Daxi Old Street

Historical place
Sights & Landmarks
Daxi Old Street, located in Taoyuan, Taiwan, is a charming historic district that provides a window into traditional Taiwanese culture. The street is lined with well-preserved buildings dating back to the late 19th century Japanese rule over Taiwan. Visitors can explore specialty shops, cafes, and stalls offering traditional foods and local handicrafts. Notable attractions in the area include Lee Teng-fan's Ancient Residence and Daxi Wude Hall.
Pretty laid back place with tons of food. If you love cultural things and old buildings, worth to drop by. It is very outskirt and the tourist bus timing is pretty off from the published schedule. Check the local website instead (dun rely on google)
Kee C — Google review
It's a street with old looking architecture. The district is known for their tofu products such as Douhua (silken tofu desert) and braised tofu. I arrived here around 7AM and most stalls are closed, they open around 9AM onwards.
Marc J — Google review
Very unique culturally immersive district. We only visited Taipei for one day and came to this district via Uber. We are Americans. The food, people, and architecture was a great experience for the short time we were there.
Jeffrey H — Google review
Daxi has done a great job preserving the facades and old buildings. Definitely worth a visit for the small town atmosphere.
Edward Z — Google review
Come to see this old street with food and things you can buy. The scenery is nice too.
Ren C — Google review
The street is still asleep before 11am. Lots of walking to see other views. It is nice and quiet.

We visited Daxi old street and had a great time walking around looking at the stores! But what stood out even more were the street performers. They had incredible energy and aura, clearly loving every moment of singing and performing for visitors. I truly hope they make it big.

Great little old town to go to...make sure to go on weekends because some store are not open on the weekdays

Cihu Mausoleum, located in Daxi District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan, is a serene lakeside resting place for Chiang Kai-shek. The mausoleum features an hourly changing-of-the-guard ceremony and is surrounded by a bronze statue park housing statues removed from all over Taiwan due to public protest. It offers visitors the opportunity to delve into Taiwanese history during the KMT Chiang Kai-shek era.
One of the most special spots which everyone need to visit in Taiwan. it combines beautiful Nature of Taiwan togethet with eclectic not always easy understandable history of Taiwan(previously Formosa) Chiang Kaishek Mausoleum (which is one of his residences before) and big park with lake surrounding it plus historical grimace of Chiangs Cult Statues which were brought here after democratization of Taiwan adds more uniqueness to this worth-visit place. its a-must visit place on all of my taiwan private tours.
Andrew E — Google review
Once accessible, this was the dignified resting place of Chiang Kai-shek, the great statesman who pivoted China onto the UN Security Council and steered an ancient nation away from a century of humiliation. Sadly, senseless vandalism has forced the closure of the mausoleum's interior to the public.
S O — Google review
If yoy visit taipie dont forget to explore this place
Archie B — Google review
This is a combination garden park and memorial to Chiang-kai Shek. The garden has running stream and pond (inhabited by black & white geese). Chiang’s mausoleum is also here. There are regularly scheduled changing of the guards. There are many statues of Chiang and a few statues of Sun Yat-sen. My friend told me the statutes of both Sun (father of the Republic of China) and Chiang were moved here because most Taiwanese did not want these statues in their local cities, towns, schools, … I thought Sun and the Nationalists represented China’s attempt to create representative government with a republican structure. But that is not how the Taiwanese people see it. One thing is true. Taiwan has representative government now which means something was accomplished. The Nationalists were voted out. Another political party was voted in. On mainland China no one got a vote. As an American I think government by the people, for the people, & of the people is very difficult. But the other choice is a step backward. The people of Europe fought from 1789 to 1945 to achieve government of the people. The road was bloody, but freedom is not free. 1-2 countries in Far East Asia have achieved democracy. At least I hope so.
Duck B — Google review
A beautiful place to walk and enjoy the scenery. A must destination for those who have studied the history of WW 2. I came to pay my respects to this interesting and incredible man 🙏
Paul H — Google review
Beautiful tribute to the first President of Taiwan. Sad we weren't able to pay respect to Chiang Kai-Shek. The mausoleum was sealed off from public view due to an irate national who desecrated the memorial on February 28, 2018. No matter the political views, should not act out on a founders grave site. That's low.
Juan L — Google review
Mausoleum with history of Taiwan and beautiful greenish surrounding. Mausoleum is well connected to public transportation from Taoyuan station. Mausoleum has beautiful ponds with lots of duck and surrounded by beautiful art works and mountains. Guard changing activity is the one of attraction of the park.
Mohd K — Google review
Nice to look at from the outside, but I don't think you can enter. It's interesting to see this mausoleum in the beautiful surroundings and the statue park right next door. Come there for the hourly changing of the guard!

