Very beautiful and modern airport. I slept in the overnight rest area of this airport for one night and transferred flights the next day. The overall experience was good.
Clean airport. Metro Line 1 reaches my hotel holiday inn west lake east directly. Convenient and accessible to the Metro within the same building. Approximately 40 mins taxi ride to the West Lake area.
Large airport, over 2 hours out of Shanghai, predominantly a local airport, but some international flights. Went through the airport on the way out to Guangzhou airport flying China Southern.
Airport looks fairly new & quite spectacular inside with fairly clear signage. Checkin counter signage a bit confusing but ok.
Lots of restaurants & shops on check-in level & then on Departure level. Not as much out near the gates. The upstairs food court accessed from the Departure level was disappointing & lacked atmosphere & customers.
Ate at Canton 8 on Departures level & excellent. Great food, service ok, & prices very reasonable.
Flight departed a little late but plenty of seating out near the departure gates.

Consider arriving at the airport earlier during peak travel times to avoid long waits at customs or security
Plan your meals ahead as there are limited food options within the airport; consider dining in the city before heading to the airport
Utilize convenient transportation options such as Metro Line 1 for easy access to hotels or attractions in Hangzhou
If shopping for souvenirs, it's recommended to buy them in the city rather than waiting until you reach Hangzhou International Airport
Reviews
Hangzhou International Airport, located in the Xiaoshan District of Hangzhou, is a major transportation hub with four terminals, including the newest and largest Terminal 4. The airport serves both domestic and international routes, offering modern facilities and efficient services. Recent improvements have enhanced security checkpoints and check-in counters to manage increased passenger traffic. While reviews highlight its efficiency and expanding flight options, some mention limited food choices but commend the cleanliness and organization of the airport.

Funny thing, when we booked the ticket they didn’t say which terminal it was. So the taxi dropped us at Terminal 2, and we ended up running because the check-in gate was almost closing. Haha! By the way, Terminal 4 is actually nice, just still kinda empty. Not many food places yet, so it’s a bit hard to find something to eat or shop for🤷🏻♀️👋🏻
Nice airport, very clean. It's only issue if there was any is that it is absolutely massive but somehow doesn't get that much traffic. Definitely over built, but also with little restaurants and very little lounge options. T4 only has an Air China Lounge and a Priority Pass contract lounge for everything else. Not bad, but not the best.
