We come here twice a year, love it! Climbing the Mount is an absolute must, I try and get up there 3/4 times during our visit, the views are incredible!

The climb was good. Easy hike even my 4 year old daughter manage to reach the summit without telling me to carry her. The summit was the disappointing part since theres too much trees there and they kinda blocked the beautiful view. A little bit of trimming would make a huge difference. Would go there again. Recommended.

Amazing walk, not easy, I felt like I was very unfit even though I’ve been going to the gym! But the views were amazing. Really is a must do thing when in the Mount. Would go back and do the easier route around the mountain, but the view was spectacular. I would suggest if you go up the stairs, maybe go back down the same way, not down the road track.

Mount Maunganui is one of the most beautiful coastal spots in New Zealand. The base track is easy enough for kids and gives incredible ocean views all the way around. The main beach has clean sand, safe waves, and a peaceful family vibe — perfect for relaxing or letting the kids play freely. Whether you want a scenic walk, a swim, or just to sit and watch the sunset, this place truly feels like a small paradise.

648 steps along the 1826m climb to the summit. Your calves will burn but your heart will rejoice. This is a must see.

One of the best day of my stay in Tauranga. Great weather such a relaxing day while kayaking and enjoying the beautiful sunny weather. Tauranga it’s a great place for outdoor activities. Specially River Rafting is cool.

I have been here in the past, but Maunganui Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever visited. It is not very busy usually and it is pristine. There is high visibility so children can play and several cafés and food trucks in the area. It is a must to visit if you are in the area. Lots of free parking too.

Very long shore line with white sand, kid friendly (with supervision of course), life guards present with many food shops and food trucks to choose from and a UV Index metre to let you know what you need to do to be safe from the sun's rays. You can also do side treks to Mount Maunganui or Moturiki Island for your steps (the views are breath taking). Definitely going back to the beach (and the mountain) next time we're in Tauranga. *** Do note that parking takes time on busy hours so plan your day ahead and bring lots of patience if you wish to find a good park.. 🤙🏻

The beach is very big and beautiful. The sand is white and soft. On the weekends it can become difficult to find a parking spot although there are plenty of places, but the beach gets really crowded. There are a lot of food trucks close by and different restaurants which you can find in a couple of minutes by foot.

I loved visiting the Mount Hot Pools! It was very clean, well laid out and organized. I honestly think all pools (regular swimming pools and hot pools) should be organized like this one. Having the smaller hot tubs for adults was nice, and then the two bigger pools were of different temperature, but still enjoyable. The locker rooms were relatively clean and well maintained. The top of the stalls and ceiling areas desperately need to be dusted, though!!

It's seawater, so the skin is soft and good after swimming. However, it smells a little like disinfectant.

Salt water hot pools. Great location and open till late. Was there till 10pm gazing at the stars while immersed in hot salt water pool. Good way to relax after walking up and down the mount. Multiple pools to test your level of heat resistance. Kiddie pool with side.

It was good, but small for the price and should have a few more things in the kids area. The toddler time was good, they had extra water toys. Beautiful bathroom/changing room tiles, which makes no difference to the pool 😂 but I loved them

This is a world class facility, that Tauranga should be proud of. It’s a sea water hot pool, only one in the world. The facilities are in excellent condition, and the grounds spotless. Changing rooms had lots of benches and plenty of room in them. Lots of outside lockers available. Lots of choices for pool selections. Staff very friendly and attentive. Thanks for a great experience.

Yes!! Go here! We were down from Auckland, and just turned up on a weekday. Parking was a little hard to find but we got one eventually. Only thing I would recommend is booking for a massage etc before you arrive. We didn’t and I missed out but that’s nobody’s fault except my own, the website clearly states we need to book :) kids loved it, as did hubby and I. I’ll be back for my massage next year !

Very hip place. It was a Saturday night and our reservation was at 6:30pm. The food took a bit to get to us but it was amazing. Easily the best meal I've ever had. I ordered a Buddha bowl with chicken. We were sitting at a table near the DJ which was really loud for me but the music he chose was awesome.