Taoyuan Night Market is a lively and bustling market located in the heart of Taoyuan, Taiwan. It offers a unique cultural experience for visitors, featuring over 250 stores and stalls offering everything from traditional Taiwanese dishes like stinky tofu and oyster omelets to fashionable clothing and local delights. The market's vibrant atmosphere makes it the perfect place to mingle with locals while savoring delicious Taiwanese street food.
You must come to this night market for the "popcorn pork." I ordered it thinking it was popcorn chicken. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised. It was by far the best fried food I had my entire trip. The meat is well-seasoned and tender. The batter is perfectly 酥 (crispy, although I think the English word doesn't fully capture it). Note there are bones, but I think that adds to the flavor. The woman working the stand is very friendly. I later found out my Taiwanese cousins come to this night market specifically for this stand.

Taoyuan Night Market is a vibrant hub of Taiwanese culture, offering a delightful mix of street food, local crafts, and lively atmosphere. From the moment you enter, the tantalizing aromas of traditional snacks like stinky tofu and oyster omelets, along with modern fusion dishes, draw you in. The vendors are friendly and take pride in their offerings, with standout items such as crispy pepper buns with juicy, flavorful fillings. Beyond the food, the market is a treasure trove of unique gifts, clothes, and quirky souvenirs at reasonable prices. The bright lights, energetic crowds, and symphony of sounds create an electrifying yet safe and well-organized environment. Conveniently located and easily accessible, Taoyuan Night Market is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience the true essence of Taiwan. Highly recommended!

Smaller than what I thought but found some amazing snacks. A must visit when visiting here.

Very beautiful waterfall with nice hiking trail. Easy for access. In nature.

A pretty long stretch of night market food options for you from takeaway stands to seating booths. All serving a wide variety of Taiwanese night street food and shopping. There were multiple crossroads that diverged into a different path. But you'll know when you reach the end of each section as the food shops reduce. There are dustbins at every cross section for patrons, too!

I was there on weekday, not so crowded and the weather was prefect 23°C.

Zhongli Night Market, located in Taoyuan County, Taiwan, is a bustling and underrated gem offering a multifaceted experience. It features stalls selling local street food, clothing, leather items, and hardware. The market is one of the largest night markets in the area and offers affordable dining options along with stalls selling trinkets and fairground-style amusement games. It's an ideal place to spend an evening and immerse yourself in Taiwanese culture.
Smaller than many of the other night markets but still has the vibe... The gua bao (bun with stew pork) is really good and so is the cheong fun ! Good stop before going to airport.
VT — Google review
We visited this night market during our stay in the area. It's about a 15-20 minute walk (around 1km) from where we were staying. The night market itself has a lively atmosphere with good energy! We noticed two main streets – one with fixed shop houses and the other side flanked by push cart vendors. with various restaurants. The food options were decent, although we found the overall quality to be average compared to other famous night markets in Taiwan. However, we highly recommend trying the Chinese dumplings served in steamer baskets. They only offer 2 flavours; Orginal or Mala. The dining experience was unique, with queue poles guiding customers and squatting stools available by the roadside for eating. If you're in the area and looking for a taste of local night market life, we recommend checking this place out.

Nice quite big night market delicious local foods milk tea and fruits has fun games also
Riza C — Google review
A little kid's paradise. Many game stalls, great variety of food, and much more spacious. The toilets also have a super big sign building so you don't have to worry about overdrinking stuff.
Estee T — Google review
This night market was about 10mins walk from our hotel and we've been here before (bout 2 years back). Back then, this whole street was more quiet and lesser stalls, guessing they're recovering after the pandemic. But now, it's more lively with more stalls and I can see there's more people (both locals and tourist).
Tan H — Google review
Not the biggest nor most popular night market. Offers quite limited variety and you see a lot more of sesame chicken, pork dishes, and other cooked food rather than snacks which is good that they have small tables behind the stalls for you to sit and eat. It's also not as accessible like others in Taipei.
Jack — Google review
A nice local night market to visit near Laojie station. With many food stalls.

Big night market you could easily spend 30 minutes to an hour here.

