Mauao / Mount Maunganui summit

Mauao, also known as Mount Maunganui, is an extinct 232-meter volcanic cone and a sacred site for the Maori people. It is a popular destination in Tauranga with hiking trails that provide stunning ocean views. The area around Mount Maunganui is bustling with over 16,000 residents and includes several neighboring areas.
Amazing view! The walk is a bit steep, and there are a few cliff edges to be mindful of if you're going with young kids—but we did it with our 5-year-old daughter, and she loved it. All in all, a fantastic experience!

We come here twice a year, love it! Climbing the Mount is an absolute must, I try and get up there 3/4 times during our visit, the views are incredible!
The climb was good. Easy hike even my 4 year old daughter manage to reach the summit without telling me to carry her. The summit was the disappointing part since theres too much trees there and they kinda blocked the beautiful view. A little bit of trimming would make a huge difference. Would go there again. Recommended.
Great walk with different ways to the summit. View is gorgeous. 30~ mins to the top with the quickest (steepest path). I started at 7:30am on a Tuesday.
A gorgeous mountain and fantastic walks up and over or around - I did the walk around 3 klm - beautiful and I saw Oscar the seal 🦭 hubby did up and over - steep.
Amazing walk, not easy, I felt like I was very unfit even though I’ve been going to the gym! But the views were amazing. Really is a must do thing when in the Mount. Would go back and do the easier route around the mountain, but the view was spectacular. I would suggest if you go up the stairs, maybe go back down the same way, not down the road track.
Mount Maunganui is one of the most beautiful coastal spots in New Zealand. The base track is easy enough for kids and gives incredible ocean views all the way around. The main beach has clean sand, safe waves, and a peaceful family vibe — perfect for relaxing or letting the kids play freely. Whether you want a scenic walk, a swim, or just to sit and watch the sunset, this place truly feels like a small paradise.
Really good walk, and well kept track. Missed opportunity for more viewing spots. Hard to see the view, and the top is mostly trees. Still worth ticking off, especially on a clear day, but not as good as it could be.

Maunganui Beach is a stunning coastal destination located at the base of Mount Maunganui in Tauranga, New Zealand. This picturesque beach offers miles of pristine white sand and is a popular spot for surfers due to its consistent left and right-hand breaks. The beach's sun-soaked shores provide the perfect setting for sunbathing and relaxation, with the rhythmic sound of the waves adding to the tranquil atmosphere.
Very popular beach at peak times but the views alone are worth it.
The sand is clean and the water is divinely refreshing to take a swim in.
The foreshore has a boardwalk path that you can walk along that has plenty of seating if you need to rest. There’s also water fountains to refill your drink bottles.

One of the best day of my stay in Tauranga. Great weather such a relaxing day while kayaking and enjoying the beautiful sunny weather. Tauranga it’s a great place for outdoor activities. Specially River Rafting is cool.
I have been here in the past, but Maunganui Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever visited. It is not very busy usually and it is pristine. There is high visibility so children can play and several cafés and food trucks in the area. It is a must to visit if you are in the area. Lots of free parking too.
Very long shore line with white sand, kid friendly (with supervision of course), life guards present with many food shops and food trucks to choose from and a UV Index metre to let you know what you need to do to be safe from the sun's rays. You can also do side treks to Mount Maunganui or Moturiki Island for your steps (the views are breath taking). Definitely going back to the beach (and the mountain) next time we're in Tauranga.
*** Do note that parking takes time on busy hours so plan your day ahead and bring lots of patience if you wish to find a good park.. 🤙🏻
The beach is very big and beautiful. The sand is white and soft. On the weekends it can become difficult to find a parking spot although there are plenty of places, but the beach gets really crowded. There are a lot of food trucks close by and different restaurants which you can find in a couple of minutes by foot.

Located at the base of Mauao, Mount Hot Pools offers a variety of options for visitors to enjoy. The pools feature temperatures ranging from 31c to 39c, catering to both relaxation and active experiences. Families can make use of the passive pool with massage jets, an active pool, and a toddlers' pool with a slide and fountains. Additionally, spa pools are available for further relaxation along with professional massage services.
It was a beautiful day at the mount roughly costed 75 for 2 adults 2 kids 1 infant and a baby nappy they have no food to offer but have drinks and ice creams with cafes and fast food restaurants all around them so just a stroll to get to them this is the 2nd visit here but my first with a infant they were very helpful when I asked if they could fill my baby's bottle with hot water the bathrooms have swimsuit dryer which spins the water out of the clothes and the female toilets have hair dryers all in all it's a great experience to share with your kids with a beautiful view of the mount from where ever you are in the pools all pools are heated some more than others the cost to get in is pricey but it's worth the experience even if it's just once.