This Saturday we visited Astrolabe for a family dinner, and it was an amazing experience! I absolutely loved the food and their winter cocktails. Some standout dishes for me were the Turkish lamb salad and Korean fried chicken. I also LOVED their massive goblet of brandied mulled wine 😍 and the chocolate peanut butter martini — all packed with flavour and beautifully presented. The only dish I didn’t enjoy as much was the pizza, as the dough was quite thick and it had a lot of sauce — just not my preferred style. The atmosphere was super cosy, and I especially loved the little fireplace — it made the whole experience feel warm and inviting.

Had the opportunity to check out this place tonight, Cool atmosphere with a couple of different areas which made it a fun place to be. The food was yummy but I myself wasn't a fan of the Nachos however my brother enjoyed that dish. Good customer service when we arrived and ordered our meals and drinks, the waitress who served our food was abit rude but hey that's only because I like my servers to interact with us as customers 😀. However, I would definitely go back again as it's Halloween and they were probably just busy. Thank you.

Was a little busy so can understand and wait on our cocktails, but the wait was a little over the top. Otherwise a lovely place to relax in the garden bar.

The tight arse Tuesday special at Astrolabe is excellent value for money. The beer is cold, the chips are crispy, and the burger... oh the burger. None of that artificial taste to the patty, just pure beef that melts in your mouth. WELL worth a visit!

Food was good, one of us wanted a coffee but staff said they were close for coffee the time was only 6pm sorry but there should be no excuse for it to be close Staff need to be switched on and not walk around looking lost or not interested working that's the vibe you got from some staff we were a table of 5 and ended up finding our own table. It's not hard to say find yourselves a table that doesn't have reserve on it.... not look lost or confused. Kind regards a customer

Walking into this pho spot was such a pleasant surprise—the vibrant colors immediately caught my eye and gave the place a lively feel. The sweet and friendly staff greeted us warmly, which made us feel right at home. We started with some fresh rolls, and although we didn’t notice they came without meat, they were still very delicious, especially with the flavorful dipping sauce. The interior and styling added an authentic touch, which I really appreciated. The pho itself was fantastic: generous portion sizes, warming, filling, and absolutely delicious. Even the basic pho has a bit of heat, so it’s worth checking with the staff if you prefer something milder. Overall, a great spot for comforting food and welcoming vibes—I’d definitely return.

So impressed! I ordered the pho beef noodle soup was comforting and delicious, and the tofu with nest spring roll salad was super fresh and light. You can really taste the quality. The photos I took don’t even do it justice — it tastes better than it looks, I will be coming back here 💕

The pork belly was perfectly crispy with a beautiful sticky glaze, and the tamarind ribs were tender, tangy, and full of flavour. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming. You can really tell there’s passion and care behind every dish. Rice Rice Baby is easily one of the best dining spots in the Mount — can’t wait to come back!

Amazing delicious succulent food, the best atmosphere, colours and staff. This is by far the best Restaurant I have ever eaten at. I ordered the pork belly and chicken wings in fish sauce just out of this world, full of love, culture, flavours (sweet, spicy), the textures are soft and succulent can’t fault and will definitely be back every single time I visit the Mount. Highly recommend 😊

This place is amazing, every time I drive past it is super busy which is always a good sign. The vibes are so different to anywhere else, and the service was immaculate! The dishes are HUGE but well priced and delicious. I had the creamy coconut curry and it is now my favourite ever curry to date. The banana dessert was also DIVINE. Will definitely go back!

Visited Eighty Eight Café and was impressed by the portion sizes — definitely generous and worth the price. However, the food itself was fairly average in taste. We also had quite a long wait for a table, which took away from the overall experience a bit. Good value if you’re hungry, but don’t go in a rush.

A fantastic breakfast. Smashed avocado with bacon was a very generous serve. The 88 was a terrific big breakfast with all the trimmings. Long black the best coffee on tour. Highly recommend

We 5 adults and one active 2 year old had lunch. We booked a table at the back because of dodgy weather and above little guy. It’s been a while since we were here and decided to give it a go. Their cabinet food had always been good. The meals people just so you know are huge…too huge…creamy mushrooms, omelette, bacon bagel and the 88 are all v generous. Pancakes were huge and fluffy. We over ordered and didn’t need that volume. The staff were just lovely and it came out quickly. The cafe does need a makeover. Quite dated.