Water & Amusement Parks
If you're seeking a delightful family adventure, look no further than the Window on World Theme Park. This enchanting destination features over 130 meticulously crafted models of iconic global landmarks at a 1/25 scale, making it a miniature marvel to explore. Beyond the impressive replicas, visitors can enjoy thrilling rides and an exciting water park that opens during the summer months of July and August. While the rides may not be brand new, they still offer plenty of fun for both kids and adults alike.
Even though it's a Sunday, we needn't line up for long to play on the amusement park facilities. I really loved that.
Mena A — Google review
A fun place to bring your kids. Agree with many other reviews. The miniature world is a bit dated but it’s still appreciated, especially with the hot climate. Had no idea there was an actual amusement park inside where you have to take a train across. All the rides are free! They also have little kids rides (90cm to 110cm). Be warned, the water rides get you drenched (Requiring change of clothes drenched). You can buy a plastic rain cover set for 50NT. Didn’t try the food.
Iku Y — Google review
One park, two atmospheres. This theme consists of actually two different locations. One is their original park with miniature buildings, trains, yards and more. Main focus is Taiwan, Japan and China. Very well designed park with small trees like Japanese park. Also some moving elements like trains and airplanes. Although outdated, great to see! Then you can take the train to the other section of the park that is completely different. Walking to this section is another option when the queue is too long for the train. Takes about 15 minutes by foot. The second section is more like a Taiwan theme park with roller coasters, many slot machines, water park, and vendor selling lots of snacks. No clear focus on the miniatures world. It also have two small parks to introduce some European and American buildings, but it is clear to me that they spend significant less effort to make this stand out. No moving elements and less detail to the park itself. Don't get me wrong, still nice to walk around, but different feeling compared to first section of the park. What stood out that there were so many commercials from PEPSI, would be better to brand it to Window on Pepsi :). The branding changed btw some years ago to Window on World, but that has not everywhere (such as at the entrance) been updated. So in general, yes I enjoyed the park but the park clearly lacks focus: either focus on standard theme park or on miniature zed world. Price recommendation: 350 twd max.

This is a place that I have visited as a child more than 30 years ago and it was a nice nostalgic place to bring my kids to now. It was fun to explore the miniature worlds and find places I had seen when I was a child, not much has changed in a good way! Then we spent majority of the time since it was hot and humid at the water park area and indoor play area (playground, merry go round and dining). The water park was pretty vast and had many areas of play for different ages of kids. As foreign visitors, we did not know prior to going but it is required to wear swim caps so stock up before you go or you can purchase at their gift shop as well which we did for about $70NT - $120NT. There was plenty to keep small ones occupied for the day and they did not want to leave, great place for some water play in the hot humid summer. Also they have stroller rentals for reasonable prices which made the visit easier with small ones and toddlers. Highlights were the big water ride and train ride to the water park. We went on a summer week day which was not too crowded at all. Also, it’s not super easy to get to by public transportation, we took car service/taxi to get there.

充滿歡樂回憶的地方~~ We had such a wonderful time visiting the Miniature World theme park! My child was absolutely thrilled exploring all the beautifully detailed scenes, each one carefully designed and full of imagination. Since our visit was during the Halloween season, the park was decorated with festive pumpkins, lights, and spooky yet fun displays, adding an extra layer of excitement. It was a magical experience that created so many joyful memories for our family, and we’re already looking forward to visiting again.
Jeff Y — Google review
An amazingly adorable place to visit! During my visit, there was a huge promotion for the ticket, made the visit even more worth it! If you have kids, definitely bring them over here. Lots of attractions to see and to experience. During summer time is better because they open their water park on July and August only. Keep in mind during these months the park can be crowded even on weekdays, and the sun shines so bright! So don't forget to pack water, sunscreen, and wear jackets if needed. Also don't forget to bring swimsuit and umbrella as well. The employees all are very friendly and cheerful, really recommended for a family visit, or even a date!
Lorraine F — Google review
This theme park is amazing. It has operated for more than 20 years, but the miniatures, indoor/outdoor games are still managed very well. I like their miniatures of collections, they are awesome! It's also a nice place to play the bumped car, water coaster 🎢🌊

Although the visitor center was opened in 2019, there are ongoing construction works to enhance facilities like parking and activity plazas.

The most famous scenery is Xiao Wulai Waterfall, Longfeng Valley Waterfall and Fengdong Stone. Yunei Creek is the upper reaches of Xiao Wulai Waterfall. Due to the abundant rainfall and considerable creek flow, Xiao Wulai Waterfall is hardly affected by winter drought. Xiao Wulai Waterfall is divided into three layers, but the middle section is the most spectacular. It is a "fault hanging valley type" waterfall. The stream water suddenly encounters a fault and collapses to form a cliff from the top of the narrow valley. The stream water then falls straight down from the gap on the left into a deep pool 50 meters below. The water mist is flying and the water is hazy, which can be called a wonderful and secluded scene. Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport

International airport
Airport
Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) is a modern airport located in the Taipei area, offering a wide range of amenities for travelers. From a library and game area to shopping, dining options, and even showers, the airport aims to provide comfort and convenience for all visitors. Traveling to and from the airport is made easy with the Taoyuan International Airport MRT Line, connecting it to various stations including Taipei Main Station.
Taoyuan International Airport: A Breeze of a Welcome! ✈️ Arriving at Taoyuan International Airport is truly a smooth and wonderful experience. From the moment you land, everything feels efficient and welcoming. A Smooth and Speedy Arrival 💨 Getting through customs was an absolute breeze. The process was fast and organized, with clear signage and friendly staff. It felt like no time at all before I was on my way to baggage claim. The adorable plush dog at the biosecurity checkpoint was a nice, unexpected touch! 🐶 Bags in a Flash 🧳 The seamless journey continued right to the luggage carousels. My bag appeared almost instantly, making the entire retrieval process quick and stress-free. There's nothing better than a fast and reliable baggage system after a long flight! Beyond the Basics ✨ This airport is more than just efficient; it's a great first impression of Taiwan. I loved seeing the vibrant "Welcome" wall in so many languages and the incredible Lego model of the airport. It shows how much thought and care goes into the details here. It's truly a top-notch airport! 💯

