The Kauaʻi Coffee Company, located on the sunny South Shore of Kauai, is a must-visit for coffee enthusiasts. As the largest coffee plantation in the United States, it offers self-guided outdoor tours with informative kiosks detailing the coffee growing and roasting process. Visitors can also enjoy free samples of their various beans. The estate features a charming coffee shop overlooking picturesque fields where guests can savor freshly brewed Kauai coffee and delectable pastries.
A bit pricey for the tour ($50 adult) but coffee was outstanding. Many different samples to taste from before buying. Beautiful bougainvillea plants abound. A nice tour between excursions when you want to relax, as it is by the water, and scenery is amazing

Their coffee is to die for. The aroma abounds around you at the Plantation. They also features some great pastries and yummy ice cream! Don't miss tasting all the flavors they have to offer and take home some beans to grind, like we did. Thank you, John & Karen D. (San Marcos, Ca USA)

The best coffee ever!!! We stopped by for vanilla iced coffee every single day that we could. It's that good. We also bought some to take home. The gift shop is very cute as well. The views from the back deck are breathtaking. Can't wait to go back.

Kauai coffee is hands down my favorite coffee in the world! I love visiting their farm and watch how big it has grown over the years! The farm has a cool pathway you can walk through some of the coffee trees and see some of their farm equipment! Very cool! They have a wonderful gift shop, and little museum, coffee tasting, and a place to get food, coffee, and other snacks! It is always a wonderful place to visit! 🤙🤙🤙🤙

Such a quick and fun stop for coffee lovers. I can confidently say our kids would have been bored to tears but my husband and I loved walking the grounds, tasting all of the coffee varieties and of course, spending too much money in the shop. Totally worth it though and they shipped our goodies home for free!

Kauai Coffee is a delicious, scenic, ethical place in the middle of paradise. We loved it so much that we visited twice (and we didn’t even stay on the South side of the island!). The self-guided tour and one-room museum are both worth it, and I highly suggest sampling the various coffee flavors offered at the patio. This is a must-visit for coffee lovers and non-coffee people alike.
Emory M — Google review
This was an amazing visit... because I love coffee (self proclaimed coffee snob). The establishment was very clean, staff was attentive and friendly, the prices were average (but you get it cheaper if you're kama Aina me me me), the coffee samples were FRIKIN awesome. Drink as much as you want. I purchased a $60 bag of bourbon barrel Aged whole bean micro batch coffee ) they don't sell it anywhere but here on kauai). This coffee slaps you in the face with the sweet, smooth, caramel, vanilla, oaky char smell before you even take a sip. The taste is SURREAL. I highly recommend a trip to the Kauai Coffee company on Kauai if you enjoy coffee.
Jason M — Google review
We took the tour and so glad we did! Genny was our guide and Edgar was our driver, and they were awesome! I learned so much about coffee (and I thought I knew a lot before but I had no idea)! One hour tour in an open air vehicle, no walking but you do have to walk up about 4-5 steps to get in (they have have accommodations but I'm not sure), but once you're in sit back and relax (a few bumps but not strenuous). Even my kids (12 and 15) thought it was cool. Beautiful views and loved seeing how my favorite beverage is made! Try the coffee ice cream after (there are other flavors too if you don't like coffee or for kids), and the blended iced coffee was delicious! Get your kids a iced mocha and they'll run back to your hotel all on their own lol!

Beach
Wahi-awa Beach, located just a short drive from the southern part of Eleele, is a dog-friendly beach where you can relax on the sand and soak up the sun. It's a peaceful bay that offers a great spot to lay out your beach blanket or set up your beach chair. If you're bringing your furry friend along, be sure to check the temperature to ensure their comfort.
Access through the Quarry Road. Beach was amazing. Highly recommend the Quarry Road versus glass Beach because glass Beach is full of questionable individuals
Jad K — Google review
Not accessible unless you have a permit to drive on the road going down. There are signs warning you of this fact. The beach area is over grown and not the prettiest. Stick to the beaches that have facilities and life guards.
Darla D — Google review
There are no trespassing signs and we were escorted out by security, no fines luckily. We were told there is access via Glass Beach on the rocks, just don't go up to the treeline.

