars, beautiful dresses, or simply enjoy learning about history in a creative way, this museum is a must-visit in Fairbanks. It’s truly a place where both men and women can find something to appreciate and remember.
Nim G — Google review
Pleasantly surprised. This was so much more than we planned for. First person we met had authentic clothing she wore every day donated to her from a much older women (90’s)who was also a vintage cloths collector so they looked almost new. This is so much more than a car museum. Outfits to match period cars, pictures of the Alaskan experience with cars over the years.
Kamy C — Google review
An absolute gem of museum!! The layout, details about the vehicles, all the time period clothing, and pictures from the Alaskan history is incredible. If you are in Fairbanks this is A MUST SEE! Amazing that most of these vehicles are in full operation. Can’t wait till they are in the new location which should allow for more vehicles and some planes. Oh, and if you can’t tell, most of these vehicles are in perfect mint condition.
Eric B — Google review
Phenomenal place! The volunteers were super knowledgeable (thanks Steven!) and both the cars and the antique attire were immaculately taken care of. Hope you get to see one or more of their cars in action (only 3 don’t get out and about). Recommend during your trip to Fairbanks!
Lena M — Google review
The breadth and depth of this car and dress collection is amazing. Truly the best car collection I have ever seen. And it’s a living museum with all in working condition except three. You can spend your day seeing it all while in awe.
Holli R — Google review
Really interesting restored and original cars, motorcycles and women's fashions to match. Informative signs. The only challenge is you want to read it all, it is so well done. A few videos spread around and old Alaska photos in the walls
Andrew E — Google review
My husband and I visited the Fountainhead Antique Automobile Museum while visiting Fairbanks. The Museum was so interesting because each of the amazing cars (late 1800s to Pre-World War II) was paired with beautiful vintage dresses along with their accessories. There was a story for each car and each dress. There are some archival videos to watch as well. We spoke with Docent Steven who gave us so many back stories about some of the cars. He is very knowledgeable and it was great chatting with him. We learned quite a lot. We highly recommend visiting the museum while in Fairbanks. There is something of interest for everyone!
Cheryl A — Google review
Best auto museum ever!!! Just get tickets and enjoy!! It is well kept, the workers are very knowledgeable! They added dresses and accessories to match cars, with interesting facts about each and every car. We truly enjoyed this place!!! Don’t miss it, 1-2 hours easily spent

HooDoo Brewing Company is a neighborhood microbrewery and taproom in Fairbanks, Alaska. It offers European-style craft beers and tours for visitors. The brewery's beer garden is a popular spot for locals and tourists to enjoy a drink, even during the coldest days of the year when outdoor fire pits keep everyone warm.
Good beer, good vibes, limited indoor seating. We visited on a Wednesday at 3pm and it was (relatively) packed! Every seat inside was taken. But the beer was great and the fires were going outside so we alternated between standing inside and outside! Highly recommend for anyone visiting the Fairbanks area! The staff were all super friendly and welcoming! They even recommended another brewery to visit after!
Matthew D — Google review
Beer here is rich in flavor. The establishment offers both indoor seating and an open-air area. The burgers are exceptional.
Lutthanee S — Google review
I loved the vibe at this place, super happening and the beer is great. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn’t for the no-dog policy plus not really kids friendly (see picture, kids ok as long as they don’t act like kids). Such a beautiful, big patio and it’s a brewery with food trucks, come on!!!
Monkey B — Google review
Out of all the breweries in downtown Fairbanks… this was by far #1. The beers and environment were above the others. Their communal outdoor area with fire pits is a nice touch. The food truck was good too!
Steve C — Google review
Great beer, great company. Wonderful patio to spend the evening out on while enjoying a few brews and food from the featured food truck.
Bailey J — Google review
THE local hangout in Fairbanks; the cool place local Alaskans want to be for after work beer or to show off to visiting friends and family; the kind of “chill” place that is cool with the younger crowd but comfortable for the older crowd. Variety of food trucks visit to get your grub on and the beer is first rate. I don’t know if it would add or detract from HooDoos to have a full pub/tavern kitchen and paved parking lot, so I also don’t know if that’s what is missing…or perhaps it’s just right!
Jason C — Google review
Loved the beer and food truck, but was disappointed at family friendliness. Was there with my grandkids and server made it a point to let us know "Kids need to be seated, no running around", even while outside. We had the only kids. Now I know why (visiting from SC). Would not recommend if family outing with kids.
Dean S — Google review
I come to Fairbanks often for work and HooDoo is my favorite spot to drink. My favorite beer is their Octoberfest (seasonal) followed by Kolsch. They have a small indoor seating space and a large outdoor space to include several benches and a few fire pits. Their employees are friendly and the ambience is great! They have food trucks that rotate out on a daily basis. The one downfall is that they are brewery which, in Alaska, means that you can only order 36 oz. Per day. One great surprise is that their bathrooms are very clean and they have super soft toilet paper! The brewery is great during both summer and winter months.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks, the flagship campus of the University of Alaska System, is a public research university set on a 2,250-acre campus. The campus offers various activities and facilities such as lakes, walking and biking trails, sports facilities including basketball, volleyball, tennis, and swimming. Additionally, there's a fitness center, ice arena, climbing wall and dance classes available.
Great campus. Has a lot of cool trails behind the dorms. The woods center has some pretty good food to.

I had straight A's in my upper division courses last semester over 99%. And I'm not allowed to take summer courses which I enrolled in and were supposed to start today because of some harassment by the Staff at Kodiak College. I reached out to ORCA through UAF and still have a hold on my account. Looks like I'm going to a different College. I'm going to have to take legal action. Don't trust UAF or Kodiak College, they don't care about their students not even the successful ones.
Timothy — Google review
I really like this school! Alaska is a unique place and have always wanted to visit, but as Alaska's flagship school, UAF has many graduate-level programs I'm interested in! Fun fact, it's where students stand in front of the sign in summer clothes when it's minus 40 outside!
Hunter M — Google review
It's a good university with a great faculty and facilities 😊👍
Patrick P — Google review
They have a great Emergency Management Program and I love how involved the professors are with their students. They really want you to do well. The cost is reasonable. I have to take extra classes to graduate (as a transfer student) but no regrets here. Also, there is great scholarship opportunities here.
Kawaii — Google review
Good for the right programs, I guess. If engineering or the natural sciences are your jam, you might try this university, because that's where the money and attention are going. Excellent French program and some good art courses, but some of the programs feel weak or neglected, and overall the classes are extremely hit or miss. I've taken some truly underwhelming courses here and am looking forward to finishing my degree (not in engineering or natural sciences) someplace else. All that said, it's generally a friendly campus that attracts an interesting mix of people. While many of the older buildings are ugly, the campus itself can be really pretty, and the shuttle between the parking lots, upper campus, and lower campus is a welcome support in the cold dark of winter.
Kat T — Google review
Not very amazing. The campus is built on a hill, so getting around is pretty grating, and everything is spaced out so dully. It's a bit of a pain to get everything set up, seeing as how you have to use not one--not two--not even three--but essentially four websites to get up and moving at this university. Fees are handled as a joke, too. For example: You didn't fill out some seminar that you might have, just possibly could have gotten a spam email about? Gotta pay $100 or you'll be dropped from all your classes with nothing but a day's notice. Tough luck, right? Don't even get me started on the controversies surrounding this place recently. Title IX is NOT held up here, and serious sexual assault issues never get properly resolved. Being completely honest, it's not very safe here. Despite the shortcomings, the overall atmosphere of UAF can be soothe at times, whenever you decide to sit down somewhere between classes, but as far as universities go, you're better off elsewhere. I'd suggest you absolutely use the Study Abroad support this place has if you get roped into being a student here.
Daz P — Google review
UAF is my hometown university. I went to West Valley high school just down the road, and I never once thought that my time at UAF would be how it is.I absolutely love it! It's college, so you are in charge of yourself. If funding, advising, etc isn't simple, you have to work hard and continuously work to get it. I love my degree program (Wildlife Biology), and think it is very strong. I also got an amazing student job at Outdoor Adventures, leading people into Alaska's wilderness rafting, hiking, ice climbing, and more while getting paid! On top of that, I really enjoy our gym and recreation, and have played intramural hockey almost every year. I'm proud to be a Nanook. I have omitted 1 star because of small faculty issues I have faced, and the fact that I have not attended another university to compare to UAF.

The Moose Antler Arch, situated at the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center, is a striking art installation crafted by local artist Sandy Jamieson. Comprised of over 100 antlers from caribou and moose sourced across Interior Alaska, the arch symbolizes the hunting traditions of diverse cultural groups in the state.
Pretty and neat landmark where you can take pictures Ava a nice park to walk around. Next to the cultural center, so no reason not to visit. The scenery is quite beautiful.

Nice little picture opportunity. We didn’t get a chance, but the park/walkway along the river looked inviting. Certain antlers have the name of the donor etched in them.

This is such a unique arch, worth stopping by and seeing it in person when visiting Fairbanks! It is a shame to see some people signed/wrote on some antlers, but still a very awesome arch! The area itself is also very beautiful and nice to walk around and enjoy the views!

Golden Heart Plaza in Fairbanks is a large public space that pays homage to the city's history and culture. It features a striking clock tower and a statue called 'The Unknown First Family,' which honors families past, present, and future. The plaza has been recognized as one of the Great Places in America. Visitors can access it from 1st Avenue at Cushman Street, leading toward the Chena River.
Bobby and I ... Great place to walk and see the sights that Fairbanks has to offer.

The snow laced monument gives the statue some character. With the snowman pulling up the rear drawing its own appeal.

Nice little park with a fountain and a statue of an unknown first family of settlers that founded Fairbanks. Dotted with benches, a nice park to sit and contemplate the peaceful river that flows through the heart of the city. The fountain is surrounded by numerous plaques including one describing the Alaska pipeline, the route we were to start on the following day.
Graham T — Google review
There are a few places to sit around a large monument. If you go down a set of stairs you get great views of a river.
Heather S — Google review
It is the center of town but it's a little shady There are a few good restaurants and a couple of gift shops but not much else. They really need to clean it up. Unfortunately, there are many homeless and at times it can feel unsafe.
Laura S — Google review
Great set up and pretty area however there were alot of homeless people hanging out and was a bit sketchy
Autumn — Google review
Full of potential, the plaza surrounding the "Unknown First Family' statue seems to be abandoned and ignored by the city. With some updates and cleaning this could be a really impactful, educational space that honors the real founders of the area. Loved the first family statue, but it felt weird to honor the exploitation of minerals from the land in plaques beneath the statue. I'd recommend stopping if already downtown.