This airport gets an award for the most unique gates! They all have different themes and are visually interesting, informative, and interactive. They’re separated into two parts; the ground floor waiting area complete with charging at the seats and the downstairs where you get ready to board, also with seating. I find the international terminal to be heavily focused on duty free and luxury shopping, which makes it tough to actually be convenient. When I have a layover here or am departing back home, I’m not interested in buying souvenirs or luxury goods. I’m trying to be comfortable for my flight ahead… Find things I need like cough drops or headache medicine, dried fruits and nuts, healthy snacks, mints or gum, magazines to read, etc. I would die for a 7-Eleven of Family Mart that I can actually get to from inside Termjnal 2. A lovely airport nonetheless, and as someone from the U.S., this airport beats any of them!

Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport — one of the busiest airports in Asia and the main gateway to Taiwan. The airport is clean, modern, and well-organized, with friendly staff and plenty of facilities. There are lots of dining options, souvenir shops, and convenience stores like 7-Eleven available after check-in. Free Wi-Fi works well throughout the terminals. The layout is spacious and comfortable for both short stops and long layovers. Overall, a great airport experience for travelers.

Where to collect the luguage also will display in big screen. You need to fill in arrival card online before the custom. Mostly communication in Chinese but they can communicate in English also. Departure hall in Taiwan B8 got 4 special chair, you can lie down like bed, but hard to get as people will chop the seat super early. Hope we can have more that kind of seats.

Very clean and signage was very helpful with both chinese and english. The only disadvantage is there's not American fast food eateries on airside. Most of them are available before the customs gate, including convenient stores. They do have local food available but most of them were closed by the time I cleared customs.

Clean and modern with all facilities needed for a good travel experience. The only thing I noticed is that there are no shops to buy basic travel food like chips, water and snacks. I also did not see a pharmacy in the departure terminal.

August 2024 Absolutely loved our airport experience during a layover! Everything was super clean, with clear directions and plenty of staff around to help. There’s a lot to see and explore — from a gaming area to several unique zones throughout the airport. We have access to the premium lounges thanks to American Express, and it was such a nice perk. The lounge had a good variety of food and lots of space to relax while waiting for our flight — a great way to unwind in between travel. We tried to find the Hello Kitty area, but didn’t want to risk missing our flight if it was too far, so we skipped it. We also grabbed a meal at a restaurant (didn’t catch the name) but the food was 10/10 — super tasty and affordable. One of the best layover experiences we’ve had!

Xiaowulai Skywalk

Mentioned on
4 lists
Scenic spot
Sights & Landmarks
Xiaowulai Skywalk is a picturesque destination featuring a tempered glass platform that allows visitors to enjoy breathtaking views of the Xiao Wulai Waterfall. The bridge sits atop the waterfall, offering an unobstructed panoramic view of the natural wonder. Additionally, there is a wooden hanging bridge with equally stunning scenery that is longer than the glass bridge.
This is a fantastic place to visit and not too far from Taipei. The sound of the water all around creates a truly magical atmosphere. Parking can be a challenge we found a spot at the top of the street and walked down. Since the entire area is hilly, be prepared for a lot of walking and wear comfortable shoes. Those with mobility issues can still visit, but it’s best to take it slow and be cautious. Unfortunately, it’s not wheelchair accessible. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. The skywalk offers an amazing view and is easy to access, while the rope bridge adds a fun and slightly wobbly adventure!

Enjoyed the sound of the waterfalls - beautiful place to visit. Only very few people were there, basically had the place to myself. The Skywalk is part of a park with more waterfalls and bridges. Very relaxing and fun to walk through it.