Outdoor Activities
Glass Beach is a unique shoreline haven for beachcombers, featuring colorful and clear pieces of sea glass. Located in an industrial area, the beach offers an intriguing man-made landscape created by ocean-worn sea glass. While some visitors find it interesting, others mention a weird vibe and difficulty in finding intact glass due to collectors. Kauai's Glass Beach is particularly popular among families with children fascinated by the abundance of glass pebbles and remnants washed up on the shore.
Glass Beach in Hawaii is such a unique and fascinating spot. The shoreline is covered in smooth, colorful pieces of sea glass, worn down by the ocean over time. It’s not your typical white sand beach, but it’s beautiful in its own way and full of character. Great for a short visit, photos, and just appreciating how nature transforms discarded glass into something stunning. It’s a reminder of both the resilience of nature and the importance of caring for it. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area!
Ahmed K — Google review
Not what I expected but a fun little area to explore. We parked on the street before the entrance road as it is a rugged 4x4 road. Short walk to the "beach" area. Looks like a family has taken residence in the area and set out sea glass on a log near by if you don't want to hunt on the beach. Quick stop but neat to see.
Shannon S — Google review
So beautiful! I can’t believe places like this exist! So magical that all the glass would appear on 1 little beach. Be careful when coming as you should always travel here with a companion.
Shayla R — Google review
It doesn't look anything like the pictures anymore so don't go out of your way to come here. There are a few bits of glass but it's pretty much been picked over. The lava formations are mildly interesting but definitely nothing to go out of your way for.
Michelle — Google review
Okay dont let our pictures trick you the glass part of the beach is about 15 feet across and everyone angles their camera just how I did. Plus very sketch behind an old boat duck and homeless people love it here they gather the glass and sale it so that might be why theirs not much left. However the chickens are cool cause there's a junk pile of old surf boards and they roost on it like they are from surfs up so makes for fun pictures only reason im giving 2 stars haha
Chloe S — Google review
Some sketchy behavior here, a permanent settlement is set up and blocks the road to what looked like a cool peak. While we weren’t bothered, we got the “we shouldn’t be here” feeling very quickly. The beach itself- beautiful. Not for swimming, but glass collecting.
Becky W — Google review
Very cool glass beach! Tons and tons of sea glass, porcelain, and other treasures. Locals hanging out and wild cats lounging on the beach. Easy parking. Try to pick up some actual trash as you leave. Leave a spot better than you found it.
James T — Google review
It does have black sands but the dump smell and drive to it are a turnoff. If you are into seaglass defintely go

Went on a sunset cruise w/Blue Dolphin. Our capt was Kai, first mate was Maddie, and there was also Chasen. Super friendly, very customer service oriented. They made it feel like we were just a bunch of friends going out on a boat. They genuinely seemed to like their jobs, which showed through 100% in their attitudes and actions. They gave us dinner, which was really yummy, and mixed some good Mai Tai's. They also had an assortment of bottled water, juice, and soda. Our group was mainly adults, but there was one small child, and they were really good about keeping an extra eye on the little guy, which I'm sure the parents really appreciated. I'd definitely pick this group again for another cruise. They're top notch. I spoke w/Chasen about the differences between ocean boating and great lakes boating, as I'm from Michigan. He's very knowledgeable, I really enjoyed chatting w/him. Give this crew a shot, you'll be happy you did.

My primary care physician's clinic is located on the parking lot side of this complex along with a couple of bar & grill restaurants in this complex & across the street, as well as a couple more just up the road, & a fast food place (McDonald's) too. I come here often for my ongoing healthcare needs. When I first started coming here I thought it a bit strange that a doctor clinic was located in a complex that has a lot of activity during early morning, mid-day (at lunchtime) & also around evening time or at sunset due to the boat tour companies at least 3 or 4 of the main ones having their tours group checking in at this location & then walking over to where they load onto the different boats & depart... Besides the tour companies, there are just a few more little shops that make up this quaint little center. I actually really like coming here, I have had my nails done in the nail shop 2 doors down from my clinic, & I often go around the corner to look & see what the "Chocolate Factory" has out to sample that day... Well I can honestly say if u end up this side, on the west side, I highly recommend you at least check this little busy complex out...