The Northern Alaska Tour Company offers various tours to the Arctic Circle, allowing travelers to fly, drive, or combine both options based on their preferences and time constraints. The fly-and-drive excursion is particularly popular, providing stunning aerial views and a guided tour of Coldfoot before driving back to Fairbanks. Additionally, visitors can explore the vast 13.
We did the Arctic Circle Midnight Sun Drive Adventure on June 26 and it was great. Orren was our guide and he is a wealth of information, a great driver and an all-around friendly guy. Even after 18 hours together I wish we could have had more time to chat. On this day we shared a van with one other group on the outbound leg, then two other groups on the return trip. Orren made regular stops for rest breaks and photos. In addition to stopping at the Yukon River camp for both lunch and dinner (great), we stopped at the Trading Post, "finger mountain", and the pipeline. And of course the Arctic Circle sign. Orren also made a stop to dig in the tundra to let us touch the permafrost. The mosquitoes were quite bad in spots, Orren and some others had head netting - fortunately, they were not bad at the Arctic Circle sign that day. It's a long day of riding so be prepared for that but with such beautiful and interesting scenery to look at and Interesting discussion the trip surpassed our expectations.

Absolutely amazing tour company. I did the Arctic circle southbound tour. Our guide Dan was the most knowledgeable and caring person ever. He is a real expert on everything arctic and shares his knowledge. From beginning to end this tour company set up expectations clearly. Absolutely recommended.

My friend and I took a tour with the Northern Alaska Tour Company a week prior to our trip, and they were able to accommodate it. We stopped at the Dalton Highway, Yukon River camp for lunch and dinner, the Arctic Circle tourist stop, Alaska Pipeline photo ops, and the cabin they own to see the Aurora Borealis. We were very lucky to be able to see the Borealis clear and bright that evening, and both drivers, Sabrena and Orin, were professional, courteous, informative, and more importantly, very safe drivers. We went in mid-March, where snow and black ice were still on the road, and they were very careful and communicative to everyone. This Arctic Circle and Aurora 18 hour long trip is highly recommended to everyone who wants to see the best of Fairbanks, Alaska!

We did the 3 day Arctic Ocean Adventure Southbound and this was a well planned tour. The pace was appropriate. The tour guide (Tim) was AMAZING 🤩. The accommodations were primitive but clean and all part of the experience. I thought the food was good and reasonably priced for where we were. I would 💯 recommend booking this tour!

I was really looking forward to the Arctic Circle Aurora Fly Drive Adventure tour, especially after seeing what others experienced on previous tours. The flight to Coldfoot was awesome! The pilot was friendly and professional. The van tour around Coldfoot and down to the Arctic circle sign was fun and informative, our guide, Layton, friendly and engaging. That's where the fun ended. Unceremoniously, we were transferred to the motor coach to continue our trip back to Fairbanks. The ride was rough. The coach was cramped. The coach sounded like it was going to fall apart as we made the journey down the road. We made no stops to see the pipeline up close or learn of its history or operation. We made no stops to explore and learn about the tundra and permafrost. We did stop to pick blueberries. Blueberries I can get at the grocery store. I didn't need to go blueberry picking. Our stop at the Yukon felt like an afterthought after the Yukon River Camp called the driver and told him to delay dinner arrival by 30 minutes. When we stopped to look for the Northern lights, our driver pointed up at a slightly luminous cloud and said "There They Are!" Uh, no, they aren't (picture included). He later admitted it was just a cloud and said he would stop in another location to look for the lights (none there either). We finally rolled into Fairbanks around 2:30am, and by the time we dropped everyone off at their hotels, it was 3:00 am by the time we got back to the office. TLDR version: 1st half of tour is great, second half is miserable. I wish I would have done the Air Adventure instead to avoid the drive down the Dalton Highway.

Summer flight to the arctic circle, was a very interesting and educational experience, we we landed in Coldfoot camp and a guide picked us up, drove us to Wiseman, AK Jack, a local gave a really interesting and educational talk and small tour, he is an encyclopedia of knowledge and very entertaining as well. Cool experience

Took two tours, recommend both highly. Homestead tour with Sarah was very organized, from all of the lights to help find our way safely in the dark, to the hot coco and apple cider. The tripods were especially helpful. Sarah worked very hard to make the experience meaningful even if the weather didn’t cooperate. The Denali tour with Don was fantastic. He is a wealth of information and his passion for the area is clear. On both tours we felt safe, the vans were well maintained and comfortable.

We did the Arctic ocean shuttle tour. The guide was entertaining and knowledgeable. Make sure that you’re on time so that you do not miss the shuttle. There was complementary coffee. The Arctic Ocean was great to finally get to. The only thing keeping this from being five stars is there’s nowhere to change clothes or get cleaned up after leaving the Arctic ocean unless you are booked with the hotel or at least a hotel in town. They do give a complementary towel but a little bit more is needed from swimming in the brackish water. Also, the tour company has access to get to the Arctic Ocean, where otherwise you might not be able to. We saw bear, Caribou, and lots of birds.

The World Ice Art Championships, held in Fairbanks, Alaska every February and March, is a renowned event that showcases over 80 stunning sculptures created by artists from around the world. This month-long competition brings together participants from nine countries and various U.S. states to compete in creating intricate ice sculptures. Visitors can explore the finished masterpieces illuminated by colorful lights and even enjoy the ice-filled Kids Park.
Really fortunate to have had a chance to briefly visit the World Ice Art Championships this month. After years of enjoying the ice artists at Fur Rondy, I was excited to see how it compared. It was amazing! The detail, scale and presentation were pretty incredible. Families seemed to love the venue as there is entire playground area with ice slides, jungle gyms and even corn hole games. Ask about discounts, the day I was there the entrance fee was discounted through an Alaska Airlines promotion.
Robin D — Google review
Can't miss this if you're in the area, absolutely a once in a lifetime experience. The sculptures are so creative and incredibly intricate, and the scale of them in person is breathtaking. Lots of fun mini games and sledding areas for kids too. Sled rentals are free!
Ben S — Google review
The talent of these artists is unbelievable. I have never in my life seen such remarkable ice sculptures and so many in one place. It is well worth the cost of admission and enduring the freezing temperatures to marvel at this inspiring ice art. I recommend seeing them during the day and then coming back at night. Just make sure to get your hand stamped if you leave to come back. They also have a warm up area where you can purchase snacks and hot beverages at very reasonable prices. Highly recommend and must visit if you're in Fairbanks in the winter!
Arnav A — Google review
This is a fun family event. The multiple games and slide/sledding options are fantastic. I even saw adults on the slides. They provide sleds with no rental fee....just leave your driver's license. There is an area to warm up your body and get refreshments. My honest opinion is this established event is low key, friendly, and a great time. We went on a weekend day and week day evening with no crowds to speak of. I'm so happy to have experienced this World Ice Art Championship 2025.
Andrea O — Google review
I love it. We have visited it for the last 5 years. Every year, the sculptors do an even better job. There is always a most beautiful and more detailed sculpture than the previous year. It is a great place to visit with family. The slides are great for adults and kiddos. I had always visited during the first week of March when the temperatures started to raise, which helped the experience to be even more enjoyable.
Lily T — Google review
This was our first visit in person we’ve hear about it from friends and seen pictures online but nothing beats seeing the craftsmanship first hand. The small attention to detail was incredible. When walking through the sculptures some pieces were completed while the artists worked on second pieces. Sometimes I had to remind myself they’re starting with large solid blocks and cutting away sections and then reusing those sections back into the sculptures. The event wasn’t just a walkthrough of sculptures being created but also an entire section where you can walk up to carvings and touches them, feeling the curves and edges. But not only that you some were interactive in ways of slides or common yards games like corn hole and put golf. We went during the daylight and returned for festivities lighted up at night. Just stunning and we’re planning on making a return before the competition is over. Just amazing work and well crafted designs.
Matthew T — Google review
The sculptures were amazing and there were way more of them than I expected. So much talent and detail went into each design. Definitely try to go during the day and at night to get the full experience. Your ticket is good all day, just get a hand stamp. Definitely worth a visit.
Chelsey H — Google review
This place is absolutely unreal! This is hours and hours of entertainment, and 100% worth the money. When you first enter, there is a large open play area with a dozen or so large ice carved games to play like checkers, mini golf, ping-pong, ect. Everything except the golf balls is made of ice, and at night all of the ice in the entire park is illuminated in a rainbow of colored lights. They have an entire Alaska Airlines ice stage carved out - we weren’t there when it was being used, so not sure what they had going on with that. Beyond the games are the slides. Massive slides made entirely of ice, including the stairs. They offer free sleds to borrow if you leave your driver’s license with them and they have PLENTY. There were tons of people there and it never felt really crowded and we didn’t wait in any lines, really. There are several different slides set up in varying heights, and they can get FAST. You can also just slide on your bum, but the sleds are way better. These slides are not just for children - I think every single adult I saw going down had just as much fun as the kids, and some of them are really high! There are also ice carved creatures and chairs/structures that kiss and adults can sit on/in and take pictures. The outhouses have heaters in them, and they have an entire warming building with lots of seating and tables and basic snacks for purchase. The ice sculptures are behind all the “fun” stuff in the campground portion of the park. Highly recommend you go at night. It’s like walking through an enchanted forest! It’s hard to believe all of them are made of ice - they are so incredible they look fake! We also were able to watch and speak with one of the artists in action as they carved out some ducks on a log sculpture. I was really impressed with the youth competition section too! It felt like every time we turned around there was another sculpture we hadn’t seen! These truly are world class ice sculptures - the artists are from all over the world. There were so many! Plenty of free parking right in front of the park.