Xiowulai Skywalk – A Must-Visit! This glass walkway offers a thrilling experience with stunning canyon and waterfall views. The engineering is impressive, safety is solid, and the surrounding hiking trails add to the adventure. Highly recommended for thrill-seekers and nature lovers! #googlelocalguide #1vtoledo #localseo

A very family friendly experience (as long as you don’t have a fear of heights). The water flows were quite small when we visited and so none of the waterfalls were at their most spectacular. The suspension bridge is well anchored and solidly constructed. There were few people when we visited so we could linger and enjoy the views. The skywalk is a bit of an anticlimax but is no doubt more dramatic after rain. Staff were helpful and friendly.
Theo C — Google review
Soothing and easy nature walk with several hanging suspension bridges. 50 ntd per ticket. Few cafes and drinks are available in the park. Water park is sometimes closed
Albert Y — Google review
Good place for a one day hike. The trail is simple and the scenery is good. The glass sky walk is a must visit. But, if went during poplar hours, it might have a long line up. There are buses going from city directly to this place, it's very convenient for non driving tourists. If drive a car, the parking is very limited, around 30 spaces, with some private ones.
Jeff C — Google review
Amazing day trip from Taipei (easy 1.5h drive). The skywalk and the suspension & rope bridges, and little walking tracks were awesome. Great views, lovely waterfalls and beautiful way to enjoy some nature. Highly recommend.
Ronelle E — Google review
The waterfall is good but the place doesn't have a proper motor Cycles parking.if it is a weekend better keep that in mind. Many treks and site seeing surrounding the area. A nice lookout for a day trip and fun with family and friends

City Suites Taoyuan Gateway

Hotel
Taiwanese restaurant
City Suites Taoyuan Gateway is a budget-friendly airport hotel with low-key rooms and suites. It offers a buffet restaurant and free breakfast for guests. While some found the location a bit challenging to navigate, others enjoyed the walk from Dayuan Station to the hotel. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with some minor issues like air conditioning problems and dusty air in the rooms. Overall, it's considered a good option for those looking for an affordable stay close to the airport and public transportation options.
🥇Excellent choice for a 24-hour layover. 👩‍💼👨🏻‍💼Staff were respectful, courteous, extremely friendly and helpful. 🧳Always ready to lend a hand to me especially since I was travelling singly with a child and lots of luggage, from holding the lift doors to helping with my bags. ☕️Breakfast buffet was really generous, a variety of Chinese to Japanese dishes to Western-style salads and even dessert, and in a dining area that was so huge that finding space amidst the crowded morning rush was not an issue. 🚕Checked out promptly at 11am and the cab that I had booked with the front desk to leave for the airport at 1115am was already there, ready to go. Just make sure to have 200TWD in cash for the fare. 🏨Rooms do have that slightly dated yet antique grand kind of feel, but everything was clean and working well and I never felt shortchanged. ✅Kudos to the hotel management and staff for the excellent experience - would highly recommend 💯 (Stayed on 10 Aug 2025, Room 1125)

Had a great stay here. Quiet and comfy. Double queen beds room is ideal for family. Easy to get to the airport by taxi or Metro. Not the newest facilities but good value considering the price and location.

This is the worst "airport hotel" I've been to. Getting here is super awkward if you don't have a car. You need to stop at Dayuan station (be sure to take the commuter train not rapid), and then walk in this dirty unpaved path/neighborhood until you reach the hotel. The hotel is 10 minutes away from the terminals, but does not offer any shuttle service. The hotel is pretty bare minimum and doesn't have any amenities such as gym, but it does have a banquet for some reason. The breakfast was quite bad and I saw a big fly on top of the fruits. This hotel needs to be rebuilt from the ground up.
Tim N — Google review
Do you like the noise of tents flapping on a mountain side? Do you like rooms without windows (boarded up with plywood). Then I have a place for you. Ridiculous building under construction no notice, carpet in room disgusting, brown carpet tiles shrunch/gaps to floor, gross. No iron!?. If it wasn't so late I would never have stayed for 3 seconds. NOT convenient to airport or train station, no functioning sidewalk to get you there. Lobby portico offers little protection from rain. I didn't eat breakfast there, I wonder why.
Patrick H — Google review
Not too far from the airport but not a walking distance either. The hotel is undergoing some (needed) renovation, unfortunately we got one of the older rooms which was OK but old fashioned (not enough electric sockets, carpet, weird bathtub/shower situation). The AC was really powerful which was great for us. The bed was good, water pressure amazing, very good breakfast buffet. Staff is very friendly and helpful. A good rest stop before/after a long flight.
Shai G — Google review
Their shower tub is huge, but be careful not to trip over it. Beds are comfortable and sheets are clean, but not very new. Rooms have a small refrigerator and free bottled water. Their front counter customer service is fair, but lacking a basic smiley face which I think is utmost valuable in a nice hotel. Complimentary breakfast from 6 AM to 10 AM on the 2nd floor.
George H — Google review
My husband and I stayed at Taoyuan City Suites and overall, we had a great experience. Since I had almost 30kg of baggage, we decided to take a taxi from Taoyuan Airport Terminal 1 instead of taking the train. The ride was quick and convenient, costing only NT$180, which was worth it considering the heavy luggage. Check-in was smooth and fast. However, I think it would be even better if the reception staff could be a little warmer and more welcoming with smiles to make guests feel more comfortable. That said, they communicate well in English, which made the whole process hassle-free. For dining, since there aren’t many food options around the area, my husband and I decided to avail of their buffet dinner, which runs from 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM. The food was delicious and definitely worth it! Special thanks to the Filipina staff who assisted us — she was very accommodating and always smiling. We really appreciate how smart and attentive she was. At first, she spoke to us professionally in English, matching the language we used, but she quickly sensed we were Filipinos and made us feel very welcome. Ate, if you’re reading this — thank you so much, and we hope to see you again when we come back! The hotel accepts credit card payments for accommodations, but if you book a taxi through them, you’ll need to pay the driver in cash (NT$200). It’s convenient since they also help arrange transportation for guests. Since the hotel is only about 10 minutes away from the airport, you can expect to hear some airplane noise. However, during our stay, my husband and I didn’t have any trouble sleeping and weren’t disturbed by the sound at all. Overall, we had a comfortable and satisfying stay at Taoyuan City Suites. The location is very convenient, especially for travelers with early flights since it’s close to Taoyuan Airport. We’ll definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice, relaxing, and accessible place near the airport.