Nice place. Price didn't reflect the quality of the food unfortunately. I had the eighty eight, unfortunately egg was over, the bread was doughy, beans were canned sausage was microwaved and the mushroom were full of dirt. I'd return - provided the cook was on leave

My favourite cafe in the Mount! Has an awesome selection of cabinet food and their signature eighty eight breakfast was perfect! Definitely recommend giving their carrot cake a go! So delicious. Will be back on my next visit.

Food is delicious and of large portion. Scrambled eggs are well cooked, soft and tender. Iced Latte and Iced Mocha are great. Just the cutlery is not clean, and there are food stains sometimes. The garden shed area is of nice atmosphere. Good service.

Always our first choice for brunch when visiting Mt Maunganui. The service is great, even when busy they are quick and efficient. There coffee and meals are really good. I had an awesome smashed avocado with salmon and it was a great serving.

Came up from Rotorua to try and it did not disappoint. The team were lovely and friendly. We had the baked brie for the starter and it was so good followed by the steak and prawn & avocado salad - both delicious! Will definitely come back again!

The flatbread i ordered as a starter was great. The chicken wrap i ordered as a main was just a a scam. It was a huge tortilla filled up to the brim with salad and on the top it had a couple little pieces of chicken. The mayo was disgusting, like made with milk. The way the wrap was made, was not edible with a fork, could not be picked up like a sandwich and also, it was just a salad with a bit of tortilla on the bottom. Such a cheat. I paid and went to burger king to actually eat.

We decided to eat here because the Pizza Menu looked very interesting and really enjoyed our experience. Between us we had the Baked Brie and the Carbonara Pizza and were completely full and satisfied afterwards. Brie was beautiful and creamy and went very well with the Ciabatta and Cranberries it is served with. Pizza had generous toppings, nice and cheesy and the chicken wasn’t dry which can be a bit tricky on Pizza. Star of the night was definitely the Brie! Had a lovely waitress that was very attentive. Atmosphere and background music was very good and not too busy at all. (Glad we didn’t read the reviews before coming in so we could have a completely unbiased experience. Seems to be a fair bit of inconsistency with food quality and service, which is a shame because we had a great time!)

This place is amazing, visited here 9years ago it was great then and it’s still great now, excellent staff, fantastic atmosphere, beautiful and tasty food, large portions and good prices. A must dine!!!!

Planned to go here for dinner for awhile as I thought the menu looked good online. Portions are huge. Our service was great and as far as I could see everyone there that evening got good service as well. Short wait times, venue warm, seated right away , drinks came quickly.

A bit too popular with the cruise ship passengers for an evening meal, but we went for an early Sunday lunch when it was fairly quiet. I’m so glad we did as the menu was full of so many things I would have loved to try! I opted for the Borek, which was an extremely generous serve, accompanied by a lovely, fresh Greek-style salad. I couldn’t finish it. My friend had the Hot Hummus and Dukkah, and then went on to talk about the amazing Turkish bread for days... 😆 Efficient, friendly service and fair prices.

The food was fresh and tasty. The choice of your sauces will influence if it's to your palette. My kids 3 and 5 years old shared one kids dish and it was plenty. The portions are very generous and reasonably priced.

I had the mixed vegetable pita and it was great! They have several vegetarian options,all of which looked very tasty. The service was great and the staff were friendly. It was super clean. Highly recommended!

This is by far the worst lamb kebab I have ever had. If you like your mystery meat lamb kebabs then sure it’s fine, but when you get better lamb from Woolies there’s a problem! For the price I paid it should have been the real deal. Do not recommend at all.

Ordered the veg rice and the Mezze Platter. Both were ok in taste...not too great. Also ordered the Baclava in desert. It was quite ok as well as I have already eaten the Baclava straight from Lebanon. Service was pretty good n prompt and the sitting arrangements were decent even though it was a small eating joint. If in Mt. Mangaunui area and want to eat Turkish then you may opt for it for it.