I loved visiting the Mount Hot Pools! It was very clean, well laid out and organized. I honestly think all pools (regular swimming pools and hot pools) should be organized like this one. Having the smaller hot tubs for adults was nice, and then the two bigger pools were of different temperature, but still enjoyable. The locker rooms were relatively clean and well maintained. The top of the stalls and ceiling areas desperately need to be dusted, though!!
It's seawater, so the skin is soft and good after swimming. However, it smells a little like disinfectant.
Salt water hot pools. Great location and open till late. Was there till 10pm gazing at the stars while immersed in hot salt water pool. Good way to relax after walking up and down the mount. Multiple pools to test your level of heat resistance. Kiddie pool with side.
It was good, but small for the price and should have a few more things in the kids area.
The toddler time was good, they had extra water toys.
Beautiful bathroom/changing room tiles, which makes no difference to the pool 😂 but I loved them
This is a world class facility, that Tauranga should be proud of. It’s a sea water hot pool, only one in the world. The facilities are in excellent condition, and the grounds spotless. Changing rooms had lots of benches and plenty of room in them. Lots of outside lockers available. Lots of choices for pool selections. Staff very friendly and attentive. Thanks for a great experience.
Left a review last time about no towels but whoever the lady was that was on at reception went out of her way to get some towels as there were none at reception like last time. She was amazing. Didn’t catch her name but appreciate it!!

We chose to come to Astrolabe for dinner after a show in the mount. It was packed but luckily we got a table outside which didn’t bother us. The food and drinks were great and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

Very hip place. It was a Saturday night and our reservation was at 6:30pm. The food took a bit to get to us but it was amazing. Easily the best meal I've ever had. I ordered a Buddha bowl with chicken.

This Saturday we visited Astrolabe for a family dinner, and it was an amazing experience! I absolutely loved the food and their winter cocktails.
Some standout dishes for me were the Turkish lamb salad and Korean fried chicken. I also LOVED their massive goblet of brandied mulled wine 😍 and the chocolate peanut butter martini — all packed with flavour and beautifully presented.
The only dish I didn’t enjoy as much was the pizza, as the dough was quite thick and it had a lot of sauce — just not my preferred style.
The atmosphere was super cosy, and I especially loved the little fireplace — it made the whole experience feel warm and inviting.
Had the opportunity to check out this place tonight, Cool atmosphere with a couple of different areas which made it a fun place to be. The food was yummy but I myself wasn't a fan of the Nachos however my brother enjoyed that dish. Good customer service when we arrived and ordered our meals and drinks, the waitress who served our food was abit rude but hey that's only because I like my servers to interact with us as customers 😀. However, I would definitely go back again as it's Halloween and they were probably just busy. Thank you.

The tight arse Tuesday special at Astrolabe is excellent value for money. The beer is cold, the chips are crispy, and the burger... oh the burger. None of that artificial taste to the patty, just pure beef that melts in your mouth. WELL worth a visit!
Food was good, one of us wanted a coffee but staff said they were close for coffee the time was only 6pm sorry but there should be no excuse for it to be close
Staff need to be switched on and not walk around looking lost or not interested working that's the vibe you got from some staff we were a table of 5 and ended up finding our own table. It's not hard to say find yourselves a table that doesn't have reserve on it.... not look lost or confused. Kind regards a customer

Walking into this pho spot was such a pleasant surprise—the vibrant colors immediately caught my eye and gave the place a lively feel. The sweet and friendly staff greeted us warmly, which made us feel right at home. We started with some fresh rolls, and although we didn’t notice they came without meat, they were still very delicious, especially with the flavorful dipping sauce. The interior and styling added an authentic touch, which I really appreciated. The pho itself was fantastic: generous portion sizes, warming, filling, and absolutely delicious. Even the basic pho has a bit of heat, so it’s worth checking with the staff if you prefer something milder. Overall, a great spot for comforting food and welcoming vibes—I’d definitely return.

Absolutely delicious! We had the BA RỌI CHIÊN GIÒN (Crispy Pork Belly in Sticky Sauce) and SƯỜN RANG ME (Tamarind Spare Ribs) — both were incredible. The pork belly was perfectly crispy with a beautiful sticky glaze, and the tamarind ribs were tender, tangy, and full of flavour.
The staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming. You can really tell there’s passion and care behind every dish. Rice Rice Baby is easily one of the best dining spots in the Mount — can’t wait to come back!
Amazing delicious succulent food, the best atmosphere, colours and staff. This is by far the best Restaurant I have ever eaten at. I ordered the pork belly and chicken wings in fish sauce just out of this world, full of love, culture, flavours (sweet, spicy), the textures are soft and succulent can’t fault and will definitely be back every single time I visit the Mount. Highly recommend 😊
This place is amazing, every time I drive past it is super busy which is always a good sign. The vibes are so different to anywhere else, and the service was immaculate! The dishes are HUGE but well priced and delicious. I had the creamy coconut curry and it is now my favourite ever curry to date. The banana dessert was also DIVINE. Will definitely go back!

Visited Eighty Eight Café and was impressed by the portion sizes — definitely generous and worth the price. However, the food itself was fairly average in taste. We also had quite a long wait for a table, which took away from the overall experience a bit. Good value if you’re hungry, but don’t go in a rush.

We 5 adults and one active 2 year old had lunch. We booked a table at the back because of dodgy weather and above little guy. It’s been a while since we were here and decided to give it a go. Their cabinet food had always been good. The meals people just so you know are huge…too huge…creamy mushrooms, omelette, bacon bagel and the 88 are all v generous. Pancakes were huge and fluffy. We over ordered and didn’t need that volume. The staff were just lovely and it came out quickly. The cafe does need a makeover. Quite dated.
Nice place. Price didn't reflect the quality of the food unfortunately. I had the eighty eight, unfortunately egg was over, the bread was doughy, beans were canned sausage was microwaved and the mushroom were full of dirt.