The Tanana Valley State Fair Association hosts the oldest continuous fair in Alaska, taking place every August in Fairbanks. Visitors can enjoy a variety of attractions such as amusement park rides, horse shows, giant cabbage competitions, live music performances, and quilt shows. Additionally, the fair is located near the Ice Sculpting World Championship venue and offers a unique outdoor experience with ice sculptures and a warm-up room. While food options are available on-site, visitors may also bring their own snacks.
Amazing place to visit right after the Ice Sculpting World Championship and spend the day, long walk in the wood where all the sculptures are, the warm up room is very authentic, don't expect modern facilities here, you may want to pack your own food, snacks, Hot Dog and Chili are available, but the sleigh for free is great for adults and kids! the out door Game Room is a blast! Going at night is cool too with the light through the ice...

Lots of vendors (food and non-food), rides, political booths, product sales booths, etc. There are several areas with items people have brought for judging. Live acts and music at a couple of pavilions. Food is pretty pricey. It's really packed with people today since the sun is out and people are enjoying themselves. If handicapped, there is motorized cart rental, by the hour. It's a great place to see people you haven't seen in a while. Contests, music, booths, exhibits and more--if you can go, go. BEWARE : Unfair and arrogant treatment from an employee. (It gets BAD) A ride operator who I will describe as a relatively chubby man who is a ginger was operating the ride, “the Kraken” on Sunday august 3rd 2025. The line was long and it was around closing time so the man said he was going to do three more rides. Me, my friends and some other people behind us calculated that there was enough room all of us to get on the third ride. Here comes the bad part.(it gets worst by the way) There were numerous people cutting the line and we (as in everyone mentioned in the calculating part) noticed and called them out but the ride operator tells us that he can’t do anything about it (mind you this was during the loading where he could easily kick these cutters off.) and he was letting people skip from the back to the front of this line (most notably a man in a white shirt, sunglasses and grey pants just hops VERY obviously in the front and GETS ON.) but me and my friends counted and realized we had enough to get on this ride (first in line too) we were so happy and the people were too but after the operator has the ride going he has the audacity to tell us all NO MORE RIDES even though we only counted 2 rides. And he said “come back tomorrow” and we were all mad cause it was the last day, while his response is “your tickets are valid next year!” What about us with wrist bands? And then we all call out the cutters and he goes about the “I can’t do anything” and then we all leave because the ride was going to be shut down THE WORST PART IS HERE Around maybe 10-20 minutes later, me and my friends are sitting near the entrance of the fair and one of my friends are watching the kraken, then they start going crazy and tell us that the guy let the ride go on again after closing time too(this breaks rules of no more rides. He cut us off too? Just to let on people later?) I really hope something will be done about this employee, I do not look forward to coming back and seeing his face.

They had lots of food and drinks kiosks. A nice "marketplace". Well organized, entrance people were very nice and welcoming. All the activities are at extra fee. The mini zoo was a nice experience, the people working there were very nice and informative. I think some of the machines should be upgraded or given better maintenance. For example, we ride an "apple machine" (I can't remember the name), and it looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. The inside walls, the entire thing. The caterpillar ride was too noisy, plus it felt like it was about to be broken. I didn't feel safe in it.

Ice carving festival 2019. Thank you Niki for taking mom around in the snow cat so she could see the sculptures. We got the Ice Princess Ttreatment. So nice. The warming tent was fun, warm, good gifts, nice food. I came back at night for a quick peek with the lights. I LOVED the slides, maze, and spinning cups for kids. More!

The Cookie Jar Restaurant in Fairbanks is a popular spot offering a relaxed atmosphere and delicious American cuisine. Whether you're craving an all-day breakfast, hearty sandwiches, or steak and seafood dishes, this place has got you covered. The menu features grilled sandwiches made with fresh bread, corned beef hash, cinnamon rolls, and more. Additionally, they cater to vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free diets.
There were a lot of fruit flies in the restaurant, but there was plenty of seating and room between the tables so it felt like a semi-private meal. Huge menu with lots of appetizing choices. Next time I would try the bagel breakfast sandwich and definitely get a cinnamon roll.

We had a recommendation to check out The Cookie Jar from family who lives nearby and are very glad we did and will definitely come back if we visit Fairbanks again. Pricing was fair, the coffee was hot, and our server was attentive but not overbearing. I had a "stuffed Nolan's" which was one of their giant cinnamon rolls cut in half, stuffed with cream cheese, grilled, then topped with berry compote. I was a little worried it'd be too sweet but it was perfect. The sausage links were also really good. Thanks for a great breakfast!

5 star alert!!! Awesome Breakfast Spot! Visiting Fairbanks to hopefully see the Northern Lights and found the Gem of a restaurant. Our server L. Rainey was a delight and so nice they could get 5 stars from her alone. She was busy but ensured you felt that you were the only person in the restaurant. Ask for her if you go and feel at home. The food was amazing and the portions are hugh. The restaurant is small but full of life. The picture shows what all we had which you would consider a basic Breakfast but.... it is delicious. Give this place a try!! I wish I had enough time in to try the lunch and dinner..... maybe it's time to rearrange the schedule.

Everything you’ve read about Rainey the waitress is correct! We were fortunate enough to have her wait on us this morning and she is awesome! The breakfast was phenomenal as well. I had an omelette and I was definitely not shorted on sausage and bacon. The wheat bread is made in house and thick - like thicker than Texas toast. We also got two gigantic cinnamon rolls to go. We went on a Sunday morning around 8:00, no wait. When we left, the place was full.

My husband and I met up with family to have dinner. There was a group of 10 of us including 3 children. They were able to quickly get a table set up for us outside. They provided crayons and coloring pages for the kids. We ordered the pepper jack cheese sticks and onion rings for appetizers. Both were very good. I ordered the meat loaf and my husband ordered the chicken fried prime rib. My meat loaf was good, but my husband's food was ah-mazing! I wish we lived closer! The rolls were also very delicious! Our server was great! She was very attentive and super nice and accommodating!

In addition to its extensive wine collection, Lavelle's Bistro also serves late-night fare including pizzas and appetizers after 10 p.m.
We recently had the pleasure of dining here for Valentine's Day, and it was an absolutely delightful experience! The entire evening was well-organized, fun, and incredibly memorable. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff, who were clearly passionate about providing top-notch service. Our server was attentive and made sure everything was perfect throughout the evening. For dinner, I had the honey apple halibut, which was cooked to perfection with a delightful balance of sweetness and savory flavors. My husband ordered the risotto, and he couldn't stop raving about how creamy and flavorful it was. Both dishes were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The ambiance was romantic and cozy, with soft lighting and tasteful Valentine's Day decorations that added a special touch to the evening. It was the perfect setting for a romantic dinner. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. It's a fantastic way to celebrate special occasions, enjoy delicious food, and create lasting memories. We left with full hearts and satisfied appetites. Five stars all the way!

The service and staff were excellent but we didn't enjoy the food unfortunately. I ordered the specialty ribeye steak, but it was served without any Maillard reaction, meaning the Steak didn't taste like a steak and it didn't have a crust at all. It was similar to a Souse Vide steak that wasn't properly seared or an Oven prepared steak without searing, similar to reverse searing gone bad. The fish was cooked good and tasted good, but the apple sauce didn't feel as it belonged, it didn't connect with the fish. The calamrie just didn't taste good and we couldn't complete it at all

This is not an establishment we frequent, however we thought we would go on Friday night. In the past (a few years ago when we last went) we needed a reservation, we made a reservation for 4 people at 6:15 pm. To our surprise there were not very many people dining. We knew this was going to be an expensive dining experience. I wouldn't mind paying those high costs if the meal was outstanding, the service over the top and the atmosphere top notch. Which was not the case. The atmosphere- we were sat under a speaker playing obnoxious loud music. 4 of us larger people put at a small round table, (which had seen better days). We were behind the host stand (near the window) where all the young servers/hostess were "hanging out" munching on goldfish and having a good time. Way too many people on staff for the amount of customers in the restaurant. Our server was fine, older man who was working hard. I personally found the menu to be confusing. The portions to be small and completely over priced for what you get. I will enclose photos of our meals. The steaks were fillets, due to them running out of the one we ordered. We asked for medium... They were cooked medium well, but they ate them just fine. The beef tips were delicious, I would prefer my bread not be in the juice, on the side would be less soggy. The risotto was not as good as my previous experience, especially for the cost. The risotto cake under the steak was not a hit either. The side salad was a nice portion & quality. We did order cheesecake to go, because we heard it was amazing. Honestly Costco's taste better. It will be a long time before we try Lavelles again.

Specialty Museums
The Fairbanks Ice Museum, located at 500 2nd Ave., offers a unique experience for visitors interested in ice carving and art. The museum features locally made ice sculptures displayed in large freezers with artists often at work. Hourly slide presentations provide insight into the annual World Ice Art Championships. Additionally, the museum hosts a nightly aurora show in a vintage theater setting.
What a cool place! You pay when you first walk into the museum (it was $15 each adult), and you then walk into the back of an old movie theater. They give you free coats to borrow, and then you can look at all the sculptures. I loved them all, but especially the sledding ramp.

Wasn't too sure about this but my wife wanted to see it. So of course, we went. I had a really good time. There was a live demonstration of a man carving a picture into ice. After that, we went into a super cold room where there were ice sculptures. We got to pose with them and some we even sat on or in and took pics. There was even a ice slide that we got to go down. Super fast and fun. I would recommend this as something you don't usually get to experience. The people there were super polite and we had a great time.

very simple & basic, felt was overpriced. Don't know if there is specific times there is a demonstration but nothing going on & walked around the small area by myself. Not told there were coats to use to go into ice museum, would have been nice to let people know. Some sculptures looked old. Ice slide was only good thing. Not much in gift shop, person at desk did not have much to say

Look, you don’t need to go to the Louvre to have a good time. Does it rival Gaylord Palms Ice? Not really! But if you embrace the scrappiness of this place, it can be great fun for you and your friends. The museum used to be a theater, so you can see some of its history intact. There’s a few silly figurines for taking photos with, quite a lot of actually beautiful ice sculptures, and an absolutely bonkers sled ride. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t feeling great the day I came. But this museum if you go into it with the right attitude is absolutely worth it. The lights changing color on a timer, it’s almost more beautiful than the northern lights. Plus, you can’t beat the location. Steps from the river, Golden Heart Plaza, and the Crepery which serves an amazing selection. Definitely don’t skip this Fairbanks staple.