City suites serve its purpose for me. Comfortable bed, clean room and great shower. It offers a fantastic breakfast with so much food and style. It keeps my day going, and it was a long day journey back to the States. The front desk called a taxi and had it ready for me when I was ready to go. I would choose to stay here next time I visit Taiwan.

Ikki Taoyuan Nanhua Branch

$$$$affordable
Japanese restaurant
Ikki Taoyuan Nanhua Branch offers a satisfying dining experience at a reasonable price. While some dishes like the soup and rice are delicious, others such as the sashimi and grilled beef may not meet expectations. The presentation of the food is commendable, but its taste may not match up. However, the friendly staff and excellent service contribute to an overall positive experience. This restaurant is recommended for Japanese cuisine enthusiasts looking for a good meal without breaking the bank.
Tried their top course. Started with a fancy little amuse-bouche… felt like a warm-up for my taste buds. Then came the main sets… let’s just say my taste buds stayed on the couch 🛋️. Sashimi? Fresh, but didn’t make me sing. Wagyu? Bouncy, but not trampoline-level. Beef rice bowl? Please… save your appetite.
Natthon R — Google review
I’m surprised this place has a 4.8 rating; it feels overrated. The food was presented in a somewhat fancy manner, but it was fairly ordinary in taste. The beef, in particular, fell short of my expectations based on how it was portrayed on the menu. Even the drinks is bad. On the positive side, the service was satisfactory, and the restaurant was clean. However, the food quality overall was disappointing and didn’t meet the standard I was hoping for.
金蓓蓓 — Google review
We visited this restaurant for dinner and found it to be a very interesting experience. The menu offered a wide selection, and we tried many dishes, all of which were excellent. The ingredients were fresh, and the flavours well-balanced. The service was efficient, and the staff was attentive throughout the meal. The only downside was the atmosphere, which felt a bit dark. While it added a certain mood, we would have preferred a slightly brighter setting. However, this did not take away from the overall enjoyment of the meal. For those looking for quality food and a refined dining experience, this is a solid choice.

TGI FRIDAYS Zhongli Restaurant

American restaurant
Restaurant
TGI FRIDAYS Zhongli Restaurant is a lively casual eatery that offers a festive atmosphere and serves a wide range of American cuisine. The staff is extremely friendly, and the service is efficient. The dishes are made with fresh ingredients, served hot, and incredibly tasty. A recommended option is their fish and chip lunch, which provides excellent value for money at $350, including a salad and soda. The fish has a crispy outer layer with delicious flavors while being soft on the inside.

We recently dined at TGI Fridays Zhongli Restaurant with our family and had an enjoyable experience. The restaurant's lively atmosphere made our dinner pleasant. We ordered a variety of dishes, including burgers, ribs, and salads. The food was flavourful and served promptly. The portion sizes were generous, providing good value for the price. The staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring our needs were met throughout the meal. The restaurant's location within Metro Walk Mall is convenient, especially for families looking to combine shopping and dining. While the prices are slightly higher compared to local eateries, the quality of food and service justifies the cost.

Went for lunch and was served the usual condiments. Mushroom soup was disappointing as they seemed to use too much flour. Ordered a ribeye and was extremely disappointed with the quality of the meat. My wife's New York steak on a hot plate tasted better than my ribeye. The ribeye had almost no marbling and contained quite a bit of unchewable tendons. The restaurant claimed it was USDA prime ribeye, which I honestly doubt. I have been all over the world and have eaten the best steaks, and this ribeye certainly did not live up to it's price. The restaurant staff were very receptive and service was excellent though. Sorry but will not return.