My favourite cafe in the Mount! Has an awesome selection of cabinet food and their signature eighty eight breakfast was perfect! Definitely recommend giving their carrot cake a go! So delicious. Will be back on my next visit.

Food is delicious and of large portion. Scrambled eggs are well cooked, soft and tender. Iced Latte and Iced Mocha are great. Just the cutlery is not clean, and there are food stains sometimes. The garden shed area is of nice atmosphere. Good service.

Zeytin at the Mount is a popular dining spot with an interesting pizza menu and generous portions. The Baked Brie and Carbonara Pizza were particularly satisfying, with the brie being creamy and complemented by ciabatta and cranberries. The Borek was also highly recommended, served in large portions alongside a fresh Greek-style salad. Visitors praised the efficient and friendly service as well as the fair prices.
Nice food with great customer service. We love this place. There foods are very yummy. They are always busy. You will get hips of car parking beside the road but you need find yourself on busy time.

Came up from Rotorua to try and it did not disappoint. The team were lovely and friendly. We had the baked brie for the starter and it was so good followed by the steak and prawn & avocado salad - both delicious! Will definitely come back again!
The flatbread i ordered as a starter was great. The chicken wrap i ordered as a main was just a a scam. It was a huge tortilla filled up to the brim with salad and on the top it had a couple little pieces of chicken. The mayo was disgusting, like made with milk. The way the wrap was made, was not edible with a fork, could not be picked up like a sandwich and also, it was just a salad with a bit of tortilla on the bottom. Such a cheat. I paid and went to burger king to actually eat.
We decided to eat here because the Pizza Menu looked very interesting and really enjoyed our experience. Between us we had the Baked Brie and the Carbonara Pizza and were completely full and satisfied afterwards.
Brie was beautiful and creamy and went very well with the Ciabatta and Cranberries it is served with. Pizza had generous toppings, nice and cheesy and the chicken wasn’t dry which can be a bit tricky on Pizza. Star of the night was definitely the Brie!
Had a lovely waitress that was very attentive. Atmosphere and background music was very good and not too busy at all.

This place is amazing, visited here 9years ago it was great then and it’s still great now, excellent staff, fantastic atmosphere, beautiful and tasty food, large portions and good prices. A must dine!!!!
Planned to go here for dinner for awhile as I thought the menu looked good online. Portions are huge. Our service was great and as far as I could see everyone there that evening got good service as well. Short wait times, venue warm, seated right away , drinks came quickly.
A bit too popular with the cruise ship passengers for an evening meal, but we went for an early Sunday lunch when it was fairly quiet. I’m so glad we did as the menu was full of so many things I would have loved to try! I opted for the Borek, which was an extremely generous serve, accompanied by a lovely, fresh Greek-style salad. I couldn’t finish it. My friend had the Hot Hummus and Dukkah, and then went on to talk about the amazing Turkish bread for days... 😆 Efficient, friendly service and fair prices.

The food itself is always fresh and tasty, with a variety of sauces available to suit every palate.
Absolutely loved our meal here. We had the chicken and rice iskender with a side of chips. Much more reasonably priced than adjacent restaurants. The kids are finally sold on these kind of meals and it totally refueled us after our walk up and over the Mount. It was quiet enough to sit inside and get out of the wind.

We came here 3 times during our stay at the Mt. Food was tasty, good sizes and not overpriced like other cafés etc were.
The food was fresh and tasty. The choice of your sauces will influence if it's to your palette.
My kids 3 and 5 years old shared one kids dish and it was plenty. The portions are very generous and reasonably priced.
I had the mixed vegetable pita and it was great! They have several vegetarian options,all of which looked very tasty.

This is by far the worst lamb kebab I have ever had. If you like your mystery meat lamb kebabs then sure it’s fine, but when you get better lamb from Woolies there’s a problem! For the price I paid it should have been the real deal. Do not recommend at all.

It was quite ok as well as I have already eaten the Baclava straight from Lebanon. Service was pretty good n prompt and the sitting arrangements were decent even though it was a small eating joint. If in Mt. Mangaunui area and want to eat Turkish then you may opt for it for it.

Absolutely rate Dixie Browns Tauranga. We had only ever been to the Taupo one and the Devonport one - before it shut down some time ago. We have absolutely loved the food and experience at the others, and the Tauranga one did not disappoint. The staff were really helpful and efficient. The food was all absolutely delicious and the kids' burger meal is huge!. I had the calamari as a main and it was so tender and delicious. My husband had the special, which was a lamb curry in half a loaf of bread, and the flavor in the curry was amazing. My Mum had a woodfired pizza, which was absolutely massive (took most back with us for the next day) and it was perfectly cooked. She particularly loved the base sauce. The puddings are out of this world delicious. We shared the lemon meringue pie (so good!) And the chocolate mud cake - which was the lightest, most decadent, delicious choc mud cake, any of us have ever tried. Highly recommend to anyone who loves good food with decent portions.