Such a fun experience! They did an ice sculpture presentation where the guy cut the sculpture in front of us which was the 3rd photo. They also have a really cool 50ft slide you can go down that’s all ice and man it was such an enjoyable experience! We also went to the little movie they put on and the Aurora Borealis slideshow was super fascinating to watch and see the history of Alaska.

Can’t believe we didn’t go sooner. It was actually great show. Plenty of comedy and history about Fairbanks. The adult humor that was also thrown in was great, lots of laughs. Thoroughly enjoyed!

I absolutely adore the show, the set, and everything presented. It brought you back to the history in early 1900 with tears and laughters. What a brilliant performance! I definitely recommend.

Started off great with the piano player's childhood piano teacher being in the crowd. I highly recommend this show for anyone who doesn't take themselves too seriously. I laughed harder than I have in several years (probably didn't hurt that the woman in front of me was laughing so hard that she snorted). So funny!

Latitude 65 Brewing Company, located at Borealis Basecamp just outside Fairbanks, offers a unique dining experience in a community yurt with stunning views of the White Mountains and Wickersham Dome. The restaurant is owned by Chef Easter and is known for its locally sourced cuisine. In addition to its fine dining, Latitude 65 also boasts a diverse selection of craft beers.
The beer selection is awesome. Had some of the best IPAs. Friendly staff. The frozen smoke food cart has its kitchen on the same building so they are open everyday when the tap house is open. Note for Out of state beer lovers, alaska has a 32oz law that a brewery can not sell more than 32oz to a customer to drink at one sitting. Its an issue with the state law, not the brewery fault. But yet hey, after the first two pints, your brain will find ways to work arounds on it. Enjoy.

Great beer selection. You can customize a flight of beer to your liking. Plenty of seating, industrial, cool vibe. Definitely worth stopping by!

Awesome people slinging up wonderful home brews as a fair price. What is not to like. They have food too - but I did not have any of the options! Love it! We walked from downtown Fairbanks! VictorB

Great selection of stuff on tap and even some great NA options as well. Really delicious nitro stout and mimosa cider. Love all of the local art on the walls. There is Frozen Smoke BBQ spot on site and food trucks on some of the days when that is closed.

Loved the beer!, Quality brewery. Excellent service at the bar. Maddie was an excellent host. Helped us with our selections and was free to talk about her experience in Alaska. I'm sorry we missed the in house frozen smoke bar b que but an excellent food truck with some over "average" sized corn dogs and excellent fried mac and cheese. Worth checking out.

Brewery
Located in Fairbanks, Alaska, Black Spruce Brewing Company is a unique addition to the local brewing scene. Established on the winter solstice in 2018, this brewery stands out with its bold and inventive tap list. It offers an array of hoppy concoctions, including the Blu-Grl Mixed Culture Sour made with locally harvested blueberries. The brewery hosts popular food trucks in its parking lot, providing visitors with delicious options to pair with their beers.
Nestled in a modest industrial building in Fairbanks, Black Spruce Brewing Co. proves that great things come in unassuming packages. Known as one of the best breweries in Alaska, this spot lived up to its reputation and then some. The parking lot beer garden adds a casual vibe that invites patrons to enjoy their brews in the fresh air, even on a chilly Fairbanks evening. The standout of the visit was the Willet Bourbon Blend Reginald Van Horn Barleywine. This meticulously crafted blend of Barleywine was aged to perfection—12 months in Willet Bourbon barrels and 7 months in Knob Creek Bourbon barrels. The result is a complex, velvety brew that balances rich malt sweetness with the warmth of bourbon. It’s not just a beer; it’s an experience. Easily the most memorable beer of the trip, it showcased the brewery's dedication to quality and creativity. Black Spruce delivers exceptional craft beer that rivals the best in the state and leaves a lasting impression. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, it’s a must-visit for beer lovers.

Awesome beers and incredible ciders. The bartenders are knowledgeable and offer great suggestions. Great vibe in general and lots of seating! They have rotating food trucks too!
Emily F — Google review
Definitely quieter than the other breweries. Wife especially loved it due to all the ciders and sours on tap. Had two of their beers, an IPA and a stout. The stout definitely was something I’d go back for. Not much out of the ordinary and some snacks sold on site. Wasn’t a problem as we had dinner before coming in. Plenty of seating and friendly bartender.

Nestled within the charming Pioneer Park in Fairbanks, Alaska, the Pioneer Air Museum is a treasure trove for aviation aficionados and curious travelers alike. This unique museum showcases an impressive collection of vintage aircraft and helicopters that span from 1913 to 1948, offering a fascinating glimpse into Alaska's rich aviation history.
Great and interesting collection, every piece tells its story. Many models and historic objects. Friendly and knowledgable staff. They normally open during Summer. If you visit during off season, call them ahead of time. They might be able to specially open for you (just like me). Even though the museum looks a bit small comparing to the number of shown objects, it is packed with aviation history. Many of them are from previous aircraft accident. I highly recommend this museum for those who love aviation and those who study aircraft accident investigation.

They had some really good exhibits- but they completely left Joe Crosson out- Joe Crosson and Gilliam found Eilsens wrecked plane in Siberia - Joe was known as the Mercy Pilot for his role in settling Alaska- leaving him out was a blatant move - and we were not happy- my husbands father, Lon Dean Crosson, was Joes first cousin- we came all the way from Atlanta to follow Joes time here- very disappointed!! Joe Crosson’s archive collection is the largest at the Rasmussen Library- you need to spend some time researching!

First, visitors to Fairbanks should note that this is a seasonal museum; closed during the winter. This is a pretty small museum, but it the space is crammed full of interesting exhibits that are a thrill to aviation fans like myself. It does a good job of telling the story of flying in Alaska.

Wedgewood Wildlife Sanctuary, located near the Wedgewood Resort, offers a picturesque natural setting with lakeside walking trails and abundant wildlife. The sanctuary features flat, accessible trails suitable for strollers and wheelchairs, making it a family-friendly destination. Visitors have the opportunity to observe various mammals such as moose, red foxes, flying squirrels, and snowshoe hares. Additionally, over 100 species of birds can be spotted in the area.
The hotel we stayed at was within walking distance of the trails and Creamer’s Dairy wildlife sanctuary. The trails were surrounded by trees and the path was easy to walk. Great signage, places to sit and the little lake provided such a serene view. The wildlife sanctuary was filled with sandhill cranes during my stay and again trails throughout were flat and allowed a pleasant stroll through primarily open fields. There were some small water areas that also attracted ducks and geese. I was too early to check out the refuge’s visitor center. I was fortunate as the mosquitoes were non-existent. These two areas were a huge bonus to an already awesome first visit to Alaska.

Great place for a stroll. I enjoyed sitting on the benches and listening to the geese in the fields and the pond. Having been living in Las Vegas for the last 11 years it was great hearing geese again.

Although it was a little difficult to find with Google directions once there it is a very nice and well kept trails. In early September we only saw a handful of wildlife to include birds and squirrels. It was a very pleasant experience and would go again for the peace and views.

It's absolutely beautiful in the fall, and the 0.7 mile Taiga trail was very nice and had a variety of trees to see as well as the lake. I didn't see any animals but it was still worth the visit. There are a couple of trail entrances, but if you use Google maps look for the Taiga conference center and there is a trail to the right of it.
Heather S — Google review
Go past the apartments and near the car museum. Nice easy trail to do a run or walk around late. Very calm and serene. There are several lookout points to stop and enjoy mostly birds, ducks, or swans. The chances of seeing a moose are very slim. There are also a lot of interesting fungi that grow here. In the middle of the hustle and bustle, it’s calm and quiet.(here and there you will hear an airplane land as you are close to the airport.)
Johnny S — Google review
Wonderful path, clearly marked, beautiful trees. Saw a trumpet swan, some ducks & squirrels.

We enjoyed the Wander Lake Trail here which is about a 1.4 mile loop. It is really easy to access from behind the auto museum. It was a really beautiful and peaceful walk. So much so that we took a second loop, and then came back again a couple of days later. There's great informational signs along the way. There is an option along the trail near the end where you can take it over to Creamer's field.

This place was really beautiful. I came here for a little afternoon hike and it's a quick and easy loop that you can do multiple times for a great workout. Midnite Mine is a dive bar located in downtown Fairbanks, Alaska. It is frequented by locals and dog owners alike for its strong drinks, cool atmosphere, and sports on TV. The bar has a unique pull tab system that makes it one of the best bonuses of the establishment.
If you're looking for the place that perfectly encapsulates the rugged charm of Fairbanks, Midnite Mine is the spot you're looking for. Located downtown, this iconic dive bar has been a local institution for over 50 years, and its brewery offshoot—founded in 2017—continues the tradition of serving up satisfying experiences. Unfortunately for us, we were only able to try the Midnite Mine Golden Ale as the brewery was in the process of migration to their new stand alone home. The beer itself was crisp and approachable, unpretentious and well crafted. It’s the kind of beer that makes you feel right at home in the mines upstairs bar, or the legendary dive bar downstairs. Seriously though, don't forget to head down into the basement bar that has this eccentric, unmatched atmosphere that is equal parts quirky and historic.
Beerventurers — Google review
Top dive bar in downtown Fairbanks. Google brought me here as i was in the mood for a night cap. The basement level bar has pool tables & darts-cash only! The upstairs bar is chill & you may pay by card. Logan is the best local bartender i've met in FBX. He is personable & engaging with patrons. He made a fantastic Blood Orange Old Fashioned, which are rare to come by at bars. Be frank with your taste profile & they can customize to make it work. Cozy & laid back atmosphere. The interiors & decor give an old timey & industrial vibe. As a visitor from out of state, i felt instantly welcomed! They play great music: mostly classic rock & some country. 💎🍸🫶
Christine D — Google review
Very cool dive bar that most of the locals go to. All of the bartenders are unique and full of great stories to listen to. Its not too loud so if you want to go catch with a friend, or play some pool, you will have the privacy you need. The two level portion is cool as well, however the upper portion closes around 10PM while the lower portion stays open until 2PM or so.