The serving sizes were satisfying, and the prices felt reasonable, making it a solid choice for a meal. The coffee lattes hit the spot, and the kids enjoyed their milkshakes. It's also great that they offer dairy-free options

Absolutely rate Dixie Browns Tauranga. We had only ever been to the Taupo one and the Devonport one - before it shut down some time ago. We have absolutely loved the food and experience at the others, and the Tauranga one did not disappoint. The staff were really helpful and efficient. The food was all absolutely delicious and the kids' burger meal is huge!. I had the calamari as a main and it was so tender and delicious. My husband had the special, which was a lamb curry in half a loaf of bread, and the flavor in the curry was amazing. My Mum had a woodfired pizza, which was absolutely massive (took most back with us for the next day) and it was perfectly cooked. She particularly loved the base sauce. The puddings are out of this world delicious. We shared the lemon meringue pie (so good!) And the chocolate mud cake - which was the lightest, most decadent, delicious choc mud cake, any of us have ever tried. Highly recommend to anyone who loves good food with decent portions.

Had a great breakfast with my partner at the restaurant, and I was really impressed! The service was quick, and we didn't wait long for our food and drinks. The hot chocolate was amazing, and the eggs Benedict were so good.

The service and atmosphere was awesome but unfortunately after hearing so much about Dixie's we finally got there and the food was disappointing almost like food chain quality. Probably the most chewy pork belly I have ever eaten and stodgy mash. My partners chicken fettuccine was dripping with garlic butter and seeing the nationality of the cooks I could understand the quality of the food and it seems to be standard with most restaurants now as mush as the staff were awesome and atmosphere was great for the price I wouldn't recommend it to anyone

Our first time there as we've just moved here. Great place for the kids and plenty of different pools to enter. There's a slide and plank too. The kids loved it.

Awesome service and the kids love the facilities. Not impressed with the lack general house keeping though, seeing a dirty nappy and food containers sit in the same place while staff walked past and even looked at multiple times over 2 hours is very concerning, I would expect to see someone whip a round with a dust pan and broom once every couples just to get it looking tidy. Also can someone please let me know why there is spectator fee and what services this fee covers? I feel it is unnecessary given its already pricey just to take the kids and given the general presentation its clearly not for cleaning. All and all the place is cool and great fund for the fams but maybe work on the presentation/house keeping especially when changing extra to sit pool side. Noone likes paying to sit in a mess

Have come to this place for a long time and have never had anything negative to say except for our experience today. My whanau and I came in with 4 kids swimming, one of them being 17 so we paid an adult price for her. The lady who checked us in was Yan? my husband and I with our 4month old were not swimming. Just spectating. When I said just 3 kids 1 adult swimming she said rudely I might add "so just four swimming? Not you all? Because we have to pay for everything around here" I was reassuring her that no, just 4 swimming and her tone was off. She even asked my son how old he was before we went in. After we paid already to which he told her 11 and even then didn't seem satisfied that we were even telling the truth of the kids ages. I'm only sharing this in hoping some customer service training will be given to this staff member and in future to not make it her job to judge people who come into this establishment.

Great family fun and well supervised. Super facilities and, for me, great experience for disabled folk. Water wheelchair and hoists into Spa pool. Fabulous 👌 A great place to book your child's birthday part. Pirates ship and great hydro slide and a pool with waves. Fun, fun, and lots of fun.

only negative feedback is the lack of cleaning, my teenager son wouldn't get dressed in the mens changing rooms as it was filthy, the same issue in the women's, then we tried the family change and was all the same. I'd like to add a suggestion also if you could at least do one day a week during school time even if it was once a month, make a sensory day, I have an autistic child plus 2 sensory sensitive girls that love to swim, loves waterslides and wave pool but the noise and crowds is to much for them during school holidays/weekend, would be nice if one day a month at least, on a school day so it's nice and quiet make it available that the hydro slide and wave pool are operating id happily even pay double price just so my kids could get a chance to do those things while the main crowd is all at school!

Nothing but a positive time and experience at clubfit baywave. Lovely staff and very approachable. Usage of weights and always a clean space. Felt very welcomed with the time I was to there. Awesome pub that has over thirty taps of craft beer, cider, premix spirits etc on tap. Many of the beers are from Mount Brewing Co which is the on-site brewery. There's a broad menu of typical pub fare, the curly fries are always a favorite with our family!