It’s really wonderful in a time where every business is cutting costs to be delighted at the generous portion sizes of the meals. We dined on a Sunday evening. The prices are market relative, and it’s an extensive menu. Service was efficient and friendly, with nothing being a problem, as we wanted to move tables. A nice touch was being asked after our starters if we wanted our mains ordered away in the kitchen. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable with a nice vibe going on. Highly recommended place to dine. The desert cabinet looked to die for.

The food is delicious we had the caramel latte which was pretty good and the Belgian waffle was really good but it was kind of burnt also we had the toastie which was amazing also the bacon was great (some of the best ever), as well me and my brother tried the milkshakes and I would really recommend them I would recommend the breakfast special because it is good food but really cheap.all in all we had a wonderful breakfast and would love to come back!

It is clean and lots and lots of shops. Plenty of free parking. I travelled by number 5 bus from the cruise port in Tauranga, $3.80 each way cash only if you don’t have the local transport card.
Better to go to Bayfair shopping centre than Tauranga CBD.

The center features a wave-generating pool, an exciting water slide, and a dedicated area for toddlers. Additionally, the complex includes the largest wave pool in New Zealand. When weather doesn't permit outdoor adventures, this aquatic haven provides an excellent alternative for fun and entertainment.
We were on a school trip, and the kids loved it. Warm enough to not get cold, but not too warm either. Lots of fun activities for kids, and saunas and spa pools are wonderful, a little bit expensive but well worth it. 5 stars from me

Our first time there as we've just moved here. Great place for the kids and plenty of different pools to enter. There's a slide and plank too. The kids loved it.

Not impressed with the lack general house keeping though, seeing a dirty nappy and food containers sit in the same place while staff walked past and even looked at multiple times over 2 hours is very concerning, I would expect to see someone whip a round with a dust pan and broom once every couples just to get it looking tidy.
Also can someone please let me know why there is spectator fee and what services this fee covers? I feel it is unnecessary given its already pricey just to take the kids and given the general presentation its clearly not for cleaning.
All and all the place is cool and great fund for the fams but maybe work on the presentation/house keeping especially when changing extra to sit pool side. Noone likes paying to sit in a mess
Have come to this place for a long time and have never had anything negative to say except for our experience today. My whanau and I came in with 4 kids swimming, one of them being 17 so we paid an adult price for her. The lady who checked us in was Yan? my husband and I with our 4month old were not swimming. Just spectating. When I said just 3 kids 1 adult swimming she said rudely I might add "so just four swimming? Not you all? Because we have to pay for everything around here" I was reassuring her that no, just 4 swimming and her tone was off. She even asked my son how old he was before we went in. After we paid already to which he told her 11 and even then didn't seem satisfied that we were even telling the truth of the kids ages. I'm only sharing this in hoping some customer service training will be given to this staff member and in future to not make it her job to judge people who come into this establishment.

only negative feedback is the lack of cleaning, my teenager son wouldn't get dressed in the mens changing rooms as it was filthy, the same issue in the women's, then we tried the family change and was all the same.
I'd like to add a suggestion also if you could at least do one day a week during school time even if it was once a month, make a sensory day, I have an autistic child plus 2 sensory sensitive girls that love to swim, loves waterslides and wave pool but the noise and crowds is to much for them during school holidays/weekend, would be nice if one day a month at least, on a school day so it's nice and quiet make it available that the hydro slide and wave pool are operating id happily even pay double price just so my kids could get a chance to do those things while the main crowd is all at school!

Great option for a rainy or sunny day. With a wave pool that runs every 30 mins, a kids water play area and a Hydro-slide, it will keep the kids entertained for hours. There is also a spa and sauna for additional cost. There is a cafe on site and ample parking on site

Awesome pub that has over thirty taps of craft beer, cider, premix spirits etc on tap. Many of the beers are from Mount Brewing Co which is the on-site brewery. There's a broad menu of typical pub fare, the curly fries are always a favorite with our family!

New parking lot is nice. BUT we flew our daughter into Rotorua since the flight was over $100 cheaper, one way. And a nice surprise...FREE PARKING! We made a day of it as tourists in Rotorua. Went to Krabs, great seafood restaurant and had dessert at the lake.

We were seated very quickly and within 3 minutes of sitting down we were asked if we were ready to order. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. about 2 minutes after ordering drinks they arrived, and i was informed after commenting on the cute flower garnishing my drink that they grow them themselves! a few short minutes later our food arrived which took us both by surprise as we've never received food so efficiently from any restaurant. as soon as the food touched our lips we forgot all about taking photos and got swept up in the meal. Found this restaurant on Google with spending the night at Mt Manganui. Fusion between Maori and Japanese. Got 8 dishes to share with 3 of us, and loved, every, single, dish! The host made recommendations and explained the dishes. Service was great, attentive and quick. No hesitation to recommend.
Easily one of the most unique fusion cuisines I have eaten so far in New Zealand, the ramen and the tuna are a must try. It is a bit pricey but I think the fineness of the food well makes up for. The service could be a better.