Every time I venture into the mine i leave happy. It's a great little bar that really double downs on its mine theme and makes good use of the space. Offers foosball, pool, and darts. Also has a large outdoor area and upstairs bar with plenty of beer and cocktails. The bar staff upstairs Zoe is super friendly.

Wow, what a great place to hang out and make new friends! Great service and a great facility! Pool, darts, music and a big deck out back to hang out on and have a quick smoke. Bartenders were kickass individuals that produced alcoholic concoctions quickly. If you ever go thru Fairbanks stop in and stay awhile!

Music was great but service was not good at all. Took a seat at the bar for my friend’s 21st birthday and was trying to help her decide what to drink. The bartender Jen was rude and became impatient and then decided to purposefully ignore us for the remainder of our time when trying to order. We decided to just leave and definitely won’t come back.

The Ice Art Park Winter Events Center in Fairbanks is a magical place where talented carvers bring intricate ice sculptures to life between January and March. Visitors can watch the artists at work, creating everything from houses to horses. The park offers fun for all ages, with activities like sliding down ice slides and admiring beautifully lit ice structures. It's recommended to visit after sunset when the lights are on, providing a stunning display of the sculptures both with and without illumination.
The ice slides are great for little and adult kids. We showed up in mid March with some warmer than usual temperatures. So the sculptures were starting to melt. However we still had a great time and still appreciated the artistry that it takes to sculpt the temporary works of art. Most carved from one piece locally sourced from a quarry lake.

Beautiful lights! I really liked how they had the names of different countries worldwide. I didn't give it 5 stars because the lights on many of the countries were off/dead, but definitely great to go see while listening to christmas music. We were able to go around more than once and that was nice because we took pictures and retook the ones that didn't turn out good on the first drive.

Overall it was ok. It was a long drive through the park which was nice and lots of lights most of which synced up with Christmas music. One area was so slick many people couldn't get up an incline and needed to be pushed up. Lots of lights weren't lit up, many lights covered with snow. It was strange as there were many abandoned vehicles, planes and out buildings with lights that appeared to be just thrown on. The kids enjoyed it though.
Laurie A — Google review
We enjoyed the music and Dancing Christmas Lights. Definitely made our holiday more merry and Bright. Well worth the $20 entrance fee🎄😊
Megan R — Google review
It’s a nice park for both kids and adults to do a lot of activities. We visited during the day time and it was snowing so couldn’t enjoy much as the lights were also not on. So I would suggest to plan to visit this after the lights are on around sunset so you get to see the structures with and without lights. There are big slides and lots of ice curved structures which are amazingly done.
Anwesha P — Google review
Definitely recommend this place if you're in town during the winter. Lots of interesting ice sculptures made by folks from all over the world. Worth checking out during the day and at night. Ticket is fairly inexpensive.
Remo C — Google review
Spent an hour and a half here with 3 adults and 4 children age 4 and under. We were the only ones there during the day. They weren't done yet, so we saw multiple artists working on sculptures, but they had about 15 ice slides already done that we enjoyed. The kids loved all the fun slides. Wished we had brought or bought a sled. The largest slide on the hill had snow on it, so our slides down weren't as fast as they could be. Some of the smaller slides were surprisingly decently fast for a kiddie slide. Cool ice sculptures. Staff members were very friendly and let us test out a new sled for free, but I would look for a sled that minimizes your contact with the ice. Friction from snowpants, boots and coats slows down your slide speed.
Kyle W — Google review
There are a bunch of great slides for the kids! We're having fun, for sure.

Scenic spot
Alaska Range Overlook offers stunning views of the north side of the Alaska Range, making it a popular spot for time-lapse photography. Located within the University of Alaska campus, this overlook provides a panoramic view of Fairbanks and multiple mountains. While some visitors have had difficulty spotting Denali, on clear days, it's possible to see the majestic peak and its neighboring mountains. The area is also near the Museum of the North, allowing for easy access from its parking lot.
Great place to look out over Fairbanks. Supposedly, you can see Denali from here. But I haven't been able to find it yet. A sign with what your view from that spot is would be helpful. The wooden board sign gives heights of mountains, but it doesn't seem to be what you actually see from that spot.
Brian B — Google review
This spot offers beautiful views. It's just down the street from the Museum of the North on the University of Alaska's campus. There is a pull off area, but there are no parking spots because it is a bus stop. If you are quick about it you can pull in, jump out and take a photo. Otherwise you can (pay to) park at the museum and walk down the hill.
Heather S — Google review
This overlook is inside of the University of Alaska campus. Since it was minus 25 degree so there weren't anybody crazy enough to fight us for parking or the photo spot. But I could imagine this overlook will get busy during cruiseship season. Even though it was a sunny day, we were not able to see the top of Denali but the scenery is still pretty. This is one place that's worth to drop by but no need to stay for a long time.
黃玉麟 — Google review
Best area to see Mt. Denali and its neighboring mountains for free. You might need a good set of binaculars. We saw several youths doing tiktok videos in the area due to its scenic views.
Hens — Google review
For those wondering, Denali is barely visible from this lookout due to a nearby hill blocking the view. You can only see the top of Denali on a clear day, but binoculars would help. If you go to NE Fairbanks, the sight line is unobstructed. For example, taking HWY 2 southbound into FBX will give you a perfect view of all Denali, provided it's clear enough.
Jake T — Google review
The overlook is nearby the Museum of the North, so a short walk from the museum while parking the car in the museum parking might be easiest. Visitors can see both Fairbanks city view and multiple mountains from this outlook.
Y.C. W — Google review
On a really clear day you can see Denali and the Alaska Range. Some buildings impact photo opportunities.

Jazz Bistro on 4th is a popular restaurant in Fairbanks, Alaska, offering a diverse menu of Caribbean, Spanish, Cuban, and Puerto Rican dishes. The restaurant is known for its vegetarian-friendly options and live music entertainment featuring Cuban jazz and soul music. Featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, this award-winning spot serves fresh Cuban and Latin cuisine including tapas, fish, and seafood prepared by Chef Rico.
We had the most amazing meal here! My husband got their seafood pasta, we shared their fresh Cuban bread and the owner went out of his way to make me a cubano even though it was not on the menu. We also shared the flan and everything was 10/10 phenomenal

A Fairbanks GEM! So happy we found this place. The food is unlike anything we've had in Alaska thus far and is genuinely authentic and delicious. Appreciate that it's open slightly later than other restaurants so we were able to enjoy a later dinner. Rico is an outstanding host. He made us feel welcome from the very moment we arrived. Highly recommend giving this place a try. Both the pork Lechon and the Bistec Cubano were fantastic- so juicy and full of flavor!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Jazz Bistro on 4th is an incredible place to enjoy live jazz music and delicious food in a cozy and elegant atmosphere. I recommend coming with plenty of time and a good appetite, because all the dishes are made fresh with organic ingredients, nothing is pre-made. This means the wait is absolutely worth it, as you can truly taste the quality and care in every plate. The staff is attentive and welcoming, and the live music makes the entire experience unforgettable. Perfect for a special night out, whether with friends or as a romantic evening. A must-visit for anyone who loves live music, fresh food, and memorable experiences.” The following dishes were: fresh guava juice, fresh bread, shrimp cocktail, lomo de puerco, pollo a la crema, pasta shrimp, and flan. Thank you for everything Rico and Lenora, you made us feel at home.

Absolutely incredible dining experience! Visiting from NY as I achieved landing in my 50th and final US state. I'm glad we came through this hidden gem in Fairbanks. It's no wonder it's been endorsed by Guy Fieri and the Food Network. Rico is the best! It was a pleasure to meet him and receive his fantastic service and chef excellence. As you can see, this Cuban-style salmon was absolutely delicious, probably, the best I've ever had. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful dinner at Jazz Bistro on 4th. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance—casual yet with a touch of upscale charm. We ordered the organic vegetable pasta and the halibut with rice, both of which were fresh and delicious. The owner really made the experience memorable—he was warm, personable, and shared great stories and recommendations that added to the evening. The wine selection was excellent, and ending the night with a smooth cafecito was the perfect touch. Highly recommend this spot for both food and vibe!

This place is amazing! Hubby took me here for my birthday and I can say he did good picking this place. The owner was very welcoming, friendly and makes you feel very comfortable. The food is delicious from the appetizer, the meal is mouth watering very single bite. We had Tapas, Spicy shrimp, and Salmon Cuban style the sauce was so creamy and rich. The non- alcoholic mango breeze was refreshing. The flavors like my Mom would call it oh lala which means it was very good. Big Daddy's BBQ & Banquet Hall is a downtown gem in Fairbanks, offering award-winning Southern-style BBQ food with generous portion sizes and top-notch quality. Featured on popular TV shows like Food Network's Diners, Drive Ins and Dives, this spot has gained national recognition for its delicious offerings. Visitors from all over rave about the mouthwatering brisket, sausage, pulled pork, ribs, and classic sides like beans and fried okra.
PRO TIP! The pig out platter can serve 2 people or more. We both got this platter and could not even eat half of it. Save money and split it! Our eyes were larger than our brains at the time. We even had the burnt ends as an appetizer and still overestimated our stomach sizes. However this place is GOOD. I’m from the south and this place is better than some southern BBQ restaurants. The sauces are good, the sides are good and the meats are better. My favorites were the brisket and pulled pork. We tried our best to finish it all but had to take 70% of it with us. Definitely recommend to any big meat lovers out there who want a taste of the south!

Greatest Barbecue in the world. I have never had ribs as good as these. Best barbecue in Alaska by a mile. The ribs had a crispy crust and a juicy interior with delicious sauce. Texas toast was a hit too. Brownie sundae is big enough to split and only $10. Food comes out fast. Service was great, everyone was really nice. This is the only restaurant that I go to on a regular basis because of how great it is. Tuesday is rib night, I’ll see you there.

It’s a very large space so we got a table quickly. The waitress was very nice and provided great, fast service! She was very attentive to us and the tables around us. The menu has a lot of options to choose from, and she let us know off the bat what wasn’t available. We got a pulled pork sandwich, wings, and some corn bread. It was all very tasty and hit the spot. The Mac n cheese was our least favorite, but nonetheless is was good. We definitely would have gone back if we were in town longer.