Top One Pot Zhongli Zhongmei Branch is a top-notch hotpot restaurant in Taoyuan that offers a delightful dining experience. The ambiance is serene and inviting, with well-maintained facilities including free mouthwash and napkins. The traditional Chinese outfits add a fun element to the dining experience. The decor is impressive, and the service is commendable. The menu boasts a wide selection of delectable dishes, with particular highlights being the quality meats and delicious meatballs.
The hot pot I had before? Yeah, that wasn’t the real deal. But here? I finally met the true hot pot. I was too busy eating to take many photos. Ah… I love you, Top One Pot Zhongmei Branch!! ❤️ And I want to give a heartfelt thanks to the staff who welcomed two Koreans visiting the second floor late at night in early December. Even though we couldn’t communicate well, your kindness shone through till the very end. Thanks to you, Taiwan has become an even more beautiful memory for me. (And seriously... where did that rumor about Koreans claiming hot pot as their own even come from? 🤦‍♂️ Koreans would never think that. Taiwan Number One! 🙌🇹🇼 )

Stumbled upon this hotpot place by chance on a Monday night, and what a pleasant surprise! The atmosphere was really cozy, and the staff were incredibly warm and friendly. We opted for the set for 2 and added a few extra dishes (4-5) to share, which ended up being very reasonable at around SGD30 per person. The portion sizes were generous, especially considering the price. The highlight for me was definitely the recommended pork soup base - it was rich and flavorful. The fish slices and pork were also fresh and delicious, although the prawns were a bit on the smaller side and weren't the freshest. Overall, a great spot for a casual and affordable hotpot experience. Definitely recommend checking it out!

Tokiya Zhongli Zhongshan

The cuisine and service at Tokiya Zhongli Zhongshan are pleasant. Although slightly expensive, the quality justifies the price. The dining experience leaves one feeling completely satisfied. The establishment itself is attractive with lovely decor, a cozy atmosphere, and ideal for group gatherings. However, it can be somewhat cramped and crowded at times. The restaurant offers a satisfactory set menu that falls between casual dining and slightly upscale options, making it a good choice for celebrating birthdays.
Second time here and for the second time we chose the set menu, mixing up the dishes and sharing them between us. Make sure you are really hungry before choosing the set menu as it's a lot of food. We’ve been to Tokiya for so many times and want to celebrate Father’s Day here with our parents. Generally speaking, we were pleased with its salads/ appetizers/ soups/ drinks and good service but… 1. Entrees are served cold. Two out of 4 entrees (chicken and steak) are not ideal/cold. 2. Cake qualities are not equally the same. Later we were told one of the cakes (picture attached) is not supposed to be served to the guests. 3. Under construction neighborhood. Can’t stay calm to enjoy the environment/vibe and the food. The noise and quakes made by the construction machine makes us feel nervous. Other than that, they responded to our feedback promptly. However, we probably won’t come here again. Parents were disappointed with their meals.

Date Arrival: 24.9.2025 12.05pm Date Departure: 30.9.2025 1.05am Flight: Scoot Gate departure in Taiwan B8 Very good and smooth. The instruction for the direction also very clear.

Taoyuan International Airport in Taipei is modern, clean, and well-organized. The terminals are spacious with clear signage and friendly staff. Fast check-in, plenty of local and international food options, and a great duty-free zone with tea and pineapple cakes. Comfortable lounges and rest areas make it ideal for transit travelers.

Taichung International Airport

International airport
Transportation
Taichung International Airport is located in a city with a population of 2.8 million, making it the third largest in Taiwan. To reach the airport from Taoyuan International Airport, passengers can take a shuttle bus to THSR Taoyuan Station, then transfer to THSR Taichung Station and finally take Nantou Bus to Qingjing Farm. The journey takes approximately 2 hours and costs around NT$262 per person.
⭐⭐⭐I have taken a flight to Kinmen once before. The airport in Taichung has domestic and international flights✈️✈️✈️. Most of them take international flights to the outer islands of Taiwan and the international terminal. The airport lobby is clean and bright, and you can feel the care taken by the airport staff in maintaining it. To get to the bus station or take a taxi, you need to walk to the parking lot outside the terminal. The currency exchange bank, ambulance station and other facilities next to the lobby are quite complete. There are restaurants and convenience stores inside such as Laerfu, so there are not many choices for the whole family. 🏝️🏝️🏝️ At present, the routes of Taichung Airport are gradually expanding, and the ticket counters of international airlines have even been moved to the side of domestic flights. More routes and flights should be added in the future. However, the current external transportation at the airport is not convenient. In addition to driving, picking up and dropping off, and taking taxis, the only public transportation is buses, and it is far from the city. It may not improve until the MRT is opened in the future.

Small and nothing special. Transport going to the hotels and other places is kind of unpredictable and inconvenient. I wish there will be improvements on my next visit.