We ordered the Angus Brisket and Fish Burger, both of which was amazing. If you have kids, ask for the Kid's Menu if they do not offer it. The kids enjoyed their meals which also came with ice cream. One of the top pub quizzes in New Zealand, nay Planet Earth. Superb food and drink in an inspired rustic setting, hosted by one of the great Quiz masters of the modern age Timbo. Don’t be fooled by his laid-back demeanour, behind that warm and embracing gaze is a razor-sharp wit, ready to slice dice and serve up snappy one-liners at relentless pace for the night’s entertainment. Perfect for getting fed, watered and in bed before 930 on a school night. 10/10, will spend my money on their fairly priced wood-fired pizza and chocolate brownies again.
I spend far too much time here and there's a reason for that: it's like a home from home. The food's great and the range of beers is likewise. Staff are friendly and are interested in their jobs which makes a huge difference. Live music is good, and not too loud so you can still hold a conversation. Awesome job guys.

I have to say I’m really disappointed with the food at KFC Mount Maunganui. Every time I go there, the chicken tastes old and not fresh at all, which makes the whole experience very underwhelming. It’s such a letdown because I know how good KFC can be when it’s hot and cooked fresh, but this store just doesn’t deliver that.
It honestly feels like the quality here has dropped, and that’s really disappointing as a customer who enjoys KFC. I truly hope the team can lift the standard, because right now it feels like the worst food experience compared to other branches.
Our first time visiting this KFC on our drive from Auckland.
We went through the drive thru and asked for the jumbo bucket with half hot and spicy and half original chicken.
They nearly gave our order to the car in front of us.
When we unpacked our food we noticed they halved our chicken into separate buckets but it was all original chicken and no chicken thighs or hot and spicy chicken.
The food tasted good though although we were a bit disappointed by not having some tasty hot and spicy chicken pieces too.
Mean service every time at KFC Mount! The crew are always friendly, food’s hot and fresh, and they’re pretty quick even when it’s busy. Place looks clean and well-run too. Easily one of the better KFCs around the Bay. 👌🍗

Ordered dinner and the guy at the speaker was not helpful, I paid for my food then found out that they didn’t have a certain food that I had already paid for then was asked to park in the car park as there was a wait on Chicken which was fine (8mins apparently). The guy came out and told me that he’d throw in a couple extra pieces as I was overcharged. Then i waited in the car park for over 40mins. I went inside and asked about my order and know one knew about it and my order was completely forgotten and not made and then when I did receive my order, I was only given half of the order and I had to ask them for the rest. No apology or anything, One person actually looks more annoyed than anything even though I didn’t complain. never saw the guy who took my order. Food was not the best I’ve had from there aswell. Disappointing

If you Google "Best playground in Tauranga", you are likely to get Memorial Park coming up near the top and I can see why. Lots of parking available near the playground, which consists of a variety of activities to keep the kids entertained. The Rocket slide is awesome. This is one of the few parks my family truly loves to visit. It offers plenty of parking, making it convenient, and its location near the city means we don’t have to travel far. The open spaces, well-maintained facilities, and relaxing atmosphere make it a great spot for family outings and birthday celebrations.
Labour Day 2023 long weekend stroll... Spacious place to have picnics and a children's play- ground right across an estuary beach. Relaxing to unwind and free your mind. The only thing noticeable are cars parked of homeless sleeping in it.

It was a sunny beautiful day. We came here around 12. noon, and first enjoyed a cool train ride. Kids had a really fun time. Then they wanted to ride a car, it is a 7 minutes ride for 7 dollars. Two kids fit in one car. There is a mini golf too. Plenty of piknic tables, a nice playground for kids, tall slide, even adults can have a go. It is situated in a beautiful location. One side is beautiful sea and the other side you can see the roof tops of nice town houses. It is a great location that you can spend few hours with your kids. There are clean public toilets. Oh I forgot Ice cream 🍦
Took my Special Needs daughter down and met her friends there for the Halloween train rides. Lovely lot of people helping out with the train rides, so friendly helpful and supportive of our loved ones who got to have many rounds of train rides. The delight 😊 that showed on their faces said it all! Thank you do much to everyone who voluntarily gives up their time to run the trains for everyone 👌
What an amazing park, for kids of all ages and tastes. There is this tall slider in a rocket form, monkey bars and heaps of other things to play with. For toddlers, there is the small car circuit, where they can drive jeeps, fire trucks and have fun for around 5min. For skate enthusiasts, a giant half pipe and a circuit will make your day. There are bbq places and decent toilets. Also, miniature trains go on certain Sundays. Attached to the park, you can play tennis table and practice futsal or volleyball as well. Forgot to mention the 18 holes mini golf course, worth trying. Looking forward to come back in the summer and enjoy the pools.
Parking around Devonport Memorial Park is usually easy and free. On office days, if you arrive earlier in the morning, you're more likely to grab a hot parking spot before it fills up—especially close to the park or near the shops. Makes attending weekday activities or appointments much smoother!