Original Red Dirt Shirts offers a unique take on Hawaiian shirts by embracing the red dirt that covers the island. The company's origin story stems from a small screen print shop owner's decision to sell reddish-brown t-shirts created by hurricane flooding, leading to the creation of authentic Hawaiian shirts. While replicas can be found in local stores on Kauai, the original company is based in Port Allen. These shirts make for great souvenirs and gifts, especially for Aloha or AZ enthusiasts.
So awesome. But so sad they don’t do tours anymore! You have to come to the factory in person to see the huge selection the touristy places don’t carry.
Trevor M — Google review
The Dirt shirt that I bought in this store stained my clothes really bad. Was not warned to wash this garment before wearing it. But even after washing it as per their instructions it still bled brown water. When I called them back, the manager was very rude to me and was not listening to my comments and concerns and responded in a disrespectful manner. I would not recommend anyone to shop in this store unless you want your regular clothes totally ruined.
Anastasia M — Google review
A unique homegrown product that makes not only a great souvenir, but especially a fantastic "anytime" gift for an Aloha, or AZ lover. Remember to check during Fall/Winter for seasonal-only Sweatshirts!

I bought a total of ten t-shirts here, several of them the 'red dirt shirts'. I liked the regular t's the best, I find the red dirt shirts are a bit scratchy and stiff. Otherwise, great t's.

Located in a convenient spot close to Poipu Beach and the Kihuana Plantation Resort, 'Ele'ele Shopping Center is a modest-sized mall with around 10 to 20 stores. The center houses a variety of establishments including a pharmacy, post office, fast-food outlets, grocery and hardware stores, as well as banks.
A good selection of shops in a convenient location: McDonald's, Hawaiian restaurants, and Big Save. The shopping center also looks nice with the trees. It's a good place to take a break on the way across the island.

Sights & Landmarks
Located in Hanapepe, Hawaii, the Hanapepe Swinging Bridge is a historic attraction that offers a fun and slightly thrilling experience for visitors of all ages. Originally constructed in the early 20th century as a passageway across the river, this suspension footbridge sustained damage from Hurricane Iniki in the 1990s but has since been repaired and reinforced. As you walk across the bridge, it sways gently, providing an exciting adventure and great photo opportunities.
Fun experience crossing the swinging bridge! 😬 Read the sign, max 15 people at a time!‼️ bridge will sway A LOT if there are lots of people crossing at once, made me nervous 🤭 Not much to see on the other side once you cross On the way back, Good photo opp while crossing the bridge and if you have your kids go ahead stand in the middle while you stay behind off on the side 👌 Cute shops in the area just before the bridge 🫶
Gloria G — Google review
The drive from Lihue didn’t take long. Hanapepe is a very sleepy town on weekends. The swinging bridge is a nice attraction but the stores around it were closed when we were there. We crossed the bridge - it was a little swingy for me, I have balance issues so I had to take it easy crossing the bridge. It was hard to take a picture or video while walking because I had to hold on to the ropes!
Justo C — Google review
Family and I loved the bridge - we were seated at a restaurant and wondered why we could see people walking above up in the air ! We almost missed it. A fun quick activity in a really beautiful and historic town.
Evan S — Google review
The Hanapepe Swinging Bridge looks cool and has some old-time charm, but overall it’s a bit underwhelming. The town itself was okay — a few cute spots, but there are so many better, more walkable towns on Kauai. Fun for a quick photo stop, but you could easily skip it.
Jennifer F — Google review
Very cool little bridge! And yes it literally swings and is kinda scary but it’s not crazy high and is over a calm river so a cool little sight to stop and see.
Brandon K — Google review
The swinging bridge was a fun attraction to go on while exploring Hanapepe. It definitely isn't for everyone as it does really get swinging, the people in front of us had to turn around after getting 1/4 of the way across.
Kevin R — Google review
Easy to access from downtown Hanapepe. It’s single person lane wide and limited to 15 people on the bridge at a one time. Just watch out for people that like to jump on the bridge side that makes it a jittery walk across the river.

