I was traveling through Puerto Rico by myself and each day getting up and looking online to see where I wanted to go. I had been in Rincon, and looked up beach areas south of there and Playa el Combate looked cool. So, this beach is different, and this has a lot to do with my review.
With most of my trip, the beach areas were typical, with a lot of traffic, businesses, and so forth close to the beach. With this beach, it was a descent drive through the country to get to this little village. This is not your typical beach town with tons of hotels.
I went to where the map showed me to park and there is not a parking lot. A few cars on the street in front of houses, and I wasn't sure where to park. I found a spot across from a restaurant and went in to ask if that was an ok place to park. Turns out, it was actually the hotel.
The girl was SOOOOOOOOO NICE, and for $15 I could park in their lot and enjoy their amenities. No brainer for me.
On paper, this is a roadside motel. But the way they have it setup, and how nice everyone is, and the fact that you are in a little village, vs. a big beach town, makes it really cool. I was not going to stay the night, but decided to just because I loved the vibe.
The facility has a pool, a covered area with tables, probably other stuff too, and has just a nice vibe to it. The outside area is super clean. There is a pathway to the beach.
For dinner I walked to Annie's, which was maybe a 5 minute walk, so there is a great food option close by.
The room was a motel room. But it was clean, had a mini split rather than a cheap hotel ac with stale air, and was cozy. It wasn't the Ritz, but the total package made it super comfy and a great experience.