I visited this lovely village on a Friday, and it was such a peaceful experience! The vintage style of the place is charming, with its quaint architecture and timeless atmosphere. It was quiet and some shops were closed.
The place itself is fantastic! A cute little village vibe to wander and engage with local artists and businesses.
Unfortunately we went to the cafe and I chose the salmon quiche- which turned out to be a bacon quiche. There was no salmon in the quiche at all, just the one piece on the top. So our dogs enjoyed a treat, while I got a bad taste in my mouth about the Cafe there.
Very small and not much to look at . Shockingly most of the shops were closed . One thing that i noticed that no shop owners talk to you or give you any smile which was very rude . Howick village is far better . Lot of area is needed to work out with . This place certainly needs people who love other people and not another robot .
Historic Village with interesting old buildings that house shops and other stores. I was only able to admire from the outside this time, as there was an AIMS Games Orienteering event that was run at this venue on the day I visited. I'll be sure to make another trip to visit again and check out Village from within

We went on a Monday, so few pla es was closed and they were doing construction on the site. Spent some time i the well stocked vynil shop. Great place...have been before and great spot to visit with your family.
Such a cute vintage village! It felt like going back in town. There's a cafe with honestly the most aesthetic and appetising cabinet food and amazing coffee, a cinema, lots of fashion stores, a tattoo parlour and even pottert studio!

Tauranga Art Gallery is a modern and airy space located in the heart of Tauranga's CBD. It was awarded the NZIA National Award in 2009 for its innovative transformation from a former bank into an art gallery. The gallery features rotating displays of modern artworks in various media, as well as a gift shop. It aims to encourage interactive learning and creative exploration for visitors of all ages, offering an eclectic mix of art forms from modern creations to time-honored pieces.
Great Experience for old and young. We had a Art Gallery Homeschool class there from Rita Angus how to draw a Portrait and I can just highly recommend it, the Lady was so lovely with all of the Kids. Many thanks for organising things like that for our Community 💚

Beautiful experience in gallery space right in the heart of downtown with interesting exhibitions of four Newzelanders artists: Rita Angus, Hiria Anderson- Mita, Ron Te Kawa and Dream Girls Art Collective that have transformed the Gallery's atrium in a psychedelic world dominated by tree very big murals. Friendly staff and great presentation of artwork.

What a really cool place its a bit of a hidden gem. I didnt know it was there. We took my 2 year old so all the planes were just fascinating. Food and coffee was great.
Play ground needs a little updating but honestly can't fault anything but that. We loved watching the fire trucks and the jet plane being brought in. Also they have an on premise licence so a cheeky wine is available 😉
The museum was more interesting than I expected. Was able to look into the cockpits and walk through airplanes. Information given on wall displays was interesting. The children's play area was good.
We have taken our Grandkids here over the years, with varying degrees of enjoyment. Definitely a place for plane enthusiasts as they have a large amount of aviation history on display and presented well. Would say all the restoration work requires a lot of funding so can understand the entry price. Under 5s are free which is fair and if you look on the Bookme NZ site you can pick up cheaper adult tickets. The cafe was busy but prices are expensive. Only criticism is I hope they tidy up the playground area. Long grass and starting to look tired. The plane pedal cars are always a hit.

I've just been here this afternoon for bottomless brunch and I have to jump straight on here to rave about how good it was. I've been to a few bottomless brunches in the past at other restaurants, and honestly Doca is the best. I really liked the kind and friendly staff, they want to make sure you have a good time. The brunch includes generous starters with grazing platters which other bottomless brunches do not do, and the lunch was really nice. It's great that the menu has cocktails and they are all really well made, and strong. I will definitely be back and telling more people. I believe our server tonight was "Maddy"? Lovely spot, service is always amazing and it is our new go to for drinks after work! Pizzas are delicious, entrees can be a little bit hit or miss but overall pretty good! Food and drinks also reasonably priced.

The AA promo should be more noticeable, not turned around on the counter - it would make for a much greater experience!
Absolutely love a Burger Fuel. Had been many many years since I had visited the Tauranga store. First time for my husband. Large open store, lots of seating options. First time I noticed the oat option for a shake and fell in love with a banana oat shake! Burgers are always top tier, good serving portions also. Highly recommend and would definitely be back to BurgerFuel.

Me and my husband went there last night and it was absolutely amazing, every course was cooked to perfection!!! Atmosphere was great! It really was enjoyable. Waitresses could have been more alert, as we waited sometime (20mins) after each meal to fetch a waitress who was happily on her phone. Mind you it was quiet and we didnt mind but overall was a pleasant evening and would highly recommend. I will definately be back thats for sure!!

The food was beautiful; we shared an entrée for two, which was a great way to sample a variety of dishes—definitely something I would recommend. The beauty of being able to have any restaurant meals delivered to the comfort of your own home when the weather is cold! My brother has been right into his green Thai curries lately so we thought we'd give this place a try. We ordered the most outstanding dish and the popular dish they had on the menu and they were both delicious 😋 I usually see this place busy all the time and wondered what the hype was and now I know!!
I have to say I’m a bit of a Thai food fan and last I had the best experience at Thai To Go.
Paid Thai can be overrated sometimes but not when you have the chicken n prawns I had yesterday, just a perfect amount in every way.
Also loved the red curry duck that had a hint of spicy so made is perfect too.
They also have these different taste gins very refreshing.
Then we sung happy birthday to my mother in law for her 70s and the night ended just perfect.
The service was great and the owner always making sure that everyone is happy.