This was my first visit to Taichung International Airport. It wasn’t a huge airport like Taoyuan but it was bright, clean, functional as well as spacious. There were lots of seats for waiting passengers. Counters were near and information boards were always updated with flight details promptly. There were 2 atriums, one for Domestic flights and the other for International flights. We were taking Uniair to Kinmen and counters were very neat. Counter staff were also very polite and experienced. Washrooms were spotless, spacious.

It is a convenient and compact airport with free wifi . There is only one restaurant/café once you go through customs and a few duty free shops. There's also a play area for kids and a few nice spots to sit down while waiting for boarding.
E K — Google review
Too many luxurious duty free in the transit zone and too few eateries, no convenience store. However, there are plenty of AC and USB sockets for charging, nice WiFi, functional restrooms. And most importantly, it's clean.
György A — Google review
Nice new international terminal, the domestic one is very dated, but has more food options. Small size and efficient staff means it's easy to use, and for Taichung residents the convenience is worth it. Also a viable option for foreign tourists if there are cheaper flights into Taichung, with airlines like Tigerair, T'Way and VietJet starting RMQ flights this year. There are new airport express buses running through the city (King Bus 國光客運 A1, A, A3, 100NTD) as well as the cheaper 302 from Taichung Train Station down the express lane on Taiwan Blvd. The international departures area has good duty free shopping, rest areas, and play areas and library for kids. But there is only one restaurant. The food is good but would have expected much more.

Nice airport, not too crowded. It is very convenient to travel from 台灣大道 by the 302 bus.

I arrived here on Feb 20, 2017 and departed here on Feb 24, 2017. I paid the cheapest fare from Hong Kong to Taiwan if I landed here. Although the airport looks nice, there is no rail link and public buses to city centre or railway stations run infrequently!

Taipei Songshan Airport

International airport
Sights & Landmarks
Taipei Songshan Airport is a commercial airport and military airbase that offers domestic flights as well as service to China, South Korea, and Japan. It is known for being the smaller downtown airport of Taipei, with limited services due to its old-school infrastructure and the impact of the pandemic on its development. Despite this, it remains convenient and easily accessible from downtown Taipei. The airport also recently became home to Live Comedy Club Taipei's new location, set to be the country's largest comedy venue.
A very compact airport where you can take flights for domestic travel in Taiwan. It's clean and practical. They also sell braised dishes and have a 7/11 in the boarding area, which is very convenient for passengers. :) I also love the beautiful view of the planes taking off!

Very clean airport with plenty of space. It only operates flight to and from China, Korea and Japan.

I Arrived taoyuan International airport and trafer to shanghai from Songshan airpirt. Such a smart way. I can use the 10 hour layover time and surf Taipei city. Been to most popular place like longstanding temple, president house, Zhongshan memorial etc within 10 hrs. The songshan airport is a central location only 15 min away from Taipei 101. No need to spend 1nhours to rush to taoyuan int'l airport. And songshan is clean. Easy access and has decent duty free. Highly recommend to use this one for transfer.

It’s not directly connected to the MRT exits but you won’t be poured by rains since there’s a shelter and the exits are just 10 meters away. This airport is more popular with domestic travelers but it’s also an international airport that only has shorter and limited nonstop flights, such as to Shanghai, Seoul, Tokyo and Xiamen etc. If you’re going to further destinations like Australia, Southeastern Asia, and any other regions, Taoyuan Airport (TPE) will be more suitable for you. There are a wide range of stores, including 7-11 and the Airshop on the first floor. In terminal 1 (international), there is a huge and spacious guest lounge with several restaurants, Starbucks and a gift shop on the second level. In terminal 2 (domestic), there comes a typical and large Taiwanese food court closed at 20:00 but also an simulated aircraft gallery that seems like you can buy a ticket to learn how to fly an airplane. However, the domestic departure zone is downstairs on the 1st floor. Besides, there is also a demonstration of a traffic light near the currency exchange bank on 1st floor, which is very symbolic of Taiwanese daily life.

Flew to Beigan via UniAir. Note that this airport only operates 5AM to 11PM. Inside, there are ATMs, 7-11, and other food stalls available. Outside is the train station and a bus stop. The bus stop was tricky since google maps doesn't say which bay the bus goes to, but each bay has the actual bus numbers.

Great airport in Taipei for domestic and international flights!
Frank Y — Google review
Visited here for International flights. The only good thing about this airport is its location. Other than that, you will feel like traveling domestic flights. Shops, restaurants, facilities need to be much more improved + The lounge at International Departure is poor and I recommend that you use Taoyuan Airport even it takes much more time for better experience.
Sky N — Google review
Former international airport for Taiwan. Now it mainly serves domestic flights. However there are some international flights still used in SongShan Airport. There is a foodcourt at level 2 of domestic flight terminal, and the food tastes great. There are also some stalls available selling cookies, domestic stuff at level 1. Mainly 3 main airlines served in the domestic flight.