Great spot for larger groups, booking in advance best - we didn’t and were very lucky to get a table for 8 outside on a Saturday of a long weekend. Great place for kids as there’s a big field with balls, chalk for drawing on the ground, colouring in at the tables and cornhole. Heaps of beers to pick from, the three I tried were great. Food was such a surprise! The dumplings were delicious and food came out pretty quick. Kids meals were huge and good value.

We usually really enjoy coming here, the space, atmosphere and food/ beers are great. But this is now the second time we’ve been served lukewarm food. This time the dumplings came out only warm at best, and when I raised it I was bounced between staff before finally being offered new ones. Eventually they did come out hot and were tasty, but I was left feeling like a nuisance, when serving food hot should be the minimum. I would eat here again but will be asking specifically for the food to come out hot.

Easy to find although busy main road on approach. Allow extra time for peak traffic periods. Easy drop off no charge for 20 mins in drop off area. No fuss self checkin and bag drop. Helpful staff if necessary. Good cafe. Comfortable seating in wait area.

New parking lot is nice. BUT we flew our daughter into Rotorua since the flight was over $100 cheaper, one way. And a nice surprise...FREE PARKING! We made a day of it as tourists in Rotorua. Went to Krabs, great seafood restaurant and had dessert at the lake.

Great little airport with coffee and seating. Also water fountain for everyone to fill theor bottles, 2 sets of bathrooms which helps on a busy day. Great views to take off and landing for little ones to observe.

Great regional airport that occasionally sees private jets land. In the centre of Mount Maunganui and Tauranga so a 15 to 20 minute drive will get you everywhere in the city. Has a cafe, drop off, short and long term parking. There's a nearby aviation museum and a swag of aeronautical based businesses on the airport grounds.

Clean airport with great view and seating. Toilets are well appointed and there is a Cafe. Free parking for 20 minutes and plenty of parking.

We were seated very quickly and within 3 minutes of sitting down we were asked if we were ready to order. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. about 2 minutes after ordering drinks they arrived, and i was informed after commenting on the cute flower garnishing my drink that they grow them themselves! a few short minutes later our food arrived which took us both by surprise as we've never received food so efficiently from any restaurant. as soon as the food touched our lips we forgot all about taking photos and got swept up in the meal. Genuinely some of the most flavourful food either of us have ever had. Ka Pai ! we will definitely be back.

Found this restaurant on Google with spending the night at Mt Manganui. Fusion between Maori and Japanese. Got 8 dishes to share with 3 of us, and loved, every, single, dish! The host made recommendations and explained the dishes. Service was great, attentive and quick. No hesitation to recommend.

Popped up to the Mt for a weekend get away. Izakai is always first on our eats list. Thanks to Liam for accommodating us last minute! We both had the chicken ramen with a shared plate of the mushroom dumplings. All of it was top notch. Thanks to the foh staff and chefs for another awesome meal. Until next time!

We had the tasting menu. Our waiter (Rahul) was very knowledgable and spoke us through what to expect. We were not disappointed. Every course was diverse and interesting and well presented. We thought about ordering more before the mains but were absolutely stuffed by the end. More choices for wine would have been ideal. We will be returning and will definitely recommend to everyone.

First visited a couple weeks after opening and was severely disappointed at what food was offered and the taste of what was served, and after a rather long time, I decided to revisit it and I was shocked at how amazing it was this time, the Parãoa Parai was a great tasting entree which was followed up with the lovely tasting karaage chicken and kãnga and some takoyaki. It all ended up tasting perfect and definitely rewrote its reputation in my books. The atmosphere on the inside is great but the outside seating leaves much to be desired but that's just the generic seating layout which is allowed by bayfair. Staff were lovely and friendly