Pilot Bay Beach is a prime location in Downtown Tauranga, offering stunning views of the bay and international cruise ships. Situated at the foot of Mount Maunganui, this beach provides easy access to cafes, restaurants, walking tracks on Mauao suitable for all ages, boutique shops, boardwalks along the harbor and surf beach with food vendors, and saltwater hot pools. The sandy beach with clear waters is perfect for swimming and offers various activities to create lasting memories.

There’s a boardwalk to stroll along, a grassy area for the kids to play on, plenty of sandy beach, seating, toilet facilities and drinking fountains.
There’s limited parking though so the earlier you arrive the better.
We visited on a Saturday morning and there were plenty of vendors there offering paddle boarding, jet skis, cattermeran hire etc.
Lots of activities on offer or just enjoy the leisurely walk along the path u der the beautiful Norfolk pines.

Pretty scenic place for a walk, it does have a concrete sidewalk, picnic tables, benches, accessible restrooms and a grill. Not sure if that grill is for public use since it’s on the sidewalk. There are a lot of street parking spots and some dedicated parking spots, but availability is relative to peak times so plan accordingly.
Very popular for sunsets. Get there early if you want a park.

Great lead in to walk round the mount. Great for young families to take the kids to swim in as it has no surf to speak off. Ready access to downtown the mount which is only a block away.

Our one night stay here was lovely! We got an amazing location right on the beach front. Which we thought would be loud but it wasn’t too bad.
Showers were clean, free hot water with good water pressure. Never have to wait in line. Receptionist was very welcoming and helpful. Other campers were lovely and friendly. So close to the mount walkway and the beach. Would definitely stay here again.

This is an iconic camp ground in the heart of Mount Maunganui at the base of the actual mountain. Excellent facilities with immaculate toilets and showers. The grounds are well maintained and the camp guide gives all the necessary info. Fobs are used to gain entry to all facilities. Sites are level with adequate space for a vehicle to park as well. Walking distance to shops, and of course the iconic trails around the Mountain it’s self. The only criticism would be oven in the kitchen by caravan sites near Pilot Bay is not very efficient. Probably does need a replacement. Highly recommend this camp.
The receptionist was so lovely when I checked in and the place is just the best. The walking distance to the hot pools is very nice as well as the amenities on site.
I stayed in my car and had super quiet nights as well as a beautiful views of sunrise and sunset.

So to start when we checked in we went to room and then went to ask for wifi, reception lady told us in a rude and abrupt way “can’t you see we are busy and come back later. Also don’t get wifi, it won’t work, 11 of us staying and none of us got reception apart from in kitchen. The routers get overloaded and kick you off when you do connect. We went on the market day and it was fantastic! Plenty of food stalls from all around the world, art crafts, clothes, music, you name it! Lucky us we went on a day which couldn’t be any sunnier!
Fantastic for the local events that take place here, at the time of writing this we had just attended the VW classic car meet/Little Big Markets and it was excellent, well organised event, while you are in the Mount always look out for the little big markets, local car meets, food markets or fundraisers as they are always worth a visit here.
As a possible vendor for summer 25. I was disappointed how they don't have flexibility for alternative stalls such as bouncy castles and blow up stalls.
I am also unhappy how I was blocked and my money wasn't refunded after multiple emails and calls before the 3 month expiry date ended.
Nice water feature, close to shops
A lovely place to relax after work. The place is so nice and clean. An what I love is there are few ducks on the pond. It’s relaxing when you sit you could see some kids chasing the duck and playing around. Good place to take the kids out.

It is a very hot day. After checking out some of the shops along Maunganui Road and Banks Avenue, my wife and I take a short cut through Coronation Park to the Port of Tauranga.
Coronation Park is not a very big park, but the lustrous green lawn and distinctive trees are well maintained. It is a weekday, and the temperature is not ready mild for people to have picnic in the open. In fact, we cannot see anyone in the walking in the park.
I do not think the park has a playground for the kids.

We have only been to the clip and climb side so far, it is lots of fun for the kids, entertaining them for most of the hour allocated. my sister and her family visiting from overseas missed out on the extra activities you buy as apparently they don't run them at the end of the last session like they do the earlier sessions, but unfortunately we weren't told this until it was too late which was disappointing, as it was there only opportunity to try them. We would have appreciated knowing that in advance, as it wasn't in the briefing or told to us on arrival or any of the other times we've been, which was disappointing. If you're reading this far and wanting to try the two extra activities then at least you know now to not go to the 4pm session!
Had a party today at Rocktopia Tauranga and what a blast we had. Recommend party bookings for sure! Was so much fun! Our son turned 7 and his friends and our family just loved this place. An hour climbing around and ending with the slides was a highlight for them all. The party room hire for an hour was just what we needed for them to play, eat and celebrate with cake.. thanks team for a great day. It went extremely well!! the kids left chuffed and full of excitement, and the adults left feeling very proud of there adventurous, happy children.
10/10 recommend for the kids.

Kids absolutely loved it and the time went really fast. Really well priced and great value. Super safe and easy to use for kids of all ages. Friendly and helpful staff onsite to help out and whilst we didn't utilize the Cafe, it's great to have somewhere parents can grab a coffee if they're not climbing.