We are visiting from Tampa and have had BBQ all over America so when we saw that Guy Fieri said this place is on point we decided to check it out! He was right! Our favorite was the brisket, sausage, pulled pork and ribs! Even the baked beans were done right. The chicken was a little dry but the turkey was surprisingly good too. The service was awesome! Very attentive, sweet and quick service! Loved the bar area too. Overall it was a good place to stop by and hang out before we went back home.

Really good food. Service was a little slow but they got slammed with a few tour busses at the same time. Once she took our order, she was attentive. Brisket was good as well as the pork and sausage. Try the combo sandwich to get all three
Brian G — Google review
The brisket is some of the best I've had, but not the best. However, bbq in Alaska can't be choosey. I once heard someone say that the sides make the bbq joint and if that is the case then this one is top notch. Best baked beans I've ever had. Second best collards I've ever had. Service was great. Brisket came out cold and we casually mentioned it and she jumped into action and replaced it with some large hot pieces. So much food that I took half of it with me.

The Alaska Salmon Bake is a casual outdoor restaurant located in Fairbanks, offering a unique Alaskan dining experience. Operating seasonally for over 40 years in historic Pioneer Park, it features grilled salmon, halibut, and prime rib cooked over an open fire. Guests can also choose from Bering Sea cod and snow crab as main course options. Sides like mac and cheese and baked beans are available to complement the meal.
The salmon is grilled fresh in front of you. The halibut and cod are also fresh but not grilled. You get a nice salad bar and fresh country potatoes and green beans. There are options to add more than one fish for extra or you can have just one fish type. It's a true Alaskan experience outdoors or you can sit inside. We enjoyed it so much we ate there twice last week.

The place opens at 5pm. We spent some time exploring Pioneer Park before heading here to eat. Great selection of food and beverages. Both outdoor and indoor seating areas are available. I ordered fire grilled salmon with cauliflower rice. Lots of rice but the size of the salmon was a bit small given the price, in my opinion. It was flavorful, though. We went on a 80F day. Indoor seating had no AC. It was very hot but cold drinks helped!

When you go to a seafood restaurant, you expect the fish to be the star of the show. Sadly, ours didn’t even make it past the audition. The salmon was so overcooked it could’ve been repurposed as a hockey puck, and the halibut? Let’s just say it was dry enough to qualify as a desert exhibit. The sides were so unseasoned, I started wondering if the chef had taken a vow against spices. Honestly, the only thing saving this meal from complete disaster was the prime rib egg rolls—those were the Beyoncé of the night while the seafood played backup vocals from a mile away. If you’re going for seafood, you might want to bring your own seasoning and a gallon of sauce. But hey, if you like prime rib egg rolls, you’re in luck—they’re the real catch here.

We were not expecting this to be on the park but it turned out to be great. The line moved quickly. There was seating in the dining room. The music level was fine for eating, it is only loud at the doorway. Surprisingly the salmon was very good

2025 This place is a lot more than the Pit-baked, fresh, delicious salmon. This place is a museum, it is a small park with lots of walking space to hang out, antique machines, and indoor and ourdoor eatry. Back to salmon: I have seen Salmon in lower 48 States, this salmon is the real deal. Simply fresh, pit-baked with love and care, juicy, flaky, and yummy. I thought I couldnt finish one steak, I ended up going for another one. You have to try it for yourself. For dessert, I tried the blueberry short cake. I thought I will try a spoon or two, I finished the whole thing. Delicious. Enjoy few pictures and a video with smiling staff and pit expert. Highly Highly Highly Recomended !!! 2023 Awesome experience. The best Salmon i had. Fresh no doubt, you dont find this kind of Salmon in Indiana. Sorry my plate do not much because i eat it all. I had grilled Salmon. Must try is fried potatoes.

This was an excellent experience, set in a super interesting setting with all the mining exhibits. You are treated to the smoky aroma of the wood fire cooking the food. Food was delicious. Prime rib and nice selection of fish. Of course the wife had to try the crab legs. Yum. Beer and wine drinks, the ladies had a wonderful pitcher of sangria. I drank both of the IPAs. Highly recommended

We are from Edmonton, Alberta Canada and our Alaskan friends took us to The Alaska Salmon Bake. What a great spot !! We found a shaded table and spent almost 2 hours dining. We started with appetizers, prime rib egg rolls, which were almost a meal by themselves. The deep fried mozzarella was also delicious. I had salmon, cooked to perfection and my husband enjoyed the prime rib. Desserts are available, we had chocolate mousse and of course some wine. We would highly recommend for a family/friend get together.

Thai House Restaurant is a cozy spot in Fairbanks, Alaska, known for serving traditional Thai dishes like green curry and chicken satay. Established in 1989 by a former gold mine worker from Thailand, it has become a local favorite with its complex and fresh flavors. The interior is adorned with Buddhist-themed murals and statues, adding to the authentic atmosphere. Visitors can expect warm hospitality from traditionally dressed servers while enjoying dishes like the aromatic Ginger Lover.
I had my food delivered through Uber Eats and the food was amazing! I got the pineapple shrimp fried rice, which was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever eaten. It was so much food, and I got an egg roll, which was also incredible. The Thai tea I got with it was also soooo good. I will definitely eat here again. 😊❤️

Traditional & cozy Thai eatery. Stopped by on a Friday night & was met with an energetic & lively crowd. Place was packed. Small team but all were so friendly, welcoming, & efficient. Ordered the Pad See Ew & Crispy Tofu appetizer. I liked the appetizer but it seems a bit overpriced. The Pad See Ew was good, but the dish was too sweet & the noodles were cut in smaller pieces. It'd be better if the noodles were kept in it's original longer shape. Overall, decent place for Thai cuisine.

Lovely service, I didn't have to wait for a table for much longer than a minute or two. Packed house, plenty of happy guests! The Thai tea here is fantastic. I've had experiences at other places where the tea is watered down, but this was not the case here! The chicken satay was a little pricey at 15 dollars for the 4 pieces, but the quality made up for it! Would definitely take someone for a date night here or for a family outing.

The atmosphere and workers were great. Got a tuna salad sandwich for $16 and I couldn't taste the tuna because there was hardly any on it. I understand things are more expensive here, but it just seemed like a lot for bread, a slice of tomato, leaf of lettuce and smear of tuna salad.

The Fudge Pot might have changed hands, but they haven't missed a beet. 🤣 The pasta salad had so many wonderfully delicious surprises. The BLT was loaded with crispy bacon. Sandwiches were ok, smoothie was good, but I was not warned that the Mexican Fudge included Cayenne pepper. I cant have cayenne pepper, so after 1 bite and realizing this, I walked back to the 5 20-somethings standing around, and asked if I could return it, knowing they would have to throw it away. They threw it away, but offered no refund or other piece of fudge, even after I asked. They did not warn me about the cayenne, so I did expect something. Most businesses would cut an old lady some slack, since every other Mexican chocolate I’ve eaten has only had cinnamon. So, I don’t recommend the service here.

Hot Licks is a cute ice cream stand with a strong variety of homemade flavors. My wife and I tried 4 different flavors that were all enjoyable. The price was reasonable and service was lackluster in the excitement department but otherwise fine. It did strangely seem to take a little while for my wife's 2 scoop order but who knows. The setting is nice with lots of outside seating which is greatly appreciated. I think it's ice cream and if you enjoy ice cream you'll be pleased. Enjoy!

Go expecting a wait and sticker shock! Overall I would not return. I ordered 4 shakes and 1 small cone. They had two shakes fairly fast then proceeded to give others that ordered after me their ice cream and drinks. I finally had to ask were the rest of my order was and was told its on the way. The two shakes where about gone by the time my others came out. Also as you can see in the picture i ordered two drinks of the same kind, size and price yet the are actually different size cups. $61 without tip for four shakes and 1 small cone. I only gave 2 stars as the shakes were actually good.

We were in the area and looking for some unique good ice cream. Saw this place and decided to give it a try. I ordered the Aurora sundae, my husband ordered the gingersnap ice cream and then we tried a small blueberry. The aurora sundae was good, just vanilla ice cream though. The gingersnap ice cream was okay it did not have much ginger flavor and would be better if it had pieces of candied ginger. The blueberry was good. It had a weird texture like it may have a different base than the other flavors we tried.
Tammy W — Google review
While the ice cream was delicious, I would beware of the drinks. One member from our group purchased a Shirley Temple, which tasted like pure syrup. When we asked to remake it, they refused. She simply asked to dump some of it out and refill with sprite or what not, but was declined. 5 scoops of cherry syrup is simply too much, and the service was a disappointment.
Tabitha — Google review
Sadly the quality fell way off in 2025, in every way. The ice cream is mediocre at best, extraordinarily expensive, the selection is a third what it used to be, and the customer service is dull. I will have a hard time supporting this once-beloved local shop unless some drastic changes are made.
Adrienne P — Google review
First ice cream shop I've ever been to where you order and then wait for 35 minutes for a scoop of ice cream ! We wait in line to order and when we get to the window we find out that they only offer 5 or 6 very generic flavors so I ask for chocolate, which they proceed to tell me they ran out of. We wait off to the side and wait for them to call our number. We would only hear a number called every 5 minutes or so. Close to 40 minutes after ordering, my daughter checked on the ice cream and was handed melted ice cream and was told it was our fault because we didn't come to the window when our number was called. I stepped in and asked how they could possibly hand out melted ice cream and be rude about it. One of the girls admitted that she never told us where to stand while we waited for the order. Plus the ice cream was NOT good and it was very overpriced !! Worst experience ever !! Don't go there !!! Learn to hand out a scoop right when the customer orders like every other ice cream shop in the world !!!

The Hoarfrost Distilling began production in 2013 and is family-owned and operated. The distillery produces vodka, gin, whiskey, rum, tequila, and mezcal using fresh and organic local ingredients. They offer tours of their facilities as well as tastings of their products. This was a wonderful experience where I learned about the production process and enjoyed sampling their unique drinks.
June 2024 - We this distillery recommendation from our local friend Spencer The vodka cocktails were brilliant and the spirit was smooth Safe to say we enjoyed our drinks in high spirits :)

Went to Hoarfrost with our awesome guide, Lindsay, and had a blast! My husband and I tried a flight of their vodka and so glad we did. I fell in love with their Spruce Tip vodka and purchased 3 bottles & Tonic to bring back home with us. It was absolutely one of the best vodkas I’ve ever tried. The tasting room is so pretty, clean, with lovely local art work on the walls. Lois was wonderful in explaining all the different types of vodka and the ingredients. It was a great time and we hope to visit again! Thank you!