I just am not a fan of the ramen... I have tried and tried.. The tofu ramen in , terrible. And I love tofu! The pork ramen is ok, if you like sweet bacon.. but honestly I wish they would vamp the menu.. It's an excellent location. It has excellent service. It has excellent staff. But the food... is hit or miss.. I wish as a Māori fusion to see something... exciting! Something on another level. Something culturally relevant. I want them to bring back flowers in my food, specials of raw fish decorated so beautifully you want a picture before you eat.. I want specials that make you want to pay the big bucks to eat.. With a stale limited menu, I can say I easily walk past.. as I know in my heart, my $100 and more I pay for lunch, will be mediocre at best.. the taste doesn't hit me.. the love isn't there.. it needs some fresh ideas.. I'd love to see something that is exciting, and rocks your world. They can do it! When they first opened, and the Paua dumplings are a hit.. but after that.. it's just .. so so.. I'd suggest.. scallops on a 1/2 shell, with lime peanuts, green papaya salad, large prawns, fresh raw fish, roast duck in imperial sauce.. something that makes you so you can't walk past.. With so many restaurants in one small location, the price must be expensive for rent.. why not just wow us! You can do it! I know you can.. think about the money you can make if everyone is talking about you again... like hey! We have to go back! Yes you have your loyal customers.. but ask your self did they only reorder the same thing over and over??? Yes! How about giving them something new??? Waiting to see if it ever happens.. don't want to lose this place! It's got huge potential!!!

Holey wowzers. Came for a day trip, and stumbled on this place for a kai. From our first experience kai was amazing, service was quick n fast and our server today we would like to say a huge mihi to you,your naturally a blessing and so on to it. Since my injury this was the 1st time leaving my whare and we will definitely be back

We ordered the Angus Brisket and Fish Burger, both of which was amazing. If you have kids, ask for the Kid's Menu if they do not offer it. The kids enjoyed their meals which also came with ice cream. Nice decor and plenty of tables to enjoy your meal. It might still be a good idea to reserve a table

This place pours the best beers in town…2 degrees of crisp chilled ultra summit with great food, background music and service…you won’t be disappointed. Love this joint!

Me and my partner got the shared platter, best ribs I've ever had, soft falling off the bone with the perfect about of bqq marinade sauce, potatoes were nice and crispy to, anyone reading this review that hasn't been there get there asap you will not be disappointed

The food was so salty. The entrees were good, I ordered the Chicken wings and calamari. They were serviced as expected. For mains I ordered the margarita pizza and ribs. Both overly salty to the point they were unfinished. It was a complete let down and the wait for the mains was a bit long. Average meal, there is better places for standard pub food

Passing through Tauranga for the first time, I wasn’t sure where to stop for lunch, but choosing The Freeport turned out to be a fantastic decision. I was genuinely impressed by the high quality of the food, the warm and attentive service, and the diverse menu options. It exceeded my expectations and made for a memorable dining experience

My family and I always eat out and we have a wonderful experience. The cozy atmosphere and the food surprised us with an "explosion of flavors". Everything was great! Wonderful!

I have to say I’m really disappointed with the food at KFC Mount Maunganui. Every time I go there, the chicken tastes old and not fresh at all, which makes the whole experience very underwhelming. It’s such a letdown because I know how good KFC can be when it’s hot and cooked fresh, but this store just doesn’t deliver that. It honestly feels like the quality here has dropped, and that’s really disappointing as a customer who enjoys KFC. I truly hope the team can lift the standard, because right now it feels like the worst food experience compared to other branches.

Our first time visiting this KFC on our drive from Auckland. We went through the drive thru and asked for the jumbo bucket with half hot and spicy and half original chicken. They nearly gave our order to the car in front of us. When we unpacked our food we noticed they halved our chicken into separate buckets but it was all original chicken and no chicken thighs or hot and spicy chicken. The food tasted good though although we were a bit disappointed by not having some tasty hot and spicy chicken pieces too.

Mean service every time at KFC Mount! The crew are always friendly, food’s hot and fresh, and they’re pretty quick even when it’s busy. Place looks clean and well-run too. Easily one of the better KFCs around the Bay. 👌🍗

Ordered dinner and the guy at the speaker was not helpful, I paid for my food then found out that they didn’t have a certain food that I had already paid for then was asked to park in the car park as there was a wait on Chicken which was fine (8mins apparently). The guy came out and told me that he’d throw in a couple extra pieces as I was overcharged. Then i waited in the car park for over 40mins. I went inside and asked about my order and know one knew about it and my order was completely forgotten and not made and then when I did receive my order, I was only given half of the order and I had to ask them for the rest. No apology or anything, One person actually looks more annoyed than anything even though I didn’t complain. never saw the guy who took my order. Food was not the best I’ve had from there aswell. Disappointing