Watching my grandchildren, including the five year old birthday girl, was so much fun. There are climbing challenges for all ages, including timing challenges. Also a Cafe is on the premises.

The kids had the best time ever. Loved naming the animals and searching out each one. You can spend quite a bit of time searching and playing as an activity before you even get to the playpark next door. Suitable for various ages too. Different heights mean our 1 yo and 5 yo both had fun climbing and playing around the statues.
Really appreciate the waterfront, family friendly, steps down to the estuary to dip your feet. Hairy Maclary dog, water feature, and playground. Nice to go there after dinner at the nearby restaurants.
Nice play to bring your young kids for a visit especially if they have read the books. Ask them to name the dogs and cats. It's fun.
Hairy Maclary and Friends Sculptures on the waterfront. The sculptures are a favourite with the young ones, as many sit on or next to the statues to take photos with them. The sculptures are behind a fence, with a sign next to it. You won't miss from the water side if walking by

My kids are big fans of the Hairy Maclary books so they were excited to come see the statues. They're all together in a little area and are approximately life-sized so kids can climb all over them (except perhaps muffin maclay as he's a bit spikey). The usual suspects are there with scarface claw up a pole the subject of their attention but there are also some cool little details e.g. slinky malinki creeping along the edge of the scene or zachary quack whispering into the ear of hercules morse.

My eldest had the regular beef and cheese. My wife had the Smoky burger, and I had the pulled pork tacos.
I should have stuck with the burgers as the patty was thick, juicy and flavorful!!! Don’t get me wrong, the pulled pork tacos was good too, I was just blown away with the burger more.
Will definitely dine here again when we visit Tauranga again 😊

So, I've been hesitant to try Burger Burger, after hearing reports from friends that it is only average at best.
I went for the first time on Saturday.
I tried both the Kiwi burger ($25) and the Smokey burger ($22). I didn't feel either of them were very special, and not very big for the price.
I thought the quality of ingredients was good, but the meat patty on both burgers was dry, hard, and lacked any flavor. I felt the beef was low quality and likely pre frozen. It seemed to have a filler too.
Smokey had too much bbq sauce, kiwi burger had too much mustard.
The curly fries were good, but a very small portion for the price. The aioli that came with the fries was great, but just squirted on top of the fries.. Why not in a side dish?
Service was okay, just average.
All in all, my friends were right, average at best.
There are better burgers in town, for better prices.
I won't be going back to burger burger.
Really enjoyed my lunch here on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The Kiwi burger was properly loaded and sloppy (which I like) and the roasted broccoli with almonds was a tasty alternative to fries. Service was quick and attentive, and the atmosphere was very laid-back. Would definitely come back and bring friends in the future!
Nice experience here for lunch. I don't do bread, so was able to have my beef burger in a lettuce wrap, which was...lettucey! Wouldn't do it again as sauce dropped everywhere. The chicken burger my friend had was great. Roasted broccoli was super tasty and the raspberry mojito was great too. Atmosphere is pretty loud with music and seating pretty close together. Would i come here again, maybe, with the kids. Service was very attentive even though it was busy and food came fast.

The scotch and bacon burger was amazing.
Mu pick would be the beer battered fries. Bit on the expensive side but worth it.
The lovely lady serving the food and the one at counter are extremely friendly and helpful to deal with.
Parking may be bit hard to find.

Pronto is a place that keeps delivering on quality. Friendly staff, and while this is a smaller establishment it is so worth a visit. Outdoor seating allows for views across to the beach and Mauao, inside setting is very limited. But this place is worth a stop with food at reasonable prices and always to the highest quality.

Came here with a friend, our orders came quite quickly, so pleased about that. I ordered egg and bacon roll but I got an egg and bacon burger instead lol all good though. My friend ordered breakfast waffles she said she enjoyed hers too. Great atmosphere, nice and sunny weather in the Mount so what could go wrong. :) it was an overall good experience.
Meals are great. Drink orders came out fast. Food was just a good size. Outdoors only and a lot of seagulls so it can be a little bother. Only suggestion would be if the special offered another alternative to coffee or an option to pay for difference. No water table service either.
We ordered the eggs of toast and a $5 side of avocado, the bread was soggy, the eggs were overcooked, and the small portion of avocado was flavourless. The smoothie I ordered also lacked flavour and was icy. We also got the $25 burger and beer deal, the burger patty was clearly a cheap pre made patty and the overall appearance and quality was poor, and the beer wasn’t even a full glass it was served in a smaller glass. Very disappointed and won’t ever return. Save your money.
Had a very nice breakfast here. The waffle was amazing. The green bowl was OK but left me a bit hungry. Might just be my appetite though! Very nice and accommodating staff. It was very busy and they stayed professional and welcoming and the food came out quickly and tasted great.

I love this place! We went here twice while we stayed at The Mt. We did not need a reservation as we went during the off season. The food was fresh and hot. The dessert was my favorite, especially the pavlova and anzac biscuits, everything is homemade. The staff are lovely and remember repeat customers. The price is decent especially if you attend during lunch.

It's typically busy here, even in winter for the obvious reason, location. The coffee is good, the food is great. Good menu board items as well as large selection of pre-prepared cabinet food. Service is generally good, but can take a while to get orders out when it's busy.