Very nice little place. Their selection is unique and enticing, and I like their aesthetic. Our group got a Spruce Tip Tonic Rhubarb Pie And a Hot Toddy. The Spruce had an impressive Spruce flavor which didn't overpower. They were all tasty.

The drinks were delicious and we had a lovely time until we had to interact with the woman who seemed to be running the place. She could definitely find a nicer way to interact with customers, which unfortunately changed the tune to our entire experience here. Her terseness was enough to not go back.

We had such a wonderful time at this family owned distillery and tasting room. The owners and staff were so welcoming and attentive to make our experience the best that it could be. They went out of their way to offer multiple tasters of their product and infusions. The description of their unique specialty drinks will make your mouth water they sounds so good. Everything was delicious and unique! And of course it would be - fresh and organic local ingredients are used like the black or red currants in season right now. It was such a neat experience to take the tour of the facilities as well to get a further in depth understanding and a visual of the vodka making process. I personally learned a lot and had a fantastic time socializing!

Natlya was amazing! We have never been to a vodka tasting and she helped us every step of the way. Didn’t know we were vodka fans, and we are now! So good. She even gave us some yummy snacks to break up the favors between. Highly recommend!

Awesome distiller! Great host! The flight is a must! When you buy bottles you are given cocktail recipes! Will be back!

My girlfriend and I had a great experience! I ordered a Hot Toddy, she ordered a Raspberry Martini, and we shared a flight to taste. The presentation of drinks were high-caliber. The atmosphere is cozy, the brand aesthetic is elegant, and the customer service was superb. Natalya walked us through the best choices for what we were looking to taste. From our conversation, we learned her husband is a chemist. It's good to see competent and passionate people working on their craft to bring the world excellent products. I wish them the best of luck and hope to see their establishment grow.

Great place to know the history of the Railroads of the area. Gary was very informative about the museum and explained me so much. it was an interesting story to hear how the train head in the museum was shipped from Petersburg, Pennsylvania to St Michael, Alaska all around North and South America back in 1899 because there was no Panama canal and then on a Paddlewheel boat to Chena. Gary you are the best Thank you

This place is amazing! The work they do for the engine they have restored is exceptional! Birch Hill Recreation Area, located near downtown, offers a leisurely stroll through the boreal forest and is perfect for various outdoor activities throughout the year. In winter, visitors can enjoy over 200 miles of trails shared by dog mushers, skiers, and snow machiners. The area also features cabins along the trails for safety and comfort. During summer and fall, the area provides stunning views of nature with opportunities for walking, biking, and enjoying the sunshine.
Birch Hill Recreation Area brought back amazing memories of my childhood cross-country skiing days in Siberia. The ski track here is absolutely fantastic - perfect for both regular people like me who simply want to enjoy the experience and for serious athletes. My kids and I had a beautiful time exploring the trails, and it turned out to be one of the best highlights of our New Year vacation in Alaska. A truly unforgettable experience!

Visited for the hiking trails in June, wish I could see this place in the winter with skis under my feet though! Pro tips: bring a can of bug spray for the skeeters and prepare yourself for wet feet (bring extra socks and shoes for the ride home) as some of the trail is very soft and saturated. Most of all though, enjoy!

Located in Fairbanks, Alaska, the Big Dipper Ice Arena was originally an airplane hangar and has now been transformed into a spacious venue for hockey practice and home games of the Ice Dogs of the North American Hockey League. Visitors can easily find the arena using Google Maps and enjoy ice skating without large crowds during weekdays. The facility also offers Pickleball courts set up by the Borough, welcoming players with no membership or fees required at the time of writing.
We were in Fairbanks for just a few days and got lucky that the Fairbanks Ice Dogs had a home game. Even better they won and we saw some fights in a fun, family-friendly arena. It’s smaller than what we’re used to in Charlotte, NC but that made it more fun because everyone was so close to the ice. Friendly staff; decent bathrooms and beer selection.

Went to my first ICEDOGS game, and it was so much fun. I had only been to hockey games in large venues, and this is a small place. I LOVE the environment and the vibe this place gives off. I will definitely be going to more games.

Visited Big Dipper Ice Arena for honeymoon/vacation. I fell in love. We visited Fairbanks, AK for extended vacation/honeymoon and while in Fairbanks we found Big Dipper Ice Arena. We decided to visit there because I had never been ice skating ever. Found the Big Dipper easily with google maps. Called for available hours and went right when they opened. It was during the weekday so there was not a crowd when I visited but I did get to meet the owner/manager and husband. We got to talking like if we were old friends. Both of them were very helpful. They were aware that this was my first time ice skating and gave me the preparations and equipment I needed to have a safe and fun time. I was on my own as soon as I found my ice legs and fell in love. I would recommend this to be one of the stops on your visit to Fairbanks, AK. The staff was friendly and personable. They were extremely knowledgeable and will make sure that you have a fun safe time. The vibe there is very chill, no pun intended, safe and family friendly. In my opinion this is a 10/10 great, great fun. I hope you visit Big Dipper Ice Arena if you do visit Fairbanks, AK and I hope you do the same as I did and fall in love with it, even if you fall for real.

This is a great place for anyone who wants to ice skate to go. The rates and rental fees for open skating are very reasonable. Parking is free. I had never been on ice skates before and it wasn't hard to tell but I used one of the learning aids (looks like a walker without wheels) and I was skating in no time, not great mind you but I stayed upright. I had such a great time with my kids that I can't wait to go back.

We had a lot of fun watching hockey games here. There are a few options for places on the upper floor to buy snacks and drinks, some places offer alcoholic beverages, and others everything from hot dogs to popcorn. The place itself isn’t the cleanest, but it is a hockey stadium so that’s to be expected. A lot of people go there for the games. I suggest getting to the games early so you have an awesome spot to watch from and you can get parking close by.

I am from Michigan and visited Fairbanks by myself. On my first day I was expecting to sleep in but woke up early and didn't know what to do for the day (I had plans for all the other days).  Unfortunately for me, most tours require at least two people.  I called Bill's Shuttle and Charter Services on the spur of the moment, and Bill arranged a day trip (for as many hours as I wanted) with Ryland Canyon.  Ryland asked what I wanted to do, what I wanted to see, and we were off!  The price was very reasonable, even for an entire day! I don't care much for shopping, or touring cities or even small towns, so Ryland suggested we go to Denali National Park.  While most of it was closed (this was late October), the ride there was beautiful.  We stopped at several scenic overlooks, and I got to take a ton of pictures. Ryland knows this area very very well.  He was extremely helpful in deciding where to go and what to see.  He is knowledgeable about the area (the history, culture, nature, etc.) and on many, many other subjects.  A very delightful conversationalist.  We spent five or six hours driving around Alaska, seeing so many new sights, and Ryland was wonderfully informative and pleasant. I highly recommend this company and also recommend Ryland as a tour guide. Thank you, Ryland, for a wonderful, beautiful day!!! Sincerely, Annette

We had our wedding reception at Wedgewood Resort, and it was truly amazing from beginning to end! Zoe, the manager, deserves endless praise, she was the heart of our experience. I really like staying at Wedgewood. I have stayed there many times for work. The only thing I don't appreciate is their lack of technology. Tv says its smart but isn't. Have basically been watching movies on my phone when i have "two TVs" in my apartment. Terrible phone service, cant text or receive calls or text when home, i asked about it and was immediately told its my phone company which isnt true i was in other buildings for my year long stay didnt have that problem. Then its the cleaning, they just spray chemicals, no use of water for cleaning. So basically for 6 months i cant watch TV, requested to move however the lady at the front desk either has a personal problem with me or hates people of color. The way she talked to me, i was told i could move to another unit/building, in fact they checked and said there was availability. Then i stopped by Christina says no, wont even listen to me speak. She was nicer the first couple of times i stayed here last year for work. Upon coming back, she isnt friendly or nice .This will be the 3rd time i have attempted to move, its not like they dont have the availability, they do she just wont let me move. Its too expensive not to have working TVs. Then the gym has little to nothing in there, not up to standard appartment gyms, has no mirrors, tv is muted permanently. no outlet near the bed other than one behind the mattress. You have to move the mattress, unplug the clock, and move the mattress back to charge phone etc. Its too expensive for what you are provided.

The staff were really wonderful, and the conference space was great. The rooms were really affordable especially considering they are essentially apartments. The rooms are dated which is fine but they stank of old smoke which was really gross. I really would have expected the rooms to have been freshened up to remove the scent (flooring, repaint, etc). TV reception was terrible.

We had an issue with one of our activities that was planed on our trip to Alaska. The company made us a one night reservation at Wedgewood Resort. The staff at the front desk was amazing! We initially had a room that required us to climb 4 flights of steps. We have had back and knee surgeries so this was not ideal. The service at this place is excellent. The shuttle was at the train station when we arrived and was available when we needed it for the riverboat and airport. They held our luggage for us as we had an evening flight. Accommodations were modest but comfortable. We were walking distance to a grocery store and coffee/bagel shop. It was a unique cottage experience if you are looking for something different instead of a hotel. They also had a nice RV park next door. We did not est on the property but they have a breakfast buffet and a restaurant open for dinner.

Unaccommodating, extremely rude staff. I typically don’t write reviews, but had to share my experience at Rivers Edge. We are here because of an excursion with the Norwegian cruise line. After a day of touring the area, I asked to fill my water bottle with the filtered water from the dining area at Rivers Edge where we are staying. I was informed by a lady at the front desk that I could not get water from there and my alternative was the sink water in my room or the sink water in the kitchen, leaving no option for filtered water. The machine sounded like it was actively running. Apparently this lady is a rotating “fixer” of issues at any of this company’s 25 locations. I feel that she is encouraging horrible customer service. Also, this “resort” is dirty, musty, and outdated. I wish that Norwegian would choose another hotel in the area to partner with. I will not be recommending this excursion to others. The tour guides and tour itself were fantastic. I loved seeing Fairbanks.