Kauai Island Brewing Company is a lively brewpub that offers a wide selection of housemade beers and Hawaiian bar food. Additionally, they offer a keiki menu for kids.
Great brews and really good pizza. We are Oregon beer snobs and we enjoyed both the superfluous mistress pastry stout and the pillow talk hazy. The pizza had lots of nicely seasoned chicken. Service was efficient and friendly.

Came here for lunch as we were waiting for our snorkel tour to take place. Convenient location and staff was friendly. They have both inside and patio seating. Menu has decent amount of options and a large selection of beers on tap. Food was okay, nothing exciting. 1 of the sliders we ordered ended up having part of the cheese wrapper cooked into the burger so we didnt eat it. Rest or meal was good. If your in the area and waiting it's worth a visit.

Awesome Brewery located in Kauai. Was in Kauai for a business trip and stopped by this place on our way back to the airport. The food was pretty good. I ordered the Kalua Nachos and the loco moco. The nachos were good with a good amount of pork. Their loco moco was great as well and was very tasty! The gravy was not as salty as other places I have had loco moco berore at. Service was good as well, where our server was attentive and checked up on us often. Would recommend this to those that are traveling to kauai to check it out for good food and vibes.

Food was ok. Tried the burger and loco moco, burger was ok at best. Loco moco had no flavor and hamburger patty tasted like it had no seasoning. Lilikoi ale was good but I don't know if it is worth the price outside happy hour. There was 6 of us in total but only 4 meals were ordered. They charged 20% large party gratuity to our bill, ended up being over $120 and honestly wasn't worth the cost. The service was great, the host had a great personality.

With its casual atmosphere and stunning views, it's perfect for those looking to unwind while enjoying delicious meals like fish and chips or fresh catch of the day. The welcoming service adds to the overall experience, ensuring that every visit feels special.
This is the best and most flavorful meal we have had while in Kauai. Our Server Iesha was spot on with her recommendations. Service with a smile and very attentive. The fish & chips here were so good. So was the catch of the day and blackened shrimp. Fresh fish that was flaky, shrimp cooked perfectly, plump and juicy. Mom had the grilled catch of the day (Ono) with garlic-lemon butter sauce. Son had the curry shrimp. He dug in with gusto and almost licked the bowl clean. My order of coffee came out fresh brewed and piping hot. A casual dining experience with a partial view of the ocean. Parking was free.

The wait staff are friendly. Gave us the catch of the day option. We ordered the catch of the day Ono which made for a really fresh fish and chips. We also ordered the garlic shrimp which was an appetizer but they gave me a side of rice to make it a shrimp plate. Both dishes were very good and fresh. Recommend coming here for a visit.

Fresh seafood daily, and really kind and attentive service. Wife and I went here for the sunset view. Unfortunately, the seating is not exactly oriented and the view isn't ideal for sunsets. We still had an amazing meal at a much more affordable price than the restaurants near the resorts. Plus there is live music across the street on the weekend. Highly recommend!

What an interesting McDonald's they have rice, spam and Portuguese sausage in a combo. I went through the drive-thru and it's pretty dang good

Worst McDonalds. Making its customers use the self-serve counter service as they dont want to take people’s order themselves. Food was ok, but no ketchup offered. I had to go back at the counter to ask for it, but took a few minutes because nobody works at the counter. I then had to go back at the counter after to ask to have the restroom door open, but that also took a few minutes as there was nobody at the counter. There was also a few sanitizing dispensers, all empty. Worst McDonalds I experienced.

After a subpar lunch for my wife she got a caramel sundae. The first door I tried was locked. I saw people entering on the other side and got inside. No soda refills were available. The caramel sundae was creamy, and tasty. The sundae size keeps getting smaller - $3.99

It's as cold as Siberia. If you want to wash your hands before eating, you have to ask an employee to open the restroom, even if they're not at the counter. The restaurant is focused on customers in their cars, so there's less cleaning.