Wow! Super fantastic experience. The added amount for first class was worth it. The announcer, Tonya was over the top great! She really added that extra touch to the trip that made it extra special. She was so personable and was so knowledgeable about but just the railroad but other facts about the sights along the way. Be sure to buy the guide book that goes over the trip by mile post. It's a worthwhile investment and very reasonably priced. The food was very good. Don't expect crazy large portions. Normal portions and great service by the wait staff. Can't wait to go on this ride again! If I had one gripe, it'd have to be the luggage retrieval. It was a little haphazard and free-for-all-ish. Not a deal- breaker though.

The Aurora Ice Museum is a year-round attraction that features ice sculptures, an ice bar, and parka rentals. It has a whimsical ambiance with its freezing temperature of 25 degrees. The museum showcases old yet impressive sculptures, some of which are decorated with flowers. The facility also offers accommodation and event space for weddings. Reservations are recommended as entry may be limited due to high demand.
Such a fun and unique experience! The Chena Ice Bar and Museum is entirely sculpted from ice, including the walls, furniture, and even the cocktail glasses. We were prepared in our winter clothes. The ice sculptures are stunning and incredibly detailed. The best part? Enjoying cocktails served in hand-carved ice glasses—definitely a cool highlight. It’s a quick visit, but totally worth it for the photos and the vibe.

My husband and I booked a tour of the ice museum and ordered a martini. You do need to make a reservation. We met at the Chena Hot Springs Activity Center to start the tour and walked to the museum as a group. They do provide parkas if you need them. There is a process for entry and exiting. You all enter the entryway where the parkas are stored at one time. The exterior door is closed. Then, once everyone is ready, the interior door is opened, and the entire group enters. You exit the same way in reverse, but they did allow us to stay and explore as long as we wanted, we just had to let the staff know when we were ready to leave for him to open and close the doors. The experience was cool, although the drink itself was only like 3 oz total. It's not really worth the money. We were there a total of maybe 20 minutes. The drink itself was good. I'm glad our group was small, less than 10 people. If the group were larger I can see it being a pain trying to get photos. It is definitely a nice way to cool off when it's hot outside or warm up a little during winter. It's definitely a unique experience.
Tammy W — Google review
The tour itself is short but they you give you ample time to explore on your own. It is a museum with many beautifully crafted pieces. The guide was enthusiastic and helpful. However, the narrative could be much better and informative. They should consider putting writeups next to the statues, at least the massive ones. The two coolest things were the ice bar which is definitely a novelty and fun and the work in progress by an award winning sculptor who was working with ice and an electric saw.
Rashmi B — Google review
Amazing, unique Ice bar. Nothing I've ever seen before being from the lower 48, more specifically Florida. It's beautiful and the appletini was good. Dress warm, but I think they gave us coats to wear while inside. You also need to make a tour reservation.

This was a very cool experience. It’s a short walk through tour through some amazing ice sculptures and you can even stay overnight in one of the 2 “ice bedrooms”! We stayed for the $20 apple-tini in a glass made out of ice, but that was a bit of a waste - unless you want the full experience and like apple-tini! The tour guide, Carlos, was very pleasant. Well worth the drive. I didn't read anywhere that there were time slots ,I don't exactly remember but I know the last 2 are at 5pm and 7 pm ,we killed some time at the restaurant. Good was ok,nothing special. But ,the Ice Bar experience was awesome!

They will lend you a parka if you aren't dressed warmly enough for 24°F. inside temperature. Craftsman is carving ice as you are entering. We didn't have an apple martini, as is a tradition here. We should have.

Appletini was fantastic, bring $10 cash to get refill. If you go to Chena, you must go to the museum. ps. I did not drink 2 tinis while writing this.

Nestled within a sprawling 2,200-acre expanse, Friends of Creamers Field at Creamer's Field Migratory Waterfowl Refuge is a remarkable sanctuary that beautifully marries nature and history. Once the site of a thriving dairy farm until 1966, this refuge now serves as a haven for endangered waterfowl and numerous migratory bird species. Visitors can explore miles of scenic trails that wind through diverse habitats including wetlands, fields, and forests.
Lots of wildlife viewing opportunities. Visited early May and most of the trails are walkable, just a few that are muddy or under water due to the snow melting. Most trails are flat with a mix between open fields or wooded paths. Good place to bike or bring your dog.

Best hiking and awesome birds of all sizes. Very close to town. Easy parking. Good clean trails. Had a cute band playing music on the weekends and tours of the old farmhouse.
Jessica X — Google review
Pleasant location for a walk-hike. We enjoyed seeing some migratory waterfowl. No entrance fee. Cute visitor center/gift shop with very friendly host (I’m assuming a volunteer).
Jenny — Google review
A lovely open space preserve, with several easy trails with different environments. Great place for birding watching.
Harvey T — Google review
Nice place to walk, meet puppies, and for birdwatching. And the fireweed is in boom right now and AMAZING! Definitely need your bug spray though.

Unfortunately we didn't see many bards in Sep, but we enjoyed walking with beautiful view. It was enough for us!
Qhn38 — Google review
In the fall this is a rea8nice spot to park and have lunch. Lots of birds land here during their migration. They also have some nice trails to hike if you're up to it 👍🏻

What a great place to look for the northern lights. The university has a livecam watching for the auroras that you could track for activity. Went 3 nights, saw lights all 3 nights and 2 of the nights we saw the lights dance a bunch 🌌✨️

Such a cool tour, learned so much about the reindeer and muskoxen and got a glimpse of the bison. Highly recommend!
Sharlotte O — Google review
We had a great time on the $20 tour. Got to see male musk ox, reindeer w/ babies, and 2 mama musk ox w/their babies. There were also male reindeer and wood bison on the research farm. Nice little gift shop - when you buy something at least the profits go toward the program

We loved our tour of LARS! Emma was a fantastic guide and we learned a lot about the reindeer, musk ox, and wood bison. All the animals seemed happy and well taken care of! Would 100% recommend visiting if you are in Fairbanks!
Jolene B — Google review
We went on this guided tour on August. It was very informative. Our guide had very good knowledge of these animals. She explained very well about their differences and their relationships and also their food habits. The guide also explained how these animals cope up with the weather. They also have the animal's skull, skin etc to touch and feel. The skulls are very heavy to lift. I highly recommend this tour which helps kids and adults to gain knowledge on these animals.

Informative, enthusiastic tour guide and opportunity for up-close views of musk ox, reindeer and bison! My kids especially enjoyed the show-and-tell room with its horns & antlers... would definitely recommend to visitors in the Fairbanks area!!
Liene K — Google review
Went on a tour with my 1 year old son! It was very reasonably priced as well as super fun and the guys was very knowledgeable. It was 11$ for me and my little guy was free and lasted about an hour and a half. We got to see Musk Ox Males and Female and also their babies. We also got to see reindeer and their babies. It was a great experience that I really am glad we did. The trail was easy and we were able to take our stroller on it.
Jaydyn F — Google review
Fantastic stop. There is a nice short self guided tour that you can take for free to see the wood bison and fire history. You can also walk in the yard and see the musk ox for free, despite what any Great American Busybodies might tell you. There is also a paid guided tour you can take.

You can see the northern lights very good!! Only problem is very crowded!! A lots of people and cars lights is a big issue!!!

This location is superior to Cleary Summit and is a hidden gem. Those who rated it poorly may have encountered the parking area not plowed. If the DOT or nearby landowner doesn't plow it, then it may be difficult. In this location there are fewer or no other cars, no streetlights, no tourists, and fewer to no bushes and trees in the way. I always go here when I say I am headed to Cleary. Cleary Summit is an unfortunate zoo with too many tall trees, obnoxious people, and lights.
AJ — Google review
Definitely a better spot to see than the dome because there's no trees in the way, but there's nowhere to park so it's not exactly safe to stop here, unfortunately.
Misty L — Google review
Awesome spot to see aurora. The key thing to get a higher success rate is to make sure the night is not cloudy and a high kp index.

Dangerous with accumulated snow. Drive safely. View is nice.

Georgeson Botanical Garden is a peaceful and beautiful spot that features both native and introduced plants. There are picnic areas available for visitors to enjoy, as well as a kids' garden with a maze. Visitors can also see active research plots used by plant scientists from the University of Alaska. The garden is known for its variety of Alaska's native plants, fruits, vegetables, including giant cabbages.
Great place to spend a couple of minutes or the whole day. Loved all the variety of flowers and berries. The experimental farming for the cold climate was very informative on how the university is working with the high latitudes and long sunlight. Good place for kids!

On my visit September 4, 2025 it was late in the year and not very much in bloom. There were some flowers but not many. It is a very nice property and well laid out. Not too large but a nice simple walk. I’m sure it is stunning in season and full bloom. Also Google maps got me close but I missed the sign as the garden is smaller print under the “Fairbanks Experiment Farm” that’s the spot. I would suggest a visit but during a better time of year.
Phillip M — Google review
Amazing garden to lose yourself in. Oh and they even have a Hedge Maze which was an Eagle Scout project for Boy Scouts. Beautiful paths, wheelchair accessible, lots of shade. Bring a picnic and really enjoy this beautiful setting
Jessica X — Google review
Very nice walk. Well maintained. We were there in mid Sept 25, weather was warm. Some comments were that it was too late to see the flowers/blooms but we found it a nice walk and interesting layout.
Kamy C — Google review
This was a very nice surprise. Went to see what the gardens looked like and there was multiple parts to walk through and enjoy. They have areas to sit so you can relax and enjoy the gardens. They have a qr code you can scan to make a suggested donation easier for everyone. I would encourage people to go and enjoy a casual walk.
Terrance A — Google review
This is a small but very interesting. Botanical garden in Fairbanks, Alaska. Although I was there after the garden had started to close for the season, there were still a number of flowers blooming and it was nice to be able to see the research projects that they have ongoing. There were lots of informative signs around the gardens and based on the vegetation that I saw, I'm sure it is beautiful in the summertime
Sherry M — Google review
It's a pretty botanical garden with a good variety of plants. There is a $8 suggested donation and it can be paid by cash or card via a QR code. This is a great spot for a nice stroll when the weather is nice.