This was the coldest McDonald's I have ever been in. I got my food to go because I could not eat in that cold of a store. the workers where wearing jackets. I did have a delicious hawaiin spam breakfast but in my car

If you’re looking for the coldest place on the island, this is where to go, I kid you not my glasses fogged up once I got out and it wasn’t even hot outside (72° on this November evening). Also nobody is at the counter, they make you self order, pick a stall number but don’t bring your food to the table (why picking a number then ???), I waited at my table for about 30 minutes until I realized nobody would bring the food as they’re focused on the drive through. And when I went to request my food, the employee rudely asked why I left if I wanted my food, I never left, I simply assumed they would bring it to the table I sat at as at other locations. Other than that, the restrooms were clean, and the food was usual McDonald’s. I don’t expect much from McDonald’s, but I froze to death in there and will never forget that freezer experience.

I waited over twenty five minutes for an online order and was ignored at the counter. There are at least five employees and everyone is ignoring the front counter. It's absolutely ridiculous. Online orders are meant to be quicker. I should've just ordered at the counter at this rate. When I asked how much longer I was told to just take a seat.

I have very low expectations for McDonald’s. Still, they were way too high. I’m confident that I would have had a better dining experience if I’d just gone to the dumpster behind the Chinese restaurant next door. All indications suggest that they’re trying to set new lows for expectations.

Japanese restaurant
Nestled in the charming town of Hanapepe, Japanese Grandma's Cafe is a beloved spot offering authentic Japanese cuisine and warm hospitality. The menu features a variety of traditional dishes like sushi, ramen, and tempura made with fresh and flavorful ingredients. It's advisable to make reservations in advance due to its popularity, but walk-ins may be accommodated if space is available. The cozy dining area resembles a small garden and occasionally hosts live music performances.
Lovely evening enjoying tasty drinks, good food, and live music. We visited on a Friday evening during the market. We did have reservations. We enjoyed some sushi and tempura. Service was oddly slow with much less attention from our server than was given for other tables.

We really liked this restaurant! We started with a special roll and two sashimi dishes everything was wonderful. They have outdoor seating with music, which made for a great atmosphere. Service was fast and very good. There are a few parking spots on the street, and they have happy hour from 3 to 5 with discounts on some drinks and rolls. Great spot

This was our first meal after landing in Kauai and it did NOT disappoint! All of the food was delicious from the karaage which was so tender with a delicious eel sauce to the golden dragon sushi role to the crispy rice appetizer. Our cocktails were amazing and tasted so fresh as well, plus we got to hang out with a local stray cat who came up to us for pets! I can't recommend this place more highly! Pro tip, they will cover the cost of your meal if you adopt the stray cat haha!

The atmosphere here is wonderful! There’s live music, a cozy patio in the back and nice lighting. The food, especially the poke, is fresh and delicious. The Chicken Karaage is also really tender and pairs well with its sauce. Highly recommend coming, just the food is a little pricey.

Even though they were very busy, we had multiple people check on us to make sure we had everything we needed. The patio was spacious and live music was nice. The food was fresh and my matcha cocktail was unique, refreshing and absolutely delicious. What we will remember the most is our lovely server going above and beyond! She also helped us with menu recommendations and other recommendations for our trip.

A wonderful local restaurant with garden dining in historic Hanapepe. Went for happy hour and got seated right away. Everything was delicious but we thought their $45 sashimi bento was too steep for the small amount we got. Other than that it was ono and will be back!

We had reservations for 6 and arrived early. The hostess was kind enough to accommodate our early arrival and sat us right away. We ordered a variety of menu items - rolls, specials, soup, sashimi and more. Appetizers were delivered to table in two waves. The entree items were staggered and quite delayed - one person in our party ended up eating alone because her roll came so late. We had no service - any requests or follow up were because we had to request our missing items. Same with our check - we had to ask and we waited 15 Minutes and had to track someone down. 20% gratuity automatically added🙁 food was average - nothing stood out and was exceptional. Perhaps we caught them on a night when they were short staffed in kitchen and wait staff?

Incredible chill spot to wind down the day with the wife. If you're looking for a chill local joint and love authentic Japanese, look no further. This is the place!
